We see a repeat of our mystery lady reading Humberto Santos’s ad in the paper.
Humberto is sitting at his table when Amparo storms in and tells her father that the divorce hearing went awful and Mac is demanding half of her property in the divorce. Humberto says to trust in his lawyer, he’ll find a solution but Amparo says his lawyer too says that if she wants a divorce she’ll have to agree to it. Amparo is sure if Mac gets 50% he will sell right from under them. Besides the restaurant loses more business everyday and Amparo knows the trucking business isn’t doing well either. Humberto says and worse Leo quit to focus on singing. Humberto put in ad in the paper but he isn’t too hopeful. It’s difficult to find trustworthy people in this business and when you do they cost the big bucks! Amparo says she hopes dad finds an honest and hard-working applicant and Humberto echoes the sentiment.
Leo is strumming away at the guitar and Amparo talks to him next. She asks if he’s sure about quitting. Can he really trust the producer? Leo is sure, Max is the real deal and he represents one singer already who is super famous. Amparo hopes Leo is right and she brightens up even more when she receives a message from Eugenio. Leo wants to know when Eugenio is returning and Amparo doesn’t know yet but she hopes it’s soon. Leo likes seeing Amparo happy instead of miserable as she was with Mac.
Grace is still working at the restaurant and she is now stealing money to boot…. I’m sad that she didn’t fail at her mission and go away during the five months’ time passage.
Memo and Humberto talk about how Isa still doesn’t want to talk to him and Humberto tells Memo not to give up hope. Isa is still young as she gets older she will understand. Memo appreciates the advice and Humberto goes off on stubborn Leo again. Memo says dad should have faith in him but Humberto is worried that those people are taking advantage of him. Next, they discuss how Mac the Rat is trying to get half of Amparo’s property in the divorce and Memo is furious!! Humberto points out that Mac managed to get a very expensive lawyer and he wonders where he got the money for that! (Why did I have hope yesterday, that these people would be done being upset and depressed about EVERYTHING five months later?)
Well, Mac is happy! He’s having lunch with Falso and they are talking about how Falso is paying for Mac’s divorce and when he gets the land, he will sell to Falso. Mac says deal! He holds out his hand that is otherwise shoving food in his face but Falso isn’t about to shake it and haughtily ignores the gesture. Falso adds one more thing, I heard your son is now going to my daughter’s school. Yep, Mac answers all proud. Well, Falso doesn’t want him there so Mac better come up with a way to get him out of there. Mac is insulted by this I thought, but I was wrong; he just didn’t want Falso to leave without giving him money for the check.
Memo and Ursa are cuddling and kissing but Memo has to go to work. This cuteness is too sickening for me considering who we know Ursa to be. Memo leaves and luckily the phone doesn’t ring with Dani’s call until Memo is out of Ursa’s earshot. He looks at his phone and hesitates but finally answers saying ‘Daniela’ with as much warmth as always. He is still so happy to hear her voice and she asks to see him and if he has time and he is happy to oblige. He offers to go to her house but she would prefer to meet somewhere else. He says you tell me where and I’ll be there.
Satan is crying to Aaron about Chema being at Isa’s school and Aaron wonders if Falso thinks that Dani and Memo are still seeing each other but he says no. He mentions that after months of not hearing his name, Dani did suddenly bring it up the other day. Supposedly the ‘psychologist’ wants to meet with them and Memo but Falso refused of course. Aaron reminds him that it would benefit him if Dani and Memo had an affair but Falso says no way! Aaron points out that if Dani and Memo had an affair and they had proof of it they could use it to pressure Dani into agreeing to just about anything to keep Falso from taking her daughter from her as a result of her adultery. Falso orders Aaron to follow Dani and report her every move! But if he discovers she’s having an affair he will kill her!!! Becoming a widow will not harm his inheritance but a divorce wouldn’t be beneficial to him at all. If he was a widow with custody of Isa until she was an adult, he could recover everything that is his!
Yo is still thrilled to see Mac walk into the door but Mac doesn’t seem too interested. He tells her things went badly and his ‘Brujer’ doesn’t want to give him his share of the property. Oh, and pack my bags! Why? His lawyer’s advice, if he wants his half of the property, he needs to be back living on the property. Yo looks pathetic, oh I mean sad, yeah sad.
Dani tries to fly out of the house but Chuchita stops her. Dani admits she decided to take Chita’s advice and is going to see Memo. Chuchita is thrilled and says Dani is doing the right thing. She prays God will be with her on this errand. She should have prayed that God would keep demons from following Dani since Aaron is doing just that, but luckily he loses her in traffic.
Our mystery lady arrives at the truck stop and Berto (her name for him) knows her!! She gets down from the truck yelling his name and how it’s been so many years since they’ve seen each other! Berto turns around and says ‘Lola?’ these two greet each other with the big bear hug!
Mac and Amparo are not hugging that’s for sure. Mac is trying to move back in and Amparo is saying ‘No way, Jose!’ Mac is unimpressed and tells her that under advice from his lawyer he is going to move in there until their divorce is finalized. Amparo tries to hit him but unfortunately, he blocks her. She tries to reason with him that the land is their inheritance for their children but he doesn’t care about that either. He is going to get what belongs to him and he’s staying right there until he does.
Dani and Memo are meeting at his famous thinking spot. Memo is there first and Dani pulls up. Memo goes to open the door for Dani and they start out friendly(ish) enough but Dani goes quickly to the point, she wants to talk about Olivia. What about her? Memo asks. Dani wants to know how he was capable of abandoning her after making her believe her daughter died in childbirth!! Memo looks at Dani as if she grew a second head, WHAT???
Lola and Berto are catching up and she says she saw his ad and decided to come by and say hello to an old friend! We learn that Berto is thankful to Lola because she’s the one who introduced her to Martina, the woman he was so happy with for many years. Lola says she could tell the moment they might that they were made for each other.
Memo tells Dani that drugs are bad for her… not really, but he should have. Instead, he tells her he has no idea what she is talking about. Olivia was in jail? That can’t be true! Dani says don’t even try to lie, I know it’s the truth, I already confirmed it. Memo says well it’s news to me! I never heard anything like that and I didn’t know Olivia had a daughter until I got her letter. You know about the letter, you read it! Dani asks why Memo doesn’t just admit that the letter is as fake as he is! Memo can’t believe Dani really believes what she is saying and Dani says yes, every word, every phrase of that letter was made up by you! You invented it as an excuse to get close to me and to my daughter without us learning the truth! You destroyed that woman’s life!!! Memo is aghast. Does Dani really think he’s capable of that? What kind of monster does she think he is? He thought she knew him. Dani says that’s exactly the problem. She doesn’t know him! She thought she did but she doesn’t at all, and that’s why she’s terrified for Isa! That’s why she’s been trying to keep Isa from him, to protect her!!!
Back to Berto and Lola having a less dramatic conversation, but Lola had her moments too I suppose because she hopped into her truck right after Humberto and Martina’s wedding and they never saw her again. She never married or had children. The road has always been her life! She had a couple relationships but never settled down or stayed in one place. Humberto understands the love of the road. Lola says what about you and Berto tells her Martina died several years ago and he simply dedicated his life to his children and his business. She asks if he ever looked for another woman and he tells her he didn’t, there was no point. Even after all these years, he still loves Martina as much as he ever did. Lola says he hasn’t changed at all.
Memo says he’s incapable of hurting Isa! Dani says of course not, because I won’t let you! Memo says it destroyed him when Isa yelled in his face that he wasn’t her dad and he’s spent months laying awake trying to understand what happened. Isa was excited to learn he was her father and then she changed overnight. ‘Yes,’ Dani says, ‘because she learned who you really are.’ ‘NO,’ Memo counters, ‘because you and your husband invented a story to turned her against me!!!’ ‘We didn’t invent anything!!’ Dani snaps back, we only told her the truth!!! ‘What truth?’ Memo bites back, ‘That I left Olivia to rot in some prison?’ ‘YES!!’ Dani answers!!! ‘That’s a big lie,’ Memo rather simply states the big truth Dani has been blind to all these months and for the moment at least, it looks like it might be occurring to Dani that it could actually be a lie.
Aaron has to tell Falso that he lost Dani and Satan is unhappy. He needs to find out if Dani is seeing that trucker behind his back. Aaron says don’t worry; he’ll find out.
Dani’s moment of clarity was just that, a moment. She’s back to yelling that the only liar here is Memo. Memo says that isn’t true, he had no idea Olivia was in jail, and actually he doesn’t believe it even now. Dani has heard enough; she came to talk but if he’s just going to stick to his lies there’s nothing to talk about. Dani goes to leave but Memo stops her by grabbing her arms. Dani yanks away and tells him never to touch her again. Memo looks earnestly at Dani and tells her he doesn’t understand why she’s changed so much; he doesn’t understand the hatred she now looks at him with; but he swears on that he never tried to fool Dani. He didn’t know anything about Olivia being in prison.
Lola and Berto are still catching up and I’m just wondering if she’s going to take the job from the ad or not, but Berto finally realizes he’s running late and needs to go help Amparo with something and pick up Chema from school. Lola offers to go with him, they can go in her truck. Berto agrees.
Chema and Isa are playing superheroes at school when some boys from the school come up and start teasing Chema for wearing a cape and telling him he smells.
Dani is still at it, and I thought Chuchita’s advice was to TALK to Memo and hear him out, but Dani hasn’t tried that one yet, she is just piling on accusation after accusation meeting every word he says with ‘You’re a liar!’ Dani tells Memo how she went to the prison she talked to Oliva’s old cell mate. She heard all about what Memo did. She relays each and every one of the accusations of how Memo supposedly abandoned Oliva after making her think they would get married, made her think the baby was dead, let her rot with cancer in jail and gave Isa up for adoption! Memo is incredulous and loses patience with being called a liar every time he opens his mouth. ‘You know me!!!’ Memo pleads with Dani. ‘You know who I am, do you really think I’m capable of any of this?’ Look me in the eyes, he begs! Memo tells Dani that if those things happened to Oliva it had to be another man. He's not capable of leaving a pregnant woman much less abandoning his child!! Memo reminds Dani that he gave up their love because Ursa was pregnant! He was completely and totally in love with Dani but he still didn’t walk away from the woman pregnant with his child! He tells Dani that she can even ask his family if she doesn’t believe him, he was crazy in love with Oliva and devastated when she left him! He didn’t leave her! Does Dani really think he’s that kind of a monster? Dani looks like she once again might actually be thinking but we’ve been fooled by this before…
The mean boys are still circling and taunting and Isa says to stop teasing her cousin. One of the boys says Chema has the face of a taco and Chema tells him tacos are delicious! (You go Chema!) Isa grabs Chema’s hand after telling the mean boys what’s what and yells at them to get out of her way as she stomps off with Chema.
Memo asks how Dani found out Oliva was in prison. Dani says Falso investigated him after finding out Memo was Isa’s bio-dad and they found all this out. Memo says he can’t believe his daughter actually thinks all these things about him. Dani tells him she wanted to keep Isa from finding out. She didn’t want her daughter to know any of this or get hurt by it but Isa ‘accidentally’ overheard her and Falso talking in the study. And everything got complicated. Memo begs Dani to tell Isa that none of this is true, he never did anything to hurt Isa’s bio-mother and Dani says she will!!! Memo says so you believe me? And Dani says she wants to believe him. Memo wants to meet with that woman who told Dani all this. He needs to know what happened to Oliva. Why did she end up in jail? Who ripped their child out of her arms? Dani says her heart is telling her that Memo is telling the truth (too bad you didn’t talk this out months ago).
Dani tells Memo they should go talk to her right now! But Memo says he can’t now. He has to go make a haul for his dad, he can’t fail him. The business isn’t going very well right now. But she can go with him and they can keep talking. Dani doesn’t know but Memo says they have a lot to talk about and for the wellbeing of their daughter they should repair their friendship. Don’t you agree? Memo asks with such hope in his face. Dani agrees but she needs to go pick Isa up from school. Memo tells her that his dad is on his way to pick up Chema, maybe he can pick up Isa too and then they can pick her up at the restaurant when they return? Dani agrees. She will call the school and give Humberto permission and then she’s going to go with Memo!
Chuchita is showing Leo the calendar marking the number of days left until their wedding. Leo is excited until Chuchita brings up Humberto and quitting trucking, which dampened his mood, it was hard for him to disappoint his father but it’s his life and he has to fight for his dreams! He has to take off though and head to the studio. He tells Chuchita he’ll be thinking of her like always.
Sebas really is planning a mega party judging by the set up. I like the Peguin Fest sign!! He gives everyone directions for setting up and Lupita shows up and is a little overwhelmed by the grandness of it all. Sebas tries to reassure her but Lupita is very nervous and afraid his friends won’t like her and Sebas will realize how much he misses the party scene. Sebas assures her that won’t happen. Tonight, is going to be the best of all worlds…. his friends, a party and the love of his life!
Gaby and JuanPa arrive at the restaurant and Gaby suggests that maybe they should be going to help Sebas set up for the party. JuanPa says if there’s one thing Sebas knows how to do it’s to throw a party, don’t worry he doesn’t need our help! He’s even inviting more people; Grace hears this comment and asks about the party. JuanPa tells her she’s invited too, Gaby doesn’t look thrilled. Grace says but wait, I have no way to get there; and JuanPa says she can ride with them. Gaby is now even less thrilled. When Grace is out of earshot, Gaby asks why JuanPa invited Grace and he just says she’s a nice girl and she has no friends. Gaby sort of shrugs at this and doesn’t complain further. JuanPa declares no more stalling, time to tell your mom you left the college. Gaby tries to stall and JuanPa tries to convince her to stop stalling but Gaby says not tonight. Besides mom might punish me and then I couldn’t go to the party! JuanPa relents but makes Gaby promise to tell Amparo tomorrow. They seal the agreement with lots of kisses. Grace is nearby and not sure if she overheard the whole conversation but she overheard some of it.
Humberto has both of his grandchildren and his friend Lola and everyone is thrilled to see and meet each other. Isa even more so when she sees ‘Lola the Truck’ and learns Lola is a trucker too! She’s always wanted to meet a female trucker!!! The four take off together from school in the semi.
Leo is recording but I can’t tell is Max is impressed or not at first. With time he does seem impressed and Miss Monica seems a little jealous of the attention Leo is getting.
Memo and Dani are in the truck and Memo asks if she’s okay. She is. Dani admits she missed spending time with Memo and he says he missed these moments too. Dani puts her head back against the seat and looks at Memo with unguarded adoration.
Monica walks almost past Leo but then turns around and says Max is very impressed with you but you’re kind of mediocre. Leo doesn’t look as insulted as he should be. Monica suggests maybe she could help him. Maybe they could collaborate on something. Leo likes the sound of that and says it would be an honor. Snotty Monica tells Leo that of course it’s an honor! Not just anyone can sing with Monica Romano. She suggests she and Leo have a dinner that night to discuss it and Leo likes this idea but asks if it could be tomorrow since he has dinner plans with his girlfriend tonight. Monica gives a disgusted ‘your girlfriend?’ ‘What’s more important your girlfriend or your career?’ (Run Leo RUN!!!) He doesn’t though, he reluctantly gives in and says tonight it is. Monica tells him to remember that no one tells her no! To Leo’s credit, he does look disturbed by this conversation but he didn’t run like he should have.
Memo and Dani arrive at a restaurant he clearly frequents and Memo greets everyone with warm friendliness. Ordering the usual for two. He says the food is great and Dani warns him not to tell Amparo, she might get jealous. Memo says no one cooks better than Amparo. The Santos’s are the best at everything. Dani has learned that about Isa! Dani says she’s also learned other things about Santos’s such as how stubborn they are! Dani repeats again how much she’s missed Memo’s company and their friendship! She wishes she had cleared things up sooner! Memo says he’s been thinking about everything Dani told him and he wonders why Oliva didn’t tell him anything about any of that in the letter she left him! And who is the man who left her like that and made her believe Isa was dead. Dani has no idea; these are good questions. Dani’s phone starts ringing, Satan is calling; Memo asks if she’s going to answer. No, she says definitively and with a smile, hitting the decline button.
Satan is storming around the castle wondering why Dani isn’t answering her phone. He takes out his rage on Chuchita who tries to lie at first, but she’s a horrible liar! Falso kicks over her mop bucket and yells at her to tell him! He knows they tell each other everything and he wants to know if his wife is with that damn trucker!! Chuchita better tell him or she’s out of the house! Chuchita looks a lot more intimidated than she should considering Falso threatens to fire her like 3x a week, but then again, we did just learn that Leo isn’t going to be showing up anytime soon to rescue his novia so let’s just hope she doesn’t have reason to be afraid…
Darcy, your lens was open wide and laser focused on capturing all of tonight’s events in all their panoramic glory. You captured everything that transpired and implied, for better and for worse with sharp perfection.
“Mac and Amparo are not hugging that’s for sure” and “She prays God will be with her on this errand. She should have prayed that God would keep demons from following Dani since Aaron is doing just that…” were among many favorites.
You related the purely painful Memo/Daniela talk with tenacity and truth. Daniela, clearly in high dudgeon throughout was difficult to watch and impossible to listen to. And yet, finally, she had a dawning of understanding. Watching the gamut of emotions flooding Daniela’s face from initial anger and outrage to the love she feels for Memo was conveyed beautifully and therefore believable. I wanted them to stay in the restaurant smiling and talking and being the happy couple, they should be.
Lola is a breath of fresh air. Macario continues to pollute the air with his very presence.
Leo has barely gotten through his first day of recording and a spider has already ensnared him.
I don’t need the great and powerful Wizard of Oz to tell me the party is going to be a disaster. I wonder if Gaby will even get there; Grace was hovering too close to her conversation with JP.
“Don’t you agree? Memo asks with such hope in his face”. And therein lies the heart of this story. Hope. Pure unadulterated hope that love will triumph and evil will be vanquished. Memo who continues to trust and believe.
Poor Chuchita. Standing too close to the fire of Fausto may surely burn her.
Darcy, this was wonderful. Thank you!
Diana
It is tomorrow morning!
notes from the couch just the "bare facts" edition after blogger ate my original recap
NO PEACE FOR JULIA
-Misael continues to try to poison Danny's mind against Julia saying that she wants to keep them apart.
-Misael keeps trying to force himself on Julia but Chepina comes to the rescue.
-Angel tries to get AnaS to withdraw her Juila video but she refuses.
-Gina wants to tell Julia about the video but Chepina says to leave her in peace and suggests that Gina get herself together and into real life and off of social media.
-Julia finds out about the video from a group of jeering neighbors.
HOMERO'S LESS THAN EXCELLENT ADVENTURE
-Homero wanders the streets and ends up in a pool hall looking for a group of friends calling themselves "The Cue Ball Group " The pool hall guy says they haven't played in several months since Pedro died. Homero says he just saw Pedro last week.
-Braulio finds out that Homero is missing and so he decides to take advantage of the situation. He and Misael go looking for Homero so they can make their big play. Misael has an idea where he might be. It is a place Misael went to with Homero in the past.
-MIsael is successful. Homero is joined by Misael at the pool hall. He agrees to play pool with Homero after he attends a meeting he has to go to.
-BINGO! It turns out that Homero finds himself in a notary's office where he is prompted by Braulio and Misael to signed an agreement bringing on Arnaldo Bermejo as a partner. Homero wants to talk to Angel first. Braulio convinces him he can talk to his son AFTER he signs so he signs
-AnaS brings Homero home saying she found out he was missing and got her people on it. Then she just happened to find him.
-Homero doesn't remember where he was but remembered something about a notary being at a pool hall.
-Later Homero tells Rayo that he thinks there are people who want to hurt Angel. He is afraid he did something that will have bad consequences for him. He doesm't remember where he was but one of the men with him was Misael.
-The doctor has bad news for Homero's children. His condition is deteriorating faster than predicted.
LENAR'S LEGACY
-Lenar is disconnected and her organs are to be donated. The hospital staff applauds her for her donation as they role her corpse out. The doctor talks about the organ donation program and process in detail.
-Lenar is cremated.
ESTER IS THE LATEST RAT IN THE TRP
-Flavia mentions to Jero that Ester was taking very good care of Cinthia and that is probably the least she could do after what she did to her.
-Cinthia tells Jero that she had thought originally that Ester had planted the drugs in her sister's car because she was the only stranger in that car. Then when Laura showed her a photo of the drugs, she noticed a drug seller trademark that matched the trademark from the dealer she herself had purchased from.
-Jero comes to the realization that Ester didn't ask him for the address of that drug house in order to find Danny as she told him after talking to Julia who tells him that Danny was found in the park where Misael brought him.
-Jero confronts Ester. He asks why she deceived him. He reminds her how she asked for the address of the drug house. She says that is how Julia got her son back. He says no, it didn't happen that way. Julia told him something different. He wants to know what really happened with Cinthia. Ester admits to planting the drugs in the car.
JERO'S ENDING QUOTE: Nobody imagines how much it hurts when somebody we love disappoints us and we wonder if that love is sufficient to be able to trust them again.
EVERYTHING ELSE
-Before Ester admitting to her crime, she and Jero were getting a lot friendlier.
-Celeste notices that Braulio is in a much better mood. He say that thing are going much better than he ever expected.
-Rayo runs to Celeste after leaving the Funes house but gets no sympathy from her or the other friends. They tell her to go back home and deal with Mirna.
-Ester suggests that Cinthia probably would benefit from another stint in recap and is very positive about her creating a life for herself and her son.
-Jero agrees that going back to rehab probably would help Cinthia.
-Flavia still has her eye on Jero.
-Mirna feels like an absolute fool after seeing the lawyer since she knows nothing about who Sergio was. How can she ever get back what she lost?
-Mirna is softening towards Rayo after the Sergio debacle and Homero being lost.
As usual, please feel free to add anything I left out
I don't understand why Leo agreed to accept that Monica's help when she clearly thinks he isn't good enough. It always baffles me when people seem to think it's a good idea to associate with people who look down on them.
That Memo Daniela scene was odd and irritating. She kept screaming at him. I just wonder what she thought would happen. Did she think he'd just nod and say oh yes, I left this woman in prison and then put up the kid for adoption. Now I just randomly decided I want the kid back.
it's sad how Umbertoldoesn't encourage his son. He never treats Amparo this way. But then again, she does exactly what he would have wanted her to do- works at her mum's restaurant. I wonder what he'd have said if she had told him she wanted to be a dancer/singer/painter. Or is it just Leo who doesn't get his approval?
Yes, waterlily, Lenar's sendoff was memorable. It was interesting hearing how the transplant doctor considered their task as a sacred one and that they actually started the organ removal process with a moment of silence and a reading of a poem called "So That You Remember Me." I have no respect for Ester, as you all know. . No matter what she does to make it up to Cinthia, the damage has been done.
Thanks, Darcy, I enjoyed your detailed recap. The bright spot was Lola! I’m hoping she will take the job and also be a good friend to Humberto and the family. Maybe more than a friend!
I was mad at Dani who would not talk but just accuse Memo. But now Fausto will be on their tail! And can’t they put two and two together. Think, Dani, who brought you the report!
I’m ready for Grace to be gone. How much has she been stealing? Enough to hurt Amparo’s business? JuanPa is going to get in trouble because of Grace. And I think she heard the conversation between Gaby and JuanPa.
I agree, Diana, the party is going to be a disaster. For both sisters is my guess.
Leo’s dream might be music but he’s too naive for the business. And he and Chuchita were the breath of fresh air romance!
Poor Chuchita! Fausto is always so awful to her.
I really want Karen to come back. Fight the evil with evil! The good sure aren’t winning!
Liz
Jarifa, Your brief notes, just the facts, was great coverage. Sometimes my comments don’t publish and just disappear. That’s frustrating enough. I’d hate to lose a whole recap!
It looks like all three of the bad guys are working together. Poor Angel never had a chance, especially since he was so trusting of AnaSofia and Braulio. Poor Homero, they really took advantage of him. And AnaSofia ends up looking like a hero who finds him and brings him home.
I feel like Ester was repenting and trying to help Celeste. I feel that she panicked when Laura talked about taking Denis to another city.
We’re down to the wire, let’s have some good things happen!
Liz
Jarifa, thank you for your superb recap after your first disappearing. I know how frustrating it is. But you persevered and hit gold.
“ESTER IS THE LATEST RAT IN THE TRAP” was wonderful and had me smiling away.
I cried as the hospital honor guard and Lenar’s family clapped as her body was wheeled down the hospital corridor. How wonderful others will live because she chose to donate. Hopefully, she will find peace and happiness in her next resting place. As always you added an important, touching detail that I hadn’t understood: “It was interesting hearing how the transplant doctor considered their task as a sacred one and that they actually started the organ removal process with a moment of silence and a reading of a poem called "So That You Remember Me."
Rayo and Angel had me crying again but I love their bond. Seeing Homero so cruelly manipulated was heartbreaking.
If only Mirna can shake off her selfishness as easily as she shook out her hair. I guess the headband tossing was to show us she is maturing. It will take a bit more than that I fear.
“JERO'S ENDING QUOTE: Nobody imagines how much it hurts when somebody we love disappoints us and we wonder if that love is sufficient to be able to trust them again” was well said. I believe in forgiveness and I believe in these writers. I’m doubtful but willing to give them a chance for Ester and Jero to end up together.
What I’m never doubtful of Jarifa is your incredible ability to bring every human emotion to life so vividly.
Thank you, thank you.
Diana
I’m doubtful but willing to give the writers a chance for Ester and Jero to end up together BELIEVABLY.
Diana
"I really want Karen to come back. Fight the evil with evil! The good sure aren’t winning!"
Oh Liz, you mirrored exactly what was in my head!
Fausto has controlled and poisoned Daniela's thoughts for far too long. I'm incensed that he is going to have her followed and hounded and unable to have a discussion with Memo! She evaded him last night but the repercussions are going to be terrible!
Karen needs to get her a** back. Pronto.
"I wonder what he'd have said if she had told him she wanted to be a dancer/singer/painter. Or is it just Leo who doesn't get his approval?" Very interesting comment waterlily. I always saw Humberto as the perfect father but that clearly isn't so. Perhaps Amparo was the dutiful daughter whose plans always aligned with what HE wanted for her. Leo has chosen to break out and that is perhaps frigtening to his father. Surely there is another way to look after him other than being overly protective and overbearing.
Diana
I agree that Dani yelling at Memo is hard to watch and disappointing but I kind of understand her. The one thing Dani loves most in this world is Isa and stupid Falso played the Ace up the sleeve convincing her that Memo hurt Oliva, thus hurting Isa! It's a horrible thing to do the woman you are supposed to love and your own child and to learn (to think you learn) that the man you are falling in love with did that to a woman he used to love and your precious Isa, his own daughter? Maybe if Dani had known Memo for years she would be able to lean on and trust her own knowledge of who Memo is. But she's only known him a few months and she's afraid she's allowing herself to be manipulated and played for a fool! I think I'd have a hard time trusting my own instincts in that situation the price to pay for being wrong, ie. Isa getting hurt; is just too high! Not sure, I'd react like Dani either, but that is some pretty serious emotional torture in that scenario. And emotions have a way of killing rational thoughts. All the love, hurt, fear and suspicion has Dani all twisted up just like Falso knew it would. Dani said it herself, she's terrified! Or she was terrified of making the wrong choice and allowing Memo to hurt her child. It's hard to watch because we know the liar lives in her own house but if Memo was the con artist we'd be applauding Dani's ability to look past her own feelings and protect Isa.
It's interesting reading the patio's thoughts on Humberto and Leo. I see it a little different, maybe because I think Humberto had the same reaction to Max that I did initially. I think Humberto believes Leo is going to get taken advantage of - and I don't think he's wrong about that. It might end up being Monica and not Max that does it, but the impression I got from Humberto was more that he didn't approve of Max then that he didn't approve of Leo singing. He made comments to both Amparo and Memo along the lines of what if what if Leo gets taken advantage of. That's not to say I think his method of dealing with his concern by discouraging Leo from even trying is the right thing to do, because I don't. I think he should show more faith in his son and explain to him from the beginning what his concerns were and encourage him to follow his dreams but do it with his eyes opened and while watching for traps! Leo is indeed too naïve, and I hope Monica doesn't eat him alive!! But I've had a bad vibe about this experience since Leo first walked into the studio. Maybe I'm just projecting, but I think Humberto has that same bad vibe!
Jarifa, thank you so much for reconstructing all the hard work you lost. That must have been so frustrating .
Uh oh, awful Braulio and Miserable were able to trick poor, helpless Homero into going to a notary and signing papers . I have seen the new Homero before , but I can't remember which novelas I saw him in.To me, this actor looks to big , hale ,and hardy to play the part of Homero. Oh well...
Mirna ceremoniously casts off her handband. Is this supposed to represent Mirna turning over a new leaf?
Everyone seems to still be immersed in his\her own separate problems and not looking at the big picture and how these problems are all part of a bigger, darker, deeper scenario.
Adios, Lenar, we hardly even really knew ye .
Thanks, everyone, for commenting!
Liz, yes, we are ready for something good already. All of this nefarious activity is making my head spin at this point. Thankfully, with only 7 episodes left until our happy ending for the “worthy” is in sight.
Diana, I am not a fan of lengthy PSA’s but I thought that they really did a great job explaining organ donation and having it be a real part of the story especially by making Jero the reluctant one who had to be convinced and by not rushing his conversion to being a supporter. I could identify with his initial almost “ick” reaction. Great acting again on David Zepeda’s part. It was all very touching.
Susanlynn, yes, I think that Mirna was (trying to turn) turning over a new leaf by shedding her bogus engagement ring and headband. Heck, she even called herself a real “toughie” in the mirror. Too bad she regressed to being her whiny sniveling self after seeing the lawyer. There is no fight or energy in her. She is a mere barnacle on the ship of life just along for the ride!
I'm late to the party, but I made it. I truly enjoy your recaps, Darcy; I admire your innate ability to intertwine your perceptions and reactions to everything that is going on, plus all the detail you capture so vividly. Thank you!
Yes! Dani shouting at Memo that everything he was saying was a lie was quite frustrating! She went there to "listen" to his side, but was expecting him to admit to everything Falso invented and when he didn't she closed off her ears and her heart. And when she finally listened and believed him, she didn't even apologize...or at least I didn't hear it. It was really odd to me that she agreed to go with him to Toluca so quickly, but I'm glad she did.
Poor Chuchita, her loyalty to Dani really bit her in the rear. Hopeofully, Dani will bring her back.
Great discussion regarding HUmberto and Leo. I too think Humberto is correct in thinking that Leo is going to be taken advantage of, but he is being a bit harsh on Leo and his insistance on making this a "family" decision is a bit too much. Humberto is quite old-fashioned in his thinking and is all about family. I do remember him criticizing Amparo when Eugenio first came around...and at one point he advised Amparo that she needed to think of her family when she first wanted to leave Mac; he did the same thing to Memo--reminding him that he gave his word to Ursula about marrying her.
That mega party is bound to be a mega disaster! We shall see tonight!
Super job, Darcy. Each character is so vivid in your storytelling. Among my faves: "(Why did I have hope yesterday, that these people would be done being upset and depressed about EVERYTHING five months later?)" -- lol.
I'm glad Lola the trailera is a good guy. Hmmm, so she left town right after Humberto and Martina married. Could she be carrying a torch for Humberto?
With high reviews and publicity for Amparo's book, you'd think the restaurant would be getting a lot of new customers. Liz, I'm wondering too if Grace is stealing "that" much. It seems to be a $20 here and there, rotten but not enough to wreck a business. But it would be great if Amparo decided to let Grace go because business isn't good.
Oh-no, Sebas is going overboard with the party. I had forgotten there will be no adult supervision (though technically Sebas is an adult!), with Eugenio in Europe visiting Karen.
I guess Dani wearing the mismatched blue blazer and green slacks [Diana, thanks for noting this yesterday] and taking pills for a headache are to signify how miserable she's become.
Darcy, wow, thank you so much for that amazingly detailed recap.
I don't like Leo very much . He is leaving Humberto at a time when the trucking business that has been supporting them all is in trouble .
That was kind of a fast turnaround once Memo was able to plead his case face to face with fuming Dani.
Hmmm.....Sebas decides it is a great idea to throw a mega fiesta with his novia and his wealthy , wild old posse That he used to drink and party with ...what could possibly go wrong ?
Looks like we are going to get some mature Amor with Berto and Lola. ..a blast from the past. Oldies but goodies .
Thanks, Jarifa. I’m sorry blogger ate your original work. You are a trooper to write a second recap for us. Muchísimas gracias! Loved loved loved "ESTER IS THE LATEST RAT IN THE TRAP" -- a super duper headline!
Ester doesn't deserve Jero, but if she makes amends by confessing to the police, clearing Laura's name and record, and going public with being a two-faced know-it-all pointing fingers at everyone else but never looking in her own mirror, I will reconsider. One more strike against Ester. Did you see that "dish" she prepared for dinner with Cinthia? So unappetizing.
Horrible elder abuse of Homero. That notary should lose his license.
Gracias, Darcy. Loved your comments through the recap; so spot-on.
As I predicted, Gaby is beginning to see through Grace while JuanPa is clueless. When are they going to find out that she stole Gaby's device?
Will the dress code for the Penguin Party be black and white?
I saw Monica coming from a mile away. She looks like she would steal Leo from Jesusa on a whim and laugh at her pain.
Fausto's hatred of Daniela is truly disturbing. I am wondering about Aaron's reactions to it. Also still wondering how Fausto intends to steal Isabella's inheritance.
The big deal for me in this episode was that Amparo's marriage term was on a community property basis. This is usually restricted to salaried income and anything that ensues from it. In the USA this excludes inheritance, which is regarded as the separate (non-marital) property of the heir(ess). I hope Eugenio returns ASAP to add his lawyers to Amparo's team.
Finally, I want to comment on the closing credits, which look like a cast party at wrap. The other characters do not appear to notice Ursula or Cesar, both of whom are wearing black. Does that mean that both of them die?
I still feel my feet burn at the shots of Memo and Daniela on top of the truck at the end.
"Did you see that "dish" she prepared for dinner with Cinthia? So unappetizing".
Niecie, so happy you noted that! I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm no cook, not a fussy eater either but there is no way I would ever eat that. I don't even want to know what it was. Ick. :)
Diana
"...want to comment on the closing credits, which look like a cast party at wrap. The other characters do not appear to notice Ursula or Cesar, both of whom are wearing black. Does that mean that both of them die?"
Urban, you never fail to notice everything.
So, the only thing I have noticed was that Cesar seems to be staring straight ahead which I thought was odd. Your question is a good one and you may be entirely right. I'm recapping tonight so will have to remember to look at Ursula as this ends and I'm madly typing away.
Diana
Niecie, great comment about the elder abuse. The notary should have noticed that something wasn't right. It could not have been clearer.
Niecie and Diana, if Jero and Ester get together it looks like he will have to be the one doing the cooking. I would love to know what that was supposed to be on those plates.
Great stuff, Jarifa.
WTH did Ester ever do to Flavia to have deserved all the garbage treatment Flavia dished out at her since before the curtain went up on this story? Flavia is still as delusional, greedy, and selfish as ever.
Ester definitely needs to face the music but I doubt she will end up with an orange jumpsuit.
I am not yet convinced the Mirna has changed. Also, did she have the ring examined to see if it was a fake?
Ana Sofi is still the biggest fake in this whole story.
I also thought the surgeon's description of transplant surgery was excellent despite it being an obvious PSA. Good doctors do see their mission to saving lives as sacred.
Finally, this is not the first novela I've seen with a drug addict among the characters. Why have the writers not been giving us scenes showing rehab?
Urban, I was thinking the same thing about that ring ending up in the trash. Mirna is so goofy she probably never even thought about it being real or fake. Some rehab scenes would have been useful considering all the PSA’s in this one.
I think Humberto's issue is twofold:
--- Leo is the baby of the family and was protected by everyone all his life*
--- Leo is looking beyond any of his family's successes to something highly competitive that he will need major help with. Monica looks like a preying mantis to Humberto.
*This is part of why he has been so intent on Memo getting custody of Isabella. He needs someone to protect.
Methinks Lola is back in his life to help him out of this.
As for the restaurant's income declining I don't see Grace stealing that much. I think someone else is going on, like Macario and Fausto doing something behind the scenes.
Memo thanks Daniela for believing him! He swears he will provide evidence that everything he is telling her is the truth. He doesn’t want Isabela to wrestle with the trauma of believing her biological mother was a terrible person. Daniela tearfully retorts that she didn’t know what to think! She thought Memo was taking advantage of her since he knew that she had fallen in love with him; her anger overcame her emotions and her rationale. Memo admits he was angry at her too; it seemed as if she hated him. Dani admits that she could not hate him; all she needed was to look into his eyes, like this…to know that she was wrong. Memo apologizes for everything he said to her; he was blinded by his emotions and spoke without thinking. Dani suggests that they forget it all. Memo agrees; they should start all over again. They are mere inches apart, staring deeply into each other’s eyes. Everyone in the room has faded, they are alone in their minds and hearts, their love and longing are palpable. They are in a trance as she leans into him, oh so close, lips mere inches apart. Daniela murmurs that Memo better not even think of kissing her…because if he comes closer, she won’t be able to hold herself back! Memo isn’t going to kiss her even though he is dying to feel her lips on his. With sheer will, Daniela pulls back as Memo nervously scratches. Daniela picks up the bill and hands it to Memo who promptly fans himself (a sweet light moment after an intense conversation that made me smile).
Fausto stares at Chuchita, looming over her as she cowers in fright. Visibly shaking, she says Daniela went to see a friend. Trying to intimidate her even further, he smirks that he doesn’t believe her; she is covering for Dani. Nostrils flaring in anger, he roars he is going to give her one last chance; did Daniela go to see the trailero? Her face frozen in fear, she cannot respond. He tells her to collect her belongings and get out; she’s fired.
Daniela wants to call Humberto to check on the children but Memo says Humberto has already texted him they are fine. Daniela happily notes that since the day they met, Chema and Isabela have become such good friends. Memo suggests they follow their example. Dani asks if he thinks it’s possible just to be friends. Memo thinks so. He believes they can transform the great love they have for each other and focus on the most important person to them both. Eyes brimming, Daniela smiles and nods “Isabela! They agree they will be very good friends and that they will make their daughter very happy. Entonces, amigos para siempre Memo declares as he puts his hand out as Daniela clasps it. They are both crying but smiling through their tears.
Lola is rolling down the highway when she sees a robbery on the side of the road. She doesn’t hesitate and pulls the rig to a dead stop. She tells Humberto to stay in the truck and watch Isa and Chema. Lola alights and fearlessly confronts the gun toting offender. He tells her to stay out of it but she scoffs that if he thinks he will yell at her and she’ll run off, he is dead wrong. Lola schools both perpetrators and with a series of fierce and fearless moves has incapacitated them. As they limp away, battered and bruised, Humberto, the kids (and viewerville) chant, “Super Lola La Trailera!”
Chuchita is packing up her belongings in a cardboard box when Leo calls. He is thrilled, sharing that Monica wants to record a duet with him! Chuchita cheers him on through her tears, telling him he deserves it (no he really doesn’t the patio frets). He has to cancel their plans tonight but promises to make it up to her by taking her to a lovely place tomorrow. He senses something is wrong and asks her if she is all right. She lies that she is and says it’s all the problems there that are getting to her. She asks Leo to get Monica’s autograph for her.
Diana
Chema and Isa are telling Amparo about superhero Lola. Amparo asks who she is and they say she is their grandfather’s friend. Lola is sitting with Humberto who tells him his grandchildren are a gift from heaven. Humberto agrees then states she really surprised them by going after the delinquents as she really put herself at risk. Lola thinks he says that because she is a woman; she is a trailera and knows how to defend herself; she doesn’t need a man to rescue her. Humberto tells her she is now his grandchildren’s hero. She thinks he did well too for defending his family. When he asks why Lola didn’t have a family, she replies she never found the right man. He takes her hand and puts his over hers. At that moment, Amparo arrives asking to be introduced to his friend.
Chuchita wants to wait so she can say goodbye to Daniela and Isabela but Fausto orders her to leave spewing that perhaps she’ll learn to respect the owners of whatever house she works at next.
His anger escalating, Fausto calls Ursula to ask if his wife is with Memo. Ursula says no, he is working. Fausto tells her to be more alert because he suspects that his wife and Memo are contacting each other again.
Humberto explains to Amparo that Lola is a longtime friend of he and Martina (Amparo’s mother). Actually, it was Lola who introduced them. Smiling, Amparo asks what brought her here so Lola replies that she came to look for work. Humberto tells her yes, she’s hired! He adds that his younger son quit and he needs someone to cover the longer trips. Lola says that the roads are her life and adventure her passion. She is hungry so Amparo will serve her most delicious dish. Humberto mentions Amparo’s good cooking—she even published a book!
Things are movin’ and groovin’ at party central. Lights flashing, an illuminated dance floor, characters on stilts, booze flowing freely and music blaring. Sebastian holds Lupita’s hand, telling his friends he is more in love than ever, introducing her as his novio. One says she is a legend as she stole the king of partying. Sebastian thinks Lupita is now part of his circle because his friends accepted her. That said, they don’t seem to pay any attention to her at all.
Lupita is thanking Sebastian for everything when lights, camera, drama, oh my! Este-demonio (thanks Rgv Chick) (Estefania) arrives. She pushes Lupita aside and kisses him, her red lipstick leaving its imprint as Sebastian and Lupita both stare. She has on a black sequined skirt, silver top and black shaggy boots.
We see a quick shot of the dark night skyline before zooming in on Grace’s pre-party preparations as she waits for JP. Yoyo ma thinks Grace is overdressed and warns Macario is getting suspicious about all her new clothes. Grace admonishes her mother to keep quiet about her stealing from the restaurant because Macario will want a cut. Grace has on a blue shaggy coat and white Herman Munster boots. I’ll stop there.
Diana
Sebastian thought Este was in Africa. San Paolo, Tokyo, she’s been traveling all over for two years she retorts. But she missed Mexico, beginning with him. She looks Lupita up and down and with a dismissive look asks who “this one” is. Sebastian introduces Lupita as his novia. Este scoffs things have changed and she never thought she’d live to see this day. She warns Lupita because Sebastian is terrible. She insults her outfit calling her a “mexinaco”. Before she goes to get a drink, she tells Lupita that it’s too bad she wasn’t there when he decided to make his commitment…she would have kept him for herself!
Sebastian tells Lupita that Este is crazy and not to listen to her. He swears he didn’t know she was coming. Lupita cries that she kissed him!
Isa and Dani arrive home, Isa chattering excitedly about her day, relating the story of marvelous Lola. Dani asks Isabela to put her pj’s on as she calls for Chuchita. Memo calls her and she tells him she is home and smilingly thanks him. Memo wishes he could have talked with Isa but knows she is still angry with him. Dani promises she will talk with Isa and he will see her tomorrow. He thanks her for going on the trip and as her back is turned, Fausto enters silently, hearing her say she had a good time while Memo counters it was an unforgettable trip. Good night Guillermo she says and turns around horrified as she hears Fausto spew that he was not wrong—she is again going out with the trailero!
At a home across town, Ursula confronts Memo asking how his trip was. He says fine but then she lowers the boom saying Dani’s husband called asking if he and Dani were together. She told him no because Memo promised he wouldn’t see the lizard behind her back. Memo admits he saw Daniela but earnestly says she called so they could talk about Isa. They are finally getting along and he can get his daughter back!
Fausto can’t believe Dani saw Memo after all they discovered about him. Dani explains that if she saw Memo it was because she was thinking of her daughter and decided to clear things up. Since Fausto refused to attend the meeting with the psychologist, she had no choice but to handle things herself. Memo was just as surprised as they were when he found out Olivia had been in prison. Fausto spits out that of course Memo was going to deny everything. What bothers him is that Dani believes everything Memo says! When he accuses Memo of knowing exactly how to manipulate her, Dani fiercely defends herself yelling that she is not dumb! She retorts they were very unfair to Memo; they never gave him the opportunity to defend himself! When Fausto gets further agitated, Daniela reminds him that Isa is in the house and she will not allow her to overhear them again!
Diana
Memo and Ursula have moved to the restaurant to continue their fight. He tries to explain that he and Dani are clearing up misunderstandings to ensure Isa’s well-being. He tries to assure her they are just friends but Ursu (rightly) wonders if Memo thinks she is going to believe him when they both know that woman wants him? Memo asks that she try and understand that what happened between him and Dani is in the past. She should know how painful it’s been for him to be away from Isa. She should be happy he will be close to her again. Next, Chuchita arrives, dragging her box behind her, asking for Leo. Memo asks why she is crying and Chuchita tells them Fausto ran her off because she refused to tell him anything. Amparo comes up behind her.
Monica and Leo are having a drink. Monica thinks Leo has a lot of talent and a bright future in the music business. She wants to collaborate with him on a song. Leo thinks he can write her the perfect song but she suggests they write it together. She moves closer, sliding her hand up his arm, saying it should be something romantic, sensual, and passionate. She kneels and then leaning over him drops her face closer to his for a kiss. He recoils, alarmed. He tells her he can’t; he has a novia and is very much in love with her. Her face mirrors her spurned displeasure.
Este is regaling Sebastian’s friends with stories as she reclines on a couch like Cleopatra. JuanPa, Gaby and Grace arrive. Seeing Lupita in tears, Gaby asks her what’s wrong and Lupita answers that she’s very uncomfortable. She cries that the first thing Este did when she arrived was to slither up to and onto her novio. JP who had recognized Este right away, tells her not to let it bother her. Lupita thinks Sebastian misses all of this! Spewing her venom, Grace comments that Este is very pretty and Lupita should worry. Gaby reassures Lupita and tells her to trust Sebas. Lupita tells Gaby that Stef called her a mexinaca and Gaby fumes.
Monica assures Leo that she was not trying to seduce him (LIAR!!). She then makes excuses to leave. Leo appreciated her invitation. When (clueless) Leo asks if he should send her the theme of a song, she says she needs to go to bed and stands up abruptly. Leo then asks for an autograph for Chuchita. Monica complies but silently fumes that no one ever tells her no! She warned him; he will live to regret this!
Fausto continues to torture Daniela. He wants to finish their conversation but Dani says they can do it later, she is going to ask Chuchita to make Isa dinner. Fausto tells her Jesusa no longer works there; he fired her! She turns to him very upset and asks him why. He replies that this is his house to which she retorts it is hers as well. He says Chuchita lied to him to cover for her. Dani thinks he is being unjust and demands that he apologize to Chuchita! She is going to return whether he likes it or not! Fausto refuses so Dani plays hardball warning him in a tone that leaves no doubt that if Chuchita doesn’t return, she will take her daughter and leave!
Diana
Fausto asks if Dani is serious. Dani warns him not to test her; first he ran JuanPa off and now Chuchita! Next, she will leave so he can live alone and no one will bother him. Fausto tells her that JP left on his own and this wouldn’t have happened if Chuchita hadn’t lied to him. Dani doesn’t need his permission to come and go as she pleases or to see her daughter’s biological father. Fausto spews that she is his wife! She counters that yes she is his wife but he is not her owner! She can make her own decisions! She reminds him that she asked she and he meet with Memo and he refused! Fausto thinks she is just looking for an excuse to see Memo. No, she is doing this for their daughter!
Este is holding center court with every eligible man scattered about her feet. She scornfully comments this must be a reunion of mexicanas. Gaby tells her they may be nacos but she should have just a shred of the dignity that they have! Gaby is relentless as Este continues her insults. JP asks them to calm down but to no avail. Este calls Gaby and Lupita nachos. Next, Grace gets involved, giving her two cents. Este asks Sebastian why he is rescuing animalitos from the streets. The line has been crossed and Grace goes wild, throwing a drink in her face. Este slaps Grace and next, Grace slugs Este! JP holds Grace back and Sebastian holds Este. The rumble is on!
Fausto thinks that the trailera is manipulating Dani again. Dani tells him not to treat her as a dummy. They condemned Memo without listening to him and not allowing him to defend himself…they only hurt their daughter. She asks him to try to understand and to think of their daughter. He tells her that allowing their daughter to be with that family is a mistake…she needs to open her eyes! She retorts that it is he who needs to open his eyes! They can’t pretend that Memo doesn’t exist because they are only hurting Isa. Whether they like it or not, Memo is Isa’s father and he will always be part of Isa’s life!
Leo is back at the restaurant comforting Chuchita. As Chuchita cries Fausto didn’t even let her say goodbye to Isabela, Leo kisses her hand as Ursula rolls her eyes.
Sebas tells Este she is still the same little girl she used to be. She reminds him that they were party royalty but since he met Lupita, he became boring and pathetic! Sebas tells her that she will not ruin his party to celebrate him and Lupita being novios. He tells her to leave! She grabs him saying just one more…kiss! Sebas tells Lupita that Este is crazy. He had absolutely no idea she had returned. Lupita thinks the party was a bad idea (no sh** sherlock). Sebas makes an announcement: the party’s over.
Diana
Fausto tells Dani that the trailero’s nephew is now attending Isa’s school and thinks Dani had something to do with it. Dani isn’t going to deprive Isa of her family who love her and adore her. Fausto mocks that Dani thinks everyone deserves the same opportunities (can you imagine viewerville marvels?) Dani tells him that they ARE all the same…and she is going to call Chuchita and tell her to return.
Leo is upset and asks Chuchita not to cry! Her consolation prize for being fired is ta da…Monica’s John Hancock on a used cocktail napkin! Oblivious Leo then suggests he ask Monica to hire Chuchita as her designer. Chuchita (smart woman that she is) thinks Monica already has renowned designers at her disposal. Mercifully, Daniela calls and wants her to come home. Chuchita smiles in relief saying Leo will bring her. Congratulations my love he tells her.
The partygoers are gone and Lupita and Sebastian are talking and she removes Este’s lipstick from his cheek. Sebastian wants to explain but Lupita is satisfied Sebastian chose her over his friends. Sebastian asserts he will always choose Lupita, over anyone! JP tells Grace that what she did was wrong but Grace spills her toxic liquid asserting that they are her only friends and they can count on her in good times and bad. Gaby reciprocates and Lupita thanks her for defending them. Sebas asks for help to clean up.
We end with a sweet scene of Daniela and Isabela at the table with a delicious strawberry treat in front of Isa. Isa wants to thank God for making mothers who are the best. Dani tells Isa that she saw her father today. Isa asks, “So then we are no longer angry with him?” Dani then explains that Memo didn’t know that her bio mother was in prison. He didn’t hurt her and Dani was wrong. Dani feels guilty that Isa is not close to Memo; she knows Isa misses him. Isa admits she does, very much…when they played he always made her laugh. Dani suggests that she will take Isa to Memo after school.
Diana
Rgv Chick masterfully recounted the dialog and events. Again, my deepest and most grateful appreciation for everything she does. The effort, the care, the time. Gracias amiga.
Something from the previous episode. I fell in love with the sun and moon coffee cups Lola and Humberto were drinking from at his home. Did anyone else notice them? I'm searching on line to find something similar. They were so lovely and cheerful.
Well, I wonder how long this truce will last before Fausto ruins everything. Yet again! :)
Diana
Diana, you're a genius.
That party was destined for something like this, since Estefania has been mentioned more than once. At least Sebas has gotten over her. However, Lupita still lacks the self-esteem necessary to put narcissistic, snobbish, self-proclaimed Hot Chicks in their place. Gaby handles things like this so much better.
Interesting that Estefania's clothes were just as ridiculous as Grace's.
After some thought I realized that Grace might have been pocketing all the dinero she was supposed to bring to the cash register, but I still wonder how much that would have been. If she is there full time it could have been as much as 20% of the full take. Who does the books? Somebody should notice when the income started dropping.
WTH is Gaby going to do with her life?
Leonardo has no clue what he is getting into. Monica is a predator; she'd cut his heart out and eat it raw. She is no comparison to stupid, spoiled Estefania: She plays the long game -- like Ursula and Yolanda -- and looks smarter than both of them.
Finally Daniela is getting a clue and made up with Memo. Those scenes were great. However it will still be a while before she realizes that Fausto spent his monthly allowances to fabricate the false evidence about Memo and Olivia. His cruelty to Jesusa is truly disgusting. He is guilty of everything he was accusing Memo of.
Last and best, Lola is a real breath of fresh air. She is so badass and Memo's family needs her. The sun and moon coffee mugs are a signal that this will be Humberto's new lady. She already loves his nietos and respects his daughter. The kids like her. A match made by Cupid.
Notes from the couch the whole banana edition
1. Julia calls Angel about the AnaS issue. He thinks she should come over so they can talk in person.
2. Rayo asks what could have happened that somebody would want to hurt Angel and what would Misael have to do with it. Homero knows Misael and Braulio were there and there was a third person that he cannot identify. Angel tells him it is okay if he cannot remember. Homero doesn't want to forget his children. He doesn't want to live without knowing who he is. Rayo suggest he continue telling her what he remembers so she can tell him later. He likes that idea. He thanks God that his children are with him.
3. After her confession to planting the drugs, Jero tells Ester that she has to accept that her son is dead. Ester knows that there is no justification for what she did but death snatched her most beloved person from her in the worst way possible. In tears, she adds that nobody knows what is has been like not being able to see her son for the very last time and then to be left with only his ashes. She cannot bear the fact that her son died all alone. Jero speaks up and tells her that Iván was not alone when he died. He was there with him and saw him die. She wants to know how. Jero recounts how when he got to the truck, he tried to free Iván from the wreckage but it was impossible. Seconds later, Iván died right in front of him. He closed his eyes and took the tag off his neck to notify his family. He had to get out of there quickly because the food truck was on fire. Then it exploded.
4. Mirna has been to the City Advisory Department who proved to be very helpful. There is a chance that they might even go with her to one of their lawyers to talk about filing charges. What Mirna found out is that Sergio didn't commit any crime. AnaS concludes he is your common swindler. Mirna needs some overwhelming evidence to see him charged. She needs to find other victims of his to prove they were all victims of the same scheme. That doesn't look like it would be easy to do since Sergio has disappeared. AnaS tells her she got her self stuck in a real mess.
5. Jero assures Ester that everything happened just the way he told her. He apologizes for not telling her when they met but when he saw her suffering the greatest pain a person could ever, all he wanted to do was spare her any more pain no matter how minor. Ester thanks him . . . for everything. Ester admits that the passage of time or her trying to go on is not helping anything. She still does not knows how she is going to learn to live without her son. He says he knows it is easy to say but she has to keep living and let Iván go. As long as she goes on remembering him, he will live within her. She agrees that she will never forget her son. She starts to talk about Denis. Jero interrupts her saying that Denis is part of her memory of Iván but is not a replacement. Nor is he an object that life is trying to compensate her with for the loss of her son Life owes her nothing. He is confident that Ester will be able to close her cycle with Iván and that she will apologize and make reparations to the people that she hurt. He adds that Cinthia's relapse was caused by the drugs that she planted in her sister's car. Jero leaves Ester alone and in tears.
6. Celeste notices that Braulio still hasn't left for work. He thinks he should have the luxury of arriving late once in a while after all he has done for the Funes company. She tells him she found this folder in the bedroom. He says it has some of his medical tests when they were trying to get pregnant. She can do what she wants with it. He leaves the house in a great mood literally dancing and chanting about them moving.
7. At her house with AnaS present, Mirna gives Angel and Rayo bad news that she cannot charge Sergio with anything because according to the law, he did nothing to her. Angel cannot see that being true. She just has not found the right thing to charge him with. Mirna is sick of him treating her like she is stupid. Mirna goes to answer the door. AnaS tells Angel to be easy on Mirna. She has been through a tough situation. He cannot stand seeing her act like she does. She is an adult woman. AnaS doesn't do a good job defending her telling Angel that when it comes to men, Mirna is silly, stupid, innocent. . . She imitates Mirna and they both laugh. Julia walks in and is clearly not happy to see AnaS.
8. Ester is walking outside and runs smack into Jorge the Psychic in a spiffy blue and white striped shirt. She excuses herself saying that she was thinking about some issues she has. He smiles and asks if she will excuse him. She smiles back.
9. Julia lets AnaS have it saying that she put that video up only to aggravate her. Julia is not happy that Angel knew about the video since yesterday and didn't inform her ASAP. He says he was dealing with his father. She tells AnaS to keep her nose out of her son's custody becausee it isn't a game. AnaS apologizes but she thinks that Misael has a right to his son. She is sorry if she went beyond some limit and offesr so take the video down. AnaS decides to get out of there. Julia asks if it isn't a little late to apologizes. Angel nicely tells Julia that AnaS did apologize and maybe she should let it be. Julia sees that as him taking AnaS's side and sarcastically remarks that they know each other so very well. She then remembers that AnaS told her that her relationship with Angel would end up failing. Well, she was right. it did fail. Julia leaves. Angel goes after her and in a fit of rage she admits to being jealous. Angel starts to smile. She tells him to stop smiling. She doesn't like to see him with AnaS. She refuses to suffer again because of a man. Angel swears to her that will never happen with him. He loves her. He understands that they each have situations to resolve before they can be together but they will resolve those situations. She reminds him they are free so if he wants to be with AnaS. . . . Angel tells her AnaS is the past and she is the future. Julia says they will see. She is so exasperated, she cannot open the door to leave and Angel has to help her.
10. Cinthia tells Jero that Ester recommended that she go back into rehab. She wants Jero's opinion. He thinks it would be good idea. Someone is at the door. it is Flavia with a pitcher of hot chocolate!!! Flavia sees that Jero is so down and depressed. She tells him he has to be strong. He agrees he has to be for his sons. She manages to turn the topic from what we leave our children to not wanting them to break up their partnership. Jero reminds her that they have talked about this all before. He tries to shut her down.
11. Jorge Flores the Psychic introduces himself to Ester and she to him. He says she is going to find what he is going to tell her to be strange. He says when they bumped into each other, he was able to see that she has a very heavy heart. It is the result of a great pain she has suffered and that her heart resents the loss of somebody she loved with all of her heart. He was a young man with a very noble heart. He can tell that he loved her deeply. He always pleased her because he didn't want to disappoint her. Ester says she knows who he is talking about. Jorge tells her she should be at peace because that person that she lost is still loving her from wherever he is. He only wants her to be a happy woman again. Ester politely says she doesn't know how he could tell her that.
12. Flavia still hasn't gotten the message and is going on about how what she feels for Jero is true. She only wants a chance with him. Jero finally tells her he has had enough and for her to stop already. Cinthia is now listening. Flavia says she is caring for Cinthia so she can change her reputation of being the ogre that everyone thinks she is. She isn't malicious like Ester. She asks if it isn't obvious that Ester was the one who planted the drugs in Laura's car. Jero tries to shush her but Cinthia overhears. Cinthia asks if it is true . Flavia says of course it is true. You would have to be blind not to realize it. Jero has heard enough. Flavia says "of course" and leaves in snit.
13. Cinthia cannot take what she has just heard. She thought that she mattered to Ester but she is nothing more than a liar. She made her lose her sister and her son. She is a hypocrite. Through her tears she repeats how much she hates Ester for everything she did to her.
14. Jorge tells Ester that her loss and pain are repairable and there is something that could help alleviate the loss of her loved one. He sees that she has a new chance at love. The problem is she is afraid to take it. He asks her to feel everything this man has to offer her in her heart. Ester isn't too sure. Jorge thinks it will help her get over her loss. A true and faithful love can make life more bearable and happy. He wishes her the best and leaves.
15. Jero tells Cinthia that he still thinks Ester is a good woman who made a mistake and that she will make it right with her. Cinthia tells him not to try to justify the nasty thing she did to her. Jero insists he hasn't. He knows Ester has gone through a very rough time and that led her to do something that was wrong. He asks Cinthia to calm down and try to understand. Cinthia appreciates how Jero always has a kind word for her. If it were up to her, Jero would have custody of her child. Jero appreciates her trust but that is not possible. He hopes she doesn't try to fight Ester for custody because in the long run, it is Denis who is going to suffer. Cinthia says it doesn't matter because who would give an addict like her custody?
16. At the Funes company, Bruno stops by Ester's desk. She tells him he had no calls, no messages. She is clearly preoccupied. He cannot see why she isn't in a good mood. Angel arrives saying the results of the audit will be available tomorrow. Braulio tells them both to have good day with a smile that just won't stop and leaves.
17. Julia is handing out orders at the park and sees another woman who seems to have more business than she. She asks her customers what is up. They tells her that people have been watching this video about her on social media. . .
18. Chepina gets into it again with Gina. She thinks she should go out and get a real job. Gina says she has a real job and soon all of these brands will want her doing commercials on her channel. Chepina gets to the crux of the mater. How much money can she make? Gina says now it is just an exchange of goods for her service but she is confident that money will be coming later. Chepina sees her living in a world of illusion. They argue on until Danny blows his grandfather's referee whistle.
19. Flavia is at home thinking that if Jero wants to break their partnership she will "take even the smile off his face" AKA taking absolutely everything she can. She cannot see how Jero is in love with Ester. Teo asks his mother if she is all right. She asks if he hasn't heard her. Of course, she is not okay! She says that all she needs is a teenager who doesn't pay any attention to his mother. Teo asks if he can talk to her. He has so many problems. The answer is no. She has problems of her own. She tells him to go talk to his father.
20. On his way out, Angel asks a serious looking Ester for some advice. He explains his situation with Julia. She gives it to him straight. He and Julia are adults who need to live their lives. Danny and the others should have no other option but to accept that he and Julia have decided to be together. From what she has seen, he and Julia have a half-baked relationship. They need to be serious. He thanks her for her advice which was a bit more direct than usual. He tells her to take the day off tomorrow to cure whatever is ailing her. She thanks him and hopes that tomorrow goes well for him and that the audit has no surprises.
21. Rayo gets a text from Teo saying that he doesn't have a good mother like others. Nothing is going on but he feels like he is nothing. Rayo texts that he is her friend. He is not nothing. He thanks her but he is convinced he is nobody to anyone. She wants to call him. He tells her to forget it. Nothing is wrong.
22. Max tells Ester that he has good news. He has filed her application for custody again. She says that is good. He asks why she isn't happier. She says she is very tired. The doorbell rings.
23. Ester opens the door and it is Cinthia calling her a liar. She cannot believe she was trying to steal her child. In front of Max, Ester admits that she did something very bad. It is unforgivable the position she put her sister in but she is not the only one at fault. Max tells Ester that he cannot believe what she did. Ester says it is her fault but asks Max has to also assume some of the responsibility. He was an absent father whose son never confided in him that he had a son of his own. As for Cinthia, Ester reminds her that she passed Denis off as somebody else's kid before telling him that Iván was his father. Then she dumped Denis on her to get rid of him. Following that, her sister's application for custody entered the system just when hers did. Can Cinthia say she had nothing to do with that? She knows that Cinthia can't . If Ester is going to assume responsibility for her mistakes, then both of them need to also. She adds that as of today, Cinthia is not capable of taking care of her child. Cinthia admits it hurts her to say so but she has to agree. Ester hopes that Cinthia can forgive her. She swears on the memory of her son how very sorry she is for what she did. Cinthia leaves.
24. AnaS is meeting with Mirna at the Funes house today. Mirna says she cannot leave because she has to care for her father but has to admit that it is not a burden. He needs her. AnaS has some "shocking" news. AnaS reminds her that she was going to try to find other women who Sergio victimized. She has found a girl who told her that Sergio has an accomplice who is also his ex. She will never guess who it is! Doris!!
25. Julia discusses the custody issue with Chepina and Gina. She is afraid that Misael will pull out all stops to end up with Danny. Chepina says she has to win. Rodolfo has told her that Misael had filled Danny's head with spider webs (to put it nicely). If the court does an interview with Danny, that will become crystal clear. Julia knows because she has had to tell Danny that what he was saying was very bad. Gina says there are plenty of neighbors who know that Julia is a great mom. Julia knows that she will need to prove legally that Misael cannot and should not be with her son. With that said, Julia is sick of having Misael always getting his own way and having to keep her distance from Angel.
26. Mirna laments having trusted Doris. She was surely telling that greasy con artist everything she told her. Mirna says she is finally realizing what happened but it is all too late. AnaS says at least she took care of her father for a while. Now it it up to Mirna. AnaS says she will find a nurse she can trust. Gina turns her down saying the last person she recommended ended up being an ex-con. Mirna asks why she ever recommended Armando in the first place. AnaS says she didn't find out he was an ex-con until afterwards. The wheels are turning in Mirna's head. She asks What was that about?? AnaS turns her attention to Gina's social media attacks on her.
27. Jero and his sons are around the supper table talking about what Lenar liked to eat. Jero says talking about her keeps her alive in their hearts. The boys went to visit Donato and he is improving. Jero is glad to hear that. Jero needs to talk to him about many things including the house. He is looking for the right time. Ebe says Donato is very depressed.
28. Cinthia calls Jero to tell him she is going back into rehab tomorrow. He offers to go over with her. He doesn't see that she has her duffel bag all packed as she makes the call.
29. The next morning, Chepina tells Gina that Rodolfo and Julia went flying out of there to take Danny to school. She hopes that things work out for her sister because there is always something going on with one or the other of them. Suddenly, Gina starts getting nasty comments on her social media calling her a fake vegan, etc. Gina tells Chepina that AnaS has gotten her followers to make fun of her. She then mentions that she put out a commercial for the vegan mayo saying it would taste good on ham sandwiches and milanesa (breaded meat) sandwiches. Chepina cannot stop laughing. She almost chokes on her food. Gina doesn't get the joke.
30. Celeste is offering Julia anything that she will not be taking with her in her move. Julia thanks her but isn't convinced she should be moving. She asks if she and Brauio are having any differences. Celeste says no. They are doing well. Celeste is concerned because Julia seems down all because of Misael. Julia still cannot get it out ofter head that he was not driving the truck and she cannot figure out who was no matter how many times she thinks about it. She says Angel WAS the best support she had. Celeste asks why "WAS"? Julia says they are not doing very well right now. Celeste asks where they found the bloody gauze. Julia says Celeste knows already. It was in that apartment. Celeste asks where it was located and if she knows how to get there.
31. Brauio is on the phone talking to Misael. He tells him everything he dreamed about is now in his reach. He calms Misael's fears saying that things are not just going well but better that what they had hoped for. He says he is telling Misael the truth. There is no turning back this time. The wait is over.
32. At Angel's house, he is leaving for work. Mirna is getting her father more coffee. He asks if she would get him his sweater first. While she is gone, Homero tells Rayo that he has been thinking about his past, his life. Does she know what he would like? He would like to tell her all of his memories before he forgets them. She starts to tell him that they have been doing that already but then stops herself. She says she would love to write down all of his memories with every single detail. Homero looks very happy. She has just thought a title "Don Homero Funes' Memories". He wants something more like "El ingenious "Fidalgo" (Hidalgo) . . .( he is referring to the title of don Quixote: "The Ingenious Nobleman Don Quixote). He starts a Spanish language history lesson about it being really "Fidalgo" and not "Hidalgo" because the letter "H" . . . Rayo has tuned him out to read a text from Teo. He is not going to school. He cannot take it anymore. He was on his way to school but doesn't know here he is going. He can't think of any place he would like to be.
33. Ester explains that the DNA tests showed that the blood that they found was not Misael's. He is AB negative. That type of blood is not very common. Celeste asks who could have been driving. Julia thinks it must be somebody close to Misael because they knew about that apartment in the neighborhood. They were present at the accident. They must know about the money that Misael stole. They must have been his accomplice. Celeste asks what the blood type was that they found on the gauze and in the food truck. Julia says it was A positive. Celeste says if she finds out anything, she will let Julia know.
34. Jero goes back to his place in the morning only to find that Cinthia is long gone. He gets a message from her. She wants him to know that she is gone but doesn't want to be ungrateful. She is not going to the rehab center because she doesn't think that there is any help for her. So, she cannot stay there either. She is grateful for all the support and affection that Jero gave her. He is the only person who has been like that with her and has believed in her. In spite of all of that and the pain in her heart she is feeling, she needs to go away. She tells him not to go looking for her. She herself doesn't know where she is going. Jero goes running from the apartment.
35. Ester goes to the police where she is told that Laura was arrested for drug possession but there were no charges because of a lack of evidence. She was freed. Ester says that she knows and thanks God that Laura didn't pay for something she didn't do. The officer looks confused. Ester confesses to being the one who planted drugs in that woman's car.
36. AnaS tells Angel that she has the results of the audit in her hands. Does he want them all at once? He says he can wait until everyone is there. She tempts him with a spoiler. He would rather wait until Braulio gets there. She hands him the results and says that she cannot wait to see the surprise on his face when he finds out that his loyal Braulio has been swindling the company out of money for years. Angel looks worried and starts looking at the results as a jubilant Braulio breezes into the room announcing that he is there ready to hear the results of the audit.
Please feel free to add anything I left out.
Urban, thank you for your lovely comment.
"Interesting that Estefania's clothes were just as ridiculous as Grace's" was oh so true. From one fashion oh please don't to the next!
Este's appearance wasn't a surprise but her crass and classless speech and demeanor was. In contrast, "Monica is a predator; she'd cut his heart out and eat it raw" made me laugh but your description was spot on!!
"Last and best, Lola is a real breath of fresh air. She is so badass and Memo's family needs her. The sun and moon coffee mugs are a signal that this will be Humberto's new lady. She already loves his nietos and respects his daughter. The kids like her. A match made by Cupid". Wonderfully stated and so good I had to repeat it in its entirety.
Ahhh, so the mugs were symbolic and it appears happily so. Sometimes, it's the small details that are the most significant.
After the way Fausto treated Daniela, there is no way she could ever think of going back with him. Is there?? But as we are barely two-thirds of the way through, I would be saddened but not surprised if the writers threaten to "go there".
Karen better get herself back here.
Diana
Diana, another masterpiece!!! Thank you! I am in awe of how you paint every motion so clearly and compassionately with your words - for the ones who need compassion! :)
From the second I heard Estefania's voice I was thinking, where have I heard that voice recently, so I looked it up and it's the same actress who played Jessica on La Herencenia. She looks so different I wouldn't have recognized her!
I'm probably odd man out and a kill joy but during Lola's whole basass scene all I could think was how reckless and dangerous that was and how traumatizing it would be for Isa and Chema if the bad guys had shot and they'd had to watch Lola getting killed right in front of them. It's a novela so it worked out and Lola is our newest superhero, but IRL I don't think that was a wise thing to do.
I agree with Urban that Lupita needs more confidence. Estefania was unpleasant but Sebas wasn't falling at her feet or charmed by any of her BS, Lupita shouldn't have felt threatened to the point of tears!
It's nice to see Dani come around and a total beanie moment to think that after months of no contact on the very first day Memo and Dani talk, Falso is having her followed and is so convinced they are seeing each other again that he's tearing down and firing Chuchita and calling Ursa, and Memo and Dani are 'caught'!
Chuchita really should get a new job anyway, not with Monica! Working for Falso is a nightmare and she shouldn't put up with his tantrums. I do want Karen to come back!! Someone needs to come tell the jackass off and she's the only one willing to do it!!! But I hope she comes back in love with someone else and totally immune to Falso's charms and other BS.
Yay! Best scene in this episode for me was seeing Ester confessing to the police however that still does not absolve her for assisting Cinthia along her road to hell. So, for me to be a happy camper, Cinthia needs to return and be a part of her son’s life until she is capable of being a self-sufficient parent.
For me, the funniest scene was Gina not realizing there was a problem illustrating vegan mayo being used on meat sandwiches. She and Mirna could be twins. I also enjoyed Chepina asking her how she was going to make money.
Okay, Celeste has the results of Braulio’s medical tests. Might there be a blood type lurking?
I was waiting for Braulio to click his heels as hexwent dancing out of the apartment!
More later. The sun us out and the road beckons. ; )
Thank you for your very kind words Darcy!
I thought Este looked familiar and appreciate your noting where we've seen her. She is well suited to bad girl roles which are likely much more fun to play.
We all need a hero and Lola is such a breath of fresh air! Sometimes the ones you'd least expect turn out to be the most perfect and most endearing.
Lupita is a lovely young woman, but frankly, she needs to grow up. She can't burst into tears and take offense every time something comes up to rock her and Sebastian's boat. Let's face it, he has a history and there will be some turbulence. Sink or swim.
I don't know how Dani can even stand to be in the same room as Fausto. His ranting and raving would wear down the staunchest soul.
"It's nice to see Dani come around and a total beanie moment to think that after months of no contact on the very first day Memo and Dani talk, Falso is having her followed and is so convinced they are seeing each other again that he's tearing down and firing Chuchita and calling Ursa, and Memo and Dani are 'caught'!" Yes, exactly!! I am crossing my fingers Dani stays strong. And never takes Fausto at his word!
Diana
Jarifa, your wisdom and insight shone like a beacon of bright light in every word that you wrote. You need look no further than “He wants something more like "El Ingenioso Fidalgo" (Hidalgo) .(he is referring to the title of don Quixote: "The Ingenious Nobleman Don Quixote)”.
Jero meted out just the right amount of truth. “He adds that Cinthia's relapse was caused by the drugs that she planted in her sister's car. Jero leaves Ester alone and in tears”. I like to think Ester would have eventually admitted what she did, but I’m not positive. I cannot help but feel her reaction was caused mostly by shame, the fact she was caught.
“He is confident that Ester will be able to close her cycle with Ivan and that she will apologize and make reparations to the people that she hurt”. You can want one to do the right thing, you can shame them into uttering the words, you cannot make their heart truly feel and mean what they say.
“He hopes she doesn't try to fight Ester for custody because in the long run, it is Denis who is going to suffer. Cinthia says it doesn't matter because who would give an addict like her custody?” Again, I’m uncomfortable. We will never know if Cinthia would have relapsed or not. Everything Ester threw up in Cinthia’s face was true but is the fact that Ester committed a crime just going to be glossed over? This is very unsettling.
As usual, you presented the perfect solution: “…Ester confessing to the police however that still does not absolve her for assisting Cinthia along her road to hell. So, for me to be a happy camper, Cinthia needs to return and be a part of her son’s life until she is capable of being a self-sufficient parent.” Amen.
Bless magical Jorge.
Julia WAS jealous and Angel (with his high wattage smile) teasing her was sweet.
Rayo has saved Homero and Mati. Will she be able to save Teo as well?
“Ebe says Donato is very depressed”. An understatement. Let’s hope preening peacock Braulio is locked up soon so that Celeste can start a new life. With Donato.
Jarifa, you are amazing. Thank you!
Diana
Diana, my (literary) Wonder Woman, thank you!! You took a plain and dry burger and made it into a delicious, juicy WHOPPER! So many eloquent and well-written lines, but my hands down favorite was--
They are mere inches apart, staring deeply into each other’s eyes. Everyone in the room has faded, they are alone in their minds and hearts, their love and longing are palpable. They are in a trance as she leans into him, oh so close, lips mere inches apart. Wow! Just Wow!
I do enjoy watching Dani and Memo together when they aren't at odds. :-) And yes, Darcy, my beanie went on right away!
Urban, "Lupita still lacks the self-esteem necessary to put narcissistic, snobbish, self-proclaimed Hot Chicks in their place." Exactly!! and let's face it, she could have chosen something better to wear. We've seen her dress up before (i.e, Memo's wedding) and though her hairstyle remains the same at least the dresses have been much nicer. Why didn't Gaby give her some tips?!
I figured Stef was going to be a spoiled little rich girl but she is SO much worse!! Is she related to Fausto?
Lola is definitely a nice breath of fresh air! I had no clue nor did I notice the mugs (I'll have to go back and take a look), but I had a feeling Lola would be Humberto's "partner." Let's hope the writers let her get there.
Gracias, Diana. Your recap is awesome, down to the finest detail. Among my favorites:
- "Super Lola La Trailera"
- "Lupita is thanking Sebastian for everything when lights, camera, drama, oh my! Este-demonio (thanks Rgv Chick) [Rgv Chick, I love it!] (Estefania) arrives.
- "Yoyo ma"
- "Grace has on a blue shaggy coat and white Herman Munster boots. I’ll stop there. "
Yay! Dani has recovered from her 5-month brain freeze. I'm glad she got Chuchita's job back. Chuchita, hurry up and get that design degree and quit.
You go Lola! Darcy, I too have issues with her confronting a thug that's armed with a gun though. Kids, don't try this at home. Honestly, Lola can plainly impress me driving the rig, changing its tires, and catching a meal in a truck stop packed with nothing but men.
Sebas, this b**** was your novia? Where does she come off insulting "Mexi-" anything when she's "in" Mexico? ITA Lupita shouldn't have been crying since Sebas wasn't buying what Estephania was selling. But this is Lupita's first novio and her first boy-girl party.
Poor Leo. He idolizes Monica, but I suspect her stardom is fading and she's after him because she needs his fresh talent to revive it -- in addition to his cuteness.
Rgv Chick, you are so very kind and generous.
"I do enjoy watching Dani and Memo together when they aren't at odds. :-)" is exactly right! Watching Daniela's eyes light up and Memo's broad smile as they talk sweetly and civilly, even for a few moments, definitely warms the soul. I hope they never, ever revert to hurling those heart wrenching accusations at each other again.
From the longing expression Sebastian used to get when discussing Este, I expected her to be elegant, poised and beautiful. So much for that.
Love Lola! She blew in from nowhere (so to speak) and I couldn't be happier. What a wonderful addition to the family she will make!
Diana
Niecie, we've "known" each other for many years now and I had a feeling that if anyone would laugh at "Yoyo ma" it would be you. So happy you did!
"Sebas, this b**** was your novia? Where does she come off insulting "Mexi-" anything when she's "in" Mexico?" could not have been better stated. Growing up, the sternest criticism my grandmother would utter was that they were "common". 'Nuff said.
Great observation that Monica's "stardom" is fading. Leo's sweet and trusting nature is making him such an easy target!
Diana
Thanks, Diane and RGV Chick, that was great. I enjoyed the first scene with Dani and Memo pledging friendship over their love. Your retelling of it brought the whole scene back to life. Beautiful writing!
How can Dani stand Fausto. All that yelling would make me leave! I felt so sorry for Chuchita. Fausto must need throat treatments after his scenes! I tried to write the word lozengers, but I’m a terrible speller!
Lola is wonderful, perfect for Humberto. I hope there’s a true romance. My hope is she will recognize Ursula, and remember Cesar. It would be great for that truth to come out.
Poor innocent Leo. Monica is going to try and destroy him.
And we knew the party would be a disaster but it ended with the friends still being friends. I can’t believe Grace actually told her mom not to tell her dad she was stealing as he would want a cut! She knows her dad well!
What were Ursula and Mac talking about when Memo walked in? I think it was at the end.
Liz
Jarifa, I enjoyed your “whole banana” edition of notes from the couch! So now they know that Braulio is a crook. Hopefully that will mean the whole signing over the shares by Homero will not count! I can’t believe how Braulio was dancing around and not worried about the audit. Even if he now owns the whole company I’m sure he can be charged with embezzlement.
I hope Cinthia comes back and Ester can take a backseat to Cinthia regarding Denis.
Flavia needs to notice her son. Max too! I really think he might try and kill himself. Maybe an attempt would wake them both up to how selfish they’ve been.
Celeste has Braulio’s blood type in those papers. I hope she moves forward with what she suspects. I’m pretty sure she’s been suspecting something’s not right for a while.
If Ana Sofia really wanted to apologize to Julia she would do it on her social media page. She is really destroying Julia’s livelihood.
Can’t wait till next week. Things will really start happening-for the good guys!!
Liz
Diana, thank you for replaying every moment as you described every scene . I looked up some photos online and was amazed by Grace's "look" . She got right into the rumble with Este , so I wonder if Grace will eventually be reformed .
Darcy, I never would have recognized Este as lazy, spoiled Jessica from Herencia. The half blonde, half brunette look with those bright red lips ...yikes .
Thanks so much Liz!
I'm very hopeful for Lola and Humberto. Fingers crossed!
And you are totally right in that the sisters and their romantic relationships survived intact despite everything that transpired at the party.
You asked about a scene at the end with Ursu and Macario talking before Memo arrived. I've been trying to remember but nothing is coming to mind. There was so much going on, I could very well have missed something. If I did, I apologize! If anyone can fill in, please do so!
Susanlynn, I'm unsure if Grace's support was simply for show. It would be nice if she did end up friends with Gaby and Lupita. She has grown up on the fringes of what is her family but had only Yoyo and Macario as role models. She could use some real warmth and caring.
Diana
Diana, that is what I was thinking . Grace has never known the love and closeness that the Santos family has for ach other . It would be nice to see her " let her hair down", tell the truth, and be accepted by her half siblings and drawn into that warm, loving fami!y. I always love a HEA. When in doubt , do the kindest thing .
I remember really disliking that scene with Ester when I first saw it because Sin talks about drugs and Ester is like 'oh but Max was an absent father.'. She wasn't wrong, but it felt too much like shegot defensive when the fact of the matter is she committed a crime. She acused Sin of not being honest and all I wanted to say was 'and who pretended to be looking for her, you nasty liar?' Ivan didn't tell Max anything, but nor did he trust Ester because he knew how she'd react. What an annoying woman. She told the police the truth but nothing will change because it was an anonymous call. I want to slap Gero too for trying to shush Flvia. Did he intend to wait till Ester decided she should admit to Sin what she's done? I agree with Flavia on one point: I have no idea how Geronimo could love Ester either.
How much longer is Flavia going to be horrible to her child? Angel and Ana S laughing at Mirna was annoying as was Angel's comment Julia should just 'let it be'. Put two and two together, Angel: sales on the Internet plus negative video from a popular influencer= less sales
Ester not even going to apologise to Sin and Sin having to come for Ester to admit the truth
convinces me I really see nothing positive about her that would make her at least somewhat tolerable. Geronimo saying 'la vida no te debe nada' was an interesting line. It sort of is the opposite of what people tell someone after something awful happens: that you get some compensation/comfort from life. This makes me think of a story from the Bible that had to do with this, though I can't remember what it was about exactly..
Jarifa, "The Whole Banana" is magnificent. It's great reliving this episode through your sharp writing. I can't wait for Braulio to (hopefully) lose that sickening smile when the truth comes out.
" Mirna is sick of him [Angel] treating her like she is stupid."
Angel deserves a medal for his silence after that statement. :>
Jero makes excuses and tries to cover for Ester. Looks like they will indeed wind up together. Jarifa, I agree in addition to confessing to the police Ester needs to find Cinthia and form a family with her (and understand the craziness of renaming Denis).
Julia's jealousy surprised me. But AnaSofi does have a talent for annoying one to their limits.
"He [Braulio] leaves the house in a great mood literally dancing and chanting about them moving." -- I can't wait for the bars to close in on this piece of @#$%!
Diana, I hope the writers see what you see. It would be so great if Donato and Celeste wound up together.
Diana, so glad you got a kick out of the Don Quixote reference. ITA that Jero "meted out just the right amount of truth." Guess we will have to see what Ester chooses to do with it. "Magical Jorge" appearing again was a surprise but a pleasant diversion.
Liz, I am all for things to "start happening for the good guys!!" The recent episodes have been so bleak. It would not surprise me if Teo tried to commit suicide. Both of his parents are out to lunch. It is time for Celeste to get in gear and do something because, as you said, she seems to have been suspecting something for a while.
waterlily, I, also, found Ester's attacks on Cinthia and Max to be out of line because grief or no grief, she chose to do what she did all on her own and it had nothing to do with the other two. Nobody was holding a gun to her head. if she is that mentally unbalanced, she needs to be under a doctor's care. I liked Jero telling Ester that life owed her nothing. It was time that she heard the truth.
Niecie, " I can't wait for the bars to close in on this piece of @#$%!" My sentiments exactly! Your comment about Angel deserving a medal made me laugh. I am right there with Diana and you thinking that Donato and Celeste would make a good couple. Celeste likes where she lives.
For memories and the beautiful people of some past novelas:
15 Top Entradas 2000-2020.
I'll comment on Vencer tomorrow.
Urban, thank you, I enjoyed the clip.
I hadn't started watching when many of these aired but I agree with most of what I did see including Pasion, Corazon Salvaje, Pasion y Poder, La Malquerida...I would have added Caer En Tentacion, Mi Pecado, El Nombre de Amor, El Color de la Pasion, Mi Marido tiene familia, Teresa, Amores Verdaderos and the Vencer series among others.
It's nice to see so many actors still in leading roles while younger ones have graduated into them as well.
Diana
Urban, the clip was great. Thanks for posting it.
Diana, I would have added “Mi marido tiene familia”, too. That intro always made me smile with Daniel Arenas and Zuria Vega. Along with that one, I would have included “La herencia” with the wonderful rendition of “Malagueña salerosa” by Angela Aguilar on the dancing horse. That was really special.
You're welcome!
There also should have been the one from El Derecho de Nacer but I guess that the original music video gets a lot of airplay.
While I'm at it, they should have also included this one.
Urban, that was before my TN viewing "time" but oh how handsome Jorge Salinas was! (and still is of course).
Adela Noriega was beautiful; loved the song.
Thank you for the link!
Diana
I think my favorite theme song was the opening of " Alborada." When that music started soaring , I was ready for a great story to unfold .
Some of these novelas are available complete on Vix.com gratis where you can see the ones that made our favorites famous.
Vencer #74
Good stuff, Jarifa.
AnaS apologizing? Hell will freeze over before she apologizes to anyone. She also has to get over herself. Angel may look like the perfect Ken doll to this Barbie Wanna-be, but that doesn't mean they were made for each other.
When will somebody dig up some real dirt about Flavia? I am so weary of her cruelty and greed. Not to mention her serious parenting failures. Her son is clearly in freefall and she doesn't give a flying damn.
I am not as tough on Ester as the rest of you because I know what living with an addict is like.
FYI, Danilo Carrera (Angel), Alexis Ayala (Braulio) and Marcos Montero (Misael) all were in Quererlo Todo. Montero played a cop.
The new Homero is Rodrigo Murray whom we all hated in Medicos.
Urban, what an eye you have! I knew Rodrigo looked familiar. Yes, he was very loathsome in Medicos.
Diana
Urban, thanks for the info about the new Homero. I knew that he looked familiar. I forget some of these shows quickly.
