Part 1 of 6
Whether Estela fooled Armando or not he behaved himself for the moment. Padre Reynaldo took his leave, saying he was happy to find harmony in this house. Estela walked him to the door and thy spoke in whispers about the need for caution but Angela and Armando had a conversation of their own near the dining room and did not hear them. She was still nervous about the crime and knew that Gerardo was asleep upstairs.
Estela came back to them and asked Angela how Lamberto was. She told Estela that she and Lamberto were separated and this was about Silvia, who used to work in her house. Estela pretended to have forgotten this.
Elsa did Nora's makeup [Too bad she wouldn't have the time to deal with those stupid braids] and she asked her how she felt about boinking her step-father. Didn't she feel guilt? Nora said in principle she did but she was in love with the man [as we all roll our eyes]. She told Nora to be careful and not come back too late. [She should have thrown something in about contraception while she was at it.] Nora headed off to her tryst.
Silvia asked Antonia how her visit went with Andres. She did not tell her about the fight. Silvia commented on how Angela is sick in her soul and Armando no better. The lawyer had no new news, only had advised that this could take a long time.
Elena went upstairs to find Gerardo sitting up in bed. She badgered him again for a confession of a crime he had not committed. Angela knocked before coming in, asking her if she could speak alone with her son. Elena exited and closed the door without a word. After she explained her presence in the house Gerardo told her this was the worst day of his life. He could not stop thinking about Fuentes; that was why she wanted to tell him she told Armando. Gerardo locked the door as he demanded to know why. She said he had entered her house and she found him there. He wanted to know why she had not denounced him for that. He said they should have. She was sure that nobody knew and he said that one never knows that. He was sure the truth would be out eventually. She kept saying never to tell about this. She was demanding his loyalty, saying she was with his father “when he lost everything.” They had to remain silent and Fuentes is dead. She tried to touch him and he flinched. She then left.
Irene and Hector spoke in the closed hotel bar and she updated him on the situation. He filled in that Armando is being vigilant, looking for any evidence of faking, and ready to pounce. She said “Of course. The imbecile is very astute.” Hector laughed, Irene apologized for use of that word, and the conversation became about Hector's possible interest in Estela. He had never allowed himself to get interested in her and since his wife's death he had given full priority to his children. As for herself, Irene had been married, then divorced, and had no children.
Oliver thanked Andres for defending him but said he shouldn't; it's every man for himself in places like this. Andres was surprised at this but they are friends.

Armando entered Estela's room and she said she didn't understand why Elena screamed at her. “She always hated me.” He asked her why she said that and she answered “Since I've been back she acts like my presence is a bother to her. Today she said I should go back to the psych ward.” “You have to understand her,” he said. “”It was difficult for her managing the entire house, the children. I don't know. She became used to this and more or less had control and you then you appeared...” “But her attitude is not the best. She's always like this with Elsa and me.” A look of recognition on Armando's face indicated that this was the beginning of the end of the masquerade. “What?” he asked. “How do you remember that Elena was always nasty to Elsa?” She realized the error and said “I occurred to me; nothing else.” “I just explained this to you and it's clear about the relationship between Elena and Elsa?” “I don't understand it either.” “You are lying because you can't confront the truth. You are lying.” He grabbed her arm. She went into hysterics, shouting that she didn't want medications, etc.
Nora came back, complaining that Ivan didn't show up. Elsa tried to get her to understand that he was probably with her mother and that this was amor prohibido and going nowhere. Her own situation was different because Andres was free to love her. Neither of them had any promise or entanglement with anyone else. No argument ensued.
Armando pulled back and gently told Estela to calm down. She said she didn't know what came over her and remembering the injections and other things at the cuckoo's nest. “You are confused. Memories or delusions?” “I don't know. But something is bothering me very much.” Armando thought for a second and said “Excuse me if I've provoked this. If I've bothered you.” “No, don't worry about it,” she said, touching his arm. “I only ask that you put yourself in my place. It isn't easy not having clarity about so many things. The only clear thing is being with my family. With you.” She kissed his lips, then he moved in to intensify the kiss. A few seconds later she pushed him back gently and said “Wait, wait. I don't feel ready. Excuse me.” “No, its alright. Forgive me.” “Thanks for understanding.” She took a deep breath, got up, and went into the bathroom. He sat there for a moment, confused, then rubbed his lips with a hint of disgust, then remained still. She looked into the bathroom mirror and quietly began to cry.
The next morning Elena was poised and ready to start the argument with Gerardo all over again. She had called and was told he was not on duty. He told her that a lot went on in the ER and Dr Sanchez may not have known. She told him she was tired of him treating her like an idiot. She left the room and he flashed back to burying Fuentes.
Armando talked to Padre Reynaldo telling him all was well. When he ended the call Estela asked where Flor was. He told her she went home to care for a sick parent. Lily was with them because he did not know when Flor was returning. He wanted Lily to take care of Estela, who said she hoped not to need her. “Now I want to talk to her.” He kissed her before leaving for the office and she rubbed her lips after he was out the door.
Nora and Elsa were coming out of the house when Ivan turned up. He told Nora he couldn't get away and she yelled at him that she was tired of being the dish at another table. He got scared at her yelling but she didn't care. Elsa was shocked at this. Neither she nor Ivan could calm Nora down and then Clemencia showed her witchy face demanding to know what this was about.

Part 3 of 6
Clemencia demanded that Nora repeat what she said. Nora said “Ivan is only interested in your lands.” Elsa then said there was an argument about wheat vs. sorghum. Ivan said he preferred corn. It was foolish. Nora denied that. Clemencia stroked Ivan's face and said that “Like it or not, you do what my husband says.” Nora ran off. Clemencia told Ivan to gather the horses. Elsa tried to follow Nora but Clemencia grabbed her arm and demanded to know what was going on between Ivan and Nora. [Of course, this is a secret with a short expiration date.] Elsa claimed ignorance of anything. Clemencia started to blame her for Nora's accusation, and Elsa said that yes, they walk, but not about Ivan. “If anyone knows anything about Ivan, it's you because he's your husband. Clemencia wasn't having it, telling Elsa she was just as stubborn and arrogant as her father said she was. If she wanted to have Nora's back there would be consequences and she'd show her who was boss and who knows what she would do to her. She shoved her in disgust as though she were trash and walked away. “Here I am the boss. How ridiculous.” Elsa said to herself.
Angela went to see Hector at his nice, big office to talk about their children's marriage. Not about the honeymoon argument, but something else: Horacio. She told Hector that Aurora and Horacio were in love. He dismissed this as foolishness but she claimed to have caught them a little while ago. She told him he had to confront this now before Carlos finds out later. She didn't give him a chance to say anything. She then picked up her purse and left. [Another of her sins about to create massive destruction in at least three more hearts she doesn't give a damn about.]
Estela went down to the kitchen and informed the staff that she was now in charge of the house and they were to come to her with any questions. She made Lily boss of the kitchen and that went over well. Lily said she hoped Estela would like her cuisine and Estela said that he would, mentioning that Armando was the most demanding but that this would probably be alright because of Padre Reynaldo's recommendation. Lily told her that Don Armando said to take care of her and Estela replied that she hopes not to need that because she was getting better every day. She then requested a pitcher of lemonade be brought out to her in the garden and Lily said she would prepare it. After Estela went outside Lily and the maid talked, the maid saying that Estela is a good person and then began talking about the accident.
Antonia called back the messaging service but the only name she had for the possible source was Clemencia's. She said the message was for Elsa Quiroga from Andres Martinez. [This is going to end very badly.]
Hector discussed a municipal construction project with its architect and when the man left he became pensive. Horacio arrived and Hector had him close the door [I guess Televisa finally understood all our objections to forgetting to do so]. He said “I'm going to ask you this only once: What is going on between you and Aurora?” He got into his face about it. Horacio finally said that it was more complicated than he thinks. He even said that Aurora felt the same as he did. Hector rhetorically asked why this had not been addressed before the wedding and said that it was now too late. He finally told Horacio point blank that effective immediately Aurora doesn't exist for him and forced Horacio to acknowledge this.

Part 4 of 6
Carlos called Gerardo and asked him to meet him at the hotel. Gerardo was already driving and agreed.
Estela and Domingo worked on a jigsaw puzzle of a map and she placed Durango in position. He asked her how she remembered that and she said “I don't know; maybe because I learned about this as a child.” He asked about the accident but she said she didn't remember it. Then Armando walked in with Leonidas. Estela had been on the alert and she pretended she didn't remember him. Armando looked at her as though he knew she was lying. Leonidas said that her treatment was not over and it was important to complete all the protocols. She excused herself from the game and suggested they go to her room.
Fortunately the kid delivering the message encountered Flor. However, Clemencia arrived and demanded to know what the kid was doing there. Flor said the message was for herself. Clemencia waved her riding crop near her and said that this was the last message she would get because employees were forbidden to receive them [She must be the reincarnation of Ilsa Koch]. Flor apologized and said she didn't know. “Well, now you know,” said Clemencia as she walked away. Flor thanked the kid and he told her it was from Andres Martinez. Flor pocketed the message and the child ran off.
Gerardo took care of a patient with a seafood allergy and gave a prescription. He asked if all was well with him and Aurora and Carlos said it was, though others might not think so(?) He walked away and Gerardo looked at Antonia, who was at reception. When he approached her she told him he looked a bit down. He told her he had a fight with Elena. He was about to ask her to join him for coffee, but Elena turned up claiming she caught him with his other woman. She created a scene, insulting Antonia and her mother. Gerardo tried to get her to leave with him but she would not let him touch her.
The Quiroga kids were concerned that Estela would be dragged off to hospital again, but Armando told them not to worry. Lily came into the living room and Armando requested she make coffee for the doctor before he leaves. She went into the kitchen.
Gerardo told Elena to stop shouting nonsense and apologize to Antonia. Before she could shout to the four winds again Antonia said “That's not necessary. I don't know where you got this nonsense that we are lovers.” Elena became insulting and insisted that they had to have been together the night before. Gerardo went back to his previous alibi. Elena shouted her same reaction, insisted he was a liar, and that he had been with “that one.” Antonia said that if Gerardo didn't come home to sleep that's one thing, but he had not been with her. Elena still would not believe her, finally saying that loose behaviour was in her blood. Gerardo had had enough by this time and was about to make her leave with him when Hector approached asking what was going on. Gerardo apologized for the ugly scene, saying that Elena was a bit disturbed. Elena said she could not understand why the hotel hired such low-class people. Hector told her point-blank she had no right to show such disrespect to his employees or himself. She pointed to Antonia and insisted she was her husband's lover, saying “She's the same as her mother.” Hector told her off, finishing with his employees are not to be mistreated. Gerardo said to Elena “That's over. Let's go.” Again she demanded that he release her [He did not grab her arm as far as I could see] and they were out the door. Hector checked up on Antonia who said she was alright. He went back to his office and she began crying.

Part 5 of 6
Leonidas asked Estela about her memories of various things. She was consistent with what she had claimed to forget since her return. She knew about the accident because Armando told her and she felt very guilty when seeing Domingo on crutches. Armando came in with the coffee tray and Leonidas said he was finished. Armando asked for his diagnosis and Leonidas said that Estela should return for further treatment ASAP. He warned her that if she was stubborn about it she would be dealt with as aggressively as necessary. She told him that he was mistaken because she was remembering more things every day. She asked to be left alone, saying she needed to be with her children.
Elena got even crazier outside the hotel, even hitting Gerardo in the chest. She would not let this go. He told her he was going back to the hospital and she shouted at him as he went to his car.
Armando and Leonidas talked in the study. They did not know that Estela eavesdropped outside the closed door. Leonidas said that the electroshock treatment erased part of her memory and there was a good possibility that she would gradually remember everything. [Next line unclear] Estela moved away from the door and Lily asked her what was wrong. Armando heard her voice and came out of the study. Estela then said she wanted to see Padre Reynaldo for confession. Armando said he would take her. Leonidas said goodbye and how good it was for her to be back home, then left.
Flor delivered the message to Elsa, who was sitting at the dining table writing. Flor kept watch as Elsa read the note reassuring her of Andres' love and eagerness to bee with her and their baby. The note mentioned “problems that needed resolution” but gave no details about this. [Why the hell isn't somebody driving out there to get her?] She wondered whether her father caused problems for him.
Gerardo tried for the nth time to explain to Elena that Antonia was only ever a friend. Elena claimed that Antonia had been in love with him her entire life. He asked how she knew that and she aid she recognized that then defaulted to the usual nastiness about her being a social climber and always looking to get something. “Like you always looking for sex.” “Don't drag Antonia into anything about sex. Only you have an aberration about this.” “If you're not boinking Antonia it must be someone else.” “Elena! Listen to what you're saying. We need to see a specialist to straighten this out.” “The only problem here is your obsession with sex.” “Let's go.” He tried to take her hand to leave for the appointment and she pulled back again. “Let go of me!” “You are going with me and you're going to leave your possessions.” He got her out of the house.
Meche announced she was going to Guanajuato for the entrance exam. She asked her father if he would like to go there with her and he said Yes. Aurora said she would like to go. Not to study, just to see the place. Hector said that would not be a good idea, as she and Carlos were just married and should settle in together. He then invited Horacio to accompany him and Meche. Carlos went back to work and Hector told Aurora he wanted to talk to her. As they went to another room Meche wondered what this was about. Horacio claimed not to know.

Part 6 of 6
Hector made it clear that this was not about what happened on the honeymoon. She tried dodging his questions and denying that there was anything between her and Horacio. He was not going to put up with her caprices. She said that what happened before the wedding was a mistake, but he was done with this. He had worked hard to have a united family and he did not want her to create a rift between his sons. She looked intimidated when she said she would not do that. He told her he would be keeping an eye on her.
Armando dropped Estela off at the church and said he would be going to the nearby café. Neither saw Guillermina watching from behind a tree.
Horacio entered the room Hector had left and Aurora told him to leave. He sat down on the bed' she was sitting in a chair about three feet away. He told her his father had the conversation with him that morning. She was dying of shame. She mentioned her mother telling her she was an idiot for moving into the house with Carlos' family. She told him that this had to end and he insisted that she felt the same about him. He tried to convince her to leave with him and go far away. She finally got up, opened the door, and ordered him to leave. When he did she closed the door and began crying.
Estela told the padre that Armando was trying to put her back in the cuckoo's nest. Leonidas had come to the house and he said so in front of her. She did not want to enter that place again. Padre Reynaldo said they could not allow this; everyone who had seen her since saw her as alright. She needed Irene's help in preventing this and he agreed. He told her it was important to remain calm. Armando entered and was approaching as they changed the subject and the padre said they were just taking leave. As he watched them walk toward the exit the padre's face changed to one bordering on anger.
Andres was in the visitors' room when his parents arrived. They noticed his facial injury and he told them he fell out of bed. They had news from the lawyer which was that Fuentes had disappeared two days previously and a new investigator was going to take this on. This could work in his favor.
To be honest, I wasn't planning on watching this, but I am glad I did. I really liked it.
I am writing this from memory.
We first see our protagonista and we learn that her NEW name is Leona Bravo. She's at the sea. She leaves two paper boats (in that how you say it in English?), which actually represent her children. She says that when she dies, she'll finally reunite with them. A woman passes by her. They look at each other and smile. Before anyone gets confused, it was her younger self, so she obviously didn't really pass by her.
16 years previously, in Puebla Palma. A young woman, Marena Ramos (Leona's actual name, or simply, a younger Leona) runs to her parents and tells them that she got accepted to university. Everyone is very happy. Marena goes to sell some fish.
There's a small kid that's selling something. He's trying to sell them to a rich dude who's inside a fancy car. The dude, who we later on learn his name is Ramsés, is pretty rude. Marena sees this. Ramsés sees her. When he leaves, Marena gives the kid some money.
So, Marena goes to sell some fish. She goes to the beach and manages to sell some. As she's walking, a young guy who was doing some water sports loses control of his vehicle and hits Marena. She's badly hurt. The guy, who we learn is Gael, tells people to call an ambulance.
Marena is at hospital. Adrián, a physiotherapist and also her friend says that it's serious and she'll need many months of physiotherapy and of course surgery. Gael asks that this doesn't get out because he's father will kill him. Said father calls him, he's outside. It's Ramsés of course. His first words are "you're an idiot". He's pissed at him.
Gael tells Marena that his father will pay for the surgery. Marena and Gael give The Telenovela Stare to each other. We know they'll have a relationship sooner or later.
We see that both Gael and Adrián are supporting Marena through her physiotherapy. Gael and Marena have a cute scene together, almost romantic I guess. At the same time, Adrián is going to give her a heart balloon that says "get better" (I think, I don't remember exactly). Marena really likes the balloon, Gael and Adrián give each other a death stare.
After many months of surgery, Marena can finally walk. Adrián tells her he loves her romantically (te amo). Marena tells him that he has the best heart in the universe, BUT she doesn't love him back that way. She gives him a necklace that will "protect him". At this moment, Gael comes. Adrián is heartbroken. Gael takes a picture of Marena and Gael.
I like that they call Marena "Mar" and are at the beach (mar = sea in Spanish).
Marena and Gael have a romantic picnic at the beach. They kiss. Adrián just has to walk at the beach that exact time, doesn't he? The picture of Mar and Adrián flies away. Adrián catches it. He's sad.
Gael takes Mar to his house, um, sorry, to his mansion. He gives her one of these balls filled with water which has two figures inside, symbolising them. The do you-know-what in the pool.
Mar returns to her house holding Gael's gift. Her dad realises she was at Gael's. He doesn't trust him and tells her to stop seeing him before he breaks her heart. He breaks Gael's gift. Mar grabs the figures.
Some more months pass. Mar is at the mar and is holding the figures. Gael comes. She tells him she's pregnant. Gael freaks out and literally runs away. Not the ideal reaction. Mar throws the figures in the mar.
Marena goes to her parents and younger sister. She tells them she's pregnant. Her dad freaks out and grabs a knife, supposedly to stab Gael. They stop him and he screams at Mar that he told her so and that she'll be a mamá soltera (so?) He leaves. Her mom, unlike her dad, does NOT act like a butthole and tells her they'll support her.
Gael talks to his dad, Ramsés, about Mar, that he loves her and she's pregnant blah blah blah. Ramsés gives him 2 options: a) force her to have an abortion and b) leave all the riches and stay with her. He leaves.
Mar and Gael meet up. Idiot Gael has chosen option a. He tells her that for him she was a toy (juegito) and he was with her only because of pity (lástima). He gives her money to have an abortion. She slaps him and throws the money to him. She screams to him that he's dead for her and leaves.
Some months later, doctor Consuelo, who's also a friend of the family, is examining Mar. She's pregnant with TWINS, one girl and one boy. Her mom's with her, they both look happy.
Adrián tells Mar that he can help with her pregnancy in anyway he can, he even offers to give his last name to her kids! She thanks him, but she's fine, she do it on her own. (By the way, he's still wearing the necklace.)
Gael calls Mar and tells her they want to meet. She doesn't want to at first, but goes anyway.
At the meeting, she tells Gael to stop and he's dead for her. He starts saying things like "WE'll be parents" and "OUR kids" and Mar cuts him off saying that they're HER kids. (Go Mar!) He tries to get closer, Adrián pops out of nowhere and tells him not to touch her.
Suddenly, Ramsés goes to their meeting place. Gael freaks out and says that his dad shouldn't see her pregnant. They try to hide her. They hear some noises and find women tied up. Trafficking! Ramsés pops up behind them and tells them to forget everything they saw. Mar acts very brave, but they're still forced to leave. Ramsés, after they have left, says that they'll regret it.
Mar and Adrián go to the police and report Ramsés. A cop calls Ramsés and informs him that Marena Ramos and Adrián Martínez have reported him.
Mar and Adrián are walking. They say that they love each other (te quiero, love in general, not romantic). His mom calls him, something's wrong. He leaves.
Mar goes home. Ramsés is there. Mar tells her parents that he's dangerous and Ramsés KILLS her whole family and three seconds later calmly drinks from his cup. Mar is crying and hugging her dad. We then see Mar as Leona doing the same thing.
Ramsés then tells her that her choice to report him also affected Adrián. He points his gun at her and the screen goes black.
Leona is at the sea once again, saying that the los Torres (last name of Gael and Ramsés) took everything from her and that she'll take revenge. She goes into the sea and we have the Fin del Capítulo.
Super recap, Urban. Thanks for the key dialogue. Elsa made me laugh when she sarcastically responded to Clemencia “If anyone knows anything about Ivan, it’s you because he’s your husband.”
Oh no, Estela is already in danger of going back to the cuckoo's nest. Even by 1950s standards of the original version, I don't see how Armando can legally incarcerate a wife who anyone can see is sane and no danger to herself or others. She needs a lawyer - maybe Irene can do this since Estela needs to remain submissive to fool Armando?
Armando jumped on Estela for knowing that Elena gives Elsa a hard time. I don't see why, as Irene has said, Elena has always had her "character" even as a kid.
Elsa not destroying that note, as ya'll mentioned another time "Mission Impossible" style, is worrying. Andres writing he had a problem to resolve sure was a grand understatement. I hope his new cellmate is on the up and up and not setting up Andres.
I enjoyed Hector laying down the law to Aurora. Won't do any good, but at least she shut up and didn't start squawking and boohooing about "Me, me, me!"
Thanks Urban, great recap with everything I need to know.
It seems like Estela now knows that Armando and Leónidas want to erase her memories. I would be out of there so fast if it was me. I hope Padre and her sister can help her but the doctor can just take her like he did the last time.
Elena is the one that needs mental help. She was really crazy in this episode, but this wasn’t the first time. I can’t wait till Gerardo leaves her.
I liked how Hector confronted the problem head on. He seemed to make an impression on Aurora but he didn’t get through to his son. I liked the way he told Aurora he had a united family. Something she knows nothing about.
I’m glad Elsa got the message from Andres. I guess he doesn’t want her to know he’s in jail. The help is not allowed to get messages! Clemencia is a bit crazy too. If she catches Nora I fear she will punish Elsa too.
Thanks for the great recap.
Liz
Thanks Weitdo. That was a brutal beginning. What a cold blooded killer. The big question for me is did Gael know about his father before this. If it’s the family business he probably did but I’m not sure. Hoping things get less violent!
Liz
Thanks, Weirdo. Amazing job of presenting all the characters and action in this busy premiere episode. You answered all the questions I had after watching. Ramses is as evil as they come. Marena is rightfully set on revenge, but I wonder why this begins 16 years after the horror.
I watched Capitulo 2 too, but I'm afraid I have more questions than answers on what happened. For one thing, I thought I saw three separate babies (not just two).
A few things have come to light here:
-- We know Elena has always hated Elsa. What we don't know, though, is how could she have concealed this from either parent. When did this begin? Did Armando encourage it?
-- Irene is divorced with no children. Could this mean that any villain in this tale might see her as "expendable"?
-- We predicted that Armando might try to send Estela back to the cuckoo's nest. If Irene and the padre foil this latest effort will Armando consider murder?
Estela should have gotten a lawyer on her case before this dangerous game began. Some authority should also begin investigating Leonidas' torture asylum. I think Hector will probably get involved in that.
Again, my sympathies to Gerardo, who should absolutely stop attempting to have sex with Elena. His own mother is somewhat mental but Elena is worse. Is there a multi-generational history of mental illness in both families? If so Gerardo should never impregnate Elena.
Clemencia is definitely mental. The fact that she walks around with a long riding crop is bad enough. That she does not permit employees to receive messages is a huge red flag with letters spelling GULAG or something similar. They are prisoners.
Urban, this is moving at the speed of light and you keep up with every word and action. So, so well done.
"The Quiroga kids were concerned that Estela would be dragged off to hospital" as am I!!
"He warned her that if she was stubborn about it she would be dealt with as aggressively as necessary". Really? I thought now that Estela is home she would be safe. Are Leonidas and Armando going to be able to forcefully take her away again as they please? Good Irene is there but she will be defenseless against them.
"[Another of her sins about to create massive destruction in at least three more hearts she doesn't give a damn about.]" ID'd Angela perfectly. I give Hector for confronting the situation. Meche will soon have an idea but Carlos is clueless. "I liked the way he told Aurora he had a united family. Something she knows nothing about" was great Liz.
It should be minutes not days for Gerardo to realize Elena will never change and that he made one of the biggest mistakes of his life in marrying her.
I wonder how long Andres will languish in jail. And dread what might happen to him there.
Diana
I also think Leona seeing Mar is a representation of the trauma she carries, she may be a stronger woman but deep down she's still the teenager whose family was killed in cold blood.
Niecie, there are two babies, the girl baby was born healthy and was taken by Ramses and Gael, the boy baby was not breathing when he was born and Ramses assumed he was dead but Adrian's sister gave the baby CPR and brought him back to life.
Nice recap, weirdow. Ramses terrifies me quite a bit. I think only tía Carlota has managed to reach this level before. On the one hand, it's frustrating to watch cowardly men, but with a father like that I'm not surprised. That murder was horrific. I can't imagine the horror of losing every single member of your family. She said she'd raise the kids alone, but the reality is that she'd need help. These kinds of claims always stick with me because I couldn't say such a thing, even in anger, because I'd think the other person knows I'm lying. I kind of expected a different plot with those twins because this tn later turned into one of those of which even I can say,'I've seen this before.' There's also something about the main actress that I just can't like. Her voice gets on my nerves somehow.
Waterlily: You're referring to Angelique Boyer ? I agree that heinous murder of the entire family was completely unacceptable!
Safe to say the Body Count will INCREASE to probably 773 million before this Telenovela is over.
UA: One thing is certain, Elena needs a BIGLY Karma Anvil in the worst way. The deep-seated hatred towards Elsa is going to escalate even further. What did Elsa do to deserve such outright hostility ?
They better give us a happy ending here for the lovebirds. I hope this won't end like "CUNA DE LOBOS".
Thanks to everyone for your comments.
I agree with everything I've read. I'll watch episode 2 and will provide highlights, but expect them tomorrow.
Also, if I could find another person(s) to recap this with would be awesome.
Thanks, Urban. The recap was great. Also, I need to admit that last night the similar "E", "H" names, etc. got on my last nerve. It is so annoying!
I appreciated your "She should have thrown something in about contraception while she was at it." EXACTLY! PSA tmie!!! One would think that Elsa had learned her lesson and would want to share her knowledge!!! (OT: I have been rewatching "Soy tu dueña" and in a recent episode, Fernando Colunga did a PSA about rattle snake bites!!!! I loved it.)
Liz, ITA with your "I liked how Hector confronted the problem head on." Héctor was at his best calling BOTH Horacio and Aurora on the carpet. I cannot stand either of them.
Diana, Yes! "It should be minutes not days for Gerardo to realize Elena will never change and that he made one of the biggest mistakes of his life in marrying her." Looks like she will be going to counseling whether she likes it or not.
Poor Gerardo having been born with a conscience in the midst of that viper nest. It should have been no surprise that Angela would have blabbed all about Fuentes' murder and burial to Armando. I also would not be surprised if Armando now used that information to make sure that Gerardo stays married to looney Elena.
Niecie and Urban, yes, Estela should have contacted a lawyer before returning home. Knowing what threats could suffer, she could have protected herself. It looks like Irene is going to be Estela's lifeline through all of this. Maybe she will get Estela a lawyer.
Excellent recap Weirdo…the fact you did this from memory is amazing! You captured what happened and who everyone is just splendidly. I appreciate all the vocabulary including “toy (juegito)” and “pity (lástima)”.
“I like that they call Marena "Mar" and are at the beach (mar = sea in Spanish)” thank you for sharing!
When we first saw Ramses and his act of nastiness to the young boy, Marena caught his stare and held it. We saw her courage, unflinching in the face of pure evil. Seeing defiance instead of fear was likely a new sensation to Ramses, hence his barbaric cruelty in the slaughtering of her family.
The human trafficking scenes were done all too well and were sickening.
“I also think Leona seeing Mar is a representation of the trauma she carries, she may be a stronger woman but deep down she's still the teenager whose family was killed in cold blood” was perfect Princess. Utterly ruthless.
Cantu is really bringing it as is Angelique. I can’t wait to see the two Daniels go at it.
Thank you so much Weirdo!
Diana
Steve, Yes, I was talking about her. I feel like a weird one here because people here seem to like her. But I think I saw a Spanish-speaker commenting about imperio de mentiras and saying Angelique ruined the telenovela or something. There's a politician in my country who has a similar timbre, only she is impossible to listen to without wanting to throw something at her. I can listen to Angelique, but the way she talks immediately makes me think she's somehow fake. Now I think about it, I could maybe watch her playing a role of a very coniving character. I believe she had one in some telenovela.
Weirdo, thank you very much for your excellent recap, it confirmed for me that this is not a telenovela for me to watch. The recap alone scared me half to death, watching all of the episode would have set me up for nightmares. I'm glad I just watched a little of it.
Meh, I am so tired of rich, evil, nasty fathers in telenovelas. Anyway, this one is not for me.
But I do want to wish everyone a Happy Easter and/or Passover!
Andy
Weirdo , thank you for managing to establish the beginning of this telenovela and all the main characters. I was hoping that we would get to see the teens grown up. I would not have chosen the two young actors ,but I liked the choice for Mariana.
Marlena is going to be fun to watch .yikes . Gael is going to be dealing with a demon father and a witchy wife . yikes.
Cantu was a good guy in The last telenovela that I watched him in , but he plays a monster in this one. The human trafficking storyline is very upsetting , and it will be hard to get those images out of my mind. Thankfully, I watched a birthday party for the young actress who plays Mar\Leona's daughter on YouTube and Cantu was smiling and friendly with everyone. Lets just keep repeating Judy's mantra " Its just a story. "
Andy , I am disappointed that you won't be joining us. I miss your funny, clever comments and apple variety recommendations .
Oh Andy, I am also disappointed you won't be watching! Your wry comments always make me smile.
But, I understand...I am watching Perdona as well as it's two psychopath papas in a row.
Susanlynn, I think this is one of Cantu's most villainous roles yet. Remember Fuego? Shudder.
Princess, no, it looks like this will run just one hour for the remainder of this week.
Diana
Thank you Weirdo for recapping the first episode - you have a wonderful memory! I haven't watched yet, I'm not sure if I will or not. I am torn...on the one hand it does sound very very violent like Andy said, and I could really do with less violence on TV. I am also incredibly busy right now and going to be getting busier as I am moving this summer. I am already watching and recapping Guerrero in the daytime and I'm still trying to watch Juego de Mentiras though I am very behind on that one and need to catch up....on the other hand I really like Daniel Elbittar a lot so I am tempted to watch....
I don't know yet, but I probably won't even try watching until this weekend, then I'll watch the first couple episodes and see if it grabs me.
My internet provider for some reason decided to stop providing wifi. Thankfully, the problem is resolved now. The highlights of 2 and 3 will be postponed because of the internet problem. If anyone can do them instead I'll be glad.
I saw the opening episode and this is a grim one. Not sure it should be back to back with Perdona because of this. Still haven't seen 2 and 3 and will need to catch up this weekend. The cast is great, just like the cast of Perdona.
Great recap, Weirdo. You got all the important stuff.
Need to get last night's Perdona written, so will be back later.
So far , I am very interested in this show. I love the actors , especially Daniel, Danilo, and Angelique. Interesting premise....starting with young love and a tortured teenage triangle before all the evil bubbles over . Love the little community and the charming furnished room that Leona rents. Marlena plays a force to be reckoned with. Yikes. Gael is in between the devil and the deep blue sea with his horrible father and harpy wife. Danilo's character seems good as gold . I still have to figure out who some of these characters . The lines of good and bad are lining up. Here we go.....I plan to fast forward Or surf out of any deep, dark, violent scenes.

Lamberto and Silvia were certain the new investigation would work in Andres' favor because they would need to take statements again. Lamberto also had to provide a DNA test proving he is Andres' father.
The new red-haired female detective looked at the relevant documents and saw that something did not compute.
Ivan thanked Elsa but she told him she did it for Nora. She reminded him that a double life is a bad thing. He said she had no idea how much he loved Nora. [Maybe, but we do.] Flor came back into the room and warned her about la bruja Clemencia and Elsa told her not to worry about it. They needed to keep avoiding problems.
The new detective called Ramos into her office who told her took personal charge of the Martinez case. She asked if there were any more files and he told her they only had what he handed to her. She could not find anything in the file about his report on Angela's attempt on his life. She asked who else had access to this case. Ramos told her that nobody other than Fuentes, who handled it personally. She smelled a rat.
Gerardo brought Elena to the Dr Palacios' office. Upon realizing that this was the psychiatrist he previously mentioned and that she was a specialist on sexuality Elena said “You're crazy. I will have to tell her that I don't have a problem. It's you that's sick! You can't blame me for your sex addiction.” “I am no addict for wanting to have relations with my wife.” “All the time?” “What do you mean 'every time'? We've only had sex twice since we were married. It's evident that you had some kind of trauma we have to resolve –” “I don't have any trauma!” “See the specialist,” he said, pointing to the door.”
Aurora called Angela to chew her out on her interference. Angela said she was looking to protect her from her own mistakes. Aurora told her she had no right to discuss her private life with her father-in-law. “I trusted you because you are my mother and you betrayed me.” More of the same from the past including “You will be grateful later” talk. She finally said “You never think about me. I'm talking about the matter with Andres. I hate you.” She then ended the call.
Padre Reynaldo went to see Irene to fill her in on the latest development. She was outraged, calling Armando and Leonidas monsters. She told him she had a very large trump card to play against Armando and would do it that very day.
Flor massaged Elsa's legs, as she had a lot of fluid retention. She told her she had to drink more water. Clemencia came in without knocking, sarcastically commenting on Elsa having “the good life.” accused of malingering. Clemencia then ordered Flor back to the kitchen with “this is not your place.”
Flor told Clemencia she was there to take care of Elsa, whom Clemencia had accused of malingering. She ordered Elsa to get up and make herself useful.

Upon entering Dr Palacios' office Elena said she was only there because Gerardo asked her to be. Dr Palacios in practice to get couples to have better relationships. When she explained she was an expert on sexuality Elena said “That's precisely the reason I did not want to come here. That is not a subject to talk about with a stranger.” “As we begin therapy this won't feel like we're strangers.” Gerardo agreed, saying that Elena never spoke with anyone in their situation. “No, no, no, no, no. We are not in a 'situation.' If you weren't so demanding about sex our marriage would be perfect, Gerardo.” “Couples sexuality can't be forgotten,” said the doctor. “It's one of the factors for a healthy relationship. Sex life should be fulfilling, satisfying, and to not achieve that is not necessarily for lack of love.” Elena began to get fidgety during this. “It could be an emotional problem of one or the other that impedes the satisfaction. Our job is to find the source of this during therapy.” She started talking about the exercises and other things they would do but Elena only became more closed off and hostile.
Carlos came home and realized something was wrong. Aurora fell back to blaming what happened on their honeymoon on her mood. He told her not to worry; for him it was forgotten and he didn't want to be separated from her. He kissed her but she was still sad.
Angela was obviously jealous at seeing Armando show affection to Estela. He aid that since Estela is his wife and the mother of his children what should she expect? She denied being jealous and he told her that things had to remain as they were. Irene walked in, then apologized for interrupting. Armando asked “What can we do for you?” She obliquely asked Angela to let them talk alone and Angela excused herself with the knowledge that this was something to do with Estela. Irene asked her to close the door “because I don't think my brother-in-law would want his employees to hear about family matters.” Angela looked at Armando and complied.
“Many couples don't talk about sex between themselves,” Dr Palacios began. “In the past it was considered forbidden, in bad taste, or obscene. Now we are discovering it's the contrary. Having goos communication is an aid to full satisfaction.” “For me it is unimportant what happened in other times,” said Elena. “For me talking to anyone isn't helpful.” “Elena, I don't think you understand” Gerardo said. “Today it's important to talk about this.” “Yes, I understood but I don't agree.” She turned to the doctor. “I didn't come here to talk to you about my problems with my husband. I will never talk about my,,, intimate things with strangers.” Her tone was one of distaste. “How can we resolve what you don't understand?” Gerardo asked her. Elena then asked how many sessions this would take. Dr Palacios said that would depend on the manner they begin in and how long it advances. “Of course, of course! The more time the more fees,” Elena said. “You know what, Gerardo? Let's go; this is ridiculous.” She got up. He grabbed her hand and had her sit down again. “Don't be so defensive. We're here to benefit both of us. You're very tense.” She folded her arms.

Part 3 of 6
Irene and Armando played their chess game. She started by talking about Leonidas' diagnosis and his intentions. Armando said he was in favor of it so that Estela could regain her memory. Irene almost laughed and told him he can't fool her. Estela refused to return to that “hospital” because of what was done to her there. Armando pretended not to know what she was talking about. Then Irene dropped the bomb; her shares in the company was her trump card. She could put him out of the company on his arse. He seemed to panic internally as he pointed out how well he ran the company. Irene did not deny he did well for it, as he had impressed her father back then. She pointed out that losing his position is the least he could expect if he condemned Estela to this hospital again. He tried telling her he wanted the best for Estela and their children but Irene was resolute. She asked why this psychiatrist? He kept saying that Estela had lost her reason after the accident. Irene told him that locking her up like that was too drastic; there were alternatives. She asked no other questions and restated her threat before walking out.
Elena insisted she didn't need therapy. Gerardo disagreed, stating that since their marriage there has been a lack of communication, secrets, dramas regarding sex. Dr Palacios asked what he was referring to and he answered “Elena doesn't want to make love with me.” “No. no. No; it's not that I don't want to,” Elena lied. “It's that you always demand it. You're insatiable.” “No, Elena. Since we've been married we've made love only twice. Is that normal?” [Based on the time jumps we've seen they've been married about five months.] “Enough! I don't have to sit here and talk about this.” Elena went out. Gerardo apologized to the doctor and left. He found Elena standing near the car, crying. She asked “Why did you do this to me?” “I tried to help you.” “That's not true. Yu hate me. You want me to be an evil predator like Antonia.” “I was only trying to save our marriage. I'm sorry. I had no intention of offending you. Let's go home and talk calmly.” As she entered the car and Gerardo closed the door he looked devoid of hope. [Which we are hoping for.]
Armando called Padre Reynaldo to tell him that he would allow Estela to visit Elsa if he went with her. The padre said that was good but Estela didn't know that Elsa was not in the boarding school. Armando agreed and said he would take care of that. He was not to tell her their plans for Elsa's baby.
Irene told Estela about her conversation with Armando. When she told Estela that he said Leonidas recommended further incarceration, which was not what Estela heard through the study door. She explained how his attitude totally changed when she threatened to fire him from the corner office. His claim that he only wanted the best for his family almost made Estela laugh. She had been afraid of being discovered faking and other things because she wasn't quite strong enough to confront him.
Elsa went back to her room to get off her feet. Flor told her to elevate her legs. Elsa suffers from water retention in her feet and legs. She said they needed to find Efrain, the child who delivered the messages. She wanted to send a message to Antonia to find out about Andres. Flor told her not to worry; it's not good for the baby and she would look for the child in the market the next day.

Part 4 of 6
Missed due to political fiction: Armando went home and told Estela he decided she should stay home for her recovery. She was to take her medications. She agreed to. He then told her that Elsa is not in the boarding school. She was alright but going to have Andres' baby. She pretended not to have known. She said it was wonderful that they were going to be grandparents. He, however, made no pretense of happiness about this. He sent Elsa away to have the baby so that nobody else would know. She claimed to not remember Clemencia and he told her she was her prima hermana and that Padre Reynaldo was willing to accompany her. He also told her that the padre did not know that Elsa was pregnant. “I had to tell him. He will keep the secret and I expect you will, too.” She agreed, saying all she wants is to see Elsa, hug her, and tell her she loves her.
In the prison yard Oliver introduced Andres to an older inmate named Rosendo. He handed Andres a letter he could not read. Andres told him not to be ashamed, then read the letter to him.
Elsa and Nora talked about Clemencia and Ivan. Demencia [Should we keep that nick?] had asked her about this and Elsa told her nothing was going on. Elsa warned Nora yet again.
Estela called Irene with the good news that she won't be going back to the cuckoo's nest. She also found out where Elsa really was, but could not go there herself and leave the children to worry about her. Irene offered to go and take Padre Reynaldo with her. Estela said she couldn't do without her. [hoping this statement isn't a bad omen.]
Yet another argument brewing between Elena and Gerardo. She insisted she had no trauma and Gerardo said she must have. “You have to confront it.” “Then why did you marry me? To torture me?” “No. I married you because I love you. And because of that I want us to be good. We need to have a healthy relationship.” “I am well and I don't have to free myself from anything.” “What happened, Elena? You've changed since we've been married. I've been thinking I don't completely know you. You're somebody else.” “The only thing I want is for us to be happy.” “Me, too. That's why I think we need this therapy. Don't cry. If there's something we will confront it together.” HE embraced her and she leaned on him as though he were her father rather than her husband.
Clemencia knocked on the door demanding that Nora let her in. She didn't like that the door was locked. Elsa was asleep but Nora's bed was not occupied. Elsa said she did not know where Nora was or when she left. She got out and went to the stables to warn Nora but Clemencia was right behind her as she cocked her rifle. “What is going on here?”
Estela told Armando that Irene would be going to Sonora. She didn't want to upset the younger kids by leaving them alone. “Why Irene?” “Because she's my sister.” Armando didn't want any more people knowing about Elsa's pregnancy; he did not regard Irene as family. When he accepted that he couldn't prevent this Estela asked how to contact them. He told her that Clemencia's house had no telephone. She said she didn't remember this detail. She asked about Elsa's cell and Armando told her that he didn't think so but there is no signal out there. At her comment about how barbaric this is he told her there was a message system. Here the information stopped and both decided to go to sleep.

Part 5 of 6
“You knew what I had been thinking, damned wretch!” Clemencia leaned her rifle against the wall and began beating Ivan with her riding crop. Elsa and Nora tried to stop her but the other ranch hands succeeded doing so and they left the stables with her leaving Ivan to Clemencia's non-existent mercy and her threats.
Horacio invaded Aurora's space – the bedroom she shared with Carlos – and talked about leaving for Mexico City. He tried to persuade her to go with him and she told him that there could be nothing between them. He was quite persistent and the scene ended with them on the bed.
Elsa was locked up in her room, She slammed her hands against the door calling for Flor who then came back to find out that Clemencia had locked Elsa in her room and forbade the servants to let her out. Flor forced the keys out of another servant and unlocked the door and both ran out.
As for Aurora and Horacio they Did It and Aurora was feeling guilty. Horacio claimed to love Aurora but she asked him what he really loved, her or that what they did was forbidden. He asked her why she spent so much time thinking about this. He kissed her and didn't hear the footsteps outside the door. Maybe also not it opening. Hector caught them.
Andres wrote in his journal and told Oliver about his case.
Hector told Horacio he was an imbecile. Horacio was not in the mood for a fight. Hector really let him have it. Aurora begged Hector not to tell Carlos. He told Aurora to shut up, saying she was just as dishonest as her mother. He told both of them that they would face the consequences. Horacio tried to defend himself by saying he was in love with Aurora. But Hector wasn't having it. He was going to tell Carlos. He ordered Horacio to go to Mexico City firwst thing in the morning. He told Aurora to keep her mouth shut and that she was an expert liar just like her mother. He pointed to the door and ordered Horacio out. He turned to Aurora and said “I hope God forgives you because I can't.” He walked out and Aurora cried.
Irene drove as she explained that Santa Ramona is in the mountains and there is no service there. Padre Reynaldo asked why Doña Clemencia chose to live there. Irene replied that she is afraid of nothing and the padre said that explains how Elsa is. The padre commended Irene's courage in facing Armando and she explained that someone had to make him face his truths. Nobody else had done so.

Part 6 of 6
Angela went to the office and Ingrid handed her an envelope left by the police. She looked at the papers inside, which said that Andres would be sentenced the next day on the accusation. She then went into Armando's office and put it in front of him. He was happy to see this. Angela, however, was nervous. If he is declared innocent her ass was grass. Armando pointed out that if that happened then someone other than Fuentes knew about the accusation against her. Angela was still nervous. Armando said he would look into the new commisario. He told her to calm down.
Clemencia whipped Ivan whose hands were tied overhead. His back was full of lash wounds. Nora, Elsa, and Flor ran in to try to stop her. “What kind of woman are you?” Flor asked. “Get out of here,” Clemencia replied. “This is none of your business. Get out of here!” She grabbed Nora to pull her away from Elsa and Flor. “I will teach you about sawing legs” she said. Nora cried to the point of hysteria. Clemencia yelled at Flor and Elsa to leave [anyone catch the rest of that line?] Flor stood in front of Elsa to protect her. Nora told them to leave or end up like this. Flor turned around to say something to Elsa.
Just the highlights from memory edition.
We see the scene with Ramsés pointing his gun at Mar. Her water brakes and Ramsés shoots her in the leg. Gael rushes in and starts screaming.
They take her to a hospital, Adrián and some doctor manage to deliver both babies. The girl is fine but the boy has difficulty breathing, I think. Ramsés gives the girl to his son and they abandon the boy.
They go back to their car. Some of Ramsés's men lock the building and set fire. Gael starts screaming again.
Adrián and one of his sisters, Jacinta, are trying to save Mar and the baby. Adrián shows Jacinta how to try to save the baby's life. She's dead scared but she succeeds. Here comes the fire. Doctor Consuelo is there and there's a lot of panic. I didn't really understand this scene, but I think Jacinta died. The rest (Mar, baby boy, Adrián, Consuelo) lived.
Consuelo has taken Mar to her home. They talk with her husband and decide to lie to Adrián that Mar died. Adrián is devastated. They also tell Mar (when she wakes up) that Adrián and her kids died. Mar starts crying and grieving.
Some years later...
Ramsés is still trafficking women. He's in Spain for that kind of "business".
We see the kids grown up. They names they were given are Ana Julia and Benjamín.
Ana Julia lives with Gael's family. She thinks Gael is her tío (uncle) and that her mom is Gael's sister, a kind disabled woman called Camila. Camila is married to Calisto. We also see Gael's wife, Columba and their 2 kids, Kika and Oliver. Kika is an annoying spoiled Instagram girl and Oliver is just annoying. More about that family in a bit.
Benjamín is in better hands. He's one of these athletic, gym obsessed annoying kids. He lives with Adrián, who's new name is David, so I'll call him David from now on. He also thinks he's his tío and that he's the child of David's sister. His sister has a daughter, Dolores, who wants to be called Lola (I mean, if I was named Dolores (Pains), I also wouldn't like it) and is also annoying. (She's played by Ana Tena, recently seen in La Madrastra and Benjamín was also in La Madrastra. Actually, they were siblings there.) She keeps saying stuff like "mediocre family" and "you speak like poor people" ugh.
Leona is talking with Consuelo and her family. Consuelo tells her to just forget about everything, but Leona is insisting. Consuelo decides that they'll all help her.

Back to Gael's family. We see his mom, Josefa, who's actually kind of less annoying than the others. Kika decides to make a fuss about Ana Julia staying at her room, Ana Julia says that she doesn't mind in which room she sleeps in, it doesn't have to be Kika's and Kika decides that the best thing to do is throw juice all over Ana Julia and say it was an "accident".
Columba catches Gael kissing Camila's nurse (enfermera). She's NOT a happy camper. She freaks out completely, slaps him, drags the nurse by her hair and screams that she knows he has been cheating on her before, while the whole family is watching. Classy.
Gael and Columba talk. The only important things from this scene are that a) Columba knows that he loved a girl named Mar and b) Columba knows that Ana Julia is his and Mar's daughter. She leaves.
We see that Kika will meet up with some random dude on the internet. Ana Julia tells her that she shouldn't do it. Kika is being more annoying by the minute.
Oh, did I mention that Columba instead of saying Camila's name like a normal human, calls her "disabled"? QTH? And yes, she's doing it in front of her too.
Speaking of Camila, there was also a discussion on her therapy. She doesn't really think it'll work. Anyway. After the nurse is fired, Josefa says that she'll find a male doctor/physiotherapist to help her so Gael doesn't have "temptations". Um, what? I'd say something to my son instead of this. Just a thought: maybe they'll hire David?
Speaking of David, he's at a pool helping some kids walk, because it's easier in the water. Leona is there, but doesn't see him, she has her back turned. He says to the kid that if he falls, they'll get up together and Leona flashes back to that time in the beach when he told her that. She looks over in disbelief, but doesn't see him.
Oh, come on. I'm NOT buying that she thought he might be Adrián because of that one line.
David and Leona swim in the pool, they get their heads out of the water, see each other and have caras impactadas (shocked faces). (Again, I'm not buying that. They've changed a lot and they both think the other person is dead.)
And with their confused faces, we have the Fin del Capítulo.
1) For some odd reason, both parts of the recap was uploaded twice. Just ignore the doubles.
2) Anon, I just saw your post! The page didn't get refreshed! Thanks a lot for the Wikipedia summary!
I completely forgot that scene where David said he wants revenge on the Torrenegros (I heard the last name wrong yesterday). So we have 2 people out for revenge on the same family!
Fantastic storytelling, Urban. "Irene and Armando played their chess game." I am so enjoying Irene's handling of Armando, and of Angela too.
Poor Gerardo is doing everything he can to salvage his marriage. Most would've bolted by now. Honestly though, it might be better for Elena to have therapy solo. But she'd never do it.
No idea what will happen when Irene and the Padre show up at Clemencia's.
Poor Hector. What a mess Horacio and Aurora have saddled him with.
Thanks, Urban, for going the extra mile to fill us in with the action that was "Missed due to political fiction." You saved me from having to watch the episode again. I like the Demencia. We have four women who have lost it in this one. That doesn't say much. Maybe it is the 1950's original rearing its ugly head again. . . . They bleeped out some of Demencia's colorful language in that last scene. Maybe that is what you didn't hear.
Loved: Irene reminding Armando he was just an employee at her company and that she can remove him whenever she feels like it.
I couldn't believe how stupid Aurora and Horacio were. Good they got caught. Aurora is as useless as Horacio.
Here is hoping that eventually the Fuentes replacement can discover the truth and get Andrés sprung from the big house.
Yes, that is a big mess. Hector certainly didn't deserve this.
Elena has no interest in therapy whatsoever. It would force her to face truths about herself she doesn't want to know. There are many people in this world like her. I am till trying to figure out what the writers will do to her.
There was an interview of Sergio Sendel years ago when he and the other cast members of La Esposa Virgen were ending the series and nobody knew the finale until two days before they shot it. Nobody expected the ending it got and some of us weren't happy with it. I would love to know how much contact actors have with writers when they are producing these stories and how actors feel about the occasional seriously shocking things that happen to their characters.
I also get rather peevish when writers open the door only a crack on something potentially interesting / bizarre / shocking and then leave us hanging. Like when the hell are they going to tell us what Guillermina is really all about?
Jarifa, you brought up another point: Tell us the names of any new characters who are going to make a difference to what is happening. I would love for this new commisario to be non-corrupt.
Also, Andres can't sit in the prison for the entire rest of the story. We have not been told how many episodes are planned for it but with the number of characters it has I suspect this story will run for a minimum of 90 episodes.
Loved the checkmate Irene pulled on Armando. It would be a good thing for them to get to the ranch and get Elsa and Flor out of there. I'd like to see Irene get a hiding place for them and conceal this information from Armando.
Urban, another riveting recap. Thank you for all your time and terrific detail.
Shall we keep “Demencia”??? Absolutely!
The lashing was brutal, “Demencia” was like a wild, unsated animal. Twisted sister indeed.
“Irene almost laughed and told him he can't fool her. Estela refused to return to that “hospital” because of what was done to her there”. Thank heavens someone is thinking but that said, I have a foreboding that something bad will happen. I don’t know why I say that as thus far, every episode has had sunshine, lollipops and rainbows ☹
“Gerardo closed the door he looked devoid of hope. [Which we are hoping for.].” So much wasted time and energy…
I was surprised Hector walked right into the bedroom. Will he tell Carlos or just threaten to? I almost felt sorry for Aurora until I think of what she did to Andres.
Jarifa, yes, the new detective seems to have her wits about her…one of the few hopeful things that transpired last night.
Diana
I am still confounded at the idea of Demencia's ranch being cut off from telephones, internet, and even television. That might have been believable if they had set this in the 50s but it's seriously stretching credibility now. Just found this:
According to the Mexican Internet Association, by the end of 2021 the country had 89.5 million Internet users, representing 75.7 percent of the population over the age of six. Internet users are highly concentrated with 77 percent of urban populations having internet access versus only 48 percent in rural populations.
If little Efrain can walk from a place that has a telephone, is Demencia deliberately not having it installed to keep her workers and others prisoners? I hope Irene has a full tank of gas for the return trip. I also don't remember seeing any electric lights in her house.
BTW, "Demencia" was a typo I caught when proofing this recap and I had a good laugh at how serendipitous it was.
Weirdo, thank you so much for the fine recap; I love your sense of humor.
"...David says to the kid that if he falls, they'll get up together and Leona flashes back to that time in the beach when he told her that". Your dialog translations are so important and so helpful.
Columba's name for Camila is disrespectful and just horrible. Who is this woman?
You conveyed everything we needed to know and you did it so very well.
Diana
Thanks Urban, the recaps you’re turning out are great.
I guess Gerardo takes his marriage vows seriously, unlike his sister! But I really think he should call it quits. Can he even like her after seeing how she treats others. I wonder if Armando will use what he knows to keep Gerardo in the marriage.
I feel sorry for Hector and Carlos. They don’t deserve what Aurora and Horacio are doing. But I did love it when he compared her to her mother! He got that right.
Clemencia is crazy. Hope she doesn’t beat Ivan to death. And I’m worried about Nora too. But they knew what she was like.
Loved seeing Irene win against Armando. Hope she will survive as she doesn’t realize Armando is a killer.
Hope Andres is freed tonight!
Liz
Thanks Weirdo, double the pleasure reading the recaps!
I loved the scenes with David and Leona. I think it was believable because he’s doing the same job and even though 15 years have passed there still might be something that seems familiar. They are definitely drawn to each other.
Gaul’s family is a mess. He did not turn out well. I guess he is in the family business. So no backbone. And sounds like he got the short straw in the wife and kids department.
Camila looks very familiar. I’ll have to look her up to see what she’s been in. Hope she’s one of the good guys!
I found it confusing that both kids think the main character is their uncle. Since Gael is the dad I wonder why he’s being the uncle. With David it makes more sense.
Also the whole family moved to help Leona but now she has her own place. That surprised me. If most of the violence is behind us I think I will enjoy the past catching up with the future.
Liz
Divorce is not the end of the world. Even Padre Reynaldo would say that.
Whatever Elena's trauma was it's there and she might not remember it. While I could picture her parents in the original version brainwashing her into thinking that sex is disgusting, perverted, etc., that doesn't seem realistic for now.
Unless she went to Catholic school.
As for Demencia, I'm sure she has killed in the past. It is just a matter of time before we find out.
Weirdo, thank you so much for the excellent recap . So far, I am fascinated by this show. There are plenty of good guys and plenty bad ones . Also, we have some good hearted teens ( Mar\Leona's twins) and some who probably need daily detention halls.
I am not surprised that Leona and David recognized each other. I went to a high school reunion and saw a guy I hadn't seen in years . He had gone bald, but as soon as he smiled, I recognized him instantly. David and Leona are soul mates, so they would recognize each other despite the changes time has brought. . Danilo ( David) has a beautiful smile that lights up his whole face .
I think Camila will be a good character , but the actor playing her husband Calixto always plays a nasty guy .
I think this show is going to be Wild ride .
Urban, thank you for an excellent , detailed account of every moment .
Elena needs help. She doesn't like having sex with her husband , but she is intensely jealous of him talking to another woman . Why did she marry him ? Did she really think her groom wouldn't want sex? She is a bitter, nasty person. She only cares for one person ..Armando. Why?
Demencia is BSC . why did Ivan just stand there and let her whip him over and over??? That was so odd.
I am very worried about Irene after what she said to Armando . He has proven that he doesn't hesitate to eliminate anyone who gets in his way.
Aurora and Horacio are idiots. Why did she marry Carlos ? Loved the Hector just walked in on them and yelled at them.
Thanks to everyone for their comments!
"Columba's name for Camila is disrespectful and just horrible. Who is this woman?" Ikr? I'm already wishing for her anvil: stay in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. I wonder if she'll like people calling HER "disabled". Ha!
"Since Gael is the dad I wonder why he’s being the uncle." My guess is that because Gael was young when the babies were born, in order to avoid the "scandal" or something Ramsés gave the baby to Camila and her husband. Maybe they can't have kids.
Susanlynn, interesting story about your high school reunion. Maybe I am just bad at recognising faces. My mom, on the other hand, can see you only one time and remember who you are like 20 years later. Hm, come to think of it, the Leona David scene makes more sense now.
I also think Calixto will be a bad guy.
I absolutely hate Gael. He knows his dad is trafficking women and killed many people and he doesn't do anything about it? Ugh, honestly, Leona deserves David. Definitely NOT Gael.
Capítulo 3
• David tells Leona that her eyes remind him of a special person.
• Gael confronts his mom and reveals that in order to change he needs to release his past.
• David tells his mom that he has found love and discovers that Leona is going to live next door.
• Camila assures Calixto that he is a hypocrite for pretending to love her.
• When Leona learns that Benjamín is the same age as the son she lost, she begins to cry, and he consoles her.
• Gael reproaches Columba for not being a mother who takes care of her children. (says Gael, who has his kid call him tío)
• Jacinta refuses to reveal to Benjamín his true origin. (oh, so she's alive. I guess I was mistaken)
• David confesses to his family that he is convinced that Leona is really Marena because there are many coincidences.
• Ana Julia and Benjamín meet.
• David arrives at the Torrenegro's house to help Camila in her rehabilitation. (So I was right!)
• Leona is reunited with Gael.
Capítulo 4
• Leona begs Gael for a job interview.
• Columba warns Gael that he is forbidden to hire women as consultants. (WTF?)
• Gael agrees to a meeting with Leona and arranges to meet her at his house.
• Itzel tells her parents that she met two members of the Torrenegro family. (Itzel is one of Consuelo's kids, the other is Teo)
• Ramsés surprises his family with his arrival.
• David shows Leona a photo of them when they were teenagers, he assures her that he has not stopped loving her and steals a kiss, she asks for time.
• Gael has a confrontation with Ramsés.
• Consuelo reveals to Leona that she had to lie to her to save her life.
• Ramsés, feeling the love of his granddaughter Ana Julia, reveals to her that she will be the only heir. (That was kind of unexpected)
• Adrián confesses to Leona that her children are alive, but asks her to call him David for security reasons.
Thanks, Weirdo. I'm slowly getting to know who's who. ITA with you on Gael. He doesn't seem to have grown a spine in these 16 years.
I see Columba has a uniform, the one-sleeve dress.
I like the look of this TN. Very colorful and interesting camera angles.
Susanlynn, we don't yet know whether the police realize that Fuentes is "missing." He struck me as a man who was diligent in his work because he had all the talents of a good cop. Therefore, unless he told them he was going on vacation the next day he would be regarded as missing at this point. This was not a premeditated crime and I don't think Angela is intelligent enough to plan one like this.
NOTE: I overslept this morning so it will be a while before the recap of tonight's episode will be ready.
Weirdo, thank you so much for the excellent recap!
I especially loved "Gael reproaches Columba for not being a mother who takes care of her children. (says Gael, who has his kid call him tío)". He is weak but I have to admit I have a bit of sympathy for him. With Ramses as his father, he never really stood a chance. His eyes burn hatred at his son. You can see sadness in Gael's eyes, his hopelessness. He is guilty of so much but...
I want to tell Adrian to calm down a bit, he is a bit too clingy...
Jacinta's pure panic at the thought of telling her son who his mother is was surprising to me but it shouldn't have been.
Everything is such a mess.
This was so helpful Weirdo, you are the best! Thank you.
Diana
Weirdo, thank you for starting and keeping the conversations going on this very intriguing TN. I'm ahead of everyone, so I won't be commenting very much for fear of giving away any spoilers.
I like that Leo/Mar and Adri/Dav found each other so quickly, but it was a HUGE beanie moment, as was all the kids going to the same Prepa.
I find it odd that Ramses is so taken with AnaJu that he wants her to be his only heir. I would think that he would treat her badly since her "real" mother" is the daughter of a fisherman.
Just to add to the clarifications about the "uncles". After the fire, Adrian and his family knew that they had to leave Puerto Palma because their lives would be in danger. Adrian changed his name to David and had to present himself as an adopted son rather than a bio son so there would be no trace of "Adrian." Weirdo, you are correct, AnuJu was "given" to Camila since she was not able to have her own children and to hide the fact that Gael is her bio-dad (and to avoid having go to explain who her bio-mom is).
And yes, Calixto is a bad, sick pervert. It has already been hinted that he and Columba are in with Ramses on the human trafficking. How interesting that Ramses had his son and daughter marry his cohorts.
Hi, Diana!! {waving} Regarding Gael, "He is weak but I have to admit I have a bit of sympathy for him. With Ramses as his father, he never really stood a chance. His eyes burn hatred at his son. You can see sadness in Gael's eyes, his hopelessness. He is guilty of so much but..." I do tend to be sympathetic toward Gael too. And I agree with others who have said he has no back bone, but can you imagine having to live with a father who is so ruthless, overpowering and hateful as Ramses. Gael has been a witness to his father's heartlessness, not just with others, but with him (Gael). Gael knows that Ramses's wrath has no limits...not even with family.
Weirdo, thank you so much for getting and keeping the ball rolling for this show .
Lots for familiar faces . I like so many of these actors . I wonder how can't u manages to play a year truly vile , evil characters .
Chickie, good point about Ramses having his kids marry his " business" partners .
Is Ramses's wife aware of how he amassed his fortune ? Does he also run a legitimate business to launder his dirty money?
Thanks, Weirdo, for posting the summaries.
I was really surprised that Ana Julia is Ramse’ favorite. But I was surprised he took her from the hospital in the first place. And why do the kids from both families go to the same school? I’m surprised they’re not in private school.
I’m glad Leona knows the twins are alive but now she has to figure out which girl is hers! I don’t think she’ll suspect Benjamin for a while. But when she finds out she’ll be mad at David.
The bratty girl seems to like Benjamin but it’s funny that the twins don’t get along. No twin connection there!
Gael has to take orders from his dad and his wife. Too bad he can’t just disappear but I think his father could easily kill him if he got mad enough.
We still don’t know if Gael is one of the good guys or not. But I hope Leona doesn’t fall in love with him. She belongs with David.

Part 1 of 5
Demencia advanced on Flor; she and Elsa left. Demencia threatened Nora that both she and Ivan will pay for what they have done. Manuel was in shock.
Upon escape Elsa wanted to go back to get Nora, but Flor said they had to escape for their safety. They walked to the road. The approaching car was Irene's, which could not have happened at a better time. They quickly explained that Demencia was insane and on the warpath. The padre was shocked at the adultery situation. They got into the car.
Carlos finished a business call to answer his cell phone. It was Aurora. She asked of he was coming home to lunch and he said to meet him at the hotel. She said she was organizing things and he said he would be home shortly. As soon as she finished the call Horacio was on this way out with his suitcase. He tried again to get her to leave with him, saying “You have the right to be happy with whomever you love.” He had an extra ticket with him. She told him not to insist; she was his brother's wife and that will not change. “If you love me you will leave for my good.” He said No and if she loved him she should be at the airport by 6. He left.
Demencia blamed this whole situation on Nora, saying she is lucky to be her daughter or she would suffer the same. She would never forgive her, even calling her ramera. When Nora said that she and Ivan were in love Demencia grabbed him by the hair and asked him. He actually said he loved Nora. Demencia then looked at Nora and said “I hate you. I curse the say you were born.” Nora replied that her words don't hurt her. Demencia raised her riding crop, Ivan protested, and Manuel ran in to tell her that Irene Caceres just arrived with a priest.
Aurora thought about Horacio's parting words. Carlos arrived and talked about the building of their new “house of your dreams.” [This man should find a woman worthy of him.] Carlos asked about Horacio. It was odd for him to leave without saying goodbye. Aurora claimed ignorance. She said that he was probably bored and preferred the big city. Carlos agreed. A maid came in to tell Aurora that there was a policeman who was there to talk to her. He handed her an official envelope. Carlos looked at this; he had never known any of this.
Demencia tried to pretend nothing was wrong but Irene knew what she was confronting. When Demencia said she was solving a problem involving a peon Flor called her a liar and called her out on her abuse. Demencia ordered Flor to the kitchen but Irene told her she had no authority over Flor and ordered her to apologize to her and explain what was happening “because now you answer to me!”
Aurora continued the lie about Andres to Carlos and although he did not believe it at first he fell for it. He asked why she hid this from him and she said she didn't want anyone to know. “It was so horrible.” She played this well enough that he believed her and promised to protect her.

Part 2 of 5
Estela visited Hector and told him what happened. She also said that faking the amnesia becomes more difficult every day. He understood. She thanked him for helping her to escape the insane asylum and he told her he could always count on him being at her side.
Armando visited the new commisario, Natalia Chavez. She read his facial expression and said he must have been expecting a man in this job. He admitted so and she told him that after a while he would see her competence. He merely came to introduce himself and say he would help in the pursuit of justice(?)
The inmates played fútbol; Andres' team won. After that Andres offered to teach Rosendo how to read. He accepted and went to Andres' cell where he had pens and paper.
Irene and Elsa talked about Ivan and Nora. Irene had been under the impression that Ivan had raped Nora, but Elsa corrected that. Ivan was much younger than Demencia and got romantically involved with Nora. She locked both of the up and was whipping Ivan since the night before. Irene was shocked, saying this was inhuman. Irene immediately got up to confront the demon.
Dementia told Irene that Nora was working on the ranch and asked how long she intended to stay. Irene answered that until she was satisfied that Elsa was alright because Estela was worried about her. At the next question Irene said that Estela needed to be with the other children. Demencia didn't seem to know how many children Armando and Estela had and she made a comment about breeding like rabbits. When Irene said she was going to look for Nora Demencia said she would send someone to fetch her.
Ivan and Nora were still in the stables with their hands tied. She was trying to free herself while he was in major pain from the whipping. She freed herself and picked up a blanket to cover him. Demencia shouted for Manuel to fetch Nora who wanted to escape with Ivan. Manuel began realizing how insane his godmother was. Nora told him they had to escape and he should, too. He agreed and they started planning. He told her she had to go back to the house. She and Ivan kissed and she was out the door.
Lamberto told Silvia that the next day was the day of verdict and possible sentencing. Both looked worried.
Demencia told the padre what was grown on the property. Also that they live mostly on what they grow and purchase very little. They live without luxuries [Is electricity one of those?] When Nora returned Demencia introduced her to Irene and Padre Reynaldo. Irene became concerned when she saw the bruises on her face. Demencia ordered her to change so she went up to Elsa and told her she was not at fault over any of this. Moreover, that she had convinced Manuel to escape with them. All Elsa had to do was to keep Demencia distracted.

Part 3 of 5
Armando noticed that Angela was drinking again; there was vodka in her glass. He then sat down and told Angela about the new commisario. A woman who – unlike Fuentes – was not corruptible. Angela was paranoid again about the charges she filed against Andres. Armando said he did not know whether Fuentes had disposed of the statements made that Andres had attempted to rape Aurora. Angela became afraid and he told her that if it came to that he would find her a good lawyer for her defense. There was nothing else they could do and No, he could not accompany her to the courtroom. He left and she picked up the glass and drank again.
Gerardo got up early because they had a therapy appointment but Elena did not want to go. He told her it was about saving their marriage. She agreed , but reluctantly, and went with him.
Irene told Elsa that her mother was at home. The younger children are happy and Estela stayed home with them to reassure them. She told her about the posters, what Padre Reynaldo did, that Estela is faking amnesia, and how Armando reacted. Finally, that Armando tried to put Estela back into the manicomio and that she herself prevented that from happening.
Manuel cleaned Ivan's wounds and gave him some pills for the pain. Ivan then talked about the old ranch house and Manuel said he would take him there. He then left to get Ivan some food.
Gerardo and Elena went to Dr Palacios who wanted to see Elena alone first. This was for her to figure out how to proceed because of things that they may not have told each other. Gerardo was good with this. Elena did not look cooperative and said for the millionth time she did not want to discuss these things with a stranger. Dr Palacios reminded her that she was her therapist and there to help her. Gerardo excused himself and left the room.
Irene asked Elsa about her pregnancy. She asked about an ultrasound and Elsa told her that she had not had one. Irene was concerned for her health and told her she was going to ask Demencia about healthcare in this area. When Irene asked Elsa what she expected to do after the baby was born she replied that she and Andres would marry and begin their family which would not please her father and that was why he hid here there. Irene then told Elsa she was a legal adult who didn't need to hide because nobody could stop her. Elsa thanked her for her help and reminded her that usually nothing stops her father.
Dr Palacios asked Elena why she came back and Elena replied that it was about saving their marriage. The good doctor then asked her whether she thought her marriage was in danger. Elena said No, but Gerardo's obsession with sex needs to go. Dr Palacios asked Elena if she had ever had sex with anyone else before Gerardo. She emphatically said No; she considered such women to be sluts. When Dr Palacios asked about why Elena rejects sex with her husband and mentioned sexual abuse Elena became agitated and left.

Part 4 of 5
Meche asked her father about Horacio and why he left town. She was not satisfied with his answer and said there had to be a reason. Carlos came down for breakfast and Meche served some quesadillas to Hector. Aurora wasn't home and Hector looked like he suspected something.
Horacio was at the airport repeatedly checking his cell phone. At one point he saw a woman of Aurora's size and ran up to her only to see it was someone else.
Lamberto and Aurora talked. He was questioning her to see what really happened. She evaded the question by saying “You know my answer.” He asked “Yes or no? And look me in the eyes.” He told her there would need to be medical tests and exams [at this late date?]; she was not willing to consent to this. He told her to think about this because now was the time to retract her statement. She told him to think about Andres because he didn't care about her. She said to leave her alone and then walked out on him.
Manuel drove Ivan to “the old ranch”, left him there, then drove back.
Meche talked about her future academic life. Aurora came in and Hector asked where she had been all day. She said she was with her father. He let her stew a moment and told her to sit down for dinner [Quesadillas again?] Aurora thanked him but said she wasn't hungry; she was just going to have coffee.
The younger Quiroga kids were sent to bed. Estela said she would tell them a story. They left the dining room. Armando also excused himself, saying he also wanted sleep. Gerardo touched Elena 's hair and she demanded an apology from him about dragging her to therapy. “It was torture.” He told her that therefore there was something bothering her that had to be dealt with. She interrupted him, saying to shut up. He asked if there was something she didn't want to talk about and again she told him to shut up. When he said that talking about it was the only way to deal with is she went for Strike three, started hyperventilating, and threw a glass of water into his face. “I hate you, Gerardo,” she said just as Lily came into the dining room and asked her if she was alright. She escorted Elena away from the table and presumably up to her room.
At the dinner table Demencia talked about children in the nearby town that had not been baptized andd she asked Padre Reynaldo whether he could do that. He happily agreed to do so when Manuel arrived and told Demencia privately that Ivan had escaped. She told her guests to excuse her to deal with Manuel and left the dining room [which actually had an electric table lamp on the sideboard.] Elsa and Nora looked worried.
Horacio resisted the temptation to call Aurora. His flight was called. He left Aurora's boarding pass in the lobby and left with his suitcase.
Demencia got several ranch hands on horseback and off they were.
Andres was awakened to be informed that court would be in the morning when the judge would hand down sentence [No trial?]. The correction officer told him he would need to wake up at 6AM.

Part 5 of 5
Elena feigned sleep when Gerardo came into the bedroom. When she heard the bathroom door close she sat up with a Resting Bitch Face.
The next morning Silvia, Antonia, and Lamberto appeared at the facility. Andres was escorted in wearing his khaki prison uniform. Silvia tried to talk to him but an official appeared saying that he had to come in first. They and Andres' lawyer followed, followed by Angela and Aurora. Aurora paused as they approached the courtroom entrance. Angela asked her what was up with her. Aurora answered “Nothing, Mother. Nothing happened.” Angela reached and guided her inside.
Elsa and Padre Reynaldo talked and he told her that Andres was in prison.
Cut to the judge's decision: On the basis of existing evidence and typical situations past Andres was declared guilty and sentenced to eight years effective immediately. Silvia dried out, Antonia accused Aurora of lying. Both women declared Andres innocent. The judge demanded silence. Andres said to Aurora that her mother demanded that she lie about this.
Fin de Capitulo
This is an outrage but I suspect that Fuentes destroyed or hid the original statements made by Aurora. If he deleted them from the computer records there is a way that an IT pro can retrieve them but how many episodes will pass before anyone thinks of this? If there is a hard copy with the date on it he hid it somewhere. Thus far it doesn't appear that the police realize that he is missing in action.
Which might lull Angela into a false feeling of security.
Prediction, not Spoiler: Andres will still be in prison when Elsa's baby is born and likely for at least a year after. He will probably end up cleaning up the illiteracy in the prison before he gets out. Those documents are likely to still exist because Fuentes was smart enough not to trust Angela or Armando. My theory about him substituting another weapon when returning Armando's pistol is still in my thoughts. The mystery is where these things currently are.
Rgv Chick, "How interesting that Ramses had his son and daughter marry his cohorts". Such a wise and astute observation which I hand't considered! Calixto and Columba both make my skin crawl. Perhaps Ramses sees the purity and honesty in Ana Julia, who is genuinely kind and loving. She is untainted by his cruelty and wants nothing from him, and most importantly, is unafraid. Seeing Gael's fear must surely stoke Ramses' contempt and disdain. He would never make him his heir.
Susanlynn, I'm sure Josefa knows who her husband is. Does she know everything? I'm sure we will soon sed.
Liz, I'm also interested in seeing what happens with Gael. When he first saw Leona, the way he looked at her could have broken her heart. I don't think Leona and Gael are done. By a long shot...I don't know how David is going to keep Benjamin's identity from Leona. And yes, she is not going to be happy because his family wants him to keep quiet. So sad...
Diana
Urban, this is excellent.
Irene and the good padre aren't even considering leaving Elsa there are they?? Besides the fact she is in the middle of nowhwere without proper prenatal care, it's obvious Demencia is clearly out of her mind and the last person a pregnant Elsa should be left with.
Ivan didn't get far enough away and I shudder to think of what will happen next once they find him.
Natalia is sharp but as you noted Urban, documentation is missing.
Did Elsa not realize Andres was still in jail??
Aurora is compounding her guilt by not recanting her testimony. There are going to be terrible repercussions, all of this while she waffles back and forth between Carlos and the charmless Horacio.
It appears we might gleen some insight into what happened to Elena...I don't know how Gerardo can stand being with him. I give him credit for trying to fix things but I don't see it happening.
I fear Andres will be locked up for some time as well.
Diana
Thanks, Urban. Excellent recap. “Resting Bitch Face” - lol.
Yikes. Eight years based on the words (no evidence like torn clothes, doctor medical or psych exam, etc., plus they even let the alleged attempted rapist sleep overnight in their house after the alleged attack and didn't call the police) of two females who lie about everything under the sun. I thought for sure the new comisario meant a renewed investigation. Fooled me.
I give him [Gerardo] credit for trying to fix things but I don't see it happening.
Diana, ITA. Let's say the therapist can successfully treat Elena's sex issue, Gerardo will still have an unlikable, selfish B on his hands. I guess this is a PSA for, at the least, talking about sex before you get hitched. Would've Elena have said, "twice in five months, with you begging first each time is sufficient"?
I guess the good news for Viewerville is that Andres is in a good crew in prison, but that can change on a dime.
I don't see how Hector will be able to stand Aurora in his house.
Nora is flawed and has a short fuse (who wouldn't with a maniac mom like Clemencia) but she has feelings and cares about Elsa, so I care about her. If she wants Ivan, I hope they manage to be together after escaping.
Irene to the rescue.
Chickie and Diana, Gael is weakwilled and beatendown by his awful father , but I think his teenage heart did love Mar. The look that he gave her showed all the emotions that have been pent up all these years . He did rescue his nasty daughter from that party and reprimand her for pushing Ana Julia into the pool. Just wait until Like fines out that she and AJ are sisters , not cousins .
Sometimes in the past, families of teens who had babies would let the world think that the teens were actually siblings. Bobby Darren was raised thinking that his grandmother was his mother , but his sister was actually his mother . Ramses forced Gael to pretend he was AJ's tio , but at least he could be around his baby girl , unlike Mar\Leona who thought both her babies and Adrian had died .
Watching the grownup teen triangle interact will be interesting . Add Colunba into that mix and ....
Liz, I think that Gael is a tragic figure in this show. In literature , they talk about the hero's journey , but perhaps here we will get Gael's journey getting himself out from under the thumbs both his truly evil father and his controlling wife.
Watching awful Ramses embracing AJ knowing that he traffics girls made me cringe . I suppose that somehow his corrupt black heart is intrigued by her innocence and goodness . I hope Gael had something to do with some of AJ's sweet nature . Perhaps it is a case of nature vs nurture and her biological mother's goodness has helped to shape AJ.
I think that the writers had to be careful how the twins met. They didn't want them to be attracted to each other, so they met and were at odds.
Good point, Diana, about Aurora compounding her guilt. This will come back to bite her on the tuchas: Not just herself and her slut of a mother but Carlos and his family. This would not bode well for Hector who is now mayor of this town.
More good points, Niecie, about the lack of other evidence and the fact that Andres slept overnight in the Montero house. Also, what happened to Lamberto's statement and the meaning of no immediate call to the police? As to the latter, rape is so underreported almost anywhere that this last thing might not even be in anyone's mind.
If Lamberto makes it public that he is Andres' biological father, how would that go over? We know that Angela and Aurora will try to prevent this but they have no legal right to do so. Their reactions would likely draw the kind of attention that they don't want.
It looks like Elsa never knew Andres was in jail in the first place because the padre and Estela may have decided not to give her this kind of bad news that would certainly raise her stress level.
Knowing what they know now I doubt that Irene and the padre will leave Elsa there with Demencia, whom we may need to downgrade to "Demonica." Since Irene has the money to do this she should take Elsa somewhere far away to hide under a pseudonym before anyone has any chance to find her. As Irene finally pointed out she is a legal adult who doesn't have to do as her parents tell her to. Armando has no legal right to imprison her as he has, force her to have an abortion, or demand that the baby be given up for adoption. To do this could -- and Irene would see to it that it would -- cause a scandal that people like Armando would be scared witless of. It could cost him his position in the company and get him a very bad rep in the town.
Thanks, Urban. Great that you caught the name of the new comisario. I am not ready to write her off yet. She just arrived on the job.
I was disappointed that Elsa was so meek when Irene reminded her she was no longer a minor and could do what she wanted. Really? After all Armando has done ot her? Where is her brain? Just until she finds out what else daddy dearest has in store for her before, during or after the fact.
Diana, it is hard to believe that the good father and Irene are planning on leaving Elsa out at the ranch but it sure seems like it.
Niecie, it is truly “Irene to the rescue.” No pre-natal care on the schedule until Irene arrived? Really?
"I guess the good news for Viewerville is that Andres is in a good crew in prison...". Yes, well said Niecie! While everything is volatile and subject to change, I feel Andres' support and kindness will keep him out of harms way. How ironic he is safer in jail than outside of it.
"I was disappointed that Elsa was so meek when Irene reminded her she was no longer a minor and could do what she wanted" is exactly right Jarifa. I like Estela but Irene is the fire, the enouragement, the voice of reason that Elsa so desperately needs to hear.
"Demencia, whom we may need to downgrade to "Demonica." Urban, I just laughed out loud. Too, too funny!
Diana
Remember that the padre has a plan. He agreed to Armando's but is likely to pick a couple who will comply with accepting the baby, going to another area, and return the baby to Elsa when she is sufficiently recovered. As far as we know he hasn't yet confided this to Irene.
Now is the time.
The big however in all this is that since Andres has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a crime we know he did not commit he might have trouble finding one or if he can find one said couple might change their minds and refuse to return the infant. The one thing that could save that situation would be if Lamberto's divorce becomes final in the next four months and he marries Silvia. As the grandparents of this infant they could probably get custody. However, this will require Elsa's cooperation and if she has complications...
Elsa needs a lawyer no matter what.
Now as for Elena, it's obvious that there was some traumatic event in her life. We've waited ages for this to be addressed so there better not be much more delay on this. Gerardo needs to take a strong stand here. He is not a sex addict, just a normal man wanting to make love to his wife. Her rejection of his advances compounded with her refusal to accept treatment could get him an annulment. The question is whether he first has to divorce Elena in civil court. If that is the case she might drag that out forever.
Urban, you delivered every daunting moment with style .
Yikes, what happened to Elena that made her think that Gerardo was a sex addict because they had sex twice in five months? Que??? She must have persuaded him that they should wait until they were married to sleep together , but they are married now . What happened to her ? She is rude and nasty to literally everyone except her awful father. Where are the writers going with this storyline ?
Are Irene and Estela the nieces of BSC Demencia?
Irene isn't afraid of Armando , but maybe she should be . Armando could decide to kill her .
Thanks, Urban, that was an excellent recap. Is Demancia really Manuel’s Godmother or is their another meaning for this. I didn’t realize she asked Padre to baptize the kids at other ranches. That’s a contradiction of what we’re seen so far.
Everyone needs to escape that hellhole of a ranch. Surely Irene won’t leave Elsa there. And I wonder if Dementia knows who really holds the purse strings. Armando is giving her money but it is the two sisters company.
Aurora has no conscience. She slept with her husbands brother with no guilt. So I wonder if sending Andres to jail for eight years will really bother her.
The trial was a joke. His lawyer didn’t even get to speak, no one testified. I have hopes that the woman that took Fuentes’ place will do some investigating.
Poor Geraldo, maybe if they can get to the bottom of Elena’s problems and she suddenly enjoys sex her personality will change! Not! I actually hope Geraldo ends up with Antonia. She’s so much nicer and Geraldo deserves something good in his life.
Liz
I don't think Demencia is completely divorced from reality. I think she is trying to look good in Padre Reynaldo's eyes to avoid getting a bad review when he leaves. She may also want to look good in the eyes of others in the vicinity. That is likely to be a lost cause.
She is just a malignant narcissist with no real sense of right and wrong. That has led her into becoming a criminal.
