VENCER LA AUSENCIA #40 Part 1

Notes from the couch . . .

For anyone who saw "Vencer el pasado", these characters in "Vencer la ausencia" are having the DNA paternity tests done at "Biogenelab" which was the lab at the center of the action in "Vencer el pasaado.".

MAIN EVENTS

1. In the flashback, Misael is moaning about his job at Funes to a friend and telling them how he is going to spend some time with one of his girlfriends before going home. He is approached by Zac who wants him to pay him for doing another job at the same time. He assures him that he has to keep his job as a driver and that what he will be asked to do is not illegal.

2. At Ester's gathering with Iván's friends she is about to spread his ashes under the tree where she shared so many happy moments with him, when Cinthia appears with Iván's son Denis in tow. She used the money that Ester sent her to travel down from Laredo. Odd: Earlier, Ester asks Jero NOT to come because it is for Iván and his friends but he ends up showing up anyway. ???

3. Angel fires Mati for being underage. She has no identification card on her and no references to call. Mirna cannot get it into her head that it is ILLEGAL to hire somebody younger than 18 years old.She isn't pleased that she, Angela ndArmando are gong to have to do more to look after Homer.

4. Homero tells Armando he is hearing new noises in the house. After Rayo is notified by Mati of her dismissal, she agrees to stay put because there is nowhere else to go. Rayo goes skulking around the house and is caught by Homero who asks where she is going????

5. On behalf of the Funes company, Braulio receives notice of a lawsuit that Silvano has filed against the Funes company for non-payment of the loan. Braulio takes it into his office and literally "pockets "it.

6. Julia and Angel decide that they are going to go for it. She assures him that she doesn't love Misael anymore. He is going to talk to her father and tell him that they are novios whenever she wants him to. They agree to take it slow because she has to get a divorce and doesn't want to do anything that would upset Danny. Later, Rodolfo sees them kissing outside the apartment building. He angrily reminds Angel that Julia is a married woman.

7. Gina finds out that Ana Sofí has no intention of paying her. Just being there to learn from her should be payment itself. She is not happy with Gina's work because she keeps making excuses for not posting the video of her and Julia fighting. She asks Gina if Julia is her friend. Julia says no, she is her sister. That is the end of her Ana Sofí worship and employment. Gina decides to take what she has learned and become a fantastic influencer in her own right!!! Gina and Julia reconcile.

 

VENCER Part 2

THE REST

1. Braulio is not in favor of Celeste wanting to fulfill herself professionally and get a job.. He emphasizes she is seriously ill no matter how good she is feeling. He angrily tells her that she is going to need him sooner or later and all she is doing now is pushing him away. Earlier, he accuses Ester and Julia of conspiring to turn Celeste against him and he will not have it!!

2. Armando is still trying to get Mirna back especially after a call he gets from Silvano telling him that Misael got away and they need all of the info they can get about him from the Funes house..

3. Rodolfo accuses Julia of having goo-goo eyes just like when things were going well with Misael.

4. Flavia tells Max the she wants a divorce. He said that he only wanted a break to think about things. Well, she has made up her mind and and he started this whole thing anyway. She makes a point of telling Teo as soon as he comes in from school. Max suspects that Flavia might be interested in Her her new partner.. He accuses Jero of taking advantage of his wife. Jero denies it.

5. Ester tells Max where the "ash spreading" event will be. He doesn't agree. She tells him that she is informing him, not asking for any of his input and leaves.

6. Jero is concerned that Cinthia is going to take advantage of Ester now that she sent her money. Ester says she could leave no stone unturned and she is a full grown woman who can handle her own issues.

7. Ana Sofí insists that Julia must be Misael's accomplice. Santino tells her she is going to need overwhelming evidence against Julia to prove that to Angel.

Jarifa, thank you for your excellent rendition of the highlights, lowlights and everything in between.

“That is the end of her Ana Sofí worship and employment” was one of my favorites.

Misael lives; I wonder how much longer.

Braulio withholding the papers that Silvano is suing Angel? What is his angle??

Julia and Angel are far too happy so surely something/someone will tear them apart shortly.

Today’s biggest loser? Max. Married and now not, Ester and Max continue to be out of sync. Ester made the plans for Ivan’s “ceremony” on her own, while making it clear his opinion was irrelevant. I’m a bit surprised she even told Max about it at all. Next, his current wife whom he wanted a break from now wants a divorce! Sometimes, it is best to use caution – be careful what you wish for. And to cap it off, Jero is clearly smitten with Ester and Flavia has Jero clearly in her sights.

I was surprised that Ester told Jero he shouldn’t come to the ceremony, yet she seemed to be glad he showed up. I like her being proactive and decisive. I will have to see more of Cinthia to form an opinion as to whether she is legit or not.

Mati hardly had time to iron her uniform before being cut. How will Rayo explain herself to Homero??

CAMINO EP. 27 Part 1

Dani goes to look for Memo; she wants to talk to him alone. Ursula quickly goes on defensive mode and tells Dani that whatever she needs to say she ill say with her (Ursula) present. Memo intervenes and takes Dani inside to talk. When Leo warns Ursula that her jealousy might distance Memo, Ursula asks if Leo knows something that he is not telling her. Inside, Dani asks Memo if he can come back to work for her...but if he does return, they need to maintain a professional relationship or things won't work out. Memo agrees and assures Dani that he knows where he stands. Outside, Ursula insists that Leo tell her what he knows, but Leo keeps quiet.

Amparo talks to Lupita who wonders when things started going so bad for the family. Amparo encourages her and tells her that they will soon open the restaurant.

At the company, Falso is yelling at Gaby that he needs to obtain that property and she'd better talk to her mother to sell the property. Eugenio had passed by and heard everything, so he goes in and chides Falso for trying to coerce Gaby into talking to her mother about selling.

At the restaurant, everyone is outside when the authorities arrive to remove the closure signs. Everyone cheers! Dani tells Amparo that she is happy for her but has to leave.

After Gaby is asked to leave, Eugenio continues to chide Falso for coercing Gaby in such a manner...even trying to bribe her with a bonus. Falso justifies that by acquiring the property, everyone wins...and assures Eugenio that no one is cheating anyone. Eugenio goes out and assures Gaby that he is not in agreement with Falso's actions. Gaby tells him not to worry...but she feels horrible since Falso gave her the job. Eugenio tells her that the most important thing is the family...and she is not alone there. He then asks her to say hello to her mother and to tell her that he is happy that the restaurant is now open. After Eugenio leaves, Sebas approaches and tells Gaby that he has already made plans for the celebration. Gaby tells him that she hasn't even told Lupita but Sebas is sure they can talk Lupita into going.

Amparo leads the family in prayer to give thanks for the reopening of the restaurant. (And another Leo hat's off sighting!)

Chuchita shows Dani the broken telescope. As they talk, Isa approaches and when she sees the telescope, she cries that she won't be able to see her (bio) mother anymore.

Mac goes to see Falso who can't believe that they opened the restaurant again. When Falso asks Mac if he had anything to do with the inspector's arrest, Mac denies having any part in it.

Gaby returns to the restaurant and Leo tells her that Mac was responsible for the closing of the restaurant...and it was Lupita who told them.

When Falso returns home, Dani confronts him about breaking the telescope. She tries to explain that the telescope was very important to Isa since she relied on it to see the star her mother lives in. Isa comes down the stairs as they argue and hears Falso say that it's obvious that the mother is not living in a star. As they continue to argue, Isa approaches and yells, "Liar! My mother does live in that star!" She cries to Dani and asks her to tell Falso that her mother does love in the star.

Gaby chides Lupita for telling their mother about what Mac did. She and their grandfather were handling it so that their mother wouldn't find out and so that their parents wouldn't fight!

Dani tries to assure Isa that her mother does live in a star, but Falso demands that she not lie to Isa who should know that the world is not a fantasy! After Falso demands respect, Isa cries that Falso doesn't love her anymore...he looks at her in an ugly way and makes her cry! When Isa cries that she wishes Memo were her father, Falso grabs her and is about to hit her when Dani grabs him and pushes him away making him fall and Dani yells that he will NOT touch her daughter!


 

CAMINO Ep 27 Part 2

Gaby is still with Lupita and defends her father...because he is their father! She tells Lupita that everyone deserves a second chance...just like she needed a second chance after she lied about having a job.

Mac approaches Amparo who makes him aware that she knows he lied about paying for the licenses....just one more of his lies. She tells him that he should think about it throughout the night, and he needs to sleep elsewhere. As he asks where he is supposed to sleep, Gaby and Lupita enter. When Amparo repeats that he will need to leave the house, Gaby wants to go with him.

Ursula demands that Memo not work with that woman! If he goes back to work, then he can forget about her!! Her little threat backfires! Memo tells her that if she is going to be so drastic then maybe they need to postpone the wedding until they clear things up!

After Dani takes Isa to her bedroom, she comes back and asks how Falso could dare to try to hit her daughter. Falso blames her for how Isa has changed...ever since Dani allowed her to spend time with commoners and by bringing that trucker into their lives. When Dani wonders why he asked her to bring back Memo. Falso replies that he did only because Isa wouldn't stop crying for Memo. When he adds that he was wrong, Dani thinks that she was the one who was wrong for thinking they they still had the same goals and ways of thinking. After she asks where the man she fell in love with went, Falso retorts that she is the one who has changed...she has more consideration and affection for her employees than she does with her husband.

Amparo tells Gaby that she will NOT leave the house. When Mac pleads that Amparo let him stay, Amparo doesn't budge...he can look for somewhere to sleep. Mac cries and grovels some more to no avail...he takes his leave.

Dani goes to see Isa who cries that she is sad and worries about when Memo finds out that his telescope is in pieces. Dani tells her not to worry; she will explain and Memo will understand. Isa then cries and asks why her father doesn't love her; so Dani tells her that he does love her...he just had a bad day. Dani then tells her that Memo will be returning to work there which brings a smile from Isa. And when Dani tells her that it was her father who convinced Memo to return because she (Isa) was so sad, Isa is excited that her father does loves her!

Gaby tries to convince her mother to forgive her father. Amparo thinks that Gaby is just like her father...she thinks everything is so easy. What their father was very serious. When Gaby tells her that she doesn't want them to separate, Amparo tells her that she will not be able to see their father in the same way. They then worry about how Chema will react when he finds out that Amparo ran off Mac.

After Dani assures that Isa is calm and asleep, she goes to her bedroom in tears. She looks at the wedding photo and continues to cry...she lets it drop and it shatters (just like her marriage!) Meanwhile, Falso and Karen are ON the bed!

Gaby apologizes to Lupita for everything she told her. Sebas then arrives and tells Lupita that they were worried about her. When Lupita rests her head on his chest to cry and tell shim tha her father left.

Gaby then talks to JuanPa and assures her that her father will appreciate what she tried to do. Gaby cries that she thought her parents would be together forever, but it's not happening. JuanPa assures her that their relationship will be strong enough to withstand and storm.

Sebas thinks that they should get rid of sadness with lots of happiness. Lupita feels better and appreciates Sebas being there and allowing her to cry on his shoulder.

Dai is in bed thinking about Memo and the KISS. Meanwhile, Memo is at his favorite place thinking of the KISS too and smiling!


 

CAMINO EP 27 Part 3

Falso and Karen have completed their snake mating dance. Falso hates that he has to leave...the worst part is having to go and pretend that he is sorry; he wishes he could yell at Dani that he hates her. Karen suggests that he stay the night... she'll make sure he won't regret it.

Next morning, Dani wakes up realizing that Falso didn't return. She thinks about sending Falso a text but decides against it. She then goes to see Isa who is gathering her dolls that she will sell to pay Memo for his telescope (which she calls a "cieloscopio" or heavenscope)...because she needs to be responsible for things that are lent to her. Isa wants to go with Chuchita to sell her dolls, but Dani thinks Isa should stay because she is still recovering. When Isa pleads to be allowed to go, Dani agrees...because Isa has a big heart.

Mac enters the restaurant after sleeping in the trailer and is given the cold shoulder by Lupita. When he complains to Amparo, Amparo is not in the mood for his theatrics...and she needs to get to work...she lost a lot of money because of the closure. Ursula then enters and asks Amparo for Memo, so Amparo tells her that he left early to go work with Dani...and see his daughter. After Amparo walks away, Ursula scurries to Mac who asks that she help him get Amparo to forgive him, but Ursula has her own problems. She assures Mac that she knows what to do...and asks for the address to the (Eugenio's) company!

Rgv Chick, you did an outstanding job with this rather somber episode. Your infusion of wry humor was marvelous and greatly appreciated, especially “snake mating dance.” 😊

Your dialog translations are oh so helpful and “Isa approaches and when she sees the telescope, she cries that she won't be able to see her (bio) mother anymore” was such a beautiful sentiment.

This episode was rife with physicality. Fausto actually went after Isabella, trying to hit her before Dani had to physically stop him! Gaby (rather menacingly) backing Lupita into a corner, scolding her for betraying “her papa.” An angry Ursula pushing Memo!

Children should always support their parents. But love differs and, in some situations, loyalty becomes divided. Lupita obviously gravitates toward Amparo and Gaby toward Macario. I am sure Gaby loves Amparo and wanted to protect her. However, Gaby is well aware of her father’s indiscretions and subterfuge and chose to protect him over Amparo. Seeing her father more clearly as to who and what he really is, Lupita chose to tell the truth although neither her grandfather nor sister took that path. That took courage.

“Isa then cries and asks why her father doesn't love her… And when Dani tells her that it was her father who convinced Memo to return because she (Isa) was so sad, Isa is excited that her father does loves her!” That poor confused child.

Instead of merely threatening Ursula with postponing the wedding, Memo should have cancelled it! I doubt Ursula will be going to see Eugenio, I bet she wants Fausto’s help to keep Memo from Daniela.

There were a few sweet moments. Loved the familial Santos chant; Ursula noticeably not joining in and Dani looking so much like she wanted to be a part of it. The family prayers, (save Ursula) grateful that the restaurant will reopen. Lupita and Gaby hugging it out. Isabella’s joyous expression learning Memo is returning!

Excellent recap! I am ahead with episodes so I'll try and not comment too much, a few characters have really pissed me off.
Anywho I really enjoy seeing Leo and Chuchita, separately and together. I hope they get more screentime.
Karen is starting to grow on me. She's so horrible but she's kind of smart. I like her more than Ursula. She wants Falso and is doing everything to get him, including helping our Dani and Memo get together. This type of villana is very rare. I do hope she doesnt lose her edge and gets smarter with her blackmailing and extortions as time goes by. Falso as a character is just too much for me. I cant stand him. Karen is also despicable but Falso for me is the worst. Almost hitting Isabella????? This has just made it clear he is a monster and will never change. Why cant Dani see that?
I understand Gaby.. a little bit. But she's really getting on my nerves. She should just leave with her daddy dearest and realize that soon enough they wont have money or food because of his gambling and lying issues. She needs a wake up call, pronto. A little living alone with Mac would do that.
I'd like to see more of Amparo and Eugenio. They are genuine, nice characters and they like each other. I need more of that, the villains are getting tiring.

Miserable is more like. LOL One funny detail was that Julia is two whole years oder that Angel but he said that was okay. They are so cute together. Sure hope we find out Cinthia's story tonight. The boy is not an infant. Another DNA test at Biogenelab? I want to see Angelique Boyer do a cameo in her lab coat.

This was kind of a rough and joyless episode. Everyone yelling and crying except Karen who is temporarily satisfied because things are going her way.

It’s such a pet peeve for me when people say things like: ‘if they separate it will be your fault for being a gossip’ So, it’s not the fault of the person who made the choice, the fault belongs to the person who revealed the choice? It’s so unhealthy and doesn’t bode well for healthy relationships in Gaby’s future! The idea that she actually thinks it’s okay to deceive her mother to save her father… hopefully she grows up to realize what is wrong with that logic.

I am so tired of watching Isa cry!!! Can we give this child some cheerful plots please? And enough with the daddy doesn’t love me, seriously Uni this doesn’t have to be heartbreak TV!!! Falso is such a horrible human being, he doesn’t deserve to be cried over.

Jarifa, one of the best things about this series is its unpredictability. The story twists, turns and curves, never a straight line. And the characters have showed us time and again to expect the unexpected.

I so appreciate you noted Biogenelab! I completely missed that! To have "Angelique Boyer do a cameo in her lab coat" would be excellent! I can't wait for Erik's ex to make an appearance, he and Africa were very hawt together.

Cinthia's child certainly wasn't an infant. I'm always fuzzy about the timeline and not sure how long ago Ivan was supposed to have passed. It would be nice if he were Ivan's child which would be so comforting and joyous to Ester but...

Thank you, Diana, Lurker and Darcy! "This was kind of a rough and joyless episode." Right you are, Darcy! I find it so difficult to watch Falso yell at Isa...so upsetting and I hated writing about it. I have to keep telling myself, "It's only a story..they are just acting" but still...

Diana, thanks for noting the physicality in the episode. I saw Falso almost hit Isa, but only becasue I replayed the scene. The other 2 scenes I missed completely because of the notetaking. :-(

Lurker, I am totally with you on Gaby; she was getting to me too. She appeared childish with her pleas to allow her scumbag of a father to stay and to be forgiven. I was really hoping that Amparo would let her leave with her papa. About the only good thing she did was to apologize to Lupita for everything she said. Darcy, "The idea that she actually thinks it’s okay to deceive her mother to save her father… hopefully she grows up to realize what is wrong with that logic." I sure hope so too!

Well, let's see what tonight brings...hopeofully less crying and more sweetness.

Iván didn’t die all that long ago. We are talking about months. He was about 20 ? and the child looks to be 2 maybe? I am never good with ages. Iván seemed surprised to receive the communication from Cinthia almost as if he didn’t remember her. I am concerned about Ester’s reaction, too, as you so well noted with the “. . . but . . .” Will she rejoice in Denis or see him as living proof that her perfect son wasn’t perfect and had a life all his own she was not privy to. I remember Jero telling Ester that if she kept asking questions about Iván’s death, she might find out things she would rather not know.

I can’t wait until tonight!

The sun is out and it is in the mid-20’s!

Diana, "one of the best things about this series is its unpredictability. The story twists, turns and curves, never a straight line. And the characters have showed us time and again to expect the unexpected." Very perceptive and great insight! I was amazed at the amount of secrets that are revealed, I always wonder why they didn't title this TN "Vencer Los Secretos" it would have been so much more appropriate...IMO.

I too found it amusing that they are using the kit for at-home DNA testing that Renata developed. How appropriate!

BTW, Ariadne, Danilo, David Z, and Marcos M (Misael) were all in "La Doble Vida de Estella Carrillo" which never got its Season 2...que triste!

Thanks, RgvChick, for your kind comment. “Vencer los secretos” would have been perfect. Maybe they will use that for a future production. The offerings of this “Vencer” franchise have been outstanding and they will probably milk the concept for all they can get out of it. I never saw “La doble vida de Estella Carrillo”. It is funny how groups of actors sometimes are cast together repeatedly.

Rgv Chick "I find it so difficult to watch Falso yell at Isa...so upsetting and I hated writing about it. I'm crossing our fingers we will have less of them although "Satan" is still in the picture so...

Lurker, Gaby does need a "wake up call". She is a good girl overall but has blinders on as far as her father is concerned. I'm sure she will see reality soon enough.

I do recall Ivan's expression upon hearing from Cinthia. It didn't seem as though she was uppermost in his mind. If Cinthia IS trying to take advantage of the situation, I hope she remembers there is a little thing called a DNA test.

"I remember Jero telling Ester that if she kept asking questions about Iván’s death, she might find out things she would rather not know". Jarifa, I had forgotten that. It appears his musings might very well come to pass.

"BTW, Ariadne, Danilo, David Z, and Marcos M (Misael) were all in "La Doble Vida de Estella Carrillo" which never got its Season 2...que triste!" Thank you Rgv Chick!! They (and Camino's Ursula) were all in the cast. I loved it and this was one of the few TNs I had hoped would have a second season.

Thanks, Jarifa, I enjoyed your notes from the couch. When I saw Celeste with an envelope my first thought was she found the letter Braulio had pocketed. Disappointed to learn it was the DNA test. And guess there will be another one, for Ivan’s son! I don’t remember him hearing from a Cinthia, so that was the last thing I expected. If she used the money to travel there I think she is probably not trying to take advantage of the situation

I wonder if Braulio is just out for himself. By pocketing the note about the lawsuit he is helping Silvano but I feel like he’s done something shady on his own. Somehow he’s going to benefit by ruining the company. I feel he thinks he’s smarter than anyone else and has done something crooked.

I was so glad Rayo got caught! I’m sure Homero is her dad! I was hoping he’d recognize her mother in her! Anxious to see what happens. I feel that he’s going to cover for Rayo! Was also glad Angel asked the right questions and fired Mati!

Also glad Gina left Ana Sofia! Can’t believe Ana Sofia had no intention of ever paying her. She caught on to AnaSofia faster than Angel did!

What game is Flavia playing? Because she got Max from Ester is she that sure she will get Jero! And I had assumed she loved Max. Looks like her goal in life is to ruin Ester’s life!

This was another great episode! With lots of positives!

Camino Isabela's crying is getting to me a bit, especially when she was cryingbecause Daniela fired Memo. I think at that point it just began to seem she's that kind of child who has never heard a no in her life. I can't believe cieloscopio was another way to call a telescope in Spanish. When Fausto was going on about how Isabela should learn life isn't a fantasy, Daniela was like 'she's six years old.' I remember laughing at that part.
Lurker, I so agree with you about Karen and Gabriela. Karen is actually rather sneeky whereas Ursula's tantrums and schemes either don't work or backfire. Even the whole pregnancy angle isn't something she came up with. I wonder who will have to suggest a miscarriage to her because it's either this or resuming those meetings with her ex so she'd have a child. Unless the wedding doesn't take place.
I can't stand characters like Gabriela. 'he is my father...' So? He's a liar and a gambler as well and he tricked your whole family. What I don't understand is how Gabriela doesn't see that her father wasn't thinking about her and her siblings when he helped to close the restaurant. I suppose she doesn't want to see it but she should really get to see what her father's motives are. That constant talk about parents having to stay together seems to have done her more harm than good. Amparo's father goes on about this at one point and I bet it's this sort of attitude that Gabriela has. Though what's the point of having a marriage full of secrets? It's not the first time her father did something that hurt Amparo so he's not on his 'second' chance but more like on his millionth.
If I were Daniela, I would feel as if I were being gaslighted because Fausto's behaviour should really confuse her. One minute he is horrible to Isabela, then all of a sudden he tells her he wants Memo back because Isabela is unhappy. Previously he's been really cold towards her and made it clear he couldn't stand the 'trailero'. But I suppose Daniela thinks he still loves his daughter. It's a pity she broke that picture because she won't have anything to break once she finds out the truth. She should get something of Karen's in some episode I hope otherwise she won't have where to put all that rage.

Thanks, Jarifa. Super job. I'm glad you pointed out Biogenelab is the source of the DNA tests. I'd love to see cameos from the Vencer el Pasado crew.

I've nothing but questions about Ivan. From the flashback of Cinthia phoning Ivan, she wasn't sure if he'd remember her. Seems like she waited a long time to tell him about the pregnancy/baby, though we don't see her make this announcement.

Rodolfo was so funny imitating Julia's goo-goo eyes and smile. I think he'll calm down about Angel, but honestly Julia and Angel were PDAing so much I was afraid Danny would see them.

Yay, Angel is sharper than Mati and bounces her butt right out of there. But Rayo (thankfully) is a rotten liar, so what will she say to Homero?

I would disagree with having Isa sell her stuff to replace the telescope. Her father deliberately broke it and he needs to replace it. Isa can’t be held responsible for a dad with anger management problems.

Fausto was at his worse this episode. Yelling and almost hitting Isa. And yelling at Gabby. I think after Dani dropped the picture she should have put her foot on it and done more damage!

I am now worried about Eugenio. I’d like to see him wind up with Amparo, but if Fausto has him killed that won’t happen. And we know Fausto and Karen are both killers! Karen can be nice, if it benefits her, and I do wonder what she sees in Fausto.

It was very obvious, when the family was praying, that Ursula was not. Yes, it is too bad Memo didn’t call off the wedding when Ursula tried to demand he not work with Dani.

I’d be glad if Leo keeps his hat on. He looks so different with it off Like a different person!

It looked to me like Falso was going to grab Isa and spank her on her behind, so I wasn't as ticked as I would've been if he intended to smack her in the face. I know corporal punishment is out now, but it used to be routine. Clearly this wasn't the way to handle the situation and they've never spanked Isa before, so Dani must be thinking Falso is really losing it.

Lupita and Gaby have a right to their opinions, but bottomline they need to stay out of it. It's Amparo's marriage, not theirs and they're pretty much grown. So Amparo should keep Macario, while her daughters eventually go off and live their own lives? I'm wondering if Marcario really slept in his trailer, or if he was with his mistress.

VENCER #41 Part 1

Notes from the couch. . . the "Exactly what we have been waiting for or what a PSA!!!" edition

FLASHBACK

Iván is chatting with Cinthia. She asks him if he remembers everything that went on when they met at that party. He smiles and says yes. ( I had to do some research on the Mexican school system to get this right because Iván and Cinthia are both a lot younger than I thought. He was finishing jr. high school /secundaria ages 12-15/ and she was already going to high school /preparatoria ages 15-18/.) She was one year older than he was ands mentions he was no longer a little kid. Iván is still smiling. He asks her why she looked him up . What did they have to talk about? She needs his help because that time they saw each other ended with a consequence. He tells her not to beat around the bush. She sends him an emoji of a pregnant girl. He tells her they aren't playing so what is this about??? She tells him to stop playing stupid. She got pregnant. The baby is now three years old. Iván looks like he has been bludgeoned as Ester happily chirps in the background about how his only responsibility is school . . .

ESTER: "A mother always wants to believe that they know their child very well; that she can have a certain amount of control over their decisions including sensing what is happening to them but is that really true or just hope?"

PRESENT

1. Ester is appalled and cannot believe what Cinthia is saying. Jero tells Cinthia this is neither the time or the place. Cynthia asks who he is and why is he sticking his nose in something that is not his business??? She wants to talk but to Ester alone. Jero tells them all the ceremony has been postponed and they will be notified when it is rescheduled. Ester agrees to talk to Cinthia in her apartment. Jero is left holding the ashes.


 

VENCER Part 2

2. Rodolfo tells Angel, in no uncertain terms, that he cannot have any kind relationship with his daughter because she is still married. Julia is sorry that her father had to find out like this but she does have a relationship with Angel. She fell in love with him and that is not a crime. She will take care of her situation with Misael because she has a right to fall in love again and be happy.

3. Rayo tells Mati that Homero saw her but she is still in her room. Mati says they said that the old guy forgets everything. Rayo is concerned he will remember her. Mati says he probably thinks that she is the ghost of his wife.

4. Homero asks Armando if his illness is advancing. Armando says yes. He will forget more things and see things that are not there. His losses of contact with reality will become more frequent. Homero thanks him for his honesty and smiles.

5. At the apartment, Ester thinks that the boy is Iván's because he looks so much like him. She asks Jero to leave so she can talk to Cinthia alone. Ester asks why did she come now? Why did they know nothing about Denis? Cinthia will tell her all she wants to know.

6. Angel goes with Julia to pick up Danny. They are both sorry that Rodolfo had to find out like he did. She tells him again they have to take things slowly. He invites her out on a date where her only response can be "yes." . They laugh.

7. Cinthia is smiling when she tells Ester that she had a novio when she went to a party and met Iván where they really hit it off. She asks if she has to explain how babies are made. Ester says NO but does want to know why they didn't use protection. There is so much info out there about pregnancy prevention. She says it just happened and that they didn't even think about pregnancy prevention. Cinthia makes it clear that she didn't do it alone, Iván participated. Ester says that she talked to him about taking care of himself once and thought he had a real clear idea of how to be responsible. Cinthia says she already told her that they didn't plan to be together but they just were. Cinthia goes on to explain that after that her ex gave her a line about going to the USA where everything would be better, she took off with him. She let her ex think the baby it was his but according to the calendar, she knew the baby was Ivan's. Ester cannot believe it. Cinthia tells Ester to put herself in her place. She knew the baby was Ivan's but she was not stupid so she was not going to admit to her ex that she had cheated on him. Her ex ended up abandoning them. She was left on the street with her child so that is when she decided to contact her for help. She asks Ester if her son is not Iván's clone. Ester doesn't know what to believe. Cinthia is willing for Denis her son to take a DNA test but tells her that when Iván met his son he had no doubts that he was his. Ester is shocked that he met the child. Cinthia explains when Iván went up to Laredo, he met Denis. It was the first and last time they saw each other.
 

VENCER Part 3

8. Celeste is on her computer looking up all of her old friends from university to see what they have done with their lives. She starts to make contact with them to revive their friendships. Braulio calls her asking if she would be interested in going to see a movie or out to eat since he doesn't want her to feel like she is locked in. She says she doesn't feel like going out. No, there is nothing wrong. She is feeing better than ever. He thinks that she doesn't want to go out with him until it is proven that he is not Rayo's father. She doesn't want to talk about that. He plays the martyr.

9. Cinthia tells Ester that Iván wanted to tell her everything when he got back from Laredo. He didn't know if he wanted to do the exchange program or leave it so he could support his child. She didn't hear from him and then she found out on Amibuk that he was dead. Ester asks if anyone else knew about Denis. Cinthia says that he mentioned having told a Margarita about him. Ester now understands the messages between them. She tells Cinthia that Margarita also died in the accident. Ester asks if Cinthia has somewhere to go or stay. Cinthia says her parents don't live in Mexico City and she used the money that Ester sent her to buy their plane tickets. They have nowhere to stay. Ester Tells Cinthia she can stay with her. Cinthia smiles.

10. Flavia apologizes for all the terrible things that her husband said to Jero. Jero says no problem but he would like to clarify with Max that what he was insinuating had nothing to do with reality. Flavia smiles and says she only wanted to make sure that their friendship and business association would not be affected by his comments. She values his friendship and his advice. Jero says she can count on his friendship. They get to work on the menu.

11. Julia tells Chepina that Rodolfo caught her and Angel kissing each other. She has never seen him so angry. Julia adds that it isn't only this. Her father has been strange the last several days. Julia tells Chepina that Angel reacted like the gentleman he is. Julia is ready to be out of the Misael situation and free to go on with Angel.

12. While out with Danny for ice cream, Gina runs into Erik. She cannot wait to burn the social networks with what she has to say about Ana Sofí. She is going to get a step ahead of her on the social networks. He is more of a love and peace guy. Well, Gina isn't going for that.

13. Ana Sofí is with Mirna. Ana Sofí is saying she has to think of super plan to take Julia and Gina down. Mirna is worried that Sergio is coming back from Monterrey and will find out that she doesn't study or work. Ana Sofí decides to get away from her stress by going shopping and invites Mirna.

14. Homero tells Angel that they say you cannot hide love or money. He is so pleased that things are going so well with Julia. Armando informs them that Mirna has not come back yet so he will stay a while longer. Angel tells him there is no reason that he should have a longer work day, he will fill in. Armando is agreeing to stay when Mirna coms rushing in. Angel tells her that she has to respect Armando's schedule. She repeats that she is there. Sergio unexpectedly at the door. He is there to talk to Mirna only or a moment and doesn't want to interrupt anything. Angel leaves while Sergio introduces himself to Homero. Armando watches.
 

VENCER Part 4

16. Rayo texts Mati that the old man didn't give her up. He probably thought he imagined her. She says she was surprised but thinks he looked like a good guy. He had a sad look in his eyes. They agree to see each other tomorrow.

17. Ester tells Cinthia that if they are cold, just ask her and she will get them another blanket. Cinthia says not to worry; they are used to not having much. Ester says that Denis reminds her so much of Iván. Cinthia makes it clear that she and Iván didn't know each other that well and that the only reason that she is there is because she needs her help. Ester makes it clear the she will support her and they can talk later.

18. Sergio is not happy seeing that Armando WORKS at Mirna's house. Armando explains that he is leaving. Mirna says he is her father's nurse and is insignificant. Sergio is not happy with what she told him before about Armando going out with her. She says that Armando was nothing; nothing like the relationship they have. Sergio says he is in love with her but doesn't want to start a relationship based on lies. He is not angry, just disappointed and hurt. He has been transparent with her. He is sorry but they cannot continue like this. Mirna cannot believe it!! After seeing Armando's reaction, he thinks the relationship was more serious than what she told him. He needs time to think it over.

19. Ester tells Jero that she believes Cinthia. Jero thinks that she could be telling the truth but she also could be setting her up to take advantage of her. Ester says if he knew Iván as a little boy, he would see how Denis looks just like him. She feels in her heart he is her grandson. Jero emphasizes how important a DNA test is in this case to be sure. Ester agrees. She is happy that she might have the chance to give all the love she had for her son to her grandson. Jero understand her hope but the situation is worrisome for him. She doesn't want to talk too much about her own life in front of Cinthia and asks him if they can pretend to be a couple again. He says sure. He was going to suggest that anyway.

20. Angel is at his place ready to make pasta for Julia and asking Alexa which wine would be best to serve. Alexa dims the lights and Julia arrives. With a big smile, he makes it clear that he didn't invite her over to spend the night with him. He just wants to chat with her so they get to now each other better and for her to enjoy the dinner he made for her. She says she hopes so. They grab each other and kiss. He makes a point of saying that he will take her home. She laments how dangerous it has become for women to travel out alone at night. She appreciates him for thinking like a . . . woman. They both get a good laugh. He tells her that they both have the right to be in love and happy. That is why she hopes that the police solve the Misael situation soon so that they can be together. They kiss some more.

21. The next morning, Jero asks what Iván's reaction was when he found out he was a father. Cinthia says he was at first shocked but then got excited when he saw how Denis looked like him. What he was really worried about was how Ester was going to react with him leaving the exchange program to find a job. Ester sees that her son wanted to support them. Cinthia makes it clear that Iván didn't need a DNA test to know that Denis was his son but if Ester wants one, it will be done. Cinthia was born in Guanajuato and after junior high she came to live with an aunt in Mexico City who gave her food and board in exchange for helping out. When she started high school, nothing ended up turning out like she had planned. Ester assures he she will help her. Ester asks why the name Denis? Cinthia explains she she was a kid she saw a cartoon character; a little boy named Denis who was always happy.
 

VENCER Part 5

22. Ester goes to leave for work when Max arrives wanting to know what happened with Ivan's ashes. She introduces Max to his grandson Denis.

23. Julia wants to talk to Rodolfo after taking Danny to school. She likes things out in the open. He brings up how he told her that he didn't want Angel to be around Danny all the time. She asks how is it that he really liked Angel in the beginning but not now. He says it is exactly what he just said.

24. Max is surprised. He thinks a DNA test is in order to assure them that he is Iván's son. Cynthia's tired of hearing about a DNA test. Jero asks her not to take it the wrong way. because it is the only way to assure everyone that he is Iván's son. Ester has to go to work. Jero will stay with Cinthia until she gets home. Max is going to stay for awhile, too. Cinthia excuses herself.

25. Celeste gets off the phone with Biogenelab and tells Braulio they will have the results of the DNA test today. She thinks he looks nervous because of the test. He says he is nervous because of work not because his wife doesn't trust him and thinks he is the father of that brat. . . excuse him . . . of Rayito.

26. Max tells Jero that he has been on the receiving end of some very unpleasant surprises. First , there was being asked for a divorce, a grandson he didn't know about and now a renter who has a very close relationship with his second wife while being the novio of his first wife. Jero explains that he is involved romantically with Ester. As for Flavia, their relationship is purely a business one. He is a respectful person. Max laughs. How can he be respectful when Jero is involved with the women in his life? (This makes NO sense) He sees Jero as a social climber out take advantage of the situations. Jero won't be talked to in that way. He wants him to keep things on good terms so they both need to respect each other.

27. Ariel tries to talk Gina into modeling again and to forget about revenge when it comes to Ana Sofí. She is not buying it. She has started her plan to get that witch off of her broom.

28. Mirna complains to Ana Sofí that Sergio, the love of her life, is all set to break up with her all because of Armando. Ana Sofí thinks it is her own fault. She warned her about going out with the nurse. Now she has to face the consequences. That is what you get for getting involved with the working class! Ana Sofí starts to complain again about Angel going out with Julia and her little sister having worked for her. More problems with the working class! Ana Sofí says the worst thing is that she gave allof her passwords to her social media to Gina and she has locked them all. Mirna cannot believe it. Ana Sofí will make sure she pays.


 

VENCER Part 6

29. Cinthia and Jero play with Denis at the table. They talk about real Mexican food. Jero would like to know a bit more about her. Cinthia gets on her high horse and says the only one who can question her is Ester not him. Cinthia says she isn't there because she wants to be. She needs Ester's help. Jero says he understands and they will support her. He asks if she has any other interests like wanting to study or travel. Cinthia isn't talking.

30. At the school, Danny is all excited and asks Julia when they are going to be with Angel again. When she tries to evade the question, Rodolfo offers to take him to do some fun things. Danny writes his grandfather off and goes into the school. Rodolfo is worried that Danny is going to get all involved with a stranger and then he will forget about his father. Julia reminds him that he never liked Misael.

31. Jero says he has two sons of his own and thinks that goals are important. That is why he asked her what he did. Cinthia repeats that Ester is the only one who can ask her questions. She then adds that she needs money for family matters. Jero asks what kind of family matters. She asks what does it matter. She needs money to support her son. That is all there is to know. That is why she contacted Iván. Cinthia explains she doesn't want to be a burden for them but she needs help. Jero has news for Cinthia. He and Ester are a couple and everything has to go by her and HIM. He will not allow anyone to take advantage of her. She takes her son and goes back to her room.

32. Ester is at work now making sense of Iván's Laredo trip. She starts to blame herself for not paying enough attention. She thinks back on all of the calls she had with Iván.

33. Angel explains to Braulio that he couldn't talk to his father about any more about plans for the company. There was too much going on at the house. Braulio asks if Santino has communicated somehow with him. Angel says no and says and that he has a bad feeling that Santino is planning something. Braulio thinks that the answer is to look for a new partner. Santino wasn't the one but there must be others out there to help them save the ship from going down. Braulio doesn't want to her about the cooperative idea again. Braulio knows he is busy with so much at home so he is offering to see who he can find. He asks Angel to trust him.

34. Rayo is out with Mati and one of the guys. He got out of being arrested because he is father had connections and money. The other guy Lionel got picked up by the police and wasn't released. Mati thinks they should get some money together to send to him. You need money for everything in jail. The scheme sounds like robbery to Rayo. Mati doesn't want to hear it.

35. Cinthia is on the phone with Ester telling her that she cannot stand Jero. He is a busybody. Ester tells her to calm down. Cintia threatens to leave the house if he keeps aggravating her with his questions.

36. Celeste picks up the DNA test results at Biogenelab. She opens the envelope and looks at them.

37. Julia is with Rodolfo at the hospital. She has no idea why they are there. He takes her to a room to show her what he has been hiding. It is Misael who looks like he is all beaten up, unconscious in a bed.

ESTER: "Hope can disguise the truth for a while but any day reality can decide to reveal itself in its starkest form."

Camino #28 Lies of Deceit; Lies of Omission Part 1

Lying is done with words and also with silence – Adrienne Rick

Chuchita is pleased Memo is back. As they chat in the kitchen, Isabella arrives, her ear-to-ear smile radiating her happiness. As Memo crouches down, she runs into his arms. Isabella claps with delight as Daniela smiles, reveling in the joy of her daughter. Daniela tells Memo they should go but Isabela reminds her they need to tell Memo about the telescope. She somberly does so as Memo looks over Isa’s shoulder at Daniela.

Amparo is at work, teary eyed as she seeks Humberto’s support and comfort. As she cries on his shoulder, he asks her what she will do. Amparo admits she doesn’t think she can forgive Macario.

Gabriela tells the ever-hopeful Sebastian that she thinks he may have a chance with Lupita but warns him to be careful and not mess it up!

Amparo and Humberto sit and discuss Gaby knowing what Macario had done. He tells her that Gaby wanted to avoid a fight between her and Macario. She obtained a loan so Macario could pay off his debt. All marriages have problems he assures her, everyone makes mistakes. Amparo is having a difficult time trying to forgive his lies. Humberto admits what Macario did is very serious but asks her to remember how happy she was when she married him. Amparo believes her mistake was in believing that Macario was honest and loyal. Like Humberto.

Memo and Dani are working, selecting plants. He wants to talk with her and asks Daniela exactly what happened with the telescope. Dani apologizes…they will pay for it. Looking concerned, Memo explains he isn’t asking that they pay for it – he is worried about Isabela! Seeing her distraught expression, Memo asks her if everything is all right. Dani averts her eyes and says no; nothing is all right. Memo gently urges her to confide in him, to tell him her troubles since she has always done so. Dani agrees that it does help her when she speaks to him …she has missed him. Memo has missed her too!

Ursula, clad in a lumberjack shirt, tries to strut past Gaby as she asks why she is there. She is there to see Fausto (no surprise) and after lying to Gaby that she has a message for Fausto from Amparo, she is directed to his office. He greets her with a withering look and furiously asks what the hell she is doing there. Ursula mocks him for asking Memo to return to work for Dani when they are supposed to be trying to separate them!! He tells her to leave but she has no intention of doing so and sits down, making herself comfortable. Karen comes in during all of this and Ursula tries to shoo her out much to Karen’s ire and indignation. She leaves only when Fausto tells her to. Ursula assures Fausto he will want to hear what she has to say…Memo has a very good reason to be in his and his wife’s life!

Camino #28 Lies of Deceit; Lies of Omission Part 2

Memo takes Daniela to his favorite place, an overlook affording a beautiful, idyllic view. It is where he goes when he needs to make an important decision. He was there last night. When Daniela asks him to confide in her, he hesitates but after she insists, he tells her that he wants to cancel his wedding. He never knew real love until he met Isabella…and her. He fell in love with an impossible love. After this declaration, memo thinks Dani is going to fire him for what he just said but she assures him she won’t. They stare deeply into each other’s eyes, their hearts beating in sync and as Daniela moves closer, their lips gently part and meet in a soft yet soul stirring passionate kiss. If there was ever a time to gently and lovingly explain he is Isabela’s father, this surely was it. And yet, the words go unspoken; the truth still hidden. The truth will be revealed, but not here. Not now. Not to Daniela.

Ursula tells Fausto that years ago, Memo had a girlfriend, Olivia. She spins the story that Olivia wrote Memo a letter explaining they had a daughter. Further, the address she provided where he could find her…is Fausto’s!! Isabela is Memo’s daughter. Fausto is incredulous and spews that there is no way! But Ursula assures him that Isabela is indeed Memo’s daughter.

Daniela cries to Memo that she doesn’t feel good; she did everything possible to convince herself that what she was feeling was temporary and would pass. But the truth is she needs him! She had a life, a marriage, but it was Memo who made her realize she wasn’t happy. Her love for Isabela is what gives her strength, but she feels utterly alone. Memo assures her she is not alone! She thought she should fight for her marriage but realized there has been nothing between her and Fausto for some time. Memo asks if she still loves Fausto.

Fausto asks Ursula who else knows that Isa is Memo’s daughter. She tells him that Leo knows. Fausto says he’ll take care of it, but Ursula tells him not to get involved. Ursula leaves as Karen enters demanding to know what that woman told him that got him so upset. Fausto screams to leave him alone! He pounds on the desk in frustration.

Ursula looks like the cat who swallowed the canary as she smooths out Gaby’s hair, asking that she not tell anyone she was there. Gaby asked if Fausto offered money and told her Fausto had offered her bonus money. Ursula wouldn’t be surprised if Macario asked for money to pressure Amparo to sell. Ursula kisses her and rushes off.

Chuchita is selling her clothes at the market, Isabela is hawking her stuffed animals and dolls. When a customer approaches to talk to Chuchita about a dress she made, sharp, enterprising Isabela asks if she has a daughter that would like a doll! The woman smilingly agrees but before she hands the doll over, Isabela kisses it, sweetly assuring her she is going to a new home where she will be loved.

Camino #28 Lies of Deceit; Lies of Omission Part 3

Daniela looks Memo in the eyes and declares that while she hates to admit it, she doesn’t love Fausto anymore. She knows this as her heart was empty until Memo filled it. The light of love is shining brightly in Memo’s eyes as he tells her he feels the same. Daniela never thought Memo would change her life but there is no one like him! Unable to deny his feelings any longer, he declares “Daniela, I am in love with you”. Dani echoes his loving declaration and echoes his sentiment – she is love with him too! Another sweet kiss ensues.

Chuchita is impressed with Isabela’s successful sales tactics, and playfully bumps against her, trying to get Isa’s good luck to pass onto her.

Macario comes home to talk but finds cartons packed with his things wrapped with twine. Mujer, he says kissing her hand, but his smarmy charms aren’t working as she pushes him away and crosses her arms. His things are ready; she needs time, and she wants him to leave NOW!

Dani tells Memo that they can’t continue with how they feel without putting things in order. She can’t lie…and she is going to ask Fausto for a divorce. Dani worries about how Isa will react. Dani expresses regret that her happiness will cause someone else pain. Memo assures he that he can’t marry Ursula loving Dani the way he does…Ursula doesn’t deserve that. He brings her closer as Dani leans on his shoulder.

Ursula visits Humberto claiming to be happy they got the restaurant back and innocently asking after Memo. When he tells her Memo isn’t there, she decides to look for Amparo. As she starts to walk through the door, she flop faints. Humberto jumps up extremely concerned.

Macario fakes tears but Amparo continues to chastise him for what he did to the family. Macario is refusing to leave!

Humberto asks Ursula if she is all right. She says the wedding is in a week, but Memo is thinking of canceling! He tells her to calm down and they will find a solution. He wants to get a doctor; naturally she stops him. He then says he will take her to the doctor. Crafty Ursula tells him she has already gone and had some tests done…but she hasn’t returned for the results.

Amparo and Macario are at a standstill arguing as to whether he stays or goes. He thinks she is treating him like a mangy dog! (If the title fits, I shrug…) Amparo threatens to throw all his things he in the street. He tries to wheedle but she calls him a traitor. He kneels, arms wide open and kisses her hand. She is unmoved. He gets up and aims at her Achilles heel, the children. He knows Lupita and Gaby don’t want him to leave and of course, there is Chema. When he asks that she not to destroy the family, she tells him he should have thought of her and their children before he did what he did! He tries to grab her, but she leaves. He angrily starts taking his clothes out of the box.

Memo and Dani show up at the marketplace. Isa relates her success in selling the dolls and shows off her dinero. Isa wants to give him the money to pay for the telescope. Initially, he doesn’t want to take it but Dani convinces him to do so. Dani comments that WHEN he has children, he will be a great father. Viewerville hears the ringing alarm bells but sadly, they are not reverberating in Memo’s head. They dance after Memo suggests a name for Chuchita’s booth.

Fausto and Eugenio talk. I’m completely distracted by Eugenio’s sharp appearance, dark suit, striped shirt and light blue patterned shirt and matching pocket square. Looking good! I digress…Eugenio repeats that what Fausto did to Gaby was wrong and Fausto surprisingly agrees. Eugenio doesn’t like to have disagreements between them. He sees Fausto as a son and has always wanted to give him what is best. Fausto tells him to give him his inheritance, but Eugenio reminds him he must honor his father’s wishes as outlined in his will. After Eugenio leaves Fausto hisses that he will one day have everything and will send Eugenio to hell!

Humberto has brought Ursula to the unethical doctor who proceeds to pull out the (falsified) results. We see Ursula open the paper and the unmistakable word “Positivo.” Humberto exclaims he is going to be a grandfather and Ursula feigns surprise and excitement.

Camino #28 Lies of Deceit; Lies of Omission Part 5 (Last)

Dani and Isabela are back home, Isa being happy she is going to be checked out and approved to go back to school. She wants to go to Memo’s, but he has something important to do.

Humberto is about as animated as we’ve ever seen him. I’m going to be a mother Ursula smiles! She frets about how Memo will react as she rubs her flat stomach. Humberto assures her Memo is a Santos and will do the right thing by marrying her. Thank you, she evil smiles as he tells her to be calm.

Isa is released to go to school and Chuchita arrives at just the right moment to whisk Isa away. Satan appears wanting to talk with Dani. Dani points out that Chuchita is more interested in Isa’s release than he is. Fausto tells her there are serious problems and Dani wholeheartedly agrees. She is just about to ask him for a divorce when Fausto cuts her off, telling her that the “trailero” has fooled them in the worst way!

Meanwhile, Ursula shows up at Memo’s. She gives him a beer as he looks confused. Beaming, she shows him the test results. I’m pregnant; we are going to have a child.

Dani chides Fausto for bringing Memo into their conversation. Fausto interrupts and scathingly tells her that Memo has lied and has been making fools of them this entire time. That traitor is Isa’s biological father! Dani’s eyes widen slightly as she struggles to understand the incomprehensible.

Almost all of tonight's dialogue was far beyond my understanding. Rgv Chick filled in so admirably and it is thanks to her kindess and generosity that the recap has coherent dialog. I'm so grateful.

Memo had several chances to tell Daniela the truth and sadly, those were his last chances.

Having Humberto accompany Ursula to the doctor's was a stroke of genius. Color me impressed.

Thanks, Jarifa, lots happened last night and the dialogue was too much for me!

So far, I don’t like Cinthia. She interrupted the ceremony (funeral)of Ivan, and announced in front of the crowd that this was Ivan’s son. Then was rude to Jero, whose apartment she is staying in! Plus, she was going to pass the baby off as her boyfriend’s. Actually, she did until he deserted them!

I really want Rayo and Homero to become friends. I think they will be good for each other. But it looks like Homero is convinced he is seeing and hearing things.

I can’t imagine why Sergio is so mad at Mirna. She didn’t lie to him. I thought she told him they went out but he meant nothing. Why would it make a difference because he works in the house? And Sergio lied to Angel when he met him! Is this part of a bigger plan?

Max is pretty possessive of Ester! They’ve been divorced for years. He seems to think Jero is stealing “his women”. He should realize how Flavia is. This is what she did to Ester once already.

Wonder what partner Braulio will dig up. I’m thinking he wants the company. “Trust me” coming from him was not reassuring.

So Rodolfo knew Misael was at the hospital! Hope we find out how all that came about tonight!

So, Max thinks he still has some sort of dibs or ownership on his exes? Something wrong in that noggin.

if Misael will regain consciousness and be able to tell what happened to him or will Santino get to him first to shut him up.

if Denis will be taking a DNA test ASAP.

how long Rayo can stay hidden. I said it once, I will say it again. She is looking in need of a bath and clean clothes.

how much more Gina has in store for Ana Sofí.

if Mirna will ever see Sergio again. If he does come back, how will he feel when he realizes she has no ambitions outside of the home which she has also misled him on.

Thank you Diana for bringing your warmth and compassion into the retelling of this episode. You paint a beautifully sad picture.

I was kind of distracted by all the novela troupes thrown into one episode! Fainting while fake pregnant, great love reveal while hiding bigger secrets, the rushing home to end the other relationships this very night only to learn about said fake pregnancy and painful truth all in one foul swoop!!! All of that in one episode??? It was a lot to process which is probably why I couldn’t even feel excited for Dani and Memo’s declaration of love it just felt like waiting for the shoe to drop.

It’s putting Memo is unforgivable!!! I could have a certain sympathy for her up until that point but she is 100% villain now! You can’t claim to have any kind of legitimate love for someone and be capable of hurting them in that way!!! She’s evil, and now evil fake pregnant so we all know what that means…. Although in this case Dani has Memo’s child too so the choice to stay with one woman for the kid may be more complicated.

We needed more positivity in this! Watching Isa sell her dolls was cute, but also sad, and I don’t think a six year old should have to sell her toys to pay for a telescope her father ruined in a fit of anger!!

I like how you called Fausto, Satan!! Lol

Liz, I am not sure about Cinthia. Why would she be so secretive about her life unless she had something else to hide? I do not doubt that Denis is Iván’s son but I feel she could be on the grift in some way anyway.

The love Memo and Dani share is not lasting very long! I expected a few happy episodes! Ursula was horrible. Maybe Karen will be able to get her. After all, Karen almost had what she wanted. And I guess she’ll hear all about it from Danny. And we still have Cesar, the husband, to step in and do some damage!

I’m not sure why Humberto is encouraging Amparo to save her marriage. I always got the impression he knew most of Macario’s shortcomings. I would think he’d be rooting for her to throw the bum out!

Guess Gaby is the one to go to when you have a secret. She likes to keep them!

Yes, Memo had the perfect opportunity to confess all. And now it’s too late! The bad guys are outnumbered but they sure seem to be winning!

What an episode! What a recap! Jarifa, you’ve now set the bar sky high – this was exceptional!

“Jero is left holding the ashes” made me smile and was a favorite among many. This was indeed threaded with PSAs but at least a bit of happiness for once!

Ivan and Cinthia were not a love story, but Denis, a joyous result of their chance encounter. A major mystery revealed. I’ve no doubt he is Ivan’s. Ester felt it in her heart as well. “She is happy that she might have the chance to give all the love she had for her son to her grandson”. Ester’s face has already notably softened, and the veil of unhappiness lifted. Proof positive there is a God.

A bit of vindication for Margarita.

“Alexa dims the lights and Julia arrives”. An oasis of happiness…I think the actors have explosive chemistry. Hmmm. Misael doesn’t look like he is in peak form, does he? No wonder Rodolfo was so upset.

“He plays the martyr”. I hope Celeste forges ahead. Alone.

“They get to work on the menu”. Yes, and Flavia is planning on having Jero for the appetizer, main course and dessert.

I couldn’t figure out what happened when Homero saw Rayo but you explained it. “She says she was surprised but thinks he looked like a good guy. He had a sad look in his eyes” made me wonder if she was looking into her father’s eyes.

“Cinthia explains she she was a kid she saw a cartoon character; a little boy named Denis who was always happy”. I smiled thinking of Dennis the menace, who was hardly that and always held a smile. It also seemed as though Denis is being played by a non actor. In one scene he was holding something up to Ester’s mouth when she was speaking, but she smiled and kept on talking. Did anyone else think that?

The sour note? “ He and Ester are a couple and everything has to go by her and HIM”. Overstepping a bit Jero…

The writers did an amazing job explaining everything that transpired with Ivan. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I am a bit chagrined that there was no spot of sunshine last night, at least any that I can recall. Yes, the small hopefulness of Memo and Dani's declaration of love faded almost instantaneously. Sebas being told he might have a real chance with Lupita wasn't enough. Actually, it was far from enough.

I'm stiffening my spine as I expect tonight's episode to be just as dismal for me to recap.

The sun will come out. But sadly, just not tomorrow.

Humberto seems to be old school but that's no excuse. He should have encouraged Amparo to leave Macario. Apparently Macario trying to sell Amparo's land out from under her wasn't enough. I wonder if he will change his tune when he finds out Macario is cheating (which we assume he is from the opening credits).

The few sprinkles of fairy dust that dropped last night hardly settled before they blew away in the wind.

I have to learn how to laugh when so called "upper class" people waste so much time and energy attempting to force their perceived inferiors to "learn their place." Ana Sofi is an immature brat and the worst of this is that Silvano doesn't seem to care about it and isn't making her take much responsibility for anything. She is worse than Paris Hilton ever was.

Maximo seems to have recognized that Flavia lives her life by stealing other women's men to suit her own ego and that now she is looking to victimize Esther a second time. Rather than getting hostile toward Jeronimo he should be warning him.

Mirna is an idiot. Armando is up to no good because of Silvano but Sergio could end up being much worse.

Finally, Cinthia is up to no good. Her hesitance about the DNA test and her refusal to answer questions are red flags. I don't know what kind of monitors everyone's watching on but that two-toned hair of hers not only looks declassee, it's dirty.

I was shocked at Humberto's lack of outrage at what Macario did and at Macario's gambling addiction. It just might take the discovery of adultery that would ignite the kerosene at this stage. Does anyone know how many episodes this will be?

Totally agree that Isabella should not have been selling her toys to pay for the broken telescope. Fausto was solely responsible for that and should have paid. And per TN Law Fausto is told that Isabella is Memo's bio-kid just before Memo was about to tell Daniela. I thought Fausto found that out long ago.

Ursula's fake pregnancy could be foiled by Cesar; I am still hoping for that.

I don’t know if Ester is seeing what she wants to see in little Denis, or if this boy really looks like Iván. Diana, for all the reasons you give, I hope Ester gets her desire and the DNA test says Denis is her grandson.

Cinthia is unlikable and was rude to Jero from the start. Ivan’s head must’ve been heavily clouded by alcohol and teen hormones because Cinthia is no prize. But the boy seems well taken care of, I'll give her that. Urban, ITA "that two-toned hair of hers not only looks declassee, it's dirty." It looks like the actress had to damage her hair for this role.

Liz, it would be great if Homero and Rayo bonded. It sounds like she was touched by his sad eyes, so I'm hopeful.

I'm okay with Jero being super protective and metiche in this case. Ester is strong, but she will take quite a fall if Cinthia is full of B.S. Did Cinthia even bother extending sympathy to Ester on her loss or ask to see a photo album of Ivan so she could get to know more about the father of her son?

After all the paternity drama, I was shocked to see Misael unconscious in the hospital. They delivered us a double whammy last night.

Superb storytelling, Diana. Whoa, your title and quotation nailed this epi. Loved your describing Ursula’s passing out spell as “flop faints.” Craziest fake fainting I’ve seen in a TN. Ursa also got on my nerves practically hugging Humberto to death. Your retelling of Dani and Memo's tender moments together reads like a romance novel. I'm glad for all the luscious details, given we knew their togetherness was fleeting.

I have so many favorites from your recap, but here are two tops:

I have to admit I enjoyed Ursula vs. Karen; Ursula definitely won the round, if not the war. It was rather satisfying seeing Karen's eyes, wide as saucers, indignant that she would be spoken to that way. I hope there's a round two. :)

I hope he puts the brakes on himself before somebody else like Ester does it for him.

Urban, ITA that “Mirna is an idiot” and that Cinthia, who has been a nasty piece of work from the start, is up to no good. I wonder if Cinthia wants to move in permanently with Ester and let her work and support her and Denis while she does nothing.

Niecie, good point about Cinthia not really extending any sympathy or basic human kindness to Ester. She has made it all about herself and has not let anyone forget it. Yes, it was a “double whammy” kind of night. ; )

VENCER LA AUSENCIA #42 Part 1

Notes from the couch . . . "just the facts" edition


JULIA was so close to getting what she wanted with Angel and suddenly now that seems so far away . . .

Julia finds out that Rodolfo found Misael in the back of his car after he bought some gas. Misael had seen him at the station before but stayed away from the house. He didn't want to put the family in danger. Misael told him he managed to escape from where he was being held. He didn't remember anything else. He was in bad shape and passed out.Rodolfo took him to the hospital. Rodolfo is worried that Misael could endanger them all. Rodolfo tells her that they have to protect Misael and find out what happened before she makes any decisions. Julia does not seem pleased especially since things were going smoothly with Angel and now there is Danny to consider with Misael's reappearance. Julia doesn't answer any attempt by Angel to contact her.

The doctor tells them that Misael was not run over but rather assaulted. He has a severe contusion on his cell and is suffering from various areas of his body being inflamed from the blows he took. The doctor cannot tell them how quickly or if he will totally recover. If he doesn't start to improve quickly, they will have to take other measures.

Rodolfo tells Julia that he told the hospital that Misael was his son when he brought them in so they have to act like he is so the police do not get involved. He wonders if Angel could even be involved. Julia says he is an honest man. Rodolfo reminds her that is what they thought about Misael. He wants to circle the wagons. It is a family matter and by that he means limited to Julia, Danny, Chepina, Gina and him; nobody else especially no Angels, seraphims or cherubs!

Misael tells Julia that all he could think about was getting back to her and Danny. Julia tells him that is hard to believe since she discovered his secret love nest and how he had cheated on her. Misael assures her that he paid for that and much more than she can imagine during the time he was kidnapped and held prisoner. He lived through that hell only o be able to support his family.

Misael explains to Julia what happened. While on the road, the food truck was boxed in by other vehicles. He never suspected that they were after the money he was carrying for the Funes. Then one of the men told him that he knew he was carrying a good amount of cash. He was afraid but Margarita and Iván were more so, so in order to save their investment, he tried to run through the vehicles but ended up just crashing instead. The next thing he knew, he was being kidnapped. Furthermore, Misael says he never contacted her. He has no idea who "sin filtros" is and he didn't send her the money that she had guessed was a part of the Funes cash he was carrying.


ESTER is a sitting duck but her grief prevents her from seeing it.

Cynthia tells Julia that Jero has been annoying her. She threatens to leave. Ester standup for her. He says that never was his intention and apologizes. Ester thinks maybe she should move out with Cinthia and the boy. Jero says that is not necessary but doesn't want her jumping to any conclusions before the DNA test. The hairs are collected for the DNA test and Ester will drop them off at Biogenelab. Later, Jero tells Cinthia that they got off on the wrong foot and suggests they have a fresh start . She agrees. Later, he overhears her talking on the phone to somebody about what a pain he is and how Ester is "dazed" by her grandson. She is "drooling" over him. She is sure Ester will "cough up" the money. He finds that suspicious and tries to warn Ester who seems to think that he is overstepping his bounds since they ARE NOT a couple. She does not need him to protect or take care of her. She sees nothing wrong in what Cinthia said. (uh, she didn't hear the TONE of the conversation)
 

VENCER Part 2

CELESTE has to eat crow as Braulio enjoys the event much more than he should.

The DNA results show that Brauliio is NOT Rayo's father. Celeste calls Braulio to let him know and apologizes over and over again which he clearly enjoys. She invites him to meet with her for a special event. It turns to to be an ultrasound where they both can see how wonderfully everything is going with Celeste's pregnancy and their baby's development. They are both happy.


ANGEL has so much on his plate he is prime pickings for Braulio.

Braulio tells Angel he is already working on a possible partnership but cannot give him the details or even the name of the partner yet. Angel is concerned about Julia since he has been trying to contact her and she hasn't answered him. Braulio doesn't miss the chance to demean Julia and her family. They are nice people but you can't count on them. They are from a different world. Then there is the problem with Misael. Angel knows all about that but he is in love with Julia.


RAYO gets harangued by her "friends" and pushed further down the road to perdition. Oh, no!

Rayo is pressured and guilted by Mati and her friend to raise money for their friend who is in jail. They convince her she has to steal something they can sell from the house where she is staying. Earlier that day, Homero shows Armando the wedding ring set he still has from his late wife. Rayo manages to sneak back into the house after meeting with Mati and company. She goes skulking around Homero's room and finds the rings. Homero goes looking for the wedding rings later in the day and they are not where they are supposed to be. Mirna accuses Armando of having stolen them. Angel tells her to stop accusing Armando. Armando says that Homero told him that he keeps many things of his late wife in her room downstairs. Maybe he put the rings back there in one of his episodes. Angel decides they will go down and look for the ring.


GINA goes for it!

Gina gets on Ana Sofí's pictogram account and delivers a tirade against her informing everyone what she did to her (Gina with a "ge") and her sister. She gets all sort of likes which just fuels her presentation even more. Later, Erik tries to tell her to let karma do its thing and let her situation with Ana Sofí go. He tells her what happened to his sister Renata online. (plot of "Vencer el pasado")She tells him it is too late for that. She already posted her video. Mirna sees Gina's video before Ana Sofí and lets her know. Ana Sofí says she will pay Gina a visit. She shows up at Gina's door.

Camino #29 Hidden Truths and Harsh Revealations Part 1

The truth always arrives too late because it walks slower than lies. Truth crawls at a snail’s pace – Maryse Conde

“MEMO is the biological father of Isabela” Fausto tells Daniela through clenched teeth, eyebrows arched, anger palpable. Daniela physically shrinks back, uncomprehendingly.

Memo’s reaction to Ursula’s news is not what she expected. His face is far from joyous and in fact is rather expressionless and inscrutable. He thought she was taking care of herself. He hands her the paper back, nervously scratches and avoids eye contact, mumbling that this is not the right time. Ursula asks Memo if he thinks the baby is a mistake as his eyes reflect his internal pain. She asks when he stopped loving her!

Fausto continues his verbal attack of Memo, that miserable…Daniela can’t believe what Fausto is saying. He retorts that he never trusted Memo and feared he would try to take Isabela from them. At first, Daniela defends Memo which only serves to make Fausto angrier. Daniela asks who told him; she feels this must be a mistake. Fausto was always suspicious of Memo’s intentions. At first, he thought Memo was interested in Daniela. He asks if Memo tried to seduce her and when she is silent, he demands she answer him as her eyes fill with tears. She sits on the stairs, tears streaming down her face as she closes her eyes, wincing in emotional agony. Fausto tells her that if he tried to seduce her it was only to make a fool of her. Memo has done nothing but lie to her and use her to be close to Isabela.

A river of tears is being shed tonight. Elsewhere, Ursula is feigning being wounded, chiding Memo that she thought the news of their first child together would make him shout with joy! She expected to be enveloped in a hug, and to see happiness rather than sadness reflected in his face. Memo moves closer to her on the couch and promises her she won’t be alone. Ursula, trying to pretend to have a bit of pride, asserts she doesn’t want him with her out of obligation (which of course is an out and out lie). Memo assures her he will take responsibility. As Memo sheds tears himself, he offers that they have affection for each other and will raise their child together. They will marry just as they had planned.

Daniela asks Fausto to leave her alone as she climbs the stairs. We see him grinning ear to ear. Rat bas**rd. As she enters the bedroom, her knees weaken, and she leans against the counter for support. Prostrate, she lies on the bed and cries as though her heart was broken, which is certainly the case. She isn’t afforded privacy as Fausto soon slithers in, telling Dani that is why he has been in such a bad mood, why he broke the telescope and that is why, when Isa said she wanted Memo as her father, he reacted badly. He knows he was wrong in leaving, but he needed to get his thoughts together (oh, is that what he was doing with Karen I add disgustedly). When Dani questions why he asked Memo to come back, Fausto replies that he was trying to avoid Memo seeking a lawyer. His Pinocchio nose grows further as he says he found out when he went to the restaurant, overhearing Memo and Amparo saying that Isa is Memo’s daughter. He rubs the fact that when Amparo came to their house, she knew Isa is Memo’s daughter and was probably laughing in Dani’s face! Viewerville recalls Ursula reclining languidly on Fausto’s office chair spilling the tea. We wonder why he brought Amparo up as Ursula told him only Leo knew (thanks Niecie).

Eugenio, still in his handsome attire, walks into the restaurant and sees a sad Amparo sitting alone. She greets him cordially as he asks if she has selected a picture for the book. She is having difficulty choosing. He suggests she ask her husband to help but she admits Macario is not there. Eugenio is happy to help. He compliments her saying she is talented, but she demurs. She gets up as he smiles after her. He gently glides his finger down one of her pictures and leaves no doubt in our minds that he is smitten.

Meanwhile, Macario covertly watches a card game in process and finally slithers over and takes a seat; there has been MUCH slithering tonight, hasn’t there 😊

Chuchita is overseeing the children playing in the park when Leo (hat on head and guitar in hand) calls. The restaurant has reopened, and he will be singing and invites her to come and listen.

The liquor is depleting as is Macario’s luck. He goes all in and thinks he has won, but he is trumped. He realizes quickly how much (more) trouble he is in and staggers out. He says that if he has bad luck in love, he should have good luck in gambling. Turns out he has no luck in either!

Gaby tells Sebastian how things are going at home. He suggests it is a good time for her and Lupita to go out, have a good time and forget their troubles, at least for the moment. Gaby agrees and will call JuanPa.

Camino #29 Hidden Truths and Harsh Revelations Part 3

Humberto is happy Ursula and Memo have settled their differences. He congratulates them on their impending wedding and is thrilled he will have a nieto. He will now take good care of himself so he can spend a lot of time with his new grandchild. Ursula is enjoying every second of her soon to be father in law’s support.

Amparo has chosen a picture and Eugenio says they now have enough to start the book. Amparo is thanking Eugenio and as he gets up to leave, Macario comes in, walking menacingly up to Eugenio telling him to get his dirty hands off his woman! He is drunk and disorderly and Amparo is upset and embarrassed. Macario looks like he is ready to break into tears accusing Amparo of having planned everything to be with Eugenio. That is why he ran him off! It takes Leo and Memo to physically remove him from the restaurant. Ursula has watched all of this looking like a wide mouthed bass.

JuanPa comes home and Isa runs to him. Chuchita asks JuanPa for a ride to the restaurant. When she asks Fausto if she can have time off, Isa wants to go but Fausto tells he that they have other plans. Daniela tells Fausto they need to wait until tomorrow when things are clearer to make any decisions. Fausto tells her they are going out. Daniela does not feel up to it, but Fausto insists as he has already told Isabela and she is looking forward to it. Este bien she allows and asks him to give her a few minutes. More cringeworthy smiles from Fausto behind Dani’s back.

Leo and Memo prop up a drunken, crying Macario and bring him into Amparo’s. Macario is having a temper tantrum, babbling like a baby as almost all of what he says is indistinguishable. They chide him for his reprehensible behavior as Macario slobbers that neither of them likes him. Leo reminds him they have always helped him, and Memo tells him that they can talk more once he sobers up. Macario knows he has made (another) mess of things but yells “Amparo, I love you” and asks Memo to tell her just that. Leo has harsh words and reminds him he must respect her. Leo thinks they should have thrown Macario into the street, but Memo reminds him he is the father of their nieces and nephew. Leo and Memo manage to move him into bed. Memo puts part of the coverlet on him, but Leo rips it off him before he leaves!

It's showtime!! Leo is sporting an (Elvis) white costume, red shirt, white hat and green shirt with puffy sleeves. Chema stands on a chair and shouts his approval. Leo dedicates his song to Chuchita, the woman he loves who blows him a kiss. Sebastian asks Lupita to dance; she is reluctant but gets up followed by JuanPa and Gaby. Ursula, still in her black and red work/party shirt, manages to get a very unhappy looking Memo on the dance floor as Amparo sits head in hand.

Nothing eases heartache like a good game of bowling! Isa is having fun as she bowls, plays a variation of electric foosball and other games. Fausto is pretending to be a good guy and Dani is trying to keep her spirits up. Fausto asks if Isabela is happy with them. Yes, Isa enthuses, she loves them mucho! Fausto slyly adds that they will always be together, right Daniela?

Camino #29 Hidden Truths and Harsh Revelations Part 4

An exhausted Amparo puts Chema to bed. Memo tells Amparo that they left Macario asleep in her bedroom so Amparo can sleep with Chema. Ursula and Memo are there, Ursula rubbing her empty flat stomach. She asks if they are going to share their news with everyone. Memo wants to wait. When Ursula asks if Isa will be happy to have a little brother, Memo reminds her that Isa doesn’t even know she is his daughter! Memo then advises her he is going to tell Dani the truth. Ursula thinks it’s best and hopes that all turns out well. Yeah sure. Sell that somewhere else sister.

After the show, Leo asks Chuchita for a hug or a kiss. She reminds him she is not going to be easy but does give him a small kiss. JuanPa and Gaby/Sebas and Lupita come in and rib them good naturedly The girls get a kick out their uncle.

Isabela is happy to go back to school, Fausto tells Daniela. Suddenly, Memo comes in unannounced. Fausto wants to talk to Memo, but Dani wants to be the one to talk to him. Memo asks to speak with Dani. Alone. Fausto says no and insists on staying. Dani backs him up, agreeing HER HUSBAND should be present. Memo agrees that it is something they both need to hear. Daniela stands up and on the offense grits out “what are you going to tell us? That you are Isabela’s father! That you have been making stupid fools of us?!”

Memo asks how they found out. Fausto replies that he overheard him and Amparo talking but Dani doesn’t think that matters. Daniela walks up to Memo and is thisclose as she asks if he is Isabela’s father? Yes or no!! Yes, he says as she slaps him. Hard. He shows her the DNA test.

Amparo throws cold water on a hungover Macario. She calls him ridiculous. I’m sorry he manages. No Macario she states assertively, what he did yesterday was the drop that made the glass overflow (the straw that broke the camel’s back). She tells him to take a bath, get dressed and get out of their house and out of her life. She turns on her heel and leaves.

Dani asks Memo what else is he hiding. He says nothing. Dani asks when he had the paternity test done and Memo answers that it was a few weeks ago; he used some of Isa’s hair. Fausto crumples up the test results and throws it at him. Dani asks how he knew Isabela was with them. Memo responds that Olivia sent him a letter before she died explaining that Isabela is his. It was she who gave him their address. Olivia asked him to look for Isa as she was riddled with regret. A righteously angry Daniela then yells that that is not true as Isa’s mother died during childbirth. That is what Fausto told her!

Camino #29 Hidden Truths and Harsh Revelations Part 5 (Last)

Macario makes a show of carrying his cardboard luggage through the restaurant, head down in shame. Amparo goes over to him. He takes one more shot, feigning contrition, but Amparo holds firm. When he asks what will happen with Chema, Amparo replies she will talk with him and explain. He tries to take her hands, but she backs away and he finally leaves. She looks after him tinged with sadness…

Fausto feigns surprise…he reminds Dani she also heard the nurse tell them that Isa’s mother died right after childbirth. Memo doesn’t know why Olivia gave up Isa for adoption…maybe because she had cancer, but he doesn’t know why she didn’t tell him so he could take care of Isa. Fausto thinks that Olivia must have not trusted him. Memo assures them that he is a good man, but Dani retorts that he is a man who came in lying, who had everything planned, and who came only to be close to Isa. Dani thinks that when Isa found out that she was adopted, Memo saw it as the perfect opportunity. Memo denies he had any bad intentions.

In our first glimpse of what is likely Macario’s next place to hang his hat, a young woman, Chela/Grace is being told by her mother to clean the house. Then she needs to leave!! It seems Macario’s mistress is going to the beauty salon to get pretty for him!

Dani demands that Memo state what he wants! What are his intentions?? Memo assures them he came to tell them the truth. Dani retorts that he should have told them the day he arrived. Memo pleads it was not easy to learn he was a father or for the right moment to tell her (as we sigh collectively). Dani passionately retorts, what about her? Finding out from someone else, especially after what happened! Stopping in her tracks (so to speak), Dani realizes what she has said…

But it is too late. Her words hang in the air and are heard. Fausto stares and asks what happened…what is she talking about?

Rgv Chick, you came to my rescue once again by translating tonight’s dialog in wonderous fashion. Your ability to capture everything and do it so perfectly is inspiring. I cannot thank you enough!

The head kerchief that Macario wore tonight (bearing “Some Gave All”) has long caught my attention. I could not find an exact match online, but it appears to be similar to a POW/MIA skullcap/Doo Rag. I wonder if there is a story behind this…

I can’t wait to read everyone’s insights and comments. This is such a wonderful group! I can’t help but wonder where Dani and Memo go from here…

Wow, Diana you got two emotionally laden episodes in a row and you wove beauty into the sadness! We did have a few lighter moments last night but they were few and far between.

I don’t understand the makeup department on this show! Unless these new garish bright clashing colors are truly a thing, in which case WOW! and Boo! First Gaby, then Ursa and now we have Grace with her bright bright bright green eyeshadow!!! Ick

I hate the fact that the fake pregnancy works and Ursa does all the damage for Memo and Dani walking out of the fire with exactly what she wants!! It bugs me so much but I knew it was going to happen, the fake pregnancy always works!

Chema was a bright spot teasing Leo about unplugging his mic! Lol

As far as where Dani and Memo will go, I foresee several more heart wrenching yelling/crying scenes in our future unfortunately! I am worried about how this news is going to effect Isa!

Jarifa, thank you for an excellent retelling of another rather somber episode.

“It is a family matter and by that he means limited to Julia, Danny, Chepina, Gina and him; nobody else especially no Angels, seraphims or cherubs!” was a sweet and welcome line. That said, I was surprised Julia is cutting communication with Angel off completely. Misael is not going away (unless he dies of course) and she can’t continue to avoid Angel.

Misael is the worse for wear. He truly has been through it.

So Braulio isn’t Rayo’s father. The field continues to narrow.

“RAYO gets harangued by her "friends" and pushed further down the road to perdition. Oh, no!” Exactly Jarifa! I was so disappointed she took the rings. I am hoping she and Homero will have a positive interaction and that while she IS there, that she is able to support him.

Cinthia isn’t a vision of sweetness and light. But I’m all for Ester being united with her grandson. Grief can eat away at you and erase any intuition and suspicion and to be fair, Cinthia has talked the talk but hasn’t walked the walk. Yet.

“Braulio tells Angel he is already working on a possible partnership but cannot give him the details or even the name of the partner yet”. Huh? Who died and left him boss?

I could care less that Ana Sofia is peeved. Next! 😊

Again, you've cut right to the crux of the matter Darcy. I expect Memo to be fired again just when he was rehired which will surely crush Isa! That said, Memo and Fausto can certainly not co-exist as things stand now. The larger question is how and if Dani and Memo are going to be able to salvage any type of relationship. What a mess.

We can only hope that Ursu's ex somehow stops the wedding (are they even legally divorced?). That said, the rest of Memo's troubles are his responsibility as he hid the truth too tightly and too long.

Thanks, Jarifa, great recap. I wasn’t sure what Cinthia was saying on the phone, hate that she has an ulterior motive, but not surprised. Not sure why she has been so hard on Jero. They are presenting themselves as a couple so she should realize they are a team who will decide things together. Even though they aren’t. I wonder if she was talking to the boyfriend!

I hate that Rayo stole from Homero, and the one thing he really loves! I hope they’re still in the house and he can get them back! And glad Homero defended Armando. I know he’s one of the bad guys but he seems very caring of Homero.

Misael has really complicated things. I’m glad he’s not a thief but this makes it worse for Julia. And Julia and Angel are so great together.

Ana Sofia and Gina can battle it out for best influencer, I don’t care for either of them!

Braulio is like an old busybody gossip. I would say old woman, but that would be ageist and sexist! But he likes putting down his neighbors, all his wife’s friends. At least he did look happy when he saw the ultrasound!

It appears that Cynthia ,like Mati, is a youthful wheeler dealer . She lastima. Ester is always dealing with difficult folks...Max, her mother, Flavia, and now Cinthia who wants money.

Poor Rayo is lost and struggling to find her place in this world as she drifts uncared for from one place to another.

Thanks, Diana, you tell a great story. Right now I see an easier path for Amparo and Eugenio than for Dani and Memo.

I can’t figure out if Macario really loves Amparo or is just using her as his bank. He’s had the mistress since day one, but wonder how living with her will be. I’m assuming that’s his plan!

Fausto is really enjoying breaking Dani’s heart. I hate how he smiles behind her back. Ursula does that too. Must be a trademark of evil people. Both of them are hurting the one they supposedly love. We know Fausto doesn’t love Dani but I wonder about Ursula. Does she she Memo as a step up from Cesar? She and Cesar certainly have the chemistry!

Leo’s outfit was a bright spot in all this sadness! It made me laugh! He and his nieces are having better luck in the romance department!

I hope, for Dani’s sake, that the bad guys start losing!

Diana, I am so over Ana Sofí but, I guess we need some semi-comic relief from the drama. Even when he is deadly serious, Rodolfo continues to be verbally charming in his speech anyway. So, what does Julia do with Misael now? I was sorry to see him turn up alive.

Liz, yes, it wasn’t what Cinthia said as much as the nasty way she put it. I wonder, too, if the boyfriend has been around the whole time. As for Braulio, how unattractive as a human being can you get? I worry that Celeste now is going to feel eternally guilty and agree to everything he wants.

Susanlynn, thanks for sticking with this and us. ITA that Ester has not had it easy. As for Rayo, all of the friends know what it would take to be a mother or family to Rayo, but none of them has stepped up. They just “worry” about her a lot.

Perhaps he did, early on and perhaps a part of him might still. But his gambling addiction has overpowered him and its stranglehold has caused him to continually betray Amparo despite how much his actions devastate her.

I think you nailed it in that Memo is indeed a step up from Cesar. He is kinder, more refined and actually has a job. But Ursula has far more in common with Cesar including the fact they are both common (sorry, couldn't resist). :)

Mark Tacher and Sara Corrales sure do make great villains don't they? and they have those facial expressions down pat! Great acting, but I love to hate them!

She was supposed to give him money that he demanded in exchange for the divorce and she still hasn't given him the full amount. I am really hoping he crashes the wedding!

Liz, I honestly don't think Ursula loves Memo. She may have wanted a better and more honest man than Cesar. And I think that Mac may have had something to do with wanting to get her into the family (who had some dinero). I'm hoping we find out more about her real motives, but right now, it seems to be more of an obsession and matter of pride--no one takes her man!

I'm not with Rodolfo though on not contacting the police. Who knows if Misael is telling the whole truth? And honestly Misael and Angel need to compare notes so they can realize they have the same enemy, Santino.

Misael has suffered for sure, but that doesn't change the fact that his regular cheating has ruined Julia's love for him. He may be scared straight now, but it's too late.

If it's money Cinthia wants, after all she never got child support from Ivan (as if he had a dime!), Ester would get it for her if the girl simply asked. But Cinthia isn't being upfront. I do believe that was her boyfriend on the phone.

I have no idea what will happen next. Will Dani let Memo keep working there for Isa's sake? Will Memo finally get a lawyer to ensure he has some sort of father rights? Will Eugenio seize the opportunity to visit Amparo more? Actually, I'm sure that last one will happen.

The fabric and the green and red colors really stood out to me, and NOT in a good way! I think Chuchita's designs have a dramatic and very colorful flair and will leave it at that. :)

You asked important questions. I think Isa is going to be inconsolable if Memo is fired and/or barred from seeing her. I think Memo would only go to a lawyer if nothing can be worked out and he can't see Isa. We've now seen Eugenio is definitely interested in Amparo although her feelings for him are still in the "friend zone". I think it all depends on how low Macario goes but better stated, how much Amparo finds out! I'm sure even Viewerville has yet to see and know everything.

If Rodolfo is afraid of who is after Misael coming after the family, then going to the police would be the right way to go. As for always worrying about Danny and his reaction, I think that Julia needs to be the adult and make the mature decision and divorce Misael as planned ASAP whatever his excuse, whatever his reason, whatever his medical condition.

You all have covered everything so well. Thanks, All, for the recaps, analysis, comments, and patio catnip!

I only have a few random points as our seat belts are fastened tightly for this roller coaster’s impending dips and dives.

Here we go, loop de loop.

Earlier this week I had to check my TV’s warranty as Macario’s hair inexplicably went from black to light golden chestnut brown to almost ginger red then back to black all within two episodes. I wish I could post screencaps. His headgear is not a knockoff but an actual Wounded Warriors wrap(?). Is there a back story here? So.Random.

Sebaspatán’s hair also took a ride on the tint-o-meter without explanation. Darcy already mentioned the Fun-with-Eyeshadow moments. Maybe they let interns do hair and makeup this week.

Back to Macario, did anyone catch the Route 66 sign at the poker game? Neither La Cocina de Martina nor any of these characters should be anywhere near this highway! Perhaps it was just a recuerdo brought in by one of these gambling traileros.

I laughed out loud when Leo (hat ON) ripped the cover off the undeserving Macario. This was almost as funny as his Big Bird (©️Niecie) wardrobe.

Fausto’s rapid-fire lying was quite impressive. That he feared Memo would take Isa away. That this was the source of his bad mood(s) and property damage. That he didn’t come home as he was sorting through his feelings. That he learned the truth when he overheard Memo & Amparo talking.

I have been looking forward to the reveal of Macario’s mistress (fka Flor or Marciuca) ever since I spotted her in the opening credits when this ride began. What in the world can she see in Macario? The technicolor hair tricks? That magic blue die he’s always twirling. His collection of fine luggage?

Only time will tell! Cannot wait.
 

Actually, she said "sus hermanos" - plural - which would be both Leo and Amparo.
