ETERNAMENTE #63/64 Page One

It looks like this is the last week for double episodes! "Eternamente" will then slip into the 8pm slot EST with new episodes of "La Rosa de Guadalupe" taking over the 7:00 EST slot. I am keeping my fingers crossed that nothing changes between now and next Monday.

Highlights from the couch . . .

MARTINA/HER SONS/GABRIEL It seems that all of Martina's sons are upset with her because she has not treated them with the same respect that she is demanding of them in her situation with Gabriel. They are also upset that he was Rogelio's lawyer. Martina hears all they want to tell her. Imelda offers Martina her support but then texts her mother so they can have a good laugh. Martina has two friends left in the house: Micaela and Paula. Micaela brings Martina some cookies. When Martina thinks the staff was laughing at her, Micaela assures her they weren't. Martina can always count on her. Martina tells Paula that she thinks she is being paid back for the way she treated her. Paula thinks not but informs Martina that she is treating Blanca in the same way that she treated her when she arrived and she needs to fix that. Other than that, only time will heal her situation with her family. She also calls Martina a "mujerón" (a real woman, good and strong) which makes Martina smile. Gabriel wants Martina to go away with him for a weekend trip and Martina gives in. The only thing bothering Lucas about the situation is that if Martina gets married and has more children he will be older than his aunts and uncles. Martina assures him that is not going to happen.

THE MYSTERY LETTER That there is a mystery letter and that it had a role in the fire becomes apparent. Martina tells Rogelio the latter came into her possession and it was from his father. It said that he wanted to recognize Ignacio as his own. Martina admits that she wanted to use the letter to pressure Ignacio to accept the deal they offered him and to return Fernando's shares. They agree that they are going to have to file charges against her. Martina says that Gabriel will handle that and he does. Beatriz tells Ignacio about the letter. It had a secret that his mother wanted to keep. Somehow Martina got a hold of it. That is why his mother had Martina come to the cabin and set fire to it. She says that Martina told her all about it. She hates Martina and the Iturbides.

BAD NEWS Fidel gets a call from the lawyer that the list of supposed stolen phone numbers they bought was fake. Rogelio tells Fidel to take care of it. He has Carmelo meet him at the company. Carmelo give him half of the money back to compensate for the bad list and to keep a good faith attitude. Security sees them talking and Fidel tells them to throw Carmelo out and if they see him hanging around any time, to call the police to arrest the criminal that he is.

THE SURPRISE PARTY When Imelda discovers that Fernando is going out with Ximena on his birthday (via his texts) , she makes plans with Martina to throw him a surprise party. She tells Micaela to make Fernando's favorite dish but changes it to pasta when she hears that his favorite dish is beef tongue.( I will take the tongue, gracias) Fernando meets with Ximena at a restaurant and gets a call from Imelda asking where he is and telling him every is waiting at his surprise party. He finally agrees to come home but before leaving Ximena, he tells her that he is ready to move out to his own place.

ETERNAMENTE Page Two

While waiting for Ignacio to arrive, Imelda decides to let everyone know that Fernando is not there because he is celebrating his birthday with his lover. She shows the non-believing Martina, the photos of Fernando and Ximena. She wants a divorce. Fernando eventually arrives to a sullen group. Imelda's father gets violent. He calls the Iturbides all vultures. The brothers throw him out. Imelda tells her mother that she tried being good but nothing changed so she is back to her old self. She will never divorce Fernando and will use her baby to get him to do what she wants. It was all an act down at the dinner table talking about divorce.

IGNACIO/CECILIA Ignacio keeps putting Cecilia off. If it isn't his mother who needs him then it is Fernando. When they finally do talk, the subject turns to his mother. It seems that she is responsible for the fire at the cabin. Rogelio told him that he found his father's lighter at the burned out cabin. The only person who could have had it was his mother. He had not seen it for a long time. Cecilia says that his mother must have been very upset which sets him off. He asks if she really did mean to say that his mother was out of her mind. He rages on about how everyone thinks that his mother and he are mentally ill. He adds that Cecilia doesn't know what it is to feel like you have BASTARD on your forehead for all to see or to be abandoned. He starts to approach Cecilia and she runs into the bedroom. She cries for a while but ends up moving out. She leaves him a letter telling him that her love is not enough for him. She cannot keep living with a man she loves but is afraid of. Ignacio eventually comes home roaring for Cecilia but finds the note instead. He cries. Cecilia moves in with Eva and Fidel. She also ends up going to a self help group for survivors of abuse. She tells Paula that she couldn't talk about the abuse with her because she was too ashamed.

IGNACIO/THERAPY Ignacio tells his therapist that his mother started a fire in which she almost died in order to protect him from Martina. He is feeling guilty that she almost died and he was not there for her. He should have known some how that this was going to happen. The therapist focuses him on the severity of what his mother did. She thought about killing someone, she planned to kill someone and then she carried out her plan. She tells him that he needs to stop the circle of violence that his step-father started so he doesn't end up being the same way with his own family. Ignacio says his wife left so he isn't having any kids. He adds that his wife said that he paid no attention to her. He doesn't get that. He has a debt of gratitude that he owes hi mother. The therapist explains that he feels guilty anytime he is happy and his mother isn't. The very act of being okay makes him uncomfortable as if he were betraying her. Ignacio admits he never thought about it that way. She asks if he wold like to live in a calmer more harmonic way, Of course he would. She says it all depends on how long he wants to keep paying this debt to his mother. He better than any one should know that when your are sentenced, there is an end to that sentence ehe you have paid your debt to society and then you are set free.

ETERNAMENTE Page Three

ANDREA/LUIS Andrea and Luis live upstairs from Eva and Fidel. Paula stops by to ask them to please keep an eye open for Cecilia who is going through a rough time and may have her angry husband tracking her down. They both agree to support Cecilia. Andrea clearly notices the way Luis talks to and looks at Paula.

THE ARREST Ignacio is at a bar drinking and being pressured by Carmelo to come work for him in moving delicate merchandise down to the south east before it is moved to Central America. Ignacio doesn't want to be involved and is quite drunk. In the meantime, Irma has found out that she is going to be released at any time. What she doesn't expect is that she is being released to the police who appear to put her under arrest for the attempted murder of Martina Iturbide. She calls Ignacio who is shaken from his alcoholic stupor hearing her voice telling him what has happened to her.

Please feel free to add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

So, how long will Irma survive in the big house?

As usual, Ignacio's therapy session was a highlight for me.

I hope we get to see Martina and Gabriel have that romantic weekend some where.

Are recaps of Primetime Univision novelas only being posted twice a week now?

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, thank you for another stellar summary of an action-packed episode. I always love learning new vocabulary and "mujerón" was a good one!

When Fernando called Ignacio asking if he was busy and he answered no, Ceci sort of blanched as if “really?’ Girl, wake up – please!!

Ignacio seems destined to be free only when and if Irma dies. Unless of course he passes first. I’m glad Cecelia FINALLY left Ignacio; but will she remain strong or weaken as soon as he begs her (again)??

Paula is unfailingly supportive and kind to Martina, more than she deserves. I’m glad though she called Martina out for the way she treated her and the way she is treating Blanca.

I was a bit surprised it was Marco who physically went after Gabriel. Have to admit though Gabriel doesn’t rattle easily.

“Imelda tells her mother that she tried being good but nothing changed so she is back to her old self”. Damn, I must have missed that 😊 I don’t recall her trying to be good for even a NY minute!

I think Rogelio started talking to Paula about moving out although she didn’t seem to jump at the chance. Run, don’t walk Paula!

Perhaps Imelda is just planning on driving Fernando crazy; incessantly calling and stalking him. You are either in or you’re out Fernando; happiness with Jimena or hell.

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Thanks, Diana. What an exciting episode last night! Yes, "I think Rogelio started talking to Paula about moving out although she didn’t seem to jump at the chance. Run, don’t walk Paula!" I was, also, surprised that she didn't take him up on the offer immediately.

"I was a bit surprised it was Marco who physically went after Gabriel. Have to admit though Gabriel doesn’t rattle easily." Gabriel is turning out to be one cool and smart cookie as if he has seen it and heard it all before. No flinching from him and no retelling of what Marco did. He probably has seen more than he wanted with that vapid ex-wife Vanessa. I loved when a jealous Martina made it clear that she would be happier if Vanessa were staying in a hotel and Gabriel actually agreed. I like Gabriel.

"When Fernando called Ignacio asking if he was busy and he answered no, Ceci sort of blanched as if “really?’ Girl, wake up – please!!"It was so clear last night that Ignacio is so totally immersed in his and his mother's co-dependency that there is no room for Cecilia anywhere. Now will she stay gone? It was pathetic (but very realistic) hearing her ask her friends if they thought that Ignacio could change.

I cannot wait until tonight!

I wonder what Martina expected Paula to say when she said her children's reaction is a punishment for treating Paula so badly? It would have been fun to hear her sa,'well, actually I do think you're gettinga taste of your own medicine'. I can't believe she doesn't realise she has been doing the same to Blanca and Paula has to point it out. She and Rogelio are alike in that they both do something to someone and you have to beat them over the head with this fact for them to admit it. They both have this whole 'but what about MY feelings?' thing going on whenever something happens that upsets them or that they don't like. I thought at first they will make it seem Fernando's behaviour was just stupid, but I can kind of see where he is coming from now.
So how was Martina going to blackmail Ignacio with the letter without telling him the truth? Or was it Irma she wanted to blackmail? I wonder if bot Rogelio and his mummy dearest are going to keep quiet about it. Ignacio isn't going to react well to this news, regardless of who tells the truth to him so they'd better not start telling everyone they are just being noble and doing it just for Ignacio's own good. The truth is that none of them care about him.
It's sad Martina doesn't trust her own staff. Where is all this mistrust coming from? It's like she thinks everyone is a backstabber.
Imelda is a disgusting person. When her mother told heryou can't use your daughter like this, Imelda said she didn't care or something along those lines. Are they going to try and make me believe this kind of behaviour is redeemable? Only someone who doesn't love thier child would say stuff like this. Imelda is a dog in the manger. She doesn't try to really win Fernando with honey. Instead she uses vinigar but no one else is allowed to keep him using honey. That poor baby doesn't deserve to have such a terrible mother.

Gracias, Jarifa.

Not sure yet whether I buy this apparent transformation of Martina. She needs to accept Blanca for me to believe this. I have to say, though, that I loved how she got rid if the uncouth and unwelcome Vanessa who seemed to be clueless about it. Very slick!

It was Irma that Martina was looking to blackmail with that letter. She should have handed her a Xerox of it; Irma would have needed to burn it to keep it from Ignacio so unless she did that immediately he could have found it whether whole or in pieces. [Does anyone in Novelalandia even own a shredder?] What we still haven't been told is why she never showed up earlier to claim the inheritance. The only logical explanation I can think of is that she had a master plan to raise Ignacio to have such toxic resentment that he would go to extremes for revenge. That is truly sick as well as evil.

Ignacio has to find out about this eventually and he won't handle the news well. He might end up killing Irma.

Thus far Imelda is still highly irredeemable. She should never have custody of Ada.

Eternamente

Thank you Jarifa! Your notes are fantastic as always!!!

I wasn't expecting Marcos to go at Gabriel but I like how later when he said he went 'a little' overboard, Blanco was like no, you went 'a lot' overboard!!! Good for her, don't humor your husband, tell him the truth.

Imelda planning a birthday party as an excuse to expose Fernando's infidelity was harsh and nonsensical....how is she going to save her marriage by making everyone miserable??

I don't think Irma wanted to make Ignacio bitter or toxic. I think she just wanted him with her, on her side, by her side, always with her. It resulted in bitter toxicity because she herself is bitter and toxic - but I don't think that was the plan. She just didn't want Iggy to know that daddy wanted him because then she might 'lose' him. Poor kid never had a chance.

"ETERNAMENTE":

Jarifa: Good Job on the recap of last night's episode. Lots of crazy 24/7.

Darcy: Imelda is such a freaking HYPOCRITE. She needs to check herself ASAP.

"TIERRA":

UA: I see that Sofia Castro's character is quite devious with lots of scheming. What could possibly go wrong ?

Tierra #20

This should be up in an hour or so.

I can do tonight's but tomorrow evening I will be out until late, so I'd appreciate some help.

ETERNAMENTE

waterlily, "Imelda is a disgusting person. When her mother told heryou can't use your daughter like this, Imelda said she didn't care or something along those lines. Are they going to try and make me believe this kind of behaviour is redeemable?" I don't think it is. If they do try to redeem her character in the end it will be a real stretch.

Urban, "Does anyone in Novelalandia even own a shredder?" Good question, that along with peepholes in doors and/or intercom entry systems, live in cities that have more than one doctor, one hospital, one lawyer, one whatever??? LOL I bet we could come up with quite a list. As for Martina "I have to say, though, that I loved how she got rid if the uncouth and unwelcome Vanessa who seemed to be clueless about it. Very slick! ITA!

Darcy, "I don't think Irma wanted to make Ignacio bitter or toxic. I think she just wanted him with her, on her side, by her side, always with her. It resulted in bitter toxicity because she herself is bitter and toxic - but I don't think that was the plan. She just didn't want Iggy to know that daddy wanted him because then she might 'lose' him. Poor kid never had a chance." This is a perfect description of what I believe the situation to be and why i will probably remember the character of Ignacio long after this novela is gone.

Jarifa, thank you so much as you continue to provide us with every detail as this story unfolds .

Yikes, I was surprised at Marco yelling at poor Gabriel as he was seated comfortably in his chair .However, I wasn't surprised at Marco dashing right over to protect his mama . He is the young gun in this show and having been around lots of these young , impetuous guys , I know it is what they do. Yesterday , I went to the first football game at my old high school . I though about his things change yet stay the same as those young players took the field and the cheerleaders cheered on the sidelines.

. I like seeing the young love story between Blanca and Marco unfold .Blanco will be a good influence on him and tame his youthful energy. There is nothing like young love .

I am wondering why Vanessa was introduced into this tale.So far, she hasnt displayed much of the venom that the spewed in the Aztecs show I saw her in . She was hell on wheels . Here she has just been annoying, crude ,and rude.

Imelda is her own worst enemy . She threw away a chance for a happy life .

Waterlily, my mother used to say many maxims, including " You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar ." We have seen quite a lot of honey and vinegar in this show as in all telenovelas which I now see as life lessons .

I don't think either Igy or Irma will survive . They both seem too damaged . I hope Ceci doesn't return . As someone I knew used to say " A tiger doesnt change its stripes ."

I think Paula wants to love Martina because she lost her own mother at such a young age .

Susan

ETERNAMENTE

Susan, "I though about his things change yet stay the same as those young players took the field and the cheerleaders cheered on the sidelines." It is always funny when we see how those old sayings are based in reality. "I think Paula wants to love Martina because she lost her own mother at such a young age ." I never thought about that but it seems like a real possibility.

Eternamente

Jarifa, the more time passes , the more I see old proverbs and telenovelas as studies in humanity . The more things change , the more they stay the same . Life keeps repeating that same old story ....man, woman, birth, death, infinity.

Tierra de Esperanza 8/28/23
Episode 20: Notes; Part 1 of 2

Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest and participation.

Maria Teresa hugged Santos and suggested they celebrate. They went to a club where two chicas immediately hit on him. Maria Teresa then got him on the dance floor after saying he was with her and we are spared his possible embarrassment at unfamiliar terpsichorean activity.

Beatriz and Genoveva talked about Santos, et al. Genoveva is clueless about Beatriz's questions about Esteban.

Marco handed Adriana a bunch of files, presumably to distract or discourage her from interfering in his plans.

Garibaldi and Rutilio looked around the river area to size up the situation. It looked as though neither trusted the other.

After the club it looked like Maria Teresa had a little too much to drink as theygot to her door. A few comments later there was a kiss, then a retreat before they went inside.

Rutilio effectively barged into Clemente's room, then took his sketchbook out of a closed drawer, and tore up his latest drawings. The usual insults.

Maria Teresa and Santos went to to their room. He took her shoes off her and put her to bed fully dressed. She pretended to fall asleep as he kissed her shoulder and prepared to sleep on the floor.

Clemente and Rutilio argued with Clemente asking about why his father was ashamed of him. [¿Clemente, querido, why do you ask this to a man who would put a mustache on the Mona Lisa?]

Nany made breakfast in the morning, Santos had gotten up early to eat with Esteban. Maria Teresa sat down with him as Valentina called Santos which prompted Maria Teresa to describe her as “one of Santos' many girlfriends” to her father. She looked annoyed. Valentina told Santos everyone missed him – especially herself – and he told her they made a good deal and to tell Cris about it. She did not look interested.

Marco met with Garibaldi to plan their next exchange of goods.

Adriana and Irasema were accosted in town by Garibaldi who remembered both of them from somewhere they'd rather not admit to. He knew them by other names – Violetta and Celeste – and it sounds like they had done their meowing in a cathouse. Norma arrived and greeted Adrana, which caught Garibaldi's attention. He must have been very amused when Norma said that Adriana was changing women's lives all over Puerta Brava. He touched his hat at them as they left.

Camila caught up with Marco who tried to impose himself on her again. This ended with a threat.

The ladies who lunched gossiped again about Remedios. Adriana said her usual, got up and left. Norma would not agree, and Irasema got up and followed Adriana.

Tierra de Esperanza 8/28/23
Episode 20: Notes; Part 2 of 2

Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest and participation.

Maria Teresa and Santos worked on the books and found discrepancies.

Adriana and Irasema worried about being exposed.

Santos was shocked at the tour of Maria Teresa's city apartment. This was compounded by the sound of the digital assistant.

Maria Teresa told Santos that she was thinking of selling the apartment and use the money for Esperanza.

Marco suspected that Adriana was hiding something but didn't make an issue of it.

Maria Teresa explained to Santos that she could not get a bank loan so she had few options. Santos said he had a friend who could help but she didn't want him – or Santos himself – to hrow good money after bad.

Bernarda was positive that Maria Teresa and Santos woult put all their efforts into making the ranch profitable again. She compared Maria Teresa to Doña Lucia when talking to her daughters.

Maria Teresa showed Santos the contract for selling the apartment and told him she had a meeting for the next day.

Aldo arrived at Nany's place to see Maria Teresa, but Esteban told him she was out. He put on a show of stress, anxiety, etc., over their breakup, claiming she was the love of his life. When he looked away from Esteban it was obvious that he was lying like a rug and that Esteban looked suspicious.

In the fields at Esperanza some talked about how Maria Teresa's mother made the place work and how she was the love of Don Esteban's life. Bernarda was keeping a stiff upper lip which Valentina noticed.

Norma visited Adriana to apologize for what happened earlier. Irasema went to get her as Marco came in. She talked with him and he called this a small misunderstanding.

Valentina asked Cris to help her with Santos and he said that she should not waste her time on a man determined not to commit. She left in a huff.

Norma and Adriana went at the same-old same-old song about Remedios. Adriana finally shocked her with the Big Lie that Remedios and Santos killed her husband.

Maria Teresa and Santos came back with groceries and she was going to cook. Marco called her to find out when she was coming back. As the call ended Santos said not to trust Marco.

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa, for continuing to turn out great recaps of this show. So much happens in each episode. Almost too much to take in. Good to hear the double episodes will stop.

When I realized Imelda had planned the party knowing Fernando wouldn’t be there I was really disgusted with her. Diana, too funny about Imelda being good. I must have blinked and missed it too. Her father is a fool to be yelling at the whole family but not realizing how toxic his own daughter is.

Hopefully Cecilia has left Ignacio for good. He’s going to really go crazy when he sees the letter. I bet he blames Cecelia for taking it. I wouldn’t mind him finding out it was Imelda, he could eliminate her and Fernando could have a happy life with his daughter. He can’t leave that poor baby with her own mother!

Did anyone notice Gabriela’s right arm hurting him. I sure hope he doesn’t have a heart attack. He’s a good influence on Martina. Her face softens up when she sees him or thinks of him.

Liz

Tierra

Thanks, Urban, I look forward to your recaps. This show is harder to figure out when you don’t speak the language!

I did not realize Aldo didn’t really love Maria Teresa. I guess he’s after her father’s company. I wonder if the dad suspects him in the fraud. I just know I don’t like him.

I love the chemistry between Maria Teresa and Santo. Valentina will probably try to ruin that relationship before it even starts.

Norma is so gullible and naive. I imagine things will have to be spelled out for her in the last episode.

Loved that Garibaldi knew Adriana and Irasema from the past. This should get interesting!

Poor Clemente. Don’t understand how a parent can be so unyielding. I liked that Clemente mentioned seeing him at the ranch. I hope he’s the one that uncovers the real character of his father. How awful to rip up his artwork. I feel so sorry for him. His mom should grow a backbone and take him far from his dad.
Liz

TIERRA

Urban, thank you for the wonderful recap! I'd not heard of terpsichorean so thank you for the new word! Spanish, English, I am happy to learn!

My favorite scene was the awkward nightclub scene where Santos, fascinated by the bright lights was completely out of his element. His hawtness immediately apparent, I wasn't surprised he attracted immediate interest.

Maria Teresa and Santos are so sweet together! Modern technology eludes him but nothing he can't learn. Valentina's call quickly burst her bubble; Santos needs to stop her little girl infatuation and quickly.

"Adriana and Irasema were accosted in town by Garibaldi" and finally, Adriana looks scared; as well she should.

Camila needs to stay away from Marco before she gets hurt. Again.

Santos is right not to trust Marco. I hope Maria Teresa realizes it's not jealousy but the truth.

Diana

TIERRA

(Clemente) "I feel so sorry for him. His mom should grow a backbone and take him far from his dad".

I too too Liz; he's a brute and she's a sniveling coward. I know that sounds harsh but really...

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Liz, yes, it was weird that Gabriel was rubbing his right arm. He told Martina that he had hit it on something. Tripping all over the place was something he was prone to doing these days. I hope that is the last we see of that, but who knows? Drama is always just around the corner. "So much happens in each episode. Almost too much to take in." You can say that again. The pace was much slower at the beginning which drew me in. They were being sneaky!

Eternamente

Jarifa, I'm glad they'll move to single episodes soon. Thanks for all your double duty. I could've never kept up without your superb couch notes.

Imelda offers Martina her support but then texts her mother so they can have a good laugh.

I can't stand Imelda, but I got a kick out of her being two-faced with Martina. She wants Fernando for the Iturbide name and place in society. She gives not a whit whether he's happy with her or not and thinks he's too stupid to outfox her.

ITA they didn't show Gabriel rubbing his left shoulder for nothing. Oh-no.

At last, Cecilia leaves. Ignacio has turned this independent woman into a sad heap. I'm glad she realizes that after her time with him she now needs therapy herself.

Enteramente

Jarifa, ‘ The pace was much slower at the beginning which drew me in. They were being sneaky!’ you can always come to daytime and watch Vino El Amor with us, nothing has happened in that for weeks!!! Lol same conversation over and over and over again

Tierra

Urban, thank you for a great recap.

Santos is growing on me. He was sweet as the country mouse in the big city.

Aldo is a sneaky snake , and Esteban knows it. Marcos is worse. The actor us playing this part close to the way he played the weasley don in Alborada.

Tierra

Thank you Urban for this fantastic recap!

It was a fun episode and Santos reactions in the city were adorable!

I keep wondering what Bernarda's relationship is with the boss as she's clearly very very worried about him. In this episode she tells the girls she was about Valentina's age when Maria Teresa's mom died. With a different character you might suspect she and the boss had some sort of romantic relationship in the past, however given Bernarda's view on men and her bitterness I don't think she'd be found of him now if they had a past relationship. Maybe he's like a father to her? He's the one who took her in and took care of her when she was a young single mother traumatized by a rape??? I'm very curious....

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #65/66 Page One

Highlights from the couch . . .

Things keep just popping right along. This is a looong one tonight

PAULA is dedicated to making things better at the house. When Rogelio suggests they take Lucas and move out again she informs him that the way things are going with Fernando and Irma, Rogelio will probably be needed at the house. She also doesn't want to leave Blanca alone. That is what he loves about her. She suggests a project to get everyone involved and give them something else to concentrate on. She wants to build a tree house in the garden. Rogelio is all for it. She and Martina have become friends.

MARTINA/GABRIEL Gabriel tries to talk Martina into going away for a weekend but she says no; it isn't the right time. He is taking pills and it is clear that he does not feel well. That evening he has a heart attack but is lucky that Andrea and Luis are there. He is soon out of danger but in the hospital in a couple of days. Martina visits hi when he comes home and offers to give him a a back massage. He likes that.

ROGELIO explains to Paula that he is sure that Irma started the fire. He thinks that Irma wanted to kill his mother because she had a letter that told her that he wanted to recognize Ignacio as his son and make him a part of his family with all of the privileges that would bring. Paula concludes that Ignacio never knew because his mother kept it from him.

Rogelio goes to see Irma in jail and tells her what the police have found. They know that it was arson and that they found her prints on his father's lighter and the container for the gasoline. She tried to kill his mother. He wants her to plead guilty. In exchange, she would get a shorter sentence and he would do his best to make sure that Ignacio not find out about the letters. He will make sure that Ignacio gets everything that is his due as an Iturbide; everything that she denied him.

IGNACIO/CARMELO Ignacio finds himself between and rock and a hard place after Carmelo threatens do something to Cecilia, to burn down the music school or to give his mother a few new friends to take care of her at the prison. Ignacio agrees to do the job. MARTINA/ROGELIO Honorio tells Rogelio, with all due respect, that the staff is worried about Martina and they do not like seeing her suffer. Martina deserves to be happy. She knows what she is doing. Rogelio wisely does not comment. At Paula's urging, Rogelio makes a deal to talk to his mother. He goes to see Martina and listens to what her life has been like. She explains how after his father died, she had all she could do with bringing them all up as fine human beings but now they all have their own families. What about her and her feelings? She is still alive and refuses to turn into a shadow or be like a walking dead person. Rogelio starts to cry. She wants to take advantage of every breath she has left. She still has desires and dreams. She asks if he thinks that the love for a partner only exists for the young? The human need for company and affection doesn't have an expiration date. She is alive and loves Gabriel. Rogelio finally gets it. He apologizes for himself and his brothers. He will talk to his brothers. Mother and son are reunited.

ETERNAMENTE Page Two

CECILIA is way too close to going back to Ignacio. He does anything he can to make her feel guilty leaving him at this time with his mother now in jail. He tries to track her dow. He says he will die without her. He reminds her of his marriage vows.

Everyone tries to talk sense to her but she loves him. Eva tries to explain to her that she is not responsible for his happiness and that he has a lot to do before he will ever be able to accept her love like being able to accept and love himself.

IGNACIO/IRMA At the time of Irma's arrest, Ignacio fights for his mother's freedom and attacks Gabriel's representative who filed the charges because the fire happened on his property. He tries to calm her down as she cries from behind bars blaming the Iturbides. He goes home and drinks and cries. He hires the best lawyer he can afford. He tells Fernando to find that letter so he knows what really went on. Fernando finds the letter in a drawer in his mother's room. He gives it to Ignacio with an apology on behalf of his family. Ignacio reads the letter and cries. His mother decides to plead guilty in the middle of the night. Ignacio cries and wanders the streets remembering his father and Cecilia. He goes sees his therapist who thinks has made a break through. He doesn't see there is any way she can help him.

Ignacio visits his mother in the morning. They hug (I am surprised he didn't choke her then and there) . He asks why did she plead guilty? She says it was because of Martina and Rogelio who would have made their lives impossible if she didn't. She didn't want them to hurt him. He screams for her to stop lying. A guard comes over to tell him to pipe down. He asks if she ever had the chance to get him away from his stepfather, would she have? Of course she would have! He loses it and screams at her to stop lying. The staff reminds him again to calm down. He pushes the letter across the table to her. How could have she left him in the house with his step-father who mistreated and hurt him? She turned him into a murderer. She destroyed his life. She is shocked to see the letter and all she can do is repeat that she didn't want to lose him. He needs to understand. She blames Martina for it all. She took everything away. She had to protect him from Rogelio. Ignacio shakes his head. He leaves as she begs him not to abandon her. He walks aimlessly down the middle of the street. A car stops just inches from him as he raises his arms and offers himself up to death. The car does him the favor and hits him. It speeds away.

EVERYTHING ELSE

ANDREA/LUIS/PAULA Andrea seems to be stuck with a reluctant groom in Luis. She sees him talking to Paula and when she says that they need to go to look at reception venues, he invites Paula along. Both she and Paula cannot believe it and say NO!. Later, he suggests that Paula help them with their planning. he says she is good at that and of thing. She asks why he has placed Paula on pedestal. We never hear an answer. Later, Andrea is chatting with Martina and asks about Luis' relationship with Paula. They seem to be quite close. Martina comments that Paula helped him with his rehab.

ETERNAMENTE Page Three

XIMENA calls her mother and tells her that she was right about Fernando. Her mother says to let him go ASAP. If he is the right man for her, time will tell. Ximena goes her own way and continues to see Fernando. They go out for a walk and her brother Claudio grabs Fernando at gun point and forces him into the trunk of his car. He is still waiting for the money from Ximena. The police happen to be right there and Claudio is arrested. He promises that he will be back.

VANESSA is bored and is going back home after Gabriel tells her that he is going out with Martina and wants her to move to a hotel. She will be back for the wedding. .

EVA has an ultrasound and shares the video with Paula on the spot.

CHUY helps Tamara through a panic attack on a date. .

IMELDA refuses to file for divorce. She is not going anywhere and is starting to use the baby as leverage .

Neither Marco or Blanca wants children. (Does this mean they are ripe candidates for a surprise pregnancy?)

Honorio tells Micaela that he doesn't want to end up alone and is asking her to be his partner. She agrees if it is as friends. He takes what he can get from her and agrees to her terms.

ETERNAMENTE

Liz, you were right!!!

Niecie, Imelda never disappoints.

Darcy, I tried Vino once upon a time and just couldn't do it. I have watched other novelas though where nothing happens for multiple episodes. . . ; )

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, this was a sad, sobering episode;your recap was thoughtful, thorough, well written and reflected the desperation to perfection.

I wasn't surprised Ceci went to collect her belongings; so, so foolish. At least she didn't go alone. If she had, I fear Ignacio would have gone off the deep end. It appears he saved that for his visit with Irma.

"Ignacio visits his mother in the morning. They hug (I am surprised he didn't choke her then and there)". Their jailhouse scene seemed surreal; she begging and pleading, he livid and finally, unforgiving and unyielding. I had to remind myself these were actors playing parts. Both were amazing.

For the first time I felt real sorrow for Ignacio. At the moment he "invited" the car to hit him, he seemed truly ready to die.

"Later, Andrea is chatting with Martina and asks about Luis' relationship with Paula. They seem to be quite close". Andrea is quite sharp. Despite Martina's nonchalant response, her sharp look and facial expression showed she is fully aware Luis is not over his infatuation with Paula.

Why isn't Jimena disappearing?? How many times will she (or Fernando) be able to escape injury??

Of course Imelda doesn't want a divorce; as you noted she "isn't going anywhere".

Poor Honario can't catch a break.

A not-so-revealed burning secret; an actual fire and a heated up interaction at the end - Part 1/4

Feel free to have my "Antes del Gran Estreño" post close by; we got many people and names thrown at us.

We start off in San Lorenzo de Minas and we switch between this town and Cuidad de Mexico. We get useless workout scenes in both places: in San Lorenzo, a woman is exercising, while in the capital, a man.

The woman goes home and lights a candle in front of her mother's picture. She has passed away. She then proceeds to doing normal everyday chores, like cooking, while listening to a podcast. It's basically an English for Spanish learners course. Through the course, we learn that she's Emilia (our protagonist).

The man is giving orders to an electronic device, "Alexis" (Alexa, basically) when a woman comes down the stairs and says something about him (not?) giving orders to her this way or something, I didn't really catch that. He (whose name we haven't heard yet, but he's Leonardo, our galán) "orders" her to give him kisses (in a playful way, not in a creepy way like it sounds written) and calls her Sara. She does kiss him. They're a couple apparently. They talk about getting married, Sara doesn't want to. Leonardo says that it would be nice though, they'd have their house, maybe a kid or two... Sara laughs and jokes that he'd leave her for a secretary. He says that he would never get bored of her and they kiss some more.

Emilia wakes up her kid (Nicolás) to get him to school, she has to go to her job too. Nico asks her why doesn't he have a dad (these kids in telenovelas. They always say something like this in a completely random time.) Emilia doesn't really respond, she says that he doesn't have a dad, but he has a mom who loves him a lot. They say they'll never get separated.

A woman comes out of an expensive car. We first see her boots and then the rest of her. She's outside of the mines. Some people greet her, calling her "Patrona". Yep. She's our antagonist, Roberta. Roberta has come to see her husband, Ignacio, who works in the mines. Their relationship isn't looking too great. She says he left without saying anything, he replies that he's old enough to go out without her permission. He adds that the people here work a lot, but they'll never become rich or something like that. Roberta tells him it's not a crime to be rich (they're rich). She comments on him still working at his age and that he's her husband, el Patrón. He says they both know these words are meaningless. He tells her he has to go do something important. He leaves.

Emilia's car doesn't start. A guy pops up holding flowers. That's Sebastián. He seems to be in love with Emilia. He also gets along with Nico well. I had bad audio for some time, but I think she said she has an exam on Sunday and work tomorrow and after a bit (randomly?) flashbacks to some sort of party. She drinks a bit (alcohol?) We then hear "no", I think and the flashback ends. The car FINALLY starts.

Leonardo is giving a presentation in a company.

More new characters: a man (Tigre, who also works in the mines), a woman (Zaira) and a teen kid (Gael). Zaira whines during breakfast that Tigre's daughter (Emilia) doesn't accept her even though they have a kid (Gael) because they're not married.

Later on, Emilia picks up her dad to go to work. They talk about Gael.

Ignacio, meanwhile, has come to see Leonardo. They hug and they call each other "padre" and "hijo" (BUT they're not actually related by blood. His father was Roberta's first husband). Ignacio says he has some problems.

Minas de Pasión, Gran Estreño, Martes, 29 de Agosto, 2023

A not-so-revealed burning secret; an actual fire and a heated up interaction at the end - Part 2/4

Emilia is arguing with some other miners about security and having to dig deeper. They end up fighting about Ignacio and Roberta, Emilia defends Ignacio (and we learn he's her godfather) and says that "that woman" (Roberta) isn't a Patrona. Unfortunately for her, Roberta hears this. Emilia doesn't lose her cool and calls her "señora", followed by an angry "patrona" from Roberta, who adds that if she doesn't like how things are here, she can resign. Great. We're not even a quarter of an hour in and Emilia has already gotten on the villain's bad side.

Ignacio tells Leonardo he's ill. He's losing his memory. He would love it if he came (to San Lorenzo) and helped him with his errors. They hug while crying.

A guy brings Emilia's file (? No subtitles from this point on) to Roberta. Roberta is holding some sort of rock. Huh?

Ignacio already starts to forget things when talking with Leo. Leo looks sad. Ignacio doesn't want him (Leo) to deal with his (Ig's) problems, he has his own company's problems to deal with. Leo says they'll be in touch.

Emilia and Tigre are talking. Emilia wants to defend Ignacio (and still refuses to call Roberta "Patrona") whatever the cost is. Tigre tells her they may fire them, Emilia doesn't care. Tigre reminds her she has a kid, they can't lose this job. Besides, she has already lost her career (I guess "her opportunity to have a career") when "that man" left her and she became a single mother. She screams at him that her godfather always defended her about that. (Hm. Maybe she made up the part of her "boyfriend". The flashback with her saying "no"... I'm guessing she was raped.)

Just then, some Ramiro guy comes and starts provoking Emilia. He says she's still here because her godfather's Ignacio. They start fighting. Tigre tells this guy that it's not true, Emilia knows more about mines that all of them combined.

We see a new face. His name is still unknown to us, but for simplicity's sake, that's Mauricio (he's also Leonardo's brother). He's on the phone, he says something along the lines of "I want there to be a reporter". Huh.

After the fight cools down, Emilia goes to leave and Mauricio pops up and starts asking her why aren't they friends anymore (how old is this guy, 5?) Emilia says now they have less chances of being friends, Mauricio grabs her. She tells him not to touch her. Good old Sebastián comes out of nowhere and gets into a fight with Mauricio. Emilia is sick and tired of them, she just rolls her eyes and leaves. After she's left, Mau starts the "I'm the son of the patrones" crap. Seb isn't having any of that.

Roberta is trying to access Ignacio's laptop, she's trying different passwords, but no luck. We see a man's shoes behind her boots. He hugs her. That's man's Fidel. (There was a previous scene where a guy informed Roberta senator Fidel Roldán wants to see her and she replied she doesn't have time. I decided to put this here for better recap flow.) He says he came to see her and whines a bit about not having time for him. They kiss. It's Roberta's time to have bad luck: Emilia is getting up the stairs to talk to her and sees them kissing. She's obviously shocked.

Roberta starts the "it's not what it looks like" crap and Emilia says it IS what it looks like and she'll tell her godfather about this.

Minas de Pasión, Gran Estreño, Martes, 29 de Agosto, 2023

A not-so-revealed burning secret; an actual fire and a heated up interaction at the end - Part 3/4

Sara starts talking to Leo about someone important visiting the company and some award, but Leo isn't listening. He's looking facts about Alzheimer's online. He tells her he can't be there. Sara is NOT happy about this. Leo says he has to go to San Lorenzo. Sara doesn't seem open to negotiating, but neither does Leo.

The other kids at Nico's school bully him because he doesn't have a father.

Emilia leaves and gets in her truck. Roberta catches up to her and tells her she wants to talk, how much money does she want? Emilia gets off her truck and says she loves her godfather, she can't buy her silence. She adds that she doesn't have anything to say with a traitor. Roberta says she loves Ignacio, he's the man of her life (suuureeee) and she doesn't want their marriage to be ruined just because of her hallucinations. Emilia says they're not hallucinations. Before Roberta can continue her annoying monologue, a bell rings; fire in the mines! Emilia runs to help. Roberta is pissed.

The miners are fighting the fires. They bring paramedics for someone. Mauricio pops up and Roberta comes in the mines too. Emilia tells her that some idiot who's name I didn't catch put all the explosives here. Roberta says she'll sort this out, Emilia tells her she can't, they don't even have medical equipment and that she should call the Patrón. But she won't, because she's scared, she doesn't want him to know what's happening in the mines, does she? Roberta gets more pissed and starts the "I'm the Patrona, your Patrona" talk we've heard a thousand times already. Emilia leaves, so does Tigre. Roberta tells Mau to stay away from that woman.

Tigre and Ignacio are walking (huh? Was something cut from my video?) and talking about the mines. Two important things: 1) Tigre is convinced there's gold and 2) Ignacio keeps on working to not "face other demons" (Roberta I guess lol).

Emilia is riding a bike with Nico (in the outer part of the mines? Is that safe?) Nico says he wants to go to some fiesta.

Leonardo is in his car and flashbacks back to the time when Ignacio showed him San Lorenzo. He told him he's going to leave, it'll be better with mom and his siblings and calmer. And they choose to say they're not related by blood NOW. Gee, that would have been confusing for me if I hadn't done my research! Back to the present, Leo keeps driving.

Emilia leaves her kid with Seb to go talk to her godfather, Ignacio.

When she meets with him, they have some FF--> talk and then Ignacio says something about Mau that I didn't quite understand. What I did understand is that he offers Emilia a better position (with a better salary) in security, he says he wants loyal people close to him. Emilia flashbacks to seeing Roberta and Fidel kissing earlier. She tries to tell him about it, but Roberta comes out of nowhere and she leaves with Ignacio. Ugh.

Roberta whines to Ignacio that the miners have to work more (500th time she's said that already). She asks him if Emilia told him anything. He says no, does he have to know something? Just then a girl comes in and hugs Ignacio. She's his daughter, Marijó. (His only biological kid.) Guessing from Roberta's face, Marijó isn't really her cup of tea.

Minas de Pasión, Gran Estreño, Martes 29 de Agosto, 2023

A not-so-revealed burning secret; an actual fire and a heated up interaction at the end - Part 4/4

It's time for the fiesta. Emilia is there with Nico, her son. Roberta is with Ignacio. Fidel approaches them with a young guy, who I'm pretty sure it's Moisés Peñaloza in real life, so he's Fidel's son, Orlando. Ignacio leaves with Orlando and they leave Roberta and Fidel alone. Fidel asks Roberta if Ignacio knows, she says he doesn't.

New faces: we see a man, the presidente municipal, calling someone on the phone. The man is Adalberto Quintana and that "someone" he was calling is his wife, Gilberta I think, who wants to be called Gigí. Okay, now. Really? Gigí? Out of all names? You're called Gilberta and you make it GIGÍ? Berta would have been better! AND Adalberto could make it Berto and they'd be Berta and Berto! LOST OPPORTUNITIES! Anyway. Gigí is here with her daughter, Jennifer (okay, more confusion I have to clear up: they have TWO daughters. The one is Jennifer and the other is SARA, Leo's girlfriend who made a fuss about him going to San Lorenzo earlier). Gigí asks her husband if he noticed anything different on her. She meant the LASHES and started whining when he didn't notice. Ugh. Gigí has had 10 seconds of screen time and I already hate her. New record!

A man speaks on a microphone. He calls on the stage a priest, Fidel, Ignacio, Roberta and Adalberto. They go there, but Gigí comes too, UNINVITED and whispers to the poor guy that he should have called her to the stage too, as the presidente municipal's wife. The guy announces her now as "Gilberta de Quintana". Oops. She grabs the microphone and says it's "Gigí de Quintana". Yeah, sure Berta. Whatever.

After Adalberto's FF--> worthy speech, Roberta gives a check to the priest and announces it's for the church. So that was why the priest also got up the stage? I thought he would be there to throw holy water at Roberta and Fidel, with the hope they'll melt!

After that, Mau and Orlando are talking. Mau sees Emilia with Nico and talks to Orlando about her, how special she is etc. Jennifer sees this, goes to him and tells him not to look at Emilia like that. They go to argue someplace quiet. Berta isn't with Berto, but with Roberta (I'm sorry, I had to). She says that Jennifer and Mau are a nice couple, so I guess they're dating.

It's music time: Seb gets on stage and starts singing (well, his actor is Carlos Gatica, so it was expected). Everyone is dancing. A woman from Emilia's flashback from earlier, presumably her friend back then, sees her and they go to take a picture. Emilia tells Nico to stay here.

His bullies think otherwise; after Emilia leaves, they start chasing him, so Nico goes somewhere to hide. They don't find him.

Emilia realises her son is missing and freaks out. After Seb finishes his song, they go to search for him.

Nico runs into a guy who probably wants to kidnap him. Thankfully, the kid starts running and screaming "ayuda!" (help!) Guess who was right there; Leonardo! Leo saves Nico and beats the creepy wannabe kidnapper. Nico tells Leo he wants to see his mom.

Leo gets Nico to his car. Emilia sees this and of course thinks HE wants to kidnap him. She grabs a GUN and runs to Leo, telling him to leave her son. Leo doesn't have the time to explain since she's attacking him. Nico is stuck in the car and screams to Emilia that he's the good guy, but she doesn't hear him.

And with Emilia and Leo fighting, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Minas

That was certainly a confusing episode.

I have to say, I'm slightly disappointed that we didn't have someone die in the Gran Estreño. In the original, someone (I won't say who, because it's probably a spoiler) died within the first 5 minutes.

Interesting that Roberta and Fidel are a thing now. In the original, Antonia and Aníbal weren't together in the present times, but I'm pretty sure this whole "relationship" happened years before.

I found the character explanations odd. I liked the OG's way of doing it: they had some characters (that probably don't exist here) talk about who was who and their relationships. Way easier to understand. And while it was slightly annoying that Antonia called her compadre as "Aníbal Villegas" in the 123th episode, at least we knew exactly who was who.

I have to say, a business woman, I-don't-want-marriage Sara was a huge surprise. In the OG, Irene was fond of her parents' "you must get married" ideas.

Not that bad of a start. We'll see how this will go.

Minas

Some more things I forgot...

Tigre's character seems changed. The OG Tigre was brave to the point of recklessness. So I was a bit disappointed when he told Emilia here that she shouldn't defend Ignacio that much because they might lose their jobs. Give me a break.

Why do some characters have gringo names? "Jennifer", "Orlando"... How come we haven't got an "Arthur" or a "Henry" yet?

I liked Anette Michel's acting. Just Roberta will never get on the same level with Antonia, if you know what I mean.

Not a bad start for a telenovela. Kind of a bad start for the La Patrona remake. (Fine, I'm prejudiced. But still, La Patrona's Gran Estreño was objectively better.)

Jarifa, this is terrific, as always.

Can I say that I am fascinated by Irma and Ignacio and poor, innocent Cecelia caught in their web of insanity.

Telenovelas frequently portray unhealthy and toxic interpersonal dynamics, but I don't think I have ever seen it done with the detail, the complexity, and the realism as it is here. Bravo to the writers and of course the actors.

Like you, Jarifa, Ignacio's therapy Session are a highlight to me, and I will remember this pathetic and broken man-child of a character long after this telenovela is over.

Ditto his mother. I like how Irma is not presented as an over-the-top, malicious villain, but instead as someone who is so twisted and mentally damaged that she can not help but be a poisonous and toxic, noxious presence to anyone and everyone, most especially to those closest to her. She is like an animal with rabies and, like with rabid animals, the things I feel most towards her are horror, sadness, and even pity.

I also like how our heroine is not front and center constantly, but instead is being presented as the one constant, stable, rational, sane, and stabilizing force in these peoples lives. Alejandra Robles Gil does understated really well, and I quite like her as a protagonist! She was great as the younger sister in Imperio de Mentiras too, portraying a totally different character than here. I even remember her from La Gata, where she also left her mark.

Rogelio I still don't like. I have known too many of his ilk in my life. They are always macho jerks.

I DO like Martina and Gabriel. The dynamic as presented to us seems very real, natural, and sweet. I hope they make it!

I am really impressed with this telenovela. I was hesitant at first by it being an afternoon telenovela (I thought it would be boring, poorly made, or both), but it has really drawn me in by making me care about it's characters by making them real to me.

Thank you again Jarifa, and to all of the people commenting. I like this little patio we have here! :-)

Sorry! That last post should have said ETERNAMENTE (I am still new to this)

MINAS

Weirdo, thank you so much for getting us off to such a great start with this one!

I think (and hope) that I am going to like it! I am hoping that it will be an over-the-top telenovela (the villain Roberta is just EXUDING evil) where lots of stuff happens. It will be a nice contrast to Eternamente, where all of the drama, while still very intense, is personal and character-driven.

I DON'T like Livia Brito though. It is so hard to believe that the young protagonist of Muchacha Italiana viene y casarse would grow up to be this paparazzi-beating machimorra with ridiculously huge fake tits and ass that she shows off every chance she can.

And I agree with you about this being somewhat of a watered-down Gran Estreno in comparison to La Patrona, but I must recognize that that was when Telemundo was just approaching its end of producing highly-entertaining circuses of telenovelas before they plunged headlong into narco-novelas and sequals (and their ratings plummeted).

I am hoping the producer steps on the gas a little. I would not have thought it would be possible to make the international-award-winning "Meu amor" boring but, in spite of the best efforts of his cast and high production values, he still managed.

This is NOT a subtle story, and should not be treated as such.
Give us entertainment!

Thank you again, Weirdo!

I think this was good as a first episode. I just wish they hadn't done some things differently (Like Emilia's son being an angel instead of a spoiled brat like David was in La Patrona). Then again, I think the best way to watch this is to pretend it is not a remake of La Patrona(Impossible, I know, lol.)

I hope Televisa doesn't disappoint with this one. In recent years, they seemed to have disposed off the sheer wickedness and unscrupulousness from their novelas which is something Telemundo didn't hold back in La Patrona. I want to say WTF at the amount of evil going on.

As for the issue of Livia Brito, I love her as an actress even though I don't agree with some things she has done in the last few years. I guess I'm able to separate the act from the artists, lol

Tierra de Esperanza 8/29/23
Episode 21: Notes

Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest and participation.

Maria Teresa began cooking as Marco called. Santos got Maria Teresa to promise to proceed carefully.

Esteban began thinking Maria Teresa is in love with Santos. He also did not want her to sacrifice her own happiness for his mi$take$.

Maria Teresa started explaining the latest and greatest kitchen appliances to Santos, who was very surprised and impressed.

Marco gave his Jackal orders [which we can be sure will not be to Esperanza's benefit].

Maria Teresa made dinner and poured the wine. Santos was impressed and they talked about modernizing the ranch's kitchen.

Bernarda called Nany and asked to speak to Esteban. She praised Maria Teresa's efforts and her ability to learn quickly. Both looked a little pained at the end of the call.

The Jackal prepared for incoming goods.

Maria Teresa and Santos continued with wine and desserts. She has her mother's love of the land. They almost kissed. Then he got up to leave, but she didn't let him this time.

Norma fell for Adriana's BS and repeated it to Clemente. She ordered him to have nothing to do with Santos.

Santos and Maria Teresa were heating up half of the room without a lit fireplace with no extinguisher in sight.

Norma and Clemente continued to argue about Remedios. He accused Adriana of destroying reputations for her own amusement.

As Maria Teresa and Santos were getting it on Norma rejected Rutilio's advances and took off for the guest room.

The next morning as the blinds raised automatically Santos brought breakfast to Maria Teresa in bed.

Back in Puerto Brava Rutilio blamed Clemente for Norma sleeping in the guest room. He threatened him if this continued.

Maria Teresa and Santos looked ready for a third round as they talked.

Camila asked Remedios to help her destroy Marco.

Norma told Clemente she had no idea what she would do if he moved out.
Santos did not know how to turn on the shower and ended up getting hit with very cold water. As Maria Teresa told him how to adjust the temperature she found the cocktail napkins with Valentina's red lip prints.

Adriana decided to get Rutilio to help with the Garibaldi problem.

Regina did not find a note from Clemente and got worried. Valentina was less pessimistic.

Aldo was determined to get Maria Teresa back.

Maria Teresa and Santos told Esteban their plans for the ranch.

Camila went to Mario's place, saying that before the baby their relationship had been good. She tried luring him back to her but it looks like it would never be more than a pityf*ck.

Bernarda and Remedios talked about the ranch and the plans, and Esteban. Remedios said that he carried a heavy burden of guilt in his heart.

Aldo tried again to get his money from Victor and began threatening him.

Remedios and Bernarda talked about how emotionally wrecked Esteban was when his wife died.

Valentina read Regina's latest poem and liked it. Regina signed about her feelings for Clemente.

Trejo and Clemente had a conflict.

Maria Teresa took Santos to the airport for his flight back. As he went through the boarding gate he realized he did not want to leave.

eternamente
So Rogelio again wants to move out. Would that be because his mummy got herself a boyfriend? I still can't forget he didn't want to move outwhen Martina mistreated Paula. Rogelio really comes across as selfish to me. He even told Paula earlier that he'd prefer it if she didn't interven into the family business or something similar just because she told him he shouldn't judge his mother. It really doesnt take long to bring out the worst in him. Here it feels as if I were watching another version of David from Invencible: a character who is supposed to be the galan and the one for the protagonist, but who is awfully unlikable. He even had his rescue scene with his mummy dearest and is of course the one to tell everyone else they should stop being horrible to Martina.
Paula might be the one stable influence here, but I find her boring. She goes around telling everyone what they should do. She might have good intentions, but I find it very annoying that she gets to tell people what they should feel regarding a certain situation in this case. I'd rather Marco and the rest came around on their own terms and not because the perfect Paula intervened on Martina's behalf.
Why exactly did Rogelio choose to be Irma's accomplice? She'd have been found guilty regardless and why should she get a shorter sentence if her admition isn't voluntary? The autorities don't know she's being blackmailed of course. But I think Ignacio deserves to know Hipolito loved him. Or doesn't Rogelio want to clear his father's name and give Ignacio a father in a sense? People rarely do things out of the kindness of their hearts so I wonder what Rogelio's aim is here. Ignacio needs to 'get to know' his mother and know what she's really like. They could have even spoken to his therapist in order to find the best way to tell him the truth. But no. Let's hide it.I imagine they'd say they didn't want Ignacio to react badly to this, but they also chose the easiest path. It's far easier to do nothing than look for a way to solve the issue. It's convenient for Rogelio to keep quiet because that requires no effort. Fernando genuinely cares about Ignacio and I find this both sad and somehow incredible.
Luis should really tell Andrea he doesn't want to get married. I don't understand why he even agreed in the first place.

Minas

Weirdo, thank you for an excellent recap of this first episode. I liked the opening showing the leads starting their day . I am not a fan of Livia. I have seen her in several telenovelas. She always seems hard and ticked off to me. She has no soft edges . I am here for Oswaldo and Cesar. I love them both, and their scenes together last night were wonderful. Oswaldo is one of my telenovios, dark hair, dark eyes, sweet soul.

Looks like we have another supergirl here, like Leona in a Invincible . Emilia can wrestle big, buff Leonardo into submission???? Yeah. No.

I dont think I know a lot of these actors . Sebastian , the singer, seems to be a good guy. I don't recall seeing him before .

Cynthia Klitbo is amazing . I have seen her play good and bad, rich and poor in so many shows .

I love seeing Theo from Invencible again. He will play galans one dsy.

I like Emilia's father . He played the villain in Imperios de Mentiras . I like his long hair .

Did anyone else notice the chicken walking around on the kitchen counter?

OT....MUJER ....Arent they going to finish this show ? They started Minas before giving us the finale . QTH?????

Thank you Jarifa! Your notes are worth their weight in gold as always! I didn't watch last night but I am sort of multi-task watching this morning so it's nice to know what I am missing!

' I had to remind myself these were actors playing parts. Both were amazing.' I agree Diana and thank you for mentioning this!!! I find that if I don't like the character, or it's the villain character, I don't spend too much (or any) time thinking about the performance of the character or giving the actor his or her due. Both of these actors are doing fantastic jobs in this show!!! Their portrayals are so realistic!!! It's haunting...

I personally love how both Paula and Blanca play the voice of reason to their stubborn husbands!! They do it with love but also are insistent, too many times you see the wife portrayed as agreeing with her husband no matter what because that's her man and she's standing by him. It's refreshing to see wives say, you know, actually you're being a jerk!!! And they do it in private and without disrespecting them.

Weirdo, thank you for your insight, humor and snark. I give you so much credit for carefully explaining this explosion, a whirlwind of characters, names and faces. You did an amazing job, especially considering the avalanche of events. I’m beyond impressed.

I readily admit there was far too much for me to process so my comments will be brief.

Emilia wraps her self-righteousness around her like a cloak; Leo is charismatic and quite handsome. I smiled at the “useless workout scenes”. Yup, we get it; gratuitous showcasing these fine specimens of fitness and hawtness. 😊

I kept envisioning the vibrancy firebrand Cynthia Klitbo would have brought to Roberta’s character. Que lastima.

The last scene was very well done. Emilia, possessed, fighting to save her son. She certainly gave Leo a run for his money.

Cesar Evora is always a delight. There are many new actors to me but it seems like a good start.

Weirdo, thank you for all the time and effort you’ve invested to ensure we have a running start in trying to keep up with all the madness.

Urban, just wonderful!

“Santos and Maria Teresa were heating up half of the room without a lit fireplace with no extinguisher in sight” was perfect. Combustible chemistry. I enjoyed every romantic moment.

Norma is beyond annoying. Believing Adriana and trying to poison Clemente against Santos. Clemente rightly “accused Adriana of destroying reputations for her own amusement”.

“Rutilio blamed Clemente for Norma sleeping in the guest room” was absurd. What a cold hearted brute.

What is Camila trying to play at? She is way out of her league.

For me, the most intriguing event of the evening was Bernarda and Esteban’s phone conversation which was so well and tightly played. I initially thought Bernarda had a paternal affection toward him but his stuttering and uncomfortable expression left me feeling there is something else at work.

Santos recognizes too late that he should have spoken from his heart. I fear Valentina is going to be a huge impediment to their moving forward.

After watching Annette Michel in the wild " La mujer we Judas", she seems unchanged in her wooden portrayal of the villain here . Even playing opposite the spectacular Cesar doesn't seem to help her performance . So far, the actors are impressing me much ore than the female leads. Oh well, you get what you get and you don't get upset as every kindergarten teacher cautions on the first day of school.

Fine job, Jarifa.

Wondering if this is rock bottom for Ignacio. I sure hope so.

Luis is plain silly trying to get Paula involved with planning his wedding. Got my fingers crossed that Andrea sees the light and calls the whole thing off.

Wondering if Fernando made a copy of the letter. It's too precious to be just handed around.

Eternamente #65/66

Gracias, Jarifa.

I think Ignacio has hit rock bottom. The question is whether he will be able to recover. That includes his past involvement with thugs who are out to get him now. He is in bad shape to see anything clearly now and the discovery of Irma's deception has sent him off the rails.

If the law allows him to be denied the Iturbide name if he is a felon, Rogelio has every right to see that happen. We already know he is guilty of financial shenanigans and has tried to undermine the Iturbide company so he should not be given a single share. It should also state that he can't demand the mansion if there is an easier was to get his share, such as shares in the company or cold cash.

I also hope Fernando made a copy of that letter but I doubt he is smart enough to have thought ahead that far.

No way on earth should Imelda get custody of Ava but just let her pull a few more stunts and she could be declared unfit.

Thanks, Weirdo. I am still confused so I will re-watch this episode before commenting.

Tierra #21

Diana,
I agree that Valentina will be a problem for a while to come. She is really getting on my nerves, as is Norma.

Was I imagining this or did her makeup change within scenes? She seemed to go from zero to normal in this episode.

ETERNAMENTE

Thanks, everyone, for your comments.

Diana, I agree with so much you said especially with this secondary story line: "Poor Honario can't catch a break." I wonder if we will ever find out if there is more to Micaela's past than what meets the eye that has made her so resistant to anything more than a friendship with Honorio. Yes, Irma (Ana Berta Espín) and Ignacio (Juan Martín Jauregui) have really knocked it out of the park with their performances here.

Jaime, well said: "I am really impressed with this telenovela. I was hesitant at first by it being an afternoon telenovela (I thought it would be boring, poorly made, or both), but it has really drawn me in by making me care about it's characters by making them real to me." The same here but it seems that it had very good ratings in that 4:30 (?) time slot in Mexico from what I could find. Go figure! To me, it deserved to be on here at 8:00/9:00 Central Time but they evidently needed a place holder or some reason so the earlier time and double episodes. Programming is a mystery to me.

waterlily, "Why exactly did Rogelio choose to be Irma's accomplice? "I imagine they'd say they didn't want Ignacio to react badly to this, but they also chose the easiest path." This could easily come back to bite Rogelio if everyone starts comparing notes. "Fernando genuinely cares about Ignacio and I find this both sad and somehow incredible." Fernando may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but he does seem to be a good person. That leads me to ask: What is more important: Intellectual intelligence (Rogelio) or emotional intelligence (Fernando)?

Darcy,it sounds like you watch novelas, when I am not recapping, like I do. "I personally love how both Paula and Blanca play the voice of reason to their stubborn husbands!! They do it with love but also are insistent, too many times you see the wife portrayed as agreeing with her husband no matter what because that's her man and she's standing by him. It's refreshing to see wives say, you know, actually you're being a jerk!!! And they do it in private and without disrespecting them." This is something that I never really thought. It definitely is a fresh take on wives giving advice.

Niecie, "Luis is plain silly trying to get Paula involved with planning his wedding. Got my fingers crossed that Andrea sees the light and calls the whole thing off." You and me both. Luis has no idea how stupid he sounded wanting Paula to help plan the wedding. Andrea deserves so much better than duplicitous Luis.

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Jaime, I also hope I'm going to like this! I guess we'll see how to goes.

Enock, welcome! "I think the best way to watch this is to pretend it is not a remake of La Patrona(Impossible, I know, lol.)" I agree, although I don't think I'll be able to stop myself from comparing them! Lol, yes, it is impossible.

As for the Livia Brito issue, I just saw the whole paparazzi-beating thing. I was never a huge fan of Brito's acting, this just made me dislike her overall. While I understand Enock's point of view "I guess I'm able to separate the act from the artists", I have a much harder time doing this, for better or worse.

Susan, I also like Urkijo and think he'll play galanes some day. As for Emilia managing to beat Leo, I'll buy it because her kid was in danger and we've seen remarkable things from mothers when their kid is in danger. I think there was one who even managed to lift a truck.

I was more bothered by Brito's acting than Michel's. Does she (Brito) play the exact same way in every show she's in? I watched Mujer de Nadie and I'm pretty sure her acting was very similar.

LOL about the quote. I liked that!

QTH about Mujer. Huh?

Darcy and Urban, I'm sure your comments will be spot on. Urban, I understand your confusion. So many things happened!

Diana, thank you so much! Your comments are always so thoughtful. I agree with your comments. Should we start a novela bingo with this one? We already have a few ticks on the board.

Urban, thanks for reminding us about Rogelio's plan to get Ignacio off the executive board. It will be interesting to see how he goes about that now. "I also hope Fernando made a copy of that letter but I doubt he is smart enough to have thought ahead that far." I have my doubts about this, too. If only Imelda could be declared unfit!! That would be a nice plot twist.

Thanks so much, Jarifa. Another great recap. I know you will be glad to go to single episodes. The time seems to fly by when I’m watching, but between two shows it does take up the evening.

I’m so relieved that Gabriel survived the heart attack. They are a very natural couple. And I loved the talk with Rogelio. He was surprisingly receptive to her feelings.

I knew Luis was wanting to include Paula but didn’t realize it was wedding planning! He needs to get over Paula before taking a wife!

When Fernando was apologizing to Ignacio on behalf of his family I was worried. I thought Ignacio would think Martina always had the letter. I was relieved when he knew his mother had kept him from his father. You can’t blame him for being furious with his mother. As bad as Ignacio is, we can see the reasons. His mother really is the reason. Imelda is just evil. She seems to blame Paula for her problems.

Imelda payed Claudio, but I thought she wanted Ximena out of the picture. So I was surprised he took Fernando. But I really think if Fernando was removed permanently, Imelda would be fine. She could play the grieving widow and remain in the house forever, making everyone miserable.

I didn’t realize Marco and Blanca don’t want children. And I’m disappointed that Micaela doesn’t want a relationship with Honorio. I thought he made good points about aging together. At least I think that’s what he was saying. I guess they will just have a great friendship.

Weirdo, I agree with you that Livia seems to play every part the same . I have watched her in several telenovelas. The most recent were Desalamada and Mujer de Nadie . I wasn't impressed with her in either. I always thought she seemed cranky, distant, and sullen most of the time and never believed her supposedly loving , warm, or passionate moments .

Some actors and actresses make me believe the characters they are portraying whether they are playing the good persons or the bad . They are equally competent at depicting both good and evil. I think it has to do with truly being in the moment and believing their characterS . Kudos to those folks. Cinthia and Caesar are two of those actors whom I admire for their versatility and believability.

I never did a bingo card, so I can't help you.

Eternament

Wow...I would never have realized that the actress playing Paula was Angelique Boyer's dippy sister in Imperial de Mentiras. I thought her face looked familiar. She was involved with the scary, young bad guy . I love Paula's wardrobe and would wear it . I thought that white and powder blue duster was especially flattering .

Minas

Susan, I also like Cynthia Klitbo a lot.

Fun fact, Cynthia Klitbo was supposed to play Roberta's character. I don't know what happened and she ended up playing Zaira's.

Tierra

Thanks again, Urban, for giving us the rundown on what’s happening.

Clemente is more on the ball than most of the town characters. I’m glad he stood up to his mother, who for some reason believes everything Adriana tells her. His father would be impressed if he realized how observant his son is. He saw the sheriff’s wad of cash and I’m sure he’ll remember. I hope he’s the one to bring all the bad guys down, including his father.

I want Maria Teresa and Santos to be together but I agree that Valentina will get in the way. Santos is too naive about her. And Maria Teresa will probably back off. Plus she’ll have Aldo pressuring her.

I know it’s not nice to comment on people’s looks, but….something about Aldo’s chin, it juts out, makes him look like a bad person. And Santos’ eyes always look like they’re open too wide. I need to look them up to see if they always look like that or it’s part of their characters.

I hope no one can help Adriana with the Garibaldi problem! I want her to be on edge for a long time!

Okay....

Alzheimer's is getting a lot of attention lately in novelas. Is every actor over 60 going to have to do this kind of story?

I am strongly of the opinion that Emilia became pregnant from the rape. She looked younger and quite virginal in the flashback and I think Adalberto was the rapist. Poor Emilia and poor Nicolas. Do kids really bully each other over not having fathers?

I'm glad to see Osvaldo de Leon as the galan. He's got what it takes.

Roberta definitely has evil eyes and no heart. Kudos to the wardrobe department for her leather skirt, dominatrix boots (How did those stiletto heels not sink into the soil?), and snake-like necklace.

Gilberta is an embarrassment.

Minas
Weirdow, you cleared up some things I didn't catch. I always get frustrated with all those different characters and my inability to remember who is who.I knew your recap won't disappoint because I remember your Invencible recaps. I had this exact thought about kids in telenovelas randomly asking why they don't have a father.
After reading the comments, I kind of want to watch La Patrona. But I'm generally not a fan of telemundo.
I immediately have my doubtswhenever a girl says her father practically disowned her after he learnt he was pregnant. Admitedly, these areusually males who come from small towns and are elderly, but still. You'd think supporting your child is more important than whatever nonsense gossiping ladies will say.
Isn't Emilia's father also unwell? His new wife said something about needing to take care of his health? Or was this someone else she meant?
How long does her father get to live in this telenovela? I kept thinking this was going to be the kind of telenovela where a daughter loses her father and is on her own with a kid.
I'm already feeling sorry for poor Sebastian.cBut maybe I shouldn't if he suddenly turns into another David from Invencible.God, what an annoying guy he was.

Liz,
I agree that Clemente has a lot on the ball but I also think that Rutilio is afraid of that. This is the reason he tries to gaslight him and tries to increase his insecurity be questioning his manhood because he doesn't want the same kind of life. I think he will eventually learn the truth about his father. Norma may go to pieces but Clemente will be able to take it.

My big question now is whether -- and if so how -- Maria Teresa and Santos will try to conceal their relationship.

I am not watching but noticed Urban's comment about Alzheimer's. I think the first time I saw it appear was in "Mi marino tiene más familia" (2018) but have seen it quite a few other times either in novelas here or in other different Spanish speaking productions since then. It is getting old.

Thank you Urban! Your notes are fantastic! I can help you out by posting some notes for tonight's episode but it probably won't be until at least noon, and it will likely be very brief!

Maria Teresa and Santos are really cute together. The actors have great chemistry and they compliment each other really well.

Diana, I too am so curious about the relationship with Bernarda and Estaban...it was a weird and awkward conversation and then later the housekeeper said something like 'Estaban's problem is he has a very sad heart' and Bernarda looked uncomfortable...guilty? I really don't see them as romantic interests but maybe they got close when she was traumatized and he was heartbroken over the loss of his wife, maybe the feelings were there and they didn't act on them and that's why the awkwardness??? We will hopefully find out!!!

Minas

Wow, that was a lot of information for a short time period!!! So thankful for your recap Weirdo, to help put some stuff in order.

I loved this line: 'The guy announces her now as "Gilberta de Quintana". Oops. She grabs the microphone and says it's "Gigí de Quintana". Yeah, sure Berta. Whatever.' LOL

I have never had a strong opinion about Livia one way or the other, I didn't know anything about her real life behavior before now. She does sort of remind me of one of my younger sisters when she smiles, but as someone said above she doesn't smile often.

Anyway, Emilia attacking Leonardo at first sight was intense!! Attack first, ask questions later! Not a fan of the extreme aggression but then again someone did just try to kidnap her son so maybe it's a common crime in that area.

ETERNAMENTE #67/68 Page One

Notes from the couch . . .

Waaay too much happened tonight.

IGNACIO is left in the street but before the ambulance arrives he hears laughter as he walks away from his body. Spirit Ignacio meets himself as a child asking where his mother is. He tells the boy everything is going to be just fine. He won't be alone. An ambulance takes him to the hospital.

The hospital calls Fernando and the police call Cecilia. They tell her that a witness said that her husband tried to kill himself by stepping out in front of a car in the street. She cannot believe it. Ignacio would rather talk to Fernando than Cecilia . Ignacio tells him that his mother is in jail because Martina and Rogelio pressured her to confess. Cecilia overhears everything from the hall. He asks Fernando not to tell anyone.

Fernando tells Cecilia about the letter and that Rogelio and Martina were the only other people who knew about it.

Cecilia goes to see the therapist to let her know that Ignacio tried to kill himself because he found out that his mother hid a letter from his father that expressed his father's wish to basically adopt him. She wants the therapist to go see Ignacio and is willing pay her. She visits Ignacio and tells him that his mother's betrayal has actually helped him in a way. Before, he concentrated on his father's rejection. Now he knows that wasn't true. He lost his mother but he found a father who wanted him. Knowing that, he can transform his life.

Ignacio talks to an "aunt" about his situation. She tells him not to believe that his half-brothers care about him. He blames his mother. She tells him to remember that the Iturbides want to see him destroyed.

Cecilia confronts Rogelio about the letter. Why didn't they tell Ignacio and hid it? Rogelio says it wasn't "their " fault". Cecilia hears "their" and concludes that Paula knew. She goes to confront Paula. If Ignacio had known the truth he never would have suffered so much. Paula says it wasn't her place to tell anyone about the letter. That was between Ignacio and his mother. Cecilia calls her the perfect "Iturbide". Cecilia then decides that the best would be if she bought Paula out at the music school. She doesn't want to work with her. Cecilia tells her to have her husband contact his lawyers and come up with a price. Ulises offers to buy Cecilia's part as does Rogelio. Rogelio tells Paula that Fernando gave Ignacio the letter.

ETERNAMENTE Page Two

The whole family gathers for supper. Rogelio asks Fernando in front of everyone why he gave Ignacio the letter. Everyone wants to know what is going on. Marco asks how Fernando came to see the letter. Fernando says that their mother had it. Martina reminds him that he stole it from her room. Fernando says that Rogelio and his mother have all the answers. Martina says she hid it to avoid the disgrace of it all. She reminds Fernando of everything that he has done to favor Ignacio that could hurt the family. He and his mother are crazy and are their enemies. Fernando asks why? Is it because Irma was dad's lover? Martina reminds him that Ignacio got him into an illegal fuel business, Fernando gave Ignacio shares in the company, he gave him a position in the company, and he revealed family secrets to him. She asks why? He answers because she and Rogelio have always excluded him when deciding any important issues in the family. Marco adds that he has been excluded, too! (So there! He sounded like he was five years old. LOL)

Ignacio goes to see Rogelio who apologizes for everything that happened on behalf of the whole family. Ignacio want to know how they got the letter. Rogelio isn't talking. He wants them to get along peacefully even though they will never be friends. When Rogelio has to leave because Paula had an accident, Ignacio looks at Rogelio's laptop and sees that he was denied a loan from the bank for his airline service proposal.

Ignacio suggests that Fernando bring up a proposal for establishing a messenger service at the company as an alternative to the lost airline service project at the next meeting. Little does he know is that Carmelo is behind that plan since Ignacio is now working for him and his drug trade.

Cecilia is back with Ignacio.

IRMA's lawyer visits her to remind her not to discuss her case with anyone but Irma is only interested in Ignacio coming to see her. She gets agitated and faints. The doctor thinks she is suffering from panic attacks. Irma insists she is not crazy. She raves on about the Iturbides. It is decided she needs to go to a psychiatric hospital to be evaluated.

PAULA has an accident. She trips and falls down the stairs in the garden to get to Lucas when she thinks that Lucas is calling for help. Everyone makes a major deal about the fall even when she doesn't. After a visit to the doctor, she finds out that there is nothing wrong with her or the baby.

LUIS/ANDREA/PAULA/ROGELIO Paula and Rogelio end up at the same restaurant as Luis and Andrea. Andrea is peeved when she sees Paula there and calls Luis on the attention that he gives/is giving to Paula. Luis goes on about what a lovely person Paula is. Andrea drinks more wine until she is drunk and starts to throw up. Luis follows her to the rest room . As they leave the rest room, Both are unaware that Rogelio hears her going about how Paula is a goddess for him that he has put-on a pedestal. No matter what she does, she will never be like Paula. She tells him to admit that he is in love with Paula. He disagrees with all of it but the cat is out of the bag. They see Rogelio as they leave the bathroom. Luckily for him, Andrea doesn't remember what happened the next day because she was so drunk. Paula starts noticing that Rogelio is preoccupied with something but won't tell her what. Andrea keeps noticing the special and, at times, inappropriate attention that Luis shows Paula and doesn't like it. While at the Iturbides, she tells her father that she doesn't like Luis' reluctance to move to Mexico City. She also doesn't like the way he looks at Paula. She thinks that Luis has feelings for Paula that go way beyond her being just another member of the family. Again, she is unaware that Rogelio just happens to be in the hall and hears her. Rogelio stays up to confront Luis and asks him point blank if he is in love with Paula. Luis looks like the proverbial deer in the headlights. That was our cliffhanger.

ETERNAMENTE Page Three

FERNANDO/IMELDA/ADA

It look like the baby's name is ADA and not AVA.

Fernando tells Imelda that he will be file for divorce. She tells him that if he does, she is going to accuse him of marital rape. Ada falls ill and Fernando and Imelda take her to the doctor. They are beside themselves with worry and will do anything for their baby. After a first battery of tests, it seems that Ada could have a serious blood disease. They still have to do one more test: a lumbar puncture. If she has the disease the doctor is thinking it could be, then a bone marrow transplant would be a therapy. The doctor adds that a sibling is usually the best match.

PUBLIC SHAMING IN MORELIAN SOCIETY Martina has a foundation luncheon and as Blanca walks by the garden party, Imelda insists on introducing her as Marco's new wife to all of the "ladies" present. They all try not to look shocked. Martina is mortified and angry. Someone asks when the church wedding will be. Martina says it is up to them. Micaela is just as embarrassed and affected as Martina. Imelda smirks. Micaela starts to complain again to Blanca about marrying Marco.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Marco finds launching his hotel on wheels a bigger challenge than what he initially thought so he decides to go work at the family business. Rogelio and Fernando make it clear he will be working his way up from the bottom of the ladder.

Lucas gets Paula some red balloons which are her favorite to make her happier.

Paula and Cecilia both really miss each other in spite of their differences but neither one wants to be the firs to make contact.

Paula tries to get Rogelio to talk to his brothers about Martina and Gabriel as he promised her but he is too preoccupied with Luis to
even talk about it. She goes herself to try to discuss the matter with Luis but Andrea tells her it is really not any of her business.

Martina tries to warn Luis that he is not being discreet enough around Paula and he tells her to mind her own business.

Martina and Gabriel finally make it away for the weekend but Martina insists on going home when she hears that Ada is ill.
Tamara is going into rehab.

Rogelio tells his prospective partner for his airline business that he will not be able to partner with him. Jensen already has buyers for his planes.

Honorio tries to kiss Micaela but gets only a hug.

That's it for tonight. Please add anything I left out.

Jarifa, thank you for every detail . Will comment more in the morning .

I was just outside looking at the supermoon." La Luna del Cielo."

Enternamente

Thank you Jarifa! Your notes are fantastic as always! There's never a dull moment in this show!

I was nervous for Paula, but I figured the writers wouldn't have her lose two babies, although all too many women experience multiple miscarriages in real life. It seems the scare has convinced Felipa it's time to stop trying to get pregnant, which I'm sure means she'll be pregnant before we know it!

Andrea's logic is seriously flawed. 'I think he's in love with someone else so I want to get married and some out of town!' No sweetheart, it should be 'I think he's in love with someone else so I am calling off the engagement'!

I felt so bad for Blanca!!! Someone needs to slap Imelda repeatedly....though maybe not now since the baby is sick. When we first saw the baby sick, my first thought was she made her child sick for attention, but if it's a blood disease I guess not.

I understand why Cecilia is upset, but just like earlier in the show when Paula exploded on CeCe, I think CeCe is overreacting now. She says Ignacio would have suffered less if he'd known, but Paula has known about the letter for what, two weeks now? Those two weeks wouldn't have made much difference - if anything he might have attempted suicide two weeks sooner. I could see if Paula had known for years or even months but....

I do think anger is warranted with Rogelio and Martina though because their goal was not to tell Ignacio, ever. That is wrong in my opinion.

Irma shouldn't have pled guilty, she definitely could have rocked that 'not guilty by reason of insanity' defense!!! Wow!

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, this was a(nother) jam packed episode which you covered with your usual wit, wisdom, penchant for detail and exceptional writing.

Ignacio imagining himself comforting his younger self was so powerful. He is such a damaged soul! I keep wondering if there is any redemption road for him but now that he is involved with the drug trade, that possibility is quickly evaporating.

In terms of “PUBLIC SHAMING IN MORELIAN SOCIETY” (loved the title), I was so disappointed in Micaela! She reacts to Imelda’s cruel “introduction” of Blanca by hanging her head in shame over the “disgrace” of Blanca marrying Martina’s son! Buck up and get over it. A missed opportunity for Martina to make things up to Blanca by smoothly interceding and introducing her new DIL with pride and grace. And while we are on the subject of Fernando (at least peripherally), he and Micaela seem to have a surprisingly close relationship. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen it. There is a glimmer of good in Fernando, though hard to catch.

Surrounded by “rivals” for his wife’s affections, I had to smile that Rogelio didn’t stop Paula from hugging Luis but he stepped right in front of Ulisses. Cornered, is Luis finally going to tell the truth? Rogelio is secure in Paula’s love. If Luis had only stopped staring at Paula with puppy dog eyes, this secret would have been buried as it should have.

Thank heavens Paula survived the fall without consequence.

Imelda seemed genuinely upset at Ada’s illness. I see she is still sporting kitten heels; no flats for her.

“Irma shouldn't have pled guilty, she definitely could have rocked that 'not guilty by reason of insanity' defense!!” was exactly right Darcy! My heavens, the bitter truth in plain sight.

The balloons were a sweet gesture from Lucas.

Does Fidel have an office? Seeing him standing as he works, it doesn’t seem as though he even has a chair.

Honorio can’t win for losing.

Minas de Pasión, Capítulo 2, Miércoles, 30 de Agosto, 2023

Confusion: Cleared, Secret: Told - Part 1/3

Some scenes are not in order.

Emilia keeps fighting with Leo. Seb comes and they knock him out. They take Nico and go as Leo regains consciousness.

Marijó runs into Gael. I sense teen love.

Roberta says she has a plan to make Emilia pay. Gee, woman, obsessed, much?

She goes to talk to the guy the paramedics took. Well, they left him there, they didn't take him to the hospital. ¿Qué? Roberta tells the guy she'll get him to the hospital if he lies and says HE is the one who put the explosives there. The guy at first refuses, but finally accepts.

Seb calls Orlando, who's the head of the police, to tell him (with Emilia's consent) someone tried to kidnap Nico. For whatever reason, the kid just DOESN'T SAY Leo didn't try to kidnap him now. HUGE beanie moment...

Ignacio and Tigre are planning to go to the "Cueva del Diablo" (Hell's Cave) to search for gold.

Gigí is drunk and dancing with some other women. Jennifer tells her she's making a fool of herself. Gigí doesn't seem to care and tells her she has to marry Mauricio Santamaría. Jennifer doesn't seem to really want to but Gigí isn't ready to give her choices. Yeah, whatever, shut it Berta.

Funnily enough, Leo went to the police to report Nico's attempted kidnapping, although, he, just like the rest, got the facts all wrong. He thinks Emilia and Seb were helping the first guy and that they kidnapped Nico. The woman who Leo is talking to doesn't seem to believe him. Orlando comes and only after she's realised they're friends she'll take the report seriously. Bruh. They seem to be good friends, Orlando even gifts him a PHONE because Leo's not working. Tightened my beanie...

Emilia and her kid are talking. Nico FINALLY says Leo was a good guy, but Emilia tells him the kidnappers pretend to be the good guys (which is true, just not the case here).

The kidnapper mystery is solved for us: Roberta is on the phone with the actual kidnapper. She's not happy the kidnapping wasn't successful, but she's happy about Emilia realising she can't mess with La Patrona. Uh, Roberta, I don't want to ruin it for you or anything, but how will Emilia realise that if she doesn't know you sent the kidnapper?

Mau is drunk. He asks Zaira where Emilia is. She doesn't tell him. He says he loves Emilia, she should believe him because as the saying goes "the drunk and the kids always say the truth" (los borrachos y los niños siempre dicen la verdad - in my country it's "from kids and crazy people you find out the truth" - very interesting!) LOL he just called himself an alcoholic.

Jennifer is becoming VERY pathetic. She's literally BEGGING Mauricio to give her a chance, when he's straight up telling her he loves Emilia and they're together because their families want them to. Jennifer says SHE was the one who has always been by his side, not Emilia, the one who left town and returned with someone else's kid! (Okay. I promised to myself I won't actively compare this with La Patrona, BUT Jennifer is supposed to be a fused Julia-Patricia. Patricia was literally telling her sisters not to judge Gabriela for being a single mom. There's no way she'd have that kind of reaction. That's an Irene thing.)

Confusion: Cleared, Secret: Told - Part 2/3

Adalberto tries to get Gigí to stop making a fool of herself, unsuccessfully. He wants to find the music boy (Seb), to maybe divert the attention to him instead of his wife. LOL.

Leo remembers one time when he was a kid where Roberta accused him of having hit Mau (they're siblings). He said he didn't do it, which earned him a slap from Roberta. But the worst part is her locking him up in a closet for "punishment". (Okay. Roberta is VERY different from the OG Patrona, Antonia Guerra. She was no saint either, but at least she didn't lock her kids in closets). He goes home (I assume to his mother's - stepfather's). A new face opens the door. Okay, before anyone gets confused: that's Joaquina. She has the same last name with Roberta (Castro), but she ain't living the luxury life. She looks more like a servant. She's happy to see Leo and so is he to see her.

Sara is calling Leo. No answer.

Later, Nico is dreaming about having a father. Why are all these telenovela kids so annoying and malagradecidos? They have a loving mother and they keep whining they want a dad! Emilia hears him and they talk with Seb. Seb thinks he'll realise he doesn't need anyone else some day. Emilia asks him "if you knew something that would hurt a person you love, would you tell them?" Seb thinks it's about Nico, Emilia says it's about someone else. Seb says it would hurt more if they kept living without knowing the truth, besides she's an honest person.

Mau is outside Emilia's house and is screaming his lungs out. Emilia gets out to tell him to leave. He doesn't, he insists he loves her. Emilia says he has a girlfriend, he should respect her at least! Said girlfriend is spying on them behind a tree. Mau just doesn't get the VERY clear "get lost" message. Emilia tells him that everything's going horrible, today they tried to abduct her son. He says if there's another he can do, she says no. Seb comes out, they start low-key fighting again. Ugh.

Leo tells Joaquina about Nico. We learn that when he was a kid, he liked to pretend Joaquina was his mom and called her so until they caught him, ouch! Ignacio, Roberta and Marijó come and Leo tells them about Nico too. Roberta asks him who were the kidnappers, he says everything is settled, he's made a report. They start arguing with Roberta about him leaving in the first place and Ignacio tells them to stop. Leo takes him to rest. After Roberta left, Marijó asks Joaquina "why doesn't she love him? He's her son!"

Adalberto is telling Gigí sexist comments, like "women have to be at home" and "if you gave me a son blah blah". The odd part is that SHE had the money before they got married and thanks to that he is where he is. Adalberto doesn't deny it but starts being more annoying.

Emilia doesn't want to go to work to not leave Nico alone. Seb, who is STILL HERE for some reason and has cooked breakfast, tells her it's not needed and mentions some Doña Alicia who can take care of Nico. Emilia got the promotion by the way because she is "loyal and HONEST" according to Ignacio and she STILL hasn't told him about Roberta yet. Yep, very honest...

Roberta sees a notification on Ignacio's phone. It's the notary, he asks him to come to sign some papers to give some property to Emilia!

Leo and Ignacio are talking about some sacrifice Leo will make (staying in San Lorenzo?)

Roberta goes to the notary and blackmails him with some pictures of him with a much younger woman after he refuses to tell her which building Ignacio is leaving to Emilia. She says that half the town helps her and the other half is scared of her.

Minas de Pasión, Capítulo 2, Miércoles, 30 de Agosto, 2023

Confusion: Cleared, Secret: Told - Part 3/3

Gigí is still being annoying. Now she's pressuring Jennifer into marrying Mauricio, even though Jennifer clearly tells her he doesn't want her.

Ignacio shows Emilia the new person in the company, Leonardo. She recognises him as the "kidnapper" and goes to attack him again.

(No subs and awful sound from this point on.) Marijó tells Joaquina she sent some (internship?) email pretending to be her dad for some reason (hm, maybe Roberta? Lol). She sees Gael again. A woman comes and tells him something about the fiesta. (I think she told him about Nico.)

Ignacio manages to get Leo and Emilia to clear the confusion. He says Emilia is Nico's mom. LOL Leo says "how can the kid be so normal with a mother like you". Anyway, he tells her about the ACTUAL wannabe kidnapper and that he tried to save the kid (Emilia remembers Nico telling her he's the good guy). Ignacio says they'll have to work together from now on. Emilia leaves.

Nico confesses to Gael that he left from the fiesta because some kids were chasing him. Gael wants their names. They promise they'll have a closer relationship from now on.

Leo is on the phone with Sara. She's still fussing about him leaving because he caused problems to the company, he says he'll sort them out. She also whines about him not calling her and he tells her about his phone. Roberta is overhearing this. Sara asks Leo how long he's planning to stay here, he says he doesn't know. Sara freaks out more. After the phone call, Leo tells Roberta he knew she'd overhear. Roberta asks him why he left his company to work here, Leo says something about Ignacio (calls him "dad" again). Roberta doesn't really like him calling Ignacio "dad".

Ignacio is with Emilia and Leo in the mines. I literally couldn't listen to it even though I had the episode with almost full sound because of technical problems and loud neighbors. I don't think I missed anything important though.

Sara is STILL fussing about Leo's absence in the event. Roberta calls her and tells her Leo is thinking of staying here. She's a smart girl, she'll figure out a way to get him back the the capital, according to Roberta.

Ignacio is now alone with Emilia. He says Leo is a good person and they just had a bad start. He calls her La Patrona of the mine. She says she doesn't want to be a Patrona. After some more talk, Emilia FINALLY tells her godfather about Roberta being unfaithful to him with Fidel. He doesn't take the news well, he literally faints. Leo comes too.

And with Ignacio on the ground, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Martina wanting to avoid further 'disgrase'...I cannot stand her. I have a suspicion that even if Ignacio had done nothing to harm them, he'd still be an enemy to Martina. So in a sense Fernando is right. Martina seems to think Fernando is just being unreasonable and doesn't try to figure out why he feels the way he does. I definitely got the sense she prefers Rogelio as her golden child. Rogelio loves being large and in charge too and both of them love burrying their heads in the sand.
I loved Ceci shouting at Paula because perfect Paula pisses me off. Andrea was right to tell her it's none of her business. I do think she should find something else to do instead of running around trying to make everyone else play nice with Martina. She isn't a kindergarten teacher and the brothers aren't kids. Luis also told Martina to mind her own business. Frankly, serves her right for reading his diary. Now we'll get another 'Rogelio is jealous' scene. Could he please stop with this nonsense? Apparently when it comes to Paula, he doesn't trust even his own brother.
I somehow felt they portrayed arguments between Paula and Ceci on different level. In Ceci's case it seemed more like a betrayal even though you could say this too was an issue only between Ignacio and Rogelio. It might be just my impression, but it feels as though Ceci is supposed to be seen as the unreasonable one because Paula has only known about the letter for a couple of weeks and I can't see her telling about it to Ignacio. She reproaches Rogelio for being mean to his mum and yet agrees it's fine to keep this secret from Ignacio. I will never believe she thought Irma would someday tell the truth. So she wants to get people on Martina's side because it benefits her but Ignacio doesn't need to know the truth? Maybe she does genuinely like Martina, but I think her kids accepting her would have happened at some point. In a way Paula picked an easy battle she knew she could win. And she once again picked Rogelio's side because she agreed to keep quiet.
How can Imelda be worried about her daughter? Or rather how can this be genuine? And does that doctor suggest they have a child to save their daughter? I mean, if they have only one child, how are they supposed to get her a sibling? This is disturbing. Imelda is sure to use Ada's illness to keep Fernando with her, which proves she in a way loves herself more than her own daughter: her own wishes come first. Ada could live with divorced parents so I hate the whole 'she begs us to stay together.' She is a baby who doesn't even speak yet, you evil harpie.
It's a pity Martina didn't stand up for Blanca. It seems Paula's words didn't have a strong effect on her. She is only nice to Paula but wants her other sons to accept Gabriel just because...I'd love to see a more genuine change in her. Now she actually just seems like a coward. She could threaten Erica and mistreat Paula, but can't confront her lady 'friends'. I hope she does change. But it's just sooo slooow.

ETERNAMENTE

After last night, I am concerned about the family business. Could it end up transporting drugs via the suggested new “messenger service” because Fernando will put too much trust in Ignacio?

ETERNAMENTE

Darcy, "It seems the scare has convinced Felipa it's time to stop trying to get pregnant, which I'm sure means she'll be pregnant before we know it!" I think that Melitón was even more upset than she was realizing that not even a child is immune from bad things happening to them. Yes, parenthood takes a certain amount of courage and faith. "When we first saw the baby sick, my first thought was she made her child sick for attention, but if it's a blood disease I guess not." Interesting possibility and I would not have even been surprised. They could have done a PSA for Munchausen by proxy.

Diana, "Cornered, is Luis finally going to tell the truth? Rogelio is secure in Paula’s love. If Luis had only stopped staring at Paula with puppy dog eyes, this secret would have been buried as it should have." You said that perfectly. Luis has gotten on my last nerve. I couldn't believe that couldn't help himself and went to the doctor's office just in case Paula and Rogelio needed something. What a dolt! Andrea cannot kick him to the curb fast enough. What kind of answer will he give Rogelio? I cannot wait to hear that. "Does Fidel have an office? Seeing him standing as he works, it doesn’t seem as though he even has a chair." Thanks for the laugh! Yes, he is always on foot with his trusty notebook in one hand and a pen in the other.

waterlily, "And does that doctor suggest they have a child to save their daughter? I mean, if they have only one child, how are they supposed to get her a sibling?" You and I were on the same wave length. I do not think that the doctor was suggesting that they have a baby for "parts" so to speak ( I think he was just giving them general info about bone marrow compatibility) but I do think that is how Fernando and Imelda might see it and be desperate enough to take that step and have another child. The big issue for me was that ADA (I will never get that name right) hasn't even been diagnosed yet so the whole transplant conversation was very premature.

Eternamente

Jarifa, thank you for bringing us every moment.

So sad that a sick baby is the new storyline. When the doctor talked about a sibling being a good candidate for a transplant (?) , I thought Fernando and Imelda looked at each other . Might they consider having another baby? Years ago,I remember a news story about a couple who had another baby to save their daughter from some disease.

I love to see the brothers support each other.

The leading lady always has one or two guys in love with her to give the galan a run for his money. Likewise, another woman \women is \are in love with the galan.
Paula isn't just pretty, she is kind , thoughtful, talented, and easy to love. Thus, we have starry eyed Luis and everready Ulisses putting her on a pedestal.

Martina should have stood up for Blanca . Shame on her. I am glad that Blanca just walked away with her head held high.

Eternamente

Susan, thanks for the reminder about the supermoon last night. It was something I remember that news story and being concerned that a person would grow up knowing its conception had been due to a need for “parts.” ITA Martina is changing but it seems to be at a glacial pace. At least Blanca has her head “held high” and on straight to be able deal in such a hostile environment.

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa, another excellent recap. And we can see the next crisis will be when the Iturbides get caught transporting drugs.

I was thinking Lucas, as a cousin, might be able to be the best match. At least Imelda was decent to him last night. But boy, she had no compassion for Paula when she fell down the stairs. I was afraid she’d lose the baby.

When they were all at the dinner table they wanted to know where Martina got the letter, at least I think they were. Meanwhile Imelda was saying something nasty, as usual. Why didn’t Martina just tell them Imelda gave her the letter. And then her announcement in front of the proper ladies about Blanca and Marco. She sure is an unlikable character.

I was so disappointed that the kiss between Honorio and Micaela never happened.

Marco working for the company was a surprise. I thought he wanted to be a mechanic.

Tonight Luis will have to answer Rogelio! More drama!

Weirdo, wow wow!! Thank you for every detail as our story immediately starts spinning forward. I am so in for this show . I like the way you refuse to call Beta "Gigi ." Calling out posers. Yes, Girl. Come sit here next to me , ha

We already have two guys hopelessly devoted to a feisty, prickly Emilia...steadfast good guy singing Seb( I guess he slept overnight on the sofa) and Roberta's son, drunk as a skunk , spoiled Mauricio. For some reason , I like them both . ...well, dark hair, dark eyes. However, we all know that cranky, perpetually pissed Emilia is destined for the large and in charge galan Leo. Oswaldo is so ready to play the leading man.

I am having trouble thinking of Theo from Invenicible as " Gael." That is bending my mind a bit .

Okay, the stage is set with the Wicked Queen, Snow White , and Prince Charming . We even have the mine without the seven dwarves. These telenovelas are really fairytales . I am anxious to see what happens next.

MINAS

Weirdo, what an excellent rendition of a story that has burst through the gate, hurtling down the track, full speed ahead!

You explained so much that I missed and/or just flew over my head, including “Uh, Roberta, I don't want to ruin it for you or anything, but how will Emilia realise that if she doesn't know you sent the kidnapper?” A black, evil heart. Targeting a child for kidnapping, locking kids in a closet? Her aura emits hatred.

Emilia is so different when she is with her son and Seb, exuding a warmth absent from her everyday persona. A straight shooter, running on instinct and fueled by a deep entrenched anger.

It seems (speculation only) that Roberta is slowly poisoning Ignacio. His confusion at times is palpable, I hope Ignacio or Leo are able to put the pieces together before it’s too late.

“Seb, who is STILL HERE for some reason” had me smiling away. I like this engaging actor ever since I first saw him in Ringo. The solid friend, doomed not to get the girl.

Mau, who can’t walk, takes his self-pitying, crying, soused self and gets in the car!! Have we seen him in any scene where he isn’t bawling his eyes out? A tragedy in the making.

Sara, overly fond of vests, is another whimpering, annoying significant other. What do the galans see in these simpering, self-centered women?

Orlando is gorgeous.

Adalberto is playing another pathetic, extremely unlikeable character here.

Weirdo, I’m still struggling to ID some of the characters. I have a much easier time when I know the actor but there are many here I’ve not seen before. I am so grateful for your fantastic coverage of this.

That was a nasty fall Paula took , but I remembered that a friend's doctor told her that if the pregnancy is good , you would be safe riding on a corn husker which is a very bumpy ride .

Lots of accidents in this show. Igy bounced back quickly from getting hit by the car . The writers seem to want to move us along from one scare to the next.

Luis finally committed to a girlfriend but is still carrying a torch for Paula. Really ? He seems a little too old for that . Usually young guys like Marco tend to do that and seem oblivious to the fact that the object of their affections is happily married. Will confessing to Rog make Luis wake up about his fantasy of Paula ?

ETERNAMENTE

"ITA Martina is changing but it seems to be at a glacial pace. At least Blanca has her head “held high” and on straight to be able deal in such a hostile environment". So true Jarifa!!

Again, another squandered, missed opportunity for Martina to do the right thing. And to be honest, if Paula hadn't kept mum about Martina's secret rendezvous, would their relationship have softened? Is Blanca going to have to discover yet another troubling secret in order to be accepted?

Paula is fast becoming one of my favorite heroines. BTW, is there a female equivalent of "galan"?

Diana, ha. We all like fairytales , don't we?

Your comment about vests ( witchy Roberta had a long red leather one on) made me think of Kirby's comments on the actresses ' wardrobe choices . Remember ?

I don't remember seeing Seb before , but I guess I have. I watched Ringo, but some telenovelas just evaporate for me .

How did I miss Orlando? If you like him ,I probably will, too ! We seem to have the same taste in telenovios. He must have appeared while I was outside looking at the moon.

Tierra – Just the highlights – This is everything I can remember this morning after watching last night, I was too tired to take notes during viewing! I apologize in advance for typos as I have to get back to work!

Santos tries to go back to tell Maria Teresa that he loves her but security won’t let him – you can’t leave from the security entrance once you are in apparently. Santos convinces them he’s going to comply but he looks like he’ll make a run for it – he doesn’t.

Adriana continued her flirtation with Rutilio in hopes of securing her place in society with his help, in case Grimaldi makes trouble for her. (I wonder if Norma would still think she’s such a wonderful friend if she could see this!!! Then again Rutilio is such a cad that stealing her husband could be considered an act of friendship in this case) Later, Adriana tells her sidekick they have to stay out of town because she’s afraid running into Grimaldi. Sidekick rather logically points out they won’t know if Grimaldi is in town or not if they aren’t in town to see if he’s there. Adriana isn’t taking chances and when she doesn’t show up to the book club (or whatever the society ladies are) the rest of the ladies are angry with Norma for scaring her off and feel there’s no point in even meeting with Adriana! (Aren’t we a little to old to hero worship our friends, ladies?)

Maria Teresa and Estaban plan the future of the ranch together and he doesn’t like her selling her apt to clean up his mess. They work out that they are in this together.

Estaban seems to believe Aldo truly loves Maria Teresa which I find odd since he’s definitely suspicious of Aldo in business…. Either way, Aldo tries to be the hero and win back Maria Teresa. He gets Estaban realized from his restrictions of not being able to leave the house and he offers to give Maria Teresa the money for the ranch so she doesn’t have to sell her apartment. MT is too independent for this but Aldo points out that when they are married it won’t be his money, it will be their money!! (I want to know if Aldo truly has money or is just fronting??? I mean if he has money to throw around why get involved in fraud schemes at your lady’s company?) MT tries to backpedal on them resuming their wedding plans but she doesn’t try hard enough.

Maria Teresa admits to nanny she’s falling for Santos and Nanny is thrilled!! Santos is the best man ever, except for that pesky womanizing habit. Maria Teresa is both hopeful and worried and she doesn’t want daddy to know for some reason.

Silly Camila thinks she can get the upper hand on Marco via seduction?? I think she’s fooling herself, but he comes over and she puts on the loving amante act, they have sex.

Chris is still worried about how to catch a woman and still comparing himself to Santos. The maid (forgot her name) gives him excellent advice to be himself and not Santos – I think she’s the third person to tell him this obvious gem. Chris doesn’t seem entirely convinced.

Tierra – Just the highlights – This is everything I can remember this morning after watching last night, I was too tired to take notes during viewing! I apologize in advance for typos as I am hurrying to get back to work!

Santos arrives home raving about La Patrona and Remedios immediately realizes something happened in the big city. She is not thrilled!!! She warns Santos he can’t be playing with the boss lady because he’ll lose his job! Santos assures he’s not playing; Maria Teresa is different and he’s in love this time. He’s going to tell her how he feels as soon as she returns!

Norma rejects Rutilio again and the next morning that her husband disgusts her and she isn’t interested in improving their relationship. Norma’s one and only concern is her son. He can have his other women but he needs to have the decency to come home to the guest room and not HER bed.

Love letters are exchanged by Regina and Clemente, young love is in bloom and they are both feeling it!!!

Santos tells everyone else at the ranch that they are saved! Thanks to Maria Teresa, of course!!! He goes on and on about how their best days are arriving! Everyone is very excited except for Valentina who is very astute and he pissed to learn Santos saw the view from the Patrona’s apartment at night!!

Oh and Marco – we learned a little more about him last night. According to Estaban (telling Maria Teresa, who asked because Santos always says not to trust Marco) Marco’s father was a harsh man who treated his employees and his son unfairly…..hmm. Santos and Bernarda also talk about Marco and he tells her that he is sure Marco is interested in Maria Teresa as he was consistently calling her when they were in the city. Bernarda looks dismayed and sadly jealous.

TIERRA

Thank you for this terrific recap Darcy!

Adriana and Rutilio made me cringe, especially her calling him "Ruti". Ack. :(

"Estaban seems to believe Aldo truly loves Maria Teresa which I find odd since he’s definitely suspicious of Aldo in business" was astute and exactly right! I need to get my beanie out of storage.

Too bad Remedios immediately tried to pour cold water on Santos' enthusiasm. Thankfully, his head is still in the clouds and is ready to profess his love although as TN fate dictates, his timing is sure to be faulty.

Why Camila would humiliate herself to such a degree with Marco is unfathomable.

Bernarda is crushed and mercifully so; she deserves far better than Marco. It (sadly) seems whatever relationship Bernarda and Esteban shared will remain hidden for the time being.

Norma is an oxygen waster and an annoyance.

With the seeming inevitable return of Aldo, it seems the door will be wide open for Valentina to burst through, staking her claim on Santos. Let the games begin...

Minas

Thanks guys!

Susan, Gigí, sorry, BERTA I mean, is SO annoying. She sometimes annoys me more than Roberta. Roberta is more evil though.

Lol, yes, telenovelas are fairytales in their way.

Diana, "It seems (speculation only) that Roberta is slowly poisoning Ignacio." I tend to agree with you. It certainly wouldn't be shocking for Roberta.

Tomorrow I have real life stuff to do in the morning, so the recap will probably be up either earlier or later than usual.

It's time for my language self-studying: Spanish and German. I'll be back later today (or not, if I'm too tired).

Tierra

Darcy, thank you for fitting this recap into your busy day .

I am trying to keep up. I like Santos and MT together. Aldo is puffing up to try to keep MT . I don't think he has any money . ..just muscles and moxie.

Question...was Santos really a skirtchaser or were the skirts just all chasing him? He looks so naive and innocent for his age..

Minas

Thank you Urban, your recap is fantastic!!!

There's still so much so learn that not much sticks out. I am still put off a little by the extreme aggression in Emilia. Imagine getting the crap kicked out of you, no questions asked, by some lady and her friend just because you stopped a kidnapping!

Diana, I agree Orlando was very handsome!! Susan he was the cop! Yummy!

MINAS

I watched Ep 1 last night and think it’s off to a good start. It’s been a while since I’ve followed a Caray recap so I hope to keep coming back for the Minas recaps. Thanks Weirdo!

In typical telenovela fashion it seems like Leo and Emilia will start off on the wrong foot.

Minas

Diana and Doris, I will have to pay more attention tonight and not go moon gazing so I don't miss Orlando the cop.

Tierra

Diana, I agree with you about Norma, I can't decide if I dislike the actress or if I just dislike every character I've seen her play - which were basically the same character with different names in different novelas....very unlikable.

Susan 'Question...was Santos really a skirtchaser or were the skirts just all chasing him? He looks so naive and innocent for his age..' That's soo true!!! And an excellent point, I don't know if Santos is a skirtchaser exactly, but from what we've seen he hasn't done anything to discourage those who chase him. He may have been the chasee and not the chaser but I think he's taken full advantage of being wanted. It is interesting though that he hasn't lost that innocent wonder in his expression.

Sorry...Darcy not Doris.

By the way...Where's Doris? Havent seen her on the patio lately.

Tierra

Darcy , yes, that wide eyed innocent gaze is usually long gone by the time guys are Santos' age .

O/T

Susan, I reached out to doris recently. She is doing all right and is waiting for the right telenovela to rejoin the patio.

TF, so good to see your post! Welcome back.

Darcy, "innocent wonder" is perfect and it's exactly why I am drawn to the character of Santos. He is a good man and you nailed it, he is the one being chased but "hasn't done anything to discourage those" who do. I can't blame Valentina but he is the "adult" and needs to shut her down. Kindly of course...

Diana

Was the guy who promissed to take the blame the same one superheroine Emilia went to save? I find it hard to keep track who is who here. And who actually left those explosives there?
So is Ignacio supposed to die already? If so, Wirdow, you got your wish- it's only episode 2 or 3 and we might have a body. I´m am bit surprised Ignacio reacted so badly to the news. Doesn´t he realise on some level his wife doesn´t love him? If they are going to go for the old enemies to lovers here, I am not sure I´ll enjoy the romance all that much. There´s something about this trope that I don´t like.
Does anyone know what Jenifer´s mother wanted to do with champagne glasses for the wedding?

Minas

Darcy, "Imagine getting the crap kicked out of you, no questions asked, by some lady and her friend just because you stopped a kidnapping!" LOL as funny as that sounds written, this situation IRL must suck.

Hi, TF! "In typical telenovela fashion it seems like Leo and Emilia will start off on the wrong foot" Yep, they definitely didn't start off nicely.

"I find it hard to keep track who is who here." Same, waterlily, we have so many characters and so little explanations. I'm frustrated with that. I agree with your comments, your questions are pretty much mine too. For the explosives, unfortunately I didn't hear the guy's name that well, but I don't think it was anyone who's in the main cast. So why did Roberta want someone else to take the blame for that? I don't know. This show is confusing.

"Doesn´t he realise on some level his wife doesn´t love him?" Lol yes, she isn't exactly making this hard for anyone to realise!
