La herencia #30 Thursday 8/25/22 A Very Fine Capítulo from Soup to Nuts

FYI  Capítulo 31's notes will be posted sometime on Saturday. It could be later in the afternoon.

Now on with #30.

The Appetizer--

* Sara and Pedro are at the Avocado Congress in Morelia. Juan is having breakfast at the hacienda. Lucas is on his phone monitoring the proceedings so they will be able to see Sara's presentation.  Juli joins Juan and Lucas still not understanding how Juan could trust Sara when she lost them millions of pesos. Juan admits it was also his fault and he trusts her. Dante and Deb arrive. Mateo says he saw them both at a restaurant. Deb decides to be the instigator and asks Juli is she has known Mateo since they were kids or just since they slept together. Juli throws a glass of water on Deb. Deb gets up and returns the favor. Juan stops the fight. Deb tells Juli she is just like her mother and that she will not be turning the other cheek like her daughter would only to get slapped again. Juan orders her out but Deb isn't going anywhere until her daughter, the owner of hacienda, returns. She vociferously defends Sara. Juli surprises everyone by asking Deb and Dante what they have  going on between them. A surprised Dante plays the wronged party and tells Juli that she offends them. Deb tells him to pay Juli no mind because she is only that way since finding out that  Sara and Juan are novios.  Juli tries to attack a smirking Deb but Juan stops her. He doesn't want anyone causing anymore scandals but asks if Deb and Dante have something going on himself. Deb explains that they have a good friendship that grew over time when  Severiano forgot about her and her daughter.  Dante says he gave them money so they could support themselves which he would have done for any woman without anyone to support her.  He is a man of integrity and asks them to stay out of his personal business.  Lucas has been watching Sara's presentation at the congress and is shocked at what he is seeing. He shows Juan. Juan knows he never should have left her go without him. At the same time, Dante has gotten a phone call and needs to talk to Juan in private immediately.

* When Sara and Pedro arrive at the Avocado Congress, she tells him that she has a bad feeling when she sees Henry there. Henry approaches Sara to let her know that he is there and has every right to be there as a business man.  Shortly after, Sara goes to the podium to give her address. As she introduces herself and starts to speak, Henry, whose nose is still bruised from the head butt,  starts talking loudly from his seat, gets up and approaches her. He asks if she is Sara Del Monte in charge of the Del Monte finances who takes care of business by sleeping with the president and the vice-president of the company. Is she going to speak about all of the deals that the Del Monte's will be breaking, the destruction of crops and how good she is at cajoling men like her mother is? He wants them all to know that Sara is the result of  Severiano Del Monte's infidelity which makes her a BASTARD.  The audience is silent. When Henry is done speaking, a calm and collected Sara apologizes for Henry's daring and inappropriate comments.  First, she makes a point that she is no BASTARD because her father recognized her and gave her his name. Yes, she is in charge of finances as well as being an owner of the company. That is why she is there. She reminds Henry that this is not some gossip show. The audience laughs and applauds. Henry is humiliated. She continues with her original presentation.

* After the presentation, Henry confronts Sara and Pedro in the lobby. He blames the Del Monte's for his business losses. She reminds him that they have two months to deliver his merchandise so he has  not lost anything on his investment. She tells him not to try to show off in public. Henry informs her that she is going to pay dearly for the way she spoke to him. Pedro defends her telling Henry not to disrespect her. He makes a point of saying that  he is capable of doing anything for Sara and his brothers.

The Main Course--

* After talking to Dante, Juan has decided it is time to circle the wagons based on the information he got from him. He tells Lucas that he will be going to his office at Avocado Central and then taking a helicopter to Morelia. He will not be able to do the investor meeting as planned.  Pedro is not up to dealing with Henry and his kind. He tells them they are not to talk about themselves to anyone. Private security will be assigned to Lucas and Mateo.  He will not say anything more. Lucas asks him how  Henry knew that Pedro liked Sara. Juan concludes that somebody is leaking info to Henry. He tells Lucas and Mateo that they are to take care of business at the packing plant as planned and then come directly home to the hacienda. When Lucas starts to complain about having body guards,  Juan tells him he needs to do what he is  telling them to do because he is telling them to do it. Period. Lucas needs to pay attention because Juan is afraid of what Henry could do to any one of them.

* As Juan is leaving, he runs into Modesto returning to the hacienda. He tells him that he has to go to Morelia and he needs him more than ever. Sara and his brothers are in danger. Dante had his people  spy on Henry and he found out some information which he prefers to not to talk about. Juan tells him that the guards need to be reinforced at the hacienda. This is nothing new for Modesto since Severiano went through the same type of threats many times.  Dante calls out to Juan that they need to leave like now.

* Modesto organizes the hacienda to defend against  a potential attack doubling the guards at the front entrance and making sure the entire grounds are to be patrolled every half hour. Nobody is to enter or exit without him knowing. He remembers Severiano telling him that if he were no longer there, he would want Modesto to care for his sons as his own.  Modesto would  protect them with his own life if necessary. Modesto cancels the scheduled harvesting. All the workers are to go home and the guards are to check that nobody is left behind.

* Juan and Dante are ready to leave Avocado Central for  Morelia when Juli and an almost giddy Simón tell him that the results of the fertilizer analysis have come back and it was tampered with so it must have been Sara. He is sure that Juan will fire her now. Juan says it does not  prove that Sara did anything. Juan thinks she is innocent and reminds them she is the love of his life. A nearly hysterical Dante comes to get him because they cannot delay due to the Feds closing air space. Juan leaves.

* Sara and Pedro are on the  road driving back from Morelia.  He insists that he will still win her heart. She tells him that is impossible.  He has never felt about anyone like he does about her. She thinks that Juan is the perfect man for her. He has all the qualities she has ever wanted in man. Pedro says he will be watching it all when their relationship falls apart.

* Juan has arrived in Morelia and calls Sara.  She tells him that they are already on the road home. Juan is beyond upset and asks to talk to Pedro. He needs to know exactly where they are. A flippant Pedro hangs up and tells Sara that they can talk to Juan when they get back to Santa Catalina.  Dante and Juan keep calling desperately hoping  that Sara answers again but there is no answer.  Suddenly, because Pedro was too stupid to realize that he was being tailed, he finds himself blocked by SUV's on all sides on the  mountain highway.  Pedro tells Sara to call Juan and she tries as she watches masked  men get out of the SUV's. She gets Juan on the line but fear takes over as she sees what they are facing.  The goons at gun point drag Pedro out of the vehicle and beat him viciously. They finally knock him out and  Juan listens  as the goons beat Sara.   He keeps calling for her as she lies bleeding on the ground.

The Sides--

* Simón goes to ask  Agustín to come back to the ranch but Agustín has a problem with the way Simón talks about his father as if he were so important to him when he saw him leave his father to die.  Simón's loose screw because apparent and he starts to cry as he tells Agustín that he doesn't know what he is talking about. He did't let him die.  It was an accident. There was nobody there to help them. Agustín wonders if it were an accident as he says,  then why did he hear Severiano asking for help and see Simón running away.  Simón finally says he left his father because maybe he deserved it. Agustín says NO child can say that about their father.  Before he leaves, Simón adds that Agustín didn't see everything that happened .

Simón ends up at  the cantina and finds Paloma. He is worried and rambles on about Agustín knowing all about the car accident and what happened. She tells him it was an accident. Simón says he was arguing with his father before  the accident. There is a flashback from the car interior with him telling his father that he would rather be dead than be like him. Paloma tries to calm him down telling him he cannot focus on the  past. Juan is depending on him.  He feels better and finally leaves. Sal watches and shakes his head.

* Mateo apologizes one more time to Juan and swears he will never drink again. Juan is tired of the endless cycle of apologies and promises. Juan tells him he has an illness and he cannot cure it alone. Mateo will not go to rehab but will agree to his brothers helping him cure his addiction. Lucas agrees to be involved. Mateo assures them it is all going to be fine.

Juli is surprised to see Mateo still at the hacienda. Juan thinks everyone deserves a second chance. Snarky Juli says that Mateo must be on his fourth or fifth chance by now.

* Berta scolds Cornelio about disrespecting his father. Cornelio suspects that she wants to take his mother's place and never will. He  calls Berta a "yegua" that is "quedada": A mare that is an old maid. He can see it in her eyes. Modesto finally puts a stop to Cornelio insulting Berta.

* Sal tells Modesto that he thinks that Paloma will be safer married off to Simón than with her mother.

* Cornelio tells Sal his father never loved him.

* In kiddieland, Dulce gets a call from her father telling her that there is no money for her quinceañera dress and he won't be able to attend her party. Brandon tries to comfort her.

* Juli tells Deb and Dante that she is going to find out what is really going on between them. Dante warns her to be careful. He is very much the gentleman and she may not know it yet, but she doesn't want to get on his wrong side. Deb smirks.  When Juli leaves, Dante blames Deb for talking way too much. She could ruin it all for them with her comments.

* Rosa has not talked to Deb yet and wonders why a woman like Deb would go out with a married man. Rosa is in favor of Alondra going out with Lucas Del Monte. Alondra makes it clear she has no intention of trapping him or winning him like some livestock on a farm.

* Lucas is troubled about how Simón treated Sara. Should he tell Juan or not? Mateo thinks it is better to let it go because Juan would never forgive Simón. Lucas does not look convinced.

* Bea tells Paloma she and Cornelio are getting divorced.

* Romance is clearly in the air for Modesto and Berta.

* Irma pays a visit to the cantina when Sal is not there. She sees Paloma and tells her that she is her mother.

* Deb hires Cornelio to hire some guys to beat up Simón so everyone knows who she is and he is sorry for what he did to her daughter.

Dessert--Nothing was tasty enough tonight; just bitter. Sorry.

Jarifa - Great recap! Thank you. And yes, there is no dessert, just a bitter, disturbing end to tonight's chapter.

Who the heck cares, in the middle of a business conference, that Sara is/was a bastarda? Really, who cares?! (besides Meester Henry) If Sara had been a boy, there is no doubt Sev would have brought her to the hacienda from the beginning, been recognized by Sev, and given the DelMonte name.

It dawned on me tonight that Mateo cannot go off to a treatment facility because he HAS TO stay on the hacienda for one year to get his share of the inheritance. But, geez, his brothers have no clue how to help him stop drinking. Yikes.

Well, all I can say is thank goodness Sara was not raped. And that's the best thing I can say about tonight's episode.

Now that Modesto is back, will Adela be out of a much-needed job?

doris, you might get to bingo if Sara ends up in the hospital in a coma after the beating. The next episode will tell.

Jarifa, your summary was excellent. You recorded all the events superbly. Just exceptional.

You created a veritable verbal feast, the appetizer whetting our taste buds (for gossip); the main course where the dish was rare and bloody; scintillating sides. It was fitting this had no dessert. As you so wisely noted “Nothing was tasty enough tonight; just bitter”.

“Henry, whose nose is still bruised from the head butt” made me grimace as it wasn’t bruised enough.

Sara was mercilessly beaten; it was hard to watch. We know Pedro and Henry have an unholy alliance, but I can’t quite bring myself to believe Pedro knew about the attack in advance. Juan rightly realized there is a traitor in their midst. But it seems highly unlikely Pedro would tell Henry he likes Sara – why would he? Dante seemed beside himself and genuinely distraught. Real or imagined? All of this begs the question: is there another even more nefarious force at work? I have my suspicions.

Simon was completely beside himself meeting with Agustin. Although he seemed confident in what he saw Simon tells him he “didn't see everything that happened”. This makes sense as although Simon is a terrible human being, I don’t think he did completely abandon his father. Deb is sure that Simon will cruise to a bruise.

“Well, all I can say is thank goodness Sara was not raped. And that's the best thing I can say about tonight's episode” was sadly perfectly on point doris!

Catfight at the not so OK corral. Paloma is shellshocked at Irma’s appearance. “Sal tells Modesto that he thinks that Paloma will be safer married off to Simón than with her mother”. Au contraire.

“Mateo will not go to rehab but will agree to his brothers helping him cure his addiction.” Well that seems an intelligent course of action. Not.

The few seconds of sunshine was Berta, smilingly encouraging Modesto as they wheeled his suitcase “home”. I have such high hopes for this couple!

Jarifa, you did a marvelous job and at lightning speed – thank you. I can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode and look forward to reading your recap whenever you have it ready.

Diana

That beating was BRUTAL, I'm glad I didn't have to be the one to write about it, as I was averting my eyes most of the time, so THANK YOU, Jarifa, for "taking one" for the team.

It was obvious that Sara was the main target, since they only knocked Pedro unconscious and then they let him be. However, I don't think he was aware of what was coming, and the same goes for Dante.
If what we suspect is true, Sara is Dante's bio daughter, so he probably doesn't wanty her dead. Or, he just doesn't want to lose his main connection to the Del Monte fortune. Either way, he seemed terrified.

More later!

Adriana Noel

Great recap, Jarifa! Thank you!

Loved the way you organised your recap and the "Dessert--Nothing was tasty enough tonight; just bitter." Yep.

I can't believe Henry actually said that. I guess he was trying to "prove" that Sara isn't worthy of being a del Monte. Bastarda? Really? What an ugly word to call someone. He just showed that HE'S not worthy of even being in a del Monte meeting.

Speaking of the meeting, "Who the heck cares, in the middle of a business conference, that Sara is/was a bastarda? Really, who cares?! (besides Meester Henry) If Sara had been a boy, there is no doubt Sev would have brought her to the hacienda from the beginning, been recognized by Sev, and given the DelMonte name." ITA, doris. ITA with your whole comment.

Diana and Adriana (look at that, your names rhyme!), I am happy I didn't watch Sara's beating. Must have been awful.

I think I figured out why I find Sara and Juan's relationship SO cringe and icky. I think it's the fact that he sometimes mentions Sara as his sister. If Sara really is Dante's kid, she and Juan won't be step-siblings. It'll be best for everyone this way, won't it?

More later or mañana.

Jarifa, wow, I always record this show because I watch " Amor Va!iente" on Telemundo. I saw your recap this a.m. When I woke up. I started reading and couldnt believe that Sara and Pedro were attacked . I gobbled up this feast that you served. Thank you for every morsel . I hate violence , so I am now forewarned and can fast forward through the attack .

It seems that we are getting mistreatment of women in every shape and form in this show. ...from unequal pay ,to verbal abuse, to physical assaukts. Ugh

I have no idea exactly what is going on with Meester Henry , Dante, and Pedro . Are the three conspiring together, or did Pedro make separate nefarious deals with both Dante and Henry , and now Henry is more dangerous than Pedro realized? Will Pedro wake up and really as what he has gotten his family involved in ?

The way Juan reacted to the attack by bringing in bodyguards and warning Modesto to batten down the hacienda sounded almost like mafia stuff. Will this threat from outside the family make the brothers unite to defend themselves ? How is Pedro going to respond to this attack on Sara and himself ?

If we didn't think that Cornelia was a waste of oxygen before, we know it now after his nasty, hurtful comments to Berta about her interest in his Daddy. What a big baby.

Gracias, Jarifa.

It truly baffles me that Deborah and Juli Stepford just show up at the hacienda whenever it suits them to cause trouble. Juan seemed to finally see that at least Deborah shows up for that reason. He needs to ban her from the property. He did also previously suggest to Juli to not interact with him outside of the office so he needs to tell her again not to show up at the hacienda.

Deborah could be over-reaching herself by having Cornelio hire guys to beat Simon up. How does that show him not to mess with her? If she admits to it she only digs herself in... and Sara with her, based on how Simon and Mateo think.

I agree that Juan shouldn't refer to Sara as his sister. It seems that everyone in their town knows that he and all his brothers are adopted. Juan and Sara didn't grow up together. He didn't even know of her existence until the reading of the will. Since they didn't grow up as siblings they won't feel like siblings. Unless it can be proven that Juan was sired by Severiano, there is no real impediment to Sara and Juan being lovers.

I don't think this will go there because for all his tomcatting I don't think Severiano would have been interested in prostitutes. There is no ego or emotional satisfaction in it because it's a financial transaction with no element of conquest. Severiano was an intelligent and suave dude who had affairs. Presumably he had more going for him than his bank balance.

Did anyone else see the irony in Sara wearing white to the conference next to Pedro's consistent black? Did that make Henry's attack look even worse than it was?

On that subject, he really made himself look ridiculous because most cultures have evolved to not blame people for the circumstances of their birth. It is not Sara's fault that her parents were not married to each other or that she was the result of an adulterous affair. To also accuse her of boinking both Juan and Pedro was disgusting in addition to a rumor started by the "poor, innocent little me" Juli Stepford. I also doubt that the conference attendees are all blue-bloods.

I have no doubt that Henry is responsible for the attack. He made a public threat. Pedro was attacked for defending Sara, but will he suspect Henry? Based on Juan's reaction to the videos on Lucas' phone this is not a unique situation and Pedro is not stupid.

One final note: There was no law preventing Severiano from bringing Sara to the ranch. He had a famous example to follow on that -- Vicente Fernandez. That situation was worse because he had cheated on his wife with her own sister in that situation.

Maybe more later.

Urban, I haven't watched this episode yet , but I have noticed that Sara wears a lot of white, ivory, and beige. I keep hearing the term Coastal grandma on TV.

The worst part of Sara's beating was the guy kicking her repeatedly as she lay on the ground. She could easily have broken ribs and internal organ damage.

Urban - I noticed Sara's white suit. The good guys always wear white hats, etc. Virginal white a/k/a a color of purity and innocence. Telenovela wardrobe department always know what they are doing.

Jarifa - Sadly, "Coma" might get the first Bingo. Too bad it isn't one of the baddies.

Questions come up:
- Who warned Dante that Sara & Pedro were going to be attacked?
- Who set up the attack? (Surely Meester Henry didn't have enough time...or maybe he did)

At least Juan finally realized there is a mole in the organization.

Susanlynn - I've never heard the term "Coastal grandma" and had to go look it up. Well, I'm a landlocked grandma who pulls weeds in her 25 year-old nylon Umbro shorts. LOL

doris, the warning came supposedly from some of Dante’s “staff” who he had trail/spy on Henry’s “personnel”.

Urban, yes, Juan needs to ban Juli from the hacienda. She actually had the gall to refer to it as “hers” in the last episode.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Jarifa - Thanks on the info re: Dante's staff. I missed that part.

If Deb does not get a deserving anvil, I may have to give up on telenovelas. Or take a sabbatical.

Hubby is re-watching GOT before embarking on House of the Dragon. La Herencia doesn't have as much swords and gore, although the treachery and betrayal almost compare. Well, at least no one in LH has had their head chopped off. Yet.

"If what we suspect is true, Sara is Dante's bio daughter, so he probably doesn't wanty her dead. Or, he just doesn't want to lose his main connection to the Del Monte fortune. Either way, he seemed terrified". Yes he did Adriana!

But that leads to your question doris - who warned Dante about the attack??

I thought it might be Deb. But she would never jeopardize Sara, her golden goose. Setting her daughter up for a bloodbath would be too much even for her. Could it possibly be Juli?? Her blood is ice, but not totally frozen. If not, I can't think of who it might be, looking at our present cast of characters.

Diana

Jarifa, I had typed but not posted my comment above prior to seeing your comment. So, the warning came from Dante's staff. That would make sense although my gut feeling was it from someone in the inner circle.

Diana

Diana, I am totally confused as to who is aligned with who at this point. Why would Pedro risk Sara being killed as a result of the beating or he himself maybe never waking up after being knocked out. Of course, some character said early on in the novela that Pedro never really loved any woman. I was happy to see Berta with Modesto, too.

Adriana, all I can say is it was one exciting episode and this novela is surely keeping us thinking about many possibilities. Sort of makes my head explode. LOL

Weirdo, glad you enjoyed my “organization.” I was feeling silly last night. Yes, the whole BASTARDA thing was ridiculous. This is the 21st C right?

Susanlynn, yes! the “battening down the hacienda ” seemed like mafia stuff. I found it interesting that this was nothing new for Modesto. I wonder if Berta stayed with him as he closed everything down . . .

Thank you Jarifa for your fantastic recaps both yesterday and today. I am behind again and haven't watched either episode but I'll get caught up probably later today. They both sound like impactful episodes!

'Who the heck cares, in the middle of a business conference, that Sara is/was a bastarda? Really, who cares?!' I was thinking the same thing reading the recap!!! I have been in hundreds of business meetings and no one has ever called anyone out for being a bastard (well maybe, but they didn't mean it literally) and never has anyone stopped the presses to discuss who anyone else is or isn't sleeping with! That sounds like eighth grade to me. I know novelaland has it's own rules and customs but stuff like this makes me cringe because it's just so far removed from reality - you don't suspend disbelief a little, you suspend it to Jupiter. sigh

The beating sounds horrible but I haven't seen it yet, thankfully.

'This makes sense as although Simon is a terrible human being, I don’t think he did completely abandon his father.' I agree Diana!! And also, if Agustin watched all this happen and did nothing but watch then he too watched Sev die and did NOTHING to help!!! But I don't think Simon abandoned Sev, we've seen more than one flashback of him back at the car with dad after Sev is outside the car and we know he was there when his brothers arrived. I think Simon started to leave (what Agustin saw) and then came back.

I come from a big mixed family. I have siblings, half-siblings, step-siblings, step-parents, an adopted niece. I just wanted to point out no one in this story is a step-sibling to anyone else that we know of. You get a step-sibling when one of your bio parents marries a person who has a child; that child becomes your step-sibling. So if Sev had married Deb later in life that would make Sara the step-sibling - and also the adoptive sibling since she was Sev's bio daughter; but as it stands she's just their adoptive sister. It's a small thing but I've seen multiple comments on multiple episodes about step-siblings and it always throws me because I stop to think 'who has a step sibling in this show?'

I have been wondering who will be getting a shock when they find out their mystery parentage....I think Sara and her potential Dante daddy scenario is a good bet, but who else? Anyone? I really don't think Paloma is Sev's daughter, that would be funny but I am not betting on it. Urban, you make a good point about Sev and prostitutes, but the underlying assumption in that is that Juan and Pedro's mom was already a prostitute before either one of them was born. What if she wasn't?? If she wasn't already in the business before Juan was conceived than she could have been one of Sev's conquests. Not promoting the theory, just listing the possibilities. I am pretty sure we will have more than one paternity shakeup in this hacienda.

" ...but stuff like this makes me cringe because it's just so far removed from reality - you don't suspend disbelief a little, you suspend it to Jupiter."
Darcy et al ---- we really need to wear our telenovela beanie hats while watching this show. Maybe even tighten up the band and use the chin strap.

For the newbies: the concept is the Telenovela Beanie hat is so tight that it cuts off blood circulation and oxygen to the brain, we stop asking intelligent questions about some of the plot devices or characters we see in a show, and we just go with the flow.

If anyone doesn't have a TBH, we will overnite one to you from the MetaMart Patio kiosk. They are necessary accessories while watching many telenovelas.

Doris. ...yes, beanies have been a staple at caray since it was under the Pratie place site, I think One of the patio peeps actually knit or crocheted real beanies for those who wanted them !

And as someone once wrote in regards to one crazy show, " Let your mind float like a pear in jello. " I have found this to be wise advice for many of life's situations.

I sincerely hope that Pedro knew nothing about the attack. That would be truly despicable .

OT....Judy Judy judy....miss you...sending you kove, hugs, and prayers)))))

There is the possibility that Juan and Pedro's egg donor was married and her husband fell in love with long distance shortly after Pedro was born. The two little boys who play them in childhood are actual brothers off-camera; that isn't an accident. If they were born in that shack or fell on hard times after their sperm donor's departure their momster could be blaming their existence for that.

Need to comment on Berta: This actress has the kind of face that lends itself to being cast as a Victorian spinster. She owns this sort of character. Simon's nasty comment about her attraction to Modesto is just as repulsive as Henry calling Sara a bastard. This is a negative female stereotype that people should not be encouraged to see as the norm.

JCB would make an excellent Ben Cartwright, but there was definitely a curse on that family.

Urban, Who is JCB?

Darcy - Technically there are no step-siblings in this one, but I refer to Sara and Juan as step-siblings because their relationship is so complicated, that it's difficult to tell what they are exactly. I think I made a comment refering to other two people being step-siblings, but I must have been brain fogged or something, because a) I don't even remember who I was talking about and b) I don't think they're actually step-siblings? Maybe there was a slight chance or something? I can't remember.

Doris, thanks for the info on beanies. Personally, I had already checked out the Recap Vocabulary (or whatever it's called), but you summarized beanies perfectly! Thanks again!

P.S.: Darcy, glad to see you're making comments again. I had missed you, amiga.

Found my step-sibling comment. I wrote about... Paloma and Simón? QTH?

Okay, my logic was that when two people are together, their kids are kind of step-siblings and Irma, Paloma's mother and Severiano, Simón's dad, had an affair. I know they're not technically step-siblings, but their parents were together still, so...?

Or I could just skip the explanation and say two words only: Brain fog.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

JCB = Juan Carlos Barreto, who plays Modesto. This role could lead him to one as a rural patriarch in a future novela. He already looks like one.

I definitely can see Berta going for Modesto and I think they would be a great couple.

Fun fact: Juan Carlos Barreto is playing Padre José in La Madrastra. So for the people that will be in that patio with me, you'll see him again soon...

I noticed that. I think that's a first for him.

Doris, thank you for the beanie reminder. I know I need it and mine needs to be tighter but some characters….have I mentioned I hate this Henry guy? I grates on every single one of my nerves!

Weirdo, thanks for the clarification! I missed all of you and all the fun on the patio. I am happy to be back!

This is Darcy, my phone isn’t signed in.

Darcy, glad you're back!

Judy, hope you're doing OK. I miss your wise comments so much!

My theory on the whole plotting situation is like this:

Pedro has been plotting with Dante for a while (ever since Sev was alive, which means that Dante's talk with Sev about Pedro's bad actions is a "hmmm" moment). He recently started plotting with Henry in order to remove Juan from the president chair. Deb offered to become plotters together (pardon my English), but he said no (I guess being Deb's accomplice is where Pedro draws the line). He promised both Dante and Henry the Santa Catalina refugio and/ or the house, but I strongly believe he's just using that prized posession to keep them as his allies - his endgame has to be to become head of the house and possibly marriage to Sara.

Deb and Dante have been plotting together for a loooong time and been lovers, too (since when? how old is Sara?). But they will double cross one another for the right price.
Deb is also n cahoots with Cornelio, but this is mostly slick manipulation from her part, he will surely be the first to fall, because he's just that stupid.

I don't think Dante or Pedro were behind the attack. Their fear seemed genuine as the whole thing was happening.

And that leads us to Henry, who definitely planned the attack. Dante's men somehow discovered the plan because Juan had asked Dante to have Henry followed. The way Modesto knew axactly what to do when Juan said they were under attack makes it obvious that Sev had to deal with similar situations in the past, and Juan might have more knowledge than we assumed about those situations (and that's why he wasn't shocked about Dante's suggestion to finish off Henry once and for all).

Urban ,I think that the first time I saw the actress playing Berta was in the historical telenovela " Amor Real. " She played a Victorian spinster in that, I think .

Adriana, that was a great analysis ! Wow!

Veronia Jaspeado (Berta) wasn't in Amor Real; the spinster character was played by Chantal Andere.

She was, however, in Amarte es mi Pecado, the previous version of Mujer de Nadie.

Jarifa, thanks so much for the excellent recap of another difficult show. So much fighting and arguing.

Deb and Juli might be two of a kind. I hope Juan can see how Juli is. She was the one that told Simon that Sara was sleeping with Juan and Pedro. I wonder if she also told Henry. She and Pedro are the only two I can see trying to hurt the company from within. Juli to get Juan back and Pedro because he’s Pedro. Sara wouldn’t know enough about fertilizer and the land to mess with it. Which we all know she didn’t do anyway. But it sounds like there are a lot of outside enemies!

Sara’s beating was brutal. Very hard to watch. Almost anyone could be behind it, including a few of the brothers. I was surprised at Dante’s concern before the beating happened. I don’t trust him so he’ll have to prove his concern.

Bertha and Modesto were bright spots last night. Looking forward to what develops there!

Sal thinks Paloma would be better off with Simon than Irma. I have my doubts about that!

Looking forward to tonight!

Thanks, Jarifa. Super job. Your organization is perfecto, but then, any way you choose to dish out a recap is a treat.

I won't be shocked if there's a surprise about someone's bio-parent down the road, but I don't think it will involve Sara. It would be a letdown for Sara if Sev isn't her bio-dad. Knowing she was rejected by a great, revered (though in no way perfect) man has fueled her to become a successful, intelligent woman and a fighter.

Mr. Henry ordering the attack is a colossal beanie moment. He threatened Juan he'd get him where it would most hurt, and he made a public fool of himself calling Sara names at the conference. No CSI needed here. The police better lock him up quick.

Now, who is the mole? I can't see Pedro sharing that his and Juan's mom was a prostitute. Maybe Dante would though. I don't believe Pedro is behind the attack, but he's done enough dirty stuff separately with Mr. Henry and Dante that he should figure he's been unknowingly instrumental in helping it happen.

Deb surprised me asking Cornelio to arrange a beatdown for Simon. I thought she'd do something like leak secrets about Simon or screw up his engagement with Paloma.

Jarifa, the recap covered everything, thank you.
Hated, hated seeing Sarah get kicked so viciously and often. Seems to me that novelas don't show that type of attack on women usually, unless it's done by a husband or novio. Don't like it then, either.
How long is this novela? I'm ready to see genuine changes in some characters, like Mateo. We know all the personalities pretty well by now, so no need to keep showcasing their weaknesses. Think of how one change would affect the family dynamics! Just one....ooh.
I recently read an interesting article about avocado imports into the U.S.
For 25 years, only the state of Michoacan has had U.S. approval for export here. Now, Jalisco has been given certification to also export here.
Who knew!?
There are problems with extortion by cartels, so maybe Severiano & Modesto experienced that and knew to be ready for any threats.
Going back to a previous episode - omg, Juan's tattoos are awful. Seriously, I'd be so distracted by them...ain't nothing happening tonight baby!

I think my comment got gobbled up (or maybe I forgot to click "Publish"!), so I'll try again.

Super job, Jarifa. Love the way you organized the recap, but honestly any way you choose is always a treat.

I don't think Dante or Pedro are behind the attack, but both have entered into secret alliances that have unintentionally abetted the attack. Pedro gets clunked on the head (once?), but Sara gets clunked and kicked, multiple times. That tells me whoever is behind it sees Pedro as either a partner or neutral.

I don't think we need CSI. Mr. Henry threatened to get Juan where it hurts most, and he humiliated himself publically in trying to humiliate Sara. I hope we see handcuffs on him tonight.

Niecie, your first comment was eaten by the Spam Monster but I dug it out and restored it.

Thanks, Rgv Chick!
