La herencia #72 Wednesday 10/12/21 Notes from the Couch . . . and a PSA for the Patio Peeps

This is no way complete so feel free, even more than free, to add anything I omitted.

I confess that I had to spend way longer on the couch than I planned on  because there were way too may details that needed to be included as we head to the gran final and see justice done  on Monday 10/24.

Pedro plays the victim .

Adela finds out that Pedro kicked them out because  Brayan and Cornelio  attacked him. Pedro warns Brayan if he files a complaint,  it will be their word against his. Nobody plays with him.  (Ooo, he punctuates that  with a nice crunchy bite on an apple. ) Juan finally moves his butt along with Simón and Sara to Adela's and sees the damage that Pedro has done. Cornelio tells Juan that Pedro is not the person Juan thinks he is. Pedro pops up in the doorway asking Cornelio what kind of person is he then??? Pedro tells everyone that Cornelio and Bryan attacked him and tried to kill him.  Brayan surges to the front of the group and accuses Pedro of trying to kill him.  Juan is shocked!!!  Juan calls for Mateo and Lucas to come to the hacienda because Pedro kicked the Cruz daily out of their house.  Pedro warns Brayan  not go around defaming him or to be influenced by stupid Cornelio's plan for revenge. Brayan makes it clear that he doesn't lie and that Pedro played some dirty tricks on him and then tortured him. Juan grabs Pedro by the neck and  demands that Pedro tells him then and now what Brayan is talking about. Sara is stupid and helps pull Juan off of Pedro when he starts  telling Juan to let him go. Juan tells him he had no right to do what he did with the house. It technically is on land that belongs to him. Pedro says they did not have the right to do a sneak attack on him. If Brayan is so sure that he tried to kill him, let him prove it. Pedro then turns his venom on Juan. He is  surprised that he is not on his side but on "their" side. He understands that they are  the "defenseless" and the "innocent" while he is the "devil himself."

Sara asks  why would Brayan make up something like that??  Pedro blames Cornelio for talking him into it. Pedro notices that Brayan said that he tortured him in the warehouse (AKA torture central)  and says he hasn't been there is years. Modesto asks him if he is sure. Pedro asks Modesto if he has been there lately. (Hmmm did Pedro see him some how??) Juan decides they will go to the warehouse.  Pedro  swears on his mother Catalina that  he didn't do anything to Brayan. He turns the conversation back to him being attacked in his own home and pointing to his face so they can see the damage Cornelio and Brayan did to him.

The group arrives at torture central  but there is nothing there to implicate Pedro. Juan grabs Pedro so they can talk but Pedro refuses to go with him. Juan says he will be apologizing to the Cruz family on way or another for what he did to them. Pedro asks who is going to apologize to him?? Sara backs up Juan telling Pedro that he didn't have to treat them like he did. They are  human beings. Pedro accuses her of using him only to make Juan jealous. It never mattered to her what HE felt. Pedro moans that Cornelio hates him and then  there is his guy (Brayan) who has no idea what he is talking about. Juan tells him not to play the victim with him. Pedro reminds him of how their mother tortured them when they were kids.  He asks Juan if he thinks he would be capable of doing that to someone else??? When he says nothing. Pedro calls his silence an answer. Pedro excuses himself and leaves. Brayan admits there is no way to prove what  Pedro did to him.

Juan remembers taking care of his brother Pedro and him asking if Juan would ever leave him all alone by himself. Juan told him that he would never do that. Pedro was so afraid of what his mother told him and of dying. Juan told him he would always take care of him,  always.

Later at the hacienda, Mateo bursts into Pedro's bedroom asking him how he could treat the Cruz family the way he did. His father cared for them a lot. Pedro is not happy with his mode of arrival nor with the tone of voice he is using with him. Pedro is sick of hearing about his father. He is dead. Mateo cannot believe that he and Juan share the same blood. Pedro laughs happy that he does not have the same kind of connection with Mateo. He angrily grabs him by the shirt collar and Sara breaks them up. Sara says he is acting like coward. She says only a coward attacks the young  and the old. Pedro tells her she can go to hell. Sara is happy that she is getting to see who the real Pedro is. She believes Brayan. Pedro laughs saying that they are going to blame him now for all of the terrible things that happen at the hacienda. Mateo says yes, he will be because he thinks that he and Juli were accomplices in altering the DNA paternity test results.  Pedro insists he had nothing to do with her plan to trap Juan.  Mateo says when they were in the office,  he saw that she called him. Pedro did not answer and got nervous. He suspected there was something very strange going on between the two of them. Sara supports Mateo and Pedro tells her how disappointed he is in her. It is good that nothing ever happened between the two  of them because she always thought she was "worthy" of being with Juan. He tells her to just wait until everyone's mask comes off. Then they will see. Mateo insists he is going to find out if Pedro was involved in the falsification of the test results. He also has news for them. Yes, he had something to do with throwing the Cruz family out.  Cornelio and Brayan tried to kill him. What would have they done? Mateo says he might be able to manipulate  Sara but not him. Mateo and Sara leave.

The Cruz Family Chooses to Leave the Hacienda

Juan tells the Cruz family they can stay. Adela says it is time for them move on. She doesn't want to live in a place where they feel like unwelcome dogs. Juan say he will make sure this never happens again.  Agustín gives  Juan some advice. Pedro is like an unfocused horse without direction that runs over anyone who gets in his way. Juan needs to get out of the way to have a life of his own. He tells Juan that the true legacy of his father is here. He puts his hand on Juan's heart. He adds that nobody will ever snatch it away. When death arrives, they will take the best that this land has to offer which is they themselves, with them. There is not a dry eye in the crowd.

Sal offers his home to Adela and her family. They all have a long sad goodbye anyway.  Sal tells Cornelio that the time has come to put the past behind them  and concentrate on having a good life. Sal assures them that they are all going to be fine and together. Being together will give them strength. Sal is happy that God is giving him the family he always wanted. It si time to be happy.

Where's Dante ?

Juan tries to catch a breath but he gets a visitor and it is woman we have never seen nor did we think might have existed. It is Mrs. Alamillo, Dante's wife, who is distraught because she has not heard from him. Juan is extremely worried, also. She explains that she jus received a legal complaint against him. Juan asks who the complainant was.  Before she can answer Deb, dressed all in black appears to inform them all that she filed the complaint against Dante. He wanted to kill her. Mrs. Alamillo disagrees. Deb says she doesn't lie. Mrs. Alamillo admits that she knows that Deb and Dante are lovers and she is filing that complaint because Dante left her.  Deb denies they were ever lovers. Mrs. Alamillo knows who her husband  was and he never would have disappeared like his. She has a bad feeling that he is dead. Juan says he doesn't think that he is dead. Dante said he was gong on vacation. Mrs. Alamillo says he never travelled without her and the family unless it was a business trip or with his lover. Juan will contact the authorities to look for him. Deb suggests that they also call the morgues if Mrs. Alamillo thinks that he might be dead.  Juan explains since Dante has so many resources he might be hard to find if he doesn't want to be found. Deb suggests he might be with his NEW lover. Deb is sure the police will find him so he can pay for what he did to her. Deb assures Mrs. Alamillo she is only a victim and not responsible for Dante's disappearance. Deb continues being annoying. She refuses to leave the hacienda and sings the Mexican Revolution ditty:  "La Adelita" "La Adelita si fuera con otro. La buscaría por tierra y por mar . . ." "If Adelita  went with another, I would look for her over land and sea . . ."  as she makes her way to the kitchen. Juan tells Mrs. Alamillo  they can only hope that Dante is well.

Juan meets with his siblings (except Pedro)  because Dante is missing. Sara is very worried because she has knows him ever since she was  little girl and he has never just disappeared like this. Juan  cannot believe that he was ever Sara's mother's lover. Simón's ears perk up and he starts getting stupid again so I will refer to him again as BBS.  When BBS hears that Deb is in the house, he wants to go and tell her off for running around with a married man. Sara is able to stop him saying that neither of them have a right to judge her. BBS accuses her of knowing about this and not telling them. She admits she just found out herself from PEDRO!!! BBS is shocked!  Sara wonders how Pedro found out.  BBS still doesn't believe it. (TRIVIA: Emmanuel Palomares/BBS played  twins in "Vencer el desamor" and I could not stand the gangbanger he played as the evil twin , but I even hate Simón worse in this one. Also,  Mildred Feuchter (Paloma) played Ivette in that "Vencer", too.)

Sara could not care less if BBS believes her or not. The issue is that Dante could be kidnapped!  Juan says things are getting worse. Mateo turns on him and blames him for not putting Pedro in his place. Juan explains that he has done more things than he can imagine. Pedro is his brother as Mateo is and it hurts him that he has committed so many crimes. BBS perks up again when he hears "crimes" and he demands to know what crimes. Mateo says Pedro threw the Cruz family out of their house and Juan  did nothing about it. Mateo also is sure that Pedro colluded with Juli to change the DNA paternity tests results. Sara reminds Mateo he has to have proof. Juan cannot believe what Mateo is saying. That is too much to believe even about Pedro! Mateo tells him he is blind because Pedro is his only brother related by blood. Juan is upset  saying that you cannot accuse somebody without evidence. He tries to explain that Brayan couldn't prove that Pedro wanted to kill him while Pedro was  attacked by Brayan and Cornelio. Mateo says  Pedro acted in the most cowardly way possible throwing  a needy family out of their house. Their father never would have allowed that to happen. Juan insists it was out of his hands. He adds that Pedro has been out of his mind ever since their real mother showed up.

Mateo and Simón will not let up on Juan and  Pedro, of course, (JUST HAPPENS) to come down the stairs and hears the heated discussion through the closed office door. Mateo tells Juan not to try to justify what Pedro did. Sara joins in. They all want to hear about the crimes that Pedro committed. Did his crimes affect them?? Juan  informs them that Pedro is the one who has been stealing from the company. He tells them to be careful because it looks like Pedro and Dante were accomplices in several matters. He is certain that they created the Campo Verde company together. He is also afraid that Pedro has somehow kidnapped Dante.  Pedro listens in as  Paloma watches him from the opposite side of the living room. She sees that Pedro notices her and  high tails it up the stairs to her room.

Sara finds it hard to believe that Pedro would kidnap Dante.   Juan insists that everything points to Pedro. Simón wants to know more about the thievery. Juan says that he has all of the financial records that prove it. That is how he could make sure that nobody realized that Pedro was the one stealing. His father himself told him about Pedro. Simón is upset that Juan said nothing and was covering for him. Juan says that he promised his father. Juan explains that then he noticed that  Dante started acting very strangely, making mistakes  and was very nervous. He said his son was in the hospital and that wasn't true. Mateo says they need to find Dante to find out the truth. Juan explains that Dante's wife was there and the police are out looking for him. Deb already has filed a complaint against Dante for attempted murder and there is a warrant out for his arrest. That surprises Sara. Juan says maybe Deb has a better idea of where to find him.

What to do about Pedro? Juan says they can go to the police about him and see that charges are filed or they can (stupidly) wait (around)  until he reconsiders and tells the truth. Mateo says they will be waiting their whole lives for him to tell the truth.  Simple Simón (AKA BBS) wants to believe in Pedro. Everyone deserves a chance.  Their father must have handled the situation like this for a reason. (Stupid) Sara fills Lucas in on what Pedro did when he come sin. Sara thinks they should let Pedro have another chance, too.  Juan says it will be Pedro's LAST chance and if he messes up, they will have to take other actions. (Uh, oh!)

Deb meets her matches.

Deb is in the kitchen on her phone. She still hasn't heard from Dante and hopes he is in hell. Paloma comes in asking Deb what she is doing there.  She is not welcome.  Paloma explains she is Simón's wife, Mrs. Del Monte. Deb says she thinks she is the owner of the hacienda now. Paloma makes it clear that is how she and Deb are different.  Paloma doesn't consider herself the owner of anything that she didn't earn with her own efforts. Deb gets up looking like she is ready to strike and  tells her that she really is  "Mrs. Tres Pesos."  Deb is only there to see her Sara who will be taking her rightful place in this household.  She will be the real lady of the house because she is going to have a baby. Deb asks why Paloma isn't pregnant. It must be because Simón isn't able to get her pregnant or maybe it is she who is infertile.  Paloma asks Deb to leave. Deb suggests she should be the one running out of there to get a DNA test.  Paloma says she has done that already and it turns out she is a Pérez, Sal's daughter. Deb smirks at her certainty.  Deb tells her she has gotten very brave since she married Simón.  Paloma says sometimes life makes you brave but she has to give credit to Sara who does not only give very good advice but is a great friend. She is a woman of integrity, sincere and honest. She adds that it is a pity that Sara cannot say that about her own mother. Deb suggests they both start a feminist march.  Paloma  answers  that women should not have to march to be understanding and nice to each other. Deb sees that bravery as reminiscent of  Severiano but she does believe Paloma  when she says she is not his child because of the way she conducts herself.  Paloma has had enough of Deb and grabs her arm.  She starts to pull her from the kitchen. Deb tells her to let her go and Paloma does but Deb has gotten the message.

Deb leaves the house and  is still trying to call Dante with no luck. She leaves him a message calling him a damn despicable dog. She wants her inheritance money like yesterday!! She also wants to know the names of the charities he created.  Lucas runs into her. She calls him the "little horsey boy" one more time and he tells her never to call him that again. She calls him ungrateful and reminds him that she was the one to put him in contact with his birth mother and his brother Amado. She tells him that Dante controlled all of them and wanted to kill her so she wouldn't talk about what he did. He asks what did Dante do. She needs to talk to Sara to tell her that Paloma ran her out of the house as if she had the plague.  Lucas won't let her change the topic and asks her what she did that would cause  Dante to want to kill her. She tells him to do what Pedro always says: Let Saint Juan investigate what his little lawyer has been up to. She has accused him of trying to kill her with the police. Lucas wants to know more. She says that Dante is a bad ambitious man with no scruples who fooled them all. Lucas wonders about them being fooled. Deb tells him that what goes around, comes around and they will find out what kind of man their dear Dante is. She insists on waiting outside for Sara. Lucas tells Deb she has to tell what she knows. She tells him he is too young to understand these things. Better to look her up we he grows up and is more mature.

Pedro pops up.  Lucas demands to know how he could throw the Cruz family out. Pedro says if it bothers him so much he can give them whatever little is left of his inheritance or get them on the internet to be influencers like him. Ha ha!

Deb is left alone with Pedro. He asks what she is doing there and if she is not afraid of Juan and the brothers kicking her off the property. She insists that she is untouchable because she is the future grandmother of Juan's child. Nobody can do anything  to her. (Whoopsie! Not a smart comment from one psychopath to another. You can see the wheels whirring in Pedro's head) Pedro clearly feels the need to challenge her on that belief and wants her to accompany to the warehouse.(AKA torture central)  She is smart enough to say she is not going but Pedro grabs her arm and forces her to go with him.  At the warehouse,  Deb leaves Dante another message telling him where she is with Pedro. Pedro wanted her to see where they said he "supposedly" tortured Brayan. Deb tells Pedro that  it doesn't look like a place for an execution. Pedro assumes she wants to be the model grandmother. He asks if she doesn't remember what they decided would happen to this baby. She tells him he decided that but she never agreed. Sara is all she has in this world. He grabs her by the throat and pushes her against the wall. He will not have her laughing in his face. When he says jump, she needs to ask how high???  She tells him again that Sara is her daughter.

FIN that was the scene that ended the episode.

Everything else:

Berta calls Alondra and tells her to find her sister Jessica and to come home.  Their mother urgently needs them.  Mateo explains to them what is going on. Juli was at the company and tried to hurt her baby with a pair of scissors. Later at the house, Rosa fills Jessica and Alondra in on Juli being admitted to the hospital. They need to stick together a s family. Jessica tells Rosa about Pedro running the Cruz family out of their house and how now they will be living a the cantina. Jessica still doesn't understand what happened exactly between Brayan and Pedro but they came to blows. Rosa invites her and Brayan back to live with her. Jessica needs to know what happened with Brayan first. Alondra finds out that Prospi doesn't want any one else having anything to do with the Del Montes. Alondra disagrees saying that Lucas is not like his brothers. Berta supports her. She tells the family that their reaction is understandable because  they are all going through  mourning for all they have lost.  What is more they have no idea of the wonderful family  they could be because they don't see or listen to each other. They have overcome so many things. There is no reason why Alondra should be prohibited from dating Lucas. They deserve to be happy, don't they? Berta says she is going to be leaving soon and wants to leave with her goal for them completed. She wants to see them as a united happy family. They can do it for Juli who is going to need them  all to be together and strong.

Simón Tells Paloma he never thought that Juli was as mentally ill as she is. He hopes she is hospitalized long enough to make a difference. ( So do we. I would be happy with her never being released)  Simón has to admit that Sara was innocent of tampering with the fertilizer. Paloma encourages him to get to know her. Simón is not quite ready for that yet. He also realizes that he and Paloma need to fix  their own relationship. He explains that he had a mother that gave 100% to make her children happy while his lying father cheated on her. Simón grew up loaded with resentment against him and blamed him for making his mother sick and then her death.  Paloma tells him he has to let the hatred go so he doesn't do more damage to himself. She and he are a contemporary couple who communicate. If he respects her ideas about being a woman, she will respect his ideas about being a man. She wants him to be the father of her children but only when they are both ready. They kiss and Simón pledges to never be like his father.  That is why he and his father couldn't live together. (UH OH!)

Pedro is in his mind thinking about how Dante told him that he put  the noose around his own neck all by himself. He remembers cleaning up torture central by washing the blood and all of the evidence away. He hears Dante laughing and asking him if he now saw that he wasn't as smart as Juan. Dante continues laughing. Pedro looks in the mirror, and tells Dante that he was wrong. He is a lot smarter than Juan.

FIN (of the recap)

FASHION TIP PSA: If you want to cover your head and emulate Deb's trendy style this fall, hats like hers are on sale all over, minus the critter fur, of course. I have seen similar hats from Tarzhay to Nordie Rack at a variety of of prices! Evidently, "THE hat"  is the accessory of the season.  Also, her leather (pleather/artificial leather/vegan leather) shirt and skirt are also all the rage.  They were talking about the popularity of artificial  leather on the Q this a.m. Little did we know that Deb was not only entertaining us but keeping us up to date on what is hot and what is not.

You know, when I saw Pedro trashing Adela's house, I was guessing he would set fire to it and I could get another box on the bingo card but no such luck. No bingo for me! WAH!

Comments:
They probably should have called this episode “Where’s Pedro” with the way he kept popping up at the most opportune times for him.

The rest of my comments are in the recap.

Jarifa, thank you for your recap. And up so quicky!

Oh, these people. Ugh. They aren't worth my energy to comment on them. So I won't.

However, there were two horrendous crimes of fashion committed: Paloma's yellow puffy sleeve blouse and that tacky bra/halter top Sara wore that is at least one cup size too small. That thing fit her so badly that it was absolutely distracting. What was the wardrobe dept. thinking?!?

That's all I have to say about this episode. Just, please, hurry up and bring on el Gran Por Fin.

Good stuff.

Deborah really dug herself in this time. No way in hell should she even be at the hacienda even after Sara and Juan marry. Her insults directed at Paloma were beyond disgusting.

BTW, I saw her hat in about five different colors in Target last week and recommend we also check TJMaxx.

More tomorrow. I am wiped.

Jarifa, you skillfully translated all of tonight’s dizzying details into a coherent story. Your observations, assertions and wit made everything clear, sometimes, painfully so. You write from the heart but tinge your words with the mind’s wise perspective.

Yes, I say smiling where indeed is Pedro? Flitting from scene to scene faster than Tinkerbell, he heard and saw entirely too much. Pedro’s anger continues to grow unabated, and his defense is to strike at the Achilles heel of the one who is most vulnerable – Juan who swore always to protect and serve.

I liked Sara’s gesture of wiping her tears off her cheeks with two fingers and throwing them at Pedro.

“When death arrives, they will take the best that this land has to offer which is they themselves, with them.” Augustin’s words were truly moving.

Exactly how many rooms does Sal have above the bar??

How ludicrous that it was BBS and Sara willing to give Pedro another chance.

Deb continues to bait Pedro “Nobody can do anything to her. (Whoopsie! Not a smart comment from one psychopath to another. You can see the wheels whirring in Pedro's head)”. Exactly.

Doris, I agree with your crimes of fashion especially Sara’s top which was not only hideous but didn’t begin to fit her! Time for a few button-down shirts (sans the “puffy sleeves” please) so we can concentrate on what she’s saying rather than what she’s wearing! Jarifa, I’m always impressed with women who wear hats, they are so stylish which I sadly, just am not. 😊

Each day brings a new problem. That said, can’t wait til tomorrow. Thank you Jarifa!

Diana

Thank you, Jarifa, it's hard to make sense of all the moving pieces right now, when things are slowly starting to come out.

First thing: what gives the Del Montes the right to think that they should be the ones to decide Pedro's fate? At this point they are all enablers, it's up to the police to investigate and punish Pedro if they deem it necessary. This is not just a fight between brothers, they are getting more information every day about Pedro's outbursts, and he has proven to be very unstable, how do they think he desesrves a chance he never even asked for?
And if they need proof that he's truly a madman, maybe it will take Sara or Paloma to be tortured for them to realize there is nothing they can do about Pedro.

I do wonder when does he plan to reveal the big paternity secret, though... Pedro will surely tell everyone that Sara is Dante's child, but when? What is his endgame right now, aside from popping up all over the place, screaming, throwing punches and whining about Juan not trusting him.

Adela should sleep in Sal's room (they are both over 50, waiting untim marriage is really not necessarry!), Augustin and Brandon should take Paloma's room, Bryan should go live with Jess at the Milan house and Dulce... where does she live anyway? I believe Modesto and Cornelio should be sleeping where they've been sleeping so far, right? The upstairs of the bar is just as grand as the ranch, probably. But the Millan family only had three bedrooms, since Alondra and Jess used to share a room.

Deb is really looking for trouble, isn't she? Will we get a big showdown between she and Pedro, the last two bad guys standing?

As horrible as it seems it's difficult to fault Juan over insisting they have physical evidence of Pedro's attacks. Pedro has been cleaning up after himself and he certainly has adequate money to bribe anyone he would need to. If the police arrest him on suspicion they would have a limited amount of time to prove that Pedro did these things before they would have to release him and the only thing any of his brothers or Sara could do in the interim is leave the country to escape his revenge. That might not even be adequate because Pedro would only take it out on other people they care about.

They don't even know that he killed Aurora. Someone should have a lightbulb moment about this before the end of this week.

Unless Prospero really becomes head of his own house I doubt that Brayan should be there. He should take Jessica, Brandon, and Dulce out of town. Juan should pay that bill.

Jarifa: AWESOME job with the recap of last night's episode!

Still doubling-down on Psycho Pedro & Crazy Simon killing Scumbag Seve.

UA: WTH is Gold-Digger Debbie still doing at the Hacienda ? Something tells me the truth about the late Dante the Looter being Goldie Locks Sara's biological father will be exposed soon!

Adriana: Gold-Digger Debbie is flexing at what she does best: being a Gold-Digger!

Diana: Not shocked about the Cruz family leaving the Hacienda.

Doris: Gullible Paloma's attire is meh!

Steve Boudreaux

Since Adela & familia Cruz have moved out of their own house, will she also quit her job at SC? I certainly hope so, for her own safety. Besides, who will be their chief cook if she is gone?

Thanks, Jarifa, that was great! I didn’t catch what Augusto was saying, so was happy to read it. Really beautiful.

Prospero seems to want to blame the brothers for everything. And Rosa wanted to blame Sara. I wonder if they’ll ever admit their daughter has big problems. And will anyone ever discover that Juli sent that horse toward Sara.

Maybe Sal’s bar used to be a brothel. Then there’d be plenty of rooms upstairs!

Diane, thanks for the info on Sara’s gesture toward Pedro. I had no idea why she did her fingers toward him like that. And we can be hopeful that Sara will avoid Pedro and not be alone with him. He did say he was going to kill her.

No one to cook or clean for them! Pedro treats the help so bad they’ll never be able to hold on to good help!

Liz

Jarifa, thank you for your most excellent notes from the couch!

As frustrating as it is, I agree with Urban so far the only person who has any real proof of Pedro’s crimes is Modesto- bc he knows where the body is buried- and he’s not talking! Corni and Brayan both stayed silent too long and now have absolutely no way to prove Pedro attacked them. Although I do also agree with Adriana that when it does come down to proof that it is the authorities who make the call not Juan. There is an arrogance in his attitude but with everyone around him always saying ‘we gotta tell Juan’ you can see how that entitlement was formed!!

I see a difference between Rosa and Prospi. Rosa is just plain in denial about Juli as she always has been, she is blind and stupid. Prospi is outwardly showing anger toward the brothers Del Monte but he knows and has acknowledged that his daughter is actually I’ll. I see his blaming others not as denial but as the anger stage of grief. His reaction although maybe not fair is normal I think. And I can see blaming Juan and Mateo, because although Juli has her own responsibilities in this all three of them made mistakes.

Thanks for the trivia and the fashion tips - I am fashion illiterate but it’s good to know the hat is where it would be at if I was where it was!! ;)

"Prospi is outwardly showing anger toward the brothers Del Monte but he knows and has acknowledged that his daughter is actually I’ll. I see his blaming others not as denial but as the anger stage of grief. His reaction although maybe not fair is normal I think".

An astute observation Darcy. I am actually very afraid for him if it is true that Sev fathered Juli.

Diana

I also wondered whether Modesto should have taken out his smart phone to shoot video of either the torture of Brayan or the burial of Aurora, but wouldn't there have been a bright light Pedro could have seen?

Considering his shock and the risk to his own life I think Juan will forgive him.

As for the gold-digging witch, she has to be there when Sara learns the truth because of the shouting match that will follow. Bonus points if that is accompanied by a serious catfight. Two women with long hair and a contentious relationship that is now circling the bowl = must-see TV.

Jarifa, thank you so much for wading through the fears and tears of this upsetting episode . I hope you had extra cushy pillows and snacks.

I don't wear hats except sunhats . I buy winter coats with warm , roomy hoods. I won't be out looking for a match for Deb's squirrelly hats. However, in the fashion department , I have loved Jul's maternity wardrobe . ....elegant, classic, and comfy looking in biege and ivory .

Super job, Jarifa. So much detail and foreshadowing last night. I liked how you organized the key stuff under headings for us. Muchismas gracias for capturing it all. Everything I needed to know and choice snark. My fave:

Juan says they can go to the police about him and see that charges are filed or they can (stupidly) wait (around) until he considers and tells the truth.

Juan and Modesto. Hombres, your silence about Pedro is an epic fail. Juan, think. Didn't little Pedro like to play "torture" with his younger brothers?

Paloma says she has done that already and it turns out she is a Pérez, Sal’s daughter.

Yay! A TN character does a sensible thing for a change.

Simón pledges to never be like his father. That is why he and his father couldn’t live together. (UH OH!)

Jarifa, thanks for this. I completely misunderstood Simón's thought-bubble last night.

The debate between Deb's get-a-man-for-status and Paloma's a-man-doesn't-make-me was a good one.

Deb, what in the world are you doing going to Torture Central. You're too smart for that. I hope you brought a gun, a knife, a stick pin... I would agree to abort Sara's baby and then go straight to the police, but that's just me.

Wondering who will discover the fresh graves near Torture Central.

Thanks, all, for stopping by the patio and offering extra info or your take on this episode and Deb's fashion sense! .

In spite of the outlandish plot, this novela raises some interesting questions about what a family does when there is a psychopath in their midst. Avoid? Placate? Hope for the best?

doris, you are so right about the wardrobe dept. flubbing this episode with at least two fashion crimes. I kept wondering why Sara was in a top that looked like it had shrinked in the wash. Both styles were very unflattering.

Urban, I have found it hard not to buy a hat just because I love hats especially with big brims. That being said, I just got rid of a few because I seem to have less places to wear them. : ( Unfortunately, Juan is way too close emotionally to the problem: Pedro. As soon as Severiano was laid to rest, he should have taken Pedro to court for embezzlement.

Darcy, good point about Prospi including Mateo and Juan in contributing to Jui'is situation. Juan should have never gotten engaged to a woman he didn't love as a matter of convenience. Severiano warned him about that. Mateo has no business being with Juli knowing she was Juan's fiancee. Prospi and Rosa were to blame for not recognizing how ill their daughter was and being more than happy to foist her off on Juan for their own ends. .

Steve, I do not think that anything or anyone will stop "God Digger Debbie" in her search for unlimited wealth and unlimited fun.

Liz, Agustín is a real sweetheart. It really creeped me out when Pedro was going to punch him in the last episode. I had forgotten all about the wild horse already with so much going on. I, also, hope that Juli gets nailed for that incident, too.

Diana, thanks for explaining what Sara was doing because I missed it. I found it very unrealistic that BBS or Sara would think that giving Pedro another chance was a good idea. When is enough enough?Just the allegations of Cornelio and Brayan should have been enough let alone the way Pedro has treated each of them. If I tighten my beanie any more, I will pass out!!! LOL

Adriana, I had never thought about who was going to sleep where. I appreciated your addressing that. ; ) It seems that in almost all novelas I have seen, there is a reluctance to call the police for anything and when the complainants/victims do are usually met with corruption on one level or another. Dulce is Paloma's cousin and came to visit in the summer, had her quince and now arrived for another visit from the USA. If I remember correctly, her parents are divorced or her mother is dad and she lives with her father who doesn't give her enough attention.

Susanlynn, I have the best couch, snacks and beverages! I may have to get something special for next week as we go hurtling to the gran final!!! There have to be some surprises waiting for us!

Niecie, you described this scene perfectly: "The debate between Deb's get-a-man-for-status and Paloma's a-man-doesn't-make-me was a good one." It was goof to see Paloma step up and out of her role of dutiful daughter and loving wife to take Deb on with no fear.
They keep making us think that Simón was instrumental in killing Severiano. Even though I detest the character, I am beginning to wonder if he is being offered up as a red herring.
