Yes, Lucio, “The paternity is a big surprise for Eren and he is upset that he didn't know all these years…” he was even more upset in the Turkish ep, Telemundo cut some of his sobbing. A couple of eps ago he was telling colleagues that having children wasn’t in his plans. But as soon as he had suspicions about Tugce, he clicked right into dad mode.

“Ilgaz needed to tell Ceylin about their fathers if they were going to start a relationship, even without the threat from Engin. ITA, Lucio. He needed to tell the truth for himself more than for Ceylin. Ilgaz is the Diogenes of Istanbul—truthfulness in all circumstances. All he needs is a lantern. “The threat took some merit out of his confession.” Ceylin will see it that way.

Thank you, novelera! You are 100% correct that Yekta was offering to give the firm to Seda. How could I leave that out?! I don’t know if we should believe that offer.

I also like Pars more and more as we go on. I liked how Ilgaz described his faults and virtues.

Serdar and Cinar were busted for drugs. IIRC, Cinar hid the drugs in Defne’s teddy bear and Ilgaz found them. This case got placed on hold because of Inci’s murder.

I’m sure Tugce will eventually be happy to have Eren as her dad. But since this is a dizi, she will likely blame him for “abandoning” her at first.

That nagging question: who took Zafer?

secrets #23 part 1

Ceylin bangs on Metin’s door. Defne answers and greets her with a happy hug. Metin comes to the door and can tell by the look on Ceylin’s face that she knows. He sends Defne off. Ilgaz enters the apartment, too.

Is this the way you are honest, Ceylin asks? You left us without a father. It was five years. He was never around when I needed him most. Not just me but the whole family, especially Inci. Did you think about how it would have been if my father had been home? Inci might have been alive today.

Ceylin sobs, she wouldn’t have gotten her hands dirty. Her father would have taken care of her because he had a decent job. Maybe she wouldn’t have been a drug dealer. She wouldn’t have felt like an abandoned child or taken refuge in her teacher, as if she was looking for a father. How dare you condemn my innocent father?

Metin feels smaller than a poppy seed. I wish I had something to tell you, he says, I wish I could throw myself at your feet and beg forgiveness. I know what I did is unforgivable. I can’t change anything. I’ve been carrying this burden for years.

Ceylin rips into Metin. Of course… you have an honest job and all your children are alive! You always talk about honesty. You took me into your home, and I sat at your table. I sat on the sofa, and you looked me in the eyes. She asks, is this the reason you are looking for my father now? [ugh] Metin shakes his head.

Ceylin tells Metin he will pay for this. You’ll confess and say you are dishonest and a liar. You will be judged and go to jail. If you can’t do that, I will. I won’t give up. You’ll be punished. You’ll be separated from your children. She turns to Ilgaz and asks, is this what Engin threatened you with? Ilgaz nods.

Ceylin leaves and finds Defne outside the door, crying. No Ceylin, please don’t, the little girl pleads, will my father go to prison? Will I ever see him again? Ceylin can’t answer. Defne hugs her and sobs, I don’t want him to go to prison. Don’t let him leave me.

Flashback. Ceylin remembers when her father was arrested. She swore she would prove his innocence and not give up. He entrusted her with the house, her mother, and her sisters. He tells her he’s innocent. End.

Defne asks her to save her father like she saved Cinar. Ceylin cries and hugs Defne. Then she leaves.

Defne cries to Metin, please don’t leave us. Promise you won’t leave. He promises.

Ceylin walks back to the Kaya house and finds Ilgaz in the yard. How long did you know, she asks, from the beginning? More or less, he replies. Is it more or is it less, Ceylin asks. He doesn’t answer. She asks, when I stayed at your place? He gives a slight nod yes. She asks, when we got married? Ilgaz nods again. Why didn’t you tell me, she asks, did you know this all along? When you hugged me the first time? When you came to my house? I was feeling bad that day.

Ilgaz answers, that was the day I found out. Ceylin pushes him and cries, why did you let me believe in you? She pushes again--why did you let me trust you? Another push … why did you let me fall in love with you?! Why? And she falls into his arms.

Ilgaz responds, do you think I don’t feel the same way? Do you think I’m not crazy about you? I couldn’t help it. I wanted to be with you. I couldn’t tell you. You had enough pain. I thought we’d get divorced once we found the killer. Day by day you got deeper into my mind and heart. I didn’t want to lose you. I don’t want to lose you now. I want to hold you and never let you go. She pushes away from him. He asks her not to go. But she goes.

What is that van with the stuff that Ilgaz is bashing?

Yekta says, let’s pray that Seda will accept my offer and end this torture. Lacin calls and says Seda didn’t accept. Yekta asks Pars, what are we going to do now? [I’d say it’s bad when Yekta is at a loss] Pars says beyond what Engin might propose to your SIL, I think you’ll find a solution [baklava?] Yekta shoots back, I hope that you, too, will find a solution.

Uh oh, Pars is having trouble with his arm.

Merdan sits down with Cinar. What’s the matter? You walk around like a chicken with its head cut off. Cinar denies anything is wrong. Merdan calls him “torunum” (my grandson) and Cinar snaps back, don’t call me grandson, I’m not your grandson! Why should I answer to you? You’ve been here two days! Now you want me to call you Grandpa? Cinar reaches into his pocket and puts the money on the table. Tell your men to bring me the passport. I don’t have time.

Merdan loses his temper. He stands and bangs on the table. Listen! You are before Merdan Kaya! I’m not like your father or brother. Stop messing with me! There’s no passport for you. You may be my grandson but I’ll break your neck! No one will find your damn bones! Leave! Go! Cinar reaches to take the money from the table and Merdan pounds the boy’s hand with his fist.

Where the hell are you getting this money, Merdan growls. Don’t tell me you’re stealing. Get out of my sight! Cinar leaves and Merdan counts the money. Merdan orders his henchie to find out about Cinar’s problem.

Serdar is ticked with Cinar. Why didn’t you tell me Merdan is your grandfather? Do you want me to be killed? Cinar thinks it’s no big deal. Serdar is freaked and says he wants no part of this. Cinar asks, why are you so afraid?

Flashback. Serdar saw Zafer take Cinar at gunpoint! He followed them to the cemetery. He saw them board the bus. And he called Engin to inform him. Engin tells him to follow them, get the license plate of the bus and send it to him. Follow them closely.

More flashback. We see Serdar and that guy from the store digging a grave. Engin calls. Serdar says we buried him. And the gun? Serdar has it. No one saw you, Engin asks. Serdar assures him no one saw. Serdar asks about “that other thing.” Engin says we’ll talk later.

Still another flashback. Serdar asks Cinar for his new phone number when he gets it. Cinar tells him his aunt is going to get him a second hand phone. We see Makbule at the phone shop, picking up the phone. Serdar is lurking outside. End flashbacks.

Serdar says he has nothing to hide. Cinar is the one in trouble. Your grandfather was in the game, and you didn’t tell me. I have nothing to do with this. What’s wrong with your family, Serdar asks, do they have a dark side? Watch your words, Cinar warns. Serdar says not to call him. Let’s not see each other for a while.

"Ceylin blows her stack!" (thanks, novelera) as she storms into Eren’s office. I believed you, bastard! She clears stuff off his desk with a swipe of her hand. I thought you were my friend! I opened my heart to you. I thought I found someone I could trust! But you lied to me!

Eren hardly knows what hit him. Allah aşkına, sakin ol. He asks, what did I do now? You lied, she shouts, you tricked me! He swears he didn’t do anything like that. Do you think I would? Tell me the truth, she asks, did you know Chief Metin condemned my father? Eren is surprised. Do you think Metin would do something like that? She fires back, he did it! Ilgaz looked me in the eye and confessed that he hid it from me!

 

secrets #23 part 3

Eren is floored. He pieces it together. That’s why he didn’t want you to be Cinar’s lawyer. The rent payment, Inci’s scholarship. Ceylin has no idea what he’s talking about. Eren says let’s get some fresh air.

Cinar comes home and finds Ilgaz sitting in that van, despondent and drinking. Are you okay, he asks. You loved this van. You put a lot of effort into it. How could you destroy it? I don’t have dreams anymore, Ilgaz replies, I gave up. I don’t know how I could lose her? Who did you lose, Cinar asks. Ilgaz says, Dad will tell you.

Cinar goes to Metin for the explanation. Today we took away your brother’s dreams, Metin says, he discovered a secret about Zafer. Cinar wonders if it’s his Zafer secret. Nope. Metin says it’s something that happened long before this. Metin explains what he did to Zafer. He tells Cinar he doesn’t want him to make the same mistakes.

Metin continues, we have to be very careful now. Everyone knows Zafer disappeared. They are looking for him. If they find out he’s dead and find out we were the ones that caused it, I can’t live with the shame. I won’t be able to face your brother or anyone else. Cinar goes to his room and takes it out on the walls and on his bed.

Pars arrives home and sees Neva sitting with a file. I left it there so you could find it, he says. Neva tells him she recognized Feride and asked Ridvan about it. Pars asks why she did it. Was it worth it? She explains, when Ilgaz left me, I panicked. It hurt. I thought if I came to Istanbul and was with him, we would be fine. They got me and they said to me…

Pars interrupts, was it worth throwing away your career for Ilgaz? Forget him, he’s not worthy. What is love to you, he asks, how many days or months will it last? But this shame, this stain… was it worth it?

Neva shouts, you told me to be careful and he didn’t suit me. But when Ilgaz looked at me, he made me feel like the most beautiful woman alive. I felt safe and pretty. I didn’t feel that way in school or my career. Do you know how hard it is to find someone who makes you feel that way?! When it came to Ilgaz, I felt valued. I didn’t want to lose him! I was desperate!

Pars jumps from his chair. What are you talking about? You are the head of the high criminal court. You’re not weak. Do you think feeling helpless will get you out of this? What you did was a crime! If it had worked, you’d be in Ilgaz’s arms now. If this is discovered, you will lose your job.

Neva tells Pars, if you remain silent, nobody will find out. Send the woman away. Close the case. You want me to just close the case, Pars says, this woman’s file didn’t come from out of nowhere. Someone sent it to me! I was told to betray you and tell everyone what you did! I was told to file a complaint against you. I was threatened!

Pars continues, you know Engin? He killed Ceylin’s sister. He knows what you did. If I don’t confess, he will. Neva begs, no, no, no, please don’t do it brother! I just lost Ilgaz! I don’t want to lose my job! My hands are tied, Pars replies, I can’t do anything. Neva pleads and shouts, I’ll kill myself! She picks up a sharp object and holds it to her wrist. She’s frantic. Pars manages to take the object from Neva and pulls her into a hug. I promise I’ll take care of this, he tells his sister. She sobs.

Ceylin and Eren take a walk. Eren tells her to think, what if someone told you there was a way to save your sister? What would you do? I don’t want to think about that, she fires back. I don’t want to understand it. My dad was slandered. Ilgaz hid it. That’s it. Don’t defend your friend, the prosecutor.

 

secrets #23 part 4

Let’s say you’re right, Eren tells her, but if you break it down for me, I won’t discuss it further. Why is it Ilgaz’s fault? Besides, your sister is dead. Does that make it easy to tell everything? Ceylin asks, what fault do I have? I’m devastated. I thought there was a good man in this life, and I was wrong. There are no good men in this life. I don’t have anyone to take refuge in or to trust. She walks away from Eren.

Ilgaz comes to the station looking for Eren. He’s still out. Ilgaz goes to Missing Persons. Who’s in charge of Zafer Erguvan’s case? Fikri, but he’s not here. Ilgaz says to tell him to work harder and get this done quickly. Let’s find Zafer asap. Let me know anything, no matter what time it is.

Ilgaz runs into Eren outside the station. Where were you? With Ceylin. How is she, Ilgaz asks. She’s devastated, Eren replies. She told you that, Ilgaz asks. Yes. Ilgaz asks if Eren is mad at him. He isn’t. I know what it’s like to be ashamed of someone else’s crime, hide it and not confess it, Eren says. Sometimes I don’t agree with Metin, but I understand him. I’m sad you had to carry that guilt. I tried to make her understand, but I think it was useless. Eren thinks that Ceylin is wrong and it’s unfair to Ilgaz.

Ilgaz asks how Eren is doing. In the Turkish all he said was, I’m very afraid, I'm very afraid. I’m in the clouds. I became the father of a 15 year old girl in one day. Is there something I can do for you, Ilgaz asks. I wish, keşke, Eren replies.

Eren gets back to work. He tells a colleague to find out everything about Fatih Karaya.
Engin is still in solitary and complains to a guard he asked for a book that hasn’t come yet.

Defne and Makbule left for school and Merdan asks Metin to sit. I heard your son wants to go abroad. Metin is surprised—where did you hear that? Merdan says, then I’m glad I heard it. Metin asks again where he heard it. Merdan thinks the better question is why Metin doesn’t know anything about it.

Metin gets up, goes to Cinar’s room and wakes him. He asks him about going abroad. Are you crazy? Cinar says he can’t take it. He can’t live like this. I can’t see my brother and Ceylin every day. I can’t look anyone in the face. Metin says Cinar must think it through. He reminds his son about the pending case. Cinar says he’ll figure it out. Right, you’ll commit another crime and run away, Metin replies.

Cinar asks if his dad has a better idea. I don’t want to live this way. You’ll have to, Metin tells him, that’s the only way to pay for what you did. [you mean shooting someone accidentally in self defense? I’m tired of this, too.] The mistakes we make can’t always be hidden.

Cinar comes out of his room and faces Merdan. He calls his grandpa a snitch. Merdan says, a problem that is shared is a problem in half. You’ll learn that. Cinar tells grandpa he had to leave before 6p. Merdan smiles and says he understands. He asks, why are you so worried? What happens at 6? [how I wish Cinar would tell Merdan so he can order the special baklava]

Ceylin waits in the Kayas’ yard. Metin comes out of the house. Then Ilgaz comes out. Ceylin sighs, I tried to silence my conscience all night. I tried not to care and be a cold woman and silence the voice inside me that told me not to do it. As you see, I couldn’t do it. I’m here now. I can’t leave Defne fatherless. I don’t want her to suffer what I suffered. Ceylin takes a big breath, I won’t tell on you… but I’ll tell my father when he returns. I don’t know what he will think or do. [ugh]

She takes a paper out of her bag. Here are the divorce papers, Ilgaz. I don’t want your last name or to be your wife anymore. He takes the paper, and she leaves.

And we are out.

Dondi, you must be reading my mind like a psychic and answering my questions in your recaps. Again, many, many thanks for the excellent recaps.

So...it looks like Serdar buried Zafer? I don't remember it being explicit, but what else could it be? And how in blazes could Engin know Metin had the body in his trunk?

I seem to be losing track of the timing when things happened. Was Engin already realizing he might be accused of murdering Inci and had Serdar put another of his plans in motion by following Cinar? I didn't remember Engin being a suspect when Cinar was freed. And why would the supposedly fine young lawyer even know Serdar?

Got a kick out of "things are bad when Yekta is at a loss".

Serdar is a rotten guy. I shudder every time Cinar spends 5 minutes with him. But it looks like the threat of Merdan will keep Cinar safe from him. But not from Engin.

Well, there's a long list of people with BIG motives to arrange a death behind bars for Engin. I like the baklava idea! Unless I missed it, I don't think Engin is aware of Merdan being Cinar's grandfather. That's a big enemy to have. Pars is the one I remember finding that out.

And, yes, I'm also tired of Cinar feeling guilty about shooting Zafer. And it almost looked like the gun went off accidentally. Sigh. If only Metin had told the truth.

Juego de Mentiras - Capítulo 66 - Jueves, 22 de Junio/Viernes, 23 de Junio 2023 - Parte 1/2

César keeps talking to Cami and Chuy keeps overhearing. César says that Adriana will keep pretending she's Mariana because she doesn't have another option and Cami's father didn't kill anyone. Cami is glad. César tells her not to tell anyone. Too late for that, bud!

Chuy is really pissed. Cami notices it.

FJ and "Mariana" flirt. She says he's only saying things like that because she looks like her sister. He says "thank God you're not Adriana" and they even kiss. Ángelo (the gym guy) of course sees them.

Cami leaves a voice message to César. She says that since Pascual didn't kill Mariana, he could be helpful for the autopsy with his connections. Olga comes in and says something about Chuy's second room. Cami says that her mom's and Chuy's reactions are odd and asks Olga about it. After some pressure, Olga says that she doesn't want to lie anymore but she can't say anything. (Cami also says that Olga told Val her son was dead. I don't remember if we knew that already.)

Chuy is seeing pictures of Mariana (the real Mariana) and her kids on Ale's laptop. We get a flashback of Chuy talking with Adriana. She says it was hard for her to find her sister, but she did and Mariana has accepted her friend request on social media, now she has access to all her fotos. She adds that she'll make an account by the name of Marina de Molino using these pictures.

Back to the present, Cami enters and confronts Chuy about his second room (which was FJ's) and him using Ale's laptop. He says that if the police want it, it's right here (the laptop) and he keeps trying to close the conversation of the second room. Cami says that from the moment Olga brought him here they have only treated him like he was family. He screams that he's been an employee for them. Cami says it's not true.

César is talking on the phone with Noelia, she wants to meet her aunt and cousins. "Mariana" and FJ go back to Mariana's house and see him (he was in his car outside her house). FJ says that he wasn't expecting to see him here. César says he wants to ask "Mariana" questions about Cara Sucia and "Mariana" plays dumb. After she leaves, César tells FJ that Cara Sucia is closer to them than they think, he was the one who killed Adriana.

Chuy gets into FJ's office and acts as if he owns the place.

Tomás and Inés are at the orphanage and playing with Miguelito. Cami is also there and spots the Mother Superior. They have a talk about Olga, the Mother Superior says that she adopted a kid from here. Cami asks her if it was the kid of the sister of Renata del Río, Valeria, but the Mother Superior says that it's confidential information. After that, Cami tells Tomás and Inés her suspicions.

Valeria talks about her son and Olga says that she wants to have a clear conscience blah blah, but she doesn't tell her the truth, of course. Valeria says something about waiting too long to search for her son (I thought she thought he was dead?) and him not wanting to see her?

Chuy tells Renata that he wants a private plane and a helicopter and blackmails her with Valeria finding out the truth.

Adriana is packing. I think she's leaving William to go with FJ, she says something about a "business trip" but adds that he will be free if everything goes well. William doesn't look like he's eager to be free. FF
 

Juego de Mentiras - Capítulo 66 - Jueves, 22 de Junio/Viernes, 23 de Junio 2023 - Parte 2/2

Ángelo finds FJ and tells him that he was "Mariana's" amante and about the pregnancy blah blah. When Adriana goes outside, she tells Ángelo to leave, but the damage is done. FJ has 0 eagerness to be with someone who's just like Adriana. Adriana kind of freaks out, says that she's another person (lol, this one is true literally) and asks for a chance, but FJ has made up his mind.

Cami confronts Renata about Chuy, because she actually gave him the private plane. She even says she knows Chuy is Valeria's son! Renata falls for the trap, thinking Chuy told her and Cami says "so it's true then" and that she'll tell her siblings about it. Renata of course doesn't want Cami to tell her siblings.

Pascual and César talk about Pascual being innocent and needing to flee. César helps him, Pascual says something about needing to go back to his hotel to get his stuff.

Inés and Tomás talk with Olga about Chuy. Olga says she adopted Chuy before she found out he's Valeria's son. Renata wanted to bury the story (of course) and Olga insisted on keeping him, so he stayed as the gardener. She adds that she thought he was sweetest boy when he was in the orphanage, now she's not sure about that.

Renata is having a meeting with other members of the company, who tell her she should stay away from the company (it's her company btw) because all the things in the news won't affect the company well. Karma is a bitch.

Chuy has landed somewhere with his private airplane.

Adriana tells William that she won't go on a trip (lol) and he screams at her that she's not Mariana (I missed how he found it, it was something having to do with a paper). He gets violent, Adriana admits it and tells him Mariana is dead. She was shot because they thought she (Adriana) was her (Mariana).

Cami tells Tomás and Inés that Renata admitted that Chuy is their cousin. Valeria enters and they're about to tell her the truth when FJ comes in. Cami tells Val that her son is Chuy. Both Valeria and FJ are shocked. Olga enters. Val looks like she's having a stroke.

César and Pascual, dressed as a worker, enter the hotel. Pascual gives César his room key to get his stuff when Chuy enters the hotel and stares at them. Both Pascual and César are shocked. Chuy thinks back to Olga telling him Pascual's his father.

And with Chuy staring at Pascual with a poker face, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

One correction: I think the episode is #70, not 66. 70 was the number I saw from my recording, and novelera's recap was numbered 69, so....

I enjoyed your side comments, such as "too late for that, bud!" and "Karma is a bitch!"

I have very little sympathy for Chuy in light of the terrible things he has done lately, but I understand why he gets furious when Camila claims that they've always treated him like family. If they had treated him like family, he would have eaten at the table with the del Rios. He would not have been bossed around like a servant by Pascual and Renata. Etc., etc.

I'm glad you raised a question about Valeria's saying that she waited too long to search for her son. Like you, I thought that she was told soon after she gave birth that he had died at birth. And since the trusted Olga either said or confirmed this, there would have been no reason for Valeria to look for her son.

The one thing Pascual mentions that he needs from his room is his passport. Thus, it makes sense that he can't just abandon his stuff and leave.

I'm not sure how companies work. Can the Board of Renata's company force her to leave, even though (as she points out) she and her family are the major stockholders?

Chuy takes his private plane to Miami. When he gets off the plane, he says something like, "Miami, here I am."

In a previous episode, William took a hair from the hairbrush "Mariana" has been using, and he had a DNA test done using the hair. It revealed that she was not Mariana. The paper he held was presumably the report from the DNA test.

Weirdo, thanks so much for that excellent, detailed recap. This story is spinning like a top.

The actor playing Thug ( thank you , Autocorrect ) Chuy did a fantastic job of slowly and steadily changing from mildmannered gardener\boytoy to psychotic killer anxious to live a lifestyle of the rich and famous . I noticed in the flashback in another episode, Chuy was shown as the shooter . You could see that he still had on the big bad bunny suit, but without the bunnyhead.

I always thought he resembled Big Ed Yanez. When they faced each other it was like mirror images . Evidently, Pasqual never saw the resemblance .

“I seem to be losing track of the timing when things happened” –I feel the same way, novelera, even though I’m taking notes, checking back to the original, and recapping. There’s a lot going on with each of the characters. Lots of twists and turns.

You’ve got a great memory, Lucio. Thanks for the van reminder.

Engin is the evil puppet master. From his convo with Lacin (he’s the trashcan for dirty secrets) and knowing his distrust in his father, Engin must have been planning and doing backup planning from the start.

Serdar is garbage. I can’t stand Cinar hanging with him either. I don’t remember how Serdar and Engin hooked up or made a deal. Was it because of the drug case? Did Yekta make a deal with Serdar? Maybe that’s how Engin knew him. Or maybe it was through Inci? Maybe Lucio remembers? lol

It seemed to me that Serdar just happened to witness Zafer kidnapping Cinar. Then he followed every step of the way, reporting to Engin. Maybe he followed Metin, too.

I haven’t had the time to watch Friday’s show yet. My recap will probably be up tomorrow. Sorry for the wait.

Juanita, you're right, the episode is indeed #70 and not #66. I copy-pasted the first few lines and changed the dates, but not the episode number.

Also, excellent points. I have the same questions you have. ITA about Cami saying they treated Chuy like family. I don't feel bad for Chuy, but that statement was hilarious. Sure, I'm sure other family members are into gardening. I can definitely picture Renata doing it. And thanks for explaining the DNA test thing. I forgot about that!

Susan, I agree, the writers are doing a great job with their characters. It's not a flawless story exactly, but it definitely has few plot holes and you never lose interest with it.

Thanks so much for the fine recap, Weirdo. Super busy day for me, afternoon book club and birthday dinner this evening for a good friend who's hit a landmark, new decade birthday.

So it looks like Pascual didn't take the $5 million from his safe deposit box, the one FJ correctly labeled as his "get out of Dodge" money. He had to take some money from César, who's not exactly loaded. César must be especially pinched because he hasn't shown up at his woodworking shop in WEEKS! Oh well, I keep expecting telenovela characters to work, silly me.

I sure hope Adriana survives. She's not bad, like Chuy, just damaged by being abandoned. I remember the very first episode, her birthday party, when she wished Noelia would have a better mother and that César would find someone capable of loving him. That set the tone for the whole show. I felt like cursing at that Angelo for saying what he did to FJ. FJ and Adriana make an excellent couple. Of course he now thinks she's Mariana.

Hmmm. I wonder if Chuy would change his attitude towards Pascual now. He was dead set on having Pascual in prison for his own murders, before he found out he's his father.

Chuy del Rio was cracking me up, FJ's replacement, also known as Pascual junior, his dad's clothes have a nice fit, now they dress alike, and Pascual doesn't know yet, right?

with so many little details thrown at us I'm sure we all have a bit different take on things. I got the idea that Olga with her sense of family and loyalty to the del Rios, kept tabs on Chuy and when she thought she could, adopted him and brought him back to be close to family, and when Renata found out she went along with it.

it must have been a pretty good family scandal when Val got pregnant by Renata's husband, I think she was sent away when she started to show, and when they took the baby she decided to leave and never come back, which she didn't until Renata retrieved Cami, and it was when she decided to stay until she found her son that Renata cooked up the story the baby had died, and forced Olga to go along.

yep, FJ has Mariana pegged as being just like her sister Adriana, go figure, will Adriana the chameleon ever find happiness by deceiving people?

secrets #24 part 1

Parla calls Ceylin. They talk a little about Zafer. Still no word. Parla invites her aunt to her swim meet but unfortunately Ceylin can’t attend.

Engin’s phone is found and turned in to Pars. This explains how he had contact with the outside. They wonder how he got the phone. Who brought it in? The warden says they will investigate. Pars says to make a list of Engin’s visitors and start there.

Seda and Yekta meet. Who do you think you are to turn down the Tilmen Law Firm? Yekta says, in Spanish, that Seda has a “cerebro adormacido” (sleeping brain?) but in Turkish he says, “you have a brain not even the size of a chickpea”. [Take your pick.] She laughs, what would I do with the law firm? It won’t exist. The man who built it will be known as a liar and a fraud.

That’s not going to happen, Yekta says. Wait and see, Seda replies. All your lawyers and partners will leave you….your clients, amazing companies, famous actors. No one will remember Tilmen. You’ll even stand trial. You’ll go to prison for fraud and rot. It’s the end of the road. You can jump or we’ll push you, she says with vengeful pleasure. She starts to go but Yekta grabs her and threatens, you’ll be sorry. She mocks, I’m so scared.

The police show up looking for Seda. DA Pars wants your statement.

Ceylin runs into the AG. He’s not happy with her. He says her complaint about Pars working with Yekta was unfounded. Pray that I don’t act regarding this slander, he says. You were too confident that I’d doubt Pars. I respect him and care about him.

Ceylin explains she did it to get info on Inci’s murder. If I see something suspicious, I’m sure there’s something behind it. He warns her never to come to him until she fully investigates the facts. She asks what the AG found. The blabbermouth tells her about Pars’ illness.

Eren calls Ozlem. We hear Tugce and Fatih arguing in the background about her getting a job. Ozlem shuts the door so Eren can’t hear. Why are you calling? We need to talk, he says, it’s urgent. She doesn't want to talk, she doesn't want him to call her again. He gets her to agree to meet him at a café.

Ceylin waits for Ilgaz. She has a question. When were you going to tell me Pars is sick? You love to hide the truth, dear DA. My BIL’s betrayal, your father’s secret, and now this. He apologizes and excuses himself. Of course, she follows him into his office. [why is Pars’ illness anyone’s business? This annoys me and I don’t blame Pars for being pissed.]

Ceylin starts talking about the hospital case. Did you see the video of Meltem signing the paperwork, the one you said could be doctored? He saw it. She testified. Ceylin says Meltem did it for the money. Ilgaz says it’s likely, her child is very ill. He hands Ceylin the medical report and tells her to investigate. He adds that the ex-husband and new wife were heard arguing. She claims Meltem is a bad mother who uses her daughter’s illness.

Ridvan tells Pars that Neva fainted during a trial. Pars rushes to her and asks to clear the room. Cuneyt wants to call a doctor. Pars sharply tells him to go, but at least he adds a thank you. Pars asks thinks Neva hasn’t eaten all day and that’s why she’s dizzy. She looks at him, please tell me you’ll handle this. What did I say, he replies, trust me. Don’t worry. He tells her to go straight home and don’t go anywhere.

Parla’s swim meet. She doesn’t look happy that Osman showed up.

 

secrets #24 part 2

Ceylin comes back to Ilgaz. He gives her Sahver’s book. Ceylin says that Meltem has done this before at another hospital. She settled and got money. Ceylin mentions the condition with the German name. Ilgaz says, Munchausen Syndrome by proxy. It’s not common in our country but there have been cases. It will be difficult to prove and it’s severely punished. What do we do, Ceylin asks, question the new wife? She could tell us something. A child’s life is on the line. They go.

Eren shows up to meet Ozlem. She’s not there. He calls her. She’s on her way, running late. It was hard to get away. We see Fatih following her.

IlCey cross paths with Pars in the hallway. Good morning, how are you, Ilgaz asks. Pars bites back, it’s not a good day and I’m not fine. Will the world change because you wish? Ilgaz asks if there’s a problem. I have many, Pars says, and they’re mostly because of you. We meet in the hallway, and you attack me, Ilgaz notes, what’s going on? No pasa nada, Pars replies. Ilgaz turns to Ceylin to go.

Pars calls out, what did Engin do to upset you so much? Ilgaz doesn’t understand. Pars says he knows about sending Engin to confinement. You beat me to it. Pars asks why he did it. Ilgaz asks Pars the same question, what did he (Engin) do to make you angry? Pars says the time for honesty has passed. I no longer believe we are friends. I won’t answer.

Ceylin can’t stay silent any longer. Don’t take it out on him, she says, it was my fault. I spoke to the AG. I told him something that made him suspect you and I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were sick. You may not believe this, but Ilgaz does not betray his friends. Ilgaz kept your secret, he didn’t even tell me. Pars is skeptical. What a good game you two play…”if he doesn’t tell, then I will”. Who are you trying to fool? Pars walks. Ilgaz tells her to forget it.

Ceylin spots Seda and greets her. I’m surprised to see you, she says, I thought you were in Izmir. Seda says she’s here on an important matter. She walks away without further explanation. Ilgaz asks who that was. Engin’’s aunt, Ceylin replies, but they don’t act like family. Rumor has it that she went against Yekta. She’s Lacin’s sister.

Pars overhears. Do you know Seda? Yes, she’s a good woman. Pars drops a bomb on Ceylin—that good woman is Engin’s lawyer. She’s here to testify. Ceylin can’t believe it and she hurries off to confront Seda. Is it true, she asks her, are you Engin’s lawyer? Seda confirms it.

That man killed my sister, Ceylin says, how could you? I thought you always sided with the victim. Do you support the women killers? What happened to you? I died, she replies, it was femicide. There wasn’t bloodshed and the killer, Yekta, was released. No one fought for me then. You obviously have a plan, Ceylin says and asks, are you going to represent a man you haven’t seen in nine years, who hates you because you hurt his mother?

Seda doesn’t answer that. I’d love to talk and settle scores, but I have an important meeting at 6. I’ll leave after seeing the DA. Ceylin tells her you have no idea of the kind of monster you’re helping. You should be ashamed. Ilgaz wants to get Ceylin out of there, but she has some parting words for Seda. I won’t let you free him, save him, or make him happy. If he gets out, I’ll kill him myself. [Stupid girl says this in front of 2 DAs] Pars tells her she’s crossed the line. Ilgaz pulls her out of there.

In the hallway, Ceylin asks Pars why Seda is there. Pars replies, Engin called me from prison, she may have given him a phone. Ilgaz tells Ceylin that Pars is looking for a way to stop Engin and he called Seda as an excuse. Ceylin wonders what Engin used to threaten Seda.

Parla’s team wins the meet.

 

secrets #24 part 3

Ozlem meets with Eren. She’s in a rush—say what you have to say and get it over with. He asks, why did you lie? She sighs, what lie? I’ve got things to do. Eren tells her to drop the act. Aren’t you afraid the truth will come out? I haven’t lied, she says. You lack the skill to lie, Eren replies. She gets defensive and turns to go. Eren says, I know. I’m Tugce’s father. Ozlem denies it. Eren tells her about the test. He tells her to sit down.

Engin asks the guard if anything came for him. No, not in the morning delivery, maybe in the evening. Why do you keep asking, are you expecting something?

Ilgaz asks Ceylin, what are you going to do? Nothing, she replies. I’ll never read that letter. He insults my sister. He glorifies himself as a murderer. He’ll probably go through old files… he gets everything he wants, Ceylin says with frustration. He has the memory of an elephant. In any case, I’ll find a way to beat him. I’ll never bow down to him.

Ilgaz asks if Ceylin ever realized that Engin was like this. She nods, on the first day of class, I looked around and he was sitting in a corner by himself. I felt sorry, so I went to him. Whenever I see someone sad, I want to help. It’s in my nature, she laments. That’s how we became friends.

Ceylin continues, He always did strange things. Things that made me uncomfortable. I overlooked them. I forgave them. After a while I defended him all the time. When you’re happy, you become blind. [in the Turkish, she says it’s just like love]

Ilgaz gets a call from Missing Persons. Zafer went to a jewelry store on the day he went missing and sold some gold. They examined the car found at the cemetery. No fingerprints found.

Pars questions Seda. Engin Tilmen is your client? A cell phone was found in his bed. You say you know nothing about this? You didn’t give him the phone. He never called you? Never called anyone? Seda replies, you examined the phone, you tell me. Who did he call? If we examined the phone or not is not the point, Pars says. How did he get the phone?

Seda says she didn’t do it. That’s her story and she’s sticking to it. She asks if there’s concrete evidence that she did it. She gets up to leave. Pars tells Ridvan to confiscate Seda’s phone and computer. Pars threatens to have her detained. You have no evidence or reason to do this, Seda counters, you can’t confiscate anything or take me into custody.

Pars says he sees her as a suspect and he’s within his rights. He’ll cross the line if necessary. I’m looking for evidence you claim doesn’t exist. Pars gives the order, call the officers and have them escort her out. Seda threatens, this is illegal. I’ll hurt you. I’d love for you to lose your job. Pars is undeterred. Then don’t force my hand. I’d love for things to take us elsewhere. But that’s life. Take her, Pars orders. La suerte está echada, and all your efforts will be in vain, Seda tells him before being taken.

Yekta sees Seda in the hall. He smirks, what happened? Did you [crash]land so quickly? I’ll come visit, he laughs.

IlCey arrive at Meltem’s building. They need to be careful so she doesn’t see them. Ceylin thanks him for helping to find her father. It’s my job, he answers.

Yekta approves of Pars’ treatment of Seda. Pars says Seda is a tough woman. She’s intelligent and confident. It won’t be easy. Yekta laughs this off. We’re talking about Seda. She was born yesterday. Pars scoffs, we’re talking about Seda. You said the same about your innocent son. What happened? He subdued us all. Yekta backs off.

 

secrets #24 part 4

Yekta has the file from the hospital where Engin was admitted. Use it in your investigation. There’s a chance my poor son is insane. What he says might be a fantasy. Pars asks, if this doesn’t prove he’s a criminal, do you know what will happen? Yekta answers, he will spend his life in the psychiatric hospital. That would be good. Pars will think about it.

Ozlem confesses, after you left me… I found out I was pregnant. [I’ll give you the Turkish here, it makes more sense.] I tried to tell you. I couldn’t. You didn’t show up again. Wait a minute, Eren interrupts, are you blaming me? You lied and I’m to blame? I didn’t leave you, you left me. I said goodbye, I managed, but don’t throw the blame on me.

Ozlem asks, why didn’t you show up? He doesn’t answer. She says, I had a baby in my belly. I couldn’t raise a child by myself. I told Fatih the child was his. He came out and we started a family. She asks Eren, why are you mad? If you had followed me, it would have caused trouble. Don’t turn back time. Tugce considers Fatih her father and he considers her his daughter. She has a sister. If you tell her, she will be destroyed. No one will stop Fatih. Forget everything. Don’t look for us.

You want me to forget, Eren asks, do you think I’m that kind of animal? My daughter is in the arms of a dog! How can I forget? I’m not an idiot. Should I die and never hear her call me dad? I’m sorry, we will tell Tugce everything. We will ask forgiveness and answer her questions. Eren drops the bomb, if we don’t tell her by 6pm, someone else will. Ozlem says she can’t. Fatih will kill me and Tugce.

Parla receives flowers. They come with a note: we know you are taking drugs. If you don’t return the medal and confess now, we will out you. You will be shamed.

IlCey question the second wife. The woman says, she (Meltem) is being pressured to take care of the child. I wish she was able. She’s reluctant to tell the whole story. It’s very serious. There was another child before Elif. The child died before it turned two. They said Sudden Death Syndrome, but I don’t believe it.

Ozlem can’t understand why Eren is doing this. She says he will destroy her family. What kind of family, he asks, what kind of home? I looked at his file, he’s done everything except murder. It’s no place to raise a child. What do you care, Ozlem snaps back. My family, my husband, what do you care?

Eren won’t take no for an answer—have Tugce here at 5. I won’t let anyone else manipulate our daughter. Ozlem worries, Fatih will go crazy. You don’t understand. Eren says they will find out either way. Be here at 5! We see Fatih lurking.

Pars asks Ridvan about Seda’s phone and computer. They are still working on it. But Ridvan says the prison warden is sending over a report. Something was mentioned during an interrogation. A person said they brought the phone to Engin. Ridvan asks if Pars will release Seda. Pars snaps, you take my chair and I’ll get the coffee. He shouts at Ridvan to leave.

Ilgaz verifies what the wife had to say. The child died. He had respiratory and growth problems. They need to get Elif out quickly. Ilgaz calls Eren to send a team asap. Send an ambulance. Get ready to make arrests.

Aylin and Osman wait for Parla to come out. She asks her teammates. One says that Parla got ready quickly and left.

Ceylin gets impatient with Ilgaz. She doesn’t want to wait for the cops. It could be too late. Ilgaz gives in. They go to the door. Meltem is giving Elif an IV. She doesn’t want to let IlCey in. Elif isn’t well, she says, come back later. IlCey insists. Meltem threatens to call the police and Ilgaz says he already called them. Meltem opens the door a crack and Ilgaz busts it all the way open.

 

secrets #24 part 5

Ceylin takes the IV meds. What are you doing, Meltem asks. Saving your daughter’s life, Ceylin replies. Ilgaz carries Elif out of the house to his car. They locked Meltem in a room. Eren and his crew arrive. The ambulance is stuck in traffic. Ilgaz says to arrest the woman inside as he places Elif in his car.

Eren gets a frantic call from Tugce. Hurry, hurry! He’s killing my mother! We hear Fatih shouting, I saw you with that cop! Eren takes off. Fatih beats Ozlem. I saw you! Who is he? Why were you talking to him? Tugce slumps by the door. There’s nothing she can do.

Pars goes to Seda. He congratulates her on setting this up. She tells him what he did was illegal. You were outside the zone, but you did well. I love men who don’t give up. Really, Pars replies, glad to hear it. Seda follows it up, but…you have disappointed me. You detained me and Engin is still in his cell. This won’t work…tick, tock…tick, tock… No matter what you do, it will be 6 soon enough.

A smug Seda meets Yekta in the halls. Don’t you like what you see, she asks. Not at all, he replies. She’s loving it and says, you’ll sink further as you fight. The mud swallows you while you thrash around. You should give up, you bastard. She walks.

Pars stops in front of Yekta. Pars has nothing good to say, so he says nothing and walks away. Yekta checks his watch. Pars checks the time on his phone. It’s 2:50.

Neva calls Pars. It’s three. We’re running out of time. Tell me you did it. I’m doing all I can, Pars says, don’t pressure me. She begs, do whatever it takes to silence him. What should I do, Pars asks, should I grab his throat? Allah, Allah.

Seda meets with Sahver.

Eren arrives at Ozlem’s house. He hears Tugce’s cries, mom, wake up! Someone help! My mother is dying! He’s horrified as he sees Tugce kneeling over her mother.

And we are out.

Other than the divorce paper in the morning, Ceylin continues to be friendly with Ilgaz. I thought she would be more upset about framing her father and with Ilgaz. And with Ilgaz because he is close and he feels her pain, not because he did anything wrong.

The 6pm deadline affects so many people. It is like the execution time for some. Neva and Parla are taking it pretty bad. Ceylin takes it easy. Eren and Ilgaz are not guilty so they are just trying to do what is best. Interesting what Yekta will do. Cinar should be used to this by now. Accused of murder, being sent to jail. Things actually looked worse the first time.

The rush to "save" Elif was strange. Elif was ill and under care of her mother for years. And right in that moment they needed to break in and prevent her poisoning. That did not look legal. Ceylin is corrupting Ilgaz.

It was awful what Fatih did to Ozlem. And Tugce will blame Eren for this now.

Amen on Pars illness and that arrogant AG telling Ceylin. Guess there's no HIPAA in Turkey.

I'm wondering what Yekta did to Seda to cause all this hate. The conversation between Lacin and Seda seemed to indicate she had an affair with him. But this most recent episode made it sound like more than that.

How does Ceylin know about Seda hurting Lacin? And, yes, why is Seda defending Engin? Hating Yekta can't be enough. What does he have on her?

That was an interesting reveal that Engin was always weird. It seemed a bit odd that he went from Ceylin's eager junior partner to this monster. Even when we saw him kill Inci, it seemed almost out of character for him. It seemed to be because he loved her so much and she disparaged him.

I still don't understand who broke up with whom about Ozlem and Eren.

Hope Ozlem survives, although a more likely thing would be Eren getting custody because her mother is dead and her father in prison.

According to her, she tried to tell Eren about the pregnancy but she never got the chance because Eren didn’t want to see her. She didn’t want to raise the child without a father so she went back to Fatih. Who knows?

One way or another Eren’s going to be involved in Tugce’s life.
