I put a comment on the previous page a bit late and just wanted to repeat that I will do a recap for tonight's episode sometime tomorrow morning.
Thank you novelera and deb for the previous terrific recaps!
Howdy from the Alamo City folks. Here's a very short mini-recap of last night's episode:
Jarifa, Weirdo, Dondi356, Kirby, Halimacandy, Anon, OSS, VVS, UA, Diana, Novelera, Juanita, RGV Chick, Susanlynn, Vicky, Darcy & Co.,:
*Colon gives an interview with Karla discussing Corina's death. He then received Corina's ashes.
*Aurelio gets pissed off & scolds Colon over the phone. In the meantime, Alfaro & Dahlila watch the interview on the laptop where Alfaro calls Manzano to scold him as the bickering over sovereignty continues.
*Crazy Tracy & Benjamin meet up with Henchie the Freak, who kicks them out of the house LOL. He brings in several group of hitmen as they plot to take down the Casillas family once & for all.
*I see Laura FINALLY returns & has some moment with Ismael, who I thought would stab her in the gut LOL.
*SuperJavi & Ritula have sex again LOL. These two have too much time on their hands.
*Over at Tata's club in Tijuana: Ismael, Laura, SuperJavi, Isturiz, Grenas, Ritula, Skinny, Aurelio & Co., show up. We also see Felina with the transgered kid & Felina's Bodyguard Dude in attendance. Sounds like an attack is coming for the Casillas family very soon.

Belated thanks for the very helpful account you posted about the mysterious "Cara Sucia."

#35 part 1 of 3 (some scenes are combined for clarity and recapping ease)
There is an extended, snarky back and forth between DAMA and Cami. Both get some pretty good low blows in. Cami tries to focus on how DAMA’s deceptive ways have hurt so many people, especially Cesar and Noelia. DAMA claims her family is the only thing she cares about and Renata will make sure Cami and Cesar are never happy. Just look at her and FJ, Renata moved heaven and earth to keep them apart.
Adriana tells Cami to leave Cesar alone and use her family’s influences to keep him out of jail. Cami flashes back to the convo with Renata telling her she would save Cesar from prison if Cami ditched him forever. Cami presses DAMA to reveal who really shot Estela. DAMA claims that Estela became obsessed with her and started investigating her.
Estela found out that DAMA was married and confronted her in the office. We see a flashback on the security camera of Estela slapping DAMA in anger. Estela apparently did see a man roughing up DAMA at some point and assumed it was her husband. DAMA clarifies to Cami that this person was not Cesar and is very dangerous and Cami knowing this will only make him more dangerous and put Cesar and Noelia in more danger. (WTH?) She again tells Cami to use her family influences to help Cesar.
Escobar interrupts the discussion, happy to see Mariana back. Like water, DAMA smoothly transitions to the Mariana personality and charms him and Ines on the way out the door. Her final advice to Ines is to stop pretending she doesn’t like Tomas, jump his bones and have a baby for him the old-fashioned way.
At Casa Cesar, there is another snarky back and forth going on between FJ and Cesar. FJ just wants to speak briefly to DAMA to get some answers, he was going to pay $5 million to rescue her after all. Cesar says that no one in his family is going to play secretary for FJ and he should just head back to his heroine wife (currently in bed with Chuy). Noelia hears part of the conversation and thinks that FJ might be able to keep Adriana from leaving again.
Cesar and Elvira give her the same old line of her mother will always think about her regardless of where she is. Noelia wants a mother like her friend Gaby. A mother who cooks delicious things for her, takes care of her when she is sick or falls. Cesar tells her they cannot choose who their parents are. Noelia is having none of it as she accuses Cesar of just wanting to be with Cami, tosses down a family picture and storms out of the room.
Chuy and Ale cuddle after the afternoon romp. Chuy still does not want to be second fiddle and she now claims that is not the case because she loves him and wants to be with him. He wants a house on the beach a lovely woman who doesn’t want the spotlight and a beautiful garden. There is more blah, blah of the same. It does get exciting when Olga starts knocking on the door that for a change is locked. She tells Chuy through the door that Renata is looking for him.
Renata shows up in the servants quarters still puzzled why Alejandra’s car is in the driveway but she is nowhere to be found. Renata calls Ale’s phone as she walks away. Olga hears the phone ringing in Chuy’s bedroom and starts pounding the door even harder calling Ale a shameless slut under her breath.
Episode #35 part 2 of 3
Elvis shows up at the Zoo to see Renata. He is wearing a sports coat and a name badge! He does not have good news. First of all, Renata has not completed her part of the bargain but secondly, after reviewing Adriana’s phone, he has found some very intimate voicemails from Pasqual to Adriana. Renata plays it off well saying she knew about her husband’s indiscretion(s) and asks him to keep it private. He of course has a USB copy of these voicemails to give her. It is going to be hard to get Cesar in jail as Adriana and Ale are defending him especially in front of the prensa. Elvis, ever the gum chewer, passes the USB over to Renata as she passes over a $10,000 band of $100 bills.
Eva brings the newspaper to Pasqual so he has and update on “Kevin.” He tells her he made ‘the mistake of his life” ever meeting Adriana. Eva made the mistake of her life allying herself with Renata.
Somewhere near the railroad tracks, DAMA meets up with Ale. She demands that Ale hold up her end of the bargain and get her out of the country ASAP. She only has a few hours before DAMA goes to the press and tells them everything. Ale hands her a package of cash and tells her she is working on it but it is difficult as DAMA is key to several cases right now. Get it done, demands DAMA or you lose your elections and your husband!
FJ goes to see Pasqual. He needs to see Adriana. His heart won’t listen to his head. (Major eyeroll here). Pasqual tells FJ he is sorry. For a second we think he might confess, but no, he is sorry for making FJ marry Ale. Now both of them are married and miserable, wishing they were in the arms of the woman they really love.
Cami ignores a call from Cesar. She tells Ines that she has to distance herself from him and Noelia. Adriana was right, Renata has to help Cesar or else she will ensure Cami and he are never happy.
Cesar is leaving Cami a voicemail declaring his love when a rock shatters the living room window. The rock is covered with the picture of that seaside mansion, and it is says “You are dead, Siren.” Cesar immediately connects the photo with Cara Sucia.
DAMA shows back up in “hell,” the strip club. She immediately puts on her Diana de Nadie personality with Pluto. He and the guard are having none of it as the guard puts a gun to her head and Pluto demands the money she owes him. DAMA disarms the guard (this guy needs to be fired) and she demands that Pluto help her get a passport. Pluto says that no one in the country will believe her anymore. She is a traitor to those who care about her and love her. He is not going to believe anything she says. The guard re-acquires the gun from her and she bargains for her life claiming to know someone very powerful, with many contacts, who can remove all the legal issues in Pluto’s record.
Renata listens to the voicemail messages Pasqual left for DAMA on her cell phone. He starts all the messages calling her “Siren.” The messages clearly affect Renata and she says out loud that she hates Adriana Molina more than anyone. (Is it possible that Pasqual is Cara Sucia and the powerful person DAMA told Pluto about?).
Episode #35 part 3 of 3
Olga scolds Chuy for betraying FJ with Ale. She is embarrassed by his behavior.
Ines meets with Tomas and tells him that Adriana is not going to visit him as she is certain Renata will kill her if she crosses the threshold of the house. Ines tries to persuade Tomas to follow his dream to be a dad. He says he is not going to do that. Ines listens to DAMA’s voice in her head and she pounces on Tomas to kiss him. He is stunned and reminds her that they are only friends. Even if he wanted to, he cannot be with a woman. (Aren’t there shrinks for stuff like that?). Ines leaves saying she is sorry.
Cami thinks back to her conversation with DAMA. Ray interrupts her thoughts by bringing her lunch. Cami wants him to tell her everything about Tomas’ case and how Cesar might be affected. Ray says it does not look good for Cesar as there is proof that he killed Estela.
Adriana is back at Cesar’s and she tries to seduce him as he showers. To his credit he holds strong, refusing her advances. Instead, he shows her the rock and note sent by Cara Sucia. Adriana is upset and tells him that this is a warning. He has to help her leave the country or everyone in the house is at risk.
Detective Marquez and GumChew have the rock and picture but Adriana is little help in giving them information. When the police leave, Adriana tells Cesar that this is bigger and more dangerous than anyone can imagine. She has had ghosts surrounding her all her life. She tells him that she has to leave and never return.
Cami arrives home and tells Renata that she accepts her offer. Save Cesar from prison and Cami will never see him again. The episode ends with Renata’s triumphant, smug look as she takes a sip of her whiskey.
VVS, thank you for that excellent recap that delivered every detail.
Well, she's back and the actress playing DAMA is chewing up the scenery . That scene at the club made me giggle with the gun going back and forth.
I think Pasqual is too old to have been in the orphanage with DAMA . Cara Sucio seems to be about the same age as DAMA according to the flashback.
Renata's reaction to the recordings Elvis brought her appear to have really hurt her, so I guess she really loved Pasqual.
Olga knocking on Chuy's bedroom door while he cuddled with Ale was funny . They were like two teens caught by mama. Olga was not giving up Chuy!!!!
DAMA has a lot of nerve trying to seduce Cesar after everything he has discovered about her and the danger she has put her family through. DAMA is toxic.
excellent recap VVS !!! it's amazing all the little detail you bring out!
for a moment I flashed on Pascual being the one Estela mistook for Mariana's husband, the possible shooter, but is he really that dangerous? I have ruled him out as Cara for the time being.
yes, I too was amazed that Chuy's door was locked.
and we still don't know what Pluto's story is.
I'm fascinated watching Adriana, she may be whacko but she is fast on her feet and can make things happen. Her past highlights that she was never loved, and her present shows she craves the lime light even though hiding in the shadows, as she had a tinge of jealousy when FJ got married. I'm wondering if her coolness toward Cesar and Noelia belies a strong connection to them. True, she needs to get out of Dodge as the Rocio record keeps saying, but that strongly suggests another reason.
and then there is the lawyer Raimundo...
Wonderful recap, VVS. I love your writing style and your asides!
It was poignant when Noelia talked about wanting a mother like Gaby’s, even if sugar was prohibited except for special occasions. But she still needs a “time out” for some of her tantrums.
I enjoyed the stricken face on Alejandra when Chuy told her he wasn’t going to be her “boy toy” forever and that he’d soon look for a woman to be with in a little house by the sea. [Chuy better get back to night school because California houses by the sea are upwards of $5 million.]
That was an interesting conversation with Pascual and Eva. He was taunting her that, if she’d stayed on his side and got rid of Renata, she’d be his wife and living with him in the mansion. On some level I believe him. Eva is infinitely preferable to Sourpuss Renata, even though he’d probably end up cheating on her as well.
The passport thing is interesting. DAMA is trying to get one. You’d think she’d have one at the house she shared with César and would have pocketed it. Unless she needs one in a false name to evade the “powerful guy”.
I also thought Pascual might be on the verge of confessing his relationship with Mariana to FJ.
I really enjoyed that Argentinian accent coming back in the scene with Pluto, complete with using the voseo verb forms. My Spanish class is reading a classic novel by Mario Benedetti, an Uruguayan, and the characters use this with family members. The book is entitled La Tregua (the truce). That accent is one of the things that had me leaning toward multiple personalities early on.
Other than the age issue, Pascual could be a candidate for Cara Sucia. There have been hints that he had no money of his own and may have married Renata for hers. What’s really fascinating, and sort of incriminating, is the word Sirena on the note attached to the rock, and that he addressed her that way on the recordings off DAMA’s phone. Is she now DAMAS?
Olga does the cliché servant over and over. She’s so loyal to the rich folks that she castigates her own son for betraying FJ.
Susanlynn, ITA about Maria Elisa Camargo really chewing up the scenery last night. I am enjoying her performance. She’s mostly tough, but sometimes we see the damaged child in there as well.
Deb, I don’t think Raimundo is Cara Sucia because he’s seemed to come from a well-off family. But he’s definitely shady.
Thanks all for taking the time to offer your terrific insights, comments and fill ins of what I missed!
Susanlynn, I giggled a bit too with Olga pounding on Chuy’s bedroom door. She was not giving up. The actor playing DAMA is definitely “chewing up the scenery” and very smooth in her personality transitions. There is definitely something going on with Pasqual and DAMA. He may not be Cara Sucia but I think there is a connection somehow.
You might be on to something deb thinking that Pasqual might have been the one roughing up DAMA. We did see him get very physical with Renata once. He may not be Cara Sucia but he is involved somehow. Remember how he called FJ the night Jacinta was killed saying he did something terrible? Hmmm.
I always enjoy when you share the books you are reading novelera. DAMAS is going to be Adriana’s new acronym as we add Sirena to the mix. I think your take on the Noelia comments regarding the lack of motherly love is spot on. I can handle all of her mom comments but not fond of the tantrums.
Thanks VERY much, VVS, for this superb recap. As others have already noted, your spotting of significant details is very impressive.
I thought/hoped for a minute that Renata would catch Chuy and Ale. I'm really losing patience with Chuy, though last night he did seem a tad more sensible in terms of how he saw his relationship with Ale and the very different sort of woman that he really wanted.
I was surprised, VVS, that you apparently recognized the size of the wad of cash Renata gave GumChew. Are you in the habit of receiving such $10,000 wads? Or perhaps giving them to others? (If so, where do I get in line? :-) )
Thanks, VVS, for pointing out that Pacual started all his messages to Adriana by calling her "Siren." I missed that. It does seem to suggest that he may be more involved in the plot (including the rock thrown through César's window) than I had thought. Then again, we're not even at the half-way point in the 80-episode novela, so my guess is that his use of "Siren" may turn out to be a red herring.
I'm probably a naive romantic, but I really had/have hopes that Ines may be what Tomás needs to give him a different feeling about women and sex. And yes, in answer to your question, I am under the impression that shrinks can sometimes help with such matters.
What is Ray referring to when he says there is "proof" that César killed Estela??
Like novelera, I've become unhappy with Olga's repeatedly being the cliché servant. ¡Ya basta! Olga.
Haha Juanita! The wad of cash was labeled $10,000. I wish I received or even handed out that amount of money.
The more I thought about it today I think you are correct that the Sirena name Pasqual used is a red herring to make us believe he is Cara Sucia.
I have no idea what Ray was referring to regarding the evidence proving Cesar killed Estela. I also have no idea how DAMAS actually got away from Pluto before showing back in to seduce Cesar. Did Pluto buy her “I know friends in high places” line?
Thanks so much, VVS, for the terrific recap!
Juanita, I'm also losing patience with Chuy. I noticed in the previous recaps that he said he has FJ as a brother. Huh. Nice way to treat him.
I have a theory about Chuy, FJ and Olga: Olga had once said that she can't leave the house because she can't leave her son behind or something. I was already suspecting this and I'll say it again: what if FJ is Olga's son too? If that's true, she probably freaked out when she realised that Chuy and FJ are both with Ale.
I also don't think Pasqual can be Cara Sucia. Probably the "Siren" part was a red herring. GumChew is my main suspicion.
Both Ray and Pasqual are fishy.
And of course, the "the protagonists must be separated until the last three episodes" cliché. Ugh.
Weirdo, a couple of us on the patio have also speculated that Olga is somehow connected by more than loyalty to the Del Rio family and that perhaps FJ is her son because of how she treats him and seems to favor him over Chuy, her own son. We have a lot of things slow cooking in our theory crockpot.
Dondi356, Kirby, Anon, Weirdo, Juanita, RGV Chick, Darcy, UA, OS, VVS, Jarifa, Halimacandy & Co.,: Howdy from the Alamo City folks. Here's a very short mini-recap of last night's episode.
*Creepy Aguirre breaks a small glass with his left hand, which causes him to bleed. YIKES: he didn't like that Ritula blew him off LOL.
*Colon brings Corina's ashes to DEA Mexico HQ & places them on the table in front of Manzano & Castillo. They're looking at him like 🤔
*Mecha speaks with Aurelio over the phone: Fast Forward!
*Historian Said shows Aurelio & Co., pictures of some of their descendants from the Old Days. They're impressed.
*Said's nagging mother nagging & I see lots of books WOW!
*Over at Tata's nightclub in Tijuana: Henchie kills the Snitch by stabbing him in the gut. Previews for Monday night show him gunning down Tata & an all-out shooting occurs.
