Dondi, I've run out of adjectives to thank you for these fine recaps. Last night's show was FULL of reveals. I liked your comment about Ilcey's relationship being full of puzzle pieces in many instances. I assumed you meant her hurry up vs his wait and see. They are definitely getting closer to the kissing scenes Telemundo decided to show from jump street.
Concerning the revelation that Metin conspired to put Zafer in prison years ago, you could make a Romeo and Juliet comparison with Ilcey, in that their families have a grudge.
I enjoyed Eren's remark about "if only there were stairs". Definitely emphasizes the ridiculous practice of police accepting impossible versions of how women end up badly beaten.
Got a kick out of Pars grumbling about everyone having gotten spit on his copy of the book.
I was so happy to see Parla hug her father. He betrayed her mother, but this does not mean he doesn't dearly love his child.
I think that the letter Engin wanted Ceylin to read was closest to his goal: get out of prison. IIRC the verbiage had to do with Inci perhaps deserving to die because of dealing drugs. The other things that were to be revealed at 6PM were pure spite.
So, whoever stole Seda's copy of the book didn't really want her blamed for it, just that Engin would die. He tore out the signature page.
Well...assuming that Engin manages to carry out Yekta's escape plan, we can rest assured that he won't just end up living anonymously in Greece, or wherever he might escape to. Dizi villains, just like the TN ones, keep trying to get revenge until they're killed off. The one I'm thinking of is Amor Valiente, where the guy who got out of prison kept on trying to kill or ruin his enemies.
Thanks so much for putting up such a fine recap! I know late night shows are not your thing, much less freakin' midnight.
It's kind of funny how FJ keeps showing up over and over to talk with César about Adriana. Once he actually broke in and was caught by Noelia. I sort of enjoy their talks, although César could be a bit kinder to him. César is well over Adriana, but he might have more sympathy for someone still madly in love with her.
Cami is just being completely reckless in her plan to thwart Chuy.
I thought that pilot looked familiar also. The only thing I can come up with is the assassin that first convinced Noelia to come with her to see her mother. But, if it's the same woman, it's an amazing plot point that she could also fly planes. Plus, you'd think she'd still be in custody for kidnapping Noelia and keeping Adriana prisoner.
I'm amazed at how quickly my brain washes details free. So Chuy is back in LA? The plane that brought Cami went back with Adriana and Mariana's children. So I'm not sure how he got there so quickly. Telenovela Airlines?
Thanks very much, novelera, for your interesting and helpful comments. You're right--late-night telenovelas are not my thing. When they're at midnight, I just set my DVR and then watch the next day, most often in the afternoon (as was the case with this one). But then I found to my surprise that no one had done or promised to do a recap for that episode, so I dashed off a quick one before an appointment I had at 3 pm. Of course, the danger of posting in the afternoon on a Thursday is that it will be ignored once the Thursday Telemundo y Más page goes up. I'm very glad you saw it.
I agree completely with what you've said about Cami. Usually, she's so astute, but I guess the combination of guilt over the way her family has treated Chuy for so many years, coupled with her concern for her father, SERIOUSLY clouded her judgment.
I'm glad you too thought the co-pilot looked familiar. I don't think that's the same woman who convinced Noelia to come with her to see her mother--I thought that woman was a bit older--but I'm not sure.
As for how Chuy got back, I think there were two planes--the one he took to get to Miami, and the one Cami took to get to Miami. As you noted, Adriana and the two kids took Cami's to escape to Los Angeles, but probably Chuy's plane was still available, and I'm assuming he took it back to LA.
#74 – Víctima de mí Hermano – Parte 1 de 2
We begin with Chuy at the wedding in L.A. [Thanks, Juanita, for reminding me that Chuy also had a private plane in Miami.]
Francisco Javier, as primogeniture, addresses Chuy. “You betrayed me [Ale}. Knowing he’s their cousin FJ is willing to let it pass. Tomás chimes in he’ll also let the past slide (stolen embryos). Chuy resists their offers. Renata tells everyone she gave him lots of money and bought him a house.
We find out that the hitwoman/kidnapper also can fly planes. She brings the half conscious Cami to a locked room with boarded up windows. She (sorry, I can’t remember her name) says that Alejandra Edwards got her out of prison.
Valeria, a bit dense, keeps trying to find a way to approach Chuy and is rejected once more.
At César’s, he tells Adriana that Cami still isn’t picking up. Adriana tells him that Cami was the one who told her about Cara Sucia being in Miami. She tells César that the reason she got involved with the Del Rio family was because of Cara Sucia. She says it’s too dangerous to say who he is.
Chuy continues spitting resentment at the Del Rios. The only one who calls him on his BS is Inés. After he leaves the room, Renata says that her “nephew” is the one most like her . [Yep!]
Chuy goes to see Olga. She sobs out what she knows about the murders. Ha! Olga, blind like many mothers, thinks that Adriana corrupted her baby boy. Chuy tells her about the house by the sea.
We get a long rendition of Ave María while Olga sobs and we see Pascual processed into prison. [In TNs they don’t seem to go to a local jail to await trial. Nope, straight to the Big House.] The song continues while Inés and Tomás are married (civil marriage – no priest).
Adriana argues with César. She wants the keys to his truck to go rescue Cami. He actually shakes her, and she admits Cara Sucia is Chuy. Elvira comes in, and Adriana pretends to be Mariana Stanford.
At the Zoo there’s champagne toasts after the wedding. Chuy comes out of Olga’s room looking 100% evil and quickly changes his face to good old Chuy.
César is on the road to L.A. and calls Tomás to find out if Chuy is still at the Zoo.
Chuy packs up but, oddly, leaves the wooden box that Olga found with clues about his guilt.
Whoa! Barros and Pascual are cellmates. Barros tells him three things are unforgivable in prison: bribery, to be rich, or to be a cop. He goes to the bar and asks for gum. [deb, I think you wondered if he’d do so!]
Chuy discovers Olga is dead. César arrives. Chuy thanks God for giving him Olga. Chuy and César fight. Chuy fights dirty. Chuy gets away. Chuy calls César to say that he has Cami and will give her up in exchange for Adriana.
#74 – Víctima de mí Hermano – Parte 2 de 2
Adriana shows the side we’ve seen before. She amuses Noelia, Mary, and Joseph. Mary and Joseph sort of reveal that Mariana was a better executive than a mother. Noelia also reveals that her mother was often thinking of other things. Looking sad, Adriana tells Noelia that she’s lucky to have Camila. Then she begins to sing a song Noelia knows. Noelia joins in. We then see some people removing Olga’s body.
Cami comes to from the sedative.
César finds the box with Chuy’s crossed out victims and says: Es un enfermo (he’s a sick puppy). César tells FJ to keep Renata out of what's going on. He shows FJ a photo of the famous house at the beach. [I find it hard to believe a house stays on the market that long in California.]
Chuy arrives at his dream house. Hmm. Is this the house in the photo we’ve seen over and over? It looks like the ugliest house on the Pacific Coast. Or maybe the only one the owners would permit them to use in a photograph.
Chuy tells Cami about Olga’s dying. She keeps trying to have him realize that she loved Olga too. Chuy wishes Cami hadn’t found out his plans. He says he’ll have to kil her. He says he wants to die by Adriana’s side.
Adriana tells César that Chuy won’t kill Cami while she’s still of use to him. Adriana insists that he take her where Chuy is. FJ arrives and says everyone has to go to the Zoo, the safest place. He’s arranged for security guards. Adriana insists on the exchange of herself for Cami.
Renata is so lonely she even asks Valeria to stay. Valeria: ¡Púdrete or muérete, me da lo mismo! (Rot right here or die; it’s all the same to me.) After Valeria leaves Renata starts to cry, sobbing about “poor Olga”. She probably really means “poor Renata”.
Inés figures out that Chuy is Cara Sucia. Tomás isn’t buying it.
Cami keeps trying to talk Chuy off the ledge. She tells him how much Olga meant to her.
Adriana calls Chuy from César’s phone and offers to exchange herself. Chuy says he’ll send them the address, but has something to do first.
César doesn’t’ want Adriana to do it. She says she’ll be the carnanda (bait) they can use to trap him. [I’m happy she isn’t quite ready to die as a martyr.]
Chuy is thrilled. Cami suggests he go to another country with lots of money. He laughs. He says something about the things money can buy. He pulls out what I think looks like a long wig. He calls someone and asks for a helicopter in a half hour.
FJ calls Tomás and asks him to come to the Zoo. He wants him to help with Renata and the children. We see the children arrive. After Elvira takes the kids away, César tells Renata that Chuy kidnapped Cami.
I keep wondering how this has so many episodes left. Seems like it could wrap up in one episode next week.
Thank you, Lucio and novelera.
Lucio, I feel it’s necessary include info on the Turkish music. Telemundo does us a great disservice in changing the soundtracks. Maybe it’s a money issue. Univision seems to keep the original dizi soundtracks.
“They are definitely getting closer to the kissing scenes Telemundo decided to show from jump street.” novelera, I’m upset with Telemundo for showing spoilers in the opening credits, too. Among dizi viewers there’s a general belief that the 13th episode brings an important step in the lead couple’s relationship. We didn’t get the first kiss (or more), but we got another dizi trope, in bed together with all their clothes on.
When the messenger appeared, my thoughts went immediately to Merdan.
Recap will be up in an hour or two.
it looks like "Betty en NY" takes over the coveted Midnight time slot next Wednesday. The last episode of "Juego de mentiras" on Tuesday is titled "Pocas tortugas llegan al mar", (Few turtles reach the sea).
Terrific recap novelera !!! you look at things a bit different than I do and catch so many little things I miss.
so funny all the little boards on all the little windows where Cami is.
Lucy is the kidnapper, I think that was a small plane she took Cami in, probably not the co=pilot, just sitting in that seat.
Cesar doesn't want Renata to know because she will involve the police and mess up his plans, as if he ever had any plans other than showing up without a gun. Did he get a new pickup?
yep, Elvis in jail with Pascual, that was cool, now where can he find some gum? Interesting, Pascual was hesitant to give up his wedding ring.
wow, Mariana's kids are clueless to what's going on, will they get dropped off at the orphanage?
so who will Renata find to manipulate, (of course all her kids left home but are having trouble getting out the door) she can't even go to work and bother those people.
I thought FJ was dead for sure, but Chuy didn't shoot, must be a good sign for Adriana and her second chance at a family.
Hi, Dondi. I haven't been watching this show because the galan was so awful in " Amor Eterna" that I didn't know if I could accept him as a galan like Buruk Ozcivit and Engin.
I have been recording and watching " Madre" . Are you watching or did you watch in the original Turkish dizi ? ? It is a sad story, but the acting is good and i like the strong, silent galan. There are some baddies , but there are also good people who try to help the poor mother and her very sweet children.
I also wasn’t sure if I could accept the galan in this dizi after Amor eterno, but I think he is doing a great job! The actor is very popular, and I now understand why!
Babachita
Susanlynn, is that you?
Yes, Emir was awful in Amor Eterno, but he is a great galan in Secretos. Anyway, it's hard to compete with Burak and Engin. I wish you were watching with us.
I haven't watched Mujer/Kadın. The story seemed too depressing to me. Also, my viewing time is limited and I had to make choices. Secretos is a dizi I had on my watch list.
The first season of Engin's new dizi, Adım Farah ended a couple of weeks ago. Waiting for it to come back in September. Engin "promised" that the second season will be even better than the first.
Hope to share a patio with you soon.
Quote for Turkish ep 14: "Killing a person is easy, but the blood splatters into the soul. The soul of a murderer bleeds."—Tolstoy
Ilgaz wonders if Engin did this to himself. What if he planned to run away? He’s already out of prison.
The DAs spring into action. Ilgaz tells Eren to send a unit to the hospital—Engin plans to escape. Pars makes a call to activate jandarma units and alert the hospital security.
Ceylin heads to the parking garage and spots the old red car used in the “escape” to Bodrum. She tries to leave a message for Ilgaz—Engin is trying to escape. Someone is helping him. I know you’ll be upset, but I’m going to follow him.
Ilgaz tells Pars he can’t reach Ceylin. She’s at the hospital. [remember she said, if I don’t answer, something happened to me.] Istanbul traffic slows them down.
Engin makes his way to the parking garage and gets in the car. The gun is in the glove box. And Ceylin is hiding in the back seat. He drives off.
The DAs and Eren arrive at the hospital. There are cops, security and jandarmas running about. Pars says to close all the exits and search for Engin everywhere. The jandarmas guarding Engin tell the DAs Engin has escaped. Ilgaz worries about Ceylin. Yekta and Lacin witness these happenings.
Pars says to inform police and close all borders, ports, heliports, and airports, immediately. He spots Yekta and rushes over. Where is your son? Yekta plays dumb. Pars repeats, where is Engin? Yekta plays dumb again.
Ilgaz searches for Ceylin. He tries calling her. Unavailable.
Somewhere in the woods, Ceylin wakes up on the ground. She’s dirty, disheveled, and disoriented. She has a gun in her hand. She sees the gun, gasps and drops it. She takes a few steps backwards and stumbles over something. A body? She drops something, her watch? She’s horrified and runs.
We go back six hours. The search for Engin continues at the hospital. Eren says he went out through the bathroom window. Ilgaz asks about Ceylin. Eren says she’s not here. She picked up papers for her family and left. Pars wants Yekta and Lacin taken to the courthouse for statements. Someone helped Engin escape.
Ilgaz is increasingly worried about Ceylin. Pars tries to reassure him. He orders Eren to send a unit to Ceylin’s house. Ilgaz doesn’t want the cops to say anything to the family, they are already upset about Zafer. Pars had no idea Zafer was missing.
Ilgaz wants to check security video. They see the moment when Ceylin and Engin crossed paths. There isn’t a good view of the parking garage. Not all cameras are working due to lack of maintenance. Pars says he’s going to hold the hospital security director and the hospital manager accountable.
Ilgaz goes to check the parking garage. He worries, where are you Ceylin?
Yekta and Lacin are brought in by police car. She whispers to her husband, did Engin escape? He doesn’t know. She asks, were you involved? He tells her to shut up. She continues, you were the last to see him. If you planned this, tell me. He desperately wants her to shut up. Look at where we are and who we are with.
Ilgaz tells Pars he found nothing in the garage. Ilgaz asks security to find all the plates and owners of the cars leaving the lot. Eren says Ceylin last used her phone after she saw Engin. Ilgaz concludes Engin and Ceylin are together. Pars doesn’t agree. Why would Engin take someone in his escape? Eren thinks he might have taken her as a hostage, a bargaining chip.
Ilgaz says maybe Engin doesn’t know Ceylin is with him. Maybe she snuck into the car. She went to stop him. Pars says, yes, she loves the adrenaline rush and isn’t at all sensible. She chases after criminals as if she was an officer. Typical Ceylin. I hope she doesn’t get in trouble. [Too late.] He snarks, or maybe she’s eating donuts somewhere in Istanbul. That’s possible, too.
Pars heads off to the courthouse to find out how the parents planned the escape of their beloved son. Ilgaz and Eren head outside to the garage exit. Police show pictures of Engin and Ceylin to people at the hospital. No cameras at the garage exit. Eren suggests checking the street cameras. They are still waiting for the list of cars coming from the garage. Ilgaz and Eren head to the station.
Yekta is called into Pars’ office. Lacin calls Seda to tell her Engin escaped. She’s shocked. Lacin says they were brought to the courthouse to give statements. Yekta is going first. Seda says she’s on her way.
Pars questions Yekta. Yekta thinks this was Engin’s plan. Pars doesn’t buy it. How could he have planned his escape? Yekta says it’s possible, we know what he’s capable of. I’m surprised that you’re surprised by this. Pars counters, your son wakes up, sees his lawyer, you enter his room… and he vanishes. I think you helped him.
Yekta tries to put the blame on Seda. Why don’t you bring her in for a statement? She’s been on Engin’s side, not me. Pars says he already has Seda’s statement. You’re my suspect in this case. Yekta continues to deny knowledge of anything. Pars says Engin won’t get away. Borders, airports, etc., all have been notfied.
Yekta sticks with his story, Engin hates me, why would I help him? Pars notes that a short while ago Yekta begged him to find who was responsible for poisoning Engin. He asks, you don’t hate him anymore? You helped your son. Confess. Yekta says that was different. I thought he was dying. Put yourself in my shoes.
Yekta gets up and leans over Pars’ desk. No one will ever be able to hurt my son or my family, he says, I won’t allow it. I didn’t know he planned to escape. I don’t know how he did it.
A cop tells Ilgaz and Eren that one of the cars in the garage is registered to Engin. The car left at 3p. Ilgaz says to notify the traffic police. Tell them not to shoot, someone else is with the prisoner. Eren calls Pars to tell him about the car.
Lacin comes in to give her statement. Yekta wants to stay as her attorney. Pars asks, how did your son escape and where is he? She doesn’t know. Allah, allah, Pars says, the parents know nothing. Lacin says she didn’t see or talk to Engin after he woke up. Pars asks how they came to the hospital. By car, she replies, my driver took my car to the shop, so I borrowed Engin’s old car.
What a coincidence, Pars says, that’s the car Engin used to escape! Lacin looks at Yekta. She asks, what are you saying? Pars tells her to answer his question and not to look at Yekta. How did Engin escape in the car you were driving? She swears she doesn’t know.
How did you give him the keys, Pars asks, did you hide them? She swears again she doesn’t know. She checks her bag for the keys. Not there. Pars states, no car keys or Engin’s car or Engin. Everything is missing! Yekta objects. We tried to help but you treat us like criminals. Our son is missing, we are not involved.
Lacin signs her statement. Pars says thanks for nothing. I'll fill in the blanks how I want. Pars grabs Yekta before he leaves. You kidnapped your son, he whispers, the secret that concerned you so much was Engin’s ticket to freedom. I’ll destroy that ticket and the person who helped him. And I’ll learn your secret. Yekta replies, you know my secret casts a shadow on your reputation. We’ll take this little by little. I hope you don’t get in trouble.
Ilgaz and Eren find footage of Engin’s car. They can clearly see his face. They don’t see Ceylin, but Ilgaz is sure she is with him. Eren says he will kiss her hand, she hid well. It looks like Engin doesn’t know she’s there. Ilgaz is upset. Do you think this is an achievement? Don’t you know the trouble she’s in? He’s a killer! She got in his car! Do you know what he’ll do if he finds her? Don’t say that, Eren replies. He tugs his ear and knocks. Don’t think bad. We must think about it, Ilgaz says, we have to consider all possibilities. Ceylin is in danger.
Seda comes to see Pars. He gives her two minutes to talk before he leaves. She’s here because Lacin explained the situation. She asks, did Engin really escape? I don’t know, Pars replies, you tell me. If I knew, she answers, I wouldn’t have come to you. Maybe you’re doing it to deflect suspicion from yourself, he posits. It’s a common strategy used by people who are working together. You appeared out of the blue to change Engin’s fate.
Seda says, he’s poisoned, and you thought it was me. He escaped and you blame me. Why would I help him if I planned to poison him? Pars replies, if you look at it my way, it makes sense. You used a small dose to get him to the hospital, then you helped him escape. Seda snarks, I majored in law, not chemistry. You’re too imaginative.
Pars continues, it was your book, your prints were on it. You’re too bold for the average suspect. You’re arrogant and conceited and I don’t like that at all. Seda insists she didn’t poison Engin and didn’t help him escape and she will prove it. Great, Pars replies, were going to catch Engin and we’d appreciate your cooperation. If you excuse me, I’m going to the police station.
Neva chases Pars as he walks. He stops and turns, you’re following me and calling me “brother”? You finally remember me? Too late. Are you ignoring me, she asks. Yes, Neva, I won’t talk to you from now on. He goes.
Ilgaz and Eren continue to follow video of Engin. He made it to Umraniye (a district in Istanbul). They try to figure out where he is going. They see him take a back street. They still can’t see if Ceylin is in the car. She could be hiding or she never got in, Eren says. Ilgaz is positive that Ceylin is in the car. Eren heads off to Ceylin’s house.
An officer knocks at the Erguvan’s door. Aylin thinks there’s news about Zafer. The cop says, we’re her for Ceylin Erguvan. Is she here? Aylin says she’s not home. What is it about? The cops say the DA wants to question her, but she’s not answering her phone. Aylin says she couldn’t reach her either. Osman shows up. He says Ceylin didn’t answer his call and she’s not at her office. The cop says to let them know if she calls. The cops leave.
Aylin asks Osman why he went to Ceylin’s office. He had a question. Parla didn’t get those pills herself. Engin threatened her, but he didn’t make her take them. Where did she get them? I wanted to know if Ceylin knew something. Osman says he will ask Parla and deal with whoever gave the pills to her. Aylin stops him. This is not the time. Let her recover first.
A woman sees a missing flyer for Zafer. She’s seen him. She is the woman who approached Zafer and Cinar to ask if they wanted flowers for the cemetery. She calls the number on the flyer. It goes to voice message. She says, I don’t know who you are, but I’m calling regarding Zafer. I saw him with a crazy looking 20 year old at the cemetery. It was strange how they stared and shoved each other. If you find Zafer thanks to me, let me know. Ask for Gulfer at the cemetery.
Pars asks Ilgaz for an update. Nothing. Ilgaz asks about the statements. No one saw, heard or knows. They played dumb, Pars says. Lacin drove Engin’s car to the hospital. Hers is in the shop. Ilgaz notes they are suspect.
Officer Umut says that Yekta has offices in Atasehir (district of Istanbul) and Kavakkoy (on the European side of Turkey, close to the Aegean and Marmara Seas). He also owns a house in Sariyer, Yenikoy (an Istanbul district, Yenikoy is a neighborhood there). Pars and Eren will go there. Ilgaz asks to have a word with Pars.
Metin returns home and he’s greeted by Makbule. Where is he, he asks, is he still here? Who? Dad? Yes, your father, Metin replies. He hasn’t left, Makbule says, why would he go? Where would he go? Metin goes to Merdans’ room and starts to pack his belongings. He can go to the place where he abandoned us. Makbule tries to stop him. Metin warns her not to interfere.
Makbule snaps back, you don’t want me to interfere? Why shouldn’t I? I haven’t interfered in years. You made the rules, I followed them…then what happened? We lived without a father. We were separated from him. Why can’t you understand that he wants a good home? Some peace of mind before he dies. People who will help carry his coffin and pray for him. Is it too much to ask for him to be with his grandchildren? [poor clueless Makbule]
Metin responds, you’ve always been like this. You’re so naïve. Do you know what he’s been doing? She says he did it for his people. Despite his sins, he’s still our father and he loves us. Your rules won’t make him change. She makes a stand. I won’t let my father leave this house, or my name isn’t Makbule. If you kick him out, my home is downstairs. He will stay in my house. I won’t let him die in an unknown place. And I won’t let anyone hurt my family, Metin promises.
Ceylin stumbles through the woods. She comes to a path, where two joggers, a man and a woman, come by. They stop and ask her, are you alright? Did something happen? Did you have an accident? Ceylin is too traumatized to answer. Are you alone? If you have a phone we can call your family. The man says to call the police. Ceylin walks away.
Eren takes the police call. A woman with long brown hair has been reported as injured, near Sariyer, Yenikoy. She’s walking on the road by herself. Pars thinks it could be Ceylin. Pars calls Ilgaz with the update.
Metin asks Cinar if he was with Merdan. Yes. Metin is ticked. Are you doing this to annoy me? I don’t want you working there. Why don’t you listen? Grandpa’s café is great, Cinar answers, people play games there. I talked to him and he agreed. I’m in charge of the register and the books. Metin is not happy. Cinar says, I worked there today, and I’m going back tomorrow.
Metin slams his hand on the table. I don’t want you to, understand?! You’re not going to work there and he is leaving this house. Cinar asks Metin to come to his room so they don’t talk in front of Makbule.
Cinar tells his Dad he can’t let Merdan leave. Metin is plenty steamed. I told you to stay away from him! You didn’t like him, and now you do? He’s going to leave and you’re not going to work for him! Cinar says, you don’t know what’s going on. Engin threatened me. He found out about Zafer and told me to confess. Grandpa helped me. I’m not in prison thanks to him. You can’t send him away. Do it for me.
Metin goes to see Merdan in his room. The kid was poisoned in prison, he says. What kid, Merdan asks. You know who I am talking about, Metin replies, you can’t fool me. His attorney, Seda Gokmen, is a suspect. You shut her up? Should I include you on the list? It was you… you poisoned Engin.
Merdan smiles, I’m sorry, but I didn’t. I always see a job through and don’t forget that. Metin tells Merdan he can stay for now, but he should find a place asap. Metin leaves and Grandpa settles back easy on his bed.
Ilgaz spots Ceylin walking. The cops are right behind. He goes to her. Ceylin, what did you do? She recoils from him. She’s in shock and doesn’t speak. She doesn’t even look at him. Are you okay, he asks. He’s alarmed. Tell me you’re okay. Nothing.
The rest of the searchers approach. Ilgaz puts his hand out to hold them back. He tells Ceylin he’s putting his coat around her. Slowly. It’s okay, you’re safe now. Talk to me. He goes to get some water for her.
Pars wants the officers to look around, Engin could still be nearby.
Ceylin is in bad shape. Ilgaz tells her not to be scared, he’s with her. She’s hurt. He wants to take her to the hospital. We’ll go together. Ceylin puts her hand on her head. There’s blood.
And we are out.
Thank you, dondi356.
It was unwise for Ceylin to hide in the car and go with Engin. So dangerous. He is a murder suspect trying to escape from prison. She could have taken the car keys and run to call the police. Can't wait to see what really happened that night.
Thanks VERY much, novelera, for another excellent recap.
I'm always happy when you include Spanish. I'm going to try to remember ¡Púdrete or muérete, me da lo mismo!. Who knows when it might come in handy! :-)
Yes, I see you were right in identifying the co-pilot as the kidnapper from way back. Oh well, I'm happy that at least she looked somewhat familiar.
I confess that I was a bit surprised by how much emotion Chuy felt for Olga in the episode's two scenes, one when she was still alive, the other when she had died. He even thanks God for giving him Olga as his mother. That seemed a bit much to me, given the hard-hearted killer Chuy has become, but....
Yes, what we saw of the outside of the beach house was very different and MUCH uglier than the photo.
I too was surprised when Chuy didn't shoot FJ. I hope you're right about it being a good sign for Adriana's survival. She certainly has said and done all kinds of things in the past few episodes that suggest she deserves to live.
I wondered what it was that Chuy pulls out near the end of the episode. I like your idea of a wig, but who would it be for? Adriana? Chuy? ??
I just took a look at Zap2It. It indicates that the last episode of Juego de Mentiras will be the one at midnight next Wednesday, July 5 (which many of us think of as Tuesday night). It will be episode 82, according to Zap2It. As deb has already announced, Betty in NY will replace Juego at midnight starting on Thursday, July 6. Believe it or not, Top Chef will run every weekday from 7-10 pm starting on July 6. Secretos de Sangre will continue as usual in the 10PM time slot. I wonder whether this was the plan from the start, or whether it indicates a change in the schedule caused by an upcoming novela's not being ready.
Thanks again, dondi. I think I've seen that device of showing something a bit shocking and then going back to fill in the blanks in other dizis. Thanks for mentioning Ceylin stumbling over something that could have been deceased Engin. I missed that. And, as always, whether dizis or telenovelas, innocent people grasp a gun or knife so as to leave incriminating fingerprints.
Somehow I doubt Engin is dead. It's looking that way from what we saw last night. But he's been so evil, it's hard to think they'd kill him off so soon.
I enjoy Pars and Ilgaz working together. They make a good team.
Maybe this was only in the Spanish translation, but I got a kick out of Pars saying Ceylin lives on adrenaline instead of oxygen.
I also enjoyed Seda's response to Pars about not majoring in chemistry. I'm softening toward her a bit.
Wow. Pars behaves like a scorned lover instead of a brother when he says he won't be speaking to Neva anymore. Is this a cultural thing? I can't in my wildest dreams imagine my brother being so possessive of me.
Merdan and Engin share the ability to annoy me with their smug smirks. Merdan showed one when he was on the bed after Metin left the room. I can't tell if Merdan's cultivating of Cinar is meant in a kindly way, as any grandfather might, or if he's trying to guide him down the wrong path to get revenge on Metin for rejecting him.
I hope we get answers tonight about what happened between Engin and Ceylin in that forest.
Thank you for the detailed recaps, dondi. I've been watching Mujer on Univision, and during commercials get a peek at Secrets, so the recaps are invaluable. Last night and tonight I am watching Secrets, due to soccer on Uni.
Do you know what the Spanish language theme song is? I can't find the name.
It's nice to see that Kaan U. isn't typecast as a bad guy. He's such a tender guy, in a repressed, gruff way here. And honorable. Big change.
Beth S
Juanita, I just watched my recording of this episode. It looked like Chuy was holding a long , brunette wig .
His scenes with Olga were sad. I think he truly loved her because she was the one who truly loved and took care of him . When I was feeling sorry for him as the poor, young, buff gardener being used by the rich, worked senator,I remembered being charmed by him chatting with Olga while drying the dishes. Aww, what a big, sweet teddy bear this guy is. The writers sure tricked me until I recognized that big frame in the bunny suit . Bad Bunny.
Big Ed looked pretty good in prison .
Thanks, Susan (Susanlynn?), for confirmation about the wig. I'm wondering, though, who will wear it.
And yes, Big Ed did indeed look pretty good in prison!
Thank you, Lucio and novelera, for keeping the conversation going. It’s great to see you here, Beth S. Glad the recaps are helpful for you.
I saw your comment, Babachita. There’s a group of us who would like to replace the memory of Emir with a better memory of Ilgaz.
The theme song is “Te Echo De Menos” - Ricardo Montaner

She could have taken the car keys and run to call the police” ITA, Lucio. But that would be too easy. Ceylin is in big trouble now.
“Pars behaves like a scorned lover instead of a brother when he says he won't be speaking to Neva anymore.” Yep, strange behavior from the start, novelera. We don’t know anything about Pars and Neva’s family history. Maybe that would give us an explanation. Pars is a quirky character and I like him.
Who knows if Merdan really cares for his family or if he’s using them.
Recap will be up later today.
Dondi, I just can't catch up with this show at this point. I , too, would like to watch another show with you. When I look at that guy , I hear his spacey cellphone ring.
I wonder if any good dizis are coming to Telemundo or Uni. I am watching a very good telenovela on Uni " El Amor Invenvible" .
Ilgaz gently leads Ceylin to his car. He carefully explains every step they take, as not to upset Ceylin further.
Pars approaches Ilgaz. Who knows what happened to her, he says, she looks terrible. We will look over the entire area.
Ceylin has a brief recollection of stumbling backwards over something on the ground and being horrified.
Ilgaz gets in the car and asks if she’s okay. No response. He drives off.
Pars gives orders. Notify all police stations in the area. We need backup. We’ll search the area thoroughly. He sends Eren to Yekta’s house, which is near the scene.
Sure enough, Engin’s red car is at the house. Eren proceeds cautiously, with a flashlight and his gun at the ready. Ceylin’s bag is in there and her cell phone is on the ground, outside the car. Eren reports to the base and asks for backup. He tries to enter the house but can’t get in.
Officer Umut gives Pars the update from Eren. They head to the house. Pars looks at Engin’s car. He sees the bag and the phone. Eren says it seems no one has been in the house for a long time. They left after getting out of the car. Then they headed to the woods, Pars says, Ceylin’s clothes were covered in dirt and mud.
Eren gets a transmission. A body was found in the woods. He was shot. Eren looks at Pars, are you thinking what I’m thinking? [and what we are thinking] They hurry back to the woods.
Lol, Cinar is in his room, looking at cat videos on his phone! Metin knocks. Cinar asks, are you mad at me for defending Grandpa? [Turkish] No, Metin replies, he still would have clung to you, even if you didn’t want it. You don’t know him. That’s not why I’m here. I have a question, why didn’t you come to me when Engin threatened you? Why did you ask him for help instead of me?
Cinar is reluctant to answer. Metin asks for the truth. I’m still ashamed, Cinar says, if you had helped me, you’d still be judging me for what I did. I see and feel it. I get mad at myself. I’m ashamed of the first time I lied to you, and I curse the plight I’m going through. I’m sick of feeling this way. Grandpa doesn’t question me. He understands and fixes things.
The convo is interrupted when Metin gets a call. A dead body was found in Yenikoy. The DA needs you asap. Metin shoots a look at Cinar. That’s the look, Cinar says, that’s the answer to your question. Every time the phone rings, you’re afraid they found a dead body. Do you see why I reached out to Grandpa?
Back to the woods. The corpse is Engin. Pars cautions Eren not to touch anything. Call Homicide and the medical examiner. Eren is in a trance. Pars has to snap him out of it. We get a glimpse of the gun and the watch that Ceylin dropped.
IlCey arrive at the hospital. Ilgaz explains, they will examine you. They will take care of your head wound. He assures her, there’s nothing to be afraid of, I’m with you. I’ll always be here. He asks, do you want me to call your mother and sister? Looking straight ahead, she shakes her head, no. He helps her out of the car and into the hospital.
A female officer meets them at the entrance. Pars called ahead to let them know. A room is ready, the doctor is waiting. Ilgaz tells Ceylin they will take her to triage and he will wait right outside.
Ceylin enters the room, and she is carefully undressed by the police officers, who are gloved and masked. Photos are taken of everything, including Ceylin’s unclothed body. Her mouth is swabbed. A sample is taken from her head wound. Her fingernails are swabbed and cut. Everything is carefully catalogued. The doctor comes in. She asks, what’s your name? Ceylin just stares straight ahead. The Dr. proceeds with the exam.

Ilgaz asks the officers how Ceylin is doing. She may have a concussion. She’s bruised all over but it’s hard to tell the source. She seems to be aware of her head wound. There are no signs of sexual assault. The only bleeding is on her head.
Ceylin is wheeled out of the exam room. The Dr. orders a CT scan. Ilgaz volunteers to take Ceylin.
The investigation in the woods continues. Eren gives Metin a rundown. Two bullet shells were found… and a ladies watch. The gun is a 9mm. There’s a mark from a body and some footprints. Metin asks if that’s Ceylin’s watch. Eren isn’t sure. Metin notes there are bungalows and hotels around the area. Treat the residents and employees as potential witnesses. Two shots were fired, find out if anyone heard them.
Pars calls Eren over. Take all these items to the office and ballistics. Have them check for fingerprints.
Pars asks the ME for an assessment. The bullet struck his heart between the ribs at close range. It went through his heart and out the back through the ribs. Pars orders Eren to look for the bullets. In the Turkish, Pars asks for the approximate time of death—about 3 hours before.
The Dr. explains Ceylin’s condition might be due to the head trauma. When will she recover, Ilgaz asks. The Dr. says Ceylin was dehydrated, but she will get better soon with the IV. She had painkillers and a sedative. If you need anything, contact the nursing staff.
Ilgaz goes to Ceylin’s room. He sits beside her on the bed. I talked to your doctor, she said you’re fine. You’ll get better soon. He puts his hand on her shoulder. If you get some sleep, you’ll recover faster. Still no response from Ceylin. Ilgaz gets up and pulls a chair beside the bed.
Engin is bagged and carried away. Eren finds one of the bullets. Pars says they found fingerprints on the gun. They could find a match within a few hours. Eren says, it makes no difference to us if Engin is dead or alive. The second bullet is found.
Eren calls Ilgaz with the update. They found Engin. One bullet through the heart. The gun is being examined now. Eren asks about Ceylin. She’s in shock but she’s okay. Ilgaz stays by Ceylin’ bedside.
Pars is pensive. He says to Metin, how can you tell parents that their child is dead? Metin says it’s the hardest part of the job. Pars continues, we stand in front of a corpse, ask where, how, who hurt them. Those questions hound us. Then we turn around, leave and file a report. It’s just a victim to us, but to someone else, it’s a loved one. It’s very strange. Metin agrees and adds, after a while you get thick-skinned. We don’t get shocked or moved by anything. There’s a new corpse every day, a new death.
Metin offers to help. He’ll or have someone else do it. Pars replies, running or hiding is pointless. I’ll call them.
Yekta answers his phone. What’s happened? Did you find him? We did, Pars answers. He pauses, then says, “başınız sağolsun” – my condolences. Lacin walks into the room. What do you mean, Yekta replies to Pars, what happened to my son? Lacin asks what happened. Pars can’t find the words. Hello? Pars? What did you do to my son? Hello!
Lacin starts to panic, is Engin alright? What happened to my son? Tell me Engin is alright! Pars remains silent. Yekta starts shouting at Pars. Tell me what you did to him! Pars finally answers, he was found last night in the woods near Yenikoy. He was shot. Yekta is stunned. Pars says they are still waiting for the ME report. End call. Lacin is worried sick. Yekta can’t answer.
Ceylin wakes up. Ilgaz says good morning. She looks around and starts to get up. She moans. Ilgaz helps her. He tells her to take it easy. It’s okay. He sits beside her on the bed. I’m here with you. Don’t be afraid. He asks, are you okay? She shakes her head, no.
Ilgaz says, I don’t know what happened to you. I can’t begin to imagine. You can tell me whenever you’re ready. She looks at him, then says, I can’t remember. She cries, I can’t remember anything. It’s okay, Ilgaz replies. Ceylin rests her head on his shoulder and continues to cry.
Umut brings a report to Eren and Pars. A match on the prints. Metin enters the office. The report is passed around, but no one talks. We get a commercial break instead. But I think we all know who the match is.
Ilgaz encourages Ceylin to wash up and eat. Take a shower if you want. A female officer arrives. She needs to do a procedure. Ceylin can’t wash yet, she needs another screening. Ilgaz questions this. The officer is looking for gunshot residue. [google info on GSR if you are interested] The officer is done and Ilgaz tells Ceylin he’s leaving the room but will be right back.
Ilgaz tries to stop the officer, but he runs into Eren instead. What’s going on? Eren has bad news. Pars has ordered Ceylin’s arrest. She’s a suspect in Engin’s murder. Ilgaz is pissed and asks, you believe that? Eren looks sad, he just shakes his head, no. Eren tells him that Ceylin’s watch was found at the scene and her prints were found on the possible murder weapon.
This is not possible, Ilgaz replies. You think Ceylin is capable of killing a man? [I’ll admit I wondered about that earlier in the series] There must have been another gun at the scene! Nope, no other gun. I don’t think she did it, Eren says, but I have to arrest her because the evidence points to her. Ilgaz can’t accept this. He wants to check the crime scene report himself and says he doubts the prints on the gun are hers. Looks like Ceylin hears this. Her tears fall. She covers her ears.
Eren enters the room and does his duty as gently as possible. Ceylin, kraliçem, God forgive me. It breaks my heart but you’re under arrest as a suspect in Engin Tilmen’s murder. The doctor will examine you, and if you’re okay, I’ll take you to the station. I’m very sorry. The female officer takes out cuffs. Eren immediately tells her to put them away.
Ilgaz tells Ceylin he will find the truth and prove them wrong. Don’t be afraid. Ceylin gets washed and dressed and she’s taken out of the hospital. Ilgaz tells her that Eren will take care of her. He entrusts Ceylin to Eren. Where are you going, Eren asks Ilgaz with concern. Ilgaz will not sit by idly. Eren warns him, Pars gave specific instructions. He said not to let you near the crime scene or collect evidence. He said the collaboration is over.
Ilgaz shouts, Over? This is just getting started! Ceylin is charged with a murder she didn’t commit! To hell with Pars. Eren says alright, get what you want, but don’t get Pars upset. He’ll take it out on you.
Yekta and Lacin identify Engin. Lacin is destroyed. Yekta is restrained but he’s affected.
Eren questions Ceylin. She can’t remember anything.
Ilgaz calls his father and he knows about Ceylin, she’s at the station now. Ilgaz wants Metin to go and inform Ceylin’s family. He asks why. They have suffered enough, Ilgaz replies, tell them gently that this is temporary and I’m on their side. What are you going to do, Metin asks, all the evidence points to her. Are we going to lie or fool adults? Ilgaz insists this isn’t a lie, Ceylin wouldn’t have done this.
Yekta catches up with Pars, grabs him and spins him around. He demands, who did this? First get your hands off me, Pars replies, I respect your pain, but be patient. We’re still investigating. You must discover who did this, Yekta says. Pars tells him to calm down and take care of Lacin. I’ll keep you informed, he says.
Pars checks in with Eren. Ceylin is at the station. Pars tells him to get her statement. Eren says Ceylin can’t remember anything. Pars asks if she might be faking. Eren says no, Ceylin is in shock. It’s in her medical report. Pars says he’s on the way to court, bring Ceylin there.
Umut tells Eren that Ozlem is doing better and was discharged from the hospital.
Yekta supports Lacin as they leave the morgue. My son… my son… she laments. She suddenly and angrily pulls away from Yekta. Let go! He tries to calm her. My son is dead, she cries, how do you expect me to calm down? I saw his lifeless body. They destroyed his heart! Yekta tells her let’s mourn at home.
He pulls her close. She pushes him away. Get your hands off me! My son is dead because of you! He was my son, too, Yekta replies. You think this doesn’t hurt me? Lacin has her doubts. You feel sorry for the one day you loved him? You didn’t even hug him once! You don’t know his scent, but I do.
Yekta tries to get her in the car. He tells her, you’re embarrassing me. She shouts, no! You’re a disgrace! Let everyone know, you did this! If you hadn’t tried to kidnap him, my son wouldn’t have died. This wouldn’t have happened! Yekta is angry. He desperately wants her to get in the car. Lacin continues to shout, he’d be in jail but alive! It’s your fault!
Cuneyt shows up with the news they have a suspect—Ceylin. She’s been arrested.
Yekta storms the station demanding to see Ceylin. He’s held back by Cuneyt and Eren. He rips into Ceylin. How could you do this to my son? Did you get your revenge? Are you happy Engin is dead? She doesn’t look at him. The men try to remove Yekta from the room.
Yekta continues to shout, he abandoned his father for you, and you killed him. You’ll pay for this! I asked if you poisoned him, and you asked what I would do if that was the case. You’ll see what it means to kill Yekta Tilmen’s son! Eren has finally had enough. He threatens to arrest Yekta. Yekta leaves with Cuneyt.
Ilgaz goes to the crime scene. He’s told they came from a certain direction. Bushes are crushed and there are broken branches. Ilgaz asks about footprints. Yes, they walked together. There probably was a scuffle. There were footprints all over the place. Then they headed off, there were footprints in another direction. The victim was 5’8. He was shot while standing. There were two gunshots. One hit, one missed. They are checking to see if the shells match.
Pars calls Ilgaz and tells him to leave the scene immediately. Ilgaz replies, and if I don’t? Pars will open a case for obstruction of justice. Ilgaz hangs up on him. Ilgaz asks to see the written report.
Seda shows up at Pars’ office. She says, you didn’t believe me, you blamed me. You accused me of poisoning my nephew. I brought this to show you I was telling the truth. It’s footage showing the messenger took the book. It was a set up. She demands that Pars review it.
I will, Pars replies with little interest. If it is relevant we will remove your name from the file. What do you mean, Seda asks, it is very relevant. I want to prove my innocence and go back home. Pars breaks the news, your client, your nephew, Engin Tilmen was found dead in the woods near Yenikoy. He was shot. Seda is stunned.
And we are out.
I am a bit confused with the schedule. So Juego will end on early Wednesday? How will that be episode 82 since Friday's was 74? And I thought that Juego ends with 80 episodes? So many questions...
Weirdo, I too am mystified. I just put up the Telemundo y Más pages for next week, and to do that I had to double check with both the feeble Telemundo Program Guide and with Zap2It. According to Zap2It, the episode we'll see at 12AM on Tuesday is "Season 1, episode 75." That agrees with the numbering we've seen up to now. But yes, the entry in Zap2It for the next day, Wednesday, July 5, is "Season 1, episode 82." And then there's no more mention of Juego de Mentiras. Starting at 12AM on Thursday, Betty en NY takes over the midnight time slot, with the same 4-day schedule as we saw with Juego. As for the "Season 1" business, perhaps they always do that during the first year, regardless of whether there's a season 2. Frankly, given the terrible way Telemundo handled Juego, I'm extremely doubtful that they've planned a second season.
BTW, Zap2It also provides an episode title for episode 75: "Una vida por otra." They say nothing about a title to Wednesday's episode 82, nor any hnt of what happened to episodes 76-81. Sigh.
As a sign of Telemundo's desperation or insanity or both, they've scheduled Top Chef VIP to run from 7 to 10 PM once Juego is over!
Thank you, dondi356.
What happened in the woods? The information appears bit by bit. The investigators shouldn't forget the background: the murder suspect was trying to commit another crime - escape from custody. Ceylin was trying to prevent that. It could be some sort of self-defense shooting.
Ilgaz is trying to do everything possible for Ceylin. He needs to get her a lawyer asap.
Thanks again, dondi! Rather late to the party. Well, we all knew when we saw Ceylin pick up that gun that she'd somehow be in the soup. I was wrong in thinking that Engin was not killed, but still worried about her picking up the gun when I saw it. It seems the writers have gone with her being in advanced shock. As an attorney, she probably wouldn't have picked up that gun if she'd been "with it".
I loved the way Ilgaz cared for her. He was so careful, telling her each thing as he was about to do it, say, close the car door, so as not to frighten her. And that he'd now put on her seat belt in case leaning over her startled her.
And the actor portraying Ceylin is doing a fine job of appearing to be in shock. She doesn't react to anything, not even Yekta's screaming at her. I'm furious they let him so close to her.
I'm too tired to research GSR. But, would she have that residue if she wasn't holding the gun when it was fired and only picked it up from the ground afterwards? I guess I'm wondering if the GSR comes from the firing of the gun caused by holding it while it's fired.
Pars is probably right that Ilgaz shouldn't be at the crime scene. He's the husband of the accused. But the man's in love and looking for something to clear the woman he loves.
Thanks for taking time to read and comment, Lucio and novelera.
I wonder if Seda will become Ceylin’s lawyer. Parallel of Ceylin-Cinar.
Wonderful the way Ilgaz cared for Ceylin. No wonder why Neva didn’t want to lose him.
Ceylin dropped the watch. It looked like she woke up with that gun in her hand and then dropped it. If she fired the gun, she would have residue on her hand. From what I read, it degrades over several hours, up to about 8 hours, and it can be washed and/or rubbed off in the meantime. The ME said Engin was killed approx. 3 hours prior to finding him. So the clock was ticking on the GSR.
Here’s my theory: Someone followed Engin. Seems like there’s always someone following somebody on this dizi. My money is on Merdan’s guys. Maybe that idiot Serdar? They could have set up Ceylin to be the shooter. There was one bullet that hit Engin and one that missed. Ceylin was unconscious, they could have put the gun in her hand and fired it, missing Engin. We’ve seen this in other shows.
Ilgaz shouldn’t be at the crime scene, but there will be no way of stopping him until Ceylin is cleared. Notice he’s a lot more insistent on Ceylin’s innocence than he was with Cinar.
Got to admit it’s hard not to look ahead at the Turkish eps. But I’m happy to have this opportunity to watch and speculate with viewers on the Caray patio.
