La Herencia, #14, Monday 08/01/22, The guacamole hits the fan

In his drunken haze, Mateo accuses Juan of having stolen the love of his life.

Juan asks what he’s talking about, but then gets distracted when he notices the bottle of wine. Simon has no clue about it, so Juan asks Lucas to call for Modesto. Mateo tells Juan he never wanted to betray him, and Simon tries to get him to shut up. Modesto arrives to say he took out all the alcohol from the house, so Simon asks if he searched for Deborah’s room, too. He hasn’t, so Juan and Simon leave in a huff.

Cornelio threatens Pedro with a gun, accusing him of attempted murder, but Pedro easily grabs the gun, removes some of the bullets, and spins the cylinder. He then hands Cornelio the gun and forces him to point it at him – a good old game of Russian Roulette, played in the middle of the town. While doing all of this, he also tries to “encourage” Cornelio by saying that if he were to kill him, he would deprive Tadeo of his father, too.

Cornelio moves the gun away from Pedro’s body and shots into the pavement (it would have fired, which startles Pedro), saying that he won’t risk going to jail and have Tadeo lose his dad, that much is true. Pedro says he’d be so happy if Cornelio died today and they get into it over who is more pitiful, with Pedro mentioning how he should thank Cornelio for freeing him from Beatriz. Cornelio raises the gun to Pedro again, this time to his chin, with Pedro encouraging him to fire (how many bullets has he removed?)

Sara is visiting with Bea (Paloma is also there). Bea wants to know about Sara’s life, did she really come to the ranch for the money? And how does she really feel about Juan, Paloma asks? These women barely know one another, but they’re already getting into very intimate conversations… women bonding, I guess… Sara says she only wanted to meet her brothers at first and tries to play the fool about Juan for a bit, but she eventually admits she felt something special for him from day 1.

The girls then ask about her relationship with her father and Sara explains that he never took care of her as a father. Then she imagines what she would have told him if she had the chance. In her make believe fantasy Severiano apologizes and tells her to forget about her feelings for Juan, because she will get hurt. She asks what can she do then, and Seve says that if she can’t let go, then she has to fight for him with everything that she’s got. Then Seve, the Wise Ghost disappears and Sara starts to cry, while Bea and Paloma comfort her.

Juan and Simon find Deborah downstairs and go off on her, accusing her of having given the wine to Mateo. Deb plays dumb, of course, she’s even drinking a tea right now because there is no more wine in the house. This makes Simon lose it and he starts dragging her out of the house. Juan interferes and stops Simon, but eventually asks Deb to wait outside while he investigates if she is really guilty and decides what he has to do. She warns they can’t push her around and expect her not to fight back. Juan insists she needs to get out.

Rosa and Bertha talk about Salvador and Prospero being good friends, a relatonship Rosa disapproves of. Bertha mentions how men always cover for one another, so maybe Salvador was covering for Prospi. She also suggests they go check that place out. Jamas! Rosa declares.

Outside the house Deb calls Dante to tell him she was kicked out. She’s furious with the brothers, but also with Sara, she can’t even reach her to complain.

Speaking of, Sara is still with her insta besties, Paloma and Bea, this time talking about how the three of them have been raised: Sara without a father, Paloma without a mother and Bea without any of her parents. The bonding is interrupted by Cornelio storming in and dragging a sleeping Tadeo from his bed. The women try to stop him, but Sara sees Cornelio has a gun and gets scared. After Cornelio leaves with the child in his arms, Sara warns Bea about the gun and Bea drops to the floor, bawling.

Back in Mateo's room, Modesto and Lucas are putting him back to bed, when Juan arrives to tell his brother what he's doing is not OK. Mateo completely loses it, does Juan think what he is doing is better? Juan is confused, so Mateo accuses him of stealing Julieta from him. Lucas and Simon try to drag Juan away, but he pushes them back and demands an explanation from Mateo. And that he gets: Mateo says Julieta is the love of his life and he, Juan, stole her from him. QUEL ESCANDALO!

Bea is afraid Cornelio will do something to Tadeo, while both Paloma and Sara try to get her to calm down. Paloma assures her Cornelio would never harm the boy, but Bea wants to call the police. Sara tells Paloma to go check at the bar, see if Cornelio didn’t take Tadeo over there. If that won’t be the case, they can call the cops in the morning (were this a real kidnapping, the morning would be a bit late, me thinks). Paloma leaves and Sara sticks around to take care of a hysterical Beatriz.

Juan doesn’t get what Mateo is saying about Julieta, they never even dated. Yes, they have, Mateo declares, but Juan never realized it because he was too focused on his work. And all that he’s ever tried to do was protect his big brother, their leader… But he can’t do it anymore. Juan asks why did he hide this from him and Mateo says Julieta never loved him as much as she did Juan. Simon adds his unrequested opinion, blaming Juan of being oblivious to how much pain Mateo is experiencing because he is so wrapped up in everything concerning Sara. Juan pushes Simon, realizing he knew about this, wants to know who else was in the know. Lucas and Modesto sure were. Mateo adds that he is a loser, he lost the woman he loved and Juan stole her from him. Simon asks him to breathe deeply, try to avoid an anxiety attack. Juan storms off and Modesto adds that had Juan known about his relationship with Julieta, he would have never pursued her. Mateo still feels guilty for having betrayed his brother. The man is a whiny mess, which complimenets his dullness so well.

Deb is still outside when Pedro arrives and she tells him her version of why she’s there. If they want to go to war, she’s up for it. Pedro mocks her, but Deb warns that Sara might just want a family, but not her. Pedro calls her a bitch and walks away.

Juan gets to the study, screeching his teeth, talking to Severiano’s portrait about not being able to handle things anymore.

All of Adela’s flowers from the shop are now in the house. Very sad dinner talk among the family. Augie mentions his confrontation with Rosa, and Adela gets more upset. Dulce and Brandon talk about the app they created to sell flowers around town. They end up on a positive note, feeling happy they have love and health, that’s all they need. Brandon offers to help out, but Adela wants him to continue with school. He promises he will work hard to be a good man and so does Bryan.

Later Adela tells Bryan and Augie she is worried about Brandon dropping out of school. But she is very excited to see how the new flower app will work. Adela promises she will take great care of how she spends their money and Augie will help her find a new shop. United forever.

Lucas, Simon and Modesto are still trying to get Mateo to sober up, when Pedro arrives to ask what happened. He finds out Juan and Julieta used to date, asks Mateo why did he keep the fact that they were lovers a secret. Mateo says they were never lovers, Modesto asks Pedro to stop torturing his brother. Pedro asks if he tried to kill himself for Juli and Mateo admits it. Pedro is almost impressed with how clever Juli turned out to be, playing with both brothers. Mateo tries to defend her, while Modesto asks Pedro to stop making things worse than they already are. Things are already the worst, Pedro declares. The Patio agrees and we’re all here for it.

Bea is trying to call Cornelio, again, but his phone is still off. She feels guilty, asks the Virgen to forgive and help her, she’s so sorry. Paloma calls to say that she found Cornelio and Tadeo, who is already peacefully asleep (it took some work, but Paloma managed to calm him down). Bea wants to go get him, but Paloma thinks it’s better not to wake up the child yet again, wait for the morning, she will take good care of Tadeo in the meantime. Bea is torn, she has never been away from her child, but understands this is the last thing Tadeo needs. Sara offers to stay with Bea, but Bea is too sad, she’d rather be alone, it wouldn’t be the first time she ends up crying and all alone.

And it’s a good thing that Sara leaves, because another drama is waiting for her at the ranch. She finds Deb outside and gets an earful about what happened. Simon threw her to the ground, treated her like a dog and Juan? No, he didn’t defend her, they are all a bunch of unscrupulous machos. Sara gets very upset, goes inside the house, screaming for the brothers to show up. Simon, Pedro and Lucas come down the stairs and they get into it. This is her house, too, Sara states, they don’t have the right to throw her mother out. She asks to talk to Juan (he’s still in the study, looking ruffled). Pedro explains that Juan should be left alone now, poor thing just found out Mateo and Julieta have been involved.

Simon is not happy Pedro shared private information about their family. Sara says she’s not going anywhere since this is also her home, Simon should be the one to leave if he’s so unhappy. Simon says she is finally showing her true self and while she is defending Deb, Juan joins the party, asking what is going on. Sara asks why did they throw Deb out, that was not their deal. Juan says deals go both ways and Deb broke the agreement to respect the rules in the house when she gave Mateo a bottle of wine. This is news for Pedro, too, who threatens Deb. Deb says it wasn’t her, Mateo found the wine by himself, he’s an alcoholic. Sara asks the brothers to stop messing with her mother but Juan insists that if she was the one who gave Mateo the alcohol, she will have to leave the house. Sara looks at her mother with distrust, she obviously realizes Deb is capable of doing that and worse.

Rosa is still feeling bad, so Bertha suggests they check out the invitation list for the wedding. Rosa only cares about the “well to do guests”, then calls for Prospi to get his list of people he wants to invite at the wedding, but finds out from Julieta he's not home. She wants to talk to her mother in private. She tells her she needs her so much, she can’t stand Sara anymore, she is getting closer and closer to Juan.

Rosa comforts Julieta in her own way, too much crying will ruin that lovely porcelain face. Juli asks for some real TLC, but Rosa thinks she shouldn’t worry, soon enough she will marry Juan, have a splendid honeymoon, live at the ranch as a queen, have some babies… What more can she want? Juli wishes that were true, but she’s not so sure about it. Rosa repeats how bad crying can be for the skin, Juli could wake up with big swollen eyes. To sleep now! But Julieta doesn’t look comforted at all.

Dante arrives and Deb explains she was the one to call to ask if the brothers can threaten to throw her out. Juan declares Dante is being paid by the Del Monte family and has to protect their interests, or else he will get fired, isn’t that right? Dante has no other option but to agree, he’s only here to explain to Deb she has no power in this house. This rubs Deb the wrong way, especially when Dante reaffirms his loyalty to Severiano and his sons. Sara says she is giving her mother the power in the house and since the lawyer is here, maybe he could explain if the men can become violent to women just like that.

Looking fed up with the whole thing, Juan declares that nobody else in the house is ever allowed to put a hand on Deborah or any other woman. And asks Simon to apologize. Simon would rather leave the house, which enrages Juan and prompts Pedro to ask him to apologize, too – no more fighting between the brothers! Simon says “disculpe” but I think he’d rather burn off one of his many turtlenecks than actually feel sorry for what he did.

Brandon and Dulce are in town, walking and talking about his father’s abandonment. The guy left when he was very young, he will never forgive him. Then they talk about both being single and we can see that Brandon has some compliments scribbled on his hand – he tells them to Dulce and asks her to be his girlfriend. She accepts.

When they are alone, Sara asks Deb if she gave Mateo the wine. She denies it, Simon made it all up, the adoptados would be capable of anything to get her out of the house. Sara doesn’t think Simon would go this far, but Deb thinks he’s crazy, he’s no psychologist, he’s a psychopath (heh). Sara begs her mother to behave, this is turning out to be so much harder than she thought. Why isn’t she going back to their apartment, now that the debs are paid? No, Deb has to stand by her daughter, protect her.

Propsi arrives to talk to Deborah. Sara is surprised, what about? Prospi says it’s personal and Sara gets that something is off. Deb explains to Sara that she and DON Prospero (LOL) had a meeting scheduled and she forgot to mention it to her. They are going to talk about their future partnership. Sara asks with what money, Deb says she has a financial strategy in place. Prospi confirms this is why they are meeting and Deb invites him to go talk in the study. Sara would rather they take it elsewhere, Juan might get upset, but Deb says it will only be a second. She won’t walk on eggshells all day long because of Juan. And off their go to the Dearly Departed’s sainted office.

Salvador thinks Cornelio should take Tadeo back to his mom. Cornelio is feeling bad, he still loves Bea; Salvador asks him to look at how much Paloma is hurting without her mother, should Tadeo go through the same thing? Cornelio can’t forget her betrayal, but he still loves his wife, why can’t Bea just ask him for his forgiveness? (Dude is delusional) Salvador says such betrayal can’t be forgiven, Bea needs to pay for what she’s done, just like his wife has (Huh??). And the well-meaning uncle turns into a bug eyed nutso in the split of a second.

Juan is paying a midnight visit to Julieta. He demands to know what happened between her and Mateo and why would she keep it hidden? Did she cheat on him? Juli says they were together long before she and Juan ever got involved, but Juan doesn’t want to hear it, he says they are done. This would seem like a stretch in normal circumstances, but since they were already on a break and he’s probably looking for a way out anyway...

Thank you for your recap, Adriana. Your title is perfect; the Juli/Mateo guacamole, especially, hit the fan.

There was nothing in Seve’s will that required Deborah to live at the hacienda, and Sara is not a minor, so really they just need to show Deb the door, unceremoniously, and set the dogs on her if she comes back. Sara has no authority to give her mother power or the right to be in that house, either. Hel-lo?!? But it fuels the story, so we roll with it.

”The man is a whiny mess, which complements his dullness so well. “ Amen. He is such a victim and must self-anesthetize. Ya basta! I hope he gets sober soon, or at least by the end of this telenovela. I'm so over Mateo.

Amber alert? Really, Sara? They know who took Tadeo and have a pretty good idea where to find him. The police have bigger fish to fry.
** Telenovela BINGO rules question: Does this count as "Kidnapping"?

And speaking of the devil, not long after taking Tadeo, Corny is at the bar sobbing into his whatever, which begs the question: who on earth is home babysitting Tadeo? That child is too young to be left home alone, especially at night. Corny, do not mention "quality time" with your son, ever.

Typical ‘telenovela rules’ contrast between Adela’s family, poor but they all love and care about each other, and the rich Del Montes who are at each others’ throats and so unhappy on a daily basis.

While Sara was walking up to the hacienda and encountered Deb out front, that blouse was open all the way to the waist. Again,,,,why bother? At least she had it buttoned to just below her bra when she entered the house. She might have won the argument if she had just left it all unbuttoned. #distraction-by-black-lacy-bra.

I am still fascinated...or fixated...with Pedro's chains. Telenovela wardrobe dept. does everything for a reason. Could it represent Pedro chained to his anger, resentment, and insanity, like a slave or prisoner?

Adriana, thanks. Great title. Loved “insta besties.”

doris, I think it is up to us if we want to call it a kidnapping. I say YES. What do you think?

Sorry, but I have to say I have never seen a group of more unattractive male brutes in a novela, movie, novela, etc. Now we even have Salvador telling crazy Cornelio that Beatriz has to pay for what SHE did to him just like he wife had to pay???

Why would any mother (Beatriz) in her right mind and a brain in her head allow herself to be talked out of calling the police when her crazed husband with a gun takes their son by force is beyond me. Wait until tomorrow and file an amber alert? Really? The women are nearly as hare brained as the men in this one.

I did enjoy seeing Simón have to apologize but I enjoyed seeing Dante do his little charade with the brothers even more.

For me, Deb and Dante and their alliance is the most interesting plot so far.

Jarifa, Thank you. I think it qualifies as kidnapping, but my enthusiasm for marking off another Bingo box might override clarity. LOL That's why I asked for a ruling, just as one does when playing golf before taking a misstep...and a penalty. ;-)

doris, it seems like we are the only two playing. We can call ourselves the official “Ruling Board”! Looks like you are set to BINGO soon!!!!!

Jarifa - LOL!!!

Last night we had another view of that beautiful Del Monte staircase, which I recognize from one or two previous telenovelas. Will there be ... an escaleracide? Will we get to check off the "someone falls down stairs" BINGO square?

Great work, Adriana.

I certainly agree that Juan sees a way out, but it's not just an excuse. In the real world such a situation can be a ticking time bomb, especially if everyone is in the same house. A person born and raised in the US this extended family household model is nightmarish to me.

Deb warns that Sara might just want a family, but not her. says it all. So why is she there when she doesn't? The answer is obvious, but clearly Simon and Mateo are determined to believe that Sara is just like her mother. Also, none of them suspect what Dante is up to. I don't think Pedro knows his entire scheme and I'm sure that Deborah doesn't know it either. Dante is playing the long game.

Technically, Cornelio did not kidnap Tadeo. He is the child's legal father. If the DNA test results can affect that I suspect that Pedro would have to take this to court and let a judge decide. A decent judge would take Beatriz' wishes into consideration because Tadeo is too young for his wishes to count legally (I think kids have to be at least 10).

Sara's fantasy about what Severiano would say in her situation is probably right on the money. If he had the chance to compare Sara and Julieta as the adults they are now I think he would say this. And did he know anything about the relationship between Julieta and Mateo or was he away from the ranch too much? Do her parents know?

Rosa is delusional. This wedding will only happen if she can find a way to force it which is not the way of such things anymore. Propero would not be in favor of that and he could have the last word.

More later,

Adriana: Mateo is a DUMBASS!

Buji Rosa's dirty little secrets will come out sooner or later!

Adriana, thank you for your marvelous recap.

“Seve, the Wise Ghost”, “insta besties” and “The guacamole hits the fan” were among many favorites.

Mateo should be thanking Juan for stealing Juli. Mateo has thus far avoided a bullet, hmmm, sort of like Cornelio.

Juan ran with the Mateo/Juli news to further breech the chasm between he and Juli. Her going to her mother for comfort was rather sad. Rosa does love her girls I’ve no doubt. She has a hard time though with empathy. It’s just not in her DNA.

Jarifa, "Rosa is delusional" is spot on. I don't see Juan weakening to the point of marrying Juli and agree Prospero would likely step in. Juli and Juan haven't slept together so she can't pull the pregnancy card. But she is desperate so I won't underestimate her.

“The well-meaning uncle turns into a bug eyed nutso in the split of a second” was very starling. And beyond unsettling. These families have more skeletons in their closets than a graveyard.

“Mateo still feels guilty for having betrayed his brother. The man is a whiny mess, which compliments his dullness so well”. Perfect.

“Juan gets to the study, screeching his teeth, talking to Severiano’s portrait about not being able to handle things anymore.” Anymore?? Dude, you’ve been out of your league since day one.

“Simon asks him to breathe deeply, try to avoid an anxiety attack”. The man has been nothing and given nothing BUT anxiety since this began.

“Typical ‘telenovela rules’ contrast between Adela’s family, poor but they all love and care about each other, and the rich Del Montes who are at each others’ throats and so unhappy on a daily basis”. So true doris. Great insight.

“Why would any mother (Beatriz) in her right mind and a brain in her head allow herself to be talked out of calling the police when her crazed husband with a gun takes their son by force is beyond me”. Exactly Jarifa. Yes, Cornelio did kidnap his son.

Adriana, a wonderful story, as always, written with heart and insight. Thank you!

Diana

doris, we are on the same wave-length. I sure hope somebody that deserves it goes tumbling down.

Doris, Corni took Tadeo to the Bar and the boy was sleeping in Paloma's room, with Paloma watching him. That's what she told Bea on the phone. I think this was a kidnapping, too, but it's not as black and white, because Corni is teh legal dad and Bea considers herslef guilty for the cheating and has the big paternity secret, when in fact she's a victim, too. Corni is the worst, he went and grabbed Tadeo from his bed because he had a fight with Pedro, what would he have done had he known the whole truth? Kill Bea in front of his son? The guy might love the boy, but he's no where near what a good father should be. Same goes for Pedro, who sees Tadeo as a trophy, the first Del Monte heir, who doesn't have an ounce of actual Del Monte blood.

Jarifa, I personally love Deb's confrontations with the brothers, she's an expert at riling them up, especially Simon, who blows up just when he looks at her.
The actor must be taking some kind of sedatives after he finshes his scenes, something to calm him down (it has been proven that doing emotionaly intense scenes is very draining for the actors, as their brain know they are just "acting", but their bodies actually go through the actual stress of the make believe situation)

I still have a hard time reconciling the two faces of Severiano: the man who abandoned his own flesh and blood while embracing strangers. If our suspicions that he's not the father are true, could he have been aware of that? Why leave that video then, just to put the brothers to an ultimate test of loyalty?

Urban, I would go crazy living in the same house as my entire family, but this used to be the norm in my country for many generations. I don't know how they do it, either, live together, work together... no personal space or bounderies.

"I am still fascinated...or fixated...with Pedro's chains. Telenovela wardrobe dept. does everything for a reason. Could it represent Pedro chained to his anger, resentment, and insanity, like a slave or prisoner?" Interesting theory, doris, sure hope it's correct.

"Why would any mother (Beatriz) in her right mind and a brain in her head allow herself to be talked out of calling the police when her crazed husband with a gun takes their son by force is beyond me. Wait until tomorrow and file an amber alert? Really?" Jarifa, I don't know what the writers were thinking when they wrote that? What??? I need to tighten my beanie A LOT.

"For me, Deb and Dante and their alliance is the most interesting plot so far." Jarifa, I completely agree.

"Last night we had another view of that beautiful Del Monte staircase, which I recognize from one or two previous telenovelas. Will there be ... an escaleracide? Will we get to check off the "someone falls down stairs" BINGO square?" Oooh, that would be nice, doris! I haven't seen an escaleracide in a while!

"I personally love Deb's confrontations with the brothers, she's an expert at riling them up, especially Simon, who blows up just when he looks at her." Lol Adriana, so true.

Also, I think we should count the Tadeo/Cornelio thing as kidnapping. I don't know if it legally qualifies, but we know it is kidnapping.

I had my own room from birth until I left the nest. Only had one brother who also had his own room. Privacy is very important.

The more I watch these programs the happier I am to have never had any sisters. In an earlier century I would have been the one shipped off to the convent while the prettier or prettiest would have been the Golden Child married off to the nearest first-born son who would have inherited the lion's share of his father's wealth.

I am not sure whether leaving the lion's share to Juan would have been better or worse than what Severiano did. He was definitely aware that there were conflicts among his sons, so I think at best he intended for them to resolve their differences and keep the family business profitable and growing. If Mateo had a degree in engineering he could be an auto designer, Simon -- after therapy of his own -- could be a psychologist, and Lucas is now a veterinarian, so it's not like all are bound to the land after the year following the reading of the will.

The origins of Simon and Lucas are still to be discovered. We know that Lucas was an infant, so how did Seceriano and Catalina get him? Was he abandoned by someone poor or kidnapped from another rich family and abandoned as an act of revenge? The Lost Prince scenario has happened before in TNs and since Lucas is a good guy and handsome I can see this cliche playing out here.

Cher Adriana, merci for another bouncy recap of these characters bouncing into and around each other .

I have to say that I really loved watching the three brothers hurrying down that staircase one after the other . It reminded me of the Brady siblings on their staircase on The Brady Bunch . These brothers are toxic .

Juan just does not do it for me as a galan , especially in scenes in which he is supposed to be angry. Maybe he is a very easygoing, gentle guy in real life ( I like that kind of guy in real life ) , and so he has difficulty displaying rage in his acting .

I feel very sorry for Tadeo who is being fought over and bounced from one place to another . Nobody seems to be thinking about what this is doing to him.

My maternal grandmother lived with my family , so I grew up with her and sometimes her sister, who also lived with us at times. Our house felt very empty ehen my grandmother died, my great aunt left , and my sister went off to college when i was 10. I guess it depends on hiw you are raised and what you are used to . My mother had a big family , so relatives were always visiting because everybody loved being at the farm . My friend grew up with her maternal grandparents living with her family . Another friend's mother lived with her after she married because her mother had been a widow since my friend was a young child and the youngest sibling. Family farms often had multiple generations living in the same house or adjoining houses . Hub and I built our house on my parents farm .

Thanks, Adriana, what a great read. You give as much life to your retelling as we find in the tv episode.

Not one of the brothers appeals to me. I like Pedro’s looks but not his personality. I wonder if the chains are like the string ties that used to be worn?

I’m wondering what Próspero wants with Deb. Has he realized he was mislead by her declarations of love and wants his money back? Or does he realize it would be his money she’d be using for the partnership?

Sara has lived with her mother a long time but I’m not sure she see’s through her. She questions her but then seems to accept what Deb says. I wonder if it will be the last episode before she sees her mother’s true self?

Liz

I suppose the writers decided to make Sara , Paloma, and Bea instant bffs to give Sara someone female to talk to outloud about her deepest thoughts and feelings instead of having her thought bubble all the time to let viewers know her true , inner most feelings . Previously , she was just talking to Modesto in Private in that way. Perhaps the writers felt Sara needed some female companionship and those two women were around . Sara certainly couldn't confide in jealous Juli and her teen sisters . Whatever.

For me, Pedro is still the most interesting character in this whole mess. He chews up scenery in every scene as the rebel with or without a cause , but I always see that poor, little , hungry, dirty ,abused guy from those flashbacks .

Pedro is the designated pot stirrer in a three piece suit . He taunts and mocks everybody with his slow clap and sly, wolfish grin . Nobody escapes his arrogant mockery and disdain. He always sees himself as the smartest person in the room. Infuriating . I have noticed that he does sometimes back up Juan when it cones to the other three brothers. Call of the blood?

So...do we know that Juli slept with whiny Mateo back in the day but has never slept with Juan ?

I said it before, but we have no evidence that Juli Stepford ever got into the sheets with Juan. In fact, when Deborah told her to seduce him she said she didn't have to. That tells me she never has done so. She was frosty enough in that reply that told me she might even be frigid.

She did get it on with Mateo; he said so a couple of episodes ago. They were each other's first. He didn't tell Juan that, but that they were involved at Ll is reason enough for Juan to end it with her. Future family dynamics would become deucedly awkward.

The "Galán falsely believes he has been intimate with villainess" box is raising its hand, ready to be checked off. There is still time for Juli to get Juan drunk or drug him, although I'm not sure Juli qualifies as a "villainess."

Susanlynn - Pedro as the designated "pot stirrer" is spot on.

Adriana, thanks for a super fun read.

Sara was by far the loudest last night. When she entered the mansion yelling about her mom getting kicked out, I had to turn down the TV.

Simon's self-administered psych care is not doing him a bit of good, but I still like that he was onto Deb as the culprit in Mateo getting booze and tried to haul her a** out of there.

Deb gets the good lines again. He's not a psychologist, he's a psychopath! lol

Yay, Juan got a get-out-of-jail-free card in finding out about Julieta's past with Mateo.

Poor Cornelio. Pedro taunts him, so he goes and gets Tadeo to punish Bea. Then he gets twisted advice from his experienced cuckold uncle. He needs to go to a priest or a good lawyer instead.

I vote for a good lawyer. Cornelio had been a good father to Tadeo before this, but rather than a priest I vote for a good shrink.

doris, I think that Juli qualifies as an antagonista and crazy to boot so she could end up manipulating Juan to no good end. It happened in my last novela “Mi fortuna es amarte.” Juan is just clueless enough.

Thnx Jarifa. Often the antagonista is the pre-existing girlfriend/fiancée (or boyfriend/fiancé) in these stories.

doris, there are so many kinds of antagonistas in this one it makes my head spin! LOL
