ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #54/55 PAGE ONE

Never a dull moment for the inhabitants of Villa Morelia.

BLANCA/MARCO get NO support for their marriage from Martina OR Micaela for the same reason: marrying out of their social class. Micaela starts treating her god-daughter formally as another "lady" of the house which hurts Blanca to the core since Micaela was more like a mother to her than a god-mother. Martina blames Micaela for the whole mess since she didn't send Blanca away when she told her to. She adds that at least Micaela always knew her place. Eventually, Micaela cannot keep ignoring her love for Blanca and the two are reconciled. Micale is afraid that Blanca is going to end up hurt.

Marco wants Blanca to work with him on his hotel bus project but also wants her to continue her studies at the university.

Marco tells Rogelio about him having another possible partner interest in his project who wants to start looking for investors. Rogelio likes that but then schools Marco on doing business: environmental impact study? marketing study? How much will the initial investment be? What percentage will a partner want? Rogelio tells a stunned Marco that he has his homework cut out for him.

FERNANDO/IMELDA Fernando goes out for lunch and after work with Ximena. Love is blooming. Fernando arrives late that night and Imelda is waiting for him. She has a problem with his excuse that he was working late on a Saturday. The next day he hears exactly what Imelda thinks of him (and it isn't good) on the baby monitor as she complains to her mother about him. He doesn't tell her what he heard but asks her for a divorce. That night he spends on the couch at Ximena's. When he goes home, Imelda throws a fit about him not coming home. He asks her for a divorce again. Beatriz shows Imelda the photos of Fernando and Ximena. Imelda recognizes Ximena as now working at the baby store. She goes there and bad mouths her to the owner who just happens to have known Ximena since they were kids. The owner leaves tp pick up an order and Imelda verbally attacks Ximena. Security drags her out screaming insults as members of the public record the scene on their phones.

EVA/FIDEL have the traditional "asking for her hand" ceremony at Eva's place. It is black tie. Ignacio and Cecilia are there as well as Rogelio and Paula. Father Cuco is Ignacio's representative and Paula does the honors for her aunt. When Fidel announces their engagement and that Eva is pregnant at Rogelio's party, Martina immediately tells him that they need to talk.

LUCAS is turning into a real brat with Paula and with other kids. Paul has to go pick him up at school after ANOTHER fight. . When his father says that Paula will arrange his play date because he is busy, Lucas asks why? Rogelio says because she is his wife. Lucas mutters that he wishes that his father didn't have a wife. He complains to his Aunt Pati. Lucas tells her and anyone else who asks that Paula is stealing his mother's place and that she isn't his mother. They all tell him that Paula is not trying to be his mother. Things get so bad that both Martina and Micaela tells Rogelio and Paula that the boy needs limits. Paula is in LA LA land and seems to think that love and time will take care of it all. Neither Martina nor Micaela agree. Rogelio talks to Rogelio saying that he will put up with his sadness but not his rude behavior towards Paula. Lucas says he need to go to sleep.

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS PAGE TWO

IGNACIO tells his therapist this is his last visit because he doesn't feel like he is making any progress. He tells her about a dream he had where he was ten years old. He was being beaten along with his mother by a man. The man told them to get out. She left and when he want outside, there was only a dark forest and she was gone. The therapist explains that kids are afraid of being angry at their parents. Just because he is angry with his mother doesn't mean that he doesn't love her. She suggests that he live in a different way with his mother and his wife. She never explains what that is. She asks if he will dare try it?

MARTINA/PAULA/IMELDA/IRMA Rogelio has the birthday dinner he never wanted but that Martina insisted on. Ignacio and Cecilia were not invited. Everyone else is there. They seem to have a good time with karaoke and even a scene that Uni cut where Martina plays the piano and they all sing together. Suddenly, Rogelio has lost track of Lucas so he and Paul go looking for him. When Paula goes out into the garden she catches Martina and Gabriel kissing. She quickly redirects Rogelio who has found out that Lucas is in his room. Rogelio is none the wiser. Martina is embarrassed and petrified that Paula will tell everybody. Paula tries to make light of it to make her comfortable but then calls Cecilia to tell her with the promise that Ceciia will not tell.

The next day in order to get in good with Paula and to make sure she can convince Paula not to tell anyone, Martina invites her to a spa day. Imelda is aggravated she isn't invited. Again and again, Paula assures Martina that her secret is good with her. Martina explains that she and Gabriel have a relationship that goes way back. Paula compliments Martina on being a warrior fighting for her family but tells her the time has come to let her adult children fend for themselves and to concentrate on herself. Both Rogelio and Imelda notice that something has changed in the relationship between Martina and Paula but have no idea what it is.

Imelda decides to use what she thinks is going to be her ace in the hole to stay on Martina's good side and gives Martina the letter from Hipólito. Martina reads the letter and invites Irma over. Irma doesn't get beyond the gate. Martina is there to greet her and to tell her that she now knows that Hipólito wasn't the one who made her son suffer as he did. It was irma's own pride. Hipólito's last wish was to make sure that Ignacio was recognized as his son and to give him his name. She shows Irma the letter.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Ximena was good playing with the balero.

Poor Felipa and Melitón can never get a few days off!

Ximena's brother sees the for rent sign at her apartment complex.

That is it for me. Please add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, your very wise and witty narration of tonight’s events were exceptional. Your recaps ebb and flow as smooth as silk and are a joy to read.

For a very brief moment I thought Martina might recall finding Blanca in the chapel after Marco’s accident, declaring her love as she prayed for him. Martina was so frigid, so unyielding. Micaela’s coldness toward Blanca was shocking and heartbreaking. Seeing the bright light in her eyes start to dim reflected Blanca’s tender heart was truly wounded. I don’t know what was said when Marco went to Micaela to intercede on Blanca’s behalf but she certainly was kinder to him than to her “adored” godchild. Her “place” was to support Blanca and initially, she failed miserably. Even Felipa managed to get a few scowls and comments in. Not the finest hour for either.

“When Fidel announces their engagement and that Eva is pregnant at Rogelio's party, Martina immediately tells him that they need to talk”. Too late Martina! Another bride you won’t be able to stand but the best part is that Eva doesn’t give a damn what you think! The little ceremony was odd having everyone seated at the table rather than standing but all were thoroughly enjoying themselves, even Ignacio who seemed to “crack the cement” by smiling. 😊

Paula finally got the goods on Martina but true to her nature, was kind and silent (well, almost).

Lucas’ rudeness to Paula is inexcusable. I hated it when Marina put her hand on Paula in “empathy” as she is primarily responsible for poisoning Lucas against Paula. Oh, the hypocrisy!

“Ximena was good playing with the balero.” Yes she was and Fernando is thoroughly smitten. Imelda was such a bad idea on every level and will now make his life a living hell.

OT/Scheduling

Minas de Pasión will start in exactly a week (August 29), replacing Mujer.

I will recap the Gran Estreño. Who'll join me on the recapping team?

eternamente
I can't believe Rogelio needed to be told by his mummy dearest that his kid needed limits in order to actually talk to the child. This is why I dislike him more and more: he is only good at getting jealous and is absolutely useless at solving real issuesthat affect his wife. He might be good with people and confident, but it doesn't seem to translate into dealings with his own family members. I do not like the man at all. I think this relationship also lacked something from the start as they went for love at first sight.
Martinadeserves a good slap.'knew your place'. It would do her good to be thrown into the environment where no one gives a damn who she is. Micaela's behaviour was also horrific. What did she think to achieve with this? Blanca already got married so it's done. There's nothing she can do. She talks about her fear of Blanca being hurt and so hurts her more by her coldness. It felt as if she was on Martina's side even though she maybe didn't intend this. It's horrible what a lifetime of servitude andbeing under someone else's authority can do toyou. Marco is no saint so I don't know what Martina thinks Blanca 'won' by marrying him. I'm not talking about status and wealth, but the guy treated her horribly at the start so I'm still baffled she thinks he was worth this huge sacrifice. Now let's wait for another pregnancy and I'll start my breathing exercises.
That birthday party was my favourite thing. All chaos and fun. I'd love to go to such a party. Mexicans sure know how to have fun.
I wonder what that 'different way of living' is like according to the therapist. Does she always speak in riddles? Her point about children thinking it's bad to be angry at your parents was great though and so true.
Martina thinks Paula would do what Martina herself would have done in her place. So funny. She first mistreats Paula and now has to fear she might reveal her secret. Both she and Imelda deserve what's happeneing to them. There's a saying in Spanishthat is something along the lines that a thief thinks everyone is like him. It fits Martina in this situation.
Imelda hasn't received lessons on the topic of 'your marital problems are solved at home'. I thought everyone in Morelia was taught this. Maybe she skipped the class. The girl is hopeless. She is another one who deliberately ruins things for herself and has to suffer. Only Imelda always blames everyone else. It was funny when she said at one point all her problems are Paula's fault. Even her mother has more sense so I wonder how she managed to become so self-absorbed and lacking introspection and a simple ability to think ahead. Narcisism was mentioned in her case. I am kind of disappointed if that's the case because I somehow thought narcisists were more inteligent. She managed to manipulate Fernando at one point but that wasn't difficult because it was obvious how to do it.

Jarifa, thank you so much for bringing us every moment of this busy episode . As Diana commented, your couchcap was " smooth as silk."

My heart broke for both Blanca and Marco. They are young and in love and newly married, so these should be the happiest days of their lives. Instead, both MarTina and Michaela are telling them what a huge mistake they made. Cold water on those tender , young hearts. When you are young and in love , the whole world should seem to shine.

Speaking of love, it is suddenly blooming everywhere in this show. Fernando
Seems so happy and lighthearted with Ximena. I don't like that Fernando is married and courting another woman , but Imelda is a cold, cruel, calculating person . Hearing her talking to her mother over the baby monitor sealed the deal for Fernando. Now, Imelda is going to release all her viciousness. She was throwing baby clothes at Ximaena in that shop, and after the guard pulled her out of the store she was hitting people with her purse and she threw a women's cellphone !!! Yikes !!! I am afraid that we are going to see hell hath no fury like Imelda scorned.

Fidel is so happy to finally habe the family he never had . yay . The karaoke party was fun.

Luis looks happy with his new girl. Yay

Lucas is bratty and still dealing with his grief, but he will eventually cine around surrounded by his new big , crazy family .

Will counseling and Ceci's love transform Igy?...I hope so. I like happy endings .

Eternamente

Thank you Jarifa for another fabulous recap! :)

I loved how when Martina told Marco she was disappointed because she had other plans for him, he just simply told her she doesn't get to plan for other people. Oh, how much simpler her life would be if she could understand that.

Micaela's treatment of Blanca was harsh and hard to watch. I'm glad she folded quickly!

I actually agree with Paula about Lucas. Is he being a brat, yes! But was his young life just turned absolutely upside down and shattered, also yes. Unless I missed some time passing scene, Erika's death is still really recent, I would give him time to process and figure it out even if that meant he was a little rude for awhile. If he was still rude months later or if the behavior escalated than I would feel differently. But if a little boy can't deal with his step mother in the immediate aftermath of his mom's sudden shocking death because he's afraid of someone else taking her place, I think you give him space to feel that and to work it out. As much as Paula loves Lucas and as loving as she is my guess is he'd come around on his own given time. Of course, Imelda purposely poisoning him against Paula adds another element to this.

I can't be on team Ximena. She seems sweet enough, but also stupid. She's playing with fire and however genuine her feelings may be, Fernando is married! Married to a crazy lady with a crazy mother and Ximena has been exposed to all of that. She should RUN!!! She is going to get burned and she already has a dangerous brother to worry about. If Fernando truly cares for her, he can seek her out when he's divorced and free of Imelda and the crazy.

When Paula told Cecelia about Martina, I thought for sure Ignacio was awake and overhearing it all....guess not. It will be interesting to see where all the therapy and being angry at mom coaching goes when Iggy finds out mommy kept him from being recognized by dad.

Eternamente 54/55

Gracias, Jarifa.

Kudos to Gabriel for his efforts at getting Martina to cut the apron strings she put on her children. He and Paula should strategize about this.

Martina's reaction to Marco and Blanca's marriage was no surprise, but Michaela's was. I was shocked at her coldness toward Blanca, but the actress skillfully showed how painful this was. Marco and Blanca should move out.

Rogelio does need a parenting course. Sudden parenthood is no easy task, especially with interference from other people with agendas. He's not around enough to see Imelda's efforts at undermining Paula or witnessed enough of her obvious cruelty over the baby.

Waterlily, many if not most narcissists are intelligent; I was raised by one. They usually know what nerves to hit and how to make people around them lose confidence and self-esteem because they can't handle seeing those traits in people they decide are their competition or their nemeses. That is what made her give that letter to Martina, but I don't think it will accomplish what she wants it to.

We have yet to see whether Ximena will lose her job, but if any of those videos go viral Imelda will be the loser. She threw the first blow and screamed out more consecutive insults that show her to be the one without class in that encounter.

More later.

Eternamente

Thanks so much Jarifa, i am really enjoying this show and your recaps!

Micaela was horrible to Blanca and I’m glad she came around. And Martina asked Marco not to move out. Maybe she sees herself losing more control daily and will become a softer version of herself. With a little help from Gabriel.

I wish Paula had not told Cecilia about the kiss. I really think Cecilia will tell Ignacio, who will tell the brothers.

I’m kind of glad Fernando overheard Imelda. He’s been getting annoyed with her comments at the dinner table and needs to realize what his wife is really like. But boy, she was overconfident in his feelings for her. Now a lot of people have the video of her verbally attacking Ximena. Too bad no one got a video of her mother physically attacking her. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!

Wow, Imelda took the whole box of letters! I thought I saw her put the letter in the box but never saw her put the whole box in the diaper bag. She is much worse than Martina, which I decided when she was filling Lucas’s head with terrible thoughts. Martina was sort of nice to the little girl that was in a special place.

Liz

Eternamente 54/55

I wonder how BSC Irma will become when she discovers that box is missing or is she hitting the point of no return? Seems a little early for that.

This was the first time I ever felt sorry for Fernando thanks to Imelda ignoring him. You'd think she would not have been so careless about having that conversation with her mother in the presence of the baby monitor. He should have recorded that.

Eventually Ignacio will find out that Irma kept him from his inheritance and he might turn on her.

ETERNAMENTE

Urban, "Eventually Ignacio will find out that Irma kept him from his inheritance and he might turn on her". I agree, that is what it will take...

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Thanks, all, for your point of view and info.

waterlily, “Now let’s wait for another pregnancy and I’ll start my breathing exercises.” Thanks for the laugh but so true. I am wondering if Blanca and even Cecilia will also end up pregnant. My guess is both will to only heighten the drama. The party scene seemed to be one of the most realistic party scenes I have seen in a novela with Rogelio sprawled on the couch and everyone singing karaoke, etc.

Diana, thanks for reminding us of Martina’s overhearing Blanca in the chapel. I had forgotten all about that with so much happening. One would think that would have made an impression on her but it looks like social class trumps all. I agree that Lucas’ rudeness is inexcusable mother’s death considered. He needs to learn that even if he hates Paula, he needs to be civil. I have a feeling he will be Rogelio’s biggest challenge.

Darcy, I agree it would be so much better if Fernando would wait to get divorced before pursuing Ximena. Unfortunately, he reminds me of one of those men who will only leave one woman if he has another on the line. Ignacio’s reaction will be interesting when he finds out the truth about his father and the deceit of his mother.
Too bad that Cecilia hasn’t left him. She needs to take off her rose-coloured glasses. It could get ugly and dangerous.

Urban, yes “Kudos to Gabriel”. Martina now has heard the same message from two different sources. Maybe after she tells the family she is going out with Gabriel, that will happen . However, if she is waiting on telling them when there are not so many family problems, she might be waiting until the novela is over. Can’t wait to see what happens with all of those videos the public took. Imelda seemed to try to use the “Iturbide” name for leverage in her attack. I will vote for the videos going viral.

Liz, I agree about it being better if Paula had not called Cecilia. There is too much risk there. I understand her desire to share the info with someone but now she has lied to Martina. I was also shocked that Imelda managed to steal the whole box of letters. What really has me wondering is if Imelda giving Martina the letter will earn her any brownie points with Martina.

Tierra de Esperanza 8/22/23
Episode 16: Notes; Part 1 of 2

Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest.

Pedro explained he had done what he could. He then began leading Santos and Chris to the scene of the crime.

Regina put the drawing in a box and sat down to think.

Adriana and Irasema dangled their feet in the pool as Adriana told her that Marco will reduce Maria Teresa to desperation to sell [at the lowest possible price?].

Maria Teresa worried about her father. As Marco drove she looked back and saw Santos' truck behind them.

Bernarda sat on the riverbank and cried. Valentina arrived and told her what was wrong. There was no answer but Valentina told her that there was nobody at the ranch.

Pedro, Santos, and Chris saw a path leading away from the spot but had no way to follow.

Norma went to Remedios worried about her son. Remedios tried to convince her to let him be an adult with his own decisions. [Remedios, you may have to cast a spell for that.]

Regina was writing in her journal when Valentina returned to tell her about Bernarda and said she never tells her anything.

Santos tried to explain the situation to Don Danilo who was angry and wanting his money back. Of course he had already had the Kool Air poured down his throat.

Adriana went to see Rutilio wearing clothes 20 years too revealing for her. After getting him to sit next to her for the maximum boobage view she started talking about a business arrangement while coming on to him.

Don Danilo threatened to call the authorities on Santos if there was no satisfaction in a few days.

The Jackal reported to Marcos to report the success of the attack and turn over the money from the sale of the stolen goods. Marcos paid him off.

Santos returned to the hacienda, vented to Genoveva, and picked up the phone.

Maria Teresa arrived at the hospital. Santos called but she said she would talk to him later. She went to her father's room. The doctor told her this had been a mild cardiac episode and that Esteban would be alright.

The workers started talking about not risking driving out. They went out into the fields. The traitor was among them.

Tierra de Esperanza 8/22/23
Episode 16: Notes; Part 2 of 2

Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest.

Maria Teresa took the next call from Santos who told her what happened and that Don Danilo wanted his money back. She told him to file a police report but he knew – as we know – that this would not help.

Adriana and Irasema left the building with Adriana satisfied at her rendezvous with Rutilio. [How dare this woman wear a cross.] Irasema asked why Rutilio would marry a woman like Norma and Adriana said she was una mujer sumisa [and we say that this man sees all women as Virgins, Mothers, or Whores]. Adriana intended to make Rutilio beg for her attentions. [We can't wait to see that.]

Maria Teresa told Nany she felt like a failure and began crying.

The workers were considering walking out with what money they had. Nobody was willing to take any risks. Bernarda took Santos' side. He explained to her why Maria Teresa was in the city and Bernarda seemed afraid, asking what was wrong.

Nany gave Maria Teresa the spiel about God not giving anyone more than they can handle. Bernarda tried calling her but got no answer. Of course Aldo was lurking at the hospital and trying to convince her to sell the ranch. Nany looked suspicious as Maria Teresa almost caved.

Marco showed up in the middle of Santos and Valentina talking about the situation. Marco called him incompetent; the others had to hold him back so he couldn't thrash him.

Aldo tried to worm his way into this and Maria Teresa said she wanted to get a bank loan.

Esteban woke up and asked about the ranch. Maria Teresa did not reveal the most recent events.

Santos changed into Trejo's office to report the crime. Trejo laughed and left his office, telling him to explain this to Clemente.

Maria Teresa told her father she was getting on better with Santos and she praised Bernarda.

Bernarda called Nany who told her that Esteban was very ill.

Val and Regina talked about the situation. Despite her hatred of Maria Teresa Valentina did not think that any of this was her fault.

Adriana and Rutilio talked about the same subject. Marco arrived and saw something.

Santos vented to Remedios about a week's work going down the drain.

Adriana and Irasema went to Don Danilo to make a deal while spreading more poison.

Maria Teresa applied for a loan only to discover that her father's credit rating was in the crapper.

Remedios saw Adriana and Irasema and called them vultures. Adriana threatened her, saying that she will soon lose her nephew.

TIERRA

Thank you for your fabulous recap Urban.

"Adriana went to see Rutilio wearing clothes 20 years too revealing for her" had me nodding in agreement. She is a very pretty woman but the outfit made her appear older and slightly seedy.

"Adriana intended to make Rutilio beg for her attentions. [We can't wait to see that.]" Yeah, count me in on that!

Bernarda may prove to be a worthy ally for Santos and Maria Teresa.

The Jackal turns my stomach.

Maria Teresa's financial situation appears to get more dire by the day.

Diana

Irma will probably blame Cecilia for stealing the letters and giving them to her (Irma's) "enemies."

Tierra

Urban, thank you for bringing us another excellent recap of all the dirty dealing .

I just watched a telenovela with the actress playing Adriana from2006. She was beautiful but played a BSC villain relentlessly pursuing the noble galan wearing a lot of low cut tops and hot pants and weird poor boy hats . wow that was awhile ago ,and she is still rocking the low cut stuff .

ETERNAMENTE

I am enjoying both this show and everyone's comments and want to thank our recapper especially, but also to you all.

I only started watching this telenovela based on the comments about it on this website (frequent lurker here, but I work shifts so it is hard for me to keep up with any series en vivo) and it is now one of the few shows I have on permanent "record" regardless of my work schedule, and I quite like it!

Thank you again for giving me a place to come to to see if I have missed anything.

Beate

Tierra #16

Thank, Beate, and Welcome.

I've read that this one is 60 episodes, so we have ways to go. While I could never live on a ranch and do that sort of work I love the horses, the decor, and particularly how large and comfortable the rooms look. The bedrooms in this type of novela look larger than my entire apartment. Please stay and write!

Susan, I first saw Marta Julia in a 2001/2 novela called Las Vias del Amor where she played the novia first of Jorge Salinas, then of Gabriel Soto. Nice work if you can get it. She is now 50 years old.

Eternamente

Thanks a bunch, Jarifa. I missed out on the party, but I can "see" it now with your detailing.

Understandable that Lucas is acting out, but being manipulated by Imelda is colmo. There isn't a loving/compassionate bone in her body. Any kid can see she's not to be trusted.

I like the skeptical look the kids clothes shopkeeper gave Imelda. Got my fingers crossed that Imelda's "Karen" blowup goes viral.

Fernando asked Imelda why she married him, but honestly he's got to ask himself why he married her. IIRC, he was trying to compete with Rogelio.

Welcome, Beate!

Tierra

Thanks, Urban, that was excellent. I hate when Marco shows up and blames Santos when he is the reason for the problems. I’m anxious for them all to realize this!

I wonder if Adriana and Irasema are going to sell Don Danilo the stolen produce. I can’t imagine them stooping so low as to sell for their own ranch. I thought Irasema was a maid but guess she’s a friend.

It seems like a lot of people at the ranch know Esteban. You’d think they’d want to help Maria Teresa. The townspeople probably know him too. I hope he gets to go to the ranch. Maybe that would soften some of the town folks.

Aldo is going to keep after Maria Teresa to sell. And I’m sure Marco will convince her it’s not worth anything and buy it cheap. Or try to!

Liz

Eternamente #54/55

Niecie,
your comment about Fernando is so spot-on. He was taking Rogelio's leavings.

Imelda's manipulation of Lucas is a precursor of what she could or will do to her own child.

ETERNAMENTE

Welcome, Beate. Don’t be a stranger! We are a friendly bunch.

Niecie, if only that video goes viral. Just think of Martina with the public scandal it would start. I have to admit that could be entertaining. ; )

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #56/57 PAGE ONE

Notes from my comfy couch . . .

How much more can they stuff not two episodes?

MARTINA/IRMA/IGNACIO Martina threatens to tell Ignacio the truth about his lying mother as she shows Irma the letter. Martina says Irma needs to convince Ignacio to return his shares and then leave Morelia forever in return for her silence. Martina closes the gate in her face. Irma tells Ignacio that she doesn't want to fight the Iturbides anymore. Having the last name is not enough for Ignacio. Ignacio is enjoying himself and wants justice.

IGNACIO/CECILIA Irma shows up at the music school telling Cecilia that she has to stop Ignacio from going after the Iturbides because they want to kill him. Cecilia tells Ignacio what she said and how incoherent his mother has become She suggests that she may do better hospitalized. Ignacio goes berserk and Cecilia does her best to avoid being hit. She tells him that it is over. She cannot take his violence any more. She leaves. He cries.

IGNACIO/THERAPIST Ignacio runs to the therapist he just quit. She wants to leave his rage issue to teh side and look at his situation in a different way. It comes out that his step father beat him and his mother for years. He was very afraid of him. He admits to having killed him when one day he decided he was not going to take it anymore. He picked up the closest thing at hand which was a knife and he stabbed him. He got a light sentence because the judge saw it as self-defense. HIs step father made him into the monster he is. His therapist insists he is not a monster and talks about the circle of violence he grew up in and now is replicating. He blames his situation as a child on the Iturbides.

IMELDA/VIDEO One of Martina's friends sends the video to her. She tells Imelda off showing her the viral video entitled "Lady Cornuda" (Lady "she who has been cheated on") Martina is mortified. Imelda's own mother doesn't support her. Martina invites the members of the foundation over to get their support in the video situation and says somebody made it up. Rogelio calls Regino a journalist for help. Regino wants Fernando and Imelda to do a TV interview. Imelda apologizes to him. She wants her marriage. He still wants a divorce. Imelda and Fernando end up doing a "happy family" video to keep up appearances and resuscitate the family name. Imelda says the woman on the video isn't her. It was simply a vile computer creation. They love each other! Martina tells Fernando that now is not the time for a divorce. He needs to let it all cool down. Martina warns Imelda that this is the last time her family will go out on a limb to save her reputation. Imelda says that is not fair since she was not the one cheating. Martina asks where is the proof? After Fernando does not come home that night, Imelda goes to spend a few days with her family. Her father says he will help her out. She ends up with a private detective in her employ. She says she wants 24/7 surveillance of Fernando and Ximena.

FERNANDO/XIMENA Fernando tells Ximena that he is sorry but he cannot get a divorce right now because of the PR nightmare the family is in. She saw the happy family video and is not happy but it looks like they end up getting busy anyway.

ETERNAMENTE PAGE TWO

EVA/FIDEL Fidel finally gets to talk to Martina about his marriage to Eva. He feels a certain connection with her since it was she and the foundation that helped him as an orphan. Martina thinks he needs to know about the necklace that Eva stole from her. Fidel is flabbergasted. He confronts Eva who admits to it and tries to explain everything. He is not convinced. He wonders why she didn't tell him about the incident. What else doesn't he know about her? The engagement is off. Eva is left crying and telling her baby how they are going to miss its father. Fidel sits with the engagement ring asking how could she??

XIMENA's brother has found her because she opens up her door without knowing who is on the other side. She tries calling Fernando but he is out drinking and doesn't answer. Her brother chokes her and roughs her up. He tells her that if she wants her lover to be safe, she needs to give him the money he wants.

ROGELIO/PAULA/LUCAS/ IMELDA The night before she leaves for her parents' house, Imelda gets into it with Rogelio. Paula is there and Martina is watching. She blames Paula for everything that is going on in the house. Rogelio tells Lucas to go to his room so as to not to hear the argument. Imelda tells him to stay so that he can hear all about that dirty snake of a step . . . Paula backhands her hard across the mouth and goes upstairs. Martina tells Imelda that she cannot believe what she just heard. She will not permit her attacking Paula in her house. The surprised look on Rogelio's face looks like that is news to him. Martina now knows why Lucas feels like he does about Paula. Rogelio admits to Lucas that Paula never knew anything about Erika and then Erika came back. He hid it from Paula. Paula tells Rogelio she feels guilty for having slapped Imelda. Rogelio says she asked for it. What he found surprising was how his mother supported Paula. Paula can't give a good answer.

LUCAS tells his aunt Patty that he wants to go Iive with her. He isn't happy about Paula having a baby.

MARTINA/GABRIEL/VANESSA/ ANDREA Just as Martina is trying to get comfortable with her romance with Gabriel before announcing it to her family, a mystery woman appears and she sees him giving her a peck in the morning as she leaves. Martina doesn't know that Marco is spying her. When he asks what is going on with Gabriel , she tells him it is none of his business and reminds him about his getting married without telling them. Martina confronts Gabriel about the woman. He explains that she is Vanessa, Andrea's mother who is in town on business for a few days. Martina is not happy with them sleeping in the same house. Gabriel offers to take Martina to the beach for a few days.

FELIPA/MELITÓN think that they are finally on vacation at Honorio's place but are run off by a gang of squatters. Honorio goes later himself and the same gang beat him until his nephew, who is a member of the gang, calls them off. He asks Honorio not to ge the police involved. Honorio says he won't but he will be back to talk about teh law.

LUIS/ANDREA The romance continues.

BUSINESS Rogelio, Fernando, Ignacio, Luis and Axel (?) meet at the company. Rogelio thinks that since the Iturbide company wants to expand their routes in Latin America, it would be a good idea to use vehicles from his company. Rogelio will not vote for it until they do an analysis of the proposal and neither will Luis and Fernando. Ignacio can't really say anything.

ETERNAMENTE PAGE THREE

PAULA/ULISES/ROGELIO Paula spent the day with Lucas in his room watching her school's orchestra perform in another town. Ulises is there with them. They end up winning an award. Paula goes over to Eva's and meets up with Cecilia to talk about it. Rogelio comes home and Paula isn't there. Lucas mentions how well the orchestra did and how Paula was in communication with them and Ulises all daylong and then went to Eva's. Paula gets home and she gets a text. She ignores it but Rogelio wants her to answer it. She tells him to answer it. It is from Ulises talking about the great job the orchestra did. He ends up complimenting her and professing his love for her. Rogelio is not a happy camper.

Please feel free to add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, your descriptive and complete details were marvelous. I hung on every well written word; you hit all the highlights and lowlights masterfully.

” Imelda and Fernando end up doing a "happy family" video to keep up appearances and resuscitate the family name” captured the essence of that scene to perfection. I thought Imelda had shredded the last vestiges of dignity Fernando had but apparently that dubious honor belongs to Martina.

“Imelda says the woman on the video isn't her. It was simply a vile computer creation”. AI (perhaps deservedly so) has been vilified for its all too human like results but Imelda’s crazed assault was all too real, not Memorex!

Irma is trapped like a rat due to her own machinations and lies. The first time she or Ignacio was hit, she should have left. No wonder Ignacio is such a tortured soul. I’m not excusing any of his actions though and Cecelia should run as if her life depends on it, which it well might.

Fidel, man up dude! Eva made a mistake. It’s not the end of the world. Stop mewling. Stiff upper lip and all that.

“Martina tells Imelda that she cannot believe what she just heard. She will not permit her attacking Paula in her house. The surprised look on Rogelio's face looks like that is news to him”. Is he bright enough to realize there must be a reason for the sudden change of heart? The jury is still out.

I’m happy things are going smoothly for Luis and Andrea and Marco and Blanca. At least for the moment.

Felipa and Meliton couldn’t even get a nice day/night away…

Rogelio having a tantrum and throwing Paula’s phone was churlish and childish. I just cannot warm up to him. Such an entitled, spoiled brat.

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Thanks, Diana. I was also surprised how quickly Fidel broke up with Eva but, hey, this is all about the drama. What I am still wondering is what for/why Eva owed all that money anyway to the mafioso. We know very little about her and I am still waiting for a more detailed accounting of her past. That gang of squatters was really creepy. Poor Honorio having to deal with them when he thought he had inherited something that would be of benefit to him. If I were him, I would sell the property off right from under them.Vanessa looked quite a bit younger than Gabriel, I wonder what that story was. Yes, Ignacio is a “tortured soul”. Will he survive?

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, yes we only know bits and pieces about Eva and I am also interested in what she was involved in.

Everyone wants Martina's approval but she never gives it does she? It seemed so important to Fidel. He better come to his senses. And quickly.

Honorio was courageous and/or foolish trying to take on the gang of thugs. If his nephew wasn't there he might have gotten very badly hurt.

Vanessa is trouble I'm sure...

I don't know if Ignacio can ever be redeemed or if he will come out of this alive...

Diana

eternamente
I wonder if Irma would have thought of something better if she was mentally stable. But then Martina is no better. She doesn't care about being fair and telling the truth. She is nice to Paula out of fear but goes and tells Fidel things that it was not up to her to tell. I don't understand why she did it. It felt as though I were watching an older version of Imelda. The difference is that her kids love her and will continue to do so whereas she gets to be horrible to people and again direct her sons' lives as if she were directing a movie. She tells Fernando it's a bad time for divorce, but I wonder if she would be against the idea as such in general and this is just an excuse to buy time. Unless the scandal made her reconsider. But it's still astonishing to me she has so many people who value her when she is such a mean person. Fidel wanted her approval andshe took the opportunity to tell him something she knew would hurt his feelings.
Rogelio's jealousy makes me want to throw something at him. Throughout the story he remains an entitled brat. And it is only now the man is talking to his son about his own mistakes. He should have made it clear to Lucas Paula would never aim to take his mother's place because this was a huge part of Lucas' suffering. Imelda just made things worse. I can't believe Paula was naive enough to think with time things would improve when they have a manipulator on the loose.
Did they provide no therapy in prison? Ignacio seemed to think it was wrong to defend himself against a violent man. I feel really sorry for him. Cecilia is the first person in his life who tries to understand him and to help. Hisown mother is a selfish woman who cared first about herself. which is so tragic. You have a child, mess-up ttheir life and they are left to clean up the mess you made.
Imelda makes me laugh because her stupidity is really infinate. She doesn't use her brain much apparently. But poor Ava has her for a mother. A repeat of Irma's situation is what I see in the future. I really don't want Imelda to be redeemed because she doesn't want it either.
What if Ximena got pregnant?

Eternamente #56/57

Gracias, Jarifa.

I think that Martina is the deadlier one in comparison with Imelda. She spent most of her adult life hiding her true feelings and rages so that she appears to never lose her cool. Imelda lets it all out and gets violent. Both of them married without love for their husbands but Martina did not have to face a rival and especially daily under the same roof. I find it hard to believe that Martina was ignorant of her husband's infidelity for 30 years, but she is a person who will avoid what she doesn't want to know.

Having said that I have to applaud her brilliant blackmail move against Irma. However, it won't work until Ignacio knows the truth and maybe not even then. Martina hasn't seen much of Irma recently and doesn't see how unhinged she's become. Ignacio doesn't want to face that, which became even more obvious last night when he chased Cecelia around that dining table. I'm sure he will do that to Irma when he sees that letter; this secret is too big to stay buried.

I'm kicking myself for not having figured out that Ignacio killed his stepfather, but this is the first time we've heard anything about what took him out of their lives. I wonder why Ignacio did time at all if any judge saw this as self-defense.

We can't be sure that he would give up his revenge plan even when he learns the truth. he might still resent his half-brothers and continue to blame them for his own situation, which is evidence of delusion as they were ignorant of his existence. The way he behaved during that board meeting is evidence of an attempt to sabotage his brothers.

So, we are now close to the hump (60/61) and anything can still happen.

More later.

Eternamente

Jarifa, thank you for another outstanding summary of this bubbling brew .

Uh oh, I think we should fasten our seatbelts because I saw the actress playing Vanessa in Azteca's " Siempre Tuya Acapulca" , and she was one of The nastiest, craziest villains that I have ever seen....like Imelda x 10. The actress playing Felipa was the comic relief in that show .

I kept looking at the actress playing the psychiatrist?\ counselor . I think she was the quirky, funny Madame of the brothel in "Alborada."

Poor Ximena has to deal with two violent , unstable people...her brother and Imelda .

I am fascinated by all the metal doors and gates.

Lots of tantrum and phone throwing . Yikes.

Ceci, Paula , and Eva commiserating together . That's what friends do. ..comfort and advise each other

Eternamente #56/57

I don't think that Rogelio is spoiled but he definitely is carrying the burden of being the Golden Child. He feels obligated to pleased his narcissistic mother but I think part of that was not having had many serious relationships with women. I could easily see her disapproving of his earliest girlfriends, him taking refuge in work, and so Erica and Paula were the only intense romantic relationships he's ever had and he's no kid. There is a vestige of outdated values from Martina about married women not having male friends outside the faaaaaamily which adds to the issue of Paula not coming from the same social class which he has never held against her.

At least everyone now knows about Imelda was poisoning Lucas' mind against Paula. It could take until the 75% mark for that to be resolved.

I totally agree that Ximena should not get pregnant. Neither should Blanca or Cecelia.

If Vanessa becomes trouble that would effectively distract Martina.

Tierra de Esperanza 8/22/23
Episode 17: Notes

Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Will end if there is insufficient interest or no assistance.

Remedios told Adriana she was not afraid of her someday she would pay for all she's done. Irasema called her a witch and Remedios did not disagree. [I like her more and more every episode.]

Norma tried to pass the poison to Clemente who is not accepting it.

Adriana and Irasema argued a little on the way back and Adriana is determined to get back at Remedios.

Santos tried to reach Maria Teresa and could not. Cris calmed him down and they headed off to work.

Remedios told Don Danilo off, but he was brainwashed against Maria Teresa.

Santos was wondering how to pay Don Danilo back. Valentina tried to make him feel better including a kiss which he did not resist but did not escalate into an embrace.

Maria Teresa visited Esteban who seemed better. She still kept the worst information from him.

Aldo talked with Armando [must be an accomplice] and Victor's name came up.

Santos, Cris, and Valentina talked about the milk cows and increasing that part of the business. Santos said that their cows were at max production.

Maria Teresa called home, telling Genoveva to have Santos call her.

Remedios came back to tell Santos she paid Don Danilo. Santos promised to pay her back.

Maria Teresa called an old friend/classmate named Fabiola to meet about a possible business deal. They agreed to meet the next day.

Clemente tried to get Trejo to let him help, but he repeatedly declined. Finally Clemente took a cell phone off the desk and we see that Trejo was playing solitaire on his computer.

Santos told Genoveva that Don Danilo had been paid. Santos called Maria Teresa from inside the house. She told him about the new deal meeting and that he needed to come to Mexico City ASAP for that.

Regina wrote a note and left it for Clemente. She had to lie and cover this up so Bernarda would not find out.

Santos admitted he had a fear of flyiing; Cris said he had to get over it.

Maria Teresa saw Aldo and told him she had a meeting the next day. He became petulant about this when she told him that Santos would be there. He accused her of hanky-panky and she became angry, saying that their relationship had issues.

Clemente wanted to talk to Maria Teresa but ended up talking to Santos abut borrowing a horse. He later picked up the note from Regina. Santos talked with Bernarda and told him he had to go to Mexico City about a deal. Valenina tried to tag along but Bernarda put the kibosh on that.

Adriana enlisted one of her minions in her scheme and showed herself to be an autocratic bitch.

Valentina and Bernarda clashed again.

Marco discussed a deal with Garibaldi which sounds either like prostitution or trafficking. Decision and plans pending.

Bernarda asked Santos to find out what he could about Esteban's health. He agreed to and asked her to take charge of the ranch in his absence.

Maria Teresa accused Aldo of not trusting her.

Santos stopped to see Remedios before leaving to get things he needed.

Clemente put Regina's not in his journal.

The unholy trio got together to discuss Garibaldi's deal.

Santos gave Cris instructions; Valentina interrupted with the usual motive.

Santos was nervous as he boarded the plane, which he admitted to the stewardess. She showed him to his seat, fastened the belt, and tried to assure him all was well. When the announcement about turbulence came he rang for the stewardess who brought him a drink.

Esteban went home and Maria Teresa told him she was going to the airport to get Santos. Aldo followed her and Esteban looked suspicious.

Marco confronted Adriana about the deal she made without him. [He still doesn't know she is playing him.]

Maria Teresa met Santos at the airport. He was still nervous. She hugged him. Aldo saw this and had a conniption.

ETERNAMENTE

Thanks all for stopping by with our commentary. Boy, do have a lot to comment on today.

NO SPOILERS HERE BUT, waterlily, I think we share our dislike with the overused "Oops! I got pregnant?" trope but i sincerely feel and predict that every female capable of having a baby will have had one or be pregnant by the end of this. What better drama than Felipa finally getting pregnant when she has given up trying? or, Ceciia getting pregnant by an abuser when she left too late? I thinks that Blanca is a given.

Urban, "I don't think that Rogelio is spoiled but he definitely is carrying the burden of being the Golden Child. He feels obligated to pleased his narcissistic mother but I think part of that was not having had many serious relationships with women." ITA. In my case, I like Rogelio since I am far past the time thinking that a leading man will make my heart go pitter patter. He is between a rock and hard place.

That being said I have PLENTY of criticism for Paula. She knows that Ulises and his presence drives Rogelio crazy much as she was jealous of Erika. The difference is that Rogelio couldn't cut Erika off since she was the mother of his son. It is hard to believe that knowing what pressures Rogelio is under, them both knowing that Ulises is interested in no innocent friendship, and them being in a complicated newly wed situation under Martina's watchful gaze, why she would choose this to be the mountain to die on. She should have told Ulises to go packing a looong time ago.

Susan, "Poor Ximena has to deal with two violent , unstable people...her brother and Imelda . " What a life! She deserves embody wit less baggage than Fernando but you do have the feeling they will be end game. Funny that Alejandra Ley (Felipa) and Cecilia Ponce (Vanessa) ends up working together again. BTW, Cecilia Ponce is 41 and her daughter (Julia Urbini) is 27. LOL

HMMMM . . . I read online that it is not uncommon for gangs to illegally seize properties in Mexico since many of them do not have any legal documents proving ownership by somebody else. Is the will and resultant title going to make any difference to that gang? Is that why Honorio was willing to reach some sort of accommodation in the first place with the gang? Interesting.

TIERRA

Urban, thank you for the fantastic recap.

"Marco confronted Adriana about the deal she made without him. [He still doesn't know she is playing him]" is surprising but quite satisfying. Marco isn't quite the all seeing all knowing badass he gives himself credit for.

Maria Teresa seems to be getting to the point of having had it with Aldo. I hope she breaks it off quickly and completely.

Bernarda is very interested in how Esteban is doing. Is it genuine care and concern, worry about the ranch folding, something else or a bit of each?

I really enjoyed Santos' not so excellent travel adventure. A fish out of water doesn't begin to describe it. I thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head during the airplane "turbulence"! He and Maria Teresa are already falling in love. That said, he has to put a stop to Valentina's following him around like a puppy and kissing him every chance she gets. Push her away and just say no...

Thanks, Jarifa, you fill us in on everything that happens. I appreciate that.

The best scene was Paula slapping Imelda. I knew she was insulting Paula but didn’t know what she was saying. I was afraid she’d slap back but glad she didn’t.

Ximena should have called the police on her brother. And get a restraining order. I hope Fernando will stay away from her for a while. Especially with a private detective following them.

Fernando is still too trusting of Ignacio. And Ignacio is the cause of all his problems. Ignacio must be going after the weakest link!

I hope Cecilia has left him for good. She knows how he just wants to hurt the family. And am I right that he plans to live in the mansion with his mother. To get even with a family that never knew of his existence. That’s pretty sick.

I loved the video too. So glad it went viral.

Martina just wanted to control Fidel and hurt Eva. There was no reason to tell Fidel that. Pure meanness.

Paula told Ulises that she loved her husband. He knows she’s pregnant. The voicemail is completely on him. I hope Paula fires him. But Rogelio throwing her phone was childish.

Urban, your recaps are invaluable. Without them I would miss so many nuances in the TN. I have a couple of questions which I hope someone can explain.

Why did Santos owe Don Donilo anything? for what purpose? I guess that part of the story went right over my head.

Also, I am puzzled by Adrianna/ I know she is Marcos' madrastra, but how is she playing him? I thought she and Marcos were in sync in undermining Maria Theresa.

I enjoyed the scene with Santos on the plane and being nervous and afraid. It seemed to contradict his tough brave side.

In this TN, I really love the scenery and the animals.

I am also intrigued by Adrianna and he sidekick Irasema.

Lester

Eternamente #56/57

I agree that the voicemail is all on Ulises. Paula will probably have to fire and block him or she will have no peace about this. Also, she, Lucas, and Rogelio should move.

Ximena should leave the country. That crazy brother looks scarier than Ted Bundy and he would only laugh at a restraining order. I suspect he's a drug addict.

Tierra #17

Don Danilo paid in advance for the stuff in the stolen truck. We don't know who The Jackal sold the goods to (and probably also the stolen truck).

Adriana and Marco jointly inherited the property but she wanted it all. Marco's father probably was about to change his will when she killed him and spread the rumor that Santos killed him.

As far as I could observe Irasema is the ama de llaves in that household. It is probable that she is related to Adriana; I've seen that before.

Tierra

Thanks Urban, your notes are so much more than notes, and always appreciated.

I loved the airplane flight. A nice break from all the drama. Guess Aldo will start in on Santos again. But there’s no comparison between the two of them. Aldo is a stuck-up creep.

How long has the husband/father of Adriana and Marco been dead? Marco was not happy with her using the men to sell the crop. I wonder if this is the first time she’s participated in ranch work. I would have thought they’d have worked something out by now.

I really like Remedios. I like Bernarda too, although she is way to strict with the girls and is not giving them a healthy view of men. And if she likes Marco she’s not a good judge of character.

Lester, the ranch owed Don Danilo because he paid an advance or something so Maria Teresa would bring all her produce to him to sell. Then they had it all stolen and couldn’t deliver. I don’t know the answer to what she is doing to “play him”.

Liz

ETERNAMENTE

Liz, you and me both loving that slap and then the way Paula just calmly went upstairs expressionless. I would guess that Martina also appreciated that slap. Ximena does have a restraining order against her brother but doesn't want to call the police. That gets a big DUH! from me. "Fernando is still too trusting of Ignacio. And Ignacio is the cause of all his problems. Ignacio must be going after the weakest link" You called it and I agree. Fernando is gullible.

Tierra
Urban thanks for your explanations, they really help. Now I understand about Don Donilo

"Adriana and Marco jointly inherited the property but she wanted it all. Marco's father probably was about to change his will when she killed him and spread the rumor that Santos killed him."

Urban, that makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much.

I will also try to focus in on Adrianna ans Irasema, la ama de las llaves. Urban, your explanations make this TN even more enjoyable.

O/T

Today is Pablo Montero's birthday. I can't believe he's 49.

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa. I'm late to the party, but I'm enjoying your super recap just before the new epi starts.

Wondering how Horacio will resolve the issue of a gang controlling his inherited land. Would Martina or Rogelio help him?

Yay, great slap by Paula, and Cecilia finally ditches Ignacio.

Disappointed in Fidel. Honestly, he's involved with an older woman and should understand she had a life before him. Has he always been strictly aboveboard? I doubt it since he's always done Martina's bidding.

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #58 Page One

Highlights from the couch . . .

Yay! Only one episode tonight!

BUSINESS Fernando tries to do a "gotcha" on Rogelio in Martina's presence. Yes, Martina gets the notes of all of the meetings at the company but did she know that Rogelio is planning on getting into air travel in South America but is going to form a company of his own to do it? Rogelio says he has his reasons. An argument breaks out. Martina and Paula agree that business does not belong at the table but at the office.

Marco meets with his boss and a possible investor. The investor is interested and ready to put a lot of money in the business but he has two conditions. He is to be the only outside investor. He wants 80% of the net profits. Marco turns him down.

PAULA/ ROGELIO Paula and Rogelio are both still aggravated by the Ulises text. Neither condones it. She says she has done nothing to not be trusted. We find out later that there is the possibility that Ulises might soon be out of everybody's hair since a teacher from Paula's old school asks her if they can hire Ulises to teach some classes for them. Paula says sure! Rogelio is still wondering what is going on with Paula and his mother being on such good terms and so quickly.

EVA/FIDEL Eva asks Fidel to come over. She has something to confess. She has never told anyone. Paula's parents didn't die in an accident. Eva had gotten in with the wrong people and owed them money. She couldn't pay so Paula's parents paid with their lives. She fled taking Paula with her. They found her in Morelia. That is why she stole the necklace and then took a loan from Martina to get them off her back. She asks Fidel to never tell anyone because Paula is her only family. She hates that she is going to pay for it all again with her relationship with him. Fidel make sit clear that he isn't going anywhere. He will dedicate himself to protecting and taking care of her and the baby.

GABRIEL/MARTINA Martina is jealous of Vanessa staying at Gabriel's. He plans time for them at a cabin. Gabriel professes his love for her. Ignacio sees Martina and Gabriel going to a cabin together. Later, he visits Gabriel and says that he saw something that makes him wonder if Gabriel was playing both sides against the other when he was in his employ. He managed to get close to Martina. Ignacio claps. That would make Gabriel smart but not as smart as him.

HONORIO There is no clear path for Honorio to get his land back because he has family members living in the area (mainly women and children) whose husbands are working in the USA. He would put them into jeopardy if he went the police/legal route. Also, the people who took over the land are victims themselves. They were thrown off of their own land by criminals. What to do? He wants to help them all.

ANDREA/LUIS Andrea proposes to Luis and he says yes. Martina cannot get over a woman doing the asking!!! but does agree to have Gabriel, Andrea and Vanessa over for the proposal/engagement dinner.

IMELDA The detective shows Imelda photos of Fernando and Ximena. He tells her that Ximena has a mother and a brother who just got out of jail. Imelda pays the detective more money to put her in contact with the brother that same day. She meets with the brother and pays him to make sure that Ximena is never with her husband again.

ETERNAMENTE Page Two

XIMENA is visited again by her brother Claudio who tells her that since she didn't pay up and is still going out with her rich boyfriend, he is going to carry out his threat to make her disappear. She talks to her mother who suggests that she get a room mate (rather than call the police???) From the stress of the conversation, her mother gets lightheaded from her high blood pressure. Ximena tells Fernando that she is going to go and stay with her mother for a few days since she is not doing well.

CECILIA Cecilia is still upset by Ignacio's violence. A teacher from Paula's old school who acted to oust the perv of a principal tries to talk sense to her about being battered but Cecilia is sure she can control Ignacio and the situation. He would never hurt her. (has she forgotten her black and blue arms???) Cecilia and Paula never seem to find time to talk by themselves.

IGNACIO/IRMA Irma tries again to dissuade Ignacio from his revenge on the Iturbides. She is unsuccessful. He tells her about Gabriel and Martina seeing each other at this cabin. It is at the entrance to the Santa Ana Forest. Irma looks like she knows where that is.

Ignacio gets a call from a mystery woman saying they need to meet to iron out the details. At the end of the episode, Ignacio is in Mexico City talking to the mystery woman who has been supporting him all the way. Money is no problem.Ignacio tells her that all is going well and all he has to do is wait for the airline to become operational and it is done. Fernando trusts Fernando and that is also going to work very well for them. They have to get him to be the one who confronts Rogelio and does all of the dirty work. The woman wants Ignacio to make sure it happens just that way. They toast to the fall of the Iturbides.

EVERYTHING ELSE

There will be a stag party for Fidel.

Lucas has a great day at the fair with his friends AND Paula.

Imelda moves back to Villa Morelia but doesn't quit playing the victim.

Vanessa tries to "compliment" Martina on her house and calls it a mausoleum before settling on museum. (okay . . .)

Please add whatever I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

A very satisfying episode.

What a story Eva had to tell! I never expected it to be that bad.

Also, Honorio’s story had a very interesting twist. He wants to help them all.

Then, of course, there was Ignacio and his mystery partner.

Just one of these plots would have made me happy in this episode but the writers gave us three along with everything else from Andrea’s proposal to Martina going to the cabin with Gabriel.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, thank you for your superb recap that filled in my many blanks.

Imelda is moving at lightning speed to "remove" Ximena from their lives. Ximena is in deep peril as Claudio is pure evil; I shudder to think what he is going to do. Yes, Ximena should be running to the police, not hiding in plain sight at her mother's.

I was relieved Ignacio accidentally saw Martina and Gabriel together as I've been afraid Cecelia would somehow spill the beans and admit it was Paula who told her. Guess this cat is already out of the bag. Irma's reaction seemed as though something was percolating in her feverish brain and it's nothing good, I'm sure.

Andrea didn't waste any time did she? Good for her.

I'm happy Fidel and Eva reconciled. It was shocking learning Paula's parents were murdered because Eva couldn't pay back her debt. How horrible...I wonder if this is another damning revelation that will rear its ugly head at some point?

"Vanessa tries to "compliment" Martina on her house and calls it a mausoleum before settling on museum. (okay . . .)" had me smiling away. I admit I enjoyed that scene and hope that Martina was uncomfortable even though she seemed cool as a cucumber.

I bet the stag party is going to be fun! :)

So who is the mystery woman???

Jarifa, thank you for a great recap as our story adds some new people and the old ones keep spinning out their storylines .

It' s funny seeing the actress playing Vanessa suddenly show up.Watching her climb intoGabriel's bed in tbs lack teddy brought back memories of her bad girl role as Daniel Elbittar's wife in " Siempre Tuya Acapulca." She was over the top crazy evil . I guess we will see more actors from Azteca show up in Televisa shows . I would love to see Mauricio Islas .

Imelda is a vindictive, cold hearted witch . I feel sorry for that poor little bebe. Poor Ximena is in danger .

Yay, Fidel. He is acting like a galan.

OT. I watched a long trailer for " Minas" . It looks good , and there are familiar faces and many I have never seen. A

Thanks, Jarifa, a great read. And I had time to read it tonight. That one hour sure packed a lot of drama into it.

I still think Rogelio acted like a kid having a temper tantrum. They should put a couch in that office as two of the brothers have slept in the chair! But I’m glad he didn’t stay mad at Paula and glad Ulises may be leaving the school. I missed that entirely!

I think Imelda is more dangerous than Martina. Martina is cruel with her words but it seems like Imelda hired the brother to get rid of Ximena.

So Ignacio has been funded by someone all along. I thought he was out to ruin the brothers but I think his plans are even more evil than that.

Poor Eva. I wonder how old Paula was when all this happened. Young enough to not remember, it seems. I’m glad Eva and Fidel are a couple again. I hope they will go back to being a fun relief from the heavy drama.

Liz

Susan, Siempre Tuyo Acapulco was a fun telenovela, wasn't it?
Didn't her character wind up guillotining herself in the end? I think her name in that one was Iran.
It also featured another cherished telenovela trope- the evil, insane serial killer Aunt, played by leading actress Gabriela Roel.
And Daniel Elbittar was at his most gorgeous, even for him (I am so glad he is now at Televisa!)
I remember finding it immensely entertaining.

I'm with Liz on the Rogelio issue. I wonder what it says about me that a man like him just makes me angry. If all mama's boys are like that, I'd rather stay single for the rest of my life. Rogelio just gets mad at Paula and she has to find a way to defuse the situation. Lucas is a child and one child is more than enough. I think what bothers me about this relationship is that it's not equal. Paula tries to control her jealousy, Rogelio explodes. Paula gives him trust in advance whereas Rogelio always doubted her. I found it far easier to believe Fernando loved Imelda when that Rogelio loved Paula. He was absolutely horrible to her after he found her. He, just like Martina with that whole 'you weren't the only one who were sad the baby died' speech, focused on his own feelings rather than caring his lies hurt Paula. I remember disliking that bit in particular as nracisists are often acused of this sort of thing. Doubt Rogelio is one but it's still insufferable.
I find it now a bit ridiculous Paula just happens to agree with Martina. I am guessing it's not meant to be deliberate, but it just reminds me of Imelda's behaviour.
Honorio's actions are nice and all, but I find it a bit unsatisfying they go for this angle. Those man could have killed Honorio and then the police would have been involved. The whole they turned to criminality because other criminals threw them out of their lands thing is a bit...So one side is evil and the other isn't? Or as his relatives are involved in this case, he is willing to help? Is the situation really that bad there that those people really chose the only option available to them or did they choose the easiest one?
I wonder if Fidel would have tried to talk to Eva if she hadn't called him. This drama was a bit ridiculous. I like good quality drama.

Liz, I think you are right. They need to put a sofa in that office . I got a giggie out of Rog using it as his bed. That alone should push him to making up with Paula ...getting back to their comfy bed . Hey , dude, you married a beautiful woman. Other men are going to find her attractive . She can't help that . She loves you and is having your baby . These shows always need reasons to pull the main couple apart. Since the writers killed off Erika , they needed to make Rogelio jealous of poor, pining Ulises. The writers seem to want to show us some toxic masculinity with Rog's jealousy and Igy's violent nature. PSA, run away from these guys is always the best advise. I can't imagine what it would be like to be around guys like that.

The writers have now introduced a new mystery character who is in cahoots with Igy. Wow, pink feathers and long , painted fingernails. Intriguing . Did we hear him \her speak? I can't remember . The writers are clever not letting us see this new character and make us guess who it is.

OT....Anonymous, yes, "Siempre Tuyu Acapulca" was a very wild ride . i fear for Gabriel surviving if Vanessa is anything like the Iran character . The two young guys barely survived her in " Siempre." Daniel was gorgeous in that show, but I have now seen him younger than that and older and always gorgeous. The more I find out about this actor the more I like him. He is multi talented and has a sense of humor . i think his singing and dancing talents are evident in his acting and vice versa. He is that handsome guy who doesnt take himself too seriously. He also seems very comfortable in his body and seems to love life. I think his skill in acting has to do with totally believing in and immersing himself in whatever his role is and being present in each moment and therefore making us believe his words , his Love, his hate, his anger, his despair. He is always there in every scene listening , thinking whether or not he is spesking. I think that is his secret formula and has been since he started in telenovelas as a young guy of 20 (?) Can't wait to see if Televisa realizes the treasure he is and casts him in a new show .

Diana, YES! (again) "Yes, Ximena should be running to the police, not hiding in plain sight at her mother's." What good is the order of protection that they have if they are not going to enforce it? It isn't as if he isn't threatening to kill Ximena. 'It was shocking learning Paula's parents were murdered because Eva couldn't pay back her debt. How horrible." I NEVER expected something so vile as a familial execution in this novela. I ITA that the stag party could be fun. Hope we get some party action time aka nothing really happening time aka nothing I have to write about time. LOL Looks like we are getting an entirely new character with the mystery woman. I am up for it! I admit I am researching what actor it could be.

Susan, "Yay, Fidel. He is acting like a galan." You can say that again. Looks like he will be the only traditional galán. The only other one who could fit that bill of a traditional galán if he were older would be Marco.

Liz, "They should put a couch in that office as two of the brothers have slept in the chair! " made me laugh this morning. So true!
"I’m glad Eva and Fidel are a couple again. I hope they will go back to being a fun relief from the heavy drama." Me, too. We need that. Between Paula's parents being killed and Honorio being beaten up on his own land, things have been way too depressing.

waterlily, "Honorio's actions are nice and all, but I find it a bit unsatisfying they go for this angle." ITA I found it odd that he was willing to negotiate about the men staying on his property as soon as he arrived even before they threatened him. Really? " I wonder if Fidel would have tried to talk to Eva if she hadn't called him." Me, too, but then again we had to get Eva's back story some how some way.

Eternamente #58

Gracias, Jarifa. Lots of action last night!

Vanessa is disgusting. It very much feels like she didn't really want to seduce Gabriel as much as make his life miserable by causing problems for him and for Andrea who seems more than a little displeased with her presence. Is it too much to hope that all these toxic bitches will take each other out at the end?

I don't like Honorio's situation. Something tells me he will lose everything and end up remaining a servant for the rest of his life.

Imelda has finally hit rock-bottom: Paying a violent man to possibly kill his own sister. Who is worse of those two?

I think Rogelio is looking to build a business solely in his name against the disaster he has predicted Ignacio will cause with the family company but -- horribly -- Ignacio seems to be a step ahead. He needs to rot in hell.

ETERNAMENTE

Urban, BINGO "I think Rogelio is looking to build a business solely in his name against the disaster he has predicted Ignacio will cause with the family company but -- horribly -- Ignacio seems to be a step ahead." I think you have nailed it. How could Rogelio tell anybody in his family about that with Fernando being Ignacio's puppet and Marco being plain old naive? "Is it too much to hope that all these toxic bitches will take each other out at the end?" If only . . .

Thank you Jarifa! Your recaps are entertaining, informative and fantastic! I definitely would have stopped watching a long time ago without your recaps because 2 hours a night is just too much for me and I need you to tell me what I miss when my mind wanders!

Great comments by everyone. I am in a hurry today so I can't say much but I did want to ask, is there some sort of 'You must get engaged by the 3rd date rule in Morelia?' These engagements are coming as fast as the pregnancies....it's crazy!

Tierra

Thanks Urban!! I am behind on Tierra but I will catch up today and comment again after work!

ETERNAMENTE

I've enjoyed everyone's comments.

Jarifa, I think I'm going to see if I can find out who the woman of mystery might be too!

I've been thinking about the bachelor party.

Someone posted here that Alfredo Gatica (Fidel) is on OnlyFans...I am hoping the writers use this opportunity to have Fidel cutting loose, showing us some (tasteful) 😊 dance moves. This could be a lot of fun!

Diana

Ever name he

Darcy, yes, these brothers are pretty fast workers ...find a girl, take her on a date, get married ...and then pregnant. Wow. Martina looks exhausted and bewildered as her boys make decisions without her control.

I keep thinking about someone here at caray even before it was called caray telling me that these telenoveas are really morality plays that examine good versus evil. I remember being surprised at that because I was just enjoying the quirky stories about a different culture . I have definitely seen telenovelas change in some ways over 16 years, but we still see good and evil. I think there is less black and white and more gray . Also , priests have mostly disappeared and been replaced by psychologists , and divorce doesnt carry the stigma it once had as society accepts it more. We still see either the poor girl and the rich boy or vice versa. Anyhoo, telenovelas are still my guilty pleasure . The patio has a revolving door. People come and go . Some are gone for real. Some have drifted away as others drift here and hopefully get comfy and find whatever the telenovelas and the caray patio peeps give them. Sometimes the conversations make us laugh as we snicker at these crazy characters and put on our beanies as the wild storylines spin out. But sometimes conversations become philosophical as these characters and plots make us analyze them and ourselves and those around us in our own lives and our own circumstances. They really are studies into Human nature.

Whoops ...above should be Eternamente....autocorrect hates me ...and vice versa.

Diana, Alfredo is such a surprise!!! He is usually such a vile , creepy character . He was that evil biker in Camino who haunted Ursula. Who knew he could be such a cuddle bunny .

Chilly and rainy here

I missed yesterday's Mujer - arrgghh! I didn't know about the schedule change and here we were just 4 episodes from the end and things are happening! I posted here yesterday to see if anyone could tell me what happened, and I saw that the post was added to the thread. but then later I couldn't find it. I thought maybe I'd posted to Telemundo by mistake, but no.

So I'm trying again. Can anybody tell me how Bahar reacted to Arif's profession of his love? And what else happened??
Help!!

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa. I'm glad you caught a break since they aired only one episode last night.

From what I've seen of TNs, if you're not jealous of your sweetie that means you lack passion. With Rogelio and Ulises, in this case Ulises continued "te quieros" since she happily returned to her husband is pregnant is just plain disrepectful of Rogelio. It's like another woman flirting with my man right in my face. Ulises has gotten tedious one note, so I hope he's gone soon.

Eva's tale shocked me. Surely she knows folks evil enough to kill her innocent sister and brother-in-law will be back. The money she gives them will never be enough. But Fidel was so sweet making up and vowing to protect Eva.

Ignacio has a point. I wouldn't want my attorney sleeping with my adversary.

Gabriel sure has a broad love range, marrying a hot young thang and now still in love with a stuffy old thang.

Martina, you have some nerve freely picking your own man while dictating who your boys should have.

ETERNAMENTE

Niecie, let's hope we have more of those soccer breaks along the way. : ) Your "Gabriel sure has a broad love range, marrying a hot young thang and now still in love with a stuffy old thang." sure called it and you are right about jealousy=passion, too, in these novelas. Lukewarm doesn't do it. Interesting comment about the mafioso Eva owed could be back for more $. That would be right in character.

OT....Mujer .....hello, Maggie . I feel your pain . I fell down the rabbit hole that is " Mujer" when I saw Bahar's children and their loving relationship . Then, I fell in love with the strong, silent ,brooding , and eventually devoted galan Arif. If you Google " Mujer telenovela Wikipedia " you can read the synopsis in English . Therefore , I knew the characters names and the plot . Also, you can find episode recaps in English on youtube. Lately, I have been confused about what's happening ( that weird mock wedding with Cedar and the bodyguard ???)
However, last night Ever ( Bahar's dear stepfather finally met with Sarp ( Alp) and told him that Bahar and his kids are alive and that Bahar is very sick and needs a transplant which crazy Siren could provide but doesn't want to. . ( His evil father in law had fake graves made. ) Crazy Sirin is at the heart of all Bahar's misery. I read on YouTube that when Arif finally told Bahar that he loved her ( at Cedar's urging ) , Bahar told him that she may die and he answered " Then I will love you until death . " wow...now that is a true hero. I haven't figured out how Sarp's evil mother has been involved with his evil father in law Suat , but Sirin is also conspiring with him. Good versus evil for sure .

Great comment, Susan, and I agree completely re: Elbittar. He is a great talent and has charisma in spades.
The first time I saw him was in "Olvidarte Jamas" in either 2002 or 2003. Martha Julia was also in that one (such an undervalued actress, that one), and have followed his career from Venezuela to Azteca...
I LOVED "Vidas Robadas" that he starred in- that featured the late, great Christian Bach in a dual role of twins- one long suffering, one monstrously evil who if I remember correctly has an apoplectic fit and is rendered catatonic at the end has her eyes surgically removed by her doctors while she screams silently....
I miss the days when telenovela were just entertaining, larger-than-life circuses. :-/

OT...Dear anonymous ( wish I could call you something other than anonymous ) I must check out " Vidas Robadas" next . I don't know if I have ever seen Christian Bach in anything . Daniel was so young in " Olivarte Jamas". Maybe 20. It seems that he learned his screen kissing techniques in that novela from William Levy' s wife who played the bad girl. William Levy was akso in that novela. I think it was
around the time I saw him for the first time in " Pasion". That must have been interesting with those three young people in the sane show with Daniel having the biggest role of the three. Martha Julia played a crazy evil character in that one and now is currently a villain in " Tierra."I am also impressed with Daniel's English since I have taught English to many people . He seems to be a joyful soul. We could be his agents.

ETERNAMENTE

"Gabriel sure has a broad love range, marrying a hot young thang and now still in love with a stuffy old thang" was marvelous Niecie.

Definitely side bar worthy!

Jarifa, I'm all in favor of a shower for Eva. Perhaps Martina will overindulge and let loose. That would be a hoot!!

Diana

Eternamente

Niecie, ha..." A broad love range ." I'm writing that one down.

I hope the bachelor party is a bit of comic relief and not another opportunity for a brawl between the brothers .

I can't wait to see Igy's mystery conspirator. Does Irma know about him \ her ?

I hope we get to see Vanessa add to the chaos . Why would they introduce this new character unless she is going to stir the pot somehow ? Luis looked perplexed by her . Imelda was laughing . ( She probably subliminally recognized a kindred troublemaking soul. Even young gun Marco was looking at her like " Who are you and why are you here ?" There must be a reason these two new characters have popped up.

Eternamente #58

We're only near the hump, so there are now 62 episodes left. Lots of room for more grief for anyone and everyone.

I just hope this doesn't end with this family losing everything. Rogelio, Luis, and Marco can make their own notions of a fortune but they don't deserve to be forced to.

ETERNAMENTE

As we head into the second half, I hope that they maintain interesting plot lines and do not regress into the telenovela doldrums.

"ETERNAMENTE":

Jarifa: Looks like this Telenovela might drag onto the remainder of 2023 from here on out. Wouldn't be surprised if it continues into 2024.

Tierra

All caught up! Thank you again Urban for your notes!

I loved the scene where Chris and Santos were brain storming how to make more money and Chris says they can set up a kissing booth and charge all of the woman in town to kiss Santos. Santos suggests they could charge double if he makes it a passionate kiss and Chris says maybe even triple! Valentina is standing there and protesting their joking around when they need serious suggestions! There's a twinkle in her eye however and you wonder if it's because the character is actually amused and trying to act like she isn't, or if the actress herself was just suppressing a laugh.

I still vote for Valentina and Chris as end game! I'm sitting at this table for sure. I love the playful chemistry between them....

'Marco discussed a deal with Garibaldi which sounds either like prostitution or trafficking' - it sounded like both to me....trafficking women, presumably for prostitution.

Have we heard what Santos's supposed motive would have been for killing Marcos's dad? Marcos doesn't seem like the type of person who would just accept that Santos killed his father just because Step Mommy said so....is there a motive? Is it just because the neighboring businesses had friction? I wonder if Marco's dad was dirty too? Or if he was an honest business man?
