Back to Ursa finding who knows what substance. Humberto barges in coming to see how she is and their conversation is only semi-hostile, it’s not friendly but you can detect the faint traces of the relationship these two once had. Humberto didn’t come to chit chat anyway; he came to tell Ursa that Mac is in the hospital, you know, in case she cares to go visit him! Ursa doesn’t of course, she’s dismayed to learn Mac is alive and she wasn’t successful in killing him! Now he can accuse her of attempted murder!
Lupita and Amparo meet in the hospital and cry about what a nightmare this is. It’s the worst they can imagine! Amparo lets Lupita know that Gaby was arrested and Lupita can’t believe it! Karen walks up behind them coldly asking how long it’s going to take for them to realize that they have nothing to do there, but Eugenio rebukes Karen and tells her to remember that Lupita is Sebas’s girlfriend. Lupita can be here and be with him as much as she wants to! Amparo says after the death of her mom this is the most painful thing she has experienced. She tells Lupita to stay with JP and Lupe says Amparo should go to Gaby, who needs her right now. Amparo should call Lupita if Gaby needs anything. Amparo leaves looking momentarily at Eugenio but not saying anything except excuse me. Karen glares at Lupita.
Yo can’t find Grace but Mac is oddly unconcerned considering Grace has all his money. He says when she runs out of money she’ll be back and then we’ll settle accounts! Yo has her 10 seconds of truth moment when she tells Mac if he’d been a good father Grace wouldn’t have run off, but the second Mac acts offended at the suggestion that Yo could possibly think this is his fault; that Yo backs way and coos how she can’t live without him and even gets down on her knees to massage his feet!! YUCK!
Eugenio says Karen shouldn’t have gone to the police without telling him but Karen said she had to make sure that Gaby paid for what she did. She took Sebastian from them!! Eugenio yells at her to shut up and not talk as if Sebas was dead, but Karen says he is. He’s gone, she heartlessly declares, his body could stay alive for years connected to those machines but he’s gone. Sooner or later dad is going to have to accept it. Eugenio refuses to accept that and Karen backs off just a tiny bit and inserts the knife somewhere else instead; asking Eugenio if he really believes he can continue a relationship with Amparo knowing that her daughter turned his son into a vegetable? Eugenio just looks away. Loreta who has arrived to take advantage of this tragedy choses this moment to approach and hug Eugenio offering her condolences.
Lupita is at Sebas’s bedside, crying and remembering his words to her as they made love for the first time. He promised to love her forever and not fail her.
Karen thanks Loreta for coming and claims a person like her is always a great support in a time like this. She says goodbye to dad. Eugenio can’t believe she’s leaving but she says, why stay? You have your view, I have mine and Sebastian is no longer with us. She shrugs and walks away. Loreta comes in again for a hug and then another as Eugenio shares his sorrow. Humberto and Lola arrive, noting the closeness of Loreta and Eugenio but saying nothing. Humberto asks how everyone is and after Eugenio updates them on JP and Sebas’s conditions, both Humberto and Lola give their sincere regrets for the way things are. Lola asks where the family is and Eugenio says they went with Gaby who was arrested. Humberto stumbles and appears to be having an episode.
Amparo gets in to see Gaby who is inconsolable and too upset about JP and Sebas to worry about the details of her getting released or not released. She feels like it’s unfair that she’s okay while JP and Sebas are suffering. She should be the one dead! Amparo says not to say that! Life has some hard lessons sometimes but they have to keep their faith!!!
Dani sits with JP who dreams about the accident and wakes suddenly, frightened. He talks about how Gaby was too upset to drive. It wasn’t safe, he asked her to slow down, he asked her stop but she didn’t listen to him!! This is all her fault! He lost his leg because of her! His future and his life!! (He looks alive and sounds whinny to me)
Isa is in Fausto’s car and trying to get out so she can go see Chema but of course father of the year won’t allow it and orders her to wait in the car. This jackass takes his daughter with him to scope out the land around Amparo’s restaurant and then tortures her with being so close to her cousin but still not allowed to see him. Fausto is there to meet up with none other than the future Mr. Este to talk about whatever it is he wants to do with the land he thinks he owns. Memo sees this catastrophe going down and Yo shows up at this moment too.
Karen goes to see Sandra and tells her in a very heartless way that Aaron is dead and that the police think he killed himself! Sandra doesn’t think that’s possible and believes Fausto must have done it, Karen agrees. Sandra cries over Aaron and just as I was wondering if she could possibly be surprised, she admits she always knew Aaron would end up this way but it still hurts. Karen says she’s sorry, though she doesn’t sound it, and says she knows how Sandra feels as she just lost her brother too. Sandra says Aaron told her he had a safety deposit box with all the proof of Fausto’s crimes that she was supposed to access if/when this happened. Karen wants to know what proof? Of Oliva? Sandra says not just that, proof of all the crimes Aaron and Fausto committed together, all the people Fausto has had Aaron kill for him!!! Cara de Impactada for Karen as she demands to know where this box is!!!
Fausto is telling Tony that they will be signing with the notary any day and as they are chatting Memo is quickly approaching the unaware men. Memo arrives just as Fausto says all of this is going to be his and he punches Fausto good! Fausto punches back, and the brawl is on! Unfortunately for Memo, Isa is there and when she sees him hit her ‘papa’ she runs screaming from the car and glaring angrily at Memo demanding to know why he’s hitting her daddy!!!
Karen is desperate to know where the proof is, but Sandra doesn’t know. Aaron never told her he always just said she’d know when the time was right. Karen deduces that whatever the plan was it probably had to do sending information to Sandra’s house where she has always lived. Sandra is worried about staying there, what if Fausto finds her? But Karen says Fausto never learned her address so she isn’t in danger here!
Isa cries and Satan pretends to comfort her. Memo offers to explain but Fausto accuses him of ruining their family and a bunch of other lies. He won’t let Memo talk to Isa and Memo tries to keep Fausto from leaving with Isa but as Fausto points out, Memo has no rights to Isa and can’t stop him. Memo calls out multiple times to a crying Isa and Fausto tells him he just dug his own tomb and he can forget about Isa forever!
Humberto tries to convince Lupita she needs to prepare herself. Sebas may not wake up for days or months. Lupita says it could be hours too! She believes Sebas is fighting for his life. Grandpa is the one who taught Lupita to have faith, he can’t tell her not to now. Unable to say anything else in the face of Lupita’s desperation to believe Humberto tells his granddaughter it will be as she says!
Memo is still wasting time fighting with Fausto who is insisting he’s going to protect Isa and make sure to keep her far away from Memo and these people where she doesn’t belong. Memo says his lawyers are going to petition and he’s going to get custody of Isa but Fausto just laughs. Memo doesn’t have the money or resources to fight Fausto, his lawyers will eat him for breakfast! Fausto gets into the car and drives away while Memo shouts, I love you to Isa. Memories of their short time together playing through Memo’s head as he helplessly watches the car disappear. Yo, who has been watching the entire thing leaves as well.
Ursa is changing Martin’s diaper and complaining about having an ever-present guard, she can take care of her son alone! Memo walks in on this interaction and is headed back out but wanted to give the baby a kiss. Ursa asks how the kids are and Memo says JP is alive but he lost his leg, Sebas is in a coma and Gaby is in jail! Ursa looks genuinely impacted by this news but not exactly sorry. Memo just thanks Nedila for watching Martin and Chema (LOL) and heads out the door.
Gaby is still crying and saying how she couldn’t even see JP and he must be hating her. His dreams, his career, it’s all over and it’s all her fault! Amparo tells her not to say that but Gaby can’t be comforted. Amparo is sure Gaby isn’t responsible but Gaby refuses to think of anything other than the pain she believes she caused. Sebas could die at any minute and JP’s life is changed forever she’s never going to be able to sleep peacefully again after what’s happened.
Leo calls Chuchita and gets the update which is that nothing has changed. Leo is frustrated that his obligations are never ending and Chuchita encourages him to remember he carries her love with him and Leo says he’ll come home as soon as he can. Chuchita hangs up and Dani encourages her to go the hospital cafeteria where she can watch Leo’s program. Dani assures her that she’ll be okay with JP.
Chuchita makes it to the café, and runs into Don Humerto. He is also excited to see Leo on TV. Monica comes out first actually wearing Chuchita’s design and she gives Chuchita a warm public acknowledgment in keeping with her promise. When the subject comes to her rumored romance with Leo, she lays it on even thicker saying how in love she is with him! The host next announces Leo as Leo Duran and he enters the stage and kisses Monica. Chuchita looks very upset and says nothing. Humberto is very upset and says every proud judgmental condemning thing under the sun and ushers Chuchita out of there so they don’t have to keep listening to this garage.
The song of Leo and Monica plays and Leo puts on the act for the audience, looking every bit the part of the cowboy in love. Gaby’s distress is a shocking contrast to that as she bangs on the prison bars and releasing her pain and helplessness. Amparo is making a little headway now into bucking Gaby up, swearing she’ll do everything she can to prove Gaby doesn’t belong in that cell (surely that means the car will be checked for mechanical failure, right?)
Humberto comes to talk to JP and Dani leaves them alone when JP nods that he’s willing to talk. Left alone, JP says he’s sorry but if Humberto came to talk about Gaby there’s nothing to say. Humberto tries anyway but JP is unwilling to budge. Gaby ruined his life and there’s nothing he can do for her. Humberto says that’s the pain talking and it’s good that JP let it out. JP says the worse part is he wants to hate Gaby and he can’t, because he loves her! He’s in love with the woman who destroyed his life.
Loreta tells Eugenio he’s not alone, and Eugenio should have asked Loreta to leave him alone; but he doesn’t. So, she’s able to assure him that she’s with him because she cares about him and he can count on her for anything he needs… Eugenio says nothing at all.
Chuchita approaches Loreta telling her about what happened with Humberto and Leo Duran, and I swear I love this woman for how she responses!!! She says she understands that’s a blow for Humberto but it’s time for him to let go of all his anger!!! (Preach sister!!) After all, his heart is delicate.
Loreta is finally leaving after giving Eugenio a kiss on the cheek and after she goes Dani approaches Eugenio. It’s hard to ask but Dani knows Eugenio is a fair man and she wants him to help Gaby. Eugenio says this situation is horrible and it breaks his heart to think that history is repeating himself – at this point, I’m pretty sure he’s referring to the history of not checking the wreckage for mechanical failures because we aren’t hearing anyone talk about any sort of investigation. Eugenio and Dani even talk about the helicopter accident they must not have investigated. Eugenio agrees to do what he can to help Gaby and Dani thanks him, he’s a good man!
Humberto comes down the hall and Eugenio tells him he’s going to support Gaby; he hopes they drop all the charges. Humberto thanks him in the name of his family and promptly passes out! (Good thing he’s in a hospital)
Memo visits Gaby in jail and tells her they are doing everything they can to get her out of jail on bail! Gaby is grateful but she wonders where they are going to get the money for that. Memo says to let him worry about that. They are working on it now and he’s going to try and make sure she doesn’t spend even a single night in jail.
Martin wakes up and Nelida tends to him with Ursa looking on. Nelida sweet talks the baby and Ursa offers to go make his bottle. I got a sinking, horrified feeling in my stomach the second she offered and sure enough…I don’t even want to type this… it’s Martin himself who is going to be the victim of whatever substance it is Ursa has procured!!! (There are no words!!) Unwitting Nelida hands over the defenseless Martin to be fed.
Speaking of useless heartless creatures, Fausto is chatting with Karen telling her all about his new plan to have Memo arrested for assault!!! And he’s somehow going to get a theft charge mixed up in this too? I’m not sure what he’s planning to accuse Memo of stealing but that’s his plan. As an extra kick to the head, Fausto points out that Isa herself was a witness and can testify that Memo assaulted him!!! (The only consolation I can take from this night so far is how jacked up Fausto’s face looks, good job Memo!) Karen in turn tells Fausto that Sebas is practically dead and of course blames it all on Gaby. But she mentioned Gaby was driving Dani’s car so Fausto knows better. Sebas is in a coma, JP lost a leg and Gaby is in jail! Fausto looks perhaps a little surprised but not dismayed at all… SATAN!
Another scene, two more horrible people.. Mac and Yo chat about her mission to follow Fausto and learn what he’s up to. Yo even figured out where Fausto is hiding Isa!!! Mac wants her to figure out a way to get a job working for Fausto – take advantage of the fact that he doesn’t know who Yo is and get even closer that way she’ll be able to find out if he plans something against Mac!
Tony does the officially asking for Este’s hand in marriage which Loreta agrees to of course. Este looks miserable and everyone else uncomfortable – it’s too late in the game to care about this. FF.
Lupita continues to sit by Sebas’s side and beg him to wake up and come back to her. Sebas is unresponsive.
Humberto apparently had a full-on heart attack because Eugenio is saying it’s lucky it happened here in the hospital. Eugenio and Chuchita try to comfort Lola while Dani comes to find out if the kids know about Berto and they know he’s scheduled for surgery but not about the most recent attack. Dani goes to call Memo just as he, Leo and Amparo are returning to the restaurant without Gaby. They couldn’t get her out on bail and Amparo is devastated. Memo tries to tell her to have faith but he’s barely got the words out before the phone rings with the news of the next crisis at hand. Memo says ‘What happened to my dad?’ which of course alerts Amparo and Leo to the fact that more black clouds are on the horizon.
Karen is still going off on Amparo and Gaby and how the worse thing that ever happened was daddy falling for that woman and Sebas dating her daughter; now Sebas is paying the price for it! Falso says they share their hatred of that damn family and very soon he is going to ruin it! He’s going to get their land and he’s going to see them out on the street if it’s the last thing he does!!! Aw, poor Falso can’t even finish the threat without his face hurting!!! GOOD! He is sure he’ll be able to take advantage of all this misery to convince Amparo to sign on the dotted line. Surely, with everything that’s going on she’s going to need money. Falso’s only concern is that Eugenio will do something to support Amparo financially and so he enlists Karen to do something to make sure she separates Eugenio and Amparo. Use Sebas’s accident to drive a wedge between them, Falso needs Amparo alone and desperate, so she’ll sell to him!
Chuchita tries to get JP to eat and encourages him to be grateful that he’s alive but nothing doing. It does him no good to be alive! He throws his food tray for emphasis! He’s incomplete and his dream of the Olympics is over! He does manage to apologize for his outburst but he says he can’t take this; his life is over! Over!
Gaby still in a jail cell cries as she remembers reconciling with JP just hours before tragedy struck.
Satan and Satan’s helpful continue to plot how to do even more damage. It’s so hard to listen to these two right now. Karen’s whining that now that Eugenio knows she’s Falso’s lover, he won’t listen to her and Falso is telling her that she’s daddy’s little girl and she knows how to manipulate him. Karen warns that Eugenio may turn against Falso at the company now but Falso is too arrogant to be worried.
Dani and Eugenio talk again about the inheritance and Falso’s continued insistence on keeping Isa from Dani. Dani even admits she offered to give Falso all the money to get Isa back but Eugenio says Dani can’t do that! It’s Isa’s inheritance! Dani is desperate but Eugenio says he won’t let Falso blackmail Dani, someone has to stop him!! He’s done enough damage to all of them. Dani just cries.
Leo, Amparo and Memo are crying too with this new revelation of Humberto’s attack, Memo encourages his siblings to be strong and remember that God won’t give them more than they can take! At that very moment, some officials show up to test how much Memo believes his own statement by telling him that Falso has filed charges against him for assault and theft and he has to come with them. Leo and Amparo are upset of course, but Memo agrees to cooperate. Before he can, this no good, very bad day gets oh so much worse as Ursa runs in hysterically yelling for Memo to come quickly because something is wrong with Martin!!! He vomited and she can’t wake him up!!! Memo tries to run to Martin but the police officers stop him??? (In what world, would the police not run to an infant in distress? This is too much for my beanie) Ursa continues her performance seemingly oblivious to the presence of the cops as she just keeps begging Memo to do something because she doesn’t want Martin to die!!
And there we leave things until tomorrow night when we learn what new horrors may await us.
Another bleak night full of pain and fathomless evil - Ursa's dark side is now pitch black! Since there isn't much positive to say at the moment I wanted to point out the positive I noticed now while I'm thinking about it. As we've been commenting there was been some fantastic acting throughout this show by several actors and tonight Karla Esquivel (Gaby) took her turn. Her performance of Gaby's anguish and heartbreak as she was caged in that jail cell was so convincing that I wanted to cry with her! Absolutely a A+ performance!
Darcy, tonight was an endless torrent of tears and misery yet you took on every demonic event with fierce strength and determination. From one torturous event to the next, you battled valiantly and captured every word and deed that unfolded before our shocked and horrified eyes. Powerfully and admirably done.
Evil was omnipresent tonight and makes one wonder how much the human heart and spirit can endure.
I cannot fathom what Ursula was trying to do by making Martin ill. I say “ill” because it seemed she carefully measured the drops and that if she wanted to kill her own son, would not have heeded how much she gave him. But I am merely hazarding a guess. As you pointed out, the police not rushing to Martin’s aid was unconscionable. Ursula completely ignored them, screaming wolf to a by now almost comatose Memo was confusing. I do believe Martin will recover. He has to.
“Ursa looks genuinely impacted by this news but not exactly sorry” and “Fausto looks perhaps a little surprised but not dismayed at all… SATAN!” captured both of their reactions to the “accident” perfectly.
Eugenio looked so exhausted and tired; I was certain he was going to keel over. Humberto’s collapse was imminent as he has been holding his arm wincing in pain in every recent episode. He finally succumbed but in the right place.
I was happy to see Lupita talking so lovingly to Sebastian. I do believe that some in a comatose state can hear what is being said to them. Lupita is luring him back to her. To life.
When the crash is proven to be intentional (IF they ever look at the car which it doesn’t appear to have happened as you noted), that will likely alleviate most of JuanPa’s resentment toward Gaby. But will there be residual anger?
“Speaking of useless heartless creatures”, Fausto’s twisting the knife in Isabela’s heart about Memo yet again was sickening.
Karen desperately wants the “evidence” on Fausto Aaron left behind. It appears he was smart enough not to give Sandra details but assure her it will show up when the time is right. I only hope it isn’t sent to Karen who will likely destroy it.
Loreta circling Eugenio like the predatory creature she is was nauseating.
Gaby is inconsolable but thankfully she has a strong, willful mother to see her through.
And yes Darcy, Karla/Gaby's performance was heartbreaking.
Diana
Great work, Darcy. This was a seriously bleak episode.
Fausto's plan to emotionally destroy Amparo is about as demonic as it gets. She is the emotional refuge for her family which BTW is the definition of her name. Daniela is much like her. They are the two good living mothers in this tale. All the others -- Loreta, Yolanda, and Ursula -- are toxic. For all we know Fausto's mother could have been toxic as well.
Which explains but does not excuse his kind of psychosis. He truly hates women or he would not be doing what he does. Notice that he doesn't even have friends. He was also an only child. Only-children who don't acquire friends are in serious trouble both socially and emotionally.
Both Fausto and Karen belonged in the manicomio before the curtain went up on this tale. Ursula may have a chemical imbalance or a brain abnormality, something she should have looked into when her mother died.
Totally agree about Karla Esquivel's performance. IRL she is 25 years old. Give her a lead role; she's earned it!
Lupita is willing Sebas back to life. I hope we -- and Eugenio -- don't have to wait much longer.
Thanks Darcy, great work on another bleak episode. How much more can go wrong?
I was shocked that Ursula was drugging her own baby. Not sure of the purpose of that. What will it get her? If the baby has to go to the hospital the doctors may discover the drug. And why does Ursula have it? I don’t remember her ever using it before.
I’m almost sure Karen will get her hands on Aaron’s proof of what they’ve done. But if she reads it she’ll learn it was Fausto’s fault that her mother died. I wonder if that will matter to her.
I am ready for all the evil to be revealed but the bad guys are plotting even more evil.
What did Memo steal from Fausto. I’m thinking it’s a made up charge.
Leo was a bit too lovey dovey with Monica. It looked like he took the lead in kissing her.
Liz
Darcy, wow, how did you get through that valley of doom and manage to report every evil turn of events? Thank you for soldiering on through the evil and despair.
Poor, young Lupy. If only we could will our loved ones back to life. Que lastima.
Okay...when will the writers end this late game onslaught of horrors and turn the corner where the villains will finally lose control and start getting squashed by anvils. This show has become extraordinarily harsh and hopeless.I feel beaten up. Basta.
On a lighter note, Yo Kneeling to tenderly rub lotion on her tigre's big, gnarly feet made me snicker. I'll bet the actors had a laugh , too.
"On a lighter note, Yo Kneeling to tenderly rub lotion on her tigre's big, gnarly feet made me snicker. I'll bet the actors had a laugh , too".
And now I have too Susanlynn!

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: Just the Facts Edition
Part 1 of 4
Lamberto had definitely had it. He told Angela he should never have married her. She tried insulting him about having fallen in love with a servant. He demanded to know whom she had spent the night with. When she would not answer that he left, locking the door behind him. She screamed “I hate you!”
Aurora ran into Horacio who had talked with Carlos. He then offered to take Aurora out for dessert [only because he's looking for her to be his dessert] and off they went.
Elsa obviously was nauseous as she got up, put the napkin to her mouth with her back to her family, and sat down again. Armando asked if she was ill. She said she was disgusted with the broccoli because she was forced to eat it in the school. Elena and Gerardo arrived and she lied to her siblings, saying that their mother was well and asked for all of them. They asked if she would be home for New Year's and Armando said “No, doctor's orders.” Elena tried to prevent Gerardo and Armando from talking privately because she didn't want him to rat out the doctor “to provoke a conflict with my father.” [She really doesn't care about Estela at all.] When they returned to the dining room Gerardo asked if Armando could talk. Elena sat down and looked at her younger sisters with an expression that made Sofia turn to Elsa and roll her eyes. Elsa was on the alert.
Gerardo told it like it was: Deplorable conditions, bad treatment, and Estela was in a bad state. Armando stood on his “trust” of Leonidas and his medical judgment. Gerardo's judgment was that Estela was being abused and he didn't need to be a psychiatrist to see that. Armando was not moved by this, standing on his earlier statement. He said that Estela was getting worse because of getting upset at visitors so no more visits. Gerardo repeated to him that Estela said she discovered him in bed with his side piece. [Now predicting that there will be one or two more close calls before Gerardo finds out that this is Angela].
The younger kids had left the table. Elena was impatient for her father to come out of his study. She and Elsa talked about their mother. Elena said she wasn't well but who would be in that place. Elsa said she should be home but Elena said No, she needed to be in a hospital with medical specialists. She laughed at Elsa's comment that Estela needed love as well. She would not change her mind, emphasizing “My father knows what he's doing.” [Really, Elena? Your father isn't a doctor, so what would he really know?] She tried blaming Estela's condition on Elsa initiating this situation. Elsa accused her of being selfish before going upstairs.
Armando continued to say that Estela is ill and inventing things. She was paranoid and psychotic. Gerardo denied that, blaming the electroshock treatment. Armando kept insisting that Estela as not in her right mind and would not be coming home until she is well. Further he told Gerardo that he was not to mention this alleged mistress to anyone. Gerardo looked as though he had Armando's number and knew that this would be an uphill battle.
Gerardo took Aurora home where she could not get into Angela's room. Angela told her where the spare keys were.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: Just the Facts Edition
Part 2 of 4
Elsa went to see Padre Reynaldo. She handed him a bag [which probably contains the bare necessities of escape clothing] and told him she was pregnant. A minute later Guillermina arribed and stayed outside the door to eavesdrop. All she heard was the padre's words to be cautious because this could end in tragedy if Armando found out. She ducked out of sight until Elsa got up to leave. She said she was going back to the school and said goodbye to Guillermina. The padre was no fool. He asked Guillermina what she heard, knowing that she had a habit of listening to other people's conversations. She actually told him that he should report any problem of Elsa's to Armando. He told her he would do what was right. She lured him out of the rectory with an invitation to another parishioner's excellent pozole. However, her expression upon exiting was a sign that there would be major conflict on the horizon.
Armando called the Montero house to speak to Angela but got Aurora instead. She told him that Lamberto had locked Angela in her room. He wasn't home when she got back. Armando told her to tell her mother to call him when she could. He looked thoughtful and a little troubled when he ended the call.
Estela was electroshocked again. She looked like a zombie. Leonidas waved his hand before her half-open eyes. She had been awake. She looked up and hallucinated Armando, whom she begged to get her out of there. Leonidas told her “He is not here. I am your doctor.” Estela kept saying that she wanted her children. Leonidas kept saying he was not Armando. It was not the voice of a caring medical professional. He nodded to a nurse and s/he placed something into the IV bag. Estela began protesting. Estela was unconscious within seconds. [Where is Geraldo Rivera when we need him?]
Silvia had heard about what allegedly happened at the Montero house He was shocked at the accusation of attempted rape. She suggested he withdraw the report about the attempted homicide because justice is not always on the side of the innocent but on those who can buy it off.
Aurora had to pay a locksmith to get into Angela's room. Angela told her that Lamberto was upset because she had been out all night and they had fought. Aurora told her that Armando had called. Angela called him; the conversation was brief.
Carlos (who was slightly drunk) and Horacio talked. It was not clear whether they truly believed that Aurora had friend-zoned Horacio and was in love with Carlos.
Andres and Padre Reynaldo talked. The padre wanted to perform the marriage ceremony and congratulated Andres on the impending parenthood. He also advised him not to withdraw the charges against Angela because it is not right to let people like her – or Armando – get away with such things.
Gerardo went to Hector for help about Estela. He told him everything he knew and gave him a file with information.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: Just the Facts Edition
Part 3 of 4
Andres ran into Gerardo at the hotel. No hard feelings between them, even when Andres told him he filed charges against Angela. Gerardo knew that Andres was incapable of raping his own sister. After he left Antonia's shift ended and Andres left with her.
Aurora and Lamberto had an uncomfortable conversation that led nowhere. When Lamberto left Aurora's room she called Horacio to vent. He was already in his car and said he would be right over.
Andres called Elsa (who looked at the door before answering}. They talked about where they would live in Mexico City.
Gerardo went to his parents' house and questioned his mother about the night before. She gave him the taxicab fiction
Elena talked to Armando who wanted her to control Gerardo's access to anything about Estela's hospitalization. She said she tried but Elsa provoked his curiosity and won't let go about this. What happened that day was not to be repeated. She said that Gerardo was concerned and they all know that Estela is not well. Armando repeated himself about the treatment being correct and she was to remember that from this point on. She kissed him goodnight and went to her room.
Lamberto told Gerardo that the cab story is a lie and so was the story about the party that didn't exist. He said he thought that Angela had a lover. This provoked Gerardo to confide in his father about the sexless marriage that had only one incidence of relations. Lamberto told him that this was not good and was further shocked at Elena's refusal to talk about it.
The next morning Carlos told Hector that there may not be a wedding, stating the reasons. Hector wondered what was really going on.
Lamberto walked in on Angela drinking from the flask. After a few acidic comments from each he told her he was moving out of the house.
Renzo reported to Armando's office and was asked whether it was ready. Renzo said he found the right people and it was ready. Armando said to keep him informed. As Renzo opened the door to leave Guillermina was about to knock. She asked if she could come in. He told her to have a seat as Renzo closed the door. She told him that Elsa was talking the previous day to Padre Reynaldo and the advice she overheard. She didn't hear what the advice referred to. Hector barged in past the secretary.
Angela had the nerve to tell Lamberto that this was not a good time for his departure. [Actually he should have left before this story started]. Aurora came into the room and he said goodbye to her. Angela played the victim again, as though she was shocked by Aurora's statement that this was the best thing for the situation. Angela turned on her and told her to leave.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: Just the Facts Edition
Part 4 of 4
Armando dismissed Guillermina and closed the door behind her. Hector immediately got on him about Estela's incarceration in the cuckoo's nest. Armando tried telling him off the same way as everyone else had. Hector pulled rank as an old friend (since before Estela married Armando). When Armando began threatening him he reminded him that he had been arrested during the ongoing investigation into the Olmos case. He left Armando's office.
Aurora went to the Morales house and made up with Carlos.
Hector called Leonidas from his car, telling him he was visiting all the local hospitals. Since he is the mayor of the town Leonidas asked when he would like to come over. He told him a few hours. Leonidas agreed.
A grey car that appeared in the process of a tire change was on another road. A man in a black shirt and jeans flagged down an approaching black car, which stopped right behind it. It was an unmarked police vehicle with a flashing red and blue light inside. Fuentes came out of the car and the two men asked if he had a jack so they could change the tire. He said yes, then commented that they didn't look familiar. They said they were from The City. He started for his trunk, commenting on people who drive without it. Just as he opened his trunk they knocked him down and began punching and kicking him.
Lamberto told Padre Reynaldo – in the confessional booth – that he had no peace in his soul. He realized that he had major anger against Angela after years of knowing almost nothing about her and that he was in love with another woman. He was told to say five each Hail Maries and Our Fathers.
Andres talked to Luis to tell him that he would be returning with Elsa and Luis joked about whether she would recognize him. He also had the name of a psychiatrist and Andres said to give it to him later because he was out of the house.
Gerardo asked for Hector at the hotel. Antonia told him he wasn't in but left a file for him. She asked him whether he was angry that Andres filed a police report against Angela. Gerardo told her he wasn't, as it was the correct thing to do. However, he wasn't going to talk about it at that time. There was nothing but problems in his family's house since the revelation. She told him that he was nothing like his family, as he alone didn't have issues with this. A few comments later he asked if she wouldhave coffee with him. Since she was on duty she asked for a raincheck.
Renzo called Armando to report Mission Accomplished.
Leonidas and Hector completed the tour with the quack totally in the dark until Hector asked about Estela. Leonidas said No because “the treatment protocols are very strict.” Hector did not argue with him. They shook hands and Leonidas went back to his dungeon. Hector made a notation on his cell phone. He did not leave the building,
Renzo entered Armando's office and told him what happened. Armando smiled and handed a thick brown envelope.
Armando checked into Hector's hotel. Indefinitely, because he left home. Antonia handed him his key and said she would check him in. Moments later she told her mother.
Hector carefully entered Estela's room. She recognized him and asked him to get her out of there. He helped her into a wheelchair and the left the white room.
Shakespeare's most popular tragedy has had many faces in the more than four centuries since he penned this tale. I was reminded of this version that was made in 1971 during the Golden Age of Made-for-TV films. I cried like a fool at it.
While Televisa novelas don't usually end tragically, you never know. But at least this episode gives us some hope for now.
Urban, thank you for the marvelous recap.
"He then offered to take Aurora out for dessert [only because he's looking for her to be his dessert]" made me smile - thank you. We needed that.
Watching Estela receive another "treatment", awake as you noted, was cringeworthy.
Hero Hector to the rescue! I am crossing my fingers he manages to get Estela out. I love that he doesn't seem to be afraid of anthing or anyone, especially Armando.
Gerardo is unfraid to face issues head on, hence his conversation with Armando. He knew enough to tell Hector what was transpiring with Estela as well. He seems smart, intuitive and fair. What I will never understand is how he got together with Elena, let alone marry her. We haven't seen any warmth or caring toward anyone from her. Except toward Armando.
"Leonidas kept saying he was not Armando. It was not the voice of a caring medical professional". No, he is a monster.
Lamberto finally grew a spine and left.
Armando will find out about the pregnancy almost immediately. The time for the cell phone to remain hidden has expired.
Diana
Gracias, Darcy. Excellent recap of last night's pileup of horrors. I love that you made me laugh despite the awfulness, with "Humberto is very upset and says every proud judgmental condemning thing under the sun... -- Geesh! Humberto has no patience at all with his youngest child.
Shocking that Ursa would dope a baby, even if it's some mild, harmless substance. Nobody takes chances with a baby. She is truly insane.
JP is remembering what happened, so he should remember that Gaby said the brakes weren't working.
JP is devastated, overwhelmed, angry, sad, etc., but it's not like Gaby was drunk driving or reckless. He's too black and white for me. If Sebas were in his place, I can't see him turning on Lupita like this.
Good Day, Everyone!! Late again! It's been a hectic day, but just wanted to thank Darcy for her stupendous recap of all the misery and evil. The comments, as usual, are quite insightful and interesing. Seems like we are all on the same page regarding all the Satans...and the superior performances from these actors.
I agree with Susanlynn,"this show has become extraordinarily harsh and hopeless." Yes it has! I keep trying to convince my self that it's just a story, but someone thought up all this evil--scary isn't it?
So can anything else go wrong? I sure hope not! I too am ready for some glimmer of hope and happiness!
Thanks, Urban. Super job.
Gerardo has Armando's number. And he knows his marriage to Elena is pitiful. Gerardo was the voice of good sense in this episode. That said, I don't like Gerardo turning to Antonia as a "friend" because she is crushing on him, whether she knows it or not.
Best scene. Hector helping Estela escape. It seems she can barely use her legs after all the mistreatment.
Estela's kids understand that Domingo's injury was an accident, and they all (save Elena) show love for their mother.
So Armando ordered a beatdown for Fuentes. I've no idea how this will turn out. Will Fuentes retaliate? I can't see him letting Armando and Angela off the hook for good. He's not just a policeman on the force, but a head honcho.
If I heard it right, Andres told Luis he'd return to Mexico City after New Year's Day. Ugh, plenty of time for trouble. In my head, I keep hearing the Bob Marley lyrics “Every time I plant a seed/He said kill it before it grow” from I Shot the Sheriff.
"JP is devastated, overwhelmed, angry, sad, etc., but it's not like Gaby was drunk driving or reckless. He's too black and white for me. If Sebas were in his place, I can't see him turning on Lupita like this".
Niecie, thank you for saying this. I have always felt JP is a good guy, but quite rigid. I know he is struggling and I have much sympathy for him. But, as I've speculated before, my concern that when (when not if :)) it's discovered Ursula cut the breaks, I see JP still harboring some resentment for Gaby. I hope I'm wrong. I hope he goes into therapy.
Diana
Thanks Urban, that was excellent. There’s enough good guys in this show to give us hope!
I wonder if Gerardo and Antonia will become a couple. I don’t see his marriage lasting. I wonder if Armando will care if Geraldo does leave Elena. He seems to think he can run everybody’s lives.
I loved Hector going in the nursing home and then rescuing Estela. I hope he can get her out of there. It would be great if he gets her out and the doctor doesn’t report her missing! He can keep draining Armando financially for her care.
I’m not sure what Horacio is planning. Does he want Aurora for himself or is he being a good brother-in-law?
Finally, Lamberto left. I’m not sure why Armando wants Angela. He knows she has a drinking problem. He also insisted he didn’t love her and was ready to drop her to save the family.
Elena is the biggest mystery of all. It will be interesting to see why she’s the way she is.
Guillermina is a horrible busybody and gossip. The priest needs to restrict her movements before she’s listening in on people’s confessions.
Liz
I agree about JP. I have sympathy for him too but he is rigid, too self-centered and lacking in compassion! I try to give him grace given that he just went through such a traumatic event but at the same time, I don’t think Gaby would be in the bed accusing JP of ruining her life if the roles were reversed. She would be worrying about how he was doing in jail. Like Nicie said it might be different if Gaby was drunk driving or something it might be different but that wasn’t the case. As someone else said, JP himself could have stopped Gaby from driving before the accident happened because he knew she was too upset (not that it would have changed the cut brake lines but from the perspective of what he knows) but no, he let her drive upset, he admits he knew she was too upset, and he blames her for the whole thing and takes 0 responsibility. He says he loves Gaby but I don’t know how you can love someone and have no compassion for them at the same time.
Urban, thank you for that detailed recap as this story unfolds .
I am so happy that we have some strong, smart, determined good guys ... Hector, Gerardo, and Andres ....willing to stand up to awful Armando .
On the other hand, Padre's housekeeper is a busybody who is aiding the monster Armando. Why ?
In a situation like that would taking one's foot off the accelerator be enough? I know nada about cars.
I dearly hope that the verbal vitriol we hear in these stories is not considered normalib Mexican life. You can't unhear that later.
I think that Estela will get out of the manicomio but Hector has to take her somewhere else -- under a false name -- to recover. If she had been heavily sedated for all three months her energy will be low and her muscles weak. She needs to rebuild her strength. When Leonidas and Armando talk they will put two and two together and figure out that Hector had something to do with this.
The padre is no dummy either and he won't talk. But if Guillermina had been his secretary or other kind of assistant he needs to fire her.
I agree that Gerardo is going to rethink his marriage. Life is too short to spend with a frigid bitch.
Running late today! Thanks, Urban. You got it all! Sure hope Héctor is able to roll Estela away to freedom.
Can’t wait until tonight,
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all! ☘️
Urban, if they had been on a completely flat road with plenty of time to stop, then simply taking your foot off the accelerator would be enough but they were on a curvy road and headed downhill so no the car would have kept accelerating at least until they hit flat ground. And even then, you would want a calm and very experienced driver. Memo probably could have handled it. Most young drivers would panic like Gaby did.
I thought so.
Perdona fans: I have a long day tomorrow as in Opera + Party so I won't have a recap until Sunday.
If anyone else would like to do one, s/he's welcome to!
Ursula continues her act of distraught mother and fake cries that her son vomited and won’t wake up! Memo tries to rush off, but the police hold him back. Ursula falls to her knees telling Memo that she’s very scared; She doesn’t want her son to die (two-faces liar!!)! Memo tells the police that his son is very ill and he needs to see him. He asks for just a moment, but the cop warns him that if he resists arrest it will be worse for him. Memo assures that he isn’t resisting; he’ll cooperate, but he wants to see his son…he just needs 5 minutes! When Ursula asks why they are detaining him, Memo explains that Fausto reported him for theft and injuries. Amparo tries to convince the police to give Memo five minutes, but is told that they are just doing their job. One of the cops warns Memo not to force them to take him by force; so Memo concedes and tells Amparo to take care of Martín and call the doctor and he tells Leo to go with their father. Ursula wants to go with him, but Memo tells her that his son needs her.
Crying and holding a holy card of the Virgen of Carmen, Lupita parts to the Virgin asking to take care of Sebas and make him well; she pleads that She not take him.
Leo arrives at the hospital and asks Lola about his father. Lola tells him he is in surgery; they need to wait for the doctor to come and give them some news. Dani approaches and asks for Memo, so Leo tells him he was arrested because Fausto filed charges to hurt them.
The doctor has seen Martín and tells Amparo and the others that Martín is swollen?? and that is a good sign. As Amparo bounces Martín in her arms (that bouncing really bothers me, poor baby!), the doctor tells them that if the baby vomits again or sleeps too much, they should call him immediately. Ursula nods and agrees to call him quickly (as if she cared!). Amparo adds that they will watch over Martín.
Memo is placed in the cell next to Gaby. He tells her that they arrested him because he ran into the imbecile Fausto at the truck stop; he couldn't hold himself back and gave him a good blow. And the coward is claiming he stole from him and that is not true! Gaby feels that everything is going wrong for them. Memo continues that what’s worse is that Martín is very I’ll and he is worried because he doesn’t know what’s wrong with him. Gaby wonders why all of this is happening, but Memo has no idea.
Ursula storms in to Fausto suite yelling for Fausto. Karen tells her to be quiet, she'll wake up Isabela! When Karen asks how she knows he is there, Ursula replies that he himself told her. Karen then asks since when are they such good friends; so Ursula spews since they have the same interests! Ursula then rants that Fausto should have consulted with her before sending Memo off to get locked up because that is going to ruin all her plans! When she adds that she needs Fausto to have Memo released right now, Karen (who could care less) is bothered that Ursula and Fausto are in such close contact. Ursula tried ordering Karen to give Fausto a message but Karen in not her messenger! If Ursula wants to talk to him, she should call him on his cell phone; Ursula has nothing to do there! When Karen asks if there is something going on between Ursula and Fausto, Ursula counters that she is asking the same about Karen; why is Karen getting so upset as if she was Fausto’s woman. When Karen tells Ursula to stay away from Fausto and warns that Ursula wouldn’t want her as an enemy, Ursula laughs and mocks that she is shaking with fear!
Fausto shows up at the hospital and feigns concern as he tells Dani that he found out about her brother; in tragedies like these they should set aside their problems and be supportive of each other (bile alert!). When he adds that they have shared 10 years together, Dani spurns that it was 10 years of that were a lie because all that time, he betrayed her with her best friend! Fausto hasn’t come to argue and starts to leave, but Dani stops him and demands that he have Memo released…because he is not a criminal! Fausto scoffs as he points out how Memo left him...and he even took his watch! Dani retorts what did he expect! He took her daughter and he won’t let them see her! And he filled Isa with who knows with what about her relationship with Memo and poisoned her heart to put her against them! Any man would have done what Memo did! Fausto doesn’t know what Memo gives her that makes her irrational; he rants that Memo is violent and a danger to his daughter…Memo won’t be able to get custody of Isabela…just like Dani who can’t do anything to get custody of his daughter! Dani laughs sarcastically and tells him that remains to be seen because he has never faced a mother who is angry! Fausto turns to leave, but is now confronted by Eugenio who has been wanting to find him!
Gaby is very scared; so Memo assures that they both will get out of there. Gaby cries that she is afraid JP will have a lot of resentment toward, he will never look at her the same way. She’s very scared that JP will stop loving her. Memo asserts that love is the most immense thing in the world and he is sure that with her love, she will help JP move forward and face this new stage that he will have to live through. It won’t be easy for either of them, he is probably scared too. Gaby will never stop loving JP. Memo warns that that she needs to be prepared because he will probably reject her at first…many, many times…she will need to be persistent and not leave him alone because JP needs her more than ever. And underneath all that he is feeling, is the love he still feels for her.
Eugenio grabs Fausto by his lapels and growls that he played with his daughter! Dani pleads that Eugenio stop because Fausto is capable of reporting him with lies just like he did to Memo! Fausto barks that now Eugenio knows how he felt when his parents died because of Eugenio! When Eugenio snarls that they way he used his daughter has no name, Fausto retorts that Karen is no victim! His daughter is very conscious of her actions. When he adds that she has enjoyed every kiss, Eugenio yells, “Shut up! Imbecile!!” But Fausto is not deterred and tells him that Karen always found ways to separate him and Dani. Dani hisses that he and Karen are despicable…leaves. Eugenio supposes that when Fausto and Dani divorce, Fausto and his daughter have plans. Fausto nods and tells him that he and Karen are thinking of having a baby. When he mocks that Eugenio was anxious to have a grandchild, Eugenio snarls, not from you!
Karen sees that her pregnancy test is negative and hisses that she needs to get pregnant before Fausto finds someone else; he did it with Olivia, he can do it again…all for that damned inheritance!
(Skipped scene) Leo is frustrated that his father’s surgery is taking so long…and no news! He would have like to see him before he went in. When he asks how his father was before the heart attack, Chuchita replies that Humberto was worried because of all the problems…he thought Leo had changed his name because he was ashamed of his last name and that hurt him. Leo explains that the change of name was something he had no control over, they forced it on him. Chuchita reproaches that they are imposing everything on him now—his false romance, his name; he needs to be careful and think of how he wants to end up. Leo doesn’t want his father to die, much less under these circumstances, he wants his father to see that he will fight for his dreams and succeed…and he wants his father to be proud of him.
The doctor tells Amparo that he father’s surgery was a success and he is now in recovery. He can’t have visitors right now. His recovery will be slow and delicate so he will remain under observation until he is out of danger.
Leo complains that Max is now telling him that he has to go on tour tomorrow…his father is very ill and his niece is in jail. Max isn’t phased and tells Leo that fame requires sacrifice and their are tours that can’t be canceled. They have contracts and if they don’t follow through they will be sued! He then warns that if Leo messes up, no one will hire him and he can say goodbye to his singing career.
At the hotel where Fausto is staying, a woman is telling the receptionist that she is the nanny Fausto hired. Yo happens to be close by and tells the woman she is also there for the position. The woman tells her to keep the job because she just found out that her father is very ill; she even offers to give Yo her uniform! Yo is very grateful because she really need the job.
Amparo thanks Lupita for staying to look after Humberto. Once Lupita leaves, Eugenio approaches Amparo and tells her that he talked to lawyer so he should take Gaby’s case. Amparo is very appreciative. She admits that she is about to beak down, but she has to be strong for her family. After she assures that Gaby was not at fault, Eugenio shared that when his wife died in the accident, his life was filled with regrets and guilt; he doesn’t wish that for her daughter who will need her more than ever. Eugenio then tells her that his children need him too…and he can’t be thinking of starting a new life when his son's life is on the line. when he adds that they will have to end their relationship and tries to get close to her, Amparo steps back and tells him he need not say more.
Dani goes to see Memo and assures that Martín is well. She then tells Memo that the only way he can get out quickly is if Fausto drops the charges (good luck!). Memo isn’t holding his breath, he knows Fausto won’t do it. He assures Dani that he didn’t steal anything…and as for the rest, he just could not hold himself back. Dani comments that the bad thing is that Isa saw him. Memo agrees and thinks Isa must be thinking the worst of him.
The hospital psychologist approaches Eugenio who offers her support for him. She knows it’s a sensitive subject…but due to his son’s condition, it is possible that they may have to disconnect the machines. Eugenio cries, “No! My son will wake up!” The psychologist then gives him pamphlets regarding organ donation.
{(Skipped part) Isa asks why Fausto doesn’t want her to go to school. Exaggerating as always, Fausto replies that Memo might show up and try to take her…he’s a violent man. And then Fausto would never see her (his money) again and be very sad (Not!). And her mother might show up too and fill her with lies (just like he has). When Isa insists, Fausto tells her she can study there and then he will find her a new school.} He then tells her he hired someone to take care of her while he is at work and she needs to behave. And on cue, Yo shows up who introduces herself and pretends to be anxious to see the child. Isa doesn’t seem as excited.
Eugenio cries that Sebas is strong, he will survive and he is not dead; so he doesn’t plan on disconnecting him! The psych understands; she just wants to give him the info as a possibility; his sons organs can save other’s lives. Eugenio shouts in desperation. Amparo tries to calm him but Eugenio is torn since he will be the one to decide if his son dies! Lupita overhears and asks “what did you say?”
Gaby asks Dani about JP, so Dani tells her that he needs time to assimilate what happened; he feels rage toward everything and everyone. She assures that it’s normal and they need to give him time. Just then, a guard comes…to take Gaby to the women’s prison! “No! No! No!” cries Gaby. She asks Memo not to let them take her, but the guards lead her out as Dani tells her that she will call the attorney and Memo shouts that she should be strong.
Lupita pleads with Eugenio asking that he not disconnect Sebas. Eugenio assures that he will not allow it; he’d rather die first! After Amparo assures that she also has hopes that Sebas will awaken, Eugenio apologizes for raising his voice. Amparo understands his pain since she felt the same way with her father’s situation.
Fausto gives Yo orders--Isa cannot leave the apartment or make calls. Yo assures that his daughter in the best hands. After Fausto leaves, Isa doesn't know what she wants to do so Yo suggests coloring which her daughter liked to do when she was little.
Memo is frantic since he can't do anything while being locked up. After he lists all his family's problems, he ends that his family is torn. Dani reminds him that they have each other; and God and their love will give them strength to find a solution to all their problems. Memo also has faith that they will get this. They kiss tenderly before Dani leaves.
Fausto smiles that Gaby is being transferred to the prison…and that Santos family is losing everything a bit at a time. They are about to trap Amparo and she will have to sign over all the property…and AT LAST that damned family will go to hell!!
Yo assures Mac who is lying on the couch and stuffing his odious face that Fausto didn’t suspect anything. He reminds her that she needs to find out if Fausto knows that he has Mr. Uptight sign the same contract. Yo will try to get some info once Fausto returns. Mac would rather die (if only!) than go to prison! As Yo tells him that once they have money they can leave far away , Isa is watching quietly. Yo then goes back to chat with Isa who eyes the phone.
Karen questions Fausto about Ursula knowing where he is staying. She laughs when Fausto asks if she is jealous. As they talk Ursula approaches and eavesdrops as Fausto tells Karen that Ursula has a body on her! Karen warns him to be careful. Fausto thinks Ursula went looking for him when she found out the he had Memo put in jail. After he adds that no matter what Ursula does or says, he is not going to drop the charges, Ursula barges in and wonders if that is so. She tells him that she is a bit crazy(a bit??), very impulsive and unpredictable...does he really want to risk her having one of her fits against him?
Amparo gets the news that Gaby has been transferred to prison and turns on Eugenio yelling that he lied! He said they wouldn’t take Gaby and they just took her to prison. Eugenio tries to explain that he told his attorney to take over the case but the charges against Gaby require certain procedures. JP is being wheeled over as Eugenio adds that they won’t decide if Gaby is guilty or innocent until the evidence is available. JP cries out, “No! No! No! Sebas is in a coma and they took one of his legs! So Gaby has the face the consequences of what she did!” Amparo and Lupita son as they shake their heads and cry, “No!”
Ursula warns Fausto that he has one day to get Memo out of jail…or she will start talking…and spilling that he ordered her to provoke the accident. She'll get sent to the looney bin, but Fausto will end up in prison for what happened to the young men in the hospital.
Amparo tells JP that it was an accident, but JP argues that Gaby was driving while very upset; he told he to slow down but she didn’t do it and that is what he will tell the authorities!! Amparo pleads that he not do that and Lupita reminds him that Gaby would never do anything to hurt him…it was an accident! JP cries that he has forgiven Gaby many things because he loved her… but this is not like lying, this reaches a totally different level! Being is prison is very little compared to what her daughter did. Amparo cries and gets on her knees as she pleads and reminds JP of his move for Gaby, but JP retorts that the love was cut off with his leg! Amparo and Lupita hug each other in tears.
Fausto tells Ursula that she wins; he will drop the charges, but in a week. He needs Memo locked up so that he can't help his sister. He has the opportunity to buy the land now that Amparo is alone and desperate to resolve all the problems she has. Ursula agrees since she also wants to see that woman suffer!
Time passes--Gaby is at the women's prison and is walked to her cell as the inmates welcome her with slurs and her cellmate coldly welcomes her. Sebas is taken home and Lupita is in Eugenio's arms as the nurses hook up all the machines. Amparo and Chema cry as Amparo bounces the baby in her arms. JP goes home and Dani watches him solemnly. And one of the very few good things in this episode--Chuchita is pregnant!! Leo continues his charade with Monica during his tour.
Lola is sorry for everything Humberto is going through. Amparo enters and tells him that he is being released. When she tells him that Leo will be sending money he has made during his tour, Humberto refuses any money from Leo DURAN! He want nothing with strangers. He then asks about Gaby, so she tells him she was transferred to the women's prison.
Memo tells the lawyer that he can't stay in jail one minute more! The lawyer tell shim that as long as Fausto doesn't drop the charges, he can't do much. THE lawyer has submitted the request that he be released under bond...but they are working against him and the bond could be excessive. Memo pleads that the lawyer help him...he has to get out because he is needed.
Isa is coloring and looks at Yo's phone. She tells Yo that she is bored and asks if Yo's phone has games. Yo lends her the phone while she goes to get something for Isa's lunch. Isa runs off to her room.
Lupita is with Sebas and JP is there visiting. Lupita can't say that she understands what Jp is feeling. JP yells that losing a leg is worse than death! She continues that seeing Sebas like he is, she feels she is also in a coma. She then shares that Sebas asked her to marry him right before the accident and she said yes. He was going to ask for her hand, but she is now afraid of losing him; he promised they would grow old together. JP also feels bad seeing Sebas like that. Lupita points out that she doesn't look for who is at fault; Gaby is not at fault! All she can do is ask the Virgen that Sebas wakes up and she prays for JP too. JP sneers that all of this could have been avoided if Gaby had listened to him and stopped on the side of the road. When Lupita doesn't think it would be fair if JP declares against Gaby. JP retorts that it also isn't fair that he will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Lupita then asks why Gaby was upset; what happened right before the accident.
Isa calls Dani and asks why she lied to her. Dani promises to explain everything. Isa then cries as she tells Dani all the horrible things Karen told her including that Dani and Memo are going to hell! Dani asks where she is. When Isa tells her that her father doesn't want her to come back, Dani asks if Isa doesn't want to see her. Isa cries that she does; she misses her. Dani misses her too. Dani again asks where Isa is, but Isa doesn't know. Just hen Yo rushes in, grabs the phone and hangs up on Dani. Dani tries calling back but Yo refuses to answer despite Isa's pleas to let her talk to her mother.
JP doesn't want to talk about it; he doesn't want to give Lupita another problem. Another problem? cries Lupita. She scoffs and lists all the problems she already has. When she ends that on top of everything she has a half-sister, JP is surprised that she knows. Lupita realizes that is why Gaby was upset and questions why JP allowed Gaby to drive knowing how upset she was. When she adds the he too is responsible for what happened, JP remarks that she will be a very good lawyer, but she won't convince him. Lupita cries that they are talking about the woman he swore he loved! JP admits that he is having much trouble not to hate her.
Yo calls Mac and tells him that Dani is desperate to find her daughter. Mac thinks that with that little girl, they have found a gold mine. He then tells her exactly what to do.
Yo calls Dani and tells her she is taking care of her daughter. Dani asks to talk to Isa, but YO replies that Fausto forbad her from allowing Isa to use the phone. Isa tricked her into getting her phone to call her. When Dani asks fir the address, Yo asks what Dani would be willing to do for her. Dani would be eternally grateful, but Yo points out that one can't eat with thank yous. Dani assumes she is talking about money; and Yo suggests that she be very generous so she can be quickly motivated.
Gaby's cellmate asks why she is there, but Gaby prefers that her cellmate tell her why she is there first. The cellmate explains that her son got into some problems and she took the blame...she doesn't regret it because her son went to a straighter path, now has career, and even has children.
Dani goes to see Memo and tells him about Isa's call...but Isa couldn't tell her where she was. She then tells him that the babysitter asked for money in return for info of where she could find her daughter. That is why she came to see him; because this a decision they both need to make as Isa's parents.
FIN!!
I was too tired to go back and proofread...long day. If something doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll be glad to clarify. And excuse all the typos!!
Have a great week-end!!
Rgv Chick, tonight you wrote from your heart with words from your soul. This beautifully painted masterpiece contained warm colors of kindness, sensitivity, caring and empathy, evident in every brushstroke. Your completed canvas illuminated and explained so much I was unclear on and/or did not understand. Thank you!
Thank you for “(two-faces liar!!)!”, “(bile alert!); two points of life in the darkness.
The tragedy tonight was the fracturing of relationships; between families, between friends, between those who love each other. Amparo and Lupita on their knees, begging an unyielding, purse lipped JuanPa was almost impossible to watch. “He has forgiven Gaby many things…”??? How righteous he is. And his declaration that “he is having much trouble not to hate her” proves he has not a whit of compassion. Poor Lupita (rightly) telling him “Gaby would never do anything to hurt him…it was an accident!”
I didn’t realize Eugenio broke up with Amparo but her stepping back showed something (else) terrible had happened. I understand why he said it but it just added to her hurt, I’ve never seen Amparo so upset.
Sebastian at home gives hope.
Smart little Isa making that phone call! While dismayed she will be with Macario, I’d rather she be there than anywhere near Karen. Now I have hope she will be back home shortly.
The scene of almost empty Santos dining table was superbly done.
If last night belonged to Karla Esquivel (Gaby), tonight it was Leonardo Daniel (Eugenio). He conveyed his pure anguish and utter torment perfectly. He appeared to visibly age and seemed broken…
Rgv Chick, thank you, thank you.
Diana
Thank you RGV chick for this wonderful recap after a long day! You covered it all and I didn't see any typos! Thanks also for pointing out the positives - Chuchita is pregnant - among the continuing horror!
We saw the uglier sides of characters tonight, even the good ones. The evils are evil and the good guys all need anger (and Trauma) management classes. It occurred to me that if Gaby does forgive JP one day and they end up married, he'll fit in with that family well every time he goes from good natured to hateful and angry with any provocation.
I said it yesterday but I am going to repeat myself today. It’s unbelievable that all those officers would stand there hearing an infant may be in mortal danger and do absolutely nothing and even threaten to charge Memo with resisting arrest if he goes to the baby! Disgraceful – and I hope that would NEVER happen in real life. Also any points Ursa thinks she’s gaining in the loving mother department go right out the window when she goes from frantically crying the baby’s dying to wanting to leave said baby and accompany Memo to the police station 3 seconds later. That right there was proof positive that Ursa doesn’t care about Martin.
‘Memo warns that that she needs to be prepared because he (JP) will probably reject her at first…many, many times…she will need to be persistent and not leave him alone because JP needs her more than ever. And underneath all that he is feeling, is the love he still feels for her.´ I actually like Memo’s perspective. It’s so compassionate and loving…but I’m not sure JP deserves all that devotion.
It is both heartless and unreasonable to expect Leo to go on tour when his father is so gravely ill in the hospital and to threaten that his career is over if he doesn’t is just plain awful. No human being should be treated that way.
Speaking of unreasonable, I know Amparo is upset and with good reason, but yelling in Eugenio’s face like that was awful!! It’s yet another example of the Santos way of condemn first and ask questions later. But no matter what your motto, you know the man is in the hospital dodging questions about whether or not they should unplug his son’s life support and donate his organs – you don’t yell ‘Liar’ at someone who is in that circumstance! Especially not if you claim you love them. I hope Eugenio’s comment that they won’t decide whether Gaby is innocent or guilty until the evidence is available means they are actually checking the car, but they shouldn’t have arrested Gaby until they decided whether or not a crime had been committed. First you investigate and then you make the arrest!!
JP’s rant was so hard to listen to, I tried to remember Memo’s perspective and give him some grace for his self-righteous rant. He is dealing with a whole lot, but his bitter insistence on condemning Gaby was hard to take and his comment about forgiving Gaby so many things in the past made it sound like Gaby was a constant screw-up and he was Mr. Perfect. Hard to swallow. Another thing that bugs me about his account of the accident is what is missing – like the other car. That car was on the wrong side of the road (I’m pretty sure, it was hard to see since they were turning but Gaby went off the road on her own side and that vehicle looked to be on that side too as it passed) but no one mentions that. Gaby tried to brake but couldn’t but no one mentions that, there’s a lot of details in this case that aren’t being paid attention to. That car, which was on the wrong side of the road then left the scene of the accident too – I guess not a hit and run technically since they didn’t hit but definitely heartless.
‘Lupita realizes that is why Gaby was upset and questions why JP allowed Gaby to drive knowing how upset she was. When she adds the he too is responsible for what happened, JP remarks that she will be a very good lawyer, but she won't convince him.’ Even with Lupita’s words, JP refuses to take any responsibility.
Humberto needs to get over himself and this whole Leo Duran thing!!!
Great work, RGV Chick.
If Sebas were conscious he'd know what to say to JP. He would probably also have the presence of mind to ask about the car.
Ursula is destined for a dire fate. Martin is only a pawn in her game. She isn't living up to her name.
Humberto needs to understand that Leo's name change isn't about his family or himself. Lola needs to remain his voice of reason. She is seriously good for him.
I absolutely fear for Isabela. She is now in a snake pit of evil.
Dear Chickie, yikes , I continue to feel beaten up by this show, so I can't imagine how you waded through more angst and despair to bring us this excellent retelling . uff.
Everyone gets beaten up a bit by life at some point, but the awful things happening to the good characters in this show are the direct result of the actions of truly evil, unscrupulous people .
This morning I heard what could be Karen Blackheart's theme song which was a hit for another ravenhaired , hard rocking woman Joan Jett..." I Hate Myself for Loving You." However , lets face it, there is no love here, only sick obsession and insanity .
I am ready for this story of pain and suffering to end . To quote Caray's beloved Dr. Carlos .....NEXT !!!
Superb recap, Rgv Chick. Emotions running so high and you vividly depicted all of it.
As I read the recap, "(I'm with You Baby) Come Rain or Shine" was playing on the radio. JP sure is not a rain or shine novio. He's a good guy, so I'm guessing he'll work through his grief, shock, and loss and come to embrace Gaby again, but I don't know if I can return to his camp. His lack of concern for the guilt Gaby is feeling and the danger she could be facing in prison is the opposite of a galan. For me, he will need to embrace Gaby BEFORE the truth comes out about the cut brakes.
I see Eugenio and Amparo finding their way back to each other. Each has genuine concern for the other's child.
Yay! Isa used her smarts to get Yo's phone and call her mom. Her bond with her mom is so strong, I couldn't believe Fausto and Karen's brainwashing being complete.
I don't know what I'd missed, but I don't remember Gabi disappointing JP 'many times'. She lied to her mother, but that had nothing to do with him. Everyone is so angry at JP whereas I am just like'well, sounds far too realistic to me'. I like JP's rants actually. Maybe it would be different if he hadn't been into sports and hadn't been about to take part in the Olimpics. He could still swim I imagine, but it would be completely different and the problem is that it would be both hard to learn and hard to be considered as being at the same level. I think I didn't like this paring so it doesn't surprise me that they now have to go through this.
So is Monica's nonsense now just ignored because oh it's show business. What is televisa doing here? Have they forgotten this plot point?
Someone here mentioned only children are affected socially if they don't have friends. Are there any studies on this topic?
Thank you, everyone, for your kind and generous comments--always uplifting and motivating.
Diana, "The tragedy tonight was the fracturing of relationships; between families, between friends, between those who love each other." So well stated! Thank you for summing up this episode so beautifully.
I see (vague) signs of things making a turn, Diana, you already mentioned "Sebastian at home gives hope." and, "Smart little Isa making that phone call!" Oh and let's not forget Chuchita is pregnant! From what I gather, at least a week has passed and Sebas is still alive. Surely the writers didn't keep him alive just to kill him off later, right?
Darcy, I so enjoy reading your comments! You dissect each episode thoroughly emphasizing the nonsense (ie, the officers being so cold) and sharing your amazing insight regarding the characters. I am so glad you pointed out that the pretentious distraught mother was quickly willing to leave her baby to go with Memo. All Ursula wants is Memo's attention; so maybe she is using Martin for just that--to keep Memo close by. Urban and Susanlynn summed it up precisely, "Ursula is destined for a dire fate. Martin is only a pawn in her game." (Urban) and "there is no love here, only sick obsession and insanity." (Susanlynn)"
Niecie, regarding JuanP "He's a good guy, so I'm guessing he'll work through his grief, shock, and loss and come to embrace Gaby again, but I don't know if I can return to his camp. His lack of concern for the guilt Gaby is feeling and the danger she could be facing in prison is the opposite of a galan." I couldn't agree with you more. I can understand his anger at loosing his leg, but wishing Gaby spend the rest of her life in prison is over the top. I'm glad Lupita called him on allowing Gaby to drive--never should have happened! It would be ideal if JuanP embraces Gaby before the truth comes out about the brakes.
Waterlily, I can only remember Gaby disappointing JP when she got angry at him for not advising Sebas to turn Este away when she asked to stay at his house. There was another time previous to that when Gaby was angry with him because he asked her not to come to his trainings (as per his coach's orders). And of course there was the time when she broke up with him because she saw him shirtless with one of Este's friends. As I stated previously, I do understand JP being angry, but he is far from perfect; has he forgotten the horrible things he told Gaby when Fausto manipulated him into thinking that Gaby was using him as part of Memo's alleged plan to take Isa from them?
OT
Waterlily, here's a link of one study on the impact of children not having friends--
https://www.verywellfamily.com/impact-of-isolation-on-childhood-development-4843122
There is one other thing re Gaby and JP, which was his reaction to Estephania's viral photos. He should not have jumped to conclusions about those. I have difficulty with situations like that because he should have known better.
There are major trust issues throughout this tale which I can't go into right this minute bu they are so operatic.
I am confused about Yo showing up to be Isa's babysitter . Did Yo somehow come up with a plan to kidnap Isa or did Mac direct her to do this ? I must have missed something .
Susanlynn, Yo's or really Mac's plan was just to get close to Fausto in the hopes that when Fausto finds out about Mac double selling the plot of land then Yo would be there to find exactly what Fausto plans to do about it so Mac doesn't get blindsighted. The opportunity to be Isa's babysitter just sort of fell into Yo's lap while she was hanging around looking for a way in. I don't know that Yo plans to kidnap Isa, I hope not; I got the impression that she plans to bring her to Dani but not until Dani pays a pretty penny for the return of her daughter. It's something like kidnapping and extortion except she's not technically the kidnapper since Fausto already has Isa hidden away from Dani and she can just take her from Fausto's hideout to Dani's house.
Darcy, thanks for that explanation . I thought it was odd that Yo was in her car observing the fight between Memo and Fausto and then she was suddenly standing with the woman who was supposed to babysit Isa. What good luck that Yo fell right into position. So, I am all in for Yo delivering Isa to Dani. Do Dani and Memo know Yo ? Do they know that Mac is her " Tiger? " Uff.
I hope that the tide turns soon ,and the bad guys stop winning and harming people. Basta.
Thanks, Rgv Chick, that was a fantastic recap. Thanks for the skipped parts too. I was wondering why Isa wasn’t going to school.
Gaby wonders why all this is happening-if only they knew the answer-Fausto! We can add Ursula and Karen but Fausto is pulling the strings.
I remember Fausto taking off his watch after the fight I thought he was just adjusting it. I wonder if he still has it or planted it on the Santo property
I was really fed up with JP. He’s been in several compromising positions, and Gaby forgave him. But he’s being a real p___k. I know he’s lost his leg but he’s still alive. He can be angry but needs some compassion for Gabby.
Fausto showing up at the hospital was too much. Eugenio blaming him for Karen’s behavior was, well a dad not wanting to realize what kind of daughter he raised. I hate the fact that Eugenio ended their relationship and then Amparo ends up yelling at him. Memo is the only reasonable Santos, at least of the adults. Although both girls are doing well too.
These bad guys seem to have luck on their side. Hoping this week will see that change.
Liz
<< Yes it has! I keep trying to convince my self that it's just a story, but someone thought up all this evil--scary isn't it? >>
ABSOLUTELY to both these comments: I was trying to remember the last time i saw a telenovela with this much tragedy all at once. In such an extreme form! This is just not fair to the telenovela world!
And, yes I too sometimes think about the writer (s) behind these plots! There must be a lot of demons lurking…😉

Lies Are a House of Cards: Just the Facts Edition
Part 1 of 4
As Hector wheeled Estela out of her crazy room they were spotted by a nurse we had not previously seen. He said he was taking her to the solarium with Leonidas' authorization. They got to a staircase and she was barely able to walk. He encouraged and supported her as she descended while holding onto the banister [Is this why such torture facilities always seem to be in old buildings?].
One at the exit Hector looked outside and saw two employees on a break. They walked away to his left and Hector supported Estela, telling her to think of her children, as he led her into his SUV, and quickly got into the driver's seat. [¡Bien hecho, Hector!]
Gerardo went home to his delusional wife who considered her in-laws' separation to be sad. He did not agree, considering how much fighting had gone one. She considered their own marriage to be “solid” which only provoked Gerardo into stating the reasons it wasn't. He wanted them to seek professional help and she refused, claiming not wanting to tell personal things to a stranger. She dismissed the seriousness of this issue, saying – for the nth time – that all men think about is sex. Armando walked in, probably having heard the last few lines of the exchange. He asked what was wrong because the could be heard beyond the door. Elena said they were arguing about her father-in-law leaving his family home. Gerardo confirmed this, Armando said “Sorry to hear that; wish I had known that before it happened” and that his other children should not be told about this. Elena agreed as her father left the room. Gerardo was still displeased with the situation, telling Elena that he will be looking for professional help for themselves before it's too late.
Angela appeared to have abdominal pain and was getting hysterical. Aurora took her phone and called Gerardo, who said that tests were necessary. She had pain in both her arms and legs. Aurora had fallen for the lie about the taxi driver. Angela now claimed it was Lamberto.
Elsa stopped in the kitchen and told Flor she was taking some things to Padre Reynaldo. Flor told her to be very careful.
Stuff was delivered to the hotel; Meche and Horacio were working on it. When she left the room Aurora called her phone and Horacio answered, finally saying he would be right there. He put the phone back and left immediately.
Angela was put in the ambulance and Aurora got in with her. Lamberto arrived just as the ambulance doors were shut and Gerardo confronted his father, who had no idea what he was talking about. Just as Gerardo was about to punch his lights out Antonia appeared and stopped him. Unfortunately he told Lamberto to go away because he never wanted to hear anything else from him again. As Lamberto drove away Gerardo started crying, Antonia embraced him.
Andres caught up with Elsa as both were en route to the rectory. He took her bag. As he was telling her he could not wait to be with her Armando saw them and pulled up in his car. The situation needed for them to pretend that they had run into each other accidentally and that they had not wished to. Andres made his exit. Armando tried to force Elsa to come with him. She told him she was going to see Meche and thus made her escape, leaving him to stew in silence.

Part 2 of 4
Gerardo had calmed down but was annoyed that he still didn't know what had happened. He felt deceived, saying his life and his marriage were disasters and he would talk about that another time. They embraced and it was evident that he is very attracted to her.
Estela desperately wanted to see her children but Hector said she needed to get well. He was taking her to “a secure location.” She was afraid of Armando finding out about this. Hector pleaded with her to trust him and she thanked him.
Armando was in pain as he was driving. He carefully pulled over to the side of the road, loosened his tie, and leaned against the steering wheel of his car. He got out and clutched the left side of his chest.
Fortunately, Estela saw him as Hector's car approached. Hector got her to duck out of sight before they passed Armando's car. Hector told her to remain out of sight so nobody would recognize her.
Gerardo went to the hospital where Aurora told her that the doctors had no news yet. As he went to speak to the attending physician Horacio arrived. Gerardo was a little suspicious of his presence, but said that Angela was better but needed to recuperate. Lamberto arrived and walked into another confrontation with his son, who was still unwilling to talk to him.
Andres went home and had another disagreement with Silvia who was more afraid than ever over what Armando might do to him.
Elsa and Meche talked with Meche pledging her support. Elsa said she expected that she and Andres would leave on January 2nd.
Hector brought Estela to the hotel and registered her in under a false name, Mariana Rangel along with Octavio Valdez. This was for 300 days. He told Antonia this required absolute discretion (actually secrecy). She agreed and handed him the key.
Aurora thanked Horacio and leaned against him. He took her hand, then realized this wasn't right and made his exit. Gerardo returned for coffee for two and Aurora said Horacio had to get back to work.
Silvia went to Lamberto's room at the hotel and he told her what happened with Angela. Also that his children thought he had abused her and that he had not. Silvia knew Lamberto was not capable of this. He was particularly hurt by Gerardo's accusation. Silvia embraced him [Fortunately for them, the door was closed].
Somehow Armando made it home but was still in pain. He usual sartorial appearance was a bit off with his tie loosened. His children were in the garden setting off fireworks and he demanded that they stop and extinguish what they had done. Elena tried to confiscate the fireworks but no one handed them over. Elsa came back and he demanded to speak to her in the study where they began arguing about the usual “if you live under my roof you must obey me” parental demand. His phone rang, he looked at it, then put it on the desk and leaned over. He finally stood up saying that her disobedience will kill him, then left the study with Elsa following him out.
Aha! He missed a call from Leonidas.

Lies Are a House of Cards: Just the Facts Edition
Part 3 of 4
Angela was feeling better when Gerardo and Aurora visited her. She told them to spend New Year's with the Moraleses as they had planned, saying all she wanted to do was to sleep.
Hector spoke to Gerardo saying he had busted Estela out of the torture chamber. Gerardo said he would be right there. Hector told Estela he trusted Gerardo whose description of what he saw provoked him to take action. He had no clothes for her at this point and she told him that wasn't important. What mattered was that he had saved her life.
Unfortunately, Gerardo told Elsa that her mother was out of that madhouse and where she was. She asked him to take her to her mother. Flor handed Gerardo his requested glass of water and Elsa said she was going with him. Elsa told her they were going to see her mother. Flor told her not to because of the problems it would cause with her father. Elsa begged almost like a child and Flor told her she had her back.
Hector gave Antonia instructions for Estela's meals. His children were not far away and the two men speculated on whether their father had a mistress. Meche teased them about this, wondering whether they would see their father get married. Horacio mentioned Aurora and explained that her mother was in hospital. Carlos asked why he didn't tell him earlier, etc. They found Aurora who didn't want to talk about this; she only wanted to be able to forget her problems.
Gerardo and Elsa arrived at the hotel to see Hector and Antonia told them to go directly to his office. He took them to see Estela.
Elena went down to the kitchen and asked about her father. Flor said he was most likely in his room. Elena thought this odd because he didn't nap. She asked for Gerardo and Flor said he got a call from a patient. The doorbell rang and it was Leonidas. Elena showed him upstairs.
Hector explained that Estela was a long-standing friend and they needed to keep Estela's escape a secret because Armando would put her right back in the Cuckoo's Nest. When Estela saw Elsa and Gerardo she recognized them although she was still a little confused. She was certainly not confused about what Armando would do if he found her. She hugged Elsa and allowed Gerardo to examine her.
Armando was furious. Leonidas had tried calling and texting him six times and gotten no answer. The quack told him he didn't know how this happened and it had not happened in the previous twenty years he had been there. The only outsider recently there was the local mayor. This news provoked swearing from Armando which resulted in more chest pain. He collapsed onto the sofa at the foot of the bed. Leonidas ordered him to relax and had him lie down on the couch at the foot of the bed.
Aurora was drinking champagne like water, which caused Lamberto some worry. He didn't want her to become like her mother and they began arguing. She still refused to hear anything he had to say.
Gerardo arrived to join the Morales family and exchanged greetings with Antonia.
Elsa and Estela talked. Elsa told her what a hellhole the convent school was. Estela told her about discovering Armando in bed with Angela and that was why he had put her in the Cukoo's Nest. She warned Elsa to watch out for him. She asked about Domingo and Elsa told her that he was recuperating perfectly. She told her she would keep coming to see her [Harbinger of doom here].
Capitulo 18, Viernes 17 Marzo 2023
Lies Are a House of Cards: Just the Facts Edition
Part 4 of 4
Armando felt a little better and Leonidas told him he had arrhythmia and elevated blood pressure. He had just had a heart attack. He wrote a prescription and said he needed to have tests. Armando was determined to leave and find Hector but Leonidas told him not to, that he needed to rest. Armando was not having it, determined to find his wife and give Hector what for. Elena entered without knocking to find out what was up. Armando brushed it off and thanked Leonidas who correctly interpreted this as his dismissal. Of course, Armando did not tell Elena about his own medical issue but told her that Hector had gotten Estela out of the manicomio. He didn't know where he had taken her but had an idea where to look, which he would do the next day.
As usual, Elena was to tell nothing to her siblings.
Hector assured Elsa and Gerardo that he would take good care of Estela.
We didn't see how many drinks she had, but Aurora was in a good mood. Good enough to plant a major kiss on Horacio. He broke it, looked over his shoulder, and said “Not here.” They went upstairs and into a room. “No, we can't,” but they kissed again.
Horacio's family was at their table. Carlos asked a waiter if he had seen Aurora. When the man said No, Carlos eyed the room, then began looking. He went upstairs and began calling her name. Horacio slipped into the bathroom and Aurora locked the door. When Carlos knocked she let him in, said she had been upset about her mother, but she was alright now. She said they should return to the party.
Elsa and Gerardo drove back. He told her that as the meds given to her mother at the manicomio wear off she will get better. He talked about how he had always admired Armando but now is another story. Elsa told him that this was all about appearances. She got out of the car to see Padre Reynaldo who was praying outside. She told him her mother was out of the madhouse but could not tell him where. He was alright with that. She wished him a happy new year and left. As she left he heard a sound.
Guillermina was up to her old tricks.
Sorry this was so late but yesterday was as crazy as the events in this episode.
I am shocked that Estela was able to escape amidst all the cuckoo's nest staff.
Hector made a huge mistake by not swearing Gerardo to secrecy. Elsa and Flor are going to suffer for this.
Elsa should leave on the 2nd as she planned but I don't think she will.
Angela behaved like a normal mother for once. WTF?
Thanks, Urban, for your very fine recap.
It is hard to believe that Gerardo would believe his mother so easily over his father when he knows that she has problems and not just with alcohol.
I doubt that Elsa understands the urgency of getting out of town before it is too late.
Guillermina needs to be fired.
Surprise, surprise! Armando has heart problems! That can only be good news in this novela.
Thanks, Urban, I needed those facts! I thought Armando was having a similar pain to Angela’s stomach ache and thought one of the kids would put two and two together. I thought it was something they ate, I was way off!
The priest needs to lock that busybody out. Not sure why she feels the need to tattle to Armando.
I fear Estela will be found. I don’t think Hector’s hotel is the best hiding place!
I can’t believe Elena thinks she and Geraldo have a solid marriage! Although most of that generation are living with really bad examples of marriage.
Thanks for the recap!
Liz
Lamberto did lock Angela in her room, which he had never done before. Aurora never gave him an opportunity to explain why, either. Despite the pace of this novela it feels like that won't happen for another 40 episodes, but that would make no sense.
Elsa seems to have lost the sense of danger regarding her need to get out of there. While many would saw that she is too young to be getting married or having a baby and needs her mother, both she and Andres are in danger of her father's wrath... and her sister's irrational hatred. Armando's obvious favoritism toward Elena is making me wonder if there is a darker secret yet to be revealed about their relationship. Watch their facial expressions and body language when they interact, especially in scenes where no one else is around.
Elena is sick and delusional. Her failure to recognize that her sexual rejection of Gerardo is beyond abnormal may be a coping mechanism to cover up something more sinister. Is she possibly in love with her own father has that gone into the illegal or unnatural?
Guillermina does need to be fired. I wish the padre could also get a restraining order against her, but that may not be possible. She must have a pretty empty life to do what she does.
Hector might want to be available to Estela at all times, but I had hoped that he would have found a place farther away where she would be much safer. Even if Armando would have ended up in hospital that would be no guarantee of her safety.
Liz, "I remember Fausto taking off his watch after the fight I thought he was just adjusting it." Thank you for that! I remember seeing the watch but completely left it out--maybe because I had no clue what Fausto was up to and thought it was unimportant--but it was!! NOw I'm wondering if Toni picked it up...hmmmm...
AMOT, so nice to "see" you! Thanks for commenting...and yes some of these writers are quite demonicly twisted!
Thanks, Urban. Fantastic recap.
When Armando caught Elsa and Andres on the street, Andres got carried away arguing too much with Armando, but Elsa wisely cut off Andres and told him to go away. That's likely Elsa's first harsh words to Andres and it was faked.
Seems like every complication in the world will stall Elsa's exit. Though Elsa's rightfully angry with her dad, she showed concern for Armando because he looked like he was in physical pain.
Ay, Gerardo believes his mom's lie about his dad abusing her. Angela sure is the Queen of Lies.
Urban, thank you for providing every detail with another excellent account .
I was surprised that Angela was in pain and rushed to the hospital , and Armando had chest pains. Usually these villains seem indomitable . I wonder if we will find out what is wrong with Angela. Is her pain caused by whatever the police guy put into her drink ?
Gerardo and Hector have to work together to keep Estela safe. If Gerardo slips and Eleba finds out, we know she will tell awful Armando.
Urban, great point about the body language between Elena and daddy dearest. The KINDEST interpretation would be is that he has teated her too much as a confident rather than as a daughter but nothing would surprise me at this point.
Interesting, Jarifa. Still inappropriate, though. I just hope that if this turns out to be what I think it looks like that it doesn't become a key element in any future role for my favorite actor.
We have no idea what Fuentes put in Angela's drink. We were also never told how old she is so it could be anything from arthritis to a chemical reaction with the liquor to something chronic that waited to strike.
Urban, thank you for your thoughtful recap of another disturbing episode.
“usual sartorial appearance” made me smile. “He finally stood up saying that her disobedience will kill him”.. IF ONLY!!!
Elena was rescued, hallelujah! Hector had no time to craft a game plan but I’m sure Armando will know Elena is at the hotel. Short of armed guards, I don’t know how Hector will manage to keep her safe especially with Elsa vowing to see her at every opportunity. Once Armando hears Elsa is pregnant, he will never allow her a moment alone and will have her every move shadowed.
I thought surely Armando would be down for the count, but nopis. He just keeps on going. So much for an early demise. Shame.
“It is hard to believe that Gerardo would believe his mother so easily over his father…” Jarifa, I feel the same way! Hopefully, he will see the truth quickly.
Gerardo and Elena’s marriage is deteriorating. And fast. She will be the albatross around his neck, just as his mother is to his father. I hope Antonia doesn’t suffer the same fate as her mother.
Diana
I don't know why any family insists on matching first initials like that. I once knew a Cuban family with this; it blows my mind even now.
Rgv Chick: i didn’t even know “demonically” was a word!! Thank you for adding this important adverb to my vocab. — important for describing the minds and actions of some of our telenovela characters..i suppose more so the writers.
It’s actually the reason many of us become so obsessed with these shows; we desperately need to see the comeuppances of these demonically twisted folks!
Sometimes, I think the writers should be more thoughtful about the PERCENTAGES: % of good characters to bad ones, % of horrible events to good/happy ones, etc. We are, after all, loyal but sensitive viewers
