La Herencia # 74, Friday, 10/14/2022, Life Altering Revelations/ Who's Your Daddy?

We open on a repeat of Pedro's grand revelation to Sara that her father not is THEIR father Sevaranio Del Monte. He’s referring to her real father, Dante!! Cara de Impactada for Sara.

Elsewhere Rosa is reacting to Deb’s grand revelation at her wedding by screaming ‘Deborah’ about the way you would scream ‘Viper’! She gets all in her face. Prospi briefly tries to restrain her but then lets her go for Deb, as he instead turns his attention to the letters now on the floor. Adela takes Prospi's position trying to hold Rosa back but Rosa is almost immediately distracted anyway when she noticed Prospi go for the letters, she begs Prospi not to read the letters. Deb is much more interested in watching the fall out than she is in fighting with Rosa. Rosa insists the letters are lies but Prospi reads them anyway. The smile on Prospi face looks a little sinister…. but then maybe he’s just shocked and trying not to cry.

Sara thinks Pedro is making up lies to hurt her since she rejected him. Pedro asks if she really thinks she’s that important to him and she says yes and it’s sad he would stoop that low.  Pedro accuses Sara of being in on the scheme with Deb and Dante and coming to Santa Catalina to make idiots out of all of them to steal their inheritance. They trade insults and accusations and somehow even now, Sara jumps to the defense of dear ol' mom when Pedro basically calls her a whore. Pedro tells Sara to go ahead and ask dear mommy what the truth is, if she doesn’t believe him. You know since she can’t ask either potential father as one is deceased and the other is missing.

Back to Rosa trying to claim the letters are not real -  Deb is quick to point out they are all in Rosa’s handwriting. Simon steps in yelling his second favorite catchphrase ‘Shut up Deborah!’ (His #1 favorite is/was ‘I hate Sara!’) Deb takes her leave as her mission has been accomplished and she's done there anyway. She tells everyone to enjoy the wedding and calls Rosa ridiculous! She grabs the little hat-let (which was ridiculous) from Rosa’s head and tosses it on her way out. Gleefully leaving total destruction in her wake as always.

Propsi really is crying now saying he always believed that he was the love of Rosa’s life (I seem to remember weeks of just the opposite – Prospi begging for affection and saying multiple times they might as well divorce since Rosa doesn’t truly love him) Rosa insists Prospi is the love of her life and the letters are lies. Sal tries to calm Prospi but he screams he won’t be calmed down and then quickly changes his mind and leaves crying out that he’s an idiot. Rosa starts to go after him and Juli stuffs letters in her purse before stopping Rosa to demand to know if it’s true, were Rosa and Sev lovers? Rosa looks at Juli for a moment and then just goes to pick up the letters. She gathers them gingerly as she begins crying harder and harder and ultimately ends up lying on the floor clutching letters and bawling. (Question for viewerville: Does Juli get her crazy from Prospi or Rosa? I am starting to believe it’s both…) As this is happening, we see Lucas comforting Alondra and Brayan comforting Jess. Juli is all alone and I can’t help but wonder if this wedding disaster will awaken the sleeping crazy within Miss Juli.

Sara is trying to ignore Pedro and just walk away, but he’s not having it. He demands she confront Deb and learn the truth. Sara keeps saying Pedro is lying but she looks like she has her doubts. Pedro says the DNA test Deb gave them all when she and Sara arrived was false, Sara doesn’t believe him. She calls him crazy and he says he’s crazy with anger and resentment because Sara and her mother came here under false pretenses. He tells her to leave now and never come back. Leave Juan and get rid of the bastard she carries in her belly. Sara says that’s never going to happen and if Pedro doesn’t want to see her, he better leave himself. Pedro chillingly informs Sara that if she doesn’t leave, he will kill her, Juan, and all his brothers!!! Tadeo is going to be the ONLY heir of Del Monte! (Note to Simon, Mateo, Lucas and Juan – any and all future children you may have are in danger!!) Sara looks like she might be starting to understand just how crazy Pedro is! She finally does leave.

Juan and Mateo are in the living room reacting to their own discovered revelation that Pedro and Dante may have been accomplices of Henry. Juan is clinging to what’s left of his denial and insisting they can’t rush to judgment. Mateo thinks that Juan is having a hard time with this because Pedro is his brother by blood and that’s a much bigger responsibility than he has to the rest of them. Juan says to never say that again. He feels the same responsibility to all of them equally. Mateo asks, if Pedro is responsible for the disappearance of Dante, are you going to report him? Juan answers that their dad knew Pedro was responsible for the fraud at the company and didn’t report him, should Juan act differently than their father??? (Big ol’ resounding YES!!!! Your father was a sentimental idiot) Mateo is getting smarter everyday and he warns Juan that it seems like Pedro stopped seeing them all as brothers awhile ago, all he cares about now is himself and Tadeo. (I’d argue himself and the reflection of himself he sees in Tadeo) Juan wonders what kind of person reports his own family and Mateo says he doesn’t know but the more he thinks about it the more sure he is that Pedro was in cahoots with Juli to lie about the baby's paternity!

Sara is walking away – walking when she should be running – rubbing her belly and remembering Pedro’s words; trying desperately to convince herself Pedro is lying. She remembers her father/daughter moment with Dante and it looks like her grip on denial is tentative at best. She can’t believe her mother would do something like this and why didn’t Dante tell her? Please let it be a lie!

Juan and Mateo take their discussion into the study and Juan says he figured Juli had help but he doesn’t have anything to prove who helped her. Mateo says everything points to Pedro even if they can’t prove it right now. Their brother is definitely not the same. Speaking of the ghoul, he appears and you have to wonder if he heard Mateo’s comment. Juan asks what Pedro needs but Pedro reads the room and says what he wanted can wait. He asks if Mateo was planning to go to Adela’s wedding and he says he’s on his way. Juan asks if Pedro saw the news about Dante, Pedro says no. Not a peep, btw, they should fire him for disappearing! He’s useless! He left Pedro high and dry with Tadeo’s custody issue! Juan wants to know when the last time Pedro saw Dante was.

Sal and Modesto are discussing what happened to poor Prospi and how the same thing happened to Sal years ago. Sal tells his brother there’s something he never told him and that has always remained a doubt in his mind. He tells him that Sev once told him that Paloma was Sev’s daughter!!! Modesto immediately tells his brother that Paloma is his and he should never doubt it!! We see a flashback to Sev and Modesto in the camp. Modesto is concerned because Irma continues to visit Sev and Sev tells Modesto that he had already ended things with Irma as he already told Modesto. He agrees that he will have a talk with Irma about coming around. Modesto is back in present day and he tells Sal that Sev’s sins haunted him and he was never able to let them go and live in peace; Sal still can though! He should drop all this rancor and enjoy what’s left of his life! Sal nods in agreement.

Pedro says the last time he saw Dante was when detective Mateo outted Julieta at her baby shower. Mateo tells him to be serious and Juan says Dante never would have disappeared like this. He doesn’t think it’s a kidnapping either since no ransom has been requested. Pedro suggests it could be pay back. Dante used to do all daddy’s dirty work (I want to know just what kind of dirty work daddy had done) and it wouldn’t be surprising if someone fought back. Juan questions whether it was just dad’s dirty work, Dante hasn’t done anything for Pedro? Pedro’s shrugs and says he doubts Tadeo’s custody battle led to Dante’s death. Mateo can’t believe Pedro can speak so casually about the possibility of Dante’s death since he was more than their lawyer, he was part of the family! Pedro says he was too close to the family for his taste. Juan thinks Pedro should be more worried about Dante, unless of course, he knows something? Pedro asks what Juan’s problem with him is. He says he feels more and more alone in this house every day, like a pest or as if he did something horrible. He tells him to speak up and Juan agrees to be direct and asks Pedro if he helped Juli fake the DNA test result. Pedro pauses and then attacks Mateo for putting ideas into HIS brother’s head. Mateo retorts that Pedro is guilty, he helped Juli. Pedro asks if Juan is going to believe Mateo and Juan tells him that they’ve discovered too many of Pedro’s lies, he’s lost his credibility. Juan wants to know what happened to their bond as brothers – the five of them. Pedro plays the victim card saying he can’t believe his brothers think so badly of him. He picked Mateo up off the ground when he was drunk is this how he repays him? Mateo asks Pedro how is he repaying them? Pedro looks directly at Juan and tells him he can go ahead and believe everyone over him, he doesn’t care anymore; but he tells his brother that he is breaking the promise he made to him as kids! He warns him not to coming crying to him about it later. Mateo apologizes to Juan for fighting but says Pedro leaves him no choice. Juan says this is getting out of control and he worries about how it will end.

Sara is now alone in her apartment wondering how she could be so stupid to not know Dante is her father. Juan calls and Sara lies and says she is perfectly fine but she needs to resolve something at home. She doesn’t tell him what. Juan tells her things aren’t great there either and he had a big fight with Pedro but he doesn't want to talk about it right now. He just needed to hear Sara’s voice, he needs her by his side. They trade ‘I love yous’ and agree to see each other later that night.

Juan goes to talk to Pedro and he’s having a pity party. He says sometimes he thinks he should just shoot himself in head because everyone would be so much better off without him (Truer words have never been spoken by Pedro!) Juan tells him to not even joke about that! Pedro may not believe it but he and his brothers love him very much and they couldn’t stand it if something happened to him. Juan asks why Pedro has pulled away from his brothers but Pedro doesn’t answer. Juan asks if Pedro really wants Juan to just leave him alone. He says sometimes he feels like Pedro wishes he was dead. Pedro says yes, that’s true! Because Juan is supposed to protect him from everything, above and beyond their other brothers and he doesn’t! His mother comes and tortures him and he doesn’t stop her!! Juan doesn’t know what Pedro is talking about and Pedro says Aurora is driving him crazy, she won’t let him alone and she torments his thoughts. He begs his brother not to let her, to make her stop!

Prospi is packing up to leave and Rosa is trying to get him to stay any way she can, including demanding he forgive her using the logic that if she forgave him his infidelity then he should forgive hers. She says it’s unfair how men or expected to be forgiven of their infidelities while women are held unforgiven. Prospi takes exception to the whole man vs woman thing especially since Rosa has emasculated him their whole marriage. He lays into her for manipulating him throughout their whole marriage and says that he put up with it because he loved her but her deception is different than his because she’s lied to him their whole marriage. Prospi says the worst part is that he still loves her but he just can’t take anymore. Rosa asks how it’s possible that he would throw away all their years of marriage? Isn’t he capable of forgiving the woman he claims to love, and Prospi looks truly disgusted that she’s still trying to manipulate her even now.

Juan comes downstairs just as Simon, Paloma, Mateo and Lucas are arriving home, he’s surprised the wedding is over so soon and Lucas gives him the news that Deb ruined the big day by revealing Rosa was another one of daddy’s dalliances! Lucas actually sounds amused as he informs his brother that there are love letters and everything. Dad sure was a piece of work. Juan worries about Simon and how he’s taking the news and Simon says this has hurt them all in the past and continues to hurt (and he sounds hurt as he almost cries) in present. Juan and Lucas both chime in and tell Simon that they can’t even imagine how hard it was for him to keep these types of secrets in the past and Lucas admits that even though they judged him in the past he probably would have reacted the same in Simon’s shoes. Paloma says she’s noticed that he isn’t so intensely affected and she wonders what’s changed. Simon says he finally understands that his father paid for all the damage he caused while he was alive and in some ways, he feels liberated by the revelation (???) Lucas pats Simon’s knee and Juan pats his face, Simon gives a little half-smile….this whole scene feels a little strange.

Juli now alone in her room digs mama’s letters out of her purse and gets to reading. She crumples each as she reads but the third envelop, she comes to looks less like a love letter and more like an official medical letter and has the letter head of a lab; (Who's Juli's daddy?) also notable, Rosa has said all along they were her letters TO Sev and he never saw them but at least one of the letters Juli read was addressed TO Rosa not from her. The look on Juli’s face grows quite serious as she reads... and viewerville can’t help but wonder if the crazy is going to stay tranquilized or if it’s about to come roaring back in full force!

Deb comes back to the apartment and is surprised Sara wanted to meet her there. She starts in with all her sarcasm, saying Sara should be at Santa Catalina enjoying a romantic horseback ride with her beloved! She quickly realizes Sara is not okay though and goes from sardonic to concerned mother in about three seconds. She guesses several possible things that could be wrong but is unprepared for the question that finally comes out of Sara’s mouth. ‘Is it true that I’m not the daughter of Severiano DelMonte?’ (Deb looks more wicked than ever in today’s makeup)

More of Rosa trying to stop Prospi from leaving, and now they in the entryway and Berta, Jessica and Alondra are there as well. Rosa once again tries to say they both made mistakes. Her mistakes drove Prospi into the arms of Deb and Prospi’s mistakes drove her to Sev!!! (Really? That’s the argument you go with to win back your husband?) For some idiotic reason she thinks it will help her case by explaining that she was vulnerable to Sev because she thought she needed a real man! You know a real Alpha Man who knew how to give his own opinion and didn’t just defer to her – even strong women need to be protected from time to time! Alondra knows this is stupid and she tries to warn Mommy to shut up and stop making things worse, but Rosa doesn’t listen. Prospi tells her he can be strong and decisive and he’ll prove it; he declares he never wants to see her again! He tries to walk away again but Rosa again clings, begging him to forgive her and begging him to stay. She says she thought that she was in love with Sev but she knows now it was illusion and ever since the day at the hacienda when Prospi protected her she’s realized HE is the love of her life (it only took how many decades of marriage for her to come to this conclusion?) Prospi doesn’t believe her, he thinks he now understands why Rosa cried so much when Sev died, she was still in love with him!!! He is determined to leave and the girls are crying in each other’s arms and I can’t believe I am going to type this but I think Prospi SHOULD forgive Rosa!!!! Not because she deserves it but just because these two are made for each other in some weird way.

Big Surprise Alert – Deb denies the truth and insists to Sara that Sev is indeed her father! Sara doesn’t believe her for a second and tells her to stop lying. Pedro told her that her real father is Dante. How can she do this to her own daughter? Deb immediately claims Pedro is a bastard and a liar – which is true enough to be fair. Sara asks mom to please, just have the decency to be honest with her for once in her life! Deb doubles down. Sara tells her she is the worst mother in the world. She lied to her for her entire life and now she’s brought her into the Del Monte’s life to fight for an inheritance that doesn’t belong to her.  Mama has manipulated her for her entire life but it’s over now, all Sara wants is for mom to just go ahead and admit what Pedro said was true and finish ruining her life once and for all! Deb finally nods, it's the truth.

Prospi says he can’t stay because he won’t live his life being compared to her great love Severiano DelMonte. Rosa says Prospi is the love of her life. We see Juli descending the staircase and her sisters are quick to beg her to say something to help, but Juli says Prospi should go ahead and leave! He has no right to reproach her mother just like mom had no right to reproach him for Deborah!!! They are both the same and made for each other – hey I said the same thing but I didn’t have that cold-hearted bitch tone in my voice when I said it…

Now that Deb has finally come clean, Sara starts listing off the damage Deb has done with her lies, making her believe the wrong man was her father her whole life, lying to Sev, keeping her from Dante, etc. Has mom forgotten that Sara almost died while fighting for that inheritance? Deb tries to insist she did it for Sara’s own good but Sara says no way, you did it for your ambition!!! Sara lets her know that Pedro threatened her and her child because of mom’s stupid lie! Pedro thinks Sara is complicit in the lie! Deb tries to start in on the 'damn that Pedro' line, but Sara says it’s consequences of Deb’s lie. She wants her out of her apartment!

Lucas and Mateo catch up to Simon outside in the courtyard. They didn’t want to say anything in front of Juan because he has enough problems but they want to know something; awhile ago Simon said Dad paid in life for what he did, what  did he mean by that? Did something else happen during the accident? Is there something Simon would like to tell them? Simon says no, he’s not hiding anything – he walks off. Lucas starts to go after him but Mateo stops him. He says Simon is obviously hiding something he’s not yet ready to talk about. Lucas utters the famous ‘We have to tell Juan’ line, but Mateo doesn’t think so. Simon would never do anything to hurt their dad. He’s probably hiding that they were fighting or something like that not some deep dark deed; they should just let it go and stop tormenting themselves. Lucas agrees.

Juan is studying some report and looking worried, he makes a call and asks someone to verify that a transaction is closed. He looks to the photo of daddy and says how difficult it is to protect the family and more so when you have to protect them from themselves!  I really hope he isn’t doing something stupid to continue protecting Pedro! He flashes back on Pedro talking about Aurora torturing him and Juan not protecting him from her.

Deb tries to play the pity card with Sara begging her not to kick her out because she has nowhere to go. Sara isn’t buying it this time, mom can find a place and she knows it. Sara asks again about the child support and whether mom has all that money stashed away and Deb still insists Sev never gave her child support. She tries to blame Dante and say he forced her to go along with his plan and that Dante himself had the money but Sara doesn’t believe her. Where was the money when they almost lost the apartment? Sara is going out and when she comes back, she wants Deb gone!!! Deb cannot move her this time with her tears and begging. And you know what hurts the most, more than all the manipulations? The fact that Deb has always cared more about money than she did about Sara. When all else fails Deb tries the ‘you should be grateful because you met the love of your life thanks to my lie’ approach but Sara tells her she’s about to lose all her happiness thanks to that same lie!! Sara walks out.

Juan walks the now cleaned out torture chamber and remembers how he and Pedro found it as children and how cool Pedro thought it was because it looked like a torture chamber! Pedro jumped up and down with glee wanting to play Pedro the Torturer!!! He remembers Pedro grabbing and choking Aurora when he saw her in the study and swearing, he’d kill her and he remembers a couple of Pedro’s other lies and confrontations. (Why are there candles in that empty room?)

Juli is once again looking at the letters pilfered from Rosa and as she looks in the mirror she says ‘This changes everything!’ She stuffs the papers back in the envelope.

Juan is still studying the empty chamber when he gets a voice message from Sara saying she isn’t coming to see him that night because she isn’t feeling well. Nothing serious but she’s tired and needs to rest. She will see him tomorrow at the office. (Good call since Pedro threatened to kill her, all his brothers and her baby if she came back to Santa Catalina)

Rosa, now alone in her room, thinks back on her fight with Prospi. She stares at her marriage bed and goes to lie down. She thinks back to some of the many times she mistreated and rejected Prospi and she cries in regret. She goes back to the mirror. She doesn’t know when she turned into that woman, the one who despised her own husband but she wants to change!! She loves Prospi! She cries that her whole life is a lie and to demonstrate that, she REMOVES HER BLONDE WIG!!! As she continues crying, we see Rosa’s true hair is short and brown.

Juan is alone in his room saying he needs to know Sara is okay when there’s a knock. It turns out Sara isn’t smart enough to stay away from Santa Catalina after all. She’s there to be comforted by her man! She doesn’t tell him what’s wrong though just that she needed to see him.

Deb is moving into a hotel room it looks like, Dante’s old room?? She is also crying and remembering the loving mother-daughter times with Sara. I hate you! She declares out loud, I hate you Pedro Del Monte!!! You hit me where it most hurt but the same way you took Sara from me, I am going to take Tadeo from you!

Sara talks to her belly saying the baby is her strength and she is going to fight for her! Juan comes back with safe-to-drink tea and asks what’s wrong. Sara says she feels so alone. Juan says she has him and all their brothers (if only he knew how comforting this is NOT in this moment) and they will always support her. Sara says it’s probably just the pregnancy hormones. She doesn’t want to talk more about it now. She needs to rest. Juan agrees they can just go to bed.

The next morning, Bea is actually having tea with Corni and she’s letting him take Tadeo to school. Corni wants to spend more time with Tadeo because he is afraid, he is starting to grow cold toward him. Bea says not to worry because Tadeo loves him. Corni mentions the wedding but the subject lands like a rock since Corni mentions he lived the same as Prospi and Bea says now everyone will start to judge Rosa as it’s always the woman’s fault. Tadeo rushes down and is not happy to see Corni, neither is he interested in his greeting. Corni is not his father, Pedro is, and now that Tadeo sees Corni and Bea have reconciled he is going to tell his daddy! Both Tadeo and Bea tell him no, not to say that; but Tadeo says yes, he will tell! Because he doesn’t want to live with Corni or with Bea! He wants to live with his father, Pedro!!!

Juan enters the office and says good morning to Sara. Apparently, she got up and left so early Juan didn’t even hear her leave. Juan gives her a kiss but Sara is cold and doesn’t reciprocate. Juan asks what’s wrong and Sara says she thinks the answer is now no. Juan looking absolutely stunned says no, what? And Sara responds that she doesn’t think she wants to return to the company or to Santa Catalina!!

Thank you, Darcy! Wonderful recap and even more wonderful commentary!
ITA that Juli got the crazy from both parents.

Loved Rosa losing the blonde wig. Who knew?

Prospi needs to get a brain. Rosa forgave him, he should forgive hair. Why does he think he is special when he isn’t? Boo Hoo!

Okay . . . Pedro is trying to hold Juan to a promise he made to him when they were kids? Really? He is nuts.

Pedro has managed to turn Tadeo into a creepy little brat in no time at all.

Darcy, your analytical expertise was on full display this evening. This is a riveting recap strewn with thought provoking comments. Just excellent.

“Dante used to do all daddy’s dirty work (I want to know just what kind of dirty work daddy had done)”. As do I.

“Mateo is getting smarter everyday and he warns Juan that it seems like Pedro stopped seeing them all as brothers awhile ago, all he cares about now is himself and Tadeo. (I’d argue himself and the reflection of himself he sees in Tadeo)” was perfect.

Although Rosa is no one’s favorite, only the hardest heart could not be moved, if only a little at Deb’s devoutly cruel outing of her infidelity. Juli was right in that Rosa and Prospi’s fates seem intrinsically bound.

It is completely improbable that Juli is somehow now sane. I can’t believe her murder attempt on Sara and her unborn baby will allow her to slip back inside the Del Monte mansion as Mateo’s wife. I sense something else coming. I only wish I knew what it was.

Pedro has aroused suspicion and is on the verge of discovery. The bodies he buried need to be exhumed. Modesto has to screw up his courage before someone else meets a gruesome fate.

I did smile just a tiny bit when Deb grabbed Rosa’s “little hat-let” (love it), calling it ridiculous. Other than that, there was nothing else I could see to smile about.

Jarifa, I had looked up the actress playing Rosa and the picture of her I saw showed lovely brown, waist length curly hair. She might have cut it but what a difference - so much better than the blonde wig.

Darcy, this was outstanding. Thank you!

Diana

I'm really torn about the whole Rosa/Prospi thing. Everything Rosa said about when a man cheats it's ok, but when a woman cheats, she is stoned to death, so to speak. And with the medical records that Juli read, it's going to get worse, a lot worse.
I'm also torn about the Sara/Deb thing. I really think Deb loves Sara in her own way. I can't believe Sara would just kick her out to the curb like that when Deb did support her with a very comfortable lifestyle growing up and an education, even though Sev was paying for it. She could have just aborted her like many women in her situation do.

Thank you, Darcy, I haven't watched yet, but it was a delight waking up to your recap this morning, especially since last episode ended with two cliffhangers.

Just a few observations before watching: this novela has always been rather fast paced, there was enough to go WTF in almost every episode, but the last couple of shows it really turned into Sudenville Mexico aka Let bygones be bygones
- Rosa despised and mocked the Cruz family her entire life and all of a sudden she is happy to share her vow renewal with "lowly" Adela and Sal, calling them her dear friends;
- Corni and Bea went from years of abuse and most recently, almost rape, to sipping tea together
- Julieta's unbelievable recovery... enough said... her thought bubble about having to tell Mateo something that she doens't dare do makes me wonder if she is not sick, maybe the doctors discovered a brain tumor that explains her crazy

I'm very curious to see the brothers' reaction when Sara tells them the truth. How will Simon react?? Will he see Sara like another victim of their parents mistakes or will he want to throw her out of the house again?

Great stuff, Darcy!

Screw his courage to the sticking place is what Modesto should do now. Pedro is past the point of no return. Locking him up would not be enough. I just hope that none of the good guys has to kill him in self-defense. Any of the brothers -- or even Modesto -- would suffer psychologically for a long time.

Before the final Karmageddons of the remaining villains they have to find the bodies. How horrible for future generations if Pedro had buried them on the property and they are not found for decades. So far nobody else knows that Aurora and Dante are dead. However, someone should get suspicious.

I am not torn at all about Sara and Deborah. Deborah liked having a pretty child because that suited her ego. She used that pretty child to get money from Severiano who was not even the father. She did not appreciate the independent and successful woman Sara had become. She could not accept Sara's way of thinking with regard to family and men in general. She wanted a grifting partner and that is not what she got.

The actress playing Rosa was Casilda in Amarte es mi Pecado back in the day. I spotted the blonde hair as a wig a while back because we did not see any roots.

Need to catch up on Ricos now; be back later.

What happened to Adela's florist shop that was such a hoopla at the beginning and that Sal worked so hard to get the landlord to rent it to her again? And the Serape Boutique???
The writers have really dropped the ball on several things, and I don't think it's a product of the cutting room.

Darcy, thank you for your recap and the most excellent snarky comments. They were all spot on.

For me, the worst part of Deb's appearance at the boda was the fact that she ruined Adela & Sal's wedding day. (Adela's dress was so pretty.) They did not deserve that.

Rosa & Prospi deserve each other, IMO. The whole irony of 'men can get away with adultery while women are stoned for it' struck me, too.

"Simon give a little half-smile and this whole scene feels a little strange."
Yes, I had that same creeped-out feeling, and it continued when Lucas & Mateo followed Simon out into the courtyard.

My guess is Deb will kill Pedro. Just a crockpot theory. Well, we have a week left, so maybe a microwave theory.

Tadeo is chillingly showing signs of Pedro's DNA and madness. He is becoming creepy.

Victoria, the flower shop and Serape boutique were all probably just plot propellers, just like Irma's random brief reappearance.

Thanks all and good morning!

I actually do think there's a huge difference between what Rosa did and what Prospi did and not because one is a man and one is a woman; but rather because Rosa had this relationship with Sev and held Sev in reverence and near hero worship for decades!! She lied for decades!! If the breadcrumbs from last night end up being true and not a misdirect she even lied about the parentage of one of her children for decades!! She treated Prospi like less than and like dirt for decades!! I think it's definitely a whole different level than Prospi's 6 week fling with Deb. Neither of them is right or okay but they aren't the same thing. I still think Prospi should forgive her though like I said, just because I think he'd probably just spend the next 20-30 years biter and resentful like Sal used to be if he doesn't; and no one needs that.

Doris, interesting comment on Tadeo and Pedro's DNA. I'm not sure it's a question of being in the DNA. I think Pedro's manipulation is showing chilling results in Tadeo. One would hope if you got that kid deprogramed quickly and kept him away from daddy he could still be something other than a psychopath! That little child actor is good at being creepy though....I actually hate to see young kids play creepy in TV shows and movies because I worry about it seeping into their impressionable minds. There was this one kid in the 90s, I can't think of his name, but I couldn't watch anything he did because just looking at him freaked me out - he was that good.....no thanks

I also agree with Urban that Deb doesn't deserve Sara's forgiveness. She lied to Sara her entire life and used her to milk money out of a rich man. She then brings her into this situation to fight for an inheritance she knows isn't hers and manipulates her and everyone else at every stage! If Deb had her way, Sara wouldn't have been one of the heirs, she would have stolen the entire inheritance from the brothers and thrown them all out on the streets! She isn't sorry, she shows absolutely no repentance and still continues to try to manipulate Sara with emotional blackmail even as she is caught. Look at what she did just that day, after everything that has happened and nearly get murdered is Deb even slowed down? Nope, she's out destroying weddings just for kicks and giggles!
What is she planning to do next? Lick her wounds? Nope! She's planning on going after TADEO!!! She's planning on harming an innocent child in retaliation for the actions of his father! No, this woman is toxic and if Sara keeps her around she will just spread the toxicity to the next generation as well. Sara absolutely should kick her out and keep her away - for the safety of her child. And Deb isn't a penniless wallflower. She can take care of herself just fine and Sara knows that.

I still think Simon didn't actually DO anything to Sev, but they sure are keeping this story thread alive to the very end!!! Just when we think it's wrapped up, they point to it again and again.....makes you wonder. I guess we'll find out in the next 6 episodes.

Diana, I agree Juli isn't cured at all. She's just resting before she unleashes the next round of BSC. I wonder what she is going to do....

Thanks, Darcy, what a good morning read!

Doris, I agree with you. Deb ruined Sal and Adela’s wedding, and that’s what stood out in this episode. That was a rotten thing to do.

I think Prospi and Rosa’s affairs are very different. Rosa’s affair may have ended years ago but I feel she loved him all these years. So she was never really a loving partner with Prospi. But Prospi basically got seduced by Deb and was immediately regretful, both times! So, to me anyway, what Rosa did was much worse. Her marriage was a sham.

Let’s hope Juli hasn’t found out she’s a Del Monte! I can picture her moving back to the hacienda and acting like she did when she was married to Juan. But if she’s not in the will would she have any rights?

I think Deb and Dante must have planned, from Sara’s birth, to get money from Severiano. And I’m sure Dante helped him with the will so Sara was in it.

So much happens every night! Can’t wait to see how this ends!

Hi all. Busy days. I haven't read the last two recaps. I'll probably catch up in the next days.

"Tadeo is chillingly showing signs of Pedro's DNA and madness. He is becoming creepy" hit me between the eyes doris.

You made an excellent albeit frightening point.

I'm fairly certain Pedro won't make it out of this alive but am now thinking that Cornelio will. I am hopeful he and Bea can effectively parent separately but jointly in trying to erase the damage Pedro might have inflicted.

Some sort of switch has been flicked in Juli. The question is will she regress or progress?

Diana

I re-watched Juli's "this changes everything" scene on our large screen TV. The document was a DNA profile. Ruh-roh!

Diana, as Tadeo made that statement to Cornelio, he seemed like a robotic Stepford child. ~ew~

Thanks, Darcy. Beautiful writing. Some of my faves:

Gleefully leaving total destruction in her wake as always.

Juan is clinging to what's left of his denial

(I'd argue himself and the reflection of himself he sees in Tadeo)

ITA Rosa's infidelity is worse than Prospi's. His was a passing fancy, while Deb worshipped Sev and his memory during all her marriage and treated Prospi like gum under her show for years. Plus, her daughters have noticed she favored Julieta over them. Still, I feel sorry for Rosa because she finally saw the light.

How lucky is Julieta that of all the envelopes she picked up, she selected one with a DNA report that's a game changer for her? How quickly she dumped on Prospi after he's been so caring with her.

Simon's reaction to Sara's paternity? It's bad enough Deb (and Sev) led Catalina to an earlier grave (though Catalina had a physical illness, the emotional stress of Sev's cheating surely worsened things), but now it turns out that b**** Deb hounded ailing Catalina to divorce Sev when Sara wasn't even his.

You go, Sara! Sara finds out everything about Deb is a lie, but still has the wits about her to ask Deb the right questions. Like how could Deb keep her Sev $$$ stash to herself when they were about to be evicted from their home.

Darcy, good point about Deb's makeup last night. The heavy application of lipstick reminded me of The Joker.

Rose taking off the wig was a surprise. Wow, she's been wearing that thing even in bed.

Tadeo's behavior is learned. He'll be okay once Pedro is out of the picture.

Pedro reminds me of a psycho Rhett Butler.

The point about Severiano's child support payments is key here. Sara owed mortgage payments that 18 years of child support money stashed away could have paid off without breaking the bank. Sara needs to get this woman out of her life by any legal means she can.

And yes, Pedro does look like Rhett, but without his virtues or his vices. That might have been deliberately planned by the wardrobe department.

" ... but still has the wits about her to ask Deb the right questions. Like how could Deb keep her Sev $$$ stash to herself when they were about to be evicted from their home. "
Niecie- Deb never answered that question, either, did she? Nope, she isn't giving up a dime. I was so happy to see Sara call her out and evict her from her home and her life.

We've all had interesting discussions on infidelity. As a child who came from a broken home due to infidelity, I've just felt you are either a cheater. Or you're not.

Is it too simplistic? I don't think so.

There are so many reasons people cheat, but can it be justified in the end?

People make mistakes. I do believe in forgiveness if and when one is able to.

Diana

Darcy - great recap and comments! I agree with you that Rosa's infidelity was worse than Prospi's. She has always treated him with disrespect, so just for that, he should think seriously consider if the marriage is worth saving. This would have made a great case for Ladies Home Journal column!
(Anyone remember that? Lol)

Is it possible that Deb lied to Dante to get him on her side and Sara really is Sev's daughter? How delicious if Dara, Juli and Paloma are all half sisters! Ha!

Jeez, Sara, enough with the belly rubbing! I don't know why, but that really bugs me. Almost as much as her terrible hair color.

Back to the football game for me.

I believe in forgiveness. Yes, everyone's made mistakes. All we need to do is look in the mirror to see someone who's made a mistake. If a person is truly remorseful, I say give them a chance.

Rosa has convinced me she's sorry for how she's behaved all these years and loves Prospi.

Deb has convinced me she's sorry she got caught.

The only terrible thing about Sara's hair is the roots. Dark roots make blondes look cheap. However Soraya of Ricos beats that by miles.

I also remember LHJ's most infamous column which made me lose any respect i may have had for that magazine . Marriage was this sacred cow that was thought more important than the feelings of the troubled couple. I can't recall the answer ever being "no."

I do not miss the 1950s in any form.

The comment about Sara, Juli and Paloma potentially being sisters reminded me of a question I have…..Paloma told Deb she had a paternity test done and Sal is her father but we didn’t see that. I am wondering if she really did or if she just said it to get Deb off her back?

Darcy, I have also wondered about that comment Paloma made to Deb. Maybe the writers will give that some closure.

Darcy and doris, I wondered the same thing. Another possibility is Paloma really is Severiano's daughter but has decided to deny that fact so as to not hurt Sal knowing that it is an issue with him. Also, she made a point of telling Deb that she earned her way in this world as compared to her.

I don't care whether Paloma is or isn't the daughter of Severiano. She recognizes that Salvador is her father in every definition of the word that has any meaning. If she took an opportunity to put Deborah in her place I will cheer her on. Along with her earning every grade and every peso.

Darcy, it was a busy day , but I finally had a chance to read your excellent account of this episode full of angst and trouble . The comments show that the episode was thought provoking and gave us a lot to think about. I enjoyed all the insightful comments . I think it was judyb who commented here many years that telenovelas are actually morality plays . Good vs bad .Right vs wrong .

One thing that stood out to me was that Sara didnt immediately rush to tell Juan that Pedro threatened to kill his brother and her baby . YIKES Que the hell !!!! That is not something you put in the back burner.

I feel that there is no place for cheating in a marriage . Traditional vows include " forsaking all others ." If you truly love someone ,that isn't hard to do because you would never want to hurt the person you love.

We all knew the actress playing Rosa was wearing a wig , but I was shocked when she removed it. I guess that symbolized Rosa exposing another secret.

Yes, Pedro does resemble a BSC Rhett Butler. He frankly doesn't give a damn...about anything anymore . I think he has a death wish and will just keep antagonizing everyone until someone puts him out of his misery. I vote for Deb .

Juan always feels like he's "protecting" his brothers from whatever, but in reality it's the brothers who are "protecting" him. "Don't tell Juan, he has enough problems," etc, etc and the end result is everyone's lying or keeping secrets to "protect" and making everything ten times worse, causing more problems all around - legally, mentally, emotionally - you name it.

Great comments and I totally agree with Susanlynn that Pedro doesn't give a damn anymore! Our Mexican Rhett Butler is acting like he wants to get caught, why else would he just go off on everyone around him?

Anonymous is also right with the fact that everyone keeps saying that "Juan needs to know this", but wait, don't tell him because " he has enough problems" and when he finally finds out things his head spins because there is soooo much drama around him.

About Paloma: I don't think she had any test done, she just told Deb she did to shut her up. I don't think she really cares, she has her father and a DNA test won't change this.

Rosa's apology might be genuine, but she has spent so much time worshiping Sev, pushing her daughters into the Del Montes' arms, treating her husband like crap and being an obnoxious snob, that I think she needs to grovel for a long while before Prospi can forgive her.

Oh well, let's see what tomorrow hold ... 6 episodes left!!

Susanlynn, this is the one instance when I can understand Sara not rushing to immediately tell Juan that Pedro threatened her and her child. If/when she tells him she'll have to tell him why and that means she has to tell him she's not a Del Monte after all, she's afraid that she will lose him when he finds out because she's afraid he will believe she was in on the fraud all along. I think she will tell him and soon but she needs a little time to fully process before she blurts it out. I think that's believable.

I am interested in what is percolating in Juli's brain . It appears that she found the lab report naming Sev as her biodad. Now what is she planning to do? No wonder Rosa was so determined to get her into that hacienda . Sara will end up there when she marries Juan. Will Juli survive to get back there ? I doubt think so.

If Juli outs herself as rightful "blood" heir, good ole Pedro might kill her next. He wants it all and takes no prisoners. This will be an interesting week. Yikes.

She will definitely retaliate against Sara and may try to steal the entire fortune. Sara will have the moral high ground here as she had renounced her claim to the inheritance. If Juli Stepford is not long for this mortal coil she will not have time to challenge the will. Deborah had already failed to find evidence that Severiano did not adopt the boys in the legal manner.

She will have a grand mal hissy fit when she finds this out.

For those watching " Ricos" , Juli is the queen of the hissy fits and feeling entitled and spoiled, but Soraya from "Ricos" is the devil incarnate and a villain we all love to hate. Yikes .

P.s. Do the brothers know that Juli sabotaged the fertilizer? If so, did they do or say anything about it ?

Susanlynn - Juli told everyone about the fertilizer, IIRC, either when she was outed at the baby shower and had another one of her massive meltdowns,,,,,or maybe it was when she was at Avocados'R'Us and threatened to stab her abdomen with the scissors. .

Yes, they do. She admitted it in a recent episode. She was then forced to leave and go home to mama.

I agree about Soraya. She is Satan's daughter.
