@susan

I am re-posting my reply to your question. I put it up quite late and close to when the page updates for Monday.

Sorry, Susan. I missed the last part of your comment. El Conde was supposedly filming with Fernando Colunga, one of my all-time faves. Interestingly enough, going down a Google rabbit hole, I saw a mention of a novela based on The Count of Monte Cristo with a different title and starring William Levy. ?????

Secrets

Gracias, Dondi. It's been fun catching up with the action, especially now that the good guys are not (at least to a large extent) blinded by their families. I too love "Rat-fet."

I've been thinking (without any evidence) that Gorkem is Merdan's son. I have my doubts about Merdan's story.

So sorry I missed Ceylin and Ilgaz's courtship back in the day when they were "emotional unattached" and got married.

Secrets #81 part 1

Ceylin confronts Arda about his affair with Dila. And jerk forgets he’s been accused of murder—he’s panicked about his brother finding out. Ceylin tells him the DA knows and is interviewing Dila right now.

Eren comes to the courthouse with bad news. He meets Ilgaz and Pars. The search of the crime scene is finished. No weapons, shell casings or shovels. Just the one bullet Ilgaz found in the wall. They couldn’t find the bullet that hit Osman or the casing. The place was cleaned. Pars asks about the blood. Eleven samples were animals, six were human, Eren replies, Goksu is testing them now.

Tugce comes to speak with Merdan. We’re doomed! Everything got worse. My father is subjecting me to endless interrogation. They don’t believe us. I hope you have a Plan B, C, D…etc. Merdan stays calm and asks Tugce to do the same. He understands and will handle it.

Aylin and Fake Cetin walk to the shore for “the talk.” He takes her phone to make sure nothing is recorded. He says she cannot repeat what he’s about to tell her. Swear on the lives of your loved ones. I’m a state intelligence agent. [who doesn’t seem very intelligent.] I work undercover. [I’m not sure I believe him, but I’ll hear him out.]

Yekta comes to see Ilgaz. He asks for info on Serdar’s case, the file hasn’t been uploaded yet. Ilgaz doesn’t even look at him. He says, see the AG. He’s handling the case now.

Merdan gets info from one of his men. We bribed them (the boys) with a dishwasher, a washer and a TV and befriended them. Then they explained everything. They said a man showed them a body at the dump and told them to call the police. He gave them 250 TL. Who was the man, Merdan asks. A young fellow with a beard. And there was an older man, too. He seemed elegant. They argued a lot. Merdan smiles and says he has what he needs. [“Yekta!” and Ozgur.]

The Faker reveals his name—Selcuk. He made up the Dr. Cetin thing on the spot when he met Aylin. He had seen his business card. He’s been an engineer, teacher, butcher, and many others. His job is to create an identity. He says that tattooed name is of a young girl he killed by mistake.

Selcuk tells Aylin he really fell in love with her. [I don’t know if we should fall for his explanation.] He takes her hand. Think about it, okay? Can you love me as I am and keep my big secret? She’ll think about it. She needs time.

Derya tells Arda his secrets are coming to light. Your wife found out about your lover. Dila told us. You knew and came back early, right? He nods. You met with Dila that night and then you left, Derya says. She asks, where did you go to kill your wife? Ceylin tries to keep Derya in check. Let him (Arda) explain it himself.

Arda says, I didn’t kill anyone. Ceylin reminds, his wife and child are still missing. Arda continues, I was scared. I wanted to explain to my brother. But I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I went to the beach and spent the night there. I drank and fell asleep. I went home in the morning, and you know the rest. He cries.

Derya questions, you never proclaimed your innocence. If you didn’t commit a crime, why did you keep this from us? I was ashamed, Arda replies. This isn’t easy to admit. What am I going to do if my brother finds out? Derya asks, which beach? It’s in Sariyer. Derya says they will investigate his claim.

Cinar bought celebratory baklava with his first paycheck. He shares some with Goksu and Anil. He asks them if there is news on the case. She says yes, they are on their way to share it with Eren.

Secrets #81 part 2

Cinar makes his way to within earshot of Eren’s office. Goksu tells Eren they found Gul’s blood at the site. Osman’s blood, too. But the best is what we found at the entrance downstairs, where we found the bullet. Spatters of Serdar’s blood. Someone obviously cleaned the scene. He probably died there. Eren is upset thinking that they were lied to again.

Rat-fet brings beach camera footage to Derya. The suspect’s car was never spotted. Derya wants Arda taken to the judge. Ceylin thinks this was done too quickly. You didn’t examine the entire footage. Did you check all footage in the time frame described? You may have missed something. Maybe cameras were broken, maybe the car wasn’t in view of the cameras.

Derya says everything will be carefully reviewed. We aren’t judging anyone, but we need time to investigate. Ceylin wants it done before Arda goes before a judge. Arda proclaims his innocence. Rafet takes him outside.

Ceylin thinks Derya is treating her client like a criminal. Derya says they’re done and asks her to leave. Ceylin doesn’t leave. I’m your friend, she says, you’re tense because Pars hurt you and you’re taking it out on me and my client. [ugh, gossip Ozge is there.] How dare you, Derya replies. Are you suggesting I’m mixing business with my private life? She orders Ceylin to get out.

Yekta returns to his office and asks Aysun to check if Serdar’s file has been uploaded. Omer comes into the waiting room and he’s wearing an [IMO] ugly sweater. Yekta recognizes it as one of Engin’s. Omer says Lacin Teyze gave it to him. Yekta isn’t happy about this closeness with Lacin. Yekta retreats to his office and is shocked to find Merdan waiting there.

Merdan knocks over a lamp and smashes a vase. I’m aware of the problem and your end goal, grandpa says. The fire that feeds your anger, won’t be put out by my family’s tears. I don’t have time to figure out your level of involvement. I won’t let you touch my family. He gives Yekta a little push and warns, stay away from us, or I’ll wreck this place and your life.

Yekta picks up a ceramic and drops it to the floor. I’m used to being reborn like a phoenix. I don’t mind doing it again. He grabs Merdan by the collar. You can kidnap me from a gas station and hold me in my car, you can leave me stranded in the desert. I’m still here! I won’t back down! Merdan grabs Yekta and growls, if you want to be able to walk from your car next time, you’ll do what I say. Stay away from my family.

Merdan leaves and crosses paths with Haluk at the elevator. He warns Haluk, you’ve gone off course and made a deal with the devil. Be careful. Don’t let his fire affect you.
Cinar calls Merdan. They figured it out! We’re doomed! They know Serdar died there! They talked about blood. What are we going to do?

Haluk enters the office and sees the mess. He’s got doubts about Yekta’s ability to get the job done. He hasn’t heard anything new on Burak’s case. Articles about Burak are about to be published, Haluk shares, “The Only Serial Killer in the Country”, published by the paper he worked for. Can I show my face in public after that?

Yekta babbles, he won’t let that happen. Haluk is very upset that Yekta didn’t even know this bit of info. He threatens to pull the rug he placed for Yekta out from under his feet. You won’t see the light of day again. Everything you think you own is a mirage, he tells Yekta.

Pars asks Derya if something happened to her phone. She says it’s working fine and she’s blocking those who keep calling and texting her. She walks away from him.

Secrets #81 part 3

Eren is at the courthouse with more bad news. He asks Ilgaz and Ceylin to join him in Pars’ office. The kids’ statements don’t match the scene. Serdar was killed in that building by the docks. Ceylin asks, they are hiding something? Tell me they didn’t kill Serdar!

Everybody is brought back in for questioning. Merdan comes to Eren and says, I’m here to confess. Eren brings him to Pars’ office and says they didn’t call for Merdan, he came on his own. I’d like to give my statement, Merdan says. I did it. I killed Serdar.

Pars asks for details. Merdan says what was said was true, but incomplete. After Serdar took off, we decided to split up. I was the last to leave. I heard a noise. Serdar was hiding, I found him downstairs. He tried to shoot me. There’s a bullet stuck in a wall downstairs. That’s Serdar’s missing bullet. He came after me, I grabbed him by the neck. I used a knife to stab him in the space between his neck and shoulder. He fell to the floor.

He was hurt, but he was getting back up. I thought he was going to kill me. I grabbed a brick and hit him over the head. I didn’t want to kill him, but it was God’s will to take his last breath. I stayed there till nightfall, then I put him in my car. We see the flashback. Merdan was stopped by cops after he put Serdar in the trunk of his car. They ask him about gunshots in the area. Merdan says he’s got a hearing problem and didn’t hear anything. The cops move on. End flash.

Merdan hands over the key to his car. Check it, he says, you’ll find blood in the trunk. He continues, I took him to the dump. We see a brief flashback. Merdan explains that’s why he was late for dinner that night. He says he went back with Cinar the next day. Their phones were still there. Cinar had no idea that Serdar was dead. I gave him the phones and he left. Then I cleaned everything. I know the law and how the police act. I found everything and burned it. I was thorough. Everything that wasn’t flammable, I tossed into the sea. Merdan turns to Eren, you asked if I knew Mustafa. I do. I sent him to take the fall.

Merdan leaves the office, and everyone is there, waiting in the hallway for their turn. He tells them everything is fine, and they can go home. Eren takes Merdan away. Cinar follows and asks what’s happening. A cop holds him back. Eren says that Merdan is being arrested. Cinar slumps and sobs, Merve and Tugce comfort him. Parla cries as usual.

Ceylin comes out of the office and Gul asks what happened. Merdan killed Serdar, she replies. He confessed everything.

Pars gives the orders to have Merdan’s car inspected. And find the officers who spoke with him.

Ilgaz is distraught. He exits the office and sees everyone in the hallway. He goes to his office without saying a word. Ceylin heads in that direction but weepy Parla stops her. I did it, she confesses, I killed Serdar.

We get a flashback. Serdar takes Parla hostage and leaves with her. They are followed by Cinar and the other girls. Cinar grabs Serdar and they struggle. Cinar has him in a headlock. Serdar breaks free and aims the gun at Cinar. Merve stabs Serdar. He drops the gun. Cinar attacks Serdar again but Serdar knocks him down and starts choking him. The girls shout for them to stop.

Merdan heads towards the confrontation. Looks like he’s not well. The others head that way, too. Tugce grabs the gun and fires. [I guess that’s the shot that went into the wall.] Serdar gets up and heads for Tugce. He dares her to shoot him point blank. Tugce cries and Serdar grabs the gun.

Secrets #81 part 4

Serdar threatens to kill Cinar. He blames Cinar for everything. If he only let Inci go instead of trying to save her. He shouts, if you had left none of this would have happened! Parla picks up the brick and smashes Serdar over the head. Serdar goes down. The grown ups arrive on the scene.

Tugce checks Serdar and says he’s still alive. Parla says Serdar was going to kill Cinar. Osman makes a move towards Serdar and Merve holds him back. Merve shouts to call an ambulance. Gul cries, what have we done? She wants Aylin to call the cops. Merdan wants everyone to leave. He says he will get Serdar medical attention. Merve asks how.

Merdan says he can’t go to the hospital, there would be too many questions. The police would come. Aylin says let them come, he shot Osman. That’s not how it works, Merdan replies, we have a dinner tonight. Tend to your wounds, get dressed. Throw away your clothes. I’ll get him medical attention and then turn him into the police. We were never here, we haven’t seen Serdar, we don’t know anything, okay? Our secret. End flashback.

Eren brings Merdan to the holding cell. Merdan looks around, smiles and says… back again. Eren is very sad. Merdan tells him to wipe away his tears. We all end up where we deserve to be. Lock the door.

Ceylin can’t believe what she just heard. Parla says, it was me. Ilgaz comes out of his office. Someone brings him surveillance footage. Ceylin hurries Parla off to the bathroom. The Erguvan’s panic. Aylin realizes Parla told Ceylin. Ilgaz asks where Ceylin and Parla are going. The bathroom. Gul worries that Ceylin will tell Ilgaz. Aylin replies, over my dead body.

Cinar stops Ilgaz with a plea… Ilgaz, do something. He’s an elderly man. He’s going to go to prison because of that idiot! Serdar is dead and he deserved to die. He got rid of a scumbag! He saved us! Grandpa is a good man. You have to do something.

What would you like me to do, Ilgaz replies. Cinar doesn’t know but there’s gotta be something. Ilgaz fires back, the law isn’t a toy for the Kaya family. For you, for Dad, for all the eyes that were upon me, I held my head up high and supported you. I can continue to support you despite your actions, because I did the right thing. I acted in the name of justice. Everything has been explained and Grandpa gave his statement. We will do what must be done. Ilgaz walks away.

Ceylin asks Parla for details. Did you kill Serdar? Yes, she says, it was me.

Ilgaz visits Merdan. He asks, why? Why didn’t you call me, Grandpa? Half of them are children. The other half are members of a family. Didn’t you consider the consequences? They are innocent people. I can’t argue that you acted in self-defense. If you hadn’t gone to the dump, if you had called an ambulance before getting rid of the evidence, when he was still on the ground… but you already knew this. Why? You also paid an innocent man to take the fall.

Merdan Kaya is a magician, Ilgaz continues, he can make anything vanish. If he can’t, he’ll cover it up. We’re law officers. Did you think we’d believe it? Was it that easy to let go of Defne? Merdan asks him not to mention Defne, it breaks his heart. [Merdan looks heartbroken.]

“Ilgaz goes on and on” and I’m feeling bad for Merdan. It’s not like you care, Ilgaz answers back, you got her to love you… just like you did with me. You taught us to love you, so take responsibility for the love you instilled. What’s Defne going to do now? It was a mistake to expect any commitment from you. I hoped someone who abandoned his own children wouldn’t hurt a little girl who loves him so much.

Merdan says, stop this. We’re two sides of the same coin. We are night and day. If we stay together we will only grow weaker. I did things my way, now you will do the same. I killed him. Let me be punished.

Secrets #81 part 5

Parla says everyone kept quiet for her sake. When I hit him, I didn’t think he’d die. I did it to protect Cinar, she cries. He had a gun and was going to kill him. Someone walks in the bathroom and Ceylin hugs Parla. Let’s go out for some fresh air. Ceylin and Parla run into the rest of the family in the hallway. They want Parla to come with them.

Tolga rushes up to Ceylin—Arda is being taken before the judge. Ceylin walks away. Derya comes over and asks, where is Ceylin going? We have a hearing. Tolga tells her that Merdan confessed to killing Serdar. Derya is shocked. Tolga will attend the hearing.

Ceylin goes outside and tries to soothe herself. Aylin comes and sits next to her.

Parla is worried Ceylin is mad at her. Ilgaz walks over to Parla and asks if she’s alright. He tells her this wasn’t her fault. You were honest. Since I knew you would be, I asked if you remembered Serdar bleeding. Thank you, and I hope you learned from what happened. There will always be criminals in life and I assure you the law will always punish them. No one can escape the law. Ilgaz tells Gul she can go home. She asks what will happen with Merdan. He’ll be tried, Ilgaz replies. He walks away.

Aylin knows that Ceylin has the right to be upset. She says, we didn’t want to get you involved, but we ruined everything. Good that you kept me from a distance, Ceylin replies, you managed to stab me in the back. When I asked you to tell me… I’m sick of repeating myself. Aylin stops Ceylin from leaving.

Ceylin turns around, how could you allow this? How could you go along with Merdan’s plan? I can’t believe you? We didn’t know, Aylin answers, he didn’t tell us, we didn’t agree to anything. Great, Ceylin replies, so he sacrificed himself? Aylin, Merdan didn’t do this. He shouldn’t be punished for it! It’s wrong! You can’t do this to him!

We can and we will, Aylin replies. I… buried a child. That’s the worst pain there is. Do you think Deniz deserved to die? Now you’re asking me to let Parla go through this? Parla is fragile. She has panic attacks. Do you think she’s okay, now? She’s innocent. Think of what could happen to her in prison.

Aylin continues, I’m a bad mother, I know, and God is punishing me. God took my son and now it’s Parla’s turn. Would you do this to her? To us? We used to be a large family. There are only a few of us now. Haven’t we suffered enough? And he killed my father. We shouldn’t be sad. Don’t do this, Ceylin. I get it, he’s older and he isn’t well. It hurts me, too. But he made this sacrifice. If I lose Parla, I’ll die. [don’t tempt me to write an aside, Aylin.]

“Aylin goes on and on”. She’s putting a lot of pressure on Ceylin to keep the secret. Here come the azz kickers: I wouldn’t hesitate to kill myself. I’d take my last breath and I wouldn’t bless you. Parla would be in prison and I’d be in the grave. I just wanted you to know. [patio, place your own asides here.]

Merdan’s trunk is opened, yep, there’s blood. Pars tells Eren to take the car to the lab. Pars will speak with the officers who spoke with Merdan.

Ceylin visits Merdan. Why did you do it? What’s done is done, he replies. He’s underground, and I’m behind bars. Ceylin tells him she knows the truth. Parla…. Merdan interrupts, don’t do it dear. Don’t finish that sentence and don’t tell anyone. I committed the crime and I’ll serve the time. Ceylin says this is unfair.

Merdan is sure this the right thing to do. Justice has been done. If you knew the truth, he tells her, you’d understand. There’s more, she asks. I only mentioned it to Cinar, he says, but since you know the truth, I’ll let you in on another secret. I’m dying. Ceylin is shocked. I don’t have much time, he says.

Secrets #81 part 6

Ceylin is in tears. Merdan Dede, what are you saying? Forget about me, he replies, Parla is young, just starting to live. She’ll go to school, get married, and be a mother [hopefully not with Cinar.] I’ll get to die in peace. Plus, I know the place. You go in strong and leave as a shadow of your former self. People are never the same afterwards. She’d be facing a minimum of 15 years. Don’t fight this. She’d either be killed or kill herself.

Ceylin worries about Merdan. I’m happy, he says, I’ve lived a lot, I’ve seen a lot. I’ve suffered a lot, too. I’ve also hurt a lot of people. Including my own children. Nothing can erase what I did, so for a dog like Serdar, it’s not worth it. He takes Ceylin’s hand. Let Parla shine, don’t ruin her life, don’t snuff out that light. He goes back to sit on the bench. [another wow scene from Grandpa Merdan.]

Ceylin makes a beeline to the bathroom and washes her face. She sinks to the floor and sobs.

Yekta has Omer tidying up his office. Aysun comes in and hands him a copy of the statement. Merdan is the murderer, he notes with glee. His last hurrah before going to prison. We need to prepare for the hearing. [Omer is so creepy with that blank stare.] Yekta tells her to get the lawyer they just hired. Omer offers his help. Yekta says ok, he can take notes.

The cops’ statements match what Merdan said. Eren is about to head to the crime lab. Ilgaz wants to go with him, but he needs to do something first.

Arda cries as he leaves the courtroom. The gendarmes take over to transport him to prison. Derya stops them. She asks Arda, why are you so stubborn? Aren’t you going to tell us where your wife and child are? I don’t know, he cries, I told you. It’s your job to find them! My wife and daughter could be dead now because of you! Their deaths are on you! Derya says to take him away. Arda keeps shouting at her.

Derya calls Rafet. [does this guy ever do any work?] She asks him for an update on Arda’s missing family. We are looking into multiple theories, he replies, but nothing worth reporting right now. Derya is not pleased. She asks, how many agents are investigating the case? What are these theories? Where are you looking?

He babbles…she needs results. I want them now! She opens her office door and Pars is standing there. He asks if she’s okay. She asks, what is it, başsavcı? He starts, Derya, can we please talk? I haven’t slept in days. I keep replaying our last conversation in this office and I’m not sure why you’re mad at me. I feel like my attempts to make amends are useless. I can own up to my mistake. I was an idiot and shouldn’t have rushed the proposal. She ignores him and pours herself a glass of water.

Pars continues, but had I known you’d react like this, I wouldn’t… she interrupts, you couldn’t have guessed it because you don’t know me. And I don’t know you. I don’t know you, he asks. I think we’re comfortable with each other. Really, she replies, I was hurt, upset and saddened by your behavior. So what did I do?

Are you asking me, Pars responds. Yes. Pars doesn’t know, he tries to figure it out. He asks, did you walk on the beach and look at the sea? Did you listen to music? I don’t know. I’m confused by what you are asking. You took a few guesses, she says, but you got it all wrong. I cried in bed for hours, like a child. Since our last conversation, I haven’t eaten very well, my stomach is in knots.

I’m sorry, Pars tells her, that’s all I can say now. She tells him to go rot, because he deserves it. I couldn’t believe it. How could you suggest we do that to get out of trouble? How could you say it before you felt you wanted to do it? That’s not normal. It’s not like planning a trip or going to dinner. You acted like you thought of something amazing. I never felt so useless. Thank you. Let’s just drop it. She leaves the office.

Secrets #81 part 7

Ceylin stands outside of Ilgaz’s office, trying to steady herself before she goes in. Ilgaz immediately rises from his chair and goes to her. Are you okay? Where were you? I looked for you. I feel weak in the knees, she says, I can’t explain how much it hurts. I feel like I can’t breathe. Ilgaz notes, you care very much about him (Merdan).

Ilgaz agrees it hurts to lose him like that. If he had told the truth, we would have found a way. We could have saved them all, but we didn’t get a choice. Sometimes people can’t tell the truth, she replies. Ilgaz says they can. It’s easier than lying. Only those who are afraid of losing, lie. She sobs.

Ceylin says, your grandfather is sick. He doesn’t have much time to live. What do you mean, Ilgaz replies. Ceylin says he just told her. Ilgaz thinks he might be lying. Why would he lie about this, Ceylin asks. He would, Ilgaz answers, he’s done it before.

Ceylin says she’s going home and writing a report. I’ll prove he’s sick. I’ll have a doctor examine him and I’ll assemble a team for his case. He’ll be given house arrest. We can’t let him die in there. They hug. Ilgaz says he knows good criminal lawyers, we’ll have one of them handle it. I don’t want you to do it. Ceylin wants to do it. She leaves the office.

Gul asks Cinar if he knew his grandfather would do this. No, he replies, if I had known I wouldn’t have allowed it. Parla drops her bag. Osman says it was a grand gesture that Merdan made. No one else would have done it. It’s sad, but there’s nothing we can do. How can we live with this, Parla asks. Will we be able to get along with them? Osman says of course. What do you think would happen if they learned the truth?

Tugce thinks Osman is right. Merdan is a great guy, but there’s nothing we can do. All we can do is help Ceylin get him a lighter sentence. But he’s sick, Parla says, shouldn’t we be fair to him?

Ceylin knocks at Metin’s door. Metin knows. He confessed? Why would he do that? Ceylin says to ask Ilgaz and he can explain. I’m here for another reason. I need to check Merdan’s room. He’s sick. It’s very serious. Ceylin enters the house.

A reporter, Berkhan Tokdemir, comes to see Ilgaz. He plans to publish a series of articles about Burak. Ilgaz says that case is closed, and the records were made public. Yes, Berkhan replies, but it was a very sensationalized case. People were slandered. A serial killer murdered 10 people and I want to tell the truth.

Ilgaz reminds Berkhan that he is a public servant. Berkhan says he is familiar with the protocol. He filed his request with the Ministry’s press department. I have consent. You can grant me an interview if you want.

Rat-fet enters Eren’s office. He dumps a new case on him. Find Sevin and her daughter (Arda’s family). Eren says he’s still busy with Serdar’s case. Don’t you know how to multitask, the Rat asks. Eren asks about Missing Persons taking the case. Don’t they have plenty of agents? Rafet says to tell that to DA Derya. He won’t talk to her again. He tells Eren, go talk to her and hurry. Eren has some choice words when Rafet leaves. Pick from the translations: English- stupid bastard, Spanish: hijo de perra, idiota del demonio, or Turkish: go f yourself.

Ilgaz comes to see Pars. He tells him about the reporter doing a story on Burak. The Ministry approved his request. Pars knows. Ilgaz asks Pars opinion, should he talk to the reporter? Pars says he will leave it up to Ilgaz.

Ilgaz senses something is wrong with Pars. And Pars admits there’s something wrong. He says, everyone is in a relationship, or they have a fling. [except Eren, whose wife won’t allow it.] Everything works out for them, and they move forward. But not me. I’m stuck. Ilgaz asks, is she still angry about the proposal?

Secrets #81 part 8

Yes, Pars replies, but it’s more serious than that. I don’t think it’s going to work out. There are things I never said, and she misinterpreted my intentions. She accuses me of things I haven’t done. This isn’t the first time. Where’s the Relationship Guidebook? I’d read it!

It’s not just you, Ilgaz commiserates, no one understands. I’m no expert but I think there’s one rule. If someone opens up to you and they don’t understand you, you have to keep opening up to them and you can’t give up. Tilt your head, shrug and say it again. If she wants to go, let her. If she doesn't, she won’t. I think love is the art of not giving up. And I think you’re a little rusty. Allah aşkına, Pars replies, come on. Ilgaz says he will leave and let Pars think. Pars responds, first you confuse me, then you leave.

Ceylin and Metin look through Merdan’s room. They can’t find anything. Metin says he will look in Merdan’s office. He will find out which hospital he visited, what tests he had done and what doctor he saw. Ceylin asks him to keep in touch with her.

Ilgaz meets with the reporter. He asks, could Burak Yildirim be the country’s first serial killer? I don’t know if he was the first or not, Ilgaz replies, but I will answer. He took the lives of many, but he wasn’t a serial killer. Are you saying we don’t have serial killers in our country, Berkhan asks.

Ilgaz can’t say but he does say, in our culture, individuals are closer to society. They can’t isolate themselves even if they want to. They will at least talk to their neighbors, a janitor, a store owner. There’s always someone involved in their lives. It makes it difficult to go unnoticed. This is how it normally happens—someone commits a crime and there’s a witness or someone knows their secret, this person has to die. That doesn't make the culprit a serial killer.

Berkhan asks, do you think anyone can become a killer? Was Burak right?

And we are out.

secrets

Thanks again, dondi. Fantastic recap with great asides.

Not to toot my own horn, but I do remember wondering if Selcuk (formerly Fake Cetin) could have been in the Turkish version of the CIA. I'm 50:50 on believing him. But I'd still prefer her forgiving Osman. Besides, Selcuk may be in love now, but I'm pretty sure he'd tire of Aylin. I definitely am tired of Aylin.

I am not liking Derya's behavior. I just think it's ridiculous that she's blaming Pars for everything. I'm reading a novel with the same dumb plot: a woman gets irate and refuses to forgive a man for not proposing marriage the way she wanted it to happen.

Cinar is very handsome in the very few scenes where he's relaxed and happy. These are few and far between.

Jeez, Lacin is giving Omer Engin's clothes. The woman is not right in the head. And ITA about that creepy, emotionless stare.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Merdan telling Yekta he wouldn't hesitate to...something, kill him, I guess. But how will Merdan follow through with bringing Yekta's reign to a close if he's in prison?

I'm not even sure that's the last flashback.

That was a very sad scene when Ilgaz got all self-righteous with Merdan. Sometimes he's just too squeaky clean and that was not the time to unload on Merdan.

Another crazy instance of a person blamed for something that was self-defense or saving a life. Why didn't these people just call the cops and say that Parla killed Serdar (if she did) to prevent him choking Cinar to death? Instead they all end up in a big mess.

Amen on "don't tempt me, Aylin". Anyone who threatens relatives with suicide if they don't get what they want gets no quarter from me. And, again, why does Merdan have to take the rap for Parla's saving Cinar's life? And Merdan told Ilgaz she'd get 15 years? Doesn't make sense to me. She didn't even plan to kill him, only stop his choking Cinar.

Rat-fet does nada and dumps work on Eren. Sigh.

Metin just smiles when Ceylin asks how he can find out where Merdan got his treatment. He still has plenty of cards to play.

Again, thanks, dondi. I'm sorry, but these people are driving me nuts!

Secrets

Thanks, Dondi. I got a kick out of your translation options for Eren's insult after Rafet left.

All the flashbacks of Serdar's death make him appear to be quite the street fighter, when he was really just stupid and lazy.

I'm not buying that Fake Cetin is an intelligence agent. Why tell Aylin that he's a doctor, when he had no way to back this up? Why not make himself a regular joe?

It's a shame Merdan is going to prison, but I do blame him and the other adults present for not simply calling the police.

Favorite scene: Yekta finding Merdan in his office.

secrets

I appreciate the comments!

Props to you, novelera for mentioning secret agent Faker. But I have my doubts it's true. I'd rather see Aylin with Osman, too.

Derya is ridiculous.

I am enjoying every scene with Merdan. The scene in Yekta's office was great, especially in the Turkish. Maybe Merdan can send him some special baklava!

Recap coming now.

Secrets #82 part 1

Quote for Turkish ep #47: "...unspoken pain shatters the heart..." - William Shakespeare

Berkhan asks, do you think anyone can become a killer? Was Burak right? Ilgaz answers, yes, he or she could find themselves in such a situation. But killing someone and wanting to kill someone are two different things. Having the desire to kill sets you apart from others.

Ceylin asks Tolga to write a motion objecting to Arda’s arrest. And find evidence he was at the beach that night. Ceylin rubs her head, she’s got a headache. She calls her mother and asks for everyone involved to come to the house.

Ceylin sits out front of the house. Defne comes to her. Why are you sitting here? Were you abandoned, too? Defne feels abandoned by her grandfather. She says, Dad kicked him out of the house. Cinar left with him. I sat here like you’re sitting here now. She cries, why does everyone I love leave me? What’s going to happen? I love my dad and grandpa very much but they always argue.

Ceylin starts crying. Defne asks if it’s because of her. No, Ceylin replies, it’s because my loved ones also hurt me. I didn’t do anything wrong. Defne gives her a hug.
The interview is over. Ilgaz wants to review the piece before it’s published.

Ceylin arrives at her mother’s. She doesn’t even take off her shoes. Ceylin asks Cinar, why did your dad kick your grandfather out? Does Metin know about his condition? No, Cinar replies, it’s unrelated. Does anyone besides us know the truth? No. You know the gravity of the situation, Ceylin says, and where we are headed. You all agreed to let Merdan take the fall. Long story short, Gul says it’s heartbreaking, but Parla comes first.

Aylin justifies it by saying Merdan was worried about Parla. He gave it thought. He wouldn’t have done it if he didn’t want to. Gul asks if Merdan is really dying. Is there no treatment? Cinar says there is no cure. Ceylin asks again, does everyone agree with Merdan’s choice? Cinar? He will go to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. You have every right to oppose this. The time is now. Cinar says nothing.

Ceylin says if they all agree, they can figure something out. Everyone is silent and Ceylin takes that as agreement. She starts, from now on, you won’t speak a word of this to anyone. Don’t even discuss it amongst yourselves. [I wonder who will be the first to break.] Stop thinking about it. If anyone finds out, we’re doomed, not just Parla. And if Ilgaz finds out, there will be no stopping him. He will turn Parla in himself.

Cinar tells Ceylin if Ilgaz finds out she knew, he will leave her. Their marriage will end. Ceylin is aware. She says, we will do our best to keep that from happening. The secret will be buried in this room. Ceylin gets up and goes. Gul follows and gives her a useless apology on behalf of herself, Aylin, and everyone. You set a bomb under my marriage and you hold the detonator, Ceylin replies. I hope it won’t go off.

Ceylin whimpers outside the house. Cinar comes outside and they give each other a comforting hug.

Merdan’s car is examined. Eren looked at camera footage. Merdan drove straight to the dump.

Cinar lets Ceylin know that Ozgur told him where Serdar was that day. He gave me a gun, Cinar says. Where is that gun, Ceylin asks, at the bottom of the sea? Yes, Cinar replies. He’s asked for it back and I’ve been avoiding him. Ceylin tells him to keep avoiding Ozgur and to let her know if he contacts him.

Ceylin leaves and Parla comes out of the house. Cinar! Ooooh, he keeps walking and doesn’t even look back at her. She runs back into the house and tells everyone, I’m going to confess. And everyone is stunned as Parla adds, I’m going to the station, I’ll tell them it was me.

Secrets #82 part 2

Parla has finally cried herself to sleep. [thank goodness, because I can’t take it.] Hide her phone, Aylin says, we’ll keep her busy. Gul says they will figure something out. Aylin turns to Osman, this includes you, you’re her father. [and only a short while ago she wanted to exclude him.] Look, that man took the fall for her, but you’re the one who should be protecting your daughter. [And you, Aylin? How about you?] Are you thinking about a plan?

Osman says he’s thinking. [do any of these people a functioning brain?] What do people do in this situation, Aylin asks. Osman thinks they send the person away. Let’s send her abroad, he says. Because it’s so easy to get a passport and a visa, Aylin snarks. Osman says it can be done.

Lol, Pars is in Eren’s office, doing relationship research online. Derya arrives. It’s a little awkward.

Ceylin comes home and overhears a phone convo between Ilgaz and a friend. The friend is going to be a father. Ilgaz says, we’d like to have a child, too, but you know it just doesn’t work like that. Ilgaz sees Ceylin. He keeps talking to his friend and Ceylin hurries into the bedroom. She quickly undresses and hops into bed.

Ilgaz ends the call and enters the bedroom. She wants the lights off. She’s not feeling well. Her head and stomach hurt. Maybe a migraine. Ilgaz is concerned. She just wants to sleep.

Eren updates Derya on Arda’s case, while Pars stands quietly nearby. Messages that show he was cheating, the nanny found out and threatened him, so he fired her. Sevin visited the gynecologist four times in one month. She complained about a stomachache. Derya wonders what’s so strange about that. Eren says these were fake reports. The doctor and Sevin were friends in school. Sevin attended med school but didn’t finish.

Eren asks, why haven’t we spoken to Arda’s brother? Derya compliments Eren on his work. He found out more in a few hours than she did with Rafet. Derya wants to question the doctor. She gets ready to leave. Pars signals Eren and Eren asks Derya to wait in the office while he gets a report for her.

Pars notes it’s been raining all day. He offers to give Derya a ride home since she doesn’t like to drive in the rain. She says that’s why she took a taxi. Poor Pars cannot catch a break.

Ilgaz brings Ceylin some soup, painkillers and vitamins. [is there a cure for guilt?] Is that a hot water bottle? He can’t relax and sleep while she’s in pain? Is this man for real? Anyway, it’s tarhana soup. It was made by the good cook downstairs. He wants to talk to you later. Ilgaz is going to give her foot rub, too? She eats the soup, and the guilt eats away at her.

The awkwardness at the station continues. Derya says whatever Eren wants to tell her can wait. He can call. She gets up and says goodnight to Pars.

Metin knocks on Ilcey’s door. He hands Ceylin papers tells her that Merdan’s doc sent requests (for appointments), but Merdan missed them. The doctor believes he is ill but that’s not enough. Metin says he’s not done looking.

Ilgaz asks his dad if he’s talked to Defne. No, he hasn’t. But spending time with her has made her feel better, Metin says. We have to tell her. Ilgaz asks his dad to call him when Cinar returns. Metin says Cinar might stay at the pool hall. It’s not a good idea. Talk to him.

Secrets #82 part 3

Ceylin goes back to the bedroom and Ilgaz follows her. I know what’s going through your mind, he says. You’re thinking about working with my father. Law firms do it. Am I wrong? She says he’s wrong. But you thought about it, he replies, I know you and I can see what goes on in that head of yours. She turns on her side, away from him—good night. You really love my grandfather, he notes, that’s why you’re working so hard. You’re in pain because you are sad. That’s Merdan Kaya… he makes his way into your heart even if you don’t want him to. And then he destroys everything and turns his back on you. He doesn’t mind leaving you under the rubble.

The Idiot Family looks for passport info online. It takes 18 days to be processed! Gul asks, can’t it be done faster? [lol, you gotta wait months for a US passport right now.] Osman says if they knew someone, maybe they could get it done faster. [Uh oh, Aylin knows someone.]

Ilgaz is about to leave for work and Pars is at his door. Pars wanted to have this conversation there instead of at the courthouse. The blood and hair found in the car belonged to Serdar. The officers’ statements match. Merdan will be taken to the court at noon. He tampered with evidence, he has priors. No judge will grant his release. He will be remanded until the day of his trial. Ceylin is listening from the bedroom.

Pars says, since he’s an older man… Ilgaz interrupts—no. He’ll get what he deserves. Do what needs to be done. He’s my grandfather but a crime is a crime. We have a reputation for not showing favoritism. Pars says, since he’s older, we could ask to expedite things. Ilgaz turns him down again. [Ilgaz can’t bend due to that stick that’s been permanently placed somewhere in his body.] Pars leaves.

Ilgaz goes to the bedroom. You heard him. Get up, avukat. Ceylin doesn’t feel like getting up and doing anything. Ilgaz understands. He knows it hurts. You feel guilty because Serdar was involved, he says, I understand that, too. You think this is about your family, but it’s not that. [but it is, Ilgaz, it is.] Why does mankind have a mind and free will? So they can control their will and impulses. So they can make choices. He’s twice our age, shouldn’t he know better? [stick-ectomy, stat!] Ilgaz says he’ll walk, she can have the car.

Eren brings Arda’s brother, Ahmet, to see Derya. And he tells her the doctor is on her way. Ahmet asks if they are still looking for his SIL and niece. That’s why we called you, Derya replies. We hope you can help us. Ahmet asks how. He doesn’t know where they are. If I knew, he asks, why would I need you? Eren tells him to answer when he’s asked. Derya asks Eren to wait outside.

Metin takes Defne to school. He sees Ceylin in the car and taps on the window. Was Pars here, he asks, when is the hearing? In the afternoon. Metin says he will be there.

DNA samples are taken from Yekta and his possible and possibly evil spawn, Omer. Lacin asks when will the results be ready. Two weeks. Yekta says, we won’t tell anyone until we get the results. He asks Omer, how do you know your mother wasn’t lying, that she didn’t push you in my direction? If she were to search for “law”, Tilmen Firm would be the first thing that would pop up. Omer scratches his neck.

Maybe she lied, Yetka grouses, you look nothing like me. Wait and see, Lacin tells him, it’s just two weeks. We’ll see, he replies. He warns, if we get a negative result, you’ll be dealing with at great group of lawyers. As you see fit, Omer responds, I’m going.

You’re trying to get rid of him, Lacin says, he’s your son. You’ll see. That’s what you’re hoping for, Yekta replies, don’t think I haven’t noticed. You’re hoping to find another Engin but you’re wasting your time.

Secrets #82 part 4

Aylin meets with Selcuk at a restaurant. I cannot stomach this guy and the two of them together. She asks him for help expediting the passport. She thinks it would be easy for him to do. He doesn’t look too eager but asks for more info. She tells him it’s for her daughter. [why, Aylin, why?]

Cinar is already at the courthouse when Ilgaz arrives. Since Cinar is there very early, Ilgaz suggests that they go to the park to talk.

Cetin is away from the table on a call. Ok, I understand, he says. Is that it? Is that the final price? I’ll get back to you. He goes back to the table and tells Aylin he found someone who can handle it. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, he says. We will get your daughter abroad. She’s grateful. He says there’s a price for this… $40,000. And that’s a discount from $50,000. He says he’s got $20,000 so if she puts up the other 20… Aylin says she’ll get the money. And BTW, don’t tell anyone, this is a secret. Your secret is safe with me, he says. She leaves. [What kind of smile is that, Selcuk?]

Ilgaz tells Cinar he gets it. Dad is difficult and you argued. But that’s your home. Why did you leave? You’re on the right track and fine now. Keep moving forward. Why are you trying to destroy everything over again?

Cinar says, there’s nothing I can do. What is there to destroy? I’m not blaming you alone, Ilgaz replies, you all worked together. You’re angry with someone you love, but I don’t want you to get into trouble again. We know Grandpa did it. The case is over and closed. Let’s start over. Let’s not make any more mistakes.

Cinar hands Ilgaz a paper. Take this and let me go. It’s Cinar’s resignation letter. Ilgaz is upset. What were we just talking about? You got me the job, Cinar says, so I felt I should give it to you. Don’t worry, I’ll start from scratch. Grandpa is being detained today and I’ll take his place. I’ll handle everything.

What are you talking about, Ilgaz asks, you’re going to manage the pool hall? Are you sure it’s only used to play pool? If you manage that place, can you really lead a decent life? Is this the life you want? To become Merdan? Never! Ilgaz tears up the letter and stuffs it in Cinar’s pocket. I won’t let you do that! Never mention it again!

Cinar answers back, who are you to tell me what to do? I’m an adult [in years maybe, not common sense] Stop, Ilgaz says, don’t start with this. You’re talking to me like a 5 year old with stupid ideas. [lol]. Then let me grow up, Cinar whines, it’s my life! I won’t let you ruin your life, Ilgaz declares.

Cinar says, everything happens the way you want it to. You put me at the station to watch me. You didn’t ask what I wanted or if I needed anything. You always say I’m no good, I can’t do anything right. That I’m always in trouble. I always make bad decisions. I don’t know how to conduct myself. [He checked all the boxes.]

Cinar continues, by saying that, you never allowed me to grow. You’re treating me like a child even now. I’m done, I can’t go on. I lack the strength to be okay and find a path. What’s strange is that I don’t want to. You know why? Because thanks to you, I know that I’m good for nothing, I’m nothing. My mistakes won’t go away because of your ridiculous rules and regulations.

“Cinar goes on and on.” I made my mistakes, it’s none of your business. And BTW, the only person who loves me, and who understands me is Grandpa. He loves me unconditionally. It’s difficult for me to get you and dad to love me. Cinar walks. Wow, that shut Ilgaz down.

Secrets #82 part 5

The doctora tells Derya that Sevin came to her because of stomach pain. Four times? Yes. What is your diagnosis? I don’t have one, the doc says, I couldn’t diagnose her. Derya notes, no tests, exams, ultrasound. She came and left. Are you hiding something? Doc says no. I thought it was psychosomatic. Was Ms. Sevin healthy? Yes. What do you think upset her to give her stomachaches? The doc looks a little nervous.

Pars tells Eren, we need to be careful. We can’t ruin this. I need to be careful. Eren says, you’re asking me to break into Derya’s house. If she catches me, she’ll ruin me! Calm down, Pars replies, it’s not a crime, I have a spare key. She never said I couldn’t go to her house unannounced. We aren’t doing anything wrong, I’m doing it for love.

Eren laughs and Pars asks why. Eren says he was joking, and he takes the key from Pars. I’ll go in and out, no one will know. I assure you she will say yes. But you should have a speech ready. Pars says he can’t think of anything now. I’ll be spontaneous and say whatever comes to mind. [this should be entertaining.]

Derya knocks and enters. Pars barks at Eren, as a cover, to send him on his way. Derya tells Eren she wants Sevin’s doctor followed. Derya leaves. Eren turns back to Pars and makes the heart sign… he whispers, evlen evlen (get married). Pars chases him out and shuts the door.

Ceylin meets with Merdan. He’s ready. Ceylin wants him to know she doesn't agree with this. She doesn’t like what’s going to happen to him and that they have to lie to so many people. Merdan doesn’t think it’s a lie. Ceylin says she used to think that way. An omission wasn’t a lie. Until I met Ilgaz. I learned what it meant to lie. She asks him how many people on his end know the secret. He says no one.

Then Merdan thinks about the boys who found the body. He tells Ceylin about the two men who showed them and gave them money to call the cops. I think they’re “Yekta!” and Ozgur. The dog and his master. How did they know you went to the dump, Ceylin asks. Merdan doesn’t know.

Ilgaz replays Cinar’s words. Pars comes in and says it’s time for the judge.

Eren enlists Umut’s help on the Derya mission.

Tolga tells Ceylin he couldn’t prove Arda was at the beach. He also tells her Derya is getting ready to write the indictment. Metin shows up and Ceylin asks for his help in proving where a client was at the time of an incident.

Yekta shows up at the courthouse and runs into our group. Oh, my favorite family, he says, we are about to get started. They all turn and walk away from him.

Aylin is at the RE office. She’s looking to sell her place so she can get the cash for Parla’s passport. Osman calls and she doesn’t answer. The agent has a client that might be interested. Aylin asks him to keep it quiet.

Merdan is brought into the hallway to wait for the hearing. He sits with Ceylin. It looks like Merdan has some type of nuts in his hand. He says, when Ilgaz was very young, he had some of these. We promised to crack them and eat them the next day, but that day never came. He hands the nuts to Ceylin and says, be careful, dear. His anger is greater than his love. Are you talking about Ilgaz, she asks. He is. You’ve never known him to hate anyone, have you?

The judge is ready. The Erguvans with Tugce and Merve show up, too. Parla is already in high lacrimation mode. She has to be warned to hold back. Gul speaks with Metin. He asks her why they came. How could we not, she replies, we are a family in good times and bad. Parla starts to have a panic attack. Yekta keenly observes.

Secrets #82 part 6

Merdan and Ceylin stand before the judge. He asks if there’s anything they’d like to say. Ceylin speaks about the deceased. He was a fugitive and wanted for murder. The judge says, if you are suggesting he deserved to die, there is no death penalty in our country. That’s not the point, Ceylin replies, Serdar was about to escape and Merdan Kaya and the others stopped him. Serdar threatened them with a gun. Merdan tried to stop him while fighting for his life, but he didn’t act with intent to kill.

The judge asks Merdan’s age. 75. The judge says as an adult, he should have known what happens when you hit someone. You also said he waited to inform the police. Can you explain why he waited? Ceylin answers, he waited for nightfall because he feared being arrested. She says Serdar died instantly. He acted to stop him, not to kill him. Sadly, my client has a terminal illness. The diagnosis is in the file. He shouldn’t be sent to prison. We demand house arrest.

The judge asks Merdan if he has anything to say. Merdan replies, I will abide by your decision, Your Honor.

Merdan and Ceylin exit the office. The gendarmes take Merdan. Ilgaz tells Ceylin, you did your best. Yekta quips, have you been disappointed again, Ceylin? Keep working and you’ll learn. Parla tries to talk to Merdan. She’s told to step back. Ilgaz allows her to give Merdan a hug. She sobs uncontrollably. He comforts her. Ceylin makes excuses and pulls Parla away.

Merdan entrusts the children to Gul. He asks— hakkını helal et. Yekta tells him, Allah kurtarsın—may God save you. Pars and Eren also say this to Ilgaz.

Ceylin goes over to Yekta and asks, how are you involved in this? I’m here as a lawyer, he answers, isn’t that allowed? He laughs, I couldn’t miss you guys saying goodbye. She walks away. Omer stares. Merdan is brought out to the transport van. He acknowledges everyone with a raised hand and gets inside.

Ceylin calls Eren aside. Do you think Yekta is involved? Merdan left Serdar at the dump and then he was found there. You remember he said he covered his body. But the kids said they found him while going through the trash. Ceylin asks, do you think Yekta was at the dump that night? Eren says he’ll look into it but Yekta will somehow get out of it.

What if Yekta planned everything, the passport and having Cinar find out, Ceylin asks. Eren replies, he will say he didn’t tell Cinar to kill Serdar. All Ceylin wants is the truth. We can’t get rid of Yekta. He’s always in the way. Won’t you help me? He will. She tells him not to tell Ilgaz.

Eren and Pars are in the car. Pars complains that Eren took his time, now they won’t have time to buy the ring. Eren asks him where his bodyguards are. Pars says he gave them the day off. We can’t get the surprise ready with them by my side. Eren laughs because Pars is nervous and grouchy.

Ilcey drive and Ceylin suggests a place to eat. Turn here, she says. He keeps going. He has other plans. She asks, where are we going? We’ll see, he replies. She realizes they are leaving the city. Where are we going, she asks again. He tells her, somewhere far away. I’m kidnapping you. We need to regain our strength. We need to get away.

She gives reasons not to go. She has work. Tolga will handle it, he answers. We don’t have clothes. We can buy some, he replies. I want to spend alone time with you. [before you destroy me with lies and send me to my death.] Ceylin thinks this doesn’t sound like him at all. He says, I’ve changed, aren’t you happy?

Ilgaz and Ceylin sing along.

Secrets #82 part 7

He’s taken her to Kapadokya (Cappadocia). The other places she’d like to visit are Mardin (say hi to ReyMir if you see them) and Karadeniz (Black Sea). He talks about being at the Black Sea with friends.

Pars calls Ceylin. He’s making good on the 24/7 love advice offer. He’s getting ready for the proposal. But he’s got a question: should I ask in person or send it in writing? She says, in person, of course! Look at her and ask her if she will marry you. Keep eye contact. I’ll pretend you didn’t ask that.

Ceylin asks if he got flowers. Yes. A nice dinner? He didn’t think of it. Wrong! She says, you need a nice meal for after. Think of her and be considerate. She needs to feel appreciated. Music, you need music. Get speakers so the room is filled with music and candles. And you need to speak from the heart. Press all the buttons at the same time, it will be magic. Pars says he regrets calling, he’s more nervous than ever. He’s hanging up and he thanks her.

Ilgaz asks if Pars is proposing. Yep. He asks Ceylin if anyone ever proposed to her before. Yes, once in college and once during her internship. Are you keeping the rings? No, she doesn’t remember but she probably sold them.

She turns the tables. How did you propose to Neva? It wasn’t much of a proposal, he says, we decided to do it and then we were engaged. Were you in love with her? Ilgaz gives the perfect answer: you helped me see that I was never in love before. I cared about her, he says, she was a good woman. Ceylin asks, she was your first, right? No… he starts to go through a list… she doesn’t want to hear it. If you don’t want to hear the answer, don’t ask the question. There are love yous and kisses.

Gul calls Ceylin. She tells her mom she’s okay and in Kapadokya because Ilgaz wanted to go. She hopes this won’t be their last vacation together. Allah korusun! God forbid. Ilcey go to their room. No talk about family or people who bother us, Ilgaz says, nothing boring. [I have feeling they won’t be doing much talking, anyway.] Let’s shut the world out until we go back. Kisses and then the Turkish censors intervene.

Eren’s questioning the Garbage Patch Kids. He shows them pictures. Darn, Rat-fet is leaving and sees them.

Pars is falling asleep in his car when Derya arrives home in a taxi. He makes a quick call to Eren. She’s going inside. Is everything ready? Yes, Eren replies, the rest is up to you.

Derya looks exhausted. She hangs her coat, takes off her shoes. Wait, there’s lit candles. [why are they playing Ilcey’s theme?] Derya goes to the bedroom. There’s a rose on the bed and something under the blanket. A ring box? Pars appears in the doorway. I’d love to make you laugh as much as I made you cry. She’s a bit startled. I wanted to make a grand entrance, but I couldn’t, he says, this is very hard for me.

Pars says she is right. We don’t know each other well, but I want to change that. I’m curious about everything about you. I want to know more. I want to sleep and wake up by your side. I want your scent on my skin until morning. I want to memorize your body, know how many breaths you take before you wake up. All that. I know you’re mad and I don’t know when that will change. I’d like to know when you’ll start to forget your anger, so I can act accordingly.

He continues, I didn’t know what flowers to buy. What’s your favorite? What’s your favorite movie? What was the last show you watched on TV. For example, if I start to watch a movie, I’ll finish it even if I don’t like it. Do you do that? I don’t like art films, do you? I don’t know how you like your eggs. Boiled, soft, fried? How long do you boil them? More than 5 minutes? It’s important I know.

Secrets #82 part 8

“Pars goes on and on.” [but it’s in a good cause.] Do you like cake? Dill? I get cold often, so I wear wool underwear [TMI, Pars.] Wool is itchy, does it make you itch? What’s your day like when you are in a bad mood? What I’m trying to say is that I don’t know you, Derya. I’d like to know more about you.

Don’t cry, he tells her. He sits next to her on the bed and puts his hand on her cheek. Does your mascara run when you cry? Yes, I see, but it makes my heart happy to see your eyelashes. What do you think about before you go to bed? What music soothes your mind? Do you read poetry or listen to music after a bad day? Is the following morning hard because of a bad night? I don’t know.

Is Pars really talking about riding a bus? Someone cutting a line? Somehow, this is important to him. Do you sing in the shower? I do. [I can’t continue to write this stuff down! Lol!] I think Pars has asked every question there is. He’s sorry… he’s so excited. I’m curious, he says, who are you? I want to learn the answer and lose myself in you.

He opens the box and there’s a diamond ring. I can’t say we’ll always be happy, he tells her, or if we will be. The world isn’t a perfect place, so our marriage can’t be perfect. But I want to grow old with you and I hope you want that too. What do you say? She kisses him! She says, I want to grow old by your side. I want that. I want that. They embrace.

Ilcey actually took their clothes off to make love! Ilgaz is so sound asleep even a call on Ceylin’s phone doesn’t wake him. It’s Eren. Ceylin gets out of bed to take the call. Eren says she was right, there were two men. Ceylin asks if they knew any names. No. They said one was old, he had his back to them. The young man was at a distance, and it was dark. I showed them pics but they weren’t sure. How can we find out, Ceylin asks. Eren says they could check footage. Let’s ask Pars. Ceylin says they can’t. No crime was committed.

Eren says they found blood at the dump, but they don’t know whose it is. It could be Yekta’s or the other guy’s. He’ll look into it.
Ceylin stands by the window. Ilgaz wakes up and goes to her. What’s going on? She says, I once read it’s good to sleep with the windows open when it’s cold. He says he will warm her up. She’s thinking of Merdan.
Ilgaz says, all illnesses start in the soul. Your soul gets hurt, you become sad, the sadness makes you sick. And that also applies to keeping secrets. He finds the nuts that Merdan gave her. Yes, he gave them to me. I assume there’s a good story attached to them.

Ilgaz says no matter how I try to ignore it, I can’t get rid of it. The pain will always find you. He says, we met at the park. I didn’t know he was my grandfather. He taught all the kids how to do magic tricks. He taught me, too. We became friends. I went to the park every day to see him. Every day for two years. He got me to love him. I loved him very much and then I found out he was lying.

And we are out.

Dondi, I will be behind in commenting. I cleverly deleted the wrong episodes from my DVR. I had been saving the one from the prior night just in case. Last night I deleted the current one before watching it. I will need to watch it on Telemundo with (gasp) no ability to skip commercials. I don't like to read recaps until I've seen the episode. Since tonight is Zoom Spanish, that will probably be tomorrow, Thursday.

Secrets

Thanks, Dondi.

Nice to see Ilcey on a romantic getaway, even with the sneaking for private phone calls.

Pars' proposal is too cute, he was so nervous. Ah!

I should feel bad that Ilgaz gives Cinar such a hard time, but Cinar is a screwup who will keeping screwing up probably until he's 40.

novelera, I'm backed up, too. My recap for Wednesday won't be up until tomorrow. And probably Thursday and Friday's won't be ready until the weekend.

ITA, Niecie, Cinar is the eternal screwup and Pars was too cute.
