AMOR INVENCIBLE #10

Coincidences and Abduction…A few highlights

Leona nonchalantly notes that she and David ending up living in the same place was coincidental. Gael, rightfully, does not look quite convinced.

As Leona and Gael climb the stairs, he and David share sharp, jealous looks.

Gael tells Leona that he is going to speak to his (monstrous) father to get her job back. We know it isn’t just Oliver whose heart she touches and he does admit that she reminds him of the woman who was the love of his life but whom he destroyed (he didn’t actually say the last part but he should have). He trusts her implicitly Leona acquiesces with a smile.

On the way out, he runs into Benja. He is surprised that David is his tio and when he says he is like a father, Gael flashes back again to the horrible scene in the hospital where Leona was giving birth. As they leave each other, Gael tugs on his ear as does Benja. Benja seemed to feel the call of the blood.

Leona tells David how much he means to her, he told her that her children are alive! Hmmm, I want to see love but see only gratitude.

Gael stands up to Ramses telling him he wants Leona back but it’s a hard sell as Ramses fortifies himself with a hard drink.

David is visibly distraught as he tries to comfort Leona. He is almost desperate telling her that he is jealous but also cautions her to remember how devastated she was years ago. He vows to protect her but Leona’s heart clearly hasn’t healed and we know she is headed down the path from which she may never recover.

Camila hasn’t managed to change out of her party dress.

Kika is obviously stoned which does not go unnoticed by Josepha.

Sick, twisted Calixto contacts Lola!

Things move so quickly! In an instant, Columba finds Oliver’s note that he is leaving as he wants Leona, is abducted by some street scum, ransom demanded and is being delivered all within 15 minutes of the same episode! Gael begs Leona to help and she does – she and David deliver the money although she was told to come alone. The thugs are masked and guns drawn as they approach the dilapidated warehouse door!

Diana

INVENCIBLE

Thanks, Diana for the highlights. Yes, things really moved quickly last night.

A few more facts:

Benja tells Gael he wants to be just like him. (Yes, Diana there meeting did seem like “the call of the blood.” Gael answers that no, he really doesn’t. Benja tells his mother he wants to see if Gael will give him a simple job at his company so he can help them more with expenses. She is not in favor. He needs to keep his scholarship up and his current employment at the beauty shop.

David tries to get Jacinta to come clean with Beja’s identity considering Jeremías’ continuing threats. When he has the opportunity to tell Leona the WHOLE truth which he explains he has been keeping from her, he instead tells her that Jeremías is threatening him with revealing his true identity as Adrián. (Boy is he digging a hole for himself.

When they find out that Oliver is missing, Gael leaves to look for him and they file an Amber Alert. Ramsés ends up blaming his family for Oliver running away due to them being out of control. Both Jacinta and Camila blame Columba for her lack of affection in dealing with her son. Columba reminds them that Camila’s “daughter” isn’t really hers but a result of sex that Gael had with that fisherwoman. Josefa slaps her. Ramsés warns her that she needs to shut up or those words will be her last.

Invencible

Gracias, Diana. Super highlights. "As they leave each other [Gael and Benjamin], Gael tugs on his ear as does Benja." -- That was a cute moment and reminded me that not only does Benja have a birth mother and birth father he doesn't know, but also a half-brother and half-sisters. Nothing but surprises in store for him.

Columpa is human after all. She seemed genuinely distraught, like any mother would, about Oliver missing.

Lola is a pain, but I thought she was at least street-savvy. But nope, looks like she's headed to meet up with mystery pervert Calixto.

Part 1 of 5

Elsa cried, saying this had to be a lie. Estela told her she needed to accept this. This is a mystery of God and it was crib death. Elsa kept asking why, finally addressing the crucifix. She demanded to see her baby.

Gerardo and Aurora talked about Angela's problem. Aurora never saw her at home without a glass or a bottle. Aurora was sure there was much more hidden. Gerardo said she needed to be in rehab but she would not acknowledge that she had a problem. Aurora told him that their mother was very far from that realization. They would have to try to control this but it's very difficult. He asked Aurora how Carlos liked living there. She told him that he wasn't crazy about it but is very accommodating to her. Gerardo said Carlos was an excellent husband and told her to take care of him. As for himself he would help her with their mother if she needed it. He suggested they search out the booze and get rid of it but Aurora said “That will only annoy her and she'll buy more. Leave it to me for the moment.” She asked about Elena. Gerardo spared her the gore and said she was in charge of the other kids for the moment while Armando wasn't home. Aurora looked confused.

Elsa asked why they buried Eva. Estela explained they could not tell her until she recovered. They had to bury her. This happened two days ago. “Why didn't you tell me?” “You were very weak and we were concerned about you having a setback.” She asked where and Estela told her it was in Santa Ramona. Elsa insisted on getting out of the hospital. Estela said she would talk to the doctor. Armando entered the room and Estela told him she was going to speak to the doctor. She left the ward. Armando asked Elsa how she felt. She swept the table clean of the food tray and yelled “How do you want me to feel? How can you ask me how I feel? If you are alive, [???] What do you believe I feel?” Armando stood there, expressionless.

Estela spoke to the doctor who was more empathetic than anyone other than Estela, who said that the only consolation would be the grave site. She asked the doctor when he would release Elsa. He told her that it was almost time but he might be able to release her sooner. She thanked him and went back to the ward.

Antonia visited Andres. They talked about their parents. That was good and Andres was happy for them. He asked about the departure and she said that she was just getting used to living alone. As for his own situation that was going nowhere fast. He asked about the Quirogas and she told him that the Gerardo had no communication from them. Andres then had a bad premonition. Antonia told him that he needed to think positive. That Elsa was alright and that the baby will be born healthy.

Lamberto and Silvia met with his cousin, Ramón. When he said he recognized Silvia Lamberto explained that she once worked for his parents and now she is his ladylove. They were welcomed into Ramón's house.

Armando and Estela brought Elsa back to the ranch. Flor hugged her as Elsa asked her to pull her out of this nightmare. Flor said that she wished this were all a bad dream. Elsa kept asking “Why?” Armando said “You have to be strong, you have to conquer your feelings. You have a life ahead of you.” Elsa looked at her father with contempt. Estela told him it was too soon to say such things. Estela hugged Elsa and told her to cry as much as she wanted. When Elsa said she couldn't understand this Estela said to think of Eva as an angel who will visit her.

Gerardo played futbol with the kids while Elena read a magazine. He asked her how it was and Elena said she was bored. She got on his case about being “the busiest doctor in Mexico” and this led to the same argument as before about him deliberately working that many hours to avoid being with her. Even helping Aurora with their mother didn't escape Elena's nastiness. He asked her not to call Dr Sanchez every time she's looking for him because he can't be interrupted in his work. She got up and got nasty again saying “And what do you want me to do when I don't know where my husband is?” [Bitch, why don't you get a job?] He told her not to talk to him like that. She asked what he expected her to do, sit around all day waiting for him at home? In the hospital? She followed him inside. The younger kids stopped playing. The argument continued. He was tired of her suspicions... and her.

Nora cried as soon as she saw Elsa. They hugged and Nora said to unload her grief on her. Demencia asked for forgiveness. Armando said she didn't need to. “Crib death is nobody's fault.” Padre Reynaldo gave him a hard look, then told Elsa he hoped she could resign herself to this. Elsa wanted to see the grave. Estela said she would take her there but reminded her that the doctor advised rest. Elsa agreed and Estela took her to her room. When they were out of the living room Padre Reynaldo told Armando and Demencia that what they had done will not get God's forgiveness. Armando told him to cut it out and not try to torment him over it. He pointed out Elsa's suffering and said the whole world experiences this. “This is for her good,”

Elsa was determined to see the grave. Nora offered to go with her.

Ramón and Lamberto talked about work. This all sounded like it would work out. He then commented about Angela and Lamberto said that marrying her was the biggest mistake of his life. Ramón said he always has a bad vibe about Angela, seeing her as being fake and superficial while Silvia being a good person. Lamberto said that all he needed now for happiness is to get Andres out of jail.

Part 3 of 5

Elsa went to the modest grave accompanied by her parents, Flor, Demencia, Nora, and Padre Reynaldo. Elsa became angry at the name on the cross, saying that “My daughter's name is Eva Martinez Quiroga. This is wrong! This is Wrong!” Nora said they could change it. Elsa sank down to the ground crying. Armando said “Let's go, Elsa. Let's go back to the ranch.” The padre whispered to Armando that they need to tell Elsa the truth because of Elsa's suffering. Armando said “Never.” Demencia may have heard this.

Everyone in Demencia's area came to the ranch to pray. Demencia said this was the local custom. Elsa wanted to be alone. Armando wanted nothing more than to get out of there as fast as possible. Demencia told him this would end shortly. Armando told the padre to preside over this and then they would leave. He told Demencia that Elsa needed to be home with her family. The padre disagreed about whether they should go home immediately because of doctor's orders. Armando was determined. Demencia then began buttering him up, lamenting that they don't see him often enough. Nora asked Armando if she could come with them and he agreed if her mother allows it.

Oliver asked Andres whether he heard from Elsa and he told him no. Oliver then said that things must be alright because bad news flies.

Elsa told her mother she did not understand God. Estela started crying, saying she hoped that she will someday. They cried together.

Armando thanked Demencia and she said she would always be around if needed. He knew she was looking for something and she told him she was in need of a new tractor. It wasn't in good shape before and the storm did more damage. Some more money than usual would be fine. He said to count on it and touched her face before heading toward the car [This looked flirtatious so WTF???]. Estela graciously thanked Demencia who was polite to her. [Did she notice the hard look from Flor?] Padre Reynaldo told her he hoped never had to see her again. Nora came out with her suitcase. Dementia defaulted to her normal mode and refused to let her leave. Nora asked if Armando had talked to her and he said No, she was supposed to do that. Nora told her demented mother she was a full adult and could not be obligated to stay but Dementia said “You will leave when I'm dead.” [More in that vein; we get it.] Armando gave Nora the most insincere apology saying that without her mother's permission she could not leave with them. Nora cried and said her fairwells to Elsa. Demencia then called Nora's name in her usual tone.

Estela, Elsa, Flor, and the padre sat in the boarding area lounge while Armando was standing a few feet away looking at his phone. Estela and the padre talked about Elsa recovering. Their flight was called and Armando rounded up his victims.

Part 4 of 5

Demencia and Nora argued. Nora hated the rural life and Demencia tried to gaslight her that she would not make it in San Juan, finally saying “I will never forget what you did to me.” This was about Ivan. “You were born here and here you will stay.” Demencia said she would never forgive her for this. Nora even told her she didn't understand why she had her.

Rosendo wanted to talk to Andres about the letter from his brother. Andres read the letter to him. It said that the property they own is of interest to a hotelier because it is near a beach. He didn't quite believe it because of the location. He told Andres to keep this on the down low so the other prisoners don't find out he could be coming into serious money.

Elena tried to get the younger children to go to bed. Their family arrived; she was both tired and depressed so she went straight to bed. The other kids thought she had been in the boarding school and the nuns had been tough on her. Elena behaved indifferently to Elsa, not even touching her. Estela invited Padre Reynaldo to have dinner with them but he wanted to go home. Estela then went into the kitchen. Armando cornered the padre before he left and talked to him about the secrets and the padre said he would not tell. “Because you were part of the deception.” Armando wanted to give him money but he would not accept it, even pulling his hand back. He told him “I won't take your money; you will need this money someday” and ending with “It would burn my hands.”

Flor met Lily. It was awkward.

Armando privately told Elena that the baby died of SIDS. He described the birth. Elena didn't say much beyond “How horrible.”

The padre went home and prayed for forgiveness again, asking Jesus to protect the baby and help Elsa get over the pain they had caused her.

Gerardo went to Elsa's room to check on her. He told her he hoped that she would be (emotionally} compensated for this loss. Herself, Andres, etc. She would have to live the pain until she can see life ahead. He said he was there for her.

Sofie entered Elsa's room and stayed with her.

Flor went to talk to Estela about Lily. Estela said she could not just put her out; she would talk to Armando about it.

Perdon

Gracias, Urban. All the deets I needed. "Their flight was called and Armando rounded up his victims.” -- perfect depiction. Armando is about the worst dad I've seen in a TN. I think it's just a typo, but "Part 4 of 5" is shown twice and there's no "Part 5 of 5." typo.

Thanks goodness for a little comic relief with Flor out of joint about Lily working in her place for the Quirogas.

Lamberto's cousin telling him he always thought Angela was a phony and a pain was a little comic relief too.

I hate to see Nora locked up but I'm guessing she'll overhear what really happened with Eva.

Perdona #37

I hate typos, but the recap is in the correct order.

I don't think Nora will overhear anything now since Armando and the Padre have left. I am sure that Demencia knows how dangerous Armando is so I doubt anyone else knows. I was rather perplexed at the locl people coming over to pray. That does sound like a local custom but how are these people not scared witless of Demencia? Would that not also be a risk to the secrecy?

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Jarifa, thank you for all the extra information which was so helpful...

Poor Jacinta, the walls are really closing in on her from all sides. It doesn't seem as though she prepared for what might happen should Leona appear. She really should have. Sort of ironic that David is pleading with Jacinta to speak up while he is mum!!

Niecie, Columba did indeed seem beside herself when Oliver turned up missing. But I guess not badly enough to stop her cruel tirade toward poor Camila!

Ramses isn't playing. Columba, take heed!

Diana

INVENCIBLE

Diana, I meant to mention in my first post how much I am enjoying your titles. They are spot-on. As for Jacinta, the ball is sure in her court. You are right that she should have considered the possibility of Benja’s mother reappearing at some point. I was shocked how quickly everyone turned on Columba as I was when Gael gave her that ultimatum in the office. She is low on the pecking order but doesn’t seem to realize it.

Niecie, so true about Lola. She is headed for a fall.

Invencible

Diana, thank you for the recap.

Wait! What! Wow! ....what an episode . The bright spot was Gael and Ben running into each other for the second time and having a second handshake. As they turned from each other and walked away, they both touched their ears. Did they feel the call of the sangre?

Gael certainly feels a strong pull toward Leona , and I have noticed a certain look that she gets on her face when she talks to him. Could the writers bring them together at the end, or will Gael have a tragic ending perhaps saving Mar\Leona so that she will end up with David.

Makes no sense that David is not telling Leona That Ben is her son if he is so in love with her.

PERDONA

Urban, thanks for another great recap and your commentary like “Bitch, why don’t you get a job?” “This looked flirtatious so WTF?” I laughed out loud at that second one. Makes you wonder about Armando and Demencia.

Sorry, but anytime Armando talks to Elena and she is all over him it gives me the creeps.

It was so bizarre when Estela told Elsa they couldn’t remove the “remains” of her daughter and take them home because she was buried and not cremated. ?????

Padre Reynaldo tried to assuage his conscious saying that the Elsa situation wasn’t in his hands, but it was. He was just too weak and ethically compromised to do anything about it. Not taking the payment from Armando meant NOTHING. It took no courage. What a wimp!

What is Gerardo waiting for? File for divorce and leave town if necessary. He can earn a living anywhere.

Loved Estela telling Armando she would be seeing no more psychiatrists and no more Dr. Nightmare.

I am ready for the crying to end.

PERDONA

Urban, your recap was exceptional and perfectly reflected the continuing angst and agony.

Elsa at the edge of despair was just heartbreaking yet Elena had not an ounce of cold comfort for her sister. I just can’t…

“Estela spoke to the doctor who was more empathetic than anyone other than Estela” rang so true.

Armando can’t be human; to watch his child suffer so agonizingly is unfathomable.

Forget the thirty pieces of silver, the modern price of betrayal is now a tractor.

Andres feels the first premonition that all is not well. Elsa has Estella, her siblings (sans Elena) and Flor to comfort her. He will have no one now that Silvia has left (sorry, she should live her life but just not this minute).

Urban, the way Armando touched Decmencia’s “…face before heading toward the car” did look completely cringeworthy and inappropriate.

“Loved Estela telling Armando she would be seeing no more psychiatrists and no more Dr. Nightmare” – me too Jarifa! The one bright spot.

The not so good padre telling Armando his money would burn his hands is the least of his problems. The fires of hell are already licking at the soles of his shoes (I am beyond upset with Reynaldo).

Diana

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Jarifa, I'm glad you like the titles! They just make it a bit more fun :)

Susanlynn, "Makes no sense that David is not telling Leona That Ben is her son if he is so in love with her". I can't say I disagree. And now, he's just waited too long...I have a feeling her finding out will make the reveal even more of a betrayal on his part. If you love someone, put the words and actions behind it.

This love triangle is what true telenovelas are made of. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

Diana

PERDONA

Diana,

“The fires of hell are already licking at the soles of his shoes.” Love it!

Perdona #37

I think the Padre is redeemable but he will need a crisis of faith first. I don't think we've seen an example of that in a long time. I shudder to think of what would have happened to the baby if he had not gone to Demencia's ranch with Armando. Since religious people believe that God/Jesus will forgive someone like Charles Manson, Padre Reynaldo will be forgiven.

I totally get the same vibe when Armando interacts with Elena. If we are right about this I wonder if the writers told the actors about this in advance. Incest is a very rare subject in these tales.

And now... let's talk about Demencia.

She is obviously a poor relation of Estela's and it wouldn't shock me if we learn that they were rivals over Armando back in the day. We don't know who Nora's father was or why Demencia lives in such a primitive area. She could also be a dirty secret of her own kind. Right now I am thinking that Armando could be the reason she hates Estela as much as she does which could also mean that Armando is Nora's father.

PERDONA

Urban, that would be a great plot turn with Elsa and Nora being half-sisters.

Perdona #37

Thanks, Urban, another heartbreaking episode. Armando is one cold b——-d. If the three keep the secret the truth will never get out. And we know it will. I’m wondering if Elsa will ask her mom how the baby looked, or was dressed. Eventually it will dawn on them that none of them saw the deceased baby and things will get moving!

I also thought Nora might be Armando’s daughter. Demencia seems closer to him than to Estela, who is her relative. And he’s sending her money regularly.

I hope Sylvia and Lamberto can find happiness. I also hope he plans to marry her!

I was trying to think of a way to describe Elena. I’m thinking “fishwife”. I heard that years ago, not sure what it means. But I cringe when she starts in on Gerardo. I wonder if it will continue now that her parents are home.

I hope Carlos sees the true Aurora, I think he already knows the true Angela. I’d like him to end the marriage before he finds out about his brother.

Wonder where things will go from here. Elsa is not going to pop back from this. I guess she’ll now be the daughter Armando wanted. No life or rebellion in her.

Liz

PERDONA

Liz, you asked a good question about "fishwife". I've always heard it in context of "screaming like a fishwife". I believe it may have started by women hawking their men's "fish" and being christened as loud and shrewish. A bad rap!

Nora (possibly) being Armando's daughter?? Urban and Jarifa, I'm all in. Now THAT would be something!!

Diana

Perdona

Urban, thank you for providing us faith every moment .

I can't watch those scenes of Elsa suffering . This storyline is very upsetting .

Can't believe that Gerardo, who was so galanlike, is now putting the moves on poor, smitten Antonia. It occurred to me that if Sylvia and Lsmberto marry, they will be step siblings .

Perdona #37

Nora as half-sister to Estela's children... This could be the next plot twist and a crazy one because Demencia (who will be stuck with that nick due to her most recent behavior) is Estela's aunt, meaning that Nora would be related to her children on both sides.

As for Gerardo and Antonia becoming step-siblings, that would be no legal impediment to their becoming a couple as there is no blood connexion. This would only be (emotionally and socially) incestuous if their parents had married when they were kids.

Diana, that is the definition of fishwife.

I agree with everyone who wants Carlos to see the real Aurora before she gets pregnant. However, I don't think she especially wants to have children anytime soon.

So if Armando flew back with the rest of them, what happened to his car? Did the writers drop the ball there?

If I was wrong about when Gerardo and Elena became novios and that began at age 16 that was still possibly arranged and still made for the inability to know each other well enough for him to realize that she is one sick chick.

NOTE: Tonight is a game night for me and I will be at the opera tomorrow afternoon. Recap of tonight's episode will be posted sometime on Sunday.

Perdona

I think Nora is somehow going to find out what happened with the baby and tell Elsa.

AMOR INVENCIBLE #11 Part 1

Highway to Hell Highlights and Lowlights

The doors of the abandoned warehouse are flung open and Leona and David burst into the room. All Leona wants to know is that Oliver is safe but they are menaced by the masked thugs, David manages to get a knife away from one and Leona throws her backpack into the other thug’s face. The kidnappers run out just as the police arrive. Gael roars up, alighting from the car telling Kika and AnaJu to stay there.

Leona calms an upset Oliver. Gael explains to the policeman who he is and charges in, taking Oliver from David’s arms. Are you all right son he asks. Thank you Leona he says as she shakes her head. He thanks David who says Oliver is safe. They leave the warehouse as the girls run from the car to greet him. Thank you Leona Gael says.

Consuelo finally arrives home where all are waiting. She tells them she found some lumps.

We see a rather stern and defiant Lola meeting Calixto at a restaurant. He ID’s himself as Ramses. Their scenes were hard to watch. He stroked her hand as though he were petting a cat. She tells him she is “of age” although anyone can see she is a young teenager. He throws out empty promises, she teases and he wants to make an arrangement with her to be his lover. I will leave it at that. She stares without warmth.

Josepha is overjoyed to see her grandson. Columba is too until she sees Leona. Why is she there??Gael sets those present straight that Leona saved Oliver as everyone stares, mouths agape.

Consuelo comforts her children. They all hug and kiss. What a lovely family.

Leona is my responsibility Gael tells Ramses as discussion continues. Josepha has heard enough as has Columba. Leona regards Columba with a faint, dismissive shake of her head.

Ramses obtains Leona’s assurance her relationship with Gael will be completely professional. He welcomes her back to the fold.

Gael thanks Leona as he flashes back to Marena telling him she is pregnant and he tells her someday he might tell her his long, sad story. They shake as she turns and walks away.

The next morning David is in high spirits as he meets up with Leona who thanks him with a kiss and a hug around the neck. He warns her to be careful with Gael. He asks if she still loves Gael but she swears she hates him. Oh dear.

Oliver is having nightmares as Gael reassures him. Outside, Leona leads Gael in a series of exercises which she handles with ease. Gael collapses laughing. He tries to pry her about David but she is tight lipped.

Kika pleads with her father to attend a party, even Ana Ju can go with her. He gives her one condition that he bring her and pick her up which she appears to agree to, kissing and thanking Gael.

We see shiny brown pants on very long legs charging down the hall as Columba has words with Leona. Calixto is lapping all of this up and follows her.

Lola goes good clothes shopping and the prices are a little out of her range. She switches price tags. What a little sneak.

AMOR INVENCIBLE #11 Part 2

Benja, Jacinta and her mother are preparing a dinner when Jeremias shows up to kill the mood. He starts demanding David sign over the apartments to him while David threatens to expose him for falsifying his identity. This is getting ugly and coming to a head.

Leona is wasting her breath trying to talk to Kika. She asks her to confide in her but Kika rejects her stalking away.

AnaJu, Oliver, Ramses and Josefa play cards in the sunshine. You are so intelligent Josefa tells her grandson and Ramses heaps praise on AnaJu.

Night falls and dinner at Consuelo’s is being served. Consuelo gets a text and it appears it is bad news regarding her test results. She is going to need a biopsy.

Kika is out of control at the party. She insists on leaving with her drunk, druggie friend. Ana Ju and Benja are not going to let her ride alone and hop in the back seat.

David is giving Camila an evening therapy session, her leg on his shoulder. He leans over as she puts her arms around his neck. She kisses him and he looks away, not responding. I’m sorry she manages as he disengages her arms. He gently rebukes her as she laments her non-relationship with Calixto. He picks her up like a doll and gently places her on a seat.

Consuelo’s family and Leona envelop her in their loving embrace.

Meanwhile, the car ride home on the highway to hell continues, the car swerving all over the road as we hear Ana Ju’s anxious pleas. Suddenly we see Benja illuminated by a flash of bright headlights as another care is upon them! Simultaneously, Leona gasps as she feels a sharp pain in her chest. We see the car, now flipped over. As the car settles, there is a deadly silence, with none of the four passengers moving…

Diana, this was wonderful!! You missed nothing and drew an amazing portrait despite all the evil, perversion and tragedy.

I’ll be back later…gotta run (errands) 😊

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Thank you so much Rgv Chick!

I couldn't understand much of the dialog but am happy that I (hopefully) didn't misconstrue what I thought I saw.

Sadly, car crashes are starting to be a telenovela staple, one I could certainly do without; especially as it is all the younger people just starting their lives who are the most affected.

Gael is tugging on my heartstrings and now, three of his children (although he doesn't know Benja is his - yet) are involved, traumatized but hopefully not grievously hurt!

And now we must wait til Monday to see the fallout.

Diana

Invencible

Dear Diana, Thank you thank you for the "highlights of all the low lowlights "

I, too, feel for Gael , who has been under demon Ram's thumb his whole life , saddled with Calomba , living with incredibly smarmy Calisto...yuck.

I still don't know what the family's legitimate business is . No avocado portraits anywhere, so I know it isn't avocados . I saw a picture of a mug of beerhanging behind Gael in his office , and I think Gael had Leona tasting two different glasses of beer in a previous episode, so are they beer brewers?

That meeting between surly, mean girl Delores and creepy, smarmy Cal was cringe worthy. Is this how he provides women for Ram's trafficking ? Will Delores end up being trafficked ?

I hated the accident . Now is Leona going to find out who her children are through learning they share her blood type ?

El Amor Invencible

Thanks, Diana, for the great recap!

Pains and Calixto: EWWW! No. Just no.

The whole party idea was a huge mistake. Why would anybody trust Kika? She has proved that she's irresponsible.

David should tell the truth to Leona already. This keeps getting worse.

Thanks again!

Invencible

Thanks, Diana. Riveting recap.

"He asks if she still loves Gael but she swears she hates him. Oh dear."

Yes, it sure seems that hate still allows Leona to harbor love for Gael. She gets butterflies when she's with him. As Mark Twain said, "Denial ain't just a river in Egypt."

Lola is nuts. So she's down with being a sex worker with Calixto. Yuckety yuck yuck.

Wondering why Camila has not thought to divorce Calixto? I'm tired of seeing her be his victim.

All the teens pile into a car with an impaired driver. Every parent's nightmare.

INVENCIBLE

Diana, thanks for the fantastic recap with another great title!

Sorry, but Ana Julia and Benja were just plain old stupid to get into a car with a clearly impaired driver. So, if Kika made a bad decision, was she worth risking their life for? Give me a break!

This would have been better and more modern without the requisite health PSA. Guess I will just have to ignore it.

Leona better watch her back because Columba is still intent on getting rid of her ASAP with Calixto’s help.

Looks like Lola is intent on being a kept woman at her young age. Funny how she didn’t realize that sex was part of the arrangement. Calixto criticizes her “cheap” clothing so she changes price tags on more expensive clothing? Desperate and hare-brained. I don’t know who is worse, she or Kika. They are like two sides of the same coin.

Diana, Gael is turning into a much more sympathetic character than I ever would have imagined while David is becoming so much more annoying for not being honest with Leona.

INVENCIBLE

Errands have been run, so now I'm back...and sitting down :-)

Diana, your comprehension of the dialogue was astounding and spot on! I know you rely much on context clues and visuals, but you really outdid yourself this time; BRAVO!!

Watching Pains and Cal-louse is truly sickening. Lola must have inherited all of Jerm's genes. And Calixto has that sleazy, disgusting look that makes a girl want to cover herself up and then go take a bath...EWWWW!

"We see shiny brown pants on very long legs charging down the hall" Good gawd, when I saw that, all I could think of was how the heck did she get into those pants?! Were they painted on? But I always enjoy watching Colu try to berate Leona....and it just doesn't happen LOL And yes, Jarifa, Leona had better wear a shield on her back.

As everyone, Gael has grown on me...and David has done the opposite.

I agree that David is becoming annoying, but not just because he is keeping the truth from Leona, but because of his dogging Leona for some love and bombarding her constantly about his loyalty and support for her; he really needs to back off. And in regard to his keeping the truth from Leona, I somewhat understand why--Jacinta and Clara keep pressuring him to keep quiet...for the "family's" sake. I'm sure he feels quite indebted to them since they all moved away from Puerto Palma to ensure his safety. Family can be very persuasive, especially when they have given up so much and done so much to keep the family together. Furthermore, David hasn't given up on trying to convince them to tell Leona the truth. And we have to remember that, had it not been for Jacinta, Benja would have died right after birth.

That accident looked deadly...and the car looked like it was heading straight for Benja's door. I know he has to survive, but will he be seriously maimed? We shall find out next week!

INVENCIBLE

Oh, and Susanlynn, yes, the family’s legit business is a beer brewery. As the show started, the family was returning from living overseas… France, I think. Ramses had turned over control of the brewery to Gael.

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Susanlynn, there has been so little focus on what the "legit" family business was, it is as though it is the most minor of plot lines! The little "taste testing" was one of the few clues along with the beer mug picture you noted (very sharp, I didn't see it). You have a very observant eye.

Weirdo, thank you! We are all getting frustrated with David's failure to tell Leona the truth. Time compounds injury. It will be so much worse if he doesn't get to tell her himself too!

Diana

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Niecie, thanks so much!

I so like your description of "butterflies" as that fits Leona's instinctive and immediate reacion whenever she is in Gael's presence.

I never knew where that denial quote came from, now I know it's Mark Twain. Thank you!!

Camila staying married to Calixto defies reason. I wonder if it has to do with Ramses who feels marriage is forever - no divorce, as Gael found out? I feel so sorry for her especially as Calixto is the one who needs to carry her when David isn't there. I don't understand why Ramses didn't hire round the clock folks to care for her??

Diana

INVENCIBLE

RgvChick, so true about David being more than a little intense.

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Jarifa, thank you for your always kind words!

I agree - a very bad decision by the smart kids, especially AnaJu. You can't help anyone with an out of his mind madman at the wheel. You can just become another statistic. That said, I think three of the four passengers will survive. It does not look good for the driver.

Yes, Lola's reaction was puzzling. Did she think she would merely have to pose? I didn't realize Calixto disparaged her clothes, but I'm certainly not surprised! Lola and Kika truly are "two sides of the same coin". Very well put!

Diana

AMOR INVENCIBLE

Thank you for your very kind and generous words Rgv Chick.

Although I didn't comprehend much of the dialogue, I did understand a bit more of what transpired than I usually do, hence the longer notes. I am always so grateful for meaningful pauses, deep, dark, hateful and loving looks! And my is this brimming with them!

"Calixto has that sleazy, disgusting look that makes a girl want to cover herself up and then go take a bath...EWWWW!" had me laughing in delight! Yes, this should be added to his Wiki description :)

I completely agree with your take on David. He is practically begging Leona for her affection which is such a turnoff! David knew the depth of her affection for Gael, did he really think her passion and love would diminish? David's for her certainly didn't. He's too in her face, pushing and pushing.

Benja loves Jacinta and she will always be his mother. His heart is big enough to encompass Leona in the circle of love...The truth will be hard, but I have every faith he can handle it. It needs to come out with the right people telling him the story...

Hypocrisy: Dialogue as Needed Edition
Part 1 of 4

Estela ran into Elsa's room upon hearing her cry out. Elsa described her nightmare and Estela understood how that could happen when this loss was so recent. Elsa wanted to see Andres. Estela wasn't sure that now was the time to tell him but Elsa said that Andres was Eva's father and had the right to know. [Bloody hell, there isn't even a photo of this poor infant.] She cried. Estela told her they would visit him the next day.

Estela returned to the master bedroom; Armando was also awakened by Elsa's cry. She told him what happened. His solution was never to mention Eva's name again “to help her get over it. The more her name is mentioned the more difficult it will be to get over it.” Estela said “A mother never forgets her child. How cold you are. I don't understand how you can think that not talking about problems makes them disappear.” “You have to turn the page to go on.” “Not everything works like that. There are things that remain in the heart until death.”

Elsa looked grim at breakfast the next day but agreed to accompany her younger siblings to school.

Silvia and Lamberto were happy during the honeymoon they should have had years previously.

Elsa went to the school she had previously attended and had the misfortune to run into Guillermina who was her usual prodnose self. She asked Elsa where she had been and Elsa told her she was in the boarding school. Guillermina said “How strange. I spoke to the Mother Superior and she said you did not return. I will have to speak to your father.” “Why are you so interested?” Elsa asked, not masking her irritation. Guillermina leaned in and half-whispered “There is a rumor you were pregnant. Is that true? Where is your baby? Tell me; you can trust me. Is it a boy or a girl?” “You are a hypocrite,” Elsa said, looking her in the eyes. “Do you think I'm an idiot? Thanks to you my father found out I was expecting Andres' child and he sent me away. In case you're interested, it was a girl. She died. And this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't opened your mouth.” “Forgive me,” was the reply [of all the nerve]. “No. I won't forgive you and I never will. You are a malicious woman, Venomous. A jealous, bitter old maid who gets pleasure from hurting other people. Why don't you just tell everyone in town that Elsa Quiroga was pregnant with the child of Andres Martinez and whose father sent her away to Sonora so nobody would know? Go ahead; tell them all that my baby died shortly after birth. You'd like that, wouldn't you? That would make you important, telling that juicy gossip to the whole town. Go ahead, do it. If everyone knows nobody, but nobody would like that.” She walked away, leaving Guillermina in a state of shock.

She ran into Padre Reynaldo who became equally angry upon hearing this. She told him that she had told Guillermina the truth, as she felt she had nothing to hide. She didn't care what people said about her. He looked thoughtful as she went on her way.

Hypocrisy: Dialogue as Needed Edition
Part 2 of 4

Angela tried to seduce Armando on the couch in his office, but he was in no mood for it. Three questions later – which revealed that the town knew more than Armando wanted anyone to – he told her that the baby died. She was shocked and he told her that Elsa gave birth in Demencia's house, like country women do. She ended up in hospital because of the hemorrhage. Angela knew that Armando wasn't sorry about that because this removed an inconvenience for him. He admitted it. Angela then told him that Andres is no longer “Martinez” but “Montero”. Armando was surprised at first but figured it out and Angela told him that Lamberto went to Mexico City with The Servant. She claimed to be happy about this, then tried coming on to Armando again. He put her off again, saying he had too much to do and she was annoyed. She got up, straightened her dress, and told him “You owe me” before leaving his office.

Estela visited Hector and came off as happy to have all her children together again. She asked him how he felt about the same thing, He said “More or less, but...” and told her about the problem.

Rosendo went to Andres to dictate the letter to his brother. Andres encouraged him to write it himself so that his brother would know he can do it.

Padre Reynaldo visited Armando to tell him that someone had to do something about Guillermina. He had tried to do this in the past but it has not been effective. She had the gall to question Elsa about her pregnancy and the baby and 'has no limits” on anything. “You are the only one who can do this. Do it for your daughter. She has suffered too much already because of a lie.” The wheels began turning in Armando's mind.

Hector explained to Estela he was not happy with the situation about Aurora and his two sons. HE said Aurora was just like her mother. He was dreading the day Carlos would find out about this. Horacio did not stay in Mexico City and now Carlos and Aurora went to live with Angela. Estela almost laughed, saying that is a worse punishment than he deserves. That Carlos needed a woman who would truly love him. He seemed to be in love with Aurora, but....”nothing is easy about this.” Irene came in and hugged Estela. Hector would have left them alone in his office but Irene said they would go to hers.

Elsa told Meche about Eva's death and cried. Meche cried with her.

Estela told Irene, describing how difficult it was. Elsa had known and held her baby, Estela also, and she began crying as well. Irene hugged her sister and described how excited and hopeful Elsa was at the ultrasound. Estela described how Elsa is in pain and furious with Armando, “with good reason.” Irene agreed, saying that if Armando hadn't sent her to the mouth of hell this would not have happened. “One more thing Armando is guilty of. When will you start fighting?” “When Estela recovers. I don't want anything else to happen while she is still vulnerable. Getting him out of our lives won't be easy.” “I understand, but what I don't understand is how you can continue live under the same roof with him.” “It won't be much longer, but now what my family needs most is peace.” Irene nodded in agreement.

Hypocrisy: Dialogue as Needed Edition
Part 3 of 4

Elsa and Meche were ending their conversation when Meche got a call from her school. As she ended it Elsa said she had to go and Horacio appeared. He noticed she looked unhappy and said “San Juan is my hell; looks like you feel the same.” She agreed without telling him any details. He said he remembered something she told him “Nothing is forever; all is temporary.” He elaborated a little on this and Elsa took her leave. Meche followed her out.

Armando went to Guillermina's office. She closed the file she was holding and asked him why he was there. “Don't you have your own life?” he asked her. I don't understand.” “The only thing you do is interfere in others'. I will say this once. You bother my daughter or anyone I know...” He grabbed her and whispered into her ear “If you do that again the whole town will know what kind of woman you are.” “Let me go, you're hurting me” she said, trying to free herself. “No, no, no. I am not of your class and that will always be the same. Why do you hate Elsa so much? What do you dream about?” * He touched her ear with his mouth in a creepy way [So quickly she could not have predicted whether it would be a kiss or a bite] before releasing her and walking out. She looked disturbed [which she is anyway.]

Elsa and Meche went into the hotel where Antonia was minding the reservation desk. She left Elsa with Antonia and a new round of tears. They hugged and Elsa went home alone.

Aurora and Carlos ate with Angela who – between sips of red wine – talked about how much she liked having them there. Aurora told her not to fool herself; they were only staying until their house was finished. She then took the wineglass away from her, saying they were also there to help stop her from drinking. Angela protested that this was just an accompaniment to the meal, which Aurora didn't buy. However her phone rang and she got up from the table because it was Horacio. He tried to get her to meet him alone and she refused... more than once during this call. [She should have blocked him long before this.] Carlos got up and approached her, “Everything alright?” he asked. She looked up, pretended to be talking to a woman regarding work or something, Carlos went back to the table and continued eating, asking about the furniture. Angela watched them closely as though looking for an opening.

Elsa cried in her room. Estela came in to check up on her, finally telling her that this will pass little by little. Elsa did not want to eat, but Estela said she must to regain her strength. She also told her she would take her to visit Andres in a few days.

Aurora caught Angela drinking wine after dinner. She was on her way out, saying she was going to visit Elsa. However, Angela grabbed her arm and called her out on where she was really headed; she had correctly suspected that Horacio had called her during dinner. They argued about this again and Aurora walked out. [She is as much in denial about Horacio as Angela is about alcohol.]

Hypocrisy: Dialogue as Needed Edition
Part 4 of 4

Estela told Armando she and Elsa were going the next day to San Miguel for Elsa to see a gynecologist to make sure she is alright. Armando agreed, saying he would tell Adolfo and also have Lily go with them. Estela said that wasn't necessary; she was capable. She wanted to get back to normal. He seemed to cave and then she raised the subject of Lily's employment, saying that they didn't need her anymore now that Flor was back. He told her that she was the mistress of the house and this was her department. She thought for a moment and left him to his work.

Aurora met with Horacio. Same old, same old. He touched her face, saying “Demonstrate that you don't feel anything for me” and she looked like she would...NOT.

Meche and Antonia talked briefly before Meche left. She told Antonia that Andres is strong and the sort of person who overcomes obstacles. She was sure this would get better. “...and since your mother isn't here call me if you need to talk to someone. I know it's not the same but I'm willing to listen.”

Aurora bolted out the door, but Horacio pulled her back. She accused him of being obsessed with her and this was not love, He accused her of marrying Carlos to make him jealous. He managed to kiss her – which she obviously enjoyed too much – and when she broke away she told him that would be the last time. She brought up what this would do to them, saying she had made the decision to marry Carlos, and that this would destroy both their families. “Life is not like in the movies.” He went after her as she reached for her car keys and she told him to leave her alone.

Carlos appeared at or near the end of the block. Aurora told Horacio to let her leave and Carlos came up from behind his brother. Aurora made something up about running into Horacio unexpectedly, but it was not convincing. Neither was Horacio's excuse about investigating the cuisine of the restaurant behind them. Aurora kissed Carlos, saying she will see him at home later. Carlos exchanged a few words with Horacio but looked like he suspected something.

Andres was summoned to the visiting room and was very surprised to see Elsa. They hugged and were separated by the guards. When they sat down he asked about their daughter; he had dreamed about a baby girl. Elsa cried and said she died shortly after birth. “I named her Eva. She was beautiful, I was not there when she died. I needed to see you to tell you how she was. She is an angel now, looking down on us from Heaven.” “Why can't we be happy? Why do we have to go on suffering so much?” She told him she had birth complications, there was a terrible storm, Eva was born in the ranch house, etc. She had held the baby for a moment and then lost consciousness. When she awakened her mother broke the news to her. She continued to cry, as did he, as she told him how much she needed him then. When he touched her face a guard yelled at him that touching was not allowed. She stood up and he told her that he didn't care how much time had to pass, [“Be careful about such statements” is all I can say] “I will always love you.” They kissed and the guards separated them again and dragged hi back to his cell.

Perdona #38

Forgot to pay off the asterisk:

*This looks like a reference to Guillermina's dirty secret which we still don't have the details about. It's about time we do.

The tears are still flowing, I'm afraid.

It's also about time Padre Reynaldo fires Guillermina and gets a secretary he can trust.

Estela doesn't know this yet, but she should be told that Lily was acting as a spy for the padre about Armando. However I don't think there had been much for her to report.

While there is supposed to be a hearing (or whatever} about Andres in now what feels like a week and a half I have a sense of foreboding about that outcome.

Carlos got so close to the truth about Aurora; the writers are teasing us.

Sorry for the typos.

Perdona

Thanks, Urban, great recap. Guillermina was horrid in this episode. I really thought Padre had put a little fear in her when he said Armando was going to make her abort the baby. But I guess not. She was put in her place by Elsa. And for the first time Armando defended Elsa. I bet Guillermina will think twice about gossiping about Elsa.

Carlos needs to find out about his brother and his wife. I feel sorry for Hector, such a great dad. And obviously Horacio lied to his dad about his interest in Aurora. I hope the two of them end up miserable, maybe together!

Andres and Elsa need to get a break soon. Nothing has gone their way. Everyone is shattered by the death of the baby except Armando. He has no heart.

Speaking of no heart, thanks Diana, for your definition of fishwife. I would say that does fit Elena. We were spared her nagging on Friday, what a relief!

I’m sure it hurts Padre to see Elsa so grief stricken. If she turns away from God, or the church, he may have to tell her the truth. I think someone losing their faith under his care would be painful for him.

Liz

PERDONA

Urban,

“Hypocrisy: Dialogue as Needed Edition” was perfect. I found myself reliving every moment of the episode as captured by your riveting recap. Outstanding.

Elsa’s pain and anger was evident in her righteous dressing down of Guillermina but your words added even more fuel to the utter catastrophe caused by the cruelty of Guillermina’s interference. And ignorance.

“His solution was never to mention Eva's name again “to help her get over it”. Armando’s callousness was not surprising but sickening. THEN “He touched her ear with his mouth in a creepy way [So quickly she could not have predicted whether it would be a kiss or a bite] before releasing her and walking out”. There is another sordid story here and I do not look forward to its revelation.

Poor Andres finally learns the truth. Perhaps this was all too much for the both of them as I felt a knot in my stomach as this felt as though they were inadvertently turning away from rather than to each other. I fervently hope I am wrong.

Carlos still doesn’t have a clue?? Aurora is not blameless but Horacio should shoulder the lion’s share of the guilt. Why can’t he leave her alone??

I wish Estela had shared what happened with Hector but I am sure Meche will fill him in. I have the nagging feeling that things might have turned out differently had he known of Elsa’s plight.

Urban I didn’t understand that Lily was a spy, I suspected it but…

Liz, yes, seeing little of Elena Friday night was a small relief, wasn’t it? We should be so lucky every night!

I’m with Irene in that Estela shouldn’t be living under the same room as Armando. How much more will she be forced to endure?

Diana

Perdona #38

I dearly hope Elsa and Andres don't turn away from each other, although the death of a child often does that to couples.

It doesn't look like there is much trouble in the cellblock so Andres should get out of there, but I am not making any wagers on it. But the truth about Angela's and Aurora's lies about Andres must be revealed or this story has no value as a morality tail.

Although Armando doesn't have a clue that Lily was planted in the house by Padre Reynaldo he has his own spies in his chauffeurs.

Two chauffeurs and three maids? I am still mystified that this family only has a large suburban house rather than a mansion. Ditto for the Monteros and the Moraleses.

As for Armando's thing about forgetting, it's he who wants to forget anything that displeases him. He clearly doesn't understand anything about any positive emotions.

PERDONA

Thanks, Urban, for the enjoyable read.

Easy peasy for Padre Reynaldo to sic Armando on Guillermina rather than taking care of shutting her up himself like by firing her.A coward one more time.

Liz, I feel sorry for Héctor, too. He must be so disappointed in Horacio.

Horacio acts like a real jackass or some one that has a psychological problem. Pick one! Nothing positive there.

Horacio won’t take no for an answer? Aurora could end it if she wanted to. Nobody forced her to go meet him. She will get what she deserves when Carlos goes with his suspicions. He isn’t stupid.

Urban, I was disappointed, too, that nobody like Padre Reynaldo, falling short one more time, told Estela that Irene was there to spy.

Diana, ITA about Estela not living in that house but then that would leave her kids alone with Elena and Armando unless she had a place to take them. Irene needs to fire Armando and Estela needs to file for divorce ASAP.

Perdona

Urban, thank you for another detailed recap of all the sordid, dark deeds and the despair they are causing .

Sometimes losing a child pushes a couple apart , but sometimes it pulls them closer together than ever . Soul mates always find their way back to each other .

"Easy peasy for Padre Reynaldo to sic Armando on Guillermina rather than taking care of shutting her up himself like by firing her.A coward one more time".

You nailed it Jarifa.

Perdona #38

I think that Guillermina has been a problem for a long time. It is entirely possible that this time she crossed a really deep line. I guess he never threatened to excommunicate her. Too bad; that would be a glorious public humiliation. In fact, she deserves worse in addition to everything Elsa said to her.

Estela does need to look for a new house but I was thinking about how difficult that would be for her. She would benefit from being far away, but she owns almost half the company. If she were looking in San Juan the gossip would get back to Armando in no time.

Horacio definitely needs a shrink.

PERDONA

Estela could easily hire 24/7 security. Armando would be at a great disadvantage if he had no income.

Perdona #38

Armando probably has off-shore accounts.

What exactly is Leona's job title at the company ? Is she now Gael's personal trainer ? I'm confused. She swims with smitten David during her off yours and then she arrived at the Hightower mansion to work out with Gael. I'll bet Colamba is not going to be happy with that stuff .

Can't wait to see what happens tonight.

Perdona

Terrific job, Urban. Thanks especially for all Elsa's righteous tirade against Guillermina. I enjoyed every single word.

Andres and Elsa were holding each other so tightly before the guards broke them up. I think they will stick together. How crazy that Estella has to make up some ruse about taking Elsa to the gynecologist in order to sneak her away to visit Andres in jail.

"Easy peasy for Padre Reynaldo to sic Armando on Guillermina rather than taking care of shutting her up himself like by firing her. A coward one more time."

Jarifa, you express what I was feeling but couldn't put into words.

Horacio seems crazy and obsessive. What I really hate is him lying to his father that he will leave Aurora alone.

Ugh, seems Guillermina still has the hots for Armando. I don't see her nosing around ending. She's obsessed.

Perdona #38

Guillermina is definitely in need of a good shrink. We know nothing about her family of origin or anything else other than the possibility that Armando knocked her up before he married Estela. She began telling the Padre about it but we didn't hear the whole story. BTW, this was not under the seal of the confessional.

She definitely is obsessed and this is never a good thing.

Horacio is equally obsessed with Aurora and her emotional immaturity is keeping her from dealing appropriately with this. I hope Hector finds a better solution because this could end tragically.

Armando is obsessed with maintaining an image of The Perfect Family to the rest of his world. This has driven him to horrible extremes. We still don't know who molested Elena but remembering what Armando said to Olmos before shooting him dead I took Armando off the suspect list. The look on his face after he talked to Elena in the study told me that he killed that piece of human trash 15 years ago and got away with it. I would give him a pass for that one but he loses half of it for not allowing her to see a shrink over this.

That might be because she saw him do it.
