Little Isa cries her little eyes out after she overhears that she is adopted. She runs out of the house sobbing as Memo is walking toward the house. She runs to hide in her little playhouse, but when she hears Memo calling to her, she runs to him and, crying, she tells him she is crying because she is not his daughter…she’s adopted! Memo hugs her tightly and tries to console her as she continues to sob. (What an excellent little actress! She has me in tears!)
Karen feigns concern and thinks Dani is kidding about Falso having a lover. She tells Dani that she and Falso have never gotten along, but Karen knows that he is not the type to have lovers (other than herself). When Dani tells her she has proof and adds that she found the costume in Falso’s luggage, Karen describes the costume and tells Dani that she bought the costume.
Isa is still in tears. Memo tells her that they need to go inside because she needs to talk to her parents about this, but Isa doesn’t want to…they are liars! Memo thoughtfully explains that sometimes there are truths that people hide so as not to hurt a person especially when that person is a little girl as beautiful as she is and whom they love with all their heart. Isa thinks her parents don’t love her; so Memo reminds her what her mother said…that an adopted child is loved much more. Isa still isn’t convinced and doesn’t want to talk to them. After she asks Memo to take her to live with him, she hugs him and he struggles to hold back his tears. (how can he resist that!)
JuanPa and Gaby are at the park. JuanPa is trying to tell Gaby something and is very awkward about. Gaby guesses correctly that he wants to ask her to be his girlfriend.
Memo takes Isa to his truck and tells her that he can’t take her anywhere without her parents permission, but he can let her stay there in his truck until she calms down. Isa cries that they aren’t her parents…and she will be made fun of at school when they find out she is adopted. Memo shares how he was made fun of when he was little but his father told him that he was special to the people who loved him…and loved to see him smile and for all those who took care of him because they loved him. He continues telling Isa that she is very special because she has parents who adore her…they chose her to love and take care of her forever…and that is a wonderful gift that life gave her because God put her with people who love her.
Lupita is very excited about being at the career fair. When Sebas tells her he is interested in protecting the environment, she is impressed. Se as offers to help her submit her application for the grant and she is even more impressed.
Gaby is head over heels about being JuanPa’s novia. JuanPa makes it official with a kiss.
Isa is still with Memo and cries…now because if she is adopted that means that her real parents abandoned her and didn’t want her. Memo assures her that they didn’t abandon her…maybe they had too many problems and they gave her to parents that could take care of her. He tells her that maybe someday she will meet them. When he asks if she is now ready to go inside to talk to her parents, Isa says NO! Memo then tells he that they can continue there in the trailer…he will be there all the time she wants.
Karen and Dani are now with Falso. Unfortunately Dani has been convinced that Karen bought the costume so Falso could give it to her to put that spark back into their relationship. Falso turns the tables on Karen and tells her that she almost cost him his marriage and demands that she stay away from them!
Amparo asks Mac the Rat what he wants doing at Falso’s company.
Sebas falls out of the bus!
Mac stutters as he lies… he wasn’t doing anything. He was just curious as to how much they would have offered her for the property. He then wonders how she found out, so she tells him Eugenio was there…and they will have Eugenio’s b-day celebration THERE!!
Sebas is okay after the fall from the bus…and convinces Lupita to take him to his house.
Memo offers to go inside with Isa, but Isa tells him she will go alone. But she is afraid they will get angry with her, so Memo assures her they won’t…they’ll probably explain how she came to them and how they received her with so much love. Isa them asks Memo is he can come one night to see the stars with her. Memo assures her he will. Soon after, JuanPa and Gaby approach. After JuanPa introduces himself as Gaby’s novio, Memo asks him if he can accompany Isa inside so she can talk to her parents but Isa wants to go alone.
Karen chides Falso for talking to her the way he did. Falso assures her that he will compensate her (ON the bed). She warns that he be careful because he has no idea what she is capable of.
On their way back home, Gaby explains how she and JuanPa met (online). Memo advises her to be careful with online relationships. Gaby then comments on how much Isa likes Memo. Memo admits that Isa stole his heart. Gaby then comments on the strong connection between Isa and Memo…like father and daughter!!
Dani apologizes for doubting Falso… ughhh! Isa then comes in crying. Dani tries to hold her but Isa tells her “Let me go! I know I am adopted! … You lied to me…I’m not your daughter! I’m adopted!” The Jack ass yells at her!! When Isa mentions Memo, Falso accuses that Memo told Isa, but Isa yells that HE is the one who told her…she overheard him! When Isa runs off crying, Dani runs after her, but Falso tries to stop her. Dani rightfully yells at him and tells him that she doesn’t understand his attitude! Dani then goes to Isa’s door and pleads to be let in…she just wants to hug her. When Isa tells her that she lied, Dani explains that she wanted to wait until Isa was older. Isa retorts that she is already older; so Dani agrees and asks Isa to forgive her. Isa finally opens the door and mother and daughter hug.
Ursula has figured out what Max is trying to do—sell the family’s property. Ursula also knows that Max just finished a job…and takes Mac’s money from him.
Sebas tries to get fresh with Lupita…and loses many points with Lupita. Eugenio then overhears that Lupita wants to take Sebas to the hospital and wonders what trouble Sebas is in now.
Amparo makes it clear that She does whatever she wants at her restaurant…she WILL have Eugenio’s party there! Max thinks Eugenio is interested in Amparo.
Dani tells Isa that she was born from her heart…just like when blooms open up, her heart opened and Isa was there…and she will live there forever. Isa tells Dani that she too is in her heart.
Sebas tells Eugenio that since he took his car, he has had to use the bus…and he fell out. And since he is hurt, he need to rest and not go in to work. Eugenio tells him that then Sebas can’t go to his b-day that will be at Amparo‘a place.
Dani explains how Isa came to her as a newborn. When Isa asks about her other mother, Dani assures her that her other mother loved her…but her mother went to heaven and up with the stars…and is always taking care of her from there. Isa wants to look up at the stars…maybe they can see the star where her mamita lives. Dani agrees they should do that and share that she always prays for her mamita. Dani then assures Isa that she fills her life with happiness…and her love for Isa is so big that no one can tear it apart.
Karen arrives home and Lupita leaves. Eugenio offers to take her home.
Memo tells Leo about Isa finding out that she is adopted. Memo hugged he so tightly that he can still smell net scent. Memo wanted to tell Isa that he is her father…but he doesn’t want to hurt her. Leo thinks Memo shouldn’t be so close to Isa, but Memo need to be close to her to protect her.
Falso taped back Isa’s drawing and feigns love for Isa. Isa is easily convinced and hugs him. When she asks if he will join them to see the stars with the telescope Memo gave her, Falso thinks Memo is taking too many liberties. Isa then asks Falso to attend an event at school and he agrees.
Leo and Memo continue to talk about Isa…and how they still need to keep their secret that Isa is Memo’s daughter. Leo warns that Ursula is getting toxic because of his closeness with his new boss…and whatever Memo does, someone will get hurt.

Notes from the couch . . .
ANGEL
-Angel, after finding the backpack in the trunk of the car, calls Julia to give her the news. He has no idea who the owner is but wants her to take a look at it. She tells him to just photo the items he finds in it, send them to her and she will let him know if it is Misael's but Angel insists on them getting together so she can see the backpack and its contents in person when he gets back. She tells him that the blood on the gauze was not Misael's and that the police are still investigating.
-Angel is dead tired the when gets back to his office but things are about to get worse. He gets a message from a whiny Ana Sofi telling him that that a big surprise is waiting for him when he gets home. Well, the big surprise is that her father is there for supper.
When Angel is less than enthused, Santino offers to leave. Angel tells him he just worn out but invites him to stay. First, Santino wants to know when they will announce that they are formally engaged. He doesn't like them living together without any formal commitment. His friends want to know all about who his daughter is marrying. He wants to pay for another formal engagement party. Ana Sofí sees no need since they are super committed. Angel sees no need for a huge shindig before the wedding. Well, then Santino will pay for the wedding and their honeymoon. Ana Sofi squeals in delight!! Angel thanks him but a honeymoon is out of the question until he can solve the problems at his family business. Ana Sofi is disappointed. Santino understands Angel and he thinks he can help him by becoming his partner and helping to fix his family business. Angels doesn't think this is the time or place to discuss something serious like that. Ana Sofí moves on to talking about planning her wedding. When Santino leaves, Ana Sofi accuses Angel of being rude to her father. Angel says he wasn't rude but it wasn't the time for a surprise or talking about a partnership in his business. He tells her that just because her father lent him money doesn't mean that he owns him or his company. Ana Sofi threatens to leave if he keeps talking to her in like that. Angel tells her that she is not tied to his place in any way. Since she moved in without even asking his opinion, she is free to leave anytime she wants. She says she is very happy living here but does not want to be fighting all the time. Neither does he and he is afraid they are going to end up hurting each other. She decides to go to bed.
ESTER
We start the episode with a flashback to Iván's 18th birthday a couple of months earlier. Ester is so proud of him but reminds him that he is now responsible for all of his actions as an adult. She leaves to get his gift when he gets a text from Margarita (of all people) saying that they have to talk. He looks troubled. Ester returns with his gift. It is a backpack. At the end of the episode, she discovers the same backpack on the chair in Angel's office. She wonders how it got there.
Ester is being trained when she finds out from the secretary that Funes has very serious financial problems. Homero made some very bad decisions. He took out a huge loan but the money disappeared before it could break used for the company. Ester asks how it happened. The secretary says that he and Braulio keep that information confidential. Ester also finds out that a while back, Homero put Braulio in charge of the finances at the company. Angel kept him in that position when he took over.
JERO
Things are going much better for Jero and his sons. He ends up having supper at the house with Lerna and Donato. They look and sound like one big family.
Jero gets a call from Flavia telling him that the renter is interested in selling furniture. He meets with her and Ester to take a look at the furniture . He and Ester exchange phone numbers so he can call her directly about the furniture and not bother Flavia. Flavia has no idea that she has been fooled.
CELESTE
Things seem to be calmer with Rayo until she gets a call from Mati. It is urgent. they need to talk. Rayo talks Celeste is going to see Mati for a half our. That turns out to be a lot longer since Mati has an idea of how to collect money for Rayo's quince. They don traffic vests and collection cans and pretend they are orphans begging for money for their orphanage. They end up not getting too much. Rayo gets no calls from Celeste because her cellphone is dead. In the mean time, Braulio has arrived home and is angry seeing how upset Celeste is. He goes out looking for Rayo. When he thinks she might have been struck dead by a car in the street, he gets a call from Celeste saying that Rayo was home. When he gets home, he gives Rayo a piece of his mind and is less than impressed by her apology. He reminds her that she put them in a very bad situation because they are responsible for her for the moment. She could have been dead in the street. Rayo starts to mouth off and says but she wasn't. Celeste tries to make nice but neither Rayo or Braulio are being nice anymore. Brauliio tells Rayo to be quiet because she is living in his house. He tells Celeste that they need to find somewhere else for Rayo. An angry Rayo tells them she NEVER asked them to take care of her or be responsible for her. Braulio asks Celeste if she is happy now that he is being insulted and disrespected in his own house. Rayo goes to her room and bumps Braulio along the way. Braulio is disappointed in Celeste. She didn't take his part. She is unable to stand up for him. The next day, Celeste tries to make peace with Braulio but he isn't in the mood. He asks her if she is willing to ruin her life by not looking after herself and her pregnancy because of somebody she is not even related to. He reminds her she has a neurologist appointment about medication that afternoon. Rayo treats her no better. Rayo is going to do what she wants to do because Celeste is not her mother and cannot tell her what to do.
JULIA
A year earlier, we see Julia and Misael as he gets ready for is first driving job with Funes. (There is a backpack in the shot that is similar to the one found in the trunk.) He isn't exactly a happy camper and is even more unpleasant when she says they have to thank Braulio and Celeste for getting him the job. Misael says he got the job on his own. She tells him that they will benefit from health insurance, and possible loans from this job. Also, he gets to travel with his new job. He doesn't see any hope of them ever having enough money to move out of her father's house and buying something of their own.
Julia texts "sin filtros" to asks why they are defending Misael and if they know if he is still alive. "Sin filtros" answers her saying that Misael is, indeed, alive and is probably closer than what she thinks.
EVERYTHING ELSE
Gina happily discovers that Ariel and Erik are not a couple.
Erik has broken up with Fabiola but is still talking to her when she calls.
Ariel wants Gina to work as a petite model for him.
Gina think that Julia would be a perfect employee for Ariel. He tells her that he knows that already!
Finally, Julia's family have mastered the art of not mentioning Misael's name when talking about him in the presence of Danny.
Rayo was named after Nuestra Señora del Rayo (Our Lady of the Ray/Beam of Light) who her mother had a particular reverence for.
Please feel free to add anything I left out.
Jan, thank you for both your "WEST COAST EDITION" and your other comment. They are both very much appreciated. It is very often the case that something that one of us misses or just glosses over is brought up later by someone else. As happened here with your West Coast Edition.
You mentioned that Mario showed old fart Agustín a picture of Melody sleeping peacefully and calmly in Gladys and Mario's bed. I think this picture managed to tug on Agustín's heart strings and allow him and Mario to put their differences aside for Melody's benefit. So it was important.
Thank you for that.
The second thing I want to thank you for is your mention that Ignacio stated that they were living together. You were correct about that.
My good friend Srta CC claims Ignacio said "Paulinita y yo estamos saliendo y ya vivimos juntos", going together and living together. Oh, these wild and crazy Mexicans!
Our Good Diana perhaps did not want to scandalize any young readers, such as you or me, and translated it rather freely as "Ignacio announces he and Paulina are novios!"
:-)
It's all fun!
Andy
A thoughtful, insightful, and lovely recap of a heart wrenching episode Rgv Chick. Your sensitivity was evident throughout. “Dani assures her that her other mother loved her…but her mother went to heaven and up with the stars…and is always taking care of her from there” was lyrically lovely.
Many favorites included “Falso assures her that he will compensate her (ON the bed)” and “Karen knows that he is not the type to have lovers (other than herself)” which had me smiling away.
Fausto’s coldness was in such sharp contrast to the affection and caring Memo already has for her. Dani’s anguish was assuaged after Isabella quickly realized her mother’s words were heartfelt and true. Every moment she has spent with her mother gave that credence.
Love the hairstyles including the little gold stars in Isa’s headband and Lupita’s four small hair clips.
“Gaby then comments on the strong connection between Isa and Memo…like father and daughter!!” That and Amparo seeing Isabella reflected in the picture of her as a child (literally and figuratively) was sweet and touching.
Alberto Estrella (Macario) does slime so well!
So Sebas, who is SO environmentally conscious has never taken a bus! Let’s hope he never has to take an NYC subway in NYC, which was child’s play in comparison.
Thank you Rgv Chick!
Diana
Jarifa, thank you for (another) exceptional recap. I have such difficulty understanding the dialog, your marvelous translations and explanations are gratefully appreciated!
“Santino understands Angel and he thinks he can help him by becoming his partner and helping to fix his family business”. Yes, I’m sure that is exactly what he thinks. I give Angel a solid vote of confidence that he is not allowing Santino or his clingy, annoying daughter to force him to do anything he doesn’t want to. But the pressure is mounting. And quickly.
Another possible key to the puzzle is that “Ester also finds out that a while back, Homero put Braulio in charge of the finances at the company”. This could portend much. And I suspect none of it good.
I got such a kick out of Chepina’s posing for her online dating photos. There were several where she looked really pretty, especially in the red polka dot blouse. I hope they devote a little more to this deserving storyline.
Jero’s sons both seemed welcoming when he joined them for dinner, especially Ebe. I liked Jero and Ester putting one over on Flavia.
“Rayo is going to do what she wants to do because Celeste is not her mother and cannot tell her what to do”. While she has Braulio’s number, I’m disappointed Rayo isn’t as intuitive about Mati and that she is giving Celeste a hard time, especially as Celeste has gone against Braulio for her.
What did Margarita text Ivan about?? So, so, many unanswered questions.
Gina, Ariel and of course Erik. Hmmm, he still jumps when Fabiola calls…
Jarifa, this was fantastic. Thank you, thank you!
Diana
Hola, Finca gang.
One again excellent recaps and observations.
Move over Laverne & Shirley. Lucy & Ethel. Andrea & Chabelita served some serious comedy chops @ Olinka’s Tráiler FAIL.
I was happy to see Dra. MónicaTraven (née Victoria Balvanera) deliver the good news about Sofia’s recovery. This allowed Mario and Pops to bond and Augie to deliver Sofia with some much-needed tough love.
Rocio and Helena were concerned that Gonzalo had not shown up and agreed to lie as needed to keep Brandón from further hissy fits. Despite this strategy, newly-single Brandón managed to have a pity party throughout the episode. It’s unclear whether the sassy knitted cap finally snapped him out of it towards the end.
Wasn’t it Andrea that made the major donation to Brandon’s cause?
I cheered when Zulema finally put on some boots made for walkin’; however, Oracle Andy is probably right. Why would she come to her senses now?!!
The graduation was sweet (beanies getting tighter than Brandón’s new hat) with all the happy couples coexisting and mingling without anyone upset about the false weddings, sexualities, and pregnancies that brought this group together. Best line: Katya & Paulina agreeing never to fight over the same man again. Just wow.
Which brings us to the cat fight cliffhanger.
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode!!!
O.S.
Diana, I, too, was disappointed in Rayo giving Celeste a hard time. Is she really the same girl terrified of being sent to an orphanage a week ago? Her brushing past and bumping Braulio was also inexcusable. I cannot blame him now for wanting to get her out of the house. Rayo needs a living situation with consistency and security to keep her away from the likes of Mati. (Pretending to be asking for donations for charity. Really?) She will not find those things where she is. Celeste isn’t up for it and Braulio isn’t interested.
I, too, get a kick out of Chepina. I am glad you mentioned her name. I forgot what it was. Time to add it to my list before I forget it again.
This is turning out to be a pretty good mystery.
Thank you RGV chick for your wonderful recap of this emotional episode. You captured every bit so it so movingly.
I agree the little actress playing Isa did so well in her scenes but I also still agree with Liz that it seems a little much that she would react so strongly at her young age. Then again I was reminded of my friend's young daughter whose father split when my friend was still pregnant - that little girl started asking some tough and surprising questions at a very young age. It's hard to know what ideas a young impressionable mind will absorb.
Juanpa stumbling around trying to ask Gaby to be his novia was cute!
I fell on a bus in LA once! I was in college and it was not my first or last time riding a bus but it made a sudden stop and I was carrying a bunch of groceries so I couldn't even catch myself or stop the fall!! I fell like 1/3 of the length of the bus and I wasn't badly injured thankfully but it was EMBARASSING!!! I'm like watching Sebas try to balance being a little flirt with being a good guy to get Lupita's attention.
And I really enjoyed watching Eugenio tease the heck out of his son telling him he had to rest instead of seeing Lupita home or going to his bday party the next night - which happened to be at Lupita's mom's restaurant of course!! LOL Daddy was enjoying making Jr squirm! I've never seen that actor (Eugenio) play a good guy role so it's interesting to see him good natured.
YAY!!!! Happy Dance!!! I was so excited to see this is coming Dec 6!!! I have said it before a couple of times but I was really hoping Uni would play this one because I have seen a few episodes and I was really interested in seeing more! It has a great cast and from what I saw the cast chemistry was already pretty awesome! So I've been hoping and waiting to see it make the Uni line up!!! Not shocked it's in the daytime slot since it didn't do too well ratings wise for Televisa - but we've all seen that show that was really good even though it somehow never garnered the ratings and I'm betting this is going to be one of those shows!!
I am definitely IN!! And I can't wait!!! Is anyone else going to watch this? I can write up a little intro and who's who (no spoilers of course) later in the week for anyone is interested in knowing more about the production in deciding whether to watch; or for those who are going to watch and like to have the little cheat sheet to help them keep names and characters straight for the first couple of episodes as we are getting to know the characters!!
Have I mentioned I'm excited??? LOL
Thanks, Jarifa, a great recap that filled me in on things I missed
I am so disappointed in Rayo, but then I think back and she wasn’t getting along with her mother either. Part of her behavior is her age, and she just lost her mom. But I think I would be bending over backwards to please Celeste and Braulio. I really thought Braulio looked a little concerned when they said a teenager had been killed. But I also think he wants to isolate Celeste from everyone so she’s totally dependent on him.
How long will Angel be able to put up with Ana Sofia? I loved that he said, you moved in without consulting me and you can move out too! Santino and Angel do not look at life, or other people, the same way. I think his whole plan is to take over the company. So not sure if he approves of the wedding or is just going along until he gets what he wants.
It was great to see Ester and Jero pretend to just meet in front of Flavia. Can’t wait to see how they explain their living arrangement. And I wonder how his sons will take it, and the ex wife. I hope the boys are ok with it and Lenar gets jealous!
Liz
Thanks, Diana and Darcy! This was definitely an emotional episode...and I LOVED every scene Isa/Memo and Isa/Dani scene! It was impressive how Memo has no clue about being a father, yet he knew exactly what to say to Isa and comfort her. And Dani winning Isa over was beautifully done...the writers outdid themselves! Falso, of course, lived up to his jackassiness (is that a word? LOL) self; and Karen...well, I'm just glad we didn't see more of her.
I'm starting to enjoy the young couples: JuanPa/Gaby and Lupita/Sebas. Darcy, I agree about Eugenio--watching him "stick it" to Sebas was funny. I wonder if Sebas will have a sudden recovery...and go to work? LOL
I also anjoyed Amparo telling off Mac and standing up for what she wants. I still wonder how she has been able to put up with the Rat for such a long time! Surely he has been gambling for a long time. And now I'm wondering if Mac isn't the one who got Ursula into stealing; I certainly wouldn't doubt it.
Just wanted to give a big WELCOME to O.S. I try to read (or at least skim) over the comments from the other TNs and I am already impressed with your comments! And I see that you are imbedding details into your comments--a sign of a good recapper :-) What a wonderful addition to our community...once again, WELCOME!!
Darcy, I wish I could watch along with you and anyone else, but my afternoons are very hectic. I too caught quite a few episodes of this when it aired in Mexico and I certainly liked what I saw. Christian de la Campa has a role that is quite different from anything he has ever done and he was awesome! And of course there is plenty of other eye candy in this one...which is always a good attraction. RAWWRRRR!! :-)
Thanks Rgv Chick, for the detailed recap. I am thinking she heard Fausto saying he’s not her father, she’s adopted. Hearing it that way would really hurt. She cried so long and hard. But Memo did a great job of comforting her.
So Karen convinced Dani that she bought the outfit so Dani could spice up her marriage. If their dads were partners their friendship must go way back. So Dani might be remembering her friendship from long ago. She needs to open her eyes to the present Karen, who is always with Fausto.
Macario and Ursula have a strange relationship. Are they cousins or uncle and niece? I think I’ll check back to the character list.
I love how in these telenovelas everybody is somehow connected. Now Eugenio has another connection to Amparo, and Dani and Memo do through her brother and Gaby.
Liz
So, a late night comment to Andy and Jan has disappeared. Well, I'd rather that than the recap I guess!! I didn't save it (shame on me)...I know I thanked you both for clarifying Ignacio and Paulina were in love AND going to live together (among other things). You guys are great.
O.S., I just loved "The graduation was sweet (beanies getting tighter than Brandón’s new hat)". Just great. Your entire comment made me smile.
OK, so who am I to argue with "Oracle Andy??" But, that said, my money is that Zulema was going, going, gone. We will find out soon.
Waiting for you to join in SpanProf.
Today's should be a good one!
Diana
Jarifa, I'm conflicted about Rayo. She suffered a terrible loss and is still raw from her mother's death.
She intuitively senses all is not right with Celeste, yet she doesn't respect her and does what she wants. She KNOWS Braulio is manipulative and yet instead of staying by Celeste's side she runs every time Mati crooks her little finger.
I haltingly submit she has a bit of Margarita in her. Not knowing all the facts, it still appears that Margarita was no saint. But how mush of a sinner, remains to be revealed.
Thank you so much for all that provide!
Diana
"It was impressive how Memo has no clue about being a father, yet he knew exactly what to say to Isa and comfort her. And Dani winning Isa over was beautifully done...the writers outdid themselves!" was beatifully stated Rgv Chick. I am so enjoying the story and the acting by all has been first rate!
Liz, the thing about the negligee that has me smiling is - who gives someone such a present, without a box and tags, wrinkled, WORN and crumpled up in a ball in a suitcase? Dani wants so desperately to believe but I had to put my beanie on to accept she fell for that! :)
Darcy, "Daddy was enjoying making Jr squirm! I've never seen that actor (Eugenio) play a good guy role so it's interesting to see him good natured". I completely agree! He was in the second installment of Vencer playing one of the most evil characters ever. This is a very welcome change.
Diana
Jarifa, thank you for your excellent recap that answered all my questions .
The clues are spilling out...the mystery backpack . We see it opened as a birthday gift . Then Angel finds it in the trunk of the company car. Then Esther is shocked to find it in Angel's office . hmmmmm...
Ana is smothering Angel with besos ...while smothering him in general . Slimy Santino is waiting for Ana's sexy charms to work so he can get the company . I am always amazed by Ana's outfits . I have noticed that instead of tight sheath dresses , the new style is a tight top and skinTight long skirt to reveal the midrift. Also , very short dresses are in vogue. ....way shorter than miniskirts were back in the day . yikes. I always look forward to Ana breaking suddenly into English right in the middle of her baby talk in Spanish. This actress is killing it as the spoiled little rich girl. She makes me crazy.
Mati is messing up Rayo's chance for stability with Celeste, and Rayo's rudeness may make Celeste give up her struggle to fight Braulio over letting Rayo stay with them . Poor Celeste is caught between co trolling Braulio, a teenager, and her illness. yikes
What exactly dues Ariel do?
So...Fabiola has joined us via phone . ha.
Best scene was Flavia floating and gloating around Esther's apartment acting like the Queen bee while Esther and Jer smirked at each other behind her back . Ha ha. So good.
RGV Chick, I totally get it about the daytime...I definitely can't watch live - my boss would not approve!! hehe I will be watching via on demand later in the day for sure!
I also 100% agree about Christian de La Campa, from the little I saw his performance was phenomenal and the role and character were totally captivating. Looking forward to seeing more~
Diana, of course, it doesn't help that nobody has made plans on where Rayo is supposed to go after her two week stint with Celeste and Braulio. Does Celeste really believe that Braulio will allow Rayo to stay longer? It is my gut feeling that especially after Rayo's latest infraction, Rayo will be gone. Maybe Rayo feels a need to keep things on good terms with Mati just in case she ends up back on the street. ITA that she probably has some of Margarita in her.
Liz, I agree that Santino has an ulterior motive with Angel's company. Ana Sofi certainly is deaf to Angel's needs. If Angel ends up marrying her, his life will be pure hell. As for Lenar, I would love to see her jealous. This whole situation has done nothing but play totally in her favor and as the old saying goes "It takes two to tango." She can't blame the current situation 100% on Jero since she was the one with the long term affair. I do like Donato though.
susanlynn, Ariel is a self-described fashion designer. It sounds like he is into casual wear. He once had a brick and mortar store but that didn't work out so he is re-launching his business online with direct sales. That is where Julia comes in with her experience in direct sales and now Gina can be his petite model. It sounds like Erik is his rep when he isn't admiring his own biceps. That is getting old! LOL
Yes, Mariluz Bermúdez is killing it as Ana Sofi. I am starting to cringe when I hear her with her baby talk. Yikes!
Thanks, Rgv Chick. Super recap of a moving episode.
Falso is some piece of work, but I was surprised he tried to blame Memo for Isabela discovering she's adopted. How would Dani's new worker know this? Oh well, glad Isa set this straight.
ITA Memo has the makings of a great father. When he told Isa he couldn't take her home without her parents' permission but she could sit with him in the truck for as long as she wanted to, ah!
I like Sebas, but is he lazy? Or is it that he's not interested in working in his dad's business?
Thanks, Jarifa. All the deets I needed. Love the way you craft it.
Ana Sofi threatens to leave if he [Angel] keeps talking to her in like that. -- Angel, please please keep talking to her like that!
Ugh, Rayo is no dummy and knows Braulio will jump at any excuse to put her out. Yet she's behaving like a teenage brat. I'm ticked at her because she could, at least for Celeste's sake, not get snippy with Braulio. Rayo, their house, their rules. Mati is not feeding or housing you.
Nice to see things looking up for Jero and Ester having a little fun putting one over on Flavia.
Your entire comment was fabulous SpanProf!
Yes, what a relief that Augustin is now seeing clearly! He will always be Melody's grandfather and accepting (and liking) Mario and Gladys will help their relationship all the way around.
"I wonder if under Mexican law, the fact that Andrea and Maty witnessed the will under their aliases matters". That's an excellent question. Everything is so crazy at this point, it certainly should but now I'm wondering if the will is even valid?? I have too many questions and too little answers.
I better get moving so I can watch and recap - showtime is coming up!
Diana
Chick thank you so much for that detailed recap of all the events.
I am getting a big kick out of Macario and his fashion sense ...or nonsense .What a wheeler dealer . The puffy vest with no shirt..ha.
Ursula is scary and fits right in between her weird tio and hubby . yikes .
The tiny actress playing Isa is beautiful and talented beyond her years . wow. Her scenes with Memo and Dani are lovely and warm .
It's nice to see the actor playing Eugenio play a good guy (is He? ...if so what happened to his kids ?) It's interesting that he was in the previous Vencer playing a very bad guy.
Will Leo ever take his hat off?
Darcy, I might watch if there are some actors I know and like .I don't know anything about this show.
Events are combined and not necessarily in order. Please add to and/or correct anything I misunderstood or didn’t understand.
We begin with Olinka and Andrea’s fight over “millions of dollars”. Olinka calls Andrea a traitor and Andrea retorts that she threatened her daughter. Andrea looks like she may have a plan.
“Yes, I’m in love with Katya” Rodrigo admits to Tyler. “Hermano” Tyler responds smiling…
Isis invites Helena to sit and relax as incense and candles burn. A bit of hocus pocus and then she talks about Brandon, he will be fine. Isis initially looks confused when Helena asks about Gonzalo, but quickly looks very concerned. “Is he all right” Helena asks? “No” is the answer!!!
Brandon sporting a blue knitted cap and bulging biceps is at home. Helena in a pretty purple lace blouse, tells him Vilyeri is better for him than Megan. Oh, and Rocio spills that Katya is his sister!! And she adds, Katya doesn’t know Gonzalo is her father. Helena visits Andrea who sympathizes about Brandon. Helena thanks Katya for helping raise the funds for Brandon’s medical bills. Andrea says something like they are practically siblings. They talk about Gonzalo. Helena runs into Tyler on the way out. Gonzalo left and hasn’t returned, she tells him. She explains she is concerned as he is her husband and her childrens father. Tyler tells her it was Gonzalo who had the helicopter sabotaged. He adds Gonzalo is responsible for the pilot’s death. He will spend many years in prison!
Rodrigo and Katya are loosening up in the yard as Vilyeri shows up in her “running late is my cardio” shirt. The three take off.
Sofia is home in bed as Mario visits. Sofia looks fairly calm initially but gets agitated quickly. Dr. Traven tells Augustin Sofia is anxious and he explains her struggles with alcohol among other things. Sofia and Gladys are having a fun time at the pool, Melody riding a swan float.
Chabela yells at Rene, accusing him of atrocities with Olinka. Her loyalty is with Andrea. Once she leaves, he takes off a picture to reveal a wall safe. He plants a camera across the wall. He taunts Andrea when she comes in and she tells him to get out, throwing everything she can get her hands on toward the door he is leaving from. We later see that is exactly what happened as the camera records the safe combination when she opens it, taking the cash.
Diana
After their run, Katya, Rodrigo and Vilyeri cool down with drinks. He shows her something on his phone, something about traveling for modeling? Rodrigo learns who Brandon is as Katya leaves. Rodrigo says “encanta” when Vilyeri asks if he likes Katya.
Sofia, recalling Melody’s caring for Gladys, trashes her apartment in anger as she pulls liquor from the base of a plant and chugs from the bottle. So much for rehab. She is making herself up like a clown when Augustin comes in, dropping the bags as he sees her… He grabs the bottle from her as she falls on the floor. He helps her on the bed as she cries.
Katya shows up at Brandon’s, bearing cake. He invites her to sit as he imparts life altering news. “Katya, we are hermanos!!” Katya laughs but after seeing his serious expression, sobers quickly. Although he didn’t use James Earl Jones’ voice, the impact was still stunning: “Gonzalo is your father!!!” She is in tears and then screams at him, letting out her anger and frustrations. The patio fully realizes that Andrea and Katya’s relationship is fractured. Yet again. So frustrating that Andrea honest with her?!
Andrea hands Tyler a briefcase containing the money for the loan (I think). Tyler walks up to Andrea thisclose but I didn’t understand his response. She does tell Tyler she loves him. He says it’s impossible, not letting on he knows they aren’t related. She turns her back and cries. “We are hermanos” he says. She thinks to herself they aren’t but doesn’t say it out loud. She picks up the briefcase and hands it to him and he leaves.
Tyler and Rodrigo talked but their conversation was beyond me.
Gladys, Mario and Melody (both girls wearing fetching hats) arrive home as Augustin calls, spoiling the moment. What is it? Sofia is out of her mind (no that wasn’t what was said but…). Gladys puts Mario’s hand over her heart, and I misted a bit. I’ve come to like her so much. Augustin is heartsick.
Katya arrives home and does she seek Andrea out? Nopis. It is poor Chabela that she sits down and asks – is it true? Is Gonzalo my father? Chabela’s eyes widen as she stares wordlessly.
Diana
Darcy, I had also eagerly looked forward to this but I was hoping it would air in Primetime.
I'm already invested in Vencer and Camino and am helping to recap Mexicana until it ends. At this point, I don't know if I will be able to watch but I'm sorely tempted...
Diana
Susanlynn, as far as what it is about. I will type of a little something closer to the weekend when I have time. Maybe Friday since I have the day off.
The cast is full of familiar faces to me so I am betting they are familiar to you. Gonzalo Garcia Vivanco (most recently we saw him as Rigoberto in Desalmada, my favorite previous role of his was Flavio Gallardo in Tierra de Reyes) is the galan in this and Alejandra Espinoza (one of the few I didn't recognize and Wiki says her only previous television role was as Sonia Aristimuno on Rubi which I didn't watch) is the protag.
Also starring are: Altair Jarabo - Victoria in Por Amar Sin Ley, Consuelo in Pasion y Poder, Olga in Vencer el desamor, lots of other stuff)
Oka Giner - I'm familiar with her from Telemundo shows - Susana in Bajo el Mismo cielo, Yesenia in Quien es quien, and Rosario in Senora Acero)
Rodrigo Guirao - I've only seen him in Senora Acero but he has a pretty steady list of shows back to 2003 so you've probably seen him.
Christian de la Campa - Samuel Gallardo in Tierra, Juan in Vino el amor, Salvador Mendoza in La hija Prodiga, Paulo Manrique in Vencer el desamor, lots of other stuff.
Diego Olivera - long list of stuff most recently Lucio in Vencer el Pasado, many other shows I've never seen lol
Gabriela Spanic is in this but her character is introduced later on in the series. Eduardo Yanez as a small part that is mostly seen in flashbacks. This is not an all inclusive list of course but these are the main cast members. Sian Chiong who has the role of Diego Torres in Mexicana is also in a main role in Guerrero.
Diana - I totally get the time crunch thing. I was hoping for prime time too but I'm excited we get it. I am not watching Vencer at all since it has the whole loss of a mother in the main plot. But I am well familiar with how difficult it is to keep up with three novelas at once! If it helps this is replacing Mexicana so it won't begin until that one is over at least lol. I hope you decide to give to temptation and join us because I think it's going to be worth it!
O.S. welcome to Caray Caray. I believe you are right that it WAS Andrea's 10,000 pesos donation for his fund. Diana, I was here yesterday. I posted on #1 a couple of times.
WEST COAST EDITION
This is only a tease, not a complete recap.
Andrea to Olinka: Cambiaron las reglas del partido. They have changed the rules of the game. They argue and fight.
Rodrigo to Tyler: Si estoy enamorado de Katya. Yes I am in love with Katya.
Isis performs a seance for Helena about Brandon, and yes Gonzalo too. In it Helena discovers that Brandon will be able to walk again (TN medicine...) Then she asks about Gonzalo. Isis sees that Gonzalo se ha transformado en oscuridad and se ha convertido en una muerte viviendo. Gonzalo has crossed over to the dark side and has converted himself in to the living dead. Could this be the end of Gonzalo? Or do the writers have more in store for Gonzalo?
Helena keeps the results of the seance from Brandon and Rocio. They need not know.
Brandon to Rocio: Katya es nuestra hermana.
Later, Katya visits Brandon, who is in his wheel chair at home. He tries to break the news to Katya. you'll have to watch the eppie or read the other posts to find out Katya's reaction.
And that's your daily tease.
Good evening Jan! I posted a comment to you and Andy that disappeared last night but I hope you saw the one I posted on the previous post.
"Then she asks about Gonzalo. Isis sees that Gonzalo se ha transformado en oscuridad and se ha convertido en una muerte viviendo. Gonzalo has crossed over to the dark side and has converted himself in to the living dead". This was excellent Jan! I am wondering if Gonzalo is dead now too! I guess we will find out.
"Andrea to Olinka: Cambiaron las reglas del partido. They have changed the rules of the game" was also great.
Very illuminating and important quotes. Thank you so much!!
Diana
Thanks Diana for your excellent, two part post. You provide such amazing detail. I got it wrong. It was Rocio that broke the news to Brandon, not the other way around. I do the best I can, and I stop writing notes after about 20 minutes, truth be told. I look forward to hearing from the Oracle and the others on the "full patio."
Diana, thank you for yet another great recap, and a fun read!
Andrea and Olinka (the bad Olinka, not our Olinka :) are fully engaged in battle. I don't think Andrea ever knew just how hungry Olinka can be; Andrea was also never suited to run such a complicated scam, which started falling apart almost immediately. Makes a nice telenovela though.
Helena was looking quite hot today! Cklass and purple lace suit her!
I really didn't understand why Rocío told Brandon just then about Katya's being their sister, nor why Brandon told Katya.
I loved Viiyéri's “running late is my cardio” shirt! I would love to try this on my cardiologist, but the guy has no sense of humor whatsoever.
Melody was so cute riding that huge swan; she is in good hands with Mario and Gladys. Poor Sofía seems to have not yet hit bottom, bad as she is now.
For me, René is a bit of a mystery. I don't know even now whose side he is on. He's certainly not well disposed toward Tyler who has so changed René's life, much for the worse.
Rodrigo and Katya tell Viiyéri that she doesn't really have to go to Italy for inspiration for her creations. She might want to try to use the traditions and colors of Mexico to create something new and original. She is impressed with the idea. (It might be good for her romance with Brandon, too, but that wasn't mentioned.)
Andrea returns Tyler's loan that was pay off the loss the real estate agency suffered. Tyler said it wasn't necessary at this point; Andrea insisted.
I have some difficulty with Tyler and Andrea, neither one of them being open and honest. Yet. I do think that Tyler should have pushed a little more as Andrea kept tearing up and I think she might just have spilled the beans with a little more encouragement.
But it was just enough for Tyler to think that Andrea deserves a second chance, though Rodrigo disagrees.
Just what does Andrea have planned? What does Olinka have planned? What does René have planned?
I think we know what Katya has planned, she plans to sweat poor Chabela until she breaks and comes clean, and then she plans to rip her mother's heart out.
Katya's a bit upset.
:-)
Andy
FLASHBACK: Rodolfo was not pleased when Julia go pregnant. He had no confidence that Misael would rise to the occasion. Julia insisted that the baby would unite them "forever"
"We say forever without realizing it means our whole lives."
JULIA
-Julia continues to try to find out more from "sin filtros" who tells her that they have proof that Misael is innocent and alive but they cannot reveal that proof to her yet.
-Julia meets with Angel where they talk about the backpack. Why would Misael have put it there? Julia is sick of everyone blaming Misael for everything when they know nothing. She also agrees that the backpack should not go to the police. Julia tells him about Margarita's phone having disappeared in the accident but that somebody is reading the messages that Margarita's daughter sends her. Julia asks if they should not try to track Margarita's phone. Julia tells Angel that they can do their conferring on the phone from now on. He disagrees but offers to give her a lift home.
-Ester tells Julia that she tried to unlock the tablet but was unsuccessful. She will try again. She commences to attack Misael as the culprit in this all and Julia defends him as usual. Julia finds out that Celeste is pregnant.
-Chela tells Julia with her turn up at the "tanda" with the money they all contributed, Julia will be able to make a payment to that usurer Flavia.
ESTER
-Ester tells Angel that the backpack in his office belonged to the boy who died in the crash, her son. They both have reasons to find Misael. The tablet needs to be charged. Maybe there are clues on it. They agree that it would be better to keep the tablet rather than turn it over to the police and have them do nothing with it. Braulio comes in during the conversation and Angel tells him about finding the tablet in Misael's car.
-Ester tells Jero about the backpack. She knows that her son was worried that they couldn't afford his exchange program in the
USA. Eventhough she knows what a good person her son was, she is worried that as a young man, he might have felt pressured or obligated to do something wrong: like get involved with the stolen money. Jero says to stop thinking like that since there are no clues pointing her in that direction.
-Jero offers to store some of Ester's furniture and goods at Lerna's house so it will look like she moved out or is moving out. Flavia arrives shortly to try to see what is happening and when Ester will be out of there. She is also in need of the money she lent Ester for her new business.
-Jero moves in and busybody Flavia is right there trying to find out info about him. Ester listens in from one of the bedrooms. Jero thinks that they need to come up with an excuse for Ester being there once the furniture moving/sale excuse is over. Ester thinks that they can tell Flavia that he rented a room to her and that will be that. He is not so sure that will work.
-Max tells Flavia he is worried about Ester leaving without even saying goodbye. He is even more worried about what will happen to his son's ashes. Flavia is just happy Ester is out of their lives FOREVER.
CELESTE
-Celeste tells Rayo that she is not trying to take the place of her mother and would never do so. She only cares about Rayo's well-bing. Celeste's vision goes blurry and she tries to say she is dizzy from her pregnancy but Rayo is panicked and does not believe her. She overheard Braulio mention a trip to a neurologist. Celeste explains she is only a little bit ill but the doctor says it is nothing serious. The baby is just fine. Rayo hugs her and hopes that nothing bad happens to her or she would be more alone than she is now. Rayo apologizes for shouting at her. Celeste has been so good to her when things have been so hard. Celeste understands how quickly everything changed for her and adds that time heals all wounds. Also, with time she will understand more about her mother. Rayo wants to know if they are going to try to trace her mother's phone. Celeste doesn't think it is worth it but will ask Braulio.
-Time passes and Braulio seems to be just waiting to get Rayo out of there. He sees Mati with the group she hangs with and Flavia tells him what a bad group of delinquents it is. He even tries to pack her up and move her out early.
-SURPRISE: Celeste has a proposal for Braulio. The two weeks are almost up and Rayo has improved so much. She thinks they should adopt her. She prevents him from saying no but tells him to think about it.
-Mati keeps up the pressure on Rayo to come out. When Rayo cannot/doesn't want to socialize like before, Mati ends up cutting her off. Nobody says NO to Mati! She can get back into her good graces only if she does a "test by fire". She tells her it is going to be a challenge that has to do with Teo.
JERO
-Jero's relationship with his sons keeps improving. Ebe notices his father has looked little down lately but can understand with the situation with Donato and all. He encourages his father to get his act together and move on. His support makes Jero happy.
HOMERO
-Santino demands that Armando leave Homero all by himself and come to his office to see him NOW. Santino calls Mirna and tells her he needs to go immediately to the pharmacy to fill one of her father's prescriptions and cannot leave him alone. She agrees to come home or better yet pick up the prescription herself. She says she will leave immediately. Well, she decides she would rather spend the time with Ana Sofí. She conveniently "forgets"about her father.
-Armando goes to visit Santino who is not happy that he has not gotten any more info about Homero and the business. He tells him to work on Mirna. He will not take no for an answer. If Armando does not bring him the info he wants, jail is only a phone call away.
-In the meantime, Homero becomes totally disoriented and thinks that his house is the office. He calls Angel, who is with Julia, to complain. Angel knows something is wrong. When Armando does not answer, Angel goes with Julia go to see what is going on. They find Homero alone but now he is okay.He apologizes for having confused the house with the office. Angel says they need to see the doctor. Julia makes some veggie soup and fits right in. Homero loves her soup and the kiss on the cheek she gives him.
-Homero tells his son that if he feels like he is falling in love with Julia, which Angel says he does, he needs to choose her and cut it off with Ana Sofí. Angel says he cannot do that.
-Armando comes back with the prescription and explains to Angel that his father needed the medicine urgently but never gives Mirna up. Angel tells him that he cannot be in charge of his father anymore. Armando tells Mirna that Angel wants to fire him but he never ratted her out. Mirna sees Angel and takes the blame saying she "forgot" about the medicine when she was with Ana Sofí. That is why Armando had to go to get it. She begs her brother to not fire Armando so Angel doesn't. Angel cannot believe how irresponsible Mirna is. She is nothing like Julia who acted more like a daughter than she when she helped take care of her father that afternoon.
-Angel takes his father to the doctor who wants to run more tests since this seems to be a new condition. When Angel leaves the office to take a phone call, Homero ask the doctor to give him the bottom line. The doctor says it looks like he is suffering from senile dementia.
The FINAL STRAW
As Celeste, Julia and Ester are arguing in front of the apartment complex one more time, Flavia comes running out to a truck across the street. She is running to see her new FOOD TRUCK for her new business!!!! (really?)
"We think everything is forever but then life opens our eyes and transforms a 'forever' to a 'never more.'"
Please add anything else you remember. I am falling asleep on the couch. LOL
Some highlights to begin the discussion!
Fausto continues his coldness toward Isabella which does not go unnoticed by Dani. Dani and Isabella stargaze as he reads “Shape” magazine. After they argue (again), Dani and her nightie take off for Isabella’s room.
In a hideous flashback, we see a pregnant Dani ingesting a cool drink in which Karen has put pills, causing her to lose her baby! Is it good she sneers? Yes, delicious. In the present, we see her looking at pictures of Fausto and his “happy” family muttering that she is going to do away with them!!
Dani asks Fausto who is Isabella’s biological mother, but he refuses to divulge that or who her biological father is!
Cesar wants to get romantic with Ursula who appears interested initially but ends up giving him a “love nip” and leaves. Later, Cesar comes upon Memo and Ursula. He walks up, laughingly taunting Ursula as a confused Memo introduces himself. Ursula does a lot of fast talking. Later, we see them at the civil registry. I get the feeling Cesar is not going to give her a divorce.
In the best scene of the night, Amparo finds out Macario did get paid for a job but lied to her about it! She enters the restaurant determinedly, pulling Macario by the ear into the kitchen for a good lambasting! Later we see him muttering sweet nothings to someone on the phone, narrowly escaping Amparo. He then tells Amparo he was assaulted and robbed!! I can’t believe it, but Amparo did and even hugged him!! I am speechless.
Fausto tries to make a “date” with Karen as Aaron lurks in the hall. Later, we see her crawling in to Fausto on her belly to keep their date. He prefers being with her than keeping his promise to go to Isa’s school to talk about his job.
Dani and Memo are hard at work planting (they look so cute together!) They talk about Isa and Dani admits she was curious about her biological parents. She says that Isa’s biological mother died but she doesn’t know anything about her father. As she looks both serious and sad, Memo asks what would happen if the biological father showed up!
The speech at school goes splendidly! Memo swooped in and took Fausto’s place. The children are transfixed, and he has them in the palm of his hands as he tells his stories to the enchanted audience! They all scream “Memo” “Memo” as they crowd into the shiny red truck. Happy hugs from all the children. So much fun!! Isa rewards him with a wink and he winks back. Dani comments on his way with children and he explains it away saying he has nieces and nephews…
Ursula is telling Macario that Cesar demanded a million pesos for a divorce. He asks where she will get that much money. She wants Macario to convince Amparo to sell! And Ursula will work on Memo to agree too.
Eugenio’s party commences and he, Karen and Sebastian arrive. Karen sniffs and looks around disdainfully. Amparo introduces her husband (who Eugenio already met) as Chema flies in, cape flapping in the breeze. What a cutie! Sebastian asks about Lupita. Humberto also arrives. Memo and Ursula are already there. Seemingly out of the blue, Karen asks Memo what it’s like to work for her friend Daniela! And on that note, we end.
Diana
Andy, you were in your element.
"I loved Viiyéri's “running late is my cardio” shirt! I would love to try this on my cardiologist, but the guy has no sense of humor whatsoever" had me laughing out loud.
But oh my, "I think we know what Katya has planned, she plans to sweat poor Chabela until she breaks and comes clean, and then she plans to rip her mother's heart out" was insightful and one of your best. I fear it is true. Another reason for their sure to follow estrangement. But we are near the end so, hopefully, they will find a way to make up shortly.
A quick question. Aren't "our" Olinka and "bad" Olinka one and the same??? :)
I appreciate your kind words and support Andy.
I was going to do tomorrow's recap unless of couse anyone would prefer to do it - please just let me know.
Only four more to go!
Diana
Hola, Finca Friends!
Rgv Chick, I’m honored for the nice welcome and thanks to everyone for the kind words and encouragement.
Ya’ll really nailed tonight’s shenanigans. Here are a few extras, observations, and thoughts.
I liked picking up at the cat fight with Andrea being quite the aggressor/strangler and hardly a shrinking violet.
Isis (and the cosmos) laid out the redemption of Brandón/Blue Knit Cap. He will walk again and change positively.
“A few days” pass offscreen. Apparently Helena spent those 72 hours with some Miracle-Gro®️ and a flat iron. She bursts the glam meter and coolly tells Brandón his pops has fled after getting caught up in illegal schemes.
Brandón (fulfilling the prophecy) actually talks about meditating and studying when our favorite murciélaga goes all Maury Povich on him. She reveals Katya’s true paternity results. He will perform the same trick with Katya later in the episode.
During a conversation with Rodrigo, Viiyéri reveals she took the finca assignment “de volón pin pon! Translation: good and plenty fast (as she needed the money to pursue her dreams).
After a conversation with Nu-goddess Helena, Andrea wonders how the heck Helena put up with Gonzalo’s useless butt for so many years. I paraphrase. Can we say that?
Dra. Mónica Traven (fka Carmen Medina) shows up yet again! This time she wins Understatement of the Century after labeling Sofia as anxious and irritable. She urges Augie to get a second opinion as the Rx is not working fast enough.
Melody and Gladys added two hats to cart at Cloches-R-Us and both looked adorable.
Speaking of adorable, I really like Rod & Katy’s parting “concui.” Is that common?
Sofia, for reasons only known to Smirnoff, decides to pay homage to KISS and Tammy Faye Baker to welcome Melody for a visit. Thank goodness this does not happen. Not sure what her resolution will be, but we know Melody will be fine with Mario & Gladys (and don’t forget Killian!!!).
Tyler & Andrea played quite the game of truth poker with the latter on the verge of revealing the truth. I’m so happy they have Tyler being more atrevido and less Gomer Pyle.
Can’t wait for Katya’s summit with Chabelita.
O.S.
Jarifa, a thoughtful, insightful, and perfectly detailed recap.
"We think everything is forever but then life opens our eyes and transforms a 'forever' to a 'never more'" is so, so true.
The scenes with Homero were among my favorites. Smiling and lucid, he saw in a moment that Angel should be with Julia. That certainty is also dawning on Angel, but I don’t blame him for hesitating as the repercussions will be far reaching and many. Btw, was that a ginormous exhaust hood over the stove?? I have not seen anything like that before!
“…Braulio seems to be just waiting to get Rayo out of there” was exactly right. Celeste seems fairly intelligent. Still, whyever is she pushing for adoption knowing Braulio’s feelings? Rayo does care about Celeste, but she is not willing to follow the rules. Further, she won’t end the “friendship” with Mati who punishes her for not bowing down to her. Whatever is the “test by fire”? As it involves Teo, I’m shuddering and hoping Rayo comes to her senses before anything happens.
Armando was clever not to blame Mirna but to get her to “admit” her blame by being absent. I do pity Angel as Mirna is completely useless.
I felt for Jero leaving his home. I still think his sons were harsh and unforgiving although their initial iciness has thawed a bit. I look forward to Jero and Ester bonding and helping each other to heal.
I’m not so sure Misael is either alive or innocent. But for Julia’s sake, I hope she gets some sort of answer soon.
“Flavia is just happy Ester is out of their lives FOREVER”. She’s not as smart as I’ve credited her for if she thinks Maximo would ever turn his back on Ester who is the mother of their now deceased child. I have to give her credit though – she really amassed quite a fortune to buy that very new looking food truck.
Jarifa, you clarify so clearly and completely. This was exceptional. Thank you!
Diana
“Cloches-R-Us” indeed O.S.! I enjoyed all your comments as well as your quotes.
“Apparently Helena spent those 72 hours with some Miracle-Gro®️ and a flat iron. She bursts the glam meter…” had me nodding in vigorous agreement!
But my far and away favorite is “Sofia, for reasons only known to Smirnoff, decides to pay homage to KISS and Tammy Faye Baker to welcome Melody for a visit” which was beyond.
Our patio was on fire tonight. Everyone’s comments have been sizzling. Great fun!!
Diana
Wow! O.S., many thanks for your excellent and fun comments.
Diana, it was O.S. that I was referring to as "our Olinka" as I was not sure just how O.S. wanted to be referred to as. Definitely not a bad Olinka or bad anything else.
I suppose it is "O.S." then? And pronouns she/her, or---?
I am very glad you did not disappear on us, your comments are excellent and extremely enjoyable. As Diana said, "Our patio was on fire tonight."
Anyway, I'm certainly glad O.S. mentioned Killian, Melody's little "boyfriend" of sorts. It would be nice to see him again also. We definitely want to build up the happy, happy, happy, just in case Gonzalo's fate is a real bummer. Maybe a couple of others as well will get minor anvils, but we will see.
Diana, if you can't or don't want to do a recap just let me know and I will try to fill in. Otherwise I will stick to my usual lazy ways and let you do the heavy lifting :-)
I think we now have a very, very decent and lively patio to see this novela come to a hopefully and probably satisfactory conclusion.
Andy
Diana, I found the narrator quotes about “forever” especially interesting. They really hit the mark. I wonder about Flavia. Is she just an Ester wannabe? A copycat? She took Ester’s cast-off ex Max. She had ONE child like Ester. She is now going to have the business that Ester wanted. What is her story beside being just a nasty person? As for Celeste, I, like you, do not get her pushing Braulio towards adoption especially after him trying to pack her up and send her off earlier if possible. We have several characters who “do not read the room” very well.
Also, Gina was not pleased that Erik was still in communication with his ex. That could be/probably will be an interesting relationship!
Thank you Diana for your notes to get the conversation started! You covered all the high and low lights!!
I have been done with Karen since day 1 but knowing she provoked her ‘best friend’s’ miscarriages??? That is beyond appalling!!! Karen makes absolutely no sense! There are no likable qualities about Falso, none, zero, zip……he is a total slime ball who treats everyone like crap, he is a greedy jackass who only cares about money and she KNOWS this! He is not the most handsome guy in the room, he might eventually have money if he wrangles the inheritance but Karen doesn’t even care about that she wants him to abandon that because SHE has money! So what does she need/want Falso for??? I can’t see her motivation for being desperate to keep this good for nothing waste of space. I would say he must be really good in bed but he’s not the only buen amante in the world! She is beautiful and rich so surely she could replace him easily! Why does she want him? And want him so desperately??? She can’t possibly love him, he doesn’t even try to disguise what a horrible person he is when he’s around her. I am baffled and appalled!!!
Memo with the kids was adorable!!!
Thanks, Jarifa, for the excellent recap. I don’t realize how much I miss until I read your recaps and get filled in.
I didn’t realize Flavia thinks she’ll be rid of Ester forever! Having been married and shared the loss of their son I think they’ll always be connected. And her buying a food truck was just really low. It was their dream, not hers and now she’s gloating. What does Max see in her.
I also loved the scenes with Julie and Homero. Ángel is seeing how a caring woman acts. Which he doesn’t see in Ana Sofia or Mirna. It must be a real eye opener for him.
I can’t wait to see Flavia’s reaction when Ester rents a room in the apartment!
I always know the narrator is saying something profound at the beginning and end but it’s usually over my head, or my knowledge of Spanish. So great to read what was said.
Liz
Andy, oh dear. I thought the comment regarding Olinka was on the character herself not "our" O.S. who is very good and who has been a marvelous addition. Perhaps I have a case of "telenovelaitis". So sorry!
I am anxious for some happiness although I'm not certain HEA will be the final destination for all!!
Andy, thank you for the offer to step in. I will do today's recap and perhaps plow on through til the end. The patio has substantial work to fill in all that I miss and fix what I get wrong.
Looking forward to see what happens today!
Diana
"I wonder about Flavia. Is she just an Ester wannabe? A copycat?" Jarifa, you nailed that for just the reasons you noted.
But try as she might, at her core, she is self centered and utterly selfish. She cannot have friends as she does not know how to be one.
What surprises me is that Max was attracted to her and moreover, stays with her. She does act affectionate to him and to Teo but her other relationships seem tainted with jealousy and a desire to "one up" everyone. She tries always to be a step ahead.
Erik is a great guy and seems like a good fit for Gina. IF the shadows of the past stay there! :)
Diana
Jarifa, thank you so much for all the details as this take spins and twists forward.
You are so right that Angel is noticing the difference between Julia and shallow and shallower Michael and Anacandy.
Grinning Flavia is so annoying as she sits her bells and flaunts her control over everything and everyone . I can't wait to see her reaction when she finds out Esther and Jer have played her. Ha . I think you are right that she seems to be copycatting Esther. Good call.
Must dash. More later.
Chick, thank you for every detail .
Gabe is scruffy and adorable in this show . His scenes with Isa are heartwarming .
In contrast, Fausto is a cold, unfeeling fish.
Can't believe that Karen caused Dani 's miscarriage . She is not above trying to get rid of Dani and Isa. Yikes
Ursula, Macario, and Cesar are a sleazy trio.
Darcy, like you, I am baffled by Karen's obsession with Fausto. None of it makes the slightest bit of sense.
Two toxic individuals, inexplicably drawn together. At least Fausto attempts to turn on his "lizard" charm. Karen has not the slightest bit of charisma.
Memo shone with the children. Isabella and Chema make me smile as do all of the scenes with Isa and Dani and Isa and Memo. I'm enjoying every moment of this (save Karen and Fausto) :)
Diana
Flavia was absolutely giddy as she brushed past Esther, Julia, Celeste, and Rayo and joyfully ran to her new " food truck." This woman delights in showing off as others struggle.
Just before that final scene, the 3 friends got a look at Rayo with Mati.Come on , ladies, help Rayo .
Celeste was quite firm with Braulio about adopting Rayo.
Why is Braulio giving Esther the stink eye every time he runs into her ? He is surely involved in this mystery somehow. Is be involved with Santino? He seems to be pushing Angel toward him. The more I see this guy , the more I dislike him. Will we learn more about Celeste's brother ? Did Braulio cause the rift between them? Braulio is jealous of anyone who tries to get close to Celeste.
Thank you SpanProf!
Your razor sharp insight shone throughout your comment, particularly with: "Isis's incursion into the spectral plane seem to show that Gonzalo is neither dead nor alive. Perhaps in a coma due to his burn injuries?" That would make perfect sense! I sense Gonzalo's fate will be one of the last minute big reveals.
Vilyeri does have true talent and I will be happy if she stays where she is. I just don't want her too far from Boni and Isis who are the best of the best.
Diana
"Gabe is scruffy and adorable in this show . His scenes with Isa are heartwarming".
I couldn't agree more Susanlynn!
There is a contingent of sleaziness here, that's for sure. But, I'm happy there is so much good and goodness to counteract it!
Diana
Diana, your notes to startoffthe conversation were a delight...thank you!
Darcy, ITA about Karen...not worth my time!
Ssanlynn, I'd like to take credit, but Diana gave us the jumpstart for last night's episode. But I do agree about Gabe...Ihave never seen him looing so SCRUFFY! It's distracting at time...especially the hair!
Diana, "Memo shone with the children." Did he ever!! And I'm with you on how enjoyable it is to watch all the "goodies and cuties." The bad and evil are useless and a waste of air time.
I'll try to put something together for tonight.
Thank you, Diana, you may have just wanted to get the conversation started but you gave a great recap of the episode!
I loved that Memo went to the school and was a big hit with the kids! And Isabela wanted him to come. Fausto said something about it, I think. Something snobbish! Since Fausto no longer likes his daughter I’m not sure why he cares if Memo is there for her.
Darcy, I wonder if Karen wants Fausto because he wanted Dani at some point in the past! And Dani got him. I wonder more what Dani sees in her husband. I also wonder what Fausto’s reaction will be if he ever discovers that Karen killed his chances for fatherhood. Those two deserve each other, no redeeming qualities in either one.
I really like Eugenio, I think it’s great that he’s having his party there. Karen and Fausto will probably be the only ones that won’t fit in. Although Ursula, Macario and Cesar are all cringeworthy!
I also found it hard to believe that Amaro actually believed Macario. But now she wants someone with him all the time. His little sweetie, whoever she is, might get impatient for him.
Liz
RgvChick, thank you so much! Yes, Isabella is so angelic, she lights up the screen with her sweetness. I smile and sigh at all of her lovely interactions with Dani and Memo. Some are just meant to be parents - Dani and Memo fit that bill perfectly!!
Thank you for your very kind words Liz. I always enjoy your comments and today, they are all fantastic. "I also found it hard to believe that Amaro actually believed Macario. But now she wants someone with him all the time. His little sweetie, whoever she is, might get impatient for him" sounds exactly right! Hmmmm. I have the feeling it isn't someone we have already met but look forward as to who it is!
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa. You certainly deserve to nap on the couch after crafting a superb recap.
Armando is a reluctant spy. Maybe there’s hope he’ll confess to Angel.
Flavia starts a food truck business? Maybe she's an excellent cook, but I can see her treating customers like crap.
Liz, it seems that they try to give each episode a theme of sort with the narrator ,who is always one of the characters, commenting at the beginning and end. Some of them are exceptional like the one last night. They have done this with all of the "Vencer" novelas I have seen. It will be very interesting when nosy Flavia sees Ester living at the apartment. I wonder if they will try the "Ester is renting a room." excuse. I hope it happens soon.
Susanlynn, all we know is that Braulio pointed out some defects in Celeste's brother's character so, I guess he was responsible for the riff to a certain degree. Celeste was so grateful to Braulio. I hope we find out what Braulio was so critical of. Great point about the stink-eye he always has for Ester. ITA the the more we see of Braulio the more suspicious he seems. He always seems to be lurking in the background conveniently gathering info.
Niecie, "reluctant spy" is great description for Armando. I wonder what Santino has on him that he can send him to jail anytime he wants. Enquiring minds . . .
Diana, thank you for the recap, amiga. You have us all the ups and downs, the sweet and the sour. So far this has been a good ride .
It's always interesting to see what the wardrobe department selects the characters ' clothes to reflect their personalities. Dani has a kind of uniform ...a blazer, a tee, and loose trousers all in solid colors. It is a very casual , relaxed look as opposed to Karen's skintight , short cocktail dresses .
Ampara hides her light under an apron .
I have no words to describe tattooed Ursula 's style . Wow, those are short shorts.
Leo loves his hat. I don't think we have seen him without it.
Do you have " a look?"
I wasn’t prepared for what just transpired. I’m a bit in shock as I’m sure everyone is…So much happened, and there was quite a bit of dialog I missed and things I didn’t understand (all the money business) but I did the best I could. I look forward to everyone’s comments.
We begin where we left off with Katya, eyes moist with tears, asking who her father is. She stands up and moves to within a few inches of Chabela’s face, grabbing her by the shoulders, begging her for the truth. When she goes to leave, utterly distraught, Chabela tearfully admits it is Gonzalo. Chabela walks over but Katya will not allow her to comfort her. Chabela dissolves into tears and leaves, both collapsing on the side of their respective doors.
Olinka sends Rene besos on the phone along with some other poison, I’m sure.
Katya goes immediately to Andrea. You are a mentirosa Katya accuses, pointing her finger at Andrea! Andrea can’t get a word in as Katya goes crazy. Bravo, muy bien she taunts her. Andrea tries to stroke her face as Katya says she knows Gonzalo is her father and he is not a good person (no kidding). She told her she found out from Brandon through Rocio. Andrea’s tears are in vain. Mother and daughter kneel on the floor in emotional agony, Katya vowing she is done with her and then leaves. Katya runs into Rodrigo as she throws her bag in her car. What is it he asks, his face mirroring his concern. She mutters it’s her father as he tries to calm her down. She wants to be alone, but he wisely guides her toward a car.
Brandon, Rocio and Helena discuss the situation. Gonzalo being Katya’s father was a long held secret, Helena says. But Helena has even more painful, hurtful news to impart to her children. Gonzalo was in league with Malacara and was responsible for the helicopter crash! He was after Tyler’s money. They are heartbroken and incredulous.
Mario tends to Sofia’s injured face. She is teary but Mario is very kind and understanding with her.
Rene removes the camera near the safe. Tyler surprises him outside the door, startling him. They exchange “primos” as Tyler mutters, looking after him suspiciously. Mario and Tyler have coffee when Gladys and her “cloche” (thanks O.S.) arrive.
Tyler has brought Katya to an overpass (not really sure that’s a good idea but.) She tells him Gonzalo is her father, but he is not Tyler’s brother. She spills about the family but of course Tyler knows all about that. Tyler tells her something (important I gather), but I didn’t get it. He asks about Rene and Andrea and if Gonzalo was their accomplice. He tells Katya she is a bystander and not an accomplice. She catches a break, deserved or not. I love you very much he affirms. They hug. Rodrigo calls Tyler and we see Katya come out of the shower looking refreshed and a bit less upset. She sits on the bed, and they exchange a chaste kiss. He wants her to rest, and he shuts out the lights before he leaves.
Chabela and Andrea are beside themselves. There was so much crying it was hard to try and understand much of what was said. There was something about Olinka and money.
Andrea and Tyler had a quick exchange (?)
Diana
OMG, Rene is handcuffed to the bed laden with streamers for a festive effect. A few kisses from a trench coat clad Olinka who a few seconds earlier, had been ransacking his drawers. Just to be clear, the drawers in the dresser. She finds the tape of Andrea opening the safe under the mattress. She lights up saying she loves him as she sends a bye bye kiss his way, taking her bag and tape as she leaves. Rene of course is screaming her name as he rattles his own chains, powerless to do a darn thing about it!
Andrea is frantically and fruitlessly searching for her gun which of course Gonzalo took. Chabela is praying when Andrea comes in, Olinka lurking in the doorway. Andrea has the suitcase of cash. Chabela wants to go with her, but Andrea says no as the two tearfully hug. Andrea takes her purses and suitcase and leaves. She runs and as her car isn’t there, she takes another car and drives off.
At the rehab center, a fresh faced and sober Sofia says goodbye to Melody as Augustin glares in the background. It will be fine Mario assures her. She is even civil to Gladys. She hugs Augustin and it is a very sad but a bit hopeful moment. She walks forward with a wave to Melody who blows her a kiss.
Katya wakes up to a call from Rodrigo. Good morning my love he effuses. A single yellow rose lies next to her. Katya is charmed.
Andrea is driving in tears, a suitcase of cash in the seat next to her. She picks up her phone and hits the “transfer” button. Is she returning the money to Tyler or stealing it? I’m unclear.
Tyler asks Rodrigo about his bio mother. Tyler gets the notification about the transfer of the foundation money. They discuss.
Andrea flashes back to her and Katya in happier moments and also scenes of her and Tyler. All of a sudden, there is a gun at her temple and a vicious voice saying “surprise darling”. Olinka! She tells Andrea to be quiet and pull off the road which Andrea does. She has her get out of the car, hands up. My heart sinks as Olinka walks her back a bit, pointing the gun at her calling her an imbecile. Andrea tries to run and Olinka fires at the ground. Feigning courage she doesn’t possess but trying to put up a brave front, Andrea screams “Vamos”. Not inclined to do so, Olinka aims and shoots Andrea in cold blood. Not once. But twice! She laughs like a madwoman and gets in the car. The camera pans back and we see an aerial shot of Andrea, prostrate, as blood gushes from her multiple gunshot wounds.
Diana
Diana, thanks for a fun rundown of the highs and lows. Love this choice snark: Later, we see her [Karen] crawling in to Fausto on her belly to keep their date.
I've felt a little sorry for Ursula, but now that she's joining in with Macario to get Amparo to sell I am so done with her.
Fausto is way too cold to excite the kids like Memo did. Sad, but I hope Isa starts shutting Fausto out in the same way he's shutting her out. Who needs him when she has Memo.
Hate to admit it, but Macario was good with Chemo when he ran out in his cape.
Diana, thank you for your great recap! I find it amazing that you can do this so fast. There is absolutely no way I could keep up as you do, I would be writing or typing notes from the opening scene, still, at the half-way mark of the episode and totally confused at that point, having no idea what had happened after that first scene.
I did have the TV on and saw bits and pieces, enough so that I saw poor Andrea's demise, sob, sob.
But what I really want to say is 'thank you' for the best comment from this novela yet, "Rene is handcuffed to the bed laden with streamers for a festive effect. A few kisses from a trench coat clad Olinka who a few seconds earlier, had been ransacking his drawers. Just to be clear, the drawers in the dresser."
Absolutely love it! You can probably expect to see this quoted here and there.
I'll have a chance to watch the show a little later to find out what mischief Andrea was in today and how she wound up, um, sort of dead. RIP, QEPD, etc., etc.
:-)
Andy
Susanlynn, thank you! I was thinking someone in the wardrobe department doesn't like Susana as her outfits and especially color combinations are bland and unimpressive overall. Ursu's tats look so real but I have to believe they are temporary but only as I doubt she wants to sport memo the rest of her life. :)
Niecie, I appreciate your kind comment. I can't imagine what Fausto would have nattered on about? I can't see him saying anything the children would have found the least bit interesting! Great point that Macario was good with Chema, and am wondering if he does have a soft spot for his youngest. The kid is totally adorable!
Diana
Andy, you were too kind. Not understanding the majority of what is said simply means I can type up what I see rather than having to worry about that pesky dialog!
Andy, I had a feeling you would like the drawer comment! You have the same sense of humor that I do. I have to admit I laughed myself!
Do I think Andrea is dead? No, I do not. There is too much unsettled business. And to die by Olinka's hand would be a tragedy. So, I hope I'm not eating my words tomorrow.
Diana
Gracias, amigas, for your great recaps. I could not catch up until today.
Every flashback I have seen of Misael implies that he was not actually thinking of anything long-term with Julia. He was not happy when she told him she was pregnant. She failed to face that. Had the baby been a girl he would have been out the door, which would have been better for her.
Flavia thinks she has played Ester, so I can't wait to see her reaction when she sees she's wrong.
Rayo is a typical teen in a bad situation. She is likely to be catching on that Mati is no good and doesn't know what to do. However, now that Flavia has seen her with Mati and her minions she will make life very difficult for her.
I also see her treating customers like crap, so maybe she will hire others to actually wait on and serve them. She has a face like a sour lemon.
Finally, I hope Ana Sofie leaves as capriciously as she invaded Angel's flat. She may be playing him as part of her dad's plan, but spoiled brats stop being amusing after a very short while. Her pretense at the occasional English phrase is contradicted by her slutwear.
Great work on the recaps, amigas. It also looks like the actors are giving it their all.
I also agree that Karen's thing for Fausto makes no sense at all, but I am guessing that she just doesn't like to lose any game of one-upwomanship she can play. I guess being rich and beautiful isn't enough for some. I wish I could have found out.
It definitely was unfortunate that Isabella found out about being adopted in this way. Do adopted children really get bullied over that? Is it routine in Mexico to keep that from kids?
Memo definitely handled that situation perfectly and will make a great father.
Totally agree about the sleazebags in this one. All are cringe-worthy. BTW, Cesar is played by Alfredo Gatica, nephew of Luis.
Urban, I was glad to see your post...
Completely agree thqt Memo will be a wonderful dad.
One of the many reasons I wanted to watch this was Alfredo. He's a great actor as is Luis, who I've always had a bit of a crush on. Alfredo is definitely lead galan material but he keeps getting cast as a villain. Although, he likely gets more work that way.
Diana
WEST COAST EDITION
This is not a full recap.
Katya wants the truth, but Chabela hesitates Reluctantly she then shares with Katya that Gonzalo is in fact her father. They sob and sob. Katya's initial reaction is that of denial.
Katya confronts Andrea about who her real father is, and they have a heated exchange. Andrea says she deceived her to protect her from the truth. Whatever, lady.
Mario wipes the clown makeup off Sofia's face outside the psychiatric hospital. Everyone seems accepting of their new roles except Sofia. You know, Agustin, Mario, Gladys, and most importantly Melody, sweet Melody.
Helena breaks the news to Brandon and Rocio that Gonzalo was behind the helicopter crash along with Malacara.
Katya says to Rodrigo that she wants to disappear from the finca after learning the truth of her father. He says not to. She then informs him that Gonzalo is her true father They take the Minicooper with Rodrigo driving to Rodrigo's hotel room. (Mind you he has only gentlemanly intentions)
Olinka has Rene handcuffed to the bed. She was looking for something (maybe the camera pen?) but when Rene wakes up, she pretends that she was just being seductive. Then she leaves the scene with Rene handcuffed.
Oh the tangles web that we weave...
And that's your West Coast partial recap.
Great West Coast Edition Jan!
"Katya confronts Andrea about who her real father is, and they have a heated exchange. Andrea says she deceived her to protect her from the truth. Whatever, lady" is right!
The truth always comes out doesn't it? Sometimes much later rather than sooner but.... The energy Andrea has (fruitlessly) expended to keep Katya from finding out would have been better spent elsewhere.
And I smiled at your comment on Rodrigo "(Mind you he has only gentlemanly intentions)" which is very true.
Diana
Notes from the couch . . . aka just the facts "edition" . . .
-Ester and Julia are critical of Flavia founding a business on their tragedy while Celeste agrees that Flavia can do what she likes with her money. They continue to argue among themselves. It is the same old same old. (It is hard to believe that these women were ver really friends)
-Rayo is upset that the "friends" cannot get together and try to trace her mother's phone.
-Homero finds out that he has Lewy body dementia. He tells the doctor that he doesn't want to live. Homero tells his family about his diagnosis and that he doesn't want a second opinion. He is done with doctors. Ana Sofí loses points with Angel when she suggests that they put Homero in a nursing home now so he can be with the other little old people and do what little old people do. (Ana Sofí has to be basically stupid)
-Lerna is suddenly feeling sorry for Jero but is wondering what is up with him storing that woman's stuff.
-Armando calls Santino to tell him about Homero's diagnosis.
-Armando and Mirna almost kiss.
-Max stops by to introduce himself to Jero. While he is there, Ester lets herself in. She says she has keys because Jero lent them to her so she could continue to move her stuff out. All Max is concerned about is what she has done with Iván's ashes. She says when she decides what she is going to do with them, she will let him know. It turns out that she is playing hardball because he never was around when Iván was alive. (Ester is good at twisting the knife)
-Jero warns Ester that sooner or later people are going to figure out that they are living together. They decide that they do not explanations to anyone. (about time)
-Auntie Chepita is having the time her life on the dating app. (good for her)
-Danny is being a brat throwing tantrums at home and fighting with kids at school. Julia goes to talk to the teacher. It turns out that the teacher sent a report about his fighting home with Rodolfo before but he never showed it to her. Danny is desperate for his father to come back. Julia finds out that his real anger comes from the fact that he has seen his father, but he doesn't respond to him. He just leaves. (so, Misael is closer than anyone thinks)
-Ester contacted somebody at her old job who gave her the name of a guy who can unlock Iván's tablet. Jero asks her if she is ready to see what is on the tablet considering that she will be invading her son's privacy. Ester insists she has to find out what happened. (Jero made a good point considering a boy of Ivan's age)
-Celeste asks Braulio if he can trace Margarita's phone. He says he has been working on it already but he cannot promise anytihg will come of it. Celeste uses that incident to prove to Rayo that Braulio does indeed care about her. (sure)
-Celeste tells Rayo she wants to adopt her. Rayo is happy but is worried that Braulio will not agree. Celeste thinks it could all be so wonderful. (sure could be if Braulio wasn't her hubby)
-Erik complains he hasn't seen Gina for a while. Ariel tells him he first needs to get over his ex already. Erik tells Ariel that he likes Gina but doesn't know if he is ready to start a new relationship. Rodolfo comes by for a visit. Erik asks him about Gina. Rodolfo warns him not to go playing the flirt with her. (good for Rodolfo)
-Gina wonders what Ana Sofí has that she doesn't. She decides to enter a sweepstake with Ana Sofí. The prize is to spend a day with Ana Sofí where she will share her secrets of her success as an influencer. (really?)
-In the morning, Ester and Jero throw caution to the wind and leave for work together. Flavia sees them.
-Ester tells Angel she has a guy lined up to unlock the tablet. Braulio overhears the conversation. (hmmmm )
-Angel meets with Braulio. He has too much on his plate now with his father's diagnosis and the payment on the loan from Zac coming due. Then there is a major account he is worried about losing. Braulio says he can delegate things to him to handle.
-It looks like Rayo will not have much of a quinceañera (celebration of her 15th birthday) due to money problems in Celeste's household as well as the other friends' households. Rayo is worried that that same lack of money may prevent Celeste from adopting her with a baby on the way. Celeste tells her not to worry. She is hopeful for the future.
-Rayo has distanced herself from Mati, has not fallen for her emotional blackmail and has told her she is still thinking about the challenge. ( I didn't think Rayo had it in her)
-Zac arrives at the office to see Angel immediately about repayment of the loan. He tells Ester that he hopes Angel isn't running and hiding form him as people who owe money usually do. She asks if he has some document so she can get out the file. Zac says he doesn't need any document for his business. He takes a seat and will wait for Angel. (okay)
-Jero notices that Ebe is not at the university with his friends and he has a big exam to take. He calls Ebe who has overslept. Jero sees his prof and tries to explain the situation. He wants to make sure that Ebe doesn't lose the chance to take the exam. The prof doesn't care who he is, reminds him that his son is supposed to be a responsible adult and is clear that he doesn't give second chances. He goes to walk away and Jero pushes him back and starts lecturing him on the unfair way he is treating his son. Ebe arrives and pulls Jero off the prof. The prof goes to leave again and Jero lunges towards him but Ebe pulls him back. He tells Jero to leave them alone as he goes after the prof to plead his own case. Jero is called to the HR office. He is fired. (as he should have been) (a reality check for Jero)
The episode starts out with saying that parents would do anything to make their children happy and ends with saying that sometimes parents may do what they think is best for their children but in the end what they do isn't good for anything.
I think that is it for me. Please feel free to add anything I left out. Sorry for any typos.
Ursula, who is wearing a pretty nice dress, whisks Memo away after Karen asks what it’s like to work with her friend, Daniela.
Gaby and Lupita enter the restaurant and Sebas’s eye’s open wide. He hobbles over to Lupita and tells her that after seeing her, he feels no pain.
Mac continues to complain about Eugenio having his party there. ( Get over it, dude!)
Dani, Isa, and Fausto arrive. Ursula’s green eyed monster comes out when Memo goes to greet them.
Isa tells Memo that she did talk to her parents and she knows she is very fortunate. She has a the best mom in the world, a papa that loves her, and she is very happy because she has Memo too! Fausto takes note of Isa hugging Memo.
JuanPa wants a kiss but Gaby hasn’t told her parents about their noviasgo.
Fausto mentions wanting to buy the property but Memo doesn’t want to talk business. Fausto then tells Memo that he heard what he did at his daughter’s school and tells Memo not to do anything like that again!
Chuchita is helping Amparo in the kitchen and Leo casually enters wanting to help.
JuanPa isn’t too happy that Gaby hasn’t told her parents about them; he doesn’t want to be with her if they have to hide. (Good guy!)
Max marks his territory telling Eugenio that he is lucky to have a woman like Amparo.
Karen knows that Fausto cares nothing about his wife and daughter. She makes it clear that she wants Fausto all to herself.
Leo invites Chuchita out but she tells him she likes his hunky brother, Memo! Leo tells her Memo is taken…he’s getting married.
Uh-oh!! Memo sees Fausto and Karen locking lips!! And he is about to take a pic, he hears Chema and Isa! Did he take the pic????
Memo catches Fausto checking out the place. Fausto tries to convince Memo that they should sell…someday they will concede. Memo makes it clear that the answer is still “No!”
Everyone sings “Happy Birthday!” to Eugenio. Ursula takes advantage and announces that she and Memo will marry in a month.
Fausto is a jackass once more. He yells at Isa when she shows him her arms with drawings. Memo cocks his head in disapproval…(I was surprised his neck didn’t pop!)
Dani is complimenting Amparo on her house when Isa sees Amparo’s family picture and asks if the little girl is her. Amparo tells them it’s Gaby when she was 6 years old. Dani agrees that they look very much alike.
JuanPa, the gentleman, asks Amparo’s permission to be Gaby’s novio. Amparo doesn’t respond but, when alone, hopes that JuanPa is a good choice for Gaby.
Dani finds her way into Memo’s apartment; and Memo catches her looking at his family pic. They’re having one of those special looks when Ursula interrupts asking what the woman is doing there! She accuses Dani of having feelings for Memo!
After Ursula demands that Dani get out, Memo chides Ursula for talking to Dani that way. They argue about Ursula’s jealousy and Memo leaves after telling Ursula that their conversation is not over.
Memo apologizes to Dani who tells him not to worry. He then goes back to look for Ursula but she is nowhere to be found. Ursula only left a note telling Memo that he can stay with the lizard…his boss!
Eugenio thanks Amparo for everything…it was one of the best birthdays he has ever had. When he walks away, Amparo actually looks smitten!!
Ha! Ursula went to take out her anger (and frustration) on Cesar…she covers him in kisses. Cesar knows she is jealous and tells her she need to control herself. But he doesn’t stop her when she still wants to use him to let out her anger.
Leo defends Ursula’s jealousy and advises Memo to tell Ursula about Isa. Memo still refuses.
Next day, Dani helps Isa prepare to go to school. Later, Dani is with Memo who once again apologizes for Ursula’s reaction. As Dani tells Memo that she understands Ursula’s reaction, Ursula shows up and overhears…and apologizes to Dani.
For the umpteeth time, Fausto stresses (to Karen) why he has to be with Dani and Isa…and Karen tells him she wants him all to herself. She is tired of waiting!! Fausto tells her she’s behaving like so many other women who act so liberal…but carry a wedding dress in the trunk of their car!
Oh foo-ey, Ursula and Memo make-up. Meh!
Pay back time, Fausto! Karen asks Aaron out to dinner.
After Dani drives off, Isa comes out and is disappointed because she forgot to tell her mommy that she needs to rehearse for a play. Memo offers to help. Really cute to watch him helping her!! And as he carries her around, Fausto watches them through the security camera!!
Rgv Chick, your recap was excellent and mirrored all of the very emotional events beautifully.
“For the umpteenth time, Fausto stresses (to Karen) why he has to be with Dani and Isa…and Karen tells him she wants him all to herself. She is tired of waiting!! Fausto tells her she’s behaving like so many other women who act so liberal…but carry a wedding dress in the trunk of their car!” had me laughing out loud and was my favorite of many. Fausto is SUCH a jacka**!
Much posturing and puffing of chests tonight wasn’t there? When Fausto lied through his teeth telling Memo Isa was his, Memo balled up his fists but sadly, instead of pummeling Fausto to the ground, hit himself (albeit gently) on the chin. I thought he was going to go for Fausto’s jugular after he yelled at Isa about the drawings. Memo has no fear and now, no illusions that Fausto does not love Dani.
I believe Memo did take a quick video (or at least a picture) of Karen and Fausto kissing.
Feeling the earth move beneath her, Ursu moved up the wedding date. But later, after walking in on Memo and Dani, she could not deny what her eyes told her. Memo and Dani’s attraction is palpable and powerful. Not surprised she went back to Cesar. I think it’s a safe bet her reconciliation with Memo is very temporary.
I saw a little bit of meaningful flirting between Eugenio and Amparo. I think Macario did as well!
There was a definite change in Memo’s hair – less brassy, no two tone and a nice, uniform medium brown.
Cameras throughout Fausto’s house shouldn’t have been a surprise, and yet…
I was surprised Chuchita is interested in Memo! Poor Leo! Sebas and Lupita are sweet as are Juanpa and Gabby.
Like you, I loved watching Memo fly Isa high above his head, his pure joy, delighting in his daughter, precious, special moments.
Just grand Rgv Chick – thank you!
Diana
Jarifa, another engrossing episode which you captured marvelously. “Celeste thinks it could all be so wonderful. (sure could be if Braulio wasn't her hubby)” had me smiling away.
The biggest surprise to me was that Danny actually saw Misael, who is obviously lurking nearby. I wonder when he will show himself, he has a lot to explain and answer for.
I was also surprised Rayo seems to be keeping Mati at bay although I fear that won’t last long. When Braulio took leave of Celeste and Rayo, after kissing Celeste, he hesitated and for a brief instant, I wondered if he might make some sort of gesture toward Rayo (a hug perhaps?) The awkward moment seemed to vanish in an instant.
Jero is still a bit too quick to anger and in losing his job has paid a high price.
“Ana Sofí loses points with Angel when she suggests that they put Homero in a nursing home now so he can be with the other little old people and do what little old people do. (Ana Sofí has to be basically stupid)” was insightful and perfect.
Armando and Mirna deserve each other!
“(Ester is good at twisting the knife)” is so true. She clearly inherited a bit of her mother’s rigidity
More Eric and Gina and let’s see Chepita on a date. I’m sure it will be great fun.
Wonderful Jarifa! Thank you, thank you.
Diana
Good grief! What a tearjerker! Right from the start of this episode with Katya and Chabela, and both of them crying nonstop. I almost cried myself.
I think even Srta CC was crying, I kept reading [solloza], [solloza], [llora], [llora], [llora], [llora], [continúa llorando], [Chabela llora], [lloran], [llora], etc, etc. Sobs and crying.
I felt even worse for poor Chabela than for Katya. Chabela was all torn up over this, and then Katya refused her an embrace.
I fail to see why Andrea had to hide the identity of Katya's father with such ferocity.
And of course Rodrigo only had only gentlemanly intentions regarding Katya as Jan told us.
Rodrigo is in luv, El You Vee! He just wants her to get over her depression and fury.
Sofía got packed up and sent off to the sanatorium. Hey, today's telenovela medicine and counseling are way beyond how things were in the bad old days. You watch, she'll be all better in a day or two, or by Monday at the latest.
Well, Andrea told Chabela that she had a plan, tomorrow we should see if getting shot was part of the plan.
And where in the world is Gonzalo?
Andy
Andy, you actually had me laughing with "I think even Srta CC was crying, I kept reading [solloza], [solloza], [llora], [llora], [llora], [llora], [continúa llorando], [Chabela llora], [lloran], [llora], etc, etc." Too, too funny!
I am hoping for a lightening fast "cure" for Sofia so "...she'll be all better in a day or two, or by Monday at the latest". This would mean a happy ending for Gladys, Melody, Mario, their new baby and if not completely happy, at the very least, a somewhat peaceful Sofia. And of course, successful coparenting between Mario and Sofia.
Diana
So, blogger has now eaten three comments I tried to post. I had cut and pasted from your comment above Andy but I have no idea what the issue is.
Therefore, I will simply say that I enjoyed your comments, on Srta CC especially Andy.
Thank you!
Diana
The official title of this episode is “Di tus últimas palabras,” and we’ll get to that later. It should have been called “So You Think You Can Ugly Cry” or “Things O.S. Really Didn’t See Coming.”
Alternate Episode Titles are still a work in progress.
Katya really read Andrea the Riot Act. 19 years of lies. Having Gonzalo at the finca the whole time. Her own siblings did what her mom could never do (reveal the truth). OUCH.
The scene with Rodrigo and Katya on the hillside was odd (from a technical standpoint). The lighting and the camera angles were strange - almost as if this were re-shot and thrown in during post-production. Disclaimer: I may geek out at technical observations. It’s a curse.
During Ugly Cry Bout 7.9 Andrea told Chabela she had a plan and Chabela is to help her. Foreshadowing much?
Good writing: Rodrigo told Katya she’s a victim of Andrea as well. As family is wont to do, Katya defends her mother (despite being furious). When Rod says Tyler is in love with Andrea, Katya says it’s because he doesn’t KNOW her. Rod’s point is made right there.
We’ve seen Rod & Tyler bro out in recent episodes. Tyler asks Rod (via phone) to take care of Katya (at the hotel) showing genuine concern. What I found interesting was before Rod hung up with Tyler he said, “Abrazo.” How sweet. Team Bromance.
Back to the Cry-a-Thon: Andrea and Chabela say/cry their good-byes. If Kleenex®️ were smart, they’d look into product placement during scenes like these.
As mentioned Sofía gets dropped off at some Beatríz Ford facility and everyone is present. The takeaway here is that Melody is going to a new school, and it’s a crushing blow for Team Killian. Despite these slim odds, hope still springs eternal.
Despite the bromance, Rod pleads with Tyler to open his eyes and move forward with the plan.Tyler laments the reality (familia falsa) and says he will report the embezzlement.
The final sequence with Olinla and Andrea really shocked me. I really did not see that coming. I know these are tales and tropes told a million times, but they got me. Good on them. Of course I know better. …otherwise, I’m calling an emotional injury attorney and filing suit against Univision.
Let’s see what happens!
O.S.
Thank you Rgv Chick for this snappy and informative recap!!!
When I saw Memo about to take a pic I almost kneeled over in surprise! I've never seen anyone do the smart and obvious thing in a novela!!! LOL I am guessing he didn't get the pic because of the kids, but we'll see.
Memo's relationship with Isa isn't weird because we know that they are father/daughter, but without that knowledge and viewing it as a stranger meeting your daughter it would be a little odd and off putting I think.....but I wouldn't be a jackass about it like Falso is!
Juanpa gets all the gentleman points! So nice to see him insist on being honorable.
It was just plain odd that Ursula would make a public announcement of her pushed up wedding date during the birthday party of a client who had rented out the restaurant!!! So inappropriate.
I have to rush off to work so that's all for now. I can take notes tonight if no one else is planning to. Have a good day everyone!
Jarifa, thank you for explaining everything . I would be lost without your notes .
I stopped short when I read that Homero has Lewy Body Dementia. One of my best friend's husband was recently diagnosed with this devastating disease that affects both the mind and the body.
As for Anacandy, I wonder how she will feel about little, old people when she is a little, old person. Not a drop of empathy in that fluffy head.
Fantastic O.S.!
It was hard to pick favorites but “During Ugly Cry Bout 7.9”, “Things O.S. Really Didn’t See Coming” And “Team Bromance” are among them.
“When Rod says Tyler is in love with Andrea, Katya says it’s because he doesn’t KNOW her. Rod’s point is made right there” was very insightful.
I never expected things to turn this dark, but there you have it. I’m trying to remain optimistic. Hope springs eternal!
Diana
"When I saw Memo about to take a pic I almost kneeled over in surprise! I've never seen anyone do the smart and obvious thing in a novela!!!" made me smile Darcy, so true! I have to say though I thought I saw him look quickly at the picture he snapped, I could be wrong. I can only speak for myself, but that would be great if you could take notes for tonight. Until Mexicana is done on Monday, I really can only handle one summary a day. I will be happy to continue to take notes on Camino once a week.
Susanlynn, "Anacandy" cracked me up as did "not a drop of empathy in that fluffy head".
Diana
Thank you, Diana and Darcy! Seems like things aren't moving too fast, but I really do look forward to the Memo/Isa scenes. They are SO good together!
Diana, "Fausto is SUCH a jacka**!" Can't be said enough, can it? LOL If there is something that really pi$$e$ me off, it's watching someone mistreat a child; so Fausto is really getting to me. Karen and he were neck-in-neck when it comes to being hateful, but when Fausto yells at Isa, that hate meter spikes like crazy!
Darcy, I too had doubts about Memo taking the picture. I could see that he zoomed in to take the picture, but I'm not sure he had time to actually take it. Hopeofully, we'll find out soon. AND looking forward to your notes tonight :-)
I was expecting more of a reaction from Dani when they saw the picture of 6-year old Gaby, but she thought nothing of it!
These characters try to get up after being knocked down and are knocked down again. Yikes, Jer has lost his much needed job due to his anger . Now what ? Well, at least Esther is know working ...as long as Angel can keep paying her. I think Lenar is a bit jealous of Jer's j NEW roomie.
Braulio is everywhere , all the time , and he always has a sneaky, conniving look on his face . He must be in league with Santino and knows more about that accident than he says.
If Danny really saw Miceal , where is he hiding ? Old hawkeye busybody Flavia hasn't seen him , and she is the unofficial neighborhood watch.
Rgv Chick, thank you for restoring my comment from last night. I really appreciate it.
Diana
Thanks Mexicana recappers for your work and your insights.
A few more notes:
Olinka’s spa look was strikingly different from her usual. If she wants to elude the authorities, she should keep all that big asesina hair under wraps. I bet Rene regrets calling her and flaunting his two tickets to paradise!
Between blubbering, Andy’s girl Srta. CC taught me a few things:
Baruqi = slang for cash. Brandón asked Helena what did Gonzalo do with all that baruqi. I’ve noticed Brandón uqi-izing several words during this series. I suppose it makes him hip.
Estriptís (Wow!) = striptease.
Rene barks “¡Hazme el estriptís! while Olinka is ransacking his drawers (©️Diana).
Later on we see Andrea click YES on transferring $10M USD, but we don’t see the transferee. Olinka claims she knows the most valuable thing is in the suitcase. More valuable than $10M USD?!! La Mexicana y el Güero meets Pulp Fiction.
Ready for popcorn and today’s episode!
O.S.
Thanks, Jarifa, for the notes from the couch, always a great read and a great help to me.
I was surprised that Homero has Lewy Body. My brother-in-law has that. So many people never heard of it and I usually just tell people it’s what Robin Williams had. Mexico must be more knowledgeable about the disease!
I’m with Rayo, these so called friends need to stop their arguing and join together to help poor Rayo. I hope Rayo’s done with Mati but probably not. Knowing she really has no permanent home must be so difficult.
It seems strange that Danny would see his dad and dad runs away. I have to wonder why he’s not coming forward, at least to talk to his son.
I cannot like Mirna, she just takes up space without contributing to life. While AnaSofia isn’t any more likable she at least is doing things.
I get such bad vibes from Braulio. He’s either working with Santino or doing bad on his own. Ever since Ivan’s tablet was mentioned I’ve been expecting it to get stolen(by Braulio).
I was mad at Jero last night. He basically assaulted the professor. He deserved to be fired. Hope he finds another one soon.
Liz
Thanks, Rgv Chick, for the great recap. I thought the birthday party went well. Expected Macario to drop the birthday cake but he didn’t. Things happened, but not in a way to ruin the party, and I liked that.
I think Memo snapped a few pictures but I could be wrong. If he hadn’t been there the kids might have seen the kissing, I’m glad he stopped them. But if I were in his shoes I might have let Isabela see what her dad was up to.
Memo is so great with Isabela, actually he’s good with kids in all his roles. I wonder if he has any, something I’m going to look up! But as a dad viewing that I would think, sexual predator. Fausto was probably just mad that his daughter was enjoying herself with someone of a lower social class.
I’m predicting, or hoping, that Amparo and Eugenio end up together!
Liz
Gracias, Jarifa. Just caught up.
Totally agree that Jeronimo was out of line about the issue with the prof. His son is old enough to take the consequences of irresponsible non-actions.
Flavia is a garden-variety bitch who probably envies the beauty of the three friends. Why else would she look like she's aging so badly? Nilea Norvind is no older than the other three main actresses in this tale. My computer screen is so much better than the previous one and I can see all the lines on her face.
Ana Sofi is also one that is not aging well; this actress has that kind of face. Her "cutesy" behavior makes me sick and Angel needs to see what a manipulating schemer she is.
Homero's diagnosis is awful. I doubt that there is any effective treatment for him and this will be a huge burden on his children.
Thank you for "Baruqi = slang for cash" and all the other info O.S.!
SpanProf, I really appreciate your kind words. Excellent catch on the trailer! I agree that someoone will come upon Andrea and call for help. "I too cannot believe that Andrea is actually dead". Neither can I! There is always hope. The one constant in life.
Diana
Gracias, RGV Chick. Things are definitely heating up here! I see two possible catfights in the future:
-- Daniela and Ursula
-- Daniela and Karen
The first is more likely, as Karen is a snob and a control freak (just like Fausto, who also is). She is clearly looking to have an advantage over Fausto by encouraging him to give up his inheritance -- which is apparently conditional on his staying married to Daniela. Unless he was an irresponsible playboy when single this makes no real sense. Nor should it be legal in the first place.
This is obviously generating multiple levels of conflict. What happens to his inheritance if he divorces Daniela or does not have a "natural" child? Is he possibly sterile? We haven't been told this but I have the feeling he was an only child, so does it go to charity?
Eugenio does not seem to be pressuring Karen into marriage, but I'm all for him trying to get his son to grow up. I suspect there are few things more frustrating to parents than a Failure to Launch.
Ursula is serious bad news. She stalked Memo in this episode and we can only hope that he will catch her with Cesar within the next few episodes.
More later.
Ana Sofi apparently plans to stay young forever. There's a fairytale in my country about a young son seeing his father taking his elderly grandfather out of the house to thewoods because he could no longer hold a spoon. A father comes back and sees his son with some wood. He asks what the child is doing and the kid responds 'making a sleigh totake you to the woods when you get old.' Hope she never has kids even though she is meant to change by the end. I think she is in general not the kind of person who'd make a good parent. But her lack of compassion is awful. Mirna is the same too. The problem is that here they do this 'rich adults areselfish people with no compassion.'
What kind of people can follow Ana Sofi, though? She talks in such an annoying way that it's hard to listen to her. There are real influencers like that and I can't understand how it's possible to listen to them.
Misael is an ass for showing up where his son can see him and yet not talking to him. Does he mean to use this to prove to Julia he hasn't ran off? Such a cruel thing to do to a child.
I said Ester is a lot like her mum. She blames everyone but no one who tries to point out she was very controling towards her son will come out alive of that interaction. She is one of those who in general are good at dishing it out but can't take it, at least that's what I thought of her.
Rayo reminds me of my teenage cousin in these last episodes. Teens should really think a bit of what is most convenient to them. If Rayo gets back with Mati and that bunch, she'll lose her only true supporter.
I think that Ursula jumped so aggressively on Cesar because she wants to get pregnant and tell Memo the baby is his So that he will marry her .
Greetings, Patio! And we really do have a nice patio now.
O.S., thank you for mining CC for some interesting vocabulary. I have always thought that the vocabulary in this show was a bit more difficult than most. It's a shame you weren't with us earlier in the show's run, we would really have benefited, and not just for the vocabulary, your comments and insights are great! But better late than never :-)
English vocabulary too, like "uqi-izing" :-)
Also, yes, I too think there is something off about that hilltop location. It has been used before, once or twice, I think, and I always wonder about it. But I don't have any idea of the technical aspects of it, so I'll leave that to you. If you figure out anything please let us know.
I am with SpanProf, that so low stone fence looks a bit inviting to sit on, but also makes me nervous. It's a long way down :-)
Diana, thanks as always for your excellent recap and comments. Ever since you joined us you have been the linchpin of our little group, which basically started when SpanProf occasionally wrote a few comments, but we are lucky to now have you, and Jan and O.S. as well.
It seems we are really rolling now and, in a way, I'm a bit upset that the show closes on Monday. Maybe more than just a bit upset :-)
Andy
Is Karen Fausto's agony aunt? Tguy needs to make up his mind: either do something about the situation or stop complaining to your lover, who doesn't give a damn about your inheritance. I don't understand whyy he keeps going on about it when she made it clear she doesn't care if his wife dumps him. I have no idea why he is so meserable in this marriage.
Amparo is another one I don't understand. She actually believed all that guff about an asault. Why does she love that husband of hers? He gambles and the only thing he does in addition to this is have jealousy fits.
Has Fausto ever loved his daughter? His behaviour changed so suddenly that it seems just not normal. But if he doesn't care about her, why then does he get mad that Memo went to her school? A dog in the manger. Daniela and Amparo could create a club later,'I finally came to my senses.'
Andy, please don’t be sad. ¿Tristuqi?
It was this great show and ya’ll’s banter that encouraged me to (finally) start commenting.
There’s an age-old Mayan aphorism that goes a little something like this: “When one telenovela closes, another one opens.” - Pakal the Great, 28 August 683.
Please let me know what ya’ll are watching so we can continue our patio prates.
O.S.
Susanlynn, "I think that Ursula jumped so aggressively on Cesar because she wants to get pregnant and tell Memo the baby is his So that he will marry her" - good call, I think so too!
"Has Fausto ever loved his daughter?" waterlily, I think he 'loved' (to the degree he is capable of) Isa only because she was "his" child AND the golden ticket to his inheritance. However, once he found out she isn't his biological child, he dropped any pretense orf caring. He is already jealous of Memo (I think) and wants him away from both Dani and Isa.
Amparo is a smart woman who is obviously making a foolish (terrible) choice in her husband. To her credit, he has been able to keep little from her, but the fact he is a traitorous brute is sadly one of them. I think Eugenio will be there to cushion her fall.
Diana
Gracias, Jarifa. Such a treat to catch a break with your recap.
Ana Sofia mimicking “little old people” with spastic fingers is a new low. Angel, what more do you need to dump her?
Jero, no! I'm feeling for Ester rooming with this hot-head. I sure hope he can get his job back so they can pay the rent.
Uh-oh, Chepita’s dating app friend wants to come visit her but he’s short of cash. She falls into the trap and offers to float him a loan.
Not to be cruel, but Rayo has no family and few friends (Celeste, Teo, and ugh Mati), so what’s the point of a quinceañera party? Just do something small with just her and Celeste.
I don't think Misael is any hero, but maybe his life is in danger and he's sneaking out from hiding just to peek at his son.
Ursula trying to get pregnant sounds very likely and also very stupid. She won't like what stretchmarks will do to her stupid tats or what a baby will do to her life.
I think Fausto liked the idea of a pretty wife and little daughter as being props for his social image, but we are seeing his true self in the man who cheats on his wife with her alleged best friend and his sudden rejection of them upon discovery that the little girl wasn't his after all. I hope we get a flashback to the reading of the will because non of this sounds kosher.
Casting FYI:
Adrian Sebastian Gonzales (Chema) was Benjamin in Mi Fortuna es Amarte. I hope the network isn't feeding him drugs to prevent growth. He is also in Vencer flashbacks as the child version of Ivan.
Rodrigo Brand (JuanPa) was in MFEA as Omar, who became Natalia's son-in-law.
Andrea is prostrate on the tree lined path, bleeding out.
Rodrigo and Tyler have a conversation and we see Rene has finally freed himself from the handcuffs and is back in his office. Driving very fast, Olinka is giggling and cackling to herself gently touching the suitcase as Rene calls her and rebukes her for what she’s done. She laughs maniacally as she throws the phone out the window.
Chabela fetches coffee for Dona Maty, Marcia, Mario and Gladys. Hot coffee and a dark raspberry cocktail are the choice of beverages today. Not sure if he thinks Andrea has taken the money? Katya and Rodrigo argue, and Katya tries to call her mother but of course she doesn’t answer. She is freaking out and decides to call Olinka. Katya and Rodrigo join the group. I think Rod got a text the money was transferred.
Rocio is helping Brandon with his exercises, and he seems to be making good progress as Helena kisses him. Hugs from Rocio too. Isis comes by with the news that Andrea is dead (I would have thought Vilyeri would have told them?) Paulina tells Ignacio that Andrea has passed.
A wild-eyed Olinka is speeding trying to evade several police cars following her, lights blazing away. There is a roadblock which she crashes through, the car exploding in flames! The fire shoots up in the air and photographs of the “family” are littered among the debris.
Next, our group is at a funeral home. They must believe it was Andrea who crashed and burned! Katya is grief stricken as she walks to the casket crying “mama, no, no, no” then “why?” Forgive me, she cries. Chabela is crying too and I’m tearing up…This is gut wrenching. Rodrigo puts his hand on Tyler’s shoulder in consolation. Rene shows up to darken the landscape. Katya slaps Rene, calling him an assassin. It is because of him that her mother is dead! He is a traitor! He stares stoically and says he is sorry. Leave and never come back, Tyler says. Rene, hands in his pockets, does just that. Later, Rene recalls proposing to Andrea and wanting to form a family with her and Katya. But ambition got in the way. My Andrea he manages, eyes closing. But…then he sits up and stares, some memory has stirred. He recalls Olinka’s words…Could it possibly have been Olinka in the accident??? He makes a call (police?)
Diana
Vilyeri comforts her dear friend. Diego and Sebastian arrive with Ignacio and Paulina. Hugs and heartfelt condolences are expressed. Katya sits between Vilyeri and Diego, her dearest friends. Helena, Brandon and Rocio are introduced by Isis to Rodrigo and Tyler (where is Boni?) Tyler asks about Gonzalo and Brandon answers negatively. Rocio is so sorry about Katya’s mother and Brandon holds Katya’s hands and Katya hugs her “hermanos”. Later, Brandon tells Vilyeri that Gonzalo was responsible for the helicopter accident. He tells her he is the child of an assassin (a hell of a breakup line). Chabela and Tyler have coffee later and she tells about Andrea’s father dying then we see a flashback to Andrea’s mother, in the bathtub, wrists slit.
Prayers are held at the funeral home. Katya falls asleep and imagines she and Tyler on a boat, “Andrea”, gliding on the water, Katya holding a box of ashes as a mariachi band plays, Chabela holding her tightly. Later, she kisses the casket, laden with flowers.
Rene was savvy enough to make inquiries and we next see him at a clinic asking about a potential patient. The doctor says they do have someone and takes him to Andrea, on a stretcher, breathing, eyes closed!! Rene calls Tyler – Andrea is alive! She is critical but alive. Tyler tells a shocked but ecstatic Chabela!!! But, then, we see Andrea flatlining and clad in white, she is in a dark tunnel as she cries out to her mother, who is waiting at the other end, illuminated by the light. “Mama” she cries out as she hugs her. Andrea is in tears as she begs her mother…
I was trying to figure out what was transpiring as I was typing so, please forgive the gaps and anything I included in error. I realize I was unable to include everything that occurred as this flew at the speed of light. much. Friends, I look forward to your filling in what I missed and any corrections.
Diana
Thanks, Rgv Chick. Super job.
ITA Memo recorded a video. You go Memo! I can see him showing it to his brother, seeking his advice. But showing it to Dani? That's a tough decision.
Macario has some nerve being jealous. I'm guessing Mac and Amparo have been together since middle school. She evolved, he didn't. She's got three loving kids, a thriving business, and blinders when it comes to her husband. Mac is happy as a clam with his family, his gambling, and his mistress (who I'm guessing is not "the love of his life" as he claimed to to said mistress on the phone in a epi, but an extension of his need to gamble).
Squee, villains Karen and Aaron will meet behind Fausto's back. What planes will these sickos come up with?
Thanks, everyone for stopping by the patio. Thursdays are always busy for me but I have been reading and enjoying your comments and observations.
Diana, thank you! This is a great recap, perhaps your best yet.
I, too, missed Boni.
More later, I have to get coffee and think about this.
Andy
Niecie, I think Karen has met her match in the hooded eyed, evil ooozing from every pore Aaron!! These two were a match made in hell, weren't they??
I don't think Memo will show the video to Dani. He is too honorable but I suspect he will let Fausto know what he has, which he will not take too kindly.
Diana
Diana, thank you again for your great recap. I think you got everything of importance, and got it right, as far as I can see. I haven't yet consulted with Srta CC so a fair amount of the dialog went over my head. Any very minor details not exactly right don't matter anyway.
Well, it's a good thing Olinka did not shoot Andrea in the head :-)
Still, I did not expect Andrea to be so gravely wounded, I thought she would be more or less OK... somehow.
The Xochimilco barge scene really threw me off. Are there ceremonies like that, other than on el Día de los Muertos?
But it was a nice wake and a good time was had by all. Or at least by me. This is what has so pulled me into this novela, the mood of it, the sense that things are actually OK even when there is an unhappy occurrence or even worse than that. No agony, no tears. Well, maybe just a tiny bit of tearing up at some of the very touching scenes of affection and love, or family support in bad times.
But that's good stuff, not depressing bummer stuff.
OK, show of hands... Who thinks Andrea will pull through?
Me, I'm a little worried :-)
But perhaps talking with her mother will convince Andrea that Katya still needs her. That works for me.
I have to go out for a while, but I'll be back, there's no escaping me.
Andy
Andy, life is such that sometimes we need to hope, to trust, to have “…the sense that things are actually OK even when there is an unhappy occurrence or even worse than that. No agony, no tears. Well, maybe just a tiny bit of tearing up at some of the very touching scenes of affection and love, or family support in bad times”. Beautifully stated.
I think Zulema is gone for good. But I’m not sure about Erika. Will we ever see her again?
I think Andrea will pull through (courtesy of her mother as you noted Andy). I still am very unsettled though as to how all this will end.
Diana
West Coast Edition
This is only a partial recap
Tyler is very concerned about where Andrea is. After all, she did transfer the sum of $10 million dollars USD. Later they are relieved that Andrea was not doing anything wrong with the transfer.
Katya tries to call Andrea, but she gets an out of the area message.
Mati and Don Jaime enjoy margaritas that Chabela has brought them.
Tyler talks aloud about calling the police on Andrea.
In a lighter moment, Viyeri shows Isis one of her designs.
A police chase with Olinka ends with Oslinka in a fiery crash. Adios, lady. The problem is that it happened in the car that Andrea was driving; so what is the viewer left to believe?
At a funeral home, we find Andrea. Katya is in disbelief that she has lost her mother, or so it seems... Katya strokes the casket and says: "Mama perdoname, perdoname," Sobbing all the while. All present are shaken Chabela, Tyler, Rodrigo Jaime and Mati. More mourners come in.
Rene appears at the funeral home. Tyler wants to know what he is doing there. He says that the police let him know, although he is not very welcome. Tyler asks him to leave.
Let it suffice to say that things are not always as they seem. There's your partial recap. This writer is not very good at summarizing an entire episode, especially near the grand finale. Is it time for Kleenex, popcorn, or both?
Excellent West Coast Edition Jan!
My favorite was "A police chase with Olinka ends with Oslinka in a fiery crash. Adios, lady. The problem is that it happened in the car that Andrea was driving; so what is the viewer left to believe?" Yes, hence the funeral and the very real grief from Andrea's "family" that ensued...
"Let it suffice to say that things are not always as they seem" is exactly right.
"Is it time for Kleenex, popcorn, or both?" Great question, but I'm keeping my Kleenex handy for certain.
Diana
Thanks Diane, Andy, and Jan for your outstanding coverage and analysis.
Here is some minutia I caught.
This installment should have had a disclaimer: you must be THIS tall to ride this roller coaster episode.
Despite her rage, Kat defends Andrea to Rod and says she must keep her mom’s name clean. She’s innocent!
@ 11:50 AM Maty declares “Happy Hour” and orders a margarita. Jaime follows suit. Then Tyler hits the “family” with everything that is going on.
Helena urges her kids not to let their father’s crimes define them.
Viiiyéri reveals to Isis that Andrea was the BIG donor for Bandón’s recovery.
Brandón declares he will straighten up and fly right and become the Man of the House.
When Olinka crashes, photos (from
the “más valioso” suitcase) fly everywhere. They are of Andrea & Chabela raising young Katya. Note: This is just my theory.
Rocio dumps Archie before he can find out the family secret. Brandón will later repeat this action with Viiyéri
René flashes back to his proposal to Andrea. He says, “We were happy. We’d be together if it weren’t for the scam.” He says ambition cost them everything. She lost her life. He lost her love. He even lost Katya’s respect and affection.
Mario brings Nacho up to speed on Sofia’s rehab. Nacho will visit. Mario/Gladys Jr. is due in 4 months.
Tyler asks Helena to keep quiet about Gonzalo’s crimes to Katya because she has enough on her plate.
Branón does tell Viiyéri and tries to break up. She takes a deep breath and sighs.
Chabela tells Tyler what a rough life Andrea has had and how she came to be such a hard luck woman. Her politician dad died, and they stripped her mom of everything. Chabela met these 2 survivors when Andrea was 7. The poor mother sold jewelry to get by.
Anyone think Tyler was rather cold - sipping espresso(?) while hearing all this tragedy?
The final scene was clearly a nod to Bewittched with Itatí Cantoral in full Samantha/Serena splendor. Andrea confesses her failures as a woman and as a mother and begs her mom
to take her with her (towards the light).
O.S.
O.S., your "minutia" was excellent!
"@ 11:50 AM Maty declares “Happy Hour” and orders a margarita. Jaime follows suit" made me smile.
"The final scene was clearly a nod to Bewittched with Itatí Cantoral in full Samantha/Serena splendor" was exceptional. How clever!
But I am most appreciative of "Anyone think Tyler was rather cold - sipping espresso(?) while hearing all this tragedy?" Yes! I definitely caught that but was so busy trying to capture everything I could, that fell by the wayside. And it shouldn't have!
Thank you!
Diana
It's a little after the fact, but I do VERY VERY much appreciate the hard work of Diana, Andy, and O.S. I would also give a shout out in advance to SpanProf and her usual quality over quantity post. All of you and your sophisticated palates really color my world with respect to Mexicana.
Muchas gracias
Jan, we also appreciate you and are so glad you are here.
Everyone has such a unique perspective and wise point of view.
Our voices all seem to mesh well. I'm just sorry that we have so little time left to enjoy this.
