#18 El peor de todos

Ray and Cami are old friends (go away Ray)

FJ arrives at Jacinta's, his dad is on the phone, been drinking, wants to talk, "I've done a bad thing", gotta go dad.

Tomas is lurking, FJ steps in the same color mud we see Renata has on her shoes after a morning walk, the door is open, Jacinta is dead, a gun in her hand.

Fj sees her laptop is in live chat mode, 200 online, he shuts it.

FJ calls Pluto (I'm still waiting to hear what the connection is between them), Pluto turns to Rocio (don't we all love to see her chewing gum and playing with her hair)

Ines goes to see Cami, where is Tomas, he calls Ines and says he's home with Cami, spooky.

Eva fixes Renata's coffee at work, sprinkles in a little powder, Renata spills that Pascual came home at 4 am drunk, plants a seed with Eva, he has a second lover.

flurry of 911 calls on on Jacinta, one was Ines, Gumchew says bring her in.

at the office Ines accuses Tomas of killing Jacinta and Estella, but then can't escape grabby Tomas until Escobar shows up (good timing).

Marquez finds Tomas on Ines' doorstep (she has the door locked), he claims she isn't home and leaves.

Cesar, after a talk with his mom, slides into the del Rio homestead to apologize to Cami, she hides her pain, "does your wife know you are here?"

Ale blows off FJ, she will cancel the wedding.

FJ talks Adriana with Renata, she talks Alejandra, but the police will investigate Jacinta's death and Cami will find out about Cesar and how her family has been lying to her.

Ines shows at the San Clemente police station to report Jacinta's murder, Gumchew asks about Estella while spinning a rubics cube on it's corner, Marquez gets word on the gun that killed Jacinta, same make as the gun that killed Estella (was it left in her hand as well?)

Cesar walks in, Ines calls him the killer, spills on Estella claiming she was shot by Mariana's husband.

juego

Oh deb, thank you! This is a terrific highlight, complete with snark and comments!
That puddle of mud outside Jacinta’s apartment building, dirty shoes and unexplained absences from the casa Del Rio puts, Renata, Pasqual and Tomas right in the spotlight, or ruse, of who killed Jacinta.

I went back and looked, Estella did have a gun in her hand. If the killer strangled and then shot Jacinta, why did it take FJ finding her and calling the police? Did the neighbors not hear the gunshot? Why use the gun anyway?
Yes, Ray, go away.

Is it my imagination or is Elvis/GumChew looking a little less slimy these days? He was actually wearing a sports coat.

Thanks again deb! I will be able to do a short recap of tonight’s episode. I am not as efficient as you and novelera, so it will not be posted until sometime Saturday morning.

juego

Thanks VERY much, deb, for this delightful and helpful recap.

Aha, I see I was right to guess that Camila and Ray would be attracted to each other. I didn't know, of course, that they were old friends. Ray definitely seems intent on making them more than old friends.

So Tomás is hiding away very near Jacinta's place. Why is he there? And when FJ goes inside Jacinta's place, he finds her dead, with a gun in her hand. Huh? Why the gun, since he/she/it/they/thekiller was already successfully strangling her? And why does GumChew think it's significant that it's the same kind of gun that was involved in Estrela's death? If it were the same gun, yes, that would be significant, but.... And perhaps I'm not remembering correctly, but I thought Estrela was killed in the hospital soon after César came to see her, and the hospital doctor thought that she just died of a relapse of her injury. Was she shot to begin with? Arrgh, all this is beginning to blur in my feeble brain.

And why, when Ines is alone with Tomás, would she, accuse him of killing Estela and Jacinta?? Does she have a death wish? I mean, I don't know whether Tomás will turn out to be the killer--I kinda doubt it--but I also doubt that Ines could overcome Tomás if he is the killer and feels threatened by her accusation.

I wonder about Estrela's saying that it was the husband of Mariana who tried to kill her. Did she ever see César with Mariana? I don't think so. He didn't know about Adriana's multiple selves at that point, so how would Estela see Mariana and César together?

OK, the only thing clear to me is that I'm confused, so I'll stop now, before I make matters worse. I hope some of my fellow patio members can help my befuddled brain.

juego

ah VVS, you really add life to this story! and thanks a bunch for tracking down Estella's (almost) death scene. say, if you still have access to that I have a couple of questions, was Estella shot at the mansion or the foundation, and was Ines the one who first found her?

Juanita, there are a lot of angles to this puzzle but early on when Cesar went on his del Rio snoop, and first met Cami, they were called to the injured Estella who had been shot, and together they saved her life and got her to the hospital where she was reported to be in stable condition.

juego

deb, I remember that Camila and César saved Estela's life and got her to the hospital, but I still don't see how/why she decided that it was Mariana's husband who tried to kill her. Estela may have seen César with Camila, but when would she have seen César with Mariana and decided that he was Mariana's husband? Why else would she have identified César as Mariana's husband?

juego

Thanks so much, deb!!! I am always amazed by your clever, short recaps. You manage to make me laugh every time.

Ok, so I think they're going for an Agatha Christie telenovela. Last night it was especially true since they dropped clues about Pascual, Tomás, and Renata having possibly been near the "scene of the crime". I was also surprised by the gun. I thought Jacinta had been strangled. Estela was shot at the foundation. I've finally sorted out the difference between the foundation sets and the mansion ones. I thought the Estela shooting was set up to look like suicide. But then she didn't die. Did they say the death in the hospital was of natural causes? For some reason the killer, assuming it's the same one in both cases, likes to plant a gun in the victim's hand.

I am also confused about how Inés can identify César as Mariana's husband. Since they ended on a cliffhanger, maybe we'll hear tonight how she knows that.

I found it annoying at the time and annoying last night that César keeps trying to blow off Cami, but gives her puppy dog eyes and says how fantastic she is. IIRC the day she came to his house and he said his wife was inside, he told her their night together had been the most amazing thing that had happened to him. This is NOT the way to make someone go away forever. Arap needs to study how some major villains, especially in the novelas on Uni, curl their lips and discard some woman who's been sleeping with them and madly in love.

Juego

Deb ,thank for a snappy recap as the web of lies gets more and more tangled.

I hope that there is a real surprise twist at the end .

juego

Estella was shot at the foundation, deb and it was Camila who first discovered her. It was Estella who told Camila, who told Ines, that it was Mariana’s husband who shot her. There really hasn't been a real link to Cesar so I think Ines is just jumping to conclusions. According to FJ last night talking to Renata, Cami still has no idea that Cesar is married to DAMA.

Estella was getting better, Cesar came to see her in the hospital and very menacing demanded to know why she told Cami that Mariana’s husband shot her. Estella looked scared and died that night. Was it Cesar? The anonymous caller? Carita Sucia? Escobar? I am tossing it all in the crockpot. Looking forward to the episode tonight.

juego

VVS, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, so nice of you to fall back and dig out the facts from when the story was so young. I think Ines knows that Mariana is Adriana is Cesar's wife, (not sure how since Cami hasn't made this connection). All things considered, I'm sure Ines is innocent, even if we see her driving around in a snappy red sports car.

"SENOR 8" Episode #1209:

Howdy from the Alamo City folks. Here's a very short mini-recap of last night's episode:
*Colon calls Aurelio from the hospital where Corina is recovering.

*Isturiz & Diana spying on Psycho Jaime's house in Cancun.

*Ishmael has sex with one of those bartender chicks in Tijuana.

*Laura has some sexual fantasies. Sounds like she'll be having sex with Aguirre soon.

*SuperJavi & Co., still in Colombia.

*Aurelio, Felina & Co., gun down one of the rival gang members.

#19 part 1 of 2

Ines continues to try and convince GumChew that Cesar is Estella’s murderer. Cesar continues to defend himself (with some help from Detective Marquez). Elvis just wants any reason to put Cesar in jail. For now, there is no evidence that Cesar is Estella’s killer and Detective M tells Ines to stay in town and provide them the most current bank statement to ensure the million dollars is still there.

Tomas is frantically calling Ines and leaving her messages to return the call. Cami witnesses this and teases him that he is love with Ines. She tells him that Ines is fragile and he should not toy with her feelings.

Renata and FJ drink coffee and are concerned that if Camila is called as a witness to Jacinta’s murder she is going to learn that the two of them have been lying to her about Cesar. Renata grabs her purse and stomps off to convince the San Clemente police chief (GumChew) to help her.

At the police station, Ines sees that she has 10 missed calls from Tomas. She looks concerned. Cesar gives Detective M and Elvis the tablet and explains that Noelia is receiving emails from someone claiming to be her mother. Cesar and Elvis argue and Elvis reminds Cesar that he was the one who went to work at the Del Rio house and that is going to cause him problems. After Cesar leaves, Elvis wants Detective M to find everything about Estella Montoya. She reminds him that Estella’s death was not in their jurisdiction but Jacinta’s is, so she will use that to get the info on Estella.

Eva comes into Pasqual’s office upset. She is now officially a murderer. Pasqual says he is too and the only way this will work is that they completely trust each other. They cannot betray each other now. Renata busts in the office to tell Pasqual that Cami cannot be interrogated by the police. Pasqual gets one of his mysterious calls and Renata tells him to answer his “dentist.” She gives Eva on of those “he cheats on both of us looks “and leaves to bribe GumChew. Eva does not look pleased.

Ines finally answers the call from Tomas. He demands to know what she told the police. She tells him to come in and let the police know what he knows about Jacinta. Tomas wants to see her. Ines tells him she will never see him again. Tomas looks crazier and crazier.

Tomas is at a bar and he remembers a conversation with a lovely young lady who asks him to stop drinking because he gets loco when he is drunk. She wants him to love her and not necessarily in a physical way. She kisses him, but he does not respond. (Is this poor girl his first victim? Is this Estella?).

Cesar tells his mom about the latest adventure with GumChew. He is worried that he will be separated from Noelia again. Cesar tells his mom if they try to arrest him or separate him from his daughter, he will run away with her. He smiles and says he will take Camila with him. He loves and misses her very much. Out of sight, Noelia listens to the conversation looking sad and a bit determined.

Cami gets a call from GumChew. He asks her to come in to give a statement about Estella’s murder. Cami looks concerned.

Renata sees Ines at the HQ heading into FJ’s office. She wonders what Ines is doing there. Ines is there to warn FJ that Tomas needs help. She claims that Tomas is a serial killer, who cannot be put in jail because he is too nice (WTH?) She lays out how Tomas knew MAD, had a relationship with Estella and also knew Jacinta.

FJ remembers the conversation with Pluto about Tomas no longer coming to the club and Jacinta as missing the extra money. Ines tells FJ that she is worried she might be his next victim.

Episode #19 part 2 of 2

Tomas arrives home, still on the phone trying to get ahold of Ines. FJ calls him and says they must meet. Oh by the way, Ines was here making a lot of accusations against you. Are you involved in Jacinta’s death?

Eva confronts Pasqual again. She demands his loyalty if she is going to continue down this road with him. He tells her not to listen to Renata and to trust him (I am not trusting him at all). She sees the name Kevin on his cell phone. Who is Kevin? Kevin is my dentist, says Pasqual.

Back at police HQ, GumChew is busy working at improving his basketball skills when Renata enters. She wants to work with him using her power, money and influence so he does not question Camila and he puts Cesar in jail.

A shirtless Chuy, (yay!!) is trimming the boxwoods when Ale shows up to tell him she ended it with FJ. He asks, because of me? No, she says, well sort of. She babbles on and he tells her to leave him alone if she is not going to take the relationship seriously, but of course no one could resist that Hunky Bar (remember that bar, Juanita and novelera?) hunk. He tells her to shut up and kisses her passionately. I am glad someone is having some fun in this TN.

FJ is at the club. Pluto tells him that Tomas would come everyday once he became obsessed with one of the girls. Mariana was his first obsession. FJ cannot believe it and Pluto laughs that the brothers liked the same type of woman. Rocio joins the conversation and reminds FJ that Tomas knew he was planning to meet with Jacinta. FJ remembers the conversation with Tomas in his apartment. Tomas pretended not to know Jacinta.

A shirtless Chuy (yay!!), straps on his tool belt after the romp behind the boxwoods as Alejandra shakes the grass out of her hair. Once again he tells Alejandra not to mess with him because he is not second choice for anyone.

Cami arrives home and tells her parents that she has been asked to provide a statement regarding Estella’s death. Both tell her that the crime occurred in LA and she has no business going to San Clemente. Her phone rings and it is Noelia. Noelia wants Cami to visit her Papi, have dinner with them because he is sad without her. Noelia got Cami’s number off Cesar’s phone. Cami tells her that Cesar was just doing a job for her and it is over. Your parents are together, but thank you for the invitation, says Cami.

The security video from around Jacinta’s house shows GumChew that Tomas Del Rio was hanging around in a very suspicious manner the night she was killed.

FJ tells Renata about his suspicions that Tomas is a killer. She is not going to let Tomas go to jail. She will bribe the cops and he will get back with Alejandra who can use her position as Senator to help.

Cami texts Cesar that they need to talk.

Detective M, shows up at Cesar’s to say she is sorry for telling Elvis about his work at the Del Rio house. She says nice things about Cesar but he tells her that he loves Camila. She is gracious, gives him a kiss on the cheek and leaves. You cannot blame the girl for trying.

Ines arrives in her apartment, locks the door and leave the keys in the lock. Tomas has managed to gain entrance and surprises her. He is upset that she went to the police and then to FJ. She manages to get to the kitchen and get a large knife. When he gets too close, she cuts his arm. After much lying from Tomas about not knowing anything about Jacinta’s death, or Adriana. Ines detonates the bombshell cliff hanger that she knows he is lying because she has been in contact with Adriana via email. According to Adriana, Tomas kidnapped her and is holding her hostage. This is how the episode ends.

Thanks to everyone who wrote the last recaps.

Well, I finally had time to watch the first 15 minutes of this episode. This week has been busy as heck.

Tomás is getting creepier and creepier.

I loved Eva's face when she told Pasqual that she is now a killer and he replied with "perfect".

Noelia keeps confusing me. Now she wants Cami to come have dinner with her dad? Maybe she changed her mind after she learnt that her mom probably won't come back?

What an end to the episode! I don't really think it's Adriana who is sending these emails. Who wants to frame Tomás for kidnapping and why? More questions than answers again...

juego

VVS, you never disappoint! Thank you VERY much for another superb recap.

I'm so glad that you were wondering who the young woman was in the bar with Tomás. I too have no idea, but your not knowing makes it OK! :-) I suppose it's possible it's Estela, as you suggest. I'm trying to remember what Estela looked like.

Big Ed reassures Eva that now they're both murderers, and he addds "My conscience is clear." Eva looks at him in disbelief. As they're having this exchange, Renata suddenly walks in. I thought at first that she might have heard part of what was said, but apparently she didn't.

Ines tells FJ that Tomás is the only one who knew all three: MAD, Estela, and Jacinta. But didn't Ines also know all three? (I have to say, Tomás seems a much more likely murderer than Ines. Of course, in a whodunit like this one, his seeming more likely probably rules him out.)

Hooray, another shirtless Chuy scene! I'm glad that he didn't want to be Alejandra's boy toy and told her, "Stay away from me," but oops, not quite yet. (And yes, VVS, thanks for mentioning the Hunky Bar!)

Wow, Noelia sure is a resourceful 9-year-old. She overhears her father say how much he loves and misses Camila, and the next thing we know, Noelia has called Camila to encourage her to give her father a chance. Camila, of course, still thinks César is married and is living with his wife. She tells Noelia, "Your mother wouldn't like it." I was waiting for Noelia to say that her mother has abandoned them, but I guess we'll have to wait an episode or two for Noelia to provide that revelation.

I'm not sure what to make of the scene with Tomás in Ines's apartment. He's definitely scary, and I think Ines is perfectly justified in finding a large kitchen knife for defense. She probably should call an ambulance after she cuts his arm with the knife, but IIRC he refuses to give back her apartment key. And then there's her episode-ending revelation: "Adriana has been writing to me. She said you kidnapped her!" Do I believe her? And if I do, do I believe that it is Adriana who is writing to her, or is it perhaps the same unknown person who is writing to Noelia, pretending to be her mother? Questions, questions, questions. And today is April Fool's Day. Hmmm....

juego

spectacular recap VVS !!!
love how you ferret out the little details.

after hearing her talk with FJ on how Tomas is guilty, I'm wondering if Ines didn't throw suspicion on Cesar at the cop shop because Elvis was throwing suspicion on her and she wanted to get out of there.

I wasn't sure if Tomas' girlfriend in the bar was a flashback, but interesting point you made about her being a victim, which caused me to leap ahead to maybe Tomas was the Mariana husband, Estela was talking about, as I'm sure Mariana could have have Tomas do anything she wanted, nah.

Adriana kidnapped by Tomas, hmm, I don't think he was Mariana's secret protector, her crazies would trump his.

juego

here's a thought, Tomas wasn't adopted, was he?

juego

Thank you Weirdo, Juanita and deb for the kind comments. I have enjoyed this TN a lot. Recapping has been pretty easy.

Weirdo, I appreciate you commenting as busy as you are! There are definitely more questions than answers. I think Tomas is just the patsy for someone else.

Juanita, I went back again to the beginning episodes. I do think the girl in the bar is Estella. It is hard to really see her face lying on the floor when she was shot and then she had an oxygen mask on in the hospital but it does look like her. I always appreciate you adding all the extra dialogue that I missed.

deb, I think Ines actually told Tomas that she did indeed cast the blame on to Cesar to help Tomas out. I am very intrigued by your theories on Tomas being Mariana’s husband and that he could be adopted.

I think Big Ed is playing Eva for the fool. If Renata dies, I think he plans to blame it all on her, just as she fears.

I laughed with how smitten GumChew was having Renata grace his office. He even offered her a chiclet!

juego

Another stellar recap, VVS! Are you maybe a private detective when you're not here at Caray? You are very good at putting these puzzle pieces together.

I made a note last night that Inés, who is getting on my last nerve, first accused César of killing Estela and then Tomás in the same episode. I do recall her seeing César hanging around outside the foundation just before Estela was shot. But why would she jump to the conclusion he'd murdered a perfect stranger. Of course later in the episode both Inés and Francisco Javier feel that Tomás could not survive being locked up. What kind of screwball logic is this? Better to let him continue to be free and kill some more women?

I think these writers are in Florida. California is a BIG state. And it's 66 miles from LA to San Clemente. But characters get between the two on the Telenovela Freeway, completely free of any annoying traffic.

And, yes, Gumchew sure likes to suck up to the rich folks. He's dying to put César in the slammer because it's easy. He was absolutely gracious to FJ, even though he was DAMA's lover and a suspect for that alone. He's innocent because of the big bucks, according to GumChew. And he does the same thing with Renata. Wink Wink, Nod Nod. They'll work together to get César behind bars.

Tomás may be a sick puppy, but he can't be the murderer. Agatha Christie never went with the obvious suspect being the killer. Nor will these writers, IMHO.

juego

Thanks for the terrific comments novelera! Telenovela Freeway indeed! I get confused what is where, who lives where and what police jurisdiction we are in.

I agree that it is too easy a slam dunk to wrap the case up with Tomas being the killer. I only play a detective on TV…lol.

Juego

VVS, thank you for your excellent reporting of every twist and turn the writers are spinning out. We still dont know if DAMA is dead or alive . We do know that she was a wild and crazy chick who seems to have attracted many men .

Then, there are these other women being killed . Could DAMA be even crazier than we have observed and be the killer ?

Maybe it's Elvis . I dont think Tomas is the killer . I think he is too obvious because he is a weird little weasel who always looks shifty. Lets hope that it's not adorable Chuy, Lady Chatterley 's lover.

juego

"Of course later in the episode both Inés and Francisco Javier feel that Tomás could not survive being locked up. What kind of screwball logic is this?" Oh, novelara, I laughed out loud at that. These people make no sense. Well, guess what, you idiots, maybe you two are next.

"Better to let him continue to be free and kill some more women?" IKR?

juego

I just saw your comment, Susanlynn.

"Could DAMA be even crazier than we have observed and be the killer ?" That's actually a great theory. I hadn't thought of that.

Also, "Maybe it's Elvis ." YES, more people sit at this theory table with me! That will definitely be unexpected. I like it. Just wait until there's a gum wrapper next to the next victim. Lol.
