La herencia #16 Thursday 8/4/22 Yakkity Yak -OR- Blah Blah Back

 Okay, here we go . . .

1. Juli, microphone in  her hand, gets everyone to cheer for  celebrating Doña Catalina's name day. She extoles the virtues that Catalina had that made her an example to women in today's world. Next, she thanks Juan for all the marvelous things she learned by his side. He is an honorable man just like his father. All of the years she spent with him were very happy.  Juan rightfully starts to squirm in  his chair. They all cheer for Juan, Juli included. She tells an old  story about the first  time they went off riding together and how after their adventure,  she was sure that she would never  have to worry about feeling  lost at his side. She will always be grateful to him for that. Everyone applauds again. Pedro is sure that is true love!!! Rosa is expecting Juli to announce the wedding date!!! Juli recognizes Sara as one of the owners and is sure everyone wants to hear from her. Sara indicates she is not  interested in saying anything. Juli continues saying she just wanted everyone one to know what a protector Juan has been for her. They all applaud some more while Juan continues squirming behind his fake smile. Juli also wants to say something else: there will not be a wedding. That grabs Rosa's attention. Rosa starts to get up from her seat. Juli continues. She and Juan have decided to break their engagement. Rosa grabs the microphone out of her daughter's hand and declares that she will tell the  truth. There will not be a wedding because of THAT gold digger Sara. Juan rises from his seat and tells her that he doesn't want her to create a scandal. Sara defends herself saying it isn't her fault  but Rosa will not hear it.  She calls Sara a hypocrite and throws her glass of red wine on Sara's white outfit. Prospi manages to guide Rosa out of the party as Lucas takes Sara into the house. Pedro tells the band to start playing.

2. At the cantina, Tadeo is being coaxed to eat his soup by his father Cornelio who is also asking the child not to be angry with him. Tadeo is non-responsive until Beatriz comes in. He runs into her arms. Tadeo tells them both that he wants to be with his mother. Tadeo does not like to be with his father. Cornelio apologizes for his bad behavior (one more time). He admits that Tadeo needs to be with Beatriz and tells her to take him. Beatriz takes Tadeo by the hand and thanks Salvador and Paloma for taking care of her son. She is ready to leave when Cornelio says he wants to talk to her and it will not take long. Paloma volunteers to take Tadeo to the plaza. He isn't sure about going if he won't be leaving with his mother Beatriz but Paloma ends up convincing him it will be okay.

3. Sara tells Lucas  she had to contain herself because she didn't want to create even more of a scene. Lucas passes if off that Rosa was just upset. Sara  has to explain to him that Rosa  did it to humiliate her and hurt  her standing so that people would see her as nothing more than a gold digger out to steal  somebody else's husband. Lucas gets her to see that she is not at fault so she should just go out and enjoy herself. People will think what they will. Sara tells him she has just made a decision.

4. Juli has stayed behind and has followed Juan into his office. He tells her that he cannot believe what her mother did.  He also tells her that she did not have the  right making that announcement. It was  neither the time or the place.  She apologizes saying she only wanted to free him from the engagement.  Everyone was going to find to any way.  She is also very sorry for what her mother did. He tells her that she better talk to her mother because he will not allow her to create a scandal. Juli has no idea why her mother reacted that way.

5. Simón is back in the house telling Mateo and Modesto  that Rosa was totally right. Sara was responsible for Juan and Juli breaking up. Now everyone knows who Sara really is. Mateo agrees with him but Modesto doesn't. How do they even know what Rosa said is true or not? Simón is convinced and is happy somebody else put Sara in her place besides  him.  Modesto tells him that Juan and Juli's relationship was cooling down anyway but when  it comes to betraying Juan, wasn't it him (Simón), Mateo and Juli who really betrayed him ???  Simón is suddenly quiet.

6. Deb has followed Pedro into the garage. He says he was surprised by Rosa but a mother should always defend her children. Deb is all about making the situation work to her advantage.  As far as Sara is concerned, she has noticed that Pedro likes her. This might be his chance to win her heart. Pedro has to remark how bad he feels for Sara. He wonders what she could have done to deserve a  "mother" like Deb.  Deb informs him that all Sara has is due to her. She is the best ally one could have in their life. She could help him a lot. He laughs and  asks how.  He adds that  he doesn't need her. Smiling,  she informs him that snakes shouldn't end up biting each other. She asks him to let her prove that she can be of great help to him.

7. Cornelio is telling Beatriz that Amado is doing okay in the hospital after the shooting. She wants to talk without any shouting or aggression.  She doesn't want them to hurt each other with what they say because the divorce will be very hard on Tadeo. Cornelio tells her that  they are not the only couple who has messed up and that others have stayed together and moved on from such a crisis but if she thinks  that divorce is the answer, he will accept it.  Beatriz admits to also having failed and swears that she is sorry for what she did.  She never should have cheated on him with Pedro or anyone else. If she could turn back time (Cher, do we hear you?), she would change so many things. Cornelio says her cheating hurt especially because it was with that jerk. He grabs her hands and says he also recognizes that he failed her as a husband with his getting drunk and his aggression. He ended up losing the woman he loves. He still loves her. He is offering to forget everything if they can forgive each other. They can start fresh.

8. Simón and Modesto have joined Juan and Juli. Modesto tells Juli that her mother had no right to humiliate Sara in front of everybody. Juan reminds her that the engagement  was something between the  two of THEM. Juli makes it clear it was not her purpose to hurt anyone because she is the one who has ended up most affected. Simón is on Juli's side because Juan broke the engagement hanging Juli, the victim,  out to dry to be humiliated by society. Juan puts him in his place saying the reason for the breakup is private between him and Juli. He has always valued being  discreet in this aspect of his life as their parents taught them.  He tells Juli to make sure that her mother doesn't make any more comments because if he starts to talk, it is going to end very badly. Juli recognizes she cannot do anything right where he is concerned which is what happens when one person cannot stand the other.  She  leaves in huff.

9. Deb is still trying to sell a relationship with Sara to Pedro  but has to add that to his disadvantage, Sara is very smart and educated and would not be won by his silver  tongue. He laughs at Deb thinking that is all he has in his arsenal to win over a woman. He warns her not to underestimate him. She never would. He turns serious when she adds that she is very good at analyzing people and knows he is a lot more dangerous than what his brothers think he is.  She offers to put Sara on a silver platter for him since he is smarter than Juan and has the prospects of a better future. He refuses to be manipulated by her "cheap" words, but he could use her to help in another one of his plans. She is open to doing whatever he wants.  They can achieve many things TOGETHER.  She offers her hand to shake on it. He just looks at her.

10. Prospi has arrived home with the family and wants to know how Rosa dared to do what she did.  Rosa insists it is her right to take care of her child like everyone is always telling her to do.  Jessica criticizes her saying that by attacking Sara as she did,  she made Juli stand out even more as a rejected woman in the eyes of the town.  Rosa rages on until Alondra tells her that she doesn't agree with what she did either. Berta has to say that she agrees with the daughters even though a mother should defend her children like a wild animal. Prospi politely asks Berta  to butt out.  He is frustrated that the whole family is falling apart because of Rosa having to impose her damn will on everyone. Jessica cannot take his hypocrisy and leaves.

11. On his crutches, Mateo limps along trying to catch up to Juli as she is leaving. She keeps walking and tells him to leave her alone.  She finally stops when Mateo tells her how brave he thought she was to announce that her relationship was over.  He knows how hard it must have been for her and just wanted to make  sure that she was okay. She says she only wanted to lift a weight off of Juan's shoulders. Juan  doesn't want her near him any more so he can forget her. Mateo doesn't think that will be easy.  Mateo keeps talking saying he loves her and they could be happy together. She turns and accuses him of telling Juan what happened  between them.

12. Juan is still with Simón and Modesto complaining that nobody had any right to ruin the party they always have had  in honor of their mother. Simón chimes in from his high horse that it all was Sara's fault. Modesto tells him to quit blaming Sara for everything.  Simón says that Juan is the only one who is blind to who Sara really is.  She didn't come for any solidarity with her brothers. She came for her inheritance!!!As Simón continues, Lucas rushes in to tell them that Sara packed her bags and left. He couldn't stop her. Simón is visibly disappointed when Juan runs off to go after her.

13. As Sara walks aways pulling  her sad little suitcase and crying, she gets a call from her mother but does not answer it.

14. Juan jumps on a horse to go after Sara.

15. Back at the cantina. Beatriz takes her hand away from Cornelio's and tells him that she doesn't think there is any way to fix their marriage.  They have both hurt each other a lot. Simón keeps pushing to stay together. He loves her and with that love he is capable of forgiving "HER" . . . UH. . .forgiving  "both of  them." He suggests that all three of them go far away somewhere (YIKES!!!! a death sentence for Beatriz??)  together like before. Beatriz insists it can never be like before. He will always throw Pedro in her face until the  end of time. (Just like he indirectly did a few sentences earlier) Cornelio's  simmering anger breaks through and he makes it clear that he will give her the divorce she wants but he is going to fight for custody of Tadeo because his son is going to be with him. He storms out.

16. Juli blames the whole mess on Sara and him. Mateo insists that she is obsessed with Juan but doesn't love him. (besides being an alcoholic he is DELUSIONAL) He insists that he knows because he loves her and when one person loves another they know what will make them happy.  Juli accuses Mateo of being obsessed with her. He says that his loving her will never change. She demands to know why he did it. She and Juan were happy. She beats on him with her fists knocking his crutches away. He holds her as she cries. When she has had enough, she pushes him away yelling "let me go" and  knocks him on his butt.  She informs him that she loves Juan with her whole soul and will fight for him against Mateo, Sara and anyone else who gets in her way!!! She leaves a crying Mateo on the ground.

17. Juan stops his horse in front of Sara. In sprite of her stating that nobody will stop he from leaving, Juan  informs her that HE is going to stop her from leaving because he LOVES her. She says she cannot go back at a time like this. He gets off his horse and tells her that no matter how long he has tried to quiet his heart, he cannot any more. He loves her. He asks her to stay and fight  for what they feel for each other. She isn't sure they can do it. He says she can if they do it together. They are just about to kiss when Pedro arrives asking if he is interrupting something. Pedro says he is so happy to see Sara is still there. He heard she was leaving  and was hoping that wasn't the case. Juan tells his brother that Sara isn't going anywhere. This is her place.

18. In their living room, Prospi asks Rosa what role do they have in  their daughters' lives anymore??? They are full grown women. Rosa still sees them as little girls. Prospi disagrees. They only want to SEE them as little girls but they aren't any longer. They wanted to protect them from everything but they failed them in the most basic of things: achieving happiness. Doesn't she realize how unhappy they all are. Rosa starts to blame Prospi when he tells her to be very careful with what she says next because he is fed up with her. If he hears one more time that he is not man enough, he is divorcing her. He leaves and she is left in shock on the couch.

19. Smooth talking Pedro tells Sara that he is glad that she reconsidered.  She cannot leave  because of Rosa's tantrum. He tells Juan that he doesn't want Rosa visiting the hacienda anymore. Sara tells him to stop. She doesn't want them having any more problems with that family. Juan sees them as causing the problems not her. Juan says he will take care of it. Sara's home is Santa Catalina.  Pedro takes control offering to walk Sara back so Juan can take care of his horse. Juan is left staring after the two of them as they walk away.

20. Rosa is going crazy thinking about how a divorce would affect the family. What would everyone say? She remembers how much it hurt when her parents got a divorce. Propsi sees her only being worried about what people will say. He asks her why she married him. Does she really love him? She finds the question ridiculous after being married for thirty years. He feels that she never has loved him. She wonders what happened to  that self-assured radiant man that she fell in love with. He says he is right there in front of her the same as he always has been. She disagrees. The man in front of her is a stranger. The man she fell in love with disappeared a long time ago and with him her hopes and dreams. Prospi blames her for making him who he is. The conversation is cut short by Deb's arrival.

21. Rosa tells Deb  that if she is there to complain about what she said about her daughter, she is not going to put up with it. Sara went looking for trouble. Deb surprises her by saying she gave Sara a serious talking to. How could she have acted like that? Deb is there to apologize. She knew nothing about what was going on. Looking at Prospi, Rosa  tells Deb that at least somebody understands her. Family isn't always what you wish it were.

22. Pedro brings Sara back to the house where Lucas is happy to see her. Juan comes in as Simón  asks which of the two brothers talked her into coming back. Juan asks what does it matter. The important thing is that she is back.  Sara tells Simón that she made the decision herself. Simón doesn't miss a beat and sarcastically comments that it  is a real pity that they couldn't have taken her part of the inheritance and given it to a charity that really needs it more than her. Juan shuts him up asking him if he hasn't had  enough already today and tells him not to bother Sara. Pedro says Juan convinced Sara to stay and he Pedro brought her back.  She goes up to her room with Lucas helping her with her bag.

23. The next day, it is a gossipy Sunday morning at Adela's house.  Brandon is wondering about what Rosa said about Sara. Agustín writes it off as gossip. Adela tells them both to drop it. Agustín  tries to bring up something about Salvador's wife but  Adela kicks him under the table to shut  him up.

24. Juan goes to see Mateo in his room  and helps him put on his shirt which reminds Mateo of when they were kids. Mateo knows that something is up. He can ask him anything.  Juan wants to know what went on between him and Juli. Mateo explains how he never wanted his feelings about Juli to be known because Juan had sacrificed so much of himself for them. Yes, he suffered in silence. He never wanted to be the cause of them breaking up. He assures Juan that once Juli and he were novios, there was nothing going on with them. He begs Juan to forgive him. Juan hugs him. Mateo swears he will forget about Juli even it costs him his life, he will forget her.

25. Paloma is researching divorce law on her laptop at the . Her (jack*** of a) father Salvador, pushes her books on the floor as he wipes the bar to get her attention. He is not happy that she is researching divorce  law to help Beatriz. He doesn't understand why she would want  to get involved other peoples' messes. She comments that she cannot leave Beatriz alone by herself. The case is difficult and the worst part  is . . . Salvador asks "'and the worst part is' what??"  Paloma  never finishes the sentence. She says that when she sees Tadeo she cries for Beatriz. She reminds her of her mother. Salvador reminds her that her mother doesn't deserve even one of her  thoughts. Paloma even dreams about her mother. She smiles and asks her to come and see her. Salvador says "God forbid!" and scolds her saying that neither of them needs memories of such a bad woman. She asks her father where her tomb is. She wants to go and see it. Where is her mother buried???

26. At the Del Monte's,  they are all at the breakfast  table except for Pedro and Deb. Simón goes around refilling everyone's coffee cups but conveniently excludes Sara. Juan is not happy with him starting things with Sara again. Simón says she has legs and hands to serve herself. Sara agrees with him saying there is nothing a woman cannot do for herself. She asks him to pass her the coffee pot. He places it on the table in front of her. She quotes form Santa Teresa of Calcutta: He who does not live to serve,  is not worthy of living. Juan and Lucas agree. Simón tells her that nobody is a machista in the house, but it is important that everyone is reminded of their place. She assures him that  she knows what her place is very clearly.

27. Deb comes in complaining about the bad night she had. She presumes that Juan must have had a very lonely night. Juan repeats that his engagement with Juli is off. There will not be a wedding. Simón says that he doesn't want to contradict Juan but there will be a wedding. He is planning on proposing  to Paloma. (Poor Paloma! She is too good for that dangerous lout.)

28. After Brandon leaves the table to go and see Dulce, Adela tells her father Agustín not to talk about the past in front of her kids. Her father pays her no mind. He is into telling the whole truth these days. When he is with Saint Peter maybe he'll have to be quiet,  but not now. He continues saying that what that woman did was seriously lousy.  Didn't what she did with her ex Lorenzo hurt Adela?

29. Paloma is sure that her father knows where her mother is buried but doesn't want to tell her. He finally tells her she is buried far away in Morelia where she went. Paloma is shocked and asks him if he knew where her mother was then. Did he talk to her? Shifty Salvador isn't happy and says she was in a town called Comillas. She asks if her tomb would be there then.  In the end, she is left with even more questions about her mother than before.

30. Rosa visits Juli in  her room to talk with her. Juli makes it clear that she doesn't want to talk to her or her father. Rosa doesn't understand how she can be like she is when Juan broke up with her because of Sara. Juli says evidently her mother doesn't care about what she wants. Rosa says that she is ready to fight for her.  She adds that Deb came to apologize because of her daughter and to tell her she did the right thing. Juli doesn't want to  hear about Deb or Sara. She wants to work. Juli gets a  call and Rosa leaves. A worker is calling Juli to tell her that the fertilizer has been spread over all of the crop.  She asks that he send her an e-mail with the info.

31. Juan congratulates Simón. Deb says the good thing is if Simón and his wife needs couples therapy, he can do it himself.  Deb says the announcement deserves a toast and has to be forced by Sara to apologize for having said something that might have offended Mateo. Mateo isn't in the mood to accept it. Juan starts looking at some e-mails he just received. The  e-mails that indicate that Lucas has been actively pursuing his equine therapy plans when that was not the deal they settled on.  It is in the news! Lucas denies having anything to do with publishing that information. Deb thinks it must have been Juli. She is nuts. That upsets Mateo who tells her off and leaves. Deb sees it as "Attack Deb Day." Juan tells her to please just keep her comments to herself.

32. Pedro goes to see Tadeo. He gives Beatriz a document giving him custody(?)  of Tadeo. (Really? Beatriz has no rights to her own son??)  Tadeo is happy to see him and asks him why his father Cornelio no longer loves him. He tells Tadeo not to pay him any attention. Beatriz asks Pedro to leave but he keeps talking to Tadeo. He sends him to get a jacket so they can go to the ranch. Pedro says he talked to his lawyer and now since he has confirmed Tadeo is his son, he can take him wherever he wants. Beatriz insists that he cannot take him. Tadeo has to be with her. He tells her to do what she wants. He has  already filed for Tadeo's name to be changed. He will be a Del Monte.

33. Brayan is playing kissy face with Jessica. She tells him she cannot stand being with her family anymore. He doesn't think her mother will be changing her mind about him any time soon and she will never give them permission to get married. She grabs him by the hand and says who is asking for permission???

34. Juan is still scolding Lucas about what he wrote. Lucas admits he wrote the articles before they talked but he never put them out for publication. Juan tells him he needs to think before he puts things out there. He told him that before. Sara is upset by the lack of professionalism of the publishers.

35. Modesto brings several police officers looking for Simón into the dining room. There has been a complaint filed against him for gender-based violence and verbal/mental cruelty filed by . . . Deb finishes the sentence: Deborah Portillo. Yes, she made the complaint. (and  she made my evening!!!) Everyone is shocked!!  (and  I am happy!)

Jarifa, thank you for for an excellent account of the escalating bickering . I dont think I have ever watched a telenovela y with so many people fighting . We need a graph to sort out who hates whom and who is obsessed with whom. Juan and Sara are supposed to be the solid, responsible couple and Modesto is the wise, stable counselor amid this swirling mass of conflict. Wow.

I guess we can now assume that Paloma's mother is alive...somewhere and will pop up at some point. And what was Aug's comment about her and Adela's ex ?

So many awful people.

Susanlynn, yes! It was the constant”bickering!” that drove me nuts in this last one. Unfortunately, the bickering had some necessary details included every once in a while. No FF>>here.

I still cannot wait to see the police arrest Simón tonight. I think I dislike him, Cornelio and Salvador the most.

Will Jessica turn up married? That would make Rosa’s day!!!

Salvador’s wife could be a wild card if she is still alive which could very well be.

I cannot wait for tonight.

BINGO UPDATE

My cards haven’t changed since last week. : (

A big thanks to Urban and doris for pointing out that I had used “Simón” for “Cornelio” in the scenes where he was talking to Bea. Now it makes sense! : )

Thanks, Jarifa, that was great! I thought it was awful that Juli and her mom ruined a day that was in honor of the the mother of the boys. I’ve decided Juan had a lucky escape from her!

Not being particularly crazy about any of the characters makes this a lot more fun and entertaining. I’m usually tied up in knots over what’s happening. With this one, so far I’m enjoying the ride! Don’t have a vested interest in anyone! Although there are a lot of characters to dislike! But not too many to like strongly.

Liz

Jarifa, a riveting summary of what was to me a pivotal and revealing episode. I loved the constant intrigue. I didn’t mind the petty comments and constant squabbling as they continue to peel back the complicated character layers.

Of course Bea’s “If she could turn back time (Cher, do we hear you?),” was my favorite line of many.

The barely qualifying melodrama of “Sara walks away pulling her sad little suitcase and crying” with Juan mounting his beautiful steed to traverse the few feet down the path she’s managed to walk made me smile.

“She quotes form Santa Teresa of Calcutta: He who does not live to serve, is not worthy of living”. Deep! Well, there is certainly more to Sara than her looks! 😊

Yes, I am also happy Deb called the police! For once, Simon wasn’t scowling, no self-satisfied smirk.

“When she has had enough, she pushes him away yelling "let me go" and knocks him on his butt”. Isn’t it evident that Juli and Mateo epitomize true love? Talk about twisted.

“If he hears one more time that he is not man enough, he is divorcing her. he man in front of her is a stranger”. Finally, a spine is grown. To be honest, I find Prospi and Rosa’s relationship one of the more interesting here. It’s not an uncommon tale. She loved him at one time but blames him for changing and dashing her dreams. He faults her for morphing into the person he now is. Can this marriage be saved?

Bea’s day descended into hell. She ended up threatened by both Cornelio and Pedro. Let’s hope Paloma acts fast and effectively to keep Tadeo with his mother.

“And what was Aug's comment about her and Adela's ex?” Ohh, very interesting Susanlynn!

“She offers her hand to shake on it”. Perhaps it’s just me but her hand looked like a twisted claw (unsurprisingly).

Ahh, the fertilizer seems to be rearing its odious head…

Jarifa, excellent, start to finish. Thank you!!!

Diana

Jarifa - thank you for your recap! Great snark. This was hard work with dialogue full of details and nothing that was FFWD>>>worthy.

I especially enjoyed your Cher comment. ;-)

All these characters belong on a Jerry Springer episode. Or Dr. Phil. Just sayin'. Let the chair-throwing begin.

Who knew Julieta was so passive-aggressive!?! Those demure Chanel-like outfits camouflage a really bitter kitten. The fruit did not fall far from the (Rosa)tree. Her "share" about the breakup at the festival truly was neither the time or nor the place.

Worse yet is Rosa, who has no clue that you cannot force anyone to love your daughter. Her scene at the festival was appalling. Rosa only wants the Del Monte name and fortune chained...er...connected to her. It is no surprise that Prospi is done with Rosa after thirty years.

Hmmm....the mystery about Salvador's wife/Paloma's mom. Paloma, do not marry Simón! Run!!!

"I didn’t mind the petty comments and constant squabbling as they continue to peel back the complicated character layers."
Well said, Diana.

Debbie is the most evil of all the characters. She has no soul nor conscience. She truly is a
"Toxic Mother" and deserves a very large anvil.

Gracias, Jarifa.

Based on the music after the phone all about the fertilizer I am betting that Julie Stepford made sure it was poisoned. She is obviously setting Sara up for the blame.

Beware those who feign helplessness and victim status. If she survives this tale she will become just like Rosa some day. Shoving Mateo when he was on crutches was a serious act of cruelty.

The irony of Rosa is that she fears public opinion and makes herself a pathetic spectacle by stooping so low as to insult Sara publicly and throw a glass of red wine on her clothes. She and not Sara will be the talk of the town for weeks over that.

And Deborah -- the Wicked Witch of Mexico City -- threw Sara under the bus when she kissed up to Rosa and her pathetic ruff. I agree that her hand looked like a claw and I'm sure Pedro also thought so. He taunting of Mateo at the dining table was disgusting and it was a good thing that both Juan and Sara got on her case for it.

More later.

"Those demure Chanel-like outfits camouflage a really bitter kitten". Love it doris, just love it!!!

Urban, it hadn't occurred to me yet that Julie Stepford was setting the stage for crop failure which is sure to fall on Sara's shoulders. Makes perfect sense - thank you!

Diana

Yes, Deb and Rosa both want to be large and in charge . It seems that sleeping with Demon Deb lit a fire in henpecked Prosp if he suddenly wants a divorce from demeaning , emasculating bossy boss Rosa . You go Prospi but don't go to Deb and fall into another trap. How about Adela? She might appreciate your kindness and gentleness and your argle vests....well, maybe not those vests.

Will Rosa care if she finds out she had Pros slept with Deb? I don't think so .

Jarifa - I forgot to mention I love your nod to 'Yakkety Sax'. in your recap title.

Those sweater vests must be just as hot as Pedro's black. I hope these actors got combat pay.

Thank you, Jarifa, great work for an episode where everyone talked soooo much! And you didn't miss one thing!

Juan "loves" Sara? Does Juan even "know" Sara? Is she even a good kisser? I found his declaration ridiculous. Take the woman out on a date, buy her an avocado before you tell her I love you!

Salvador's wife is becoming a very interesting topic. We know she slept with Severiano and now did Augustin imply that she might have slept with Adela's husband, too?

I get why Severiano would think that Catalina was a saint, seeing how she forgave his many infidelities, but this is exactly what makes her no role model. A saint of a mother maybe, for sure, but she would have been better off raising the boys on her own, teaching them how to treat a woman with respect. No wonder Simon is so messed up, he had to live most of his life with a mother who kept begging him to forgive dher husband's mistakes because he was a good father. Huh? And Juan, Pedro and Mateo are also troubled, each in his own way.

I must be in the minority, but I love Deb. Maybe because I'm not really invested in any of the characters, I don't care who she hurts with her shenanigans. I love her oneliners and the way she goes head to head with the brothers. and I also love the bickering, Simon is particularly adept at finding ways to blame everything on Sara.

I think Rosa would care if only because of how it would show her inadequacies. She's overweight and she henpecks. She is a very poor role model for her daughters.

Jessica already wants out but I hope she doesn't get knocked up on order to do it. It would give Rosa a conniption which will be amusing for an episode but not the right way to adult.

Rosa's passive aggressive crap is already part of Julieta 's personality . Prospero is a much better father than Rosa is a mother.

Great recap, Jarifa!

"Let’s hope Paloma acts fast and effectively to keep Tadeo with his mother." Yes, I couldn't agree more, Diana.

"I must be in the minority, but I love Deb." Lol, same, Adriana.

Busy day today. Thanks, all for stopping by the patio and posting your opinions. They are always fun to read and get everyone’s takes.

Adriana and Weirdo, I love Deb, too!

Urban, good comment about the sweater vests.

doris, glad you liked the title and my Cher comment.

Liz, ITA that not liking most of the characters makes this more fun to watch. It is really hard to care about these characters.

Diana, Deb’s hand was very “claw” like! You have such a good way with words. Yep, that fertilizer is going to cause a problem.

Gotta go.

Here is hoping there is less talk and more action tonight!

Yep, Juli is desperate to hang on to Juan , so she probably did sabotage the fertilizer . I can never understand why someone would want someone who obviously doesn't want him\her . Have we ever seen uptight, joyless Juli smile ?

I think Deb would love to seduce Pedro. She seems to enjoy their squabbles. She is actually full of joy ....and full of greed and desire as She schemes to achieve her goals. She will throw anyone under the bus, including her daughter . Sad.

I fast forward the Mateo and Simon scenes .

Hey, I don't think Michelle(Sara) is the only one who isn't an experienced rider. Juan looked awkward trying to " jump" on that horse to do that slow no ride to follow Sara who was about a block away. . He should watch the guys jumping on and off horses in Kurulus Osman... wow .

P.s. "Wow" seems to be Pedro's favorite expression ....not caray... Wow.

Susanlynn, ITA that Deb would love to have a roll in the . . . avocado fields with Pedro.

Jarifa, muchos kudos for your coverage of last night's yakkity yak. My word, I think every single member of the cast got a line in. Oooph!

I laughed when Sara was dabbing at the big red wine stain on her white billowy ensemble. Mujer, stop wasting time and just go upstairs and change. Which has me wondering if Modesto does the laundry too.

Simon is writhing shirtless on the floor in anguish in the morning but over the moon happy the next morning planning to ask Paloma to marry him. Poor Paloma has never seen his loco "I HATE SARA WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ILLS! side. Kudos to Deb for making him speechless with the police coming for him. Though astute police would advise Deb to stop living in the Del Monte mansion if she feels unsafe there.

For sure, Paloma's mom is alive. Wondering why dear ole mom has never sought out grown Paloma.

Rosa just makes me tired. I hope all three daughters mutiny.

On the fertilizer, I wouldn't put it past Pedro to screw it up to make Juan look bad and Sara feel bad and in need of him (Pedro) consoling her.

Nieice, I thought they would never shut up. We recappers need long love scenes, rides through the fields, scenes of avocado picking, more party scenes, basically anything to give us a break! LOL

"For sure, Paloma's mom is alive. Wondering why dear ole mom has never sought out grown Paloma."
Niece, I think the amnesia plot would work well here. I don't know if that's what the writers will do, but I hope so.

"For sure, Paloma's mom is alive. Wondering why dear ole mom has never sought out grown Paloma".

Niecie, I can only think the reason is daddy not so dearest. When he stares hatefully (and he excels at it), he is truly frightening.

Diana

Diana, the agree .I think awful Salvador knows exactly where Paloma's mother is and has been keeping her away . Will we eventually meet her , and will she be a good guy or as evil as Sal has painted her? I hope she is good because we already have Deb, Rosa, and Juli as villains of various forms.

Salvador gets that certain look on his face and he could easily be a cast member of the Sopranos.

Jarifa: I loved the title of your recap of last night's episode.

Simon & Crazy Pedro still on my Suspect List on who wanted Scumbag Daddy del Monte dead.
