Episode #38 p. 1 of 2

The episode opens with Tahsin in his cell, which looks more like a dormitory, with several bunk beds. A guy comes over to him and says, "Everyone hates you. A lot of guys are competing for who will kill you." Tahsin doesn't show a bit of concern. He calls the guy an idiot and says, "Being the enemy of Tahsin Korludag is a bad idea."

Cahide is rubbing her belly when the phone rings. It's Hulya, of course. Cahide puts in earbuds so she can talk with Hulya being heard. Korhan has his head on the wall trying to hear Cahide's end of the phone call. She pleads with Hulya not to come to the festival. Suhan arrives. She waits in a room where there's a photo of Cesur, Suhan, Sirin, and, Cesur's mother. Suhan touches the photo where Cesur's mother is and then kisses it. She overhears Cahide say to Korhan, It's been two months in which Cesur hasn't called Suhan. She should move on with her life. It's clear that Cesur isn't coming back."

Cesur is at his mother's grave (I guess that answers the question of whether she died). "They're finally together," he says. He then goes to the Ministry of Justice, where Riza is being held. Banu greets him. He has come to see Riza. He wants to be with Riza alone, but Banu says that's not possible, she has to be present at all times. (Is she Riza's lawyer?) We see Riza doing push-ups in his cell. Riza is escorted, handcuffed, to the room where Cesur and Banu are waiting. He enters, and he and Cesur stare at each other. Riza's handcuffs are removed. Cesur reaches out as if to shake Riza's hand. Riza takes his hand.

Riza offers his condolences to Cesur. Cesur wants to know what happened in the past on that day (I think he means the day his father was killed). Riza says that Tahsin lied. "He said I'd be free." He then says, "Your father died two times." Cesur asks what happened, did Tahsin make you kill him?" Riza insists he didn't kill anyone. He said he couldn't see much. "Tahsin had his foot on my back. Everything is blurry, because of the drugs." Riza seems to indicate that they took Hasan outside. Cesur asks whether his father was alive when they took him outside. Riza says he doesn't know. "Perhaps. Perhaps they put him in the car and sent it over the cliff." Banu objects that this is just supposition. The interview ends. Banu feels that Riza's testimony is useless.

The scene shifts to the Korludag Spring Festival. Suhan is there. Suddenly she spots Cesur in his car. As soon as she sees him, he drives away. Suhan gets a car key from Kemal and goes to find Cesur. Kemal goes as well, on Tímida! Suhan is driving pretty fast, and I feared what was about to happen. At the last moment, she sees Tímida and tries to steer the car away. She succeeds in not hitting Tímida, but the car goes off the road. It comes to a stop, but Suhan has apparently hit her head on the steering wheel.

There's a flashback to a scene at the morgue. Cesur and Suhan are in a room, waiting. The DA comes out, perhaps from where the autopsy was being done, and tells Cesur that the autopsy will take all night. Cesur aks what will happen to Tahsin. He is sure Tahsin killed his mother. The DA says that if he's found guilty, he'll spend the rest of his life in prison. "So he'll still live," says a sad and enraged Cesur. "I couldn't save her," he says, repeatedly. Suhan puts her hand on his arm to comfort him. Cesur yells, "Don't touch me! Get out of here! When I look into your eyes, I see only the daughter of the man who killed all my loved ones." Suhan sees that he's in pain. She says, "Take your anger out on me if you wish. But I'm not my father." Cesur replies, "To me, you're only the murderer's daughter."

Ep. 38 p2 of 2

The flashback ends. We're back in the present. Cesur is clearly concerned about the injured and seemingly unconscious Suhan. He says some loving things to her. She comes to. She tells him, "I thought you called me "mi vida." (He did.) He's very solicitous of her, telling her to come with him. At first, it seems he wants to take her to the hospital, just to be sure all is well. But we then see them at his house. He is putting a bandage on a small head wound. He asks her whether it hurts. There's a long pause. "A lot," she replies. "It still hurts. 45 days and it still hurts. I talked to you in my mind. I told you everything. Many times."

Cesur says that he, too, was hurting. Finally, he said goodbye to his mother. "Once again, I had to say goodbye to my childhood." Suhan asks, "Did you say goodbye to me, too?" He hugs her. They cry. "You don't seem like the same person," she says. He asks her to go. She says, "My father's a victim, just like your mother. It was Riza who did this." Cesur yells, "Open your eyes! Your father is a murderer!" "It wasn't my father," she insists. "I'll prove it." She tells Cesur, "I'm not trying to save my father, I'm trying to save us!" She leaves.

Adalet is visiting Tahsin in jail. Apparently he has been asked to get new uniforms for the (prison?) fútbol team, with the players' names on the back. He gives Adalet a list of the names. She then tells him that this nightmare will be over in just a few days. There's a pause. Then she tells him that Cesur is back. "I saw him with Suhan on my way here." In a troubled tone, Tahsin says, "Suhan was with him...." and the episode ends.

Thanks so much Juanita for your brief, but very concise recap of this episode! So, we now know that Fugen is indeed with Hasan. Cesur’s emotions, thoughout this very sad occurrence we’re so very normal, but also very powerful! Lashing out at Suhan was expected. He loves a woman who’s father is a dirtbag, even though he didn’t commit this particular crime, but has committed so many others. Even though Mean daddy is in jail for a crime he didn’t commit, he still belongs there, and rightfully so. Now the almighty Tahsin Korludag knows what it feels like to be the underdog and at the mercy of those who can hurt you for no reason at all. He’s making sure that their requests are getting filled, too! Lol!

It was a lovely scene watching Cesur and Suhan share their pain, but for the love of Santa Claus, Suhan!! Why couldn’t you leave your shared tender moment alone??? Why did you have to make sure, at that exact moment, that Cesur knew that you still believed in your father??? Why didn’t you give him a couple days?!? A minute?!?! A second?!? You haven’t seen him in 45 days, yet the thing that eats him the most—-Mean daddy—— you bring up! So insensitive!!

Riza is the devil incarnate…just sayin…….

Juanita, thank you for the recap of all the angst and anger.

Poor Cesar now has lost another family member and added another name to the relatives he must avenge .

I don't like the new haircut . Is it symbolic ? He should have left his hair grow in protest. Okay...just me ? Well, at !east he didn't go for the buzzcut.

I didnt like Cesar shaking hands with crazy , warped Riza.

The festival wasn't very festive.

I did smile at Tahsin being leaned on to sponsor the prison football team . ha ...Turkish Friday Night Lights . Will his name be on the shirts ? Will he have to serve as mascot ? A koala bear , maybe?? Will Adalet cherrlead? She isn't very perky.

We are having a heatwave thus week. Shout out to Martha and the Van dallas.

Thanks for the recap. I was way confused.

I am not a totally heartless person and yeah Fuhan's death was brutal, I get why Cesur is lashing out.

Now on to other problems.
Must we install a safety module on any vehicle Suhan travels in and in case of animals a safety helmet?

How many head injuries can she endure? Her forehead should rival Frankenstein's by now, the monster not the doctor.

In addition the real crime of the episode, was that outfit Suhan wore to festival. Egads.

Thanks very much, carmella, Susanlynn, and FEV, for your terrific comments.
Carmella, first of all, thanks for making time at 6 AM (when you're probably about to start or have just ended a medical shift) to offer your insightful comments. I confess I was rather annoyed at Cesur for being so harsh with Suhan, but your remarks have made me feel much more compassion.

Susanlynn, I too found it amusing that Tahsin was being pressured into sponsoring new, personalized shirts for the prison fútbol team. I loved "Turkish Friday Night Lights" and the notion of koala-bear Tahsin serving as a mascot! When I first saw Cesur's haircut, I didn't like it, but last night I decided I did.

FEV, you raise a good question about Suhan's head injuries. I gather it doesn't take many concussions to cause the terrible problems we've seen many boxers and football players experience as they get older. As for Suhan's outfit, it may be a "crime," but at least she won't have to go to trial to defend her choice. Although, since Tahsin was clearly very troubled at the end of the episode by Suhan's being back together with Cesur, who knows what Korludag "justice" he may try to inflict on his daughter?

BTW, I was a bit disconcerted to notice a number of small errors in my recap. Mostly, it was just trivia like missing starting or ending quotation marks, but at one point, I apparently wrote "Cahide puts in earbuds so she can talk with Hulya being heard." Huh?? I really thought I had written "without," not "with." Oh well....

amor-val

Late to the party. Work stuff and then a doctor's appt. As my mother used to say, after 50 it's patch...patch...patch. My latest is issues (separate ones) on each of my hands. They are tendon issues. After a cortisone shot in my right hand, it already feels better (maybe psychosomatic since the doc said it might take a week to work).

Thanks so much, Juanita, for putting up such an excellent recap. It might have been short according to some of the really long ones we've had for other dizis, but it said it all.

I actually enjoyed Cesur really yelling at Suhan. Of course, he is wrong about who killed his mother. But, considering all of Tahsin's other crimes, he was definitely a logical choice and even there at the scene of the crime. Suhan kind of deserved his rage for consistently trying to convince him Mean Daddy isn't all that bad.

I actually wanted her to suffer a bit more. In her case absence did make the heart grow fonder. To me she deserved the yelling for all the times he tried and tried to win her over, but her responses were lukewarm at best But, once, he saw her hurt, his love came back in spades.

I rewatched Cesur mounting Timida about four times. Wow! No foot in the stirrup; he just leapt on her back. I suspect there might have been a round of applause from the recording crew, even if it was an ironic one.

I have NO IDEA what Cahide is going to do about not producing the heir in a month's time, or less. Hulya is huge. They didn't show Cahide with the fake bump or maybe I missed it.

Carmella, I agree. Suhan should have just shut it about Riza when the two of them had reconciled a bit for a tender moment.

Fev, loved the idea of Suhan's forehead resembling Frankenstein's monster!

Susanlynn, I enjoyed the mention of Martha and the Vandellas!

amor-val

Thanks very much, novelera, for your perceptive comments. I realized that I hadn't taken note of Cesur's mounting Tímida, so after reading your comment I took another look. Wow!

I'm glad you thought the recap was sufficient. To be honest, I had originally intended to write the "bare bones" version I mentioned, but somehow, it morphed into a slightly fuller recap. I find that it often takes me more time to write less. Hence, I aimed for bare bones, but a little flesh kept appearing on the bones.

Sorry to hear about your "patches." Let's hear it for cortisone shots!

Novelera, gee , how did I miss Cesar mounting the horse??? Maybe I am still focused on the new haircut . I'm finding it hard to forgive him. If you want to see amazing men on Amazing horses, you should watch Kurulus Osman. Unbelievable.

OT..Hub and I saw Marta in concert a couple tines. Wow.

#39 part 1 of 2

A prisoner (Tarun?) drops a pill in front of Riza when he’s outdoors in the yard. It’s a note in a pill capsule. We don’t find out what it says. Later on we see Riza look at a newspaper with the trial on the front page.

Looks like Cesur has packed up Fugen’s things in boxes and takes them away in his car. He tells Sirin he doesn’t need physical reminders; his mother is engraved in his mind.

DA Serhat comes to Casa Kordulag. Suhan comes to the door. [I guess she moved back in since Tahsin is in the slammer.] She has invited him to discuss what will happen at the trial. Korhan says, since it’s his father, he wants to be there for the conversation. [What is that weird, black, flat fanny pack that Suhan has on, worn in front like an apron?] They go into the living room. Of course Cahide sits in and yaps from time to time like the most annoying chihuahua ever. Serhat wanted to talk about the letters. To sum it up, one of the letters from Riza, the one to Adalet, was written on stationery with a K watermark and written with Tahsin’s own special pen, the one that disappeared.

Adalet is furious when Korhan reminds the others of Tahsin’s past misdeeds (like kidnapping his own child). She tells them she’ll tell their father what terrible children he has.

At the spring festival Bulent talks up their olive oil (his and his mother’s) with some people. He says it is very special, made with pumpkin flowers. Mihriban remembers leaving the cemetery with Bulent, a child of around 11, when Tahsin approaches. He expresses his condolences for the loss of her husband. He said, I think, that he’ll pay for Bulent’s education. He offers to form an association with her and will send his attorney to explain how it will work.

Adalet approaches Mihriban and asks her to please do as Tahsin asked in his letter. But she did not see the letter. Mihriban: “You want me to accept that he loves me?” [Cara de impactada de Adalet]

This is the second dizi I’ve seen with the dormitory style prison cell. The first was Fatmagul. However, Riza is always alone. I can’t tell if he’s considered that dangerous or what this is about. The other prisoners are taunting Tahsin. I think Adalet brought some food that the ringleader guy says was too salty. Tahsin slams the guy on the table and puts some sort of weapon to his neck. [Please. This 60-plus guy is able to dominate a room full of hardened criminals with the force of his personality.]

Cesur runs into Salih at the grocery store. He corners him in an aisle y le dice sus cuatro verdades (gave him a piece of his mind).

Sirin wants Cesur to come to the festival. When he pulls away, she says she knows he’s suffering. But she reminds him they all loved Fugen. They are like a family.

Bulent wears a panda suit to entertain kids at the festival. Banu is laughing at him. Later he manages to get back on her good side and they kiss.

Adalet tells Mihriban about Tahsin saying her name when he was hospitalized. She’s trying to soften her up for the trial.

#39 part 2 of 2

Kemal tricks Cesur into showing up at the festival. Sirin sings. Cesur drinks. Our self-possessed hero has gotten drunk, and Suhan brings him home. She gives him a shower and puts him to bed. He isn’t that far gone, wakes up and asks her to stay. They do the deed.

In the morning Suhan gets up and sees he’s not there. He is galloping Timida again. When he comes back, Suhan has gone and she’s left him a note. “The trial is tomorrow. He has to decide about the two of them. She says she hasn’t written I love you.”

We see the trial. There are a lot of witnesses, and the judge somehow doesn’t put a gag in Tahsin’s mouth as he should have done. The SOB speaks out in court as if he owns Istanbul like he owns Kordulag.

Sirin testifies that, after Fugen was taken, only one car drove past. It was Tahsin Kordulag and, even though she ran towards the car and saw that he saw her, he did not stop.

Mihriban testifies about the trap that was set for Mehmet and the former DA that proved they had hacked Serhat’s computer.

Salih testifies that he wasn’t in Kordulag that day because he was spying on Suhan.

Cesur testifies that Tahsin wasn’t trapped by the planted email like Memet and the former DA. Cesur says that he always gets away clean. He got away with setting up that prison escape in which Rifat was almost killed. “At that time he said he’d make me pay/”

Cesur testifies that he called the police when he found out about his mother being kidnapped. Haltingly he talks about coming to that old factory. He says he knew how awful this would be for her in her current state. Tahsin gets to butt in again, saying how he brought Fugen home months ago.

Cesur says he couldn’t understand what was happening. It was so fast. “I saw my mother fall from the upper floor. Tahsin Kordulag was there – above."

The judge: “Did you see the accused push the victim into the air?” Cesur: "No. I didn’t see him do it. I arrived just as she fell. I had no way to see what happened, only that he was present." Smug look from Tahsin's attorney.

Novelera, thank you for covering all the action and inaction.

I had the same thought that you did...what was that black leather apron ???? Thing that Suhan was, wearing with that mini skirt.

I knew that hard drinking Cesar was going to be escorted home by either bff Kemel or simmering Suhan and that he and Suhan would wind up in bed. It was funny that Suhan decided to put him in the shower with his clothes on and unbelievable that she could hold up that big Drunk guy in the shower. No way. So ....is she pregnant now ?

Bulent in the panda suit at the festival . So weird ...are we supposed to like him now? Why? Banu was quite giddy . She didn't bring her kid to the fair . I guess he has evaporated .

And yes, old Tahsin terrorizing that big cell mate ..really ? Beanie time . They showed Tahsin holding something at the guy's neck . It looked like a pen to me ! QTH. Is it a James Bond type pen ???

Amor Val

Thank you novelera for your great recap! Things are really moving along, and although some confusion still remains, I’m able to connect more of the dots. Honestly Mean daddy doesn’t need the help of Korhan or Suhan——-he’s got this! One whoosh of his evil wand, and he’s able to make things disappear. Not only does his “sixty-Ish” something self dominate other hardened criminals, but the man is ALWAYS thinking! Kinda looks like Albert Einstein when the wheels start turning in his head, those eyes of his become snake slits, and he plucks on that right eyebrow of his. You could say he’s a genius even! Shame he didn’t put all energy into being a good citizen instead of a low handed, dirty bully……..

The NERVE of Adalet! I TRULY do not like her, or how she skulks around all high and mighty! Suhan gave her the stink eye, WTF stare as she dared to tell them that they were awful kids, lol. Well BIHHHH, you murdered somebody, allowed your brother to go to jail for 30 yrs, and continue lie so that you can continue your present lifestyle! You also try to harass and manipulate people into doing Mean daddy’s bidding! One thing I will say for her, she does love Mean daddy! But that also amounts to a pile of timida-poop! Imho………Loved Mirhiban though! She is all that! “Now get out of my sight!” YAAAAAAASSSSSSS!

Cesur is hurting like nobody’s business, but is obviously able to put down some great sex when needed, lol! Suhan was knocked out! So much so that she didn’t see or feel his movement when he got up to leave and take Timida for a spin. I guess Suhan is exhausted too, though. This whole situation would make anyone tired as hell. I will confess ( no spoilers here) that I looked at the Turkish episode of the same, and they cut out some scenes here. Of course I don’t understand what they’re saying, but I can guess from the scene that I saw on Telemundo. I don’t like spoilers, so I don’t partake in future episodes, but some of what they cut out is significant, especially where Cesur’s state of mind is concerned…..

I really like Sirrin reaching out to Cesur, and letting him know that all of them miss and loved Fugen. I liked that she said they support him even though he gave her father a BIG piece of his mind! When you think about it, 45 days is not a long time. Fugen meant so much to him, and he not only didn’t, but couldn’t protect her in his eyes. Who would’ve thought that someone would go after Fugen? Especially in her condition?? So so cruel!!!

Bulent was kinda cute putting on a show for the kids…..are they trying to make him likable??? Until he confesses his crime and apologizes——-sincerely——- he’s still an asswipe. I also hope that he doesn’t hurt Banu. She really is a decent person——-human….

The DA is on the job! Leaving no stone unturned! I like that!

May your hand/hands heal novelera! And may we continue to receive the wonderful recaps that you write with those hands!

Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this excellent recap. And special thanks for including some useful Spanish.

I confess that I'm still a bit confused about the DA's point about the K watermark. Actually, I thought he said that all the letters had that watermark, but I wasn't paying careful attention. If only Adalet's letter had it, is he saying that Tahsin wrote and sent it, not thinking about the fact that it had the watermark suggesting "Korludag"? My assumption is that Riza may have deliberately sent one or more letters with that watermark (and somehow with the missing pen) to try to make it seem as if they were part of some Korludag plot. But I still don't have the feeling I understand what's going on.

I was surprised that in the flashback, Tahsin offered to pay for Bulent's education. Am I right that Mihriban refused his offer and told him to get lost?

I too found it somewhat strange that Tahsin was able to overpower the other prisoner, who is presumably considerably younger.

Well, good for Cesur. He doesn't lie and say he saw Tahsin make Sra. Fugen fall. I guess he figures that Tahsin's presence is enough to convict him. It's clear from the joyful look on Tahsin's and his lawyer's face that they assume it's not enough. I'm not quite sure how far into the dizi episode 39 is. If we're approaching the conclusion, perhaps we'll find Tahsin ironically convicted for a crime he didn't commit. If, however, there are still many episodes remaining, it's possible that he'll be found innocent of Sra. Fugen's death. I don't want to think about how Cesur will respond if that happens. Ditto Riza.

Thanks so much Juanita and novelera for the great recaps. I fell a bit behind in watching. Count me in with those on the patio of being annoyed with Suhan and her insensitivity of Cesur’s huge loss. Seeing his mom tumble down and splat right in front of him is worthy of the snits and anger. Suhan needs to be more understanding.

The prison football team made me laugh. I say again, Tashin looks like he is in summer camp and not prison.

Who is sending Riza notes via pills? Is it the mystery gloved hand who pushed the button and killed Fugen?

I am confused with the letters DA Cihan found with K’s and without K’s? The whole pen thing was also something I didn’t get. I guess I need to pay more attention and not watch Cesur jump on to Timidad over and over again.

I really appreciate you Juanita and novelera. Hope your hands are much better today novelera!

When Tahsin was holding that big guy down on the table , was he holding a pen to his neck ?

Wonder if Suhan is pregnant.

Thanks, all. Some of you work in the medical field. Thought I'd mention my hands again. There has been no pain from any of what I developed in the last year. On the left hand, I have Dupuytren's Contracture. That resulted in my pinky finger curling toward my palm at a 90-degree angle. On the right hand I had "trigger finger" that caused the middle finger to get stuck actually touching my palm (sort of the reverse of a bird flip). I could straighten it out, but it popped when I did so. In the morning upon waking up that middle finger was always in the curled-up position.

I had my annual physical in June and mentioned this to my fabulous internist, who's been my doctor since she looked like she was still in high school. She referred me to a hand surgeon. Whatever they plan to do on the left requires an OK from the boys at the insurance company. On the right, the cortisone shot worked very well. Every time one of these "issues" comes up in my body, I'm always grateful to have the medical care I have and sad to think how many people would just have to live with curled up fingers. The Dupuytren's can cause one's hand to become almost useless.

Carmella: Adalet! I hear ya! She drives me nuts as well. I get sick of that worried look on her face when it looks like she might have to "face the music" for shooting people. I don't expect her to survive at the end. And, of course, Tahsin is 100% guilty for telling her to pull the trigger. I think that's a legal definition of first-degree murder as well.

Juanita, ITA about the letters. DA Serhat had them in those evidence envelopes. But didn't he touch them when he took them out? We've heard of telenovela policing. Maybe this is dizi policing. But he did hold one, I thought the third, up to the light to show the watermark. I believe Korhan said anyone could have gotten a piece of the paper since they use it at the factories. But they showed a gloved hand doing something. Can't remember if actually writing.

Regarding the flashback, Mihriban did tell Tahsin to get out of her face. But he, as usual, insulted her saying her "pigeon brain" couldn't figure out what a great deal it was, and he'd send his lawyer. I presume this is when that "partnership" that the patio was amazed by happened. We couldn't believe she'd be in meetings with the guy who jilted her.

VVS, amen on re-watching Cesur's macho mount of Timida. I don't know where they get these horses in TNS and dizis. They are either amazingly well trained or drugged. They just stand there throughout long scenes and never bolt for the patch of grass out of camera range like a normal horse would do.

Thanks for the recap..I too missed a bunch cause I was sucked into the freak show of bad fashion. I tried but couldn't not figure out what Suhan was wearing and how she even got it on.

Quite the episode, and I look forward to a recap to explain all the twists and turns! The plot definitely thickens! I understand that Cesur is “over the edge,” but kidnapping Mean daddy was truly not a smart thing to do! I realize Cesur is acting on emotion and not thinking clearly, but he goes from 0-100 in a matter of seconds! His need to know the truth, and the mania he displays in trying to get those answers is mesmerizing! What mesmerized me even more was when that deadpan look also filled his eyes. It’s like he’s reached his limit, he’s done, and he doesn’t care one bit what happens to him. Just like those eyes of his could melt an iceberg, he can also be the iceberg, cold and uncaring. Even when Suhan threw the ring back at him, he stood emotionless, like he’s in robot mode. And who is the mysterious sharpshooter??? I thought too, that it might be Rifat, or Bulent even, but this reeks of Riza’s doing. Yet how could he know that Cesur was going to take him to the cliff——overlooking that beautiful ocean btw—-where Cesur’s father ultimately met his death? Salih is also suspect cause he’s just as crooked, cold blooded and twisted as Mean daddy!

I tried to feel bad for Suhan, cause this is an awful place for her to have to live in, but I couldn’t muster even a little bit. We know how much Mean daddy has done, and as far as I’m concerned, he deserves whatever he gets. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Mean daddy and Adalet, thought of the possibility of Cesur doing something like this and planned to have himself shot——just in case. Far fetched I know, but Mean daddy thinks of everything! And why would the sharpshooter throw the rifle openly in the woods where the possibility of it being found was almost a given??? Who’s trying to set up Mirhiban??? Is this revenge from Mean daddy for her not helping him??? My mind is all over the place, lol! Someone mentioned that Adalet would probably die, and from her and Mean daddy’s conversation at the festival when he said “till death do us part,” I thought, yeah, Adalet’s goose is cooked!

And what of Mean daddy telling Hasan, when they were boys that he was going to kill him?? Does that have anything to do with Cesur’s father??? Did they even know one another as boys??? So many questions and not enough answers just yet. And how telling is it that, after his near death experience, Mean daddy was just concerned with Suhan leaving Cesur? And why wouldn’t he agree to tell Cesur the whole truth as Suhan asked? I know he won’t implicate Adalet, but I’m sure that he has many scapegoats or believable lies that he could use. He’s a master at this game!

At least they haven’t dumbed down the DA……and why would Suhan go to see Rifat, of all people?? Did they get close while Cesur was away??? Glad to know that Rifat had no part in this, and is willing shut Cesur down while he goes all rogue and half crazy…….

Thanks very much, carmella, for getting the conversation started. However, I doubt that there will be a recap every day. Instead, those of us watching the dizi will offer comments, as you did tonight, and, when possible, try to respond to questions.

Well, having said that, here's a VERY bare bones recap of Episode #40:

The trial is postponed and Tahsin is released for lack of evidence.

Cesur kidnaps Tahsin, ties his hands, puts tape over his mouth, and drives to some scenic steep cliffs. He and Tahsin get out of the car. He asks Tahsin "How did you kill my mother?" We see two flashbacks, one of Fugen, the other of Adalet shooting Hasan.

We then see someone at a distance aiming a high-powered rifle at Cesur and Tahsin.

Tahsin insists that he killed neither Cesur's mother nor his father. As Tahsin's situation becomes more precarious, he says he can tell Cesur who killed his father. "It was an accident." We then hear a shot, and Tahsin is hit. A stunned Cesur looks around and tries to hold onto Tahsin to prevent his falling from the cliff. He eventually pulls Tahsin up.

The shooter drives off on a motorcycle. S/he rides into the woods and tosses the rifle away.

The police arrive at the scene of the shooting. An ambulance comes and transports the seriously wounded Tahsin to the hospital.

At the hospital, Adalet (hiss here) tells Suhan it's all her fault for not believing in her father from the start. Suhan tells Adalet that Cesur didn't shoot her father. Someone else tried to kill him.

The police determine where the shot was fired from. The DA says the shooter must have been a professional.

Several people suspect Rifat had something to do with the shooting. He is arrested at his garage, where he's helping his son, Kaan.

The doctor tells the waiting family that Tahsin is out of danger. They go into his room. He's sedated. There's a strange flashback that shows one young boy yelling at another young boy who is leaving. The first boy yells, "You'd better leave or I'm going to kill you, Hasan." Then, in the present, the sedated Tahsin mutters, "Hasan. I'm going to kill you, Hasan." Adalet, Korhan, and Suhan all try to pass this off as nonsense caused by the sedation.

A recovered Tahsin says he will not press charges against Cesur.

Suhan is still furious at Cesur and gives him back her wedding ring.

Tahsin tells Suhan, "I'm ready to forget everything. I didn't press charges. Leave that man." Suhan says she will if Tahsin will tell her everything. She mentions his threat to kill Hasan. Tahsin again insists that he didn't kill anyone.

A very upset Suhan goes to see Rifat and asks for his help. He says he's very angry right now at Cesur, but he'll do what he can. The episode ends.

There's more, but I'm running out of steam. Let me just say, carmella, that like you, I'm puzzled by the flashback of the two boys. I did not think that Tahsin knew Hasan when they were boys. I thought they met in the army. I also don't know what the DA meant in a scene near the end when he says to someone on the phone, "You say that 'Suhan Korludag' is written on the metal? How do you know it was from her shop? From the residue of paint and glass?" I have no idea what "metal" he's talking about.

Also, I assume that the shooter threw the gun away so that it would not be in his/her possession. Finally, how do you know that the cliff was where Hasan's car went over?

I hope this helps, and I hope people will add and correct.

Thank you Juanita! Awesome overview! I forgot to mention the Da’s final conversation, too, about the metal!!! Suhan’s shop produces glass items, so where does the metal fit in?? And what bearing does it have on this whole crazy mess???

Also, not sure if it’s the same exact cliff, but Cesur yelled at Mean daddy about how it feels to die on the same cliff where his dad met his fate. But he could’ve just been using it as some kind of symbolic reference…….

Thank you Juanita and Carmella for that rundown as Cesar fumes and Tahsin dangles from a cliff. I wonder if he ever wishes he would have just retired into a nice retirement community where he could terrorize his fellow retirees in peace.

What message was in the pill capsule delivered to Riza in prison ? Guy is BSC.

Is Rifat using tough love on Cesar ? I hope Kemel still has Cesar's back because right now he has lost his mother an also the support of Suhan and Rifat.

It was odd seeing Tahsin crouched over in Cesars car e but after a scene if Random winning and cuddling a stuffed toy . What is up with doing flashbacks of something that happened just a bit before ????

OT...Heatwave continues here...in the 90s again today.

Thanks VERY much, carmella and Susanlynn, for your insightful and delightful respnses.

Carmella, thanks for letting me know about Cesur's statement to Tahsin about the cliff being where Hasan died. I missed that when I watched the episode. And what you said about the "metal" was exactly what I wish I had said: "so where does the metal fit in?? And what bearing does it have on this whole crazy mess???" Perhaps we'll soon have a flashback or two to clue us in.

Susanlynn, I burst out laughing at your statement,"I wonder if he ever wishes he would have just retired into a nice retirement community where he could terrorize his fellow retirees in peace." And good point about Kemal's importance, with Fugen gone and Suhan and Rifat temporarily withdrawing their support. Also, I hope you'll soon have some relief from the heatwave that has hit so many places.

I have seen the word "Adalet" on the wall in the courtroom in this Show , and I just saw it on the outside of a government building in " La Hiya." I am wondering if it means " Justice."

Thanks for the quickie, Juanita. I needed it. Last night was Zoom Spanish from 8-10 pm. I started to watch the episode last night at 10:30, having it on auto-record. I got the end of a soccer game and some commercials. I kept FF>> and eventually the regular opening scene and theme music came up. As I had suspected, it cut off before the end. Since we are both on the West Coast, I was surprised you saw the whole thing. But maybe you don't DVR and watch later.

The note in the pill said "They released Tahsin Kordulag." Another deeply weird thing since the note was delivered before he was released on, I guess, his own recognizance. Turkish trials are even weirder than Mexican ones. No jury. No verdict. Just more time to review evidence.

His shooting targets at the festival and demanding his prize was galling. He can't just go home like a normal person given a reprieve, if a temporary one. No...he has to show off to the citizens of "his" town.

That francotirador (sniper) was very small and could have been female. The only thing that makes sense is that somehow Riza set it up. We've seen an accomplice on a motorcycle before.

I was a bit disgusted at Suhan. After all he's done, she's all crying and Papaing all over the place. She did get a moment there when he asked her to leave Cesur of wishing he were a different father.

Watching that scene of Hasan and Tahsin as boys I thought they were both in an orphanage and Hasan had been adopted. And this is why the left-behind Tahsin was so angry (jealous). They have said that Hasan had loving parents, the ones that Tahsin burned up. Could they have been adoptive parents? We know Tahsin grew up in an orphanage. And a man and a woman had Hasan by the hand and were leading him away from "somewhere".

Amor Val

Novelera, that is an interesting theory about Tahsin being angry and resentful because Hasan was adopted while he wasnt.

Thanks very much, novelera, for your interesting comments. In answer to your first point, yes, I do record the show, but I watch the program "live." I use the recording only as a backup. (To my surprise, my DVR continued to record for longer than usual to make up for the time that was lost due to the fútbol game, so it recorded the whole thing.)

Yes, the sniper did seem to be relatively small and could have been a woman. I wondered at first whether it was Kaan, Rifat's son. He's quite slender, he certainly was not pleased that Tahsin had been released, and he was talking about a motorcycle with Rifat. However, as you note, we've seen an accomplice on a motorcycle before, who was probably hired by Riza. I somehow can't imagine Riza hiring Kaan. Of course, if we find out that Kaan is a superb shooter....

Yes, I think Tahsin grew up in an orphanage, but I don't think Hasan did. His parents were still alive, I think, when Hasan went into the army. And IIRC in an earlier episode we learned that Tahsin met Hasan and seemed to befriend him when they were both in the army. So last night's strange flashback remains a mystery to me. This dizi loves to use flashbacks, and I expect we'll see one or more that will make what we've seen clearer.
