Everyone is sick and Juan is FIRED!!! (If I thought for a minute the firing would stand I'd have more to stay about that one...lol)

Things that stood out to me today:

I'm no fan of Lillian but I'm also not a fan of anyone being vilified for something they didn't do. Pick on her for any number of reasons she does deserve it. She didn't deserve Luci's ire here. She helped Marta. Sure she didn't react immediately because she didn't realize the threat was real but after she knew Marta really needed help she yelled for Sonia and told her to call an ambulance. Whatever else the women is guilty of, she's apparently not cold enough to sit back and let Marta suffer like Luci accuses. Plus, Luci just sounds like a self-righteous jerk yelling at Lil for doing or not-doing something when she doesn't even know whether or not it's true.

I thought today, not for the first time, that the chemistry between Miguel and Susan seems better than the chemistry between Miguel and Luci or Susan and Tano...

Gracie going off on Luci in the restaurant AFTER she already left the vineyard is just weird....but I LOVED the way Luci called her on it and actually told David what Gracie said!!! Nice change from the novela staple where the protag just takes it and doesn't tell anyone about the poison that is being spit when the galan isn't in the room!

Luci is now back at the vineyard.....lol that took 15 mins.

Vino. Thanks, Darci! I must admit I was a little surprised when Lilian stepped up and helped Marta. I guess she's not completely evil. Glad Juan was fired, but what evil machinations will he be up to now? Christian de la Campa is doing a great job playing a villain, just as he did a wonderful job in Corazon guerrero as a man who had been isolated from the world since childhood and was working his way back to normalcy. Well done!

SpanProf: Juan is such a complete JACKASS, who will plot more chaos from here on out.

Darcy: Good Job with the recap of yesterday afternoon's episode. Hoping you've got the recap from today's episode with full in-depth highlights. Luciana still being the Punching Bag again ?

Sorry Steve, not doing full in-depth anything today but you can read the original recap of course. We are just doing discussions this time around.

Luci walks the line between independent/free spirited and arrogant...and today she was arrogant! I don't mind her sticking up for herself but it's the way she does it. Demanding 'it's us or her' when talking to David about Lillian and insisting over and over again when she butts in to David's parenting of Fernanda. I think the writers want her to be outspoken which is fine but it doesn't mean she has to have something to say about every single subject!! Especially parenting but even how to run David's household. She shouldn't be telling him what he can or can't do with his own mother-in-law and his children's grandma. And from the galan point of view, do you really want a prince charming who needs to be told how to run his own household and how to parent? I sure don't...

Marta caved to Bryan (is that really his name?) so fast!!!! Why even bother having her give lip service to standing up for herself if it was going to last all of two minutes?? And of course Bryan avoids coming face to face with Luci. I can't wait to see that meeting!!!

I was surprised David stuck to his guns about firing Juan! How are we going to keep Christian around now?? LOL I have no doubt he's in it for the long haul but I was really expecting him to talk his way back into David's good graces right away....guess he'll think of something.

Carito was sure giving Leon some loving looks today....

OT - speaking of keeping Christian around, I've been wondering if the writer's strike will halt novela production, do you know SpanProf? I would think Uni would be safe(ish) since they mostly re-broadcasts Televisa productions but it seems like Telemundo would be impacted, right? They are NBC affiliate and they film in the US. I tried to look it up but didn't find any definitive info. Both Christian de la Campa and Kimberly dos Ramos (Graciela) are slated to star in a new novela for Telemundo which was supposed to premiere later this year and wiki says production began in May. I'm just wondering if it was subsequently halted...doesn't say.

Vino. Since most telenovelas seem to originate in Mexico, I suspect their production won't be that affected. At worst, the Spanish-language networks may have to substitute a novela or 2 that is fully produced in Mexico. I understand that some English-language networks are considering importing some Canadian series. Great observations on Luci, Darcy! And yep, there is a new "mystery." Now that Marta and Gutierrez are back together, will Gutierrez and Luci see each other? And when? Will she recognize him as the Immigration officer who deported her and her father? (almost certainly). I see a lot of near encounters that for very coincidental reasons just do not happen in the future. Anything to drag the novela out to 141 episodes. :)

"VINO":

Darcy: Bold Prediction: Luciana will put Hypocrite Gutierrez on full-blast!

She's got good reason to go off on that Hypocrite because of the cruel & evil way she & Marcos got deported to Mexico.

Another day and Juan still hasn't gotten his job back?? LOL When he was talking about getting revenge for his father with such vigor I couldn't help but think that whatever happened between his father and David or David's father and Juan's father (?) had to have happened at the very least before our tale began what like 15 years ago? Maybe a little less, I am not sure what the exact time lapse has been. That's a long time to hold a grudge!!! Or maybe it's not, I know some people hold them for much longer than that but I personally have never been able to hold a grudge for longer than like a day and a half! lol I guess I just have better things to do than walk around angry and resentful.

I thought it was interesting how Carito asked Perla if she really loved Juan or was just with him out of interest....and interesting how the answer was both. Carito seems to see Perla very clearly and Perla is very honest with Carito. It would be a very healthy friendship if they were better people.

I loved the scene where Lil told Gracie that her dad cheated on her with Marta and all Gracie did was laugh, well more like cackle!!! It was cold, but it was HILARIOUS!!! I don't mind when two mean people are mean to each other; much better than torturing the innocent.

Speaking of the supposed good and innocent....Luci and David and Miguel are so annoying....I don't like any of them!!! I hate the way David and Miguel are with each other, they look like kids fighting on a playground.

Vino. Good one about David and Miguel being like kids fighting on a playground, Dulcie. At the moment I'm on team Miguel--especially as he and Luci could start their own vineyard--though I think it's pretty obvious that she is going to end up with David. Of course, I'm going mostly on the opening art work. Hmm. I suspect that Juan's "grudge" may be an excuse to embezzle and enrich himself.
