Falso and Dani give JuanPa the idea that Memo tried to kidnap Isa. Dani says she doesn’t think even Memo’s family knows what he is capable of. She’s terrified. Dani begs JuanPa to understand she’s only doing this to protect Isa.
It takes some doing but Sebas is finally able to spit out Falso’s plans to take Dani and Isa out of the country. Memo thinks they are just going on vacation but Sebas tells him that he heard Falso say Dani and Isa are never coming back.
Falso tries to insist to JuanPa that Memo is a criminal but Dani convinces him to leave and let her talk to her brother alone. Falso leaves and Dani tries to say Memo isn’t who they thought he was but JuanPa thinks she’s just talking about him lying about Isa from before which Dani already forgave. JuanPa tells her that he’s sure if she does this, she will regret it.
Memo is freaking out and Amparo is trying to reason through it. They believe Falso is capable of anything, surely he’s lying to Dani about his intentions. Memo says of course, this must be it!! And he takes out his phone to call Dani. Ursa overhears this of course, and starts throwing her jealous, you better not call her, fit.
Dani admits to JuanPa that she fell in love with Memo but he’s a liar and he’s lied about everything from the beginning!!
I can’t with Ursa, how can she possibly think it’s even possible Memo would never talk to Dani again?? Memo demands his phone back and Amparo tries to help so Ursa goes after her too, telling her to stay out of their fights. She tells Memo, I’M your wife!!! Memo defends Amparo but Ursa fights back by asking Amparo if she told Memo why she was late to their wedding that day… did she tell him how she humiliated her?
Dani tells JuanPa all about how Memo supposedly purposely made her fall in love with him so he could manipulate her and get her to trust him. And now, she knows he only did it to get what he wanted.
Ursa tells Memo what Amparo did and Amparo admits she did it but Karen convinced her Ursa was lying and she had a lot of doubts. Amparo apologizes again but Ursa isn’t done playing the victim.
JuanPa still thinks that Dani falling in love with Memo could be a good thing and that maybe she found her soulmate. Dani deserves a good life and true love away Falso. Dani remains convinced that Memo just played her for a fool but JuanPa doesn’t believe that Memo is a bad person. Dani admits that she admitted her love for Memo and she was willing to leave Falso for him. She tells her brother that Memo too said he would leave Ursa for Dani so they could raise Isa together. But he didn’t, JuanPa concludes, ignoring the whole pregnant Ursa element of it. Dani says if Memo’s love had been real and not a strategy, he would have confessed in that moment that he was Isa’s real father, but he didn’t; he kept lying.
Ursa is still going and Memo is still begging for his phone back. Not even when she hears the reason he wants to call is she moved. In fact, she nearly starts again upon hearing Memo saw Dani earlier at the school. Luckily, she is shut-up quickly and Amparo decides she should call Dani herself, since they are friends.
JuanPa now believes Dani (because Memo didn’t leave pregnant Ursa?) So, Dani gives him the next ‘news’ how Memo ruined the life of Isa’s birth mom too and treated her horribly. They are interrupted by Amparo’s call which Dani takes but she’s cagey about setting up a playdate for Isa and Chema and rushes off the phone saying she’ll call her later.
After Amparo relates that Dani seemed nervous and was clearly making excuses, Memo wants to storm the castle but Ursa says no way!! It’s time to call the lawyer your father found for you! Now! Before you lose your daughter, these people are playing dirty. Memo looks torn.
Grace comes home early because the ‘bruja’ Amparo closed early, she tells her mom. She informs Yo they have some sort of family problem because of Amparo’s brother. She isn’t sure what it’s about but something is going on. Yo is planning to eat tomorrow in Amparo’s restaurant, she wants to make sure Amparo knows Mac is serious about her.
Eugenio comes by the closed restaurant to apologize to Amparo for the kiss, he doesn’t want it to come between them. Amparo tells him it won’t and Eugenio wants to be very honest. He tells her he’s crazy about her and he doesn’t want to hide his feelings but he also doesn’t want to cause her problems with her family. She says he isn’t a problem for her. She never expected this to happen and she’s overwhelmed. She needs time to think things through and clarify her own feelings. Eugenio understands and says that’s fine, he doesn’t want to be a problem for her, he wants to be her solution. He kisses her on the cheek and leaves.
Sebas and JuanPa are now both home and comparing notes. JuanPa decided not to talk to Gaby until after the plane leaves because he doesn’t want to lie to her about Dani leaving. Sebas tells him in that case, I might have messed up really bad, because I told Lupita (sigh from JP), and Gaby (bigger sigh from JP), oh, and Amparo… well Memo too! LOL (I laughed so hard during this scene. Sebas did the right thing even if it puts JuanPa in a difficult position)
The lawyer is now talking to the whole family and he thinks they can still fight for Isa but they won’t be able to stop them from leaving tomorrow morning. They can’t do anything that fast because for now Dani and Falso have legal custody of Isa and every right to take her to Florida. They could however, start a legal battle for custody but it could take up to a year. Memo doesn’t have that kind of time, if they take Isa in the plane tomorrow, he’s going to lose her forever!!
Isa is looking at the stars with her new telescope and showing Dani what she’s found. She’s super excited about seeing her birth mother’s star again and she wishes she could have known her when she was alive. Dani tells her she probably got her smile and her wonderful personality from her mother and Dani is grateful for that. Dani says it’s time to get to sleep because tomorrow they have to leave early for the airport. Excited Isa thinks their vacation will be a great adventure.
The family is in a panic trying to figure out how to stop Isa from leaving. Leo tries calling Chuchita and she doesn’t answer, until she finally almost does on the third or fourth call but Falso comes and takes her phone as if she’s his daughter and she’s grounded! He tells her she’s forbidden to talk to those truckers and she can have her phone back tomorrow after they leave. Lupita suggests Gaby call JuanPa and she says she couldn’t get through to him, Ursa automatically suggests JuanPa can’t be trusted but Gaby says JuanPa has nothing to do with any of this. (Ironic that the only one who truly can’t be trusted – Ursa – is the first to throw stones)
The lawyer Ricardo is leaving and Humberto thanks him. JuanPa finally calls Gaby and Memo wants to talk to him. Memo says Falso must be lying to or pressuring Dani in some way to get her to do this, and JuanPa admits that Falso is pressuring Dani but he didn’t threaten her. Dani wants to go and is determined to protect Isa from Memo!! Memo wants to know why, but JuanPa won’t tell him. He also won’t tell him what airline they are flying out on tomorrow. He can’t betray his sister. JuanPa hangs up and Memo cries.
Isa is talking to Monoman and telling him all about leaving for vacation tomorrow. These two sweet babies are just having a fun normal conversation with no idea what life is about to throw at them. Isa tells Chema about her idea for the new mission when she returns ‘Parents in Love!’ Isa does tell Chema what time their flight leaves and that they will be in the airport two hours early.
Amparo goes looking for her phone and realizes Chema has it. Amparo comes to chide him for taking her phone without permission AGAIN, but Chema tells her that he just wanted to talk to Isa. What? You talked to Isa? What did she say? Chema laughs and viewerville is left to wonder how much info Chema imparted to momma after the scene cut.
Next morning, Dani and Isa are at the airport. Falso is there too, no doubt but luckily, I haven’t seen him yet. Memo arrives with his family, and Dani starts to pull Isa quickly away. I hear the devil’s voice demanding to know what Memo is doing there and the luck is over, he’s seen standing behind Dani. Memo says you guys can’t take my daughter!!! Memo goes down on his knees and tells Isa that he is her dad. Her real dad!!! Isa says ‘my real father?’ between tears. Dani looks alarmed and Isa stunned, the devil just wants to pull them away ignoring Isa’s pain and reaction. Dani tells him to wait, an Isa turns to ask Memo again if he’s her biological dad and he tells her he is. Memo is crying too and he reaches for Isa but Falso picks her up and carries her away. Memo begs Dani not to separate him from his daughter and Falso just screams heartlessly for Dani to come which she ultimately does. The whole family, minus Ursa, is upset. Ursa is trying to suppress her smile but she’s clearly thrilled this heartbreak has happened.
Memo is at his thinking spot with all the family telling Isa he’s going to find her. Ursa plays the comforting wife and everyone else lets Memo scream out his frustrations.
Yo is in a good mood bringing Mac breakfast in bed. She’s thrilled Mac is going to be divorced soon. She wants to get friendly in the morning but Mac wants to eat breakfast! LOL Mac’s story is now that he’s worried about losing his job since his father-in-law is upset with him. Yo thinks when they get their millions from the land, they will be set. Mac makes it to work before Humberto but Humberto tells Mac the trip is cancelled for today. Memo has a problem and Mac starts talking again about winning Amparo back. Humberto wants him to give Amparo her space but Mac is sadly optimistic.
Memo and Amparo talk about losing Isa. Memo is heartbroken and he can’t believe Dani looked at him so coldly. Amparo too thinks it was so weird. Dani is a good woman and a good mother, why would she do this? Memo says if she and her husband think they can take away my daughter they got another thing coming. I’m going to fight for my daughter and they are going to find out who Guillermo Santos is!!!
Left alone with Tio Mac, Ursa drops the act and shows just how excited she is that stupid Dani and her brat Isa are gone!!! Memo is all hers now and she doesn’t have to share him with anyone!
Amparo says she will talk to Eugenio he works with Falso and maybe he can help. Memo thinks it’s a good idea but he doesn’t want it to cause a problem between Amparo and Eugenio, Amparo is important too! Amparo admits what she feels for Eugenio is very strong and Eugenio feels the same but she’s worried about her kids. Memo says Amparo deserves to be happy and everyone is going to have to understand that sooner or later.
Leo tells Gaby and Lupita what happened with Isa at the airport and as they are all distracted with talking about how horrible Falso is, Grace comes and steals Gaby’s new tablet out of her bag. The girls are ready to leave for school when a bunch of red roses come for Amparo! Lupita looks impacted but not sure if she’s impressed or upset.
Grace hides and checks out her loot, saying Gaby doesn’t deserve it.
Humberto tries to console Memo and Memo says Ursa was right and he should have gotten a lawyer a long time ago! He’s now ready to fight with everything he has to get Isa. No matter the cost, he’ll sell his truck if he has to!! Humberto says they’ll all fight together as a family like always, Isa is a Santos and she belongs there with them! Memo looks ready to punch someone’s lights out but Humberto makes it clear they are going to do things legally and they are going to win!
Leo shows Amparo the flowers and she assumes they are from Eugenio, but she reads the card and realizes they are from Mac!! Leo wants to throw them away WITH Mac but Amparo says she’ll take care of this, once and for all. Grace is behind them and may have heard the conversation.
Memo is crying and thinking back on different moments he’s had with Isa. When she found out she was adopted and when she was in the hospital and dreamed with Memo’s mom. He asks out loud, ‘when will I see you again, daughter?’
Notes from the Couch . . . just the facts edition
JULIA STEPS CLOSER TO THE TRUTH
Misael tells Julia that if she wants a court fight he will give her one and Danny will end suffering for her decision. Julia agrees to return to Misael for the sake of her son. He tells her to be packed up and ready to go in two days but then has a change of plans. Maybe they should have a reconciliation vacation first. WHEW!!!! Fortunately, Julia's brain is finally in gear and she tells Chepina and Gina that she has no plans of returning to Misael. She only agreed to his demand to buy herself more time to find a way to fight back. She says if nothing works , she will make a run with her son. As her aunt and sister are clearly shocked, she says she would never do that because that is something Misael would do. Angela and Julia go to see a family lawyer who advises her to file for divorce and get it over ASAP. He wants all of the info about the legal situation that Misael finds himself in and evidence as to the psychological violence Misael has perpetrated against her. Angel and Julia go to Matehuala the next day and meet with the police. it turns out hat Misael has hired a very good lawyer who has raised concerns about the strength of the evidence they have against Misael. The case has been paused as the police are looking for new evidence against Misael. As of now, he cannot be found guilty of anything. Another police officer has more information for them from the DNA tests that were run and just came in yesterday. It turns out that the blood on the gauze that Julia found in the room was not stained with Misael's blood. It matched the blood of the person who was driving the truck. If Misael was not driving the truck, who was?
CELESTE PLAYS DETECTIVE
Celeste's brother Oscar comes over and she shows him the key. She wonders if it belongs to some lock at their parents' house. He goes home not see if it does. It doesn't.
CINTHIA VS ESTER
Ester jumps to the conclusion that it must have been Jero who tipped off Cinthia abut her applying for custody of Denis. She confronts him and Cinthia and tells them what happened to her application for custody. Cinthia says when she was in rehab she decided that she wanted her family to take care of her son. What was wrong with that?? Her family has as much of a right to him as Ester does. Ester tells Jero she never expected HIM to put the knife in her back. Max hears about the situation and asks Flavia if she had something to do with the application disappearing at the government office. She is insulted that he would think that of her. Max tells her not to lie. He knows her. After talking to Flavia, Jero is suspicious of her, too. Cinthia confesses everything to Jero. She relied on Flavia because she was desperate. The result was that she got a head start on custody. He gets that but it was dishonest. (REALLY???It is her SON and Ester isn't acting exactly rationally with reference to Denis) Cinthia brings her sister to meet Ester. Her sister makes it clear that once she gets custody, she, Denis and Cinthia will be moving to Querétero where her husband is from. She thinks they all should be working to support Cinthia. Ester tells Max that the only reason they are doing this is to take Denis away from her. He tells her not to blame them. He thinks that there was something shady going on with the application and that Flavia was involved. Ester says she will do whatever she has to do to keep her grandson. Jero confronts Flavia about what she did to Ester and adds that sometime in the future, he will be dissolving their association because he doesn't want to be involved with somebody so crooked and underhanded.
RAYO TO THE RESCUE?
Doris complains to Mirna that Rayo is treating her badly. When it looks like Mirna will take Doris' side, Rayo says she would hate to see Doris, who is so good at taking care of her father, having to leave because of something she wasn't supposed to hear in the first place. She adds that she is going to do all she can to take care of her family. Doris calls Sergio worried about Rayo having heard them. He doesn't see it as a problem with Rayo's reputation of having helped thieves. He has Mirna eating out of his hand. Mirna has a hard time getting through to Sergio to tell him she got the money and when she does, his attitude towards her is more annoyed at first than than what she was expecting. Rayo tells Teo she is sure Doris is up to something. He tells he to talk to her siblings. She feels that she cannot talk to Angel because he has too much on his plate. She decides to try Mirna again. Of course, Doris is right there to listen in. Thinking of talking to Rayo makes Mirna need to take a pill, she is shaking so badly. Doris says that Rayo has a real knack for upsetting everything. Rayo tells Mirna that Doris was saying terrible things about her behind her back on the phone to somebody. Doris says that Rayo hates her. Rayo tells her to shut up. Mirna seems to want to believe Doris even when Rayo says she knows all about the money. Mirna no longer looks so certain. She tries to contact Sergio again. He isn't answering.
ANA SOFI INTHE DRIVER'S SEAT?
Mirna comes asking Ana Sofí for money. She agrees to give it to her but much to Mirna's displeasure, she tells her she is going to have to her sign an IOU. Braulio complains to Ana Sofí about auditors not allowing him or his people to do their jobs with so many requests on their part. She does not see what the big deal is unless he is nervous about something strange that the auditors might find. She says they will talk after the audit. Braulio mentions a new partner in the wings. Ana Sofí has no idea who he is talking about. She looks perturbed. Braulio says Angel knows all about him. Ana Sofí tells Misael that once he has moved out of town with Julia and his kid to let Julia know that she is back with Angel in spite of the romance Julia had with him.
EVERYTHING ELSE
Ebe gves Gina the same advice about going to college that Erik gave her.
Misael has successfully turned Danny against his mother. He refuses to talk to Julia on the phone until they are a family again.
Celeste wants to cancel her neurologist appointment for the next day because she is feeling so good. Braulio disagrees and says he will go with her.
Please feel free to add anything I left out.
Darcy, there was a thread of unbearable sadness interwoven into the fabric of tonight’s story. You revealed all of the powerful emotions sensitively and sensationally. Lies, deception, betrayal and doubt were evident throughout and yet you made us feel all is far from being lost.
Memo kneeling and telling his adored Isabela he is her father released a flood of emotions, culminating in Isabela’s tears of surprise but utter happiness. Daniela’s expressions reflecting her inner turmoil; wanting to share their joyous news versus revulsion at what she believes Memo did to Olivia. Her mind was racing, her heart, strangely quiet.
The Santos family embodies the cry all for one and one for all. That is except Ursula of course. And while Memo didn’t get to “storm the castle”, his family effectively did so, flooding into the airport behind Memo. A heartfelt show of support. Steadfast Sebastian and JuanPa proved they are valiant and true wanting to do the right thing and supporting those they love.
Eugenio’s second kiss was soft and sweet. Amparo has many emotions to shed (along with her 180 pound loser) before she can fully invest in Eugenio and their future. But it was a good start.
My favorite scene was Isabela and Chema talking as Isa’s starry night light provided the moon and stars, what every young girl should see as they prepare to sleep and dream happily.
I take heart in that I suspect Isabela and Daniela will not be away long. How all this heartache will be resolved, I’ve no idea but the dark clouds can linger for only so long. I will take heart.
Darcy, this was excellent. Thank you.
Diana
Jarifa, another pivotal episode to which you gave your (always) masterful justice.
The revelation that Misael was not driving the bus was shocking and adds more turbulence to this troubled story. That narrows the field down considerably, doesn’t it? ☹
Flavia, who has blustered and bullied her way through all of this has finally embroiled herself in the wrong fight. She took advantage of Cinthia’s desperation to try and get closer to Jero. I can’t fault Cinthia as Ester hasn’t exactly played fair has she? Now Flavia will lose Jero’s partnership and support. “…he will be dissolving their association because he doesn't want to be involved with somebody so crooked and underhanded” was music to my ears!
Ana Sofi seemed to be fairly intelligent at first. She has hired Julia’s husband to “lure” her back so Angel will return to her. Does she really think this deluded plan will work??
Mirna has treated Rayo despicably. Yet, Rayo tries to help Mirna, practically delivering Doris to her on a silver platter but she turns a deaf ear. Bring on the swindle! Oh, and I keep thinking the night Mirna spent with Sergio may have consequences but perhaps I’m reading too much into it.
I like Gina and Ebe together. I was so excited to have Erik in this installment and am disappointed his rather brief storyline had a fairly abrupt end.
So, I’m yelling “uncle”. I have no idea what that damn key Celeste is constantly waving around fits.
Jarifa, this was fabulous. Thank you, thank you!
Diana
Does Gwero know Ester didn't even try looking for Sinthia? It annoys me that he talks about what Sin did being dishonest when Ester played dirty too. The woman wants to call the kid Ivan for God's sake! I cannot see these two together. There's just something in the way these characters are written that makes me wonder why someone thought it was a good idea to pair them up. Ana S's stupidity is irritating. How on earth Misael getting back with Julia would mean Angel would get back with her? I mean, there are so many other women or does she think they all died out? Or is she planning to stalk him and chase away any females? For a woman who is now in charge of her father's business, she is way too delusional. She is as dumb as Mirna. Why is she so fixated on Angel anyway? Is it just a case of he dumped me and I'm not letting that happen?
Thanks, Darcy, that was great. Not much good in this episode. I couldn’t stand Ursula smiling like she did when everyone was so upset. I was so hoping one of the family would notice her!
Grace seems to take after her father. Maybe her mother too. I bet JuanPa will get mad at Gaby for not taking care of the laptop. I can see him breaking away from the family because he’s listening to Dani. So Grace may get him for a little while.
I was surprised, but glad, that Memo told Isa he was her dad. I hope she makes her parents miserable! Does Dani know Fausto isn’t staying in Florida with them. He’s setting them up for a lonely life while he can do whatever he wants.
At least we had Amparo and Eugenio happy. And I think Sebas will be loyal to Lupita and her family!
Anxious to see what happens tonight!
Liz
Diana, the novela sure is getting revved for an exciting last couple of weeks! So, who was driving? I suspect we would agree on the limited field of suspects to one. So, will Mirna finally accept Rayo when she somehow saves her from that dastardly Sergio? That is my prediction but who knows. I was surprised how off-putting Sergio was with Mirna. At least you could see the one wheel she had in her head starting to turn a couple of times last night. Also, how enjoyable was it seeing Ana Sofí blindsided by Braulio of all people about another partner? As for the key? The mystery continues. I cannot wait until tonight.
Waterlily, I am right there with you with Jero telling Cinthia that she was dishonest when Ester has repeatedly done the same. I do not care if Cinthia is an addict. Denis is her son and she should have a say in who gets custody of him if she is not able to care for him and not his paternal grandmother who needs psychological care herself. Nobody seems to want to address that. If Cinthia is unfit as a mother, then Ester is right up there with her.
They also seem to be setting up Cinthia for a relapse since everyone keeps talking about that possibility.
Well, that is it for now, it is only 2 degrees out there but the sun is beckoning. I am out of here!
Thanks, Jarifa, your notes were everything I needed!
It doesn’t sound like Mirna has sent the last of the money to Sergio, what she was getting from AnaSofia. And I suspect Doris may have fled. But those scenes showed Rayo has a good heart. Maybe Mirna will soften towards her.
Could the mysterious key be to a safety deposit box. That was my first though.
So glad Jero is going to end his partnership with Flavia. But Ester is just a little better. She was sneaky and underhanded too. But I guess her motives were for Denis’s good. I still wonder what Jero sees in her. Maybe being the one to find Ivan and have to tell her has given him empathy towards her.
If AnaSofi is the new partner wouldn’t she have to approve another partner. She may not be too bright in the love department but she seems to be able to handle the business.
I’m happy to read that Julia doesn’t plan to return to Misael. I hope she doesn’t give in. Danny is so horrible now, if he spends much more time with his father all his sweetness will be lost.
I get too involved in these telenovelas. I looked up Misael to see if I’d seen him in anything else and saw he was married to Susana Gonzalez. My first thought was how could she love that man. I really can’t picture them as a couple! I need to tell myself he’s just a really good actor, and maybe the chest hair is I wig!!
Liz
Darcy, you took on quite a bit last night, and you did it spendidly! Thank you! This "JuanPa now believes Dani (because Memo didn’t leave pregnant Ursa?)" I smiled at because I had the same reaction! Both Dani and JP seem to have forgotten that little detail.
Wow, I didn't think Memo would reveal the truth in such a way! But I can understand his desperation which Soto has been portraying exceptionally well (if he'd just drop the scratching/rubbing and comb his hair, it would have been perfect! LOL). And Susana is not far behind...I can't word it any better than Diana, "Daniela’s expressions reflecting her inner turmoil; wanting to share their joyous news versus revulsion at what she believes Memo did to Olivia. Her mind was racing, her heart, strangely quiet." Superbly done!
Liz, "At least we had Amparo and Eugenio happy." Yay! Some brightness amidst all the turmoil! But I was distracted by the age difference. Humberto looks much younger than Eugenio, so could Eugenio be old enough to be Amparo's dad? I know age doesn't matter...but still, a distraction :-)
Grace keeps reminding me of something from outerspace. I do hope JP thought to put a tracking device/app on that pad!
Liz, you reminded me that one of the comments I'd wanted to make was on the opening scene. The way Misael bent toward Julia was so menacing, he was actually frightening. He is inhabiting the character all too well. Marcos Montero must surely be a kind and loving man in real life, totally different from his onscreen persona. He'd have to be to be married to Susana! But he is an excellent villain (which the chest hair definitely adds to)!
I really liked your comment on Ester: "I still wonder what Jero sees in her. Maybe being the one to find Ivan and have to tell her has given him empathy towards her". Yes. He likes her more than I do certainly...:(
Diana
The song played during the Isabela/Memo scenes is No Sabía Que Existías. It was written and sung by José Cantoral specifically for this TN!
I remember someone was asking about it and I too was looking for it...and I just found it recently. The entire song, with lyrics, can be heard here (copy and paste the link to your address bar):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNTFnTooDWI
The comments on Grace today have been stellar.
"Grace seems to take after her father. Maybe her mother too" had me nodding grimly Liz. Spot on!
"Grace keeps reminding me of something from outerspace" had me laughing Rgv Chick. Oh my, she really does 😊.
"I do hope JP thought to put a tracking device/app on that pad!" never occurred to me. You think of everything!
Diana
Jarifa, thank you for another excellent report on all the skulduggery and dirty dea!ings.
Hmmmm.....if Miserable wasn't driving , who was ???.Margarita ? Braulio?
And the mystery key is still a mystery . I , too, have a lot of keys that I have no idea where they are from and what they unlock ....but still afraid to throw them away .Has Braulio also forgotten about these random keys ?
I am surprised that Flavia's meddling with Esther's custody appeal was revealed so quick!y . I didn't realize that it was an advantage to have the " headstart" on a custody application . Really ? First up, best dressed ????
Meanwhile...petulant Anacandy continues her slow and steady campaign to get that great catch Angel back while Braulio fumes that she is getting in the way of hos path to power .
Excellent recap, Darcy. I was on the edge of my seat reading your recap. You made it all so vivid. I could look again and again at the scene with Sebas listing to JP everybody he spilled the beans to. So funny.
Memo finally telling Isa that he’s her father, in front of everybody at the airport, was so moving.
I’m having a hard time looking at Dani. She’s screwing up so badly.
Leo, rightfully, hates Macario so much. I'm wondering if he knows more about Mac than the rest of the family.
Rgv Chick, thank you so much for posting Jose Cantoral's beautiful song. Music is just what is needed to bolster spirits on this frigid day (tomorrow's forecast (without windchill) is -10)...
I also just watched a video accompanying Luis Angel's theme song which I just adore...
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa. Awesome storytelling.
Love seeing the walls closing in on Braulio.
Doris is so smug and rude to Rayo, in Rayo's own home! I need to see somebody slap the crap out of Doris.
Chest hair. It's not the hair, it's how you use it. One of the best looking men that ever lived -- Sean Connery, aka James Bond -- had lots of chest hair. It's funny how Misael's chest hair has taken on a life of its own to signify the man's evil! ;>
Gracias, Diana. You gave us all the angst in this episode.
I found it almost impossible to believe that all the other people in the airport seemed oblivious to Fausto's abusive manner. His demands of Daniela were the equivalent of cracking a whip at a gentle mare. Note that Isabella was also afraid.
I don't see Grace being able to get JuanPa for even a single date. She has a bad attitude and no self-respect. He will come to his senses probably before anyone else. What I do see happening is Grace breaking with reality and boasting (lying) about JuanPa being her novio.
Just how do Mac and Yo think they can get their hands on Amparo's property once she files for divorce? Seriously delusional.
I don't know how the truth can be exposed but I think Memo needs a PI ASAP.
Darcy, thank you for every detail .
I've seen Grace and Yolanda online , and these two and Ursula are so outlandishly campy. Does Grace get up every morning and say , " I need a look that will attract a straight laced , immaculately dressed frat boy ! "...And then she adds some more eye shadow and a couple more ribbons . " That should do it . " I wonder if Grace will be redeemed at the end and get a makeover ( tone down) from her half sisters .
More thanks, Jarifa.
I worry still about Rayo. I don't think that Mirna will change her attitude about her and Doris knows how to hit where it hurts so she is still in danger.
I'm glad Celeste has a brother who will fight for her and that Jeronimo has Flavia's number.
With only a dozen episodes left I don't know whether we will meet Cinthia's parents but I don't get a good vibe from her sister.
More later; off to take a hot bath. It's freezing in NYC.
Liz, yes, the key did seem to be long enough and different enough to belong to a safe deposit box. Wouldn't it be a hoot if it was to a box that contains all of Sergio's fortune? As for Jero being attracted to Ester, I still do not see a reason for it either. Maybe he has the hots for her. : ) I cannot think of anything else. As for getting involved in novelas, I do the same thing. It is always interesting to see who has ended up with who. Take a look-see at photos of Marcos Montero online and you will readily see the answer to your question.
Susanlynn, I have never thought custody cases moved at the speed of light with a first-come first-served mentality. That being said, I am happy that Ester may have been cut out of the process by Cinthia's sister.
Niecie, I have never been turned off by a well-deserved physical response in a drama so ITA with: Doris is so smug and rude to Rayo, in Rayo's own home! I need to see somebody slap the crap out of Doris. I did enjoy Ray telling her to shut up. Too bad that Rayo didn't strategize more and get Mirna alone when she spoke to her. I see forgetting that she is only fifteen.
Urban, all we know about Cinthia's family is from Cinthia. When Cinthia's father found out about her first experience with drugs, she got a really bad beating. So, it might be better that her sister has filed for custody but who knows?
Actually, Esther once got a text (I think from them) that Cinthia was no longer welcome in their home because of her addiction. This is not an unusual response.
Did Doris bolt or is she waiting until Mirna is bankrupted?
As for Ana Sofi, she is too in love with herself, thinking that she can have anything -- or any man. She is oblivious to her own toxicity. She is the female equivalent of Misael for purposes of this story.
Stay warm and well, all.
Thanks all! I have been super busy at work but have enjoyed reading all your comments!
I was shocked by Memo's declaring the truth too, but I understood his desperation. And while I still don't agree with Humberto's whole stance of wanting to take Isa from Dani because she 'belongs there with the Santos' it was kind of nice to see Memo's steely resolve form. Not that I want to see him and Dani fight of course, but he's going to need some backbone to go to war with Falso, and we haven't seen that yet! Up to this point, Memo's just a soft puddle of mush and everyone pushes and pulls at him at will. He needs to fight - for Isa and for Dani - and get everyone out of Falso's clutches.
Interesting comment about the age difference Rgv Chick, I hadn't really thought about it but that is a good point! I wonder if Eugenio is older than Humberto...
Well we've definitely built up the suspense and the drama this week!! I can't wait to see what happens tonight!
Rgv Chick, I didn’t think about an age difference between Amparo and Eugenio. I guess because her older girls are close in age to Sebastian. But she definitely looks younger. He might be old enough to be her father!
A tracking device would be a great way to catch Grace. But these telenovela’s never do the sensible things! They make us wait it out!
Jarifa, the first time I looked up Marcos Montero there was a picture of him in a suit. I did some more searching and it’s his! I like him better with his shirt buttoned. It seems to make Misael so evil. And I usually am a fan of chest hair.
After visits to the psychologist and the instructions to wait I was shocked when Memo blurted it out. But that was one of the most touching scenes. Not sure how an actor can put love in his eyes, but he sure did.
Liz
A confident and grinning Mac approaches Amparo saying good morning, beautiful! She is not impressed and asks what is up with this (the flowers). He tells her that they're roses, red roses…as he puts one in his mouth (if only they still had their thorns!). Amparo doesn’t understand why he is sending her flowers when he is already with another woman! What is he up to? In the background, Grace watches, with piercing eyes.
Ursula struts in and when she sees Memo wiping away his crocodile tears, she consoles him telling him that it hurts her to see him crying. After she reminds him, that he has her, Memo tells her that he is desperate, he can’t stop thinking about his daughter. He couldn’t explain anything to her. Maybe it wasn’t right to tell her the truth; she’s probably worried and confused. Ursula comments that Dani is probably filling Isabela’s head with all kinds of lies against him. She insists that he shouldn’t have gotten involved with her. Memo worries how long it will be before he sees Isabela. Ursula reminds him that she has his baby in her womb and he will be able to a good father to him. As Memo lays his head on her lap to cry, and she console shim, Cesar appears and warns Ursula not to be making plans. They made a deal; when the baby is born, he will take it! Ursula covers her mouth to keep from sobbing.(Super glue would be better :-)
At the restaurant, Mac tries to make Amparo listen to him. He lied to her. But Amparo demands that he stop being so cynical. He is to leave the truckstop today! She wants a divorce! When he mentions that she was going to go talk to him, she admits that she was, but she changed her mind because she doesn’t need anything more. She wants to divorce him! As Mac pleads and tells her that he loves her, Yolanda walks in. Grace tries to stop her, but Yolanda insists, she's going in. After Mac tells Amparo that there is no other woman that exists for him, Amparo scoffs and replies that if there is no other woman, then she must be seeing a ghost! After Yolanda greets Amparo and tells her that it’s been a long time since they see each other, Amparo tells Mac to go ahead and give Yolanda the roses. She then insists that he needs to leave the truckstop today! She will talk to her father’s lawyer, who is a friend, so that the divorce proceedings can be initiated. The rat looks like he ate a rat!
Sebastian is presenting the stages of his project to his father. When Eugene asks if he has considered using local businesses, Sebastian replies, obvio! Eugene expresses how proud he is of Sebastian; and Sebas looks like he could do a happy dance!
Gabi is talking to JP on the phone and telling him how difficult it was to understand anything in her class, but the worst thing is that someone stole her tablet. Rhen she comments that nothing compares to what her uncle is going through. JP understands because he is sad too that his sister and his niece have left. Gaby suggests that she will go see him so that they can give each other many hugs, and that will make them feel better. When he comments that none of his family will be at his tournament the day after tomorrow, she assures him that she and her family Will be there. He needs to remember that he now has that family too.
Mac blames Yolanda for Amparo asking him for a divorce. Her plan to make him jealous was worthless. And now he won’t be able to take the land. Yolanda insists that it was time that she show her face and let everything fall where it may. Yolanda suggests that if Amparo is going to talk to a lawyer, then they need to talk to a lawyer too so that Mac can get what he Should be entitled to. Mac should go ahead and pack his things. Amparo has run him off and now she’s very happy. Mac tells her to go ahead and pack his things because he needs a beer!
Amparo calls Eugenio and tells him that she needs a favor. When he tells her that he’s always willing to help her, she tells him that the favor is not for her, it’s a family issue...it involves Memo. She doesn’t want to give any more details over the phone, so Eugenio invites her out to dinner so that they can talk. Amparo agrees.
Memo prays to his grandmother and the virgin that they take care of his daughter now that she is far away from him. Afterwards, he sits with Amparo, Leo and Humberto. Amparo tells them that she has asked Mac for a divorce. Leo congratulate her, Memo asks if she is sure, and Humberto assures that she has their support. She asks that they be very discreet around the children, and they need not worry about her, because she is strong. When Amparo tells them that she’s going to meet with Eugene and ask him where the store might have taken Isabela, Memo states that he is going to go look for his daughter. As he mulls it over, Daniela and Isabela walk in. Humberto tells Memo to turn around, and when he does, Memo is surprised and ecstatic to see Isabela standing there.
Outside, Mac tells Ursula that Amparo has ran him off. When he sees that Ursula is upset, she admits that she thinks that the same thing that happened to her mother is happening to her. Cesar doesn’t leave her alone; he appears at any moment to torment her. And the worst thing is that he is going to take her baby! Mac comments that is the way her mother started. Ursula, pleads for his help.
Inside the restaurant, Dani tells Memo that she doesn’t know if she’s doing the right thing, but her daughter asked her to bring her to talk to him. She couldn’t take her daughter away in the midst of all this confusion, with so many doubts in her head, and her heart broken after what he dared to tell her at the airport! Memo tries to explain that he was desperate, but Dani doesn’t want to hear it. It is her daughter that needs to talk to him. Memo kneels to face Isabela and tells her that he also wants to talk to her.
Outside, Ursula is desperate and doesn’t know what to do. She wants to go talk to someone about it, but Mac tells her that they will lock her up in a loony bin. When she suggests that they will give her medication, he warns that the medication is too strong, and it will affect the baby. He tells her to get distracted, think of other things, and give it time. After he comments that she is exactly like her mother, Ursula threatens that if Memo were to betray her with another woman, what her mother did is nothing compared to what she would do to him! Mac warns her not to talk to anybody about her hallucinations. He’s leaving the truckstop, but he will keep an eye on her. Before leaving, Mac asks that when she sees Cesar, she should give him his regards.
Inside the restaurant, Isabela asks Memo if he really is her father. After he confirms it, she yells why did you lie to me? Why didn’t you tell me before?
At the company, Aaron is large and in charge or at least he thinks he is. But Fausto soon walks in, orders Sebastian out, and Aaron out of his chair. When Aaron comments that he thought he would be on his flight, Fausto spews that stupid Dani insisted on not traveling.
At the restaurant, Isabela tells Memo that he told her he would help her find her father, but he didn’t tell her that he was her father. She then turns to Dani and asks why she didn’t tell her that Memo is her father. Memo takes the blame and tells her that he was the one who didn’t tell anyone…it was a very difficult situation for everyone. He continues that it is a very long story that he needs to tell her. He knows she is confused and she can ask whatever she wants. Isabela asks if you are my father, why did you give me up for adoption?!
Fausto tells Aaron that they were about to board the plane when the little bastard started to cry. She was crying because stupid Memo arrived at the airport and started to yell that Isabela is his daughter!
At the restaurant, Isabela again asks why mammal gave her up for adoption. Memo replies that he has a letter from her mother that explains everything. Isabela asks if he will read it to her. Memo says of course, but they can go to his room, where they can talk calmly.
Aaron warns Fausto, that if Dani spills everything she was told at the prison to Memo, everything will fall apart. Fausto doesn’t care because he has all the (falso) "evidence." Aaron then suggests that it would benefit Fausto if Dani and Memo did have an affair. Fausto could get pictures and other proof...he can threaten to take Isa away and he would have Dani in his hands.
In Memo's apartment, Memo tells Isabela that her mother's name is Olivia...and she was always affectionate. very happy and sweet, just like Isabela. Isabella asks how they met; so Memo explains that they met in a small town nearby. They did fall in love with time until Olivia agreed to go along with him in his truck, and they traveled together. When Isabela asks if they fell in love, Memo explains that he and Olivia were novios for sometime, but destiny separated them. The problem was that Olivia never told him that she was pregnant. When Isabela asks why her mother didn’t tell him, Memo doesn’t know, but explains that her mother must have had her reasons. When Isabela asks why her mother gave her up for adoption, Memo gently caresses her face …and Dani silently wonders what is happening? Memo can’t be the same man Zulema (the cell mate) told her about.
Yo and Grace arrive home lugging the boxes with Mac's things. Grace complains about Mac living there so Yo tells her that she should be happy that her father is finally going to live with them. Grace retorts that should have happened when she was 5 years old! Yo tells her to stop being so harsh., but Grace point out that she shouldn't be so happy; Mac is only coming to live there because Amparo ran him off...he didn't do it for her! Yo sees the tablet Grace stole, but Grace tells her that she bought it used.
Memo assures Isabela that her mother loved her very much. When Isabela asks why her mother didn’t want to take care of her;\, Memo explains that. Her mother discovered that she had a very serious illness; and she didn’t have the strength or the health to take care of her. He then reads the letter to her ending with Olivia asking him to look for his daughter, protect her, and love her because his daughter needs him. Dani tells Isabela that what her mother did was a sacrifice of love that was not easy to do. Memo agrees, and adds that her biological mother left her with a family that would love her very much and give her everything that she needed. And now that he has found her, she has him and all his family who will love her very much. Isabela tells him that she also loves him very much too. Danny watches as Memo hugs his daughter tightly as they shed tears of joy.
Dani goes outside by herself saying that Memo is a very good liar; she cannot fall into his trap! Just then Ursula approaches and wonders what she’s doing there since she was going away. Dani replies that things changed when Isabela found out that Memo is her father. Ursula thinks it’s very convenient for Dani because it will give her the perfect reason to continue seeing Memo. Dani assures her that if she could, she would take Memo out of her life and Isabela‘s life too. Memo then brings Isabela out, and Ursula puts on her little full of sweet bull act, telling Isabela that she’s glad to know that she didn’t leave. When Memo asks Ursula to take Isabela into the restaurant so he can talk to Dan1, Ursula surprisingly agrees.
Ursula takes Isabela inside where Amparo smiles and Humberto asks how she feels about the talk she had with her father. Isabela replies that Memo explained everything and she now understands why her mother gave her up for adoption....she did it because she loved her. Leo introduces himself as her uncle and the other as her relatives. Chema then comes and is excited to see Isabel. Isabela tells him that Memo is her real father...they are happy that they fulfilled their mission...but Isa still feel somewhat odd. They then dance that they are cousins! Meanwhile, a scowling Mac sits alone.
Once alone, Memo thanks Dani for allowing him to talk to Isabela who is now calmer. Dani coldly agrees that Isabela is calmer, nut only because that is the effect that his lies have! Memo looks confused about her comment, so Dani demands that he not even dare to pretend with her! Although nothing that he has said is true, she prefers the version he invented for her daughter her daughter who will now have a nice memory of her mother and will know nothing of what actually happened. Memo is still confused and has no idea what Dani is talking about. Dani tells him that she knows everything and she will not allow him to hurt her daughter! She tells him that he is not to get close to Isabela unless he has her permission or Fausto’s permission. And he better not try to pull a fast one on them. Memory retorts that they were the ones who tried to pull a fast one; they wanted to take Isa out of the country to get her away from him...when she told him that they were only going to away for a few days. When she says that he is a liar, Memo counters that SHE is the liar! How could she do something like that!?
Inside the restaurant, Lupita is explaining to Chema how Memo found out that Isa is his daughter. As they all clap, party pooper Mac interrupts because he has announcement to make. Violins start playing as he pouts and tells them that this woman (Amparo) who has always claimed to have a untied family, as if he was a mangy dog (but he is!) ran him off from the truck stop. So he is forced today to leave this place he loves so much where they live...the woman asked him for a divorce. Amparo finally gets up and tells him to stop playing the victim as he always does! She will not allow! The reason for her asking for a divorce is so strong that she can't even say it. She tells Mac that he better leave before she spills all the beans!
Back with Dani and Memo, Dani argues that neither she nor Fausto did anything illegal. They are Isabela’s parents and they don’t need his permission to go out of the country. Memo thinks that Fausto had threatened her to make her leave. He never thought there was so much evil in her heart. And now he realizes that she is exactly like her husband! Dani insists that she now knows who he is...He is trash! Memo argues that he is the one who doesn’t know her; he asks who are you? Dani warns that he'd better watch what he says from now on because she is capable of anything in order to protect her daughter! Memo scowls that he is Isabela‘s father; she has his blood! And he will do the impossible so that they will never take her away from him… And he will get a lawyer to fight for her . If he had allowed Isabela to stay with them before, now he won’t. Isabela is a Santos and he will fight for her! Dani is glad...she’s glad that Memo is showing his true colors. He will never get what he wants; he will never be able to take her daughter away from her … Never!
Amparo talks to her children explaining that she wanted to talk to them about this decision, but their father got ahead. When Chema cries that he doesn't want them to divorce and promises to behave, Amparo tells him that they are not to blame for what is happening, She assures him that even though she and their father won't be together, they will always love him. She then takes him to his room so they can continue talking and she can hug him tightly. Gabi reaches out to Lupita and asks if she is okay. Lupita tells her that this hurts her but they knew this would happen. She knows that her mother is strong and she must have her reasons. When Lupita adds that she now knows that love is not forever, Gabi tells her that she is wrong. There is forever love just like the love they feel for each other...and just because their parents couldn't achieve it, it doesn't mean that they can't. Lupita agrees and thinks that if she is going to be a good lawyer, then she needs to accept life as it is.
Dani has arrived home and is raked over the coals for taking Isa to see Memo...she can't be doing this behind Fausto's back! Dani argues that Isa loves Memo and that is why Isa was crying...because she found out that Memo is her father and thought she would never see him again. Even though they consider Memo as the worst person on earth, they cannot change the fact that he is Isa's father!
Gabi is watching a sleeping Chema when Lupita comes in confirming that their mother has left (with Eugenio). She asks to lay down with them while they wait for JP and Sebas.
Back with Dani, Fausto berates Memo for yelling out that Isa is his daughter, but Dani is glad that the truth is finally out! It was very hard to keep that secret from her daughter. She then tells Fausto that talking to Memo did Isa good because she is now calmer with all the answers Memo provided. She pleads that they think of Isa and do what is best for her. Fausto suspiciously agrees...and wants to go see his daughter.
In her room. Isa is thanking her mother Olivia for asking Memo to look for her; she is very happy to have found her father. Enter Satan who asks her how she feels about her talk with Memo. Isa feels fine and knows that Memo loves her very much. Isa then asks if it she can call Memo "papa." Fausto gulps in some bile and puts on his grinchy grin.
FIN
Rgv Chick, outside, the temperatures have plummeted to record lows, the wind howling mercilessly. Inside, your searingly hot, wise words have vanquished the cold and warmed the heart. Outstanding, every word!
You brandished your sharp wit right out of the gate. “Ursula covers her mouth to keep from sobbing.(Super glue would be better :-)” had me laughing in delight. And the roses, “…as he puts one in his mouth (if only they still had their thorns!)” was another burst of warmth from the roaring fire. Also “Grace watches, with piercing eyes” was a perfect descriptor.
Memo’s gentle conversation with Isabela was so sweet. He was so careful but so loving. Conversely, it was hard watching Memo and Daniela cut each other with their hurtful words. Fausto’s lies tightening their grip on Daniela’s heart as she burned with righteous indignation and outrage. Memo confused at the stranger before him but not realizing her mind and heart were poisoned against him.
“Dani silently wonders what is happening? Memo can’t be the same man Zulema (the cell mate) told her about”. Yes, yes! Why did she not hold onto that? Why did she not unburden her heart so she could learn the real truth?
Amparo and Macario’s “love” story is finally coming to its inevitable conclusion. I shook my head at him telling Yolanda to pack for him and Yolanda and Grace unpacking for him. Yolanda, sometimes, you need to be careful what you wish for. I feel for Gabriela, Lupita and Chema and it was good to see them united and supporting each other. Sadly, children are always the ones that suffer the most and are the real casualties of divorce.
Macario continues his bizarre relationship with his niece by asking “…when she sees Cesar, she should give him his regards”. We learned a bit more about Ursula’s family history when we heard “If Memo were to betray her with another woman, what her mother did is nothing compared to what she would do to him!” I shudder to think of what her mother did!
Sebastian is really growing up and it was so good to see him gaining Eugenio’s approval.
Finally, “Isa then asks if it she can call Memo "papa." Fausto gulps in some bile and puts on his grinchy grin. Perfect!
Thank you Rgv Chick. This was a marvel.
Diana
Gracias, RGV Chick, for this excellent recap and your biting humor. I agree with all of Diana's comments.
We're probably entering the doldrums with our main couple at each other's throats and the two small children about to suffer more. Here is hoping that Amparo and Eugenio can save the day. He might have a serious light-bulb moment about Fausto and be happy that his own daughter isn't married to him.
Since Daniela has heard previous rants driven by Fausto's class prejudices it was almost inevitable that he would think up a scheme like this to throw this kind of shade on Memo and his family. He may envy the love and loyalty in the Santos family but can't admit that to himself. He may also have no idea what this is like and regard it as evidence of weakness but not want to know that he himself is the weakest of all in this tale. His tantrums in the office can't be looking good to anyone there, but only Eugenio can really do anything about it.
Didn't previously mention this but his taking away Jesusa's phone before the aborted departure is certifiably abusive. So would be any attempt to destroy her relationship with Leo.
I have no doubt that Macario is related to Ursula or he would not have known details of her mother's mental illness to the degree he does. I also think he is the only one who knows this. As for what her mother did, she murdered her cheating husband. IIRC she stabbed him several times then burned him alive.
Macario had some nerve raining on the family's parade. Leo looked ready to strangle him.

Dear Chickie,,thank you for another wonderful report as the plot thickens .
Ursula seems to be going around the bend , and her tio isn't doing anything to help her .
Mac seems incredulous that Ampara can resist his charms (?) Since Yoyo appears to think he is Mr. Wonderful (Why?)
The lying liar who lies has now caused Memo and Dani to believe the worst about each other . ...and so it goes .
I watched some behind the scenes videos of the cast . They seem to get along and have fun together , and these people can all DANCE . Susana Gonzales was on a dance completion show years ago .I think it was Called " Baila por la Boda de Tu Vida ." In fact , I think that she won. It might be on YouTube . I think that Angelique Boyer was on that same show. She is another fantastic dancer. I love to dance , and I love to watch people dance .
Thank you Rgv Chick! Your recap had me laughing away!! I agree with Diana, your wit shinned brightly throughout the retelling of this frustrating episode! I too loved 'if only they still had their thorns' and 'superglue would be better'!
So Yo and Amparo knew each other from years back? They must have since Amparo recognized her at the restaurant. I wonder if she'll put together how Mac's has been cheating on her the whole time, but then again I don't think she cares anymore! I loved Leo's reaction when Amparo said she was getting a divorce!! LOL He was just like 'thank God!'
Isa looked so vulnerable and yet hopeful when she first entered the restaurant. That was a fantastic job by the young actress!! She looked so shy and timid it was adorable! And Memo and Isa together was so sweet as always! I am glad Dani brought her back right away, I was expecting to have to endure various episodes of them being gone and Memo desperately searching.
I guess we'll have to endure Dani and Memo fighting instead! blah
Hearing Satan calling Dani stupid and Isa a bastard is chilling!!! And his abrupt 180 is scary too...wonder what is up his sleeve this time? Or did Aaron somehow convince him that having Dani have an affair would be to his benefit?
I would enjoy watching Ursa lose it!! LOL But I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.
Thanks, Rgv Chick, you recap was a fun read! The episode was not so much fun! I did enjoy Mac getting tossed out but hated how he had to make the “poor me” announcement to everyone when they were so happy.
So Yolanda and Amparo knew each other. That really surprised me. And I wonder if Grace saying it should have happened (her dad living with them) when she was five has any significance. We know they’ve been having an affair for 16 years, I hope we get the back story to that.
Memo was great when he talked to Isa. I wish he had shown her the picture. How can Dani doubt him. Does she not realize how Fausto talks to her. Just that would make me believe Memo over Fausto.
Fausto really has no love for Isa. I can’t imagine bringing a baby home and not loving her. I wonder if he loved her when he thought she was his, or was she always just a way to get his inheritance. I’m worried about what he’s going to say to Isa next. I was worried when he started up to her room. I was hoping Dani would go with him.
So Ursula would do worse than her mother did to her husband. A scary thought.
Thanks for the ages of the cast, Urban Anthropologist. Eugenio and Humberto are about the same age. Old enough ro be Amparo’s dads! What first struck me is Susana Gonzales is about 15 years older than her real life husband.
Liz
Rgv Chick, fantastic recap. I haven't seen the episode yet, but its jam-packed action comes alive with your storytelling. So many great, biting lines already mentioned, but here are two more I loved, at Macario's expense:
"He [Macario] tells her that they're roses, red roses…as he puts one in his mouth (if only they still had their thorns!)."
"The rat looks like he ate a rat!"
Dani is between a rock and a hard place and sure needs help to think things through.
I have nothing but questions about the real and fake stories of Olivia. Why would Fausto set up Olivia to be imprisoned? How is it that Olivia wound up the novia of both Memo and Fausto around the same time? My beanie is about to snap.
Yay! Amparo is moving for a fast divorce. I don't want her to be legally liable for Mac's debts.
Amparo has no responsibility for Macario's personal debts and I am sure she didn't put his name on any deed to the land or the restaurant. Filing for divorce right now is also about protecting these assets.
We don't see too much around it but Fausto had the ides that acquiring it would be a coup. I don't see how because how far away is the nearest city or large town? Even if this would work to build toward it it would take years to lay down the necessary infrastructures for this to be viable.
Fausto did believe that Isabella was his when she was born. The DNA test he got came back negative. We don't know ow if he felt anything for her when he thought she was his but he resents the hell out her now. She is only a means to an end to him.
Notes from the couch the whole banana edition
JERO: "Desperation is a bad advisor. It can lead us to do things that we never thought we were capable of."
1. Back in Matehuala, Julia asks what would there be for Misael to gain by taking the fault for an accident he didn't cause??? It is illogical. The police officer has no idea if Misael and his lawyer are aware of the latest blood evidence.
2. Braulio is on the phone with Misael who tells him he has checked into a real tacky hotel so he wouldn't be spending any of Braulio's money. Braulio thinks that is exactly the kind of hotel he deserves for having betrayed him. He reminds Misael about how he complicated everything on the day of the accident by fleeing and taking the money with him. Misael says that is obvious but what is done is done. He is now concentrating on getting Julia back so he can leave with her and Danny. Braulio is incredulous and asks if he is sure that Julia is really going to go with him. Is she cheating on him? Misael says she knows if she doesn't come back to him she won't be seeing Danny. Braulio says he needs to keep en eye on her because she could be working with Angel. She evidently is in love with him. Misael says it comes down to who she loves more: her own son or "junior" (Angel). He wants to take his family far away so she won't be seeing him anymore. Misael wants to know about his share of the money. Braulio says he will have his share very soon when they get together and do the math. Misael says he will be getting the money together because he hid it in three places so Silvano's guys could not get their hands on it. That surprises Braulio.
3. Ester is leaving with Max ready to bring Denis to the nursery so they can talk to their family lawyer about custody. Max says he could see the lawyer on his own. Ester insists she needs to be there. She wants to know exactly what are the chances that Cinthia's family could end up with custody. Max says she needs to calm down but she only gets more worked up. She will do whatever is necessary to protect her grandson, even give her own life.
4. Flavia doesn't quite understand why Jero would put their business at risk when everything is going very well and their earnings are excellent. She tells him that he has to separate business from his personal life. Jero tries to explain that ALL relationships are based on trust. He can't trust a person who does bad things with the intent of hurting another person. She says if he is referring to Ester, he needs to see that Ester is trying to hurt Cinthia. She asks if he is on Ester's side. He only wants to see a reconciliation between the two of them. She says that isn't how Ester works. She spends her life fighting with people. She asks if he would rather hurt Cinthia and her son to be on Ester's side.
5. Rayo is recording herself. She tried to talk to Mirna but it was a failure. Angel went on a trip so she couldn't tell him anything. Her father is in the hospital so she couldn't tell him anything. She is feeling very bad, alone and like she has no where to fit in again.
6. Rayo's recording is interrupted with Mirna calling her STUPID and telling her that she got what she wanted. Doris is gone lock stock and barrel. Mirna insists it is Rayo's fault. Rayo tries to explain again to Mirna how she heard Doris make fun of her but Mirna refuses to listen. She says the real problem is Rayo who has caused disasters ever since she arrived. She sarcastically adds that her father found his LOVER'S daughter not a moment too soon.
7. Back in Matehuala, Julia is ready to get back to Mexico City while it is still light out. Angel is worried about Misael. They have to be very careful and not confront him. Furthermore, they cannot tell anyone what they found out so it doesn't get out. She agrees but is still wondering why Misael lied about being the driver. Angel says they have to investigate and be discrete until they find out what really happened. She is worried now that since he is not the driver, he cannot be declared guilty and could easily end up getting custody of Danny since he wouldn't have a criminal record. Angel knows it is not easy but he tells her to try to stay calm. She thanks him for being with her through good and the bad. Angel smiles. They finally leave.
8. Jero explains if he doesn't trust Flavia, it is because he remembers some rather unpleasant experiences he has had with her like her not wanting to pay his sons for working on the food truck. Flavia tries to explain that it was only because they were just starting up their business. She always planned on paying them. What kind of a monster does he thinks she is anyway?? He blames himself for not saying anything to her from the very start. Flavia can't understand how her helping Cinthia is different from him helping Cinthia. He cannot talk anymore. He is doesn't want to say anything he might be sorry for later.
9. At the lawyer's office, Ester is wild-eyed and demanding to know why the aunt (Laura) would have a better chance of getting custody rather than she the grandmother The lawyer says basically because of the age of the aunt which would ensure the child is cared for until he is no longer a minor. Ester doesn't like that answer and emphasizes that she has so much more experience and could care so much better for Denis. The lawyer adds that there is also the aunt's husband to consider who has a very good job. He just got a promotion and has a much better income. Ester thinks that by giving custody to Laura, it is like giving custody to the the mother who is a drug addict. Max tries to shut her up but can't. Ester asks if there is anyway that Laura couldn't get custody. The lawyer says only if they found out that Laura or her husband were alcoholics, drug addicts, didn't have a sustainable income, or were convicted criminals. Max says that is certainly is not the case with Laura. They would have been aware of that by now. Ester says nothing but you can see the wheels turning. .
10. Mirna has called Sergio to badger him about when he is coming back. She is upset he took so long to get back to her. He says he had to get to a secure place to not put her at risk. She tells him that Doris left because of her father's bastard daughter. He says if Doris left it must have been because she was hurt for doing something she didn't do. Doris will be great loss for her family. He is sorry. He cannot do a thing being so far away. Mirna wants to know when he is coming back. He says it won't be long and as soon as he comes back, they will get married. In the mean time, he wants her out looking for the prettiest apartment she can find where they can raise their family. She needs to take photos of the one she likes the best and send them to him. Mirna is all happy again.
11. Back at her apartment, Ester has gone around another bend picking up Denis early so that Cinthia and her sister cannot spy on where she leaves him. She is worried that Cinthia and Laura could just take him. Max cannot see them doing anything like that knowing that would jeopardize them getting custody. Ester doesn't care. She doesn't trust the addict or her sister. She has to go to work but leaves Max in charge. She doesn't want him to let anyone see Dennis or take him out anywhere. He tells her she is too worked up. She suddenly remembers that Jero had an address for Cinthia before she went into rehab. Max notices she is distracted. She says she has errands to run before she goes back to work.
12. At the food truck, Adair tells his father he has to help his mother get down a suitcase off a shelf for her trip with Donato. Jero is glad they are going. He hopes they come back even more in love. Cinthia wants to talk to Jero but never gets to because Ester arrives wanting to talk to him.
13. Celeste arrives at the neurologist's office celebrating about how wonderful she is feeling. The doctor thinks that is great but not realistic. She warns her about how they will need to start treatment as soon as the baby is born to keep a possibly terrible MS relapse at bay the best they can. Celeste is shocked back to reality.
14. Ester tells Jero all about how Misael took his son away from Julia and is staying in this terrible neighborhood not that far from the apartment complex. She thinks the place is near where Cinthia was buying her drugs. He asks if he can help out. She asks if he can give her the address of the drug place and she can pass it on to Rodolfo so he can deal with Misael. He sends her the address. She asks him not to tell anyone. Jero says he never gave her any reason not to trust him. She still cannot be sure that Flavia didn't find out about everything from him. She cannot let it go but Jero asks her that they not argue about it. She finally agrees.
15. Rayo expresses her exasperation with her situation in a phone call to Teo. He tells her when Angel gets back, she should just tell him what is going on already PERIOD. She asks why??? if Doris already left. Teo says she evidently left because she did something.
16. Mirna interrupts saying she just talked to Sergio and Doris quit because of Rayo. Rayo attacks back saying that, of course, if Doris left it was because she wanted to and she is hiding something. Rayo wonders what is going on with Doris and Sergio. Why would she be telling him things? Mirna doesn't want to hear any from "the bastard" Mirna claps her hands in front of Rayo's face like a little kid. Rayo tells her it wasn't her fault and Mirna will not call her a bastard again. Mirna says she will call her what she wants and since Doris left because of her, Rayo can take care of their father when he comes home. Rayo says she will do that and gladly.
17. Celeste is still upset at the doctor's office as Braulio pledges to always be there to care for her. The doctor says she is lucky to have her husband there to support her. Many women in her condition are left by their spouses or suffer abuse at their hand. Some men try to keep their wife's disease in check by keeping them pregnant with one child after another.
18. Julia and Angel are back in Mexico City. She tells him that she is still could be traveling with Misael's reconciliation vacation idea. She says obviously she is going to avoid it whatever it takes. They talk about what they found out and not understanding the whole situation. She is still having a hard time believing that Misael actually stole the money and is a thief. He reminds her again not to tell anyone anything until they know the whole truth of what happened.
19. Angel calls the doctor and finds out that nothing they have tried has helped Homero. He is not likely to improve. Homero talks about his family and is usually in a good mood except when he talks about not being in the life of his youngest daughter for so long.
20. Misael tells Danny that his mother just sent him a message that she is coming on vacation with them. Danny is happy. Misael says to make a woman obey you have to put the screws to them and release them ever so slowly. They are not like men. Danny concludes men are stronger!!! Misael adds that is how you get them to eat out of your hand. Danny asks like little fish? Misael says exactly!! That is exactly what he is doing with his mother. Misael gets a call from his lawyer.
21. Ester is on her way to the drug house when her taxi driver stops in the middle of the street and says that no cab from his company is allowed to go into the neighborhood they are approaching. He wouldn't risk it. What to do? Ester gets out of the cab and proceeds on foot. She feels like she has no choice.
22. Back at their apartment, Braulio tells a depressed Celeste that everything will be okay. She realizes now that her pregnancy made her feel invincible and that isn't reality. Braulio tells her to have faith and they will fight on together. She is afraid that soon she will be just a fragment of the woman she once was. Braulio assures her that he is not going anywhere. He could never leave the love of his life. She thanks him. She could never do it without him. He is great guy. They love each other.
23. Angel brings Mirna and Rayo up to date on their father who will not be doing any better. Mirna tells him about Doris quitting and how it is all Rayo's fault. Rayo says she didn't say anything to Doris. She got her things together and left. Angel says that Doris is an adult. Nobody did anything to her. She left in the worst possible way. Mirna starts to blame Rayo again. Rayo says that Doris left like she did because she must have felt guilty about something. Angel says that Rayo has a point. If Doris hadn't done something bad, why did she just up and leave? Mirna says Rayo caused the problem and can fix it. Rayo says when her father gets out of the hospital, she will take care of him. Angel tells her she is too young and doesn't have the skills. Mirna suggests Armando. Angel says Armando cannot come back because he was not the man they thought he was.
24. Cinthia runs into Flavia on the street and thanks her for her assistance. Her sister filed the paper work. She would like to pay her back. Flavia says she could have paid her back with her discretion but she had to open her big mouth and tell Jero. Now she is stuck in a mess with her business partner. Cinthia apologizes. Flavia says the drugs must have affected her brain. Cinthia asks what can she do. Flavia says once her sister gets custody, she can leave town with her and her son and never come back.
25. Ester has just bought some drugs. As she leaves the neighborhood she is hounded by addicts looking for money for their next fix. She looks threatened.
26. Angel explains to Mirna that Armando was a spy that Silvano sent into their house. It had nothing to do with AnaS. Mirna insists that Rayo should take care of their father. She doesn't go to school. She doesn't do anything (just like Mirna herself??) Rayo volunteers again. Angel says they would need her for one shift and Mirna for another. Mirna doesn't like that idea. Angel says it would be only until they can hire someone else. He is sick of Mirna complaining. He and Mirna get into a shouting match that goes on until Rayo shouts even louder to stop them. She asks why is it such a big deal to take care of their father. They complain like he were some kind of a burden for them. He took care of them when they were little kids. It is something they can do for him. She never had the chance to enjoy him as a father when she was a little girl like they did. She experienced his absence for 15 years and now that she has found him, she is not going to waste one second she canto be with him even if soon he will not even realize they are his children.
27. Ester remarks how comfortable Denis is with Cinthia. (Uh, why wouldn't he be?) That makes Cinthia smile. She thinks it will make it all easier when her sister gets custody. Ester would like to talk to her sister about her plans for Denis' future and to get to know her better. Cinthia says she will tell her when she gets back so they can talk.
TWO DAYS LATER
28. Rayo says that it looks like Angel also misses their dad. Angel says he does. He feels his absence in every room. Now he is faced with a major decision about a new partner at the company and he doesn't feel competent. What Rayo had to say to him and Mirna really touched him. Rayo adds that their parents are not aways going to be there to defend them. Sometimes they have to do it on their own. She assures him that his father has prepared him for what he has to do at the company. Angel is in tears saying he is the one who should be consoling her and she's giving him lessons about life. Rayo asks him not to leave her all alone. He hugs her and tells her that he never never never would do that. He understands how difficult it must be for her. First she finds her father and now she is going to have to get used to his absence again. Rayo smiles and says at least she will be able to see him. Mirna listens in. Rayo asks if their father will be okay. Angel has to tell her that Homero will not be getting any better. They will be discharging him and he will come home but they will probably be total strangers to him. That even brings tears to Mirna's eyes.
29. Braulio meets with Misael in the parking garage where he has returned one third of the money to him. He asks about rest. Misael tells him not to rush him. Braulio thinks that he better not get comfortable and just quickly hand over the rest of it. He explains that even though AnaS' auditors are not finished, he fears that something is going to pop up. Misael wants to know what the money has to do with that. Braulio says a lot. Having the money gives him security because if something unexpected happens, he can take his wife and get away. Misael gets it and tells him he can calm down. After his vacation with Julia and his kid, he will give him the rest. Braulio warns him to play straight with him. They would not want things to get complicated for him or his family.
30. Chepina asks Julia if she is sure that the plan that she has going on with her lawyer and Angel is a good one. Julia says she had no other choice. She is doing it because she is desperate and cannot be away from he son. She is meeting with Misael right there in the park. Gina can see that being without Danny is killing her. Julia explains that not being able to be with him has forced her to do something drastic. She is so worried that Misael is filling his little head with all kinds of stupid things. She is not going to cry because she wants to appear as calm as possible. Gina thinks she is super brave. She adds that she can call her for any thing any time. Chepina says that Julia doesn't know how much she loves her and Danny and Gina, too. Julia and Gina are her girls. They'll hug.
31. Ester, suddenly all perky, asks Max if he knows anything about how the custody issue is going. All he knows is that it is in process. He suggests that she try to make an agreement with Laura and Cinthia about some kind of grandparent visitation so that this could come to some kind of peaceful end. Ester is not interested. Her grandson is going to stay with her because that is what Iván would have wanted. (Yikes! Is she a medium that can read her dead son's thoughts from beyond the grave???) Max tells her that she knows they will have to negotiate. She will not negotiate as if Denis were a piece of merchandise. The doorbell rings. It is Cinthia.
32. Ester says Cinthia wasn't supposed to come over today. Cinthia knows that but Laura can. Since she has her car, Cinthia took advantage of that fact to ask her to come and help her move some her things from Ester's house and since Ester said she wanted to see her. . . Ester says of course! and asks her to come in. Ester asks Max to take Denis to child care. Cinthia offer sot go with them but Ester says it is better that she and Cinthia wait for her sister to get there. They can wait a the entrance to see her so Ester can still get to work on time.
33. While Jero is doing prep work in Flavia's kitchen, Flavia asks Jero is they did not/do not have a really great working relationship. The last thing she would want is a minor issue to damage that connection. She cannot believe that he wants to dissolve their partnership when things are going so well. He is clear that he told her what he thought and he hasn't changed his opinion. She still doesn't understand the difference in how they both supported Cinthia. Why was she bad in doing so? He says the he supported Cinthia up front in a loyal and honest way while Flavia supported her with a sense of treachery and advantage. He says she did it just to aggravate Ester. He thinks that maybe it would be better to ask her since when has she been so envious of Ester. Flavia loses it and says she isn't there to talk about Ester. She is sick of the fact that the topic of Ester turns up absolutely everywhere. Jero thinks that the truth of the matter is that Flavia is the one who always ends up involving Ester somehow in her life. 34. Ester meets with Laura and says she wanted to talk to her to come to some kind of agreement. Laura is clear that she doesn't think that they have to come to any kind agreement. Everything is decided. Ester says that in case she didn't know, her son Iván would have supported Denis. Laura says that she knows all about that but it doesn't change anything. With due respect, what he said really doesn't matter now because he . . . Ester cuts her off saying she is only asking for them to respect the wishes of somebody who is no longer there. Laura says Denis is alive and they are only doing what is best for him. Laura hates to cut it short but she has an appointment and Cinthia has to come with her. Ester says it is getting late and she needs to get to work, could they drop her off at the subway? It is only few blocks from here. They agree.
34. Julia with her suitcase and her whole family meet with Misael out in the park. Little does Misael know that Julia's lawyer and social worker are observing the meeting from afar. Misael didn't know that she was bringing out her whole family. That was something they didn't agree on. Danny is happy to see them. Julia asks if they can give him a hug. Misael finally allows him to do so but cuts the hug short saying that machos know how to endure anything. Julia tells him enough of his foolishness. He asks what she is talking about. Is she going to suddenly announce that she is not going with them ? Julia says she is not going anywhere with him because they are DIVORCED. He asks her if she has gone crazy or what? She wants him to know the family court judge ordered her social worker to come here to observe this interaction and to talk to Danny. Misael sees she still is betraying him. Julia doen't care what he says other because the social worker is watching. The social worker and Julia's lawyer emerge.
35. Ester thanks them for the lift. She says after chatting with her, she knows that Laura is responsible and will care for Denis very well. She thanks them and leaves. (something behind??? like a packet of drugs??)
36. Laura says she never knew how tiresome Ester was. A least finally, she wasn't acting so crazy. Cinthia hates to see Ester like that because she knows that she doesn't want to lose Denis. Laura says that is not their problem. Laura thinks she needs to get custody and then they can go to Querétero where the three of them can start a new life together. She assumes that Cinthia is now on the straight and narrow. Cinthia says she is.
37. Flavia refuses to be thrown to the side. They have a business together. Jero asks her not to see it that way. He says they are only breaking a business relationship. He admits that some of her attitudes, comments and insinuations have bothered him along the way. Flavia apologizes if she made him feel bad. Maybe she sent him mixed signals without wanting to but she is desperate. He asks what is she talking about. Why would she feel desperate? She says because she doesn't want to lose him. Why doesn't he get that? Jero looks like a light bulb suddenly went off in his head.
38. Misael says that he if he would have known about this trap, he would have brought his own lawyer. Julia doesn't want to fool him or set traps for him, she only wants justice to be done. The social worker lets Misael know that they tried to notify him. They sent a notification to his home address but were informed that the doesn't reside there. He says they already knew that he wasn't residing there. She says that he needed to advise them of that change because they are dealing with his child's wellbeing. The social worker asks Danny how things have been going for him. Before answering, he looks to Misael as to what to say. He finally says he doesn't know. She asks if he is happy being with his father. Danny scratches his head.
39. Back at the Funes company, Angel tells Ester to get everything ready for the new associate to sign on. Angel is concerned that the new partner doesn't want to wait until after the audit to sign the partnership papers. Braulio says he is in the middle of his vacation and is limited in the time he has available.
40. Misael leaves with Danny in tow. Julia cannot believe she has to let her son go with him. The social worker says she can be calm because it is in the hands of the of the judge now. Danny is not going easily with his father. His father tells him to quit whining. Danny tells him to let him go and breaks free to go running back to Julia and her family as Misael follows. They all hug as Misael looks on.
41. Ester makes a call to an anonymous tip line to report that Cinthia and Laura Ugaldineto most likely are carrying drugs in their car. She has the license plate number and the direction they were going in.
"But what we forget in our desperation is that all of the acts we commit, regardless of our intention , always have consequences and sometimes these can be terrible."
Please feel free to add anything I left out.
Well, Ester is right up there now with Braulio, Flavia, AnaS and Misael on my most disliked character list. Maybe Ester and Flavia hate each other so much because they really are so much alike as rather nasty human beings. Maybe Max was right in his assessment.
It was good to see Julia finally move to take some positive action and for it to have a neutral if not positive result since it is now in the hands of the court.
I wonder how much longer Mirna will even be able to get in contact with Sergio. How long until he does a permanent disappearing act?
As always, I am interested in reading your take on this episode.
Thank you, everyone, for the kind and generous comments. If I were a peacock, I'd be spreading my feathers :-)
Diana, " “Dani silently wonders what is happening? Memo can’t be the same man Zulema (the cell mate) told her about”. Yes, yes! Why did she not hold onto that? Why did she not unburden her heart so she could learn the real truth?" Perfect! Oh how I was hopinging she would hold on to that thought and tell Memo everyting she was told! Instead, she held on to all of Fausto's lies! UGHHH!
Urban, thank you so much for the actor's ages! I really thought Leonardo Daniel would be older than Sergio Reynoso. And wow, all of our main cast is in their 40s? Gabe, especially, looks older!
Susanlynn, "Mac seems incredulous that Ampara can resist his charms (?)" He's such and idiot! I'm so glad Amparo ran him off, but Iwish she had told him abou tcatching him and Yoyo!
Darcy, "So Yo and Amparo knew each other from years back?" I was surprised too!
Oh gotta go, I'll be back later...
Jarifa, after reading your simply amazing short story, I realized that last night I watched the episode but saw little and understood even less.
Rayo’s pain and anguish was evident; “She couldn’t tell him anything” would break the coldest heart. Julia grew up a bit and handled an impossible situation well. Mirna was made the fool but bristled and attacked. Celeste hung onto Braulio who made himself indispensable. Flavia was her usual prune faced self.
But never in my wildest dreams (nor seeing it transpire right before my eyes apparently) would I have imagined what Ester was doing! Desperation indeed! Yet, you spelled it out perfectly: “Ester is not interested. Her grandson is going to stay with her because that is what Iván would have wanted. (Yikes! Is she a medium that can read her dead son's thoughts from beyond the grave???” was crystal clear. Silly me did not realize “Ester has just bought some drugs”. I guess my head was in La La land last night.
“Misael says to make a woman obey you have to put the screws to them and release them ever so slowly”. Disgusting.
“Ester is wild-eyed and demanding to know why the aunt (Laura) would have a better chance of getting custody rather than she the grandmother The lawyer says basically because of the age of the aunt which would ensure the child is cared for until he is no longer a minor”. Really? I can see age being a consideration but certainly not THE reason. If Ester were in her right mind, that wouldn’t seem quite fair.
We know Ester won’t get away with this – Jero (and likely even Max) will have their suspicions immediately. Will Jero forgive? We he still be the besotted but hardly acknowledged suitor? I’m still reeling and have no answers.
Jarifa, your recaps are always wonderful but the thought and detail you gave to this critical and shocking episode was especially incredible. What a journey you are leading us through. The trip of a lifetime.
Jarifa, I am going to try and rewatch this over the weekend now that I understand what transpired. This was excellent – thank you…
Diana
Rgv Chick, I feel a bit badly but thought Leonardo Daniel was quite a bit older than he actually is!
Urban, thank you for noting the actors ages. I had forgotten we knew what Ursula's mother's crime was, thank you for refreshing my very faulty memory. I fear Ursula seems doomed to repeat history, in some horrific way.
Darcy, yes, Isa was so sweetly vulnerable reappearing at the restaurant. So heartbreakingly realistic. I can't wait for her to be with Dani and Memo but it still seems so far away. And Liz, I'm glad you brought up that Memo should have shown her Olivia's picture. It was the natural thing for him to do and yet...nothing.
Susanlynn, loved "yoyo" :)
Niecie, in terms of Fausto and Olivia, I can only think he wanted the child and wanted to be sure she was out of the way. One of my questions is how anyone could love such different mem as Fausto and Memo. Oops. Guess I forgot that is one of the key elements of this entire storyline! :)
Here's hoping the THIRD Amparo/Eugenio kiss will be hot and passionate. The third time's the charm right??
Diana
Excellent job, Jarifa. I remain in awe of how you pack so much detail so smoothly.
I am flabbergasted by Ester. I never expected her to sink this low. This is criminal. I can see her enemies -- Braulio and Misael -- laughing at her being hauled off to jail, if they're not hauled off first. And Flavia will hold a "I told you so!" party.
Jero? My word, that poor man doesn't know how to pick them.
The bright spot was Julia outsmarting Misael. Yay!
Jarifa, thank you so much for the detailed recap. It was like reading a good book. Count me as another one that had no idea Ester bought drugs. I knew she had asked Jero for an address, and realized where she was. But she has stooped to a new low. Then deliberately leaving them in the car! Denis has not been good for her, she’s turned into one of the villains.
I enjoyed the fact that Misael only gave Braulio part of the money. I hope he keeps the rest for himself. There’s no honor among thieves. I will feel bad for Celeste when Braulio meets his fate. He’s made her really dependent on him. And I didn’t think the doctor was much help. Just worried Celeste more.
Rayo and Angel were so sweet together. He now has a loving sister. Mirna doesn’t even want to care for her own father.
I’m glad Danny is back with Julia. Guess he realized he was happier and more loved with his mother.
Poor Jero, he’s not a good judge of character. Or he’s so good he thinks everyone else is just like him.
I hope somehow they discover what Ester did. I’m so disappointed in her!
Liz
Thanks, guys. I had time this weekend to do a more comprehensive recap but the real credit goes to the incredible writers of this novela. What a team they must be !
DRUG SALE SCENE: Ester was leaving the drug dealer’s place as he was handing her a white packet that she quickly concealed. He then told her something like “Anytime, señora.” Yeah. She looked soooo out of place in her white pants and magenta top it was no surprise she was swarmed by the addicts. She was lucky that none of them acted on their DESPERATION which was the theme of the episode.
Diana, I was surprised that age was one of the major factors in assigning custody along with income and criminal record but when I thought more about it, it made sense. Aside from the legal requirements, I wondered if Denis would have the chance to grow up with cousins if Laura has/were to have children. Ester getting custody seemed so isolating, cold, controlled and now she is a criminal. I will be very disappointed if she gets off scot-free.
but will not be surprised. Jero needs to look outside of this neighborhood for some female companionship. It is slim pickens currently.
Niecie, I so agree that “The bright spot was Julia outsmarting Misael.” FINALLY! Now that Danny has run back to Julia and the family, will Misael have the nerve to grab the kid and carry him off?
Liz, “There’s no honor among thieves.” really describes that situation. I, like you, am enjoying seeing Braulio twisting in the wind completely unsure if Misael will keep his part of the deal. His threats seemed rather vague but Misael looked like he took them seriously. That gave me pause.
If after this Geronimo will still justify Ester's behaviour, there's no hope for him. Flavia is right about Ester not 'working this way'. Ester doesn't seem to be the one for compromise. Her moto seems to be my way or the high way. That's why Ivan never opened up to her and it pisses me off that she always has a go at Max when she has also failed. I'm not saying Max hasn't failed, but Ester likes throwing stones too much. As she used an anonymous line, can she even be acused of lying and charged with something? For her to be even a bit more tolerable, she should have had a personality that isn't so intense at least. So Julia divorced Misael and the custody battle goes to cort? Finally. Miseal deserves to be outsmarted. Viejas have nbrains it turns out, Misael.
I am done with Esther. According to the intro , we see Jer and Esther smiling and seemingly in a HEA together . Huh? How? Esther seems to get more pompous and headstrong with each passing episode. She is such a bossy boss know it all. She doesn't deserve to end up with good guy Jer. However, Jer is too gullible . Despierta, Jer. Time to stop being Pollyanna and realize that some people can't \ won't change .
Susanlynn, I'm joining you in 'no to Ester' camp. I find it hard totolerate bossy characters and the drugs business wasthe last straw. But Gero is Poliana (lol at this comparison) so...I wonder what Poliana would say but someone once quoted her and I remember feeling like I overdosed on something sweet. Maybe we could have a sequal where Gero gets sick of everyone and goes on a murder rampage. Maybe murder is too much, but he is way too good. I keep thinking of the episode from the Simpsons where Ned Flanders just has enough of all that nonse and gets angry. How would Gero live with her? I suppose he'd tell her if he disagreed with her but would be too diplomatic so she just wouldn't listen. Then he'd do what he thought was best and she would get mad. But he constantly gives her the benefit of the doubt when she doesn't deserve it and she's bound to disappoint him if he keeps thinking it's understandable. I love ranting about her, though, so that's something.
waterlily, yes, it looks like Misael is going to find out that indeed "viejas" do indeed have brains. I cannot wait. Now if Julia can just keep herself from doing something stupid, it should be okay. We still have 11 episodes left so I have my doubts that the Danny visitation/custody issue is signed, sealed and delivered. in Julia's favor.
Susanlynn, I agree and hope that Jero will smarten up and realize that Ester is a loose cannon because that is exactly what she is. Maybe he likes non-stop drama because that is what he would have if he ends up with Ester.
"She [Ester] was lucky that none of them acted on their DESPERATION which was the theme of the episode."
Jarifa, folks nearby are wondering why I'm laughing so hard. Honestly, if the police investigate, everybody there will be able to identify Ester because she stood out so much.
Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.
Jarifa, yes, maybe Jer has a thing for high maintenance people so that he can try to swoop in and counsel\ save them. I tend to like to be around low maintenance , easygoing folks . I have been watching " Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" on Netflix , and I would love getting coffee with Jerry Seinfeld at least once a week. He seems so mellow . I would hate to have most of these folks in my orbit. I would have moved out of that neighborhood a long time ago.
Jerry Seinfeld has been one of my faves for a looong time, not that there is anything wrong with that. ;)
Thanks, Jarifa, for the great and thorough recap.
Jeronimo has no reason to trust Flavia at all. She refused to pay his sons for their work and lied about the financial direction of the business. She was hoarding the money all along.
Both Rayo and Angel need to go NC with Mirna.
If Misael thinks "machos" can endure anything why is he always trying to destroy Julia?
Esther has gotten desperate. She needs help.
Does anyone know what will come after Camino? In Mexico, they're currently in episode 65, if I'm not mistaken and I think it'll finish around March 20. We're only a few episodes behind, so I guess it'll finish at the last days of March.
Maybe it's a little early to be asking this, but I assume Perdona Nuestros Pecados will replace Vencer, so I was wondering what will replace Camino. Mi Secreto maybe?
Hi Weirdo - great to see your post.
I honestly don't know what is coming after Camino, it may be Mi Secreto, I can't hazard a guess.
