La Herencia, #61 Tuesday "Knock, knock, knocking on Hell's door"

Sal is asking about a special bottle of wine that is no longer at its place!

Corni arrives to tell Sal that his talk to Pedro didn’t go well. Jess comes to search for Bryan and makes a scene, accuses him of sleeping with one of the waitresses. Paloma tries to intervene, but Jess is sure Bryan is cheating on her. Even Corni calls her immature, Paloma thinks she is a true sister of Julieta, Bryan asks Paloma to divorce them. Brandon arrives with the news that Deb was poisoned. Paloma is sure it was Simon.

Prospi and Rosa are happy Juan loaned them some money. But Prospi thinks Juan was a little forced, they have to pay back as soon as possible. Rosa would rather talk about her surprise.

Sara arrives at the hospital with Pedro and Juan. Modesto is also there. The doctor confirms the poisoning, Sara is shocked someone wanted to kill her mother.

She goes to see Deb in her room, urges her to fight, she and her baby need her. Even if they’ve had conflicts, she still loves her, she and the baby are the most important things in her life. When Deb goes into cardiac arrest, Sara frantically calls for a doctor, who asks her to leave. Juan has to drag her away, while Sara is sobbing.

Juan is talking with the cop about the bottle of wine found in Deb’s room. Pedro asks him to investigate everything. Unfortunately Deb is in a coma, only she could tell who gave her that bottle of wine. When the cop leaves, Juan has a suspicious face, so Pedro says “it wasn’t me”. But Juan is not thinking of him, he suspects Simon had something to do with it.

Mateo and Julieta Baby are having lunch and talking about the DNA test. Why would Pedro have it? Juli Baby talks about good communication, thinks Mateo is obsessed with that baby being his, he has to let go and stop hurting himself. This only means that he still loves Julieta. But he can control himself. Mateo says he can’t stay on the sidelines, while Julieta is lying to his brother. He gets a call from Lucas, asking him to come at the office, because Juan needs them all together. He also finds out Deb was poisoned.

Still at the hospital, Pedro tries to cheer up Sara, who can’t understand why someone would want to do this to her mother. She suspects it was Simon, he almost ran her over earlier. Juan remembers when Deb told him about the accident, this is all news to Pedro. Juan asks her to allow him to talk to Simon first.

The doctor arrives to say that they managed to revive Deb, but she’s still in a coma. Sara can’t stop crying, Juan comforts her.

Brandon tells Sal that he found his dad online. But Corni wants to know about Deb. Paloma is trying to reach Simon, who doesn’t answer.

Julieta is waiting for Juan to get home. Finding Deb in that state was truly impressive for her. Alondra comes to cheer her up, Juli says she never imagined it would be like this, Deb must have been in a lot of pain. Alondra and Adela are puzzled by these words.

Lucas says what happened to Deb is already news. Simon doesn’t seem to be bothered, Lucas asks him about it and Simon answers that if it were up to him, she could rot in Hell. Then wants to get back to work. Lucas is worried about Sara. Simon realizes he has a lot of missed calls from Paloma.

Rosa calls Deb’s poisoning divine justice. Another Del Monte scandal, Prospi says. Bertha arrives from the market and Rosa takes her into the kitchen.

Split screen of all the possible culprits: Dante, Pedro, Julieta, Corni, Simon, Prospi and Rosa…

Dante arrives at the hospital, too, hugs Sara. He will go take the wine analysis results and he already investigated the delivery service who brought the bottle to the house. Pedro thinks whoever did this, planned it for a while. Dante says Deb has a long list of enemies, it will be hard to know who did it.

Rosa and Bertha talk about Deb being poisoned with wine. Bertha remembers the receipt she found. But Rosa cares more about Deb’s letters, Bertha tells her she didn’t find anything. Rosa thinks God is fair, Deb is paying her maldades.

Paloma is at the company, Simon realizes she came to talk about Deb. She asks if he did it, he says no, but he would have had good reasons to. Paloma points out that other people will accuse him, starting with Sara, especially after the accident. Paloma loves him and trusts him, but… Juan comes inside, wants to talk to his brother in private. But Simon wants Paloma to stay, he knows Juan came to ask about Deb. He would have loved to be the one to do it, but it wasn’t him. He’s upset because Juan is so worried about Sara, he surely doesn’t care about Deb. Juan reminds Simon the poisoning happened in Santa Catalina, this is very serious! Simon says he doesn’t care about Deb, that woman made their mother’s life a living hell, her death would be a blessing.

Rosa wants to stay at the ranch for a few days, take care of Juli, who is still shocked by what she saw. Who could it have been? Simon? Rosa admits that the guy is half crazy. Besides, he hates Deb, Julieta adds. She is scared. When she asks about Prospi, she finds out they went to ask Juan for a loan, she doesn’t like the fact that they bothered him with this.

She is happy they got rid of Deb, now they only have Sara to deal with.

They start talking about the shop, which is closed for now. Paloma turned out to be a good lawyer and her father is a good guy, too, he even offered his Bar as a venue for the vow renewal.

Bertha has come to see Modesto. They talk about the letters, where could Deb have put them? Bertha says that what happened to Deb made her think about the fact that life is short. And asks Modesto to marry her. He is lost for words, Adela interrupts asking if they want something to drink. Modesto takes advantage to save himself, but Bertha is happy.

It’s night time and Simon and Mateo are still working. Simon is upset Pedro is not here to help. Mateo knows he’s with Sara, but he also hates Deb. What about Simon, did he do it? He doesn’t have to hide in front of him, he would never tell anyone.

Sara, Lucas and Pedro arrive home, but Sara wants to go back to the hospital. Pedro asks her to rest, Lucas says that if she insists, he can go with her.

Juli and Rosa arrive to ask about Deb, but Sara tells them to stop being such hypocrites, they couldn’t care less about her mom. When Rosa calls Deb a drunk, Sara asks her to leave her house. Julieta says this is her house, Lucas defends Sara. Juan arrives, so Julieta whines to him that Sara wants to throw her mother out of the house. Juan asks Rosa to leave the ranch.

Dante is with Deb, speaking about how much he’s loved her in the past. But her ambition forced him to betray all his principles and become a despicable being. He warned her that he’d be his most dangerous enemy! He wishes more than anything that she never wakes up, she led a worthless life and managed to ruin her daughter’s life, too. The only person who can defend Sara is him, because Sara is a good person and … he is interrupted by the nurse asking if he will the person spending the night with the patient.

Lucas is upset Rosa and Julieta always attack Sara. Pedro is more upset with the fact that Lucas always wants to rescue Sara, just like he did at Juan’s wedding. Lucas says she is his sister, but Pedro warns him that he has to stay away, he doesn’t want to see him near Sara ever again. He pushes a shocked Lucas to his bed.

Juan arrives to talk to Augustin about Simon and Sev’s accident. What did he really see that day? Augie remembers Simon’s plea to stop talking about this and says that he saw the truck after the accident and also saw Simon coming out and running. But that day he felt bad, he’s not sure of what he saw anymore. He already talked to Simon, who told him what really happened. Juan asks if Simon managed to convince him that his version of the facts is the real one, he wants to know his exact words. Augie says that maybe he got confused, that day he didn’t feel good at all. But he’s sure Simon is a good man.

Sara is on her bed when Adela comes with something to drink and to offer her support. Sara knows her mother has made a lot of people despise her, but she feels guilty. If she dies before knowing the most important thing… She’s pregnant, she tells Adela and Julieta overhears.

She goes back to her room and screams that stupida Sara can’t have Juan’s baby. Mateo comes to talk to her, Juli wants him to leave, pushes him away, gets mad screaming for help.

Lucas and Pedro hear the screaming, so do Adela and Sara. Adela and the men run to Julieta. Mateo says he didn’t do anything and Pedro pushes him out. Julieta tells Lucas Mateo wanted to kiss her, she’s sick of him, she didn’t tell Juan about it to avoid problems, but she’s scared of him. She’s afraid he will get into her bed. Lucas says it wouldn’t be the first time, he knows they slept together the day before the engagement. Julieta insists Mateo is lying, he’s still a drunk. Lucas resents this, Mateo is sober now and is getting help from Julieta Baby. Julieta points out that Mateo still loves her, that’s why he found a woman with her name.

Pedro tells Mateo that if he keeps bothering Julieta Juan will realize he never forgot her. Mateo insists he wasn’t doing anything bad against her. Pedro asks him to stay away from her, they already have enough problems at the company. Mateo asks about the DNA test, Pedro says he needed the lab info because he wants to have another analysis done on Tadeo. Mateo says he’s not stupid, Pedro insists the court needs a DNA confirmation for his custody demands. And Mateo should leave the town forever, stop begging for Julieta’s love. Nobody will miss him, all he’s doing is causing headaches to the family, nobody wants to carry his burden.

Rosa tells Prospi that she was asked to leave the ranch. Alondra is upset Lucas is spending so much time with Sara. They both badmouth her, Prospi asks Rosa to stop putting ideas in Alondra’s head. Bertha comes with the coffee, says a few words in French, Alondra understands, but Rosa once again proves her lack of culture.

Bryan arrives and tells Jess he’s returning home, is she coming with him or not?

Juan is back at the ranch and sees Adela with a tray, she says she’s taking it to Julieta, who went through a bad moment earlier. Juan asks if she fought with Sara, but Adela begs him not to make her say anything more on the subject. Juan wants to know who found Deb, Adela tells him it was Juli. And no, Simon was not at the house.

Augustin finds Brandon’s bag on a chair and gets upset the boy is not keeping his stuff in his room. He kicks the bag on the floor and the package Brandon has been carrying falls out.

Mateo is feeling bad, remembers the day they had Sev’s funeral, his mother’s death and Pedro’s words. He misses his parents.

Pedro is in his room, feeling mad, realizes Mateo kept the DNA test. He remembers the pregnancy test he found in Sara’s room and says that baby will never be born.

Thanks, Adriana, this was fantastic and a great help. I was on the phone sort of watching last night and, of course, Univision has not posted the episode OnDemand as of this a.m. They were so good at posting the episodes ina timely manner for quite a while but I guess those times are over and they are up to their old ways. Maybe more later.

Adriana - thank you for another great recap!

Things are really ramping up with many people being shown as the possible poisoner. Well, at least Viewerville is entertained by this crazy telenovela and we're having fun with our theories. Never a dull moment on this show.

The best moment was Berta proposing marriage to Modesto. I was laughing out loud. Poor Modesto. Berta was so cute when she asked him.

Lucas seems to be growing a spine, standing up to Simon and Pedro. I couldn't believe how Pedro tossed Lucas onto that bed like a rag doll. Pedro is out of control.

How on earth does Rosa keep that scarf on her head as she is wearing it at half-mast. There is no visible hairpin, so is it glued to her hair? (inquiring minds want to know). What is up with that scarf? It looks good on her, but does she think it makes her look sophisticated? Why am I fixated on a scarf when there is a murder(s) running loose? Where is my telenovela beanie hat?

Caramba... How will Pedro stop Sara's baby from being born? Must See TV!

I never saw the Brady Bunch split screen of possible asesinos. Bummer.

The camera showed us Julieta Baby's salad a couple of times, and I started to wonder if it was poisoned.

Thank you Adriana for this fun informative recap!

The line, which I can’t copy/paste, at the beginning with ‘Sara is shocked someone would want to kill her mother!’ Cracked me up!!! That is shocking indeed! Haha

So many suspects so little time, and Juli’s statement’I didn’t know it would be like this. I bet it was painful!’ Hmmm…..then we have Dante’s all but confession, but is it a confession? Who took that special bottle from Sal??? The DelMonte’s all suspect Simon but I don’t think he would have bought Deb an expensive bottle of wine!!! Was it Juli, Dante, Pedro, Prospi, Rosa???? Pedro says he wouldn’t kill the mother of the woman he loves but I don’t think he loves Sara…..

He will apparently try to kill the child of the woman he claims to love…..chilling

Jarifa, I don’t know if you are watching from the Univision app but I have noticed that when they don’t post on demand you can still scroll through the past ‘live’ broadcasts and find it. You can FF commercials if you are watching it ‘live’’ but not live.

Another fantastic recap, Adriana. Thanks a lot.

Pobrecito Lucas. Why does everyone think he likes Sara? He defended her because she's his (step-)sister, duh!

After seeing Simón's reaction, I remove him from my suspects list. If he had done it, he wouldn't say that he wishes he was the one who did it and that Deb's death would be a blessing. Speaking of Simón, there's no trust between him and Paloma. Their marriage won't function since trust is gone. Paloma should have really listened when we were screaming that she ought to RUN!

I don't think it was Rosa nor Próspero. I think the writers want to show us a good Próspero that actually felt bad for cheating (which is rare) and since they didn't make him and Rosa break up, they want to keep them together so the wouldn't have made Rosa do it. Also, as someone (Darcy?) wrote in the last recap, Rosa hasn't really showed homicidal urges and I can't really picture her as a killer.

Dante's talk to Deb sounds like a red herring. Also, he was definitely going to say Sara is his daughter.

I think it was Pedro.

Oh no. Oh no no. Oh no no no. NO! Juli knows about Sara's pregnancy? Get ready to see the true Juli that Próspero was talking about.

"says that baby will never be born" Does anyone else bet that it WILL be born?

I found a comment by Victoria on the Univisión page thanking the recappers of La Herencia and thought I should paste it here:

"I'd like to take the opportunity here to thank all the recappers of 'La Herencia' who dedicated so much time to posting such detailed recaps. I loved the snark! And it was good to see Steve back. Too bad he probably couldn't make a 'hit list', which I enjoy so much. I don't think Pedro will kill that many people, but some, yes."

This comment has been removed by the author.

Darcy, thanks for the info but I do not watch on the app. : (

Is it my imagination, or has Julieta's Chanel-type jacket been her daily uniform ever sine she moved into the Del Monte hacienda? She probably sleeps in that thing, at this point.

Thanks Adriana, for the detailed recap. I definitely find out more from your recaps than I figure out while watching.

Bertha proposing to Modesto was the highlight of the night. I want him to say yes and for Bertha to let down her hair!

Sara didn’t understand why anyone would want to kill her mother! I don’t think she’s been watching this show!

When Juli found out about Sara’s pregnancy she went crazy. I thought she would break that cradle(or crib). I remember it was very expensive. She and Pedro both don’t want Sara to have that baby, Sara is in for some rough times.

I was so glad when Juan threw Rosa out of the house. Well, he told her to leave. He’s better when he shows he has a backbone.

Pedro was horrible to both Lucas and Mateo. Lucas can take it but I worry about Mateo. Pedro and Juli are both close to losing it. And I’m leaning toward Juli as the poisoner. Mainly from what she said about not knowing it would be like that. Simón does seem innocent but what was he reading up on on his laptop the other night?

If those are drugs in the backpack, the gang that invaded the hacienda will be back. Or their gang members anyway. But it looked green, it’s always shown as white. Might be Marajuana. (Did I mention I’m a terrible speller?)

Liz

Gracias, Adriana.

I really hope that the writers don't make it too torturous for us in the resolution of Who Tried to Kill the Wicked Witch of Mexico. Also, since they started saying "Ultimos Capitulos" I am getting nervous about their scissors. I don't recall this announcement before the last dozen episodes and we have 20 left to go.

Dante's speech to the comatose bruja was a surprise. He must be almost as emotionally blind as a bat is visually blind to not have seen that Deborah is incapable of loving anyone. Has he finally had the light bulb moment that she was only using him?

Julieta is an idiot thinking she can trash Mateo to his brothers and still expect to get Juan to love her. Not to mention thinking that Sara is stupid. She is the same classist snob as her mother who actually has no class at all.

More later.

Adriana, you captured this pivotal episode marvelously. I can’t thank you and Jarifa enough for all of your exceptional work. You captured so much that I missed!

“Pedro…remembers the pregnancy test he found in Sara’s room and says that baby will never be born”. Sadistic and proof positive Pedro is going to “Knock, knock, knocking on hell’s door”. Perfect.

I didn’t realize there was a missing bottle of expensive wine from Sal’s. So where was the poisoned bottle’s place of origin? We now have the list of usual suspects. Weirdo, “Dante's talk to Deb sounds like a red herring”. I agree. I think if Dante were going to kill Deb he would have done so in a pool of blood. “The DelMonte’s all suspect Simon but I don’t think he would have bought Deb an expensive bottle of wine!!!” had me laughing Darcy! Juan, Lucas, Paloma and others view him as the prime suspect but he’s too obvious. “Juli says she never imagined it would be like this, Deb must have been in a lot of pain.” Suspicious certainly. But again…And of course there is our always reprehensible Pedro. I don’t see him penning the note, he lacks finesse. I will end with Prospi. After Berta and Rosa left the room at their home, Prospi stared straight ahead and there was anger flaming in his eyes.

Liz, my favorite scene was also sweet Berta’s proposal and Modesto’s stuttering non answer. Berta wasn’t the least bit dissuaded!

“Lucas seems to be growing a spine, standing up to Simon and Pedro” is exactly right doris! It also seems Mateo is challenging Pedro and I fear he will dearly pay for taking the pregnancy results.

Did Amado and Paloma’s mother ride into the sunset?

And Sara still can’t understand who would ever want to hurt Deb??

Marvelous Adriana. Thank you!

Diana

Darcy, I just signed in with Uni on my computer and it works for the last three days of broadcasts. Next is to install the app on my other devices. Thank you!

Diana, that would be a twist if the culprit were Prospi.

"Sara didn’t understand why anyone would want to kill her mother! I don’t think she’s been watching this show!"
Liz, that was too funny!!!

Darcy, "The DelMonte’s all suspect Simon but I don’t think he would have bought Deb an expensive bottle of wine!!!" was fabulous and ROFL funny!

Doris, "Why am I fixated on a scarf when there is a murder(s) running loose?" LOL, these little details do drive us crazy.

Urban, I agree that they shouldn't wait too much to reveal who the poisoner is. I'm scared for Univisión's scissors too. We had this happen (on Telemundo) in Pasión de Gavilanes 2, Darcy, Adriana and I know this too well, lol. It was awful and we were confused most of the time. If the writers wrote a scene, they wrote it for a reason, it's important. Cutting it makes no sense other than scheduling purposes.

Diana, "Did Amado and Paloma’s mother ride into the sunset?" LOL! I had forgotten about Amado! Irma is missing too. Oh well. The may be missing, but they won't be missed.

Stellar recap, Adriana. And a zinger of a title.

It looked to me like Dante was going to finish off Deb right there in the hospital room. His fingers were squeezing her IV tube, but he stopped when the nurse came in.

Yay!, it’s not Simon. Say what you will about him – and everyone surely has – but he is no hypocrite when it comes to Deb. "Rot in hell b****!" - lol

If Dante did send the bottle, maybe Juli, unbeknownst to him, tampered with the wine too? Maybe several hands encountered the wine before it reached Deb?

ITA Lucas stood up this episode. Loved him shooting down Juli when she boohoohooed about Mateo wanting to get in her bed.

Pedro is a goner. Turning on Mateo and Lucas, just ugly.

Diana and Weirdo, Amado left town to return to his family and Paloma’s mom Irma did the same with the understanding that she and Paloma will visit. I'm wondering if Paloma will see Irma when she's had enough of Simon's machista ways.

Niecie,

"Yay!, it’s not Simon. Say what you will about him – and everyone surely has – but he is no hypocrite when it comes to Deb. "Rot in hell b****!" - lol" Niecie, excellent point. There are many things you can call Pedro but failure to tell the truth about Deb isn't one of them.

I did think Amado might have left (no fanfare was there?) but I don't recall Irma leaving officially. Thank you!

Diana

Cher Adriana, merci for yet another fantastic retelling of the swirling drama.

Doris, I , too, kept looking at Rosa's scarf. I wear scarves in cold weather . it was pretty but was their a reason wardrobe decided to add this fashion item to her usual bold colored separates ? I also wondered why we got close ups of salads ?????

Pedro knowing Lucas's recent trauma and viciously roughing him up is another sign of his descent into violence and mental illness.

Modesto and Bertha makes sweet couple .

Notice that it is always female characters eating salads while the men are typically eating meat. This has been making me loca for some time.

On an etiquette forum I'm active on someone in Australia posted about a wedding she had attended where the men were all served beef and the women were all served chicken. No explanation for this. We al thought it was sexist and presumptuous.

Urban, interesting comment about the food.

Urban, last night both Juli2 and Metro were eating a salad. I thought it was odd that they showed closeups of both salads. They were identical. Why show salads ?

I guess the writers accomplished what they wanted since we are all trying to figure out who finally had enough of Deb.

Hey, maybe Corny stole the bottle of expensive vino to give to Deb.

I thought that there might be drugs in the backpack. Looked like marijuana.

OT...Has anyone heard from Kirby?

Thanks for your comments, guys, you are all so funny and all these speculations are making this novela very enjoyable. At this point it really doesn’t matter what happens with Juan and Sara, because everything happening around them is what keeps us tuning in.
