Nice to see your comment, Carmela. I miss seeing you and other "regulars" in Telemundoland.
I have enjoyed some novelas which deal with narcotrafficking, provided they are well written and have compelling characters. The first La Reina del Sur, a worldwide hit, is, of course, the prime example.
I watched part of the first episode of Season 8; and, because I stopped watching years ago, was unable to grasp who everyone was, except for Aurelio's mother.
I hope Telemundo will come up with a more typical novela soon.
Novelera, Carmela & Co.,: I see that Jaime is determined to become President of Mexico by any means necessary. I've got a got feeling that Berenice might NOT make it alive by the end of Season 8.
I was temporarily relieved that she escaped from the mental institution, but I'm doubling-down it'll be short-lived.
Novelera, Carmella, Dondi356, Halimacandy & Co.,: Good Morning & here's a short recap of last night's episode.
*That Crazy Whacky Manzano & her lackey shoot a female prisoner to death & dump her body over the cliff. PS: Manzano is the ambitious DEA agent.
*The jackass who took Castillo's job is flaunting his egotistical power by having the Casillas family detained at the hospital.
*Cabo pays off the poor woman, whom he raped & taps her mouth shut before leaving.
*Cabo gets his $$$$. Dude needs to get back to Colombia, but I've got a feeling Aurelio will be gunning for his EXPLETIVE soon.
*Castillo exchanged insults with Jackass Army Colonel.
*Ismael, Laura, Computer Dude & Co., working their magic.
*Psycho Jaime has Berenice drugged AGAIN OMG. This dude is hell-bent on wanting to get into Los Pinos (Residence of the Mexican President) so badly.
*Cannot believe they killed off Amado.
*Colon, Korina & Co., are well intriguing characters.
*We get another appearance from Africa Zavala's character.
*There's got to be more on Manzano's backstory & why she's well CRAZY!
*I see Female TV News Anchor survived the deadly ambush attack.
*Body Count still growing.
*Aurelio disguised as a doctor sneaks into Luzma's hospital room & cried seeing her. There's a temporary reunion between father & daughter even as Isturiz is happy to see Aurelio alive & well.
*While Isturiz & Aurelio talk, Luzma suddenly flatlines... The doctors & nurses rush in trying to save her.
*I've got an awful feeling Luzma is going to die tonight based on the previews, I hope I'm wrong 🙏

peopleenespanol says "El Conde" (Fernando Colunga / Ana Brenda) and "Juego de mentiras" (Arap Bethke / Altair Jarabo / María Elisa Camargo / Eduardo Yáñez) will be shown in the second half of 2023.

Thanks, deb! Boy, this is taking a long time to get a "normal" telenovela on Telemundo.
This is not a criticism of La Reina del Sur. I enjoyed Season 3 very much.
But NBC owns Telemundo and they have some sort of arrangement with a Turkish company that produces dizis (telenovelas in Turkish). And they seem to be running at least one of these every primetime. I assume it's cheaper to pay the Turkish companies and dub them into Spanish than write, produce, and cast one in Spanish. Some of these dizis have been good and others mediocre.
Also, two quite violent novelas have run at 9PM, surprising many of us here. Those used to always run at 10PM. Both La Reina del Sur 3 and El Señor de los Cielos would, in my mind, be classified as violent ones and more appropriate for 10PM. I guess they want to maximize viewership. I guess a lot of people don't like watching things at 10PM.
Anyway, I wish El Conde were going to be on sooner.
Novelera, Deb, Carmela, Dondi356, SpanProf & Co.,:
RIP Luzma 😔
I'll have a detailed recap of last night's episode sometime today.

"new series going into production and development this year are:"
“Hasta Encontrarte”, A romantic drama starring William Levy and Samadhi Zendejas. "based on the true story of a young man who tracks the family he was separated from when very young."
“Sin Senos Si Hay Paraiso”, what? did someone say Catalina?
"Mujer de Oro,” "Dramatic thriller follows Rebecca Arismendi, a widowed millionaire, who is shocked to discover that her late husband left part of his jewelry retail company to his first wife and to her daughter with him, Beatriz.
“Blue Cage”, "Currently in production in Turkey, this is the first series to emerge from Telemundo Global Studios’ multi-year co-production agreement with Turkey’s Inter Medya". "Oğuz has lost his wife and resettled with his children in a coastal town where he saves a young amnesiac woman, Defne, who he brings into his home. But when Defne recovers her memory, she realizes that she was a con artist who must remain in hiding."

Novelera, I too was astonished when they announced that LRDS3 would be shown in the 9 pm time slot. Both Season 1 and Season 2 were shown at 10 pm, as were all umpteen preious seasons of El Señor de los Depends. As you suggest, perhaps the 10pm time slot is no longer so appealing to audiences.
And many thanks, deb, for keeping us informed about what's upcoming/in the works. I'm not a William Levy fan, nor a fan of Sin Senos, so I'll probably skip both. "Mujer de Oro" and "Blue Cage" sound like possibilities. I just hope the latter doesn't include the actor who played Miran. With or without bangs, he would be an automatic "No thanks" for me.
Deb, Novelera, Juanita, SpanProf, Dondi356, Carmela & Co.,: Here's a short recap of last night's episode.
1.) RIP Luzma Casillas: Poor girl just couldn't hold on.
2.) Aurelio, who was already devastated with the death of his mother, Dona Alba & now his youngest daughter, Luzma is dead.
3.) Of course as usual, shooting occurs between several law enforcement officers as Aurelio, Isturiz & Co., escape.
4.) The rest of the Casillas family finds out that Luzma passed away.
5.) Ritula goes off on Jackass Army Colonel, blaming him for the death of Luzma.
6.) Ismael, Laura & Co., also find out the devastating news regarding Luzma's passing.
7.) Safe to say the wife of the Hospital Doctor got whacked.
8.) Manzano disguised as a Redhead LOL. What could possibly go wrong ?
9.) DEA Dude reading files on Castillo & Colon. What does he have planned for both of them ?
10.) Carla & her TV News Crew join the rest of the Casillas family members by going to the hospital.
11.) Cabo of course, escapes from Aurelio & Co., AGAIN! This dude is too slippery, but his luck will run out sooner or later.
12.) Psycho Jaime still holding Berenice captive & drugged up 24/7.
