La herencia, #53 #54, Monday "Hate thy mother, despise thy brother, kill thy neighbor"
This is a bit long, so hold on tight!
Capitulo 53
Dante on the phone learning about Juan’s “embezzlement”.
Huge dinner with everyone in the cast
eating and thanking Modesto. Juli is so hypocrite in her appreciation that Deb
can’t help but sarcastically comment on it. And when Tadeo asks his father to
take him to the bathroom, both Cornelio and Pedro reply. Awkward… Pedro is the one
to take care of Tadeo and the boy takes advantage of their time alone to ask
him who Henry is. When Pedro asks “Henry who?” Tadeo says he means the one
Senor Dante killed. Boom!
Pedro scolds Tadeo for making this up, but
Tadeo insists he heard him tell this to Senora Deborah. Pedro reassures Tadeo
that he believes him and makes him promise (pinky promise) that this will be
their secret.
Bertha, Adela and Bea all agree that Deb is
annoying, but Bertha needs the money because she wants to ask Cornelio’s
permission to marry his father. Giggles all around. Have these two even kissed
yet? Does she even know if Modesto can still “perform” – you know, at his age,
and seeing that he’s only had one child and we haven’t heard of any lovers out
there keeping his love letters locked up, how do we know if he’s potent enough?
Cornelio stands to thank for being invited
to eat with them. Then he leaves, and the Cruz family do the same, just as Bertha
assures everyone that she will take care of Modesto personally. Deb is rude
with her, so Sara reassures her, since she isn’t the one who pays her salary.
Juan makes the mistake of asking Juli if
she’s had enough to eat, so she answers that Severianito (try to say it three
times in a row) is full and, by the way, she and Juan are getting married next week!
(Deb’s face is the best at the news). Sara and Bryan go to the study, Lucas
takes Alondra home.
Deb tells Juli she is the new owner of the Millan
shop, and no, she didn’t steal the boutique, Rosa gave it to her. Maybe Simon
could help with some therapy sessions before Rosa ends up crazier than he is
(honest suggestion, in my opinion). Simon stands, but Paloma stops him from
bursting. Deb reassures Juan everything was done legally, it’s not her fault
Rosa is such a tonta. Juli gets mad and slaps Deb, Mateo runs from the
other side of the room to stop her hand midair before Deb can slap Julieta back…
Juli is frustrated she never had the chance to see the contract, wants to go
see her parents, Paloma tells her she is already “on the case” and Juan asks
her to calm down, don’t hurt the bebe. Mateo gets back to his seat, he might talk
a good game with his Julieta Baby, but he’s still a fool for love.
Bryan asks Sara for a bigger salary and she
says she will check with Simon see how much more they can pay him. When she
finds out Bryan is getting ready to start University, she even suggests that
there might be something better for him to do than just work at the ranch. Bryan
is very grateful, but asks her not to tell Pedro about their conversation, he
might get upset. Sara doesn’t think so, but she promises to keep this to herself.
Then Bryan asks if they are going to lose their house.
When Sara asks for an explanation, Pedro
walks in and Sara wonders if he has any information about this. Pedro says Juan
should know about it, Bryan tries to evade by saying maybe he understood wrong
and wants to leave. After just promising five seconds ago to be discreet, Sara
tells Bryan he will have his raise!! Pedro, all smiles and hypocritical pat on
the back, adds: “Sure, Bryan, why didn’t you say something before?” Bryan
leaves in a hurry, he understands he made a mistake, but he has no clue what a
dangerous enemy he’s just made.
After Bryan leaves, Sara wants to go talk
to Juan about Augusto’s house, but Pedro doesn’t want her to fight with Juan
again, he will handle this. He kisses her hand and leaves, Sara is smiling from
ear to ear, unaware of anything and everything.
Simon and Paloma thank Augustin and Brandon
for being there for Modesto, even Cornelio sat at the table with them. Yeah, Brandon
adds, even Corni and Deb are friends now. What, what? Brandon explains how he
once saw them chat in the street, can’t really remember when (the flashback
tells us it was the time Deb asked for Corni’s help with Simon). Brandon
eventually says the talk happened more than a month before and Simon
immediately says this is when he was attacked.
Juan tells Modesto that Mateo is giving up
on his inheritance and he understands and thinks that his responsibility as a
big brother finishes when his siblings start making their own decisions in life.
Mateo is happy Juan understands, Modesto says thank you for sharing this with
me, remembers carrying baby Mateo in his arms, how proud his parents would be
of him. Mateo and Modesto hug, then Mateo says Juan is the best brother he
could have and what he did tonight, having all these people sit at the same table
to eat, was an example of letting go of social prejudice.
Bea, Sara and Paloma are having a drink at
the bar. Paloma hasn’t sang in a while, Bea says she can sing, too, so the girls
encourage her to give it a try. So Bea sings, while Sara thought bubbles about
missing Juan.
The song finishes in a duet, with Paloma joining
Bea on stage. Everyone claps, Sara thinks they should really do a duet
together. Paloma says Simon would never allow it, she hasn’t even dared to tell
him she has some plans and is searching for a job as a lawyer. Sara is shocked,
but gets interrupted by Sal arriving with some food.
Then Sara asks the million pesos question: the
other day Bea mentioned how Paloma, Julieta and she could be sisters! Bea says
she didn’t mean it, it’s not like the entire town is related through Severiano,
right? Sara decides to change the subject, but how great would it be to be
sisters? She hugs Paloma, who remembers that moment when her mom told her she
looked like her dad, but not Sal. Bea jokingly asks Sara if she’d hug Julieta
the same way, Paloma quickly says she has to send Prospero a document she’d
forgotten about. Sal notices the scene.
Paloma runs to her room, crying over the possibility that she might not be Sal’s daughter.
In town Simon runs into Corni and asks what
is his connection to Deb. Corni says they have nothing in common and wants to
leave in a hurry, but Simon follows him to say he must be hiding something,
Brandon saw them together. Corni ends up admitting that his only mistake was
ever trusting her, when she came to him asking for help finding some men to do
a job for her, he recommended the same men who attacked the ranch. Victoriano
might be the one who attacked you, he adds.
Simon remembers the attack and realized it
had been Victoriano, indeed, he knew Deb had to have been involved. Corni
insists he didn’t do anything, he just kept quiet because they had all been
accusing him, he wanted to avoid other conflicts. But Simon doesn’t fall for
this, he can see how nervous Corni is. When he will have the proof, he will
take care of him, too.
Aurora has come to visit Pedro and Juan.
When she tells them who she is, they both make killer eyes (yes, Pedro and
Juan, too).
“How dare you come here? Largate!”
Pedro screams and he grabs her arm violently. She is shocked by how sudden this
is (you ain’t seen nothing yet!). Juan pushes Pedro away, asks Aurora what she
wants, she has NOTHING to do here. When she dares say that she is their mother,
Juan adamantly replies their mother is Catalina. He’s very upset, but nothing
compared to Pedro, who grabs Aurora’s neck, saying she’s dead for them and has
been dead ever since the day she hit them first. He will never forgive her and
if she ever calls him son again, he swears he will kill her. Juan pushes him off
her again, she whines about just wanting a few minutes, she deserves at least
that. Juan says even a hyena is a better mother, and demands her to get out.
Aurora mentions second chances, knows she hurt them… Pedro asks Juan to throw
her out, or else nothing will stop him. Juan asks Adela to escort Aurora out of
the ranch and be sure that she is never allowed access again. Aurora leaves
running, Pedro screams behind her, while Juan looks on in shock.
Aurora gets out of the ranch, with Adela following her, making sure that she really leaves. Dante walks by, as cool as a cucumber.
Paloma is still up in her room. Sal comes to talk to Sara and Bea, he is happy the three of them are friends. He will never stop defending his daughter, even if she is now married, so he has to asks Sara for a favor: he’s afraid Simon might hurt her. Sara reassures him that Simon loves Paloma, but nevertheless, he will never hurt another woman his entire life.
In the study, Pedro is still furious. Juan
assures his brother that woman will never hurt them again. Pedro says he should
have done something about it when she went looking for Sara, which is news for
Juan. Why did she come back after all this time? Pedro begs Juan not to forgive
her, and Juan assures him he won’t, but Pedro has to stay calm, not do
something stupid. Pedro reminds him of all they’ve had to suffer as kids and
Juan is very aware of this, but he can’t come up with a solution if he stops
being rational about it. Pedro sees only one solution: that woman has to stop
existing.
Sara is still worried about Paloma, who comes
down trying to dissimulate, wonders why Simon is late. Sara apologizes for
joking earlier, Paloma smiles, she’d love to be Sara’s sister, but she only has
one dad, Salvador. And there he is, coming with her food. Paloma thanks him and
kisses him.
Bea would like to spend a day at the beach.
Sara suggests a day in Mexico City. Paloma is worried about work, Sara finds
out Deb is now owner of the Millan boutique.
Alone in the study, Juan is still shaken up
when Dante comes in. He tells him about his real mother showing up. Dante acts
surprised, was it the woman he just saw going out? Juan asks Dante to
investigate her, he has to defend his brother by removing her from their lives
forever.
Pedro is on the phone, asking someone to investigate
Aurora, too. Then he sees Bryan and apologizes about the raise, he didn’t know it
was urgent. He will loan Bryan some money, but nobody has to know about it.
Bryan would rather wait for the raise, his mom taught him to only spend what he
earns. But Pedro insists, he is loaning him the money because he is such a hard
worker. But since they have to keep it a secret, they should meet at night; he
will have a check ready for him. I didn’t understand where he wants to meet,
but Bryan looks startled for a second, I bet Pedro’s chamber of torture can’t
be far away from their meeting place. But then Pedro mentions a present, too,
and Bryan, simple mind that he is, gets overjoyed. Happy dying, Bryan, you’ll
be missed (kinda...)
Deb is at home, reading one of Rosa’s love
letters and laughing out loud. Bertha tells her this is not the polite thing to
do, what is her endgame anyway, so Deb says she plans to reveal the letters to
Prospero when the time is right. Bertha is appalled, but hidden underneath I
can almost see Veronica Jaspeado smiling at Elizabeth Alvarez’ perfect delivery
of the line.
Bertha declares she can’t work for Deb
anymore, she has values. Deb gets mad, asks Bertha to get out immediately.
Simon walks in just as Bertha is leaving. He confronts Deb about the attack,
and she admits it was her, such a shame it was only a scare, and an even bigger
shame is that he has no proof. Oh, no, Simon says Corni is all the proof he
needs, he told him what happened. Deb is startled, but she has a comeback:
maybe Corni should have a DNA test done, too, he might end up being their
brother and have a right to the inheritance. Simon threatens her again, Deb thinks
he’s ridiculous, maybe he should concern himself with his wife instead of attacking
her.
Rosa and Juli are back from shopping for
Severianito del Monte. Juli asks her mom how she can be so calm after the way
Deb took her company. She wouldn’t even allow her to look over the contract.
Rosa says Paloma, who is a lawyer, will help them and besides, she is calm
because she has a surprise: she and dad are renewing their vows.
Sara arrives and Rosa asks her if she doesn’t
want to see some of the baby clothes they bought for the baby. Juli laughs and
I bet this is the actress laughing at the scene.
Sara ignores them splendidly, she goes
straight to her mom’s room, to find Simon and Deb still fighting. When Simon tells
Sara what he just found out about Deb, Deb plays the innocent. Simon storms out,
Sara asks if it’s true what he said. Deb lies again, Sara asks about the Millan
boutique, asks her mother to return it to the family. Deb refuses, Rosa gave
her the company and she is a business woman. Has Sara become mellow again, does
she want Rosa and Julieta to eat her alive? Sara just wants the problems to
stop, so she has to return the company. Also, if she had something to do with
what happened to Simon, she will press charges against her in person. And she calls her Deborah again.
As Dante and Juan leave the study, Rosa
asks Juan about some money he needed to give her. Juan already made a deposit. Rosa
goes to ask Bertha for a tea, leaving Juan and Julieta alone. She wants him to
come with her to the doctor’s the next day. The baby kicks, they both smile, Juli
promises to be the best mom and to give their son a good family, she will fight
for that because she loves him. Juan is sure his son will have a good mother,
Julieta thanks him for allowing their son to be born in a family. And then she kind
of kisses him, Juan barely allows it, but Sara has been witnessing the whole
scene from upstairs and for her it all looks much worse.
Lucas is doing a live, telling all his
viewers that Modesto is doing much better. Modesto is ashamed, he doesn’t like
not being in his own bedroom, wonders about his son, Cornelio and the people in
the kitchen. But no, Lucas wants Modesto to stay in his room, so he can take
better care of him. He tells Modesto that he plans to visit Amado and his other
brothers soon, and Modesto is very proud of him.
In the kitchen, Rosa kind of apologizes to Bertha
(without actually saying “I’m sorry”). Bertha says she’s leaving the ranch,
Rosa asks her to come back to work for her, they all need her at the house.
Bertha tells Rosa that Deb has her letters, Rosa says those letters are not a
big deal, just platonic messages, like something you’d send a movie star.
Bertha warns her Deb plans to show the letters to Prospi.
Sara comes down the stairs and Juan asks
her to talk about something very important. Sara says she doesn’t have the
time, Juan insists, saying it’s a delicate matter that they need to talk in
private. When Juli asks if she can join, Juan says no, they will talk later.
LOL
Juan tells Sara Aurora came to see them and asks about the visit at the company. Sara explains she didn’t want to interfere and she told Aurora as much. Juan is visibly hurt, says Aurora’s eyes haven’t changed, they are as vicious as they ever were. There came a time when the beatings didn’t even matter that much, her words hurt them more. And the things she’d do without carrying that he and Pedro could see her… He stops, unwilling to continue, but Sara encourages him to speak, she’s there for him. She holds his hand.
Capitulo 54
Juan says he wanted to tell Aurora so many
things, but he couldn’t, how could Sara forgive their father? Sara says she
never did, but she learned to live with it, not get consumed by revenge, look
towards the future. She advises Juan to get some closure with that woman, for
him and for his brother. Juan thanks her, he needed to share this with her. And
he leans over, caresses her cheek. They almost kiss, but Sara stands, asking
when is his wedding. It’s soon, Juan replies, but this won’t be a marriage of
love, he will never be able to love Juli the way he loves her… But his son
needs him and he has to sacrifice their love. He tries to kiss her again, but
Sara avoids it. She understands, because they were both born in broken families
and he has to do the right thing. When Juan asks if she feels something for
Pedro, she gets upset and leaves the study.
Still with Modesto, Lucas remembers his mom
Catalina dying, in front of all the grown boys and Severiano. In the flashback Pedro
turns his back, crying, as Severiano apologizes to his wife and Catalina asks
him to take care of her sons. She adds that she loves them all and asks them
never to forget her. The boys say their I love you’s and good bye’s one by one,
first Juan, then Mateo, Simon hugs her; Pedro turns to stand at her feet,
speaking about how she saved him from so much pain and then Lucas says goodbye,
too. Catalina tries to give her bendicion to the boys, but she dies
before she can finish. They are all sobbing. Back to the present Lucas
remembers how frail his mother was and nobody could do anything about it and we
get a split screen of all the brothers looking just as sad as the day their
mother died.
At Avocados RUS, Pedro asks Dante about
killing Henry. Dante tries to deny this, but Pedro ruffles him up a bit, asking
if Juan sent him to kill Henry. And is he the one who found Aurora, too? If he
finds out Dante was behind all of this, he will end him for good. Dante warns
him not to provoke him, it’s basically a cock fight with mortal implications
Rosa wants Bertha’s help with Deb, who
can’t be allowed to reveal those letters. She promises to give her more money,
make her an associate at the company as soon as she gets it back. She begs and
wants to kneel, Bertha asks her for some time… Deb arrives to ask Bertha why
she’s still around and Bertha says she’s back working for her ex patrona and
staying in Santa Catalina.
Deb wants to throw Bertha out, she gets
into it with Rosa about Prospi and the company. They both think the other is
worse, Rosa asks for her letters back, Deb can’t wait for Prospi’s reaction
when he finds out. Rosa promises to throw her out as soon as Juli becomes owner
of the ranch. Besides, she and Propsi are getting married again and Paloma will
help them get back their company. And Deb will end up in jail.
Juli asks Juan what was the talk with Sara
about. Juan wants to talk to Juli about their wedding, he only wants a legal ceremony
for now. He can’t lie in front of God, they are doing this for their son, and
this is everything he can give her. Juli reluctantly agrees, notices that
something is wrong and Juan tells her his real mother showed up. He knows what
it means to be raised with a mother who has been hurt, he can’t repeat the
story.
Alondra comes to visit Lucas, they both go
to his therapy.
Juli asks about what Juan felt seeing his
mother. Juan dislikes the name, says he’s worried about Pedro. Juli thinks he
can’t take care of Pedro forever, but Juan disagrees. And he leaves. Juli grabs
a onesie from the coffee table (maybe someone should take those baby clothes
upstairs, wherever they hid that fancy crib). She says she doesn’t care about
Juan’s mother, all she cares about is her wedding, even if it’s just a civil
ceremony for now. Baby steps…
At the company, Mateo and Brandon are at
the kindergarten, where the kids will be taught about robotics. Brandon starts
his lesson… recapper break.
Sara and Bea arrive, Bruno tells her the
architect is coming this week to do some work in her office. Pedro wants to
talk to Sara.
He’s upset because he thinks Juan could
forgive their mother. Sara says she talked to Juan, and he’s feeling very bad,
too. Pedro is not so sure, Juan always wants to be so charitable, he might even
invite her to live at the ranch. He doesn’t know what to think anymore,
especially since now he found out something else: the proof he’s mentioned
before. He hands Sara some papers, account statements, where she sees the amounts
missing from the company. And the account is in Juan’s name, Pedro hurries to
mention. Sara is in shock! She can’t believe Juan would do such a thing. Pedro
pretends to be upset, too, he even shared this with Simon and they were both
reluctant to believe it until they found the proof. Just as Sara asks what are
they supposed to do with this information, Juan walks in. He asks what is going
on and Sara lies they are talking about their next meeting, they are planning a
way to show their new partners how transparent the company affairs are. Juan
asks to see the plans, but Pedro says this is just a draft, he will have the
final version soon. Juan wants to talk to Sara alone, mentions in passing that
soon enough they will be able to share the same office. Pedro is surprised,
Sara leaves without saying a word.
At the Bar Simon is still fuming about Deb,
Paloma tries to calm him. Simon wants to talk to Pedro about it because he’s sure
Juan would only say that they need proof first. Paloma agrees with Juan, Simon
says they are all in danger while Deb is living in their house. Paloma warns
him not to go too far.
Deb meets with Corni, to reproach him
having spilled the beans to Simon. And she slaps him, but Corni slaps her back
and the shock on Deb’s face is amazing. They actually start to struggle and Deb
has to defend herself with her stiletto. He accuses Corni of putting them both
in danger, because Simon is capable of anything. He was a coward, starting now
he has to do everything she tells him to do.
Sara goes back to her office, Bea tells her
everything is on track with the new contract. She notices something is wrong,
Sara confirms that something terrible is happening. She can’t talk about it,
though. Bea knows Sara in hurting because she loves Juan, but she has Pedro
also. She knows better than anyone else what a charmer Pedro can be. Sara asks
Bea if she wants her to stay away from Pedro. Bea says she is her friend, that’s
why she’s asking her not to allow her mind to win in the battle with her heart.
Sara says she sees Juan as a person who can light up the world (ser de luz),
Pedro is different. Bea talks about how hard it is to be a woman: if you work,
it means you are neglecting your child, if you stay home, you are a mantenida;
when she allowed Corni to beat her she was an idiot, but when she cheated, she
was a maldita. People can always point out one’s mistakes so easily, it’s
not fair.
Brandon in the kindergarten with Mateo, who
is remembering his drunken confession to Juan that Juli’s baby is his.
Sal asks Paloma and Simon to come to dinner. Simon is happy to accept the invitation, Sal mentions that Augustin and
Adela will be invited, too. Sal says he wants to keep an eye on Paloma, he’s
worried about Deb, he doesn’t trust her. Simon asks Sal if he has anything that
he’d like to share about Deb and Paloma encourages him to speak, too.
Sal doesn’t want to talk, he says he’s just
feeling bad after everything that happened with Modesto. Simon then tells him
Deb ordered his attack and Sal remembers Deb threatening to make Paloma’s life
very hard inside the ranch. Simon asks Sal to come to dinner at Santa Catalina,
which is Paloma’s home now. And Adela and Augie can join them. Sal doesn’t
think he’ll feel good going, asks them both to take care of each other.
Juan and Pedro talk about their mother. Pedro
gets angry immediately, Juan tells him seeing her reminded him of their past
life. But he loves his brother and he will never allow that woman to hurt him.
Pedro says he loves him, too, but he can’t reminisce about the past, he just
wants that woman gone. Juan asks him to forget about the past, he wants to
protect him the way he couldn’t when they were kids. Pedro is afraid he won’t
be able to refrain himself if he sees her again, he wants to kill her. Juan
plans to go talk to her, Pedro is afraid she will manipulate him into forgiving
her. What good would it do to talk to her, remember the good old days when she
starved them and beat them? Juan only wants to know why she’s back, it can’t
only be to ask for forgiveness.
Pedro comes to take Sara home, but she
wants to stay a bit longer at work, she had already refused Bea’s offer to
leave together. Sara asks about Juan, Pedro says he doesn’t know, caresses Sara’s
head, gives her a kiss on the hair…
Prospi is reading a marriage counselling
book, he suggests Jess do the same with Bryan. Jess thinks there is no need for
that, they are very much in love. Rosa arrives with Bertha, everyone is happy,
Prospi is sure they will be OK. Bryan comes to say he needs to go out for a
bit. Jess smells him, thinks he looks to pretty, makes a huge fuss about it. Bertha
reminds them confidence is important, Rosa takes Jess’ side, Bryan says he’s
going in search of progress. Oh, boy!
It’s late and there is nobody else at the Bar,
but a waitress, who tells Corni that Sal is gone to have dinner at the ranch.
Corni is in a very bad mood.
Sal is at the ranch, looking at Sev and
Cata’s picture on the wall, thought bubbling that Sev will never take his
daughter. He is welcomed by Paloma, Simon and Tadeo. Adela and Augustin arrive,
too, thankful to have been invited. Simon is happy to have them all in the
house, especially since Adela is his father-in-law’s fiancé. He asks to talk to
Augie alone in the study.
Alone with Simon, Augie says he misses Sev
a lot. Simon wants to talk about the day of the accident, why was he around?
Augie explains how he was feeling bad and left the harvest to go home; he saw “everything”
that happened, but Simon asks him to be more clear. Augie admits he was feeling
dizzy, but he did see him run from the scene. Simon asks him to speak upfront,
is he accusing him of having killed Severiano?
Deb tells Dante how upset she is with
Corni, but he got his punishment. Dante asks her what she plans to do with
Tadeo, he’s sure he was the one who told Pedro.
Mateo gets out of his bathroom, wearing
only a towel and runs into Julieta, who was waiting for him. He asks what does
she want, she starts kissing him directly. He keeps asking what she wants, she
says she wants to prove him that he’s only in love with her. Mateo says his
love died the day she lied about their baby. Julieta insists the baby isn’t
his, but Mateo is sure she’s lying, because they never stopped sleeping
together (!!) and he can put two and two together. He doesn’t know what she did
to manipulate the paternity test, though.
Bryan has arrived to meet Pedro and yes, it
is at his chamber of torture. Pedro is waiting for him inside, playing with a
lighter, looking creepier than ever.
Sara is alone in her office, thinking about Pedro giving her the “proof” of Juan’s guiltiness. A man is approaching her office, I can actually recognize Juan’s ankles. He comes inside, looks distraught, says he can’t take it anymore… and kisses her. Better to ask for forgiveness than for permission, am I right? Wink wink…

I particularly loved “Mateo gets back to his seat, he might talk a good game with his Julieta Baby, but he’s still a fool for love”; “Sara is smiling from ear to ear, unaware of anything and everything” and “Happy dying, Bryan, you’ll be missed (kinda...)”.
I felt for both brothers, their “killer eyes” glaring at the woman who gave them life but who abused them mercilessly, sapping any and all joy out of what should have been a happy childhood. A monster.
.
Catalina’s death scene was haunting.
“Deb is startled, but she has a comeback: maybe Corni should have a DNA test done, too, he might end up being their brother and have a right to the inheritance”. I’ve been speculating about this for some time and hope he listens. Before he is murdered.
“Paloma says Simon would never allow it, she hasn’t even dared to tell him she has some plans and is searching for a job as a lawyer”. ‘Nuff said.
Thank God the crib was finally moved.
Deb is a bad a** those spikes certainly came in handy!
That one little boy in the classroom looked like Mateo! So sweet.
Adriana, a fabulous recap. Thank you, thank you!
Diana
Things are really starting to unravel now. Pedro is out of control just as Dante had planned. Nice that the kids’ observations were what got the balls rolling.
Loved Deb and her handy stiletto, heels of course but used as the legendary knife. Yep, she has marked Cornelio if he lives long enough. Deb just might go down as one of the best female villains ever since she can be decidedly brutal at the drop of a hat but at the same time is very entertaining.
Diana, Catalina’s death scene was “haunting” and hard to watch. They have done a good job with flashbacks in this novela.
I loved "Happy dying, Bryan, you will be missed (kinda...)". I was laughing.
"Paloma says Simon would never allow it, she hasn’t even dared to tell him she has some plans and is searching for a job as a lawyer." Can you spot the two things that are wrong in this sentence?
"Juan says that even a hyena is a better mother" Well, hyenas are very protective parents and are considered one of the best parents in the animal kingdom, so this comparison is insulting to the hyenas. I'm glad Pedro and Juan both kicked Aurora out. One of the few scenes where I loved Pedro.
Theory time:. What if Paloma is Sal's daughter, but Irma thinks she's Sev's? That explains the weird flashbacks and Irma's words and shortens the Severiano Del Monte family tree a bit.
I have no doubt that Aurora was looking for money and not caring whom that would come from. If she was looking for forgiveness it could only be if the Reaper were knocking at her door.
I have never doubted that Julieta's pregnancy was due to Mateo. I truly hope he is over her now that she has used this pregnancy to parlay her way to Juan, who is clearly the strongest of the brothers. His share of the inheritance might not be greater but he is the sanest of them despite his monster of a mother. Mateo's declaration that he does not care to meet his birth parents and has no curiosity about them was interesting; did he ever tell Simon that? The way he is relating to the kids in that class shows that he will heal and become a good father.
We still know nothing of Simon's bio-parents.
The paternity issue about the three young women should be resolved fairly soon. If both Paloma and Julieta are also Sevriano's how could that affect the will? If Dante is proven to be Sara's sperm donor does the will get invalidated because he drew it up? This assumes that his scheme to funnel all the dinero into his fake charities is not discovered first.
For all his pig-headedness Salvador still seemed to have been a good father to Paloma. What bugged me about the saloon scene is the sexism in the food served to the three girls. Why are they always served salads while the men in such a place would be eating steak?
I hate the idea of Brayan dying. He is foolhardy but young and has much to learn. He's also studly and -- in telenovelandia -- could therefore have healthy and attractive kids with Jessica.
About men Modesto's age there is a saying: "There may be snow on the roof but there's still fire in the furnace." I think he and Berta will be fine. He looks very confident in the title sequence when he smiles at her and tips his Stetson. I'm sure that spinsters in the Old West were often able to marry older widowers with children because of the shortage of women there in that era.
Saving the best for last....
Deborah is a Sante Kimes with a daughter who is an unwitting accomplice. She operates with the same level of cruelty. The way she used her stiletto heel against Cornelio was too expert for this to have been thinking on her feet; she has to have done this before. I've talked about the witch imagery since she first appeared on camera and here is where it reached the peak of its bloom. Her eyes were absolutely demonic.
Do I think too much?

I hope Deb and Dante don't harm Tadeo. Cat is out of the bag that Dante killed Henry , but arrogant , out of control Pedro still isn't afraid of Dante. Pedro thinks he is titanium and is the puppetmaster. .
Went to our local high school soccer game last night , so I only saw the last 15 minutes , but I recorded the show . When I watch , I will know what is being said thanks to your detailed recap. ( Our soccer team is going great 11 to 0. The coach is a friend ,)

"I can actually recognize Juan’s ankles." LOLOL!
So Juli and Mateo never stopped sleeping together? Even though she was engaged to Juan and everything? Wow. Unexpected!
"Bryan has arrived to meet Pedro and yes, it is at his chamber of torture." I give Bryan a 10% of survival. As Adriana said it, he will be missed... kinda.
Thanks again, Adriana, for both recaps!
Brayan will be missed (sort of) lol. Is Pedro really going to kill him? Has he killed anyone himself yet? Doesn’t he make Dante do the actual killing?
So rounding up all the suspicions we are supposed to believe that Juli, Paloma, and Sara could all be sisters; Corni needs a paternity test too now, anyone else??? So not only did Sev sleep with every woman in town, he impregnated them all too??? I am not even going to look for my beanie - just going to repeat again that I don’t buy it. Paloma isn’t Sev’s. Corni isn’t Sev’s. Juli is a maybe, and I still think there is one bio child among the adopted brothers, probably Juan but Simon would be the most interesting revelation considering his daddy issues…..Sarah is Dante’s….. just my guesses.
I agree Deb is the most enjoyable villain I have seen in a very long time. The actress is spectacular in this role!
"I can actually recognize Juan’s ankles."
I recognized the shoes. LOL
Looks like Mateo isn't quite over Julie.
Pedro seeing his birth mother has unhinged him even more.
I fear for Brayan's life, after seeing Pedro in the dungeon of torture with that cigarette lighter, probably to punish him for going to Sara for the raise and info on the house. Pedro is descending into total madness.
Was anyone else totally creeped out when Pedro was stroking Sara's hair, and kissing it? My skin was crawling.
I'm mad at Sara, who used really poor judgement by making two serious mistakes:
1.) she told Brayan she wouldn't say a word about giving him a raise, and then she confirmed it in front of Pedro as Brayan was walking out of the room.
2.) joking that she, Juli, and Paloma could all be sisters in front of Paloma. Does Sara not know this could be a sore subject for Paloma? Caray.
Both behaviors were insensitive.
Ay, Cornelio, methinks your days are numbered.
In a scene with Paloma and Simón coming down the stairs, Paloma tripped or almost fell on one of the bottom stairs, quickly recovered, and Simon quietly asked if she was okay. That seemed to be completely unscripted.
Paloma is NOT the character I want to 'FALL DOWN STAIRS' so it can be marked on my Bingo card. I still feel that the escalera of doom is biding its time.
Will Pedro set his torture dungeon on fire so I can check off "FIRE (NOT IN FIREPLACE)" on my Bingo card?
Darcy, I don't think Brayan is going to die either. I fear Pedro has something else in mind. Purelys speculation, but I didn't like all the candles and the lighter.
Weirdo, thank you for the info on hyenas. Minks eat their young, would that be an acceptable substitute? :)
"About men Modesto's age there is a saying: "There may be snow on the roof but there's still fire in the furnace." I just samiled Urban! That and your observation Modesto will be just fine were great. I totally concur!
"...ut arrogant , out of control Pedro still isn't afraid of Dante. Pedro thinks he is titanium and is the puppetmaster" was well said Susanlynn. By his livid expession, I dare say Dante did not appreciate Pedro's manhandling.
doris, your comments on Sara were very astute. She broke her own promise instantaneously and her remark to Paloma was rather astonishing. Her intuitive kindness momentarily fled. And yes, Cornelio is not long for this world. I am hoping the writers follow up on the DNA possibility.
Diana
She still doesn't know who Pedro really is.
Oh no, Pedro. I still care about Pedro but he has crossed the line into madness. Bryan, follow your instincts, turn around, and leave! Adela doesn't deserve this. I sure hope something/somebody turns up to interrupt Pedro.
Good going, Tadeo and Brandon! You boys are great eavesdroppers and moved this tale along. But, ugh, Dante and Deb are not pleased with Tadeo...
Yep, Deb's stiletto to Cornelio's face was sweet. She made need to try that out on Dante one day.
Bertha needs the money because she wants to ask Cornelio’s permission to marry his father.
I wish I knew Spanish well enough to laugh at this silly in real time.
Yep, Juan’s slender long legs gave him away. And the shoes could use a bit of polish. Pedro wins the fashion contest hands down.
He can’t lie in front of God.
I loved Juan saying that to Julieta.
Salad versus steak. Urban, I knew there was something different about the women's dishes, but I couldn't see them well enough.
Doris, ITA Sara was thoughtless in her crack about sisters. Paloma and her, albeit gruff, dad have had a loving relationship and this was hurtful. When Sara made that crack I thought as nice and kind as Sara is a little bit of Deb has seeped into her.
I thought about Bingo too at Paloma's unscripted slip on the bottom stairs. Thank goodness it was at the bottom or she would've gone bumpity bump bump.
I was upset with Sara again. I don’t like her when she talks about wanting all the inheritance. Too much like her mother. And now when she told Pedro what she promised not to. And even asked, while Brayan was still there, about the house the family lives in. I hope he doesn’t die. I like Adela and she shouldn’t have that grief.
I wonder if Dante will hurt Tadeo. Pedro should worry about Dante and Deb. He must suspect the two are plotting things together. But maybe not.
I noticed Paloma trip. It was so quick I wondered if it was in the script. It will be a miracle if that marriage lasts.
Juli wants both brothers. I hope Mateo can walk away. What he’s been doing to Juan is just not right. That may have been why he had the drinking problem.

The scene where Juan and Pedro see Aurora at the door was interesting . They both stare , but Pedro looks like a trained pointer fixed on his prey . Juan doesnt recognize her , but Pedro does. If looks could kill, Aurora would have dropped on the spot.
If either Dante or Demon Deb tries to hurt Tadeo, Pedro will go absoluteky BSC. Unlike Dante, Pedro has tortured but not killed someone, but I dont think he would hestitate killing for a moment if either if those oxygen wasters went after Tadeo.
In the scene with Aurora , it looked all too real and violent when Daniel ( Pedro) grabbed Aurora by the arm and then had her by TBE throat lying on the desk before Juan pulled him away. After that , Pedro paced back and firth like a lion in a cave.
I wonder if the reason Pedro can turn against Juan lies in the fact that Juan and Pedro are half brothers . Whatever, Pedro is doomed now. I had such hopes that he would Eventually be redeemed because of his sad childhood. No hope of that he has turned a corner into crazy and violent.
Pedro is beyond redemption, even if he doesn’t kill Bryan. He just might, someone from the cast should probably die before the end, Henry doesn’t matter.
If Deb goes after Tadeo, then she will be in the same boat as Pedro. Maybe the two of them and Dante can kill one another at the end, it would definitely be fun to watch.
I was busy watching the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. It was a beautiful, classy dignified sendoff with full military honors.

Weirdo, last night I saw a preview La Madrastra is coming to Univision "Muy Pronto".
They have already said Vencer is doing the same so perhaps they will put one in the 8:00 hour and one in the 9"00 hour once La Herencia ends.
I know you've been waiting for it!
Diana
Diana, thank you SO MUCH! Yes, I have been waiting for it! The story and the cast is very good, so is the acting. I've watched many episodes and I already love it! I plan to recap it here on Caray, I actually want it to be the first Gran Estreño I'll recap, so I can't wait!
If it's put right after La Herencia ends, we could do separate pages for it, if the others agree. I have already thought of the Estreño title ;)
Lol, that was quite an overreaction, but I was so happy when I read your comment I couldn't do anything but write this whole thing! XD
I just watched the scene of Catalina dying. If you have ever been at the bedside of a loved one as they died, it is a painful experience that you never forget.
Pedro couldn't bare to look at Catalina and with tears in his eyes , turned his back, but then he turned around and knelt at his mother's feet and spoke to her ( dont know what be said) and cried. Simon held his mother , but Juan hugged Sev.I think that Pedro learned to harden his heart when he was an abused little boy to avoid being hurt .
Does anyone remember how long ago Catalina died?
Pedro is grabbing Dante regularly now and throwing brim around . it looks very real , so I hope nobody got very . Dante looks like he is not going to take Pedro's physical assaults much longer. Pedro has no idea how evil Dante is.
Will Pedro kill Aurora?
Susanlynn
- Pedro had the chains on his suit in some episode over the past few days. Is that what you were commenting on? Of course, with double-episodes, time is flying.
- I thought Juan's walking gait was odd too, in that shot of just the legs and shoes.
