ETERNAMENTE #76

What an episode! So much happened.

The notes will be up tomorrow morning some time.

OT

LOL Diana, unfortunately they did not.
Better luck next time with Gibraltar!

Today's recap will be up later than usual. I didn't get a chance to watch yesterday so now I have to watch + recap.

Minas de Pasión, Capítulo 8, Jueves, 7 de Septiembre, 2023

Home is where the heart is - Part 1/3

Some scenes are combined.

Emilia screams both to Seb and to Leo to stop. They don't, so she just leaves LOL. After Leo and Seb finish their fight, Leo tells the the rest of the miners, who were cheering, to get back to work. He tells Seb to be grateful of what he has and they almost start fighting again.

Roberta enters Fidel's office, annoyed. She says she wants his help. He mocks her "La Patrona wants MY help?" LOL

Jenny tells Mau she doesn't want him anymore (go girl!) Mau tries to win her back hard, because he remembers Ignacio didn't leave him anything important. Jenny tells him she has suffered for him and asks him to get out. Afterwards, Berta screams to Jenny about letting him go and runs behind him. She blames Jenny's reaction to grieving I think and says she wants them to be together and she'll handle this. (Berta is beyond annoying at this point. If she likes Mau so much, SHE should marry him to get her stupid so-called "class" and leave us alone. Although you don't get class from marriage; either you're classy or you're not. Guess which category Berta is in.)

Roberta and Fidel are kissing. Roberta apparently told him some plan she has (we don't hear it) to ruin someone's life, supposedly Emilia's. Her phone rings; it's Patricio. He tells her it's urgent, Leo and Seb fought over Emilia. Roberta starts the "minera mugrosa" (filthy miner) talk again. Ugh.

Marijó tells Gael she's forced to go to Canadá. He tells her not to cry; he doesn't want to see her eyes like this. The almost kiss when Joaquina screams Marijó's name - talk about HORRIBLE timing! Marijó runs out of the wooden house she has outside and talks with Joaquina, nothing new. Marijó still can't explain her father's sudden death, she and Joaquina hug and Joaquina flashbacks to Roberta's first tea-bullying session.

Orlando suspends Ezequiel and says that Leo settled Tigre's case I think. (Although, some scenes later, it's like Ezequiel didn't get suspended... Huh?)

Zaira is angry at Tigre for putting Emi's house up for collateral. (Interesting expression: en qué cabeza cabe - in which head fits (literally) and then the part about Emi's house.) Tigre says he thought he'd be able to pay back the loan and he'll go ask La Patrona. Zaira isn't a huge fan of this idea and says she has to do more witchcraft on him when he gets back LOL

Seb tries to explain to Emi why he fought with Leo. Emi isn't really open to listing. They mention some tonta mentira (stupid lie), maybe about them being a couple? I don't know, I didn't have any subtitles the whole episode, I had to go only with what I caught.

Sara bullies that woman, who she calls "Lolita" (so her name is Dolores? I thought she was that Doña Alicia!), about the coffee she brought. Leo comes in, she sees he was hit badly and they get into a fight about Seb and Emi. Leo says he will give Seb his job back (really dude? After today's behavior? I wouldn't). We finally learn his position in the company: he was head of HR, the position Sara has now, so Leo is basically firing her. (How long did she last, a day or two?) Sara of course doesn't take this so well and starts badmouthing Emilia.

A few questions about Seb: 1) it's hard to imagine anyone in this pueblo to be qualified enough for the HR position. Is there a university? It doesn't look like it and 2) It's normal in this company the head of HR to sign papers from the department of mine security? ¿Qué? Isn't there a supplies department or something? How was the "Seb was the one who signed" scam believable?

Home is where the heart is - Part 2/3

Roberta has paid a visit to Ignacio's notary, which, guessing by their conversation, is the only notary in San Lorenzo. She says he didn't help her, he helped Ignacio and not LA PATRONA, so he has to pay. She shows him the picture of the much younger woman he was with. Well, now we learn her age too... Ready to get disgusted, everyone? She's 15. Roberta has already uploaded the picture on social media, so everyone, including his kids, will see that he's a pedophile. (There was something confusing; at one point, the notary said that he doesn't know this girl, but then didn't deny he's a pedo. But last time, he didn't deny knowing this girl either. ¿Qué? Did Roberta make up another one and showed him 2 pictures or something?)

Jennifer has had her nails done and Berta tells her she should do them like this for the wedding. Jenny asks her "What part of 'Me and Mau broke up' don't you understand?" Berta says that she can manage to marry him if she tries or something, while eating a biscuit. Wow, that's one way to show the other person you care: do something else and not even look at them. After Berta leaves (us alone), Jenny calls Orlando. She tells him she's not well and wants to talk. He agrees to meet her.

His father, Fidel, walks in. He tells him they have a "junta" (which means a meeting, but he's holding the justice statue, the one who's seen outside of courts...) tomorrow (? I don't remember exactly). He pretty much tells Orlando to be more disciplined and to be his pawn, I mean, to be there when he (Fidel) wants him to.

Marijó paints a picture of Ignacio. Roberta gets in her room and tell her, for the millionth time, that she's going to Canadá and she should pack her bags. Marijó thinks back to something Gael told her, "I wouldn't stay in a house where they mistreat me" (how did I miss that last time?) and says out loud (after Roberta left) something about being as brave as Gael. "I wish I was as brave as you, Gael?" "I'm going to be brave like you, Gael?" Something like that. I definitely heard "... valiente como tú, Gael". She starts packing her bags.

Tigre goes to Roberta's house. Joaquina greets him, Roberta gets down the stairs and Tigre tells her about his and Ignacio's partnership with la Cueva del Diablo and the money transfer.

(I had bad audio here and bad audio + no subtitles is torture.) Leo is outside of the mines but I think he's not properly dressed to get in. He says he just needs boots and Patricio removes his. Emi asks what's going on here and they (Emi and Leo) fight about Leo's clothes. She says something about expensive clothes (ropa cara) and Leo removes his shirt. Emilia looks around awkwardly. More gratuitous shirtlessness... Definitely not a problem ;) Jk.

Roberta asks for a contrato as proof. Tigre, who apparently doesn't exactly have many brain cells, says this is the only paper that proves their partnership and he needs the money about a collateral he has. Roberta says he could have been paying back Ignacio for something and refuses. She tells him to leave and not bother her again.

Leo puts on the miner's vest. He's crazy enough to get in the mines only with the vest, no shirt on.

Marijó goes to Gael's house. Zaira, holding a rooster, opens the door, she asks for Gael. Gael comes, holding that one pig who has starred in all episodes (I was furious when I saw it isn't listed in the credits. What kind of specie racism is that? That pig has had more screen time than all the kids combined). Marijó tells him she ran away from home and wants to stay here. (Is today a "bring a farm animal to home day"? They should inform Tigre so he brings a goat on his way home.)

Minas de Pasión, Capítulo 8, Jueves, 7 de Septiembre, 2023

Home is where the heart is - Part 3/3

Roberta bullies Joaquina for not knowing where Marijó is, when tomorrow she's going to Canadá. After she leaves, Joaquina calls her, no answer. She leaves her a message, telling her she has to come home or at least tell her where she is.

Zaira, STILL holding the rooster, listens to Gael saying Marijó saved his life. After a bit of conversation, Zaira gives some pesos to Gael and tells him to go buy something. When he lives, she lets Marijó stay in the house. Marijó hugs her.

Jennifer and Orlando are in a cafeteria together. She whines about Mau and Emilia and he tells her he has mistreated her many times. He's not going to change. He adds that if she's feeling happy with someone, if he makes her want to be a better person, if she wants to live her life with him, she's in love. Jenny says she has never felt this way with anyone. Berta, who if I understood correctly is sitting in a near table, calls Mau and tells him to come soon, it's urgent.

Some woman (could that be the real Alicia?) is looking after Nico. He goes to the bathroom and sees a bruise on his torso. He flashbacks to a day when he was at school; his bullies hitting him. Back to the present, he asks that woman for a cellphone and says he needs it for "homework". She gives him a phone. He actually calls Sebas and tells him he has an idea in order for him to be his dad. Ugh.

Tigre is at the police station but no one helps him to get the money back. Ezequiel comes in and starts talking, but he's so difficult to understand when he's eating at the same time. I literally didn't understand anything from that scene. Tigre leaves and hits the paper bag Ezequiel has his food in for good measure LOL. Don't forget the goat, Tigre!

Zaira says she doesn't want to have problems with La Patrona. Marijó tells her La Patrona doesn't know she's here and says about her mom passing away some years ago.

La Patrona and Sara, the two harpies, start whining about Leo and Emi getting close. They need a plan to make Leo leave San Lorenzo and go back to the capital with Sara.

Emi and Leo are in the mines together. Some rocks fall AGAIN and Leo pushes Emi out of the way. He repeats the "souls being tied for eternity" stuff and they KISS!

And with our protagonistas kissing, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Minas Recapping

For today's (Friday's episode) recap: It might be posted on Sunday instead of Saturday. I'm not sure, because I have a weird schedule, but it's a possibility.

Once again, help is always appreciated: if anyone wants to help, feel free to do so, whether that's a recap, a smaller recap or highlights. Just tell me when you're able to and we'll figure out a recapping schedule, either weekly or permanent.

Tierra de Esperanza 9/7/23
Episode 27/28: Notes; Part 1 of 2

Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Can someone else step in regularly for Mondays and Wednesdays, please?

What I remember from Episode 27:

--- Valentina heard from Cris that Maria Teresa was going to marry Aldo.
--- Aldo tried to pull rank on Santos but Maria Teresa did not stop him.
--- Camila tried to get Marco to talk about the river but he only looked suspicious.
---***IMPORTANT: Rut went to La Esperanza and grabbed Bernarda from behind. She tried to make him leave and did not want to tell her daughters what happened years ago. He has a scar on his left hand from that incident. He tried grabbing her again but she got away. She later had a flashback to the incident. She had used a broken glass item to injure him.***
--- After Rut showed disrespect to Maria Teresa Aldo demanded that he leave, He later referred to everyone else as savages.
--- Bernarda would not allow a relationship between Santos and Valentina. She laid down the law to Valentina later on and they fought about it.
--- Remedios told Camila about Marco's past and why he cannot love. All his relationships are about gaining something from and/or hurting others.
--- We learn that Clemente is 22.
--- Clemente explained the river to Camila. Important here is the other side leads to a path out of the country. She seems to have gotten it.
--- Valentina came to Santos' place with a suitcase. He was shocked and said this was not right.
--- Norma put on the sexy dress and made Italian food for Rut.

#28

Adriana wanted to know everything about La Soltera. Marco handed her a bunch of files with the attitude that she wasn't intelligent enough to understand them. He later needled her about the details and she walked out on him.

Bernarda had a shotgun in hand when Santos arrived at her place to talk about Valentina.

Norma and Rut looked like they were going to get it on, but he fell out of the mood when she mentioned being concerned about Clemente hearing them [The dear boy wasn't even yet home].

Santos tried to convince Bernarda to trust her daughters but she refused to trust him.

Aldo set a candlelit table outside the hacienda. He wore a lilac-colored jacket.

Bernarda got Santos alone and explained what had happened to her years ago.

Aldo segued from talking about the ranch to talking about the wedding. She said a civil one in the city and the religious one at the ranch.

Bernarda finished her story without telling Santos that it was Rut. He promised to protect her and her daughters. She then broke down and approved his relationship with Valentina. [Here's hoping he never boinks Valentina.]

Tierra de Esperanza 9/7/23
Episode 27/28: Notes; Part 2 of 2

Advisory: This is what I can write down during one viewing. Can someone else step in regularly for Mondays and Wednesdays, please?

Aldo wanted to invite Marco and Adriana to the civil ceremony. Maria Teresa looked a little overwhelmed.

Clemente got home and found Norma at the dining table. He realized she had not married for love, etc. She said it didn't matter and went to the kitchen to get dinner for him. We notice that she had removed her makeup.

Valentina and Santos talked and he said she needed to make up with her mother. She complied.

Maria Teresa called her father to tell hi the civil ceremony would be next week. He was happy but she wasn't.

Marco and the Jackal talked about messing with La Esperanza's cows and crops.. This involved injections 48 hours before milking. [Anyone here caught any more details?]

Valentina begged her mother to give this a chance. Bernarda told her that her own silence about the past was for her and Regina's good. She later explained having been attacked and that it hurt both physically and emotionally.

Pepe was given the evil task of injecting the cows.

Norma woke up alone the next morning; Rut said he had slept in the guest room.

The tractor arrived at La Esperanza while Santos and Cris were feeding the cows.

Valentina told Regina about their mother's rape. She had concluded that they had different sperm donors. Bernarda came out of the house and Valentina went to see the cows.

Clemente questioned Pedro about the river and what he'd seen there.

Rut's hand shook in the office as he tried sipping his morning coffee. Trejo noticed the scar.

Santos walked in on Aldo kissing Maria Teresa. He told them all was well with the cows and the hens. Aldo very officiously told him he and Maria Teresa were getting married in the city and ordered him to get back to work.

Rut provided no details and said he was a very private person only saying “someday she will pay.”

Norma went back to her book club which was a little frosty to her until Adriana arrived. She told them that in view of what had been going on lately they needed to unite. All agreed and she passed out copies of the next book.

Clemente went to La Esperanza and explained that the investigation into the attack was ongoing. Maria Teresa said he could come anytime.

Norma told Adriana how her plan flopped the night before. She wondered whether Rut went to prostitutes. Adriana bluffed her way out of that one.

Santos warned Clemente about Bernarda. Clemente told Santos he intended to address Bernarda.

Adriana told Remedios she wanted Maria Teresa to marry Aldo and get a new capataz, saying Santos' days at La Esperanza were numbered. Remedios was understandably offended.

Maria Teresa talked to Esteban who told her everything was ready. Aldo invited Marco and Adriana; Marco accepted on their behalf.

Valentina told Santos her mother accepted their relationship. He looked uneasy but she did not see that.

MINAS

Weirdo,

Your recap was delightful, your humor, the vocabulary, your tongue in cheek commentary. I savored every single amazing word! Just fabulous start to finish.

“More gratuitous shirtlessness... Definitely not a problem ;) Jk” No, not a problem at all. A bit of fun and fluff. More please.

“Although you don't get class from marriage; either you're classy or you're not. Guess which category Berta is in.)”. Yes, we realize…😊

(Is today a "bring a farm animal to home day"? They should inform Tigre so he brings a goat on his way home.)” had me laughing out loud. I always liked Cynthia Klitbo but her holding and petting the chicken in her arms would melt the coldest heart. An actress who plays angel, devil and everything in between with equal ease.

Poor Nico, bruised, beaten and bullied. No wonder he wants tall, strong Sebas as his father. The child needs protection. Emilia loves her son but she needs to be more aware of what is going on with him.
Orlando is so handsome I have a hard time trying to concentrate on what he is saying. It’s absurd of course that he is smitten with Jennifer who is a whiner of immense proportions.

Tigre REALLY thought La Patrona was going to help him??

Weirdo, thank you for starting my day off so splendidly.

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS "Do You Have PROOF?" Page one

Notes from the couch . . . this episode was so very good . . .

FERNANDO is arrested as the president and legal representative of the Iturbide Company because they found an Iturbide truck loaded with illegal drugs headed to Cancún. Rogelio and Fidel meet with one police official while Fernando is taken to be interrogated. Fidel says that it sounds like somebody orchestrated this event to involve the Iturbide family. The police official tells him that he needs to be very careful about what he is speculating about without having any PROOF. This is not a local issue and will be handled by the Feds. Fernando will be held in custody until they can investigate the crime and his legal situation can be determined. Fidel asks how they discovered the truck was carrying drugs. He is told that there was an **anonymous** tip. Fernando is being interrogated by another official and insists that nobody was ever authorized to transport illegal drugs. The official informs him that they have his signature in the log book for the transport. (Interesting, because later it seems that Fernando never signed anything) Fernando gets argumentative and is informed that he is on the police official's turf now and he will be calling the shots. Much to everyone's horror!!!!, Fernando is told that since he is being accused of a federal crime, he will be transferred to the Feds in Mexico City.

When he is jailed, Ignacio pops by to further poison Fernando's mind against Rogelio by telling him all about how Rogelio contacted this bad guy Carmelo who Ignacio knew from prison in order to find some dirt on him to try to get rid of him. Carmelo is a tough guy who deals in stolen items and illegal substances. Anyway, in the process, Rogelio humiliated the guy so Carmelo could be the guy who planted the drugs. He might want to ask Rogelio about him. Rogelio visits his brother to tell him about their precarious financial situation. Fernando blames him for EVERYTHING repeating what Ignacio told him about Carmelo. He sees himself as a martyr paying for Rogelio's mistakes ONE MORE TIME. Later, a video of the worker changing the label on the packages in question surfaces. He is a relatively new hires and they are out looking of him.

DO YOU HAVE PROOF? IImelda tells Rogelio about the cryptic comment that Ignacio made at the reception. Fidel suggests that Carmelo might be involved. Rogelio thanks them both but unless they have PROOF, they have nothing.

THE PRESS AND BANKRUPTCY go hand in hand. The press is on the Iturbide story from the get go. Their situation is the local SCANDAL of the year. They even get a bit of a "perp walk" when Fernando is transferred out of Morelia to Mexico City. Rogelio makes a recording assuring the public that it will be proven that the company is clean. Unfortunately for the Iturbide family, nothing helps and the bad press drives down their company's stock prices to nothing.

IGNACIO fancies himself to be an avenging angel in his own twisted little mind. Imelda goes to see him begging him to do something to help Fernando who always has trusted him. She reminds him about him telling her that he had plans for Rogelio. Is this what he meant? Ignacio asks her if she has PROOF? Of course she doesn't. Ignacio bluntly tells her that Fernando can ask his big brother for help. She tells Ignacio he is a piece of garbage.

ETERNAMENTE Page two

Cecilia tells Ignacio about the Iturbides being bankrupt and he acts surprised. His response is "Arrogance can end all riches from one moment to the next." Cecilia meekly suggests that Ignacio looks like he could be enjoying the Iturbides' situation . . . just a little bit. Cannot he help them out??? Ignacio answers that he would if he could but he can't. He also suggests that it might be better for them if they distanced themselves from the Iturbides so they "aren't tainted from the stink" (my words not his) Cecilia insists on supporting her "family." Little does Ignacio know that Cecilia is two months pregnant. She has already told Eva and Paula.

BANKRUPTCY hits the Iturbide family full force. Imelda's father is off the rails having used all of his savings to purchase those shares that Imelda wanted. How is the Iturbide family going to pay him back. He is broke! All of the company accounts are frozen. Rogelio sits down with Fidel and tries to figure out how everyone will be paid out of the family members' personal accounts. Of course, there is more of a looming problem than frozen company accounts. When Fernando started the rapid messenger division, he took out a massive loan to purchase the trucks that would be needed. The payment to the bank is coming due and they will not give the Iturbide company any time to try to consolidate their financial situation. Gabriel has the unpleasant task of telling the Iturbides that tomorrow, their property will start being auctioned off to meet the loan payment. Martina supposes that the offices in Mexico City will be auctioned off. Gabriel says no. The first piece of property to be auctioned will be Villa Morelia. Martina insists that cannot be because the Villa was never an asset of the company. Rogelio has to contradict her. (Dear Hipólito had another secret from her ) Years ago, his father decided to include the Villa in the company's assets under the advice of some administrator.

EVERYTHING ELSE

IMELDA is suddenly totally in love with Fernando. Was it due to Martina's little lecture?

MARTINA is suffering from high blood pressure and the stress from the bankruptcy isn't helping.

Marco and Blanca have finished their first hotel on wheels. They want to see it tour towns outside of Morelia and Lake Pátzcuaro. Blanca is going to advertise it on the internet.

Please feel free to add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, you must be psychic knowing that Ceciia was pregnant already yesterday!!! ; )

Could they stuff any more action into their episode?

Sorry, but as for Cecilia, how many ways can you spell stupid?

Will Marco and Blanca become the financial saviors of the family with their hotel on wheels? At least Marco still has a job at the garage. he never gave that up even when he started working at teh family company.

TIERRA

Urban, thank you for all of the excellent, insightful details.

“Rut's hand shook in the office as he tried sipping his morning coffee”. We can only hope a stroke is in the offing. He is disgusting. Poor Bernarda!

I was hoping Pepe didn’t do anything to the cows! He looked appalled but..

Norma might as well have not bothered to put on the sexy dress because she looked like the same, expressionless plain Jane she always does! Hair pulled back but it had no style or flair unlike Adriana who’s always perfectly coiffed. She emanates no warmth or vibrancy.

Is it just me or are Santos’ sideburns looking very unbecoming?

Marco is giving off such slimy vibes but Maria Teresa looks completely unaware. I’m starting to think it’s going to be up to him to stop the civil ceremony which is fast approaching. Neither Maria Teresa or Santos is willing to give an inch and it seems she is stubbornly going to marry Aldo.

Adriana, Aldo and Marco all want Santos gone! There is no spoken alliance but there might as well be. Tough times ahead.

Aldo and his wardrobe of pristine white and light, summery colors makes me shake my head. Good heavens man TRY not to stick out like a sore thumb.

Diana

Eternamente #76

Gracias, Jarifa.

I can't think of anything missing.

Cecelia getting pregnant almost seemed inevitable after all the times she took scumbag Ignacio back. Now she will have him in her life until he or she dies. What if the crying baby sets him off?

If Morelia is so unforgiving of people marrying out of their class and of scandals like this I can't see Marco's idea getting off the ground. I expect that any investors in it will bail. All they have right now is the prototype.

Does Imelda really love Fernando? I really need proof of that.

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa. I'm in awe of how you can capture all the action so quickly.

Imelda - is it love for Fernando, or is it the loss of her dream to be the Monarch that's got her worked up?

Cecilia - Having a baby with an angry, hot fuse who has no empathy for others. She is tough to watch.

Being alone in a jail cell hasn't improved Fernando's thinking.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, oh my this was action packed! Did anyone actually take a breath?? You did your always sensational job of capturing exactly what we needed to know as well as providing all the fascinating and powerful “asides”. As always, seamlessly written.

Redemption isn’t immediate and is usually a work in progress. That said, shockingly Imelda is hurling down that track. I agree Jarifa, it must have been Martina’s words that impacted her to the point of a complete character metamorphosis. And yes, it does seem she now loves Fernando…

Fernando is the one who brought Ignacio the viper into the nest but did so with good intentions. And now Ignacio has thrown him into the pit. “He also suggests that it might be better for them if they distanced themselves from the Iturbides so they "aren't tainted from the stink" (my words not his)”. Ignacio, the lone wolf has now masterminded the Iturbide downfall perfectly.

Cecilia already telling Paula and Eva and NOT telling Ignacio about the pregnancy will not bode well. A good person but weak willed and pliable.

Yes, I think Marco and Blanca will definitely be a huge help in the monumental task of trying to get the family back on their feet. Losing her home will be incredibly heartbreaking for Martina. The fact Gabriel is involved is going to be devastating!

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Urban, yep, Cecilia took him back one too many times and, as every female in the novela, never thought of birth control. "What if the crying baby sets him off?" Great question! Too bad that abortion is never a viable option in these novelas. Looks like the last two (in the main cast) who could end up pregnant are Felipa and Blanca.

Niecie, Fernando is such a loser. How old is he?? and still blaming his older brother for his own shortcomings? Give me a break!

Diana, "Losing her home will be incredibly heartbreaking for Martina". i cannot believe that the auction is happening the next day. Where will the family and their belongings go? That being said, might this end up being a chance for the adult children in the household to finally find a place of their own. I wonder if Luis will cancel his plans to move to LA with this latest crisis.

Eternamente

Wow, Jarifa, it was an action-packed episode and you captured it all!!! This definitely would have been better than watching the Chiefs lose....not a great start to the season. Although (and I might get kicked out of fandom for admitting this) I'm kind of happy for the rookie who got to get an interception of the NFL MVP and return it for a touchdown in his first NFL game!!! That must have been an amazing feeling!

Okay on to less than amazing feelings. Oh, the drama! I was surprised Igy didn't boast right away of his win but being smart and caggy instead. I agree with you about Fernando, blaming Rogelio was immature, just waiting til he finds out Ignacio did it!!

I do think Imelda loves Fernando and I don't think it's as recent as she might think, I've think she's loved him in her own selfish and unhealthy way since the beginning and now she's realizing it. Whether or not she can get past selfish and unhealthy remains to be seen.

I also think Marco's idea is a good one. Although, it's a good point that it could tank simply for being associated with the family name. My mom was fascinated by small houses and bus houses and stuff like that and always watching Youtube video after video after video; it's a lot more popular than I would have thought and I bet there would be a market for traveling hotels.

Not surprised Cecila is pregnant but it's disappointing. I actually think she may have thought of birth control considering this is her first pregnancy and several of the others are on baby number 2 already but who knows...either way the baby is here now. Speaking of babies, I don't remember if I mentioned this but my youngest sister is pregnant right now and actually past her due date so we are on baby watch, I called her a slacker yesterday, but it didn't do anything to change the lack of labor, lol.

Eternamente #76

One thing that bugs me about the pregnancy thing in this story is how nobody is addressing the issue of Felipa's weight. Many women who are that overweight are told they need to trim down because they are seriously at risk of heart problems as they are; pregnancy would only make that risk worse.

Fernando is the least intelligent of the brothers. The only one with no original ideas and the worst taste in women.

Minas

Thank you Weirdo!! I am almost caught up and am watching last night's episode as I type but I already read your wonderful, funny recap!

I wanted to note, after watching the last two episodes, Sebas did tell Nico that he wished he was dating Emilia - not that he was. That was the part he told Nico to keep a secret, the fact that he wanted to date Emilia.

I totally agree with you about Sebas not deserving his job back. Only an idiot gets into a fight with the boss over something that isn't even happening because of jealousy. Defending his fake relationship?? LOL Both Sebas and Sara sounded ridiculous insisting that Leo and Emilia stay away from their significant others, but it's a novela staple, of course.

I am so confused by the family dynamics in Leo's family. I thought Leo and Mau were brothers, but Mau said something like 'you're not my brother' to Leo. They have to be brothers, right? I understand now why Ignacio didn't recognize Mau as it was said that Mau never accepted him as a father....so Leo and Mau are both Roberta's sons and they have the same or different fathers??? And Marijo is of course their step-sister.

Tigre never should have gone to Roberto about the business stuff. He needs to talk to Leo.

I'm with you at the 'Orlando is so handsome' table Diana!!! I actually find Mau extremely handsome too, to bad he's a bad guy.

Minas

About the head of HR job, I've seen enough examples of education vs. on-the-job experience to be convinced that a university degree isn't the live all end all answer to whether or not one is qualified for the job, but it's a good point that the head of HR wouldn't be signing off on any security papers. Leo firing Sara was so funny!!

The beginning was so good! I was cheering when Jenifer said she is sick of Mauricio. But then if her mum gets involved, she most probably will give in. Orlando is right,'is it worthsetting aside your dignity?' I asume Berta doesn't know Mauricio hasn't inherited much. But I hope she finds it out soonWith Orlando being so nice to Jen, at least we have a situation where a guy loves someone who isn't especially nice. Otherwise it wuld be just women loving assholes.
I wanted to cover my ears when Tiger started going on abouthow he had a deal wwith Ignacio. 'no proof, but it's true, I swear.' Why did they have to make him so stupid? La patrona was right when she said there's a fine line between stupidity and idealism. In Tiger's case it's the former. It's ridiculous he thinks she will just decide to be 'fair' and return him the money.
I loved Emilia telling them,'so kill each other then' when those two were fighting. I wonder what explanation Seb would have given her. I was a bit surprised she didn't listen and just said he didn't have to explain anything to her. She is right that fake boyfriend business was a mistake. Even if he felt nothing for her, it would still be wrong in my opinion because it's not like she gave him a choice. In a way it's convenient for her that she is in love because this way she knows he won't refuse/deny. It irritates me when protagonistas use this trick. It's just so stupid.
I thought Marijo had more sense. How does she think she'd be allowed to stay in that house? And it's a pueblo, nota city, Mari. They'll find you. Why didn't she run off to Leo? Why didn't he even think of her? Surely he realises Roberta doesn't have M's best interests in mind.
Oh and justice for the pig! I laughed out loud at that part.

Minas

Weirdo , thank you for a great account of all the drama,.

Oswald is a true galan . I liked his reaction to Emila . ..he just took hos shirt off and put on the vest. That was kind of cute . He also knows how to kiss .

Sara seems to think that yelling at Leo will keep him with her . Yeah that always works on guys ...yelling and threatening. Will Sara leave now that Leo gave the HR job back to Seb? Leo is not hiding how annoying he finds Sara .

Roberta is going to pitch a fit when she finds out Marijo is at Zaira's house . Zaire, the good witch, and Roberta the bad witch.

Diana, yes, Orlando is very handsome He reminds me a bit of my old telenovio Mauricio De Cordoba . He seems smitten by cranky Jennifer ( again...why?) I didn't realize that Fidel is his father . Do we know what Orlando's position is in the police station?

Minas

I still suspect Orlando may be gay and not smitten with Jennifer. I get bestfriend vibes from them, not love vibes. I might be wrong. But when Jen said that Orlando sounded like the one in love, she asked him who the lucky one is and it sounded like she said 'afortunado' (masculine) and not 'afortunada' (feminine). Also, when Berta called and told Mau he better get down there fast, he asked what was happening and Berta said Orlando wasn't a danger but it was just an opportunity for Mau. Why did she say he wasn't a danger? A super handsome employeed man who was smitten with her daughter would definitely be a danger (to her way of thinking) but a gay bestfriend wouldn't.

Tierra

I am going to catch up on this next but not til later today because I got a few things to do. I am sort of procrastinating on this, because I like the show but I'm bummed that they took Santos to the trying to have a relationship with Valentina as a consolation prize, route....sigh.

I really do feel sorry for Fernando because Ignacio took advantage of his insecurities.Martina at one point asked him,'que te falta'. I was like, woman, think! Isn't it obvious?I do find it tragic that your parents' mess-ups when raising you become your flaws and it takes so longto change. Strangely, Rogelio's selfishness pisses me off far more than Fernando's stupidity everyone keeps mentioning.
Imelda's change seems so odd since they made her so unlikable. If her way of treating him deserves to be called love, poor Fernando. I am not a fan of that whole idea that 'oh she/he loves him/her in his own selfish way'. So which part of such behaviour is love?Humiliation?Manipulation? I'd go pet my dog then. I bet my doggy would appreciate it far better than Imelda could appreciate all the kindness and tolerance shown for her. She way worse than Fernando for me because at least he was actually trying to give her what she wanted and didn't go around trying to make everyone feel horrible. He loves his daughter and with Imelda I'm not entirely sure she loves that girl as much as he does I do have an issue with trying to redeem someone like her because it feels so sudden and strange. She was awful to Paula, so what about that? Or is she going to only be nice to Fernando, the same way Martina is only nice to Paula?
Poor Ceci. This is going to end very badly. If she ends up raising the kid alone, it will be hard for her. If Ignacio is still in the picture, his poor child might grow up wondering what might set his papa off.Living with people who can get angry easily is very hard. And I absolutely refuse to accept the old refrain thatoh parents do their best. In this case someone like Ignacio can absolutely do a lot of harm and 'his best', whatever that may be, simply wouldn't be enough. That child deserves better. Once he finds out she's pregnant, he wont' let her live peacefully.

Jarifa, thank you for that detailed report from your couch. I am late due to waking up to no power. We had a pretty fast moving storm last night around 5.00. Oddly I did have power last night.

Wow....so much happened. It really hit the fan ,and guess who everyone is going to look to now ...the big dog. Igy is truly a demon . I thought he was changing when the brothers seemed to include him in the wedding stag nights , weddings, and and cook outs . Wrong . I guess his demented mother's deathbed plea and his mystery co conspirator made him continue his revenge plan. I think he is now doomed . Ceci will be raising that bebe alone .

We got a tidal wave of disaster last night. Besides impacting every family member , the servants will also be affected.

Well, WE all warned Cecelia over and over again to leave Igy, but she just didn't listen to us.

People around each other do sometimes tend to get pregnant at the same time . One friend or family member gets pregnant and others decide that's a good idea. Then, the kids grow up together. Telenovelas sometimes save those multiple pregnancies as part of the happy ending , but this show had very fertile couples right after the weddings.

Love Fidel and his pen and notepad.

Did anyone notice that in Wednesday's episode , when Leo had that flashback , it seemed that his biodad swerved to miss hitting Leo in the driveway before he had the car crash that killed him? If I saw that correctly, Leo feels very guilty about his dad's death ,and perhaps this might be why Roberta hates Leo if she loved his dad.

Minas

Thanks to everyone for their comments and their clarifications!

Diana, I also love Cynthia Klitbo, as you very well noted "an actress who plays angel, devil and everything in between with equal ease." I first saw her in Mujer de Nadie, then in Juego de Mentiras and now here. Spectacular.

I agree that Emilia isn't really observant when it comes to Nico. And yes, Tigre thinking La Patrona was going to help him was pretty stupid of him.

Darcy, mil gracias for this: "Sebas did tell Nico that he wished he was dating Emilia - not that he was." (And thanks to whoever spotted it - Waterlily?) It just seemed such a weird thing to do, this makes much more sense. Thanks again.

"Both Sebas and Sara sounded ridiculous insisting that Leo and Emilia stay away from their significant others" Exactly! This is extra ridiculous when one remembers they WORK TOGETHER. Maybe they should also have a radar that detects each other's presence and walk the other way, no? Just stupid.

The Mau thing was weird... They have the same last name so I assume they have the same father.

As for the HR, I agree that job experience wins, but IMO especially for HR positions, people need some sort of university, preferably psychology or similar. But hey, Sara got the job too, so their expectations must be low anyway.

Interesting info about "afortunado". Maybe that's it... If anyone is wondering, in the OG Orlando's counterpart, Ricardo, was straight and ended up with Patricia, which we can consider Jenny here (who's actually a fused Patricia-Julia, but that's a story for another day). It's totally possible they changed that bit though. They've changed so much already.

Waterlily, yes, women wanting assholes is a terrible plot line and I'm sick and tired of it.

"Why did they have to make him so stupid?" was exactly right! What was he thinking? In the OG, Tigre was very different and a bit too brave. I loved "La patrona was right when she said there's a fine line between stupidity and idealism. In Tiger's case it's the former."

"In a way it's convenient for her that she is in love because this way she knows he won't refuse/deny. It irritates me when protagonistas use this trick. It's just so stupid." I hate it too!

Marijó's decision was pretty stupid. She's not in Cuidad de México.

Susan, LOL about Emi yelling and threatening.

I loved "Zaira, the good witch, and Roberta the bad witch."

I think Orlando is the head of the police force. (Sorry if that doesn't make sense, it's 21:00 here and I'm sleepy.)

I might be in the minority, but I didn't like the fact Leo kissed Emi. He's dating Sara, who's annoying, but it's still cheating and he thinks Emi is also in a relationship.

Minas

Susan, I just saw your new comment: "If I saw that correctly, Leo feels very guilty about his dad's death ,and perhaps this might be why Roberta hates Leo if she loved his dad." That's very interesting. I just don't have Roberta capable to love anyone LOL. But that's certainly a very interesting theory.

Tierra

Urban , thank you for the recap of all the drama.

As always , the writers have pushed the main couple apart through misunderstanding to create drama. MT and Santos are both being stubborn and unyielding . I can't believe that MT is going to to through with that wedding. You can tell that Marco is silently fuming that Aldo is buzzing around MT and the ranch .

Santos romancing teenybopper Valentina is cringeworthy. I know couples who have a ten year age difference ...but 20 years????
Doesn't Clemente have any friends he could introduce to Val ?

Clemente and Regina are sweet together .

Norma can try to dress more like Adriana and put on some makeup , but she didn't follow through the way Adriana would have done after getting Rutty all heated up. Norma, let him go. He is not a good guy .

How can Camila stand creepy Marco creeping all over her . ugh

Susan, "Did anyone notice that in Wednesday's episode , when Leo had that flashback , it seemed that his biodad swerved to miss hitting Leo in the driveway before he had the car crash that killed him? If I saw that correctly, Leo feels very guilty about his dad's death ,and perhaps this might be why Roberta hates Leo if she loved his dad." YES!!!! I did notice this!!! I forgot to comment on that...it definitely seemed like he swerved to miss Leo!! Good theory about why Roberto hates Leo

Minas #8

Thanks, Weirdo.

How old is Marijo? She needs a parent figure and she also needs to be rid of Roberta. I hope Leo steps up. That should chase Sara away. [laughs like Angelique on Dark Shadows.]

Roberta only has one facial expression, that of distain.

Zaira makes me laugh with her herbal rituals. Would he freaK Roberta out?

Weirdo

Did it seem to you in that flashback that Leo's dad crashed the car because he swerved to avoid hitting Leo in the driveway , or did I misinterpret the scene ?

I am impressed with Leo in his first galan role . He is large and in charge so far , and he has shown us grief and passion and kindness . He also seems to stand up to pushy Sara.

ETERNAMENTE

Darcy, sorry to hear about your Chief's loss. I am sure that that rookie will never forget that feeling besting Mahomes in that play. The Bears start on Sunday and since we are in the middle of a massive rebuild, I am hoping for a break-even kind of year. Here is hoping your niece/hephew arrives quickly. "I bet there would be a market for traveling hotels." To me, the idea is interesting because there is a driver and it sounds like there would be plenty of tourism support so it wouldn't be just another RV to rent. I also like that Marco always mentions how important Blanca is in the project with her having done the interior design.

waterlily, "Imelda's change seems so odd since they made her so unlikable." Great point! I agree with you there. It is hard to believe that she has finally seen the errors in her ways and now is in lvoe with Fernando but I will take it on face value.

MINAS

Thank you Susan and Darcy - I didn't "see" that Leo's father swerved to avoid him in his fatal crash.

Your theory as to why Roberta hates him has great merit Susan! It's been inexplicable to me but that would do the trick...

Diana

Minas

Diana,,you know i go by the visual , and it seemed to me that Leo was either running around the driveway or running to welcome his dad, and it looked to me like his dad turned away so that he wouldnt hit Leo. Poor , young Leo then went to the car and saw his bloody dad. How traumatizing.

Thanks Urban, I’m amazed at how much I forget, so it’s good to have a reminder of things that happened before the next episode!

Every night I like Aldo less. He wants to marry María Teresa but I really don’t think he loves her. Although he is very jealous of Santos. Maybe he sees him as coming between them. And María Teresa is just going along with a marriage she doesn’t want. She has to fake smile at him when he looks at her. Of course he turns away and gets an ugly face too. Happy honeymoon!

Poor Santos is in the same boat. It would make more sense if he were dating Bernarda.

Pepe looked a little worried when he saw all those vials. I hope his conscience starts bothering him.

I can’t wait till the bookclub ladies find out about Adriana!

Norma did look really nice at her dinner. But she obviously wasn’t ready to do anything in the bedroom.

Thanks Jarifa, you made the Proof quite entertaining. They did overuse that word

I was disappointed that Fernando believed Ignacio and then blamed big brother. Rogelio is putting time and effort into freeing his brother and saving the business. I actually felt sorry for him.

I was very upset with Imelda’s father. He offered to buy the shares, no one made him. Then he goes over demanding his money back. If he’s a businessman he should realize that things like that happen. Well, usually not that extreme, but you make money, you lose money. He had no sympathy for what the family is going through.

Cecilia is a disappointment. She knows her husband’s feelings for the Iturbides. But thinks he’s going to help him out. His mother wanted the house. If he gets it I wonder if Cecelia will move in with him. And getting pregnant was foolish. I love babies but there’s too many pregnancies happening. While poor Felipa is the one who deserves to be pregnant.

I still can’t be on board with Imelda’s complete turn around. She was too unlikable and just plain mean to all of a sudden be nice. She made Felipa burn the crib, and then was jealous when Martina gave them an identical one. If she saves the family from ruin I still don’t think I could like her!

Liz

Tierra

Liz,i had the exact same thought . Santos could date Bernarda. Val is young enough to be his daughter.

ETERNAMENTE

Liz, ITA that Imelda’s father was something else! Nobody forced him to buy those shares but he was too interested in Imelda pulling a fast one on Rogelio. I also felt sorry for Rogelio trying to save his business and finding out that he couldn’t trust his own brother because of his jealousy. I hope we don’t hear PROOF one more time tonight. : )

Finally caught up! Thank you Urban for giving us all the deets! The time slot of this one is too late for me to watch live and I definitely can't do anything with Weds but I can help on Monday. It wouldn't be a full recap because of working and it probably wouldn't be up before noon on Tuesday but I can put up some highlights or a quick this is what I can remember post.

I don't understand Norma. Since day 1 she was all about being a helicopter mom and didn't give a damn about hubby, now she's trying to get all dressed up to attract him?? Why? She doesn't even like him. She pretty much gave him the 'there's no us' speech a week or so ago. I don't think she wants hubby's attention. I think she wants to be like Adriana. She wants her popularity, her status and her confidence, she doesn't give a whit about Rut still.

Speaking of, one thing about Bernarda's flash back is confusing to me. I have been assuming Rut raped her, and I assume we are all assuming that, but that cutting of the hand didn't look like it happened post raped, it looked like she got away before he could get what he wanted. So did he attack her more than once? Or did she have a different rapist?? I'm guessing he raped her once and then tried again and got his scar.

When she's not whining, Valentina is more likable than her type of secondary character usually is. Yes, she's obsessed with Santos and over the top about that but she's more or less respectful and nice with everyone else. She's even nice to MT as I've said before, she's friendly and nice with Cris, she loves her sister and her mom; it's nice to have a character that isn't just a spoiled brat with nothing at all to like about her. I think I'm even going to fell bad for her when she gets her heart broken.

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #77 Page one

Notes from the couch . . . A LOT of a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

VILLA MORELIA Martina asks why does Villa Morelia have to be sold? All of the other properties have been leveraged. If payment isn't made on the loan, they all will be seized. Martina takes the imminent loss of Villa Morelia very hard. She tells the staff that she will find good jobs for them all. Honorio offers to sell his property to help out Rogelio. Rogelio thanks him but refuses the offer saying that the land is supporting many families now not just one. Micaela offers Martina her family home in Cuitzeo which Martina thanks her for but, also, turns down. Lucas is upset with having to leave the Villa Morelia since it was the last place he saw his mother. He tells Rogelio he would rather be at a boarding school or with his Aunt Pati. (Aunt Pati has already called Rogelio worried about Lucas with all that is going on with the Iturbides)

PAULA tells Rogelio that she can contribute to supporting the family with her music school. She assures him that they will make it through this. He feels like the worse failure ever as a son, a husband, and a father. She gives him hope. Cecilia offers her apartment or house to the entire Iturbide family. Paula thanks her but sees that as impossible with the way things are with Ignacio.

FERNANDO is having a rough time behind bars. His cellmate uses the fact that he finds Fernando praying aloud at night annoying as an excuse to beat him up as the rest of the inmates cheer him on.

AN ARREST Fidel goes to see his connection at the prosecutor's office to show him the video. They identify the employee and bring him in for questioning. He says that a guy paid him "five big ones" to label the boxes and make sure they were not inspected. He identifies Carmelo as the man who paid him. They arrest him as Carmelo's accomplice. The are now looking for Carmelo.

LUIS decides to not move to LA while his family is in such a crisis. He gets a call from Andrea. They miss each other. He wants to see her. She says that first they need to establish some guidlelines. She promises to come and visit him when she can.

LUCAS tells Rogelio that he doesn't want to move because he saw his mother for the last time at La Villa. He doesn't want to leave his school or his amiga. He would rather of live at a boarding school or with his Aunt Pati.

IMELDA'S parents will only give her financial help if she divorces Fernando. She refuses and tells them they can forget about her. She goes to visit Fernando and tells him that La Villa was seized and somebody bought it . Fernando sees it all as his fault. He will be a worthwhile member of the family again once he has gotten everything back. He tells Imelda to leave.

IGNACIO/CECILIA Ceciia looks like she is getting ready to tell Ignacio that she is pregnant. She has a little collection of baby items and writes him a note saying that she knows that he will be the father that he always wanted for himself. She puts the items in the night stand drawer when she hears him come in.

Shortly thereafter, CECILIA witnesses Rogelio coming in and telling Ignacio that he won and he never saw it coming. He has succeeded in ruining the Iturbide family. He knows that he had Carmelo planned the drug scheme so Fernando would end up in jail. He can take all he wants from him but he will give him his brother back. Ignacio denies everything. Rogelio assures Ignacio that he will never enjoy what he has won and that he will get it all back. Ignacio tells him get out.

ETERNAMENTE Page two

Cecilia remembers what she overheard at the reception and doesn't wait until the end of the conversation to get packing. She rips up the baby note. Ignacio comes in angry that she is leaving again. She tells him that she heard it all and refuses to be a a fool because of him. He starts to approach her. She tells him that if he lays one hand on her, he will be dealing with the police. She is out of there. She calls Ale. She realizes that she needs help. She is the one who needs to change. Ale says the group is always there.

Ignacio is at home drinking and thinking about what Rogelio told him and assuring himself that Cecilia will be back no matter what she said. Cecilia does come back but with Ali to pack up her stuff ONE MORE TIME. Ignacio appears crying and begging her to stay. If she goes, he will end up wishing he had been born dead. He wants to talk to her alone. Ale refuses to let go of her arm or leave her alone with Ignacio. (It looks like no matter how afraid she is, Cecilia could end up staying with him again.) He insists that he never wanted to hurt her NEVER. Ale physically moves Cecilia out with her belongings and into a waiting car.

CECILIA goes back to the domestic violence group. In tears, she admits to them all that she is now pregnant. Ale assures her that they will be by her side. She is also upset that her husband caused the financial ruin of her best friend's family.

THE MUSIC SCHOOL is no more. Ulises calls Paula because a group of parents are asking for tuition refunds. Paula and Cecilia show up. The parents do not want to be involved with anything that has to do with the Iturbides aka Paula. . The owner of the property doesn't like that connection either and cancels their lease.

MARCO asks Toro to buy La Villa. He cannot afford that but he can put the word out among his friends. There might be a raise in Marco's future.

MARTINA asks who the man is in the family photo album she is looking at. It turns out that it is Hipólito her husband. A couple of seconds later, she recognizes him. (BAD SIGN)

GABRIEL manages to extend the family's time at La Villa, but once the seized property is sold, they have to move.

LAST SCENES

Martina and the whole family end up moving to Micaela's family property in Cuitzeo out in the country along with the staff. Rogelio promises they will return to La Villa. He will fight for it. Paula thinks this will be a great adventure for all of them. She never had a family. They are all healthy and all together. Nothing is more important than that. The treasure that they have is invaluable. The family is at a long table all eating and talking with each other.

Ignacio is alone at the Villa Morelia looking out from the balcony. It is silent. "When we change the way we see the world everything acquires different nuances. What seemed black can transform itself into something much lighter but in order to triumph, one must lose something but sometimes that triumph only brings you a terrible bitterness and loneliness."

Please add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, your well-chosen and insightful words brought tonight’s events vividly to life. You are such a talented writer.

Although tinged with sadness, it appears the family has responded to their loss with regretful acceptance and resilience. I was touched by their closeness and softly bonding chatter as they settled into their new “home”.

The family gathering was in sharp contrast to Ignacio, who should have been jubilant but who felt no joy, only abject misery, alone as he has always been.

Martina’s staff clearly loves her and she them; their group hug was so sweet and supportive.

Martina’s failure to recognize her husband’s photo was alarming and a bad omen.

How quickly the reverberations of the financial loss were felt. Imelda’s parents’ fury, Paula losing her school.

Fernando paying dearly for supporting Ignacio, betrayed and languishing in hell in jail.

“(It looks like no matter how afraid she is, Cecilia could end up staying with him again.).” I fear your astute remark may well be the case Jarifa. She needs to gather her strength, not give in at every turn. “He insists that he never wanted to hurt her NEVER” may well reflect what Ignacio’s intentions were but it wasn’t and isn’t his reality. Cecilia was and is in grave, mortal danger.

"When we change the way we see the world everything acquires different nuances. What seemed black can transform itself into something much lighter but in order to triumph, one must lose something but sometimes that triumph only brings you a terrible bitterness and loneliness" was lovely.

I thought Diana Bracho’s grey silk blouse in the first scene was one of the loveliest I’ve ever seen and gave her an air of softness, of vulnerability.

Hopefully, rock bottom has been hit and the family will rally and fight to regain and rebuild what they have lost.

Diana

So what Martina would have done if it hadn't been for her loyal servant's help? If she refused it at first, why the change? I just can't forget how arrogant Martina has always been. I think that's why I don't have a lot of sympathy for her. She was awful to both Blanca and Paula and Paula is now willing to help and Blanca's project might actually be the only thing that brings money. Martina has this wierd attitude where she is grateful if you do something considerate towards her and doesn't consider she doesn't actually deservethat consideration. I still remember that scene with Blanca where Blanca was way too glad to get her gratitude.
Marco's request was soo funny. The guy apparently has no idea how much that house costs. It's also actually pretty rude I'd say.

Minas

I have a busy weekend. #9's recap will be up tomorrow.

The pig is a better actor and less grating on the nerves than most Televisa child actors. I would rather watch the pig than Ana Tena anyday!
He/she should definitely be given credit where credit is due.

Thanks, Weirdo! :-)

Weirdo, Cynthia Klitbo has a long and storied past in telenovelas, usually in antagonist roles. She has been nominated as "Best Villain" a record-breaking SEVEN times in her career!
She is always terrific if at times somewhat over-the-top.
I remember her most vividly in an absolute hot mess of a telenovela- "Velo de novia" that starred Susana Gonzalez and Eduardo Santamarina, in which she convincingly managed to convincingly portray "una niña caprichosa y berrinchuda" in a role that was obviously written for an actress 20 years younger than she was. That villain wound up horribly burned and disfigured, had her legs broken with a sledge hammer, and devoured by rats. It was great fun!
I watched her and another telenovela legend- Azela Robinson- in Mujer de nadie when I was still just a lurker here.
That remains the worst telenovela and greatest bastardization of a remake that I have ever seen, and I am STILL angry about it. The original, Amarte es mi pecado, was just SO good, but I was and am still amazed at the soulless, charmless trip that was made of such a great novela.
Knowing that that same producer was also responsible for the horrible "Cuna de lobos" remake, I have sworn to never, ever watching anything she or her production company produces, ever again.

TIERRA

Urban Anthopologist, thank you for your recaps.

Thus far, I am disappointed in this. It reminds me a lot of similar novelas from this same producer- Vino del amor and La desalmada where, likewise. there was always a lot of arguing and not much actually happening.

He seems insistent on thrusting his daughter and his current girlfriend upon us though (these would be the actors portraying Valentina and Bernarda, respectively), and I am not sure how I feel about that (I hate nepotism).

Did anyone else watch the Colombian original when it aired on Telemundo??? It was so much fun. It had the supernatural, witches, assassins, murderous transexuals who aren't really, dramatic background music, and all of the villains met their end by nature (devoured by crocodiles, poisoned by spiders, strangled by snakes, attacked by wolves, etc.)

BTW- I am NOT revealing spoilers here. The website even says that it is a "free" adatptation of the original story and they have mistifyingly written out the main villain, which I just don't understand and is probably the main reason I am watching- because I just don't see how it can work without Isabella (who was played by Natasha Klauss in the original).

I notice that the Producer is also listen as the main Adapter in terms of writing. If this is the case, I think we can expect to see much more of Valentina and Bernarda in the future (that would be, again, daughter and girlfriend, respectively).

Again- NOT a spoiler. Just my oen theory.

Still, thus far I am not too impressed. Urban Anthropologist, your talents deserve to be better served!

I'll keep at it though. Thank you for your efforts. :)

I am with you, Liz re: Imelda.

Still, the actress has done a great job at being perfectly hateful! I don't believe I have seen her before.

Jarifa, I wanted to give credit where crefit is due and thank you for your great recaps.
I am so surprised at how much I am LOVING this intimate little novelita!!!!

That last comment should be marked as "ETERNAMENTE"!

Wow! Diana Bracho was 78 when this was filmed! (She will be 79 in December).

What a legend she is! Her acting trajectory officially spans 65 years (back when she was a child actress in 1949).

Does this make her Mexico's Betty White????

Thanks, Diana. That quote at the end was so unexpected but so appropriate. "The family gathering was in sharp contrast to Ignacio, who should have been jubilant but who felt no joy, only abject misery, alone as he has always been." That could not have been better stated. Nothing is changing until he is able to change which I am doubting at this point. It certainly seems that Paula has found her place. Yes, that was was beautiful blouse.

waterlily, "Marco's request was soo funny. The guy apparently has no idea how much that house costs. It's also actually pretty rude I'd say." Marco made me laugh in that scene. He is still a kid in so many ways but a really good guy with a good heart.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, I felt echoes of "Vencer" reading that quote. Thank you for consistently translating these important treasures.

I am also fearing Ignacio is treading dangerously close to the point of non return.

Marco "is still a kid in so many ways but a really good guy with a good heart" is perfect. I hope he and especially Blanca are featured more prominently in upcoming episodes.

Jarifa, thank you so much for that excellent review from the couch as our story spins and twists . wow. That ending quote got to me. And the ending scenes of the Iturbides and staff all dining together while Igy stands alone on the balcony of that empty mansion. The crowded table and empty balcony were metaphors showing that people matter, not things. Home is the people you love who love you . Home is not a place even though we all need a roof over our heads and a floor beneath our feet .

I hope that Ceci has finally listened to us and doesn't return. I can't imagine her living in that mansion with Igy. Igy is the tragic figure in this story damaged beyond repair by his mother and his childhood abuse.

From the moment I saw Marco , he reminded me so much of all my cousins and friends at that age and all the students I taught . They can drive you crazy at that age , but they also can have big , open hearts that they wear on their sleeves not yet jaded by the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. Marcos is the sweetest , most naive of the brothers and has been making progress on his hero's journey . His brothers seem to not be dealing with life as well as their young bro is .

OT.. "Mira Quien Baile" begins Oct 1 . Lis Vega will be on it . Does anyone here remember her? Years ago , she was on a telenovela and on this dance show competition. Captain Sylvia Sharkbait and I were both big fans of her .

Jarifa, spellbounding recap. So many lows, but a high with the family gathering. I missed some of last night's epi, but I can "see" it all.

I'm hoping Martina not recognizing Hipolito in that old photo is a sign of her xing him out of her feelings and not of a mental decline.

Lucas, you are a part of a (mostly) good family, which sticks together through highs and low. I'm tired of you wanting to go live with your tia when things get rough. Did it ever occur to you that your dad needs you?

Poor Fernando is learning a hard lesson in a very hard way. Beat up for praying, goodness.

So now Ignacio has an empty mansion all to himself. Looking forward to his next move. Will he fess up to his misery in this "win"?

Eternamente

Thanks Jarifa, that was great. I’m so glad you translated that quote at the end. I was hoping I would find out what was said.

Martina has always had the devotion of the staff. But she’s usually kind and polite with them, and had helped them out in the past. When Imelda moved in it was so made her treatment of the staff stand out. But I’m surprised Micaela has such a big family property.

I loved the ending with everyone sitting around the table. I was pleased that Imelda told her parents goodbye. I haven’t liked them and Imelda has realized the difference in the two families.

Did I miss something? Fernando is now taking the blame after blaming Rogelio. I didn’t think anyone told him Ignacio was behind it. Because they still don’t have PROOF! But once they find Carmelo he probably will blame Ignacio. He did originally want to get even with him.

I didn’t realize they lost the lease on the school. I knew parents wanted to pull out. So now Ignacio has hurt the woman he loves.

I am really enjoying all the drama, and no killings!

Liz

Beautiful observations, Susan.

Thank you.

Does Lis Vega still resemble anything like a woman, Susan? I remember seeing her on something from Telemundo a couple of years back where she just looked.... um, WRONG.

Eternamente

Thank you Jarifa for your always wonderful notes from the couch! It was a mostly sad but not entirely hopeless episode. Like everyone else, I thought the ending scenes at the family table were wonderful.

I have so much sympathy for Lucas, he might not be supportive of dad but he's a child. He has gone through so many changes and drastic changes in such a short time span. It's hard to judge time with all the jumps but I'm thinking it's been less than two years - and he's gone from a little boy who didn't even know who his dad was, to getting a new dad, losing mom suddenly and tragically, living in a new house full of 'family' he didn't necessarily know too well, dealing with the feelings of having a new 'mom; and just when he's getting adjusted he's now losing this house too and going to move he doesn't know (at the time he said it) where, and he doesn't know if he will have to leave his school, his friends, etc. More things actually that he's had for only 2ish years since they moved to Morelia in the beginning. His whole life is being turned upside down AGAIN and he doesn't have the fortitude to just roll with it, which I think is understandable that's a lot of trauma in a short time and in a young life. Plus, Aunt Pati is the only person in his life that he has known his whole life at this point, so I think it's logical and understandable that his first thought would be I want to go live with Auntie! Not saying he should be actually sent to live with Auntie, but I think it makes sense that he would feel that way.

I fear Martina not recognizing her husband is indeed a sign of more bad things to come, unfortunately.

OT

Speaking of reality series, I haven't watched 'Veo Como Canta' at all, but I keep seeing the commercials and I've thought about it. I like the English version of it, 'I Can See Your Voice'. It's interesting as contestants try to guess whether lip syncers are in reality good singers or bad singers just based on the lip syncing performance and body language.

O/T

I'm having busy times lately so I am just catching up with yesterday's episodes but had to say something under this heading first.

Lis Vega was one of the most athletic actresses I ever saw, but her novela career appears to have ended with Santa Diabla in 2014. Here she is in Bailando Por Un Sueno

I think she was eliminated early from the "reality" series Los 5 Magnificos which starred Marco Antonio Regil as the ringmaster. Couldn't find any videos of her in that but I did find a compilation video of someone I miss in novelas, Eugenio Siller. Oddly, this miniseries is not listed in IMDB.

OT...Urban, yes, I did some research on Lis, too . I think the show that I saw her in was " Duelo de Pasion " with Pablo Montero , I think . That show was a hoot.

"Jaime said...
The pig is a better actor and less grating on the nerves than most Televisa child actors. I would rather watch the pig than Ana Tena anyday!"

Mentioning a specific actor, especially someone under 21 is unkind and uncalled for.

Eternamente #77

Gracias, Jarifa, for all these well-told tales.

I was shocked at the idea of any of the servants offering help when Martina has such a track record of coldness and such class snobbery. And whom did Micaela inherit that property from?

It has often been said that revenge brings no real satisfaction and if this is what Ignacio is supposed to learn, I am not sure he will. Irma did quite a number on him and I don't see him being alive at the end.

Imelda's parents finally had their fill of her. I guess Ruben may not find out after all that he is not her sire. At this point it probably wouldn't matter.

It's still shocking to me that people can be evicted so quickly in Mexico.

Tierra

I will be watching this shortly so the recap may be delayed until morning. Daisy, thanks for volunteering to take on Mondays and you can be brief with just the important stuff. Others can fill in the rest.

If anyone can take on Wednesdays, I'd really appreciate it.

Fortunately, this only has 60 episodes and we are at the hump now.

OT

Goodbye to Jimmy Buffet .." When life gives you limes, make Margaritas." I wish I had one . I would toast him .

ETERNAMENTE

Thanks, all, for stopping by the patio.

Jaime, we all should be so lucky to live to be 99 like Betty White! As for the novela, I have been pleasantly surprised. It has been much more enjoyable than I though it would be.

Diana, that quote was perfect and did remind me of "Vencer", too. It was written in the same rambling sort of stream consciousness kind of style. Very appropriate.

Susan, "Home is not a place even though we all need a roof over our heads and a floor beneath our feet." You are right. Some of us carry "home" with us. : ) I think that Cecilia took a big step forward when she called Ale and asked for help but now with her pregnancy she will be tied to the hopeless cause of Ignacio.

Niecie, I was not happy to see that they had Martina forgetting what Hipólito looked like. Haven't we had enough trips to doctors and hospitals already in this one??? It will be interesting to see Ignacio's reaction to be all on his lonesome in a mansion. At least, the Iturbides took the furnishings.

Liz, it was nice to see that the mutual affection between Martina and the staff has brought them even closer at Micaela's place. I was surprised with how large and how rural it was even though it seemed to be located in Cuitzeo which according to Wiki is a town of 22,000. It must be on the outskirts. It was a surprise to me that Imelda had changed enough to prefer the Iturbide family. Maybe there is hope for her.

Darcy, ITA with your take on Lucas. I cannot imagine being a child of that age and going through all of the life changing events that came with the death of his mother in such a short time.

Urban, "It's still shocking to me that people can be evicted so quickly in Mexico." It always seems to be in a matter of days, never weeks or months. I wonder if that is like it really is or if they speed it up for dramatic effect.

eternamente
Urban, I'm glad not to be alone in my shock about Micaela's offer. Martina was ready to throw Blanca out. She can talk all day long about the staff being 'like her children' but they still are employees to her and will always be. The only significant thing I remember her doing for them is saying she'd pay for Felipa's fertility treatment. But she is still snobish and classist. And I still think those servants are ready to do way more for her than she is for them. She had money to spare whereas they offer her the only thing they have. For me there's a huge difference between the two. Micaela seems to have forgotten how Blanca has been treated. And this plot doesn't seem to have progressed much.

Tierra de Esperanza 9/8/23
Episode 29: Notes; Part 1 of 2

As Bernarda showed Santos what little milk she got from a cow, Adriana and Irasema played at the edge of the pool. Norma arrived with flowers.

Valentina kissed Santos and Bernarda saw this. He looked a little uneasy for a moment.

Clemente drew while Trejo and other corrupt cops did their thing.

Regina received another drawing from Clemente.

Rut brought Norma a huge bouquet of red roses which she said did not wipe out their issues.

Valentina had no better luck milking a cow. Neither she nor Cris could understand this.

As Maria Teresa took her suitcase out Genoveva gave her a rose crocheted by a relative for luck in love. Both women cried.

Norma was tired of the cycle she and Rut were in. He tried to say he loved her but she had her doubts [as do we]. He was trying to get back in Norma's good books but he also seemed to be lying through his teeth. She was determined to believe her plan was working [so where is her makeup?]

Valentina told Bernarda that Ramona (the cow) had almost no milk. Since she was a top producer Bernarda was worried that this could be serious.

Maria Teresa stopped by the fields where Santos had to tell her about the milk shortage. Neither was panicking about this yet. She was clearly looking for a reason not to leave. He asked whether she was sure she wanted to get married. She asked why he asked her this and he said this should have been an easy answer. Then Aldo appeared again in white sneakers and asked if she was ready.

Clemente gave Regina another drawing and he told her he wanted to be a painter and have his work in museums.

The Jackal paid Pepe off.

Bernarda questioned the others about the cattle feed and nothing had been amiss. They disbanded to get work done including changing water in the troughs.

Rut and Grim talked dirty business because there were complications.

None of the milk cows were producing so Bernarda wanted to call Maria Teresa. Santos said they needed to take care of this themselves.

Clemente found out from Trejo that a large part of the river flowed through La Esperanza which was private property. Trejo asked him why he was interested and was told “curiosity.” He then told Clemente to get back to work.

Bernarda decided to do blood tests on the milk cows. She handed needles to Valentina, saying she needed two vials from each cow. Valentina observed that it was strange that all these cows were affected at once, then went to Ramona first.

Santos and Cris talked about this elsewhere. Santos was determined to solve this ASAP because of how much money was sunk into this and how this affected everyone.

Tierra de Esperanza 9/8/23
Episode 29: Notes; Part 2 of 2

Valentina stopped Pepe and asked if he knew what was wrong with the cows. He pleaded ignorance and said to ask her mother. She showed him the chart and he claimed not to understand it.

Bernarda went to Remedios for help and she began assembling the relevant herbs.

Grim went to La Soltera to see Marco, but Adriana didn't quite believe him. She became uneasy. He would not disclose the purpose of his visit and before he left told her she should treat him as a friend.

Santos called Esteban to find Maria Teresa but she was not there yet. Esteban was reluctant to deliver bad news on Maria Teresa's wedding day.

Grim and Marco talked about the alcohol shipments, which were riskier at the moment. The Jackal would be in charge because Marco would be in the city for Maria Teresa's wedding. The toasted.

Adriana was nervous again about what Grim knew and continued to drink as she vented to Irasema. Grim could plant doubt in Marco's mind and he already didn't trust her.

Remedios gave Bernarda a large jar of herbs and how to brew it for the cows. She also gave her a vial for herself for her nerves. Bernarda told Remedios about Santos and Valentina and asked her to talk to Santos.

There apparently is a major secret why Adriana left the brothel and Grim knew about it. It sounded like someone was poisoned. Irasema was not sure about this. They used to drug clients to clean out their wallets.

Upon arrival at Nani's Aldo pretended to be the perfect yerno to Esteban. Nothing was said about the ranch.

Trejo and the Jackal talked dirty business over shots at the bar. Marco was paying big pesos for this.

Aldo saw Maria Teresa to her room saying that they would be married by this time tomorrow. The honeymoon would be delayed, He kissed her and went to another room. She did not look happy as he walked away.

Santos did not like that Maria Teresa would be marrying Aldo, certain that it would be all for nothing. Cris persuaded him to go into the bar with him. Trejo and the Jackal were still there and there was a brief fight. Trejo scolded the Jackal as Santos and Cris left.

Maria Teresa and her dad talked about the wedding over tea. He went to bed and Nani came out to tell Maria Teresa that the wedding is not a solution. Maria Teresa confessed she could not stop thinking of Santos.

Marriage proposals everywhere! - Part 1/2

Some scenes are combined.

We see our protagonists' kiss again. Emi slaps Leo, who just kisses her again. Patricio comes and asks them if they're alright (I assume he saw them?)

Sara also gets in the mines, but doesn't see them kissing. She screams at Emi for Seb getting his job back like it's her desicion. She also gets into a fight with Leo and they say they'll talk later.

We get many flashbacks of Leo and Emilia's kiss(es), approximately 30,000.

Marijó is helping Zaira. We get (obvious) product placement, UGH. Tigre gets home and whines about Roberta in front of Marijó.

Leo talks to his dad (Ignacio), saying that everything has a solution except from death. Sara gets in with a paella basket as a reconciliation gift. Great, now I'm hungry. She says she knows she hasn't been a good girlfriend at these hard times and tells him she changed her mind and she thinks marriage isn't a bad idea (I'm 100% sure she now wants to marry him so he stops thinking about Emilia. How pathetic!) He says he's not sure it's going to work.

Roberta is drinking champagne and toasting to Ignacio, the fallen patrón (el patrón caído). She screams more things to his picture, about the will, Tigre and that she'll ruin everything he's made. She toasts to him again (which is pretty funny considering that when you're toasting to someone you say "Salud" which means health and Ignacio is dead.)

Jenny, Sara and Berta are all eating together. Berta asks them what's up, they don't tell her nor open up to her (I'm not surprised). Adalberto remembers he has a family and decides to drop by. He's whining about working again and continues his sexist comments like "women have to make a man feel loved". Jenny says "yep, very loved, right?" (Back in episode 3? she saw him with his mistress.) Adalberto asks her what does she mean, Berta says he won't make sense of what they're saying. Sara takes her food and leaves. They ask Jenny about Mau and she finally snaps and tells them he's poor now. Berta and Adalberto are shocked, but they insist she marry him for the class. Jenny also takes her food and leaves. Berta tries to get more intimate with her husband, he just goes to bed.

Emi is searching about dangers of working in the mines online.

Seb does a serenata to Emilia. He actually PROPOSES! She tells him to get up and that she loves him a lot and she knows he loves them a lot, but she can't marry him, she can't live an illusion.

Nico, who was the one who planned this, is crying in the house. He screams at Emilia that he wants a dad, it's the only thing he asked her for and she won't give him one. (Sure kid, let's order him online. How do you want him?) He then screams he wants to meet his dad. Emilia, with tears in her eyes, says he's too young to understand. (Okay, now she was raped for sure.) Nico screams he's not and understands and goes to another room. Emilia talks to her mother's picture and says she needs her help now more than ever, she can't tell Nico.

Zaira asks Tigre if he HAD to talk about Roberta like this in front of Marijó. He tells her Marijó has to get back to her house, because they may get charged with kidnapping, Zaira says no and insists, yay! Tigre leaves.

Marijó and Gael continue this "we are flirting but we both pretend we're not" thing. Joaquina comes to their house. Marijó first hides but then shows herself and hugs Joaquina. She begs Joaquina to let her stay here for a couple of days, she agrees!

Ezequiel, meanwhile, is outside. He has followed Joaquina and of course snitches to Roberta and says he'll handle this (uh oh).

Roberta, who's very happy about this, starts crying when Leo gets in and pretends she's very sad because of Ignacio's death. She's trying to emotionally manipulate him so he leaves the mines to her and Mau, she even calls him "hijo".

Minas de Pasión, Capítulo 9, Viernes, 8 de Septiembre, 2023

Marriage proposals everywhere! - Part 2/2

Joaquina enters and after Leo leaves, Roberta asks her about Marijó. Joaquina lies that they talked and she's fine but she didn't tell her where she lives. Roberta says Marijó has to go to Canadá and something about being poor? I didn't catch that.

Mau is drinking shots and kisses some random woman (I guess that's Flor, a new character?) Orlando finds him and they get into an argument about Jenny. Mau says he only loves Emilia (does the girl you were kissing know that? Lol!), gives Orlando his shot bottle (lol), which Orlando breaks and leaves.

Emilia talks to her Ignacio's picture when Tigre comes in. They have a general discussion, in which Nico is brought up. Tigre apologises to Emi for not supporting her when she got pregnant. They hug.

Tigre shows Emi the gold he found in la Cueva del Diablo. Emi is very happy and says something about fulfilling her godfather's last wish, helping the miners.

The next day: Emi, Tigre and the other miners are in the mines. Leo tells them that they won't lose their job, Roberta and Mau are also there and Roberta, calling herself La Patrona AGAIN, starts saying some fairytale about her honouring Ignacio and working alongside with "her sons". After the rest of the miners leave, Emi and Tigre stay back to talk with La Patrona about Tigre's money. La Patrona plays sweet, which is pretty sus. Leo asks her what are they talking about and La Patrona tells him about the transfer. Mau says he'll give Emi her money back.

Leo and Emi are outside talking. Emi says she only wants to talk to her for work related stuff, Leo doesn't want to and starts talking about their kiss(es). Emi claims it was nothing for her. With all these water sounds and the intro song it's so to tell what everyone's saying. Leo tells Emi to look him in the eyes and say again it wasn't anything for her.

And with Emi not responding (I wonder why), we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Sorry for this belated recap, but so much stuff popped out of nowhere!

TIERRA

Urban, this was an excellent recap of so many troubling events (the cows, Maria Teresa on the verge of marrying arrogant Aldo and much “dirty business” afoot).

Valentina is smart and I like that she is being proactive and asking Pepe if he has any idea of what is going on. Between her and Bernarda. I have confidence they are going to figure things out.

“Then Aldo appeared again in white sneakers” had me laughing. Aldo who dresses as though he is going to dine at an ultra-chic restaurant, not working on a ranch (not that we have ever actually seen him do that!)

Shall we take bets on what will stop the wedding? If it were a religious rather than a civil ceremony, I would say Santos would come to his senses and come bursting through the doors, objecting vociferously. I’m wondering if Maria Teresa will back out?

I have to say I loved Norma’s black and white dress; it gave her some badly needed vibrancy. A good effort but as you noted “[so where is her makeup?]”

I’m looking forward to learning Adriana’s secret. The more cornered she is feeling (which is a lot right now), the more dangerous she will be.

Diana

MINAS

Weirdo,

Thank you for this weekend wonder. Your amazing humor was a beacon of light. I had to miss some of this as real life interfered so am so grateful for all the fantastic details you supplied. I always enjoy new vocabulary so thank you for “the fallen patrón (el patrón caído)”.

“He leaves the mines to her and Mau, she even calls him "hijo". Oh noes!! Why, Leo, whyever would you leave this viper anything??

If only Emilia’s denial of her real feelings for Leo were her only problem! Surely Seb knows Emilia doesn’t love him “that way”. If he doesn’t, he should. Nico does need a father, especially to give him a bit of security when he is bullied next which will surely be any second. But children cannot dictate their parents’ lives.

Sara is as transparent as cellophane. “(I'm 100% sure she now wants to marry him so he stops thinking about Emilia. How pathetic!)” was exactly right!

This was a food laden episode and between the paella basket and the hot chocolate Marijó and Zaira were sampling, I was salivating.

From salivating to unappetizing, “Adalberto remembers he has a family and decides to drop by”. What a wretched, selfish grasping family.

I’m depressed I missed Orlando’s scene!! OT, I had not seen the actor and looked him up. There are a few, very brief tick tok videos of he and Livia Brito dancing! Looks like they are having fun on set.

MINAS

Weirdo, I believe I speak for the patio in being so grateful for the marvelous summaries you, Urban and Jarifa are currently providing.

They've all been wonderful without exception and I am thrilled to see them whenever you can post. I know what hard work it is and the time it takes.

Thank you, thank you.

Diana

Tierra

Thanks, Urban, well worth waiting for.

I’m hoping the blood work from the cows will show something. And maybe Remedios’ herbs will help. When Valentina talked to Pepe I was hoping he would start to feel guilty. He’s letting everyone on the ranch down, and I have to assume he’s been working alongside them for a while.

Hoping Nani can get María Teresa to back out of this wedding. She seems to be the only one that realizes MT is not happy. Meanwhile Aldo gets more and more unlikable.

If only Santos or María Teresa would have said something about loving them. But between the unhappy couple and Marco’s attacks on any and every hope of saving the ranch, there’s just not much happiness. Except for Valentina!

Well, next week we’ll see about the wedding. But how would Santos get out of his relationship with Valentina. Bernarda might go after him with her shotgun!

Liz

Tierra #29

Thanks, amigas.

I don't think Santos is going to boink Valentina. His rep as a playboy is exaggerated because the women flock to his good looks and charm. I am also sure Bernarda is going to watch them with the eyes of a hawk. So it really annoys me that Valentina's age has not been revealed.

Pepe does not seem to have a conscience so far. I don't remember when I first saw him and we have not seen any relatives of his, so we don't know what makes him tick other than money.

Judy is continuing to rehab. I've told her how much she is missed on the patio and she feels the same and appreciates everyone's support and encouragement.

Minas

weirdo, thank you thank you for providing us with another excellent recap . I always appreciate your funny takes on what is happening . I echo everything that Diana wrote. A big thank you . I am enjoying this show so far.

I always watch the wardrobe choices. I was wondering why Leo always has that tight , light gray sport coat on when he is in the woods putting the moves on Emilia. Like doesn't he own a casual jacket or a sweatshirt ? Then, I suddenly figured that wardrobe is sending us the message that these two are from different social classes in case we didn't get that.

I also have noticed that Roberta is always in solid colored clothes ...usually red or black . In " Invencible ," the wardrobe department did the same thing with Columba. She was always in tight , knit solid colored dresses...purple, black, ivory, red.

Livia seems to be trying to show us her softer, warmer side .

Diana, Orlando's scene in the bar was good . He is a little taller than Mau and tried to be Mau's conscience ( officer Jiminy Cricket ) by scolding Mau about Jenifer. Is Orlando in love with her ?

I liked the Mariachi serenade . Good try , Nico. I kept trying to read the words in English on his pjs. Something about "your dream ..continue to sleep or wake up...," I am fascinated by the kids wearing shirts with English words and phrases.

I like the way people just wander into that mine with no helmets .

Tierra

Urban, thank you for providing us with another excellent recap of all the drama.

No matter how hard I try to suspend my disbelief and hold onto my beanie , this whole cow thing has me chuckling . How many cows do they have ? Bernarda and Val are hand milking ? No milking machines ? Yeah. No.

I think MT will not say " accepto" ,and Aldo will have a temper tantrum .

OT .I am interested in Amor Prohibido. I loved Green Saat in " Fatmagul.

Tierra #29

Susan,
I would love that scenario.

Tierra

Thank you Urban! I love the 'Grim'. It's a perfect nick name for him!! I think I will join Susan in using MT as well.

It is odd to me that no one seems to notice that MT is miserable. She doesn't hide it well at all. I actually cringed when the housekeeper (I can't remember her name) was so thrilled about and going on and on about the wedding when MT was clearly not into it. She seems to almost idolize MT, but she can't see her beloved boss isn't happy???

Interesting information about the production Jamie, I didn't realize this was a remake and I never pay attention to who the producers/writers, etc are; or remember who relates to which novela but having suffered through La desalmada and I am currently suffering through Vino El Amor in daytime - it's scary to think this could go down the same vein as either of those productions. LOL I am liking this so far though. As I've said several times I like the more positive energy in most of the relationships.

I really hope the wedding is called off! Just say no, MT!!! Just say no!

I also think both actresses Valentina and Bernarda are lovely,

OT

I am interested in Amor Prohibido too....but the idea of keeping up with yet another novela is daunting. LOL

Minas

Thank you Weirdo for providing us with your wonderful, humorous recaps! We all appreciate them whenever you are able to provide them.

I liked how Leo told Emilia that whenever she slapped him or yelled at him, he was going to respond by kissing her! It's not right of course, you should never kiss someone without their permission, but this isn't real life, it's a story and it was funny.

Emilia is lucky both of Roberta's sons want to please her, otherwise Tigre likely would have never gotten that money back but now they will race each other to be able to be the one to return it to her!

It seems so absurb to me that Nico would be so upset about mom giving him a dad, but then I remember he's being bullied about it and it makes no sense. Poor kid, he's too young to understand that there's more to the equation than just picking a dad. I loved your comment about ordering one online!!! Hehe If only life were that easy.

Minas
Weirdo, I'm betting that j'online dad' service would be true someday. Maybe it is and I just haven't heard?
I was sure Mr Adled Berto (I keep thinking of the word adled whenever his name is mentioned) and his Berta would say their dear girl doesn't need to marry the guy anymore. Oh wel... Can't her dad get contacts from somewhere else? Why are they so desperate for her to marryMau?
Roberta's comment to Joaquina about them both knowing what it's like to be poor or something similar was odd. She said something about not wanting Marijo to end up like this, but I don't get it. The girl is richer than Roberta. What's going on there?
Sebastian made a stupid choice. But then Leo is no better if he believes all his mother's nonsense. They made Tiger exceedingly stupid. I hope Leo won't become terribly naive. He really didn't seem to believe Sara and told her 'you didn't think this was a good idea if I recall correctly.' I hope this doesn't change.

Minas

Thanks everyone!

Diana, Leo thankfully didn't give his part away to Roberta and Mau, she tried to get him to though. I was salivating too with all this delicious food!

Susan, "Then, I suddenly figured that wardrobe is sending us the message that these two are from different social classes in case we didn't get that." That's very interesting! I hadn't thought of that.

"I like the way people just wander into that mine with no helmets ." LOL

Darcy, "It seems so absurb to me that Nico would be so upset about mom giving him a dad" IKR? I absolutely hate that novela plot line. Why doesn't he tell his mom about the bullying? She looks like someone he can open up to.

Waterlily, the Roberta scene made no sense to me as well. I agree about making Tigre stupid.

OT

Am I the only one who doesn't see Jaime's latest comments?

Tierra,

Urban, thanks for another wonderful recap. Some of your comments are so funny. Like the white sneakers. I always notice them and the contrast with the dirty soil.

I know something is going to prevent this wedding, I just wonder how the writers will go about this.

I am so curious about Adrianna and what happened at the brothel and what was Grimaldi's involvement. I like his nickname "Grim".
