Part 1 of 2

Riza visits his sister in prison. He says “When someone loves their sister, they can’t harm them, but only suffer for them. Adalet: Why did you come? R: I only wanted to be free. A: The only thing you want is for me to betray Tahsin. R: In order to be free, you have to betray him, but once again you chose captivity instead of freedom. A. I chose the truth. This is why I’m here. R: What you call the truth is deficient and distorted. A: I’m content. Now I’m not living with fear. R. You’re not living. Here…inside…you’ll die. I spent half my life behind these walls and now I’m free. I want to live, but I don’t even know how. You two killed me. A: You only came to show your hatred, and now you’re trying to provoke me against Tahsin. It won’t work. R: You’re sacrificing yourself to protect the man who harmed your brother. What did I do to you, Adalet? I’m the one who should hate you, sister. You didn’t speak up when this man sent me to prison. You didn’t visit me in 30 years. You wished I’d die. A: You’re a stranger to me. R; Tahsin will forget you just like he forgot me. Only then will you remember your brother.

Suhan comes to Casa Korludag and Reyhan gives her the letter from her brother. Cesur is watching this from his hidden camera. “Suhan, my beautiful sister, don’t ever forget you’re my sister. I know you might even hate me, but you’ll realize it’s impossible to live as Korhan Korludag. I am the child who wasn’t wanted. No one except you loves me. I can’t bear more. I’m going to be with mamá.” We see Korhan take a handful of pills and wash them down with whiskey.

Cesur hears Suhan say to Reyhan that her brother is going to kill himself. Cesur catches up to her on the road and insists she ride with him.

Disgusting Tahsin tells the worm Bulent to stamp out the employee protests, to threaten them.

When Salih tells Tahsin that Reyhan has called him about Korhan, Tahsin just scoffs and shows no fear for his only son.

Cesur and Suhan find Korhan unconscious in the Istanbul apartment. Bulent comes to tell Cahide about the goodbye letter Suhan was sent.

The miserable bastard Tahsin doesn’t even read his son’s letter. He throws it into the fire.

The doctor tells Suhan and Cesur that they pumped Korhan’s stomach, and he’ll live. Suhan calls Sirin with the good news, not her father.

At the hospital Cahide tries getting in Suhan’s face about her rights to see her husband. Slap! [There were a lot more slaps in Hercai, but none was more deserved than this one.] Suhan: “You have no future with my brother. You destroyed him with your lies and your greed. I won’t let you hurt him anymore.”

Suhan tells Korhan not to forget that the soul of their mother lives within him. She reminds him of what their mother used to say: “The only great mistake is to give up without having fought.”

Part 2 of 2

Reyhan, Sirin and Kemal come to see Korhan. Korhan says he won’t give Tahsin the satisfaction of returning to his house. Cesur offers to take Korhan to his place. Thinking it over, Korhan reminds Suhan that Cesur owes them one. We are reminded that Cesur stayed at Casa Korludag after after the fire at his house. Korhan wants to go with Cesur, at least for a while.

Suhan arrives…somewhere…and is confronted by Tahsin who wants to know where Reyhan is. Suhan lets him know that Korhan is staying with Cesur. She tries to guilt the SOB by saying that Korhan hoped for a call from his father all day.

We see Korhan napping on the couch. [Riza is in the guest cottage; is this where Korhan has to sleep now?] Cesur takes Korhan to show him that he has a hidden camera. “Your father not only destroyed my family, but others. You know how cruel he is. Your father killed my mother and also yours.”

Suhan confesses to Sirin that she’s pregnant Siran tells Suhan that maybe the baby is a miracle that could solve all their problems.

Riza is talking with Hulya. He tells her he can see a victim by their eyes. And she doesn’t have those kinds of eyes. We don’t see where this confab with Hulya goes.

Korhan comes to see Tahsin. He says he asks only one question. “You don’t love me at all, right? “You’re right. You can’t be my blood because you’re a coward. You couldn’t even kill yourself.” Korhan: "You don’t know what it’s been like for me all these years, wondering if my father were a murderer. I had nightmares. How do I know that Adalet only confessed to protect you? She lied in court; she was not alone. I saw you with my own eyes. It was you who took the gun from Salih.”

Tahsin replies that he was there to save Adalet, so the death of Hasan would seem to be a suicide and so Adalet wouldn’t go to prison. Cesar hears this, as does Riza.

We see a flashback in which Cesur pressures Korhan to do what he did. Banu tells Cesur that what he saw might get Tahsin 3-5 years. Cesur says that 3-5 years isn’t his goal, but that sort of sentence might be like death for Tahsin Korludag.

Riza is told to begin the game. He approaches Salih saying he must bring them Tahsin.

Salih calls Tahsin and says that he’s watching Riza. Riza went to see the beggar and they went into the forest. Tahsin: “Don’t lose sight of them. I’m on my way.” Riza tells Salih to leave before Cesur can see him.

Suhan touches her belly and smiles. [Why did she come home after telling Mean Daddy he’d never see her again?]

Tahsin arrives and sees Salih. They go inside some building. Riza puts a gun to Salih’s head. And then Cesur comes in. “Korludag, come with me. I have a surprise for you.” There’s a laptop and Cesur shows him the recording of his conversation with Korhan where he says he saved Adalet from prison by making Hasan’s death seem like a suicide. “It will take me 20 minutes to take this to the DA; and it will take an hour, max, to send you to prison. I can turn you in right now. But if you say to me that you’ve seen prison life and don’t’ want to spend your old age there…” “What do you want?”

Suhan tells Sirin she wants to talk with Cesur. Maybe Sirin is right, and the baby is the miracle.

We see Tahsin sign some papers with a lawyer or a notary there as well. Cesur seems pleased. Hmmm.

Amor Val

Great recap novelera! Thank you! What a strange relationship Adalet and Riza have! If anything, I would like to see more flashbacks of their story. Why does Adalet hold her brother in such disdain, and have high regard for Mean daddy?! Riza has been in prison for 30 yrs, and she has seen Mean daddy at all his evil best firsthand! I don’t get her! She’s either blindly in love, or truly brainwashed! She’s been drinking Mean daddy’s kool-aid for years and relishing every drop! Sad! I don’t like or trust Riza, but after 30 yrs, she should give him the benefit of the doubt, and then let him prove himself. Still, blind loyalty is what Mean daddy requires and lives for.

Korhan is like a wounded animal , lost and helpless in a world created by his father. Mean daddy continues to DISGUST me at his treatment of his only son! Not an inch of empathy or sympathy for the childhood that he stole from Korhan. He continues to berate Korhan and call him names. Mean daddy only knows how to inflict pain and loyalty to him comes at a very high price! He is a TRUE NARCISSIST who takes responsibility for nothing and blames the things that he does on other people! Tahsin has no fear of God or man, except when Cesur had him dangling off that cliff. And even then he admitted to nothing. He would give everyone such peace if he would simply admit to his wrongs, and the part that he’s played in death of Hasan. As it stands, he really is hiding behind Adalet where Hasan is concerned, and will never admit what he did to Cesur’s grandparents. How low can you go Tahsin?. How low?!?!?!

Loved the true sibling love between Suhan ad Korhan! Suhan knows her father, and ABSOLUTELY knows what he’s capable of, yet she keeps pushing Cesur away for the sake of such a cruel and heartless man. It’s high time for her to stop appearing before Mean daddy, and love him from a distance——-cause she does indeed love him, warts and all, toad that he is……

Cesur is the man on the spot, and no matter how much Suhan pushes him away, he’s in her face, lol. Don’t think you’re getting away from Cesur , Suhan! He loves you, warts and all, lol! I’m glad that Suhan has decided to tell Cesur that she’s pregnant, but I wouldn’t count my chickens before they hatch. Cesur had quite the smug thing going on when Mean daddy was signing those papers, and you can bet your bottom dollar that that will come back to haunt him. Much as I adore Cesur, he also used a frail and emotional Korhan to achieve his goal, and imho, that just wasn’t right. Korhan needs to stay as far away as possible from Mean daddy and his chickenhead of a wife. Loved the vibrant CRACK smack across Cahide’s face from Suhan! Boy did she deserves that and so, so much more! Cahide is also a narcissist! I reiterate that she sure shoulda been Mean daddy’s daughter!!

As for the baby, what a heavy load to put on a child that isn’t even born yet! And even then, no child should have to carry the burden of his/her effed up parents and grandparents! Just look at Korhan! While I know that Cesur and Suhan will probably be great parents and shield their child from the BS created by Mean daddy, it’s still unfair to hope a child will fix all their problems……

I hate Riza more and more…….nuff said……..

Amor Val

Novelera, Thank you for that exce!lent account of last nights episode . Things are percolating .

I must say that in the previous episode , I enjoyed Cesar arriving on the scene like a boss and finding Korhan. Did Suhan question how Cesar knew about Korhan attempting suicide ( via the hidden camera)?

I was surprised that Cesar kind of pressured Korhan about Tahsin, but Cesar is a man on a mission , especially since his beloved mother was killed and he got his hair cut . How does Cesar know that Tahsin killed Kothan's bother ? Also, Tahsin is so disdainful of Korhan. Are we sure Tahsin is his father ? Bulent seems more like the rotten apple that fell from that evil old tree.

I wonder what those papers were that Cesar had Tahsin sign .

I hate scenes in which Riza ( I lust after your woman and killed your mama) is with Cesar . Riza always has a creepy look on his face.

amor-val

Thanks very much, novelera, for this excellent recap. It has helped me to see several things that I missed. I have just a few comments/questions.

When Suhan calls Sirin to tell her the good news about Korhan's recovery, she's asked "Who are you calling? Your father?" Suhan replies, "No. If he cared, he'd be here." We see how true that is when, as you say, "the miserable bastard Tahsin" tosses Korhan's letter into the fire without even reading it.

I think all of Viewerville must have cheered when Suhan slapped Cahide. I loved your comment "[There were a lot more slaps in Hercai, but none was more deserved than this one.]"

I too wondered when I saw Korhan sleeping on Cesur's couch. Is the couch the best Cesur could do?

I was surprised when Cesur told Korhan that Tahsin had killed Cesur's mother and also Korhan's. Does he mean this literally or figuratively? I have this vague memory of a flashback scene with Korhan and Suhan with their dying mother, who, IIRC, says something about having given up.

I'm glad you too could not see any point to Riza's remarks to Hulya. I was wondering whether I had missed something.

I was also wondering what the papers were that Tahsin reluctantly signed in the presence of a lawyer/notary. I don't even have a guess.

Amor Val

My theory on those infamous “signed papers” is that it must have something to do with the company? Did Cesur make Mean daddy sign over his % tage of the company through blackmail? Cesur was angry and upset about the firing of the workers, and especially when that worker’s sister killed herself……….Apparently Mean daddy had the majority of the shares……..

amor-val

Carmella, I really like your theory about the papers Cesur made Tahsin sign.

amor-val

Carmella, I agree that Riza and Adalet are not as close as I am to my 3-years-younger brother in Ohio! It hasn't been made clear if they were in the same orphanage. Also, I have a vague memory of a younger Riza helping the slimy orphanage director traffic girls. That could be a false memory since it's not a clear one. But he was addicted to drugs. Addicts often do things that could forever estrange them from their families. I am sure Korhan will get to be the father he never had himself to the bun in Cahide's oven. Whether she's in the picture or not remains to be seen. I actually think she does love her husband. It was a sort of tolerate his less than splendid intellect kind of love, at least in the beginning. I have a feeling that, after she produced Hulya's baby, she planned to shower him with affection. But the awful way she collaborated with Hulya, at least to me, makes me want this to be a divorced parenting situation for the baby.

Juanita: I agree. I wasn't sure if that is where Korhan is to sleep going forward or if that was just a post-medical-emergency nap. Another odd thing about that guest cottage: when Cesur and Suhan "got busy" there, it was a double bed and kind of a nice room. Now Riza has a single and it looks a lot like his cell. Like Carmella, I think Tahsin may have signed over some of his "empire" to avoid going to prison. That time he spent there was a truly hard blow to his huge ego. I don't think he'd be able to get the upper hand in prison during a long stretch there as he did in the short one. OTOH Cesur just might have had Tahsin agree to letting the workers unionize. But that's more unlikely than Carmella's theory.

Susanlynn: You are in fine form today. Loved Cesur "on a mission since his beloved mother was killed and his hair was cut". We all wonder about the papers. Yes, Riza certainly has plenty of reasons to be vengeful, but there's a creepy, enjoying things too much aspect to him. And any sympathy I might have had for him went out the window with that ghastly idea of killing poor Fugen to fire up Cesur.

I'll put up a relatively brief recap later tonight.

I am now officially Team Banu. Kick Sulky Suhan to the curb, y ya, Cesur!

Amor Valiente Episode #47 p. 1 of 2

Cesur tells Tahsin that now that he's signed all the papers, he can leave. "You no longer have any rights in this company." Tahsin promises, "You'll regret the day you were born." Tahsin steps outside the office and sees Korhan. "You're a traitor," he tells Korhan. "I'll make you pay for everything." Having apparently grown a new pair of avocados, Korhan replies, "The Korhan before you is not the one you knew."

Sirin has come in to clean the room where Riza is staying. She sees that no one is around, so she does what she does best: she snoops. She goes through the drawers of the chest, then she looks under the bed. There she finds a small sports bag. She opens it. Bingo! She finds Riza's Suhan Scrapbook! She starts looking through it, doing so so intently that she doesn't hear Riza come into the house. He sees the door to his room partly open, and Sirin looking at all the clippings of Suhan. He comes in. She looks up with a mixture of fear and defiance.

Back at Casa Tahsin, Reyhan comes outside and sees a baby carriage with a baby inside. Hulya, hidden, watches.

Suhan arrives at the office. Cesur and the lawyer are talking. Cesur says that from now on, no one will work more than their standard hours. Also, Korhan is our main representative. Suhan comes into the office. "Where's my father?" she asks. The lawyer leaves. Cesur tells her, "Now this is my place. Tahsin Korludag no longer has anything to do with the business. He transferred all his shares." Suhan asks for an explanation. Cesur tells her, "Go ask your father." Suhan is not pleased. "What makes you different from the person you condemn?" she asks. "Congratulations, you won the war but you lost me forever. I never want to see you again. You're my biggest disappointment." Korhan overhears most of this. Suhan leaves and heads for her car. She faints before she can open the door.
Both Cesur and Korhan rush over to her. Cesur tries to bring her to consciousness, while Korhan calls an ambulance.

Riza seems to be burning the contents of the Suhan Scrapbook. Kemal comes by and asks whether Riza has seen Sirin. Riza tells him she said she was going to see her mother. Kemal thanks him and leaves. Back inside Riza's room, Riza sees what look like blood stains on the rug. He tries to wipe them off.

At Casa Tahsin, one of the women who works there finds a note in with the baby: "This baby belongs to the Korludag. Cahide knows everything."

Suhan is in the hospital. She says she's fine. Both Cesur and Korhan want the doctor to do more tests to be sure all is well. Cesur has stepped out of the room. The doctor tells Korhan that both mother and baby are doing well. "Baby?" asks Korhan. The doctor asks Suhan whether she knew she was pregnant. She nods that yes, she knows. The doctor leaves. Suhan tells Korhan not to say anything to anyone. Korhan tells her that, as the father, Cesur has the right to know. Suhan replies, "He did. I had some hope. But what he did today destroyed that hope." Cesur comes back into the room and says the doctor refused to tell lhim anything because he wasn't a relative. Suhan tells him the doctor acted correctly. Cesur leaves. Korhan insists that Suhan is making a big mistake. "I helped Cesur buy the company," Korhan tells her. Stunned, she says, "He married me to destroy the family. Even if we're ashamed of him, Tahsin Korludag is our father." Korhan replies, "I didn't do it for Cesur, Suhan. I did it for me."

Meanwhile, at Casa Tahsin, Tahsin is searching all over for the hidden camera that let Cesur see and hear him. He finds it and stamps on it over and over again.

Ep. #47 p. 2 of 2

Suhan comes to see Tahsin. An employee says Tahsin has left word he's not to be disturbed. The employee also tells Suhan that there's something in the kitchen Suhan should see: a baby and a note. "Does my father know?" "No."

The next thing we see is Tahsin wanting to talk to Cahide. Reyhan calls Cahide. She says she's coming.

Kemal is upset at not finding Sirin anywhere.

Riza tells Cesur that he thinks he deserves some of Tahsin's shares in the company. Cesur replies, "We didn't buy them for us. At the right time, they'll go to Suhan, Korhan, and the workers." Riza accuses Cesur of not caring because he's rich. Cesur gives him money. "I don't want charity," Riza says. "It's not charity. It's for the work you've done. An advance."

Cahide comes to see Tahsin. He's furious with her. "As of today, you'll call me Mr. Tahsin." He orders her to bring him the woman who gave birth to the baby.

Someone tells Salih that his daughter Sirin has been missing since the morning. We then get a FLASHBACK. Riza confronts Sirin. She says she's taking the contents of the Suhan Scrapbook to Cesur. They struggle. She falls and hits her head. Riza calls someone. "Something bad happened. I need you to help me."

Cahide comes to see Hulya. Hulya is pleased that Tahsin wants to see her.

Cesur, Korhan, Reyhan, and Suhan are all searching for Sirin. Riza offers to help. Cesur tells him to search the route to the town.

Hulya comes to see Tahsin. "What kind of mother are you?" he asks her. "I did it because Cahide wanted me to," she replies. "The child will be miserable with me. His father is in prison." She says she'll take the child to an orphanage. Tahsin says, "May life punish you. The baby can stay here."

No one finds any sign of Sirin. Suddenly, Sirin appears coming out from the house. "Where were you?" they ask. "I'll tell you everything," she says. Then we have another FLASHBACK. Riza calls Salih. Then Salih is with Sirin, who is lying down in a doctor's office. Sirin says, "Riza called you? How do you know him?" She remembers the Suhan Scrapbook. "Who is he, Papá? What does he want from Suhan?" Salih tells her that Riza doesn't want anything. He's like Cesur. (He then looks around to be sure no one is nearby.) "He is also one of Sr. Tahsin's enemies." Sirin says, "He'll get what he deserves when I tell Suhan and Cesur. He'll have to deal with them." Salih says forcefully, "Don't tell them! If you do, you'll destroy me. Riza knows a lot about me. Bad things. Don't ask. I can't tell you. You don't want to know." We then get another brief FLASHBACK. Salih says to Riza, "You shouldn't have brought Sirin into this." Riza replies, "If she hadn't meddled, nothing would have happened. If she loves her father, she'll keep quiet." Salih threatens, "If anything happens to Sirin, I'll kill you, Riza."

Suhan is surprised that the baby is still in the Korludag house. Tahsin explains, "My conscience wouldn't let me send him back with that woman. His own mother doesn't want him, and his father is in prison. Reyhan can take care of him. She took care of you, she can take care of the baby. Suhan teases him about his wanting a grandchild. Tahsin replies, "You will give me a grandcild. But first we must get rid of Cesur Alemdaroglu. Then you can marry a decent man."

Cahide comes to the office and is told that Korhan has changed offices. He is now in Sr. Tahsin's old office. "Oh, Why?" She goes to find Korhan and sees them putting up a gold plaque with his name next to the door. Korhan is sitting at the desk with a very pleased look on his face. We see Cahide looking at the plaque as the episode ends.

Awesome recap Juanita! Thanks for your attention to detail! Some surprising turn of events in this episode! But first, Suhan, CALLATE TU BOCA! Like novelera, I’m done with the sulkmeister, and saying things that she has no idea what she’s talking about! At this rate, her baby is gonna be sadder than Cahide’s!

Anyhoo, Korhan surprised me! I thought that Cesur took a little advantage of him, but Korhan caught that ball and is running with it! Already had his name plate put on the door of Mean daddy’s previous office, and seems very happy in his new position……then Mean daddy??? who woulda thought that he’d be so willing to take Huyla’s baby boy in!??!?! Quite the cute baby too!

Sirin is so nosey, but I’m glad she knows what she knows, and knowing her, she won’t be able to keep her trap shut for too long, lol! Looks like Salih traded one prison for another, making a pact with Riza. With everything that Salih knows about Mean daddy, he shoulda went rogue on Mean daddy’s behind! You just made a deal with another devil, Salih. Stupid move and I’m sure you will pay for it. Glad Sirin is ok though. She’s the resident rooster and is needed to bring certain things to a conclusion……..

I think Cesur is becoming more and more wary of Riza………and Riza don’t want none of Cesur’s wrath and drop kicking skills! But I hope Cesur gives it to him good! It’s coming, especially when he finds out that Riza had all those pics of his beloved Suhan. Deja Vu with Riza burning those pics——- like Aslan burning those pics of Reyyan……..

Amor Val

Juanita , thank you for the recap of an upsetting episode .

Carmella, I always enjoy your comments on the crazy.

I was sure that when Riz was standing outside the house that Sirin would have put back the Suhan Scrapbook and be innocently vacuuming his room. ...but ..yikes ...he saw her snooping .., and she saw him seeing her..uh oh. Then, later when he was trying to wipe up the blood , I was sure that he had killed her ( I wouldn't put it past that stone cold heart and unsmiling face ) , and I wondered where the body was ...under the bed ? Then, sweet Kemel asked him if he had seen her . Well, I was shocked to see that she was alive at the end.

And silly Suhan ..despierta. Dad is a demon , and Cesar is the galan who can save you from that evil force. Suhan faints . This girl has hit the ground or been hit in the head so often And just keeps ticking and looking great in that model's wardrobe. . Girl is made of titanium.

Oh well, it is all a week or ride away from reality . Onward we go.

Tahsin says baby Hulygan can stay ... poor baby . Now his is July an going to stay in the scripts?

I enjoyed watching Tahsin , the terror , tap dancing all over that bug Cesar planted.

Bulent...boo. Why are you still here?

Our heatwave continues . Stay cool and safe everyone .

amor-val

Thanks VERY much, carmella and Susanlynn, for your delightful and insightful comments. (Hmmm, wonder if I should try my hand at rap lyrics that include the rhyming "delightful" and "insightful." Nope.)

Carmella, I loved "sulkmeister" to describe Suhan. It's the perfect word! As is "resident rooster" to describe Sirin. Yes, Cesur would be quite freaked at Riza's Suhan Scrapbook, but even without that, I think he'll go postal when he finds out about what Riza did to his mother.

Susanlynn, I too feared that Sirin was dead when I saw Riza trying to clean up the bloodstains. I still don't understand how Sirin could suddenly come out the front door of what looked like Cesar's house without anyone having seen her go in. Oh well, details, details. And I loved your describing Tahsin "tapdancing" on the spy camera.

I hope the heat that's broiling so much of the country abates soon. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I live in one of the few unaffected areas: California's coastal Bay Area. Of course, we've got our own set of serious problems.

amor-val

Thanks so much, Juanita. You got it all and with style!

I am enjoying Cesur's coup d'etat. He hired back all the employees Tahsin let go and insisted on normal work weeks. They didn't explicitly say so, but the remark about working hours made me think the awful Tahsin was planning to cut the work force by half and make the ones he kept work 60-hour weeks.

I am SO over the pregnant woman fainting meme. I certainly did not. And no female acquaintance of mine has ever mentioned this. My main symptom was wanting to sleep 10 hours a day. I was fortunate in being pregnant back in the stone age when one salary, my husband's, enabled me to stay home almost the whole time.

Riza did do a good job cleaning up that blood. Salih, pfft! He has done a lot of awful things for Tahsin. He needs some jail time for it. I don't care if he is Reyhan's husband and Sirin's father. They've shown Reyhan as being a warm and loving person. It's surprising he seems to have kept his evil doings from her all this time.

Also, que the hell? Tahsin just blithely says that Reyhan can now take care of Hulya's spawn? Of course, in these dizis middle aged women all adore babies and wouldn't mind this a bit. Ha!

I could definitely see the wheels spinning in Cahide's greedy little head. The "man that got away" is now the big cheese. And she needs to figure out a way to get him back. I fear they'll "go there" but I don't want him to take her back, pregnant with his baby or not.

amor-val

I hope these writers didn't forget the opening scene. Cahide had put a piece of barbed wire under Timida's saddle. Does she deserve getting Korhan back after trying to kill his much loved sister?

OT

Dondi, if you're looking at our comments, I thought I would mention I watched two episodes of a dizi called Resurrection: Ertugrul on Netflix last night. It's apparently been a huge international success. But the number of episodes and seasons is a bit off putting. It takes place in the 13th century. The Christians appear to be the bad guys. They are mentioning another crusade. Men have done some stupid things throughout history, as we well know, but that idiocy of "taking back the Holy Land" was pretty high on the list. The hero, also named Engin, like our guy from Fatmagul, is very good as a heroic warrior type.

amor-val

Thanks very much, novelera, for your always interesting comments. I too find the fainting woman meme not in keeping with what I and my friends and colleagues experienced. Like you, I was tired a lot, especially in the first few months. I never had the food cravings that seem to be another well-established meme, though I did find some foods unexpectedly unappealing. I have no idea whether the fainting meme is as common in reality as it is on TV. Even La Reina del Sur made use of it.

I haven't been on Team Cahide since episode 1, when, as you say, she tried to do in Suhan. However, I have a hard time imagining Korhan raising their child by himself. As hard as it is to swallow, we may have to watch her be redeemed. :-(    (I wish I could figure out how to get real emojis to show in my comments, rather than these old ASCII substitutes.)

Amor Val

OT...Novelera, I have not watched Resurrection on Netflix. it is about the real guy who started the Ottoman empire . I have seen some of the sequel "Kurulus Osman"starring Burak Ozcivit who was in "Amor Eterna" on Univision. . I wish it would come to Netflix. Osman is the son of Ertugal. Lots of horse riding , swordfighting , and intrigue and a fascinating piece of Turkish history and look into the culture .

In my 4 pregnancies , I think I only felt dizzy once when hub and I went out for a late dinner and I sudden!y felt off but never fainted. During one pregnancy hot food didn't appeal to me for awhile and I craved oranges and salads .

OT Ertuğrul

I know all about this show. It’s a huge hit. IIRC, Deb liked it a lot. But I’m in the minority. Thirty or so eps into the first season and I couldn’t go on. I thought it was boring. It doesn’t help that I think Engin Altan Düzyatan is a boring actor. Again, I’m in the minority. BTW, the two Engins starred together in a crazy “Midyat” dizi, “Bir Bulut Olsam”. Engin Altan was the good guy and Engin Akyürek was the bad guy.

I’d rather start watching Burak Özçivit in “Kuruluş: Osman”. Then I won’t care if the story is boring if I’m watching Burak. “Osman” has been renewed for a fourth season in Turkey. It’s already reached 98 Turkish eps.

I also think I was spoiled by Magnificent Century and MC Kosem. Those are still the best “Ottoman” dizis I have ever seen.

hi dondi!

novelera- I watched all 5 seasons of Resurrection:Ertugrul (Dirilis Ertugrul), yes it's daunting but like a good book, sometimes more is better. Aside from a great story, one of the factors that pulled me in was the history of the middle east, it's fascinating.

Susanlynn- I also watched the first 2 seasons of Kurulus Osman (the sequel) although watching Ertugrul between them really disoriented me. Sounds like you also love a hard ride through the forest and a good sword fight.

aside from the Ottoman's history, the best story of all was "Destan", (starring Ebru Sahin from Hercai, she is amazing) This is one of those rare novela's where the writers got it right, from the first episode to the last I kept asking myself, how will this end? (one season so far)

it takes place in the 8th century while the turks are still in central asia and have not converted to Islam.

(it's a bit heavy on the backstory at start but not to worry, they keep coming back to it)

and it's a love story.

OT...I have watched the first two seasons of Kurulus Osman. Burak is amazing as the charismatic Osman. His horseriding and sword fighting skills are unbelievable . Some of the things he does look very dangerous . This show takes a lot of physical strength . At the same time, it is a love story which Burak also excels at . He makes the love story feel real. The costumes and scenery are fantastic. I have to get back to season three soon. I wish it would come to Netflix with dubbing or suntitles.

Hi deb!

I watched Destan, too. I liked it, although it got a little weird in some places. Not your typical protagonists—a female warrior and a prince with a disability. Ebru Şahin does a 180 from her role on Hercai. Wow. They left us with a big cliffhanger.

Deb, so nice to hear from you! You seem to have gone Turkish all the way. We miss you on the Spanish language ones. Maybe La Reina del Sur 3 will draw you back in.

Dondi, thanks for all the great ideas. I have a hard time imagining Engin Akyurek as a bad guy. He was so wonderful in Fatmagul. I watched about 3 episodes of Kara Para Ask and thought it was very good. But I just didn't have time to watch that and keep up with the ones on Telemundo, occasionally recapping.

I like me some swashbuckling, but I don't think I can spend the time on Resurrection. And the Templars and other Christians are so evil that it's hard to take. From what I saw, it also looks like Ertugrul's brother is going to betray him. I really hate family betrayals, although I should be used to them by now, especially after Mukkades escapades in Fatmagul.

Where can one watch Destan?
