Highlights from the couch . . .
Boy oh boy, things getting dicey.
Hipólito's Memorial Mass and Luncheon: Martina invites Irma. Irma attends and addresses the memorial photo of Hipólito . It turns out that Hipólito was the father of Ignacio and abandoned them when Ignacio was only a boy. Irma tells the photo that she is determined that Ignacio gets everything that Hipólito cheated him out of by ignoring his existence. Later we find out that Ignacio is on board with the revenge when he remembers his father leaving them for good. Irma brings a tres leches cake with strawberries to the luncheon. Martina remarks that it was Hipólito's favorite cake. Irma says it was her hubby's favorite, too, and he has also been dead for twenty years. Beatriz knows the truth about who Irma is and almost chokes when she hears Irma's comment about the cake. Beatriz tries to warn Imelda off of being friendly with Ignacio and his mother but doesn't tell her the real reason.
Martina's Welcome Wagon Dinner: Martina invites Irma and Ignacio over for dinner and regrets it in no time. Ignacio takes control of the event and is rude, loud and brash. Everyone is turned off of his cheeky behavior except for Irma. Ignacio explains he is just back from the USA where he worked in the tourism business just like them: providing transportation. He says that his father is dead, too, but they were separated and that his mother was the one who supported him. His father also managed a fleet of buses. None of the coincidences or Ignacio's increasing appearances out of nowhere are lost on Rogelio who tells Fidel to do an investigation on him. Fidel finds out that Ignacio supposedly has a business for 10 years in the USA and 8 months in Mexico. Rogelio is not satisfied and wants Fidel to investigate his family and background. Rogelio finds it very suspicious that his major competitor is suddenly living right next door and is more and more physically present and intrusive in their lives.
Paula & Rogelio: They escape the night before the memorial mass and spend it at the family's country house. They decide to get away once a month no matter what. Rogelio talks to Paula's boss and puts him on notice that he knows what is being said about him being a stalker, etc. on the social networks . Paula assures him that she can take care of herself. Paula thinks she has rented a house for her music school but doesn't know yet that Martina has put the kabosh on it. Paula is 14 days late and gets a pregnancy test. She is pregnant. She shares the moment on the phone with Ceciia who is also moving to Morelia. Later, she goes to a lab and her pregnancy is confirmed.
The Song of Songs: Martina overhears Imelda talking to her mother and finds out that she is not interested one bit in Fernando her husband and still is carrying a torch for Rogelio. She is not pleased to know that they have not been having any marital relations so she brings Imelda a Bible and tells her to read the Song of Songs which is all about physical love. The meaning is not lost on Imelda. Martina suggests they go on a honeymoon. Fernando has booked a cruise. Imelda looks for excuses. Imelda later asks if she read the passage in the Bible because if she and Fernando don't get going, the "other one" (Paula) will end up having her first grandchild.
The Ex is back in town: Her name is Erika and she and Rogelio were engaged at one time. She just got a job back in Morelia. She is going to make contact with Rogelio when she sees Rogelio on the street when Paula appears. She walks away.
Everything Else:
Blanca confides what she feels for Marco to Eva. Eva's advice. Ignore the guy. If he likes you he will seek you out. Marco is puzzled by Eva's cold shoulder but he does have a girlfriend in the motorcycle group he rides with. Blanca overhears him making plans with the girl and sending her a kiss over the phone.
Paula sings Ave María at the Memorial Mass. Martina is not pleased. Guests want to hire her. Martina says she isn't available.
From a flashback, it looks like Honorio knows all of the secrets of Honorífico's past.
Luis, the writer brother, seems to have a crush on his new sister-in-law Paula.
Martina is her usual *itchy self even expecting everyone to rise when she leaves the dinner table!
That's all I got!
Acceptance; Rejection; Vengeance and Forgiveness
You either get bitter or you get better. It’s that simple. You either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person, or you allow it to tear you down. The choice does not belong to fate, it belongs to you - Josh Shipp
There is a repeat of the final moments of Ramses and AnaJu’s emotional confrontation. Ramses is crying tears of rejection as he strokes the face of a stern and unforgiving AnaJu. She turns and walks away as he gulps, devastated, face grimacing in terrible physical and mental anguish, wiping his eyes.
Camila is dissolving in tears as she leans her head against David’s shoulder. She feels desperate, things keep occurring and now this happens with AnaJu! David holds her close and assures her he is there to help shoulder her burden. He tells her that she is a very strong woman and he is very proud of her. Viewerville notes the words and sentiment is supportive but are hardly murmurings of love.
Matias is the first to see AnaJu asking her where she went. Before AnaJu can utter a word, Leona rushes up saying how worried she was and then repeating Matias’ question. Gael, following on Leona’s heels, scolds AnaJu for leaving the house. AnaJu finally admits she came from seeing Ramses. In utter frustration, Gael asks how she could do that; doesn’t she realize what just happened with his mother? Por favor Leona says, they should at least listen to what AnaJu has to say. Gael isn’t having it! Ramses kidnapped his mother and is a fugitive; further, he could have taken AnaJu! AnaJu points out (the obvious) that Ramses didn’t do that. Leona gently reminds AnaJu that she needs to consider what they are going through as a family. AnaJu relates that she had to look Ramses in the eye and tell him all she was feeling about him. She adds that she tried to call the police but Ramses took her phone. Leona offers to call Valerio to tell him AnaJu has been found. Gael asks what Ramses wanted. AnaJu replies that Ramses was incapable of asking to be forgiven; he just wanted her to not stop loving him. She begged him to give himself up and show regret for all he did but he said “no.” She also told him he would end up badly but he didn’t care. Gael knows she has a big heart, but she shouldn’t do anything like that again; for her mother and himself, she is all their existence. AnaJu knows she was naive to think she could make Ramses change. Camila and David arrive, David (who is not related to AnaJu) feels it necessary to add his two cents that they were all worried. AnaJu asks that they forgive her; she won’t leave again.
Clara, hand on hip, accuses her family of making her a prisoner in her own home! Benja explains they know she will get upset and attack Silvano. Again. Arms folded; Clara righteously spews that she has every reason to since Silvano is a horrible example for her granddaughter. Jacinta tells her Flor wants Lili to know her father, just as he is. Clara thinks Silvano just wants to put all his filthy ideas in her head. She then mocks that everyone is promoting “inclusion” of all that is not good in the world. After Benja defends those that fight for inclusion, Clara launches her venom toward Itzel who can’t even decide who she is. Benja thinks they should respect Itzel but Clara won’t listen. Jacinta finally tells her “enough!” They all have a choice—to adapt or to remain in the past. Thick as a brick Clara continues her tirade against Silvano as Benja and Jacinta (fruitlessly) continue trying to make her understand that they need to accept Silvano.
Diana
We next see Silvano and Lili sitting on a wicker sofa as Flor looks on. Silvano uses props to tell the story; he pulls out a male doll and adds a bright red wig, then changes the clothes to a bright red dress. He shows Lili what he does; in his job he turns into Silvana, La Capitana, to make people happy. Lili grasps the concept of “drag”. Silvano tells her it’s an art…it lets him be libre. Lili is happy and throws her little arms around his neck, kissing him as Flor smiles. Lili loves having parents who are brave.
Cristobal is treating Consuelo to a relaxing and sensuous massage. He wears a white robe; she is lying on the table, encased in a large, fluffy white bath sheet. He removes the cucumber slices from her eyes, putting a special moisturizer on a cotton pad, gently patting her face. He applies an oil into his fingertips which he rubs gently on Consuelo’s neck. Cristobal tells Consuelo that she is and will always be the most beautiful woman. Consuelo asks if he truly loves her that much. Cristobal replies that he didn’t fall in love with any one part of her body; he loves all of her! She is beautiful just as she is today. He stares into her eyes asking that she please not cry any more. Consuelo asks that he forgive her being so distant; the tears have ended and she wants to be the woman she is.
Josefa is joined in bed by AnaJu, Kika, Danilo and Oliver. Matias is sitting next to Josefa and Camila in front of her. Gael is standing but later sits. Leona stands alone. Hmmm. I’m surprised not to see David nestled in there somewhere, but I digress. Josefa is glad AnaJu is well…she missed her and everyone else. AnaJu announces that she will no longer seek to be emancipated. The one person she didn’t want to be tied to is Ramses; she wants nothing to do with him. Gael knows it won’t be easy, but they need to be united as a family and recoup the love they have for each other. Leona comments that the house wasn’t the same without Josefa. Josefa thinks Apolo would be very proud of them. He isn’t there but seeing them all there gives more meaning to his passing. Josefa wants to rest…and asks for a group hug.
Benja and Itzel are at his shop as he announces he has a surprise. He opens a white box and we see it is long locks of hair; he tells Itzel that his clients have donated these to make wigs for those with cancer. After they kiss, it is Benja’s turn to be on the receiving end of a surprise. Itzel blurts out that she wants it to be with him…her first time.
Leona asks AnaJu if she would like to talk about her discussion with Ramses. AnaJu knows that the Torrenegros have hurt Leona very badly; they robbed her of what she loves the most. Now she understands that the only way Leona can find peace is for Ramses to pay for all he has done. Leona appreciates all that she is saying to her. When Leona adds that her mother, Camila, and Gael are good people who love her with all their heart, AnaJu responds that she is still having trouble assimilating. Leona tells her that the best thing for the soul is time. Leona apologizes after she refers to AnaJu as “daughter” but AnaJu shares that is something she would like to get used to. Leona flashes back to telling AnaJu and Benja at the museum that she is their mother. Leona expresses that she would like to be a true mother to her, but she will respect her…she just needs to be close to them. AnaJu tells her that she needs her too!
Jacinta has entered the glass house touching a likely very expensive object that alights from its perch, falling to the floor. As she catches it, Matias arrives, delighted to see her. With impish delight, Matias takes the glass sphere throwing it down on the ground where it shatters. As he explains that it’s like leaving the past in the past, they should only look to the future, they smile sweetly at each other.
Diana
Ramses enters the room to speak with Orlando (Romeo’s father) but are interrupted by Columba, bending over, screaming in pain.. She goes into the bathroom and she is bleeding profusely. She stares at the blood on her hands (so symbolic the patio murmurs), bending over in pain. She recalls telling Ramses that she and the baby would be his only family.
When Romeo and his posse arrive at school, he is greeted by agitated students protesting with signs and chants that rapists will not be tolerated.
David and Camila are at the stables where Camila used to ride, David leading a magnificent grey steed. As David lauds Camila’s bravery to return there after her accident, Camila flashes back to her falling off the horse. David assures her they are safe but wonders why she brought them there. Camila explains that she wants him to see who she is.
Gael is leading Leona (hands covering her face) out on the grounds where a white latticed gazebo, festooned with beautiful flowers awaits. She is delighted and can’t believe Gael did all of this for her! He smiles and says he will do everything to conquer her heart; he loves her.
Camila walks using her cane, her gait unsteady. She tells David there was a time when horses were her life…until…She cries at the memory and David consoles her with a hug. She tells him she wants him to see the horizon and asks him what he sees. He sees much greenery…he feels freedom. That is what Camila wants, freedom and happiness. She wants to form a family with him and her daughter. She strokes his face with her hand which David unsmilingly removes. David tells her that he needs to be honest; he still has feelings for Leona. She looks hurt but Camila forges forward, saying that with time, she feels his relationship with Leona can become that of good friends. The patio feels for Camila as whatever world she is living in, it is not on planet Earth.
Gael serves cups of fresh fruit atop a yogurt custard. He takes Leona’s hand, assuring her she isn’t alone. Gael has prepared something special for the last dish. Leona thinks he should spend his time with his mother, so he tells her that his mother wants some time to rest. He is doing everything to show Leona that he will fight for her love. He flashes back to a young Leona and Gael, on the beach with their romantic picnic in front of the sea and hopes that they can kiss with the same intensity.
Matias tells Jacinta that his father needs to disappear. Jacinta reminds him he left the family as he didn’t want to follow his father’s example. If he allows the anger and bad feelings to become dominant, his father will have won. Matias agrees, he wants to focus on her and them being together. He gently touches her hand with his saying he doesn’t want to lose any more time. Will she be his novia? The answer is “yes” followed by deep kissing. Josefa walks in and murmurs excuse me. Matias tells her is very much in love with Jacinta and they have just become novios. Felicidades she smiles taking Jacinta’s hand. Josefa is glad to see her son happy with such a good woman and wishes them much happiness.

Ramses tells Orlando that he is going through a bad time. Orlando already knows about Ramses’ situation. When Ramses tells him he will need to help him escape, Orlando asks what he will receive in return. Ramses tells him he won’t be his enemy. Orlando asks if he would be capable of betraying him. Ramses tells him that if he was capable of killing his brother, he won’t have a heart for someone worthless like him. Columba, blood still on her hands comes in and cries for a doctor.
The school protest against Romeo continues. Benja stands on the school steps, Kika in between him and AnaJu. When the director arrives, Teo explains why they are protesting. They are fed up with guys like Romeo being protected. AnaJu chimes in that they can’t allow guys there!
Leona comments to Gael (in his pristine white chef’s jacket) how much she likes the steaming hot chocolate which Gael admits he got the recipe for from the internet. Gal continues to impress Leona. With sheer delight, Leona notices the cups bear her tattoo! Sometime, Gael would like to make the fried fish Leona used to make. Leona doesn’t think bringing up the past is a good idea but Gael argues they met in the past and asks why she fell in love with him. She smiles that she liked his simplicity and how he looked for her. At first he was so brave…but then he lost that. Gael knows he should have defended their love when she told him she was pregnant. He flashes back to when he told Ramses he loved Leona and Ramses slamming his hand in the iron door. Then, memories of the snow globe ensue. Gael has imagined so many times what it would be like if he had stayed in Puerto Palma and found a job there to support his family. If he had protected her, her family wouldn’t be dead and they would all be together. Leona tells him that is why they shouldn’t recap the past; it brings up bad memories. They should live in the present. Gael remarks that they have gone through much pain…but they have them same goal—form a happy family. Throughout this entire scene, Leona is actually smiling and engaging with Gael, without rancor or malice. She actually seems amenable…When Leona tells him that AnaJu has accepted her, Gael hopes that AnaJu gives him that opportunity. Leona encourages him to work for that opportunity with both AnaJu and Ben.
The director expels Romeo and enraged, Romeo stalks out. Kika thanks everyone for helping her. She apologizes, asking that they forgive her for everything she did. She needs them to help her to be a better person. A kind Itzel shakes her hand saying she can count on them. Kika tells them they make nice couples. AnaJu thinks she will find someone when she least expects it. On that note, Teo hands out invitations to AnaJu’s 16the birthday party saying she might meet someone there. As Romeo appears they all chant “out” and he heeds the call.
David and Camila kiss as birds chirp in the background. David confesses that he is afraid of horses (it was painfully obvious he isn’t comfortable handling them evidenced by the horse’s tossing his head when David was “leading” him). They laugh about it. David doesn’t want her to think he is a scaredy cat but Camila knows he isn’t since he confronted her father.
Ramses calls Bustillo, telling him to come and attend to Columba but the not so good doctor isn’t sure he can. Calixto grabs the phone, telling Ramses Bustillo no longer works with him. When Ramses asks what he is doing with his doctor, Calixto informs him all of Ramses’ contacts now work for him! Ramses threatens that all who betray him will cry blood! Calixto tells him he is sick. Ramses counters his experience will allow him to squash him like the bug that he is. Ramses tells them Calixto bought Bustillo. Orlando says he can get a doctor as Columba can’t go to the hospital (as they would be captured). Ramses asks Orlando if he is going to help them to escape too. Orlando says he will do everything he can.
Diana
Calixto orders Bustillo to do the surgery on Lola who had been prancing in front of the mirror admiring the handiwork yet to come.
Gael and Leona are now having waffles and fresh berries. Leona is enjoying herself immensely, but she would like to spend some time with her children. As she finishes her coffee, something in the cup catches her attention. There is a message written on the bottom of the cup that reads (if I captured it correctly): “te volveras a casarte conmigo”; will you marry me again? Gael knows it is a simple gesture…and that they are already married but they married because she was seeking justice. He asks that she take her time in answering; he still has to annul his church marriage. He doesn’t want them to be apart anymore. Leona doesn’t know what to say; they are just now beginning a new possibility. Gael will wait as long as need be…because he loves her. They kiss and she seems to really smile at him for the first time.
The doctor examines Columba and tells her she is having a high-risk pregnancy. (Really? I could have told her that!) Columba mewls saying no, no.
Leona invites Benja and AnaJu to the pool as water has always been special for her ever since she was a child…because water can put out fires and pain. Every time she saw the immenseness of the sea, she thought of the expansive love she bears for them. She always dreamed of swimming with her children; can they help her fulfill that dream? Benja smiles “let’s do it”. They put their hands on top of each other’s as we see their images reflected in the clear water.
Diana
“Trivia—the person who sings the theme song is “Flor” (Regina Velarde)” is courtesy of our Rgv Chick – thank you! I am simply in awe of your ability to capture every word of these dialogue laden episodes and to do so beautifully. How fortunate we are to be the recipient of your tireless, witty and very generous work. I am so grateful!
For the first time, I am a bit hopeful for Gael and Leona. She didn’t appear to cast any tight lipped “looks” Gael’s way and seemed genuinely at ease with him. It’s not love in bloom but at least she didn’t grit her teeth or look angry/disgusted. At least as far as I could tell. Progress!! 😊
Diana
Thank you, Diana, great job on a quiet episode (for once).
I was almost shocked not to see David, too, cuddling with Josefa and her family while she was in bed, resting. Even more so when I realized he managed to tear himself away from Leona for an entire after-noon, actually allowing her to spend time with her husband, while he went out with his so called girlfriend.
Diana, I liked the Gael Leona moments, too, because the chemistry is there, but Leona is goingvto make her choice between the two using her head, not her heart, which is nit swoon worthy in my book. Sure, they both love her and I think she loves them both, each differently, but even if she chooses David it will be because he has always been there, always protecting her, the most reliable man who ever lived.
And if she goes for Gael, it will be in part to form a family with their kids.
My point is there is no passionate love affair, no thrilling rendez-vous, it all comes down to who will be the more logical choice for her.
We only have a handful of episodes left, I don't know how things could change now.
Diana, thank you for another great recap.
Adriana, yes, this novela is turning out to be something very different from the norm.
Adriana, thank you! Last night was a much needed break from the angst and agony that has become this telenovela's trademark.
If only adults could forgive as the children did here, bringing Kika back into the fold.
I liked everyone piling on Josefa's bed but I kept thinking Leona's standing off to the side reflected the fact she considers herself an outsider, and perhaps that might always be the case. She looked wistful...
"My point is there is no passionate love affair, no thrilling rendez-vous" is sadly true. I keep hoping that there will be a moment, one shining moment where the lock on Leona's heart shatters and she is able to find a redefined love with Gael. I just cannot see her with David (famous last words) :(
Jarifa, thank you for your kind words.
Diana
Jarifa, thank you for your excellent recap!
Loved "Martina's Welcome Wagon Dinner" and "The Song of Songs". Although I saw only part of this, I am now caught up thanks to you.
At least Martina is wise to Imelda...
I kept yelling at Paula to get rid of the pregnancy test evidence but I sadly suspect that (as it always does) it will be found and the secret revealed all too quickly.
Ignacio is a loutish bore, it was painful to watch him carry on at the dinner. And his appearance to "save" Paula was creepy.
Too bad Erika came back to add to poor Paula's problems.
The love bug has bitten Luis quite fiercely. Poor guy...
Great to see Omar Fierro in a "good" guy role.
Diana
Thanks for the notes, Jarifa. They do a great job of filling in the blanks!
Not sure who is Honorio and who is Honorífico but the flashback was confusing to me. I did recognize the man getting in the car as the man courting Blanca’s mom.
Was Ignacio that rude and obnoxious on purpose to annoy them or is that his true personality! He was a little over the top. He’s going to have fun trying to destroy the brothers. At least Rogelio suspects something! I hope he doesn’t end up blaming Paula for Ignacio being around her.
I’m glad Paula will have the first grandchild although I don’t think it will soften Martina towards Paula. And she’s always correcting or chastising Imelda, but trying to save that marriage that she knows is one sided!
Are Beatrice and Irma sisters?
Liz
Thanks, Diana, that was outstanding. And I love the quote-so true. This was a pretty pleasant episode. Although I thought Columba had lost the baby. Scary to think those two would raise a child together. With a high risk pregnancy she might be sent to bed for the duration!
Glad David told Camila he will always love Leona. Although Camila seems to think that can change. Since I haven’t liked her that much lately I hope she and David end up together.
I liked the way Silvano used the doll to show what he does. Clara needs to go to a home so she can sit with other-minded people and discuss what the world is coming to!
Cristobal is an amazing husband.
Liz
Dear Diana and Chickie, thank you for bringing us every moment as we pause from the death and despair and destruction for afternoon dates.
Hello there, Adriana, Jarifa, and Diana, I enjoyed your comments as I let last night's episode simmering in my mind.
First off, was it David's idea to take Camila to the stable ? If so, I cannot believe that he was actually able to tear himself away from the glass house and let Gael alone with Leona. In fact, during the brunch in the gazebo scene, I kept wondering if he was under the table holding Leona's tiny foot.)
I was surprised and hopeful as Gael in his chef's outfit led Leona across the lawn to his popup IHOP. He had his hands over her eyes ,and she must have commented on his bandaged fingers and held them to her cheek . Did he burn or cut them ? That was the sweetest moment I have seen between them since David revealed that Leona is Mar. The guy knows how to put on the moves . He had me at the yogurt the strawberries , but then the cup with Lewis tatooed sun and moon on it and "marry me again" on the bottom of the cup ....squeee..yes...yes..yes. I thought it was a bad idea bringing up the past with the fish fry story....no, Gael, no, not wise to open up that big can of worms. However, I noticed the cute looks On both of their faces when Gael paused and pulled back from the kiss to look at Leona. ...was he asking her " if you want my kiss, come and get it ." Was that Gael playing a little hard to get ? There is a proverb " There is always the one who kisses and the one who offers the cheek. " Well, I know David has always been Leon a's rescuer saving Leona , her twins, and loved ones time after time ....but ...Gael made her Eggo waffles and hot chocolate ...winner.
I, too, noticed that Leona didn't climb onto the bed with Gael for the family hug (fool) , but she did have her hands demurely my in his shoulders.
At this point, Leona' s iciness towards Gael seems to be melting a little, but will we ever hear her say, " David who????"
okay, I am off to get a tattoo and pick up some Eggo waffles . Have a good day.
Thank you so very much Liz.
"Clara needs to go to a home so she can sit with other-minded people and discuss what the world is coming to!" was perfect (as I smile away)...
At least David was honest with Camila. After last night, my gut feeling is that it's Leona or nothing. David will never get over her...
If Columba is relegated to bed rest, perhaps it will limit her cruel activities and machinations.
Cristobal is indeed incredible and the unsung galan here.
Diana
"In fact, during the brunch in the gazebo scene, I kept wondering if he was under the table holding Leona's tiny foot.)" OMG Susan, that was hysterical as was "popup IHOP!!"
"There is a proverb " There is always the one who kisses and the one who offers the cheek. " was great. Also "Well, I know David has always been Leon a's rescuer saving Leona , her twins, and loved ones time after time ....but ...Gael made her Eggo waffles and hot chocolate ...winner". Well said! You can live on love but chocolate and delicious delicacies don't hurt.
Thank you for your kind words.
I appreciate your noting Gael's fingers which appeared to be bandaged with clear tape. Leona was rather sweetly solicitous of him but I didn't understand either what had occurred so I was onto the next.
Let us know what tattoo you end up with :)
Diana
Diana, thanks. Glad you enjoyed my “highlights” aka the “bare bones” recap. I could not believe Martina visiting Imelda with the Bible in her hand. I think this novela is going to be a good one.
Liz, I am happy that the highlights helped out. Honorio is an old guy now but it looked like he was Hipólito’s driver way back when, so who knows? I can never remember Hipólito so I guess that is where the Honorífico came from. : ) Undoubtedly, Ignacio is that obnoxious of a person but he is really trying to get under the brothers’, especially Rogelio’s, skin. Yes, Beatriz and Irma are sisters. It is so hard trying to figure out who is who in these beginning episodes.
Jarifa, thank you for your notes from the couch . I am still pretty lost . There are a lot of characters, and the flashbacks leave me confused. The girl from the past is very pretty , so I am sure there is trouble ahead for the leads with her popping up.
The actor with the floppy locks playing Igy was an annoying baddie in the remake of La Madrastra,And I think he was also in Imperia de Menteras. He seems to always be cast as the annoying smart Aleck.
Maybe I can concentrate more on this show when El Amor Invencible ends.
Hi, Diana, I think just a first name. Eggos Al fresco have a special place in my heart.Maybe the tattoo should be "Eggos."
If you want the lyrics for the theme song ...Google " karaoke El Amor Invencible."
I love that song and also the orchestral theme song ...very dreamy. You can feel the sea breeze and sunshine when you listen .
Liz, Cristobal is a true galan, A prince of a husband.
Jarifa,,the first time I ever heard the name Hipolita was when I fell down the telenovela rabbit hole when I surfed into my first telenovela " Alborado" and saw TBLMOE as Don Luis and Lucero as the love of his life Hipolita played by Lucero. I had never heard that name before. I kept thinking Hippo and Hippy.
Susan, it isn’t easy keeping up with more than one novela at a time. I just wish they hadn’t started with double episodes.
Quick summary:
Rogelio comes from a wealthy family in Morelia where his mother Regina rules with an iron fist. She has four sons: Rogelio, Fernando, Luis, Marco. Her husband Hipólito has been dead for 20 years. Rogelio is the eldest and heads the family’s tourist transportation business in Mexico City. His brother Fernando is jealous of his power in the company. Martina wants Rogelio to marry Imelda the daughter of her friend Beatriz. She is from the right family since “appearances” are everything to Martina. Instead, Rogelio decides to marry a musician Paula. Martina is furious and treats her like scum even sending her divorce papers supposedly from Rogelio taking advantage of an early separation of the couple due to her meddling. Rogelio and Paula decide to reunite for the long haul in spite of his mother. Fernando is in love with Imelda who marries him to be a part of his powerful family. She still has it bad for Rogelio and has not have sex yet with Fernando. Through eavesdropping, Martina knows what is going on and tells Imelda to get on with her wifely duties so Paula doesn’t have her first grandchild. Martina has no idea that Paula is already pregnant. Unknown to Rogelio, Erika, who he was once engaged to, is back in town. She sees him on the street but avoids him when she sees Paula.
There is another major storyline. It seems that Martina’s husband Hipólito had a child out of wedlock with Irma who is Beatriz’s sister. It has been almost 40 years ago since Hipólito kicked her and his son Ignacio to the curb. Irma left Morelia at that time and now has returned with Ignacio so he can get his revenge for being abandoned by his father on his father’s family. He has a tourist transportation company of his own and is suddenly Rogelio’s biggest competitor. Ignacio and his mother also buy the property right next door to Martina and he is turning into an omnipresent annoyance. Rogelio knows something is wrong with this disturbing situation but hasn’t discovered what that is yet.
Hope this helps. : )
Gracias, Jarifa.
I think Ignacio is being obnoxious deliberately and he's an arrogant POS. He will probably stalk Paula to make life hell for both Rogelio and her because we know what Martina will make of this. He is likely to start at the top and work his way down because he probably did some homework and realizes that taking Rogelio down first will insure destruction of the company because none of his brothers can run it.
I am also thoroughly disgusted that the writers have taken the easiest way into another toxic situation by having Paula get pregnant. This will derail her career and Martina will likely lock her up. Does that mansion have a tower? Will she also try to disappear the baby out of the stubborn delusion that it couldn't be Rogelio's or -- God forbid -- if it's a girl? Will she try for a forged DNA result?
Something happened in the previous episode that is making me wonder whether Marcos isn't Martina's. That boy will be in for a bad time.
Jarifa, thank you for all the background information which is so helpful!
I haven't really seen Irma in any scenes yet but it looks like she is very toxic...
Talk about keeping your enemies close!!
Diana
Leona just can't resist telling Gael he disappointed her. Gael hasn't learnt aanything either if he thinks that if he had stayed with Leona's family, Ramses would have let them live. I really can't believe the outcome would have been the same. Ramses doesn't want his family members to be happy and let them live freely. How is it that Gael hasn't realised that? Leona's family would have had to run off to live in Australia and for that they'd have needed money. This is why Leona irritates me:doing one thing differently doesn't necessarily guarantee everything else would have been different or that you even would have had the chance to make things better. There are so many factors at play
Poor Camila. She deserves better than a man who can't seem to forget his teenage love. I wonder how things would have turned out had she chosen him instead of Gael, would he have loved her for all these years if she had been 'easy to win'? Because I'm suspecting that it's the fact she was unattainable and the fact he couldn't save her that made his feelings turn into this obsession. But as I don't like Leona and David, they can end up together. But maybe it's not fair to both Gael and David. One-sided love seems like a bad idea. I wonder if it's ever enough.
Jarifa, wow, thank you for that great summary , amiga. It helped a lot . I think one reason I have been watching novelas for years is that I enjoy watching The same actors playing in different shows. Also, there isnt much on tv that I want to watch anymore.
The first time I ever saw the actress playing Irma was " Amor Real." She played Adela Noriego's,sweet, supportive tia. She is a wonderful actress.
Urban, “Does the mansion have a tower?” Very good question since Martina acts with impunity. What makes you think Marco is not Martina’s?
Diana, Irma is played by Ana Berta Espín. You will recognize her when you see her. The actor is a very familiar face. For such a run-of-the-mill plot, writers are doing their best to keep this interesting.
Susan, ITA it is very interesting seeing these actors play different roles over the years. There are also so many who do movies and stage work as well as streaming productions these days. Nope, nothing too much on tv these days and it looks like there won’t be for a good while. That being said, I am in the middle of the Sharknado! marathon this afternoon as I clean. ; )
It's hard for me to watch Imelda being so mean to Fernando. So if she is being so stupid, does this mean she expects Rogelio will leave his wife and marry her? When she was complaining about being bored, I was wondering what her mother-in-law does all day. And what did Imelda do before she got married? Or has she returned from her university studies so recently that she hasn't had the time to get sufficiently bored yet? It can't be she is just interested in marriage. I know she saidit but this sounds like something someone who hasn't really thought about it would say. But maybe she actually said she only wanted to get married to Rogelio, which is perfectly true.
I doubt Rogelio will stand up for Paula when it will really be needed. I wonder if he actually likes living like this or if he is just used to it and thinks it's his duty. He talked about wanting to raise his kids in Morelia, but surely he can see it's going to be like living in hell if his mummy dearest doesn't stop acting like a strange version of a teenage girl. And it of course will all be Paula's fault. I wonder how long it will be before I hear another 'give her time/another chance'.
Why can't Luis (finally know his name) end up with Paula?
I can't watch Blanca and Marco because I get an urge to strangle him. I thought more than once that if men had to deal with thefemale versions of themselves, they definitely wouldn't marry those female versions. Blanca, run!
I was so irritated by the pregnancy plot.Aren't telenovelas supposed to be more modern now? In fact, it would be interesting to see a devoted couple that just doesn't want kids.I wonder how many Mexicans aren't actually interested in having children. Those telenovelas make it seem it's still 'odd' not to want them.
Does anyone remember what Imelda gave Fernando for his birthday?
Like many of you have stated, Leona has become very hard to like . At first, I felt so sorry for her because of the trauma she went through at the hands of the monstrous Ram , the loss of her newborn twins and her parents and sister in one stroke as she struggled with being an unwed pregnant teen .Awful. Young Adrian was, indeed ,a remarkably strong teen to step forward to care for Mar and her twins . Talk about mature. However, both Leona and David grew up and grew obsessed ...Leona with revenge on Ram ( and Gael) and David with Leona . What I didn't expect was Gael not being depicted as the villain. He was a teen who made his novia pregnant and then didn't man up ...That happens....however... He was terrified of the monster who was his father who reacted to the news by slamming an iron door on his hand. Yikes. As an adult, Gael wasn't depicted as a villain , just a guy with a horrible , controlling wife now in addition to his horrible controlling father Who seemed to have close by having affairs. . I think we have been seeing Gael on the hero's journey as he tries to be a better man, a better father . He keeps telling Leona that it is all because of her , but people have to want to change and Gael evidently wanted to change . David and Leona, on the other hand, keep singing the same sad song. Leona seems to have cooled off a bit about revenge now that Apollo got killed and Jo was in danger , so her song now is " I want my kids ." David's song has never changed " I want Mar \Leona. " I don't like Leona very much anymore . I am starting to feel embarrassed for Gael as he lays his heart out and puts on every move in his skill set as David lurks and Leona seems bored and unmoved most of the time.... . ouch. .....#tryingtohard The writers are definitely playing with us as we look for cluesas to which guy Leona will finally chose .Are we supposed to still like Leona And see her as the avenging angel ? ?
waterlily, "I can't watch Blanca and Marco because I get an urge to strangle him. I thought more than once that if men had to deal with thefemale versions of themselves, they definitely wouldn't marry those female versions. Blanca, run!" True words never said. At least she is following Auntie Eva's advice but for how long?
There was a facial expression from Michaela that said she knows something others don't. I also wonder whether Marco is Martina's child or was he switched at birth with a dead baby or even a live healthy girl. Martina would be a nightmare parent to a daughter.
So we now know that Hypolito died 20 years ago. That would mean that Marco never knew him and probably only Rogelio and Fernando have any real memories of him.
Arranged marriages by definition have to run against human nature. That makes us no more than livestock.
Super job, Diana. That quotation is a keeper - love it.
Ah! Cristobal and Gael were so attentive to their lady loves. Nice reprieve from all the shooting & poisoning & trafficking.
I'm betting Leona will finally give in to her love for Gael, but only after Ramses is defeated. The final epi maybe?
I got a kick out of Silvano exchanging Ken's regular man clothes for a flowing red wig and gown to explain things to Lili. But I feel bad for Flor, who is doing the right thing. She deserves some romance. Maybe the cop who isn't such a**hole any more.
Jarifa, thanks for your notes. I'm still trying to grasp who's who.
Yikes, Paula is pregnant already? Ugh, I predict mom- and sis-in-law will interfere.
ITA Rogelio wanting to continue living in the mansion is a turnoff, but I suppose this means more wild and awkward all-family dining room scenes.
Niecie, yes, the cop who started out as a no might become a yes for Flor. I noticed that he was in the promo for the Vencer show. He seems to have galan vibes .
Hope you are right about Leona finally finding the love she once had for Gael by the finale. Mar is gone and is never coming back . Can Leona ever heal enough from that early trauma and love Gael again ? I have to start liking Leona again to want her to have a HEA with Gael.
Niecie, I have never been good with character names. I lucked out and found an online list with thumbnail photos for a good number of the characters. They used to use characters’ names in closed captioning when they were speaking but aren’t doing that anymore. Yes! Rogelio needs to put his mummy dearest in her place and in this case, it means moving out. Paula has been too easy on him as he has repeatedly asked her for another chance without really doing anything to change the situation with his mummy dearest.
"One-sided love seems like a bad idea. I wonder if it's ever enough" was an excellent question waterlily. I suspect that often, it isn't...
Thank you Niecie! "I'm betting Leona will finally give in to her love for Gael, but only after Ramses is defeated. The final epi maybe?" I am glad I'm not alone in wishing for a happy ending even at this late date. I've felt all along Ramses needs to die before anyone can breathe a sigh of relief let alone decide the path of the rest of their lives. As long as he lives, no one is safe.
Susan, Leona is not one of my favorite people at the moment either (to say the least). She is going to have to soften considerably to truly embrace the possibility of love with Gael. Again :)
Like you Niecie and Susan, the young rogue sort of reformed policeman for Flor would be great! Does anyone know his name? :)
Diana
Blogger ate my comment addressed to waterlily, Niecie and Susan so will simply say thank you Niecie for your kind words.
I am hoping for a HEA but realize it won't be til Ramses is dead and that it might not occur til the bitter end as you noted Niecie!
Diana
Hey, a monarch butterfly got into my car with me today. I haven't seen one in years around here.
Highlights from the couch . . .
The Iturbide's and Ignacio
Ignacio appears at the Iturbide's company where the drivers are protesting the conditions of the break room. Ignacio says he has the same problem and he suggests to Fernando that they solve their problem together and remodel the room ASAP. Rogelio is cut out of the process that he was addressing and is angry he was not consulted. Fernando thinks he is being petty. Throughout the episode, Rogelio and Fernando are at each other's throats mainly over Ignacio.
Fidel tells Rogelio that there is no record of Ignacio having ever been in the USA, nobody knows him or his mother in Morelia. Rogelio suggests that he might have another name he has been using. Fidel will have the detective continue investigating. In the meantime, Rogelio wants to buy some property for the company. Ignacio scoops it up first under a false name (Mr. Cantú) and offers to sell it to Rogelio for 2X the original price. Later, Fidel finds out that Cantú might be associated somehow with Ignacio.
Iturbide is also busy insinuating himself into the music school that Paula and Cecilia are trying to establish. After losing the original house, Cecilia takes a look a the house that Ignacio was suggesting. When a bank loan is turned down because of her credit, Ignacio offers to back her. Ignacio also starts to plant doubts about Paula's role in the school. Will she be able to be a part of it being pregnant and having a baby and all? Cecilia asks Paula if she will be able to do it all. Paula says yes.
Martina and Paula
Martina is happy in secret that she is going to be a grandmother but doesn't give Paula any satisfaction. Paula confronts her about not being able to rent the property she was going to rent for her music school because Martina told the landlady not to rent to her. Martina smirks and is surprised that Paula doesn't know her by now. She assures her she will be finding out. Paula tells her if she wants war, war she will have and leaves the room. She hears a thump and sees Martina is "unconscious" on the floor. Martina ends up in the hospital where she tells her doctor that it all an act so that her family treats her better. He is convinced to go along with her ruse and he tells the family that she has to be treated well and not upset because next time her heart might be able to stand it. Paula eventually apologizes and Martina admits to her it was all an act to keep her sons close. Rogelio finds out through the eavesdropping network that Paula had admitted to Eva that she was responsible for Martina's "attack." Paula decides to not tell Rogelio that his mother was putting on an act. In the last scene, he wants to know what Paula did to his mother.
Rogelio and Paula
Rogelio is overjoyed that the is going to be a father. It was interesting that Paula told Cecilia first who in turn told her buddy Ignacio. So Ignacio knew that Rogelio was going to be a father before he did. Paula doesn't want to take off from work but morning sickness does her in.
Imelda and Fernando
Martina tells Fernando that if he is not more forceful with his wife, he is going to lose her. Fernando and Imelda end up for the weekend at some nice house out in the country. He is in the mood for romance but she isn't. He won't take no for an answer and rapes her. She spends the rest of her time there taking a shower and sobbing. When they have to go back to the city to see about Martina, she finds a knife to protect herself from him and slashes his hand when he reaches towards her. He apologizes for what he did saying he hadn't read her correctly. Imelda has had it with him and doesn't want him near her.
Erika and Rogelio
Erika is now the new head of the OB/GYNE department at the local hospital after having lived in the USA for a while. Rogelio has a dream that Paula is having her baby and Erika is delivering it and that the baby's name is . . . Lucas. We then see a boy who looks about 7 ? years old arriving in Morelia to be with his mother Erika. We get the feeling in another scene that Lucas could be Rogelio's. Erika is in no rush to have that talk with Rogelio.
Felipa
Felipa and her friends have been saving to pay for infertility treatments for her. The money was stolen but Martina is going to pay for her treatments herself.
Marco
Marco is torn between his motorcycle chick who seems to have other boyfriends in addition to him and Blanca.
Beatriz and Irma
Beatriz visits her sister Irma. Irma talks about how she suffered having to keep quiet about her love for Hipólito but owes nobody an explanation. Beatriz warns her about what is going to happen to her when Martina discovers who she is. Irma has no plans on stopping divine justice. She has no plan on stopping Ignacio from getting what is his. Beatriz wants to be left out of whatever Irma is involved in and does not want her daughter to suffer because of it. Irma threatens her and tells her to leave and not to steal anything on her way out. She has it all inventoried. Beatriz heads to Martina's.
That is it for tonight.
Jarifa, thank you so much for your fantastic recap, brimming with delicious details. There was so much I didn't understand (of the hour or so I saw) so thank you for shedding a light on what transpired. I had no idea Beatriz and Irma were sisters along with many other things.
"Eavesdropping network" was perfect.
I couldn't believe Martina (sort of) warmly congratulated Rogelio on the big news but barely deigned to look at Paula. What a sneaky fraud she is! Paula laying out the matching mother, father and baby pj's was adorable. Paula is by far my favorite character here.
Erika's son seemed like a sweetheart. I wonder if he is Rogelio's.
Speaking of, Rogelia seems way too influenced by his mother. They need to leave the "nest" (vipers) and strike out on their own.
Felipa should be careful, listening at doors can be very unhealthy. I think Imelda "made" Felipa tell her what she overheard (was it something about Erika)?
I was shocked Martina offered to pay for Felipa's fertility treatment! She must have an ulterior motive, right??
I have to make up a cheat sheet for this. Thanks for giving me much to add to it Jarifa.
Diana
Thanks, Diana. : ) Imelda made Felipa tell her that Paula had admitted to being responsible for getting Martina so upset that she collapsed. That info went to Fernando who told Rogelio who then confronted Paula at the end.
I had to laugh when Martina admitted the truth to the doctor and then to Paula. What a character! If she weren’t so cruel, she could be funny.
I have yet to watch episode 12 but the thought of Paula not telling Rogelio the truth sort of ruined it for me. Why exactly did she keep quiet? I suppose now she will tell the truth, given that Rogelio thinks it's her fault. Why exactly did Martina admit to her it was all a lie?I get angry every time a good character keeps quiet about something they know. Rogelio needs to wake up and realise how controling and manipulative his mother is because the alternative is for him to live with her and separate from his wife. He will have to choose between the two bcause even Paula's patience must have limits. She says she loves him, but can't she see he does absolutely nothing effective to make the situation better. I'm surprised bty that 'fainting spell'. I somehow thought this was what desperate wives did. Martina seems a bit too...clever for this? Maybe she's not as though as she pretends to be. So like Ramses from invencible, she wants her family members with her but doesn't want them to be happy.
Marco'didn't read her correctly'? Oh please! No is no.I can't believe Martina actually told him the solution is to be more foreceful. Does she seriously believe this? She must, otherwise she'd realise whatthis is and that it will ruin everything. It's a pity Imelda didn't listen to her mother, who did warn her.
I don't know why, but these plots with 'a child I didn't know about' twists are a turn-off for me.If Rogeliowasn't so influenced by his mother and so willing to mistrust Paula, the thought of her having to raise a child he had with another woman wouldn't bother me that much. The guy is not worth all the trouble. But Erica would have to die for this to happen and I so wish they'd ditch these sorts of plots.
Martina admits everything to Paula. The woman confuses me. Paula should tell everything to Rogelio and tell him he has to choose because the scenes of him having a go at her will get tiring soon. Paula's 'free spirit' and 'independence' will stop seeming so amazing if she will keep giving in to Rogelio.
Jerifa, thanks for explaining that whole terreno business because I was confused and didn't know what went on there.
Waterlily: I am enjoying seeing Gema Garoa (Imelda) wreaking havoc as an EVIL Antagonist.
Steve Boudreaux
Great work, Jarifa.
I've had a bad vibe about Fernando from the outset of this tale. He looks mean and small-minded. Obviously he is trouble because from the outset he argued with Rogelio about the business when he clearly has no people-management skills. This means Rogelio has to clean u[ any mess he makes.
If he actually raped Imelda he is also the scum of the earth. However Imelda is no better for marrying him to be near Rogelio who has clearly demonstrated that she isn't his type. She should take whatever empty degree she has and go to work or to a better hunting ground.
I think I understand Paula's failure to rat Martina out: She doesn't want conflict with Rogelio. However, she is creating more problems for her future by saying nothing now that Martina fessed that up to her which was a clear declaration of war. She was saying that she will do whatever it takes to get whatever she wants. Rogelio needs to have his eyes propped open with toothpicks. He knows she tried to force Paula to sign divorce papers on which his own signature was forged. Shouldn't that be enough to realize that Martina is unhinged? In the real world that would be a crime.
The other society women all seem to have Martina's number but hang around her so they themselves don't become victims.
Since Felipa is the cook I am now predicting that Martina will soon demand that she prepare something harmful to Paula, but that is likely to wait until after she has the baby.
Will Erica end up being the one to deliver that baby? If her son is Rogelio's why did she name him Lucas? Did she run when realizing that Martina would be an MIL from Hell or did Martina drive her out? We need those answers.
More later.
Jarifa , thank you for a great recap as this story unfolds .
I think I dislike Imelda even more than Martina , Who is just over the top nuts and trying to control everyone in her orbit. I had such a sweet, gentle mother in law , so it is hard to imagine what it would be like to have someone like that in my life .
Am I wrong that Martina seemed to look lovingly at photo of Hipolto ?
Irma and Beatriz are quite a pair . Beatriz always looks like she is angry . Irma looks regal and confident .
Wow, having your baby delivered by your husband's ex would be a nightmare . As soon as I saw that young boy, I figured he might be Rogelio's son . He doesn't have his black hair , but he is tall and lanky .
I got a kick out Marco flopping down on the bed next to his mother . That seemed believable to me . He is the free spirit in that family .
The cook played a very funny, fast talking good character in the show I watched her in by Azteca 9 years ago. I don't want her to be a villain .
waterlily, supposedly Paula kept quiet was because she knows how much Rogelio idolizes his mother and didn’t want to hurt him. Personally, I do not think that supporting his fantasies of his mother was a wise choice. Fernando has no excuse for raping his wife. They never should have married in the first place. Will she end up pregnant? Almost everyone does these days in these novelas.
Urban, when Martina told Paula about feigning her illness, Paula said she would not let her near her baby. Martina threatened her saying the baby would be just fine but who knows what would happen to her. So, I agree that something special could be cooked up for Paula eventually. You are also right why Martina has the “friends” she has.
Was it Felipa’s hubby who saw Beatriz leaving Irma’s? That bit of info will surely make its way to Martina.
I want to know the backstory of Beatriz and Irma especially with Irma basically calling Beatriz a thief.
Jarifa, thanks so much for your highlights, they provide the much needed information for last night.
Regarding Lucas, before Paula became pregnant I seem to remember them discussing baby names and Rogelio wanted the name Lucas. Not sure if my memory is right! Paula picked a name for a girl. So I’m sure that is Martina’s first grandchild! Erika probably fled because of Martina.
Martina has so many contrasting thoughts. She faked her illness so the sons would treat her better but then tells Paula, who is racked with guilt over causing this, that it was all fake. She could have made Paula’s life more miserable by letting her continue to think she caused the illness.
I thought Imelda looked a little uncomfortable when Martina had her friends at her bedside. I think she was talking about decorating the nursery. I’m wondering if Imelda might eventually realize she and Paula need each other.
Did Imelda think marriage was just being roommates. This is like Perdona, where you don’t want sex, just the husband. Fernando seems to realize she doesn’t love him, at least he should! I almost feel sorry for him, he’ll always be second best. But he should realize Ignacio is not his friend. He is just helping Ignacio in his plans.
It seems Irma has something on her sister as she seemed to threaten her when she told her to leave.
I wonder if Ignacio is using Cecelia to get info on the family. And Paula tells her everything!
If I were Paula my bags would already be packed. She’ll never have a say in her baby’s life!
Liz
Liz, great call on Ignacio using Cecilia to get info on the Iturbide’s. Cecilia also seems interested in him which just enhances the situation for him. I couldn’t believe her telling him that Paula was pregnant as if it were hers to tell considering they both know Ignacio. Yes, Paula should be packed and out of there and make Rogelio follow her to a new home like in Mexico City. I think you are right that “Lucas” was Rogelio’s choice for a baby boy name.
"Was it Felipa’s hubby who saw Beatriz leaving Irma’s? That bit of info will surely make its way to Martina".
Yes, Jarifa it was!! (can't believe I was actually able to answer a question) :)
Diana
Great! Thanks, Diana. : ) I like this group of hired help and that they have given them a role of their own in this novela.
Intense hate and love - Part 1/3
Camila and David are still in the stables with the horses. Camila is low-key flirting with him but David is constantly shifting the conversation other things, such as the horses. Camila then actually tells him she loves him (romantically, te amo) and that he's the best thing that has happened to her. David just awkwardly hugs her and they keep walking. Awkward!
They go to David's house. They talk about having a good time and they almost kiss... but of course Clara sees them and accidentally drops a vase, so they don't kiss. Clara apologizes (wow!). David says they were "just talking". Clara seems to like Camila. I thought the only person she liked was herself!
Leona and AnaJu teach Benja how to swim.
The doctor tells Columba what to do to avoid having a miscarriage. If only the poor doctor knew that he'll save a life if the baby isN'T born... After he leaves, Columba pretends to be anxious about the baby. Ramsés doesn't buy it and reminds her what she did to Óliver. She hates her kids. He asks her what happened between her and David.
Columba says that nothing happened. Ramsés doesn't believe her that easily and says that she knows what happens to traitors and the reason she's alive is the baby. He asks her if she loves him or if she just wants the riches. Colu claims she loves him. Yeah, right. Because everyone knows Ramsés is such a good catch, especially because of his personality. Who wouldn't want a cold blooded killer and trafficker, ladies?
Ram tells Romeo's dad to get some doctors to do some examinations on Columba. After Romeo's dad leaves, he asks Colu what will be the outcome of a paternity test on the baby; will it be his or David's? Colu says he can't do a test now, he'll put both her and the baby's life in danger. He doesn't seem to care. She tells her to be careful, because once the doors of hell open, they don't close. The moment he leaves, Colu calls someone and tells him she needs to know where David is.
Gael tells Josefa he has to face Ramsés. Josefa says he can't do this alone. He replies that it's got to be him, he should have done this many years ago. He tells her about Leona giving him a second chance. Josefa looks happy.
Romeo arrives looking pissed off. Ram notices it and asks him about it. He tells him he was expelled. Ram gives him a glass and tells him to break it with his fist. He does and his hand looks horrible, there's blood all over it. Ram tells him he wants his outside to look the same as his inside. Romeo says he admits it, he's dirty (sucio) but he's been beaten by everyone already (lol) and he's his partner. Ram tells him his father's his partner, he isn't and attacks him too. Romeo manages to tell him he knows who's his grandson, it's Benjamín. Ram wasn't expecting that, he doesn't believe him at first. He flashes back to a scene they had together.
Consuelo has also come to David's house. They talk about the kids helping in some sort of organisation (I didn't really catch that). The conversation goes to Consuelo's channel, Clara starts being Clara again. David tries to get her to stop talking. Camila says she'd like to fund Consuelo's channel and if she agrees she'd like to be a talk there about the discrimination disabled people face. Consuelo agrees. (Is Clara still going to like Camila after this?)
Intense hate and love - Part 2/3
Gael makes a video to sent to AnaJu. He says he understands that she doesn't want to see him but there are some things he wants to tell her, that's why he's making the video. He has always loved her (the verb "amar" again, this time it's love between family members). He shows a bag he's always had with him, in all the countries they travelled. He starts showing her some contents of the bag, starting with her first clothes. In my video, there was a weird cut there. If there was anything important cut, please add it.
The doctor that will do Lola's surgery is talking with Calixto privately. He says it's a risky surgery. Oh no. Cal tells him he managed to single handedly deliver Marena's babies, he can do that too (because it's common knowledge delivering babies and doing breast augmentation surgeries is pretty much the same thing). The doctor says it's very different, Marena wasn't supposed to live. Calixto won't listen. They get in the room Lola is. They show her the implants and give her anesthesia. Calixto, even though the doctor told him to get out, is going to be there for the surgery. Umm, okay, sure, not weird at all...
Jacinta and Matías are also in the home where the rest of the family is. Jacinta is worried about Lola. She says Jeremías was right when he said she should have looked for her everywhere. Everyone tries to calm her down and tell her that it's not true. Camila adds that Jeremías was gas lighting her and explains he said everything that his fault was Jacinta's. Everyone is supportive. Everyone except Clara, who says she could have done more. Matías says he'll contact a private investigator, Clara starts being annoying again. She says that the Torrenegros always cause harm or something! David says it's not true for all Torrenegros, Camila is one too, but she's not causing harm. Clara has the nerve to say that David's relationship with Camila is different than Jacinta's with Matías because David is a MAN with NO KIDS, what?! Jacinta FINALLY puts her in her place. (I honestly hate Clara at this point. What a misogynist.)
More product placement, FF-->.
AnaJu is with Leona when she receives Gael's video. She wants to erase it but Leona wants her to see it. AnaJu says that she loves him, but he could have stopped Ramsés etc. Leona says she feels the same, she knows he loves her but he could have stopped many things (says Leona, Apolo's death and Flor's shooting was partially because of her!) Cami and David come downstairs and Cami and Leona talk about AnaJu's 16th birthday. Cami says that she's AnaJu's mom, Leona says that both of them are her moms and they can organise the party together. Did I mention Leona was death staring her and David as they were getting down?
Ooh, we get an add that says the Gran Final is getting close!
Later, Leona is talking with Consuelo. She says she wants to sew AnaJu's 16th party dress and whines about Cami. Consuelo says that Cami is a good woman blah blah. Leona tells her about her giving Gael a second chance. Consuelo asks her who has her heart's keys though, Gael or David? Leona looks skeptical.
Gael goes to see Benja. He (Benja) tells him he is a coward who didn't stay with his family. Gael admits that he was a coward, but now he's not the same Gael from the past.
Intense hate and love - Part 3/3
Leona says to Consuelo she loves both Gael and David and we hear a LOOOONG conversation about why she loves each one of them. At one point she says that Gael has made a lot of errors (look who's talking! The Queen of errors! I don't deny that Gael HAS made a lot of errors, but Leona saying that is pretty annoying.) Consuelo tells her to give her heart some days to choose.
AnaJu is with Teo. They'll probably watch Gael's video together and then order pizza to talk about it, yum! Teo's phone rings and he picks it up. It's Leona, who wants him to ask AnaJu discreetly about the color of her 16th birthday party dress.
Colu needs more exams for the baby, they can't be done here, they need to go to a hospital. Ram looks less than thrilled with this prospect. Colu starts whining that he loves AnaJu more and asks him why does he love her? Ram says that even from when she was a baby, she looked just like his sister who died at birth. He thinks back to the last time they talked. Columba says that he should look at it differently: AnaJu is his only weakness and therefore should die. Ramsés gets pissed at her and tells her that if she truly loves the baby she's carrying as she claims, he should not mess with AnaJu.
Gael and Benja's scene continues. Benja doesn't want to see him again. He says David was a much better father for him than he was (the opposite happened with AnaJu. She said to Leona that Gael was a much better father for her than Calixto) and starts listing what David did for him. Gael calls him "son", Benja tells him not to call him that; he'll never call him "dad" as well. Both Gael and Benja look devastated. Gael leaves. Benja starts crying.
And with Benja's tears, we have the Fin del Capítulo.
Sorry for the delay... We have a massive heatwave here, it must be about 40°C (104°F). I absolutely HATE the heat and can't stand it. I probably have something like immunity to cold weather and I get warm at even low temperatures, like 20°C (68°F), so you get the picture.
That was an interesting episode. I have no clue who Leona will choose in the end. She seems to want to give Gael a second chance, but then again she said she dies of jealousy when she sees David with Camila... I'm not even sure what I want anymore, Gael's character arc is great and I start to like him, he's truly changed... David is a good person, he's just very annoying... Leona is definitely annoying, especially when she throws the blame to other people and never stops to think what the hell she's about to do... She's completely reckless! Sometimes I think she should stay with David, they can be annoying together.
Weirdo, thank you for your sharp, witty and insightful recap ("low-key flirting" in particular). You captured everything, especially the romantic, or rather the never-ending quest for it perfectly.
"...everyone knows Ramsés is such a good catch, especially because of his personality. Who wouldn't want a cold blooded killer and trafficker, ladies?" had me shaking my head in laughter. Excellent!
"David just awkwardly hugs her and they keep walking" was exactly right. So exasperating. Watching the two of them with Jacinta and Matias I kept thinking this is how it should be but is just missing the mark. It seems clear David is fond of Camila but doesn't love her. A shame but...
Your comment that Leona "...dies of jealousy when she sees David with Camila" was spot on! She was emitting hate emissions seeing them together. But is she jealous because she loves David or is it the thought he will no longer love and adore her and ride to her rescue at every opportunity??
I always think Consuelo and Camila could become very good friends. But sadly, Leona would bristle at that as well!
I really felt for Gael, making the video and showing AnaJu's baby clothes. But enough...Start channeling that sad energy into a huge shot of adrenaline that will get you up and momving. I lothed Leona jumping on AnaJu's bandwagon that "he could have stopped Ramsés etc. Leona says she feels the same"...Basta!
I did not understand what Gael and Benja said to each other in that last scene but thankfully you translated. "Gael calls him "son", Benja tells him not to call him that; he'll never call him "dad" as well. Both Gael and Benja look devastated". Just heartbreaking!!
Try and stay safe and cool Weirdo!
Diana
Weirdo, thank you for the great recap with every detail. I have to go by the visual , so you let me know many things . It's Bern hot and humid here, too, but not as hot as where you are .
Gael showed Ana her first bottle and A dolphin stuffed toy. He was so sweet . My heart breaks for him . Benjamin rejecting him and raving about David must have cut him to the quick. It's frustrating the way everyone is piling up on him . Its hard to watch him take all these people constantly telling him what a coward he was ....when he was a teenager. ..because most teenage boys could stand up to a criminal monster father. Everybody wants to throw stones.
Leona tells Consuela that she loves both Gael and David. Really? I am starting to feel that something was broken in Mar that fateful night when the twins were born, and it can never be fixed. Sometimes when someone has a traumatic event that makes them fall to pieces , the person can never put the puzzle completely back together . I think Leona has become very jealous of Camila. She's like a child who puts down a toy she is no longer interested in but sudddn!y decides she wants it when another child picks it up. I think she likes Gael's stoned in love adoration and his romantic moves and kisses ( He must have had a lot of practice with those girlfriends that Col hated ), but I don't think she is in love with him. I dont think she actually loves either of them . I don't think she can say To either of them " I like you . I love you. I am in love with you."
Thanks, Diana and Susan, for your comments.
Diana, "But is she jealous because she loves David or is it the thought he will no longer love and adore her and ride to her rescue at every opportunity??" was perfect! I don't remember myself disliking a female protagonist that much. She is pretty egotistical. She doesn't care if her plans hurt others, even when these others are her KIDS. I also have had enough of her toying with David and Gael. Choose, woman! You can't keep them both! I think she "loves" Gael because he is willing to fight against Ramsés and David because he's her bodyguard. Ugh.
Susan, thanks for the info on the missing scene. Ugh! I can't stand it when some scenes are cut from my video! It keeps me wondering what else I missed!
I loved "She's like a child who puts down a toy she is no longer interested in but suddenly decides she wants it when another child picks it up. " That's exactly right!
I'm glad this is going to end. I'm still enjoying it, but it should end. Great acting in this one but not so great plot lines.
Weirdo, thanks for the great recap. I have had no time to watch lately so this really helped me out. : )
Gracias, Jarifa. Still feeling my way around and your Notes from the Couch are super helpful.
"No" means "no," but Imelda is no prize. By the smirk on her face when she was holding the knife on her husband, I'd say she knows cutting him, afterward, wasn't necessary and she is pleased to have something to hold over his head to manipulate him. She could move out and get a divorce -- though pressing rape charges is iffy in this town. But instead, I see her angling to trade in Fernando for Rogelio. She and Fernando are both loco.
With friends like Cecilia, who needs enemies? She talks way too much to someone she just met, though she doesn't know he's Rogelio's arch enemy.
Here, both good and bad guys are too damn nosey. It's so annoying to see so much eavesdropping and no one closing their own door.
Niecie, glad my highlights are helpful. The characters are turning out to be quite a motley crew with plenty of the usual suspects. LOL
Thanks, Weirdo. As always, you brought the details I needed and choice snark that gives me giggles.
Silly nilly Lola trusts clueless Calixto to the max. She's young and healthy, so I guess the surgery is risky because this is not the doc's specialty and he lacks adequate staff and equipment.
So unlike Benja to be unforgiving with Gael. Benja, remember he thought you were dead, so how could he papa you?
I notice Leona's hair is more wavy now. Is she more relaxed and ready to let Gael curl up her hair even more?
Niecie, you gave me a giggle. Yes, I noticed that Leona has changed her hairstyle from lioness to beachbabe waves (perhaps the call of the sea) , and yes, maybe Gael has started curling her locks ...and maybe her toes next. However, she seems to be resisting his charms as best she can. #dontwanttolikeyou
And the operation was unnecessary , stupid, and reckless with Cal hovering ...no mask or scrubs . Dumb. meh.
Yes, sweet Benja with his forgiving heart up until now can't forgive his pleading, apologetic biofather. Hey, Benja, he was a little older than you Are when that tragedy happened 16 years ago . Would you have been able to stand up to a father like Ram? Everyone has to simmer down before they continue throwing those stones at Gael and walk a mile in his flipflops. #mixingmetaphors
I expected Leona to change her tune regarding Gael when she was with Ana Ju, but here we go again. I've realised that listening to her is like watching someone's thoughts in their head constantly. I mean those thoughts you can have over and over. But here the problem is that I can't switch her off. Can someone hit her over the head with the Bible or something? Someone made a good point about Leona brissling at the idea Camila and Consuelo could be friends. I remember wondering how her experience turned her into such a selfish person. Is it the fact Consuelo's family always agreed with her whenever she said it's all Gael's fault and that they were willing to move elswhere to help her? It's like no one ever challenged the way she sees things and everyone, Gael included, is ready to die for her when she only thinks of herself and how much she suffered.
I was surprised Camila offered to fund Consuelo's chanel. I don't know why, but her insistence she and David have a chance made me think she is the sort of person who finds it hard to take rejection well and wouldn't find it easy to be rejected by Clara.
Columba doesn't know Ramses if she thinks itt wise to suggest her murder Ana Ju. Keep your mouth shut if you want to live, woman.
Consuelo's 'she needs a few days to choose' made me laugh. Does Leona look for a house or a husband? Those few days won't change much if she is so confused. Did the writers make her this unlikable on purpose? I'm genuinely confused by how they chose to write her character.
The recap and comments have to be the best part of the episode. Now I'm amused and get to express my annoyance and feel validated because everyone else is just as annoyed as I am:) Otherwise I'd just be mad at the writers.
Thanks, Weirdo, I enjoyed your recap.
I think this episode is the calm before the storm. Columba thinks AnaJu should die because she is Ramses’ weakness. And I got the impression, which could be wrong, that Ramses wants to kill the twin, Benja, from when he found out about him. To hurt Leona!
I didn’t realize Columba asked for David. I thought she was trying to get fake DNA! I think the baby is David’s, I can’t believe he never figured out he was drugged.
I believe Camila and Clara got along well at another meeting in the house. I think they had just met. Of the main adult characters I like Gael, Matias, Josefa, Flor, Silvano, Jacinta, and Cristobal and Consuelo. I guess that’s most of the good guys. When I started typing I thought there were only a few!
I really don’t care about Lola. I hope she survives for her mom’s sake, but this seems to be where she learns her lesson. Or Cal rejects her. The doctor doesn’t feel capable of doing the surgery, but Cal presses on!
Liz
I was surprised that Ram asked Col about David . Col only mentioned that the baby could be David's when she was only with Leona, David, and Gael to twist the knife in Leona. Why does Ram have suspicions about David being the possible babydaddy?
I feel, at this point, Leona is incapable of really forgiving Gael...ever. In all their scenes together, he is pouring his heart out and she is holding back with that cold, vaguely suspicious, tired look on her face . This girl has a temper and holds a grudge. Remember how angry she was at David when she discovered that he knew Benjamin was her son and never told him. She gave back his ring, and he got several slaps in the next couple episodes . Now, she and David both treat Gael like the enemy even though Gael promised to help her bring Ram to justice. Remember all the confessions and mskeup kisses on the roof. Gael seemed to think he had a chance with her after he promised to be her partner in revenge on hjs father. However, she doesn't want Gael's help . He is left home while she prefers David as her ride or die partner. This girl just can't forgive or trust Gael no matter what she says. She is very jealous of David with Camila. Would she be jealous if a woman seemed interested in Gael ? If she still has any leftover teenage love affair feelings left for this guy, she is hiding them. Gael still wears his heart on his sleeve and begs for her to love him. The brunch in the gazebo had me hopeful . Let's see how long she remembers the Eggos, hot chocolate , And teacup proposal . I want to see her look at Gael the same way he looks at her. I haven't seen that yet. This guy is trying so hard it hurts me .Meanwhile histwins reject him .
"Consuelo's she needs a few days to choose' made me laugh. Does Leona look for a house or a husband? Those few days won't change much if she is so confused".
Love it Liz! So, so true.
Diana
I don't think Fernando is smart enough to realize that Ignacio has ulterior motives. Rogelio is smart enough to suspect him and to have him investigated. I wish he would suspect Martina's actions.
Highlights from the couch . . .
No novelas tomorrow BUT "Eternamente amándonos" will be on Friday at 6:00 Central.
-BTW, in yesterday's episode, Paula met with the director of the school she is working for who happens to be the guy that Rogelio put on notice. It was like looking back into 1970's. The guy basically called Paula "sweetie", ogled her and told her she had a good set of "lungs." ( Really? ) She ignored it all.
-Paula confesses to Rogelio that she was arguing with Martina when Martina had her fainting episode. She tries to explain that she cannot live like Martina expects her to and that Martina stopped her rental for her school. She will work during her pregnancy and when her child is born. Rogelio tries to talk her out of it but she is steadfast in her decision. Rogelio tells his mother not to treat Paula so badly because Paula said that she doesn't want her baby growing up in a household where she is disliked. Paula finds a gun with Rogelio's clothes in a drawer in their bedroom. He says it was his dad's but he will store it in his office from now on.
- Felipa's husband Melitón did not let Martina (or us down). Felipa gives Martina a heads up about Beatriz leaving Irma's house while Beatriz is visiting Martina. What could she be up to? Martina brings Imelda with her and pays Irma a visit to warn her and her son to keep away from her sons if they do not want to deal with her herself. She is a formidable enemy.
-Melitón confesses to Felipa that he took the money for the infertility treatments. He thought he could multiply the money playing cards. He lost it all and has some gambling debt on top of it all. She manages to get the money back by lying to Imelda about the identity of the man with the patch outside of the mansion by saying showed him money. Imelda gives her money to pay the guy and, in exchange, Felipa will act as her spy. Felipa will go with Melitón to pay off his debt. Honorio is still interested in Micael beyond being friends.
-Martina is not pleased that Marco has a motorcycle tattoo on his back and is not going to his classes at the university as he should.. Marco attacks Blanca with kisses but she manages to escape. He smiles. She daydreams about getting engaged to him. He brings his blondie girlfriend Jennifer home to dinner. Martina gives her the stink eye.
-Fidel has discovered that Ignacio has been working with Roberto Cantú and his brother and that is whose name he was using however at this time they do not have enough evidence to file charges against him. Rogelio confronts Ignacio and grabs him in front of Cecilia accusing him of trying to put him out of businsss. He asks what kind of business is he in if he has to use a strawman to front for him. On his way home, Ignacio is attacked by someone in a car who is shooting at him. The next morning, the police arrest Rogelio for the attack. Martina calls Benito the police official in charge and threatens his job by going over his head to the governor if Rogelio is not released instantly. She doesn't know that Ignacio is there making his complaint and making sure Rogelio doesn't receive any special treatment. After Fidel brings the security recording from the company, it is proven that Rogelio was at work when the attack took place. The security guard could also be a witness. Rogelio is freed.
-Cecilia comes running to jail and sees Ignacio. She asks what his problem is with Rogelio and why does he want to be a business associate with her anyway. He is a businessman is the short answer. He trusts her. He puts a guilt trip on her if she doesn't trust him. Cecilia takes Ignacio's part when she talks to Laura and the brothers.
-Rogelio tells his brothers that the investigation into Ignacio will continue. He is trying to destroy them. Fernando agrees. Rogelio says that maybe Fernando should have thought about that before putting Ignacio before his own brother.
-Imelda tells Fernando that she is willing to give him a second chance.
-Cecilia has been spending lots of time with Ignacio. Paula has the money to rent the house Ignacio suggested but she doesn't. He offers to loan her the money. She accepts and they kiss. She shows the house to Paula but never tells her about Ignacio's involvement.
-Erika admits to her friend that seeing Rogelio's wedding photo bothered her. Her son is having a hard time adapting to a new city. He would rather be in LA because he misses his friends there. She takes him around Morelia and he admits he does like it but he doesn't like the "zapote" flavor of ice cream she has him try. (zapote is a tropical fruit grown in Mexico)
-Eva sees a guy with an eye patch who recognizes her when she is out and about. He talks to his boss about having run into her. It seems that Eva might have been an exotic dancer or a working girl ?? earlier in her life. We see a younger version of her being physically thrown out of a club and the patch guy grinning. The patch guy tracks Eva down to the mansion and starts an extortion scheme I am guessing for his silence about her past.
-WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE: It just happens that Paula is singing with her bandmate on the street. She wants to record a special song for Rogelio and asks a woman who is listening to record it on her phone. She hands her phone to Erika. Erika sees a call coming in from Rogelio so she knows who Paula is. After she is done singing, Paula faints. She ends up sitting on a park bench with her head on Erika's shoulder as Erika supports her.
That's it for tonight.
"Eternamente" will be on for only ONE episode on Friday. That makes me a happy camper before we go back to double episodes next week. : \
Jarifa, outstanding! I am so appreciative for all the insight and facts you provided.
I also was so happy “Felipa's husband Melitón did not let Martina (or us down),” Thank heavens for loose lips!
“Rogelio tells his mother not to treat Paula so badly because Paula said that she doesn't want her baby growing up in a household where she is disliked”. Really?? Rogelio should be helping Paula pack, not asking his hyena of a mother to change, which she is clearly incapable of. Alas, Paula hasn’t suffered nearly enough so I’m sure they will stay put for the time being.
Ahh, the company you keep. Ignacio has already tainted Cecilia, morphing from a loyal, devoted friend into a rather untrustworthy, not forthcoming one in seconds flat. Sadly, she is not familiar with the concept of sisters before scum.
I had high hopes for Marco, but he’s a player. I loathe him grabbing Blanca and toying with her emotions every chance he gets.
Exactly who is Fidel? Spy? Accountant? Guy Friday? I still can’t believe hawt Alfredo Gatica is behind the glasses, short hair and buttoned up shirt.
Paula is the consistent bright light here. She is a lovely and kind person who wears her heart on her sleeve. Rogelio seems to call her every time she isn’t home. Is she his beck and call girl? I’m not convinced Rogelio is worthy of her.
Diana

Sorry, I tried to post my original comment four times a it wouldn't post so retyped it in but not very well! :)
Diana
Thanks to everyone for their excellent comments!
Jarifa, glad this helped you out. It must be tough, recapping double episodes. I still don't understand why Univisión is so keen to do them.
Niecie, yes, that's probably why the operation is risky.
"So unlike Benja to be unforgiving with Gael" I was also a bit confused by that scene. He was the forgiving twin up to this point and AnaJu was the one who had more trouble with these things. But now it's kind of the opposite: AnaJu has decided to watch Gael's video and Benja doesn't forgive Gael. ¿Qué? OOC moments.
I laughed at your comment on Leona's hair.
Susan, I also can't believe Cal just standing in the operation room with no masks and other equipment, what? Thanks for reminding me about that.
Waterlily, as usual I agree with all your comments. Yes, it's VERY annoying to listen to Leona's thoughts over and over again. That's the main reason I omitted the long scene between her and Consuelo near the end.
I am tremendously enjoying the comments and all the recaps as well. I probably would have dropped this if it wasn't for this patio expressing their thoughts!
Liz, I agree with you about Lola. Just for Jacinta's sake, she should stay alive.
I also like these main adults, with some second thoughts on Silvano. I mean, couldn't he have been honest with Flor from the start?
"A big disappointment, a big reunion and a huge mess"
Part 1 of 4
AnaJu and Theo plan to dance together at her party. And she’d like a blue dress.
They watch the video from Gael together. He says he knows he doesn’t deserve her, but he has to tell her that he loves her, he’s loved her since forever. And then he shows her his bag of treasures: her first tiny dress, her first bottle, first toy that made her laugh (a dolphin). And he apologizes again, even if he knows he doesn’t deserve it, but what can he do if he wants to be her father for the rest of her life?
AnaJu starts crying, she loves her uncle, and he used to be her hero, why did he lie to her for so many years? He lacked character, never confronted Ramses. He should have never hidden her baby clothes, he should have showed them to the world, speak up. She loves him, but she’s not ready to forgive him.
Benja is remembering Gael’s words, too. David arrives and notices he’s upset, so Benja tells him about Gael and how he can’t stand to see him. David offers to talk it out, keeping it all inside won’t be any good. Benja agrees to chat while he gives David a haircut. He admits that he does care about Leona and he can feel her love, and believes that in time he can get to love her like a mother. But Gael, even if he liked him at first, now he can’t even hear his name, or Ramses’ or Jerm’s. He only has one father figure, and that’s David. He and his mom and grandma taught him about being e decent person. David urges him to use all the good that he was taught and not hold any grudges.
Lili tells Clara she is happy her dad is back and the old harpy tries to find out what Silvano told his daughter. Lili remembers the doll talk with her mom and dad, then her grandma actually tells her she shouldn’t be close to that man. Lili is thankfully smitten with her dad.
AnaJu is about to leave, but before she and Theo practice her party dance for a bit, while Romeo watches menacingly.
Camila remembers how Leona swam with her kids and the talk about AnaJu’s party. She is by the pool in a bathrobe, saying out loud that she will prove her daughter that she can do it, too. She jumps into the pool and looks like she is about to drown. How about slowly stepping, idiot? Someone page David!
It’s actually Leona who finds her and jumps in while calling for help. Matias and Josefa arrive, Matias helps Leona get Camila out and together they manage to resuscitate her.
Lola’s operation is over, but now she is coding. She’s not the first on my death list, but why not?
The doctor tries to help her, but it’s not easy with mad Calixto threatening him to save his precious.
"A big disappointment, a big reunion and a huge mess"
Part 2 of 4
David is in the street when Columba almost runs him over with her car. They both look shocked. David is annoyed, accuses her of wanting to kill him, how can she just walk the streets with the police searching for her? Both she and Ramses will fall, they will end up in jail.
Columba wonders how he can wish this for his maybe baby momma. It’s not like Camila could ever give him kids, anyway. David defends Camila and asks Columba to turn herself in. He gets so mad, he almost hits her, he now realizes she drugged her, or else he would have never been with her, she raped him. Columba says she understands why Leona chose Gael over him and David is getting so mad (hehe). He wants to call the police, Columba grabs his hand and asks him to keep their sexy rapey time a secret and she will protect him in return. David doesn’t get it, so Columba spells it out for him: Ramses has all his money back, if he ever found out what they have done together, they are both dead. Doesn’t he want to have a child of his own? Leona has her kids, but with Gael and while he has done everything in his power to be with her, nothing has worked. And now he’s settling for Camila! (preach it, sister!)
David tries to get her out of the car, but Columba urges him to accept this deal. David says he’s sorry he ever wanted to be her ally, she’s the worst of the worst.
Fine, then, Columba says, you and Leona will both be sorry. And she drives away.
Ramses wonders what to do about Benja when Gael starts knocking furiously at the door, shouting for the desgraciado to open. At first I’m surprised Gael knows where Ramses is hiding, but then Romeo’s father, Orlando shows up and Gael (who is with Kika) demands him to hold his son accountable for what he has done to Kika.
Orlando actually has the nerve to tell Gael that men will be men, they have different needs and women should get that. Gael grabs him, asks him to call Romeo. And promises to get him into jail no matter what. Orlando says everything was Kika’s fault, which doesn’t go very well with Gael, this time there will be no amount of power to defend Romeo. When Orlando says that KIka was asking for it, Gael punches him in the stomach and he and Kika leave.
As Orlando gets into the house, Ramses who has heard everything, threatens Orlando with a gun. Do you really thing that my grand-daughter Kika was asking for it?
Orlando pulls out a gun, too, they start debating who is the meaner of the two. Ramses reminds him they are partners in crime, Orlando says he already punished Romeo. But that’s not good enough for Ramses, Romeo is an animal, he’s no ally, if there is no respect between partners, then there is nothing. Orlando needs to really punish him!
Orlando thinks Ramses should find a new hiding place now that Gael has been here. Ramses asks about Columba, Orlando says he left her at the doctor’s.
Col arrives and Ramses grabs her and asks about her pregnancy. She says she’s still high risk and they have to wait for the test results. She and Orlando try to explain to him that some of these medical procedures take time, but Ramses is starting to lose his cool, since he’s surrounded by traitors. Columba promises she’s not one of them, he should use his rage against Leona.
Orlando suggests using Benja to go against Leona. When Columba finds out who he is, agrees it’s a good idea if they want to destroy Leona. Ramses looks doubtful.
Gael and Kika arrive at Cristobal’s, saying he needs to make Romeo pay. Kika doesn’t want to talk about it anymore, Gael wants to prepare a gesture for Leona, something about her parents that he never got to know well. Consuelo agrees to help.
Leona, AnaJu and Camila talk about what happened at the pool and Camila admits she was very reckless, her legs stopped working as soon as she hit the water.
Trying to change the subject, they get into some internet shopping. Ffw…
"A big disappointment, a big reunion and a huge mess"
Part 3 of 4
Oliver asks Gael to spend some time with him, too. He likes the flowers his dad bought for Leona, he learned a new word with Benja, he likes him a lot. Even if he still doesn’t understand how they are brothers. He notices that Gael is sad, so his dad tells him how he couldn’t take care of his first two kids because his father was controlling him. And he had those babies with Marena, who has now become Leona. Oliver understands why his dad loves Leona so much, Gael is relieved his son is so accepting of the situation, he will explain him everything he needs to know. Oliver is actually encouraging Gael not to give up, Benja will get to love him, and Leona, too.
Jacinta and Benja are praying for Lola. And not a moment too soon, because Lola is finally waking up and Calixto and Jerm tell her that she had a bad reaction to the operation, she almost died.
Leona is in the study, working, when Gael arrives with a huge flower bouquet and a note. She’d rather hear him say the words (oh, flirty much, Leona?) and he obliges.
He says that he never thought she’d change his life or that he deserved love. When he lost her, he lost his way, but now she’s back and he understands everything that he’s ever lost. While he reads, we get to see their epic kiss on the rooftop.
Gael continues by saying that in spite of all the pain she’s suffered, she has the strength to be a better person and their destinies are tied together forever. He wants to be a couple, the father he never was. She changed his life forever and he promises to love her until his last breath. And so on and so forth, lovey dovey stuff and if this doesn’t win her over, than nothing ever will. And I’m going to throw something at my screen.
Leona does seem to get stars in her eyes, a flicker of a smile, she almost says something, but Gael goes in for a kiss, which she fully accepts and enjoys.
And now for the NOT IT couple – David has prepared a romantic dinner for Camila at his place. He can’t believe what happened to her earlier. And he wasn’t even there to help (I bet that’s what shocks him the most, is he afraid he’s going to lose one of his superhero stripes because of it?)
Camila says she was just jealous of Leona and acting like a reckless person, she is actually very grateful to her. But no more talking about her and David agrees (really), suggests they turn this night into the beginning of a new story, one they can write together. And they kiss and eat.
"A big disappointment, a big reunion and a huge mess"
Part 4 of 4
Leona and Gael are in bed together, both wearing pjs.
She says she could actually feel the force of his words, they helped her get back to the place where they first met. Gael calls her beautiful, but she also needs her rest (huh?). Leona agrees to sleep as soon as she finishes whatever business report she has in her hand. And she starts reading.
I mean, I might be crazy, but they go from big love declaration, to both in the same bed to… reading about beer? Gael, you got no game, dude!
They once again have a crystal ball of the two of them on the nightstand and Gael touches it, while suggesting they take a trip by the sea. He starts talking about enjoying their love over there, but Leona has fallen asleep. Gael is unbothered, he continues waxing poetic about all the amazing things they could do by the sea. And actually has a very sexy fantasy about the two of them making love near the waves.
And yeah, it’s Angelique Boyer and Daneil Elbittar finally getting some sexy time and making good use of that smoking chemistry they share, bit this is all happening in Gael’s imagination, it doesn’t count, the way I see it the writers are just throwing their fans a bone. These two will never sleep together again.
Back to reality Gael is still rambling about how he belongs to Leona, while she is probably about to start snoring.
So romantic. NOT! I’m so disappointed, I could scream.
The next day Benja goes to church to pray for Lola and then wonders what he should do about Gael.
Ramses arrives, calls it poetic that the saint and the sinner, the grandfather and the grandson, are both in front of God. Won’t you say hello to your grandpa?
Benja says God exists because he saved him. Ramses is impressed Benja has the courage to confront him the way Gael never did. That can only be because he carries his blood, he is a Torrenegro, he should have been raised as his grandson and be his heir. Benja doesn’t care about being related, he will have a good life without him. Ramses calls his speech ridiculous, must have taken this from his mother, Leona. Benja actually tries to punch him, Ramses grabs his fist, appears to become prouder with every word Benja says. But when the boy mentions how he hates him, Ramses shows him a gun, show me what you’re made of, he says.
David has a celebration for the kids he’s been helping. Cristobal and his family are there, the Torrenegros, too, Leona and Gael included. Then he introduces Camila, the benefactor of this event.
She makes a speech about David’s work, how amazing he is, how he’s helped her walk again, he’s her hero, the man who made her smile again.
And then… she pulls out a box from her purse and she actually proposes!! My God, woman!
David looks surprised, but is smiling, while the other are all caras impactadas, pretty much like all the patio peeps.
Nobody knows if to look at David and Camila or Leona and Gael first. Leona’s face darkness ever so slightly, then she tries to cover, while Gael looks at her reaction.
Another one who is checking up on Leona is David, who stares at her for a good minute, while losing his smile.
To sum it up: Camila, stars in her eyes, is waiting for David’s answer, David is trying to catch Leona’s reaction, Gael is almost holding his breath with a bit of horror while doing the same and Leona, looking very uncomfortable and definitely not happy, is staring back at David, a stern look on her face.
What a mess!
Adriana, thank you for that fantastic recap.
I laughed at many points, including, but not limited to:
"the old harpy", "How about slowly stepping, idiot?", "And now for the NOT IT couple", "is he afraid he’s going to lose one of his superhero stripes because of it?", "I mean, I might be crazy, but they go from big love declaration, to both in the same bed to… reading about beer? Gael, you got no game, dude!", "Back to reality Gael is still rambling about how he belongs to Leona, while she is probably about to start snoring.", "And then… she pulls out a box from her purse and she actually proposes!! My God, woman!"
I'm also very disappointed that this scene was in Gael's imagination. I'm pretty sure the writers are going to make Leona and David end up together. To be honest, I don't care at this point. Whatever. They can be annoying and obsessive together.
Orlando is just as annoying and creepy as his poor excuse of a human being, his son. I wish Gael threw him around the room as he did with Romeo.
Camila proposing is such a WTF moment. I'm cool with women proposing to men, but the time and the place was so... off. And they've met for like, what, 3 days?
Ugh, what a mess indeed! And David looked at LEONA'S REACTION? Ugh!
Thanks again, Adriana. This was amazing.
Gracias, Jarifa.
Ignacio is easily one of the slimiest young villains I've seen in recent times. He has sown some fast-growing seeds of doubt between two good friends and business partners in addition to creating more conflict between brothers. The first part of this was sheer luck. The second will get worse when Fernando wakes up to realizing that Imelda wants Rogelio and not his vastly inferior self. He's dumb enough to not see that Rogelio would never be interested in Imelda.
If Eva's past is what we're speculating about Martina will manage to isolate Paula within this house full of people. She will start by kicking Eva out. Paula's pregnancy will make her even more vulnerable once the friendship between her and Cecelia is destroyed. She should leave that house now and give Rogelio an ultimatum: We move to Mexico City (or somewhere farther away) or I will divorce you and leave.
The one thing I can agree about with Martina is tattoos. Her concern is justifiable but the way she treats Marco will drive him further and eventually farther away. His situation will not get any better.
This series is longer than the others; 102 episodes and counting. The Turkish original was 87 episodes.
Adriana, your outstanding recap was a crystal-clear mirror image of everything that transpired.
Your wry wit including “Lola’s operation is over, but now she is coding. She’s not the first on my death list, but why not?” made me smile as did “the old harpy”.
I was wondering what woman could have resisted Gael’s love, radiating like a beacon, reflected in his every heart felt word. The painful answer is Leona. Gael has visions of love in his eyes; Leona’s are clouded with doubt and feelings for David. Leona falling asleep was a death knell. I’ m now “womaning up” and admitting the possibility of Gael and Leona being together is evaporating.
Camila proposing to David in front of God and country is something David would have done, in fact, he did. With Leona. Truthfully, Camila and David are very similar. They push through, making it very clear what they want. This relationship now has zero chance.
David deserved Columba’s (controlled) tirade. You can’t dance with the devil and then just walk away.
As upsetting as just about every scene was the most upsetting to me was “Ramses is impressed Benja has the courage to confront him the way Gael never did”. Yes Benja is brave. But he wasn’t reared by Ramses, threatened, controlled and abused. Ramses didn’t slam Benja’s hand in an iron gate or kill the love of his life’s family right before him; he didn’t see the human beings trafficked by his father. Gael is and was damaged goods. But he has tried to rectify what he can. He sought justice for Kika.
At least AnaJu is softening a bit toward Gael. Benja should come around but it won’t be easy. But then again, nothing for Gael has come easy…
Diana
Thanks so much for your notes from the couch, Jarifa. My TV didn’t record the first half, 13. So when I turned it on it started with the police at their door. I tried to find the episode on my IPad, but no luck. Your notes filled in all the blanks!
Cecilia and Paula are having a rocky friendship right now. I hope they can get close again but Cecilia needs to figure out what Ignacio is really like.
I thought the ending was neat. Paula being cared for by Erika. I hope they become friends! That should really get to Martina and Rogelio.
Not sure why the guy in the patch thinks he can get money from Eva. I doubt she has any. I’m really not sure why she’s still there, I expected her to go back to Mexico City after a few days.

I. Hate. This. Show. I never thought that I would hate a show more than I hated the Turkish dizi "Amor Eterno " , but now I hate this show more . Okay I got that off my chest. I feel better. I. Hate. This. Show.
Cher Adriana, I am amazed every time I read one of your magnifique recaps. I have taught English to so many people, and your command of the English language is truly amazing , and I think you actually speak several languages . wow. I love your recaps. They are clever and insightful and so fun to read. You never miss a beat. Thank you .
Diana, who could resist Gael???....not me . He definitely does not come off as a sweettalking , flatterer and player. Leona has been so damaged that she just will never be able to see Gael as anything but the teenager who abandoned her . She will never let herself see or hear his heartfelt love. So sad . I hope Gael still has the phone number of Camila's young nurse that enraged Col beat up .
I was hopeful after Gael put those brunch in the garden moves on Leona. She actually softened for a few moments , smiled at him , and kissed him back .I loved Gael's talk with Oliver .( Daniel seemed to have gotten close to all those young actors.) Then, delivering that big bouquet of flowers and reading his note seemed it might finally break Leona's cold, cold heart . Leona joined in the kiss, but I noticed that she started to say something when he stopped her with the kiss. HEY, this guy has given everything he's got . When I saw them in bed together with him gazing at Leona , I hoped it was afterglow. I guess not . When he turned to pick up the globe , I thought it was a sweet gesture ....but then Leona had fallen asleep . I wasn't sure if the beach bed by the sea fantasy scene was supposed to be Leona's dream or Gael's wishful daydream . So, I guess we have decided that they didn't finally consummate the marriage right after the flower delivery and kiss and before she was reading the beer report , right? Did Gael get up and take a cold shower ?
The final straw for me was the expression on Gael's face when he looked at Leona looking at David at the very end. At this point , I don't want her with Gael. He needs someone who appreciates his longing gazes and water globes and Eggos ...that is not Leona. It's best if Sleeping Beauty wakes up and realizes that his Mar has left the building and is gone forever . Let David have her . Concentrate on your kids and finding someone who can love you as you are now. Best to close the door to the past .
I am very confused about how the writers decided to unfold this story . Did it end up the way they planned it at the beginning ? I think they were not Counting on Daniel's charismatic performance ...his voice and delivery of the lines they gave him , his body language, his facial expressions . He turned the role of a villain into a galan, and then they had to figure out what to do as the story twisted . As Gael became hotter and more appealing , David became annoying and creepy. How did the writers think the viewers wanted this story to end?
Adriana, I also enjoyed your title...all your comments were spot on and like you (and everyone else following this) I am so very disappointed!
"I'm pretty sure the writers are going to make Leona and David end up together. To be honest, I don't care at this point. Whatever. They can be annoying and obsessive together." Weirdo, your insight might well prove to be true. I am trying to keep a small sliver of hope but am just sad that what could have been a wondrous love story of faith and devotion has gone in the wrong direction.
Susan, Gael is such a marvelous father. I have faith that Benja will come around (he has to, right?) and AnaJu is almost there. I agreed with all of your comments especially "It's best if Sleeping Beauty wakes up and realizes that his Mar has left the building and is gone forever"... Did we ever think it would get to this point??? Ack.
Diana
Diana, at the beginning , I saw two handsome guys both wanting the heroine in a teen love triangle. I thought that David was the good as gold part of the teen triangle up against the rich teen who she was madly in love with and vice versa but who became the villain because he abandoned her . Then things got horrendous with Ram killing her family and the three teens discovering Ram's trafficking.
I think I first suspected Gael might not be evil and could slowly turn into the galan in that ear!y episode where Leona and Gael first lay eyes on each other when she seeks a job at his company .( It's also in the intro.) However, these intros used to give big clues as to which couple would end up together , and in the last part of this intro Gael is kissing Leona, but the camera turns and his face turns into David, so I assumed David would win Leona with all his rescuing goodness and protectiveness.
When I watched Herencia, I kept expecting Pedro to reform ,and I wondered what Daniel would be like as a galan. I think Adriana told me that he had played galans in the past. When I watched one of his ear!y galan roles from nine years, ago, I realized that he was a better galan than a villain . I think he changed the way
This story was supposed to play out.
Well, at least he got to punch someone in the stomach and have an amazing chat with Oliver . What was the term that Oliver told Gael that made Gael laugh ?
Susan, the Gael kiss morphing into David in the intro has always bothered me. Even more so when it played out in an actual scene.
I keep recalling the one time when the heroine ended up not with the flawed galan, but bachelor #2, Querida Enemiga which we watched together many years ago. :)
I'm stubborn so am going to try and stay strong until FIN flashes. Angelique did have a happy ending in Teresa but it was in the last five minutes of the show!!
Diana
Susan, blogger ate my comment so I will simply say I agree about "the" kiss with Gael morphing into David. Prophetic??
I hope not...
Diana
Camila proposing to David in front of all those people was just awkward. I’m embarrassed for her. David told her he loved Leona so I can’t imagine what she was thinking. Jumping in the pool was another bad decision she made. And Gael looking at Leona’s face was distressing. He could see how she felt.
It looks like Ramses will take Benjamin, and Romeo will take AnaJu. Hopefully Gael will rescue both teens and they will love him!
Lola lives! I wonder if she’ll be happy with her new look. I really thought something would go wrong and the doctor would be murdered.
I loved Gael punching Orlando. Maybe his dad was impressed too. I hope Ramses is around when Romeo goes after AnaJu!
Liz
Gael is really in love with Leona and is in that first love stage if he honestly thinks she has become a better person. De dónde sacas eso? She was naive and now is bitter and selfish.
If Leona doesn't want Gael, I'm pretty sure one of us would take him.
Ramses' comment was weird. Gael is his son too, isn't he?For someone who thinks he is the best and the scariest, his comments are stupid. This would make sense if we had learnt Gael wasn't his. But this never happened. Matias went against him by leaving, most probably because Apolo encouraged him, and this makes Ramses so mad. So someone should tell him his Torrenegro blood is useless at determining how hiskids and grandkids behave. So now David woke up and realised team Columba is no good.
I do wonder what the original plan for this show was because David got annoying slowly but surely so did they change their mind half way through the story? He hid the truth, then for joined forces with Columba and was annoying in general when he kept insisting Leona just had to give him another chance. I remember really starting to like Gael when he started trying to spend more time with his kids. I wonder what Gael's character was like in the original Portuguese telenovela. The way things are now, I am with weirdow- Leona and David can be annoying together. Both ignore their own failures and throw blame at other people. I can only imagine the scenes of jealousy they'd cause if one of them so much as looked at someone else.
Diana, I am sorry that your comment disappeared because I am always interested in finding ouf your thoughts.
If we go back to the beginning , we can observe that David hasn't changed at all. As the third side of the teen triangle, he was always lurking around the two teen lovers who only had eyes for each other .#thirdwheel Way back then, David was buzzing around trying to get Mar's attention and love . He got his opportunity when Gael dreamed out about the pregnancy . I give David all the credit for saving Mar and her baby boy .
You know, sometimes fiction reflects real life. I knew someone who married her high school sweetheart and had twins. Then, she divorced him and married some other guy and had a son. Then, she met her first high school sweetheart at a class reunion and married him. They have been married for years , so i saw precedent there. Therefore, after Daniel made Gael such a charming, magnetic, good guy, I thought the writers were going to make the invencible love of the title that first true love teen couple . I know couples who married as teens and are still together . I guess it is still possible that the teen lovers will end up together , but that look on Gael's face when he was looking at Leona looking at David looking at her was not bueno. I believe Ana and Ben will eventually forgive and love and accept Gael even though David is doing his best to keep creeping around both of the twins to win them over to his side . ugh. Take a break, Dave . Step back. I also think it is no bueno that David is leading Camila on with dinner for two and afternoons with the horses.
I guess we will not get back to this frustrating tale until Monday. In the meantime, we have to wait and wonder what the writers decided we wanted .
"freaked out" about the pregnancy ...not " dreamed out"...sometimes autocorrect just keeps changing a word it doesn't accept.
Susan, I’m typing my comment for the fourth time which I’m adding to; let’s see if this will work!
The kiss where Gael morphs into David in the opening credits has always bothered me. Even more so when it played out in an actual scene. Foreshadowing or foreboding?
I keep recalling the one time when the heroine ended up not with the flawed galan, but bachelor #2, Querida Enemiga which we watched together many years ago 😊
You are right in that David really hasn’t changed so far as having a good heart and an impeccable sense of timing! But he withheld the truth about the children being alive for quite some time; that’s why Leona broke up with him! Yet, she can’t forgive Gael who was a battered and mentally abused child who had a monster for a father. Gael isn’t perfect, but he loves his children and Leona above all else. My heart broke for him seeing David staring at Leona and her angry, and what I thought was a yearning response.
What will be, will be.
Diana
Diama, I remember Querida Enemigo . It was the first time i ever saw Gabe Soto , and he had only one facial expression . I used to call him Alonslow. Most of us liked the hot chef , and he did actually end up with the girl. It was a surprise.
We have gotten a lot of PSAs . I liked the PSA Gael delivered about rape by first taking the message to Romeo as he pushed and pulled him all around the room , and then to Romeo's awful dad with a punch in the stomach. Go , Gael, defender of his daughter and all women . No means no.
Perhaps the writers are playing with us, and the tide will turn , but I haven't seen Leona look at Gael with the eyes of love . His heartfelt words of love are just not sinking in and I think she just can't glove her the way he loves her.
I just found a quote that I don't think Leona believes :
" I saw that you were perfect , and so I loved you . Then , I saw that you were not perfect and loved you even more." ...Angelica Lim
I am afraid that Leona can't stop seeing Gael as that teenage boy who abandoned her .
Susan, I am laughing at "Alonslow"; I'd forgotten that! :) Yes, Gabe was rather wooden in QE, and sadly backslid into the same mode for "Vino". Actually, I really do like him and can't wait to see him as the villain in Vencer!
I like the quote which I've not seen before. It certainly fits here...
I feel both Benja and AnaJu are in peril as Ramses is still on the loose. Columba seems hell bent on wanting to hurt Benja and Calixto's threat against AnaJu was rather terrifying. Perhaps (pure speculation) Gael might be the one to save them and that will turn the tide??
Diana
Jarifa, thanks for another terrific rundown of what happened. Now I've got everything in place.
Cecilia got on my last nerve asking Paula how much she really knew Rogelio, in light of him getting arrested. Really, Cecilia? You've known Ignacio a hot minute and you're buying everything he says and even borrowing money from him.
Eva knows Paula is in an uneasy situation in that mansion, but stays there and doesn't warn her niece about the baggage she (Eva) brings. But maybe Eva doesn't even know about her own baggage? I got the impression that Eva was having a flashback to a repressed memory about the nightclub.
TNs sure stereotype folks who wear black eye patches. They're always bad guys.
I was surprised that Fernando was upset about Rogelio getting arrested. Maybe he cares about his brother?
I'm always happy to take a picture when tourists ask. But asking a stranger to take a video of a whole song is a bit much. How did Paula know Erika had the time? Oh well, ex and wife meet cute. ;>
Marco's back tattoo puzzles me. I've never seen a tattoo with clear film over it. Maybe this is a temporary tattoo that he can peel off?
Thanks, everyone, for stopping by the patio!
Diana, ITA with you about Rogelio and his approach to solving the problem between his mother and wife. No, he should not be asking "his hyena of a mother to change." I love that description of Martina! I wonder what tragedy is going to have to happen before he sees that a move out of the house is the only way for his marriage to survive. It is nice to see Alfredo Gatica not playing a thug. Cecilia is a disappointment. "Sadly she is unfamiliar with the concept sisters before scum." That is a keeper!
Urban, let us hope that Paula gives mommy's boy Rogelio that ultimatum. Short of Martina dying, which will never happen, that is the only way for Paula to have any peace. It will only get worse when the baby arrives.
Liz, I also would love for Paula and Erika to become friends or at least for Erika to become her doctor. Yes, that would fry Martina and Rogelio and I would enjoy that so very much. I, too, thought that Eva would have been long gone but at least Paula has one ally in that house. My opinion might change depending on how nasty this situation with The Patch becomes.
Niecie, Cecilia has proven to be such a pushover for a little male attention from Ignacio. He sure knows how to manipulate her and plant doubts even about her bestie. I hope we get some more names for some of these characters like the guy with the eye patch. That is one of my pet peeves. Well, until that time he is live as "The Patch". Yes, the video thing was a bit much but I guess that Paula and Erika had to meet somewhere apart from Rogelio. I thought it was cute to. Hey, we are in novelalandia!
Gracias, Adriana. Super recap and your commentary cut like a laser through the thicket.
I'm nodding in agreement with everybody's comments. Ya'll have nailed what's wrong with this story. Honestly, Leona getting shut-eye while Gael is so dreamy beside her in bed is just baffling.
ITA that AnaJu and Benja will embrace Gael in the end.
I can't see David and Gael as brother-in-laws. If I were writing this, I'd have David go off on a vision quest out of the country. Alone time without feeling responsible for anyone else after all these years would do him good.
I haven't given up on Gael and Leona. But I'll be darned why I feel this way. Surely Gael is rising to protect Benja and AnaJu.
Lili was so cute keeping mum when Clara tried to pry info about her dad. That little girl has grandma's number.
Excellent recap, thanks Adriana. With the lack of any real romance, this novela sort of feels like a bait and switch! There have been possibilities but time is running out. : (
Well, we know this is fiction because no way would a woman nod off with smiling Gael lying all comfy there beside her after giving her a huge bouquet, reading a loving note, and giving her a big signature kiss. Maybe this is science fiction because ...you know ...unbelievable .
It's just not cricket that the writers gave David one bunny hop with Leona after he sent that ring on a string down to her and right before she found out he didn't tell her about Ben and smacked him a couple of good ones . The writers owe Gael , who is her husband,at least one bunny hop. His time with teen Mar does not count .And Gael's,beach bed by the sea fantasy was very nice but that doesnt count . i felt sorry for him. They're married. He shouldn't have to fantasize about bunny hopping with his WIFE. Fair's fair. #BobbyEwinggetsoutoftheshower
Rgv Chick, thank you for restoring my missing comments. Not sure what is going on but it is appreciated!
Diana
