Ceylin is freed. The boy gets his medicine.

Ilgaz and Aylin go to the station. He wants the phone number that called her from Bendri. Ilgaz calls Eren, who is at the courthouse. He tells the komiser that the car is in Bendri’s parking garage. Umut is there. The cameras weren’t working yesterday. He will check the cameras outside the parking garage.

Eren bangs on Pars’ door. Derya opens. He asks to speak with Pars alone. Pars has his back turned and is nasty. He wants to know why Eren has come. Eren says, I’m not here to talk to the AG, I’m here to talk to a friend that I appreciate. Pars turns to face Eren.

Eren says, if you want to talk about the ethics of our charges, we’ll talk outside. Look Pars, we have a love-hate relationship. We love to push each other. You were my superior, now you are more than that. You can do this to the komiser, but you can’t do this to Eren.

Pars remains silent and looks straight ahead. Eren continues with increasing emotion. You are my true friend. Haven’t we talked about our retirements? You sought me out from your pain, it’s alright. You got angry, it’s okay. Make me a punching bag if you want. I won’t say a word. That’s how I am, I will never turn my back on you. I will never let you go down the road like a child while I try to protect you! While Ilgaz and I constantly have problems!

How did you find out, Pars asks. Eren replies, since I’m your friend, I’m going to tell you to your face. You shouldn’t do this! Especially now. You’re being selfish at a time like this, when we need you most. Eren takes a breath… Ceylin was kidnapped, Pars.

Pars looks at Eren. Eren says it was because of his press conference. You didn’t know what you were saying because of the pain. I’m not telling you to make you feel guilty. But think about it. Pars feels awful. He wonders, what does it have to do with me?

Eren fires back, Ilgaz was right. The killer is creating a family for himself. Eren tells him about all the missing people. Ceylin is the mother, just like Neva. Now, if your conscience, your brotherhood and your friendship allows it, you won’t let Neva, Ilgaz and me down by quitting your job. Be a good friend and help us find Ceylin. That’s all I have to say. Eren leaves.

Derya is waiting outside the door. Did you convince him? We’ll see, Eren replies. And he tells Derya that Ceylin has disappeared. The bastard has created another family.
Eren sits in his car and cries. He’s ready to drive off. The car door opens and Pars slides in. Let’s go, komiser… to the police station.

Ilgaz and Rafet look at cameras from outside the garage. Ilgaz notices an official car. It’s got tinted windows. He asks to see other footage, around the disappearance of the girl. There’s the same car, with a different plate. Ilgaz can tell by the same crack in the taillight. Ilgaz asks for a comparison of all cars spotted at the kidnap scenes.
A cop reports that the number Aylin had was from a burner phone.

Aylin calls Parla and asks her if she’s spoken to Ceylin. Parla says no, her phone must be turned off. She couldn’t contact her.

Parla, Tugce and Merve are at Serdar’s house. They ring the bell and knock at the door. Kerime Teyze? We are friends of Serdar. The door is open, they enter.

The boy is doing better. He tells Ceylin his name is Samet. Will I see my mother again? Ceylin says he will. The RE agent lifts his hand from the floor and has blood on them. He freaks out. It’s blood! Someone was killed here! He asks Ceylin to tell what she knows.

 

secrets #68 part 2

Merve tells Kelime that Serdar entrusted her to them. lol, Tugce sees the small pic of Serdar and gushes how handsome, he looks so handsome! Kelime says Serdar never comes to see her. Tugce asks to use the bathroom. She snoops around the house. She finds laundry. Looks like Serdar’s shirt and pants are in the hamper. She takes pictures of them. He’s been there.

Lacin calls Aylin. Aylin tells her that Ceylin is missing, but don’t tell Gul. Lacin is with Gul, so she quickly gets off the phone. Gul senses something is up. She heard Ceylin’s name mentioned. Lacin tries to say it gently. They can’t get in touch with Ceylin. Her phone is off. They are checking it out.

The cars are compared. The same car is at all the scenes. The windows are dark so you can’t see inside. And the car was reported as stolen. Pars tells Rafet to ask for help from other districts. Everyone will review video. The official car will be found.

The girls leave Kelime’s house. Tugce takes a stinky bag of garbage with her. She says someone’s trash may be your treasure. [She’s Eren’s daughter for sure!]

Ilgaz agonizes over a picture of Ceylin. Eren shouts it’s not possible that no one saw anything! Five people went missing! He gets a message from Goksu. They found a rag soaked in ether.

Pars comes in with something the captives had in common. An email survey on their phones, that was sent from a public wifi in a coffee shop. Derya seems to know something about this. Was it about killing? Or would you kill someone? Pars says yes. Derya says that Elif had something like that on her computer. Derya says they were strange questions, like, if one of your friends got in trouble, would you kill for him?

Ilgaz remembers and we get the flashback. Ilcey were on their honeymoon at the beach. She wanted to go in the water, he wanted to finish his book first. She picks up her phone. She takes an interesting survey and reads it out loud—have you ever thought of killing someone? Would you kill someone if you had to?

Ilgaz asks, what is that? A psychology test, she replies. He puts down his book. She notes an interesting question. For a loved one to live, you have to die. Would you sacrifice yourself? She tells Ilgaz, I would die for you. Ilgaz says she got his attention. But I can’t let you die for me, I don’t like that. He carries her into the water. End flashback.

Ilgaz says Ceylin also did that survey. Pars says that Neva could have done the survey, too. She was always interested in these sorts of things. Derya says the whole survey was about violence and killing. Ilgaz thinks whoever this guy is… he killed his family. He’s trying to prove something. The fingerprint belonged to Neva. The victim was killed with that knife. He forces people to kill others. Derya wonders if this is how the killer eases his conscience. Eren wants to find the author of the survey.

Ceylin tells the others about the bodies found in the well. Yes, they heard the news report. The girl asks if the murderer kidnapped them. Ceylin says yes. She tells them she knows this because she was the lawyer for the mother of one of the victims.

Yekta is having lunch at a nice restaurant. He asks the waiter for the check. The doctor who spoke with Lacin meets him. The doc says he did exactly what Yekta asked. I think she believed me, he says. Yekta asks, what did she do? Was she worried? He’s excited. He wants details. Did she cry? First the doc says no, then he says yes. Yekta is pleased.

 

secrets #68 part 3

The doc continues, I told her everything. What is to be expected and what you will need. All the comforts. You should have exaggerated, Yekta says. The doc remembers, I said you should be well taken care of. Hygiene. Someone must be with you all the time. You shouldn’t feel cold and be well fed. No stress, or the illness can worsen.

Yekta says he will carry out his end of the bargain—your wife will be acquitted of everything. Yekta also gives the doc his watch and he gets up from the table right before the check arrives. By the look on the doc’s face, it was a very expensive meal.

Ozgur meets Yekta outside the restaurant. Yekta tells him you’ll have your money and I’ll have mine. We’ll be a team just like old times. We’ll see, Ozgur answers, if you don’t screw up. if you do, I’ll beat you and no amount of plastic surgery will fix your face.

Eren finds the source of the survey. Donusum University, Dept of Psychology. The dept. chair. Ilgaz and Eren head off.

Derya and Pars are alone in Eren’s office. She gets up, I’m going to take a breather. Pars asks, because you can’t breathe when I’m around? You blame me too? Did this really happen because of the press conference? Derya asks if he wants the truth. He does. She says yes, unfortunately, yes. You insulted him. You scolded him. He’s proving he’s not an idiot.

Lacin drives Gul. She tries to keep her calm. Nothing is certain yet. Maybe her phone is not working. They stop at Metin’s house. He’s gardening in the yard. Merdan comes out. Metin asks, what’s wrong? [Get ready, here it comes…] She asks, where is Ceylin? He’s silent, he doesn't understand.

Gul says, while you are here watering flowers, my daughter is missing. Where is Ceylin?! Defne is there and she gets upset. Merdan asks her to calm down for the sake of Defne. He sends Defne into the house.

Gul continues, I’m burning inside. Speak clearly to me. We don’t know anything about Ceylin. Where is my daughter? Where did you hide her? Tell me now! Metin has no idea what she’s talking about. Neither does Merdan. How is that, she asks, don’t you know where she is? Doesn’t she live here with you? You don’t know anything? God, give me patience!

Lacin tries to get Gul to leave. She’s not spent yet. She looks at Metin, you… you and your family…how many lives do you want from me? There are none left. It’s over. I have no more lives you can take. You took them all. At least take my life to let it end. Lacin leads her away.

Ilgaz and Eren meet with the Psych chair. The prof says that’s his name, signature and the school logo, but they never prepared a survey like this. Ilgaz asks if a student or a department assistant did this. The prof says he reads and remembers everything he needs to sign. It’s the first time he’s seen this. He says a survey like this wouldn’t be needed. Research has been done before.

The girls bring their report and bag of garbage to Cinar. Tugce says Serdar is living in his mom’s house. She tells him about Serdar’s dirty clothes. Yuck, his stink was all over them. Tugce shows him the pic she took. And she starts to rummage through the garbage. She finds a receipt for a drone. Cinar grabs it. Tugce wants to give it to the komiser. Cinar is keeping it. What will you do, Parla asks. Cinar answers, we will wait at his door and take turns.

Ceylin says she didn’t want to scare anyone. That’s why she was silent. She says he didn’t give them food or water either. After a while their nerves were tense and they got angry with each other. Ceylin says it was proved the hostages killed each other. The taxista asks how. One was hanged, another stabbed.

 

secrets #68 part 4

They became murderers, the girl says, this man is a maniac. He’s sick. The agent says they don’t have knives. Ceylin cautions him speak quietly. She says, it’s not about how they killed each other, it’s about not losing ourselves and fighting each other. The girl says, he won’t let us out until we kill ourselves.

Ceylin says that’s why we have to endure. The cold, the hunger, the thirst. We’ll hold on until the cops find us. We will not fight with each other. They are looking for us right now, I’m sure. He wants us to get out of control.

Ilgaz has a low moment. He thinks about what Ceylin is doing now, what’s happening to her. I would die if something happens to her. [I fear she might be the death of him one way or another by the time this is over.]

Eren doesn’t want to hear that. Ceylin is strong, I know she’s okay. Ilgaz wishes she was here, lying, not listening, going crazy. The one that breaks the rules and drives me crazy, he says, I accept her as she is, for being Ceylin, as long as she’s here and looks me in the eye. Eren encourages Ilgaz to hold on. Ilgaz feels frustrated and guilty he could not protect Ceylin. He’s afraid.

Gul, Lacin and Aylin come out of the station. Ilgaz and Eren go to them. Gul asks, where is your wife? Huh? Where is my daughter, prosecutor? You took her from my house. Couldn’t you protect her? I’ll find her alive, Ilgaz says, I promise.

Pars rushes out of the station. No one interfere with my orders. Everyone to the vehicles. Let’s go. Pars tells the guys they found the car, it’s on the move. Car chase is on! Lol, a whole fleet of cop cars chasing one black car. One quick maneuver and the black car is blocked. I lost count of how many cops jumped out with guns drawn on the car.

Get out of the car! Open the window! Hands out! Two sketchy guys get out. They saw the car with the keys in it and took it for a ride, so they say. They found the car in Gaziosmanpaşa district. The guys are cuffed and taken. The inside of the car looks a mess. They might be drug dealers. Ilgaz wants the trunk opened. Clothes… Ceylin’s clothes are in the pile.

The captives are getting some sleep. Ceylin wakes. There are noises. From the toilet area. Where is the RE agent? She gets up and checks. The agent has hung himself. Ceylin and the taxista try to save him.

Ilgaz scratches away with a pencil on paper. Metin enters the office. This is weird, Ilgaz doesn’t put the pencil down. He keeps scribbling with the pencil. Metin asks if he can help with anything. Thanks, Dad, he replies without looking up from the paper. Metin says to let him know if he needs anything. Yes, Dad, it’s okay. Metin keeps talking. Ilgaz looks like a crazy person.

Eren comes in and gives Ilgaz the necklace he gave Ceylin for her birthday. He thinks back to that day. Then he gets up and goes to the bathroom. He washes his face. It doesn’t help, he has a total breakdown, he sits on the floor and sobs. We see Ceylin having a breakdown of her own in that basement.

Pars enters the bathroom and sees Ilgaz on the floor. He sits next to Ilgaz and puts his hand on his friend’s shoulder. Pars apologizes and blames himself for what happened. Ilgaz finally gets up and leaves the bathroom.

They cut a product placement ad for an air fryer. Derya calls Pars to see how he’s doing and tells him she’s making a very healthy dinner of chicken and vegetables. She will bring it to him. He says he can’t eat anything now. lol seems a little out of place with the drama that’s going on.

 

secrets #68 part 5

Eren and Ilgaz drive to the well house. [It’s probably too soon to find the captives.] Eren says they searched everything, everywhere. If you come up with something, we will check again. [viewerville shouts—check again, anyway!] Ilgaz wonders how the bodies ended up here. What happened until we found them? This is the only place to find something, or find the murderer.

Ilgaz asks, shouldn’t there be a guard here? Eren says there should be and he starts to get out of the car. Ilgaz wants to check. He walks the grounds with a flashlight. He opens the well and gags. He heads for the house.

Ceylin looks at the faint light coming through the blocked window. The girl asks her if she’s okay. The boy is sleeping. Looks like the agent survived.

Ilgaz walks right past the window Ceylin was looking at. He walks around the house. He stops to look at a basement window—not Ceylin’s. He heads back to the car. Let’s go.

The door slot opens and a knife is thrown into the room. The taxista grabs it while everyone sleeps. He gets up and heads in the direction of Ceylin, the girl and the boy. I think he put the knife in his back pocket. He looks at everybody and looks up at the camera.

Next morning. Osman is home with Parla. Aylin, Gul and Lacin are sitting in front of the station waiting for news.

Rafet arrives and tells his people he wants all files on the well murders and missing persons on his desk asap. Ilgaz is waiting in Rafet’s office. Who sent the guards away from the mansion? Rafet says he ordered that. He had to do it. After the press conference, there were no cops left to investigate, so I took them away. Do you want me to keep them at the mansion or send them to find new evidence? People are dying, people are missing. It’s our responsibility. Ilgaz states, to be clear… no decisions will be made on this case without my consent! Never again! He slams the door on his way out.

Eren tells Ilgaz that Goksu called for them. They found something new. Pars goes with them. The ME says there were clothing fibers on the bones. The clothes on Neva and the others were the same color as the clothing colors on the bones. All the clothes were from the brand’s 2010 line.

This wasn’t so clear to me, but Ilgaz somehow concludes that family whose bones were in the well were not the killer’s real family. They were also victims. Ilgaz says these are just model families. His real family was murdered 12 years ago. Why else would he find old clothes and make everyone wear them?

The captives wake up and find the taxista, dead on the floor. Looks like a stab wound.
Ilgaz addresses the station crew. We are looking for a family that died inn 2010. In all parts of the country, and most likely died at the same time. Accidents, murders, anything. Eren shares files with info for them to read.

The girl and the agent are freaking out. Ceylin takes the boy to the toilet area so he doesn’t look at the body. Don’t look! Ceylin covers the taxista with the blanket. Ceylin turns to the others, which one of you did it? Huh? Who killed him? The agent snivels and shakes his head. No, no. Ceylin shakes him. Did you do it?! Tell me! He cries, no… no.

Ilgaz finds info on a family in Ordu (city further east on the Black Sea). Cause of death was a fire. The ages and genders match. Eren asks if anyone survived. The 12 year old boy was saved. Eren asks, what is his name?

Ceylin goes after the girl. You did it?! She pins her against the wall. Who killed him?! Speak! Why are you screaming, she replies, maybe you did it! Maybe you killed him! The door opens and someone is thrown into the room. The door immediately slams shut.
Eren tells Pars they have something. Eren asks Ilgaz for the ID number. Let’s look at his record. The person is Burak Yildirim, the reporter friend of Cinar.

 

secrets #68 part 6

The new person in the basement is Burak Yildirim. He looks in bad shape.
Eren asks the IT guy to check the signal from Burak’s phone. A cop comes in and says that Burak is not at work. Ilgaz asks, do they know where he is? No one knows. No signal from the phone, it must be off. Someone finds Burak’s address.

Gul tells Aylin, Ceylin disappeared. You no longer have a sister. Like Inci. Just like your dad. Aylin and Lacin tell her not to say that. [dondi says please don’t say anything at all.]

Eren says our target is here. He points to some building on a screen. The 30th floor. Let’s go quietly. Sirens off. Rafet asks Eren to keep him informed. Pars is ticked. He tells Rafet, I’m going too. Are you going to stay here and drink coffee?

Rafet says there were 4 murders in separate locations last night and 9 injury cases. I thought someone needed to stay and deal with the rest of the complaints. I don’t want anyone to say that everything stopped due to one case. He adds, I think that an AG should not attend an operation under any circumstances. But I understand, you lost somebody. I’ll deal with the complaints here. I have complete confidence in you, başsavcı.

Pars is back in old form. [Turkish] What a joy for me, he replies, I hope you can do something useful, Rafet Abi. What a great chief…

The ladies waiting outside notice the activity. Gul confronts Ilgaz. Where is Ceylin? I thought you were going to find Ceylin. Where is she? Where? Ilgaz says he promised he’d bring her back and he will. Gul shouts, you made that promise before! You promised that very thing! Aylin wants to go along. Ilgaz says no way. Take care of your mother. Take her inside.

Gul shouts, I’m not going inside! Damn you and your police station and all of you! I’ll wait for my daughter right here!

Lacin gets a call from Yekta. She’s been worried about him. He hasn’t answered her calls. I don’t feel well at all, he replies. I was sleeping and couldn’t answer. Where are you, she asks. He says he’s fine, don’t worry. She asks again, where are you? He tells her there are some people who help him a little. You already helped me enough. He hangs up on her. Yekta is very pleased with himself.

Lacin calls Aysun. She wants Yekta’s address.

Ceylin helps Burak. He gets blood on his finger and freaks out. He has a blood phobia. He looks at the dead taxista. Is that a man? What is he doing here? Is he alive? No. Burak freaks out again at the sight of blood. He asks, what happened here? Why don’t you tell us, the girl says. She shouts, how do you two know each other?

Ceylin explains he’s a reporter. Burak says we don’t know each other very well. Ceylin adds, we spoke only once. The girl doesn’t believe it. What a coincidence. Someone is thrown into the room. I don’t know him, he doesn't know him, but you know him. What’s up with you?

Ceylin tells the girl to calm down. The girl becomes more agitated. Maybe you killed him! Ceylin loses it. She goes after the girl. Enough! Enough! I’ll kill you! Burak has a look of evil anticipation.

And we are out.

Wow! The only downside to me for this part is the fact that Eren said that Ceylin killed Ilgaz. I can't stand that part and wish they hadn't shown that particular flash forward. Otherwise this whole scene in the cellar is gripping and fascinating.

I was wondering about the "official car". Eventually they said it was stolen, but wouldn't there be a record of who has "official cars"?

Yep, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree with Tugce. If only she'd gone straight to Eren or at least called him about the evidence of where Serdar is staying. Instead she had to bring her evidence to mentally challenged Cinar so Serdar probably won't be grabbed up anytime soon.

Are we to assume that Yekta wanted Ozgur to beat him that way as part of his plot? The way the first scene was shown, it just looked like Yekta had stiffed Ozgur. I just can hardly bear watching Lacin feeling sorry for him. He's sure to be moved into her lovely house, probably within two days.

"Get ready...here it comes!" Gun just doesn't disappoint, does she. The things she said to the suffering Ilgaz were despicable.

I was wondering if the agent hung himself or if the taxista did it. But it must have been a suicide attempt, or he'd have said so when he recovered.

I remember Ceylin putting that lovely gold necklace into a pocket, probably so the kidnapper wouldn't find it.

Well, we got our wish. The taxista died first. But how? Suicide? Now that we know that Burak was the 12-year-old whose family died, it sure looks like he sent himself through that opening in the room. Unless there's another twist.

I loved Pars ripping into Rifat. Ilgaz did a bit of it as well. It's hard to say if he's somehow part of a scheme or just a really crappy cop.

"dondi says: please don't say anything". Amen! Aylin and Ceylin are so tolerant of this shrew. Yes, she's had tragic things happen to her, but she just lashes out at people who haven't done a thing.

Gripping story. But the parts with Gul I wanted to fast-forward.

It was Ceylin who grabbed the hand. She wanted to catch the kidnapper, but the two guys didn't help her and were yelling to let him go so as not to make him mad.

The two guys picked the wrong car to have a "joy ride." There were at least five cars following them. Pretty good car chase.

The taxista was stabbed in the side/back, so I don't think he killed himself. I think it was the kidnapper, but how did he manage to do it quietly? Maybe knocked him out with ether first and then finished him.

Ceylin backs off the girl. Burak pulls a water bottle out of his jacket. There’s still some water. He offers it to the boy. He drinks a little and hands it back to Burak. The girl grabs it and drinks. The agent asks for some, and the girl spitefully takes another sip before handing it to the agent. Burak says, save some for Ceylin. Ceylin gets her turn to drink.

Burak searches his pockets and finds a chocolate bar. The girl grabs at it. Burak gives it to the boy. The girl gripes, he’s not the only one who’s hungry. The boy takes his piece and hands it over to the girl.

Don’t eat it all, we can share, he says. The girl walks away with it and Ceylin gives her a look. Don’t look at me like that, the girl says, we only had a small piece of simit. She makes a point of shoving pieces into her mouth. Burak portions out candy to the rest of them.

Cinar talks to a cop. Have they found Ceylin? Not yet. The cop finds Burak’s address. Cinar is surprised…who? The cop explains, he’s a reporter who spends time here. He might be the murderer. [yes, Cinar, another bad choice of yours]

Ceylin asks Burak how he ended up here. Because of you, Burak replies, I followed you. You had another lawyer take over the child’s case. I saw you get in his car. You visited a company in Maslak. I waited outside, but you never came out. I gave up and decided to come back. I saw an official vehicle leave the parking lot. I’d also seen an official vehicle at the hospital on the day Mehmetcan was kidnapped. The car had a broken taillight. The Maslak car had the same damage. I’m a reporter and I notice those things.

Burak continues, I forgot about you and went after the car. I thought I’d find a connection to the case. I ran into a wedding parade and got stuck and lost the car. Ceylin asks, where are we? Burak says, we are in the same location as the well. We are inside the mansion.

When I learned you were kidnapped, he says, I wondered if you had been in the car. I came here. I couldn’t find the car. I went home to sleep. I woke up in the night and had to come back. I said to myself, ‘Burak, the car went to the mansion. Go there!’ I drove my bike here and hid.

Did you tell anyone, Ceylin asks, why didn’t you tell the police, DAs or Ilgaz? Why did you come alone? Are you an idiot? [no, he’s the killer.] Burak says if he notified the cops, he wouldn’t have been able to publish his notes. This is his job. I forgot to take my phone with me. That man found me. He overpowered me and threw me in here.

Ceylin asks, did you see him? Yes. Who is he, she asks, do you know him? No.

Our team swarms Burak’s building and bangs on his door. They break in. Nice apartment. The guy obviously makes a good living. All clear. The place is searched. Ilgaz finds Burak’s phone. Pars comments he might have known we were coming. Someone at the station could have tipped him off. Ilgaz says he will make the snitch pay if that’s true.

Ilgaz hands the phone over to Eren. Eren says no one is here. Pars tells Ilgaz not to worry. We know who he is and we’ll find Ceylin soon.

Lacin shows up at the store. [I didn’t recognize Aysun. And it was her father’s store.] Aysun was helping Yekta. Lacin is very surprised to find out this is where Yekta has been living. Yekta hears them at the door, and he quickly makes a mess of his room. He pretends to be surprised when Lacin walks into the room.

Lacin is horrified at the living conditions. [it doesn’t look as bad in the daytime.] Yekta says he’s here thanks to Aysun and her father. Lacin looks at the window. Yekta says it’s unable to open. She comments on the lack of ventilation, the lack of cleanliness. You can’t live here, she says.

Yekta replies, you’ve never been this miserable, so you don’t think anyone can live like this. It’s possible, Lacin. I was able to settle in here. You came, you saw, and you pitied me. Now you can go. Isn’t this what you wanted? You’re a good person and God answered your prayers. Can you ask Mr. Shamet for painkillers on the way out?

Ceylin tells Burak, maybe someone knows you were following me. A friend, someone from the paper. He says, no, I normally work alone. We are journalists and competitive. Where are we in the house, she asks. The basement. Is there an exit, entrance, a hidden place, Ceylin asks. Burak says this place can’t be seen from the outside. The entrance is hidden. We need to find a way out, she says, but I can’t think anymore.

Burak says if we put our heads together, we can come up with a plan. We are a group and he’s alone. Are you sure, Ceylin asks. Burak thinks so, he only saw one person. We can subdue him. Ceylin thinks that could work.

Burak wants to move the taxista out of the middle of the room. They do it together.
Eren hands over Burak’s laptop for investigation. Ilgaz looks for a family picture to compare clothing. Pars is out questioning the neighbors. Eren finds pictures.

Lacin takes Yekta to her house. He keeps up his act. She says he can stay with her until they figure something out. [I hope she figures out Yekta’s scam soon] Yekta turns to Aysun and her dad, goodbye Shamet hostel… good bye, pigsty. Shamet turns to Aysun—that man will never set foot here again.

Burak asks how this happened to the taxista. Did you see anything? Ceylin says the murderer never came in. There was a bottle of water at the door. If the murderer had walked in or opened the door, the bottle would have moved. But it didn’t… until the door opened and you were thrown inside. I didn’t hear the door open either. Ceylin thinks someone inside killed the taxista.

The girl approaches the agent. She’s very suspicious of Ceylin and Burak talking all this time and Ceylin knows this man. The agent doesn’t think it’s so strange, the man is a reporter. He might be investigating the case. You believe him, the girl asks, what if he isn’t? Maybe it’s a trap. They both invented it. They’ve been talking and whispering. They are plotting. They are going to kill us.

Neighbors are asked about Burak. They can’t believe this. They all think he’s a great guy. Umut says they’ve found out Burak has a grandfather.

The knife sits in the middle of the room. Burak wants to take it away. The girl stops him. No one will touch it! It stays where everyone can see it. Someone was murdered in this room. We don’t know who did it. That’s why the knife stays there.

They have the grandfather’s address and head over there. Pars has Ridvan prepare a search warrant. Eren tells Ilgaz the grandfather is Haluk Yildirim. It’s Metin’s boss.

Metin is at Haluk’s mansion. Haluk tells him, this must feel like a demotion to you. I hope we haven’t insulted you. It’s not easy for me to trust people, but when I trust them, it means a lot. Those who start with me, will, God willing, reach the finish line with me. I hired you to work security and gave you more responsibilities. Let me know if it’s too much. Metin says it’s fine. I want to be useful to you and do my job. If you’re happy, I’m happy.

Lacin brings Yekta into the house. He starts to reminisce. She’s a bit annoyed. [but she’s the one who let him back in.] He says he’ll find a place as soon as he feels better. She tells him to take the small room upstairs at the end of the hallway. Get some rest, remember what the doctor said. Shower and wash your clothes. I want to keep a clean house. Wash what you are wearing, too.

Yekta says he doesn’t have any clean clothes with him. She sighs, there are a few things in the basement. The movers brought them here by mistake. This is great for Yekta. He takes his bag and proceeds to his room. He stops at a picture collage and focuses on a pic of Engin—this is all your fault, you bastard. He sees a painting on the wall and realizes Lacin has the real ones.

I guess Merdan wasn’t feeling well. Defne is taking care of him. Merdan is happy to know that Metin is checking in to see how he is.

The cops arrive at Haluk’s mansion. Haluk is told that Burak is a suspect in the well murder case. He’s asked, have you seen him? Haluk says he’s not there. Ilgaz says they are going to search the house. Haluk can’t believe this. My grandson would never hurt anyone. He has no criminal record. Haluk asks Metin to accompany the cops.

Metin asks Eren if he’s sure about this. Eren says Burak is a suspect. We are doing everything possible to find Ceylin and the others.

Ilgaz has questions for Haluk. When was the last time you saw Burak? Last week. Does he come often? Sometimes. And sometimes we eat at a restaurant. He’s a busy reporter. Do you have other properties? My office. Houses, but they are all rented. Does he have a girlfriend?

Haluk tells Ilgaz he’s making a big mistake. I’m not saying this because he’s my grandson. He’s a great young man. He’s not involved in this. He’s an honest, hardworking man. He loves and serves his country. I raised and disciplined him myself. Ilgaz replies, you can never be sure. There’s always a margin for error.

Burak has the idea to lure the killer into the room and attack him when he comes in. Ceylin says she’ll go along. She can’t even think straight anymore.

Haluk is on the phone to his lawyers. They lawyer can’t get there right away. Haluk says they are talking about the murders at the well. They think Burak is responsible! You have to be here! [I see an opening for Yekta.] The lawyer is with his daughter in the hospital. He can’t leave her. He will call his partner to handle it. Haluk refuses to work with anyone else.

Lacin brings up Yekta’s things and says she’s going out. He thought she’d make him a nice meal and they’d have a talk. You can’t be serious, she replies. Ceylin is missing and her family is devastated. I need to be with them. There’s food in the fridge. This makes Yekta’s day.

The search at Haluk’s turns up nothing. Burak hasn’t lived there since he was 18. Ilgaz asks his father if he knows anything. Unfortunately, Metin has nothing. He investigated the family before he applied for the job. He wouldn’t have taken it if he found anything shady. He’s shocked by all this.

Ilgaz asks his dad if he’s met Burak. A few times. Metin thinks that Ilgaz could be wrong about this. [doesn’t he know that Ilgaz is never wrong?] Ilgaz tells his dad to keep his eyes open.

They get ready to leave Haluk’s place. Eren thanks him. Haluk says he’s done his duty as a citizen and supports them as long as they don’t make a mistake.

Burak shares his plan with the others. The girl and the agent opt out. Ceylin tries to convince them. They argue, but it’s a no go with those two.

Ilgaz and co. arrive back at the station. Gul puts on a show outside. Where’s Ceylin?! Where is my daughter?! You failed to find her again! LOL---everyone ignores her as they enter the station.

Ilgaz wants all the reporters brought into the station.

Ceylin and Burak cover the cameras in hopes of luring the killer into the room. The girl continues to spew poison into the agent’s ear.

Ilgaz tells the reporters he called them in to gather information not to give it. Burak Yildirim, he’s a reporter. Do you know him? The group wonders what this is about. Ilgaz says Burak is wanted on suspicion of murder.

A reporter asks if this is related to the current investigation. Ilgaz will not divulge anything else. He asks, help me find him asap. Tell the officers everything you know. All details are important. Ilgaz leaves the room and Eren calms the commotion.

Cinar comes to Ilgaz. He has something to tell him. I know Burak. We became friends here. Ilgaz asks, how can I find him? Cinar doesn’t know, he never went to his house. Is he a regular somewhere, Ilgaz asks.

Cinar doesn’t know but tells his brother what he does know. Burak has a degree in Sociology, he graduated with honors. He’s always studying something, always reading. He doesn’t have much money, but manages to get by. It’s Cinar’s personal opinion. He uses a moto to get around. Cinar says he rents the moto. Ilgaz remembers seeing tire tracks at the mansion.

Ilgaz tells Eren to assemble the team. We’re going to the mansion.

The girl stirs more trouble. She tells the agent not to sleep, or the others will stab him. Burak’s plan doesn’t seem to be working. [gosh, I wonder why.]

Operation Overlord is launched at the mansion. Ha, Rafet had already sent cops back there. They say it’s been quiet. Ilgaz notices a moto. The cops say it was there when they arrived. No one has come to get it. Flashback to Burak’s statement—he talks about his moto. Ilgaz gives orders, be careful, we’ll go in quietly. We won’t tip him off so he can get away.

Heavily armed teams of law enforcement officers walk through the house. Even Ilgaz and Pars carry guns. Every space is carefully searched. Ilgaz heads down to the basement. Eren meets him down there. We’ve looked everywhere, the komiser says, including the attic, no one is here. Ilgaz notes that this is a small basement for such a big mansion. Ilgaz wants the space emptied.

The girl starts laughing over the stupid plan. Ceylin and the girl tussle. Threats are shouted. The girl picks up the knife. Burak and the agent watch.

Ilgaz finds a door and opens it. There’s the laptop that is connected to the cameras. They see and hear the struggle in the room.

Burak tries to stop the crazed girl. Ilgaz tries to break into the room. Burak grabs the girl and throws her against the wall just as she’s about to stab Ceylin.

Ilgaz, Eren and Pars break into the room. The ladies are sobbing. Burak faints when he sees blood on the girl’s arm. Ilgaz rushes to Ceylin. Pars checks Burak. Eren goes to the boy, don’t be scared, I’m a police officer, you’re safe now.

The freed captives are at the hospital. Ceylin wakes up. Ilgaz is by her side. You know, I’ll never leave you alone again, he tells her. I don’t think I’ll want to be alone for a long time, she replies. I was so scared and nervous. I thought I was going to die. I didn’t think I’d see my mother again, or my sister, or Parla or you. I close my eyes and I can still smell that room. I’m here with you, Ilgaz says, I’ll never leave you. [until she kills him]

Haluk is with Burak and speaks with his doctor. Run every test you have to. Don’t overlook anything, my grandson is a hemophiliac. [interesting. He has a blood phobia.] The doc says, I understand the concern, but your grandson is fine.

Haluk tells Burak, you are the apple of my eye. I want everything done right. It’s just you and me against the rest of the world. Burak tells grandpa he’s fine. Just a headache. Right away Haluk wants him to have a CAT scan. But Burak is ready to leave the hospital. Haluk wants him to stay under observation.

Pars, Derya and Eren talk to Burak’s doctor. He tells them that Burak is doing well, and he mentions hemophilia. Eren needs an explanation. Pars says he doesn’t know if Burak is a victim or a suspect. Eren says if he was a suspect, why was he inside the room? Derya notes he was beaten. Pars says he was trying to save Ceylin when we saw them on the camera. Eren saw that too. What do we do now, Derya asks.

Ceylin’s family get their turn to visit. Gul doesn’t even thank Ilgaz. Aylin apologizes for making that appointment in Maslak without checking it out first.

Ilgaz heads down the hall to get the update on Burak. Pars says, we thought he was a suspect, but after finding him in that room, we’re confused. Is he a victim or a suspect? We saw him save Ceylin. If he was going to kill them, why come between them? And why risk his life? What would have happened if he hadn’t been there?

Ilgaz wants Burak brought to the station to give his statement. He must have had a reason to be there and do what he did. Maybe he did it to save himself from being caught.

Aylin speaks with Cetin on the phone, in front of Osman. She tells her family that Cetin checked Ceylin’s test results and said not to worry. Sly Osman asks, who is Cetin? Do I know him? He’s a friend, Aylin replies, you don’t know him. Wow, you have doctor friends, Osman snarks.

Eren enters Burak’s room. Burak Yildirim, you are under arrest on suspicion of murder. What? Grandpa Haluk asks, what kind of nonsense is that? You rescued him! He was being held hostage! Murder? My grandson is innocent. Eren says they will figure that out at the station.

Haluk says question Burak here and get it over with. Eren says that Pars is meeting with the doctor, who will give his opinion. Pars walks in with the doc and tells Burak he will be discharged and brought to the station. Haluk argues and Burak tells him to calm down. He’ll go to give his statement and then go home to rest.

Burak gets dressed. Haluk says he will handle this. The kid tells Grandpa he didn’t kill anyone. Grandpa knows. Even if I saw blood on your hands, I wouldn’t believe it. You’ve been through a lot, and we’ll get through this too.

Ceylin sees Burak being led out of the hospital. Eren sees Ceylin. She asks what’s happening. He says Ilgaz will tell her later and he walks out. Notice that smirk Burak gave to Parla on his way out?

Metin stops in front of Gul. Geçmiş olsun, Gul Hanım. I just saw Ilgaz and he says Ceylin is okay. She looks away from him. Please don’t do that, he says, our children are married. Ceylin is like a daughter to me. We’ll be seeing each other often. We should learn to be a family.

Gul glares at Metin and stands up to him. I have a family. Two daughters and a granddaughter… that’s all I need. I just wanted us to be able to face each other, he says. Grandchildren could come, we will see each other even if we don’t want to.

[Turkish] May God correct this if he wrote such a fate, Gul hisses, my daughter hasn’t smiled since she met your son. [more like the other way around.] So much happened to her [much her own doing]. She is in danger every day [much her own doing]. I can’t worry about grandchildren now. That’s why I don’t want them to have any children. Metin walks away. [Gul makes it impossible to feel sorry for her.]

Ilgaz comes back to Ceylin. She immediately asks, where was Burak going? She saw him walk past the door. He’s reluctant to tell her. She says she wouldn’t meddle, but now she’s involved. Ilgaz tells her Burak is a suspect. We think he’s trying to recreate his family. Ilgaz fills her in on the fire.

Ceylin wonders why Burak was in the room with them. The killer beat him. He’s a good guy. He helped all of us. He saved my life when that girl attacked me. She adds she doesn’t really blame the girl under the circumstances.

Ilgaz tells her to stop asking so many questions and stop worrying. Pars and Eren will handle it. What about me, Ceylin asks, what about my statement? Ilgaz says she’ll get her turn. Right now, focus on your health and yourself. You went through so much.

Burak is brought into the station. He walks past Cinar and smirks. Cinar looks mighty nervous.

And we are out.

When Pars and Eren doubted that Burak was the kidnapper I thought how could they doubt? The connection can't be a coincidence. They found the kidnapped following him. But then Burak was part of the family, but Haluk lost someone in the fire too.

Lacin had her freedom, but she didn't value it enough. Too bad. Now she has Yekta attach himself to her.

That girl became a monster really fast. Eating most of the candy bar echoed what the taxista did with the water. Do the writers think most people are awful?

Burak sounds plausible. But how did he know they were in the mansion, really?

Why in the world is Aysun helping Yekta? If she's the one I remember from Tilmen Law Firm, she was regularly insulted by him.

Ceylin is the one using her wits. It's good to see a good side of her after all her mistakes so far. Knowing about the water bottle not having moved was smart.

Oh boy. Burak's grandfather is Haluk. These writers really like to introduce random characters and then see how they connect.

I did enjoy Yekta seeing how Lacin set him up with the fake paintings. But now she's throwing it all away.

Wasn't there something about Merdan having a terminal disease? This is the first time there's been any sign of it.

Cinar at last proved useful, telling Ilgaz about the motorcycle. That was a big help with Ilgaz connecting those tracks at the mansion with his theory about Burak trying to recreate his family.

Yes, why did Burak save Ceylin? If he's the evildoer, wouldn't he want another murder inside that room?

Please, please...spare us so much Gul. Who tells someone who's now related by marriage that she doesn't want any grandchildren from his side of the family? Awful, awful.

Ceylin, didn't blame the girl after she was saved? I think that girl should get a prison sentence for trying to stab Ceylin.

novelera, after Burak heard Ceylin was kidnapped from Maslak he wondered if she was taken in the official car that he saw leave--the same car that took Mehmetcan. And from that he made the connection to the mansion with the well. And because he's the culprit... lol

Yes, Aysun was at Tilmen law. I didn't make that connection until Lacin came.

Yes, Merdan had some dire diagnosis. This was the first time he looked unwell.

Cinar proved useful but he also gave Burak info he shouldn't have. Will Ilgaz find out?

I think Burak might have been waiting to eventually witness the murders live and in person. And he could use it as a cover in case the captives were rescued. I wonder if he appeared in the basement with Neva's group.

 

Secrets #70 part 1

Haluk and Metin arrive at the station. A lawyer meets Haluk. He says, I specialize in mercantile law, not criminal law. Haluk doesn’t think it makes a difference. The lawyer suggests he find someone who knows the judges, who knows how things are done in the courthouse.

Haluk asks, what about Yekta Tilmen? [Lol… the look on Metin’s face, like he caught a whiff of something rotten] The lawyer replies, I know him, he’s an expert. Everyone knows of him. Some of his cases are used as examples in law schools. He was recently disgraced, but he’s very talented. He’s saved many people.

Ilgaz asks Eren about the search at the mansion. It’s ongoing. No camera recordings. They do live feeds in the area. Ilgaz wants a call after Burak gives his statement.

Ilgaz tries to get Ceylin to eat. The food is bad, but she’s not supposed to eat too much, too fast anyway. She can sense what Ilgaz is thinking. He can’t wait to question everyone and learn the truth. He admits it but Ceylin is the most important thing to him right now.

The doctor comes in and Ceylin asks if she can go home. Ilgaz is against it. She says she feels great. She asks the doc, do the test results show something is wrong? The doc says everything looks good. Ilgaz wants Ceylin to stay. The doc says just watch your diet and you should be fine. Ceylin wins that battle.

Pars is ready to take Burak’s statement. Haluk barges into Eren’s office. You can’t question him without a lawyer. Pars gives an hour for the lawyer to show up. Haluk is starting to irritate Eren.

Haluk calls Yekta—I need your help. I know you are a good criminal lawyer. [should have stopped at “good criminal”] Yekta replies, I’m the best! Haluk tells Yekta to come quick, it’s an emergency. Yekta laughs, it’s not a good time. I’ll call you. Haluk becomes insistent. I’ll send a driver for you.

Yekta says, I know this is a bad moment but you have to give in order to receive. I’ll send my location and you come get me yourself. See if you can convince me. He hangs up. Haluk tells Metin, let’s go. Metin thinks this is where they should part ways. Ilgaz is investigating Burak. My DIL was one of the people in that room. I don’t think I should continue to work for you.

It’s quite the opposite, Haluk replies, leaving now will look bad. Have I treated you poorly? Of course not, Metin answers. You saw Burak, Haluk says, you know him. As a former officer, do you think Burak is a murderer? Is he that kind of person?

Metin says he’s not trying to judge or blame anyone. I just don’t want to put you in an uncomfortable position. It’s the right thing to do. Haluk says he’s got nothing to hide. My grandson is the same way. Continue working for me and use your experience. We won’t have any trouble. Let’s go.

Pars watches Metin leaving with Haluk. How did he find that man? Weren’t there other jobs available? Eren said Metin had to find work. Why that man, Pars asks, how did he find him? Eren says Metin asked him to investigate Haluk. He and his company are clean. This is just a coincidence.

Pars wants to check on Burak. He asks Eren if the other victims are under police protection. Yes

Ceylin leaves the hospital. Gul wants Ceylin to come home with her. Ilgaz is a few steps away listening. Gul is very insistent. Mom, I’m an adult, Ceylin replies, I have my own life and a husband. Don’t worry about me. Ilgaz is taking great care of me. Gul quips, yes, I’ve seen his good work. Ilgaz took such great care of you that he had to rescue you from a basement. Ilgaz grumbles but doesn’t speak.

 

Secrets #70 part 2

Ceylin tries to set her mother straight. You were scared, I was scared. But I’m fine now. Don’t you think you are being hard on Ilgaz? He rescued me. You should know your daughter by now. Yes we need to be careful, but I don’t want this to affect us. She gives her mother kisses. I promise to answer the phone whenever you call. Gul hugs Ceylin.

Ilgaz tells Ceylin she can stay with her mother for a while if she wants. Especially if she’s going to worry so much. Ceylin says, I’m where I want to be, that’s with you.

Pars and Eren observe Burak through the glass. He looks pretty relaxed. Pars is impatient to get the interrogation started. He asks a cop to bring Burak water. The cop has a nosebleed and bloody tissues stuck up his nose. Gross. They still send that cop to get the water.

Ilgaz stops on the way to get something for him and Ceylin to eat. Cute scene. She hogs all the food. He reminds her what the doc said about eating. Ceylin says, let’s go to the station. No way, Ilgaz tells her. But you’re thinking about it, she replies. Maybe, he answers, but we’re going home. I’m not leaving you. She tells him, if you want to be with me, I’ll join you.

Ilcey debate. Ceylin has some good reasons for going to the station. She can give her statement. We find out the taxista’s name was Burhan. Ceylin is sure someone in the room killed him.

Haluk tells Yekta that Burak is innocent and that’s why he needs him to represent his grandson. Yekta starts talking about how serious this is. All Haluk wants is a yes or no. Yekta lets him twist a bit. Life is interesting, isn’t it? One day you turn away someone you don’t care about, and the next day you’re in desperate need of them. I could use the dignity you claimed I’d lost to make you suffer.

Yekta laughs. But I’m a generous man. I’m sorry you had to come to me in your time of need, but you came to the right place. I know what It’s like to be desperate, and to lose your only son. He’s your only grandson. I know how it feels to have your family legacy destroyed. Since you asked me to represent you… I ask that you do something for me. He hands Haluk paperwork. It’s the POA.

Haluk asks, you were expecting me? Yekta laughs again. I was considering taking on another client. He reaches to take back the POA. Haluk signs it without reading it. I’ll do whatever you want, Haluk says, we’ll each play our hands. Yekta’s back in the game.

Ceylin’s friends are surprised to see her at the station. They think she should be home resting. She says she feels great. Ilgaz says that Ceylin thinks the taxista was murdered by someone in that room. Ceylin shares her water bottle theory.

Pars says this complicates things. We have another murderer? Eren, no one leaves the hospital without our permission. Impose restrictions on visitation. Don’t let our officers leave. Let’s take Ceylin’s statement and hear what Burak has to say. Ceylin says she doesn’t think Burak is the murderer. He’s a good guy.

Osman drives the Erguvans home. He gets a call confirming his appointment with Dr. Cetin.
Yekta comes into the station and right into Eren’s office. Ceylin asks, what are you doing here? Weren’t you suspended? Yekta says a gem is always a gem. It’s worth can’t be destroyed. When someone needs me, I answer the call. I’d like to speak with my client, Burak Yildirim. Pars gives him 5 minutes.

Yekta tells Burak they don’t have much time. Don’t say a word when they question you. Those DAs will feast on you. They will stare daggers, but don’t say a word. Let me handle everything. We’ll deny all the claims and discuss the details later. Burak says this isn’t necessary. I’m innocent. I’m not a murderer, I’m a victim. I was in that room.

Pars would like Ceylin to watch Burak’s interrogation. Maybe she can pick up on something. But Pars leaves it up to Ilgaz.

Ceylin and Cinar cross paths. He tells her he’s sorry about what happened, and glad she’s okay. Ilgaz says, we found you thanks to Cinar. He provided key information.
Interrogation starts. Yekta asks, why is my client here? What is his crime? Why is he here when he should be at home resting? Why do you think he’s a murderer? Is he even a suspect?

Ilgaz gets right to the point. The family found in the well and the profiles of the group murdered later have led us to believe that someone who lost their family was recreating a family model. Ilgaz continues, Ceylin and the others who were kidnapped, their ages and genders follow the same pattern. This is not a coincidence. Yekta asks Ilgaz to get to the part that involves Burak.

Ilgaz asks Burak, when did your family die? Twelve years ago. Ilgaz says all the victims were wearing clothes that were made 12 years ago. They were all the same age as Burak’s family. Father, mother, sister, older brother and a 12 year old boy. Ilgaz asks, how old were you when your parents died? Twelve. Ilgaz says it’s too obvious to be denied. It’s you. You’re always looking to create a family for yourself.

Staring contest starts. Burak breaks up the contest. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. My family died in a fire. Yekta laughs, who came up with this imaginative story? We see Ceylin, Derya and Pars watching intently behind the glass.
Ilgaz says that Burak started the fire. You are responsible for their deaths. You felt guilty and remorseful. You’re smart. You’ve been learning about why people kill. Why they become killers and why they hurt their families.

You studied sociology, Ilgaz continues. You used a poll to select your victims. You created this game for those who said they wouldn’t kill. You search for the killer inside other people. You starve them and don’t give them water. You watch them as they turn against each other. You push them until they have no choice but to kill. Whenever someone kills, it eases your conscience.

Burak answers, I didn’t kill my family. He raises his sleeve to reveal his arm scarred from burns. I tried to save them. Yekta opines, not everyone with a trauma is crazy. Your wife lost her sister and father under sad circumstances. Is she a killer? This gets to Ceylin, she’s ready to burst into the room and show Yekta.

Ilgaz wants to know how Burak ended up in the basement. Burak replies, I saw Ceylin speaking to Mehmetcan’s lawyer. I thought she might be investigating the case. I went after her to get the story. Ceylin is busted, Pars calls her out.

Osman arrives for his appointment with Dr. Cetin. He has an approx. $82 copay and he’s ticked [but isn’t it worth it to expose the faker?]

Ceylin tells Ilgaz everything Burak said is true. Maybe you have the wrong guy. If he was the culprit, why would he join us? Why help? The knife was there most of the day, why wouldn’t he stab us? Ilgaz thinks everything Burak said fits too well. Pars thinks Ceylin could be right. Ilgaz sticks to his theory.

Yekta knocks on the glass. If you don’t have concrete evidence that proves my client is the murderer, I’ll take him away. Ceylin adds that Burak faints at the sight of blood. Is he a killer? Pars tells Ilgaz we shouldn’t get obsessed. He explained why tire tracks were there. He was there the night before. Ilgaz says he didn’t see the moto there that night.

Pars thinks perhaps Ilgaz was too tired to notice. We have nothing to connect him to the survey. There’s also the official vehicle he mentioned. We found no traces of Burak’s DNA. Ilgaz says they are not done searching the mansion yet. Pars says they need time to piece everything together, but in the meantime, they can’t keep Burak in custody. And we found Mehmetcan thanks to him.

Ilgaz says Burak might have kidnapped Mehmetcan but let him go when he realized he had amnesia. Then he called us and became a hero. We are not dealing with the average murderer. He’s sick! He’s calculating every detail. I’m sure he’s enjoying this.

Pars asks Eren to check all GPS records and test the gloves for DNA. Pars says if they find something, he will be on Ilgaz’s side. But now they have to let him go. Ilgaz walks away. Pars is upset, he wants to nail the killer, too, for Neva.

Eren tells Ilgaz they can’t find Burak’s location anywhere at the time of the incident. Of course, Ilgaz says, he put his phone in airplane mode. There’s no DNA on the glove either.
Osman meets Dr. Cetin. He’s an old, balding, overweight man.

Meanwhile, Aylin is being serenaded by fake Cetin. [Wow, they actually played a Turkish song!] He bought out the restaurant so they could have it all to themselves. I can’t stand listening to this guy. Cetin moves in for a kiss and Aylin’s phone vibrates with a call from Osman.

Burak goes free [for now]. Yekta does what he does best, toot his own horn. He speaks to the press. He thanks them for standing by their colleague, Burak. Yekta says Burak was at the site as a hardworking journalist and an honest citizen. He was kidnapped while investigating and became one of the victims. The authorities took his statement. A reporter says he heard Burak was questioned as a suspect. Speculation, Yekta quickly replies, it’s just a huge misunderstanding. The DAs have made mistakes.

Ceylin asks Ilgaz, what do we do now? Ilgaz says he has something to do and goes back inside the station. Ceylin goes to the restroom and Ilgaz watches the recording of Burak’s interrogation.

Tolga scares Ceylin as she comes from the restroom. She’s upset, he’s sorry. He has something important. I stopped by Mehmetcan’s house after you disappeared to see if he remembered anything that could help us find you. There was nothing, but his mother said he called for Neva while he slept.

Haluk has taken Yekta to a mangalbacı (barbecue) for a celebratory dinner. Yekta complains about the smell that lingers in his clothes. Haluk sweetens the celebration with what looks like a key for a car. Burak notes that the people at the station don’t like Yekta very much. Yekta says those people are not that charming either. Haluk excuses himself from the table to greet an old friend.

Yekta takes this opportunity to speak plainly to Burak. You know what really impresses me about this? Your intelligence. You’re skilled, you kept a cool head. Admirable. You’ve got it all. Burak doesn’t understand. Stop pretending, Yekta snaps. Don’t lie to someone who’s trying to help you. Especially when that person is your lawyer.

Burak still claims he doesn’t understand. Okay, Yekta replies, if you still want to play this game, then I’ll play along. Two years ago, I got a call from a client. While he searched for his cat, he saw a suspicious looking person throw something into the well. He spotted you. When he questioned you, you argued with him. He wanted to press charges, I called you, remember? You offered me a lot of money to keep this a secret and my client had a monetary need. He took the money and kept quiet.

Burak wondered when Yekta would bring that up. So you remember, Yekta replies. Burak says he has a good memory. I remember your name and your voice. Yekta says, I thought you got rid of a single body, but it turns out a whole family was there. I was surprised when I saw the remains. That wasn’t enough, though, you did it again.

Yekta points his finger and accuses—you are the murderer. Ilgaz is right, isn’t he? You killed your family. Ilgaz won’t let this go. This is only the beginning. So be honest with me. Burak admits nothing. Yekta says he has no choice, I need to tell DA Ilgaz everything I know.

Burak whispers, my grandfather can’t find out. You’re lucky that us lawyers know how to keep a secret, Yekta says. Burak responds, if you tell anyone… You’ll kill me, Yekta asks with a smile. You’re smart, you need me. You’re in luck, your enemies are my enemies. Win-win.

Yekta asks, why go into the basement when you could have fled? Burak says there was a change of plans when the cops started watching the place. First I hurt myself. Then I went inside. Yekta asks, why did you let Mehmetcan go? There was no need to hurt him, Burak replies. Yekta knows it’s because he didn’t remember Burak. Yekta says Burak is the biggest psychopath he’s met, and yet he comes across as normal. I think Burak takes that as a compliment. Haluk returns to the table. Yekta takes his leave.

Outside the restaurant, Yekta has a flashback. He’s at a public phone. He dials 112. He plays a recording into the phone: “ I’d like to report a crime. There’s a body inside a well at Erenkoy.”

Eren and Ilgaz listen to that call. Why did they say only one body?

Flashback continues. Yekta asks Serdar to buy a drone. You know where to go and what to do. Serdar expected Yekta to have a passport for him. Yekta says they are doing this to get back at those who hurt us, and to be rich again. I’ll get you the passport when I get paid. Serdar buys the drone.

Ilgaz and Eren spot the drone at the crime scene.

Aysun gives Yekta the packet he was waiting for. Drone pictures from the crime scene. Yekta is shocket at the sight of 4 bodies.

We go to Pars meeting with the bus owner. The drone is on the table. He offers to find the killer, too.

The bus owner meets with Yekta while he’s in the hospital. You were right, the owner says, I got positive cues from the AG. We gave him the footage. Yekta is certain this will work out. They will go crazy trying to find the killer. The owner says Yekta will get $250,000 when it’s over. End of flashbacks.

Yekta heads for his “new” car. Ozgur meets up with him. Congrats on your hard work, Yekta tells him, and gives him the car key. Ozgur is shocked this happened so quickly. Lesson one, if you can’t beat your enemy, give him a bigger enemy and take control. They get in the car.

Ilgaz is still looking at Burak’s footage. He goes all the way back to the beginning when Burak was waiting in the room alone. He sees the cop with the bloody nose bring water. Burak has no reaction to the blood. Ilgaz exclaims, you’re the murderer!

Ceylin is with Eren, and wondering what Ilgaz is doing. Ilgaz comes. Are you done, Ceylin asks. Not yet. He tells Eren to take Ceylin home and get Pars. Ceylin is curious and she presses, you found something and don’t want to tell us. Ilgaz says go home, we’ll talk later.

Osman is waiting for Aylin outside her house. She arrives by taxi. He tells her a married woman shouldn’t be out so late. She laughs, a married woman? We’re getting divorced. You’re still my wife, Osman replies. Yes, she says, the woman you neglected. The woman you cheated on with the relative across the street. What made you remember I’m your wife?

Osman notes she’s changed. When did you dress like this? When did you do your hair like this for me? You’re smiling now. When was the last time you smiled for me? If you hadn’t neglected me, I would have smiled, she replies, I used to dress, wear makeup, and wear perfume for my husband. You didn’t deserve it. And HE does, Osman asks. Cetin deserves it? He’s using you! He’s a liar!

Aylin calls Osman a liar. Thanks to you, I know who a liar is and isn’t. You don’t, Osman says, you’re too blind to see what is in front of your eyes. Maybe I’ve been blinded by love, she replies. That’s insane, Osman tells her, there’s no love there! Can’t you see he’s fooling you?! Want to hear the truth? I’ll tell you! You destroyed everything good in my life, Aylin says. I’m done, I’m done! I don’t care for your lies! I don’t care for you! She runs into the house. Osman yells for her to open the door.
Gul questions Aylin. It’s Osman, she says. He ruined everything.

Ilgaz shows up at Haluk’s house and wants to speak with Burak. Haluk thinks this is odd. He wants to call his lawyer. No need, Ilgaz says he’s not here on official business.. Ilgaz is shown to Burak’s room. He tells Burak this is a private conversation, it’ is not being recorded and jumps right into it. I know you are lying. About everything, especially your fear of blood.

Burak smirks, you should have come with evidence, otherwise, it’s slander. I’ll prove it soon, Ilgaz replies, don’t worry. Next time I come, I will arrest you. Burak snarks, I think you need a good rest right now. Maybe getting some sleep will help you find another suspect. That’s not the point now, Ilgaz answers, you’ll get what’s coming to you, and I’m here to warn you. So you’ll watch your steps until you are caught.

I always watch my step, Burak says, we’ll wait and see. Ilgaz warns, if you go near my wife or anyone else to hurt them, I won’t wait to find evidence and I’ll destroy you. Burak says that sounds like a threat. Ilgaz grabs Burak’s wrist. I’ve got you, young man, Ilgaz says, don’t underestimate me. I know you don’t care about anyone. You have zero empathy. I’m not like you, I’d do anything for the people I love. Understand? Ilgaz lets go and leaves.

Haluk is waiting for Ilgaz. I hope you got your answers. Ilgaz says nothing and leaves the house. Haluk asks Burak if everything is okay. He signals it’s not.

Aylin looks at pics of her and the fake on her phone. She’s sad.

Derya makes tea for herself and Pars. She says Burak seems like a decent and charming young man. Pars says he comes from a good family, has a college degree. Derya notes they’ve come across murderers who look very innocent. Pars says if this is the case here, then he got away with it. We’ve handicapped Ilgaz. There was nothing I could do. I couldn’t keep him in custody.

Derya asks Pars if he’s taken his meds. Neva set reminders on my phone for me, he replies, when it rings, I check my phone. And then I think of Neva. It hurts so much. I forget about my medication.

Eren brings Ceylin with him to Pars’ house. There’s no way for her to rest. Not with all that’s happening Anyway when she closes her eyes she gets the scent of blood. She’s not sure if that will ever change. She’s scared, what if that psycho disappears like Serdar? [someone who is not Cinar or the girls remembered Serdar!] I have two people to worry about and then there’s Yekta.

Eren says her problems are his problems, too. Serdar can’t go anywhere, he’s still in Istanbul. We’ll find him. Ilgaz shows up and they go in. Ilgaz shows everyone the recording of Burak not fainting at the sight of blood. Ceylin says Burak almost fainted in the basement from the sight of blood. Eren adds, and he fainted when we entered.

He was acting, Derya says. Like he does in every aspect of his life, Ilgaz replies. Burak is the murderer. He told Cinar he was broke. We know his family is wealthy. If we investigate, I’m sure we’ll learn more.

Ceylin asks, does that mean he’s a murderer? Ilgaz says this isn’t an average lie. He created a persona to carefully carry out his plan. He’s hardworking, goes to school, he’s a good Samaritan. No one has a single bad thing to say about him.

Pars agrees with Ilgaz. Humans hide their wickedness behind an innocent face. Ilgaz says Burak is smart and that’s why no one ever suspected him. He helped others after going in the basement. He thought his victims would change our minds, ensuring his success. Burak is the murderer! I’m sure he’s the person we’re looking for.

Lacin has a list of doctors who might be able to help Yekta. She wants to schedule appointments. Yekta is disinterested. He’s saved by a phone call from Haluk, who tells him Ilgaz came to the house. He met with Burak in private and threatened him. Yekta asks if there was physical contact. You have cameras? Do you have recordings? Burak says Ilgaz touched him. Yekta says he will be right over and they will report the attack.

Pars wants to go to the mansion immediately. Ilgaz says we can’t let him (Burak) go abroad. His grandfather is rich. Derya stops them from leaving. She says they haven’t slept in days. Pars' hands are shaking and Ilgaz’s eyes are bloodshot. She asks Eren, when was the last time you were home? You want to keep going? I don’t know whether to praise you or reprimand you. We all need to rest.

Ilgaz objects. While the murderer walks free? Yes, Derya responds, we need to keep clear heads to capture him. We need our strength and ability to think clearly. We know how smart he is. Ilgaz, you’ve been through hell. Your wife needs to sleep by your side. Think of her.

Derya asks for the time. It’s eleven. She tells everyone see you at 8a. Go home, eat, take a shower. Get some rest. Ceylin says Derya is right. Ceylin suddenly recalls that Mehmetcan called out for Neva in his sleep. He might be starting to remember. How did you find out, Ilgaz asks. Pars quips it was her friend Tolga.

Ilgaz asks Pars if he could be the DA on this case even though his wife is involved. And as her husband, he’s got questions too. Pars says it’s okay. Before she leaves, Pars offers an apology to Ceylin. He says, I lost my head. I made a big mistake. I was wrong. I regret talking to the press. I wish I hadn’t. That’s why he went after you. It’s my fault someone became a murderer.

Ceylin tells Pars that isn’t true. I was being Ceylin on social media, too. You weren’t the only one who upset him. Ilgaz says blame doesn’t matter now. It’s over. Let’s stick together and stay strong. They leave.

Derya gathers her things to go. Pars stops her. She asks, should I stay? It would be nice, Pars replies. What would be nice, she asks. Pars says, don’t go. She gives him a hug and says, I won’t go.

Eren mentions Tugce to Ilcey. He doesn’t know if he’s her roommate or her father. He said he hasn’t been home if a few days. [Did anything happen with that parental claim?] Ilgaz wants a cop to tail Burak. And have someone assigned to watch my house and Ceylin 24/7.

Ilcey drive. She asks if he’s going to ask about Tolga. He will. She says she had the best intentions… Ilgaz interrupts—not now, I’m tired. She asks, can I apologize for something else? I didn’t believe you and stood up for Burak. But as always, you are right. How do you do it? How do you avoid making mistakes? [I think he made one by going to Burak]

 

secrets #70 part 8

I look for things that aren’t entirely obvious, Ilgaz replies. I trust my instincts and listen to my heart. As we grow older, our experiences add to our cumulative knowledge. Some do good with it, others do the opposite. Like Burak. He’s a good example.
Ilgaz sends Ceylin into the house while he talks to the cop, Ismail, who’s on guard. Ilgaz runs into Ayten. He tells her the cop will be there a while for protection.

Bedtime. Ceylin says she feels thankful. Ilgaz has her necklace in his hand. She put it in her pants pocket. I knew you’d recognize my clothes. I thought if you saw it, you’d know I was alive. You were thinking of me then, Ilgaz asks. You were my only hope, Ceylin replies. She asks him to put the necklace on her. [I went online to find out about the necklace, it’s the Tree of Life. I bet they sold a lot of these after the show aired.]

Ilgaz has a confession to make. I did something I shouldn’t have. [Yep, he pulled a Ceylin move] I went to see Burak. She’s surprised and a little upset. I did it, he says, and I don’t regret it. I wanted him to know I’m going after him. So he won’t hurt you or anyone else again.

Ceylin notes he could get in trouble. This is my fault, she says, you’re starting to behave like me, and it scares me. [I’ve believed from the start that she’s ruining Ilgaz] This isn’t like you. I lose my cool, but you don’t. Don’t start taking after me. Stay the way you are! Don’t let your fear of going down without a fight destroy us. We’ll get through this.

Ilgaz has a nightmare. The mansion. He follows Ceylin there. He calls for her as he walks through the house. It’s dark. A glove? Photo of Ilcey? Crying Gul appears. Serdar. Do I hear a baby crying? Did he find Ceylin’s necklace? When he picked it up it disappeared. He sees his mother’s grave. Ceylin calls him. He heads to the basement. There’s the knife. A hand on his shoulder, it’s a smiling Burak.

Defne brings breakfast and a kiss to sleeping Ceylin. Ceylin asks for another kiss. Defne says she wasn’t able to sleep, she was scared. I’m here now, Ceylin replies. Defne says she made the breakfast herself. The crepe has a smiley face. The juice is fresh. Ilgaz comes in and asks, nothing for me? It’s for Ceylin. I’ll make you something later, Defne says. The doorbell rings. We don’t see who is there.

Gul is waiting for Osman. He tells her he spoke with Aylin yesterday. Gul asks, did you treat her badly? Osman says no, how could she think that. She says, you turned to me in desperation, asked for my help. You said you still loved her. You’re my granddaughter’s father. I couldn’t stand to see you like that. I spied on her for you. If I ever see my daughter cry again because of you, I swear to God, I’m going to have to kill you.

And we are out.

Ilgaz definitely wanted Ceylin to stay in the hospital for a good long while. That way he can focus and stop worrying about whatever crazy thing she'll do next!

Loved "should have stopped at criminal".

HATE, HATE, HATE seeing Yekta starting to win again. He manipulates Haluk into coming to see him. Some of it is payback for refusing his services before. Also, he couldn't have made that move when he was in the basement. Now he can pretend Lacin's house is his.

In this episode all roads lead to Yekta (and Burak, of course). As I've said before, I get a bit exasperated with all the flashback reveals. The whole drone, Serdar, bus company plot was scripted by Yekta. We had gloried in seeing him on buses and living in squalor. You were rght, dondi, in saying he'd be back on top. So he knows all about Burak and is willing to represent him and help him even though he knows everything? Yikes!

These people are so frustrating. Instead of speaking right up about his visit to the real Dr. Cetin, Osman starts up a jealous rant about how attractive and happy she looks now.

Apparently Pars told Derya about his epilepsy. That sort of surprised me.

It does sound like Tugce is living with Eren, at least part time. That's good news. Now if she'd only tell him about what they've discovered about Serdar.

AMEN on Ilgaz making a big mistake confronting Burak before he had time to put the evidence together.

I liked Derya being the voice of reason and insisting that they all take a break.

Agree with novelera that Osman wasted an opportunity to tell Aylin about his findings. Let's see how he manages with Gul. Knowing Gul, she will just "go on and on .." so good luck!

It seems like a lot of trouble to woo Aylin. I can't imagine why. There must be easier ways to accomplish whatever the goal is.
