VENCER LA AUSENCIA Page 1

Notes from the couch . . . just the facts edition

What happened tonight:

1. JULIA SHOWS "I CAN DO WHAT I WANT" MISAEL THE DOOR

Misael physically accosts Julia again but this time it is to see if she has been communicating with Angel on her cellphone. She refuses to give it up and Gina gets in between them. She pushes Misael away and and calls him a little macho who likes to fight with women. She dares him to do something to her. He leaves in a huff. Julia tells her sister she has never seen Misael in such a state. Julia tells Angel they need to cut off their communication for a while until everything plays out. She says she is doing it for Danny. We also find out that Rodolfo is trying to help Misael for the sake of Danny. Misael next appears at Danny's school enraged that he cannot take Danny with him. It turns out that Danny can only be released to Julia or Rodolfo. Julia tries to explain that to Misael but he acts like a jerk. After that incident, he tries to apologize repeatedly to Julia and promises her that things will be different. Finally, she tells him he has one month, as in 30 days, to find another place to stay and move out of her father's house.

2. BRAULIO IS GETTING HIS DUCKS IN A ROW TO TAKE CONTROL OF FUNES TRANSPORT

Braulio talks to Misael about his lawyer being Braulio's straw man again. Misael says his lawyer is ready to do it if the pay is right. It must be right because Braulio tries to convince Angel to have a video call with the possible (inevitable?) "new partner". Angel isn't sure he wants to do that. Braulio reminds him that they really have no choice but to take the man on as a partner because of the financial situation of the company. He assures Angel that this video call is just so they can meet. There will be an in person meeting shortly, too.

3. THE MYSTERY IS SOLVED WITH A TRANSGENDER THEME

After Gina sees another woman come out of Ariel and Erik's apartment and we hear Flavia wondering what is going on as she gossips with a neighbor about the coming and going of women from the apartment, Gina finally knocks on the door. A woman answers and recognizes Gina. She explains that she is no longer Ariel but Catalina. Gina smiles. It seems that Gina and Erik's relationship has suffered by him keeping Ariel's secret to the point where I do not know if they are even talking anymore.

4. RAYO GETS TO GO HOME

Rayo gets out of the detention center due to the fact that Mirna withdrew the charges. The lawyer also took care of changing her name to Funes. Her mom's friends and Angel are there to greet her. Rayo comes home elated to have a bedroom of her very own and a family. Her father is overjoyed to welcome her until he fades away into one of his episodes. Mirna arrives and is incensed that Rayo is there. She thought she made it clear she didn't want that BASTARD living at their house.

5. ESTER IS ABOUT TO GET A BIG SURPRISE

Max gives Ester all of the forms she will need to start filing for custody of Denis. It is helpful that Cinthia has not reappeared. Ester (has truly gone around the bend) is also planning on changing Denis' name to Iván. Max doesn't get it. What Ester doesn't know is that Cinthia told Jero that she is about to get released from the rehab center and more than anything she wants to be reunited with her son and never be separated from him again.

6. ESTER IS STILL FRUSTRATING EVERYONE

It turns out that Ester never allowed Jero to kiss her. She only wants to be besties like they were before. He agrees.

Celeste tells Ester she has chosen her husband and marriage over any information that Ester has/is trying to find out about Braulio. She doesn't want to hear anymore from her about him.

7. LENAR DECIDES TO SETTLE FOR SECURITY IF SHE CAN

After being turned down by Jero, Lenar decides to ask Donato to move back in. He asks her if that is what she really wants. She smiles and says yes. She asks him if he wants to come back. We never hear the answer. Jero tells his sons that he thinks their mother is going to go back with Donato because of the mortgage on the house.

8. ANA SOFÍ IS LIKE THE ENERGIZER RABBIT

Ana Sofí never gives up. She visits Angel to tell him she wants them to be best friends. Immediately, she starts to fish for info about Julia. Angel refuses to discuss Julia with Ana Sofí

9. FLAVIA IS A HABITUAL GOSSIP

In spite of Celeste telling he that she is starting to be friends again with Julia and Ester and does not want to hear any gossip about them, Flavia cannot help herself. She tears them apart and ends up admitting to being interested in Jero.

10. MIRNA GETS THE PHONE CALL SHE WANTS

Mirna gets the long-awaited call from Sergio. Again, he talks about something terrible having happened. He will call her later that night from his other phone.

VENCER

Jarifa, an interesting episode that you covered to perfection with your always keen observation and observant, discerning eye.

Women behaving badly, I wanted to shake them and tell them to “snap out of it”.

Rayo’s release from prison finally brought her the support and happiness that has been so elusive. The women were happy and shared her joy, but had they taken more and better care of her, the road she traversed would have been much easier. From living on the street to a real home with her blood family, her life has transformed. But her ascent has not changed the sweet girl that she is, thrilled to have a room of her own! Homero was so happy to see her but his relapse was sobering and a jolt back to reality. And Mirna? Horrid.

Celeste has all of the facts about Braulio staring her in the face. And yet she won’t challenge him and wants to hear nothing further from the friends who care about her. Celeste is deaf.

When Misael was physically manhandling her, why did Julia not fight like a wildcat? Her reaction was to stare levelly and look a bit perturbed. What would have happened had Gina (the little spitfire) not arrived in the nick of time? She had no fear and clawed without fear. Julia is dumb.

“What Ester doesn't know is that Cinthia told Jero that she is about to get released from the rehab center and more than anything she wants to be reunited with her son and never be separated from him again”. First, did Jero ignore the alarm bells that surely must have been ringing in his head?? What is he thinking? Oh, never mind. He’s not! And is it my imagination or does Cinthia have a little crush on Jero??

So Ester only wants to be friends with Jero. Perhaps it’s best. Jero can do better. Ester changing Denis’ name to Ivan is sort of insane. Ester is blind.

I liked Ana Sofia’s triangle lens shaped sunglasses.

What does Sergio have up his sleeve? It’s driving me crazy.

Camino – Capitulo 46 – Part 1 of 4

The Paramedics check out memo and tell him the bullet didn’t do much damage but he needs to go to the hospital to get checked out. The police confirm that Memo knew Cesar but he has no idea why Cesar would do this, perhaps to steal the merchandise? Someone brings Memo his phone and Dani is still calling and Memo tells her that he’s okay but she hears the paramedic in the background talking about the hospital so he admits he got shot in the shoulder and has to go get checked out. His battery is dying and he has the embarrassment of asking Dani to call Ursa and tell her.

Aaron goes into Falso’s office with his head hanging saying he’s going to prepare the paper work to sell/transfer? to Falso his shares of the company. Falso says perfect, he’ll have his lawyer look it over. Aaron thanks him for allowing him to keep 2%, he knows how important it is for him to own stock in the company. Falso repeats his surely empty promise that when he gets his inheritance they will own much more. Falso also tells his new partner he has just the job for him! He’s going to be in charge of getting the Santos to sell their land! Aaron is a little aghast saying they don’t want to sell but Falso thinks Aaron can find a way to convince them! Aaron agrees, he understands why this is important to Falso, he can’t just let them live free after that trucker dared to touch his family.

Memo had asked Dani not to tell Isa because he didn’t want her to worry, but Isa overhears Dani talking to Chuchita about it. She doesn’t hear that Memo was shot, she only knows he’s sick and she wants to go to the hospital but Dani tells her kids aren’t allowed. Isa then gets a great idea and runs off to do whatever it is she is planning.

Dani calls Ursa and Ursa is only semi-hostile as Dani tries to tell her what happened. She gets out that Memo is hurt and headed to the hospital and asks Ursa to tell the family. Ursa wants to know which hospital, but I don’t think Memo told Dani that detail.

Falso tells Aaron he is waiting for the good news that Memo is dead any minute. Aaron guesses he found someone else to do his dirty work. Falso tells Aaron to take care of the problem with the land sale and Aaron tells Falso to solve his issues with Dani! (LOL)

Grace comes to her job interview and Amparo tells her all about the coming primer of her book and Grace pretends to be so excited for her! Grace shows her ID and asks for the job! Amparo wants to hire her but she isn’t sure she can afford it. Grace says just give me a probation period while you figure it out. She swears she’s a hard worker and she really needs the job. She gives Amparo the sob story about how she and her mom are alone in the world because her father is a bastard who just played with her mom and abandoned them. Amparo is moved and hires Grace.

Chuchita asks if Dani feels better but she doesn’t. Chuchita thinks Dani should go visit Memo but Dani says it’s not proper. Chuchita doesn’t understand why not, they are friends first, right? Little Isa is sneaking up on conversations again and is dismayed to hear Dani isn’t going to the hospital because she wants her to take him the drawing, she made for him!

Ursa arrives at the hospital and she sees Memo is okay. Memo asks for his family but Ursa just ran out and didn’t tell anyone. Ursa is beside herself and wants to know who did this. Memo looks at her closely and tells her to promise to take the news calmly for the sake of their baby. He tells her the person who did this to him died and Ursa’s immediate reaction is GOOD! But Memo clarifies it was Cesar, and he’s dead. Ursa is shocked to say the least.

 

Camino – Capitulo 46 – Part 2 of 4

Mac tries to approach Humberto in the restaurant but he isn’t interested in talking with him. Mac makes the same old promises and Humberto doesn’t believe a word. Mac has a plan and he’s going to start this very night to win back Amparo’s love. The two men start to play a game and Grace cheerfully approaches the table wishing them a good afternoon and asking if they want something to drink.

Memo says he tried to help him but he couldn’t. Cesar died in front of him. Ursa turns her back and says ‘it’s over’, Memo asks what? And Ursa clarifies his life is over. She can’t understand why he would do this? He shot Memo! Tried to kill the love of her life, why would he do that? Cesar has always had his problems and Ursa figured he’d end up dead or in jail but she never suspected he’d act against his own family. Ursa turns the subject back to Memo and swears if he died, she would have died with him! And as she’s whispering all about how much she loves him Dani arrives with Isa’s drawing. She must be uncomfortable; hearing Memo too, say how lucky he is to have Ursa. She turns to leave but Memo spots her.

Humberto greets Grace with open friendliness saying he never saw her there before. Grace says Amparo hired her today and she’s such a nice lady. Humberto says he knows because she’s his daughter and they are a good family. Grace looks at Mac and says that’s exactly what she’s missed all her life, a family. She takes their drink orders and leaves, running into Aaron as she goes. Aaron says he’s heard this is the best restaurant around and Grace says she’s sure there are better (LOL) but welcome! Have a seat! Aaron thanks her.

Dani comes in and Ursa isn’t happy to see her of course but she actually stays quiet this time. Dani says she only came to see how Memo was and give Memo a drawing that Isa made for her. Memo is very touched by the drawing and Dani tells him Isa wanted to come herself but she had to tell her that children are not allowed in the hospital. Memo says of course, we have to take care of Isa first. Dani agrees. Ursa has apparently reached the end of her silence quota and she grabs the drawing out of Memo’s hand and rolls it up. Thank you very much for coming, she bites at Dani, but my husband needs to rest! The look of utter shock on Dani’s face says it all. Memo tries to calm Ursa but she isn’t having it and orders Dani again to leave.

Aaron passes the table of Mac and Humberto and feigns an interest in Dominos, he asks to join and Humberto invites him willingly. Grace comes with the guy’s drinks and Mac says his beer is warm but Grace claims it was the coldest one she could find. She notes that Aaron has switched tables.

Memo is being released but the doctor says it’s very important that it take his antibiotics. Ursa says no worries, I’ll take care of him. The doctor also says the police want to talk to Memo and are on their way in. The police tell Memo that Cesar was a man wanted by various authorities throughout Mexico and had a lot of charges pending. Also, he worked with an accomplice that hasn’t yet been identified. They ask if Memo knows anything else about Cesar but he says he told them everything he knows and, in the incident, today, he attacked alone. The police thank him and take their leave.

Back home, Dani is upset and remembering the scene between Memo and Ursa in the hospital, tears run down her face. Falso enters thinking that damn trucker must be rotting in hell! He gleefully approaches an upset Dani and asks what’s wrong. He’s playing the nice Falso today and begs Dani to trust him and confide in him.

Back at the table, Mac goes to take a bathroom break and grabs Grace instead. They have the inevitable confrontation about Grace working there but Grace gets the upper hand by promising daddy that if he does anything to ruin her new job, she’ll tell all his family that he has a whole other family across town.

 

Camino – Capitulo 46 – Part 3 of 4

More of Falso’s B.S. and Dani finally asks to take Isa to Amparo’s house to see Memo and Amparo and immediately Falso turns to no, no, no. Dani tells Falso about Memo’s attack and how he could have been seriously hurt/killed but he wasn’t he just got a little shoulder wound. Doesn’t Falso realize Isa could have lost Memo today without ever knowing he was her dad too? Falso turns away to hide his dismay that Memo is still alive and well-ish.

Memo tells the family about Cesar shooting him. Leo reacts by calling Cesar exact what he was but Humberto tells him to control his comments. Leo apologizes to Ursa and says she’s a good woman but Cesar and Mac are scum. Ursa apologizes for her family and Amparo tells her to take care because she is pregnant. Ursa swears she never expected Cesar to do something like that. Ursa is rude to Amparo and says she knows exactly what she needs to do for the baby. Memo chooses the happy family route and says they need to celebrate being together and Amparo’s upcoming book debut!

Mac is suddenly losing at Dominos. Aaron is willing to leave before Mac loses all his money but gambling addict Mac wants to keep going. Aaron says he really has to go but he gives Mac the card to some swanky club where he can gamble for real. The buy in is high but the pay outs are really good!

Gaby and Lupe are in the restaurant talking about how beautiful mom looks for the book cover, speaking of, I almost didn’t recognize Gaby in this scene and she’s not wearing the garish yellow-pink eyeshadow. Lupe instead is wearing the more daring eye makeup. Gaby says all the woman in their family are beautiful and Grace is in the background giving her the evil eye. JuanPa arrives and Grace looks interested. JuanPa and Sebas have a silly argument about whose girlfriend is better and then the couples start making up. A fed-up Grace runs outside.

Once outside, Grace is crying asking why she had to be the only ugly daughter of Macario. Yolanda calls and Grace is rude and short tempered. She only has bad things to say about Gaby and Lupita but she admits that their boyfriends are handsome. Grace’s new plan is to steal Gaby’s boyfriend. Yo tries to talk Grace out of it but Grace tells her she’s the last person to talk. She’s just following Mommy’s example.

Dani arrives at the restaurant with Chuchita and Isa. It looks like Dani made herself up really pretty for this little visit. Amparo greets them all with much love showering kisses on Isa. Chuchita gives Amparo the dress and Dani gives her the advice to relax and enjoy the night. Isa wants to know how Memo is and then she wants to go see him so Amparo calls Chema to go with Isa to see Memo. Amparo and Dani comment on how Isa and Chema love each other so much and Amparo says it must be the call of the heart because after all, they are cousins.

Memo finds a note from Ursa saying she went to pick up a car and will be back soon. Next, he looks at Isa’s drawing and says ‘what I wouldn’t give to hug you!’ At that moment, Isa enters the room calling Memo, and Memo gets the hug he so badly needed! Chema enters too and says he and mono man want a hug too, and it’s group hug time!

Ursa is waits til she’s driving down the street to breakdown. She thinks back to moments with Cesar and cries hysterically, telling him to rot in hell.

Back to the young couples preparing for the book event while Grace looks on enviously. Eugenio arrives with a beautiful white orchid (I think, I’m not a flower expert) and Mac sets aside his little bouquet of yellow flowers. Grace teases Mac about having competition. Sebas complains about the box of books being heavy but JuanPa teases him about being a weakling and picks the box up over his head asking where he should put them. Grace watches with great appreciation.

 

Camino – Capitulo 46 – Part 4 of 4

Eugenio notices the food smells wonderful and they say it’s all the food for tonight. Everything’s ready and it’s good because the guests are about to arrive. Gaby says that she will be the hostess for the evening and look how elegant she looks. Eugenio tells her she looks beautiful and Lupita too! Mac is not happy to see the way Eugenio is getting along with his daughters.

Ursa arrives with the briefcase at Casa de Satan, otherwise known as Falso’s house. Falso is immediately rude of course but Ursa says she came return his filthy money. She knows he was in cahoots with Cesar to kill Memo. Ursa wants to know what Dani will think when she finds out her husband tried to kill the father of her child! Or better yet, what will the whole world think when they discover Fausto Beltran is a murderer!!

Eugenio greets Mac and they have a tense exchange. Mac starts off rough and you could see the worry on everyone’s face but Mac takes the high road for once and says that on the day he married Amparo, my Amparo, he promised to do everything to make her happy; but today they have Eugenio to thank for this current happiness. They shake hands and relieved smiles appear around the room. Mac puts his arm around Eugenio and tells him he’s Amparo’s agent and they need to talk money and his commission. Eugenio basically just smiles and nods.

Falso gets rough with Ursa and calls her trash. He says Ursa can’t prove anything. Ursa says she doesn’t need proof she knows what happened! It’s Falso’s fault that Cesar is dead! Your cousin? Falso asks. Or your husband? Cara de impactata for Ursa!

Isa wants to know how Memo got hurt and he tells her not only superheroes encounter danger and sometimes truckers have to face bad people who want to steal their merchandise. The kids decide Memo is the Super Trucker!

Falso tells Ursa being a bigamist is a crime that is paid with many years in prison. Ursa says it’s probably less than the number of years for murder. Falso admits he paid Cesar to kill Memo but Ursa isn’t going to say anything because Falso has her over the barrel. He knows that Ursa was legally married to Cesar at the time of her wedding and he also knows that the baby she’s expecting is really Cesar’s!! Ursa is shocked for a moment but then she says go ahead and tell. What do you think will happen the second Memo finds out our marriage is a sham? He’s going to run into the arms of you wife!! Falso doesn’t buy this, Dani may be confused but she’d never have the bad taste to actually be with that trucker. Ursa drops the bomb – oh, you don’t know that they kissed?

Isa and Chema are racing like super trailers and Memo is calling the race. Dani arrives and tells them it’s time to get ready for the event. Dani asks how Memo is doing and he’s fine. These two look at each other with so much love and longing but they just talk about the upcoming visit to the psychiatrist to preparing to tell Isa that Memo is her dad, and then they leave together to go join the party.

Ursa and Falso come to brass tacks, Ursa wants to protect Memo from Falso and Falso wants Ursa to keep Memo far away from Dani and Isa. Ursa says she’s done everything she can to do so and if it wasn’t for her they’d be together now! She advises Falso to take his wife and his child far far away from here and do it before Memo gets a lawyer and tries to fight for custody which is what his family wants him to do. She throws Falso’s money at him and says she doesn’t want anything that comes from him. Ursa is almost out the door but she turns back to tell Falso one more thing, I may be crazy but I’m not stupid. If anything happens to Memo, if you send someone else after him or tell anyone who Cesar really was in my life… she pulls her phone from her pocket, I’ll turn in the copy of this conversation I just recorded where you admit to trying to kill Memo.

 

VENCER

Diana, “snap out of it” if only “Women behaving badly” would follow your advice. What a group! Ester in particular needs professional help. You cannot erase a child’s identity. I am hoping for a fairy tale ending for Cinthia and her son.

“why did Julia not fight like a wildcat?” was my question, too. This was the second time we have seen Misael grab her like this. I loved Gina coming to her rescue. Gina might be goofy in her own way, but she has a good heart and is brave when the chips are down, similar to Erik.

As for Catalina, no surprise there. I cannot wait for her to take on Flavia!

As for Sergio, he sounds weirder all the time. Mirna deserves what she gets. I cannot believe she called Rayo a bastard to her face.

Jarifa, your recaps are bright spots in my day . I loved your subheadings!!!

Braulio and Sergio keep talking about " the lawyer" acting as " the straw man ." Could it be mysterious Sergio?

I could understand Cinthia crushing on Jer since he is probably the only person who has ever shown her any kindness and tried to help her .

Ester is a puzzle.

I agree that Esther wanting to change Denis' name is not right. It isn't particularly unusual but in this case it's about a neurotic need of hers rather than something beneficial to the child. BTW, has this child ever spoken a word?

I still don't trust Cinthia. Will we ever see her parents? I doubt they will trust her not to relapse.

Mirna was true to form. It's time for her to grow up and move out.

Ariel is now a woman? No wonder s/he needs help.

With 23 episodes to go there is still a lot of room for more issues to come up between these characters.

I am still disappointed that Fausto trumped Aaron, but was very pleased that Ursula got the better of Fausto. The look on his face was priceless! Here's hoping she puts that audio/video on the cloud and has the ability to lock the phone if it's stolen. Proof positive that female villains can seriously outsmart most male ones.

BTW, polygamy in Mexico is punishable with up to five years in federal prison.

Macario is going down. He will have to scam a lot more dinero to buy into that casino and he will be seriously pissed when he sees that Fausto's money is gone.

Graceless stealing JuanPa from Gaby? Could anything be less likely?

Darcy, another exercise in excellence that shone through every word. Marvelous!

“Falso turns away to hide his dismay that Memo is still alive and well-ish” was my favorite of many.

The episode belonged to Ursula. You captured her many and varied emotions perfectly: “Ursa is only semi-hostile” and “Ursa has apparently reached the end of her silence quota” were perfect. Desperation clearly fueled her fire and she fought, lied, schemed and threatened her way through the night. A copper-haired warrior. A survivor.

Initially, Aaron seemed a surprising and questionable choice to persuade Amparo to sell the land. But he realized right away that keeping Macario embroiled in small time cock fighting and card games with the locals would keep his thieving to a minimum and wouldn’t break him financially. Luring Macario into high stakes gambling shows there is a reason Aaron plays in the big league.

Ursula was smart to record her conversation with Fausto. Now all he has to do is to have Isa get her password and erase it. Too bad that little trick won’t work a second time. Ursula is now without allies (Macario is foe not friend). With Cesar’s death there will be renewed interest in his “accomplice that hasn’t yet been identified”.

In terms of Grace, I’m with Urban in “Could anything be less likely?”

Eugenio knows exactly who Macario is and Macario realizes that Eugenio is a very real threat. Their little seemingly cordial interactions are great to watch but there is no mistaking the underlying tension.

Loved “group hug time!” and “Casa de Satan” is a keeper.

Thank you, Darcy! You cauhgt everything and then some! I dozed off last night so I especially appreciate reading about the last few minutes.

So Ursula taped the conversation, perfecto!! Very cunning...and smart of her, but I still don't like her LOL I hope she realizes that she will now be Fausto's target.

Urban, I'm with you too in terms of Grace--“Could anything be less likely?” MAYBE if she would get rid of those Bantu knots (I had to look those up!) she'd have a slimmer of a chance. I was really hoping that Grace meeting the family and seeing how loving they are would soften her, but it seems to be only adding fuel to the fire.

Fausto telling Aaron to get Amparo to sell the land is worrisome. If Mac's gambling doesn't do it, then Aaron may resort to more physically dangerous means.

Falso was being oh so False-oh in his concern for Dani when she was crying. Loved those looks of annoyance and disbelief she was giving.

Thanks again, Darcy. You filled in the gaps quite nicely!

Ester now creeps me out. Why has no Maximo suggested therapy after hearing this idea of hers? It's quite something having to watch someone go round the bend like that without realising it. Geronimo honestly could do better.I find it interesting that usually I get angry at men in these tns because they are the ones with issues and the ones who usually don't quite deserve the lovely women that seem to love them beyond all reason. However, here it's the opposite. Ester even is very unlikable as a person. She might want to murder Gero once she figures out the truth. But her being so self-righteous whenevershe talks with Maximo about Ivan is usually hard to watch for me.
The transgender plot feels as though the writers were trying to include as many modern themes as possible so I kind of feel a bit indifferent here. They already used this in the last vencer.
So Lenar decided to get back with Donato...Why exactly? Donato doesn't deserve to be cast aside but she doesn't strike me as someone who would put a lot of effort into a relationship if she has no genuine interest in the person. I can't see her motivation lasting long if it's just out of convenience. Poor Donato. He deserves better.

Hoorah for Gina! I had had it up to here with Gina, but last night taking on Misael she was fabulous.

Julia keeps saying Misael was never violent like that before. Well, he is now, so why is she giving him a whole month to get out. Why not tonight?

Yep, Ester is off the deep end. I'm actually looking forward to seeing Jero support Cinthia getting her son back, with whatever Social Services requires of her to prove she's fit to keep custody. I'm betting Sergio will claim he needs Mirna to send lots of cash pronto to get him out of a jam.

Grace irritates me because she is angry enough to resort to doing petty stuff in addition to her 'bigger' plans. But it's so tragic Macario doesn't love her. She outright tells him what she has always wanted and it's as though she were telling that to a wall. But Yolanda doesn't love Grace either. Why? i hope her stupidity will ruin her. How many episodes does this telenovela have?

Cheers! Ursula thought to record Falso. Boo! Ursula is still salty with Amparo. But I do understand Ursula's annoyance with Dani showing up at the hospital.

Grace has no chance at YuanPa, but she is an aspirational girl, like the way she's changed her given name the plebeian "Graciela" to the elegant "Grace." I see a makeover in her future. I just hope it includes an attitude change.

Aaron and Macario, interesting pairing. Diana, you gave me food for thought: "Luring Macario into high stakes gambling shows there is a reason Aaron plays in the big league."

I hate to say this " outloud" , but I am ready for this show to end .....Next ...to quote Caray's resident Dr.Carlos . I find that these characters have fallen into two categories : 1) awful 2) awfully dazed and confused and useless. Ester is a special case .She is awful and thinks she is being proactive and large and in charge but is dazed and confused and ultra cranky.

CAMINO Ep 47 Part 1

Once again, we see Ursula warn Fausto that if Memo gets so much as a scratch, she will turn in the recording where he admits to ordering that Memo be killed to the police.

At the restaurant, Leo thanks Chuchita for the dress she lent Amparo. Chuchita tells him that she didn't lend it to her, she gave it to Amparo. On the other side of the room, Dani and Memo comment how well the place looks. Memo thinks Amparo well deserves it. A distance away, Grace gives Gaby an evil look. She walks over to Gaby and JuanPa and introduces herself. This is her first day, she tells them. Gaby welcomes her and after Grace leaves, Gaby comments that Grace seems very sweet (if she only knew!). Lupita is with Sebas who is offered a drink by one of the waitresses...and he turns it down. Lupita is pleasantly surprised; he's not drinking anymore...doing it for her, he tells her. Humberto warns Mac to be nice to Sebas, Mac struts over and starts with a smile which soon turns into a scowl as he warns Sebas that if he hurts Lupita, he will go at him with trailer and hit him in the front and the back. Lupita wonders why Mac isn't like that with Gaby; so Mac tells her that Gaby is not as trusting as she is and JuanPa is not as sly as Sebas. He ends by sniffing Sebas since dogs tend to know each other well. Eugenio calls everyone to attention and asks them to sit down. After he asks for an applause, Amparo takes the stage and thanks everyone as they clap and cheer for her.

Fausto turns up at Karen's house. After she asks what he is doing there, he grabs her and tells her that she continues being his...and they engage in some forceful passionate liplocks!

Eugenio lauds Amparo as he introduces her...as the author of the book. Amparo then gives her appreciation to all those present...her family...and also to her mother, Martina. She explains that the restaurant was her mother's dream and it turned into a family business. The book contains recipes that were her mother's best, plus others that Amparo created. As they celebrate, a thunderous black cloud blows in throwing lightening bolt looks at Memo and Daniela who are together.

Fausto and Karen have managed to get to her bedroom where she pushes him away and tells him she isn't going to fall again...he betrayed her! Fausto tells her that she betrayed him too; he hates to admit that he still needs her...he can't be without her! As he holds her, Karen tells him that she hates him!!

When Dani goes to look for Isa, Ursula starts in on Memo who asks her not to start. He asks why she was late, she lies about having to work. Memo then asks if she needs help contacting family about Cesar, but Ursula tells him that they have no one else. Memo just wants her to be well, and Ursula tells him that she will be well as long as she is with him. She gives him an air-sucking kiss which Dani witnesses..so Dani says her good-byes to Amparo.

At Karen's bedroom, Fausto wants to leave before Sebas catches them again, so Karen tells him that Sebas is at the book presentation. They talk some more and then the doorbell rings. Karen thinks the sushi has arrived, but to her surprise it's Su-he-Aaron! She asks what he is doing there...she is busy and he can't stay. Aaron (correctly) guesses that Fausto is there!

At the restaurant, Eugenio and Amparo are talking about how the restaurant isn't just a business, it is where they have built so much and lost some also. Mac watches them as he scowls and pours himself another drink. Humberto approaches and tells him to behave and not ruin Amparo's night. Grace then approaches Mac and smirks that she is seeing how all of the family hates him! Mac takes ore swigs.

Karen denies that Fausto is there...she is more dignified than that (no she isn't!). The sushi then arrives and Aaron comments that he really likes sushi!

 

CAMINO Ep 47 Part 2

Ursula asks Memo when they will tell Isa the truth. Memo replies that not yet but hopes it's soon. Ursula then warns him that Dani and Fausto may be gaining time to get a lawyer...Memo shouldn't trust them.

Karen tells Aaron that she wants to be alone...and thanks him for the nice flowers. After Aaron leaves, Fausto mocks that she shouldn't treat her future husband like that. Fausto then leaves.

Ursula is on top of Memo wanting to release some of her energy, but Memo is saved when Ursula sees Cesar who tells her that her kisses still belong to him! Ursula quickly backs off.

Grace tells Yo about the evening. She tells Yo that Amparo was very interested in Eugenio...and Amparo ignored Mac all night long. She warns UYo that Mac will not be able to win over Amparo so Yo can forget all that Mac promised.

Eugenio calls Amparo to tell her that the critics spoke well of her book.

Dani is at the nursery. When she sees the daisies she recalls Memo asking why she was crying and her telling him that they remind her of the first day she saw Isa.

Memo pours his heart out to Leo...he loves Dnai with all his heart and feeling like he is slowly dying without her.

Dani is driving away from the nursery in tears. She tries to reach for her phone, but it falls. When she tries to get it again, she loses control of the van ad crashes into a tree and hits her head on the steering wheel...she is out!! A little later, Dani comes to and grabs her aching head...she sees that she is bleeding.

Memo continues talking about how much he loves Dani. When he thought he was going to die, he could only think of Isa, the baby that he would not get to see...and Dani; he thought of the kiss...and how he had never felt so alive. When Leo reminds him that he is married to Ursula, Memo tells him that he married her being completely in love with Dani. Leo had no idea that Memo was that much in love with Dani. Memo knows that he has to face the consequences of his decisions. Leo advises him not keep all those feelings inside because he will explode. Memo cries that he doesn't know how to tear Dani out of his heart.

Dani struggles to get out of her car but stumbles and falls to the ground. She manages to reach for her phone and intends to call Fausto.

Leo tells Memo that he isn't only hurting himself , he is hurting Ursula. Memo knows and feels horrible that he is with Ursula while thinking of Dani. Just then, Memo's phone rings. When he sees that it's Dani, Leo advises him not to answer, but Memo argues that it might be about Isa. When Memo answers, Dani calls out for Fausto so Memo tells her it's him. After Dani tells him that she crashed, Memo asks where she is and tells her he is non the way. Dani tries to tell him not to go and to call Fausto but Memo has hung up.

Ursula tells Mac that Cesar is dead...it's the best thing that could happen to her! Mac questions her; so Ursula tells him that Cesar was acting alone...and the cops mentioned that they had already been looking for her. When Mac mentions that she was his accomplice, Ursula assures him that no one suspects her. Mac then smiles thinking that they have all that money, so Ursula then tells Mac that she returned the money to Fausto...it will ensure Memo's safety.

 

Fausto tells Aaron that Memo is still alive...and the person he hired died. Aaron tells him that when Karen marries him, he will do the job; but Fausto tells him that Memo can't hurt...his wife bought him life insurance. Fausto then turns the subject to the purchase of the property. Aaron tells him that he was right about Mac liking money...and that will be Mac's biggest mistake. Fausto tells Aaron to become Mac's best friend and then they will go to Phase 2 of the plan...Amparo will sell when her family is at risk!

Ursula goes to identify Cesar's body. When alone she tells him that she hopes he is rotting in hell!!

Mac is rummaging through Cesar's things and finds Ursula's civil and religious marriage certificates (to Cesar). Mac thinks he should keep the documents in case he needs them later.

Memo and Leo arrive at the accident site. As Memo helps Dani into the car, Leo tells him to take Dani to the hospital and he will stay and call Ursula to come with her tow truck.

Eugenio goes to the restaurant with great news. Grace comments about Eugenio being Amparo's novio, so Amparo assures her that they are just friends. Eugenio then shows Amparo an online article that talks well about her book. Eugenio thinks they should celebrate and invites Amparo for dinner at his house.

Memo has taken Dani to the hospital and is told that they need to talk to one of Dani's family members.

Amparo makes excuses about not going to dinner, but after some coaxing, she agrees! Eugenio offers to send a car for her, but Amparo insists that she can go on her own. When Eugenio leaves, Grace comments that for being just friends, Amparo sure does get nervous!

Mac is with Yo who urges him to woo Amparo and make her fall in love with him. Then he can get the land and leave her... but he needs to give her gifts!

Karen is in Fausto's office and complains that he takes advantage of her love for him...but someday she will reach her limit! After she leaves, Fausto gets the call about Dani from Chuchita.

Amparo is trying to decide which dress to wear when Mac enters with a necklace for her...because he is proud of her...and he misses her. As he cheers for her, he notices the dresses and and asks where she is going. Amparo won't lie...and tells him she is going to have dinner at Eugenio's!

Fausto arrives at the hospital and storms into the waiting room where he asks Memo for his wife. After Memo tells him that they are running tests, but Dani is well, Fausto asks where he and Dani were coming from...a hotel?! He grabs Memo by his shirt and scowls, "...since when are you sleeping with my wife?!"

Rgv Chick, the smooth and graceful ebb and flow of your writing is unparalleled. You masterfully relayed all the events and did so beautifully. Your infusion of humor added so much! A joy to read.

“Karen thinks the sushi has arrived, but to her surprise it's Su-he-Aaron!” had me laughing out loud and was one of many favorites. Aaron’s showing up was deliberate; he wanted to make the point that he won’t be played for a fool. It was Karen who played the fool, whose lie was pitiful and transparent.

“As they celebrate, a thunderous black cloud blows in throwing lightening bolt looks at Memo and Daniela who are together” was perfect.

“Memo cries that he doesn't know how to tear Dani out of his heart’ was painfully evident throughout tonight’s episode. Daniela is grieving the loss of Memo, whom she never truly had. The look of love and longing that she gave him when he was helping her into the car would melt the coldest heart.

Macario struck gold finding Ursula’s marriage certificate.

The specter of Cesar haunted Ursula.

The book launch was a success and I was happy Macario didn’t ruin things for Amparo. I loved that she thanked everyone except Macario. Grace was at the right place at the right time. She picked up on Eugenio and Amparo’s attraction, the fact that everyone hates Macario and many other tasty tidbits.

Another rant and rave from Fausto. We can always count on him for righteous indignation can’t we?

VENCER #59 Part 1

Notes from the couch

Okay, here we go

1. No surprise in the first scene where Angel is trying to inform his goofy sister Mirna that she should not treat Rayo like she is (calling Rayo a bastard) because they are related by blood. Goofy Mirna could not care less. She says if Rayo stays, she is going. Angel directs her to another part of the house to talk privately. Homero asks Rayo if she is his new nurse.He doesn't understand what is going on. Rayo sweetly says she will explain everything that is going on. He then calls her Margarita.

2. Cinthia is not sure when exactly she's going to be released and is worried about finding a place to stay. Jero says he will help her find a place. She remembers him coming to find her. She thinks she might want to work on the food truck. Jero thinks that is a good idea but first he would have to see if there would be enough money to pay her. She says if not there, she will find a job somewhere else. Jero tells her when she is out, she can count on him for whatever she needs. She has realized that now is the time to change and be a good person like her son deserves. She asks if he has seen Denis and if he is okay. She imagines that Ester has taken very well care of him. Jero agrees.

3. Max guides Ester through the custody forms. She is going to get right on them. Ester wonders what would happen if Cinthia or anyone in her family were to try to take custody of Denis after she had gotten it. He says if his parents wanted him there could be a custody fight and they could win if they could prove that they were good people and had the means to support him. He says if Cinthia were to appear, the only way for Ester to get custody of Dennis would be to prove that she is still is an addict. Max is concerned because he thinks that Ester hasn't really looked for Cinthia. (He has a good BS meter) Ester lies and says she has looked under every rock and takes offense that Max is doubting her. (NOPE. He just knows she is is liar after being married to her for so long.)

4. The doctor tells Angel and the rest of the family that it would probably be better to place Homero in an institutional setting where he could be cared for professionally 24/7. Even with the nurse at the house and all the family members helping out, it is possible that Homero could get severely upset, out of the house or even hurt himself. At he very least, he would like to hospitalize Homero to do some more tests. Angel says they will think about what he said. Doris insists that she can take care of Homero. Goofy Mirna agrees with her and doesn't miss a chance to remind them that she is going to be busy with Sergio and the wedding. . . ( I doubt that is ever going to take place but the goofball can dream) Angel is left with hard decision.

5. Julia tells Chepina that she hopes that Misael keeps up the taxi thing (with her father's car, or course!) because he has been bringing home good money. You can never have too much money!! (ITA) Chepina reminds her that she gave Misael a set amount of time to get himself organized and out of the house and that time is over. Why is she dragging her feet? Chepina thinks that Julia is not pressuring Misael like she should because she feels guilty. Julia agrees but refuses to explain why.


 

VENCER Part 2

6. Back down in the parking garage (where only rats would choose to gather), Misael tells Braulio that his wifey thinks that the money he is bringing home in is from taxi driving. She has no idea that the money is from their Laredo venture. Braulio is not pleased because his money is mixed up in that, too. He wants to know how much Misael has spent. Misael says it was just a little charity contribution to get the family off his back. Misael doesn't understand why Braulio just doesn't just tell Angel that he is the partner. Braulio says that Angel would suspect him and ask him where the money came from. Braulio needs his lawyer to act as his straw man, sign the partnership agreements and then sign the rights to everything over to him because he is he real partner. (Gee, what could go wrong??) Yup, Misael says he understands. He tells him to remember him when he is on top (top rat at the company)
Braulio asks what else does he want? He got him out of jail. He will get his percentage of the money. Misael again tells him to not forget him now that his wife is going to kick him out of the house. Her deadline has passed but she has said nothing. Braulio thinks that wives are the most dangerous when they are quiet. It means that they are planning something.

7. Fast tongued Flavia is telling Celeste that she suspects that Erik and Ariel have a bordello operating out of their apartment. Celeste wants to see them kicked out. Celeste says she should talk to them. It must be a misunderstanding. Flavia thinks that this is a place where values are respected. She still is ragging on Rayo , the food truck and how she never paid for the damage she did. Celeste says Rayo never did anything to the food truck. She tells Flavia how Rayo is getting to know her family. Celeste tells her that her pregnancy is going well. Flavia asks if things with her husband are, too. (ODD question from an ODD duck) Celeste claims he is supporting her a lot like he always does.

8. Catalina has invited Gina in and explains that she has always been a transgender woman. She cannot remember feeling any other way. At four, she knew she was a girl. People like her have a hard time in childhood because society makes them feel like they do not belong. When she would play, she always waned to be the princess or the mother, always the feminine character. People can be cruel because they do not see these things as normal. It is as if you want to play with dolls and be princesses and you are forced to play with little cars and be superheroes. She loved playing with dolls because she could see herself reflected in them. So, she has decided to be free and release the woman she is completely. Now, she will start to be in the body that really is hers. If someone were to ask her what has been the best day of her life, she would say it was when she decided to begin her transition. Even better was when one day, she went to a restaurant and somebody referred to her as a woman. They asked what the "señorita" was going to order. It hasn't been nor will it be an easy road because of the society they live in but with a lot of courage and therapy she is going to be the woman she has always dreamed of being. Gina gives her a hug and realizes what she did to her relationship with Erik.

9. Jero is having tea with Ester. She tells him that she is going to file the forms to gain custody of Denis. She is also going to be changing the strange name he has. Jero thinks that is a big step and asks if she is sure that is what she wants to do.
He advises her to look for Cinthia before she does anything ike that. She scoffs at the idea. She left her child behind.

10. (That rat )Misael comes home for supper lying about being oh so tired !! from driving the cab for so many hours. Rodolfo doesn't understand why he would be complaining. Gina walks in looking really down in the dumps. Chepina and Rodolfo keep the banter going.
 

VENCER Part 3

11. Rayo is entertaining Angel and Homero with her tales of sneaking out for food from Homero's late wife Maria's room. She was afraid that her growling stomach would wake them up. Homero laughs saying they were blaming him for eating all the fruit that was there. Rayo apologize again for everything she did and took. She doesn't know how to pay them back. Angel tells her that he knows only the situation in which she found herself and he knows she is sorry. Homero smiles thinking about the mysterious tenant who really was a part of the family. Rayo is so glad she found them and is now is a part of the family. the only thing that bothers her is that Mirna hates her. Angel says Mirna does not hate her. Homero says she is a bit "complicated." Angel agrees. Angel and Homero are sure that with time, she and Mirna will get along just fine. Homero is so happy that they were lucky enough to find her! All three toast to the Funes family with orange juice.

12. Goofy Mirna is out with Ana Sofí telling her how she cannot stand that bastard Rayo. She was a thief but now her brother and father have turned her into her little sister. Why??? Ana Sofí knew that was going to happen. Angel and Homero are very soft-hearted. That is why their business is like it is. Mirna knows she has to get things clarified with Sergio but he does thinks of her. He sends her flowers all the time. Ana Sofí doesn't see why she would be satisfied with that. Ana Sofí is having a problem with her social media. Everyone wants to know about her romantic life post-Angel. She is going to have to make something up. Her life is so hard being an influencer.

13. Ester tells Jero that she wants to know exactly what happened to her son in the accident. She doesn't believe a single thing that comes out of Misael's mouth and now it seems like he is going to get off scot free. His version is worth nothing. Max comes in and Jero leaves. Max thinks Jero left so Flavia wouldn't scold him. He tells her that Jero and Flavia are going out. Ester says she doesn't know and she doesn't care. Jero is her friend.

14. Goofy Mirna has a sure fire way to get her brother's attention. She tells Ana Sofí to get pregnant by Angel. Ana Sofí says that sounds like something out of a telenovela. It is so last century! She would never do something like that to keep a man. Ana Sofí asks Mirna if she has thought about doing that. Mirna just grins and asks Ana Sofí what she plans to do. Ana Sofí is still thinking about giving him an ultimatum. Mirna has to go because Sergio is going to call.

15. Julia and Angel are texting each other abut how much they miss and want to see each other.
 

VENCER Part 4

16. Gina goes to see Erik. She asks if he has seen Catalina. He says that she is out She may be back later or maybe not. Gina says she has something to tell him. She tells him how utterly bad she feels. She broke up with him because she thought he was cheating on her with a big tall girl. She saw her leaving his apartment from time to time. He doesn't get why she didn't talk directly to him rather than getting rid of him except on her social networks of all places. She wouldn't even do it face to face. She doesn't know why he didn't he tell her that Ariel was a transgender woman and that who was coming and going. Erik lets her have it. He says she never asked him and what is more it wasn't his to tell. It was Catalina's business. Friends respect each other. She says it has nothing to do with Catalina being transgender. She says not at all. Erik explains that he is not prejudiced. He thinks that her problem is that she doesn't trust him and it shows in the way she attacked him on her social network. He tells her it is best that she just go home. He has had it with her and her toxic way of monitoring him and seeing who is coming and going from his apartment. He tells her GOODBYE and opens the door for her. She leaves disappointed. Erik is upset.

17. Doris brings Mirna some tea. She hopes Sergio's call will calm any doubts she has. Sergio calls. He is okay but there are some things that aren't . He cannot tell her where he is. She asks why is wrong. He says that he failed at his job. His boss' enemies crashed through the security that he had designed and almost killed them. He is going to send her some photos. She can only view them once before they are erased. She asks why. He says it is for her security. Mirna gets a photo of Sergio with blood all over his face that has dripped onto his shirt and suit. He tells her to listen closely because he needs her help. (Uh oh!!)

18. Jero is studying with Adair but now is done. Ebe makes him some food. Jero asks how their mother is doing. Adair hopes they reconcile. Adair goes to bed. Ebe sees his father is worried. He asks if it about their mother. Jero says yes and then there are also other problems like the one between Ester and Cinthia.

19. Julia asks Danny would happen if his father were to leave the house (REALLY????) He says he would feel really bad. (What else did she expect him to say?? He is a kid!!!) He wouldn't want to see his father go live somewhere else. He is bothered that she and his father are angry with each other. He wants them together.He asks if she doesn't love his father anymore. She says it is hard because people and situations change. When that happens, it is often better to separate so everyone can be happy. Danny doesn't understand it and he doesn't want to be separated from his father. He doesn't want his father and mother to stop being married.

20. Jero tells Ebe he is worried he is going to lose his friendship or whatever he has with Ester because he has been helping Cinthia.
 

VENCER Part 5

Cinthia has a right to her son. Ebe questions that considering she could have a relapse. Jero disagrees because he thinks everyone deserves a second chance. Jero concludes that he needs to talk to Ester about what is going on ASAP before Cinthia appears. Ebe agrees that he has a big mess to deal with.

21. Mirna tells Sergio she is waiting for his instructions. He says that she has to do exactly what he tells her to do. He would never ask her for help unless he absolutely needed it. He is really desperate. She is happy to help hm although she is not sure where she is going to get the MONEY. (BINGO!) He suggests that she ask Angel or her friend Ana Sofí. Mirna thinks that Ana Sofí will help her. She assures Sergio that in three days she will have all of the money for him. Sergio knows he didn't make a mistake with Mirna! She is the love of his life!! Mirna grins.

22. Jero and Ester take Denis to school. He tells her that he needs to talk to her about something tomorrow. They agree to meet. Neither sees a sour Flavia followjng them and spying on them.

23. Chepina tells Rodolfo that she didn't even set a place for Gina at breakfast. .She is all depressed. She suggests that Rodolfo talk to her.

24. Julia reminds Misael that the time has past for him to leave. He asks for a few days more. He doesn't want to leave Danny. Of course, Danny overhears. Misael says that his mother wants him go live somewhere else. Danny says he doesn't want that to happen. Misael tells Julia he is going to take Danny to school and will talk to him.

25. Angel tells Doris to get Rayo for breakfast. Mirna says she better eat fast so she doesn't hav hot share the table with that thief. Homero tells her to cut out her tantrums already. Mirna ignores him and then asks Angel how the company is doing. Angel asks since when is she interested in the company. He and Homero laugh. Homero tells Angel to tell her the truth. She has a right to know. Angel says they've reached a state of equilibrium but they have a few debts with the largest debt being with the Ordax family. Mirna says that could be solved with a snap of the fingers if Angel were to go back with Ana Sofí and leave that tacky Julia behind. Homero and Angel both cannot believe how she is talking. Rayo arrives. Mirna says she can smell poverty. Her appetite has disappeared. She excuses herself. Homero tells Rayo to ignore Mirna. He says that Rayo only has to be concerned about getting back into school and going on with her studies. Angel says he will go with her to see where they are going to enroll her. She gets a text from Celeste to come eat and chat. She asks if she can go. Homero says of course!

26. At work, Angel tells Ester how Rayo is excellent and his father is so happy to have her at the house. They will be enrolling Rayo

Ester says that he must have a lot of trust in Braulio to think about accepting a partner that he doesn't know. Angel says he trusts him a lot. He was instrumental in keeping the company afloat and reaching this point of equilibrium the company finds itself in today. Ester asks if she can take an extra hour for lunch. She wants to file some documents dealing with Denis' custody. She will make up the time tomorrow. Angel says no problem.
 

VENCER Part 6

27. Angel gets a text from Julia who wants to talk to him on the phone.

28. Julia is home alone with Misael. Since they are alone, she hands him the divorce papers. She informs him that nowadays, both people do not have to agreee. One person wanting a divorce is enough. He cannot believe it! Does she think it s fair after all he sacrificed for her when she got pregnant? (Uh, she didn't get pregnant on her own.) He makes it clear that she isn't going to get rid of him so easily. He will get his family back. She tells him to stop insisting. It is for the best of everyone that they are no longer together. He starts to leave to go pick up Danny. She offers to go with so they can continue to talk. He says no. He is going alone now that he knows she wants to take his son away from him. He leaves in huff.

29. Rayo sees Mati. Mati says she doesn't have time to chat. Rayo says she just needs to tell her something. She tells Mati that she treated her very badly but that she didn't rat her out because of all she had done for her but she is no longer her friend. Teo appears and Mati leaves with him to get away from Rayo.

30. Celeste sees how upset Rayo is. Rayo says she was just dealing with a crooked friend. Celeste guesses it is the girl that got her into the Funes house. Rayo nods. She adds she is the same one who let the thieves in the house. Celeste thinks they have lots to talk about.

31. At the food truck, Jero sees Ester and confirms they will be talking later. Flavia appears next to collect her rent. He thought she said. . . . (that he could wait) Nope, she rejects ever having said that and needs to get his account settled. She has him accompany her back to her place.

32. Mirna tells Angel she needs money. He asks for what ? She tells him it is none of his business (in English even) . Her mother left her an inheritance and she wants what is hers. Homero tells her to calm down. Mirna wants her money!!! Angel tells her to breathe. He asks again what it is for. She refuses to tell him. Angel says he cannot help her now because h ehas to go to work. He tells Mirna they will talk this evening.

33.Angel gets a text from Julia to see if they can talk now.
 

VENCER Part 7

34. Flavia tells Jero that besides him owing her rent, something else is bothering her a lot. She wants to know if he has something going on with Ester. Jero doesn't know where that question is coming from. That is something private. She doesn't know if she can trust him. If he has something going on with Ester, he isn't going to be able to live with her. He refuses to discuss that with her. They need to think about this. They will talk later.

35. Julia tells Angel that she gave Misael the divorce papers. He took it very badly. She feels responsible and she doesn't know why.
Angel doesn't understand either unless there is something he doesn't know. She says there is and she wants to tell him about it.

36. Misael comes back looking for Julia. He hears her talking to Angel in her bedroom. She is telling Angel something she is ashamed of.

37. Celeste and Rayo have bought the ingredients for what Celeste is going to cook for her. As they cut through the park, Rayo sees Mati with Teo talking to Chilo. She tells Celeste who it is. She cannot believe it. She grabs Celeste and gets them out of there.

38. Julia says she was very young. Misael was her first love and she was so very much in love with him. When she felt she was losing him, she lied to him and stopped using birth control. She got pregnant. She made Misael stay with her because of the child. So, Misael had to abandon his plans to be a singer. Ever since then , she has felt guilty around him. Misael has heard enough and leaves.

39. Jero gets back to the food truck and Adair tells Jero that Cinthia got out of rehab and came by. She was looking for him or Ester. She was headed to Ester's. Jero leaves to find her.

40. Cinthia runs into Ester. She tells her she is there to see her son. She admits she didn't do things the right way before but now she is going to to. She asks where Denis is. Ester says he is at child care. Cinthia asks if she can see him. Ester says no. She abandoned her child. Cinthia admits that she had problems but she was at a rehab center. Jero knew and he helped her out a lot through the whole process. Jero appears on the scene. Cinthia asks if Jero told her. Jero asks Ester to please hear what he has to say.

41. Misael confronts Julia. He now understands that she got pregnant with Daniel to screw up his life.

42. Angel finally gets to work. In his office, are Ana Sofí and her lawyers to negotiate with him. She explains she is there to settle the debt he has with the Ordax company. Her father sued him but there never was a settlement so now she is there to seize the Funes company. She says they can negotiate because of the affection she has for him but if he refuses, he will see a side of her he has never seen before.

Jarifa, although some of tonight’s scenes seemed to indicate fairly clearly what transpired, your fantastic, detail laden recap filled in the many conversational gaps I just could not follow.

“Fast tongued Flavia” was great. “Odd Duck” is the perfect descriptive. Flavia was even more dour than usual (if that is even possible), her anger clearly directed at Jero. It’s not going to take him long to rue ever going into business with her.

“Jero tells Ebe he is worried he is going to lose his friendship or whatever he has with Ester because he has been helping Cinthia”. Ya think?? Good heavens man, what is wrong with you??? Ester meeting up with Cinthia with Jero literally only steps behind her portends potentially explosive results.

Julia continues her downward spiral concerning “(That rat) Misael”. As you noted, WHY would she talk to Danny about Misael leaving?? Of course he doesn’t want his father to go! Considering how verbally and physically abusive he is, she should have told her father and should have insisted he leave the house immediately. Having any kind of private conversation with your back to the open door is a telenovela no no. And instead of discussing the weather with Angel, she spills a secret that has sent Misael into orbit. I fear she is the only one home too!

“Angel and Homero are sure that with time, she and Mirna will get along just fine”. Yes, I will be watching for that, along with flying pigs ☹

I’m glad Gina and Catalina had their conversation. Their hug is hopeful; Erik and Gina’s conversation was not. Erik made it clear from the beginning he had no use for “influencers” , Gina’s “profession” of choice. She didn’t try and speak to him but used her power to publicly attack him. I’m sorry it ended so badly, I hope that they can find a way to be friends.

So…Sergio, playing the bloodied hostage ploy (because of course his captors let him make the frantic call to Mirna). She can kiss that inheritance goodbye. There was one thing I wanted to mention. When Homero, Mirna and Angel were having breakfast, Doris looked over her shoulder and stared at them. I wondered at that moment if I had misjudged her and she is in on whatever Sergio is pulling.

Will Ana make Angel part of the bail out package?

Ursula and Fausto are very similar. They both feel they have the right to carry on with someone else but expect total faithfulness from their mates. I do hope Ursula sees Cesar’s face every time she’s on the bed with Memo. That might be too much to hope for!

By luring Mac into gambling they seem to feel the family will have to sell the land to pay his debts. I hope they’re smart enough not to do that. Aaron chose the weakest family member but it seems everyone’s fed up with him.

I’m wondering what tactics Grace is going to take to hurt the family.

Aarón seemed so meek when he turned over his shares to Fausto. I hope he has a plan to get the best of him. Our only hope seems to be if the bad guys work against each other. I will feel bad when Eugenio learns about Karen. Maybe Amparo will help him through that.

Where does Fausto leave his car when he’s at Karen’s. Apparently no one sees it.

This may go into Thursday’s show, but Amparo did not get at all suspicious of Ursula even knowing Cesar tried to kill Memo. And hadn’t Cesar kind of hinted to her that Ursula had a past.

We know we’ll see the marriage license again! I’m ready for some more bad guys to get discovered. I always think there’s not enough HEA!

Thanks, Jarifa, there was so much dialogue that I was lost. I thought Julia was saying she got pregnant by someone else! I don’t want Julia to get hurt but Rudolfo needs to walk in on him man handling Julia. That would get him on Julia’s side. And Braulio doesn’t want Misael to spend the money! Not sure why Misael has access to it if he’s only getting a percentage. Braulio is a little too trusting of him. And Angel is too trusting of Braulio. But if Braulio’s plans work won’t Angel realize Braulio has been cheating him?

Well, looks like many were right about Sergio! Diana, I also noticed Doris watching the family and thought she was probably working with Sergio.

Mirna is a really horrible person. She treats Rayo horribly. I doubt they have the money to give to Mirna but it would be great if it was in a trust and they gave it to her. She moves out, Sergio takes the money, and she’s out on the street. I guess I can dream!

I think Flavia suddenly wants her rent money because she feels Jero is more interested in Ester than her. I feel sorry for Jero, he’s so kind but Ester will be furious with him and Flavia is probably not paying him fairly. I don’t think they ever drew up papers for their partnership.

Looks like Rayo recognized one of the thieves. And they’re drawing poor innocent Tao into there web. I hope Celeste starts investigating this.

I LOVED Amparo's dress!!! Chuchita definitely has an eye for dressing for the client and Amparo looked radiant on her big night. The actress is beautiful and they spend most of their time hiding that behind big aprons and all-business looks but when she is allowed to dress up and shine, boy does she!

I was surprised and impressed that Ursa didn't make a scene at the book signing. She had her say with Memo but she did it in a mostly indoor voice and she calmed down quickly, I would almost think she was growing as a person, but we all know that isn't true.

I like watching Grace taunt Macario. If only she'd leave the rest of the family alone and just bug Mac I could root for her. Yolanda is as delusional as a woman waiting 15+ years for a man to leave his wife and family if she thinks that buying Amparo a few gifts is going to get her to run back into Mac's arms!!! Goodness. She should listen to Grace who can see the writing on the wall so clearly after only a day in the restaurant.

Diana, "Having any kind of private conversation with your back to the open door is a telenovela no no." Perfect! PSA: I would add it is a no no in the real world when in public alone but I digress. LOL The idea that Julia sabotaged Misael into marrying her by getting pregnant is a whole new low. Being young and emotionally desperate is no excuse to ruin another person's life. Although women do it in real life every day, I cannot think of anything more immoral. They give all women a bad name. I actually felt sorry for Misael. That being said, Julia better watch herself. She should have avoided being alone in the house or just with her son after Misael manhandled her the first time. Julia is not as smart or likable as I initially thought. What a nightmare if Ana Sofí would want to make herself a part of the negotiations with Angel! Yuck! I hadn't thought of that.

Liz, yes, Jero has really found himself in a mess because of silly "loyalty" issues with both Ester and Flavia because he just simply wants to do the right thing. Ester needs a therapist and Flavia needs to be ostracized/shunned until she can't take it and leaves the complex. At least Cinthia is trying to take care of her problem of addiction. I like your anvil for Mirna having her end up on the street. I am dreaming right along with you! If only. . . It was disturbing watching Teo being groomed by Mati and Chilo for no good. .

Thanks to you both for mentioning the glance that Doris gave to Angel and Homero. She has to be part of Sergio's plan.

There can be no doubt now that Memo and Dani will be together at the end. Neither can live without the other and their mutual rescues of each other more than confirms this.

Macario now has the upper hand over Ursula. Where will he hide these documents? When will Memo know the truth?

I was expecting a different dress, but this one is Amparo. But why did the wardrobe department dress Eugenio as an Italian Mafia boss?

Jarifa, I have to (rather sadly) echo your "Julia is not as smart or likable as I initially thought". No, she isn't. Although I cannot abide Ana Sofia, when Mirna was spouting her nonsense (was it the night before last?), to her credit Ana Sofia did say she would never intentionally get pregnant to "trap" someone (or something close to that). Judging from the look on Mirna's face, I'm wondering if Mirna had that in mind during her night with Sergio. It only takes once...

Liz, I think you are absolutely right in that Flavia changed her tune after seeing Jero with Ester. Demanding her money with her sour "I just ate a lemon" face was just the reaction we would expect. And yes "Mirna is a really horrible person" and I think her world is about to come crashing down around her.

Already chomping at the bit to see what happens Monday!

He was shrewd enough to let Karen know she isn't putting anything over on him and smart enough to make his point without doing anything drastic. I'm wondering if anyone is strong enougt to take down Fausto on their own? It might take a herculean group effort.

Darcy, Ursu did seem to be on her better behavior at the book signing but it may have been the venue and crowd that kept her relatively in check.

Urban, yes, Macario finding Ursu's marriage certifcate does not portend well for her. If Fausto gets his hands on it, he will use it as a bargaining chip - the paper for the video.

"I loved seeing Macario miserable at the successful book launch". Me too Niecie! I loved him putting down the sweet yellow flowers when Eugenio gave her the massive bouquet! He was seething seeing Lupita and Gaby smiling and chatting away with Eugenio. I expect Macario to drop the act and start overtly threatening Eugenio shortly.

Thanks, everyone! This was a pretty "calm" and enjoyable episode, a nice break from the scheming, crying, and (bad) action, but it did add to the storylines quite nicely.

Diana, "It was Karen who played the fool, whose lie was pitiful and transparent." How and why Aaron ate up her lies is beyond me. How sad if he actually knew Karen was lying and is still willing to go along with sharing her with Fausto. How desperate can a man be?? And if he already has some shares, why does he still want to marry Karen? Could it be that he has actually been smitten/bitten by the viper? And regarding Dani, " The look of love and longing that she gave him when he was helping her into the car would melt the coldest heart." I felt so badly for her; it seemed that she was longing for a kiss rather than just Memo's arms around her.

Liz, "I do hope Ursula sees Cesar’s face every time she’s on the bed with Memo." I hope so too! and I'm sure Memo hopes so too...even though he doesn't really know what brought Ursula to a screeching halt LOL. And "Aarón seemed so meek when he turned over his shares to Fausto. I hope he has a plan to get the best of him." I still can't believe he caved to Fausto so quickly and so intensely! Surely, he must have a plan; I can't wait to see what it is. Urban, "Macario now has the upper hand over Ursula." One of the things I find interesting about this TN is that all the villians have the others in their hands because of some secret(s). Mac and Ursula both have something on the other which can completely destroy them. Ursula knows about Yo, but doesn't know about Grace...yet! It'll be just a matter of time before that cat is out of the bag.
And I was so focused on Amparo's dress that I didn't notice Eugenio's Italian Mafia suit! Thanks for pointing that out!

I have a cousin, the sweetest, kindest woman, who when young and starry-eyed did the same as Julia. As with Julia, in the long run things didn't work. This is a good PSA.

Hurrah to Ana Sofi for turning down Mirna's suggestion to get pregnant! Trying to seize the Funes company is much more interesting.

I hope Jero and Ester break up (before they start up) over his aid to Cinthia. Ester has a lot to learn. How about stepping in and trying to be a mother to Cinthia?

Waterlily, ITA Ariel becoming Catalina in ultima semanas doesn't feel right. I wish they started that storyline earlier. Ariel has always seemed so confident, and I want to see that confidence in Catalina too.

Rgv Chick, on Aaron, "Could it be that he has actually been smitten/bitten by the viper?" Thank you for asking the million dollar question and for phrasing it perfectly. I've been struggling to try and figure this out.

In terms of last night, I don't think Aaron believed Karen at all. I think he went there expecting Fausto be there and wanted to catch her in a blatant lie. A few episodes earlier, Aaron did tell Fausto he didn't care if Fausto and Karen kept sleeping together as long as Aaron married her. But, did he mean that? He's fairly inscrutable and I can't decide if he does have real feelings for Karen or not. Is she a means to an end, an obsession or both??

I would think that marrying Karen would be important as if something tragic were to happen, her husband would inherit. Is that, could that be part of his master plan? Pure guesswork...I am really fascinated by their relationship and can't wait to see what happens.

Too bad Esther hasn't considered giving Cinthia a place to live so that they could both be there for Denis. Esther doesn't understand compromise or empathy . After she lost Ivan, she could have helped both herself and Rayo by offering Rayo a place to stay . They could have helped each other in their grief. Esther is on!y interested in one person. ..Esther.

As for Flavia , she feels she has lost both Max and Jero to Estber, I fear for that carefully displayed bell collection.

I am getting quite tired of Dani and Memo being separated and yearning and longing for each other. I just want to see some happy times and smooches between them! Could we at least have like a beach getaway where they accidentally fall to the sand smooching and have a wonderful passionate weekend together? Then after the vacation they can go back to pretending they dont have feelings.

Ugh I just really dont like how long it is taking for them to get together, though I do like that they are being honest about how they feel.

On a positive note I really like Eugenio and Amparo together, I hope we get more scenes of them and just them alone.
