AMOR INVENCIBLE

Weirdo, I know we are all looking forward to your sure to be amazing recap.

I just wanted to make two brief comments.

It was hard to watch Leona literally shaking in her (cowboy) boots when Ramses darkened her door. The poor woman was quaking, barely able to control her movements and yet she is going to try to finish him off? I'm all for it but...

As much as I despise Ramses, it was so good to see him terrorize terrible Calixto!! Never leave the door open is a TN staple and I was so glad to see him staring furiously as Calixto manhandled Camilo...what a worm...

Diana

Invenicble

Good morning,Diana. I know saw bits and pieces of this episode because I was watching " The Voice." I will watch later. However, I did see that scene of Ramses silently lurking and observing Calixto manhandling Camilo....although he isnt much of man. yikes. Cantu can bring the terror . He certainly showed quivering worm who the alpha male in that house is.

I also caught the scene of Ramses popping in to "visit" Leona....second on his terror to do list. Does he realize who she really is ?

Then I popped in to see Kika crying to her dad Gael. Then, dinnertime for Leona and David and family. That daughter is a bigger brat than Kika. Does that actress always Play a brat ? Then ,a scene with Columba, Cal,and Gael in Gaels office .

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 7 - Lunes, 10 de Abril, 2023 - Parte 1/5

Jacinta tells Leona that her kids don't know about David's past. She goes to leave and Leona runs behind her. She falls but Benjamín, who just came, catches her. David also comes a few seconds later and holds her bridal style as Jacinta opens the door.

Calixto is being a butt to his wife (shocking, not). He tells her she's week and when he sees her sad, he says that she shouldn't cry, because he can't stand her tears. He decides to help her just to show her that she depends on him and then calls her mi amor. Judging by Camila's face, we have a candidate for Mujeres Asesinas 4, if they decide to make a fourth season. He kind of throws her on the bed and has a creepy look on his face. Ramsés, who was actually listening to and watching this, walks in a asks her if he should keep David. She says that with him she feels calm and he does more than Calixto. Ramsés tells Calixto he wants to see him.

David tells Leona that she thankfully didn't break her foot but she should still rest. They talk about her accident 16 years ago and how David helped. Then, Leona says that she wants to get closer to Kika and Ana Julia and that she's thinking how she'll figure out a way to find which one is hers. She says she hates Gael and Ramsés and that she has an idea. David asks her "what idea?" She thinks back to Ramsés killing her family and we see her as Leona mourning again. Now she mourns over her mom's body too. Present: she says she wants Ramsés to suffer.

Calixto tries to act like nothing happened with Ramsés, tells him something about the info on Leona. Ramsés headlocks him while smoking a cigarette and tells him that he shouldn't mistreat Camila. He makes him repeat "I'm not going to be an idiot again" 2 times. He leaves him.

Leona and David have a long conversation. A small sum up: David says that if they make him suffer, they'll become just like him and the they should let justice deal with him. Leona says that there are corrupt cops and judges and they have to take matters in their own hands. She says he stole everything from her, her family and her hope. We flashback to a nice family scene, the whole family is hugging. Back to the present, David calls Leona "Mar" and she tells him that she's not Mar anymore and begs him not to turn her in. Like there's any possibility this guy will let her go to jail.

Benjamín tells Jacinta that they should invite Leona to eat with them, she agrees. After that, Jacinta's husband behaves like a butt and one of Jacinta's daughters, the one with the young kid, tells her mom that she should break up with him.

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 7 - Lunes, 10 de Abril, 2023 - Parte 2/5

Leona and David have a sweet scene where he shows her the necklace and the photograph (from the first episode) that he still has. He tells her to analyze the consequences if she goes against the BlackTowers (yep, I'm keeping RGVChick's translation as the name. I love it!) and something else I didn't catch (I'm having trouble with his accent). They hug.

Benjamín and Jacinta's granddaughter enter and invite Leona to eat with them. She accepts.

Consuelo and her family are eating. Iztel is still whining about the haircut. They have a conversation about how we see other people on the internet and think that they're always happy, but everyone has moments when they feel sad, upset etc. They also say that everyone has worth, despite their hair, face blah blah blah. Consuelo is pouring some Coca-Cola in their glasses. Ugh, am I the only one that doesn't like its taste?

Leona thanks everyone for the invitation. The cute kid goes to Leona and tells her something about David and novios, I don't know if she said that she wants her and David to be novios or that David said they want to be novios. Based on their reactions, #1 makes more sense.

Anyway, they sit to eat. We learn that Jacinta's daughter works at the police and that she also deals with women who disappear (I can't wait for the moment she will arrest Ramsés). Leona says that she'll start work in a big company. Pains comes in and is mean to literally everyone for no reason, e.g. she told the police woman (what's her name, again?) that she was left in the altar because she's always wearing that uniform (she's wearing it now). Like, what? She's mean even to Leona, she says that they should bring prettier guests or something! Jacinta's husband comes, sees Leona and acts completely cringe. Leona is awkwardly smiling. The "help, I'm dying from cringe" awkward smile. I know that one pretty well.

Ana Julia brings a book to read to her "mother" (Camila). She says she wants to read a book about love so she can dream. AnaJu is a smart girl and instantly asks her "don't you love my dad?" Honestly, girl, WHO CAN? Camila says that with the years, love changes. They talk about when she was younger, about how Cami read books to her and AnaJu tells her that she is the best mom in the world.

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 7 - Lunes, 10 de Abril, 2023 - Parte 3/5

Kika and her dad have a small fight. Kika asks to stop being grounded, Gael says no, she's way too young to drink alcohol. She says all the kids her age drink and smoke (1. no and 2. even if they did, does that mean that she should do it too?) She asks him if he loves her. He says that he does. Kika tells him that she always felt he loved her differently than AnaJu and Óliver. Gael flashes back to telling Columba that she got pregnant so that he marries her. Present: He says he does love her. He leaves.

After Gael leaves, Kika tells her mom she wants them to talk. Columba says she wants to sleep. She adds that Gael asked her for a divorce, but she shouldn't worry, she won't give it. Kika cries.

The awkward dinner continues. Jacinta's husband, who's name is actually Jeremías, says that doña Leona and Jacinta have many things in common. After David says something about him living here for free (?) and Pains makes another comment about them being poor, Jeremías asks Leona if she has family and if she's in a relationship. Leona says that she has family, she's not in a relationship, but she has 2 kids who were stolen from her at birth and she's searching for them. Tbh, I'm not sure if that was the smartest thing to say. What if they accidentally say it to someone else and Ramsés or another BlackTower gets suspicious?

Jeremías continues being awkward and Jacinta leaves the table. David follows her and she tells him that Leona should be as far from them as possible. David hugs her.

Calixto is talking with someone on the phone. He's enraged. I guess he doesn't really have info on Leona, which is weird considering that he talked to Ramsés as if already has the info, because he asks the guy to find out everything about her.

David, after the dinner, tells Leona that if he doesn't tell her something, he's doing it because _____ (no, subtitles, I'm pretty sure he did NOT say anything about "alrededores" = neighborhoods). She gets a bit confused, asks him if it's about her plan with Ramsés, she can do it on her own. David says that nope, it's not that and she won't do it on her own. Leona tells him that she'll search all the orphanages near Puerto Palma. Maybe her son is there. David assures her that she'll find him. David, JUST TELL HER ALREADY!

Leona dreams of her being at the beach holding her two babies. She's talking to them. We get a close-up of her face. She looks down again and her kids are gone. She's screaming that she wants her kids and that they should stay with her. She wakes up.

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 7 - Lunes, 10 de Abril, 2023 - Parte 4/5

Leona is at her house. She's talking to the phone with a woman and tells her that she (Leona) sent the info to her. Yes, she sent her info regarding the two missing kids from Puerto Palma (her kids). She hangs up. Someone knocks on her door, she goes to answer and it's Ramsés. He gets in. Leona is visibly upset, but thankfully, Ramsés can't see her.

Gael tells Columba and Calixto that the consultant he hired, Manuel Ledesma, sued them for unjustified violence. Columba goes to call someone and Gael tells her not to make a scandal and to see his social media.

Leona is shaking like crazy. She goes to the kitchen and grabs a knife, but changes her mind and puts it down. She makes tea and gives him a cup. She asks Ramsés the reason he's here. He tells her he wants to get to know his employees and Leona says he didn't reply. He tells her that even though she works for Gael, he's the superior boss. Ramsés tells Leona to SIT. DUDE, it's HER house. He says that he'll give her a gold opportunity: is there something she wants to confess?

Jacinta is completely freaked out. She tells David that Jeremías wants to tell Benjamín that Leona is his mom.

Ramsés tells Leona that she's a smart girl: she can tell him why he's here. Leona says that she has integrity; she wants to improve herself (? couldn't find another translation of "superarme") with her work. As he's talking, Leona flashes back to the scene in episode 2, when Ramsés pointed his gun at her and told her "I had to kill them; now I'll continue with you". Ramsés lags a bit. He moves his hand to grab a cigarette and Leona gets more scared (oh well, his movement did seem like he was going to grab a gun). She tells him "just tell me what you know about me" (solo dígame lo que sabe [usted] de mí).

David throws water at Jeremías, grabs him and tells him that he can't tell the secret about Benjamín.

As Leona is still shaking, Ramsés tells her that he finds it weird that a woman of her level lives in that kind of house. He says he feels like she's hiding something.

The conversation continues a bit weird, she says she's not hiding anything, he says he finds it weird that she moved her whole family with her and asks about Puebla Palma. She says they went with her family for vacation there. He tells her something like "how much are you willing to sacrifice for me" or something creepy along the lines of that. She says she's willing to sacrifice everything. Ramsés says that he can see in her eyes that she wants to sacrifice the impossible(?) He adds that he wants her full loyalty and that he can't assure her that she'll see hell (I thought I misheard, but nope). He leaves. Leona looks like she'll have a heart attack.

El Amor Invencible - Capítulo 7 - Lunes, 10 de Abril, 2023 - Parte 5/5

Jeremías goes blackmailer mode: he says that he won't tell Leona anything if they stop telling him to get a job and pretty much if he sits down not doing anything. He gives them 24 hours.

Manuel, the consultant, paints his face and uploads a video of him saying that Gael hit him I think? He also mentions Columba and Óliver. Gael has a fight with Columba and calls his dad. Ramsés has already heard about the scandal and tells him that it's all his (Gael's) fault. Gael says that Columba will talk to the press so that he can show his face. Ramsés tells him to be careful, he's capable of making things worse. He hangs up.

Leona tells David that Ramsés came to her house. Leona is scared that maybe he knows who she is. David insists that they should go to the authorities, she insists that they shouldn't (tbh, I'm with Leona here.) Consuelo comes in and says that he owes David an explanation. Gael calls Leona. He wants her to come to the office right now.

Consuelo and David have a long conversation. Basically David says that he always loved Mar and that Consuelo shouldn't have lied to him that she died. This is said by the man who keeps not telling Mar that her son in living with him.

Gael tells Leona that the speech she wrote is perfect in structure, he'll only make slight changes. As she goes to leave, she sees Ramsés. She gives him a death stare. Gael tells his dad that he won't hide. Ramsés says that he finally has a man in front of him. Gael wasn't really expecting that.

Columba is being a complete bitch to Leona. She says that she should report to her, since she's her superior. She adds that she's the boss's wife and that she shouldn't try to cross dangerous borders. Leona tells her that SHE shouldn't try to cross dangerous borders and makes it clear that she won't accept this kind of behaviour. Columba throws the papers Leona was holding on the floor and leaves.

And with Leona's annoyed look, we have the Fin de Capítulo.

"AMOR INVENCIBLE"

Weirdo: Good job on the recap of last night's episode. Did Televisa say how many episodes this Telenovela is supposed to be having to run ?

INVENCIBLE

Thanks, Weirdo, for your very fine recap.

Best Scene: Ramsés telling Leona she would “see hell” if she did not give him her absolute loyalty not realizing that she has seen it already at his hands. The irony of it all!

2nd Best Scene: Leona not giving Columba her way.

Very enjoyable so far.

Invencible

Thanks, Weirdo. Great job.

I too loved Ramses sticking it to Calixto. Calixto must be good at his job, whatever it is, to still be standing.

The scenes between Ramses and Leona are so tense. I'm wondering if Ramses is attracted to Leona.

I smiled when Leona said she'd find out which, Ana Julia or Kika, is her daughter. Well, the fact that AnaJu looks like Leona might be a teensy clue.

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Weirdo, this was wonderful, witty and engrossing. Just marvelous. I was lost during most of the dialog and you filled in the blanks superbly.

David “holds her bridal style” had me smiling away as did “AnaJu is a smart girl and instantly asks her "don't you love my dad?" Honestly, girl, WHO CAN?” Excellent both.

“David insists that they should go to the authorities, she insists that they shouldn't (tbh, I'm with Leona here)” mirrored my own thoughts. Further, I understand David is in a difficult position with Consuelo but Leona deserves the truth. Is he going to allow her to go off on a wild goose chase to track down her son when the truth is right in front of her?

Ramses is the devil but Calixto is surely the dark lord, his facial expressions of evil and hatred are truly upsetting.

“Kika tells her mom she wants them to talk. Columba says she wants to sleep” was unbearably sad. It’s amazing that AnaJu was able to grow into the lovely, kind and sweet girl that she has. I have to give Gael begrudging credit.

“She'll see hell” ?? Ramses seemed to do a (unexpectedly) slipshod job of investigating Leona (giving it to Calixto was a huge mistake) or he would have known Leona has been to hell. And back.

Thank you so much Weirdo!

Diana

Sanity in the Midst of Madness: Dialogue as Needed Edition
Part 1 of 5

Elsa went into labor and the hospital was too far away. Estela and Flor helped Elsa get to her room as Demencia told Armando that there was a midwife not far away.

Antonia was clearly pained by her feelings for Gerardo, who told her she was his only friend, the only person whom he could tell everything. He told her he needed her in his life. She replied that she needed him as well, but in a different way. She withdrew her hand from his and left the table. When she was outside the restaurant she cried.

Silvia was completely fed up with Angela's insults and didn't hesitate to tell Lamberto. He told her that this is the last time she would have to deal with it because of their pending departure. He was going to dine with Gerardo that evening to tell him and still had to figure out when and how to tell Aurora who was not speaking to him.

Elsa was afraid and Estela helped her walk around, explaining she was also afraid her first time. Padre Reynaldo came in to check up on her and Elsa let out a cry of pain. Estela coached her in her breathing. Armando came in with the midwife who escorted Elsa to her bed and told the men to leave the room. After they left the midwife felt Elsa's abdomen and said that the baby is embedded and not ready to be born. The head was in the wrong position.

Angela went to Hector's new office and was told to wait bu the receptionist. She was obviously put out at this. Irene came out and told her that he could not receive her; he was dealing with a merchant group. Angela tried taking a jab at Irene's knowledge of San Juan but Irene let her know that she knew everything she needed to because she was Hector's personal assistant. Angela's reaction was “Don't tell me; so Hector is the reason you are not in Paris. I understand, I understand” “What are you saying?” “Only that now he is mayor you are looking to get him in bed.” “You are mistaken. Not all women are like you.” She then pretty much dismissed her and returned to her desk.

Silvia returned to the hotel, told Antonia about the nasty encounter with Angela, and what a relief it will be to get away from her. Antonia told her she will miss her and the house will feel empty without her. Silvia told her that won't be for long because she will find a good man to marry and have children with. This hit Antonia where it hurt most and they went outside to talk. Antonia feared repeating her mother's experience. She told her she was in love with Gerardo.

Irene told Hector she could not tolerate Angela. She was bad enough before the divorce but worse now. He agreed and she told him about Angela's accusation. That made him laugh and he implied this was expected in a pueblo chico, infierno grande.

Silvia was very understanding and advised Antonia to distance herself from Gerardo. Antonia tried explaining that this was difficult and said it wouldn't help. With the intensity of youthful emotions she said she would never find anyone else like Gerardo. Silvia recognized that and calmly told her that time would fix this issue. She hugged her and they agreed to talk more later.

Elsa's contractions were not close enough for birth yet. Estela and the midwife continued to coach Elsa while pressing lightly on her abdomen. Armando and the padre were outside. The padre was getting nervous and Armando told him from experience that first babies' deliveries are hard so he suggested they sit down. The padre said he would feel better if they were in a hospital but Armando told him that driving through the mud would have been difficult and possibly dangerous. “At least we have a midwife.” Elsa cried out and the padre looked back toward the door. Armando reminded him about the plan. The padre looked nervous. “Are you regretting this?” “I won't deny losing sleep over this,” he said. But this was the only way I could save that baby's life. That was the only reason. The one who should repent is you. Your daughter will suffer. Think of it means to lose her baby.” “She has to. I am doing what I must. I know what's best for her full stop.”

As soon as Gerardo walked into the door Elena was on the attack, as usual. Her newest accusation is that every time he has an “emergency” he spends less time with her Well, Bitch, what can you expect?] He asked whether she heard anything about Elsa. She said No and not to change the subject: “I was talking about us.” “There is nothing to talk about; this is a doctor's life. Did you not know that when you married me?” She accused him using this as an excuse to be out of the house. He was clearly fed up with this, eventually telling her he had enough of her rudeness. He went upstairs just as Lily entered the room. She asked Elena if she wanted anything from the market. When Elena didn't answer Lily offered her this advice: Jealousy is not a good counselor. Men will feel persecuted and distance themselves more. Elena said she was not going to shut up and Gerardo had to understand that she isn't nothing. Lily told her that this isn't working. She had to stop hounding him, let him do what he needs to and to always keep him happy. [We can be sure that Elena understood her meaning]. “You know how to do that. You understand me, no?” “Dear God, you sound so last century. Women today don't have to be submissive.” “You can do what you want but this works for me.” [Lily, you forgot something here.] She excused herself to continue her work. Elena looked both contemptuous and disturbed.

As the storm raged outside Elsa became more and more tired. The midwife took Estela aside and quietly explained to her that the cervix wasn't dilating properly. This was very serious for the baby if this didn't correct itself shortly.

Andres became increasingly frustrated and anxious for not being with Elsa during the birth. Oliver understood and tried to be optimistic. He asked Andres whether he would prefer a son or a daughter. He said “A daughter who would be as beautiful as Elsa.” Andres was then called to the visitors' room. Silvia was there to see him. She only knew that Estela went to help Elsa. She explained that she and Lamberto were going to be moving to the capital soon and he was happy for them. He told her not to worry about him.

Lamberto told Hector about his plans and that Silvia was coming with him. In the meantime the wheels of justice were turning slowly for Andres and he himself was discovering who his true friends were.

Rocio entered the living room as Angela was climbing the walls. “What are you doing here? “Young Gerardo asked me to return.” “Very well. Get working.” “I am here to work but not to u with your nonsense. I am here to serve you but not to be ill-treated.” “I'm not listening to this. I always treated you well.” [Get real, Madame LaLaurie.] “You're here to work. You know what I need? Two bottles of vodka and a bottle of ginger ale.” She fished around her purse. “Madame, young Gerardo told me my work.” Angela handed her the money and said “Go work and don't be late.” Rocio left the living room.

At that moment Gerardo was being dragged into the hotel lobby so that Elena could make a show of herself being affectionate toward him. Obviously for Antonia's (non)benefit. Hector came out to greet Gerardo and tell him “Your father is waiting in the restaurant.” Elena apologized to him for the scene of the other day. “Don't worry. Only don't repeat this.” Elena then had the gall to insincerely apologize to “Tonita,” who said as far as she was concerned it is forgotten. Neither Hector nor Gerardo bought this.

Flor was approaching Elsa's room when Armando asked whether there was any news. She looked worried as she replied that the baby has not been born. She was worried that the baby might die due to a lack of oxygen, “Don't tell me that. The baby has to be born healthy.” When Flor was out of hearing Armando said to Padre Reynaldo “Listen to what I told Flor. If the baby is born sick nobody will want it.” “How can you say such a thing? Have you no feeling for your daughter or your grandchild? Your daughter should be a mother. It's been twelve hours of labor.” “You have to have a cool head. Compassion is useless. It's nothing.”

Lamberto explained that the job he was offered was a great opportunity. Gerardo understood and said he couldn't pass it up. When Lamberto continued that Silvia was going with him Elena looked at hi and asked “Silvia?” with an expression of distaste. She caught herself then and changed her expression, congratulating him. “A love story at last set in stone.” [I don't think she fooled either of them.]. Lamberto said this was not a joke and Gerardo sincerely wished them well. They toasted. Elena did not join them and – fortunately – she kept her mouth shut.

Angela sat back down as Rocio came in later than expected. She explained that the usual store was closed and she had to go elsewhere. Angela pulled out and opened a bottle and said “Let's celebrate.” Rocio declined her offer of a drink and tried to take the bottles but Angela wouldn't allow her to. Angela poured herself some and drank it down neat.

Lamberto told Gerardo he had invited Aurora and Carlos to join them, then got up in search of a waiter. Carlos and Aurora arrived and Gerardo said that Hector would also be joining them. Aurora brought up a trip she and Carlos were taking and asked if they would like to join them. Elena said she loved the place and would enjoy that.

Lamberto found Hector and they exchanged pleasantries as Irene came out of the office. Lamberto invited her to join them but she pleaded fatigue and wished them bon appetit.

“If anything happens to my daughter, Andres will pay,” Armando said as he paced. This became an argument with Padre Reynaldo who held Armando responsible as Elsa was not in a hospital. Armando claimed that wasn't his fault [We flies on the wall think otherwise]. “If my daughter dies I will kill him.” “Stop looking for guilt. Better to pray to God that he gets out and gets ahead.” “He won't get out and not because of God.” “Faith is the only thing you have right now. You don't get anywhere being so stubborn.” “God does not listen to me.” “God always listens. Always trust in him.” He then began to pray.

[Why on earth did they wait this long to show us there is a shortwave radio somewhere on the property?] Nora got a ranch hand to call someone about the weather. The roads were out, it was also still raining buckets as the thunder and lightning continued. Nora sat down and flinched at the latest flash of lightning.

Aurora was so hostile to the idea of her father moving she excused herself from the table, saying she was going to the restroom. Elena smiled subtly at that. Gerardo changed the subject to tell Hector about a patient who was grateful for Hector's efforts in improving the water in their area. As Aurora went toward the restroom Horacio appeared. She looked ill at ease and told him not to get any closer. He apologized and said that when she didn't come to the airport he knew she was not interested in him. [So, dude, why are you there?] He said he would not interfere between her and his brother and he would stay away from his family. He then left her in the usual state of confusion he provoked in her.

Hector began talking about expanding healthcare in the community and asked Gerardo whether he would like to get involved and of course he said he would. Horacio went up to the bar, Carlos saw him, and went up to bro-hug. Hector was less than pleased at the sight. Horacio told Carlos he was back to stay, saying that the company he was going to work for decided to move to Monterrey and that did not please him. He came back to work at the hotel. Carlos was happy and when Aurora appeared she was a deer in the headlights at this sight and what she must have overheard.

Rocio saw Angela drinking and suggested she stop doing so and go to sleep, as it was very late. Angela asked “Why do you bother me? If you want to sleep leave.” “Young Gerardo told me –” “To hell with young Gerardo. Is he here to take care of me? No, really? Because I don't get it. Shoo. Get out. Leave. Goodbye.” Rocio left her alone.

Horacio shook Lamberto's hand and congratulated him. Hector took him aside and expressed his displeasure at Horacio ignoring his words regarding Aurora. Horacio said he would not cause problems but Hector looked at him with suspicion. Horacio promised he wouldn't pursue Aurora and said he came back after some reflection [How much? One night in a hotel where the owner knows Hector?] and wanted to be with his family. Hector told him he would trust him to keep his work but only once more. If he failed to keep his word Hector would demand he leave and never return.

Elsa cried out again and there seemed to be no progress. Demencia had the indiscretion to say that the baby is moving the wrong way and could break Elsa's ribs. She claimed this happened to her grandmother. Estela scolded her for this while the midwife helped Elsa stand up, saying that country women give birth in this position. Demencia went on about reaching inside to deliver calves and Estela scolded her again. The midwife told Elsa to spread her legs and push with all her strength. Elsa pushed and cried out. Blood appeared.

Andrews was awake in his cell writing a diary entry addressed to his child, saying how painful it was not to be there for the birth. “But this does not mean that you aren't the most important thing in my life. Someday I will be at your side and never will we be apart.”

The midwife told Elsa to push. She yelled in pain twice more and the baby came out and cried. A healthy baby girl. Estela led her back to the bed. The midwife wrapped the baby in a clean sheet and put her on Elsa's chest. Elsa looked at the baby and passed out. Flor took the baby and went into the living room, telling the men it's a girl. Estela came out of the room saying that Elsa was bleeding heavily and needed to be in hospital. Demencia went into the kitchen to get Manuel, who told her that the storm was still strong and the roads were muddy. His car couldn't handle it. She told him to use Armando's car. When she demanded Armando's car keys so manuel could take Elsa to the dispensario he said he would drive. Demencia said he couldn't because he didn't know the roads. He handed over his keys while Estela and Flor went to get Elsa. Demencia told Armando that Elsa suffered greatly during delivery. They left the baby with Demencia [who was the calmest we have ever seen her] and Padre Reynaldo commented on the baby being beautiful. Demencia told the baby she had the face of an angel. Armando then said “Stop showing affection to this baby. It's going to be adopted. Padre Reynaldo is going to find a proper family for it.” “But why are you doing this?” Demencia asked. “Because my daughter is not going to be a single mother.” “But, dear God, don't you understand that if anything fatal happens to Elsa there will be nobody in this baby's life?” “My decision is not a discussion,” Armando replied. “What are you going to tell Elsa and Estela? That you gave your granddaughter to strangers?” “No. We are going to tell them it was crib death. And if you don't support this I will not support you and you can live in misery. First thing in the morning do what we have to do to get rid of this brat.”

He left the room. Both Demencia and Padre Reynaldo were in shock. He finally said “May God forgive our sins.” Fortunately the baby fell asleep and did not hear any of this.

Perdona #34

Kudos to Oka Giner for surviving the most grueling childbirth scene I have ever seen during the three decades I've been watching these programs.

Demencia seemed human in this episode but I will only believe she is if she doesn't change back by the end of this week.

The padre obviously doesn't have a Plan B. I wonder what he will tell his confessor.

Elena will never be cured of her nasty nature any more than Angela will give up the booze. Poor Gerardo.

Perdona

Thanks, Urban. Excellent recap as always. I don't know how you capture the action and everyone's essence so well. Amazing job.

Last night's epi is so depressing. Does Armando want to control Elsa, or destroy her?

Padre Reynaldo is useless. Elsa and Estella trust him, but this is the best he can do to handle Armando? Pitiful. Even Demencia is shocked. I sure hope Estella and Irene don't get fooled. Honestly, if the padre goes through with this, he's worse than Aurora.

A double date that includes Elena and Aurora. Poor Gerardo.

"PERDONA" EPISODE #34:

UA: Awesome job on the recap of last night's episode. Your recaps while long, are superb & excellent. They should make you one of the executive producers of this Telenovela.

Niecie: I do NOT feel sorry for Gerardo: he made his bed with that Psycho Nutjob Elena. He needs to LIE IN IT & deal with the consequences.

Invencible

Weirdo, thank you for a great account of every scene .

I have seen Cantu play a villain in quite a few telenovelas, but he is really bringing the darkness with this character.

Hmmmm...now I am wondering if Kika is Gael's daughter or someone else's since we have learned that Columba used pregnancy to get Gael to marry her . Maybe she is smarmy Calisto's daughter. Interesting that Kika feels that Gael treats her differently from AJ and Oliver. Perhaps Gael doesn't feel the call of the sangre.

I enjoyed David roughing up lazy bones Jer. How lazy do you have to be to ask to be left alone to not work or do anything as a blackmail demand? Waste of oxygen here.

The family dinner reminded me of my family. My mother used to make Sunday dinner every week for my sister's family and my family after we married . Lots of good memories . Luckiky, we didn't have Jer or Pain at the big table .

Invencible

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

Jarifa, thanks for explaining the "see hell" scene.

Niecie, I agree about Calixto. I enjoyed Ramsés's headlock.

" I was lost during most of the dialog and you filled in the blanks superbly." Diana, trust me, I was also lost lol.

"Further, I understand David is in a difficult position with Consuelo but Leona deserves the truth." ITA

Tomorrow is my electronic-free day, so I will be completely inactive.

Steve, I think they said 70 episodes.

Susanlynn, I just saw your comment.

"now I am wondering if Kika is Gael's daughter or someone else's" hmm, that's a very interesting thought! Quite possible!

"How lazy do you have to be to ask to be left alone to not work or do anything as a blackmail demand? Waste of oxygen here." had me laughing out loud.

PERDONA

Thanks, Urban. Yikes! What an epsiode!
PERDONA

Thanks, Urban, for your excellent recap of a horrible episode.

Things I never wanted to have to hear again:

Armando acknowledging that Elsa was in pain and opining that women were born to give birth. They see the new baby and forget all about the pain. SURE!

Clemenica suggesting using livestock skills on Elsa to reach in there and turn that baby around so that it fits. OKAY!

Looks like Padre Reynaldo is going to wimp out.

Horacio has proven yet again that he is so obnoxious and stupid to boot.

PERDONA

Urban, another amazing, riveting recap.

I hate to keep harping on the disappointing padre but “this was the only way I could save that baby's life” wasn’t true. Many years of Catholic school education taught me that a little white lie (placating Armando) is far preferable than a mortal sin, aiding and abetting a psychopathic father to take his daughter’s child and telling her it has died. Any hope I had for him is fading fast.

Demencia actually appeared to be (gulp) human for a bit.

So are Silvia and Lamberto really leaving??

“Gerardo was being dragged into the hotel lobby so that Elena could make a show of herself being affectionate toward him. Obviously for Antonia's (non)benefit”. Exactly Urban. I don’t blame Antonia for distancing herself even though Gerardo does need her and her friendship. And what does he get? “A double date that includes Elena and Aurora. Poor Gerardo” made me smile Niecie. SO undeserving.

“Horacio has proven yet again that he is so obnoxious and stupid to boot” nailed it Jarifa. There are so many things and people I care about here but neither he nor Aurora are two of them.

I fear all hope will lost for Elsa and the baby that will be so callously taken from her. If only hero Hector were nearby.

Thank you so much Urban!

Diana

Perdona #34

Yeah. Good for Estela that she told Demencia off. Human females can't be treated like cows.

As I said before, Padre Reynaldo didn't come up with a Plan B. He should also have anticipated problems when Armando made the horrible decision to exile Elsa to this place. He should have known that the nearest hospital is too far away and probably should have thought about the possibility of bad weather in this situation. Does any part of Mexico have a "rainy season" like other places do?

The baby should also have been taken to the dispensario.

I came to the conclusion a while back that Gerardo and Elena are the textbook example of how you can't know anyone until you live with them. Was this an arranged marriage? Did he ever try to persuade her into amorous activities in the past? A hot guy such as he usually has no difficulty in achieving this.

Horacio is creeping me out.

...it was a dark and stormy night ......Does anyone remember Caray's Dr. Carlos Telling us about making Dark and Stormy cocktails?

Urban, thank you for another amazing recap of all the woes and troubles .

Angela didn't fall off the wagon....she gleefully jumped . She has absolutely no love or concern for her son or anyone else.

I haven't watched this episode yet . I think when I do , I will fast forward through the birthing scenes .

I waa surprised Elena stood there and listened to Lily's advice. Elena doesn't have Mich patience with advice from people , especially servants . She is such an elitist snob.

Horacio and Aurora.....don't care.

Angela didn't fall off the wagon....she gleefully jumped . She has absolutely no love or concern for her son or anyone else.

Angela only loves two things: booze and her non-existent image. Her blood is no bluer than anyone else's.

It's strange to watch that scene with Ramses and Calixto when you know Ramses is the one who most probably arranged this marriage. Ramses should do a better job of keeping an eye on his daughter because I doubt he knows even half the things her husband says to her. He doesn't care about her enough to get rid of Calixto. What a disgusting man. His attitude with Gael seems to be different somehow. How is that incident Gael's fault exactly? I wonder what would have happened if Leona had decided to pour poison into Ramses teacup. Did he drink that tea?
It's funny to watch thes supposedly well-educated women from 'good' families acting like three year old girls. Columba didn't have the best education if she is so openly petulant and shows her rival all her cards. And she is the one that is 'a good match' for Gael? Such low standards...

Invencible

Wow...that scene of Calumba in that long ,brown leather dress and spike heels trying to put Leona in her place as she dropped the papers on the floor one at a time was interesting.

AMOR INVENCIBLE

A few thoughts to start discussion.

I saw a series of snippets with glimpses of hidden thoughts and dueling emotions but without much actually happening (besides the tween fight which honestly I could have done without).

I did get a lump in my throat when Gael was remembering Mar, he looked so wistful. And remorseful.

The scene with Leona walking down the hall toward both David and Gael, both of them completely entranced was poignant and very well done.

So Leona does have a plan! A very intricate and technical one...hmmm, the electrified mike. What could possibly go wrong???

Diana

Invencible

Good morning, Diana. Sunny here and going into the 70s

Yes, those memories of being young and in love with Mar that Gael had made me feel that in his heart, He knows Leona is Mar. Young love leaves a forever impression.

The teen fight ( Thanks, Kika) was a means of getting Gael and Ben together. Was there a call of the sangre when they shook hands ?

I definitely get the feeling that Kika is not Gael's daughter. She is pure Calumba and somebody .

David is sweet , but Cami is falling in love with him... which is understandable .

I don't like the rigged microphone .

Thanks, Urban, great recaps. I watched two episodes last night. The good thing about getting behind is you can binge watch.

I am still hoping Padre comes through. My hope is he finds a family to keep the baby temporarily. But I’m beginning to doubt that. Demencia’s niceness might last as even she seems to think that Armando is being really cruel to his daughter. And yes, if he hadn’t banished Elsa she would have been in the hospital, probably having a C-section.

So Elena takes joy in everybody’s troubles. She seemed quite pleased that Aurora was not happy with her father’s decision. I thought they were friends, but could be wrong I hope Gerardo dumps her but I’m afraid he’s going to stick out this marriage from hell.

I can’t believe Angela doesn’t know she’s an alcoholic, but I guess they’re the last to realize it. And Armando is willing to destroy his wife for her. So glad Lamberto got out of that marriage. I hope all goes smoothly for Sylvia and him.

Liz

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Hi Susanlynn! Glad you are enjoying some sunny weather, the sun is trying to come out here so I am hopeful...

Yes, "Gael had made me feel that in his heart, he knows Leona is Mar"! Sometimes the heart sees what the mind cannot.

Good question. I don't think that there was an immediate call of the blood when they met but Gael was nice to the parents and children and diffused the situation as best he could. My heart goes out to him as it does Camila. I can't imagine two more disparate pepole than Calixto and David!

Diana

INVENCIBLE

Diana and Susanlynn, It was sad seeing Gael thinking back on Marena but then trying to discount his feeling that Leona could be her. It was also sad seing Camila starting to crush on David.

A few facts from the episode:

Josefa was looking at an old love letter from an “Apolo”.

Gael threatened Columba with divorce if she didn’t show Leona some respect.
Camila became disabled after a horseback riding “accident.” She doesn’t think it was an accident.

Ramsés does not want Camila working at the company. She is to stay home and be a mother like she always wanted. Heck, he set it all up for her with the baby he got her.

Manuel goes looking for compensation for Ramsés having had him beat up and all he gets is a mouth full of pesos and more threats. Ramsés discovers he has red makeup on his face to make his bruises look worse.

Calixto told Ramsés he got a line on some “fresh” merchandise.

Jeremías continues with his blatant freeloading and threats to tell the truth about Benja.

Leona cannot find any records of her children so she decides she will have to make a trip back to Puerto Palma. Her whole adopted family will go with her.

The microphone episode could turn out to be quite “shocking”. Sorry, I could not resist.

Invencible

Thanks , Jarifa. Is Gael definitely getting a divorce , or is he just threatening Calumba with it ? She seems determined to hold on to him one way or the other.

Diana, I, too, liked the scene of both David and Gael walking toward Leona. In a press conference introducing this show, Angelique sat between the two actors who are both about a foot taller than she is. Angelique also looks very petite in the scenes with intimidating Calumba.

I can see Gael's mind working as he looks at Leona and remembers his times at the beach with Mar. However, he doesn't seem to recognize David as Adrian. It seems that after all these years, Gael still remembers Mar as the love of his life. How soon will the light dawn ?

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Thank you for these very important points Jarifa!!

"The microphone episode could turn out to be quite “shocking”. Sorry, I could not resist" made me laugh out loud. Just great.

I did enjoy Ramses sticking the bills in Manuel's mouth. I have a feeling he still doesn't get that not so gentle hint!

I didn't understand Leona will be going to search for records of her children. Thank you.

Josefa certainly looked sad looking at that well worn love letter. I have a feeling she knows full well what Ramses does for a "living".

Camila looked so pretty in her dress. I think Calixto insulted her just to twist the knife in a but further.

Diana

Invencible

Diana, I thought Ramses was going to do more than stuff paper bills in smarmy Kanye's mouth. I thought he was going to tell his minions to make him disappear. Evidently money hungry Manuel has no idea what Ramses main business is.

Yes, Josefa touched that old letter so lovingly. I wonder how she ended up marrying Ram?

Kanye? ..whoops....autocorrect changed Manuel behind my back .

INVENCIBLE

Looks like this one will truly test these actors’ talent. Both David and Gael are decent human beings caught along with Leona in Ramsés’ wen. I loved when Leona got that smug smirk on her face when dealing with Columba.

Part 1 of 5

Lamberto tried talking to Aurora. When he told her about his new job her reaction of “Good; I'm happy for you” was sarcastic. She reacted just as badly as Angela did upon hearing about Silvia. “You're going with the servant?” with more trash-talk about what she and Angela regard as “lesser” people. Lamberto tried saying that the world isn't like this and where does she think her hatred and prejudice will get her. Predictably this ended with her telling him to forget her. She then walked away saying “This is the last time we will speak.”

Manuel drove Armando's car to get Elsa to the dispensario. Estela and Flor accompanied her. Estela could not feel her unconscious daughter's pulse. They were five minutes away from their destination.

As she fed baby Eva, Demencia told Padre Reynaldo that he committed a grave sin. He said that was the only way to save the baby's life. He explained that Armando tried to force Elsa to have an abortion. Demencia said that “Armando is like that. He gets rid of anything that gets in his way.” “That's why he obligated me to find an adoptive family. What a huge deception this will be for Elsa.” “Either way, Padre, that's life.” “I only hope that God in all his power understands that evil at least gives choices.”

Manuel carried Elsa inside the dispensario. A nurse led the way to the emergency room.

The Morales dinner party ended. Antonia looked sad as she saw Gerardo.

Flor and the midwife talked about Elsa's condition; Elsa had suffered a uterine eruption so there is more surgery required because of the hemorrhage. They had to call a veterinarian to help with the anaesthesia. [Did I hear that correctly? WTF...] Flor got upset and the midwife went back to see if she could help. The doctor said Elsa's condition was the same and he needed to administer antibiotics. The vet arrived and the doctor told Estela to wait outside. The storm continued.

Lamberto went to Silvia's house. She told him that she loved him and she felt safe with him. However, now was not the time for her to accompany him to Mexico City. Andres' fate could change within the next fifteen days and Antonia needed her right. Lamberto pointed out that Antonia was an adult but Silvia didn't want to leaver her alone right now. He needed her, too and wanted to spend the rest of his life making her happy. Lamberto finally agreed to wait.

The doctor told Estela that he did the appropriate suturing and the hemorrhage had stopped. However, Elsa needed blood transfusions. She is O Positive [At least we don't have to deal with the stock plot point of “rare blood type”] and both Estela and Flor were matches. The doctor questioned them about various diseases, established that neither of them were affected or recently donated blood, and sent a nurse to prepare for this.

The anaesthesia had been administered. The midwife stood next to Elsa and spoke encouragingly to her. The doctor returned to prepare Elsa for the transfusions.

As Armando glowered alone in Demencia's living room the storm knocked out the electricity at Dementia's ranch.

Part 2 of 5

The storm ended in the morning. Manuel returned to Dementia's house, told Armando what happened and got back into the car to drive Armando to the dispensario. Demencia came out of the house and Armando told her that Elsa was in bad condition. She started to say that Elsa does not deserve what he was planning but he interrupted her and said to say no more. He got into the shotgun seat and Manuel began driving.

Hector and Aurora talked about the situation. She told him she had not seen Horacio until he turned up at the hotel the night before. She said that her priority was to have a good marriage with Carlos. She swore it but he was not convinced. He suggested that while their house was being built she and Carlos should live elsewhere. The intention behind this was to prevent her from encountering Horacio. He suggested they live with Angela. Aurora knew that would not please Carlos, but Hector told her to find a way to convince him. “I don't want you near Horacio.”

Silvia told Antonia she was delaying her departure. Antonia told her she didn't have to delay her happiness and that she could look after Andres.

The surgery was over. Elsa dreamed about her baby and Andres together bathed in sunlight. She woke up to see her mother who told her that the baby was at Demencia's house. She then told her to rest because she was weak from blood loss. The doctor came in to tell them that the ambulance would be there shortly to take Elsa to the nearest hospital. When Estela told him Elsa had awakened for a moment then fell asleep again he said that was good because she needed to recover her strength.

Armando arrived at the dispensario and Estela told him what happened. The doctor had told Estela that Elsa was stable and the ambulance was on the way. She asked Armando about the baby and he said the baby was alright; Demencia was taking care of her. Estela said they should have brought the baby with Elsa to give her more emotional strength but Armando changed the subject without looking her in the eye as he walked away.

Demencia drove the padre in Manuel's car to meet the adoptive parents. As they drove the padre prayed for the baby, saying he hoped for the adoptive parents to raise her and treat her well. [Why isn't the baby in an appropriate car seat and in the back of the car? Did the writers forget that this isn't the 1950s?] He continued by saying that he hoped the adoptive parents would love her as their own until the day when the truth would be known, saying that her birth mother loves her and always will. He looked like he was crying.

Silvia told Antonia Lamberto was coming for dinner and she had also invited Gerardo, who was likely to bring Elena. Antonia asked why and Silvia told her that when Lamberto mentioned him she could not say no. She could cancel but Antonia said not to. She was still going to be living there and would be encountering them whether she wanted to or not.

Part 3 of 5

Carlos and Meche talked about her new crush and Hector heard some of this as he entered the room. Meche semi-scolded Carlos over his comment and told Hector that she is concentrating on her studies. He thought that was all well and good but considered it normal for her to find someone attractive. He suggested that Meche invite him to San Juan [For the fatherly inspection, no doubt.]. He asked about Aurora. Carlos said she went to see her mother while Meche said she saw her at the hotel. Hector looked displeased.

Padre Reynaldo met with the nun who helped find the couple. He introduced Demencia, who was polite to the Mother Superior. He then told her that the baby girl had been born the night before. The Mother Superior exclaimed that the baby was precious and that the couple had arrived two days before and was staying in a nearby hotel. She left to call them and Padre Reynaldo said God won't forgive Armando for doing this to his own flesh and blood. Demencia said that this had never bothered “Armandito.”

Nora drove back in a pickup and a servant told her what happened during the night. They lost some recent plantings too the storm and a young man who worked there seemed to have disappeared. Nora asked about Elsa and the servant told her about the difficult birth. Nora got back into the pickup and drove off.

The Mother Superior explained that the storm damaged part of the convent, including some of the sleeping quarters. Señor and Señora Sotomayor (Jaime and Veronica) arrived to claim the baby. Demencia handed the infant over and told them they were very fortunate. Jaime tanked the padre for making their dreams come true. Padre Reynaldo told them there was no need to thank him. He was confident that they would be excellent parents. He told them that the baby's name was Eva and asked that they not change it. Veronica agreed, saying this is a beautiful name. Jaime agreed and said to Padre Reynaldo to count on them for anything. The padre looked very disturbed at this. and Demencia took their leave.

Aurora visited her mother to check on her because of what Gerardo told her. Angela told her that Gerardo was exaggerating like all doctors do. A little more bullshit later Aurora asked whether she and Carlos could stay at her place for a while. Angela was surprised, but said that would make her the happiest woman in the world. Aurora told her she would talk to Carlos. Angela asked her about Horacio, whether she knew he came back and saw him. “Of course, or you wouldn't have asked to live in my house.” Aurora then asked “Mother, why can't you believe I'm worried about you?” She said that Horacio's presence had nothing to do with her decision. When Angela mentioned the word “temptation” Aurora yelled at her “Mother, for once in your life stop looking for the bad. I'm thinking about you, nobody else.”

Elsa was put in the ambulance; Estela got in to ride with her.

Armando thanked the dispensario's doctor for saving Elsa's life. The doctor thanked the midwife and Flor for their help. Armando tried to give him money which he declined, saying that the facility was state-funded and they got what they needed. He then excused himself to get back to work, wishing Elsa to get well soon so she could enjoy her baby. Armando – again – said his fairwells without facing the doctor [We flies on the wall are wondering whether Flor or the midwife noticed as they left with him].

At the hotel office Horacio was working on his laptop as Carlos entered. He told him he was working on some new ideas for improving the hotel. Carlos liked these, especially the ones involving art that could make the hotel a tourist attraction.

Padre Reynaldo could not stop thinking about the pain this would cause Elsa. Demencia told him to stop lamenting about this since his motive was to save the baby's life. He said he was imagining the pain Elsa will feel when her own father tells her that the baby died. “You only did what you had to.” “But that is no consolation.” Demencia said “What is done is done. That's life, and we can't do anything about it.” The padre then prayed for forgiveness.

Nora arrived at the dispensario and found out what happened. She bolted out the door.

The doctor in the hospital told Estela that Elsa needed more attention and more blood. What Estela and Flor donated wasn't enough so they called the blood bank. Flor said she was going to look for the chapel and Estela said she would go with her.

While playing basketball with the rest of the cell block Andres flashed back to the day Elsa told him she was pregnant. He slammed the basketball down in frustration. Oliver advised him to calm down or things could get worse for him in view of his sentence.

Gerardo could not persuade Elena to accompany him to Silvia's house for a dinner invitation. Furthermore, she said that he should not go either because it would insult his mother. [That's rich.] “If you don't know how things are between my parents, don't judge it,” he said. “It would be better for you to be on sidelines.” “No, I can't. It's lowering himself for my father to be with Silvia.” One could hear the sneer in her voice. “He is leaving your mother for her.” “My parents' relationship has been bad for a long time. Silvia has nothing to do with that so I'm telling you not to judge that.” “I won't get involved in things of no importance. This is a disgrace and I don't want to be an accomplice. I won't go to eat and pretend to enjoy myself just because they're going to Mexico. Don't count on me. What a shame.” “But I am going.” “No. No, Gerardo. You can't go and sit at the table of a woman that destroyed your family.” “That's isn't how it was. You have these ideas in your head it's hard to get them out.” “These are not ideas. I am right.” At this Gerardo had enough and got up to leave. “I see you're going. And aren't you going because you have other motives?” “I don't know what you're saying. “Don't be insane. It's a very good opportunity to see Antonia, isn't it?” “Enough! Don't think I want to argue with you. If you don't want to go, okay; I'll go alone.” She said “Don't you dare.” but he was already out the door.

Estela told Armando she was tired and wanted some sleep. He agreed and she walked away and spoke with the midwife who was also tired, saying she was not needed there. Armando said to her he would take her to the airport so she could get home. They left. Nora arrived and Estela told her what had happened. Nora explained why she was not home when they arrived and she had jut found out about Elsa's difficult delivery. When Estela told Nora that Demencia was caring for the baby Nora laughed and said “You don't say. Maybe that will change her personality.” Armando came back in and faked niceness with Nora before going to see the doctor. Nora went back to talking with Estela.

Lamberto got to Silvia's house and she told him she would be going with him after all. Gerardo gave her some flowers for Silvia. When Lamberto asked why Elena didn't come Gerardo said “She has a headache.” [How original...not]. Silvia offered them drinks and got Antonia to come with her to the kitchen. Antonia privately told her mother she was glad that Elena didn't come with Gerardo to start trouble and Silvia was sure that the headache was just an alibi.

Armando played along with the women as they talked about photos, caring for the baby, etc., while waited to see Elsa (who was unconscious). The doctor came out to tell them that they could visit one at a time. Estela told Nora to go first since she hadn't seen Elsa before the birth. She thanked her, saying that Elsa was like a sister to her. Nora got in to see her. She sat next to her and talked about what a good person she was and how much she loved her. And all sorts of things that we know won't happen.

Aurora and Carlos talked about living with Angela. She told hi that her mother was all bent out of shape because her father is leaving town. She was afraid that her mother would drink more if left alone. She then proposed that they move in with her only until their house was finished. He was not in favor of this because of Angela's attitude toward him but she convinced him that this to help her. “If it makes you more calm about it, I will. I can't refuse you anything.” They hugged but the look on Aurora's face indicated she was anything but calm.

Armando got back to the ranch and asked whether all was well. Without looking him in the eye Padre Reynaldo told him that Eva was with her adoptive parents. Armando told him to never mention that name again. The padre asked about Elsa and Armando said she was better. Armando then said they needed to fake a funeral when Elsa returned. The padre looked as though he aged ten years. Demencia looked at Armando as though he were demented.

All the comments are painting a clear picture for me. Gracias, everybody.

I smiled when Gael told Leona she looked great, in the black suit. She's looked great since she showed up, period. What's special about today?

I'd been thinking that the triangle would be lopsided since Gael was on Team Evil. But he's really not a bad guy. His trying to resolve the teen brawl with all the teens put him in a new light with me.

But Gael, your daughter Kika is The Problem. All the other teens are just fine.

Death by microphone electrocution? Really, Leona?

I'm guessing Calixto is the culprit who tampered with Camila's horse.

Susanlynn, maybe autocorrect knows something we don't changing "Manuel" to "Kanye"! ;>

AMOR INVENCIBLE

"Kanye"?? thanks for the laugh Susanlynn.

Niecie, yes, Angelique looked killer (sort of appropriate, right??) in that black suit. Yes, she looks good every day but I thought her updo hairdo made her appear especially elegant.

Jarifa, physically Columba towers over Leona. But Leona didn't seem the slightest bit intimidated did she? Yup, the smirk was great.

Perdona #35

I guess that small-town life and attitudes don't change or don't change much.

This scenario of sending a pregnant girl to distant relatives before the pregnancy shows and putting the baby up for adoption was a major thing prior to Roe vs. Wade and better contraception was the rule for non-wealthy people in the 1950s so I question why this story isn't garbed in poodle skirts, leather jackets, ponytails, and ducktails on the younger characters. Perhaps somebody thought that a novela de epoca would not attract younger viewers.

Other stuff about this is timeless.

--- Nora needs to get away from her mother and that life.
--- Gerardo needs to divorce both Elena and his mother.
--- Andres needs to get out of prison.
--- At least half the characters need shrinks.

PERDONA

Urban, you did an outstanding job relating the events of a tense episode where everything was tipping toward the precipice of disaster. Again, your dialogue translations are marvelous and a tremendous help in being able to follow every (mostly) despicable lie.

“Demencia looked at Armando as though he were demented”. Indeed!

If any episode exemplified what “waiting for the other shoe to drop” this was it. “Elsa dreamed about her baby and Andres together bathed in sunlight” was lovely and the one bright (imagined) light in a dark and dismal night.

“He told them that the baby's name was Eva and asked that they not change it” was perhaps the padre’s too little, too late feeble effort to ensure that once Elsa started searching for her daughter, she would have the right name. It was nice to see Miguel Biaggio as Jaime, a small role for a very talented actor.

“…I question why this story isn't garbed in poodle skirts, leather jackets, ponytails, and ducktails on the younger characters” is right Jarifa. So much here is stretching the imagination…

“She has a headache.” Elena’s rants are so tiresome, I can only imagine how Gerardo feels.

So Aurora and Carlos are moving to Angela’s. Can’t they rent somewhere til the house is ready? Ack.

Tonight will be tough..

Fabulous Urban!

Perdona

Thanks, Urban. You wrote a sterling recap of another gut-wrenching episode.

So many people in this TN have earned a prison cell:

- Armando (murder of P.I., kidnapping and fraud giving away a baby that's not his)
- Angela (perjury against Andres; I'd let her off the hook killing the commisario)
- Aurora (perjury)
- Padre Reynaldo (kidnapping and fraud giving away a baby that he's not authorized to give away; betraying his vow of decency)
- Clemencia (accessory to kidnapping, physical abuse of husban)
- Gerardo (accessory to his momma killing the commisario, a crying shame)

My favorite scene: Hector kicking out Aurora. The little twit has the nerve to tell Hector that she doesn't like his "tone". He responds, "I don't like you sleeping with both my sons in the same bed." That shut her right up and retreating to live with Angela.

Wondering who will be the first to start unraveling Armando and the Padre's lie about the baby. I sure hope it's before the baby starts saying "momma" and "daddy" to her new parents.

PERDONA

Thanks, Urban for another outstanding recap.

Yes, you heard correctly!! A veterinarian was called upon to provide anesthesia. Ah, pastoral life and all of its ramifications! Sort of adds to Demencia’s “helpful” comments on “birthing livestock” from the previous episode.

Yes, this should have been done as a “novela de epoca” or rewritten or if that wasn’t possible . . . I think you know where I am headed. It is hard for me to take it seriously in its present state.

Anyway, sadly for Aurora, Angela wasn’t too drunk to know the real motive for her moving back home.

Yes, Elena and her perpetual headache!

Niecie, loved your crime list.

Yes, Diana, “Tonight will be tough.” but I can’t wait!!!

Perdona #35

Killing the corrupt Fuentes might have merit but it shouldn't get forgiveness for stealing Andres' life and reputation with perjury. I don't think he will do the whole 8 years but his rep is garbage in his home town and may still require recovery time once he is proven innocent. Andres should sue her for that.

Aurora needs to be punished for that perjury. Boinking two brothers is not a criminal offense but it should or will carry the punishment of losing Carlos when he finds out. As it is Hector will never trust her again after that.

I hope Elena does something to get arrested for so she will have to spend time among women she thinks are trash. Her classism gets sicker and more vile every time we see her.

The padre knows the first names of Eva's adoptive parents so finding them should be fairly easy. The only impediment to this would be if they change their names, leave the country, or never properly register the baby as theirs. What should have happened was for Elsa to get a very aggressive lawyer to fight Armando against the possibility of him locking her up.

What does he plan for her now? I think it will start with gaslighting.

Perdona

Urban, thank you for your excellent detailed coverage of an awful episode .

It makes absolutely no sense that padre would help Armando give Elsa's baby away. Losing a baby is a devastating , life altering experience. How can Armando possibly put his own flesh and blood through this torment.

It's bad when even crazy Dementia can't believe what Armando and padre!!!! Are doing .

Regarding country living , my date ( who became my hub) and I went to our friend's diary farm to pick her and her boyfriend up for a double date. However, her parents were out , and her date told hub that they would have to deliver a calf. They did. I think they were 18 . We missed the movie, but I am sure the cow was grateful for the help. Moo.They told us that they were now all ready when the time came for us to have babies. Thanks but no thanks.

Susanlynn, you're "anon" above, right? Your story is so precious. Thanks for making me laugh.

Niecie ...yes, whoops. That was me! I should have signed it " Cowgirl" I grew up in an area with lots of diary farms.

Perdona #35

Susanlynn,
Armando is a self-made man in a community that regards such people as suspect. This is not unlike being another kind of outsider, like someone who wasn't born to a family that lived there for at least three generations. Small towns are like that.

They also tend to be far more conservative than even mid-sized cities.

People who climb above wherever others think they deserve to be can therefore be very defensive and do whatever they think they have to to remain where they are now. Since Armando perceives that an errant child would bring him down socially he is doing this horrible thing to Elsa.

There is an excellent book out there by Ann Fessler called The Girls Who Went Away about pregnant teens prior to Roe vs. Wade. Some of these stories are seriously shocking.

As for Padre Reynaldo he may have had a plan that went awry because Armando insisted upon going to Demencia's. That would mean that he didn't trust the padre. It seems the only person he comes close to trusting is Elena.

One result of this situation is a very likely crisis of faith for the padre who must know that if Elsa had been left to have the baby in the San Juan hospital the complications might not have happened at all and adopting out the baby would have been much more difficult because of that dreaded word Scandal. That could also have inspired Armando to accuse Andres of raping Elsa which would compound the false accusations made by Angela and Aurora. This might also have driven Armando to lock Elsa up in Leonidas' loony bin.

Does anyone, besides me, remember Gabriel Platas (Camila) from “Mi marido tiene famiia” where she played Polita who always had her “Tuppers” to fill up with left-overs?

Invencible

No, but I remember Isabella Tena (Julia) from Mo Corazon es Tuyo as Luz. She is the younger sister of Ana Tena.

Jarifa, yes, I remember the character! I liked her, wasn't she married to Rene Casados on the show? Yes, those "tuppers" made me smile! I knew I'd seen her but couldn't place where.

Thanks for noting that.

Thanks for the highlights, Jarifa!

I also don't think Kika is Gael's daughter. I have Columba capable of doing something like that.

Leona's murder plan is just not going to work. She should have thought this through. And if it fails, people will start to get suspicious...

I'm also guessing that Calixto was the one who caused the accident.

David should just tell Leona the truth already. She'll be enraged when she finds out and she'll be right.

Urban, no, I do not remember her from that series.

Diana, yes, she was married to lazy “Audifaz” (Rene Casados) who made them mooch of his brother’s family to survive. Loved that novela; another Juan Osorio production like this is.

AMOR INVENCIBLE #9

The best laid plans…A few highlights

Oliver would not attend his grandfather’s party unless Leona accompanied him. Gael asked her to do so. You can tell he thinks the world of her. Both father and son. 😊

Leona’s plan to “electrify” Ramses fails miserably. To her and David’s horror, Ana Ju approached the mic but thankfully backed away. Leona created a diversion so his adoring family could present Ramses with a watch. Probably something he did not want or need but was gracious in acceptance.

A security guard was the mic’s victim and contorted wildly when he grabbed it. I believe they said there was a pulse.

Idiot Manuel barged into the party which Ramses blamed Leona for. But to be fair, guest security wasn’t part of the package.

Ramses ended up firing Leona, much to Gael’s dismay. When Leona told Columba she would have no further competition, Columba looked her up and down as if to say what competition. But overall, Leona has had the upper hand as she has no fear of Columba and has rather delighted in torturing her.

Jacinta wants a divorce, can’t blame her there.

Consuelo finds a lump in her breast but does not tell her supportive, loving husband.

Benjamin puts Itzel in the friend zone. She is crushed.

Ramses pushes Manuel out of a high warehouse window and he falls to his death.

In the final scene, Gael shows up at Leona’s, just as she and David enter the building with their swimming gear. A long ago scene of the three of them flashes in Gael’s mind as he asks them if they already know each other! Deer in the headlights.

Diana

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Jarifa, Audifaz, yes! What a wonderful TN that was. I smile whenever I think of it...

Diana, thank you so much for the highlights and clearing some things up for me. I can only takes, clues from the visuals.

As we have observed,Ram has no problem doing his own killing . I wasn't surprised Manuel was a goner.

Leona was very foolish thinking that only Ram would touch the hot mic. That was a stupid idea unworthy of Mar\Leona. I saw David shake his head " yes" when he was taking that poor innocent guy's pulse, so I guess he was alive. Shame on you, Leona, for putting so many people in danger.

Gael continues to stare at Leona with those puppy dog eyes. I am having trouble seeing Daniel as a dad to teen Wolf Kika. Kika is very annoying to watch with her head bowed and her messy layered hair falling in her face as she poses and overacts. She is not the usual spoiled brat.

After that last scene , does Gael recognize Leona and Davis as Mar and Adrian?

Gael certainly is feeling a strong pull toward Leona. Will he try to convince Ram to rehire Leona?

I have no idea where this story is heading .

Invencible

Jarifa, Camila looked familiar to me, but I couldn't place her. Thanks for letting us know that she was Polita, the Tuppers lady . As i remember, Polita was a bright spot in that show.

INVENCIBLE

Diana, thanks for the highlights! “Deer in the headlights”, indeed. Gael has had one too many “is she or isn’t she?” moments already. It seems that after the electrocution, Leona realized how hare-brained her planned revenge in that situation had been. I cannot wait to see her next move.

Weirdo, intriguing point about Kika’s possible father. I don’t trust anything about Columba. I also think that Calixto was responsible for Camila’s accident. The old burr under the saddle? He probably has hated his wife from the get go.

A couple more facts:

Kika gets some drugs from her “boyfriend” to help her through the event and enjoys them.

Columba was incredibly physical with Oliver pulling him off his bed when he refused to go to the event.

Excellent : The dissonant music that was played as the final touches were being made at the event before it started. It sure set the crazy mood leading up to the impending murder. They sure are delivering on quality in this production. I will add the realistic electrocution and result of Manuel’s fall.

INVENCIBLE

Jarifa, thank you for noting the horrible scene where Columba was being "incredibly physical" with Oliver, trying to pull him off the bed. Hard to watch. She seems to have no motherly instinct at all.

Yes, the "dissonant music" was riveting!

"As we have observed,Ram has no problem doing his own killing" was a great observation Susanlyn. No henchies necessary, just do it yourself.

"Gael continues to stare at Leona with those puppy dog eyes" is exactly right. I'm not sure if the flashback he had (which was right on point) will be something he dismisses as coincidental or if he is really putting two and two together

We will just need to see.

Diana

Thanks, Diana and Jarifa for the highlights!

What a stupid plan indeed! While I really like this revenge plot, I'm wondering if Leona is ready to do it. She's literally shaking from fear when Ramsés approaches her and she's choosing ways to kill him that are extremely dangerous to OTHERS.

Manuel died, shocking, not. Steve is probably right, the body count will increase to 773 million by the end of the show.

I really hope Jacinta divorces Jeremías's butt.

Columba is very cruel, even to her own children. The Óliver scene proves it.

"I have no idea where this story is heading ." Neither do I, Susanlynn. Neither do I.

INVENCIBLE

Thank you, Diana! and a belated thank you to Jarifa for her "facts" on Tuesday's episode." "Briefs" are always very welcome :-)

It had never occurred to me that Gael may not be Kika's father...so thanks for that thought to ponder.

Leona was really stupid to think that no one else might touch that mic....in fact, her plan was just all around stupid. She has been saying that she wants Ramses to suffer as much as she has; so how is a quick death supposed to accomplish that?

Jarifa, thank you so much for identifying Camila as "Polita". I would have never guessed! Though she did look familiar, Camila's look is very different from Polita.

Susanlynn, I don't think Gael recognizes David/Leona as Adrian/Mar. He keeps getting flashbacks of situations that are similar to those in the present, but since he believes Leona is dead, he probably discounts any suspicious "feelings". And yes, I'm sure Gael will try to convince Ramses to allow Leona to return.

INVENCIBLE

Susanlynn, I will join you and Weirdo in "having no idea where this story is heading."

Weirdo, Jacinta better move ASAP on getting a divorce from that leech whatever the fallout is. You are spot on in your earlier comment about David coming clean with Leona. Jeremías spilling the beans first would not be a favorable look for David.

As for Gael, I cannot even begin to wonder what a nightmare growing up with Ramsés as a father was.

Invencible

Thanks, Diana and Jarifa. Super highlights.

Looking forward to how Leona and David will explain being together. This is just too coinkydink.

I don't think Benjamin intended to put Iztel in the friend zone, but he got nervous and his tongue tripped him up.

For such a high-level criminal, Ramses sure likes to have public events. With all his enemies, he should have a microphone tester and food tester on the payroll.

I'm glad the security guy is okay, or Leona would've had to move herself to the bad guy column. Hopefully, she'll start listening to David now.

INVENCIBLE

"Leona was really stupid to think that no one else might touch that mic....in fact, her plan was just all around stupid". It really was Rgv Chick! She would never have forgiven herself had something happened to AnaJu!!

Jarifa, the glimpses we saw of Ramses when Gael was growing up were horrific. I can't imagine either what else he had to suffer at his father's hands. When you think about it, he is lucky he has retained much kindness in the face of such hatred.

"With all his enemies, he should have a microphone tester and food tester on the payroll.
Niecie, isn't that the truth!!

Off to enjoy the sunshine and 85 degree weather!!

Invencible.

When Gael confronted Columba about getting pregnant so that he would marry her, I figured that baby (Kika) was not actually Gael's , but a means for Calumba to get him to marry her. My guess is that smarmy Calista helped her with her plan to marry into the family .

Diana, it is supposed to go up to 87 today . I had to dig out my capris and a teeshirt . I am sure this us temporary and temps will drop again.

Armando gave Demencia instructions for the faux funeral for Elsa's baby. The grave was to be placed on Demencia's property. She listened calmly and pointed out that this will be terrible for Elsa after a horrendous labor and delivery. She had delivered a healthy baby, almost died herself and to be told that her baby died will be cruel. Demencia said she would comply but asked whether it wouldn't be better to tell Elsa the truth, that he didn't want her to be a single mother and that the baby was with good parents. He said No, and not to mention this ever again. Padre Reynaldo looked up and said “Estela might tell her”; Armando interrupted him and said “The same. The baby died.” The padre closed his eyes and said “May God forgive us,” which annoyed Armando. He said to stop this and that he needed their help or they will suffer incredibly. Demencia studied his face and nodded while the padre shook his head.

When Lamberto said that it was too bad Elena was not there Gerardo said that her headache made her tired. She had been in charge of her siblings and now is not. “Yes, I can imagine,” Silvia said. She then asked whether he had heard from Estela and he said he had not; he was given to understand that there is no phone communication in that area. Silvia said there were many towns like that, and some without electricity. [If anyone from Mexico is reading this, please tell me if this is true. I find this very difficult to believe.] Silvia asked Gerardo to let them know the news of Elsa's baby so she could let Andres know, as he was very anxious. Gerardo promised he would. Lamberto and Silvia cleared the soup bowls and Antonia tried to get up to help. Gerardo would not release her hand. She was uncomfortable with this. He didn't want to be far from her ever since her admission of her feelings. She was uncomfortable because he was married to another, she didn't want to talk about this while dining with parents. Then Lamberto put the serving bowl on the table.

Carlos told Hector that Horacio had some good ideas for improving the hotel and would formally present them to him, and also that Aurora and himself would be moving in with Angela for a time. Hector was pleased with these developments. Carlos wasn't sure that moving in with Angela would work out; “She's very... special.” [Don't we all love the degradation of this word? I wonder if that is happening globally.] Horacio entered with his laptop and Carlos told him about the move and the reason for it. Horacio stood as still as a guard at Buckingham Palace and said nothing.

A nurse entered Elsa's room to check her pulse and blood pressure, which had improved. She told Flor, who had been sitting up with Elsa all night. When the nurse left the room Flor told the sleeping Elsa that soon she would be home holding her baby and will forget all the suffering.

Armando entered the waiting room with his tie loosened [Does he ever not wear one?] looking as though he had been up all night. Estela looked up and asked him what was wrong. Two questions later when Estela became anguished he told her that the baby was dead. Estela said “What? What?” then sat down and asked “Why? Que desgracia.” She looked at him again and asked “How? How did it happen?” He did not look at her when he began saying “Demencia said she was in the cradle, healthy for a few minutes, then suddenly couldn't breathe. She and Padre Reynaldo tried to revive her but they couldn't.” “Why? Poor child,” Estela cried. “I can't believe this.” “Neither can I,” Armando
said. “She only lived for one day. How does this happen?” Estela said. “Elsa can't handle any more pain.” “It's better if we don't tell her anything until she's recovered,” Armando said. “because this kind of news can cause her to have a setback.” “No, no, we can't let that happen.” Flor and Nora came in on this and Flor knew something wasn't right. She asked about Elsa and Estela told her Elsa was alright. Nora asked about the baby and Armando said “She is dead.” Both women sat near Estela and all were crying. Armando looked like he was also crying until he turned his back to them.

Gerardo wished Lamberto well, saying that he should do well in Mexico City. Lamberto was sure that he saw something more than friendship between Gerardo and Antonia. Gerardo tried to say that was not the case but his father saw that Gerardo was not happy in his marriage. Gerardo admitted he was right; he had recently discovered things about her he didn't like, starting with “the relationship with her father is not healthy” and her classism is intolerable. She has refused to continue talking with the psychiatrist, so no progress there. Lamberto advised him not to allow himself to endure twenty-five years of misery. It's too much time to waste with a woman who isn't worth the effort. I know from experience.”

Estela asked Armando what they were going to do with the baby's body. Armando said that he asked Demencia to find a location on her property. Estela wanted to see the baby before she was buried but Armando who asked “Why? You don't want that image to stay with you.” Estela stood up saying she wanted to go to Santa Ramona. “I want to talk to Demencia and Padre Reynaldo. I want to understand my granddaughter's death.” He then caved and said they would go. Flor told her she would stay at the hospital. Nora asked to go with them and they left. Flor cried intensely.

An infant-sized casket was delivered. Demencia tipped the delivery man and asked the padre if this would do. He said “Please, Demencia; don't make this more difficult. It will be sufficient to bury an empty coffin.” “Armando made the decision and I can't go against him. I could weight it down with potatoes but I don't want the servants getting suspicious. It's better to go to the stables to find something, but I need you to help me.” He did not move or even look at her. “Let's get this over with. Andale, let's go.” He looked at her. “Very well, I can do it alone.” She took the casket with her.

“We have to be careful what we say to Demencia,” Armando said as he drove back to the ranch. “We don't want her thinking we think it's her fault.” “Of course not,” Estela said through her tears. “This must be very hard for her. Besides, she isn't guilty of anything.” Nora commented on how tragic this was after Elsa had such a difficult labor. “The baby is dead; it's inconceivable.” “For all I look I can't see an explanation,” Estela said. “Yes, but that's life. These things happen,” said Armando.

Elsa woke up and greeted Flor, who gave her some water. She took a few sips and asked for Eva. By then she could see Flor's sad face and asked her why. Flor told her it was nothing, just emotion at her recovery because she had been unconscious for days. When she asked where Eva was Flor told her that she was in Santa Ramona with Tia Demencia but that Nora and Estela were on the way back. Elsa was relieved to hear this because she didn't want Eva to be alone with Tia Demencia. Her eyes were closed against the sunlight as she said she wanted to hold her and that Andres would be so happy. Flor was crying. She stopped talking lest the tears show in her voice.

Estela, Armando, and Nora arrived at the ranch. Estela walked right up to Demencia and asked what happened. She looked to be crying herself. She said she had put the baby down, went to get a glass of water, and came back to find the baby not breathing. From there she used Armando's script. Estela yelled “But why? Where is she. I want to see her.” “We already had the funeral. We didn't know if we could wait.”

Gerardo was reading in the bedroom when Elena came in ranting about Irene, who had arrived without notice and taken the younger kids out for ice cream. Gerardo asked her what was wrong with that. “There's something about that woman that I can't tolerate,” Elena said. “How can you be so intolerant? She's your aunt. It's nice of her to worry about the kids when your mother isn't here.” “I should be doing that. She's a busybody. Besides she asked to help when I return to therapy and I told her that wasn't true.” Gerardo laughed a little ironically. “Why are you laughing? Do you think that's funny?” “No, I don't. It's that nothing pleases you. Everything bothers you.” “That's not true. What bothers me is her. I don't know what to do, what to say. And you...aren't you going to tell me how the dinner went?” “It went very well. Silvia made a delicious mole. You missed out on it.” “No. I don't like mole.” Gerardo looked at his book. “And did you talk to Antonia?” “Of course; we were in her house.” “And what did you talk about?” she asked with a sarcastic grin “The hotel guests or the guests checking in or the visits of your sister's –” Gerardo got up. “Basta! I'm fed up with your sick jealousies. If you're so interested in what goes on you need to read.” He held out the book, then put it down and headed for the door. “Where are you going?” “Out. Somewhere else.”

Aurora and Carlos arrived at Angela's house and she told them she redid Aurora's room. Aurora laid down Gerardo's law: No alcohol. “Ah you're exaggerating.” “It can do you so much harm, don't you know that?” I had one drink to celebrate your arrival. One drink never hurt anybody.” Both Aurora and Carlos looked worried. “You're just as bad as your brother. Nobody gets hurt on one drink.” Aurora's phone rang. She probably should not have answered Horacio. “Why did you move to your mother's house? You didn't believe me? I was sincere when I said I would respect your marriage.” [Not from your current actions, idiot.] “I'm not interested, young fellow. Thanks.” She immediately ended the call. They took their suitcases upstairs.

Andres' lawyer told Lamberto that she was pushing for new statements and she would keep him informed.

Irene was with the kids in the dining room while they were working on their homework. Elena came down the stairs. “I didn't hear you arrive.” “I got here a little while ago,” Irene answered. “The kids are finishing their assignments and they're up to date.” Sofie asked Irene if they could all go out but Elena immediately told them they had to get up early the next day so she said for them to go upstairs, bathe, and start getting ready for dinner. Irene told them to obey their sister and they will see each other another time. They took their things and left the room. Irene commented on what lovely children they are and Elena said that if she spent whole days with them she might not think the same. Irene said that it must have been difficult to take care of them while her mother was away and she offered to help. “No; it wasn't. I can be in charge of them.” She made it very clear she wanted control and a sentence later Irene left.

Antonia and Horacio were at the reception desk when Hector came from his other office. Horacio explained that he was installing software to enable instant thank-you letters to guests when they depart. Hector told him this was a good idea, asked Antonia to have a large coffee brought to his office, than entered it.

As Elsa's family watched Manuel put the coffin into the earth and a bouquet on top of it Armando asked the padre to say some words. Padre Reynaldo silently prayed for forgiveness then asked for God to protect Eva and to help Elsa through this immense sadness. He then did the sign of the cross. Everyone else did so. Then Armando picked up some earth and threw it onto the bouquet and the coffin. The padre studied his face as he backed up and one of the ranch hands began the burial. The close-up of Armando's face resembled a military portrait.

Later Demencia and Nora excused themselves to make coffee, leaving Estela, Armando, and the padre in the living room. Estela continued to cry, asking “Why is God punishing us like this?” “God does not punish; don't think this way,” Padre Reynaldo said. “I am sure that this will unite you and Elsa.” “I don't know. If my daughter resigns herself... what tragedy. Could she find consolation?” “God will not abandon her.” “Do you know how I feel, Padre? That my God abandoned me. It looks like it wasn't enough to be locked up in the loony bin and now having to fake it before everyone that I'm happy with Armando. I only hoped to return with my daughter and my granddaughter and now it is all lost. Why did all this happen?” “You are a strong woman and you will conquer this just as you did the asylum. Someone has to have the strength to help Elsa. She will need you more than ever.” “No. I don't know; I don't know.” “A mother always brings out strength whenever it's needed to help her children.” “What I don't know is if I can endure my suffering. There is no greater suffering than losing a child.”

Aurora and Carlos came down the stairs while Angela was writing. She picked up the vodka bottle to pour a drink and Aurora took it away from her. It was still 2/3rds full. Aurora told her that when they moved in it was on the promise that she would stop drinking. Angela tried to get Carlos to leave the room but Aurora said “No, Mother. We wouldn't have any problems if you would just stop drinking. Angela said she would limit her drinking to special occasions like this one. Aurora pleaded with her not to drink. Angela said “Okay; this will be the last one,” but Aurora wasn't having it. She took the bottle and headed for the kitchen. Carlos followed her.

Flor sat in the reception area and continued to cry. Estela returned from the ranch and told her that Eva had been buried. She described how sad it was to bury such a small coffin. Flor said that she hoped that God would not abandon Elsa when she is told. Estela said that Demencia had been traumatized at finding Eva dead. Flor told her that Elsa had awakened and asked about her baby.

More tears later Estela entered Elsa's room and although she was asleep started talking as though rehearsing what she had to tell her. She looked at the crucifix on the wall, then back at Elsa.

The next morning Silvia and Lamberto took their leave of Antonia and got into his car.

At the ranch Armando took his first coffee of the day alone at the dining table. Nora came down next. Both said they had trouble sleeping. She talked about the funeral and her difficulty with the idea of burying a baby. Armando told her that was normal. Nora offered her help and Armando politely told her they would be alright. He said it would be better for Elsa to have her friends back. Nora talked about wanting to go someplace where there are people, things, and communication. She wanted out of this life. Before Armando could answer Demencia entered the room and suggested to Nora that she prepare breakfast.

Estela was at Elsa's bedside. Elsa was weak, therefore tired. She barely knew where she was. The doctor was not ready to discharge her and Estela must have had a hard time withholding the news nobody wanted to tell her.

Aurora and Carlos came down to breakfast. Angela told them she had the cook make Carlos' favorite because “he's now the man in the house.” While she didn't roll her eyes at this Aurora told her not to make a big deal of this; she just wants them to be a normal family [not that Aurora knows what that is, poor girl].

Estela went down to breakfast and asked Lily where her husband was. Lily said he had gone out a short while ago, most likely to work. Elena acted confused because it was Monday. She left the room and called his cell only to get his voice mail. She cut it off, not leaving a message.

Gerardo pulled up in front of Antonia's house. He said since it was the first day without her mother he was checking to see if she was alright. She was a bit ill at ease. However, he told her that he felt something for her too, something far more than mere friendship. He kissed her and she most emphatically did not resist.

Nora ran out of the house when Armando went out toward his car. She almost begged him to take her out of there. He told her he could not do that without her mother's consent.

Elena tried calling Gerardo again and did not leave a message.

He was in Antonia's house. She was still trying to resist. He asked how he could be expected to ignore his feelings. She said they had to do the right thing. He said that the right thing was to be with the one you love. She asked “What about Elena?” He answered that they had been novios for 16 years WTF??? I guess their marriage was arranged after all. and he no longer knew what he felt about her. Antonia said it was too late for them and she didn't want to be “the other woman.” Gerardo told her he didn't want to be like his father and waste so many years with a woman he didn't love when he could be with one he did love. He intended to divorce Elena [whom we flies on the wall know will likely be the same amount of trouble as Angela was to Lamberto]. Antonia's response was the echo of her mother's: Do that and come to me again. After more word about how he could not stay away from her he agreed and left. Antonia cried after the door closed.

Elena called Marco, the doctor who had given Gerardo Armando's file. She asked him if Gerardo was there. He said he was in surgery and would look for him as soon as he got off duty. Elena thanked him and ended the call.

Estela and Armando sat in the waiting room talking about how to tell her. The doctor came out saying that Elsa was stable and they were going to do some final tests which could mean they would be able to discharge her. He then excused himself. Armando then told Estela they needed to decide who would tell Elsa about the baby. She said she would do it. As she left the room Armando's face showed that he considered Estela to be a prize fool.

Marco called Gerardo to tell him about Elena's call.

Estela went into Elsa's room. Elsa was eager to leave and be with her baby. Estela told her she was likely to be discharged soon. Then the dreaded words “Before that happens there is something I have to tell you.” were said. “What happened?” Estela spoke slowly and haltingly. “It's a tragedy.” “What tragedy?” “It's about Eva.” “What tragedy, Mama? What happened to Eva? Answer me!” “we lost her, my love. Your baby is an angel who is no longer with us in this world.” Elsa froze for a moment, hen cried in disbelief. “No, this can't be true. She died?” “Yes.” Elsa cried out “No! Multiple times
as she knocked down the transfusion rack and cried.

PERDONA

Urban, you did an amazing job with this non-stop barrage of grief and sorrow. Your kind and caring narration of Estela’s conversation with the pitiful padre culminating in “there is no greater suffering than losing a child” was beautifully done.

“May God forgive us.” I know a merciful God will bring Armando to justice, but I suspect He might consider the padre’s sin far more egregious. I know I do.

I readily admit this was one of the few times I just could not watch the faux burial; it was simply far too realistic. If things weren’t terrible enough seeing Estela’s and Flor’s grief, that tiny casket tipped this over the edge of hopelessness. How will Elsa bear this?

“Armando looked like he was also crying until he turned his back to them”. Fiend.

“He intended to divorce Elena…Antonia's response was the echo of her mother's: Do that and come to me again”. I’m so disappointed in Gerardo!

“For all I look I can't see an explanation,” Estela said. Neither can we Estela. Neither can we.

Did anyone else think Lamberto and Silvia leaving now was the worst timing ever???

Horacio is not going to leave Aurora alone…Hector is keenly aware of what is transpiring and the truth is the train has left the station, hurling into the tunnel as another train in the opposite direction flies there as well.

Thanks, Urban.

FINALLY, Gerardo gave in and agreed to friends only with Antonia until he got a DIVORCE. His came off as very selfish and his insistence with Antonia was very off-putting.

My current RAT B* list:

Armando
Horacio He of the Loose Screw
Father Reynaldo
Elena
Aurora
Angela
Demencia

What nasty people!

Armando and his sad clown face was too much. That was funny in itself but became funnier when he could reveal his real self: not upset at all just exasperated by the drama of it all.

Where is Irene when you need her?

PERDONA

Diana, it looks like you were as disappointed as I was in Gerardo.

Gracias, Urban. Excellent storytelling for last night's intense episode.

If I heard it right, Gerardo said he and Elena had been novios since he was 16. He thought he loved Elena, but didn't realize until after marriage that she looked down on others and was a wet blanket. I take it that they never got out much or mixed with folks of other classes. His lack of awareness of what Elena was all about is a real beanie moment.

Diana and Jarifa, ITA with you on Gerardo selfishness. He has a little something in common with his momma after all. Antonia, stand your ground. Let him get out of the stew he jumped into Elena first. Any fallout from affair with Gerardo will hit you hard, not him, in this small town.

Did anyone else think Lamberto and Silvia leaving now was the worst timing ever??? Diana, yes, yes, yes.

I hope Nora manages to sneak out of town somehow.

Part of me thinks Padre Reynaldo went along with Armando's plan because he thinks the baby should be with an established married couple. Elsa is young to be a mother, but she would've gotten plenty of help from Estella, Flor, and Irene. Plus, Andres, is hardworking and resourceful (which he will prove again if he ever gets out of prison). Andres had promised Padre Reynaldo that he and Elsa would marry as soon as they could.

I hope we get a time jump because this is too sad.

Jarifa, loved your Rat B* list! And the padre is right in there with them. Can enough rosaries be said to save his soul??? I'm wondering :(

"Selfish" is a perfect descriptive of Gerardo. Granted he is drowning personally, professionally and morally but Antonia is not a life raft. Save yourself ex-galan.

Niecie, you are so right! Apparently the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Gerardo is sadly his mother's son. I'm crushed.

I wonder how poor Andres is going to hear the news. With Lamberto gone (and having no idea) I certainly hope it won't be left to Elsa to tell him. That would be horrid.

Thanks, Urban, great recaps of distressing times. I don’t think Elsa will look for the baby if she thinks she’s dead. I hope something happens soon so she does look. I don’t want her to find her at age 18. Someone said the adoptive dad was someone famous. Maybe his part will grow.

Aurora and her mother were meant for each other. Poor Carlos. I missed Hector making the comment about Aurora sleeping with both his sons in the same bed! Love that comment! And why does Horacio keep calling Aurora. Carlos is going to see his name on the calls.

Loved Geraldo refusing to “obey” his wife and stay home. She’s the one that hired the detective so she must realize if anyone destroyed that marriage it was her father. And her, they’re not ideas, I’m right, with her frowny, pinched face! Of course she is right about Antonia! I can’t wait till she’ll left alone for a “lower class” girl.

I’m all caught up, now need to catch up on Invencible!

Perdona #36

Diana,
this episode was difficult... and I'm a True Crime buff.

BTW I just saw that this series is projected to have 90 episodes.

Silvia and Lamberto have been through a lot of grief. There may be no good time for their departure or this was the best time. She has had to put up with Angela's nastiness for a long time over something that happened before she married Lamberto. I get seriously ill every time she goes on about "class" because no matter what sort of family she came from she has none. Aurora could end up hitting the bottle herself after a couple of weeks under the same roof as Angela. How many episodes does anyone here think will pass before Angela gets completely wasted and tells Carlos about Aurora and Horacio?

Since Gerardo and Elena were "novios" for 16 years that would mean that Elena was 7 years old when that was decided. Lamberto talked about having been married to Angela for 25 years but unless Gerardo was a latter-day Doogie Howser that would make him only 24 or 25 (the actor is actually 38), so WTF?? Somebody fell asleep at the switch.

Not sure I should change "Demencia" back to her original name yet.

Elena gets more looney all the time. When Gerardo divorces her he will need a restraining order.

I don't think that Padre Reynaldo is so out of date in his thinking. I think he suspects Armando had gotten away with Olmos' murder and doesn't want to be the next victim.

PERDONA

Urban, Gerardo said that they were novios since they were 16 which is still is a long time but not quite as disturbing.

Keep the Demencia. I am hoping we haven’t seen the end of her yet. How I would love for her to expose the illegal adoption.

90 episodes is long but better than 130.

PERDONA

"How many episodes does anyone here think will pass before Angela gets completely wasted and tells Carlos about Aurora and Horacio?" had me wondering how and when clueless Carlos will find out Urban! I hope it's sooner rather than later before Aurora gets pregnant and we have to endure another who's the daddy scenario.

I'm with Jarifa! Keep Demencia! She certainly has calmed down from the fire breathing, whip thrashing dragon we saw not long ago. It's as though she is two different people.

Urban, thank you for an excellent recap of all the deceit, cruelty , and grief .

I had to turn off the show when the fake funeral began . Too awful. I can't even comment on it.

Urban, I miss the screenshots of your fan collection!
