What a long day for Rogelio and everyone else.
ROGELIO, PAULA, LUCAS and MARACA have quite a day. Pati returns Lucas and his new dog (with the musical name Maraca) to Rogelio in the parking garage of his office. Rogelio is in charge of making a presentation to a group of businessmen from Monterrey and doesn't have time to take him home so he calls Paula for help. He cannot get in contact with her. Little does he know that she is helping a friend record a commercial at a recording studio and is incommunicado. When she finally calls him during a break, he finds out that she cannot pick up Lucas because she is working. Rogelio is not pleased. He ends up having to take Lucas and Maraca home himself. The dog even pees on his business files along the way. When José Juan finds out that he has had a family emergency and will be back shortly, he tells him that he hopes that Rogelio doesn't end up spoiling a possible deal with the businessmen. Rogelio returns and we are lead to believe that he was a success.
Rogelio makes it clear to Paula how she needs to let him know if she is going to be out. She agrees and tells him that he needs to value her work which is just as important as his is. You can tell that is a tall order for him but he agrees. She also doesn't like his insinuating that she wasn't taking care of Jazz who was with her all the time because she is her daughter!!!
Martina likes Maraca.
Paula has clearly grown on Lucas as he tells Maraca what a wonderful person she is.
FERNANDO is so upset hearing that Rogelio might not be his brother that he completely forgets his interview with José Juan. He compares photos of Rogelio and Gabriel instead. When he just shows up the next day for an interview, the representative from the human resources office tells him that HE (NOT José Juan) will conduct his interview since he is a day late. And by the way, HE does all of the hiring at the company. Fernando clearly doesn't like him or the job offer and turns it down.
OLIMPiA is visited by GABRIEL who asks her to stop her revenge on Martina . He warns her that it will end up hurting herself in the end. After he leaves, she takes a wooden hand carved butterfly out of a box and thinks back to when she was a young woman and came across Gabriel carving that butterfly. She asked him for it. He said no, he was carving it for . . . She never allowed him to finish as she informed him that she wanted it so she could give it as a gift to Martina at her engagement party. Didn't he hear that she was going to marry her brother? Gabriel was shocked, dropped the butterfly and left. Olimpia picked it up and kept it.
OLIMPIA arranges for all of the "ladies" of the foundation in Morelia to come and visit her and Martina in Mexico City. She shows them her new jewelry selection and serves them champagne. She tells them how badly Martina and the whole family are doing. She is sure Martina could use another maid. She has to do some of the work herself. She arranges for the group to pay Martina a surprise visit. One of the ladies offers Martina money if she needs it while another is willing to pay for a maid to help her with the cleaning. Martina says she doesn't need them to have a collection for her or their help. Thanks to Maraca who pees on one of the "ladies' " Italian leather handbags and Lucas explaining that he and Maraca are brothers because he is a dog himself, the visit is cut short. Micaela asks if she should prepare some refreshments, Martina smiles and answers no. The "ladies" were just leaving.
IMELDA thinks she is going to pull a fast one and get some freebies from Olimpia. She goes to Olimpia's store and makes up a tale about going to a dinner with the ambassador from italy and needing to be dressed from head to foot. The sales women help her out but when it comes time to pay, she doesn't have an account (she says she has) or a credit card but she does have an aunt Olimpia. She browbeats the sales women until they give in. She tells them to just forward the bill to Olimpia.
The sales ladies call Cassandra to let her know what went on. Olimpia goes to the shop to criticize her employees about their actions. Later, she tells Cassandra that she would have fired them but they gave her a "golden opportunity. That is a visit to Martina's. Once there, she delivers the bill to Imelda in person and tells her she is expecting payment in full the next day but if the family does;t have enough money, she could always arrange a loan. Martina is angry with Imelda because she gave Olimpia more ammunition to destroy her family.
EVERYTHING ELSE
IGNACIO has a nightmare where he sees Ceci with who he thinks is his son. The boy yells "papá" and runs into the arms of another man. He goes to see Cecilia at Eva's. Eva refuses to let him in saying that Cecilia is sleeping. When he threatens to break down the door, she starts to call the police. He says he knows how to behave himself. She tells him to leave and he does.
CECILIA doesn't know what to do now that she lied to Ignacio about the pregnancy. Eva reminds her that she will be showing soon. Cecilia is planning on going to Mexico City to spend some time with Paula.
CASSANDRA is back from her business trip to Morelia and tells Olimpia that apart from a run-in with a very disagreeable man, the trip was a good one.
ALE surprisingly kisses Ulises who was not prepared for it. He thinks they should just get to know each other and not rush things.
Please add anything I left out.
Jarifa, I so enjoyed your wise, insightful, and well written summary. “What a long day for Rogelio and everyone else” summed the events up perfectly.
“Martina likes Maraca”. What a shock, albeit a most welcome one! Surely flying pigs can’t be far behind 😊
My favorite scene of the night was Micaela being so solicitous to Martina, gently encouraging her as she put her butterfly pin on as Martina responded so warmly; it is evident they care about each other so much. Martina dismissing the vipers err “ladies” was accomplished with a smile and a wave of the hand. Point, set, match to Martina.
Rogelio and Paula are on divergent paths. Trying to navigate two careers while caring for human and canine hijos requires exacting planning not to mention a clear, shared vision of what each other wants and how to make it work. As of now, Rogelio and Paula are on divergent paths. While there are many demands on Rogelio presently, is it realistic that Paula will be able to work, where and when she wants if she must be available to him whenever needed? I get the feeling Rogelio wants her home with Jazz 24/7 and don’t think he realizes how important Paula’s work and career is to her. They need to figure it all out and compromise will surely be called for.
Imelda being her usual selfish, lying self. Fernando shaken by the revelation about Rogelio, but (surprisingly) says nothing. Yet.
The scene where Ignacio was eating as Felipe and Meliton watched from the sidelines grinning and nodding had me laughing away. I just love them.
I like Ale and think once Uli get over Paula and comes to his senses, all will end up well.
Jose Juan was looking fine in his grey suit but that man bun has got to go.
Diana
Thank you Jarifa!!! As always your notes are wonderful and extremely helpful since I never fail to not pay full attention to what I am watching.... or not watching. I had no idea Fernando had a job interview, lol
I did see Rogelio acting like a jerk because Paula isn't at his beck and call. I lives with 17 people and he even talking to Michela. He could have easily asked for someone else to come get Lucas but instead he kept him with him, nearly messed up his business meeting and blamed Paula. I am very glad I am not married to this hero.
I loved Martina's amusement at Maraca and the 'ladies' discomfort!!! That was the highlight for me! Martina is always likable with Lucas. Always loving, always patient.
Imelda is a lost cause, and it looks like Olimpia's problem with Martina is jealousy because she too liked Gabriel! How original.
I'm not surprised men like Rogelio aren't popular today. I know some of you mentioned his good qualities, which I already have forgotten, but the guy is just ... It's hard for me to have to watch Paula taking on so much of the emotional load when he inevitably goes to her after something happens or when she has to explain to him that he has to understand his own son. Why is it so hard for him to genuinely accept her job is as important as his? I bet he might agree but doesn't actually think so deep down. When he called Micaela, I thought he'd ask her to come andpick Lucas up, but no, let's bother Paula, who is always avialable. As far as I can remember, he didn't actually agree with her she'd pick him up so why expect her to come running? I feel sorry for every woman who was unfortunate enough to marry a man like Rogelio because he is way too selfish in my opinion. He even dares to suggest Paula wasn't taking proper care of her daughter. I wonder how he'd like it if someone said this about his parenting of Lucas because Rogelio actually is the one who should put more effort into understanding his son. Well, and his wife for that matter. I cannot believe Paula loves him. xMaybe part of the attraction for her is the idea of a big family. I think it would bother me a bit less if after marrying her Rogelio had shown some change instead of getting on my nerves constantly. I guess it takes time, butit feels like Paula has to explain things to him with peras y manzanas and then we wait till the next crisis for a repeat of the same because she did already tell him her career matters to her. Oh it must be 'bad time' for him again...I forgot!
So Imelda is again being Imelda. But how can she be so stupid? Why did she think Olimpia would pay for the stuff she bought? And if she loves Fernando as much as she says she does, why do something that might cause problems for him? He isn't in prison, so we are back to square one with her. Fernando isn't much better if he can decline a job offer because it's not 'at his level'. I know he has a family to support, but is it better for him to have no income? This family's arrogance is really something.
It's really a pity if Olimpia's only problem is jealousy. I was looking forward to finding out Martina herself made a huge mistake. I really struggle to have any sympathy for her, given that she herself can be as judgemental as those women who came to see her. And the plot of 'I'm jealous this man loves someone else' is overused. Martina being a victim of Olimpia isn't especially compeling.
If it wasn’t for bad news, we wouldn’t have any news at all:
La Esperanza is under attack again! This time by a health inspector who Rutilio has sicced on the ranch in order to determine if the plague is a possible infestation that could affect the rest of the region. MT and Santos assure her that it’s not, but the inspection as to go on anyway. The lady inspector follows Santos around the land – making Vale jealous in that ‘why is a female speaking to my man’ type of way. To be fair to Vale, this inspector does seem to have the same appreciation for Santos as every other woman in the area. Santos tells her he’s sure the land isn’t infected, and that the ‘plague’ was provoked. They don’t have any idea by who, although he and Cris tried to brainstorm suspects earlier in the episode. At the end, Ms. Inspector admits she found nothing, but Esperanza still has to stop production until the lab results come back and they can be sure. MT begs her not to shut them down since they have a huge contract they have to fulfil, but there’s nothing the inspector can do. MT can appeal to Rutilio but it’s doubtful that will help since Rut is the one who filed the complaint in the first place!
Look what we have in common:
Rutilio and Clemente get into a ridiculously intense argument! – Seriously Rut looked like he was going to have a stroke, he was so angry; and all because he was criticized for not asking Clemente how his day was. The gist of the argument is Rut is a horrible father who treats Clemente like crap, doesn’t love him, and enjoys humiliating him. Rut thinks Clemente has it easy, he never had to live with HIS father! Clemente wouldn’t have lasted a week with that miserable bastard! Clemente says that just means they finally have something in common since his father is a miserable bastard too!!! LOL
Remedios also tells a worried Norma that she and Bernarda have a lot in common when Norma comes to her wondering what kind of person Bernarda is since her darling son is in love with one of her daughters. What do they have in common? Well, they are both overprotective and overbearing mothers of course! LOL But she also assures Norma that Bernarda is a good woman who has just had to survive awful things. There’s hope though, Remedios recommends Norma just tell Clemente to be patient because despite all outward appearances Bernarda is a woman with a very big heart.
MT and Santos tease us with an almost kiss.
MT is having a ‘why does everyone hate me, I’m a nice girl, I swear I am’ moment and Santos tries to convince her that they will get past this hurdle too and everything will be fine. Santos moves in for a reassuring kiss and MT doesn’t back away…. but Cris arrives to spoil the moment instead!!! Of course!
Rut ruins everyone’s day:
Not content to just make Norma and Clemente miserable, Rut drops by Esperanza to spread the poison! As mentioned above, he brought the health inspector, but he also brought the insults, as he introduces MT as a city slicker with no idea what she is doing! She’s going to infect them all with plague! When Santos takes the inspector out in the fields, Rut stays behind to demand to see all MT’s paperwork, notably including her deed to the land, and some other financial stuff. MT deflects saying rightfully that those having nothing to do with the issue at hand; but of course, she also can’t show that stuff because she gave it to Marcos!!! Guess MT will be needing Marcos’ help again, good thing he’s still hanging around waiting to pounce! Speaking of, earlier in the episode, he brought roses and was throwing back tequila shots with a loopy looking MT but DIDN’T take advantage of the situation to try and make a move. (I wonder what is up with the restraint)
Anyway, back to Rutilio who also ruined Bernarda’s day! He ran into her with both daughters and was making creepy comments about how beautiful they are to which mama bear responded with the predictable ‘Stay away from my daughters or I’ll kill you!’ Regina looked terrified though I doubt she knew what she needed to be afraid of and Vale looked ready to protect mama in the same way Bernarda insists on protecting her. Cris heard the commotion, came over and demanded that Rut leave. In a hilarious moment, the look on Cris’s face said ‘Who am I to order this man out?’ and Rut gave Cris a ‘Is this little boy really ordering me out?’ look, but he left anyway and the ladies huddled together.
Later Rut adds to his accomplishments by telling Grim that he is to deal with the problems of their fast growing business – still not 100% sure but I assume they are in the prostitution business – and not coming running to Rut for help. Rut provided the blueprint, Grim is reasonable for the day to day operations.
Vale and Mama:
These two start off the episode fighting as usual, Mama wants to control every move Vale makes and Vale wants her freedom! Mommy is ordering Vale and Regina to stay right by her side all day long, she doesn’t want them out of her sight. Vale says for the thousandth time that she’s no longer a little girl, but then she does exactly what mommy says so it’s probably still debatable. Later, after Rut’s unwelcome visit, these two prove they love each other as fiercely as they fight. Vale comforts Bernarda as she’s shaken by Rut’s visit and she finally admits to Vale that he is the man who raped her! Vale wants to run to Santos for protection, but Bernarda says absolutely not! She doesn’t want Vale to tell anyone! This is her secret and no one can find out! The consequences could be dire…. Vale wants to know what consequences but Bernarda deflects and Vale agrees to keep her secret.
"...Rogelio actually is the one who should put more effort into understanding his son. Well, and his wife for that matter". You are right waterlily.
I think Rogelio tries to be supportive of Paula's career but seems to regard it as an extracurricular activity rather than a job. He's made it crystal clear Paula should be his beck and call girl (think Pretty Woman). As you noted Darcy, he could have called Michela, but I don't think that occurred to him because he feels this is Paula's job.
Paula is and was a bit of a free spirit. She loves her daughter and Lucas but she needs time to fly on her own and Rogelio needs to see and accept that. They are equal partners.
Diana
“…Rogelio actually is the one who should put more effort into understanding his son. Well, and his wife for that matter”. Well said waterlily!
Rogelio tries to be supportive of Paula’s career but seems to regard it as an extracurricular activity rather than a “real” job. He’s made it crystal clear Paula should be his beck and call girl (think Pretty Woman). As you noted Darcy, he could have called Michela, but I don’t think that occurred to him because he feels this is Paula’s “job”.
Paula has always been a bit of a free spirit. She’s been honest and upfront how important her musical career is to her. She loves her daughter and Lucas but needs time to fly on her own and Rogelio needs to see and accept that. They are equal partners.
Diana
Darcy, it was wonderful reading one of your sensational recaps again! Your insightful perspective is marvelous.
Santos and Maria Teresa couldn’t have had one little kiss?? C’mon writers, throw us a bone for heaven’s sake.
Loved “Not content to just make Norma and Clemente miserable, Rut drops by Esperanza to spread the poison!”
“The lady inspector follows Santos around the land – making Vale jealous in that ‘why is a female speaking to my man’ type of way. To be fair to Vale, this inspector does seem to have the same appreciation for Santos as every other woman in the area” had me smiling away. I agree, the appealing galan in residence is every woman’s dream.
It should have occurred to me Grim and Rut were involved in prostitution but it didn’t. Thank you for pointing that out.
I think Marco is genuinely attracted to Maria Teresa and is too cagey to rush things. I think in his deluded mind he sees her as his future wife.
Diana
Jarifa, your recap was wonderful and a great escape after a busy day yesterday, sitting 4hours last night watching football at the local high school stadium ( we won both games by a big lead..rah rah rah ) , and dealing with workmen in the house today .
Maybe Ulisses would have been a better match for Paula than Rogelio since she and You were both more the free spirit , go with the flow, ride with the tide type. . Opposites attract , which was my case, but they don't always work out in the long run. Two jobs, kids, and extended family isn't easy to juggle. Throw in a dog and things just get more stressful . This family has been thrown for a loop, and everyone is reacting in his\her own unique way.
Imelda is still Imelda and probably always will be to some extent .
I liked seeing Marco and Blanca , young and in love in their little nest.
Igy alone at that big dining table in that big house watched over by caring servants is a study in the tragedy of anger and revenge . I think he is doomed .
So I guess Cassandra doesn't know Igy , and they just happened to meet ! Caray! What a coincidence .
This got left out of my cut and paste:
No surprise Rut is Bernarda’s rapist. While everything seems to be pointing to the possibility Regina might be his, could it possibly be Valentina? I loved Val and Regina enveloping their mother in a protective hug. It’s a wonder Clemente is such a kind and sensitive young man considering his mental abuse at Clemente’s hands. I cheered him speaking up to his monster of a father! Norma should have left him long ago but she is too cowardly and weak willed.
Diana
I HATE REAL LIFE. Here are the Wikipedia highlights.
Gigi arrives at Adalberto's office to see him, but finds him in the middle of a kiss with his mistress. Sara tries to smooth things over with Emilia and suggests that she stay away from Leonardo to prevent him from breaking her heart. María José despises Gael in order to disappoint him to avoid more problems. Leonardo swears to Emilia that what he wants most is to love her as no one else has ever done.
Diana, "My favorite scene of the night was Micaela being so solicitous to Martina, gently encouraging her as she put her butterfly pin on as Martina responded so warmly; it is evident they care about each other so much." I loved that scene, too, as Micaela made a point of it being Blanca's insignia. They seem to be from almost another era.
Darcy, "I did see Rogelio acting like a jerk because Paula isn't at his beck and call." You got it. Rogelio reminds me so much of a man from, let's say, the 1950's who wanted the little lady to take care of the house and kids so he could be the breadwinner. I can almost picture him in an overcoat, ox blood colored wingtips and a fedora. He seems so out of step with the times, but is he really or is he just worse at hiding what he really wants than the other men are? That is always my question. What a bummer for for Paula still having to prove herself "worthy"!
waterlily, "So Imelda is again being Imelda. But how can she be so stupid?" My question exactly. What was she thinking??? Is there something loose in that noggin of hers? It sure sounds like it. If she really loves Fernando, why would she put him in that position? I guess she still loves the $$$ more.
Susan, "So I guess Cassandra doesn't know Igy , and they just happened to meet ! Caray! What a coincidence ." : ) And now since they met once and Cassandra commented on it, might they meet again??? I sure hope so. Maybe a Cassandra could stop Ignacio from obsessing about Cecilia.
Weirdo, thank you for the highlights!
The scene where Maria Jose, (her mother’s words reverberating in her head) broke up with Gael was hard to watch. He was heartbroken.
Adalberto’s gf was all over him like a cheap suit as he peeled off bill after bill much to her greedy delight. They recovered rather quickly when Gigi burst in, much to his secretary’s consternation. I think Gigi swallowed Ad’s story although she did get a good look at his sidepiece. I almost (but not quite) felt for Gigi.
I don’t know how Emilia can resist Leo. I know I couldn’t. 😊
There are only a few things I can add…
Jenny went to Orlando’s to deliver her wedding invitation. She seemed to be effusive about how much his friendship means to her. You could see him visibly cringe as he is clearly in love with her.
Roberta ended up hugging Leo at one point, but as the camera panned to his back, she was rolling her eyes and making disgusted faces. Her own son. What a monster.
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa, once again you filled in my blanks. I sure wish I wanted to learn Spanish this badly when I was in school!
I was surprised and pleased that Fernando didn’t tell Rogelio what he overheard. It was nice to hear him compliment his brother! But how stupid to turn down a job. Didn’t he ever hear of working your way up?
Imelda quickly reverted to her old self. How disappointing. She should be able to return the items. I doubt she’s had time to wear them. And she was in on enough conversations to know Olimpia isn’t their friend.
I loved Martina holding her own and “winning” the battle against the”ladies”. They’re supposed to be friends too! I also loved Martina with the dog and with Micaela. She can be a caring woman.
Rogelio made me mad. He expects Paula to be at his “beck and call”. I think that’s the expression. Lucas is his son, he could have asked Pati to take him to the apartment. Did he know she was bringing him back then. She should have waited until his work day was done. I agree he is selfish and full of his own importance. Wouldn’t it be nice if this commercial recording leads to more for Paula.
When I realized Olimpia was jealous of Martina I thought she may have invented the whole pregnant with another man’s child thing. I hope so.
Liz
Weirdo, thank you for the recap . Yes, real life does intrude on patio time . I still haven't been able to watch thjs episode.
Yesterday, I tried to explain caray caray to someone . It is fascinating to me how this community of telenovela lovers works. The person seemed fascinated that I watch telenovelas and how people translate them into English and that Turkish Telenovelas are translated into Spanish !
I think Orlando and Jenny will be together in the end because of Orlando's puppy dog eyes . Perhaps she will eventually separate herself from her parents and become a better person.
Sara is pompous and annoying She isn't going anywhere and seems to think that she can pull Leo back to their wealthy urban lifestyle . However , Leo is smitten with Emilia.
Seb also seems to still be hoping for a future with Emilia. Here we go.
Diana, yes, how can Emilia resist Leo. We all know that the writers will pull these two apart , but unlike Invincible , they will hopefully be together by the finale.
Adalberto has to pay for it one way or another . What a creepy weasel. Wake up , Gigi . He is not worthy .
I just discovered that the actress playing Olympia was in " La Mujer de Judas ," which was a wild and wooly ride from Azteca . She was the mother of the young female villain.
So, Olympia and Martina were both in love with young Gabriel back in the day . He must have been something . I find the whole butterfly theme of this show interesting . Are we seeing some metamorphoses?
I guess the writers are trying to show us that Olympia is worse than Martina, who seems to be softening and letting go of her controlling ways . At some point , you have to just stop trying to manage the universe .
Thanks, Darcy, I enjoyed the recap. Santos suspects someone is doing all these things to the ranch and then MT learns that Rutilio sent for the inspection. I figure they will all decide that he is behind all the attacks. MT will probably confide to Marco. I wonder if he’ll defend Rut or throw him under the bus! Marco seems to be courting MT. But for what reason, love of her or her ranch? He has the deed and she owes him money so it looks like he can get the ranch now. He dismissed Santos as no competition a few episodes ago. I can’t wait to his his face when she ends up with Santos. And I’m so ready for MT to realize what Marco has done.
I don’t like Valentina, and really like Chris, but I’d like to see her mature a bit and end up with Chris. Poor guy has been trying to get a girlfriend for a long time.
Liz
Finally watching this episode . I get a kick out of the way Sara crosses her arms as she talks to Emilia. Her body language and facial expressions are so condescending ...big city girl talking her inferior. Ha.
Gracias, Jarifa, and sorry I'm late too the party.
Olympia is certainly determined to make Martina suffer and takes any opportunity to do that very thing. She certainly is still the textbook example of a Mean Girl. How grossly immature.
I don't think Imelda will ever change. Were we ever told about her level of education? Everything is all about her. She married the bank account, not the man whose name is on it. We have to hope that she will suggest contesting presumptive paternity and hope that Hipolito does turn out to be Rogelio's father.
Rogelio is late to the game of juggling the elements of his life, but he will learn.
Martina liking the dog was a huge surprise and a good one.
I totally agree that the man-bun must go.
Liz, "When I realized Olimpia was jealous of Martina I thought she may have invented the whole pregnant with another man’s child thing. I hope so. " Me, too. That would be a nice plot twist and would end up being a surprise; sort of like Martina liking Maraca was a surprise.
Urban, Olimpia as a "Mean Girl". I never thought of that but I guess they never do change even after 50+ years. Yikes!
Thanks, Daisy.
We haven't had an incest threat for a while, so here it comes. It would be horrible if Regina and Clemente turn out to be half-siblings. They don't deserve that.
One thing to add: Clemente told Regina he had been looking up medical information and there is a possible operation so she can hear. She cut him off as they still need to keep their relationship on the down-low for now.
Good point about Marco. I think he is looking for Maria Teresa to hit rock bottom before he makes that kind of a move. He wants to reduce her to a sex doll before he pounces. Camila needs to warn her.
What an uneventful episode. Stupidity and more stupidity and more...Why didn't Joaquina suggest something sensible to Mari when she admitted Roberta made her tell Leo she didn't want him to be responsible for managing her money. All she said was that M should break up with Gael. Gael isn't very smart either if he believes that all of a sudden M cares mostly about money. But he is still young enough not to know how manipulative people can be. According to Joaquina, Roberta has done some things in the past to help her. Seriously? What did she do? Lent her 10 pesos?
Sara is pathetic. One minute she is like 'you can pursue Leo' and then'he's actually an ass so better stay away'. It was funny at least. She is bad at being mean now. But she has so many episodes to improve that I'm sure she'll improve.
Didn't Jeny tell Orlando later that she was grateful to him for telling her the truth about how miserable she'd be? It was hard to listen to her say all those things women even now say. Funny how it's usually women who want messed-up men and not the other way around.
Someone needs to open Leo's eyes to the fact his mother is manipulating him and the guilt he feels over his father's death.
La patrona now knows there's gold in that other mine. She is also doing something with la auditoria they are doing. I'm guessing it's to make Seb look guilty, but I have forgotten there was an investigation going on. Who ordered it?
Orlando was all sexy and in charge the first few episodes if they turn him into that guy who does nothing but mope and pine after the girl who is with the other guy, I am going to be mad!!!
I like the way Oswaldo is portraying Leo...a strong and calm.but who doesn't take himself too seriously .I like his warm laugh and warm hugs. That meeting place in the woods is where he shines the most. He is so appealing next to Emilia's somber resistance .
It was funny hearing Orlando say " Mayday"as he and Leo talked . They were evidently talking about their crushes like high school dudes. Cute. In every scene, the actor Playing Orlando is auditioning for galan role.
The scene of the two teenagers in love in the play house was sad .
Geez, Tigre talks to himself and spills the beans about the gold mine.
Terrific recap, Jarifa. You clarified everything for me. Fernando skipped a job interview? Just when I thought he was becoming a better man by not running and telling Rogelio what he overheard. Fernando is such a doofus.
ITA with all who say Rogelio has never had to juggle before. Growing up with servants at his fingertips has stunted him -- and Fernando too. I remember reading that Michelle Obama had her daughters doing everyday chores in the White House (like making up their own beds) to center them. (I wonder how that has turned out.) No doubt about it Paula needs to train Rogelio on juggling. I guessing she doesn't make much money at these gigs, so she needs to point out that that doesn't matter when it comes to divvying up chores. She's doing worthwhile work just as he is.
So glad Olimpia outed Imelda right away. Imelda has been carrying a torch for Gabriel all these years? Ridiculo.
Diana, I'm with you on that man bun. 😊 In general I don't like them. But if it must be, at least make it a large poufy one, not that little knot.
The kids were taunting Nico again and this time Mau showed up and chased the kids away . Mau has evidently finally completed the math and realizes that Nick is his son ,so.....he gave him a bike. Uh oh This is quite an interesting storyline .
Niecie, ITA that Fernando is a doofus. I couldn't believe how arrogant he was at the interview the next day. It was he like they owed him something. These "baby boys" need to grow up.
Notes and more notes from the couch
*ROGELIO and PAULA are having a hard time staying connected. He says he has been doing all he can to support and protect the family but hasn't had much success. Paula gives him credit for doing everything he does for them. She also says they need to spend some time together or things will end badly between them. He doesn't want that either. Paula wants to have a date night with him. He has to beg off saying that he will be working late the next day. She suggests that she and Jazz meet him in the park near his office for lunch. He says he can do that.
The next morning, Rogelio tells his mother how he is going to make sure that Olimpia doesn't continue humiliating her. Thankfully, Martina tells him to stay out of her problems.
Paula runs into Olimpia who is interested in her line work. She tells Paual to never give up her dreams and gives her the name and number of a friend who is the owner of an elementary school who is looking for a music teacher.
It is lunch time and Paula is there waiting with Jazz and Maraca in the park. Rogelio finally sends her a text that he has a meeting and cannot meet her after all. He also asks her to please pick up Lucas from school because he will not be able to make it. He loves her.
Paula finally is able to meet the elementary school owner for her interview. She is honest about having a newborn and her hours being limited.
That evening, Paula is outside the apartment building and calls the school to turn down the job offer. Rogelio sees her outside and says he has been looking for her. She answers that he should have been looking for her in the park where he stood her up. He apologizes and explains that there was a meeting and he couldn't get out of it. She just wishes that she would have known sooner. She really wants to talk to him and come to an agreement about when and how she is going to restart her career. He tells her that this is not the time. Jazz needs her mother. She tells him that Jazz also needs her father. Just because she is going to work doesn't mean that she will stop taking care of Jazz. He gets an urgent call from work. The conversation has ended for now.
Paula is with the baby and Rogelio is in their room when he decides to read her text messages. He sees that the owner of the school is willing to adapt her schedule if necessary in order for Paula to take the job. Paula asks what he is doing. He never answers but is upset that she never told him about the job interview. Paula is on her last nerve. She cannot believe its . She sent left him a message about the interview, Eva coming and everything else. If he would have listened to it, he would have found out that she would never leave Jazz at this age but that she still needs to come to a decision about when she will be restarting her career. She also needs to be happy. He agrees that she needs return to her career and repeats about it not being the time and he doesn't like that she went behind his back. She insists that she never did anything behind his back. She wanted to talk to him all day. Rogelio decides he doesn't want to talk anymore and goes to sleep on the couch. He finds Fernando in the living room complaining that Imelda is staying with her mother at a hotel. He invites Rogelio to come sleep in his room. Paula comes out of her room to try to make peace but Rogelio is gone. She remembers her mother (?) telling her to never give up. At times, life doesn't give us what we want. She can overcome all the obstacles in the way. She cries.
*A depressed IGNACIO goes to Mexico City. He warns Gabriel to keep the Iturbide brothers aways from him. Fernando almost killed him and next time, he will pay him back in kind. He asks if Gabriel is in love and concludes that, of course, he is. He creepily calls him a "naughty boy" and tells him to give his regards to La Monarca,.
Ignacio surprises Olimpia at her office. She tells him that is the last time he will do that. He needed to see her in person. He isn't doing well and needed to talk to her. She is always saying he is her favorite nephew. He explains that he feels very alone. All he can think about is his wife who was pregnant but decided not to have the baby. Olimpia reminds him that these days, women have bodily autonomy. She tells him this is no time for him to be vulnerable. There's still plenty of important things to think about like his beloved family. He asks why she is helping them. Is it to get back everything tehyowe her? Olimpia says it is part of her plan and adds that he doesn't know how much she enjoys humiliating Martina. She is planning to keep playing with her (like a cat with a mouse?) as long as she feels like keeping her in Mexico City. She will tell Ignacio what to do but not here. She will contact him where and how they will meet. he leaves without a word more.
Cassandra notices Ignacio on the way out. She asks Olimpia who the man who just left her office was. Olimpia says he is an acquaintance from way back when and he won't be coming back.
As luck would have it, Cassandra and Rogelio run into each other outside of a restaurant. She wants to go for a walk and soon they are walking arm in arm and talking and sharing all the sad details of their lives. Ignacio talks about his mother committing suicide, his wife and the abortion. Cassandra says that her dad isn't dead but he might as well be and her mother was killed when she was little. She wonders which of them would win if there were in a tragedy contest. They both laugh.
*FERNANDO is unable to keep what he heard to himself and tells Imelda what Olimpia told Martina. Imelda goes running to her mother who tells her that if it turns out that Rogelio is Gabriel's son, all of her wishes will come true. Fernando will be in charge of everything and she (Imelda) will end up as the beloved Monarca. Now, Imelda needs to collect DNA samples. Imelda sneaks into Rogelio's room and takes hair from Rogelio's brush. She also includes a cup that Gabriel has drunk from while visiting at Martina's.
Fernando is desperate to find a job. He asks Fidel to keep his eye open for something in Morelia.
*EVERYTHING ELSE
NEW CHARACTER: VIOLETA is José Juan's (to be known as JJ from now one) niece who works at the company . She first helps Rogelio out with the copy machine. She is then going to assist him in making the necessary adjustments to his project.
CECILIA and EVA go to visit Paula in Mexico City. At first, Fidel is sad when he sees Eva and the baby are but quickly he is overjoyed like a little kid with no parents watching.
OLIMPIA tells MARTINA that no dogs are allowed in the building after seeing MARACA. She tells Martina that she needs to pick up every piece of dog hair that it leaves behind. Paula volunteers to be in charge of that. When Martina mentions she is going out with Gabriel, Olimpia says she wishes she had the time go out with her novio.
That is it for me. Please add anything I left out.
They slightly changed the OG Nico-Mau storyline. In the OG, Fer (Mau) was even worse at math; La Patrona was the one who realised David (Nico) was his son and was like "Wake up, stoopid!" Lol not really, but she managed to get a DNA test to prove it.
Jarifa, you never fail to absorb all of the drama and encapsulate it perfectly. “ROGELIO and PAULA are having a hard time staying connected” is exactly right.
“At first, Fidel is sad when he sees Eva and the baby are but quickly he is overjoyed like a little kid with no parents watching” was the highlight of the evening for me! Another star turn from Alfredo Gatica.
Rogelio supports Paula wanting to work, but on his terms. He is guilty, as many men are, of expecting her to put her aspirations on the back burner because THEIR daughter “needs her mother”. The fact is she will always need her mother and as Paula noted, also her father. Paula tries to talk with Rogelio but his hackles are up and doesn’t seem to want to compromise. At least at this point in time. So “he doesn’t like that she went behind his back” but thinks nothing of looking at Paula’s phone when HER back is turned??. ☹
I don’t think I’ve ever seen as many babies have so much screen time as they did tonight. In view of that, it was surprising and very obvious Paula had a doll around her neck in the majority of scenes. Given all the tiny actors, was there no stand ins available?? 😊 The “real” actor must have been feeling poorly or been experiencing a crying jag.
Kids and dogs; I don’t want to leave out Maraca who was really tucking into that bone in his brief scene with Lucas.
Marco and Blanca are always a calming oasis in a sea of non-tranquility.
Violeta was only on the screen for a few minutes but it was sufficient to signify she is bad, bad news.
I like Cassandra. Seeing her and Ignacio tonight, I’ve changed my mind about his future. Now, I think he will have one.
Diana
Episode 36: Part 1 of 2
Maria Teresa told Marco that Rut wanted to shut down the ranch.
Santos, Cris, Regina, and Valentina talked about the situation. Santos was confident in Maria Teresa.
Marco told Maria Teresa that her ranch will not be shut down. Maria Teresa wanted to see Rut alone, but Marco insisted they should go together and immediately. [We can be sure that Marco had set the stage and Rut was expecting them.]
Camila went to Remedios' place to buy some stuff and they talked about her plan. Remedios warned her that Marco was dangerous. Genoveva came in and talked about the ranch's latest problems. Camila mentioned Aldo's arrest, which Genoveva had not yet found out about and Remedios said that Maria Teresa is in danger from Marco.
Rut was negative regarding Maria Teresa's obvious mission. Rut was even insulting and would not talk to her. Marco suggested that they talk over dinner.
Clemente went to see Regina who told him about the inspection. She was concerned. Clemente talked about possible surgery that could help her hear. She told him that her mother would never let her go to Mexico City for that.
Camila was determined to do something to Marco because she was sure that he was out to steal Maria Teresa's ranch.
Clemente got Regina to be a little more optimistic and then left rather than risk being caught by Bernarda.
Santos explained to Valentina that Maria Teresa loved the land, etc. Valentina asked if anything happened between them in the city.
Rut, Marco, and Maria Teresa were in a local restaurant; no food yet on the table. She explained there was no plague left; it was only on the fruit but not in the soil. Marco said all would be well.
Santos said nothing about what really happened as he described Maria Teresa's city apartment with all its technology and that she sold it to invest in the ranch. Bernarda walked in as they were kissing and wanted him to leave. She sent Valentina to bed and Santos asked her about Rut. She told him about the attack and that she didn't want Rut anywhere near her daughters. Santos promised to protect them.
Grim paid a visit to Adriana and tried blackmailing her into getting involved with his brothel. She demanded that he leave.
After more conversation Rut told Maria Teresa that if there was anything negative in the report he would shut the ranch down indefinitely. He got up and left. She thanked Marco for getting this far but looked like she had a bad vibe when he touched her hair.
Valentina and Regina talked about Bernarda and Rut. Valentina still didn't know enough.
Adriana told Irasema about Grim.
Clemente asked Rut about La Esperanza which made Rut ask why he was interested. He didn't seem to actually care about this and finally dismissed this.
Marco – in his usual manner – told Maria Teresa that Santos had better have things in order. She asked how to repay him and he demurred, saying that someday he would need her help. [Doesn't he mean he will help himself to her?]
Maria Teresa told Santos they could get back to work but he did not look happy when she credited Marco.
Bernarda questioned Cris about Valentina and Santos' whereabouts. He got nervous.
Santos told Maria Teresa he was concerned about her trust in Marco.
Episode 36: Part 2 of 2
Valentina barged into Rut's office to talk to him about her mother. [She should have changed into something else in case Rut had a fetish for black leather.]
At her book club meeting Adriana told Norma she did not sleep the night before. She blamed the hot weather. She told the entire group she was going to dedicate time to empowering the local women.
Valentina confronted Rut about his attack on Bernarda. She got to the point just as Clemente entered. Upon realizing that Rut was his father she lost it and ran out. Clemente did not understand this.
Adriana made a short speech about women becoming independent of men. Most of the women at the table seemed to agree this would be a good thing,
Clemente caught up with Valentina and she told him to stay away from Regina.
Santos told everyone they should get back to work. Maria Teresa added that they needed to make up for lost time.
Valentina ran and Remedios found her. Valentina said that Rut had destroyed her mother's life.
Rut implied to Trejo that he is about to show Marco who's the boss.
Valentina was upset at the possibility that Rut was her sperm donor. Remedios wanted to brew something for her to calm down, but she said she had to get back to the ranch.
Santos saw Clemente on the ranch and the young fellow said he did not understand Valentina's about- face. Santos said he would find out.
Bernarda was looking for Valentina who then appeared. When asked where she had been Valentina lied, saying she had been working on the ranch.
Clemente asked Rut what had happened with Valentina. He did not answer him, but mouthed a few misogynistic platitudes, finishing by telling his son he was better off not bothering with them. [That seems like an about-face of his own, considering his apparent relief in one of the earlier scenes that Clemente was interested in girls.]
Adriana and Irasema talked about Adri's situation.
Valentina told Regina that Clemente was the son of their mother's rapist.
Genoveva served lemonade to the workers. She told Cris and Santos that Maria Teresa's wedding did not happen because Aldo had been arrested for fraud.
Urban, your rendition of this action-packed episode was superb.
I did think that Marco’s descending on Rutilio, Maria Teresa in tow, was unplanned. Initially, he smiled when he saw Marco but when Maria Teresa came into view, it quickly evaporated. I sensed Rut didn’t want to play along but did. “Rut implied to Trejo that he is about to show Marco who's the boss” seemed to indicate his forced acquiescence.
“…Maria Teresa that Santos had better have things in order. She asked how to repay him and he demurred, saying that someday he would need her help. [Doesn't he mean he will help himself to her?]” was excellent!
No flies on Valentina. A fearless avenging angel not stopping to consider her impulsive, confrontational approach and possible consequences. Did she really think Rut would tell all and repent? And yes, I cringed at her black leather outfit and was relieved when Clemente disturbed their discussion.
Val is already ordering Clemente to stay away from Regina. She will likely threaten to tell Bernarda if Regina doesn’t comply. I also wondered how many hours of work Bernarda has lost searching for Valentina…
Adriana is being backed into a corner by Grim. She is going to have to make a move…
Urban, I also thought Maria Teresa pulled back a bit when Marco touched her hair. I hope he tries again so she might be suspicious.
Santos now knows why Maria Teresa didn’t marry Aldo. It will be interesting to see how he processes this information.
Diana
Diana, Santos is no fool. He will not have forgotten how Aldo kept insulting him to his face and snubbing him behind his back in his vainglorious attempt at gaslighting Maria Teresa into not trusting him.
I think the encounter between Rut, Marco, and Maria Teresa was probably earlier than Rut expected it. He is so desperate to believe that all women are as stupid as he thinks Norma is. It may have even been a little earlier than Marco originally planned it, but for all his misogyny Marco is more intelligent than Rut. This could be heading toward a major blow-up between them, which is inevitable.
As several have said, Adriana is likely to make a major move against Grim. We don't know what made her turn to prostitution in her past and we don't yet know the details of Grimaldi's and Marco's current scheme but it can't be long before something happens on that front.
With only 24 episodes left w will soon hear "Ultimas Semanas."
I don't know about Rogelio might learn to jugle work and kids, but there's no way this will happen if his attitude towards his wife stays the same. It doesn't even feel like a result of having servants, because Paula isn't one, but more a result of his beliefs. After all, he has had to help raise his brothers and work so this can't be such news to him. It never fails to surprise me women are willing to train men as if they were dogs. It feels that this is what Paula is doing. And if it's really true other men are just better at hiding they want exactly what Rogelio wants, how many of them are actually supportive of their wives' aspirations? I have a relative who outright said feminism is a bad thing. But the guy managed to find a wife who takes care of their four kids and even helps him with his work. And still men complain women have it easy when it comes to finding a partner. Maybe they have it easy because they are willing to 'train' the men they choose and men get a full package which requires no work. Rogelio is such a hypocrite. I don't know how Paula can stand him.And now Violeta is here to cause some jealousy on Paula's part. I wonder if Paula's jealousy fits will be able to rival those of Rogelio. The one thing I'll remember from this telenovela is 'don't marry a mama's boy if you prefer not to have to train him'
Rogelio also told Martina he'll make sure Olimpia doesn't bother her but can't find time for his wife. That's nice of him. Mama's boy will always pick his mama I guess.
Casandra and Ignacio are the most interesting thing to me here. Everyone else is just annoying. Fernando and Imelda now appear to start to be tal para cual. Though Fernando's love for her was always more genuine. When watching these two, I now think Fernando sort of settled for her because Imelda is way too selfish to love anyone. I wonder how much she loves her daughter because she was willing to use her for her own ends. One thing is flawed characters, another is characters so flawed that you wonder if they have any good qualities at all. Selfishness and arrogance are very prevalent in this family. But Rogelios and Martina's selfishness intrigue me because I wonder how they became like this.
Poor Ignacio went to a person who is least likely to help him. Did Olimpia ever care about anyone that wasn't herself?
Good stuff, Jarifa.
Fernando is an idiot. He should be washing floors at midnight wherever he ends up working. If this plays out per Beatriz' hypothetical scenario Fernando could finish the family off with one bad business decision.
Or -- if Mexicans make life difficult for people who are ever arrested for anything -- he doesn't have a future in business at all.
It's possible that Beatriz is wrong about this. I just found out that in Mexico heirs have ten years to claim an inheritance. Therefore in the real world, Irma would have screwed Ignacio out of inheriting anything at all.
However, we can expect some serious drama here. My prediction is that Olympia plans to lower the boom just as Rogelio gets his first paycheck or bonus. Her motive for this is revenge over Gabriel having been in love with Martina back in the day and even now and the pain this will cause Martina. I don't think that either Luis or Marco would reject Rogelio over this revelation. Fernando might harbor residual resentment despite Rogelio having fought for him after his arrest and preventing another by stopping him from killing Ignacio.
If heirs have ten years to claim an inheritance it would be logical for there to be ten years to permit a challenge to the will.
While Olympia told Ignacio he is her favorite nephew I think she is playing him just as she does anyone else. I don't think, however, that she knows the full extent of his crazy and I don't think she saw Irma's crazy because Ignacio didn't tell her anything about it and that was because of his own unwillingness to face it. I doubt that Olympia cares about anyone other than herself.
Thank you Jarifa! You set the tone once again with your notes from the couch!
I think I'm tired of saying Rogelio is a jerk every day so I'll just say, he talks to his wife as if she's his employee and not his spouse. He doesn't discuss, he dictates and it's annoying!!! Best PSA I can think of for don't marry someone five minutes after you meet them!
We still aren't sure Rogelio is Gabriel's, right now it's just a rumor, but let's say he is. Is there even a challenge to the will? I wouldn't think so. If he grew up in the family, all parties (except Martina I guess) thought he was 'dads', and 'dad' left him whatever he left him in the will would it really invalidate it that technically he wasn't? I mean he was still born and raised by the man and if he truly loved his son finding out now that he wasn't bio-dad wouldn't have changed the way he felt about him... I wouldn't think Rogelio would or should be disinherited at this point or that anyone except Imelda would look at him as less than what he was before - which was an insufferable jerk!! LOL
I started laughing the second Fernando said he was going to trust Imelda with his secret!!! hehe Has he met her?
Thank you Urban, your recap is excellent! This episode was frustrating!
I admire Vale in a way, but her actions were over the line. Especially telling Clemente to stay away from Regina, that is Regina's decision to make. And then she mentioned the rape to both Rut and Regina and maybe even Remedios after telling mama just yesterday that she wouldn't say anything to anyone. Lose lips sink ships, Vale! And the way she blurted it out to Regina was jarring and with no preamble or context - poor Regina.
I also think Rut was surprised by Marco and MT arriving, when he was talking to Trejo he seemed annoyed that Marco decided to support MT - so either that means he was blindsided by the visit or he did know ahead of time but he doesn't like it/isn't on the same page.
Cris is my favorite here, he's so much fun to watch! He's a nervous little thing without being pitiful. He's insecure without being pathetic. He's funny and he seems to be a good friend.
UA: Good Job on the recap of last night's episode. Keep it up!
Darcy: Expect more of the unexpected from here on out!
Steve Boudreaux
Darcy, I think this was what struck me about Rogelio too. At one point I was like why doesn't Paula tell him 'do I work for you or what?' I wonder if Marco, Fernando or Luis would expect their partners to be like some kind of emergency call centre, where you know they are always available. If not, they'll drop anything and everything they are doing because'the man of the house' needs them. Is this just a Rogelio issue? Martina did a huge disservice to his wife and the worst is that she would see nothing wrong with it. But then again, Rogelio knows what the problem is and just refuses to talk so he doesn't even want to change because it's convenient for him to keep things as they are.
I don't think that Rogelio is a jerk, because -- like Santos in the other series -- he has had limited experience with commitment. He never lived with Erica and the only complication he had there was Martina's threat that scared her off -- which he didn't know about at the time. He should have disowned Martina over that when he found out. There was nobody serious between Erica and Paula.
He was also used to making his own hours when he had the family business to run. He isn't used to other bosses' rules. That is also a source of frustration for him.
DNA testing has only been a thing for about 30 years as of now. I am guessing that Rogelio is just under 40 and until now there had been no hint to anyone involved that his paternity was in question. Not having seen the Turkish original I can't determine whether the Olympia story was planned in advance or not; here it feels like it's out of left field to extend a high-rated story. I agree that nothing should happen to the inheritance after all this time. Rogelio died believing that Rogelio was his son and had treated him as such until the day he died. That should be the last word on this. Gabriel should know how this can go.
Well, it was another interesting episode last night, quite enjoyable.
Diana, you and I were on the same wave length last night. Fidel dancing around the apartment was the best part of last night. "Violeta was only on the screen for a few minutes but it was sufficient to signify she is bad, bad news." I am afraid so, especially now when Rogelio is expecting Paula to be June Cleaver.
waterlily, "Did Olimpia ever care about anyone that wasn't herself?" THAT is the question. Sure doesn't seem so. I still want to know how Cassandra is related to her.
Urban, "While Olympia told Ignacio he is her favorite nephew I think she is playing him just as she does anyone else." Oh, yeah. When he brought up being the "favorite nephew", he sounded like a little kid longing to be somebody's favorite, not a grown man. One thing i think we can be sure of is that Olimpia will try to cause as much damage and pain as possible to Martina and her family.
Darcy, "Best PSA I can think of for don't marry someone five minutes after you meet them!" You can say that again. As for Fernando, yes, he has proved again that he is not smart at all. Imelda proves again can play him any way she wants.
More later.
Valentina has all the impetuousness of youth, but she is normal in not wanting any ties to Rutilio because he raped Bernarda. If Regina was the result of that it means that she is love now with her half-brother, which is a fate she doesn't deserve. Unless... Norma was pregnant at the altar by someone else and Rut doesn't know yet, which would be a fate he deserves!
Rut knows that Marco is playing Maria Teresa, but Marco doesn't reveal all his strategies to him any more than he confides in Adriana. Adriana is playing Rut and is probably smarter than he is. The question now is whether she can eliminate Grim before he outs her.
Jarifa, thank you for another excellent report from the couch as these characters continue to try to find their way.
It seems odd to me that the writers decided to give us this storyline about Cassandra and damaged , struggling Igy. Is she going to be the one who saves him from the abyss? The exotic dancer turned designer ?
My next question is how big are the flowers on Olympia and Cassandra clothing going to get ? I remember Colomba wearing a dress with an enormous flower on her shoulder in Invencible." Martina's butterfly pin looks tiny in comparison.
Violetta is no shy violet . As soon as she saw Rog , her eyes lit up with that look ....You've seen that look...maneater ...fresh meat ...Prime cut. Will Rog be so frustrated with recent events that he buys what she is selling ? That would be sad .
Juggling kids, jobs, dogs, life requires a couple to clearly decide who is responsible for what, when, where, how plus lots if planning , latirnce, and trust .
Add me to the " no man bun" list. I like long hair on men, but keep it down ...maybe a ponytail in a pinch ...but ban the bun. No just no.
Oh well, we are seeing people facing challenges as we all do. I want to see imperious Olympia brought down. I am suspicious about her " helping" Paula find a job. Was she just stirring the pot ? What a wasted life soaked in revenge . The best revenge is living a rewarding life .
Beatriz is awful. What an entitled snob. Imelda is the Apple that fell right next to the tree.
Urban, thank you for another excellent recap .
Val strikes me as a little girl trying to be a big girl. She us way over her head .
I hope Regina and Clemente are not siblings . I just watched another telenovela in which a married couple with a baby thought they were siblings . The husband was like ...whatever, so what , but the wife was not having it. Of course, it turned out that they were not siblings . Bingo Square.
We should have a stupidity contest in this one because otherwise it will be impossible to watch. Leo, Jenifer, Marijo and Sara can all take part.
Apparently Mari at some point really insisted Leolet Roberta manage her money. Leo, being just as stupid as everyone else, agreed. He wasn't happy about it but still.
Gael is arrested.
Marijo actually thinks Roberta will keep her promise and help Gael. Roberta says'promise? I don't remember any such thing.
Emilia and Leo are novios. Emilia tells Zaira she's been raped.
Leo tells Mauricio he still can call off the engagement.
Roberta calls Sara stupid for being calm about Leo breaking up with her. Sara gets a point for defending herself and saying 'give me my place because you need my papa's help to get all the money.' But then apparently Sara can't get Emilia out of her way and needs Roberta to help her with this in exchange. It was funny how Roberta was stupid enough to insult someone whose help she needs. She still calls Sara a snake. I unfortunately didn't get what Sara responded.
Leo actually thinks his mother is changing. Emilia tells him she hurt people E loves and Leo is like 'you have to understand her. She is now alone.' These things are completely unrelated. You got to love this weird telenovela dialogue that makes no sense. Roberta is alone and so acused an innocent man of fraud and also would like to send both Gael and tiger to prison? Where is thischange he is talking about?
waterlily, thank you for your wise and thoughtful observations. I so appreciate your insights!! Terrific recap.
Roberta is so transparently evil, lying through her teeth. Her hugging and petting Leo knowing she (likely) detests him was hard to watch.
Ahh, so Roberta is managing Mari's money. Disgusted eye roll on my part!
We knew Gael wouldn't be free for long. He had an interesting cell mate - I wish I understaood what the conversation was.
Leo, like far too many recent galans is too supportive of his treacherous mother.
I'm happy Emilia and Leo are novios.
When Emilia related her rape to Zaira, we saw a blurry figure for only a second. I believe he had facial hair although the image was not sharp enough to identify anyone, I wondered if it was Mauricio.
Thank you so much waterlily!!
Diana
Waterlily, thanks for your recap! I had one of those days when everything is going horribly wrong, something pops up, something's wrong with the recording last minute, etc, ugh.
Thanks so much again!
Diana, I am not as good at recaping as the rest of you so I forgot about Gael and his cellmate. If I remember correctly, that guy told him that once Gael is transfered, that guy can arrange for some acquaintances to look after him. Not for free, of course. Gael was like'Who would they save me from if I'm locked up?' The guy said'oh dude, if I told you, you'd cry and cry. The guy also apparently has many girlfriends and they apparently are the ones suffering because it appears he has spent some time there and it might not evenbe his first time in prison. He told Gael he'll get used to it. I think he also said Gael's name is like a name of a celebrity or something. I feared the first guy Gael would meet would beat him up but this one tried to cheer him up and was like 'do you never laugh?' Gael told him he didn't ever expect to end up locked up. All of this I wrote from memory so it is paraphrased and might not be a translation word for word. I just completely forgot about these two.
Weirdo, I'm glad I could help. I thought you might be busy so I thought I'd write something in case you couldn't. While writing I was thinking, I bet Weirdo would have a lot to say about the episode.
I'm glad my hasty notes helped.
Waterlily, thank you , thank you for the recap .
Diana, I recorded that sale flashback episode and rewatched , and although the face was blurry, it definitely looked like Mau.
I agree that Roberta fawning over and caressing Leo while realizing him is awful to watch. How can you not love your own son?
Leo was so delighted that Emi is melting towards him and accepting him, but she drew back when he started kissing her as she flash backed to the rape. I wonder if she will tell him about it the next time she resists his kisses. Leo is a pretty good kisser. So, what did Emi tell people six years ago when she was pregnant with Nico? Is this the first time Zaira has heard about the rape? Does Tigre know ? Does Seb know ?
Poor Gael. This young actor did a short jail time in " Invencible " , too, but his dear dad stayed overnight with him in that show .
These telenovelas are all about what people want....money, power, other people .....
Susan, I believe this is the first time Zaira heard about the rape. I believe Emilia told her that Sebas is the only one who knows. She told Tiger her son's father had left her because she didn't want people to see her child as a product of rape. Maybe the rest of them think exactly what Tiger does,i.e., that Nico's father had abandoned him and E. But she said she was ashamed of what happened because her father worked so hard so that she could study in the capital. Tiger threw her out of the house for...Getting pregnant? The man leaving? I don't get which part he thinks was her fault. I wonder what he'd have thought if she had told him the truth back then. Would he think, as many even now do, that Emilia had provoked the man somehow and was asking for it. Emilia was apparently drugged and I'm guessing that's why she can't remember anything.
One more thing I remembered! Mauricio had promised Nico he'll have a father one day who will love him and his mother. He seems determined to get Emilia.I'm not surprised he did what he did. He is on the crazy team even sober if he believes the stuff he told Nico. It's not like he just wants to know Nico, he wants 'to have' both him and his mum. Emilia said she hasn't had sex with anyone before the rape so does Mauricio even realise why Nico even exists? Surely he remembers there was no ocasion on which they had sex so knowing this he still thinks Emilia would want to be with him. But I forgot he will just say he didn't know what he was doing and of course that means all isforgiven. I sometimes wish men could experience a tiny part of the suffering they cause to women and maybe this way it would click they can destroy a person's life.
I like when telenovelas balance the bad guys with truly good guys because there are still a lot of good guys in real life even though the bad seem to get noticed more .
Why aren't Camila and Remedios going directly to MT to warn her about Marco. This actor knows exactly to bring the wicked. He did a great job as the villain in Alborado who was so jealous of his magnificent primo played by Fernando Colunga.
Waterlily, haha, I DO have a lot to say about this episode (that I STILL didn't have a chance to watch), but you, Diana and Susan expressed most of my thoughts after reading your recap. It's getting hard to watch this show.
I can't believe Leo actually let Roberta manage the money. Why did they go there? They just ruined the Ignacio's will plot line.
Come on now. What where the chances that Roberta would keep her promise? I say about 0%.
I can't blame Jenny and Sara for being stupid. Their mom is Berta, so what did we expect? And they both inherited their father's bitchy annoying-ness. What a wonderful family. Run, Orlando, run!
I can't believe Leo actually believed Roberta. In the OG, Alejandro (the galán) NEVER trusted his mom. He evn kept calling her by her last name or her first name; there were very few cases in which he called her "mom".
One thing that really pisses me off in all this manipulating and playing nice from Roberta's part. Antonia Guerra in La Patrona was direct pretty much 99% of the time. She once told her daughter-in-law "Just breathe, because that's the only thing you're good at". Wise words. Although locking her in the stables was a bit of an overkill. Oh well. From all this fake Roberta scenes, I'll take the stables.
Thanks, Jarifa, great notes from your couch.
Rogelio is not very likable. Move on Paula! But we know she won’t. They both need to realize he works for someone now and is not the boss. So he shouldn’t plan middle of the day stuff. Hopefully Violeta won’t try to break up the marriage but it’s not looking good right now.
Well, I went from being impressed with Fernando to deciding he’s dumber than a rock. I can’t believe he told Imelda, and she told her mother. And now she’s collected DNA samples. I have two reasons to hope he’s not Gabriel’s son. Once is how horrible and betrayed Gabriel will feel and Imelda is the second. Can you picture her announcing that to the family. She would not do it tactfully!
Loved Fidel doing a happy dance and flopping on the bed!
So Olympia has more in store for the family. Ignacio should realize she’s using him.
Liz
Thanks, Urban, that was great.
I don’t blame Valentina for telling Clemente to stay away from her sister. She’s now realized he could be one or both of their half brothers.
Marco is going to make MT so indebted to him she’ll be willing to do almost anything to help him. I too thought Rut was surprised by the visit-and angry!
Adriana is going to have to supple Grim with some young females, and Valentina and Regina are the only ones I know of. I have a feeling Valentina will be able to fight Adriana off. And the book club ladies think she’s so wonderful to want to help young girls realize they can work and don’t need a husband.
Clemente knows the importance of the ranch because of it’s location. I sure wish he’d share it with Santos. And why doesn’t Remedios share with MT about Marco. Those two women have a good relationship.
Liz
waterlily, thank you so much for relating Gael's convo with his cell mate. He seemed like a decent guy. Oh dear, Gael doesn't seem to know what he is in for! You did a fine job on the recap, truly.
Also, thank you for "Emilia said she hasn't had sex with anyone before the rape so does Mauricio even realise why Nico even exists?" - excellent point!
I'm shocked Tigre threw Emi out of the house when she was pregnant. That seems so unlike him...
Susan, so you thought the rapist might be Mau too...I say "might" as I'm still thinking it might turn out to be someone we have barely seen so far or not seen at all!
Weirdo, I can't believe Leo calls and refers to Roberta as his "mother" either! Mothers are all different, but have to possess at least a bit of "human"ity, and I see none in her.
Diana
Finally caught up.
Roberta is a one-note villain. How did this actress ever get through drama school? She does not mask her evil well.
She also had to expect repercussions of extorting Marijo's inheritance out of her and going back on her word about Gael. The confrontation with Emilia will be talked about for days at least.
Those drinks Gilberta made looked declassee and gross.
I almost laughed when she went into Adalberto's office to try getting some nooky. Rodrigo Murray was hilarious in that scene. He as also appropriately slimy as the crooked hospital administrator in Medicos, Linea de Vida a few years ago. I'm still waiting for the sequel to that one.
Marijo is so dumb for surrendering her inheritance.
Susan, "Add me to the " no man bun" list. I like long hair on men, but keep it down ...maybe a ponytail in a pinch ...but ban the bun. No just no. " I am right there with you. : )
Liz, "Loved Fidel doing a happy dance and flopping on the bed!" I am so glad that we had that happy moment to balance out way too much drama.
Jarifa, I'm very late to the party but I want you to know how much I enjoyed your recap.
Ugh, Rogelio did nothing right last night. His spying on Paula's phone bugged me most of all.
I'm not sure why Paula is crying though. Mujer, time to stand up and put your foot down.
Funny that Martina is so cagey about the women she lets into her family but her sons are inept in being responsible husbands. But I'm sure Rogelio will grow into the role.
Niecie, I loved “Mujer, time to stand up and put your foot down.” You said it and were so right. ; )
Notes from the couch . . . the "Things Ain't Good" edition
Lots going on in Mexico City
ROGELIO and PAULA make up the next morning but Paula is not smiling even after Rogelio makes his apologies. She makes him promise to never look for anything on her phone again. She will not stand for his disrespect. He promises. They agree to meet for a meal later that day at a restaurant near his job. Before he leaves the office, VIOLETA invites him to go eat with her. He says no, he is eating with his WIFE. Rogelio and Paula talks about the main issue: her career. He admits that his controlling personality sometimes gets the better of him. She explains that music is her passion but she would never let it interfere with her caring for Lucas and Jazz. He says they have to talk about things. She says she tried but it never happened. She reminds him that she supported herself through her music before they got married and when he doesn't want her to work while the family is in such trouble economically, it makes her feel like he is disparaging her profession. He assures her that he never wanted to make her feel that way and apologizes again. She says that their marriage is in a crisis but she knows that their love will see them through. Violeta pops by to say "hi!" Rogelio introduces her to Paula and asks if she wants to join them. She says no but remarks what an exemplary husband Paula has. When she leaves, Paula asks what was that??? Rogelios says again José Juan's niece. Paula doesn't like how she looked at and talked to Rogelio. Rogelio thinks she is jealous. Violeta was a bit too friendly for Paula's taste. Rogelio assures her that everything is fine. Paula smiles.
OLIMPIA and MARACA Olimpia tells Martina that no dogs are allowed in the building. What to do.? Lucas says he can always go live with his aunt Pati because the dog is the only thing making him happy there. Eva takes Maraca out for walk on her way to the panadería. She loses Maraca but he comes home on his own and pees right in front of the apartment door to announce his return. Paula later finds out that dogs are allowed in the building and confronts Olimpia about the issue when she reminds them that Maraca has to go. Olimpia agrees but SHE doesn't allow dogs in HER apartments. Lucas asks her why she is such an angry thing who hates dogs anyway? Rogelio shushes him. It also turns out that Olimpia doesn't want so many people living in her apartment either even its it is just for a visit as in the case of Eva and Cecilia. .
IMELDA and BEATRIZ turn in the cup and the hair to a lab for DNA tests to be done. They have sunglasses on and are trying to be incognito. When the lab representative asks them for a name and contact number. Imelda gives her number but says that she is Paula Iturbide. (but then she paid with her charge card. was't her name on that?
OLIMPIA has hired a private investigator (this is #7) to find a person she is looking for. She is ready to cancel this investigator's contact because he still hasn't found the person. He informs her that they know what city the person is in and now it is just a matter of finding the right address. She will pay when she sees results. She is in tears.
ULISES tells ALE that he is interested in her but that he was in love with Paula and he is now just getting over it. He wants to go out and forth to get to know each other. Maybe they can create something unforgettable together. They have a lot in common. Ale thanks him for telling her.
IGNACIO gets a call from his lawyer in Morelia telling him that he has the divorce papers ready to be signed. Ignacio tells him that his wife had an abortion without his knowledge. Is there any way that she could be sanctioned in the divorce? The lawyer says he doesn't want to go there. There would be too much medical evidence they would have to gather. The lawyer advises him to take advantage of the fact that his wife wants nothing from him. If he wants a child, there are plenty of women out there. Ignacio tells the lawyer to leave the papers with Felipa.
Ignacio calls Olimpia to tell her he is going back to Morelia. He is also done helping her with her Iturbide revenge. She asks him if he has forgotten where the money for his business came from. He hangs up.
Ignacio texts Cecilia that he is signing the divorce papers. He is asking for nothing. He understands that she doesn't love him. He still loves her but will learn to stop loving her. That is a promise he made to himself. He hopes that she is happy.
CECILIA has felt guilty the whole episode because she lied to Ignacio about the abortion/ pregnancy and now not knowing what she is going to do.
EVA sends a friend request to CASSANDRA and waits to be friended. Cassandra is still upset by the interviewer bringing up La Perla. She thlnks back to when she was just a kid altering the the women's dresses at La Perla. She remembers Eva talking about how she hated feeling like she was for sale.
CASSANDRA is being sent by Olimpia to get their branch open in Morelia. She tells Olimpia that the disagreeable person she met in Morelia was the man she saw coming out of her office the other day. His name is Ignacio. She asks Olimpia again how she knows him. Olimpia tells her again that he is just an acquaintance and acts disgusted that Cassandra sounds like she might be interested him. She changes the subject.
Cassandra contacts Ignacio and they go out to eat. She gets a call from Olimpia in the middle of the meal. She is waiting to go eat with Cassandra. Cassandra lies and says she is catching up with an old girlfriend who is in town. Ignacio explains To Cassandra about his divorce and why he is going back to Morelia. He admits he is ambivalent about signing the divorce papers. He is just as mixed up about his feeling for his wife. All he knows is that the whole thing hurts. He tells Cassandra to call him when she gets to Morelia.
GABRIEL takes Martina to a place (a building) where they met once upon a time when they were going to run away together. In a flashback, we see an undecided Martina telling Gabriel that she didn't know how her father would react when he discovered that she had run away with him. In the present, Martina says the worst did happen and for years she couldn't forgive herself for the heart attack her father had. Gabriel says he didn't bring her there to torment her but only to remind her that life has given them a second chance.
FERNANDO cannot find a job anywhere and comes to visit Rogelio at work. Rogelio tells him maybe he needs to just take the job he was offered by José Juan. He uses himself as an example
LUCAS learns that the word for a person from Mexico City is "chilango" from a girl at his new school.
IMELDA returns from a day out with her mother. MARTINA tells that if she is going out for the whole day, she needs to take her baby with her.
THE DOUBLE TROUBLE ENDING
1. Olimpia tells the Iturbides that there is no way she can agree to sell the property to the buyer they have lined up. He has a criminal record. She fears that there will be legal complications if she does. They need to find another buyer. She says they can stay at the apartment for as long as they need to. She only asks that they respect her conditions.
2. Fernando attacks Martina for the whole mess with Olimpia and making them move to Mexico City. Martina asks why would have she have lied? Fernando says maybe she can tell them. Rogelio follow him into the bedroom.
Rogelio asks how dare he talk to their mother that way. Fernando says that their mother maybe is not the "saint " that everyone makes her out to be. Rogelio asks him what all the mystery is about. Just tell him . He is his brother after all. Fernando says maybe not. Fernando then tells Rogelio that Gabriel is his father. Martina comes in asking what is going on.
Please add anything I left out.
Thank you Darcy and Urban for your fantastic recaps! My sister and I have been following this novela on Vix.com. (My sister is still in the very early stages of learning Spanish, so I translate for her, reading the Spanish subtitles. My comprehension has improved a lot, but Spanish subtitles are always appreciated!)
Rut (or "Rutile," as my sister and I call him) is beyond vile. Marco is too, but Luis Roberto Guzman is a genius, I've decided. I've not really appreciated his acting talents before, but he is amazing as Marco.
I'm looking forward to finding out the secrets about Valentina's real padre!
I have a question, and don't know where to ask... My sister and I are also watching several other novelas on Vix, and using Caray's excellent recaps to help confirm details (these recaps are a treasure!) and right now I can't find anything for "Vencer el Pasado." The pages for them show no comments. Does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks so much!
- 2 Black and White Cats, also known as "Elvira" (I have written recaps here off and on.)
Hi Elvira, there was an issue with people from other websites stealing content from Caray and posting it to their sites without permission. These were sites that were watching in other countries so the shows they were currently broadcasting and watching were not on the same schedule as we are. Because of this certain information was removed - this corresponded to whichever novelas were being broadcast in their countries at the time - and I don't remember exactly which shows but I am guessing Vencer el Pasado was in that group of show recaps that were removed. I know the hope is to restore the content at some point, but unfortunately for now it is unavailable.
Jarifa, your spectacular recap did masterful justice to this exciting, eventful episode.
Although Martina has thawed considerably since this began, I find it hard to reconcile the frigid, unyielding woman we first met having a child with Gabriel. Having Rogelio be Gabriel’s son would certainly shake things up but do we know this is definite? Did Imelda and Beatriz actually get the DNA results or was Fernando acting solely on what he heard?
No Fidel to brighten the night but Macera running off and returning just as everyone went on the mad search was cute. Macera knows where his bone is buried (so to speak). “Lucas says he can always go live with his aunt Pati because the dog is the only thing making him happy there”. A foreshadowing perhaps?
Who is Olimpia trying to find?
“CECILIA has felt guilty the whole episode because she lied to Ignacio about the abortion/ pregnancy and now not knowing what she is going to do” is exactly right. She should have thought of the consequences before she told him a lie that would obviously be exposed in time.
I knew Cassandra was one of the characters in the flashback scene but I had no idea Eva was the other person.
Violeta is trouble with a capital “T”. Paula needn’t worry, Rogelio doesn’t seem interested in the slightest (famous last words?)
Diana
Darcy, thanks for the info about what happened to "Vencer el Pasado." Now I can stop wondering what is going on!
Thank you Jarifa for capturing all the angst for us yet again! Your lazer eyes miss nothing while relaxing on that comfy couch!
Fernando can't find a job - well, let's see, he turned down the first one because he's too good for it and he missed the second job interview because he was late! How hard is he really trying? He's entitled and now he's throwing a fit in his frustration and outting Martina. Well, potentially outting Martina since we don't even know for certain yet if that rumor is true. At least Imelda can feel a little better about her inability to keep a secret since hubby can't either!
Violeta isn't subtle at all.... I wonder what she sees in Rogelio? He's a much older man, married and in a mid-level job and in the middle of a huge family scandal? Doesn't seem like the likely target of a gold digger. And while he's not bad looking, he's also not the stop traffic 'OMG look at that man!' type.
Cassandra getting so nervous over Ignacio was both cute and sad. Imagine finding out you were expending all that energy in the hopes of attracting a violent and disturbed man. And I agree with the comments yesterday, Olimpia doesn't love Iggy at all, she is using him for her own agenda. I still somehow want the big happy ending for Ignacio with his wife and child even though I know it's all but impossible, he breaks my heart in his vulnerable moments.
I wonder who Ms. Olimpia is looking for....
The engagement feat. the Quintanas whining - Part 1/2
Tigre tries to see Gael. That annoying woman who works in the police tells him to go get a lawyer. She doesn't let him see his kid.
Emilia goes to Roberta's house. There's a party going on for Mau and Jenny's engagement. She asks to speak to Roberta.
When they go somewhere more private, Emi blackmails Roberta with her relationship with Fidel. She says she'll tell everyone about it, Roberta tells her she has no proof, but Emi replies that the people don't need proof; she tells her to think of the consequences. The senator will lose his carrer, the mayor won't want Jenny to marry Mau, her kids will hate her and she will stop being a Patrona. Roberta, in the most ridiculous moment of the episode, says that she doesn't care about not being a Patrona (😂 says the woman who spends half the episodes running around telling everyone she's La Patrona), she only cares about her kids (😂😂😂). She asks Emi want does she want. Emi tells her to release Gael. Roberta says she'll do it. Joaquina was listening to all this conversation.
Emi goes to leave, Leo sees her and they talk about Gael. At the end, they kiss. Of course Sara sees them. Her face reminds me of mine whenever a telenovela episode gets preempted.
She goes outside, in front of everyone and tells Leo and Emi to talk about them being together. Leo doesn't deny it at all, in fact he does the exact opposite. Sara is all tearful, Roberta looks pissed off and Mau starts to drink. Roberta gets her fake act on and says Emi should stay here because she has a place here. Pfff, sure, I believe her. Hard not to, verdad?
Tigre tells Zaira and Nico that he couldn't see Gael. They tell him about Emi going to see La Patrona. He doesn't take this very well.
Berta, Sara and Jenny cry all together. Overreacting, much? Berta blames Sara at first (classic Berta) and then Emilia. Cause you know, men don't have any responsibility for these things. It's definitely not Leo's "fault"! It has to be a woman's only! Sara says she can't believe it; now that everyone knows, everyone will talk about their family! I mean, YOU'RE the one who told everyone, but ok.
Seb is drinking tequilas when Miriam comes and drinks with him. They get drunk and they kiss. She tries to kiss him more times but he pushes her away.
Mau is still drinking, drinking, drinking. Roberta tells him she has the money from Marijó, the only thing he needs to do is get married to Jenny. He asks her how she managed to do that but she doesn't reply.
Joaquina tells Marijó about Gael being in prison.
Adalberto whines to Roberta about Leo and Emi being together. Fidel comes and Adalberto leaves them alone. Roberta tells Fidel Adalberto is stupid, which he (Adalberto) almost hears, LOL. She says she needs Emi and her family for now because there's gold in La Cueva del Diablo. She tells him about Marijó's money and says that people are stupid (she's not wrong) and that's how she gets to do whatever she wants.
Sara tells Emi Leo will leave her because she's not of his class. Says Sara, the woman that has 0 class and shows it everyday, in every moment of her life.
The engagement feat. the Quintanas whining - Part 2/2
Adalberto screams at Leo for doing this to their family. He then says something disturbing along the lines of "I get wanting to sleep with Emilia, she's very pretty but-" Leo starts hitting him, Orlando stops them. (Fun fact: there are some words that are pronounced the same but have a different meaning in different languages. "Chula" is a good example; in Spanish, it means pretty, in Greek, it means $lut. So don't try to call a Greek woman "chula", because she won't be a happy camper.)
Sara whines to Leo. FF-->
Adalberto is still being mean to Berta, who whines to him about it. Adalberto thinks the best reply would be to tell her she's old and there are things she can't do anymore. Berta, I swear, if you don't divorce his stupid butt after this, I will not feel sorry for anything that happens to you afterwards.
Jenny screams at Emi for trying to ruin her. Yep, because that's what Emi wants to do all day; she doesn't have better things to do, no, she wakes up thinking "hm, how could I ruin Jennifer Quintana's life today?" Emi tries to calm her down, Jenny is her usual annoying insulting. Emi is patient, but when Jenny says that the man who got her pregnant must have found out the type of woman she was and that's why he left her and Nico, she slaps her. She tells her not to mention her son again. Jenny whines that she's crazy. Says the woman that STILL wants to marry Mau after all this (as she mentioned earlier).
Jenny whines to Roberta about Emi slapping her. Roberta tells her she must have provoked her and to shush and stop causing scandals if she wants to marry Mau.
Mau asks Jenny to marry him, with the most unhappy face in the history of proposals. Jenny, surprisingly (not) accepts. Ugh.
Marijó goes to the police station and tells the annoying employee she went with Gael with free will, he didn't kidnap her, can he get released now? The woman gives her some papers to sign and Marijó proves her stupidity once again by NOT READING WHAT'S SHE SIGNING. They still won't release Gael.
Roberta accidentally on purpose throws champagne on Emi because she's not leaving, I guess? She goes to the bathroom and runs into Joaquina who tells her she's happy she's with Leo. She informs her she told Marijó about Gael and she's going to the police station to get him released. Emi hugs her and thanks her.
Marijó goes to the police station AGAIN with Tigre and Zaira and they demand Gael gets released.
At this point, my video stopped! Wikipedia says Mau told Emi he loves her and Leo heard. If there's anything important I missed, feel free to add it.
I forgot to add that in the blackmail scene, Emi made the black queen (the one on Roberta's side) from a chess set fall before leaving. Badass!
It feels Rogelio and Paula are walking in circles. He gets mad about something she does, they argue and he refuses to listen, he apologises. Rogelio is lika a child who says sorry but does the same thing again. And is his controling side responsible for him looking at Paula's phone for no reason and not wanting her to work when they desperately need money? He doesn't seem to trust her if he needs to look at her phone. And it's plain stupid not to want her to work given the circumstances. I wonder if he would want to control her if what he wants her to do wouldn't also be convenient for him.If Paula doesn't work, she is at his beck and call and he just seems to want it no matter how many times he apologises. It still baffles me he treated her as his employee in the previous episode so it doesn't seem just like a control issue. After all, Honorio could have picked Lucas up but Rogelio insisted Paula had to do it. And you don't look at someone's phone without having serious trust issues.
Olimpia is starting to bore me a bit because for a successful woman she is way too childish with the whole 'I'm not selling hahaha' nonsense. But both Rogelio and Martina at some points acted like kids so maybe it's in the family.
I wonder what Martina was like when younger. I can't believe Gabriel is still in love with her because she is a completely different person now. The whole love after many years idea is interesting but people change so I wonder which version the person is in love with.
Ignacio won't get rid of Olimpia so easily. But what does she mean by 'remember where the money for your business came from'? I mean, even if she gave it to him, what is she going to do if hetells her to leave him in peace? I don't get what her threat was about.
I've said all along Imelda shouldn't have had kids because she doesn't seem to have realised they are her responsibility. The worst thing is that she doesn't seem to love Ada enough to want to spend time with her. Poor child. But if Imelda keeps trying to pass the responsibility of care onto someone else, there's no way those children will be very happy. Why try to redeem such a selfish person?'Loves them in her own way' only means 'not healthy love' or 'actually loves herself far more'. At least that's what I imagine some would say about her, which is no compliment. A person willing to use her own kids is really the lowest of the low.
Thanks, Jarifa. I enjoyed reading your notes.
Martina got on Imelda for leaving the baby for the day, I thought. But she spent the night with her mom too. I guess she and her mom have made up. And now her mom is picturing her daughter as the ruler of the house. That would be bad for everyone. But I have decided that Fernando married the person he deserved. I can’t believe he told Rogelio they weren’t brothers and Gabriela is his father. That was cruel. He didn’t even do it in a caring manner, he did it to hurt Rogelio. I really hope it’s not true.
Cassandra will be in for a surprise when she sees Ignacio angry and hurting her. I think Olimpia will keep him working for her to destroy the family some more. I wonder if she’ll find out that Paula’s parents were murdered.
What will the family do about Maraca? I was thinking Marco and Blanca could take him, or Luis. But Lucas will not be willing to part with him.
I’m sure Rogelio is going to find out that “Paula” did the DNA test. She will be really confused and Imelda will enjoy the chaos she created. She didn’t stay nice very long!
Liz
Great work, Jarifa.
It's obvious that Pati getting the dog was specifically to provoke the situation they're in now. Many rental apartments don't allow dogs and we all probably predicted that Olympia would object. Paula is catching on to this with no effort. She knows that Olympia is getting off on the misery she is creating.
Which makes no logical sense. A woman as successful as she apparently is should be long over a lost romantic possibility, especially since we have no evidence that Martina had stolen Gabriel from her. The flashbacks show that the young Gabriel was handsome and charming (good casting job because the facial structure and natural hairline are similar to Otto Sirgo's) and that he was a considerate boyfriend who would probably have been a good husband. However, that was 40+ years ago. We also have no evidence that Martina was an abusive wife to Hipolito. She fulfilled her societal role in that position and he cheated on her but since the marriage was basically arranged that was a likely outcome. If Rogelio is Gabriel's offspring, why did Olympia take so long to raise this issue? That could have been proven 30 years ago. Or was it? Is there a possibility that Olympia planted seeds of doubt in Hipolito's head, he had the test done with that result, and he kept his mouth shut about it? That would coincide with him cheating on Martina with Irma.
If Rogelio is Gabriel's, that certainly explains why he became Martina's favorite son. However, Fernando is still an idiot for holding that against him. His anger at Martina is somewhat understandable.
Rogelio has been the family's main breadwinner his whole adult life. It's hard to back off from an established role like that. He was certainly somewhat parentified before then. This whole situation is not easy compounded with the discovery of having a son he didn't know about and the knowledge that Martina had sabotaged his relationship with Erica. He's under so much pressure I'm amazed he hasn't been diagnosed with hypertension.
Cassandra's background is proof positive that birds of a feather flock together but that doesn't mean it can turn into anything good. Ignacio is past the point of no return.
Imelda doesn't learn, does she? She ran to Mama upon finding out about the paternity question from her idiot husband and now arranged for the DNA test in a way that can potentially blow up the family. I totally agree that she is using Ada as a tool to manipulate Fernando and Martina, but I think that Martina knows that or she would not have gotten on her case.
Violetta is a definite trouble-maker and she is just immature enough to be doing this for kicks.
Need to type up the Tierra recap now so I can post it by noon.
Weirdo, this was truly exceptional. Somehow, you managed to find humor amidst all of the sad, sordid, dreadful details of last night’s story. “Sara sees them. Her face reminds me of mine whenever a telenovela episode gets preempted” had me smiling and nodding in agreement.
"Chula" is a good example; in Spanish, it means pretty, in Greek, it means $lut. So don't try to call a Greek woman "chula", because she won't be a happy camper)” was an excellent vocabulary lesson.
So much for a classy soiree. Was there anyone in attendance who wasn’t totally miserable??
Jennifer is a Class 1 whiner. Orlando’s face dissolving into tears had me so frustrated. Buck up man and get a grip!! Yes, Jennifer and Mau were both in utter agony. Good luck to them.
Emilia continues to be cool as a cucumber in any crisis situation. Of course slapping Jennifer was well deserved and unavoidable. I’m surprised she didn’t go for the jugular. She holds her own with Roberta remarkably well. Like you, I loved Emilia toppling the chess piece. Check. Mate.
Leo is unfailingly gallant and swoon worthy handsome.
Adalberto’s remark about kissing Emilia was beyond inappropriate. THE most unappealing character. Ever. His wife and daughters aren’t much better are they?
Is Gael ever going to get out of prison??
And last but certainly not least “Roberta, in the most ridiculous moment of the episode, says that she doesn't care about not being a Patrona (😂 says the woman who spends half the episodes running around telling everyone she's La Patrona), she only cares about her kids (😂😂😂)”. Perfect Weirdo, just perfect.
Diana
Weirdo, thank you for a spectacular recap of all the drama as our story spins forward.
Who knew Emi was a chess player ! Checkmate, Roberta.
Wow, go, Leo, go . Legend in his own mind Adelberto got schooled in not talking trash about Emi . Hey my dude ( heheh) , Leo isn't someone you want to mess with . Seb would be right there to back him up. Mau would be there behind a wall cheering them on.
Poor Seb, getting his drunk on. Emi seems to drive men to drink. I really like Seb. As always, the poor hopelessly devoted guy has a girl interested
in him , but he can't love her because his heart belongs to the leading lady .
(See also Ulysses in " Eternamente.")
I wonder if Emi is going to tell Leo about the rape soon. If Leo finds out it was Mau, he will go all beast mode on him.
Weirdo, I learned that words that sound the same can have very different meanings in another language . I said a word in English and there were snickers from the Arabic speakers in the class. Also, I had a Spanish speaker tell me that some Spanish words can have different slang meanings in other Spanish speaking countries.
Urban, your noting Pati knew exactly what she was doing mirrors my thoughts exactly.
Your musings on the past, on what may or may not have transpired were intriguing.
You raise issues regarding Rogelio I hadn't totally considered. He has some good qualities but needs to work toward marriage being an equal partnership. He needs to truly believe and ensure that Paula's needs, wants and life's work is equally as important as his and that they come to fruition.
I had also thought Ignacio is doomed but changed my mind when he and Cassandra met. It will be intresting to see what happens.
Diana
Funniest moment : Roberta calling Adalberto " imbecile " and Addled hearing and turning around . These telenovela folks just love that word and throw it around a lot.
Diana, Oswaldo is a great galan , and he has the whole telenovela kissing choreography down. Maybe he watched Daniel in " Invencible."
I think that the actress playing Sara is a much better, more nuanced villain that the actress playing Roberta. Watch Sara's body language and facial expressions when she talks down to Emi. ...her eyes, the tilt of her head as she tries to intimidate her . The tight , black leather sheath dress reads " don't mess with Spiderwoman ."
Right after the scene of Sara trying to intimidate Emi on the patio, we move inside to Adalberto attempting to do the same to Leo (ha) . Leo pushes the taller Adalberto backwards into the wall for his disrepectful talk about chula Emi before Orlando breaks them up. As Adalberto leaves , he does that classic male move of purposely bumping shoulders with Leo .
Episode 37: Part 1 of 2
Valentina told Regina she confronted Rut and told her the consequences. Regina protested and could not stop crying. She ran off as Bernarda approached.
Rut greeted Adriana in the street and they flirted. Remedios watched from a distance, telling herself “Men... they're all the same.”
Marco and Rut argued again.
Valentina lied to Bernarda about her whereabouts, then confronted her about her and Regina's paternities.
Rut and Marco argued about Maria Teresa. It is evident [to us] that Rut felt threatened by her.
Santos told Cris that Maria Teresa's wedding did not happen because Aldo was insincere. He continued to fake indifference.
Marco brought shots but Rut felt he was being over-run. He still tried to throw his weight around. Marco said he was going to get La Esperanza. Rut walked away and Marco smirked.
Esteban and Armando talked. He told Esteban that there was nothing negative in the inspection report and now he was free.
Trejo was downing shots of tequila as he told Clemente about the woman who had dumped him for another man years ago.
Marco went to the planting fields and saw Maria Teresa digging alongside her workers. He went on about how she should not be doing this and sequed to saying that her no one there was working acceptably, starting with Santos. This provoked Santos' temper. Maria Teresa took Marco aside and told him to keep out of this. He only left after she agreed to dine with him. She went back to the soil, but Santos smelled a rat.
Regina had written a letter to Clemente but Valentina said it would be better to just cut him out of her life.
Esteban called the ranch and told Genoveva he would shortly be there. She was not to tell anyone and spoil the surprise.
Santos and Maria Teresa argued about Marco. Again.
Clemente was depressed and told his mother what happened. Norma decided to confront Rut.
Episode 37: Part 2 of 2
After dark Maria Teresa was done for the day and told the others to go and rest for tomorrow. Santos noticed her calloused hands and offered help about that.
Marco and Grim talked about the river and Grim told Marco he and Adriana knew each other.
Santos tended to Maria Teresa's hands and she finally admitted that she did not marry Aldo because she loved another. She then went on about Valentina, saying that she was not looking to break them up.
Adriana realized she could shortly be in deep shit.
Maria Teresa said she was walking away from Santos because he loved Valentina. Santos did not want this conversation to end and pulled her back at every attempt she made to leave his place. They disagreed over reconciliation and Valentina showed up.
Adriana led Grim out and had it out with him. This ended with him threatening exposure if she refused to cooperate with his demands. He insisted that she begin supplying women in two weeks. He even suggested that he would have a place for her if she wished to re-enter her former profession.
Maria Teresa went home. Santos and Valentina hugged right after Maria Teresa left.
Rut arrived home to a demand from Norma for an explanation about Valentina's visit. Not only did he not answer he was dismissive, as he usually is with her.
Valentina told Santos the bare bones of why she confronted Rutilio.
Rut told Clemente to keep out of his things and threatened to throw him out of the house if he did not obey.
Valentina brought up the paternity issue and asked Santos if he believed she and Regina had the right to know. He agreed that they did but said that as long as they had Bernarda they would have all they needed. He then took her home.
Norma packed a suitcase and told Rut she was sick of him laughing at her. He refused to let her leave and pulled the I-Need-You act on her.
Maria Teresa thought about Santos and everything she wanted to put in the past.
Norma was sick of her and Rut's sick relationship. He brought up her father's mistakes and tried saying that Clemente could not handle their separating. He pulled the suitcase out of her reach and pretended to plead with her. [I almost lost my dinner listening to this.]
Valentina told Regina that Bernarda would not tell her any more. Regina swore she would never love anyone else.
Who is the girl who was kissing Seb? He seemed to be all in on the kiss at first.
After Jenny and Drunken skunk Mau yelled at each other in the office of doom , Mau knocked ALL those chess pieces on the floor. Then, it was Adelberto and Fidal's turn in the office , and the chess pieces had disappeared . hmmm who picked them up ??
Next up , Sara and Leo share a patio moment as drunken skunk and Mom's favorite Mau rambles and whimpers on to Mean Mom Roberto. He looks at the engagement ring, and it seems like he wants to hit Mom with the chessboard.
Next, Sara tries crying and pleading to Leo . Poor loser .
Then, back to the patio with Jenny yelling at Emi. Poor Emi can't help it that she is irresistible and chula ( in the good way, not the slutty way) and is a man magnet . I don't think she said that , but I am saying it . Everybody wants Emi. Leo has her ....for the moment . People are not happy . Que lastima.
Wow, then the happy engagement announcement from drunken skunk . Applause. Bad kissing . Can you feel the love ?
Round two for Roberta and Emi. Whoops ...classic drink spill on the leading lady.
Then, Seb has second thoughtS about kissing that disappointed lady in red with the fierce eyebrows and escapes.Who is this person looking for love with tsll drink of water Seb at the free bar? These shows are all about people wanting people who want other people . Bingo.
There was lots and lots of disappointed , angry people drinking in this episode.
Emi did not look happy when she saw Sara getting all bands with Leo on the patio while they were talking to some rando couple . Why do galans let their exes get all handsy ???
Did Jennifer and Orlando actually ever have a thing ? They don't seem like just besties . He is adorable . Stops her from drinking . ..until she picks up her glass again. Sad puppy eyes.
Thanks, Urban, I enjoyed that. Felt the same as you when Rut was begging Norma not to leave. But I guess he fooled her. Did he ever use the word “love”. I don’t think so.
I get so mad every time Marco tells MT that Santos and the workers aren’t good. I hope she’s getting a little annoyed Well, Santos now knows how MT feels, and Valentina arrived at a bad moment. I bet Santos wishes he never agreed to that relationship.
It would be horrible thinking that Rut might be your father. I hope he isn’t, but wonder who it could be, maybe MT’s father? Bernarda seems to have feelings for him.
I still can’t figure out where Adriana will get girls for Grim. She will end up involved in sex trafficking. Plus there’s only two young girls in this show.
Clemente needs to leave his house. He should try to get into art school. If he’s gone Norma may get the nerve to leave too. I like Rut the least in this show. He thinks he’s hot stuff and really important. But he’s pretty much a commen criminal.
Liz
Thanks for the comments, everyone! I'll formally reply later today or tomorrow.
Susan, the lady with Seb was Míriam, Adalberto's lover. At one point she told him "I wish my man [Adalberto] was like you". I honestly can't think of a good reason all these women stay with Adalberto. He has almost 0 good qualities.
Thanks, Weirdo, for the great stuff. I feel the same way when novelas are pre-empted. Media sales reps from both networks told me that their switchboards lit up like Times Square on New Year's Eve when that happens. Or when novelas get interrupted.
Adalberto is a slimeball. His daughters should be embarrassed to death by both him and their mother.
As usual for narcissists Roberta's Golden Child is the weaker one. She has fooled herself into thinking that Leo is the weaker of her sons because he is capable of love but it really is Mauricio because of his addiction. Now that we know that Nico is the product of a rape Mauricio must be seriously delusional if he thinks a positive result will get him access to him. Emilia will fight that tooth and nail. She will eventually have a revelatory flashback.
Emilia is seriously badass in her willingness to confront her enemies and I am wondering to what extent she is forcing this on herself. The sexual harassment she is often on the receiving end of is so disgusting. She doesn't catch a break either and now this could get worse when the gossip starts about her and Leo.
Jennifer is no better than her sister; she's a spoiled brat.
Urban, you covered everything so well!
I find Marco handsome but smarmy, without charm. I hope his sexist, classist attitude was not lost on Maria Teresa.
It was so obvious that Maria Teresa and Santos were going to kiss when Valentina burst through the door! I was a bit surprised she enveloped Santos in a hug without saying anything. As she is very sharp she must have been too immersed in her grief to have noticed Maria Teresa and Santos thisclose, suddenly breaking apart.
FINALLY an admission of love from Maria Teresa! It was noble of her to think of Valentina as I think Santos was in shock and forgot his girlfriend in the heat of the moment.
Santos saying as long as Valentina and Regina had Bernarda “they have they needed” was good advice. And of course Regina needs to be told. Valentina telling Regina not to say anything to Clemente was bad advice.
“Trejo was downing shots of tequila as he told Clemente about the woman who had dumped him for another man years ago”. Could it possibly be??? I certainly can’t visualize Norma with Trejo but she ended up with Rut, who is not of her class but who is of Trejo’s caliber, just sporting a better suit and a false veneer of manners.
Grim has backed Adriana into a corner. When is she going to make a move to do something about it??
There has always been some hidden emotional connection between Bernardo and Esteban. Is it at all possible he could be the father of one of the girls?
Diana
Minas
Thank you Weirdo, for another wonderful recap. I sort of half watched this episode....I'm not sure I am going to stick with Minas. It hasn't captured me as much as Tierra and Enternamente and I can't keep up with all three.
I would say though that I don't think Marijo is stupid, young and naive yes but not stupid. She sees right through Roberta she just doesn't have the life experience or the tools to fight back. She's being blackmailed and she knows it but she is desperate so she buckles just like Roberta wants. I think the stupid one is Leo for buying this whole thing and agreeing to it - he's old enough to know better. And signing without reading isn't wise but again she's young, I don't think it would/should occur to her to be suspicious of the police.
I don't personally know anyone who was conceived in rape and I can't imagine how horrible it must feel. Both Valentina and Regina are young women with normal wants and feelings so finding out that Rut is one's sperm donor would be devastating to either of them. No woman on earth should be forced to carry a pregnancy resulting from rape and going into the future I hope novelas will have rape victims deciding in favor of abortion now that abortion is legal across the country there.
Maria Teresa would have heard plenty of sexist crap in her professional life before taking on the ranch. Ask any woman with an MBA. Not to mention envious swipes because she grew up in privilege.
Prostitution in our time is mostly a last resort done in desperation. That is likely how Adriana got there herself.
Urban, you are so right about women working in businesses dominated by men. Will it ever change ? You would think MT would recognize the type of guy Marco is after her time dealing with men in the business world . She should be more savvy at this point instead of a babe in the woods . I guess what a fool believes he\she sees. Of course, there are smart people who don't have common sense . MT is too gullible for a business savvy woman.
Pathetic just about describes nearly everyone in this episode. The worst and funniest bit was when Jenifer said 'fate' wanted her to marry Mauricio. Orlando should have told her it's her choice to marry him. It's such a tragedy that both Jenifer and Sara, like some other women, get angry at thewoman for supposedly stealing their man. In Jen's case it's just so absurd when Mauricio repeats every chance he gets he doesn't love her.Jen is very high in the 'stupidity' prize competition now. In fact, I'm tempted to give the medal to her right now because it's been a while since I saw someone as pathetic as this lady. She said it's better for everyone if she marries M, but how could that be? Roberta isn't nearly as rich as Ignacio.
Why Marijo didn't go to Leo for help about the blackmail is a mystery to me. She isn't entirely alone. And for someone who is so aware of what Roberta is like, she is way too trusting. She might be young, but not making sure Roberta had to follow through on her promise is odd. Maybe it's the way the actress plays her, but I find the girl annoying. These 'good' girls are portrayed in such a way that makes it nearly impossible for me not to get annoyed. It only really works in fairytales, not in telenovelas because I have to listen to that irritating way they speak.
Sara was soo funny. She is angry at Leo for being Emilia's novio when she herself made him announce it to everyone and got even angrier afterwards.
What possessed Leo to let Roberta manage Mari's money? I kept thinking yesterday that surely they cut a scene or something. Stupid galan is not much of a galan. Mar has no one on her side which makes her navet even worse.
I'm glad Seb left the girl.
What I don't understand is why Mari didn't go to the police even earlier. It doesn't seem like her declaration will help, though, as there are a few acusations.
Thanks, everyone, for dropping by and commenting.
Diana, "Who is Olimpia trying to find?" That is my big question after last night. It was totally unexpected. She was emotional about looking for them which was a surprise to me. I didn't know she had it in her.
Darcy, "Violeta isn't subtle at all.... I wonder what she sees in Rogelio?" I was wondering about that, too. Maybe it is only the promise of a sugar daddy who will buy her lots of things. That is all I can up with.
waterlily, " After all, Honorio could have picked Lucas up but Rogelio insisted Paula had to do it. And you don't look at someone's phone without having serious trust issues." ITA. Rogelio and Paula have some major problems to work through on their own without being saddled with the well being of the whole Iturbide clan. Martina should take control of the Iturbide finances, her check book and move in with Gabriel and let her sons fend for themselves.
Urban, I agree with everything you said about Rogelio. I do not envy him his position. His marriage would be so much better if he didn't have to carry his brothers and mother on his back.
Liz, YES!!! "But I have decided that Fernando married the person he deserved. I can’t believe he told Rogelio they weren’t brothers and Gabriela is his father. That was cruel. He didn’t even do it in a caring manner, he did it to hurt Rogelio." He has always been nasty to Rogelio and I guess this major twist of financial fate did nothing to permanently change his feelings of envy. I, also, am guessing that he is upset that he might actually have to work for a living. Who would want to hire a self-absorbed idiot like him? So that leaves him with his female match: Imelda !!!! with her dreams of being La Monarch dancing through her head. What a useless
pair!
Jarifa , thank you for another excellent report from the comfy couch .
It seems that these writers have decided to keep throwing new stuff into this pot of stone soup to keep us interested instead of the usual rehashing and spinning around and around .
I wonder about the person Olympia is searching for ? Has she ever married ? Did she have a child and gave him or her up for adoption?
Why is Shy Violetta vamping Rog...well , he is tall, dark , and handsome with blue eyes . I think that is enough to spark a maneater's interest. She didn't seem to care a bit that he is married. Maybe she likes a challenge and an adventure . She is just another element of distress for Rog and Paula to deal with . Will Paula get jealous and then turn to sensitive, still smitten surfer dude Uli?
Marco and Blanca seem to be doing the best in this fractured family . Young love .
Igy and Cassandra are quite an odd couple . What will Olympia say when she finds out that they have miraculously found each other ? #beanietime And I can't wait to see a meeting between Eva and Cassy.
Thank you Urban! For all the deets!
While I understand Valetina's feelings, I still feel like she is making decisions for Regina that she shouldn't be making. Regina is capable of coming to her own conclusions - which may very well be that she can't be with Clemente because he's Rut's son, but it's her choice to make. Her sister shouldn't be telling her she has to stay away from Clemente. I doubt very much that Vale would let Regina tell her she had to get away from Santos if the roles were reversed. Then again, with an overbearing mother you learn to be overbearing I'm sure, so she's only doing what comes naturally.
I think Marco is getting suspicious of Adriana, he was looking at her pretty hard when Grim was suggesting they'd met in the city.
Diana, Trejo said the woman who left him left for someone on the other side of the border so I doubt it's Norma. Sounds like she left for the US. I just love the whole 'they are all the same' attitude when he's comparing all women to the 1 women who left him. If one did it, they all do it. But I think human beings in general have a tendency to do that.... we certainly hear that all men are cheaters often enough. I vote for the down fall of generalizations in favor of personal and individual responsibility for all of one's own choices!!
Darcy, thank you for explaining the rest of Trejo's comment. No, then it's not Norma. Of course it was far fetched but it was a fun hypothesis!
"I vote for the down fall of generalizations in favor of personal and individual responsibility for all of one's own choices!!" Hear, hear!
Diana
Susan, you put his better than I ever could: "It seems that these writers have decided to keep throwing new stuff into this pot of stone soup to keep us interested instead of the usual rehashing and spinning around and around ." I think that is why I am not minding this going to 120 episodes. They are throughly entertaining me. .. even with Iggy and Cassandra and a dose of Violeta on the side. :)
Gracias, Jarifa. Fine job.
I thought prison would enlighten Fernando, but he's as foul as ever. Liz, ITA he deserves Imelda.
I'm guessing Rogelio being a married man makes him even more yummy to Violeta. She's so obvious though. I think she'll have to resort to spiking his drink or staging a kiss-attack.
I always said that Fernando was the least intelligent of Martina's sons and the last scene proved that. Saying they weren't brothers because of different fathers? So Martina doesn't count? He deserves a bloody good hiding and I don't care who dishes it out.
Putting Paula's name as the contact was pure malevolence on Imelda's part. The reality is that Paula would not care who sired Rogelio and she knows that Gabriel is a good man. The point here was to create discord not so much between Paula and Rogelio but between Paula and Martina. Fortunately this story isn't moving at a snail's pace so it should not take long for Paula to find out whose credit card was used or get the surveillence video of the transaction. Imelda's hair will stand out like a sore thumb.
