OT/Liz

Hi Liz, I saw your comment on the first page about not knowing what is the best way to learn Spanish - subtitles or not. I can’t claim to know what is best but I can tell you what works for me. When I first started I watched novelas that we’re subtitled in English. So I listened to the Spanish and read the English translation. I then moved on to Spanish subtitles. I now watch without subtitles but if I am recapping and I just don’t understand something I turn on the subtitles for moral support, lol

I don’t know if it’s best or not but with all the various streaming services out there and all the options I am sure you could find plenty of options for English subtitled movies or shows you could try along with watching Uni with the patio!! A lot of movies now are dubbed in Spanish too, I haven’t watched many dubbed movies, but if you find a movie you know well then you can watch without subtitles and you will still know what they are saying and get a feel for the Spanish??? Just an idea. I listen to songs I know in English that are now released in Spanish.

Mexicana. Great recap, Andy! OMG! Now that the crazy Sofia wants to run off with her, Melody is really in danger! And are we ever going to learn if Gonzalo survived the attack or are we going to be left like his family--never knowing and always wondering? I am also on tenterhooks about how successful Brandon's operation was. I hope we learn today. I wonder as well how Andrea will outsmart Olinka, as I am sure she will.

Mexicana and OT

I hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving, and I want to thank Rgv Chick for her Thanksgiving calorie dispensation or indulgence. I would be in bad shape if those calories actually counted. (The bathroom scale seems not to have gotten the message, but I'm sure it will soon.)

Jan, it's very nice to see you again! Don't quit us now, this novela is definitely wrapping up.

forg/jecoup, it looks like Mexicana will be replaced by Corazón guerrero on Tue, 6 Dec, if Zap2it is right.
In a perverse way this works well for me. I took a look at Corazón guerrero on Wikipedia and I have no interest. So I get a break from telenovelas and the incessant commercials for a while at least.

I will put up a short recap of today's Mexicana this evening sometime, probably quite late. (places to go; things to do, people to see; naps to take; you know :)

I still think Univision is messing with our episodes. Our beloved but cranky doña Maty is definitely at the finca now, but Jaime has tried to get her to their house (on the beach?) and I think they have spent a little time there. But Maty probably misses The Family and arguing with Andrea. Or I could just be confused about things. That happens a lot.

Andy

Mexicana

SpanProf, thanks. We still have a week to go and Uni would not want to lose any eyeballs, so stuff will keep happening, but it will mostly resolve happily I think.

I have no worries about Melody, a cute and sweet little girl like her should be safe enough this late in the show. Not so cute Gonzalo... well, his future, if he has one, is quite iffy.

I think Brandon will pull through OK, hopefully the writers have not done Viiyéri dirty.

Andy

Thanks, Darcy. lots of good suggestions. I know a couple of Spanish teachers, just because I was a teacher. One said watch without and one said to use subtitles. I watched for a while without but missed so much. Now I use Spanish subtitles. I don’t get it all but get more than just listening. I find it really hard to understand Spanish when it’s spoken- except the slow speed on Duolingo! Just hoping to improve my Spanish. I’d love to be bilingual but don’t think that will happen.

Anonymous:
That's basically how I learned Spanish.

1. I took the Destinos course - a course in the form of a telenovela. Actually quite good.

2. I watched only Spanish-language TV. When I was home, the TV was tuned to a Spanish-language channel even if I wasn't watching.

3. When I watched, it was with CC in Spanish.

I'm not bilingual, but I can read most non-scientific Spanish and understand much of what I hear on TV - depending very much on the accent so I use CC when I need to.

Televisa novelas up through the first decade of the century used something we called "Televisa Spanish":very slow and very, very repetitive which helped a lot.

VENCER #21 Part 1

Notes from the couch . . . WARNING: It is a looong one tonight.

Did I ever say that Angel reminds me of a big friendly golden retriever? Well, he does.

JULIA

-Julia says anyone passing by the accident could have picked up Margarita's cellphone not just Misael. Ester decides to dial her number and see what happens. Nobody answers but why are the messages marked as read? Julia thinks the police are hiding something. Ester is convinced that Misael is behind it all. Celeste agrees. As Ester and Celeste gang up on Julia, Rayo asks if they have always fought like this.

-Early in the episode, Julia sees that "sin filtros" has not accepted her friend request. Later her request has been granted. She thanks "sin filtros" and asks if she can find out who "sin filtros" really is ???

-Julia gets a message that the blood on the gauze was not Misael's.

JERO

-Donato transfers an advance for the house sale to Jero. Jero insists on giving him a receipt even if Donato is happy with a handshake.

-Flavia accepts Jero's offer. He signs the lease. She calls Ariel to tell him but also adds that he should be able to rent another apartment in the same complex.

-Jero tells Ester that he got the apartment. She is grateful. They agree that the situation is going to work for both of them with them spitting the rent and him finally finding some place to live. He adds that thanks to her advice , he is going to be able to get closer to his kids. He also thinks that her being in her own house is going to give her the strength to go on and find out what happened other son. She tells him that she managed to get a job at Funes Trucking where she should be able to find out lots of information about the accident and her son's death. Yes, the driver was a Funes employee.

- Jero tells his family that he will be moving out in two weeks.

-Jero invites Donato over to the house. Jero tells the family that he has sold his half of the house to Donato who has made sure it still is in Adair's and Ebe's names as their inheritance as he had initially planned for it to be. He adds that he may not be in the house but he will still be involved with his sons. His sons and Lerna are grateful. The next day Jero and Lerna sign their divorce appears. Donato is eager to plan his wedding to Lerna Jero takes off his wedding ring.

VENCER Part 2

-Jero and Adair meet to study their Open Prep classes together with a greatly improved relationship.

ANGEL

- Angel tells Braulio that he refuses to be intimidated by Zac. He has a new idea for the company to expand. Funes would provide a subscription delivery service for other companies. They would do local deliveries within municipalities themselves of a set price. Braulio likes the idea but there is the same old drawback: the money needed to develop and launch the concept. Braulio asks him if he might not want to involve his future father in law. Angel is not interested.

-Braulio asks if they should just pay Misael as usual. Angel says to make the direct deposit and then they can follow the money via his card (debit card?) Braulio doesn't think the Misael would be so stupid as to use the card. Angel tells Braulio they found Misael's phone in Querétero. He thinks that Misael is trying to confuse them.

-Mirna appears at the company to complain about her credit card being turned down. Angel says he will fix the situation for her but adds that she is spending too much money. She disagrees but Angel will be putting a credit limit on her card. He suggests that she come work at Funes and be a productive person. Nope, she wants her old life back instead. He tells her that her old life is gone and is never coming back.

-Angel's secretary tells him that the Laredo office let her know that Misael's company car is still parked up there and has not been moved. She will book him a round trip ticket to fly there tomorrow. He gets a voice mail from Ana Sofí wondering when he is coming home and whining about being super alone. When he tells her that he is flying to Laredo she is even more annoyed. He explains that maybe Misael's car will give them a clue as to what happened to him. She supposes that Julia is going. No, he is going alone and invites Ana Sofí along. She begins thinking about shopping in Austin or maybe Houston. He tells her that it is best he go alone. He is coming back the same day.

-Angel tells Braulio that he cannot believe that they didn't think about the car earlier. Braulio offers to go with him but he prefers to go up north alone. Ester has stepped in and arranged the ticket and boarding pass.

-In Texas, Angel finds out that Misael didn't formally turn the car in. He dropped it off and left. Angel is aggravated that nobody noticed it before. He finds nothing in the car but there is a backpack in the trunk.

CELESTE

-Celeste tells Rayo that she and the others used to be real tight but now they are all isolated as if they were strangers. Rayo decides she is going out with Mati for a while. Celeste tells her that she cannot come and go as she pleases but Rayo leaves anyway.

-Celeste complains to Brauliio about her friends. He tells her it's her own fault for having hung around with such toxic women. He says she should not see them or get involved with them anymore and as he knows that he is right. Rayo takes it all in.

-Celeste tries to address Rayo's leaving without permission earlier and instead she ends up on the receiving end of a lecture on how Rayo thinks that Braulio likes to try to control Celeste. Celeste says that Braulio has always been like that but that doesn't mean that he controls her life. She says that Braulio opened her eyes up about certain things about her brother Oscar. That is why she doesn't talk to him any more and she likes it that way. Celeste says the she and Margarita had that in common: they were not close with their families. Rayo agrees and says that her mother didn't even go to see Cuca when she was in Laredo.

-Celeste has another episode of blurry eyesight and tremor in her hand. Rayo wants to run out and see Mati to talk about celebrating her 15th birthday. Celeste says she has a half hour because she isn't feeling well.

HOMERO

Homero finds a moldy sandwich and a piece of rotten fruit in a drawer. In frustration, he asks why is this happening to him???

VENCER Part 3

ESTER

-Flavia tells Ester to get packing because her apartment is rented and she needs to be out by the end of the month. Ester asks Flavia to introduce her to the new renter. Maybe he wants to buy some of her furniture. She agrees saying it will be easier for Ester to pay her back the fortune that she owes her now. Flavia says the way things are going she is going to have to raise the interest rates on her and Julia. Ester says she will be getting her payment very soon. Flavia reminds her that is what she always says.

-On her first day of training for her new job, Braulio tells Ester not to bother his wife anymore. She cannot take getting worked up in her state. Ester guesses that Celeeste is pregnant.

ONE MORE THING:

It seems like when Mati calls, Rayo jumps. Mati continues to harass Rayo about liking Teo. Flavia catches Teo talking to Rayo and reminds him she told him to stay away from her. Mati cannot believe Rayo is almost 15 and has not had sex yet.

THE COMEDY:

-Lucía has decided to see who she can find on a dating app. She composes possible profiles she would send out loud. When Rodolfo is about to catch her, she tells him she is thinking of becoming an extra on telenovelas to help with the expenses. She was practicing some dialogue. One of these days, she might even meet Angélica Vale! Rodolfo acts interested himself and suggests that they could do it together! In order to avoid discussing the matter further, she says that nature is calling and leaves. Later, she tells the family that she has joined a "tanda" (a revolving savings association among friends or neighbors) and she will be able to help out with Julia's debt. Rodolfo brings up that Lucía wants to work as an extra in telenovelas. The whole family is excited. Later we see her reading messages possible dates have sent her.

Please add anything I left out.

Camino 1/3
**Hey all – I took some notes while watching tonight to start the conversation. Not a true recap but just a quick rundown of tonight’s double episode

Isa charms all of Memo’s family except Ursula, but that might be because Ursa is jealous of Dani. Isa gets along famously with Amparo and all of her cousins though! And it’s adorable!

Memo gets the paternity results; Isa is his and he is thrilled and looks at his daughter with even more awe! Falso (I can’t think how to spell it and he’s false so it works for me) also gets the results and he is not thrilled. He immediately starts referring to his not bio-daughter as a ‘bastard’ and declares she is nothing but a business deal. Cold hearted jackass!

Lupita admits to Gabby that she likes Sebastain and at the same time Sebastian is talking to Juanpa about Lupita. Gabby encourages her sister to go for it while Juanpa encourages Sebastain to leave Lupita alone since she isn’t interested in him and he’s just a player who will end up losing interest in Lupita the moment he wins her over. Sebastian isn’t discouraged, nothing and no one is going to keep him from winning over Lupita.

Ursula makes sure Dani knows she and Memo are engaged and getting married next month! Dani definitely looks jealous.

Macario goes to see Falso to find out how much money he can get if he sells Amparo and his family down the river.

Memo finds out Dani and Gabby have met before and Gabby went out with Dani’s brother, he comments how life is crossing their paths in multiple ways. Amparo mentions to Gabby how funny it is that she already knew Dani’s brother and Gabby lets her mom know that they also already know Dani’s husband. Amparo is shocked to learn that jackass who wants to buy her property is Dani’s husband.

Ursula finally succeeds in getting Dani to leave by reminding her again her car is ready but it backfires as Memo leaves with Dani and Isa. Isa and Dani comment on the way home about how much they loved Memo’s family.

Ursula follows Memo and co bringing Dani’s car and complaining to Leo that Dani is after her man! Isa falls asleep in the truck and Memo carries her in. Dani walks in to a pissed Falso because he’s been calling all day and she’s been ignoring him. Instead of thanking Memo, Falso tells him to call him next time so he can carry his own daughter inside! Karen is there presumably worried about Dani – she said something unkind about Memo, I didn’t listen to her.

Leo meets Dani’s housekeeper (can’t remember her name) he’s clearly charmed and it looks mutual.

Jackass Falso tells Isa the opposite of a bedtime story complaining about how she’s just a bastard who found herself lucky enough to end up in their household. Luckily, she’s asleep. She wakes up later though and tries to get Daddy to read her a story but he coldly refuses her attention until he realizes he can grill her for info on the day. He’s almost caring until he’s done with her and then abruptly leaves refusing her even a good night kiss.

Dani goes on and on about how disconnecting from her cell all afternoon was good for her and about all the other things she’s learned from Memo. Karen points out Dani has been talking about Memo since she arrived and it’s obvious that she likes him. Dani says Karen is ridiculous but Karen suggests that if things didn’t go well on her Falso’s romantic evening, it’s because she’s getting her loving from Memo! Dani adamantly denies this Memo is just her employee!

Ursula is unhappy and threatening Memo again about getting too close to Dani. Leo is dreamy and talking about meeting a girl with the most beautiful eyes!!! I bet that ride home was fun.

Falso tells Dani off for spending time with peons and tells her Isa needs friends of their own class. He claims he was trying to spend more time with his family – that’s why he was calling – but she was with Memo and his family. Dani feels disappointed that she missed the opportunity to lap up the scraps Falso is supposedly willing to throw at her and Isa. A whole lunch outing! Woo hoo???

Camino 2/3

Ursula confronts Macario about bringing her husband to town….I didn’t pay much attention to this. Please fill in the details if you want. I know Macario suggested some sort of shady plan. I thought it was disturbing how touchy feely he was with her. I know none of my uncles have ever tried to touch me like that.

Dani and Falso talk about telling Isa she’s adopted. He’s suddenly in favor of this and Dani asks why he’s changed towards Isa but he’s denies anything is different. Later he showers and she finds Karen’s nighty in his bag!! Time for the big ‘are you cheating on me’ confrontation. Falso denies it. He claims he bought the nighty for Dani as a way to bring the passion back into their marriage. They fight again. She goes to sleep in Isa’s room.

Ursula wants to go on some mission – whatever Macario suggested I’m sure – without Memo and he lets her. But first she suggests they have babies right away again. Memo is uncomfortable. They fight again.

Gabby and Amparo tell Memo about Falso’s offer to buy their business. Amparo shows Memo a pic of Gabby and comments how weird it is Isa looks so much like her as a baby when she isn’t part of the family.

Ursa goes to give hubby money and get him to go away. She gives him the check Dani gave her for the car repair. They argue about family and he gets violent. I thought for a minute he was going to rape her but it appears he wants something else – they negotiate. He wants half of ______?? Not sure what Ursula has or owns. He gets too friendly again and it looks like Ursa isn’t entirely indifferent to her husband but she declares everything changed the night he shot the gun and became a murderer!!! I don’t think she said who he killed but it was a man. They fight more but eventually Ursa gives in to her hidden passion and they take it to the bed…..please add details about the argument/arrangement if you want I mostly tuned out during their fight.

Memo and Leo talk about how/when he can tell Dani and Falso that Isa is his daughter. Leo thinks they should at least tell their own family but Memo says no one else can know yet. Amparo and dad would be capable of storming Dani’s home and demanding Isa if they knew. Leo agrees.

Dani and Falso are fighting again/still the next morning and Dani doesn’t want to keep fighting for a relationship Falso clearly doesn’t even care about. She declares their marriage over!!! Falso is clearly alarmed his business deal is going up in smoke!

Macaro goes to work trying to convince Amparo that selling might be a good idea after all…..they could send Lupita to school and take vacation, etc etc. Amparo isn’t having it! No way Jose! She will work 24/7 to send Lupita to school if necessary but she won’t sell what her parents worked so hard to build.

Falso tries again to convince Dani he has no lover but when he isn’t successful, he takes his anger out on Isa, yelling at her to be silent on the way to school when she innocently asks her daddy to sing her a song.

Dani is distracted and distant with Memo as he tries to find out what’s wrong but she just wants to work. When she can take no more, she begs Memo to take her somewhere to distract her and make her feel better. They find up in some sort of cantina and she downs whatever she’s drinking and asks for another. Memo encourages her to slow down but she doesn’t and she wants to know why all men are liars!! (LOL)

Falso complains to Karen about the nighty but she isn’t concerned. Falso says her antics might cause him millions!!! He tries again to call Dani – no answer.

Eugenio shows up at Amparo’s his birthday is tomorrow and he wants to celebrate there! He does let her know Falso works for him but he didn’t come to try to convince her or change her mind. They make plans for the b-day celebration and when leaving Eugenio mentions seeing Macario at his company the day before.

Camino 3/3

Memo and Dani share broken heart stories and Dani tells Memo his ex must be idiot because any woman would be lucky to have a man like him! They keep talking and Dani finally admits she thinks her husband is cheating on her.

Sebastian comes once again to see Lupita. He has a plan and wants her to take her off to parts unknown. She looks like she’s willing to go this time.

Dani is really good and drunk and now spilling out more truth…..Memo is a gentleman and Falso is not, Falso isn’t loving enough with Isa. Dani asks Memo if he would cheat on her if he was her husband but he doesn’t answer. Dani almost wanders into traffic and Memo has to catch her. They get closer and closer but Memo doesn’t take advantage of Dani’s vulnerability and instead tells her it is time to get her some coffee! Later she’s embarrassed but he says don’t worry, we all get drunk from time to time. When she sobers up Dani is worried that she said something inappropriate. Memo jokes that she told him she was in love with him and wanted to marry him!!! Lol but then he laughs and tells her the truth. He gives her pills for her headache and offers to take her home to talk to her husband.

Sebastian has brought Gabby to some sort of career fair(??) She loves it and he earns major points but doesn’t get the kiss he so badly wants. He looks genuinely smitten to me I don’t think Lupita is just a conquest like Juanpa fears.

Dani comes home and finds Karen and Falso in her home again. Sadly, she’s not suspicious of finding her husband with her bestie two days in a row even though she suspects him of cheating! She refuses to speak to Falso and instead drags Karen off to see Isa. I don’t blame her I’d rather hang out with Isa too. Later when they are alone Dani asks Karen to help her find out who Falso’s lover is, sigh.

Falso and his right-hand thug go into the office to chat. I didn’t listen to anything they said until Isa came downstairs but we do see Falso has a safe full of cash. Isa overhears Falso saying that they have lied to Isa her whole life and it’s time to tell her she’s not their daughter – she’s adopted!!! She rips the picture she had drawn for daddy and starts crying.

Mexicana part 1

Some scenes combined, others chopped and diced and moved around, but I forget which is which. Sorry.

We open with poor nutso Sofía ranting at doubly poor Melody and telling her to pack because they are leaving for some place far, far away where they will be able to live peacefully without Mario finding them. Melody cries and cries, she doesn't want to go. Sofía insists and aggressively throws things into a suitcase and forces Melody to pack.
A little later, out on the street, Melody runs away from Sofía, who runs into the street after her and is struck by a car. She is seriously hurt and unconscious.

Mario and Gladys arrive a couple of minutes later by taxi, just before the ambulance arrives to take Sofía to the hospital.

Brandon tolerated his operation well and is recovering. After the anesthesia wears off he is evaluated to see if he has suffered any ill effects from the operation because this is a serious possibility.

Andrea goes to Katya's bedroom to tell her that Tyler has invited Olinka to stay with them at the finca. Andrea warns her to be careful of Olinka, she is very dangerous. Katya already knows this having been pushed down the stairs by Olinka.
Andrea also wants a little mother/daughter conversation. Is Katya falling in love with Rodrigo? Katya denies it; she and he get along great, but he is too serious, too intellectual, and is probably not a good dancer...
Andrea reminds her that she needs to keep tabs on him to see what he and Tyler are up to.

Actually, I think that Katya may have a point, it's not quite The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, but Katya and Rodrigo don't seem a perfect match. Then again, nine out of ten perfect matches end in divorce. (Don't get upset, I just made that up, but maybe.)

Tyler is with doña Maty, who lies to him saying "I'm not an old gossip, BUT..."   :-)
She warns him that Olinka is "te poniendo los cuernos". Tyler seems a bit mystified and puts his index fingers to either side of his head, 'putting horns on'? like a bull?
Come on, Tyler! Even I know this one. 'Poniendo los cuernos', she is cheating on you, sexually. With René.

Anyway, turns out that Olinka wanted to make doña Maty a margarita, which Maty did not want from her, but Olinka went off to make it anyway. Then her phone rang and Maty answered it; it was René, who thought that Olinka had answered and he started in with some sexually charged patter, but hung up as soon as he realized his mistake.

Tyler tells her that he is not interested in Olinka, but Maty insists that the woman wants to get her claws into him for his money.

Mexicana part 2

But Maty has more to say; she's tired of all the lies and nonsense, she can't continue with this and she is quitting. She has come to really care about "Trailer" and doesn't want to be part of the business anymore, she thinks that Andrea and others are taking advantage of his kind-heartedness.
She is quitting as of today.

Tyler says, 'no, wait' and he calls her "Señora" and explains that she was lied to by Andrea, this was no "job", no fantasy of his, but a scam.
Maty is very upset, very emotional, and hates that Tyler would call her "Señora". He asks her real name. " Brunilda Cuellar" she responds reluctantly. Later they reconcile and he calls her "Mami" again, but he swears her to secrecy.
Then Andrea enters and sees them both teared up and asks what's going on. They argue a bit and it looks like Andrea is very suspicious, but she leaves. Outside Maty's room she thinks to herself, "Canija vieja, cómo la odio." 'Old canija, how I hate her.'
I'm still not sure just what "canijo/canija" actually means in Mexico. It has been mentioned several times, and Erika once remarked to Tyler that he had picked up this mexicanismo. But Wiktionary has too many definitions and I'm still lost. I think it's one of those words that can be taken different ways in different circumstances.

As far as Andrea hating "canija" Maty, and Maty hating Andrea, I have seen a few mother/daughter relationships like this, usually when they are too much alike but won't admit it.
In other words, I'm not convinced that they hate each other.

Anyway, we get some swelling music while Maty tells Tyler that she loves him as the son she never had. He calls her Mami, she calls him Hijito.

A rather sluggish Brandon comes to after the operation. He asks why Gonazlo has not come, but no one answers.
Megan does arrive, dressed in a contamination suit, complete with head covering. She is not especially welcomed.

Paulina and Ignacio have dinner and talk. He wants to know how she now feels about Sebastián; she says they are "friends" now. He is relieved and lets her know he would like a chance with her. She likes the idea and they share a kiss. Then another, more enthusiastic kiss. Then... then the phone rings.

Brandon gets a basic neurological exam, sensation in his extremities. His arms do fine, but he feels nothing in his legs. He freaks out, he doesn't want to be a paralytic! Viiyéri is crying.

Andrea enters Maty's room and calls her a traitorous snake. These two make me laugh. They argue but Jaime tells Maty not to treat her daughter so coarsely. Maty says she is not my daughter. Shock and surprise all around.
Jaime wants an explanation. Maty explains that they are all hired to play the roles of Tyler's family members, but she remembers her promise to Tyler and makes no mention of any scam.
Ten minutes later Maty tells Jaime the truth about the scam, but only because he wanted them to leave the finca and, he said, she doesn't owe Tyler anything if he's not really her son. Not her biological son, but she loves him.

Grand detectives Tyler and Rodrigo discuss the case. They are down to a very few suspects now, mostly Andrea.

Helena is upset about Brandon, will he be paralyzed? Doctor says we'll see, hopefully with therapy he could regain the use of his legs.

Mexicana part 3 of 3.

Katya tells Chabela and Andrea that the fund to pay Brandon's medical expenses is not doing very well. Andrea and Chabela both make donations without telling Katya.
Hint, hint: They may be bad girls, but they are good bad girls.

Mario at the hospital literally bumps into a doctor, an orthopedist, who treated him a few years back when he had a foot injury while working at a car assembly factory.
She is nice enough to go see if there is any information about Sofía, and to later scrub in.

Gladys is with Melody at the finca, consoling Melody who thinks her mother's accident is her fault. Gladys tells her that it is not.
Gladys and Melody pray for Sofía's recovery, and later she sends Mario a picture of Melody asleep in their bed.

Sofía's father, Agustín, arrives at the hospital and is aggressive with Mario. Later they both calm down and talk while waiting for some word on Sofía. Agustín is upset with himself that he didn't do enough to help Sofía with her problem. Mario asks, you mean her alcoholism?
Agustín says no, she was diagnosed as a teenager with bipolar disorder. Mario is upset, so much trouble could have been averted had he known.

But back at the finca, bedtime is fun time! Olinka slinksa into Tyler's bedroom. Chabela sees this and runs to Andrea to tell her.

In the darkness Olinka drops her robe and gets into bed with sleeping Tyler. She starts kissing his neck and he partially wakes with a smile, and says 'Oh, I like that, Andrea!'

Olinka reacts badly to this. Tyler wakes up and turns on the light. He asks her what she's doing there. Olinka replies with some Spanish which I think could be very, very loosely translated as "Duh! What do you think I'm here for? Duh!"

The episode ends here, we will have to wait until Monday to see if Andrea and Chabela come by to join in   :-)

Andy

I watched Destinos about 8 years ago. I keep thinking I’ll revisit it to see if I can notice progress in comprehension!

Vencer
Thanks, Jarifa, another episode with a lot happening. I felt so sorry for Jero when he removed his ring. And then Denato was right there ready to plan the wedding!

So now we kind of know how Ester will explain sharing the apartment!

Rayo really sees things as they are regarding the three friends. And she nailed it with Braulio! He is trying to isolate Celeste. First her brother, then Rayo and now the three friends.

So the car is empty except for a backpack! Open it!

Camino
Fausto's change in attitude is disturbing. For a business man he's pretty stupid. He doesn't try very hard to keep both his wife and daughter happy and later whines to his lover that he'll lose his money if Daniela dicedes she wants a divorce. What a stupid man. I bet all his business deals are successful only because he murders his oponents. Daniela should really start suspecting Karen, who also often makes rather obvious comments about how Daniela's marriage is not in its best phase. This is one of those things that indicates the person is quite happy you are suffering, at least in my experience. I do hope Sebastian won't disappoint Lupita. That Daniela's nanny Chuchita seems to like Memo so Leo wont' have it easy trying to win her over.
I was a bit astonished by Isabela's reaction to the knowledge she is adopted. For some reason I had the impression she is too young to fully understand it, let alone see it as either good or bad.

Mexicana

Andy, I missed the TN yesterday. Thank you for your excellent three part recap. It was a "words eye view" of the episode. I am without a DVR and am muy limitado in what I can do anyways.

I remember thinking Celeste should really think about what Rayo said. If a teenage girl noticed something and identified the issue, there's something going on.
Ester is lucky she has people helping her.I think there's a phrase in Spanish that goes something like ni la trago- this is what happens to me when she shows up. It really pissed me off how either she or Julia treated Celeste in the previous episode.'you haven't lost anything' and 'you have no problems'. These two should learn to keep their moths shut sometimes.
Poor Geronimo. I still can't get over the unfairness of the situation. I don't think Leenar even apologised to him. The woman seems to have no regrets.
Rayo finally showed her true 'teenage side'.'I'm going out regardless of what you say'. But she is definitely more caring than regular teens, at leastfrom my experience..
It's funny how both Masael and Braulio ended up with women who are too good for them. Julia is still convinced her dear husband is innocent and Celeste thinks Braulio is the best thing that ever happened to her when the opposite is more likely to be true. It's a pity he is so controlling. And yet he cares about her enough not to abandon her after he learnt of her diagnosis. Why can't a decent guy be the one who does this? I just can't accept that such an asshole is the one to stay. I wonder if there's any statistics regarding the number of men who stay with their wives after thos wives had been diagnosed with a serious illness.
One of you suggested Matilde wants to use Rayo. I have no idea how you come up with these theories because I don't even bother guessing as I know I'll get it wrong.

Camino

Thanks, Darcy, that was excellent. I can’t believe how Fausto went from loving dad to calling Isabela a bastard. What a cold hearted man. I was going to say he and Karen deserve each other but he may be lower than Karen. And if he thinks so little of his daughter why does he care who she plays with. Guess his social status is important to him.

That whole scene with Ursula and her uncle totally confused me. I thought he might be her lover, not her uncle. And I thought they were making plans to go off together if things don’t work out with Memo. I could be totally wrong. She also seems to have an attraction to her husband. It seems like they were partners in doing bad things, maybe robbing people, but she left when he ended up killing someone.

I love Memo’s family and the scenes they are in. And loved how Dani and Isabela fit right in.
I wonder if the family will ever suspect Isabela is part of their family.

Eugenio seems like a good guy. I hope he and Amparo end up as a couple.

Liz

Mexicana. Excellent recap, Andy! Darn right Sofia or her father should have told Mario about her bipolarism! That's too important to keep secret, especially since Mario could have helped see to it that she took her meds. I really had expected that it would be Melody who was injured in some way due to Sofia's craziness. Thank goodness she wasn't! I guess we may never find out whether Gonzalo survived being set on fire. Could that have been cut from an episode? It's good that Brandon can see and speak without difficulty, but it may be a while before we find out how successful the physical therapy is (but we only have about a week, for heaven's sake!).

CAMINO

Darcy, what a a wonderful surprise!! Thank you so much for pulling double duty..and you may not consider it a "true" recap, but it definitely is..and an excellent one at that! I love that you always work in your "thoughts" and am always amazed at how similar our reactions are to the characters and events.

Dani and Isa with Memo's family was truly adorable; and I really liked "cold-hearted jackass" it's a good description of Falso...without using harsher language LOL

I enjoyed watching Dani and Memo together when she was getting drunk. Memo always has this "what should I do?" look, but he always manages to impress Dani with whatever he does.

And just to add a few details/clarifications--

I did listen to the conversation between Ursula and Cesar because it cleared up their back story. Seems that Cesar was not abusive. According to Cesar's version, Ursula got him into stealing--Ursula would get cars to stop and then they would steal whatever they could from the people. Though they didn't specify, I'm thinking that it was during one of those stops that Cesar shot a man. The man was probably trying to protect his belongings because Cesar said he had to shoot the man or be shot himself. And this is why Ursula left Cesar--because he shot the man...and she decided to change her ways after that.

And Macario's "plan" was that Ursula make enough money to pay/convince Cesar to divorce her. Then she can marry Memo and take him away from there.

During the Fausto/Aaron conversation, it was revealed (confirmed?) that Fausto has been stealing from Eugenio's company (just like he stole from his father's company.)

And IIRC, Eugenio asked Amparo to cater his b-day dinner at his house.

Thanks again, Darcy, for the recap and for starting up the conversation!

Thanks, Jarifa. ITA Angel is adorable, a "big friendly golden retriever" of a guy. I'm guessing our golden retriever is going show us his fangs though when Ana Sofi goes too far. I appreciate all the detailing. I never expected this TN to have such nuance.

Wondering what act (or lie?) made Celeste cut herself off from her brother.

I'm putting Mati in the "misery loves company" boat. What has having sex before 15 done for her? Rayo, rightfully, pointed out Braulio's controlling ways, but this chick friend of hers is controlling too. Time for you to have sex, live secretly in a rich person's house, don't let Celeste tell you what to do. Mati, aw shut up!

Looking forward to Flavio discovering Jero and Ester are roomates

Camino

Thanks everyone for your comments and thanks RGV Chick for filling in the missing deets. I got distracted and since I was watching live I couldn't rewind like I normally do when recapping. LOL

Waterlily - I agree it's surprising that Isa knew what adoption was or completely understood. I too thought she was too young for that devastated reaction.

Liz - I had no idea what niece and uncle were saying because I was too distracted by their weird body language to pay attention but I don't think they are lovers or anything like that - I just think that Macario is a sleaze.

RGV chick - 'Jackass' is a favorite of mine. It was one of my mom's too but she refused to cuss at all so she would say 'Jack-donkey' or just 'Donkey' because of course we all know a donkey is a jack-ass. She was so funny!

Mexicana and OT

Jan and SpanProf, thank you for your kind words.

Jan, recaps can serve multiple purposes. They are most often a springboard for discussions, but they can also be a great help for those who miss an episode or several.

Two or three years ago I watched a rebroadcast of La que no podía amar, mostly to see Ana Brenda Contreras who was my telenovia at the time. Fortunately this novela had had an excellent patio a few years earlier when it was first aired. The recaps and comments were invaluable as we didn't have many watching the rebroadcast. From the earlier comments I learned that the patio had dubbed Ana Brenda as "Cupcake". This definitely worked for me and I thereafter always called her Cupcake.
We were lucky enough to have then Caray regular, Anita, join our little daytime patio because she was a great fan of La que no podía amar and Jorge Salinas in particular.
I was a much less enthusiastic fan of the novela, largely because I didn't so much like Jorge Salinas' character. Not his fault, he was an actor, not the writer, and I don't blame him, but...

Poor Anita died sometime later and those of us who "knew" her still miss her.

Anyway, recaps can be a great help for several reasons.

I hope Diana is resting up after the "holiday".

[The following comments definitely and explicitly do NOT apply to any women who now come to Caray, or ever have, or are in any way related to any woman who has ever stumbled upon Caray, and are also meant as appreciation and certainly NOT any sort of criticism]:

Some women take holidays, especially 'family' holidays, way too seriously and make themselves and others close to them (especially male "others") absolutely crazy for a time.

(The Devil forced me to say this and I completely and forcefully repudiate this heretical idea. And let us never discuss housecleaning.)

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa,

Andy

Thanks, Darcy. I'm still trying to learn the lay of the land and learn who's who. Your double recap is helpful and so much fun.

Dani was a hoot getting tipsy on that milky drink and Jero was a hoot trying to get her to take it easy on the drinking.

I hope Isa asks Dani about being adopted and doesn't keep this to herself. Dani will let her know how special and loved she is.

Looking forward to Augusto's birthday bash.

Jarifa, thank you so much for all the details .

Ana Sophia is a hoot sprinkling an English word into her bubbling babbling now and then . She is super alone...probrecita. Vapid little fluff. Mirna is annoying . She's an Ana wannabee. Poor Angel surrounded by these 2 fools and his poor dad and the business both declining. He needs an ally.

Hmmm...Laredo ....Cuca is there. Margarita came from there. The company car was left there.

It seems that Anna's father might want Angel's trucks for transporting something illegal. I think Braulio is working for him .

I hope Rayo can break free of Mati's bad influence . Poor Rayo seems to go from the frying pan into the fire . If only Celeste had taken her under her wing sooner .

I hope Eric moves into the complex soon.

Flavia will have a hissyfit when she discovers Esther is leaving the

Jarifa, thank you for your exceptional recaps for Wednesday’s and Friday’s episodes.

“Notes from the kitchen . . . )” undoubtedly included aromatic baking as well as these clever, engrossing summaries.

"Sometimes life sends us situations that are so awful, we have to adapt to our priorities and push whatever we wanted aside." (This scene should be a PSA for birth control)” was among my favorites. I agree with Niecie that “Braulio gives him that dead fisheye look that he is so good at” was perfect.

“As Ester and Celeste gang up on Julia, Rayo asks if they have always fought like this” was an excellent question. There are small disagreements in even the best of friendships, but the fissures in our main fearsome four’s friendship have morphed into fractures. No one seems blameless. As Margarita is not here to defend herself, we are left wondering if she made some misguided mistakes without malice, or if she is guilty of what has been revealed thus far or is she worse? Rayo certainly pegged Braulio for who he is. I do think Rayo’s father is definitely among the characters we have already met.

Jero, a bit petulant and dense initially, has grown up quickly. Although hard, he made the right decisions in order to keep his sons in his life.

I have so many questions. There are so many missing threads. If Braulio isn’t in league with Santino already, I could see him doing as things continue to spiral downward Could Braulio be in league with Santino??

Jarifa, this was marvelous, thank you!

Diana

MEXICANA

Your Thanksgiving recaps were but another reason to give thanks this holiday season Andy. These “Andycaps” were truly marvelous.

I watched these late last night and was so glad I did! I must admit I cried during Dona Maty’s admission to Tyer that he isn’t “her biological son, but she loves him”. And Tyler calling her “mami” again truly tugged at the heartstrings. I was so happy to see she warned Tyler that Olika “'Poniendo los cuernos', she is cheating on you, sexually.”

I loved” Dulce thanks Andrea and says God bless her for this. Andrea says it would be enough if He simply forgave her sins. Dulce says 'What sins, a woman as good and nice as you?' Andrea just smiles knowingly” which was perfect.

Yes, Andrea and Maty certainly bicker and in a not so loving way. “Canija vieja, cómo la odio." 'Old canija, how I hate her” made me laugh.

I’m so appreciative you included that Olinka has ordered poison for Tyler. I completely missed that.

Tyler is being “schooled” and catching up quickly. Now he knows Gonzalo was behind the crash. Also, Katya is Gonzalo’s daughter among other things.

Helena’s unknowingly spoken “For her Gonzalo is as good as dead and buried” shows her true and honest feelings. I keep vacillating between thinking he is dead or suffering horribly somewhere. I’m not sure how I feel about Katya not knowing beforehand.

I also thought that something horrible was going to happen to Melody SpanProf. Sofia hid her bipolar disorder from Mario (not surprising). But with everything going on, Sofia clearly out of her mind, why didn’t Agustin tell Mario? Mario was exactly right in that so much could have been avoided!

I think Brandon will have a full recovery. Not only for himself, but especially for Helena and Rocio who have suffered so much (with more to come).

I will admit I liked Katya and Rodrigo together.

Six more episodes to go. Jan, I hope to see a few more late editions from you in the coming days. I enjoy them so!

Andy, you’ve outdone yourself. These were exceptional – wise, witty and wonderful. Thank you!

I plan to try and watch the double episode later tonight or tomorrow. Darcy, I am going to reread your amazing recap as I watch.

Your summary was thrilling - simply outstanding. I always feel as though I am reliving exactly what I watched. “Dani feels disappointed that she missed the opportunity to lap up the scraps Falso is supposedly willing to throw at her and Isa” is so sad but you captured that perfectly.

Interesting that it was Ursula who led Cesar into thieving. Thank you Rgv Chick!

The attraction between Dani and Memo seems genuine and sweet. I look forward to seeing how everything develops.

After reading this, I’m even more excited to watch. Thank you so much Darcy!

Diana

Mexicana. Welcome, back, Diana! Excellent comments as usual! I wonder if that "as good as dead and buried" is foreshadowing. I too was moved by Maty's (Brunilda's) and Tyler's interactions. For a while there, in preceding episodes, I had even thought she might believe that she was really his mother, but evidently she knows she is not--just loves him like a son.

Mexicana and OT

Diana and SpanProf, thanks for filling in extra details since I missed Friday's eppie. I appreciate all of your effort.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. As I wrote earlier, I do not have a DVR (I'm so outdated)

Am looking forward to tomorrow.

MEXICANA

Thanks for the warm welcome SpanProf and Jan.

SpanProf, Yes, Maty does love Tyler "like a son". I think he senses that. I'm glad he is realizing most had no malicious intent in signing on to be his family. He has already shown he trusts Mario implicitly.

Still, after Marcia nattered on about everyone else, I like that he looked her in the eye and told her he knew she and Luis were married. For once, Marcia seemed tongue tied. Glass houses, stones, etc., etc...

I don't have a DVR either Jan but for the moment, Univision is keeping up with current episode postings which is how I was able to watch.

I will do a recap for tomorrow's episode.

Diana

Mexicana

Diana! It's so nice to have you back, I missed you! And thank you for your kind comments.

Doña Maty has been one of the brightest stars in this novela right from the start with her Margaritas and then everything else. She was always playing against Andrea, and winning. When she wanted a raise she threatened to go to her son, "Tráiler", and when Andrea resisted she called for out loud for him, "Tráiler!", and Andrea caved.
There were multiple times when Andrea or Chabela remarked that the old biddy really thought she was Tyler's mother.

I think she both thought that because she so liked Tyler and also after a while it just became a somewhat natural thing. She also knew better, but she stayed in character so well that perhaps she started to believe just what she would have liked to believe.

And, yes, she was always battling with Andrea. They are rather testy with each other but I don't believe for a minute that they truly dislike each other, and their battles are great fun. We will see soon, I hope.

In some ways, especially when discussing characters, this novela presents challenges similar to those posed by "a play within a play".

It's no secret that I really like this novela, and I think all the characters have done a great job, but of course some characters are more interesting than others, and Jacqueline Andere's "Matilde" really shines.

Six episodes to go. Diana, SpanProf, Jan, and lurkers, prepare to fasten your seat belts, we are coming in for a landing.

Andy

Camino

Darcy, thank you for your excellent retelling which made everything clear to me.

Who is Rayo's father ? Braulio ? He certainly doesn't seem to want to take responsibility for helping her in any way. How did Celeste end up with this selfish guy ? I bet he made up lies about her brother. He seems to be the type of guy who wants to separate her from other people so that he can control and manipulate her. ugh.

Mexicana

Andy, Dona Maty is great for all the reasons you mentioned. And every episode when I see her with her Margaritas, I smile. For me, it never gets old.

I think Andrea and Maty share several characteristics. First, both are passionate women and fierce in their determination and beliefs. They are stubborn beyond belief. But both have a heart although Maty has a greater sense of right vs. wrong.

I like that I am constantly surprised by things I least expect. The characters seem real and their strengths, weaknesses, courage and foibles are all too "human".

Many threads to be unraveled...right now, the biggest mystery to me is: Gonzalo. Dead or alive???

And "fasten your seat belts" is right! As Bette Davis said "it's going to be a bumpy night". Nights :)

Good day!

I would like to officially nominate Andy to the Caray, Caray! Hall of Fame for this gem: Olinka slinksa into Tyler's bedroom.

Sheer bloody poetry! I have been enjoying this series quite a bit and looking forward to resolution in the final capítulos.

Forgive me if this has been discussed, but how in the world did Doña Maty turn Tyler’s name into “Trailer” and “Boilercito” interchangeably? I love her affection for el gringo vende papas.

It’s odd to watch Brandón on the brink of mobility at the same time he is humble and on full display in Mi Camino es Amarte.

Katya & Rodrigo may not be a perfect match, but they sure are purdy. I’m also rooting for another imperfect match, Luis & his chismosa Marciuca.

I was surprised to see Dra. Mónica Traven pop up since it was Amores Verdaderos that brought me to the patio in the first place.

Thanks to all the recappers for your tremendous work and posters for your insightful commentary. I have been coming here off and on for years. Please keep up the good work!

Here is hoping everyone’s weekend was as good as mine! My Xmas decorations and tree are up, a bottle of egg nog is in the frig and I am nibbling on some peppermint bark already. Anyway, I cannot wait to see what awaits our novela characters this week!

waterlily, yep, Lenar is a hard one. Besides Jero, Donato seems too good for her. Run, Donato, run!

Niecie, as for “nuance” I have been as surprised as you. I hope that Rayo is strong enough and has enough support to resist Mati’s siren call. She is bad news.

Susanlynn, “Vapid little fluff” is a perfect description of Ana Sofi not that there is anything wrong with that . . . LOL We definitely need more Erik.

Diana, I actually felt sorry for Misael and his situation and him not being honest with Julia from the start. That was a great question about with what or with whom Braulio could be involved. Would that not be convenient for Santino to have somebody placed inside of Funes?

I cannot wait until tonight!

Mexicana. Welcome aboard, O. Slinka!

Mexicana

O.S., welcome! And thank you for your kind words and for the laughs. Since you have been coming to Caray off and on for a while I'm sure you know it's a very friendly place with very friendly regulars. Hopefully you'll become a regular yourself.

I think that our doña Maty, who was much more tipsy in earlier episodes, just confusedly substituted "Tráiler", (trailer, as in tractor-trailer) for "Tyler". As for "Boiler", I have no idea.

Yeah, Brandon, aka Omar, aka whatever, seems to be everywhere these days.

I am very definitely looking forward to today's episode. There is so much to clear up and wrap up and only a few episodes left, and it seems to be a telenovela custom to introduce a few new ideas close to the end instead of just tying up the loose strings.

Diana, I like your comparison of Maty and Andrea, and also 'The characters seem real and their strengths, weaknesses, courage and foibles are all too "human".' Definitely!

I'm not so concerned with Gonzalo, though. Poor Gonzalo was a disappointment, and is paying for his sins to one extent or another. I just hope that there is no further harm to his family.

I'm hoping for an especially nice HEA for Erika; and I expect one for Marcia and Luis. We'll see what else shakes out   :-)

Mexicana #122 Part 1

My thoughts on today’s episode. Kindly fill in what I missed and/or correct any mistakes I made.

Tyler wakes up and Olinka is next to him in bed! What are you doing here he asks??? “You are pathetic” he says, and I guess that’s enough to get Olinka to get up and git. She bangs on the door after she leaves and calls him an imbecile. Andrea and Chabela enjoy the show from the hallway and cackle away.

Mario and Augustin continue to commiserate about Sofia who is still in the operating room. Augustin’s eyes are moist as he cries. Dr. Traven comes out and has good news. They are both grateful and Augustin asks Mario if he can hug him, and he does. Later, her father does reproach her. He says Gladys is a sweet girl and Melody cares about her.

Tyler advises Dona Maty and Jaime he has something for them to do and says they need to act normally and be discreet.

Where is my daughter Sofia asks from her hospital bed? She has a collar around her neck and her leg is in some type of cast. At the house Mario says. We later see Mario and Melody with Gladys. All looking happy and having a lot of fun. Plenty of kisses for the princess and baby in waiting. Cute group hug.

Helena is at Brandon’s bedside as he sleeps. Rocio comes in and says something about Gonzalo. Good morning my love Helena says. Megan calls via video and Brandon says good morning very sweetly. However, her poison tongue takes over and she starts in like the whiny little brat she is – so Helena hangs up on her!

Vilyeri, wearing an old school batman “wow” sequined tee shirt is with Katya. Katya seems to tell her she and Rod are in a relationship.

Olinka enters Tyler’s office waving a white handkerchief and Rodrigo leaves. I’m sorry Olinka purrs, te amo. Tyler sits there with his arms folded not believing a word. She was worried about being thrown out of the finca which he doesn’t seem to do.

Rodrigo has a glass of juice as he recalls kissing Katya, wearing a smile as he gives himself a gentle beard scratch.

Diana

Mexicana #122 Part 2

Olinka gets a package. Thanks to Andy explaining she ordered poison; I suspect that is what it is. Olinka talks silently to herself and smiles wickedly. Then, monumental news! Apparently, Tyler has changed his will and is establishing a new foundation. Further, he gives Andrea a grant of 10 million dollars to run it! There is a toast to the foundation, but after a few bites, Olinka takes her leave, package in hand.

Olinka slams into Rene’s office. She is crazed about the foundation grant being given to Andrea. She smashes the bottle of whatever she got on the floor. Rene pours her a stiff drink. Zulema comes in and Rene chases her out telling her not to interrupt. She watches from behind the door as they kiss.

Later, Tyler, Andrea, Dona Maty and Jaime meet with the notary. Andrea has pen in hand poised to sign, then turns around and looks at Tyler. He tells her to go ahead, so she signs. Next Mati signs as does Jaime. Andrea seems to have reservations, but she forges ahead. The shares are in your name, Tyler says. They talk a bit which I didn’t understand, and they are interrupted by a phone call. Is there a problem she asks? It is about Melody, and they rush out.

Brandon’s doctor seems to indicate he will recuperate. A kiss from Helena and relieved smiles.

Diego graduates with handshakes and a newly minted diploma. He has his own cheering section including Sebastian, Katya and Rodrigo and Ignacio and Paulina. Speeches and champagne are offered. Katya hugs Diego AND Sebastian. His big present is the signed divorce papers. You are free Katya tells him (finally the patio mutters). Congratulations. Ignacio announces he and Paulina are novios! Paulina looks so pretty with her hair down.

Augustin tells Sofia he is getting her a specialist. “Blah, blah, blah” she retorts and cries she wants Mario back home! Augustin tells her that is not going to happen. Mario is happy but not with her – she needs to divorce him.

Zulema walks in as Rene is holding a pistol. I believe she tells him she is done. With both business. And pleasure (shudder). As she talks, obviously heartbroken, he stares and says goodbye, stone faced. After she closes the door, he looks up, perhaps realizing what he just lost.

Katya visits Brandon. She hands Helena a check to help with the medical expenses. Brandon, in an orange hand knitted cap, stares bug eyed. Helena is shocked at the amount and tries to give it back. No Katya says.

Rodrigo and Tyler talk about Andrea and Olinka. Tyler says something about his fortune…Tyler asks if he is in love with Katya! No he says but smiles. Tyler realizes the truth. If only he’d been as astute about other things!

We end with Olinka and Andrea fighting as Andrea literally goes for the jugular, strangling her!!

Diana

Mexicana

Diana, thank you for yet another great recap! This one was especially nice.

Re Tyler's asking Olinka to leave, "Andrea and Chabela enjoy the show from the hallway and cackle away." They were so funny! First Chabela blocking the door so Andrea couldn't go do something silly, and then the two of them enjoying Olinka's very rough fit of pique in the hallway. They were like two cartoon characters. And cackle they did.

The package was Olinka's poison, but it was of no use once Tráiler changed his will so that Andrea is no longer his sole heir, but rather the whole family.
I very much liked Tyler's asking Chabela to join the toast for the new foundation. Chabela is easily the hardest working person at the finca, perhaps the only person who lives at the finca and actually works. She looked like she appreciated being asked to join in the toast.

Some good news for Brandon! Katya and Viiyéri's fund has gotten a lot of money, enough to pay all the hospital expenses handily. I suspect members of The Family and Rodrigo contributed quite a lot.
And the doctor told him that there is no neurological problem with his legs and he should be able to walk after some considerable therapy.
I don't know if this makes any sense as he had no sensation in his legs the day before, but modern telenovela medicine is just wonderful.

I almost didn't recognize Paulina at Diego's graduation, but she was very pretty. She always is, but a little differently this time.
And Diego is now a Licenciado!!
Paulina and Ignacio! One more couple accounted for; we are getting there.

Zulema! Would Zulema actually give up on René? I find that hard to believe, but she did more than just see him smooching with Olinka, I think she overheard some very nasty plans.
Still, I'll believe that she would give up on him when I see it.

Nasty, nasty Olinka really ticked off Andrea when she said that now Katya was worth ten million dollars. Andrea did not take this implicit threat calmly. Catfight! Yay!

Andy

WEST COAST EDITION

This is just a tease, not a recap (And this writer missed Friday's show)

Tyler and Olinka are seen in bed. Tyler says to her: Por favor, esto es absurdo." That is, please this is absurd.

Mario and Sofia's dad are in a waiting room at the hospital. Mario shows him pictures of Melody. He realizes that Mario is not the bad guy that he was portrayed as being. (probably old news) Sophia's bipolarism is the real culprit. Peaceful music plays in the background. Mario and Sofia's dad embrace.

Tyler to Dona Mati: "Jaimito ya sabe la verdad. That is, Don Jaime knows the truth.

Viyeri and Katya are outside Brandon's hospital room. Katya(?) says that Diego donated 10,000 pesos towards Brandon's go-fund-me.

And that's your daily tease.

Journeyman Jan

MEXICANA

Andy, thank you for your very kind and generous words and support.

I so appreciate “Tráiler changed his will so that Andrea is no longer his sole heir, but rather the whole family.” This was so important and something I did not understand.

To be honest, Chabela was also on my mind tonight. Prepares three meals and endless drinks for a multitude and does it seamlessly. Does she do all the housework, laundry, and gardening too?? What a woman!

I laughed at “modern telenovela medicine is just wonderful” but in truth, am very relieved Brandon will recover, especially for Helena and Rocio’s sake.

I think Zulema took a powder and is gone for good but could be very wrong!

I’ve no doubt Olinka is very capable of murder…Andrea has reason to be concerned.

Jan, “Mario and Sofia's dad are in a waiting room at the hospital. Mario shows him pictures of Melody. He realizes that Mario is not the bad guy that he was portrayed as being. (probably old news) Sophia's bipolarism is the real culprit. Peaceful music plays in the background. Mario and Sofia's dad embrace” was marvelous – thank you.

I will put up something tomorrow too.

I STILL have no idea how this will end!! 😊

Mexicana

Diana and Andy, thank you for your detailed posts. I read them AFTER I write the WEST Coast edition. Otherwise it is too much. I'm doing what I can, and the plot is ever thickening...

Yes Chabela is a very impressive woman doing it all.

I believe in the interaction with Ignacio and Paulina that they stated that they were living together (am I wrong?)

Yes Andy, Olinka ordered poison; she claimed that it was perfume when someone, maybe Katya, asked what was in the package. Guess it wasn't too deadly for Rene and Olinka as Olinka slammed it on the ground.

Time to fly.

Mexicana

Jan, thanks so much!

As I noted, your recaps are so much fun and are very observant. I can't say if Ignacio and Paulina said they were living together, I assumed they said they were together but now, am not sure.

I appreciate your astute observations.

Your comment on the perfume "Guess it wasn't too deadly for Rene and Olinka as Olinka slammed it on the ground" mirrored exactly what I thought. I did think it probably needed to make contact with skin to be effective, so I hope whoever has to clean all the mess up doesn't touch it.

Diana and Jan, I have a few short comments on the new page.

I always get confused which page to use right around the time for a new page to start.
