Good morning, Patio.
Adriana, I look forward to your return. Has the night shift gotten any better? Please hang in there!
Darcy, SpanProf, & Waterlily, thanks for the very kind words. While I enjoy our show, it’s the patio interaction that I really look forward to.
Patio, as online Jesús would say: Passe une bonne semaine! Can’t wait to see where our fun show takes us!
Augi lectures MD on getting failing down drunk and making a fool of herself (and him) at the wedding! Like every good mother everywhere, Vicky blames it all on Emma and says she’s the one who posted it all live to Insta! Vicky goes into a ‘why did you get me pregnant with her’ rant that boils down to getting pregnant with worthless Emma ruined Vicky’s life and Augi probably impregnated her on purpose…has anyone else ever wondered how Vicky’s managed to live this long married to a cold bloodied murderer? (I’m just saying…) Augi isn’t interested in any of her BS and just tells Vicky she better clean up her image by Monday because he’s announcing his candidacy and he won’t have her embarrassing him!
Adrian is checking out the video of MD chugging champagne online and he reads a comment from some follower saying it’s a family full of alcoholics and it’s such a shame. He shakes his head and looks toward Emma who is about to take a swig from her bottle of ice-cold Aquafina. Adrian yells at her to stop! If you ask me, a bottle of Aquafina looks pretty much like a bottle of Aquafina even from across the yard, but Adrian thought it was alcohol and it apologizes for his mistake. Em assures him she isn’t going to start drinking again. I mean sure, it hurts that Momma is a nightmare, but that’s exactly why she’s determined to be better and do better! These two smile, dance and kiss as if they weren’t at a public event in the home of her parents who don’t approve of them together.
Mica is playing go between for Valero and Lupe, please she begs, pointing out that Lupe is her only friend and Valero is her first boyfriend! Lupe doesn’t look very forgiving and Valero points out it’s only his first day as a boyfriend and he’s already losing the love of his life (how’s that for efficient?) Speaking of efficient, he sticks another foot in his mouth by letting it slip to Selena that Jesus was saying goodbye to Mariluz last night instead of attending his bachelor party. This has Selena wondering where Sam was and Valero admits he was out with Briana, whom just happens to be arriving at that very moment with Patricio! (Love it!)
Now, I was hoping Selena would throw some sort of jealous fit and unmask Briana, freeing poor Patricio from Bri’s web; and she didn’t disappoint! Villa barely had time to greet Patricio and introduce Lupe before Selena acts. I thought she might be a little more sophisticated and subtle about it but I admit less sophisticated and not at all subtle is more entertaining! Selena just throws herself at Briana yelling out that she’s a boyfriend thief!!! Patricio stays firmly between the two ladies and Selena gets nowhere before getting dragged off. But she does accomplish the breakup between Briana and Patricio as an appalled Briana admits to Patricio that she dates other people because he bores her and she can’t believe he would bring her to a place like this full of nacos! Briana storms off and no one misses her.
Jesus and Carloca make it to the no-love shack and Loca is celebrating being the star of the show while Jesus looks like he’s trying not to run for the door. Carloca wants him to admit he’s happy to be married but of course he isn’t. He does carry her – well not quite over any threshold but across the room a little and even gives her a kiss but he’s less than thrilled to see the marriage bed covered with heart shaped rose petals. How romantic, he says without interest. Carloca kisses him again but he pulls away to go get her some juice, you know since she’s preggers.
Sam is upset that Jesus left home and now has to live with his wife. Valero is less upset because he thinks he’ll get Jesus’s bed since it’s no longer occupied but the Guerreros don’t want Valero in their room because he farts too much. This is a fun scene with Valero trying to settle comfortably into Jesus’s bed and Damian, Sam and Adrian kicking him out – back to where ever his room is. We see that Adrian too has a bed in this room which is confusing because I thought he lived in his own shack out behind the shop?? They also discuss all the reasons they are going to miss Jesus getting on to them for various misdeeds. Damian tells Sam and Adrian to cheer up, they are still going to see Jesus every day at the shop and they will get used to this.
Jesus returns and Carloca wants a juice toast. She’s in bed now and she pulls back the covers for him…. Jesus is more than a little reluctant. He sits and clinks glasses, he even attempts to fed Carloca some chocolate covered strawberries but she doesn’t bite. She instead makes a plea for a honeymoon; she wants to spend some days alone with him like any bride would want to! Jesus says it’s impossible because of the work he has to do for Augi, but Carloca isn’t convinced. She says, is it that? or the other woman? Jesus says what other woman? But Carloca is sure that there’s another woman who is keeping Jesus from being able to love her. He doesn’t love Loca because he’s in love with someone else, right? Jesus silently pleads with his son to give him strength because he’s doing this for him, and I am just glad he asked his unborn child instead of God because I am sure God wants nothing to do with this farse.
Villa, Patricio, and the Garcia ladies are still chatting about their upcoming projects and I don’t get completely what the project is but it’s something like a co-operative which was Mari’s idea. Mari and Patricio have the whole ‘let’s not be so formal and let’s call each other by our first names’ talk and Villa, Lupe, and Conchita slyly make their way out of the room making it clear that they are team Patricio now! Patricio himself seems to be charmed and maybe he’s already forgotten Briana’s name… hehe I say go for it, Mari! He’s handsome and seems to be an upright gentleman unlikely to marry his enemy’s daughter due to a fake pregnancy and a secret vengeance oath!
Jesus and Loca are still talking about the other woman and Jesus doesn’t want to talk about it but Carloca wants to understand why she can’t be with her husband on her wedding night. Jesus says she’s a wonderful woman that any man would love to be with and Carloca points out that he’s the man she just married!!! She wants to be with him, she wants to win his heart; she begs him to give her a chance.
More talking about the project for Mari and Patricio and Patty is oddly playing with the button on his collar the whole time – like he wants to unbutton it but he doesn’t? Anyway, he finally notices everyone left them alone and he comments how time must have flown. Mari says time flew for her too and they continue to chat about their future collaboration on the same team. Mr. Patty really does have a sweet smile and he thanks Mari for cheering him up after what happened with Briana. Mari says she understands as she’s just lost the man she loves too. He just married someone else. Pat says he must be the stupidest man in the world and he compliments all Mari’s qualities and tells her she’s very beautiful to boot.
More begging from Carloca and I think for a second Jesus is going to go for it, but he doesn’t. He asks Miss Loca to forgive him because he can’t fake what he doesn’t feel. He leaves the room and paces around the foyer for a while before almost reentering but he just can’t force himself to do it.
He runs to Mariluz instead!!! And I swear I am not typing anymore of their goodbye crap so they better say something new! Oh, this is a dream!!! Good, he just imagines himself running off to ask Mari to run away with him but she says ‘your son’ and he snaps out of it and sits back down instead.
Mari isn’t alone in her bedroom anyway, she’s in the living room flirting with Patty while the rest of the adults hide listening in the kitchen. Conchita thinks it’s hopeful and Lupe has decided she’s nervous about this possibility since they know nothing about Patty’s intentions. Villa says something about how Patricio has an impeccable reputation but he says it in Villa speak, and Lupe says that doesn’t make her feel better because she doesn’t understand and it sounds horrible! LMAO!! Villa explains in his long-winded way.
Sam and Adrian sleep while Damian calls Domi. She calls him the most handsome guest at the party and he says she was the most beautiful, much prettier than the bride. She says he is a liar and there were several women there prettier than her but he says he didn’t see any. She calls him a liar again and asks if he ever thought about getting married. Damian says to be honest he hasn’t, if two people love each other, what do they need with a piece of paper? Domi’s words say she agrees with Damian but her tone tells a very different story and she rushes off the phone! Damian asks if she is mad and she denies yhis before quickly saying bye and hanging up.
Fede reproaches Selena because she’s spent weeks with Sam and hasn’t found out anything. Selena insists there’s nothing to tell. Sam is a good man, he’s transparent, he has no secrets. Fede isn’t impressed, those mechanics ask too many questions about Augi’s business. Selena swears they haven’t asked her anything at all and Fede decides she needs motivation. He pulls out a video of her brother being beat in jail!!! He’s alive, for now; but if Selena doesn’t get some real information and soon, he might not be so lucky next time! This demon then forces a distraught Selena to dance for him!!
Mari looks again at her fake wedding ring and sighs that Jesus and Carloca must be together as man and wife by now. She cries but then gives herself another lecture about moving on and not letting herself suffer any more for that man!! Conchita and Lupe come in to talk about Patricio and it’s more of the same story. Conchita hopes and gets excited, Lupe doubts and says all that’s necessary is for Mari to be okay and Mari cries and says all she needs is mom and grandma! Mari then changes the subject to the successful opening of the Polezeria and they celebrate this instead.
Carloca glares at Jesus sleeping on the couch and we hear her thoughts as she swears, she is going to make him hers because she’s going to get rid of the obstacle in her way! She’s going to take care of that stupid florist! The next morning, Jesus wakes up on said couch with Carloca laying beside him. He’s confused to see her there and feels like she should sleep in the bed because it’s better for the baby but she says she wanted to be near him and to feel and smell him. Jesus starts to apologize but Carloca tells him it’s not necessary. He told her upfront what their marriage would be like and she accepted it. She promises not to pressure him again, she only asks that he doesn’t distance himself from her and their baby. They need him and he needs to be with them, she promises not to ask for anything else. Jesus agrees to this, they will be united for the sake of the baby.
Yet another discussion about whether or not Jesus should have gotten married without love to do ‘the right thing’. Dead horse, meet the Guerreros, they are going to beat you now! Sigh. They also discuss the quality of their food and Valero tells them he and Mica are now officially novios. Adrian says he’s leaving for school and Damian gives Abel some papers that Villa needs for his project? Or for the case against him for having illegal plants?? Idk, I’ve kind of lost track of all the business dealings going on around here.
Augi receives Elisa’s little love note and he and Fede discuss who may have sent it. Fede asks if it could be the son of Amelia and Augi says you mean your bastard? No, he doesn’t think so. He’s sure this is from someone else. Elisa is discussing the same with Santi and saying Augi is going to suspect it’s her and try to send her a message in return, she’s sure of it!
Renata tries to kiss and make up with Rodrigo but he blows her off for Emma. Renata goes back to the mean girls and comments how it’s been too long since they’ve given Emma a little life lesson, it’s time for a new one, don’t they think? The girls agree. Em asks Rod about finding her bra moved after she recovered her sight and the jackass shocked the heck out of me by admitting to it!!! He says he made a mistake and he was way out of line, he begs her to forgive him. Em doesn’t look too certain but Rod asks if she hasn’t ever made a mistake. Emma of course has and she comments about her latest one exposing Mommy Dearest to public ridicule. Unfortunately, Renata is still listening and this gives her an idea, which we don’t hear. She tells her sidekicks that she will be right back.
In class, Adrian’s professor announces they are going to split into groups of four for the next test and each group will be assigned a case (to research or argue?). The class is warned to pick their teams wisely since the group project will count as their grade on the next exam. Laura quickly joins with Adrian but no one else wants to join them because they believe Adrian is the weakest link. The teacher ends up having to assign two more students to their group.
Carloca goes through Vicky’s dresser looking for sleeping pills, she finds just what she needs and says it’s perfect to get rid of Mari!
Meanwhile, Don Abel comes to the Garcia house and Conchita leaves Lupe working alone so she can accompany d. Abel to speak with Mari and Villa. D. Abel has come up with some sort of document that states Villa products entered the country legally and they all celebrate this new development! D. Abel explains how he was able to circumvent Augi’s dirty dealings but I didn’t understand the explanation well enough to translate it – I guess the thing to know is d. Abel bested Augi this round. Villa had much much more to say about it.
Carloca is now downstairs and asking Fede to use the computer, he says sure, use the one in Mari’s old office. He enters into Augi’s office and they discuss Elisa! Elisa was right, Augi does suspect it was her and he IS going to send a return message! He needs to take care of this Elisa problem before his campaign is announced and she gums up to works! Fede warns him to be careful since Elisa is capable of murder and all.
Carloca gets on Mari’s old computer and talks about changing all her passwords, I didn’t understand why. Speaking of not understanding, Villa goes on and on about giving Mari something, a bigger portion of ownership in the co-op (???). Mari gets a call and leaves; the men keep talking business and Conchita gets up to make tea. She notices Mari is not looking pleased and goes to ask what’s wrong. Mari has to go to Augi’s house because none of the passwords she left are working!
Domi goes to ask daddy about the veiled woman at the wedding because Carloca says she wasn’t one of her guests and Mommy swears that it was Daddy’s lover! Augi says he doesn’t know who that woman was but he can assure Domi she wasn’t his lover (he knows this because his lover was there with his political BFF on the other side of the room) Domi believes daddy because she is sure he would never hurt them and Augi says his daughters are his life. Domi especially is his pride and joy. Domi thinks that isn’t true because of the trouble she caused with the Iker mess but Augi says no worries, you were proven innocent. Domi thanks dad for always believing in her and hugs him. He says never forget you’re my pride, I know you will never let me down!
Vicky is now harassing Fede for information on Augi’s ‘lover’ and she doesn’t believe his denials. Jesus has walked in and is now eavesdropping as Fede finally gives in and decides to tell Vicky ‘the truth’. That woman was someone who used to live at the Finca many years ago, Elisa Sanchez! The murderer of your father!!!
Thanks for the detailed recap, Darcy! Your take on the events in this (somewhat lackluster) episode made it much more fun.
I loved Augi’s no-nonsense response to Mommy Dearest’s lamentations about Emma. Focus, woman! There’s an election to win!
Is it any wonder Adrián is bumbling through law school and becoming the class pariah? The poor boy can’t tell the difference between Aquafina (LOL) and vodka - an Absolut joke!
Kudos to Selena for her calling Bri out in public (it was 95% Palazzo, 5% Ms. Manners). Now my Patricio is free to smile his pretty smile and give us a fresh angle (away from same refrains we’re drowning in).
The No Love Shack (LOL) is a little old place where Jesús made me laugh. His notable grunt when carrying Carlota over the threshold had to be mischief on the part of the sound people. The guy is built. He should be able to lift Carloca and Baby Iker without breaking a sweat.
The hermanos missing Jesús was funny and sweet. Adrián clearly struggles; perhaps he can’t differentiate his shack out back from the boys’ bedroom. Good thing he’s family.
Can we just have Mariluz run off with Mr. Patty-Cake so we’ll never have to hear about vengeance, fake pregnancies, unwanted daughters, and pozole again?!! 42 more episodes of Sam, hermano comedy capers, and a love you can finally root for…
^I was dreaming when I wrote that.
“I swear I’m not typing any more of their ___________ crap” is a wonderful maxim for recappers. I’m telling you now I will be using this line, and I will always give you the appropriate credit. LOL
Rush shipping on Fede’s anvil, please. Selena needs to go after him with the same verve she had with Bri.
I believe Damián gave D. Abel the papers he brazenly stole at the wedding. I believe it’s about the illegal plants.
SHADE ALERT: when Fede asks if Augi thinks Amelia’s son sent the cryptic letter, Augi says, “That bastard must be as useless as his father.” OUCH! lol
I wish I knew where the writers were going with Emís’ Bra-gate. Why would Rod admit to it? Why didn’t he lift his pink shirt and reveal he was WEARING IT?!! Again, anything to get us away from the Dead Horses Society we’ve been dealt.
My understanding was that Carloca went in and changed the passwords (having accessed the current ones with the list Mari left behind). Now Mari will be summoned back to get Augi back online. This will give Carloca the opportunity to ambush her with the Ambien she stole earlier. This is on the same Ridiculous level as Mari having to return to resolve encrypted data during Jesús’ WEDDING. Really, writers?
At least we ended on a good note. Jesús & MD are now to believe that Elisa killed Papi Mommy Dearest!!!
Thank you O.S. , you cracked me up as always!! I especially loved: ‘ The poor boy can’t tell the difference between Aquafina (LOL) and vodka - an Absolut joke!’ so funny!!!
It’s somewhat OT but one of the things I have noticed about and enjoy with Turkish ditzies is they repeat themselves far less often!!! I always wonder why novelas are so redundant especially since you are watching 5 days a week. You don’t even have the need to be reminded in case you forgot what happened last week, it was yesterday! And the day before, and the day before, and the one before that too! Lol
I am all for 42 episodes of Sam! Sign me up! He and Valero could hold the fort down!
Yeah, I understood what Carloca was doing later with the passwords but I forgot to take that out of the recap.
I would LOVE to see Selena go after Fede the way she attacked Briana!!! Too bad she’s afraid of him
O.S.: Howdy from the Alamo City. Thank you very much for the long detailed recap of yesterday afternoon's episode. More roadblocks for the Good Guys.
SpanProf: I wonder if the Guerrero brothers know who their biological mother is yet ? Or are we're not quite there yet with that reveal ?
Darcy: Let me guess: Carloca is still going to Carloca!
Howdy, Steve Boudreaux.
Those were Darcy’s details and hard work on yesterday’s episode. I merely followed up with some amateur armchair quarterbacking and unsolicited 2¢. My assigned (recap) day is Friday.
How’s Bexar County?
Cheers!
Vicky reacts with very real shock at Fede’s announcement that her father was murdered! Turns out, Augi was somehow able to hide daddy’s cause of death and Vicky had been led to believe that her father died of a heart attack!!! Vicky doesn’t understand and Fede admits that they lied to her because she was pregnant at the time and they didn’t want her getting upset. Jesus has overheard all this but he beats a hasty retreat at this point.
Jesus and d. Abel discuss the possibilities, Jesus doesn’t believe for a second Mommy killed Victoriano but he wonders why Augi would choose to incriminate her. D. Abel isn’t so sure and he points out that murder would be a powerful motive for leaving the family and disappearing like she did. No way, Jesus says, this is all another invention of Augi’s! But why, what does he gain by this?
Augi and Fede have brought the mic back up and Augi is ready to use it to bait Elisa. Fede has somehow rigged it to where it will only broadcast when Augi wants it to. Predictably, Elisa and Santi are sitting there at the ready when the mic suddenly switches back on. Augi says ‘Hello Elisa’ directly and goes on to talk about the message she sent and her presence at the wedding. He tells her that her sons don’t want to have anything to do with her because they know what she did! They know she murdered his father-in-law!! He indicates that ‘truth’ is what actually provoked Octavio’s death! He had a heart attack when he found out she killed Victoriano! Elisa says this isn’t true! She didn’t kill anyone. Augi goes on to invent the horror and trauma the boys felt when they learned the truth. Augi tells Elisa it was time for her to learn the truth and he threatens that if she doesn’t leave him alone all the secrets of the past will come out into the open. Not content to just threaten Elisa however; Augi insinuates that the evidence could point to Octavio having done the crime and his good name could be bloodied! It was after all, a knife hand made by Octavio himself that did the deed! Augi growls into the mic that he’s telling Elisa for the last time to leave him in peace!
Elisa is shaken and wondering if her sons really think she’s a murderer. Meanwhile, said boys are discussing the very same accusation. Damian and Sam don’t know what to think and as Sam points out mom did disappear at that time. Jesus says the papers say Victoriano died of a heart attack but d. Abel lets them know that he found out through a friend connected to the case that Vic Sr was indeed murderer but they covered up the cause of death for the privacy of the family. Jesus admits that the police thought there was a woman somehow involved but they never identified her. Sam is afraid this is true and Damian questions why mom would leave them even if it was, why not take them with her instead of just abandoning them? An upset Sam gets up and starts pacing but Jesus says to not get too excited. They WILL find out the truth, he promises; in the meantime, they can’t just jump to conclusions! They can’t afford to lose their cool and have Augi guess who they are. We have to stay calm, agreed?
Renata’s big idea is to plant alcohol on Em, so she sends her side kicks to distract Em while she slips the bottles in her bag. There’s zero chance that weight would go unnoticed in the real world, but it’s novelaland, so Em slips the backpack over her shoulder and sets off none the wiser.
Adrian and Co are having a garage office study session, because why not? Adrian found a case study and Laura likes it but the two other guys just smile and nod. Adrian interrupts this immediately and gives his best ‘we all have to get along to get along’ speech. He acknowledges he isn’t the best student in the class but he promises to work very hard. Laura agrees immediately with Adrian and the guys come around and actually give the article a good look. Dude #1 admits this could work, but they have to combine it with this other one too; dude #2 shows the additional information and the study group is humming now.
Em was caught with the alcohol, big shock! Vicky goes off on Emma for bringing alcohol to school. Actually, throws it away (I figured she’d bring that home), refuses to listen to a word out of Emma’s mouth, calls her an alcoholic and a liar, and SLAPS HER! Next, she throws a bunch of other ugly nasty hateful comments at Emma and banishes her to the Finca!!! A whole group of people are watching this public spectacle and of course recording it! Vicky takes Emma’s phone too and tells her she doesn’t want to see her again until she learns to behave. An unrepented Renata laughs and mocks Em in the background.
Damian stares pensively at Mommy’s painting of him and his brothers as young boys, Sam is also staring thoughtfully at a photograph. Jesus and Abel discuss whether or not they should have told Sam and Damian, Jesus doesn’t like how upset they are! Abel thinks it would have been worse to keep it from them. Valero changes the subject and tells Jesus he’s got some hot gossip for him. Jesus isn’t in the mood and Valero says well if you don’t want to know your florist is at the house of your in-laws, I won’t tell you. Jesus wonders why she’s there for a microsecond and then rushes off to see. Valero laughs and d. Abel scolds him for telling Jesus.
Jesus only makes it to the driveway and looks longingly at Mari’s truck while remembering their most recent goodbye, he goes back inside. Domi and Mari talk about the wedding and how hard it must have been for Mari while Carloca preps some magic potion, ie. Crushes pills in a bowl while saying Mari isn’t going to steal her husband. The doorman comes to tell Senorita, um, make that Senora Carloca that Mari has arrived.
Fede and Mari discuss the password issue. Mari tries to be professional and Fede just is a jerk, he doesn’t have to try at all! Vicky is a witch and she makes her usual rude scene as if Mari came of her own accord instead of being summoned. The witch leaves, Fede follows and Mica brings Mari tea as a condolence.
Fede catches up to MD and asks how it went at school and how is Vicky. Vicky says how should she be after what she found out this morning? Fede says she can talk to Augi but Vicky isn’t wanting to tell Augi anything. Somehow this conversation just turns into a discussion of Vicky’s inheritance and how she can’t count on anyone to help her with that (I guess she doesn’t care that much about deal ol’ dad) Carloca walks up on this heated exchange and is amused. Vicky claims that the florist is her only problem and distracts her favorite step-daughter with comments about how Mari is bad for her marriage. Fede leaves and Vicky lays it on thicker but Loca says she has decided to get rid of Mari. Vicky doesn’t see that happening, she says it’s a better idea if Carloca gets her husband out of this house (ie. Gets herself and Jesus out of Vicky’s house) she warns Loca to listen to her and save her marriage! Kind of dramatic for day 2 of wedded bliss but MD is more than a little dramatic. Loca says Vicky is wrong she’s got a better plan – but she says it after Vicky walks away.
Study group breaks up with everyone now ready to be a team. Meanwhile, Emma is packing for her exile and uses her land line to call Adrian. Adrian doesn’t answer but Em leaves a message telling him all about the setup and her banishment to the Finca. Emma says not even Domi believes her and she doesn’t know what to do. Oh, and Mom took her cell so she doesn’t know how long she’ll be able to stay in communication. Adrian goes flying out the door presumably to scale the walls and see Em.
Speaking of, Domi once again enters her room to find Damian already there. He’s looking at a flyer for a competition, I believe. It’s a painting contest that Domi thought maybe Damian should enter. Damian says he’s not sure he wants to paint and Domi wants to know why but Damian just says he just needs a hug, a big hug. Domi hugs him and then starts making out with him. Clothes start coming off.
Adrian doesn’t make it in time to scale the walls as Emma is already leaving. The driver reluctantly gives him half a minute and he promises that as soon as exams are over, he’ll come to the Finca and see Emma. He’s not able to say much more than that as the driver insists that they must go now.
Mari can’t figure out why her passwords don’t work so she calls someone for tech support. As she discusses the technology failure with her back turned, Loca walks in and puts the substance in her tea. She walks away just far enough to avoid being seen by the drink before Mari turns back; but not far enough to avoid all confrontation. We all know what this argument sounds like – Mari insists she’s innocent and Loca insists Mari is trying to find excuses to see Jesus, a married man. She also throws in the predictable lie about how passionate her wedding night was. Loca leaves and Mari drinks the tea.
Sam tells his sorrows to Pinto. He wants to believe his mom was a good person. But if that’s true, why did she abandon them? Sam was only two years old when she left! That’s not good, it isn’t right. Sam cries and tells Pinto he will never abandon him. Santi brings Elisa tea that she won’t drink. She can’t, all she can think about is her sons. All this time looking for them, trying to find them and only to find out they think she’s a murderer!!!
Santi tries to be sensitive; he tells Elisa that he understands her feelings but it’s time for her to tell him what really happened. Why would Augi accuse her of killing a man? Elisa stands up and looks into the fire, she takes her tea and Elisa tells Santi the story of Victoriano’s death. We once again see the flashback of Augi forcing Vicky’s dad to sign over the power of attorney and then stabbing him to death. We see further into the flashback to what happens after Augi sees Elisa there. She accuses him of murder several times but he tells her to shut up and never say that again or he will kill her sons!!! She tells him not to mess with her sons because he doesn’t know what she is capable of - this is just an odd thing to say to someone 2 minutes after you witness them kill someone in cold blood – Augi punches Elisa in the face and she falls to the ground.
Back in present day, Elisa tells Santi that Augi decided to kill her that very night. Another flashback of Augi telling Elisa he knows her and knows she won’t stay silent. He’s going to make her disappear, for good! Elisa was carried off but the guy taking her was drinking and Elisa decided to fight for the sake of her sons. She took her tied hands and reached around the neck of the driver and fought him until they either crashed or he stopped. The flashback makes it look like she killed him but I don’t know how that’s possible since Augi confronted the guy he sent to ‘disappear’ Elisa weeks ago when she first made her re-appearance. Either way, we see the car on fire, and then the fire roaring in present day in Elisa’s home. She’s crying as she relates this and says it’s a miracle she’s alive and she doesn’t even remember how she escaped, how she was capable of killing that guy (so she at least thinks she killed the guy) but the accident left her marked for life, she refers to her scar (is that what is off about her face? She did touch the side of her face) That was the night she lost everyone and everything she most loved because of that psychopath Augi.
Damian and Domi are post-glow in bed and Domi wants Damian to share what’s going on but he shares vague feelings more than facts. He’s tired of everything! Tired of feeling like there’s too many unknowns and nothing real around him. Damian wants to run away! Just him and Domi, she’s all he needs anyway. Domi asks if he is serious as Daddy’s words about never forgetting she’s his pride and joy echo in Domi’s mind. Damian takes her silence for no and Domi says there’s too much going on in her house and too many problems; she can’t just leave. Domi asks why he wants to leave all of the sudden. Does it have something to do with his mom? Did he learn something about her?
Mari is making headway, sort of with the password but it’s interrupted by the drugs taking effect. Mari doesn’t understand what is happening to her and struggles to get up and walk. Loca is lying in wait and is only semi-hostile as she suggests Mari might feel better with some fresh air! She’ll even help. She follows a shaky Mari and even helps her walk when she falls. Mari is reluctant to allow her to help but she isn’t strong enough to resist much. Carloca walks poor Mari who is all but unconscious now out to the pool and throws her in. Along the way, she comments everything we’ve heard before about Mari being in her way.
Loca escapes into the kitchen and starts baking. This is her alibi, I guess. It works, Mica walks in and sees her hard at work making a cake for Jesus. Who just happens to be walking by the pool in time to jump in and fish out Mari. But is he in time to save her life? He yells for help and starts CPR.
Where’s Mari, happens to be the exact topic Lupe and Conchita are discussing. Conchita admits Mari went to Augi’s house to help with the password mix-up and Lupe says No way!! She’s going to Augi’s house to give him a piece of her mind! Mari already quit and he needs to leave her alone. Ordinarily, I’d say this is hyper dramatic and ridiculous but given the whole still unfolding attempted murder I guess Lupe gets a pass today.
The ambulance is on the way and Jesus is still doing CPR as everyone wonders what happened and the drivers guesses maybe she fell? Even Vicky thinks that sounds ridiculous, which is saying something! Mari finally reacts just as Vicky goes off to meet the arriving ambulance.
Damian must not have told Domi anything because she says she understands if he doesn’t want to tell her but he needs to understand her too. She isn’t the type of person to just take off on a whim, she isn’t like… Me? Damian answers. Domi admits it’s true. They may be different but they love each other and Damian agrees he understands her too. They kiss and he’s ready to leave for the garage. He wants to see Domi tonight but she has plans with Briana. Damian tries to warn Domi she shouldn’t trust Briana but since Domi has known Bri all her life and Damian won’t spit out the real reason, Domi doesn’t take Damian’s warning to heart. She finally suggests that he must be saying it for Sam and she too worries that Bri will break Sam’s heart, but this sets off Damian’s jealousy of Domi worrying too much about Sam so that goes no where too. Domi gives Damian the flyer for the painting competition before he leaves.
Carloca is still baking a cake that probably no one will eat when Vicky comes in and accuses Loca of trying to kill Mari! She isn’t upset that Loca tried to kill her, on the contrary, she says if you want to kill her, kill her! But don’t do it in my house!!! Vicky doesn’t want the police, the investigation or the scandal near her. Carloca continues to deny knowing what Vicky is talking about but Vicky says she knows her perfectly well. She tells Loca to stop baking cakes and do something to actually separate Jesus from Mari.
Augi is now on the scene and Mari is now on a stretcher, he’s assuring her she’ll be okay when Lupe arrives as well frantically asking what happened!! Augi tries to calm Lupe down and she isn’t interested in calming down. She demands answers! She notices Mari’s speech isn’t right and wants to know what is wrong with her. What did you guys do, she asks encompassing both Augi and Jesus in her accusation. Augi just tells her again to calm down and Mari can explain when she feels better, she’ll be able to tell us what happened. The guys push the stretcher toward the ambulance and both Lupe and Augi follow.
Jesus is about to follow as well when Carloca comes out asking what’s going on. Jesus tells her what she already knows and Loca fakes pain saying she thinks it’s stress from all the commotion and the ambulances. She was scared not knowing what was happening. Jesus helps Loca back into the house instead of going after the ambulance.
Mari is now in a hospital bed with oxygen tube in her nose and getting some med through IV. Lupe is with Augi in the waiting room. She’s not happy but no longer yelling as she asks what Mari was doing in the pool. It’s not logical she points out, Augi asks if she will just let him talk but Lupe isn’t done. She wants to know why Augi had to call Mari to his house. She quit; Lupe emphasizes. She doesn’t work for you anymore and she has nothing to do at your house! Before Augi can answer any or all of her questions the doctor arrives and tells them that there was a high dose of some drug in Mari’s blood test (it’s whatever Loca gave her of course, but I couldn’t hear the name of the drug). He explains that the drug is a muscle relaxer and instead of asking how Mari got that in her system like I would, Lupe asks if Mari will recover quickly from this and the doctor says unfortunately no. She needs to stay in the hospital to make sure she’s not exposed to any bacteria which would be very dangerous in her current state. Lupe is looking as confused as she should and Augi just tells the doctor to do everything he can, Mari has to be okay! The doctor can’t promise anything more than that they will do everything in their power to save Mari’s life! Lupe is shocked (so am I!!!) Is the situation that serious? The doctor confirms it is. If they can’t stabilize her, Mari could experience a full system failure and she could die!
Darcy, thanks again for giving us the scoop. You captured everything with such great detail. Lots of action in this installment.
Augi is playing dirty (surprise!) with the details of Victoriano AND Octavio’s deaths. I’m looking forward to the reveal of Octavio’s final moments. It’s still pretty cloudy when it comes to what actually happened. And was I seeing things or was Sam(!) there when Victoriano was stabbed? I could have sworn I saw a little boy during a flashback sequence.
So Renata has a Costco membership? That would explain the industrial bottles of hooch she gaslighted Emma with. The public slap was alarming. Although Rod seemed honestly concerned, he and Renata are still overdue for anvils juveniles.
I’m not sure if I laughed or rolled my eyes when Adrian’s study group came around. It was one part PSA, two parts After School Special. I’m glad it was interrupted by Em’s exodus.
How did I miss the Pinto scene?!?
I liked the Elisa back story. I had noticed some strange action on the right side of her face in earlier scenes. I just wasn’t sure if it was the actress’ complexion or plot-driven. Now we know.
Carloca made me laugh when she grunted and moaned, you know, using all her strength to move BIG, Amazonian Mariluz towards the pool. Did ya’ll catch her zany catchphrase? We got her patented “Oops!” after the heave ho. I know it was an alibi, but I would tune into Carloca’s cooking show. She is amazing in the kitchen!!!
Damián (still) being jealous of Sam irks me.
Mommy Dearest made me laugh with her concern - not for murderous plots, but for the scandal it would bring to her property. I believe another reason she recommended a different homicide site was because she couldn’t have Mari’s ghost haunting the mansion. “Stop baking cakes and do something to actually separate Jesús from Mari” is the best advice I’ve heard all week!
The end/cliffhanger was rather bleak. Of course we know better (if one believes the opening and closing credits). Whomp. Whomp. How will they explain the benzodiazepines in her system?!! Will Vicky get the blame? Will anyone eat Carloca’s
Cake?!!
Tune in Wednesday!!!
Thanks ladies, I had a super busy day and am just now reading comments. I haven’t watched today’s episode yet but I like you O.S. strongly suspect our protagonist will live!
‘but I would tune into Carloca’s cooking show. She is amazing in the kitchen!!! ’ cracked me up! So funny!!! I don’t recall seeing little Sam at the murder site but I may have been too busy taking notes.
To your point SpanProf I thought it was revealing that Elisa didn’t actually leave at all with or without the boys. Augi knocked her out and sent her off in the car. Granted she could have returned after not dying and didn’t, so she did choose to stay away. But she didn’t choose to leave.
Yeah, Elisa’s face was bugging me I have seen the actress enough to know it’s not her normal complexion but I didn’t know if something had changed or if it was part of the character. This scar is probably too subtle as a plot point.
Carloca continues to feign sickness. We get some gratuitous shots of Jesús pre-shower.
Guadaloopy is consoled at the hospital by Sir Talks-A-Lot much to Augi’s chagrin.
When Selena puts Sam on the spot about his Augi inquiries, he breaks up with her.
Augi makes plans for yet another tryst with Bri. Domís overhears Bri cooing on the phone, but Bri assures her she doesn’t want to know who her new amor is. Domís also tells Bri that Mommy Dearest thinks Augi has taken a lover.
Carloca asks Jesús to bring her some hot chocolate and some of the pastry she spent all day making (establishing her alibi). She then knocks herself out with some pills (benzodiazepines?).
Selena urges Sam to stay from Augi (dangerous) and Bri (loose). Sam likes Selena a lot, but he has to break up with her. Selena makes very valid arguments to stay together, but Sam doesn’t budge. She leaves (even though Sam asked her not to). This sequence was odd and somewhat out of character (for Sam). On her way out she tells Domís that she’s broken up with Sam on account of her whorefriend. Domís notices Selena’s bruised up arms (courtesy of Fede).
Jesús skips Carloca’s order and goes straight to Mari’s bedside. Their dialogue is actually cute, but it’s unclear if this is a dream or actually happening.
Somebody is threatening Fede(!) via phone over some unpaid debts. Fede is squirming and says he’ll have the money after the races. This is new.
At the hospital, Augi tells Lupe to cut the crap and asks why she is lying to Mariluz about her true father. This (angle) is also new.
Mommy Drunkest slurs to Fede that she actually HATES Augi. She’s only having a tantrum because no woman wants to be made a fool of. Fede reveals that Elisa was Augii’s first love, but he left her to marry Vic. Beanie Meter: didn’t he also supposedly leave Lupe + fetus to marry Vic? The main squeeze progression is now Elisa, Carloca Sr., Guadaloopy, Vic, Bri.
Augi really presses Lupe for the truth about Mari with a good poker face.
MD reveals that she hates Elisa, not for killing her father(!), but for leaving Augi. Then he married Virginia (Carloca Sr.) and they had a crazy baby (LOL); then he was with Guadaloopy until she mysteriously skedaddled off the farm; and then came Vic. She knows he only married her for her fortune. Now she wants to do something. She starts by letting her fingers do the walking on Fede…
Jesus pops back into Mari’s room (it’s not a dream). He is going to stay with her and talk…Blah. Blah. Blah. I was kind of hoping he’d let Lisardo out of the closet. That should jolt her into consciousness, bur he doesn’t.
Augi & Bri have relations at their usual No Tell Motel.
Beanie Meter: apparently Domis stayed the whole night (returning the favor from the bomb debacle). What I don’t get is how ¾ of the cast is at the hospital with Mari yet Jesús is the only one in her room. Is it that he snuck into the ICU Unit? That makes even less sense.
In the waiting room Valero delivers sweet bread and quotes an old adage (we haven’t had one of these in a while): “Las penas con pan son menos..” Sorrows are lessened with food.
Ok. So Jesús really did sneak into ICU as Damián & Sam tell everyone how much Jesús would love to be there for Mariluz. They’ve no idea he’s in with the patient.
I swear I’m not typing any more of Adrian’s law school struggle crap…just kidding. Wanted to try out what I learned from Darcy earlier this week. Spoiler Alert: Adrian saves the day and debate by merging his street smarts with some legalese. PSA: The More You Know….
Lupe runs Jesús out of ICU (and Mari’s life). She thanks the heavens that Mari is out of danger.
Jesús is back at the bungalow and has no time for Carloca’s questions. He wants to know if she had anything to do with Mari’s accident. Cue power chord and dramatic camera angles.
Lupe asks Mariluz what really happened at the Ruíz Montalvo manse. Cue power chord and dramatic camera angles.
Delusional Carloca denies, denies, and denies. She wants Jesús to trust her and believe in her as his WIFE. When she realizes that isn’t going to happen, she switches gears and tells him he can leave. He will never see Baby (Iker) again. This emotional blackmail works. Jesús cools his jets and asks for some time (to fall back in line). He then tells her if he finds out she has anything to do with Mari’s midday swim, HE will take the baby away from HER! I will neither confirm nor deny whether I clapped at this threat.
Mari recalls the events at the manse and confirms to Lupe and Conchita that Carlota is behind this.
At the No Tell Motel, Bri answers the door in her robe thinking it’s room service. It’s not. It’s Domis who barges in and wants to discuss and protect Sam. Out of nowhere, Augi swoops in (full suit, Pompadour), announces he’s leaving, calls Bri “Precious,” and kisses her. He turns around and realizes Doménica just witnessed it all. Cue very dramatic music and classic novela camera angles.
FIN
The Adrian school drama bugs me. What kind of College teacher makes one kid the class joke in such an obvious way? He had the whole class making fun of Adrian, until Adrian won the debate but still… so unprofessional
I am wondering now what was so cute about Jesus and Mari’s exchange. I admit that I was too annoyed by Jesus running back to Mari’s bedside on day 2 of marriage and whispering ‘mi amor’ into her ear to listen to anything else he said. I think Lupe is an overbearing, controlling nightmare but she’s right about Jesus. He made his bed and now he needs to stop giving Loca 1,001 reasons to go after Mari time and time again!
The whole scene around Sam and Selena with Domi coming in felt choppy. I suspect Uni scissors at play! Domi arrives, gets reveling news about Selena, bruised arms, but then we don’t see her talk to Sam or Damian or anything. Next we see her is at the hospital the next morning? It feels like something is missing…
Carloca is delusional of course, but she sure went from I can earn your love to emotional blackmail quickly!!! Gloves are off on day 3 of wedded anything-but-bliss??? I guess no one ever explained to her that patience is a virtue!
My understanding, which could be very wrong as I was busy and distracted yesterday, was that Elisa left Augi for another man (Octavio) so Augi then married Carloca Sr. Then after Loca Sr’s death Augi was with Loopy who he left for Vicky’s money.
Carlota is so damn good at manipulation it´s scary. Good thing Jesus had a way to keep her in line...well, away from Mari at least. But I have no idea what he expects to achieve with time.
I was confused about that whole defence case. I mean, it can´t be a realistic wayto defend your arguments, can it? I no nothing about law, but as far as I understood, the guy had no written proof he worked for the owner so how would he really prove he did and thatthe guy owed him money?
Why exactly did Sam break up with Briana? Does anyone remember the word Domenica used to describe Celina's bruises?
