Claudia is so pleased with Dani's work that she asks Dani to work on their beach house. When Claudia asks if they can go the next day, Dani quickly agrees but Memo has other plans and can't go. Dani assures Claudia that they will work something out.
JuanPa wants to work at the restaurant with Gaby! Sweeeet!
Dani assumes that Memo's plans include his novia. Memo confirms but offers to talk to Ursula and will let Dani know what Ursula says (he's going to ask permission! LOL )
Fausto sees Memo playing with Isa. Daggers shootout of his eyes!
Lupita goes to see Sebas who has a surprise for her.
Homero remembers when Amparo was head over heels for Macario. Amparo no longer feels that way ( and we certainly can't blame her! Amparo shares that she really wanted to write the recipe book as a homage to her mother.
Sebas gives Lupita her surprise. His father talked to some attorney friends and they are gong to allow her to do her practicum in their offices. she will need to go twice a week. Lupita is muy grateful!
Fausto tells Isa that she shouldn't play with Memo because he is supposed to be working. He actually plays with her...and tricks her into getting a phone as part of the game! Another oh noes!!
Homero talks to Mac and reminds him what a good mother Amparo is...and suggests that he support Amparo in her wish to write the recipe book...it is his duty as a husband. If Mac supports Amparo, things will improve between them...if not, he will lose her fer sure.
Isa goes running to Memo and asks to use his cell phone...as part of her game. And he gives her his passcode! Oh noes!
Mc tells Amparo that he wants her to go ahead with her book.
Isa goes back to Fausto with Memo's phone...and Fausto offers to return it to Memo. Fausto quickly goes to Memo and gives him the phone....he has erased the video! Dani approaches and asks what they are talking about. Memo tells her that they were talking about the assault.
Sebas finally kisses Lupita! He tells her it was awesome but Lupita runs off after telling him to forget it!
Notes from the couch . . . a little of this and little of that . . . and a new mystery
The episode starts with this quote: "There are always people who can get us to believe their promises even when they have no intention of fulfilling them." It ends with "They say that when we trust words more than deeds, it is because human beings, deep down, have the need to believe whatever is said is true." (Hmm . . . I wonder who they are referring to. One person? More than one?)
CHEPINA talks about her ex-husband in the flashback. He talked a lot but did nothing to back up what he said. She thinks that Rodolfo is the opposite. She helped him care for her sister and continued living in the household after she died.
In the present, she insists that her internet novio is real. She goes to meet him the next day at the airport. He never shows. Gina researched his photo on the internet and it turns out that he is legendary for defrauding women over the world. Chepina admits to feeling so stupid after having sent him ALL of the money that had accumulated for Julia's debt. Julia is not angry with her but emphasizes how careful one has to be on the internet. PSA time. Julia asks Flavia for more time to pay her debt. Flavia gives her two days. If she doesn't pay, she will have to think about suing her.
ANGEL meets with Santino who pulls no punches. Either he marries Ana Sofí or there will be no association with his company.
Braulio says if Angel doesn't feel like marrying Ana Sofí, he could look at it as a blessing or an advantage in terms of his company. He will be drawing up the association documents anyway.
Ester tells Braulio that Misael absconding with all that money must have contributed to the problems the company is having . She suggests they file theft charges against him. He makes it clear that it is none of her business and she will take his advice if she wants to keep her job. Later, she comes into Angel's office when Braulio is there to give Angel some papers. She asks how Celeste is doing. He says fine. After she leaves, Braulio complains what a busy body she is. Didn't Angel notice? No, he didn't. He considers her a great acquisition for the company. Angel is preoccupied with the choice he has to make.
Angel tries to give Santino his decision later but Santino is too much in a rush to attend a social event with Ana Sofí to hear it. Angel tells Braulio about his dilemma.
Chuchita talks Memo into taking her to see Leo at the restaurant.
Gaby asks Amparo if she can go out with JuanPa. Nice try, but nopis!
Karen shows up at Dani's house. When alone, Fausto tells her that he was successful in getting rid of the video. He pulls her in to his office slobbering with kisses and closes the door!
Ursula is NOT happy about Memo telling her that he has to work the next day. She storms out after telling him to do whatever he wants!
Dani knocks on Fausto's door asking that he open it.
Memo is telling Leo about ow Fausto erased the video and threatened to get them out of their place. When Memo tells Leo that he doesn't like Isa living with that man...and sometimes he feels like taking his daughter out of there, Amparo overhears and asks What daughter are you talking about?
Fausto quickly zips up and hides Karen. When he opens the door, he tells Dani he was organizing the safe; and Dani believes him. (EYE ROLL!!) When Dani asks for Karen, Fausto feigns ignorance.
Leo and Memo try to make up some story, but Amparo doesn't by it because she is sure of what she heard; so Memo fesses up and tells her that Isa is his daughter.
Dani tells Fausto and Karen about going to Claudia's beach house. When Karen asks if her assistant is going with her, Fausto tells Dani that Memo is not the assistant she needs and she should fire him! Dani defends Memo and tells Fausto that keeping Memo on is her decision...and reminds him of how Memo saved her from the assault.
Memo explains to Amparo how he found out about Isa. When they tell her about the DNA test, Amparo is excited...she wants to celebrate and tell everyone!! Memo tells her they should keep quiet for Isa's sake--they can't just announce to Isa that Memo is her father. After Amparo understands and agrees, they group hug...and Mac suddenly enters and wonders why they are hugging.
Karen suggests to Fausto that since Dani will be away all day the next day, they can spend the day together.
Memo tells Mac that they were discussing the book Amparo will work on and they were remembering their mamacita.
While Leo sings to Chuchita, Homero tells Amparo how glad he is that Mac is supporting her. Amparo scoffs, she knows that Homero talked to Mac...and suggests that Homero should support Leo too.
Ursula has cooled down enough to return. Memo invites her to go with him and Dani to the beach house! That will be interesting and fun! NOT!!
Lupita watches as Gaby and JuanPa say their lovey-dovey good-byes. When they disengage from their lip lock, Lupita questions why Sebas is helping her so much. Gaby tells her that Sebas just likes her a lot. When Gaby asks JuanPa to confirm, JuanPa prefers not to opine. Lupita wonders why JuanPa remained silent.
Alone with Memo, Amparo is still excited that such a wonderful little girl is his daughter. Amparo now understands why Memo is working for Dani--to be close to Chavelita. When Amparo asks when he will tell everyone, Memo replies that he needs to keep that secret a while longer...and Ursula overhears!! Ursula quickly makes her presences known...she knew he was keeping a big and delicate secret from her and demands that he tell her RIGHT NOW!!! Beard scratching ensues...
MIRNA is all for the deal with Santino but then might not be because she could end up taking care of Homero permanently if Angel is busy with his new family. Angel tells her her problem is that she is doing NOTHING with her life.
FLAVIA is shocked by Max's decision. She reminds him that he said they would be forever together when they got married. Max says he isn't talking about divorce. He only wants them to separate so they can clarify their relationship. Flavia says she still loves him. He walks away.
Teo arrives and doesn't see why she is so upset. He sees it as his parents taking a break so they can fix their issues. Flavia attacks him for not caring about her and insisting he is treating her the way he is because he is hanging around with THAT girl (Rayo). Teo defends himself and tRayo. They end up screaming at each other. He goes to escape to his room as she sends him to his room. (Here is hoping that Max takes Teo with him)
JERO's ex and sons come to visit him at his new place unannounced. They are surprised to meet Ester. They all seem to get along. Ester tells them about Iván.
The next day at the laundry, Donato asks Lenar why she is in such a bad mood. Adair explains that last night they met Jero's new girlfriend and she wasn't bad at all! Lenar goes after him for that remark. Donato asks her if she is maybe feeling jealous. She says not at all but is complaining because JERO made such a big deal about their relationship and two seconds later, he found someone new. Donato doesn't look convinced(and I am not either.)
Flavia like Jero's cooking. (Too Bad)
When Jero tells Ester about the job offer from Flavia, she warns him that nothing with Flavia is ever straight forward. She always has an angle.
RAYO is still being pressured by Mati to complete her challenge with Teo.
Braulio explains to Rayo that when they traced her mother's phone they found out that the person who has it is traveling all over. Either they are on vacation or are fleeing from the law. Rayo thanks him for investigating. She asks what will happen to her when Celeste comes back and her time has run out. Braulio says he will not throw her out on the street but he will find something more suitable for her. He explains that he cannot adopt her because Celeste needs peace and quiet between her illness and the baby. He says Rayo is mature and he hopes she understands. It is nothing personal. Rayo thanks him for telling her the truth.
Rayo talks to Celeste who thinks they still can talk Braulio into giving her more time at the house. He is not a monster. She also promises that she and Rayo will celebrate her birthday when she gets out of the hospital.
Right when Teo wants to talk about the kiss they had, Gina appears to get them both over to her house. When Rayo arrives, she sees everyone from the neighborhood is there and are throwing her a quince party. Ariel has brought her a newly designed pink dress for her to wear. She dances her waltz with Teo. Julia gives her a special gift. It is from her mother. It turns out that the gift is the red patent leather combat boots that she told her mother she wanted. Margarita didn't like them at all but bought them for Rayo ahead of tine for her birthday. She gave them to Julia to keep so Ray would be surprised. Rayo cries as everyone gives her a big group hug. Shortly after, everyone's dancing except for Rodolfo who is dozing all comfy on the couch.m(he evidently knows the value of a good couch! LOL)
While the party is going on, Flavia is looking for her son. One of the local busybodies tells her that they saw him going into Celeste's apartment.
In the meantime, Mati and her minions are hanging out on the steps of one of the apartment buildings trying to get Rayo to come out to hang with them. She isn't answering the texts. Suddenly, three adults appear. One woman of the group says they are from family services. They are looking for Rayo. They know she is alone, a minor and an orphan. They ask Mati and company to please tell them where she is. Mati and her crew are not talking.
DANNY is upset with his mother and Angel. They said they were going to work together to find his dad and they are not doing that. He calls Angel on Julia's cellphone and complains to him about the same thing. He invites him to come to the party and for some cake. Angel shows up with a smile on his face.
ESTER gets a text from the tech guy looking into Iván's social network. He managed to access Iván's Amibuk page and copy some messages before he was kicked out of the system. The messages were part of a chat between Iván and a Margarita. That is puzzling to Ester. (that is something I never expected)
Please feel free to add anything I left out.
Another stellar recap Rgv Chick! It was all wonderful but “When they disengage from their lip lock” and “Beard scratching ensues...” were among my favorites.
“Memo confirms but offers to talk to Ursula and will let Dani know what Ursula says (he's going to ask permission! LOL)” was exactly right and made me smile. He must not have heard the expression it’s better to ask forgiveness than permission.
Using a child for any nefarious purpose is repulsive, but even more so when it is a parent. Watching Fausto playing with his “star girl” in a seemingly adoring manner while he grimaced with unconcealed disdain behind her back was hard to watch. So much for the incriminating video. But viewerville isn’t surprised; we expected as much!
Macario was laying it on a bit thick, wasn’t he? He was wrapped around Amparo’s shoulders tighter than a mink stole! Then, he tells her it’s all right to proceed with her cookbook? How magnanimous. Blech.
Amparo was so excited by Isabella! And of course, Macario shows up like a homing pigeon, sensing something is up. Whatever will Memo tell the belligerent, angry Ursula, huffing and puffing that she wants the truth now?
Gaby made me smile with her impatience with the customer’s order! She and JuanPa are a great couple. Have to give Sebas credit – he is doing everything he can to impress Lupita!
Well tomorrow should be an interesting outing! Dani and Ursula are about as different as two women can be. Fireworks are sure to follow!
Diana
Jarifa, this was a thoughtful and pivotal episode that you handled with your usual insight and wisdom.
I’m so glad you included "They say that when we trust words more than deeds, it is because human beings, deep down, have the need to believe whatever is said is true”. I have to agree with that. We shouldn’t, but we do. It’s human nature.
“Flavia likes Jero's cooking. (Too Bad)” had me smiling away. (Braulio) “is not a monster” had me questioning the veracity of that statement!
I was also surprised and perplexed at the Ivan/Margarita texts. I can’t even speculate as to what on earth they would be going back and forth on.
“FLAVIA is shocked by Max's decision” but shouldn’t have been. Ester has said Max did not seek out Ivan after their divorce but Max also seems to be emotionally unavailable and distant to Flavia and to Teo. I do not see hope for them as Flavia is an unkind, unfeeling shrew.
The party for Rayo was sweet as was her flashback to Margarita’s reaction to the shoes Rayo wanted as “horrible”.
The most touching moment for me was Ester meeting Lenar, Ebe and Adair. Ester spoke haltingly but lovingly about Ivan and her grief clearly touched and resonated with them. Perhaps a foreshadowing of a happy future with them as part of Ester’s life.
Poor Chepina! And whatever is Angel going to do?? So many questions, so few answers.
Thank you Jarifa!
Diana
How about some notes?
The first Sebastián wasn’t very likeable. I’ve gotten a kick out of watching 2.O’s berrinches and taming of Lolita. Thanks, Jan. He definitely was in “usted” mode and ironically not having Lolita’s intolerance. I also love how his primo Nacho had him saved in his phone as “Pepenche” which he’s consistently called him from the beginning. More irony, I believe a “Pepenche” is a spoiled guy or a guy with a sugar momma (for lack of a better phrase). ‘Bastián was none of these.
SpanProf, help!
At the Mexican Gringo launch, I noticed immediately how GQ sharp Tyler was. Well the first thing I noticed was that Nacho Sr. is also the dad in Mi Camino Es Amarte. That’s neither here nor there. Apologies.
My second observation is why in the heck would any of these characters ever trust a helicopter again? The beanie got super tight during this cursi proposal. The fireworks and JumboTron-esque proposal were sweet, but really? Ok.
Moving on. I really hope I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure Gladys said she wasn’t drinking - not because she’s Prego. Not because of fetal alcohol syndrome. Her abstinence was to prevent having a wine-colored baby. Anyone?
Two things about the René and Zulema reunion made me happy! 1. Andy got his wish. 2. The writers/prop masters outdid themselves with “Prison South.” Zulema May have finally grown a spine telling René effectively “You’re not the boss of me.” The spine evaporated quickly - only to be replaced by water works and the promise to wait 5 years.
Brandón treated everyone to lunch using his first paycheck/salary. I’m sad we’re ending as his knit caps have taken on a character of their own. The dialogue here was cute. Kat invites her biological/extended family to be in her wedding. Brandón is reluctant at first, not wanting to “dress like a penguin,” but that’s overridden by his desire to make his big sister happy. Aw. Kat says seeing her family reunited on her wedding day will make her 4OO.OOO% happy. She can’t stop. All of the sweetness ends abruptly when we learn Gonzalo is now Deadpool without superpowers or a home.
I liked seeing the (same) judge @ Maty & Jaime’s wedding.
Next we’re off to another chapel. More conspicuous than the Great Sebastián Swap of 2O22: Andrea’s hair has grown exponentially.
Then main cast is in full glam mode. Helena is CKLASS®️ sensational. No knit cap for Brandón. I believe everyone is present except for Sofia and Erika. And the hedgehog.
Takeaways: everyone is invited to Maty & Jaime’s beach house. Other points have been covered. Andrea toasts a foundation which will help Mexican/US orphans reunite with their families or algo así.
Andrea surrenders to authorities. I believe this is for pre-Tráiler crimes. Didn’t she start the series scamming international investors over a fake head or some nonsense?!? Had I known them that I would be on the patio with Diana, Andy, Jan, SpanProf, etc., I would have paid more attention.
Reaching the finish line. Andrea is at “Prison North.” So inspired. Ya’ll covered this montage already. I’m mad intrigued by the Prison North’s Book of the Month: El amor en los tiempos del cólera. Patio, if Televisa buys the rights to this masterpiece and make a telenovela, will you join me on the patio? I have no idea what this, but I cannot wait!
We go from Prison North to Female Prison. Our heroine is finally free. Our galán has waited. Our beanies are getting tight again, but there is no time. There is also no Killiian.
FIN
Thanks for allowing me to share this journey.
O.S.
Thank you Rgv chick for paying attention to what I was watching! LOL Seriously though your recap is wonderful as always!! :)
Memo with Isa is so cute and the way he immediately gave her his phone and the password so she could play with it was so sweet. Too bad Falso is such a horrible human being. Though not surprising. But to use your own daughter in that way and then abandon 'playing' with her when you get what you need is a new low.....and poor Isa just happy that 'see Daddy does love me'! YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK.
I am getting tired of Ursula. She didn't bug too much in the beginning but now it's nag nag nag nag nag. Seriously, who would want to get married when you can't go a day without an argument already and you're only engaged??? And her eyeshadow is still bugging me too! LOL
Juanpa, what a dreamboat and Sebas is trying to score points. I like the way the actor is playing this character. He's all confidence but then just a little turned around when Lupita is near. Juanpa is wrong about his buddy and Sebas is crazy about that girl. It's really cute to watch!
I'm glad Amparo knows the truth about Isa!!! I wonder what 'truth' Memo will tell Ursa tonight to get her off his back?
Thanks, Rgv, Chick, another great recap. I was unsure of Lupita’s surprise, which is really a great one. Sebas is really trying to win her over. I think JuanPa must think it’s another conquest for Sebas. Hope he’s wrong!
Chuchoca sure switched crushes quickly! When she asked about going in the big truck I thought she wanted to be with Memo. Leo’s lawn serenade must have won her over.
Fausto was at his worse. Watching him with his daughter was torture. He couldn’t bring himself to give her a decent hug. And then being with Karen. How do they not get caught!
Memo’s secret is soon going to be general knowledge. I’m sure he’ll tell Ursula! Although Dani will probably be the last to know! And I’m not looking forward to the Sunday beach trip. I can’t picture the three of them together!
Hooray for Huberto, who managed to get Marcario to agree to the cookbook!
Loved JuanPa working with Gabi and Memo and Isabela. But things are moving fast and I think everything is going to be more intense!
Liz
Thanks, Jarifa, great recap. And special thanks for the quotes, I always no they’re saying something profound, but never get it!
Poor Chepina, but Julia handled it all with love and patience. And Flavia gives her two whole days to pay the money! Shrew was a good word for her, Diana!
The Fiesta for Rayo was so great. I’m so glad they all did that for her. The boot scene was touching.
I was surprised at how well Jero’s ex and sons handled meeting Ester. It had to have been a huge surprise to find him living with a woman! Lenar’s feelings after were pretty normal.
Braulio really wants Ester gone from the office. I thinks he’s worried she’ll discover something, which means he’s in on the accident/robbery. And he was being so nice to Rayo. Makes me think he’s the one that turned her in. Hopefully this will unite the friends to help her.
Liz
leenar confuses me. She wanted Geronimo to leave so she could start a new relationship. He did. But now she is upset he has a 'girlfriend' of his own. So what does she actually want? For Geronimo to stay alone forever because she might decide she is still in love with him? How can she be this selfish? Or is it something else that she wants? She doesn't make sure her child's school fees are paid, complains constantly about how everything was on her shoulders while Geronimo was away, gets jealous her ex has a new woman. What is it that Donato likes about her?
That scene with Rayo and those boots was so tragic. I rarely get upset watching telenovelas so it says a lot that I still remember this part and that it upset me.
What makes Celeste think Braulio would agree to adopt Rayo? Does he generally give her what she wants? Because I can't see any other reason for her to be so sure of this. And why was he upset when the doctor said Celeste will be fine and that they will give her meds that won't hurt the baby? Surely he doesn't want her to die. So is it the fact she could take a decision on her own and didn't have to agree with him in the end? Or is it that he doesn't want the child?
I wonder who would end up having to look after Homero if Mirna happened to be working. Angel then wouldn't have a reason to expect her to be the one to look after their father.
It's somehow funny to me Teo is so reasonable. Good for him. Otherwise Flaviawould use him to manipulate Maximo. I can already see the whole scene of 'mum said you no longer love her and it's all your fault.' But Maybe Teo is too old for this. But then again, Leenar's sons blamed Geronimo for everything and this doesn't just happen.
Why Memo wasn't the least bit suspicious when Isabela asked for his phone. The guy should have been more alert. Fausto's threats aren't empty. Memo just looks pretty stupid here.
Why doesn't Homero support Leo? That seems unfair. Or does he think his sons have to want to be truck drivers and can't have other plans. It's a good thing Amparo is interested in cooking, which isn't that risky and just what you'd expect. I wonder what he'd have said if she had told him she wanted to be a singer or a dancer.
Macario is stupid if he thinks his permission means anything. His wife will do whatever she wants and thank God. It'salways so funny to me when men believe their permission is required.
O/T Has any of you seen Amor dividido?
Diana, I so agree about that touching scene between Ester and Jero and his family where she talked about her son. It was so well done. It seems every episode has a new twist and turn. Now there are those messages between Iván and Margarita. I hope we find out tonight what those were about. Braulio not a monster? I fear the quotes bracketing the episode were written about him.
Liz, Julia handled the Chepina situation so much kinder than I would have imagined. It sure showed another side of her. I think you are onto something with Braulio wanting Ester out of the Funes company. He’s showing himself to be a real snake.
Waterlily, yes, that telltale look of disappointment on Braulio’s face when the doctor said that Celeste could be treated with no risk to the baby was sickening and a dead give away.
Also, I think that Donato was right to be concerned about Lenar’s reaction to Jero having a girlfriend. If she were really over him, why would she care?
O.S., your comments were just marvelous. I laughed at “why in the heck would any of these characters ever trust a helicopter again? The beanie got super tight during this cursi proposal” which was exactly right.
“More conspicuous than the Great Sebastián Swap of 2O22: Andrea’s hair has grown exponentially” and finally “there is no time. There is also no Killiian” were gems all.
O.S. I hope you enjoy recapping as much as we enjoy reading your excellent remarks. Please consider recapping, your voice would be such a wonderful addition!
Diana
Thanks, Rgv Chick. "Beard scratching ensues..." - Ha! I find myself counting scratches each episode.
Fausto is some piece of work. He is jealous of Isa enjoying Memo's company, yet he's cold to her, only faking "love" when he wants something. I'm surprised he's not jealous of Dani with Memo. I guess he thinks a trucker couldn't possibly be competition there.
I'm sure Amparo will keep mum about Isa to Macario. But still I can see her arranging more play dates for Isa and Chema.
I've enjoyed Alberto Estrella in so many, mostly villain, roles (Susanlynn, I missed Pasion). Mac makes me laugh, with his rotten self. I got a kick out of him the other day when Amparo was setting the girls straight and he jumped in to back her and she said "I got this" and he backed out.
Thank you, everyone for your kind comments filled with insight. I’m at the dr’s office right now so can’t take too much time. Doubt I will be back since my eyes will be getting dilated 😣
Keep talkin’ !
Thanks, Jarifa. I’m loving these mysteries.
Hmmm, what would Ivan and Margarita be texting each other about? Margarita seems to have been a good person, but one who bent the truth and rules in order to skirt obstacles.
The party for Rayo was heart-warming. So sweet. And the dress, realistic when Rayo pulled up the spaghetti straps higher. Ariel and Erik moved into the building just in time.
Who called the social workers, Braulio or Flavia? I'm favoring Flavia because I think she's super-anxious to get Rayo out of there after that kiss with Teo.
I can see the boys going to visit Jero in his new place, but there was no reason for Lenar to come, the nosey rosey. I hope Jero refuses to discuss with Lenar his relationship with Ester. It's none of her business. Lenar, just keep living in the house and working in the laundry that Jero made possible and butt out.
Jarifa, I was so happy to read your excellent recap. I will not be able to watch the telenovelas for awhile, so recaps are the only way I can keep up with these stories . Thank you so much !!!!
This episode was fast moving ! I am so happy that Rayo got her party and the last gift from her mother . I saw it in my imagination. i wish i could have seen the gown Ariel made her. The neighbors finally seem to be rallying around Rayo. At least sketchy Mati did not tell social services where Rayo was.
Braulio seems to be a villain in every way . He sees Celeste as a possession and has no compassion for Rayo. .He is up to something sneaky with the company.
Ha Lenar didn't want Jer until some other mujer seemed interested in him.
Wow, Flavia is losing control over Max, Teo, and her little kingdom. She is sure to retaliate against Esther and Jer for tricking her.
I thought Chepita was Rudolfos sister , but I guess she is his sister in law.
I can't do notes tonight but will be happy to do them for tomorrow, Wednesday (unless anyone had their heart set on doing them :)
Rgv Chick, hope your eye appointment goes well!
Diana
Chick, thank you so much. I will not be able to watch the Telenovekas for awhile unless I can d be them on YouTube or online somewhere , so I will especially appreciate the recaps.
Yikes ...suddenly everyone is finding out that Isa is Memo's daughter.
Well, the show has ended and my thoughts re the ending are on the previous PrimeTime page. (Basically OK ending, but not quite as good as most of the show's run.)
It has been a fun ride and I hope to see you all again soon, especially newcomers Jan and O.S. Hopefully you guys will continue to contribute to the quality recaps and comments here at Caray.
SpanProf, thank you for starting the comments on Mexicana and for your clarifications throughout the run.
Diana, thank you as always, your recaps were our cornerstone!
My DVR is still set up to record Mon - Friday at 3 PM ET, so I will sometime this week take a look at Corazón guerrero, but I think it is a more traditional telenovela and also not something I would especially want to watch.
I may try reading a book for a change, perhaps El amor en los tiempos del cólera.
Ha! Just kidding, too heavy for me, and long. I have read a few of Gabriel García Márquez's short stories, and some were beautiful and wonderful. Those with no "magical realism" that is, which is something that I just don't get generally.
See y'all in the funny pages!
Andy
Niecie, they have paced these mysteries perfectly. I never expected to be wondering what connection Margarita and Iván had. As for Lerna, I agree she shoukd butt out if she’s smart. I felt sorry for Donato.
Susanlynn, you are more than welcome. We will try to keep you up to date until you are back in the world of Univision. I wonder if Flavia losing “her little kingdom” (as you so aptly described it) will make her even more vile than she has been. That is a scary thought. I agree that she will be into some kind of retaliation if she finds out that Jero and Ester made a fool of her. You are right about Chepina being Rodolfo’s sister after comparing some of the character’s surnames. I had her marked down as a sister but she must have sounded more like a sister-in-law to me last night.
Notes from the couch . . . so much going on!
RAYO'S STORY
FLASHBACK: Margarita tried to explain her affection the she had for the city of Guadalajara to Rayo even though she was from Torreón. Rayo guessed correctly that she was named after the Virgin María del Rayo from Guadalajara (btw praying to her is supposed to help the unemployed) Margarita said Guadalajara was like her second home. It still has a special place in her heart. Rayo looked through her handwritten and worn recipe book. Margarita said one day it would be her inheritance. Rayo thought that was pretty cheap. Margarita insisted it was a treasure.
"Life is a two sided coin. The side that makes us happy can make others unhappy."
"When we build our happiness on others' unhappiness, we have to assume that sooner or later, we will pay a price for that."
At her party, Rayo gets a call from Mati warning her about family services looking for her. Rayo doesn't know what to do. She thinks that Teo's mother called family services. Teo tells her to tell an adult. She decides to run away.
Mati boldly approaches the family service workers and tries to hurry them on their way noticing they haven't found who they were looking for. They show her a photo of Rayo but neither she nor her minions say they have seen her.
Flavia crashes the party is in full swing looking for Teo. As she orders Teo to come with her, Julia notices that Rayo is gone. Teo tells them that Rayo ran away because family services found out she is an orphan and they are out looking for her. Flavia would be so happy if they just put her in an orphanage already. Ester asks her if she reported Rayo. Flavia doesn't have explain herself to anyone. (so there!)
Flavia chews out Teo out for having lied to her. He asks how could she report Rayo to family services? All she wants to know is where Rayo is so they can take her away immediately. Teo isn't talking.
Everyone is out shouting "RAYO" as they look for her. (Is that dumb or is that stupid since Rayo is running from the authorities??? Really??))
Rayo and Mati are at Celeste's packing up (and taking her mother's recipe book). She tells Mati that she knows it must have been Flavia who turned her in.
When Mati and Rayo go blabbering loudly down the street and not paying attention to their surroundings, they are confronted by family services and there is nowhere to go. As Rayo expresses her fears of ending up in an orphanage, Mati fiercely defends her. She will not let them take her anywhere.
Soon, Ester, Angel, Julia, and Jero arrive on the scene. One of the family service workers asks if one of them is Celeste. Julia says they are not but they are Rayo's neighbors who have known her forever. They cannot take Rayo. She is a part of their family. It turns out that the report that was made on Rayo was made by ANONYMOUS. Ester says since there is no court order, nobody is taking Rayo anywhere. Flavia arrives urging family services to take Rayo. What are they waiting for? Ester tells Flavia if she is the one who reported her, she should show them the proof that she is abandoned. Angel finds the law online and according to it, if they all agree that Rayo is being taken care of, there isn't a problem. Julia says that Rayo has been living at the Machado house. Family services decides that they will not intervene as long as Rayo is being cared for but if they receive another report that she is abandoned, they will take legal action to see her transferred to an orphanage.
Julia and the others celebrate that Rayo will be staying with them. Julia takes her home to live with her family.
Later, Rayo goes out with Mati and her crew and they have a good time debriefing. Mati warns her to watch out for Flavia because she is going to continue to harass her.
Julia gets Rayo all set up to sleep on the couch!!! Rayo thanks Julia and hugs her. Rayo talks about missing her mother. Julia can relate having lost her own. Julia mentions that her husband was from Guadalajara. Rayo thinks back to her mother talking about her affection for Guadalajara.
EVERYTHING ELSE
Angel accepts Danny's invitation to the party. By the end of the day, Angel makes a deal with Danny. He and his mom will work as a team to find his father and and Danny will behave himself. Angel tries to feel out Julia's true feelings about Misael. She says he is the father of her child. They had their ups and downs for ten years. She ends up saying that if the happiness of her child depends on him appearing, of course she misses Misael. Angel looks sad as he leaves even though he told Julia he was getting married earlier and she looked sad.
Ester is at the party in the kitchen talking to Jero about the texts between her son and Margarita He says not to worry because tomorrow she will see the tech aka "the hacker" and he will show her what he found.
Celeste tells Braulio she is worried about the cost of being hospitalized. He tells her no worries but he bought higher insurance coverage when they started the fertility treatments. It was of utmost importance that she have first class medical care. They love each other so much!! She asks if he had some news about Rayo. He says Rayo promised to behave herself and not to do anything crazy her b-day. Ester calls Celeste but Braulio convinces to finish eating her food first before talking to her. Later she wants to call Rayo but Braulio tells her to wait until tomorrow. Celeste says how alone she feels. They have no family, no close friends. Braulio says they have each other and a new little baby on the way. He gets annoyed when she mentions her brother. He only cares about her.
Ana Sofí cannot find Angel. He texts her that he will tell her what he was doing when he sees her. When they are back at his apartment that night, he says that he has been doing boring business tasks all day. She informs him that she and her father want their wedding to take place by the end of the month.
Jero notices Ester giving her mother the brush off. She says they don't get along. He tells her that at least her mother is alive. His mother died while he was in the USA and he had to say goodbye to her on the phone. .
Julia is getting texts from "sin filtros' but texts back that she is not interested communicating with somebody she doesn't know or is not Misael. They could be one of his lovers for all she knows. Misael's disappearance has caused her many problems. His son misses him and she is drowning in debt and could end up in jail because of it.
When Adair tells his mother that Jero cannot meet with him today because he has too much to do, Lenar blames his new girlfriend. Adair laughs.
Ester makes what she thinks is a partial payment to Flavia only to find out that her mother already paid the part she couldn't.
The doctor tells Celeste that things are going well but she wants her to continue her hospital stay. Celeste will do it for the baby. Celeste calls Rayo who tells her the good and the bad that happened on her 15th birthday. Celeste tells Braulio that she cannot believe that Flavia could be that cruel calling family services on Rayo.. She is going to tell Flavia off. Braulio stops her call and confesses that he was the one who called family services.
Believing that Flavia was the one who reported Rayo, Mati and her crew decide to teach her a lesson. The next morning her new white food truck is covered in graffiti and the windows are broken. Flavia is shocked.
Please add anything I left out.
Braulio is such a rat. He who doesn’t want Celeste to get upset, evidently didn’t mean it.
I have to admit I did enjoy Flavia’s truck getting vandalized.
When is Max leaving? I hope he takes Teo with him and not abandon him to live with his witch of a mother.
Jarifa, I missed part of this so am especially grateful for your well written, marvelous recap.
“Rayo looked through her handwritten and worn recipe book. Margarita said one day it would be her inheritance. Rayo thought that was pretty cheap. Margarita insisted it was a treasure” completely confused me. Do the recipes contain some sort of valuable information, code or clue? Margarita seems to have kept many secrets close to the vest, the connection with Ivan the most curious to me.
“Julia mentions that her husband was from Guadalajara. Rayo thinks back to her mother talking about her affection for Guadalajara.” I’ve felt from the beginning there is some connection between Margarita and Misael. If Rayo were younger, I would say she was Misael’s.
I was surprised that Mati staunchly defended Rayo. Perhaps there is a heart surrounded by her tough skin.
Julia and her family are so warm and loving, Julia welcoming Rayo and her tearful reaction tugged at the heartstrings. Poor little girl, all alone.
Was Ani Sofi going to a dance contest wearing that orchid blouse with the Cinderella detached puffy sleeves?
Angel always sported a bit of an amused (but caring) smile around Ani Sofi. That seems to have vanished.
I liked that Jero is making Ester rethink her relationship with her mother, who granted, acted badly, but is her mother. I hope they can patch things up.
I was leaning toward Flavia reporting Rayo but Braulio wasn’t a surprise. is such a rat. He who doesn’t want Celeste to get upset, evidently didn’t mean it.
“I have to admit I did enjoy Flavia’s truck getting vandalized”. Yup, me too Jarifa!
This was excellent – thank you!
Diana
Memo comes up with a humdinger of a lie to explain "the secret"--he tells Ursula that he had Chuchita make Ursula a dress. And if Ursula likes how Chuchita sews, maybe Chuchita can make her wedding dress. Ursula pretends that she believes them, but later tells Mac that she didn't swallow a bit of the lie and wants Mac to work on Amparo so Amparo can reveal the real secret.
Dani plans to take Isa on the trip to the beach house so she asks Memo if he can take Chema. Memo will ask Amparo if he can go. Memo then asks if Ursula can go too and Dani agrees.
OOOOHHH! Dani invites Fausto to go with them to the beach, but he refuses. Dani FINALLY gets fed up with his attitude and tells Fausto that maybe it's time they each go their own ways! And SHE will take her daughter with her!!
Oh fooey! Fausto changes his mind and goes. His explanation for changing his mind was soooo nauseating! Dani's words affected him and this trip is perfect for them as a family--she and Isa are the most important for him. Blech!!!
Eugenio goes to the restaurant and is happy that Mac is being supportive...but Mac has his own reasons--he wants to represent Amparo since she will likely become famous. Mac asks for an advance (horse betting money!) and Eugenio hands over some money!
THE TRIP--
Memo arrives first with Ursula and Chema. Dani and company arrive next. Dagger looks from Ursula to Dani and from Fausto to Memo.
Leo goes to see Chuchita at Dani's house. Leo proposes they take a trip to Guadalajara to buy some stuff. Chuchita thinks he's only trying to get lucky, so no way!
Fausto berates Memo when he talks to Claudia's husband, Jorge, and wants help in getting Dani to fire Memo, but nopis, Jorge is impressed with Memo.
Karen has a hissy fit when she finds out that Fausto stood her up...so she calls Aaron.
Uh-oh! The alliance from hell---Ursula wants Fausto to help her keep Memo and Dani apart. The alliance falls apart since Fausto isn't worried about Dani cheating on him...because there is no woman who dares cheat on him!! And next we see Karen with Aaron and she gets into a liplock with him. And Karen later sends Fausto a pic of the liplock!
Memo gets upset when Fausto talks harshly to Isa when he tells her to finish her food. Fausto points out to Jorge that this is an example of how Memo doesn't know his place. Dani tries to defend Memo but Ursula makes it clear that Memo has HER to defend him!
Leo shares with Chuchita that he remembers his mother's voice even though he was very young when she died...and he talks about his dream to become a singer.
Dani offers to take Chema with them to the beach so Memo and Ursula can have some time alone.
Ursula apologizes for being jealous of the "lizard"...she has nothing to worry about because Fausto and Dani look very happy together. (Is she talking about the same Fausto and Dani that we were watching????)
Leo is so impressed with the clothes Chuchita has made that he asks her to make his costumes.
Karen cries....do we care? NO!!
Fausto wants Dani to check Isa--that kid may have given her lice! Dani is furious when she figures out that the reason Fausto went with them was to meet Jorge and make a business connection.
Ursula wants to have a a baby girl soon after they get married...that way Memo can enjoy his own children, not other people's children.
FIN
Outstanding Rgv Chick! Your comments were all exceptional and perfectly on point!
I must start with: “Dani's words affected him, and this trip is perfect for them as a family--she and Isa are the most important for him. Blech!!!” which was spot on. Also, “Ursula apologizes...she has nothing to worry about because Fausto and Dani look very happy together. (Is she talking about the same Fausto and Dani that we were watching????)” Oh my, exactly!!! That was excellent…WTH…
During the first scene, I would swear Dani said “hello mi amor” when Memo called her. Was I right or did I totally dream that???
Thank you for explaining exactly what was said during the important exchange of: “Fausto berates Memo when he talks to Claudia's husband, Jorge, and wants help in getting Dani to fire Memo, but nopis, Jorge is impressed with Memo”. The nerve of Fausto to denigrate Memo; so glad Jorge stood up for him.
Leave it to Macario to horn in on Amparo’s sure success. Amparo clearly didn’t want the advance, but greedy Macario ripped the check right out of the register before Eugenio’s signature was dry! Eugenio’s smile did not reach his eyes.
Loved Fausto leaving Karen in the lurch and in the dust. Perennial second choice Aaron is obviously happy to settle for mere crumbs.
I smiled at Chema being dismayed at the food (which looked like octopus) – I’m with you kid!
What a stick in the mud Fausto was, refusing to get his feet wet in the water as Dani was running in and out of the low tide with the kids.
Time with Chema and Isabella seems to have brought the “motherly” instinct out in Ursula. I laughed because Memo started drinking quicker!
Thank you Rgv Chick, this was fabulous.
Diana
Finally caught up. Gracias, amigas.
I think someone else used Ivan's and Margarita's phones. I don't see Ivan doing anything shady but Misael definitely is up to no good.
Nor does it surprise me that Braulio called CPS on Rayo. I do think he is in cahoots with Flavia over something and knowing how this set of novelas works it will be a little while yet before we know what that is.
So who is Celeste's brother and what contribution will he make to this tale?
Ariel is definitely an asset to this neighborhood; that dress he made for Rayo is gorgeous and perfect for her. The boots she got were hideous.
Mati didn't graffiti up Flavia's truck for nothing; she will expect Rayo to pay her back somehow.
Jeronimo and Ester will be a couple and maybe sooner than we thought and what the hell did his ex expect here?
Jarifa, thank you . Your excellent recap was a great read with my morning coffee and Cheerios !
Thank goodness the neighbors defended Rayo when Family Services came knocking and Julia brought her home to her family .
Hmmmm. Mysterious Margarita has ties to Guadalajara as does Miseal . Could he be Rayo's father ? How old is he supposed to be ? Rayo is 15 , so Margarita and Miseal could have been teen lovers . And what were Margarita and Ivan communicating about without Esther knowing? That recipe book must hold some clues.
I see a reconciliation in the future for Esther and her mother . Jer is good for Esther. PSA...when your parent is gone , there is no longer a chance to reconcile. I am so glad that I took care of my parents and could say goodbye to them.
Another PSA about guys like Braulio who wants to separate Celeste from everyone else and control and manipulate her . I see her waking up to his obsession to keep her isolated. I hope her brother turns up . We will probab!y learn that Braulio lied to Celeste about her brother to distance her from him.
Thank you Rgv Chick for these excellent highlights! You captured the spirit of the episode perfectly!!
Diana, she said, ‘hola memo’ it almost sounds like ‘mi amor’ though. Falso blah, what an arrogant tool! No woman would ever cheat on me??? What exactly is it he thinks he has to offer to compel such loyalty? I really wish I could ask! The man has not one redeeming quality as far as I can tell. He basically disappeared at the beach and left Dani to do everything.
Watching Leo and Sebastian try to lure their conquests is fun but I thought Leo was starting to show a touch of arrogance last night, yuck. Sebastian has much more than a touch of arrogance but I don’t mind because I think Lupita is going to have him wrapped around her finger eventually and it should be fun to watch him fall! It does worry me that she is getting giggly though, hold out a little longer girl! Wait for the bravado to come crashing down!
I never think about Karen but I noticed something last night, in the beginning of the show when she was waiting for Falso it looked like she was in her own apartment but at the end she came home to daddy’s house. Does she have an apartment and stay with dad sometimes? Or was she waiting at a hotel for Falso and then went back home? I don’t really care but it seemed odd…
I thought they were just thinking fast but it appears conchita really does sew! Lol
Gracias, amigas. I am having problems keeping up because Univision isn't uploading the episodes on a daily schedule so they can be On Demand the next day and I have to catch them this way because I don't have a TV set right now.
Eugenio definitely has more interest in Amparo than he is saying. He also has a classy approach to this situation which Macario can't deal with. My guess is that Amparo was rather naive when she married this slimeball or perhaps didn't think she could do better. Fortunately her children take after her. It's also great that she and her brothers are close and all of them are good people.
If Amparo would ask me I would recommend that she title the book Recetas de Mi Madre which would hit people where they live (if all novelas are saying this it must have some truth in it).
I can't fault Amparo for her reaction to Gaby's deception. Kudos to JuanPa for his response to help... at no pay, no less.
Fausto is a total psychopath. Daniela and Isabella are only a means to an end for him. That he is cheating on her at all is bad enough, but it is double-compounded by it being with her "best friend" and in their house? He will deserve a serious Karmageddon for that alone.
If Ursula is still legally married to Cesar -- who has no intention of letting go of her -- the wedding can't take place. He might end the ceremony under the "If anyone here knows of any reason why this marriage cannot take place, let him speak now or forever hold his peace."
Ursula has no maternal instincts. She is looking to baby-trap Guillermo and she is going about it with a plan. Rescuing Chema was where this really began; she knew that Amparo and Humberto do not approve of her so she would have to do something like this to correct that.
Getting back to the early episodes the word in Vencer #18 -- "gatúbela" -- can properly refer to Ursula because she is likely to encroach on other women and cause fights with them. This series presents several possibilities for serious catfights between Daniela, Ursula, and Karen.
Thanks, Jarifa, your notes from the couch are fun and informative! I entirely missed the cookbook conversation! I was there but didn’t know they were talking about a cookbook. I wonder if it holds the clue to Rayo’s father. And Diane, I didn’t think about her being Misael’s daughter, but she could be. I think she is somehow related to his family. He may be the key to a lot more than the accident and the missing money! I love a good mystery.
I’m surprised Braulio admitted to reporting Rayo. I hope Celeste starts rethinking her so called loving husband. I don’t understand why Flavia didn’t deny the accusations. Probably sorry she didn’t think of reporting her first! Her truck was boring, I like it more colorful! But it was fun seeing her face. Maybe she’ll decide to be a nicer person.
Liz
Urban, on the Uni app if the episodes don’t update to On demand right away, the Live Tv option will go back up to 72 hours so you can still watch the ‘live’ broadcast of the episode the next day or for three days after. I do that when the app doesn’t update timely.
Darcy, thank you for explaining Dani said "hola Memo" rather than "hola mi amor"! I was so startled, wonderfing what I missed! Guess I was just tired.
Urban, "Eugenio definitely has more interest in Amparo than he is saying. He also has a classy approach to this situation which Macario can't deal with" was excellent and exactly right. I like the character and the actor is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
And no, Ursula doesn't seem particularly maternal, does she? :)
Diana
I said app but the website works the same way. You can scroll the live feed back for three days. But yes, you probably could download the app to a laptop too.
Urban, thanks to this suggestion by Darcy. I no longer have to use my dying VCR.
Darcy, you saved me a lot of aggravation. Thanks again.
Good morning! Another busy morning for me. Now I’m at the vet; I think one of my fur babies has an ear infection…at least I hope that is all it is. But I’m enjoying all the comments so THANK YOU!
It has been one of those mega shopping days. I am eating breakfast between grocery store trips. Ever have one of those days where you open the fridge and either things are used up or need to be tossed? Anyway,
Diana, "I was surprised that Mati staunchly defended Rayo. Perhaps there is a heart surrounded by her tough skin." I wondered the same thing when it seemed like Mati was willing to get into a physical altercation to protect Rayo. I guess what I like about this Vencer series is that the characters are so complicated and nuanced. I hope we see some the texts between Iván and Margarita tonight.
Urban,it would not surprise me if Flavia and Brauliio were involved in some scheme together. They are cut from the same cloth. Braulio likes to use the velvet glove approach to get whta he wants while Flavia still thinks her sledge hammer approach is the way to go. "Jeronimo and Ester will be a couple and maybe sooner than we thought and what the hell did his ex expect here?" Exactly, she was the one who had the affair and kept it a secret all the while accepting Jero's hard earned money.
Susanlynn, "Another PSA about guys like Braulio who wants to separate Celeste from everyone else and control and manipulate her . I see her waking up to his obsession to keep her isolated. I hope her brother turns up . We will probab!y learn that Braulio lied to Celeste about her brother to distance her from him." I agree with the whole thing. It is too bad Celeste got pregnant and decided to keep it knowing that Brauliio really didn't want a child. I would fear for that child its whole life. He is a real creep.
Liz, "I don’t understand why Flavia didn’t deny the accusations. Probably sorry she didn’t think of reporting her first!" Truer words never said! I am wondering how that old cookbook is going to fit into the plot, too. They usually don't waste time talking about things that are not integral to what is going on.
Maybe more later. Onward to Trade Joe's!
Rgv Chick, adding my wishes that your fur baby's ear has been treated and is feeling better!
Diana
"Braulio likes to use the velvet glove approach to get whta he wants while Flavia still thinks her sledge hammer approach is the way to go" had me laughing Jarifa!
"I don’t understand why Flavia didn’t deny the accusations. Probably sorry she didn’t think of reporting her first!" was perfect Liz. Exactly right!!
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa. Awesome storytelling.
Jero can be hot-headed, but he is a keeper. ITA he was so right gently advising Ester to talk to her mother. He also pointed out that while Ester lost a child, Rayo lost a mother so maybe the two of them could ...
I'll confess that though I can't stand Flavia, seeing her food truck vandalized like that was rough. The tires were slashed too. I feel bad for the poor truck.
I'm hoping Rayo will be a positive influence on Mati, instead of Mati leading Rayo astray. Mati did prove she has a good side.
How will Celeste react to Braulio trying to send Rayo to an orphanage behind her back?
Rayo looked uncomfortable when Julia was going on about roots in Guadalajara. Could Rayo too be thinking what the patio is thinking about Misael being her daddy?
I wonder if Flavia will ent her wrath on her precious bell collection . They have made a point of showing her dusting and arranging her prized collection .
Thanks, Rgv Chick, great retell of a different kind of episode.
I really enjoyed the fun at the beach with the kids. What a wet blanket Fausto is! Although Memo and Ursula looked like they had fun too. Not sure what he sees in her.
So glad the host, don’t remember his name, stuck up for Memo. If they take that job they’ll be more time spent together and at the beach.
I couldn’t believe how Mac reached across the table and finished pulling the check from the checkbook. Does Amparo even know she got an advance?
Fausto saying no woman would dare cheat on him sounds like a threat. I wonder what he’ll do to Karen to punish her! Or maybe Aaron!
Liz
Thanks, Rgv Chick. Another fun romp. I hope your fur baby is okay.
Fausto is a snob, greedy, murderous, rude, unfeeling, selfish…, but Memo slipped up when he acted like the true dad with Isa at the dining table. I don’t remember the exact exchange, but technically Memo was out of line assuring Isa that something(?) was okay, and Dani rushed in to avoid Fausto going off even more. Memo simply can’t hide his affection and feelings of responsibility for Isa’s wellbeing, even when her so-called dad is sitting right there.
Wardrobe, Memo’s too-tight short shirtsleeves are driving me nuts. You can show off GS’s fabulous physique without those sleeves. Gaby, time to take your uncle clothes shopping again.
"Memo simply can’t hide his affection and feelings of responsibility for Isa’s wellbeing, even when her so-called dad is sitting right there".
You're so right Niecie and it's one of the many reason I am just loving this show.
Diana
Fausto saying Chema has terrible manners because he didn't want to eat octopus was just so crazy. And this man is a businessman? How is being openly rude a sign of good manners. His host made it clear he wasn't interested in interfering and Fausto still thought that saying a child was not well-mannered would win him points. He is stupid then. What kind of businessman would be interested in a business partner who starts their acquaintance by asking the guy to get his wife's assistant fired. This was just ridiculous. I wonder if Karen will end up murdering Fausto and then killing herself. Why is she crying over this? When Daniela asked Fausto to come with them to the beach, I could only sigh. Just accept it's over and get a divorce. Telenovelas where women are desperately trying to save their marriage when their partner is either useless or just a terrible human being in general are hard to watch. Here I can't even see why both Amparo and Daniela are so desperate. It's not like they believe they can't find anyone better or are financially dependent on their husbands' money. Amparo said she loved her husband and I just don't get it. Maybe she's just used to him and confuses this with love.
"His host made it clear he wasn't interested in interfering and Fausto still thought that saying a child was not well-mannered would win him points" was exactly right waterlily and well said.
waterlily, I also believe Amparo when she says she loves her husband. But she has known and seen who he is, many warts and all through many years. Perhaps she did love him and what resides now is habit or "comfort". It's strange because she isn't blind to his faults, yet I do think he's done some unforgivable acts that likely were hidden from her.
Fausto loved Isa until he found out she isn't "his", which was fairly recently. Dani trusts him implicitly and her best friend even more so and is guilty of not picking up clues that are screaming rather than whispering. Dani is upset now however by Fausto's current treatment of Isa. Having "golden" Memo show up, his love and affection for Isa evident at every turn is giving her more pause for reflection.
I can't even begin to reason Karen out. I just don't want to. She is mentally deranged :)

Notes from the couch . . . The THUMBS UP/THUMBS DOWN edition
-FLASHBACK
We see Braulio browbeat and shame an insecure Celeste into changing from a dress that he thinks it is too revealing (for a business dinner with Homero ) into something that he finds more appropriate. His language is particularly offensive as he asks her if she wants men to devour her with their eyes considering her décolleté and her legs.
"When we are used to living in a toxic environment, we don't even realize it. We are so far down the rabbit hole that the bad things that are done to us seem normal."
-CELESTE asks a BIG THUMBS DOWN Braulio how he could ever have reported Rayo. She is horrified as he gives her his laundry list of excuses and she tells him that he is not talking for her. She will NEVER forgive him. He tries to play the martyr but she is not having it. He did it all for her own good. He looks for a thousand and one excuses. Rayo is a TEENAGER (OH! NO!) and she will never be able to have the strength to deal with her and the baby when he isn't around. She has to trust him on this one. Celeste starts to give Braulio the silent treatment. He forces a kiss on her before he leaves. (YUCK!)
A BIG THUMBS UP to Celeste who decides to text her bro Oscar.
The doctor is sending Celeste home tomorrow and tells her when she reaches her second trimester she will be feeling so much better.
A BIG THUMBS UP for Oscar who comes to see his sister. He never expected to find her ill and pregnant. She is so glad to see him after all this time. He makes sure that she knows that Braulio made it clear that she didn't want to have anything to do with him. She admits that she was angry with him because he took the house. He repeats that Braulio made it very clear that she didn't want to hear from him. She doesn't understand why Braulio did what he did.
-FLAVIA gets a big THUMBS DOWN for throwing a fit upon seeing her vandalized truck. How could somebody do that to her when she is so lovely with everybody? Ester arrives on the scene and has overheard her question. She cannot believe that Flavia could believe what she is asking. Flavia has been so rude and abusive to everyone at the complex. Flavia blames her for the damage. Ester laughs it off. She isn't so stupid or so infantile to do something like that. She can accuse her all she wants but she has no proof. Julia arrives and smiles when she sees the damage. Flavia blames her. Julia says if she can prove it, she wants to see the evidence. Jero arrives and Flavia whines to him about the damaged truck. Flavia makes a big deal about calling the police and tells Ester and Julia that they will be coming to see who is responsible for damaging her truck. She is sure it is one of them if not both. Ester and Julia start laughing and go after her about her having no proof. A big THUMBS DOWN to Jero who asks them to leave because they are provoking Flavia and this isn't the time. A big THUMBS DOWN to Ester and Julia for evidently leaving.
The police come and tell Flavia she will have to make a report down at the ministerio público.
-RAYO is made to feel right at home with Rodolfo and his family. A BIG THUMBS UP for Rayo who offers to help out around the house. A BIG THUMBS UP to Rodolfo who tells her she can stay as long as she needs to. She thinks she will be going back to live with Celeste when she comes home.
A BIG THUMBS DOWN to Mati who is back to pressuring Rayo to live unnoticed in some rich home.
Flavia comes by to harass Rayo about still being in the complex. She insists that she did not call family services. Flavia is sure that Mati and her crew vandalized her food truck. They all deny it. When she leaves, Rayo wants to know the truth. Mati and her crew joke about it. Rayo thinks that what they did to Flavia makes them as bad as Flavia. Mati says they did it for her because friends share their joys and their crimes. Time to hush up about it.
-JERO is disappointed about the food truck because now he is out of a job. He is sorry to see Flavia so upset. Ester doesn't feel any compassion or sympathy for her. She tells him that Flavia isn't a very good person. She goes on about how Flavia was constantly in communication to get her payment or to move her out of her apartment but she could take her mother's money to pay her debt without telling her. Flavia is only about the money. (Jero doesn't look convinced enough)
Jero wants to study with Adair during the day. A BIG THUMBS DOWN to Lerna who plays a real b*tch and tells Jero that Adair has to work at the laundry. A BIG THUMBS UP to Donato who volunteers to take Adair's place at the laundry while he studies. Lerna is not pleased.
Adair wants to know about Ester Jero's novia. Is he is love? Jero isn't talking.
A BIG THUMBS UP to Ebe who is rearranging his class schedule so he can get a part time job to help out. Jero is not pleased.
-ANGEL wakes up to Ana Sofí all excited that she has a mega surprise that she is going to announce to her followers: she and Angel are getting married! She has the wedding all planned out in her head and he is more than happy to let her do what she wants.
Ana Sofí tells Homero that she and Angel are getting married in TWO weeks! He is speechless. Mirna is all excited. Ana Sofí tells her she needs to come with a decent guy not Armando.
A BIG THUMBS UP to Homero who makes a surprise visit to the company and tells Angel not to marry Ana Sofí. He feels responsible that Angel now has to solve the problems that he caused. Homero doesn't want to see the company saved at the cost of Angel's happiness.
Braulio congratulates Angel on his great decision about the business with Silvano and also his marriage to Ana Sofi. Angel never thought that things would work out this way. Braulio says to be honest, we play with the cards we are dealt by chance. He thinks that his getting married is the best thing he can do. Ana Sofí is a good woman. She comes from a powerful family. If he doesn't like things about her, nobody is perfect. He can decide to have a happy marriage. He can make sure that Ana Sofí pays attention to him in everything he does. IT IS A MATTER OF IMPOSING HIS WILL ON HIS WIFE IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY, OF COURSE. A BIG THUMBS UP TO Angel who remarks that Ana Sofí isn't his property. Braulio says he didn't understand what he meant. You can manage people that are close to you. Making a kind comment or giving a little bit of criticism can go a long way. (SURE . . . )
-ESTER goes to see the hacker. He got what he could out of the account. He cannot go back to the Amibuk account because now the system keeps kicking him out and he could be labeled a hacker. He wouldn't want to end up losing his job. He shows Ester what he has:
Iván: Seriously, I need to go to Laredo with you, Margarita. It is urgent.
Margarita: Don't complicate things any more than they are. It would be better to tell your mom about everything.
Iván: No, not yet. You know it would take a lot for her to understand what is happening.
The hacker thinks that her son and Margarita had something going on. Ester has a hard time believing that.
Ester calls her mother to complain about her getting involved in her debt. Claudia says she was only a mother trying to help her daughter. Ester thanks her but she knows she is only doing things like that to try to wheedle her way back into her life and trying to control her. Ester will pay her back the money ASAP. She isn't to talk to Flavia again. She tells her that her investigations have given her some new information about Iván. Claudia says it is only logical that Iván wouldn't talk to her about his private life.
Julia and Ester catch up. Julia has heard nothing about Misael. Ester tells her about the messages between Iván and Margarita and that it seems like they had something going on. Ester thinks that the money that was lost probably was illegal in some way since there are no records of it. Next thing you know, Ester and Julia are arguing as usual about Misael with Ester accusing him and Julia defending him.
Ester tells Jero about her suspicion that her son and friend Margarita had an intimate relationship. She is sure she must have seduced him.
-JULIA drops Danny off at school. He thinks he sees his father. Julia tells him it isn't his father but doesn't look sure herself. She later follows the man down the street but it turns out to not be Misael.
Gina sees Ana Sofí's latest posting. She has a super surprise she has to tell them. She is going to give out clues to see if they can guess what it is and have a better chance at winning her giveaway. Later, Julia will tell Gina that the surprise is that Ana Sofí is marrying Angel Funes.
Somebody sends Julia a gift box filled with a wad of cash. There is a note that says : "to get you out of debt."
Julia meets with Angel to tell him what has been going on and shows him the package. She says it belongs to him. She is sure it is part of the money that her husband stole. He asks why??? She tells him all about the "sin filtros"communications. He supposes the she still loves Misael. She says she couldn't love the thief and the coward that he turned out to be. Angel says maybe Misael was afraid of being blamed for the crash, took the money and ran. Julia doesn't agree. He, at the very least, could have called her to let her and her son know he was alive. She wants to sit and think. He decides to leave her with the box of cash but then tells her he cannot leave her. He tells her everything he feels for her.
-Please feel free to add anything I left out
“Buenos dias” Macario says as he nuzzles and peppers Amparo’s neck with slimy kisses. She doesn’t push him away but seems a bit annoyed. He pretends to look for Eugenio’s check.
Gaby is complaining and her mother tells her to get back to work. Gaby plasters a smile on her face as she picks up a tray amid calls from the patrons for her attention.
Ursula confronts Macario who spins her around.
Amparo and Memo have a heart-to-heart. You are the father of Isabella she tells him as he scratches his beard. She says she wouldn’t want to be in his shoes, but Daniela deserves to know the truth. Memo is naturally reluctant as he doesn’t know how Dani will react. Still, he straightens up and says he will tell Senora Daniela he is Isabella’s father. He hugs his sister, who happily supports him.
Lupita and Sebastian are at the law firm. He moves in for a kiss and she smiles. She is called in and she goes back and kisses him as he smiles broadly and does the happy dance. Rather than savoring her sweet and gentle kiss, gladly given, he cannot leave well enough alone. He follows her into the conference room, as she is starting her work, putting out folders for a meeting. Viewerville is aghast as Sebastian is suddenly all over her, grabbing and forcefully kissing her! A startled Gaby is beside herself, crying and hitting him with the portfolio. She stomps on his foot and tells him off. She runs out as she tells him she quits!
Diana
Memo tells Daniela he needs to talk to her about something important, something personal. As their conversation begins, we see Isabella on a trampoline in the foreground. Dani is sweetly asking him what it is as Memo stutters on his words. Suddenly, Isa calls her mother, asking that she watch her. Seeing she is close to the edge; Dani admonishes her to be careful. The words barely escaped her lips when Isabella goes over the side of the trampoline, hitting her head hard on the poolside cement and falling into the pool. Memo springs into action and dives in pulling her from the water. Her head gash bleeds, and she is unconscious. “Mi nina, no” Dani begs. Get an ambulance now Memo screams. He does chest compressions, and we see Isa’s lips tremble. Chuchita comes out and Dani tells her to call for help! Isabella is nonresponsive.
Karen and Fausto exchange not so pleasantries. Fausto tries to forbid Karen from seeing Aaron and is rewarded with a sharp, precise slap to the face! Timing is everything and Eugenio walks by just in time to witness this. He is clearly angry and demands an explanation. Fausto lies through his rotten teeth (thanks Rgv Chick) that they were discussing business. Eugenio is not happy with the violence. When he confronts Karen alone, she tells him they had a professional difference of opinion. She complains to her papi that she can’t stand Fausto. She blames Eugenio for putting him below her and that Fausto highly resents working for a woman. She then changes gears and asks what would happen if Isabella dies. Eugenio responds that a percentage of Fausto’s father’s fortune would go to Daniela, the rest would be donated to an institute. Fausto would only get a monthly payment. Karen evilly processes this information.
Fausto confronts Aaron, calling him an imbecile for the photo of him and Karen kissing. It was only a kiss Aaron explains. Fausto grabs him with both hands and shakes him. Karen is my amante Fausto sneers and warns him off.
Fausto then gets the news about Isabella and tells Eugenio and Karen there has been an accident.
Dani and Memo are at the hospital. The doctor introduces himself. Dani falls apart as Memo tells her she will be all right. He hugs her awkwardly.
Diana
Later Macario counts a stack of bills, fresh from Eugenio’s cashed check. He claims ownership as a grabby Ursula helps herself to a fistful of the bills. After a few threats, she still manages to take off with half of the proceeds!
Fausto arrives at the hospital and face flushed with anger, asks Memo why he is there. “Leave” Fausto commands. Fausto says only family should be here. Memo stares back angrily and goes for coffee. Dani pleads with Fausto to be civil… Memo saves Isa’s life! All that is important now is Isabella, she murmurs. Fausto accosts some random nurse demanding answers, but she leaves wordlessly.
The doctor explains that Isabella has a severe cerebral contusion… they had to induce a coma. Memo holds his medal, tears streaming down his cheeks as Fausto holds an inconsolable Dani. Fausto thought bubbles that if she dies, his inheritance disappears; he loses everything. Memo pleads with the doctor to allow Dani to see Isabella. It might make Isa feel calmer. Fausto regards him, eyes livid with fury, arms closed.
A fully gowned Daniela walks in Isabella’s room, she takes off her mask, mi nina she pleads. I love you. She speaks softly and sweetly to her daughter; come back she begs Isabella! She cries that that Isa stole her heart with her smile, her eyes and especially when she first heard her say mama.
Outside her room, Memo who has been regarding Fausto with the utmost contempt, sees Karen and tells Fausto with disgust “well look, here is your other woman.” Karen walks over and brazenly asks Fausto how Isa is. She taunts Fausto that if Isa dies, his little game to get his inheritance will end. Dani emerges and Karen runs over hugging her friend. Memo asks how Isabella is as he puts his head in his hands.
Karen is in with Isa!!She spews craziness, blaming Isabella for everything, she hates her; Isabella’s arrival cost her everything she wanted. If Isabella dies, Fausto will lose his fortune and Dani…and he would be hers! She starts looking at the machines and wiping something off her eyes (it must be frost as she can’t produce tears), ratchets up one of the dials causing Isa’s blood pressure to soar. Finally, the machine starts beeping and a nurse comes in asking why she is there. Karen turns on the crocodile waterworks and backs out of the room.
Diana
Lupita tells Gaby what happened with Sebastian. Are you sure Gaby asks? After Lupita assures her that she is, Gaby sympathizes saying that’s terrible. Lupita is done with Sebastian – she never wants to see him again!
Memo and Dani are in the hospital corridor as he tries to give her hope. He asks her to close her eyes and to think of what she will do with Isabella once she is well. They will both be happy. Thank you, she says gratefully, putting her hand on his shoulder. He accompanies Dani to the chapel. Dani prays and after she leaves, Memo himself offers fervent and desperate prayers.
Amparo calls Memo asking if he told Daniela the truth. No hermana he chokes out. He tells her Isa was in an accident as his face mirrors his anguish. Leo finds Amparo crying and she explains what happened. She removes her apron and says she is going to the hospital.
(Jacka**) Fausto watches Isabella from the window to her room. He silently tells Isabella he could care less what happens to her, but it will not benefit him if she dies.
Karen, the would-be murderer, is comforting Daniela. Memo can barely contain his anger toward Fausto who finally manages to show some sort of upset. Karen turns away in disgust as Memo watches, experiencing revulsion.
I love you Daniela Fausto declares, which is enough to make Karen leave. He holds her as Memo cannot bear to watch any further. Fausto lies that he told Isa that he loves her. He tells Daniela she is the best mother in the world…and they will come out of this just fine…for their daughter who needs them.
Diana
Thanks to Rgv Chick whose gracious assistance (after a very long and busy day) with the dialog and a few pivotal scenes was gratefully appreciated!
Fausto may be the devil but Karen IS Satan!!!
Diana
Marvelous Jarifa. You processed so much that assaulted our senses and did so seamlessly and insightfully.
Loved the “THUMBS UP/THUMBS DOWN edition!” I so enjoy your translating the quotes and "When we are used to living in a toxic environment, we don't even realize it. We are so far down the rabbit hole that the bad things that are done to us seem normal" was very thought provoking.
I hardly know where to begin.
First, I have no doubt Margarita and Ivan were NOT having an affair. What they were involved in is beyond me, but a romantic relationship? No way.
Homero is still lucid enough to realize Ana Sofi is not the woman for Angel. Knowing he’s had a change of heart, Angel remains silent, saying nothing to Ana Sofi. Blissfully unaware of Angel’s transfer of affections from her to Julia, Ana Sofi proceeds with their wedding plans. Yet that every afternoon, Angel is baring his soul to Julia, telling her how much he cares for her. He is buried up to his neck and is cutting off his air supply very quickly.
Braulio clearly fully revealed his evilly manipulative self to Celeste. While calling Oscar was a good first step, Celeste has been fully warned and needs to take back control of herself, of her life, immediately.
I honestly could not muster up any sympathy for Flavia who has reaped what she has cruelly sown. Her screaming to Maximo showed her as rather unbalanced, her pushing him away (hard) lent credence to that.
I liked: Donato’s quiet support of Jero; Angel’s whistling phone; Ester and Claudia trying to work toward a truce; Rayo basking in the warmth and welcome of Julia’s family.
I didn’t like: Anything Braulio and the disturbing “Mati says they did it for her because friends share their joys and their crimes” which seemed very ominous.
Jarifa, thank you, thank you!
Diana
Thank you Diana for you wonderful recap of this hard to watch episode!! Isa's accident, ouch...ouch ouch ouch ouch. How does that happen? It looked so horrible too!!!
'Falso may be the devil but Karen is SATAN!!' You said it!!! How anyone can be indifferent much less hateful towards a small innocent child is just beyond my understanding. To try to kill that child, there is no anvil strong enough for that!!! And not to be repetitive, but to gain what exactly???? Falso??? WHY DOES SHE WANT HIM??? I mean it's awful no matter what but if they had a great relationship it'd be at least understandable why she resented Isa, but you're in the way of my less than mediocre relationship??? Ugh. I'm done with Karen.
Sebastain?? Really? One little hint of interest and he's all systems go? This is supposed to be a 'seasoned' ladies man? It feels an awful lot like a rookie mistake....maybe this dude doesn't have as much experience with girls as he leads JuanPa to believe..
The idea that Falso could have not even the slightest feeling of concern for Isa is chilling. That is one stone cold psychopath. The fact that he even had the energy to care who was or wasn't waiting in the hospital room just shows what a slimeball he is. The writers sure didn't pull any punches in making the evil ones evil in this tale. Geez
Well I hope Isa wakes soon...I don't like seeing that precious child are vulnerable like that.
Thumbs up for the recap. Ester showing up just as Flavia was going on about that she is such a good person was great. Both Gero and Rayo irritated me with their 'what you did is so bad.' I find it annoying when they make characters oh so noble. Rayo, be glad this witch got her truck vandalised because I'll start thinking you are Cindirella and not a normal person. Braulio's speech to Angel was scary. Though I'd like to see him trying to make Ana Sofi do what he wants. What is up with Leenar? A dog in the manger?
Thank you for your always kind, supportive words Darcy!
"To try to kill that child, there is no anvil strong enough for that!!!" I completely agree. Impervious to human decency, a heart full of hatred and loathing makes Karen a monster. This level of insidious cruelty is just beyond imagination.
Is Sebastian going to claim the devil made him do it (think Flip Wilson)? You completely nailed it in that Sebastian has far enhanced his reputation. He is a bumbling fool who has come close to losing the best woman he almost had.
Fausto may have a cold, glacier stare but Memo's lava hot look of fury would make most wary. He will not allow Fausto to hurt his daughter and the woman he will come to love. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Diana
Jarifa, thank you so much. I couldn't watch , but your e,cell ent retelling let me see everything unfold in my imagination .
Braulio's truly evil nature is beginning to show. I am so glad that Celeste called her brother .
Flavia's true colors are also showing now that her plans to be large and in charge have been interrupted .
I am relieved that Rayo is in a safe place with Julia's family . What is up with Mati pressuring Rayo to live unnoticed in a rich persons house ??? Why???How???? How bizarre.
Lenar didn't want Jer until it appeared that some other woman did !
I hope that Esther reconciles with her mother . After her mother is gone from this earth, there will no longer be a chance to mend their relationship.
What on earth was going on between Ivan and margarita that they hid from Esther?
Who sent the money to Julia?
Gracias, Jarifa. That was thorough and very insightful.
Flavia must be delusional in her attempt at gaslighting the whole neighborhood into believing that she is a good person. She is anything but that. The vandalization of her truck is the least she deserves.
It is not a surprise that Mati and her crew suspected Flavia of ratting Rayo out, but I realized that while she is a logical suspect, Braulio had to be the one. Flavia is an also-ran because calling CPS would have rid the neighborhood of Rayo but Flavia enjoys watching people suffer. Her buttinsky ways and her unjustified snobbery annoy other adults but frighten everyone else, especially someone as vulnerable as Rayo. She gets off on that as well as the abuse she heaps on her own son, whom she is attempting to control. Good thing that Max is getting fed up with this.
Braulio is more about satisfying other selfish motives. The more he can isolate Celeste the better he can control her. The flashback about the dress was cringeworthy. He doesn't want her to have this baby because that will fundamentally change both of their lives and cost him mucho dinero. The doctor talking about the meds not harming the baby is a TN cliche likely to lead to a special-needs baby that will be very expensive indeed.
I don't see any bright future for a normal relationship between Ester and her mother. Although Ester seems to have finally accepted Ivan's death her mother has shown no evidence of grief at all. That is not normal.
Ana Sofie needs to grow up. Emotionally she seems to be about 14 years old. This is not an asset. Her behavior is not cute (especially if you see this in HD).
Diana, I only threw a few crumbs at you and you came up with a feast of a recap! Thank you!
So many gems, Diana, but my absolute favorite was: She starts looking at the machines and wiping something off her eyes (it must be frost as she can’t produce tears). And Darcy, this is worth repeating over and over: ""To try to kill that child, there is no anvil strong enough for that!!!" Deplorable, heinous, satanic....there aren't enough words to describe how evil Karen is!
And JA-Fausto is not far behind; he's a freezing cold donkey's derriere--no heart, no conscience whatsoever!! I cannot wait til Memo can't contain his fury any longer! I agree with Amparo, Memo needs to get Isa away from that environment ASAP!
I don't thank you often enough, Jarifa, but know that I SO appreciate your dedication in providing your notes from the couch--always top-notch and comprehensive! I only catch the last few minutes of the episodes, so I am especially appreciative.
Braulio's cold looks were a sure give away of what type of person he would turn out to be. He has Celeste brainwashed into thinking that he loves her. Whatever it is that he feels, cannot be love; he is so manipulative and obsessive of her!
It was really surprising to me that Ester could be so quick in thinking that her son was having an affair with Margarita...based on a few text messages??? Ester seems to be losing it!
So in Mexico, a parentless child can avoid going to an orphanage simply by proving that she has a place to stay?? I found that odd...but, oh well, glad she is staying with people who care for her.
Has anyone noticed the scores of music used for the different scenes. Most seem like something out of the 60s...or so it seems to me :-)
Gracias, Diana. Great work and great quotes, particularly about saying that Karen is Satan.
The only male villain I can recall with sufficient hatred toward children or a specific child was Pedro the Eunuch in Lo Que la Vida Me Robo. He was seriously unhinged. However, Fausto in this tale doesn't have Pedro's excuse for his mental state. He just has ice in his veins.
The details of Rudolfo's will demanded that Fausto remain married to Daniela and that he receive a proper monthly stipend. The bulk of Rudolfo's fortune is to go to Isabella when she is of age. If she dies before then it goes to charity. As Eugenio explained this to Karen my first thought was that most of these conditions would be illegal in the US and that Fausto must have been seriously irresponsible for his father to put these codicils in his will. That Eugenio has a copy tells us that he might be the executor. He appears not to know or suspect anything about Karen being Fausto's side chick.
That Karen attempted to kill little Isabella says that she doesn't care about Fausto's money situation because she intends to control him with hers.
That Macario tore the checque out of Eugenio's checkbook rather than wait for it is very telling and I think Eugenio caught that.
I completely agree that Sebastian is all bragadoccio and no real action.
Thanks, Jarifa, that was great. A lot happened last night! I enjoyed the thumbs up or down. And I can never seem to comprehend the quotes and they give a lot of meaning to the episode. So thanks for that too.
Poor Celeste, Braulio has been bending her to his will for quite a while. So glad she contacted her brother and now knows another thing her husband did. Hoping for 3 strikes you’re out! I do not see them together by the end.
I’m glad Rayo was upset with Mati and crew. I hope she doesn’t feel obligated to do their bidding.
The texts between Margarita and Ivan are strange. But I really don’t think it’s an affair. The money was strange too. Julia can really use it but offered it to Angel. I like her! Her family too, they threw the party for Rayo and then took her in.
Braulio becomes worse with each episode. He really revealed himself in this episode. He sure knows how not to treat a wife. And he’s pushing Angel into the marriage. What’s in it for him!
Flavia and her food truck were fun. Accusing both Julia and Ester. And they just enjoyed themselves. But I hated that they started arguing again. If Ester is supposed to be one of the main stars of this show I’d rather her be nicer.
I like Homero. He’s a kind man. I wonder if it was his illness that caused him to mess up or if he had a little help from some friends. Braulio would be at the top of that list.
Every night a new mystery. Love it.
Liz
Thanks, Diana, such a great retell of a tough episode. Everyone’s true colors came out but Memo is the only observant one. Why would they let Karen in? I hope the nurse says something to someone. As soon as I realized she was expressing her feelings I worried she’s try to kill Isabela. And Fausto! Did he ever care for his daughter or was she always nothing but a way to his inheritance. I’m thinking the latter. Wait till he finds out what Karen tried to do. But I bet we have a long wait!
I can’t believe Ursula took half the money. That’s the strangest uncle, niece relationship I’ve ever seen. And Amparo got nothing. I hope her eyes are opened soon.
Looks like Sebastian will have a long journey to win back Lupita. He got a little too intense. And on her first day at her job. I don’t think she should have quit though.
Hope Isabela wakes up tonight. It would be great if Karen’s little speech is somewhere in her subconscious-if that’s the right word. They say you hear when you’re unconscious and people talk to you.
Liz
Thanks, everyone, for stopping by the patio.
Diana, I don't think that Iván and Margarita were involved in an affair either but it had to be something that they knew that Ester really would not like. It looks like Donato is the closest thing to a male friend that Jero has. I think Donato has been sensitive enough to understand his situation and support him the best he can.
waterlily, Perfect! Your labeling of Lenar as the dog in the manger. We are seeing a vey ugly side of her.
Susanlynn, it seems that Julia is being led to believe that it was Misael who sent the money to her. I have my doubts since "sin filtros"never revealed who they were. "What is up with Mati pressuring Rayo to live unnoticed in a rich persons house ??? Why???How???? How bizarre. " I was relieved that Rayo felt the same way.
Urban, thanks for the laughs this morning in reference to Ana Sofí. "Her behavior is not cute (especially if you see this in HD)." I am so happy I don't have HD on tree tv where I watched this. The invention of HD was no favor to actors and actresses aging or not.
"I don't see any bright future for a normal relationship between Ester and her mother." Me, either.
RgvChick, thanks, this novela is proving to be yet another one that is a hoot to recap. "Has anyone noticed the scores of music used for the different scenes. Most seem like something out of the 60s...or so it seems to me :-)" I have noticed. The first time you hear them, it almost makes you do a double take. I especially like eh "mystery" theme. LOL
Liz, very good question.: What is in it for Braulio that he is pushing Angel into the marriage. Is he worried about the company going bankrupt if they do not get Silvano's partnership or is there something else?? Good comment about Homero. " I wonder if it was his illness that caused him to mess up or if he had a little help from some friends. Braulio would be at the top of that list." Hmmmm . . .
NIecie,I do think that Rayo was wondering about maybe Misael being her father. I really pity her for not knowing who her father was and think that Margarita was not a good parent keeping it from her.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I so appreciate them!
“Fausto is not far behind; he's a freezing cold donkey's derriere--no heart, no conscience whatsoever!!” had me laughing away Rgv Chick. Excellent descriptive! And yes, Memo is not only hawt but hot and his anger has reached a boiling point and I can’t wait to see when and how he goes after Fausto.
“That Karen attempted to kill little Isabella says that she doesn't care about Fausto's money situation because she intends to control him with hers” was revelatory Urban. It makes perfect sense! Superb insight as always.
Liz, I think Fausto did care about Isabella. As much as anyone morally bankrupt is capable of. She was and still is a means to an end. But now that he knows he isn’t her father, any real affection he might have felt vanished. “I can’t believe Ursula took half the money. That’s the strangest uncle, niece relationship I’ve ever seen”. I think we are all on board that it is unseemly and frankly, quite creepy.
Can’t wait to see what happens tonight. Can’t wait to read your recap Darcy!
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa. Super job. Plenty of thumbsdown and thumbsup to go around.
I'm guessing Margarita and Ivan's secret had to do with money. Margarita seems to have had scheming in her blood.
About the rich person's house that Mati wants Rayo to squat in, maybe Mati is targeting the home of the only rich person in this tale, Ana Sofi's dad.
Such a shame Celeste stayed with Braulio so long. With no income of her own, no job, illness, and medical expenses, she'll need her friends' and brother's help.
Angel couldn't help but blurt out his love for Julia. Hombre, whether Julia returns your feelings or not, you better just say "no" to Ana Sofi.
Niecie, interesting theory about Mati’s scheme for Rayo. I hadn’t thought of that but he is the only rich guy we know and these novelas are always so hyper-focused. As for Celeste, another PSA for women being able to make a living on their own.
Thanks, Diana. Super job. Like Rgv Chick, I love this line: She [Karen] starts looking at the machines and wiping something off her eyes (it must be frost as she can’t produce tears)...
Rather than savoring her sweet and gentle kiss, gladly given, he [Sebas] cannot leave well enough alone.
What in the world was Sebas thinking? He ran poor Lupita away. I'm so annoyed with him. Does he have nothing else to do? It was her first day on the job for pete's sake. I can see the rumor mill at the office churning full blast.
Comic relief - When Karen asks Eugenio about Fausto's dad's will, Eugenio looks at a framed photo of Fausto's dad (Mark Tacher, in the dual role, with the white bushy eyebrows).
Jarifa, “The first time you hear them, it almost makes you do a double take. I especially like eh "mystery" theme. LOL” YES!!! It’s somewhat distracting. During the Julia/Angel “love” scenes, I feel like I’m watching “Splendor in the Grass;” and the mystery music makes me think of Pink Panther and if there is action it reminds me of Batman or Green Hornet! I’m so distracted, I get “lost” …but your recaps help :-)
Thanks Niecie!
"Comic relief - When Karen asks Eugenio about Fausto's dad's will, Eugenio looks at a framed photo of Fausto's dad (Mark Tacher, in the dual role, with the white bushy eyebrows)" was right!! You had to smile. A little bit Mark Twainish, do you think?? :)
