#71 – Padre e Hijo – Parte 1 de 3

Chuy tells Pascual that the hotel where he’s been staying has an arrangement with JetAir. And he also says that Renata sent him to help Pascual escape. He goes on to say that he came in a JetAir plane. César is standing right there for this. Pascual is delighted and asks César to hurry to get his things from his hotel room. [This is why César and Pascual came from César’s more modest hotel. And, of course, it’s Chuy’s luck and TN coincidences they arrive at the same time.]

Chuy says that it’s better if César takes Pascual’s things to his (Chuy’s) room. They’ll spend the night here and then leave tomorrow. César doesn’t think this is a good plan. He himself tried to run and it made things worse. Pascual effusively thanks César for his help and hugs him.

We get a long boo hoo scene with Olga where she tells Cami, FJ, Tomás and Valeria that she thought it best to keep quiet about who were Chuy’s parents. FJ asks how long Chuy has known, and Cami replies that it’s been a short period of time. This is why Renata has given him all these privileges. Tomás says that, of course, this is how Renata shut him up. [How did Renata and Pascual manage to produce three children who think it’s a shame that Chuy was a gardener in their home. Oh, right. Olga raised them.] Olga insists that Chuy is her child.

Chuy listens to César talking to Noelia on his cell. César, for some reason, packs Pascual’s suitcase and gives it to Chuy. César tells Chuy he could end up being an accomplice and face charges. Chuy seems to sort of still like César. He sort of slips up and says that Camila is a better partner for César (than Adriana, and how would he know that?).

Renata is confronted by her whole family. Valeria tells her she’s getting a lawyer about all the money that Chuy didn’t get to share. She says that Renata raised her son as a servant. Once more we note the night that the writers went on a bender and wrote that Valeria was told her baby died after birth. Now the script calls for Renata to snark that Valeria never tried to find her child. Renata calls her an alcoholic drug addict. She helped Chuy have a better mother. Valerie responds that, yes, Olga raised Chuy, but she also raised Renata’s children!

Renata goes on a rant that she’s a bad mother, a bad sister, a bad daughter. She says that she did it for the good of the family. Her husband killed his lover, left the body as a souvenir in her garden, her daughter in law was murdered, her children abandoned her, and her sister blames her for the errors of her youth. To top it off, they threw her out of HER company.

Chuy comes to, I think, his room and puts up a “do not disturb” sign on the door. [He doesn’t miss a trick, does he?] He’s brought the brand of whiskey that Pascual likes. He doesn’t answer Pascual’s questions about the escape plan Renata supposedly arranged. We see Chuy putting something in the drink. Then he tells Pascual that Renata is planning a flight for them to McAllen, Texas. From there they’ll cross into Mexico by car.

Chuy glories in being in the same five-star hotel where the Del Rio family used to say on vacation. He sits down and tells Pascual that he’s his father, the child he had with Valeria. Pascual laughs. “How could I be your father?” Chuy replies that, considering the number of women he’s bedded, Pascual could have kids all over the place.

#71 – Padre e Hijo – Parte 2 de 3

Chuy offers to take the place of FJ and listen to Pascual’s stories of conquest. We see a flashback of young Chuy being bribed to keep his mouth shut about Pascual’s female guest, one he calls a “niece”. Chuy then plays a voice mail where Tomás has called and mentioned his being the son of Valerie. Pascual downs the whole glass of drugged whiskey.

FJ asks Renata about her having been booted from JetAir. She says it’s because of the scandal about Pascual having killed Eva. Still attending her pity party, she says that Pascual was unfaithful from the beginning, but at least he gave her the children. FJ takes her hand off his arm and tells her he doubts they’ll reconcile. The damage done by her and by Pascual is not repairable.

Pascual is panting, saying he had no idea about Chuy being his son. Chuy tells him that Renata didn’t want him to know. Pascual passes out. Chuy says Pascual is going to help him find Adriana. And then the two of them are going straight to hell.

César comes home. He doesn’t’ expect Cami to be there and is more than happy to see her. He goes to kiss Noelia good night. She wakes up and asks about her auntie.

Valeria and Olga talk in the kitchen. Olga says that one needs to learn about Chuy’s silences. He never knew how to speak about his sorrows or his joys. ”Es como un almeja.” (He’s like a clam.) “The more hurt he is and one wants him to open up, the farther inside he goes. When the kids at school made him cry, he came home and hid in los matorrales (bushes) in the garden. He’d stay there for hours.” Valeria says that Olga will always be his mother. She’d settle now for his forgiving her.

Cami tells César that she’s been reviewing the shooting at the amusement park. “If she’s alive, and my father didn’t do it, then where did the gun, the bloodstained t-shirt, and the ticket to the park come from? Who planted them?” She asks how her father seemed. César told him to give himself up, but he was going to leave with Chuy. Cami: “Chuy? Chuy is in Miami?” César replies that he said your mother sent him. “I thought you knew.” She says she knew Chuy asked for the use of a plane, but she had no idea where he’d gone.

Cami picks up her phone to call Chuy. In Miami Chuy chortles about all the calls he’s getting. If FJ only knew he’s not only his cousin but his half-brother! Pascual almost wakes up. Chuy asks for Pascual’s contrasena (password) so Renata can send them something. Pascual is barely functioning. He manages to say Adriana 2021. Chuy: “Of course! The year you met!”

The next day FJ comes to JetAir and insists on a special meeting of the Board of Directors.

Noelia jumps into César’s bed, boiling over with questions. [I remember those days!] She wants to know all about Mariana’s family. There’s a note from Cami saying she couldn’t sleep and has gone to investigate.

Pascual sits up groaning. Chuy hints he tied one on the night before and offers him some pills for the hangover. Chuy goes to a chair behind the sofa and is looking at Pascual’s tablet. It looks to me like Pascual spills the pills and just drinks the water.

Pascual asks Chuy: “¿Qué chupamos?” [What were we drinking (sucking on)?] Chuy tells Pascual that Pascual asked him to read his emails. One has come from William Stanford. It says: the JetAir Company insists we return the $2 million invested with us. We need to meet urgently. [Guess this is the $$ Pascual talked about investing with Adriana, thinking they’d take off with it together.]

Pascual wants to look at his tablet and then to speak with Renata. Chuy grabs his phone and tells him no. One false move and he (Chuy) will get locked up. He tells Pascual that he already responded to William Stanford. “Send me the address, and I will send my personal assistant to explain this. I want Mariana Stanford to receive him.” William responds that it’s better to meet in their house and sends the address!

Cami has come to the Zoo. She asks Renata what happened to those things found in his closet that supposedly proved her father was the killer at the amusement park. Renata replies that she gave them to Chuy. She also says that she threw out Pascual’s clothes. Cami echoes Viewerville’s thoughts: “Chuy, Chuy! Everything is Chuy now!” Cami remembers when Chuy asked for a tie to wear to an interview and she went to her parents’ room, only to find the “evidence”. Cami begs her mother to tell the truth. “Did you send Chuy to Miami to help my father?”

Renata says she didn’t even know Pascual was in Miami. Cami tells her that Chuy arrived in Miami and told Pascual that she (Renata) had sent him. When Renata insists she didn’t know where Chuy was headed in the plane, Cami begins to have an awful suspicion.

FJ and Tomás meet with the JetAir Board of Directors and say that they have the majority of shares. And that a 2/3 of voting shares is required to remove any executive. A board member says that the company has had problems for years, and that Renata did some unethical things. The same guy tells Tomás that Pascual took $2 million to invest in Stanford and Stanford, a company with a reputation for money laundering. FJ: “Then my father was with Mariana!” The board wants the money back or they’ll send some lawyers.

Chuy has on one of Pascual’s suits. He admires himself, saying that they have la misma porte (the same bearing, demeanor). He tells the unconscious Pascual not to open the door. But at the sound of the door shutting, Pascual wakes up yelling for Chuy. He appears to have a horrible headache.

FJ and Tomás talk. So…their father goes to Mariana after Adriana died? FJ tells his brother that he was “with” Mariana. Tomás responds to this by reminding his brother that he did the same thing as his father.

Berenice (the witness who got César off for murdering “his wife”) has come to the Foundation. Cami asks her if the detective who came to the park was this person. She shows her a photo of Chuy on her phone. Bingo! Cami: “Then Chuy is Cara Sucia!”

Cami calls César asking him for Mariana’s cell number. She doesn’t explain, saying she’s in a hurry. It goes to voice mail. Cami leaves a message addressing her as Adriana, saying it’s life or death.

Chuy strolls past reception at the hotel and some guys in uniform are asking about Pascual. The woman at reception says he left yesterday.

Valeria tells Renata that she spoke to a lawyer who said that Renata kidnapped her child and that she’s going to pay.

Miguel tells César that, as I suspected, the wood furniture business is in the toilet. FJ arrives and asks César if Adriana is the woman in Miami. “She’s alive!”

Adriana returns Cami’s call. She says that no one can know the truth. Cami replies that Chuy knows. She tells Adriana to run; he’s after her. [But she doesn’t tell her, at least not tonight, that Chuy is in Miami.] Hopefully that will happen. As I’ve said, I want Adriana to survive and have some happiness.

Secrets #25 part 1

Eren enters Ozlem’s house and finds hysterical Tugce and unconscious Ozlem.

IlCey get Elif to the hospital. Ceylin hands over the IV bag for analysis, saying the DA gave it to her.

Metin gets the update on Zafer’s case from Fikrit. Zafer cashed in some gold. No clues from the car, it was wiped clean. Fikrit says that Ilgaz has a big interest in this case. And Gul is at the station and says she won’t leave until Zafer is found.

Metin calls Merdan. He wants to know where Zafer was buried. Merdan puts him off. What’s it to you? Metin says these people need a funeral and a grave. How much more will they suffer? When will we stop sinning? They should at least have a grave where they can pray.

Merdan says to forget it. Should they pray for their dead at a grave while yours pray in front of the prison? If you make mistakes, you will be caught. Besides, I buried him in an unmarked grave with the gun, I read the prayer (Al-Fatiha). Metin says they’ll talk when he gets home.

Merdan makes a call to a henchie. He’s ticked they haven’t found the body yet.

We see people walking their dog through the woods. It sniffs at a patch of ground. The owners call him away.

Merdan shows up at the glassware store. He tells Serdar that the family will look out for Cinar from now on. He questions the very nervous Serdar. Tell me about yourself so I can get to know you.

Yekta visits Engin. To what do I owe this honor, Engin asks, do you miss your son? Yekta questions, how did you do all of this? Engin laughs—you’re curious, right? Yes. He says Engin even managed to corner the DA.

You’re wondering how your stupid son pulled it off, Engin replies. Not at all, Yetka responds, I knew how smart you were since you were a child. I’m just annoyed because you won’t use that brilliant brain because you are a coward. You’re too modest. But you’re my son and of course you are smart.

Yekta admits he’s impressed. Engin thought of every detail. Bravo! You brought us all down! He asks, have you thought about the end game? Pars and I are cornered… if we are the only ones, that is. Engin says there’s a long list. Ah, a long list of enemies, Yekta replies with interest. Not enemies, Engin answers, I’d call them victims.

Don’t you think one of those victims will be the one you need to save your life, Yekta asks, how will you get away with this? Engin doesn’t care. This is his world now. I don’t have a life, he says, I have no dreams, no hopes. You could if you wanted, Yekta teases, I can get you out of here. And without a trial or acquittal. What do you say?
Engin replies, thank God someone finally figured it out. I always said my father was the bravest man on Earth. Engin stands up, do it, and we’ll go from there. Be quick.

IlCey wait. Ceylin wonders how someone could do this to their child. Ceylin gets a call from the hospital about the case. She’ll call back later. Ilgaz tells her to add the power of attorney to their file. He says, you deserve it. I’ll recuse myself. Pars or another DA will handle it. We saved that girl thanks to you.

Merdan has tea with Serdar and that guy from the store whose name I don’t know. He expects to keep in touch with Serdar since he’s Cinar’s good friend. With a hand on Serdar’s shoulder he says, you care about him. You never sold him out. Serdar looks like he swallowed a dumpling. Merdan continues, keep an eye on Cinar. Follow him. I’ll believe your good intentions, your friendship. As you wish, Serdar replies. Merdan leaves.

 

secrets #25 part 2

Glassware guy asks Serdar, is that Cinar’s grandpa? What’s he doing here? [From the Turkish] This is your problem. What if he finds out what we did? That you were the master of betrayal. Serdar answers, we got that money from the job we did together. We spent it together, too. Glassware guy threatens to go after Serdar’s family if this blows up.

Aylin and Osman come home in a panic. Parla is missing, she doesn’t answer her phone. Gul says to check upstairs. Her door is locked. Osman busts it open, and they find Parla unconscious on her bed.

IlCey get the word that Elif will be okay. The IV contained decalcification agents and cleaning products. Ilgaz says he will have a judge arraign and arrest Meltem. IlCey set off to tell Elif’s father.

Cinar finds Serdar waiting for him. I thought you said not to call, but you’re here. Serdar blames it on Cinar’s grumpy grandpa. He asks Cinar to get in his car to talk. Serdar mentions the passport. He’s got a guy. We’ll give him the money…. Cinar interrupts, what money? Merdan figured it out! There’s no money. It’s over!

Serdar says he’ll help. Just tell me what’s bothering you. Why do you want to go abroad? And if I don’t, Cinar asks? Serdar says, ok,forget about the passport. Cinar has heard enough. He makes Serdar pull over and he gets out. You and your conditions can go to hell, he says.

Ilgaz offers to drive Ceylin. She wants to go to the station to see if there’s any word about her father. Then she’ll go to the hospital to tell them I’ll be representing them. She looks at her phone, two hours left, she says, I wonder where I’ll be when the bomb goes off. I can be with you, if you want, Ilgaz says. Don’t push your luck, she replies and bids him goodbye.

Ceylin starts walking and gets a call from Gul. Parla tried to kill herself. Ceylin runs to Ilgaz and hops in his car.

Pars gets a call that Neva won’t open the door or answer her phone. He bolts from his desk.

Tugce and Eren wait at the hospital. She asks him how he knows her mother. My father saw you together at a café. He beat her because of you. If I knew this would happen, I wouldn’t have asked for your help. Tugce demands to know. She shouts, why did you meet with a married woman? What kind of idiot are you?! My mother is dying because of you! If anything happens to her, you’ll have to deal with me! I’ll make your life hell! [did Tugce give us a spoiler?]

Cinar catches up to his grandpa. Please help me! I’m done! I’ll tell you. Merdan calms him down. We can figure it out. Let’s go for a walk.

Parla is getting her stomach pumped. Aylin tells Ceylin that Parla took a lot of pills. She wanted to die. Aylin has the note Parla received about doping. Ceylin reads it and brings it to Ilgaz. She thinks about what Engin told her and realizes this is his work.

Engin calls Ceylin to talk about Parla. He rubs it in. If you don’t want it to get worse, do what I instructed you to do. Give Parla a kiss from me. He hangs up. Ilgaz asks, what did he say? Ceylin doesn’t answer and starts walking. He follows her. Where are you going? I’ll go with you.

Engin gets his books. One of them is Sahver’s book. The first page is torn out. Series of flashbacks: Sahver giving Ilgaz signed copies for him and for Ceylin. Then we see Ceylin taking the book from Ilgaz and putting it in her bag. We see Pars getting the book for himself. We see Merdan showing up at the book signing. Lacin bringing a signed copy to Yekta. We see Eren with a copy of the book. And Seda’s meet up with Sahver. She likes the title of the book “Guilt and the Benefit of Doubt.” End flashes. Engin reads the book.

 

secrets #25 part 3

Ceylin is in a taxi, I guess she didn’t want Ilgaz tagging along. She gets a call from Cuneyt. He tells her that Seda is at the Grand Hotel in Beylerbeyi. He warns her not to do anything stupid. [he knows her well.] She hangs up on him.

Ilgaz calls Ceylin. [her phone says “savcı” – prosecutor, not Ilgaz.] She shuts off her phone. He leaves a message: where are you? Are you going to the prison? What are you planning? Call me immediately.

Pars comes home. He calls for Neva. She’s not there. We see her at the prison. She flashes her credentials and asks to see Engin. A guard goes to bring Engin to the visitation room and finds Engin unconscious on his bed.

An ambulance arrives at the prison and Neva sees Engin being loaded in. She inquires. Is he alive? For now. She wants to go in the ambulance. She’s told no, but someone else says she’s a judge and allows it. Ilgaz has pulled up to prison and sees this from a distance.

Ilgaz asks if Ceylin has come to the prison. No. The warden tells Ilgaz that Engin was taken by ambulance. They don’t know what happened.

Ceylin shows up at Seda’s hotel and asks to see her. Call her and tell her Ceylin Erguvan is looking for her. It’s urgent.

What do you know? The clerk calls and we see Merdan, with a crew, searching Seda’s room. No answer on Seda’s phone and Ceylin asks if Seda could be anywhere else in the hotel. The clerk looks for her room key. She must have left without leaving it at the desk.

Merdan’s guy finds a flash drive. It’s Cinar and Zafer on the bus. Merdan orders it be taken. No one else can see it. They find Engin’s paperwork detailing all his “victims”. Merdan thumbs through it. Take these, too. There’s also a picture of a little girl. [No idea who she is. A relation to Seda?]

Outside the hotel, Ceylin comes face to face with Seda. She has no time to talk. Something happened to Engin. Seda gets the call that he was taken to the hospital. Seda gets in her car and Ceylin jumps in. Seda’s not happy about that, but Ceylin tells her to drive. Merdan spots the ladies. He gives the order to follow them.

Ilgaz looks over Engin’s cell. No obvious signs [no baklava]. Ilgaz wants the cell sealed until they know what happened.

Pars calls Neva. She tells him Engin is dying, it could be a heart attack. Pars doesn’t understand. Are you with Engin? She tells him she went to the prison to see Engin. He’s upset she went. She hangs up.

Ilgaz wants a list of guards, staff and people who were at the prison around the time Engin was discovered. The DA office will request an investigation. Ilgaz asks which hospital was Engin taken to. Ilgaz asks the guard about Neva’s visit. He says she was there to see Engin but never got the chance, but she went in the ambulance with him.

Yekta gets the call about Engin. He seems truly shocked. You’re lying, he says, I just saw him today. He asks for details and blows up when he’s told there aren’t any. Yekta calls Lacin with the news.

Ilgaz leaves a message for Ceylin about Engin. He has a bad feeling about this and is on his way to the hospital. I think he’s a little ticked she’s not answering his messages.
Eren goes to the phone store and asks for Fatih. [I didn’t make this connection earlier that Fatih was the one who dealt with Cinar’s second hand phone. Hmm…] The clerk says Fatih didn’t come in. He adds that Fatih sometimes leaves for months at a time. He has no idea where Fatih could be. Eren grabs him by the ear. I don’t believe you! The clerk spills—he’s with Merol, the aquarium store owner, on Bingol St.

Engin is rushed into the hospital. Seda and Ceylin show up. Aunt Lawyer Seda inquires. No info yet, the ladies sit and wait. Ceylin asks Seda, are you scared something will happen to Engin? You don’t know how you are ruining the lives of the people you are threatening.

 

secrets #25 part 4

Seda thinks Ceylin is rude. Engin’s life is what matters now. Have you no mercy? Ceylin replies, none at all. He hurt me so much, that I’ll show no mercy. You can’t expect me to pray for my sister’s killer. I’m not that good. If you were given the sad news right now, I’d feel relieved, like a weight was lifted. Seda answers, that’s inhumane. Wishing that someone dies is despicable. Ceylin pulls Seda out of her seat. I’ll show you inhumane. Come.

Merdan sends his man into the hospital to find out what’s going on.

Cinar calls Grandpa Merdan. What did you do, Grandpa? It’s almost 6. Merdan calmly answers, a promise is a promise. We don’t know each other well yet, but you will learn to trust me. If Merdan Kaya says he will do something, he will. Don’t worry. Have your aunt make you soup.

Merdan spots Ilgaz arriving at the hospital.

Ceylin brings Seda to Parla in the ICU. She’s just 15. Her aunt was recently found dead. They were close. Her grandfather is missing, too. Swimming was her only comfort. She was so depressed that she made a big mistake. Ceylin shouts, she almost died because of your threats!

Seda is clearly affected by this. Ceylin warns Seda, if anything happens to her, if any trace of this remains in her body, I’ll find you wherever you go. I didn’t know, Seda replies. Ceylin continues, you sent out threats and didn’t know what you were doing?! What’s more precious than a young girl’s life?! When did you become so evil?

Seda didn’t think something like this would happen. Did you think it’s just Parla, Ceylin asks. She pulls Seda out to the hall. Look at the people seated there (Ceylin’s family). You hurt those people. A tear falls from Seda’s eye. Don’t cry, Ceylin tells her, you should be happy. Isn’t this what you wanted? Seda apologizes.

Ceylin says, the lives you try to destroy will crumble. You will fall alongside them. You’re helping a murderer. Don’t become his pawn. Seda apologizes again, then walks away. She leaves the hospital.

Ceylin and Ilgaz come face to face. He asks, why don’t you answer your phone?

And we are out.

this really cleared up some confusion I had about the 2 million.

and also the jump Cami made going to "Chuy is Cara Sucia".

for a person that didn't know Pascual was in Miami, Chuy really thinks fast on his feet, this guy is going to be hard to stop.

Wow, novelera! What an amazing recap. It helped me understand some things that weren't clear (at least, not to me) and even supplied some helpful Spanish.

Chuy definitely thinks fast on his feet. When he slips and says that Camila is the better partner for César and César calls him on it, Chuy immediately explains that he means that Cami is the best of all people, or something like that.

I loved Chuy's remark to Pascual about his having slept with so many women that he probably has children scattered all over the place. (Hmmm...that might make an interesting novela!)

If César's woodworking business does go belly-up, perhaps he and Cami can form a detective agency. Cami, especially, seems to have impressive talent for that field.

Hmmm...if Adriana doesn't make it safely to the end of the novela, and if William gets imprisoned for money laundering, perhaps Noelia's cousins can come live with César and Camila. Although I suppose there's a grandmother who might want to care for them. Or perhaps not. (Was the woman William's mother? Or was she the woman who adopted Marina?)

I'm still bothered by something I commented on a while back. In this episode, we get a flashback to a young Chuy with Pascual and one of Pascual's willing women. Chuy is shown as having somewhat lightish brown hair. That's also the way we saw Chuy as a younger child in the orphanage. I still doubt that someone with that hair color as a child will have jet-black hair as an adult. Oh well....

Another amazing recap, dondi! This dizi has me by the throat. I can hardly wait until tonight to see what else these writers have cooked up.

Until they showed Yekta's shock, I was convinced he'd set up the passing out (temporarily) to get Engin out of prison. It kind of reminded me of how Teresa Mendoza was spirited out of a supermax prison in the U.S. so that Season 3 could unfold.

So now we know why all those signed editions of the judge's book were shown over and over. It seems to me that something was in the book that poisoned Engin. We saw that the signature page was torn out.

Merdan doesn't seem willing to admit he didn't take care of Zafer's body. I guess he badly wants his family to think he's invincible.

I'm enjoying how scared Serdar is. And, hopefully, Cinar isn't going to fall into more of his traps. I didn't understand what was said about money Serdar and Nameless Guy got. Was it burying Zafer for Engin?

Every time Ilgaz makes a move it seems to be the right one. He insists on Engin's cell not being disturbed.

If Ceylin hadn't been so impulsive about taking the plastic thing that had the awful ingredients Meltem was giving her child, they wouldn't have had the evidence to remove Elif from her mother.

I'm a bit unclear about how it will work with Merdan taking the evidence. Was Engin's plan to send paperwork (and the flash drive) to the newspapers at exactly 6PM? Or was someone, Seda, to make an announcement at a press conference. If it required paper evidence then nearly everyone is off the hook, as far as I can tell.

Engin was licking his fingers to turn the pages of the book. Were the pages sprayed with some chemical? I was thinking the ambulance with Engin was going to be intercepted and he would be busted out. Still possible to do something from the hospital. Who is behind this? Did Engin set it up for his benefit? Did Seda help? Was it Yekta? Was it Neva? Was it Pars? Those flashbacks were a hint of who could have done it. Or red herring.

Engin was very anxious to get that book and he dug right into it. “Engin was licking his fingers to turn the pages of the book." Right, Lucio. Did Engin expect to be poisoned? They made a point of the cover page being torn out. I thought of LRDS 3, too, novelera.

As evil as Yekta is, I don’t think he wants to harm Engin. He just wants him committed to a psych hospital.

IIRC Merdan made Metin think he had the body so Metin would talk. Then Merdan was on the hook for it. He was overconfident about finding it quickly.

IlCey really make a good team. They complement each other and get the job done.

“I'm a bit unclear about how it will work with Merdan taking the evidence.” novelera, I’m sure Merdan will use some of that dirt to his own advantage.

After Ceylin did a number on Seda’s conscience, who knows if she will go through with plans.

I can’t wait to see what happens at 6!

Juanita,,I agree with you . All the people I know with coal black hair like Chuy and Pasqual had that same color as children . My theory is that if they cast the an actor with that black hair to play young Cara Sucio , we would have quickly guessed who he was as an adult.

I'm VERY late to the party, but I want to thank novelera for her amazing recap. I loved the spanish words, they were new to me.

I especially love Susan's theory that they cast a different colored hair kid to not guess it was Chuy. It makes sense to me.

Chuy shows up at the Stanfords pretending business, meets William but Mariana who was tipped, is no where to be found, Chuy will find her, William reminds him this is his house, they scuffle, Adriana bolts for the door, Chuy knocks William to the floor and follows.

Cami is pacing the floor at the foundation trying to get a hold of Adriana, but listens to Tomas and Ines announce their wedding for tomorrow, are you preggers she asks, nope, it's for the adoption of Miguelito, they want to invite Chuy.

FJ pops in on Cesar, is Mariana really Adriana, he wants to know, Cesar advises him to forget her, she is no longer in this world. (we know he can't)

like a magician, Chuy pulls out yet another of his favorite guns, William who has rebounded appears with one of his own and says, you killed my wife (wow, how did he put that together) he shoots, but the more experienced Chuy makes the kill shot and drops William, the still hidden Adriana's phone rings, oops, Chuy is on it, takes the phone, it's Cami.

spin doctor Renata has decided to go ahead with the Vero interview, (she also does articles for a magazine). Renata starts in on her life as a young girl, learning to fly... (as soft music begins to play)

Cami is all sweets to her new cousin Chuy, as he turns away to reply, the resourceful Adriana commandeers a baseball bat and drops Chuy to the ground, gets the kids into the car and is gone, Chuy who must feel as bad as Pascual looks lately recovers and sends Cami a pic of him and Pascual warning her to keep her mouth shut.

Chuy returns to the hotel, wipes the gun clean before pressing Pascual's prints onto it, apologizes for maybe giving Pascual too strong a sedative, talks about wanting a father like Fj's, but it's too late for that now, Pascual is reeling in and out of the conversation.

Cami connects with Adriana, says she will take care of it, just follow my instructions (of course she doesn't include Cesar in the loop, but then that's what he does)

Noelia is making pizza for dinner, but where is Cami, Cesar can't get a hold of her.

Renata is busy with the interview, distancing herself from her husband and Eva in the garden, Tomas shows announcing his coming marriage, she's all sweets wanting a united family, throwing Pascual under the bus, of course you can have it here.

Cami stops by the office and has FJ set her up for a flight to Miami to save Pascual, Sandra overhears and out of loyalty to her friend Eva, tips the police.

Noelia worries about rich people and poor people, her cousins have much nicer toys than her, and what Gaby says, and ...

Cesar crashes Renata's photo shoot but Renata plays sweet, invites him to the wedding, wants to make amends, sends him smiling on his way, while keeping her rapport with Vero.

Tomas and Ines are talking apartments when sister Susana appears, sorry, news of your dad has killed the adoption, the judge is favoring another couple, bummer, Tomas wants to be the one to break the news to Miguelito.

Jetair Cami arrives in Miami, hands Adriana an envelope of money, tells her to get on the plane, but, Adriana is not alone, the kids, no problem.

Cami calls Cesar, she's in Miami but only long enough to pay off Chuy.

Olga is fussing around Chuy's room, finds a map to the amusement park, ut oh, finds a box of pics, Chuy's kills with a red X on them, no,no Olga tells herself, the kitchen is as far as she gets before she hits the floor.

the Jet air board executive comes to see FJ, they banter business but his concern is William Stanford and the 2 million investment, he was found murdered, Mariana and the kids are gone, the police suspect them.

Noelia can't stop whining, will Cami just disappear like my mommy, when the doorbell rings, it's her, as she runs to open it, whoa...

if this is 80 episodes I was thinking it would end on tuesday july 11 but in tracking the show on Zap2it all is well through monday where it shows epi 75, then on Tuesday the 4th it says epi 83, and then there are no more shows following that.

Ceylin explains that she went to see Seda and then something happened to Engin. Ilgaz knows, he was at the prison and saw him put in the ambulance. Ceylin calls it divine justice. Ilgaz thinks differently. Engin said 6 on the dot and he is here. Something will come of this. [bomb defused or on delayed timer?]

Pars wants answers from Neva. Why did you go to that prison? I just wanted to talk, she replies, I wanted to find out what his problem is with me. Pars says, his problem is with me. He’s obsessed. He knows that I care about you. You got caught in the middle.

Neva wants to know how long her brother will bother her about this. She asks what do I have to do to earn your forgiveness? I admit I made a big mistake. I can’t turn back time and fix it. Pars asks, did you get in contact with Engin in any way? No, she says, why do you ask? Is this make one mistake, and you’re screwed?

Pars thinks this is happening to her because of Ilgaz. Neva says, I saw the doubt in your eyes. He tells her, It’s just that I’m shocked. She responds, just ask me straight up, “do you have anything to do with Engin’s condition?” Ask me! They walk away from each other.

IlCey ask the Dr. for Engin’s status. Not a heart attack. Not a stroke. No bruises or trauma. They are waiting for blood work. Pars walks up on this and introduces himself to the Dr. I’m the DA in charge of this case. Moving forward, you’ll only talk to me. I’ll decide what info is shared with anyone else.

Ilgaz asks Pars if he has any suspicions. Pars walks away.

Pars finds Seda sitting outside the hospital and asks, do you have any idea what happened? She’s very upset. She shakes her head no.

Eren shows up at the aquarium store looking for Fatih. He finds him and punches him. I would have killed you if I weren’t a cop, he says. You’re under arrest for assaulting your wife and attempted murder. Eren cuffs him and takes him away.

Pars gives orders to the jandarmas on guard for Engin. I need to know the prisoner’s every move in the hospital. If you see anyone other than hospital staff walking by or anything unusual, call me immediately.

Yekta and Lacin rush into the hospital. They spot Pars. Yekta asks him what happened? Pars says we are still waiting but it could be serious. Lacin weakens and Yekta leads her to a seat. Yekta asks Pars if there is any info he could share. Pars says this could have been an attempt to kill Engin. We are waiting for test results.

Seda tries to comfort Lacin. Yekta pulls her aside. He asks her what happened. She doesn’t know. He tries to blame her for Engin’s condition. Seda, you gave him the power. He couldn’t have done this on his own. I’ll hold you responsible. She stumbles away from Yekta.

Poor Seda. Merdan grabs hold of her outside the hospital. Who are you, she asks? You’re threatening us, chasing us, he replies, but you don’t know who you’re dancing with. I’m Merdan Kaya. Seda is shocked. Yes, he says, Prof. Sahver based her book on me. I’m Cinar Kaya’s grandfather. The kid you threatened. He backs her up against the building. Now… you’ll forget everything you know about us. One more word from you and I’ll find you.

Seda responds, what do you think you’re doing? There are cops and DAs here. This is an open threat. No, Merdan hisses, I don’t like threats. I like deeds. Intensive care, ERs, death, quickly… My bite is louder than my bark!

He pulls out the pic of the little girl that was found in her hotel room. You adopted an orphan. Gave her a home, sent her to school, raised her. It’s commendable. Seda is frightened. Merdan continues, if you don’t watch your step, she will become an orphan again. She will pay the consequences. Don’t touch my daughter, Seda warns. Merdan says Seda’s actions will determine that. Keep your mouth shut, forget the schemes, stop the threats. Let’s leave it up to divine justice.

Seda panics. I’ll keep my mouth shut. Don’t touch my daughter. Merdan smiles, you’re smart and beautiful. You understood quickly. I’ll be watching you. She turns to go. Merdan grabs her. One more question---where is the body? She has no idea. He tells her to find out. He lets her go.

The hospital vigils continue. Osman asks Ceylin why Pars, Yekta, and the others are there. Ceylin tells him about Engin. He’s sorry to hear it. Ceylin can’t help herself. She answers, don’t be sorry. Let him die. It’s his fault that Parla is in this condition. Osman doesn’t understand. She explains Engin was the one who sent the flowers and the note. Osman is understandably angry.

The Dr. comes out with news for Pars. We detected high levels of arsenic in his blood. Did someone try to kill him? The Dr. says she can’t confirm if someone wanted to kill him or if he tried to commit suicide. Pars asks if Engin will survive. The Dr. says, we will have to see if the treatment works. He may need surgery. Pars reminds her that he is the only one to get updates. If the family asks, tell them it’s food poisoning.

Everyone looks at Pars for an update. He just walks past them without a word. Ceylin grumbles that Pars is still mad at them. We apologized. What is he hiding? Ilgaz says that Pars is involved in this, too.

Pars calls Metin to inform him about Engin. He was poisoned. It could be an attempt. He tells Metin to send officers to the hospital. Who ever did this could try again. He asks Metin to meet him at his office.

Eren brings Fatih to the station. Metin asks about it. Domestic violence. His wife is in critical condition. PSA from Metin on how you can’t tell an abuser by looks alone. Metin says Pars wants to see them. He notes that Eren looks very upset. Eren says he’s just tired and stressed. He asks why Pars wants them. Metin tells him about Engin. Eren is surprised.

IlCey try to get info from the Dr. She’s following Pars’ gag order. Ilgaz flashes his credentials. I’m a DA and I won’t stop asking until you tell me what happened to the prisoner. She tells them about the arsenic.

Yekta barges into a hospital admin meeting with his temper flaring. He demands to know what is happening with his son. He doesn’t believe the food poisoning explanation. He can’t be calmed. I read the ambulance report, he shouts. His pulse was 32! He was unresponsive when they found him! He waves the papers. It’s obvious this isn’t food poisoning! He pounds the table and demands to know what happened.

Ilgaz wants to meet with Pars. He warns Ceylin not to get involved. He will do all the talking. [let’s if she can hold out.] Ilgaz intends to ask him if they can work as a team again. Merdan spots them leaving the hospital—Ay, no, my grandson the DA.

Neva packs her belongings.

Eren gets an update on Ozlem. No improvement. He’s anxious to get her statement. He asks the officer to get Tugce’s statement with a request to be kind to the girl. Metin questions him again about this case. Do you know this woman? Eren says he can’t talk about it. What difference does it make if you know her, Metin asks. Metin and Eren give another short PSA about violence against women.

 

secrets #26 part 3

Yekta comes to Lacin and Seda. He asks Seda, what did you do? Engin is fighting for his life. He was poisoned. Someone tried to kill him. [The hits keep coming for Seda] Lacin asks, who did it? Yekta doesn’t know but he blames Seda for putting this in motion. You made many enemies. I warned you to stop him. You didn’t listen. You didn’t anticipate that Engin could be killed.

Metin and Eren arrive at Pars’ office. Pars goes over the details so far. It sounds like a professional job. We are looking at possible first degree murder. Metin asks if they found any evidence at the prison. Not yet. There’s a crime scene investigation starting now. Pars sends them off to do their job.

IlCey drive up and see Metin and Eren leaving. Ilgaz reminds Ceylin to let him do all the talking. Ceylin decides to wait outside Pars’ office. Ilgaz enters and says, you know why I’m here. I know Engin was poisoned. Obviously, they tried to kill him. Pars says this was supposed to stay secret. He asks, what would you do if I stuck my nose into your case?

Ilgaz replies, actually we are in the same boat. I know he threatened you, too. Ilgaz tosses Engin’s origami on Pars’ desk. Those seem to be the names of all those involved. Your name is there, too. I have nothing to hide, Pars says, I had a secret and it’s no longer a secret thanks to you and your wife. But your family has two names on the list.

Ilgaz says he saw Neva at the prison. She jumped in Engin’s ambulance. She went to see him in the prison. Obviously, there’s a situation involving you and Neva. I won’t ask what it is. We don’t want to pry into one another’s problems. We need to find out who did this. I’ll help if you want me to. Pars thinks for a few seconds and then nods yes.

Ilgaz brings Ceylin into the office. Pars brings IlCey up to speed. Homicide is at the prison now. Whatever they find in the cell will be kept as evidence. What he touched, ate, drank. We see the investigation taking place as Pars speaks. We see the book placed in a bag.

Pars continues, we’ll check any visitors, if he ordered anything from the outside, we will find out if he received anything, or if he argued with anyone. If he contacted anyone, we will interview them. Ceylin asks, that’s it? Ilgaz answers, we can’t have a plan without information. Pars says it’s quitting time. Ilgaz thanks him for his cooperation.

Ceylin congratulates Ilgaz on getting Pars to cooperate. Ilgaz doesn’t respond to that. He asks her if he should drop her at the hospital or her office. Ceylin says she spoke to her mother and Parla is doing well. Aylin is staying with her. Drop me at my office. She asks, tell me… you won’t go to the station after dropping me off. Ilgaz says he won’t. There won’t be results until tomorrow morning.

Yekta finds Pars. He asks, who did this? Pars says, we must first determine how the poison got there. It’s under investigation. Yekta interrupts, you must have an idea. Pars wishes he did. Yekta wants the culprit’s name, now. Who dared to do this to my son?

Pars snarks, I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say, “my son.” It sounds strange. You were happy to see him in prison. When did he become your son? You were the first one on his list. Yekta says that Pars doesn’t understand because he has no children. Even if you are mad at them, they’re still your children [that’s strange coming from this abuser’s mouth] If they need punishment, you do it [now, that’s more like Yekta.] But nobody will lay a finger on him [right, except dear old dad] He bears my name. He’s my blood, my life! Don’t you get it? You don’t know how mad and afraid I am. Pars tells him to relax and let them handle it.

 

secrets #26 part 4

Pars calls Neva. No answer. We see Neva leaving with her bag. A man comes to help her. It’s Cuneyt! He tells her the whole courthouse was worried about her. She assures him she’s fine now and adds, I felt fine after 6p [lol]. I just needed rest. [Do they look like they could become more than friends?] He loads her bags into the trunk and asks if she wants to get something to eat before he drops her off at the hotel. She agrees. He suggests a nice Italian restaurant [sound romantic?] He even opens the car door for her.

Ilgaz checks in with Cinar. He says he’s okay, he’s meeting with Grandpa. End call. Ceylin asks, you have a grandfather? Yes, Ilgaz replies, he’s staying with us for a while. Ilgaz asks Ceylin if she wants to get something to eat. She’s not so sure but he suggests fish and she can’t resist. He knows what she likes.

Metin oversees the forensics. Be extra attentive, he says. The book is tested.

Over a relaxed dinner, Ceylin wants to go over Engin’s list of names. She says to cross their names off the list. He doesn’t have doubts about her, but does she have doubts about him? Ceylin wants to take Osman off the list because he wasn’t aware of the threat to Parla. He was really shocked.

Speaking of Osman, we see him lurking outside the ICU.

Back to dinner. The convo turns personal. Ceylin comments, on one hand, we know each other so well, but on the other we are strangers. Ilgaz says, it’s like I’ve known you for years. I feel like you’re a part of my family. Every time I look at you, I discover new beautiful features. She’s smiling. She says the fish is good. He laughs.

Ceylin mentions Cinar. Ilgaz says he questioned him when he saw his name on the list. But he seems to be fine now. Ceylin agrees, he sounded normal. Ilgaz says it might not be Cinar’s time yet, or maybe the plan failed. Worried looks.

Cinar thanks Merdan for his help. Don’t mention it, he replies, I feel sorry for those who mess with my loved ones. I’ll take care of you for as long as I’m able. Cinar wonders, how did you stop this bastard? Merdan smiles, I stuck a cotton ball in his mouth. Cinar is enjoying his time in the tea house with grandpa. He says, I wish I could spend more time with you. Teach me the ropes.

Merdan answers, as long as I have an eye on you, you can spend time wherever you want. Cinar says he won’t get lost. Merdan grabs the boy’s hand hard.

Rakı is brought to the dinner table. Ilgaz notes this is the first time they have had dinner out. They toast and drink. Back to the list. Ceylin brings up Eren. Ilgaz’s face changes. He says the situation really affected Eren. He’s hesitant to tell Eren’s business. Ceylin says Eren would probably tell her anyway, they are pretty close. That gets a slight reaction from Ilgaz. Ceylin clarifies that Eren is a friend.

Ilgaz says the situation is dreadful. It has to do with an ex-girlfriend. It left a deep wound. He didn’t know he had a daughter. Ceylin is stunned.

Tugce waits at the hospital. Eren shows up with döner kebap and fries. He wasn’t sure about the drink so he brought options. He holds out the bag to her. She just gives him a very dirty look. She finally grabs the bag, walks away from him and dumps it in the trash. She turns back to him with her arms folded. Eren leaves without another word.

Ceylin thinks Eren must be devastated. Ilgaz confirms it. He hasn’t seen Eren this sad and helpless in years. Ceylin states, that man (Engin) has attacked all of us. Ilgaz adds, and he’s enjoying it. Ceylin says, sometimes she wishes he’d die.

Ceylin mentions Pars. Ilgaz reminds her she wouldn’t ask about him. She says his name is on the list. Ilgaz replies, he’s a DA, you think he’d poison him knowing he’s in prison? Ceylin admits it’s hard to believe but adds, we don’t know the demons inside a person.

Pars reads the note Neva left for him: This was bound to happen. Thanks for the hospitality. I want to be alone for a while –Neva. Pars crumples the note and throws it.

Ceylin says she’s done with her part of the list and they are done with the fish. You didn’t mention Cuneyt, Ilgaz says. Ceylin says it’s his turn with the list. Anyway, Ceylin thinks that Cuneyt has nothing to hide.

And speaking of Cuneyt, he’s wining and dining Neva. He offers, let’s make a toast to this evening. We should, she replies.

Ilgaz proposes it could be someone not on the list. We shouldn’t limit the possibilities. Ceylin says let’s stick to the list for now. To be clear Ilgaz asks, we are just talking, right? He feels the most likely suspect is Yekta.

Ceylin doesn’t dismiss it but says, that’s his father, so… Ilgaz asks why is it so hard to believe? We don’t know how Engin threatened Yekta. Yekta’s past is appalling. This is a total stunner: Ilgaz says, we saw some of it in the news. He killed his own son who wasn’t even one year old yet. [How did he get away with it?!] Ceylin doesn’t want to hear about it, neither do I.

Ceylin moves on. There’s Lacin. Ilgaz doesn’t think much of that.

Fatih is brought to Eren. He calls him scum, a filthy bastard. You almost beat your wife to death. Fatih denies it. Stop lying, Eren responds, you hit her, cleaned the house. She’s in the hospital. Fatih asks who filed the complaint. Eren won’t say. Fatih continues to deny. Eren says they will get the hospital report tomorrow and he will ask him again. I love my wife, Fatih claims, and she loves me. She’s kind. I’d never hurt her. We never fight.

Eren tells Fatih that the judge will rule if this is attempted murder and order your incarceration. We will be watching from the first row.

Ceylin’s hands go to her head. The drinks got to her. Ilgaz says let’s stop. He goes to take the glass away. She stops him. I don’t want to, she tells him, is there a single moment when you don’t hold back and decide to carry on? I mean… without thinking about what will happen in the end… and without looking back? No, he answers. She asks, a moment in which you let go… not a single moment? Another no from Ilgaz. She repeats, no?

You’re incredible, Ceylin says, control… boundaries… got it. She continues, don’t you ever think of the road not taken? He’s thinking. She wonders, something special, perhaps? He replies—maybe. [Ceylin lit that fuse, will this bomb explode before the night is over?]

And we are out.

Ilgaz was talking about some man in the news that killed his own son, as an example that it is not impossible that Yekta would do it.

Neva and Cuneit? Ceylin and Neva swapping boyfriends. Another possible pair: Pars and Seda.

One question: I'm not sure what you meant at the end of the recap. If Susanlynn reads the recaps first, that's her choice. Why should that affect what the recap contains? However, since you didn't mention who Noelia sees at the door when she opens it, I guess I won't either.

"Swapping boyfriends" lol Ceylin said Cuneyt was a womanizer. Hoping Neva will not have her heart broken again. Pars and Seda... interesting. Hard for me to picture him in a romantic relationship.

Thanks so much, deb, for the recap of a very eventful recap! Well, William knew from his analysis of Adriana's hair that she was not Mariana. But I also don't know how he knew Chuy was the one who killed his wife.

Would there be any telenovelas at all if the eavesdropping device were prohibited? Sandra had to put her oar in and call the cops, possibly ruining Cami's plan to outwit Chuy.

ITA about Noelia's whining. The little girl is very cute, but whenever she gets into that tone of voice, I feel like jumping into the TV and telling her what I told my son: Whining will get you nowhere so stop it right now!

Well, I'm not clamming up about who was ringing the doorbell at César's house. I did enjoy Noelia's wide smile at seeing her cousins on the doorstep. I do wonder if she'll pretend to be Mariana for Noelia or come out with the truth.

Should we start a betting pool about Chuy? I'm strongly leaning toward he dies. They could also show him raving in a looney bin as I've seen some Uni villains end up.

Thanks again, dondi. I realize how much I've misunderstood something by reading your recaps. And I can't imagine a more perfect quote than the Confucian one that was in the Turkish version. Believe I've heard it somewhere before.

At first I was thinking Pars was behaving like a jealous, sulky child denying Ilgaz information, but perhaps he's simply afraid something about Neva will come to light.

Poor Seda? Sorry, I don't agree. Until they show me some awful threat Engin made to her, I consider her nearly as bad as Engin for what she's done. I didn't mind Merdan's threats one bit! I just want Cinar to be safe.

Speaking of missing things, I completely missed that that book that's making the rounds had anything to do with Merdan.

So...Engin kept asking about some delivery he was expecting. Was it the book? He pleased enough to have it. But I had expected he was awaiting another item for his revenge. Could he have had the book poisoned himself in order to escape and his accomplice misjudged the dosage?

Something about Cinar's bonding with his grandfather makes me nervous. Merdan is a really evil guy. He would have no effect whatsoever on Ilgaz, but Cinar has already shown some moral failings.

I get your point about Seda. But Engin used her. He appealed to her bitterness, her weakness. She wanted revenge against Yekta, yes, but she wasn't 100% on board with it all, especially with Parla. She said the girl was young and had no fault. Unfortunately, she followed through. I don't think she expected these results. I didn't like Merdan's threats regarding Seda's daughter. Deb ...thanks for thinking of me !!! Ironically , the ending was cut off my recording of this episode, but I actually guessed that the cousins were at the door !!!

This show has had so many twists and turns . The actor playing Thug ( Chuy) is doing a great job as is Adriana. I think That Chuy will either end up in a mental hospital or dead . I have no idea what Adriana's fate will be , but I guess it will be a PSA about the downfall of juggling a lot of hombres . It was fun for her....until it wasnt . Cara Sucio , her partner in crime, went off the deep end . Do we know how she veered from her March through the Del Rios and met and married average guy Cesar ? I never got used to this actor as a good guy after watching him as a very smarmy guy in " Mujer De Nadie" on Uni.

secrets #27 part 1

Slight rewind to Ceylin’s tipsy ramblings at dinner: “is there a single moment when you don’t hold back and decide to carry on? I mean… without thinking about what will happen in the end… and without looking back? She finally gets a “maybe” from Ilgaz.

He raises his glass, here’s to not thinking about the end. They drink and laugh.

Dinner is over and IlCey walk. Since they’ve been drinking, Ilgaz wants to get a taxi. He offers his arm to Ceylin for support. He tells the taksici to go to Sariyer (his place), she says no, go to Galata (her office). Ilgaz doesn’t like that—she will be cold there. Ha… he says your sofa misses you. She wants to go to Galata and Galata it is.

Ceylin thanks Ilgaz for today. She hasn’t been this happy [or maybe this drunk] in a long time. It may have been a bad day because of Engin, but I think we had a good time, she tells him. She rests her head on his shoulder. Enjoy the snuggles, Ilgaz.

They arrive at Ceylin’s office. Ilgaz is worried about her in the cold. She’s still having trouble paying the bills. Clients are demanding, she says, but when it comes to paying for the job, they disappear. She’ll settle everything when she gets paid by the hospital. He’s really worried she will freeze there tonight.

Ceylin is still feeling the rakı. She plops into her bed. Ilgaz covers her. She grabs his hand. Will you stay with me until I fall asleep? He pulls a chair beside the bed. Ceylin has bed spins and she’s feeling very cold. She holds her arm out to Ilgaz—will you hold me? Ilgaz obliges and slides in to spoon her. [these two fit like puzzle pieces in many instances] It looks like he’s taking in her scent as he replays their evening. [In the end I knew that Ilgaz would never take advantage of the situation. Nevertheless, a very nice scene.]

Ilgaz wakes up in the morning, gets out of the bed and settles back in the chair. Ceylin wakes, she’s surprised he’s still there. You didn’t leave? He replies, you didn’t want me to go. Don’t you remember. Yes, she remembers it well, it was cold. We just fell asleep together. [lol, the girl who talked about letting go last night, seems a little embarrassed this morning]

As Ilgaz exits the building, he takes a slip of paper from the door and slips it into his pocket. Ceylin catches him. Is it the gas bill? She wants it back. He insists he will take care of it. Are you scared I’ll call you every night because I’m cold, she snarks. He laughs. Don’t worry, I won’t do it, she assures.

Ceylin says she’s going to the jewelry store where her father went. Ilgaz says he will take her. Ceylin asks, and we can get something to eat, too?

Pars is waiting for Neva when she enters her office. Where did you stay last night, Neva? She doesn’t answer—she needs to prepare for a hearing. He’s worried she left like that. She doesn’t return calls. He calls her immature. He asks again, where did you spend the night? She doesn’t feel she has to explain, she’s an adult. I lived alone in Ankara for years, okay? I decided to build my own world, she tells him.

Eren gets word that Ozlem is recovering. The officer says they got her statement. Ozlem didn’t report Fatih. She claims she fell down the stairs. If only there were stairs in the house, Eren says. The officer asks, do we have to let the crazy bastard go? Eren tells him to say the DA needs to sign off, or that we’re missing paperwork! Don’t give him food or water!

 

secrets #27 part 2

Tugce shows up at the station. Why did you arrest him? Eren says he deserved it. Didn’t you see what he did to your mother? You were there. Tugce blames Eren for what happened. He answers, regardless, is there any reason? Every day dozens of women are murdered in this country. Your mother didn’t report him. When a man hits a woman, he’s close or past the point of no return. Fatih is at that point. Get your mother to tell the truth. Don’t be afraid. We will get a restraining order. Tugce wants to see her father.

Breakfast at the Kaya house. Cinar says he’s recovered and wants to get a job. He wants to work with Merdan. And what will you do, Metin asks, learn to become a thief? Merdan drops his fork and looks at Metin with astonishment. Forget about working with grandpa, Metin says, find a decent job.

Cinar is defiant—I’m old enough to make my own decisions. Merdan tells Cinar he should listen to his father. One must respect and listen to his father, as one always does with our elders. [message for Metin more than Cinar] Cinar leaves the table.

Merdan says that Cinar’s rope is stretched and at the point of breaking. Ease up. Metin asks his father to stay out of this. He reminds Merdan they were supposed to talk. Merdan says he wasn’t going to wait all night. Let the dead rest in peace. Metin asks Merdan to step outside.

Metin begins, tell me where he is. Tell me everything. How did you know there was a body in the car? Merdan says his men were keeping an eye on the house. When Cinar came home, they saw you leave the house in a hurry. They followed. They told me you cleaned everything. I took the body to help you. Where did you take it, Metin asks.

Merdan starts shouting as a diversion. We’re talking about a dead body in the morning?! You didn’t even let me have breakfast in peace. Metin stares him down. Look at me, stop avoiding eye contact. Tell me where, how and when did you steal the body from the car. We know Merdan can’t answer. He finally blurts it was in front of the house.

Metin thinks back to the video where his car trunk was opened at the hospital. He calls Merdan a liar. He mentions the footage. You didn’t know about the body, did you? You’ve been lying all this time. You said he was buried, and you read the prayer. [Liar, liar, pants on fire!]

Metin continues to rip into Merdan, you brought your lies into my house! Now you are after my son! You’re leaving! I don’t want to see you here when I come back tonight. He goes. Merdan is incensed. You have dishonored me, he growls, you will pay for all of this.

IlCey are at the jeweler. He doesn’t remember Zafer well. He’s not a regular customer. He says Zafer came to exchange gold for cash and left. Ilgaz asks about the security cameras. How often is the footage deleted? Weekly. That won’t help. Zafer was there before that. Ceylin is frustrated. Ilgaz tells her not to lose hope. We will find him.

Eren lurks while Tugce talks to Fatih. She asks, how do I know you won’t do this again? She barely survived. I won’t let you leave me motherless. Fatih claims he learned his lesson. Tugce replies, you always say that. Then you do it again. He begs Tugce to ask her mom not to report him. He regrets it. Tugce is willing to give Fatih one last chance. [too bad] She warns him if it happens again she will call the cops and never call him dad again.

Eren gets a copy of Engin’s forensics report. We see a picture of Sahver’s book. Eren leaves for the courthouse.

IlCey visit Pars. He offers coffee, Ilgaz accepts. And a snack while they wait for the report? Ceylin declines and says they had simit (Turkish bagel). Pars snarks, a thrifty family. Soon you will be able to afford a house and a child. [shy smiles from IlCey.]

 

secrets #27 part 3

Eren comes to Pars’ office. He sees IlCey and wonders if he should come back later. Pars tells him IlCey are on the team. Arsenic was found in the book. Ilgaz says that he and Ceylin have copies of the book. Pars has one, too. He says every lawyer has this. Eren says they found fingerprints and are running them. He mentions the first page was ripped out.

Pars realizes Engin must have licked his finger as he read. Ilgaz says that would be left to chance. Not everyone licks their finger—I don’t. Ceylin says she does. She grabs the book and turns and licks. Eren grabs the book and demonstrates how Engin must have done it. Pars grabs the book with disgust. Everyone spit on his book. Lol Ilgaz concludes it's someone who knows Engin well enough to know how he reads a book.

Aylin and Parla talk. I wanted to die, the girl says. Aylin asks if she regrets it. Parla tearfully nods yes. Aylin tells her it doesn't matter what others think. Your life is very important. Don’t forget that. Gul and Osman arrive. Gul hugs her granddaughter. Can I hug you, too, Osman asks. Parla nods. They embrace and cry.

Eren tells Ceylin that Ozlem won’t report Fatih. I wanted you to take her case and get a restraining order. Count on me, Ceylin replies. He thanks his friend. [In the Turkish, he always calls her “kraliçem” – my queen.] There’s something else he wants to ask her. Engin has threatened us all. What did he threaten you with? She tells him about the letter she had to read.

Ilgaz tells Ceylin he handed over the hospital case to Pars. So we’re done, Ceylin replies. When this divorce thing is over, we will meet again, right? Otherwise, I won’t get to fight with you again. She asks what he did with the divorce petition. Ilgaz tells her he doesn’t know, he can’t find it. He thinks he lost it. He walks away.

IlCey head back to Pars’ office. Eren says there’s a match on the prints and a name from the book—Seda Gokmen.

Seda covers the sleeping Lacin with a coat. Lacin stirs and wakes. Is there news about Engin? Not yet, Seda answers, go back to sleep I’ll keep you informed.

Yekta wanders by the ICU window. Does he really care about his son?

Ilgaz wonders why Seda would want to poison Engin. They worked together. Eren says perhaps she came here with her own agenda. Pars agrees with Ilgaz. Seda was Engin’s attorney. She isn’t stupid. Her name was in the book, and it had her prints. Ceylin agrees, so does Eren. Pars wants Seda brought in for a statement.

Cinar meets Merdan at the tea house. Grandpa asks, why didn’t you listen to your father? I’m old enough, Cinar replies. What did I tell you this morning, Merdan says. Cinar notes that Metin doesn’t listen to Merdan and asks, so why should I listen to him? He adds, did you listen to yours? [good question] Merdan clicks a “no”. Cinar repeats that he’s old enough. So, now tell me what can I do? Let’s drink tea and see, Merdan says.

Ceylin tells Ilgaz she’s going to the hospital to check on Parla. Then she’ll come back. Ilgaz asks her if she wants him to go with her. She politely declines. He reminds her to answer her phone. He will fill her in if anything happens. She promises to answer and adds, if I don’t, that means something happened to me. [is something going to happen to her?]

Engin’s Dr. tells Seda he is awake. He’s okay. Seda wants to see him. Dr. says no more than 5 minutes.

Engin tells Seda he’s okay. He asks, why am I here? She shakes her head and says, what have we done? He says he doesn’t remember anything. Why am I here? She replies, someone tried to kill you. What? Seda tells him he was poisoned. Who did it?

Seda doesn’t know. Could have been anyone, everyone hates us. Someone tried to kill you. I was threatened, everyone is out to get me. Everyone was praying for you to die. What kind of disgusting game are we in? No one should have been hurt. A young lady is dying because of us. Her family is devastated. You lied to me. I trusted you. I did what you told me. How could you…

Engin interrupts, okay, Teyze… I was dying. Don’t forget that. You seem okay now, Seda says, that’s what matters now. But I’m out. Bitti gitti -- over and gone. Engin asks to see his father. She’s surprised and says he isn’t allowed. Engin disregards her. I need to see him, he says.

Yekta spots Ceylin at the hospital. He asks, do you know who did this to my son? I don’t, she replies, but I do know I don’t feel sorry for him. Don’t do that, Yekta says, you were friends. Inseparable. She shoots back, we were but that was when Inci was alive. We all make mistakes and being his friend was mine.

Yekta asks if she was involved in this. If you were, he warns, and something happens to my son, I’ll start with you first to get justice. Ceylin says she’s not afraid. Don’t worry about Engin, nothing ever happens to the bad ones. Unfortunately, they live a long life.

Seda tells Yekta that Engin is awake and recovering and wants to see him.

Eren shows up at the hospital to take Seda in for questioning. Look at Yekta in the background. He took off like a shot.

Engin thought his father was going to save him. Was this part of your wonderful plan? Yekta looks around before answering, why do you think this was part of my plan? What if you died? What kind of poison was this? He tells Engin, my plan was working. Engin asks about the plan. Yekta says, I was going to use the time you spent at the clinic. It was going great. I gave the report to Pars to make him think I wanted to put you in a straitjacket.

Engin gets it. He would be free. Yekta says it was supposed to work but this happened. We were worried, your mother was devastated. Engin whines if it wasn’t you, it was someone else. [spare me] He worries, what if they try again? [maybe we’d be happy if they were successful] I don’t want to die. [this is the first time I’ve seen him concerned about his safety.]

Engin carries on. Yekta tries to calm him and says he’ll find a solution. He thinks they can plan an escape from the hospital. The Dr. said they’ll run tests. You’ll use the bathroom for a urine sample, you’ll be all alone. There’s a large window in there. It’s only one floor up. You can jump.

Yekta says will have a car and a gun ready for him. We’ll think about where you go when you get out. He thanks his father, hugs him and cries. You can see Yekta is not used to this.

Gul tells Ceylin they are on their way home from the hospital. They ask Ceylin to pick up some paperwork they left behind.

Pars takes Seda’s statement. He explains about the book and says it’s hers. She’s stunned. It can’t be. He asks her if she has the book. I don’t know, she replies, I might have lost it. She thinks… she might have left it at the restaurant. She left in a hurry. She collided with a messenger on a bike. Stuff spilled all over. We see the flashback and the messenger took the book.

She remembers when she got to the hospital, she thought she’d have time to read the book but it wasn’t in her bag. She’s certain she lost it when she bumped into the messenger. He bumped into her on purpose. Stop guessing, Pars warns. Seda asks if this is a trick. Pars says he doesn’t know if it’s a trick or if he’s facing a liar. But the truth will come out. She exclaims, I didn’t do it. I wouldn’t harm Engin or anyone else.

 

secrets #27 part 5

Ceylin gets Parla’s paperwork, and she encounters Engin being led to the bathroom for his sample. He’s whistling and meets her eyes. Somehow, this makes her think back to a much earlier time: they won a case and he suggested they run away to Bodrum to celebrate. This leads her to conclude he’s escaping. She runs off.

Pars updates Ilgaz on Seda’s statement. We let her go but we’re following her. If she has a plan, it will be harder for her to succeed. She said she didn’t poison Engin. He tells Ilgaz about the messenger. Pars felt Seda was being honest, but he can’t be sure. Ilgaz is still thinking about Yekta. Pars is inclined to agree, but Yekta was begging Pars to find who did this. Ilgaz wonders if Engin did this to himself. What if he planned to run away? He’s already out of prison.

And we are out of the episode.

Since no recap has appeared, I thought I'd offer a quickie.

César asks Adriana why she brought Mariana's children. She tells him that Cara Sucia just killed their father. He's looking for me. Please help me.

Cami agrees to meet Chuy, but says it should be in a public place with lots of people around.

Pascual tells Chuy not to call him Don Pascual. He explains that Renata never told him that he was Chuy's father, "but perhaps she did you a favor, Chuy. I was the worst father--to Tomás, Francisco Javier, and even to Camila. It would have been the same with you." Pascual cries and thanks Chuy for helping him!

A police undercover agent reports that Camila has not met with Pascual and perhaps won't.

Adriana pleads with César to be allowed to stay just one day. César again asks why she brought the children with her. She replies "So they wouldn't have to see their father's dead body."

Renata and Valeria are having a rather unfriendly conversation. Renata tells Valeria that she'd rather be alone than in bad company. She calls for Olga to bring food. Olga doesn't respond. Renata goes to berate her but instead finds her unconscious on the floor. Renata feels for a pulse and screams for Valeria to call an ambulance.

Cami and César talk by phone, but then she tells him she's about to turn her phone off. He pleads with her not to do that. Alas, she doesn't listen. [I find this a bit strange, since Cami knows that Chuy is dangerous and probably an assassin.]

She meets with Chuy, and says she supposes she should call him "cousin." He tells her no, he's her sibling. Or, rather, half-sibling. He says that among Pascual's many brief sexual encounters was one with Valeria, Renata's sister. Pascual is his father.

Camila says she wants to help Chuy,that she has immense sadness thinking of how her family treated him. She says she knows what he has done but nonetheless wants to help him get away so he can lead a better life. She insists that she hasn't told anyone. He tells her he doesn't believe her. He also says, "If I could kill Alejandra, it would be even easier killing you."

Camila still tries to claim that she understands and wants to help. "We looked at you and didn't see you. Forgive us." Chuy then gets a message on his phone telling him that Olga is in the hospital. He seems genuinely upset. "My mamá is in the hospital. Look" he says to Cami, showing her the message he received.

Cami says she wants to see her father. Chuy agrees but insists that they go in his car. As Cami gets into the car, we see a gun in Chuy's hand.

FJ shows up at César's house. César leaves them alone to talk. Adriana admits that yes, she's Adriana, not Mariana. "You deserve to know," she tells FJ. She also tells him that the night they spent in Miami was the most authentic experience she's ever had. FJ tells her he doesn't believe her. She replies, "I've evidently lost you. But I don't want you to leave without knowing what I feel." FJ replies, "You ruined my life." Adriana says, "If it's any consolation, my life was ruined a long time ago. Forgive me." FJ leaves.

Ines and Tomás meet with Miguelito at the del Rio mansion. They tell him they love him, but they break the news that another family will be adopting him. "But I want you," Miguelito protests. Ines and Tomás assure Miguelito that they'll always love him.

Renata has told the police what hotel Chuy and Pascual are staying in (the one JetAir always used). Chuy and Camila are in the car near the hotel.Suddenly, several police cars with sirens blaring arrive at the hotel. Chuy thinks Camila has betrayed him. She sees that all the police are rushing into the hotel. She tells Chuy the police are not after him, they're rushing into the hotel to get Pascual. Chuy continues not to believe her, and she tries to escape from the car. The ever-resourceful Chuy injects her with some kind of sedative that knocks her unconscious. We then see the police arrest a dazed Pascual for Eva's murder. All he can do is groan loudly.

Adriana seems to be giving her goodbye speech to César. She tells him it took all her misadvantures to help her realize that nothing is better than here. She's sorry she can't enjoy the simple things. She missed César, Noelia, even César's mother. Camila is very lucky, and César is too. Camila has given Noelia more love in a short time than Adriana could give in a lifetime. She tells César he has an enormous heart, and "I was lucky to have you and Noelia in my life. But now I have to leave. If FJ could get here, chances are Cara Sucia could, too."

Renata tells Tomás that his father was just arrested in Miami. She suggests that perhaps the wedding should be postponed. Tomás says his father has already spoiled his childhood, "I'm not going to let him ruin this day, too." He persuades Ines to go ahead with the wedding that day.

Chuy arrives at the Del Rios. [Sorry, I've run out of time.]

We see an unconscious Cami in a (JetAir?) plane. The female co-pilot (who looks familiar, but I can't identify her) says, "Don't worry, honey. Soon you are going to see paradise." And on that ominous note, the episode ends.

Engin is going to try to escape. They could have done a better job guarding the prisoner.
