ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #96 Page one

Notes from the couch . . .

1. Rogelio asks what Violeta is doing there. She says she is visiting a friend who is staying at the hotel and invites Rogelio to breakfast. He turns her down and leaves. Imelda has seen it but not necessarily heard it all.

2. Eva is still angry with the jealousy show Fidel put on with Cass. He keeps trying to apologize over and over again. She says all he had to do was trust her but he made up his mind even before he even knew what was happening. He finally begs on his knees telling her that he cannot imagine his life without her and she forgives him.

3. Imelda tells Paula what she saw. Paula knows that Rogelio was at the hotel with Fernando but was unaware that Violeta was there. Imelda says Violeta was talking to Rogelio and had a suitcase. Martina's interest is piqued as she passes by.

4. Paula confronts Rogelio. He says he ran into Violeta as he was leaving teh hotel. it was a coincidence. Paula (and I) cannot believe that Rogelio is so naive as to not realize that Violeta is looking for any excuse to be around him and wants to cause problems between them. He tells Paula to ignore her and tells her one more time (Yawn) how JJ asked him to be patient with Violeta. Paula says SHE doesn't have to be patient though. Martina is eavesdropping and doesn't like what she is hearing.

5. Imelda comes to JJ with an advertising strategy. She wants the company to sponsor a contest on social media, like maybe a trivia context about the state of Michoacán. The winner will get a trip complete with transportation, tours and a hotel stay in Michoacán. She thinks they should talk to the two most popular hotel chains and also to the government tourist office for support. JJ likes the idea.

6. Martina wins another term as the president of the foundation. Beatriz (sore loser) congratulates her and leaves.

7. Rogelio, JJ, Fernando and Ignacio have a meeting about Imelda's proposal. Everyone likes it except for Fernando who says it is an unnecessary expense. Imelda says the government should want to help financially since they are promoting the state of Michoacán. Rogelio offers to talk to the secretary of tourism that he knows.

8. Martina makes a trip to the company and tells Martina to stay out of Rogelio's life. Violeta acts stupid as if she has no idea what Martina is talking about. Martina tells the "little girl" that she doesn't want to play games with her. Nothing will stop her from protecting her family. She has been warned.

9. As soon as Ignacio is out of the meeting, he calls his henchman and tells him arrange meetings ASAP with the secretary of tourism and a Mr. Galván about hotels in Michoacán. Ignacio says even though he returned La Villa to the Iturbides, he has no intention of letting them crawl out of the hole he has put them in.

10. Rogelio tells Honorio that the last money transfer is about to be made to him to finish the rest of the houses in Cuitzeo.

11. Violeta complains to JJ about Martina threatening her. She insists she has done nothing wrong.(Sure) He tells her that he will talk to Rogelio but she needs to cooperate and contact Rogelio only when she needs to because of her work. He doesn't want problems. She storms out.

12. Toro is leaving in three weeks. Chuy gets emotional because Toro ahs been like a father to him.

13. Martina tellsGabriel how badly Beatriz took her becoming president of the foundation again. They have to laugh. She then slips and call him Honorio. Gabriel corrects her. She also wants Gabriel to come live at the Villa with her. He will gladly go wherever she is. She thanks him.

ETERNAMENTE Page two

14. Ignacio asks to see Violeta and wants to know abut her relationship with Rogelio. She tells him that she is only trying to support him but his wife and mother seem to be opposed to that. Rogelio says they are both complicated women. He doesn't know how Rogelio does it trapped between both of them. He lets Violeta know that he supports her in her efforts and that she can count on him for whatever she needs.

15. JJ goes to see Rogelio about Violeta who now thinks they are all against her. His mother threatened her. Rogelio apologizes for Martina BUT Violeta has gotten way too involved in his ronal life and is why his wife is reacting like she is. JJ can understand that and apologizes. He will talk to Violeta. Rogelio can appreciate family problems but he doesn't want any contact with Violeta that is not work related. He tells JJ to control her. JJ says he will and apologizes again.

16. Paula tells Eva abut how sick of the Violeta situation she is. They start looking through a photo album from Paula's childhood. Paula asks how her parents met and Eva suddenly looks stricken and does all she can to change the topic. (Another mystery?)

17. Rogelio calls Paula and asks her out to lunch. He needs to tell her something important and has a surprise for her.

18. Violeta starts trying to get information on Rogelio from the receptionist. She finds out that Paula and Rogelio are considered to be an exemplary couple. They adore each other. Paula works at a music school. Violeta makes up a lie about a friend having a kid that is looking for a music school so she can get the name Paula's school. She starts researching it.

19 Lucas' friend Sarita is not coming to visit him. Regina is happy because she didn't want to meet her any way. Yes, she will come over for "Lucas'" (more like Micaela's) pozole.

20. Fernando tells Rogelio that they have a problem. None of their providers have the parts they need to repair their buses. He doesn't believe them. Rogelio admits it sounds strange. Rogelio asks how his rapid messenger service is going. Fernando informs him that nobody wants to trust him. He thinks Ignacio is behind it. Rogelio can't see how sabotaging his own company would make sense to Ignacio. Fernando disagrees saying that Ignacio's favorite hobby is aggravating them. He tells Rogelio one more time that he never should have brought him back. Rogelio insists that it is still better to have him close. (YAWN)

21. Rogelio calls Cass. He wants them to have supper together.

22. Regina thinks that her father needs a novia. He says she'll be the first one to know if Cupid attacks. She wonders if a man could fall in love with pregnant woman. He smiles.

23. Paula and Rogelio meet for lunch. He wanted to tell her about his mother telling Violeta off. Paula laughs wishing she had a recording of theta. The talk goes on to his conversation with JJ about Violeta. Paula finally stops him and she makes it clear she doesn't want to waste more time talking about her. A man appears at the table. He is the surprise. He is a famous and well-recognized music producer that Rogelio ahs contracted to work with Paula. She is excited.

24. The music school has closed for the day. Cecilia is in the washroom. She goes to leave and the door knob comes off in her hand. She calls for help. Nobody is there. She calls Ignacio. She slumps to the floor in pain.

24. Rogelio is in Ignacio's office telling him that he feels like Ignacio is boycotting them. The conversation doesn't get far because of Ceilia's call.

ETERNAMENTE Page three

25. Rogelio drives Ignacio to the music school where Ignacio breaks open the door and calls the doctor as Rogelio carries Cecilia out. After they get Cecilia to the hospital, Rogelio calls Paula who is coming to the hospital ASAP.

26. A nurse asks Ignacio if he wants to be present for the birth of his child. Ignacio hesitates but Rogelio tells him to go because it will be the best experience of his life. After Ignacio goes, Rogelio remembers his parents showing him his new baby brother. He was not happy he had arrived because he was going to take his things and fight with him. His father told him that although brothers may fight, they always solve their problems. Martina asked him what he thought they should name the baby. Rogelio said Fernando and that is how Fernando got his name.

27. Cecilia give birth to a baby boy.

28. Cass sits waiting for Ignacio at home. Her call si sent to voice mail.

29. Rogelio is in bed with Paula talking about how they need to concentrate on their own relationship without all of the issues outside of that relationship affecting it. They talks about eh joy they felt when Jazz was born. This idyllic moment is spoiled by a text from Violeta. Rogelio deletes it but Paula noticed and she has had it. Rogelio wimps out by saying he doesn't know what to do. Paula has no problem with that. She knows what he needs to do: FIRE VIOLETA.

30. The next morning Cass discovers ignacio exhausted on the couch. He announces he is a father. She says she knows because he called her at 3:00 a.m. He apologizes that he didn't come earlier but this was all unexpected. Cass says no worries. They will talk later.

31. Paula is out in the park with Jazz. The doctor who assisted Martina before is in the park again doing his rounds. He asks Paula how her mother-in-law is doing. Paula says fine. The doctor says that her mother-in-law seemed to be having problem before she arrived. She thought that he was somebody called Rogelio and claimed that somebody had left the baby behind. She didn't recognize her. Paula looks concerned. The doctor hopes that her mother-in-law is doing better but he recommends that somebody accompanies her. Paula thanks him.

32. Fidel has bad news for Ignacio and Rogelio. Fernando beat them to the punch. It looks like the hotel owners are backing Ignacio's project and not theirs. Rogelio is surprised but Fernando isn't.

33. Paula marches into Martinas room unannounced. She demands the truth. She has found out that when Martina was in the park the other day that she thought a man was Rogelio. What is going on with her?

That is it for me. Please feel free to add anythingI left out. Please excuse any typos.

I'll get some highlights up for #28. I won't be home for a few hours so expect them later today.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, you guided us seamlessly through a gamut of emotions and events tonight; your insight was illuminating. Another marvelous read.

“she will come over for "Lucas'" (more like Micaela's) pozole” had me smiling away.

“Paula (and I) cannot believe that Rogelio is so naive as to not realize that Violeta is looking for any excuse to be around him and wants to cause problems between them”. Perfectly stated. I stand with both of you…

The wheels on the bus go round and round but (Paula) “knows what he needs to do: FIRE VIOLETA”. Hallelujah! FINALLY!

Forgiveness for sweet Fidel. FINALLY!

Ignacio was given the experience of a lifetime in being present for his son’s birth. Although seemingly moved, was it the epiphany he so sorely needs? If this is not the catalyst for him to change, whatever will be?

Although her memory is failing fast, Martina continues to confront trouble (Violeta with a capital “V”). No shrinking violet she (so to speak).

Imelda is hitting the ground running. A creative idea well received. And stolen even faster.

“Toro is leaving in three weeks. Chuy gets emotional because Toro has been like a father to him”. Soft hearted Chuy never fails to move me. I wish a happy future for this bright, kind, sensitive character.

Eternamente #96

Great work, Jarifa.

Violetta deserves a good thrashing; kudos to Martina for her effort. My guess is that Vi will go over the edge shortly. Paula needs to talk to JJ because that is likely to be the only way to get her out of that office. However that will not stop her. If both she and Rogelio block her phone number and email address she'll just get herself a burner phone. We know how Violetta will choose to interpret JJ's words about the women in Rogelio's life.

I doubt that Ignacio will change and now that he and Vi have talked within our view we know that there will be more trouble to come both on the business and the home front.

Re Toro: Emphysema is a tough disease. Sadly, there is no cure for it. Toro looks too young to die and Chuy already misses him.

My mother was diagnosed with it when she was in hospital for her first cancer surgery. She had a frightening smoker's hack for years. It would have gotten her eventually if the cancer hadn't beaten it.

Jarifa, thank you so much for capturing every moment as the pot bubbles and boils.

Of course, Ceci gets trapped in the bathroom and Rog and and Igy have to rescue her . ( That happened to me at a wedding , but it was a guy named Louie who rescued me.) I was impressed with Rog effortlessly carrying both Ceci and the fake baby bump down those stairs. (Autocorrect turns Rog into either Dog or Fog....it's not wrong.)

About Violeta....What is wrong with this chick . This girl has real mental issues. I was happy Martina gave her a talk.

I can't believe the writers decided to Give sweet Toro emphysema .

eternamente
I know someone said Rogelio doesn't take Violeta seriously, but damn it, would it kill him to listen to what his wife says? Now his mother had to intervene because her dear boy doesn't think that Paula is right because it's only right and correct when Rogelio thinks so. What an annoying galan.
Isn'tMorelia supposed to be the kind of place where everyone believes all kinds of nonsense? I somehow didn't expect Martina to win the post. I suppose traditions matter more than anything.
Rogelio can pay dearly for his reluctance to do something. And he desrves what's coming for being naive and stupid and ignoring Paula. Now he 'doesn't know what to do5'. That talk is a little too late because JJ doesn't realise the extent of his niece's obsession. I wonder what Violeta thought her uncle would say? That he knows she is an angel and he won't let Martina come anywhere near her? To be honest, it's frustrating to see that even Rog's mum has to get involved because he didn't put a stop to this earlier. Isn't he oh such an adult big boy?
Ignacio frustrates me to no end. I kind of wonder how he'd feel if he managed to ruin their business. I mean, when would he be satisfied? Because Fernando did seem to love him as a brother and this wasn't enough for him. He got the house but wasn't happy either.
What is the point of Rogelio's plan here in terms of his character development? Is he supposed to have failed? Or is he again right? Because if Ignacio keeps ruining all theirprojects and Rogelio keeps acting as if he is a total beginner in this situation, this can only end badly.
Why is the topic of alzheimers so popular in telenovelas nowadays? I went to see a play and it was also about this illness.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, I am glad you got away for a bit. You so deserve it!!

"Autocorrect turns Rog into either Dog or Fog....it's not wrong.)" I just laughed out loud, too funny Susan!!

Minas de Pasión - #28 Highlights - Part 1/2

Tigre and Mau wake up. They're worried about Emi. Mau, who as we know doesn't have a brain, REMOVES the planks that were stuck on his feet, causing A LOT of blood to drop. He then proceeds to try to put pressure on the wound with his hands. Uh, bro, that's what the planks did... You shouldn't have removed them...

Roberta is celebrating her "victory" with Fidel. That perra has planned that she'll blame Leo, HER OWN SON, so she gets away with it. She's going to say that HE was the one who ordered the miners to dig too deep. She's all smiley until Ramiro comes in and tells her that Leo and the others are trying to rescue them and they should pray they do because Mauricio was inside. Roberta is all ¿QUÉ? That wasn't the plan!

After a while, Emi of course wakes up. Mau is getting worse and worse. He begs her to forgive him for everything he's done. She doesn't really reply at first, but after Mau insists, she says she forgives him from the bottom of her heart. Mau smiles and dies right there.

Seb, the sweety pie, lets Míriam stay with him. Míriam says "if only I had met you sooner"... He replies his heart belongs to Emi.

Leo and the miners try to save the trapped. They dig inside of the mines, but Leo says they have to dig from above. They go above.

Zaira and Marijó are cooking using the same sponsored milk (at least they're consistent). Zaira says she has a bad feeling. She calls Tigre, but someone else answers and tells her what happened.

Sara arrives and Leo informs her of the situation. She tells Roberta she knows her and is sure SHE is the one responsible for this. Roberta says not to go tell the police about it, because SHE has a lot of benefits from the collapse too. (So she's threatening her: if she goes to the police, Roberta will say it was her.)

Zaira, Gael and Marijó are also there. I have to say, I love Cynthia's acting.

Adalberto orders Ezequiel to beat Seb up.

There's some progress above. Roberta starts screaming that she wants Mau out. Fidel tells Adalberto that la Cueva del Diablo will go to Mau and Nico if Emi dies. (I assume it'll go to Mau too because Nico is a kid.)

They bring Emi out. She tries to tell Leo about Mau's death, but faints before she can finish her sentence. Roberta screams to Leo to leave that estupida and go look for his brother. Zaira and Gael beg Leo to get Tigre out first. Marijó goes with Emi in the ambulance .

They get Mau out first, who's dead. Roberta is refusing to believe this, she tells Mau to talk to her. Everyone else bends and stays silent, to honour the dead. It takes a while for Rob to believe he's dead. She's even crying! Wow! I thought she had no feelings!

Leo tries to make her feel better and Rob does the most horrible thing she could have done: she says "I wish you died instead of him". Leo doesn't say anything, just turns around and goes to the miners. He looks sad and angry at the same time. Logical.

Emi says something about Nico and her heart beats drop.

Zaira begs Leo to get Tigre out. Rob says they shouldn't (!!!) They of course don't listen to her.

Minas de Pasión - #28 Highlights - Part 2/2

Adalberto's thugs beat Seb. Míriam tries to stop them but she is stopped by the other thugs. Later, Seb asks her who the heck was her boyfriend. She admits he was Adalberto Quintana. Seb looks shocked. Míriam cries and says everything was her fault and mentions some sister of hers who needed money. Seb says he won't let her go. Míriam hugs him and thanks him.

Sara goes to see Danilo, who's busy packing his bags and not responding to Adalberto (I think he pretty much scammed him.) Sara comes with a bottle of wine (tbh she already looks drunk). She kisses him and tells him about maybe getting convicted of something she didn't do. She sees the bags and asks them about it. He makes an excuse and they start to do what they did a couple of episodes ago.

Seb goes to Orlando to tell him about the thugs. Fidel pops up and tells Orlando what happened. Seb, who was listening to this, leaves to find Emi. Fidel pretty much tells Orlando to cover up for him and Roberta.

Seb, I think, tells the secretary about the accident.

Leo is at hospital. The doctor says Emi had internal bleeding and her situation is delicate. And something else will complicate things: her pregnancy. Leo is shocked and the doctor adds that she's 5 weeks pregnant.

The secretary, Lolita, goes to see Tigre. She's rather... intimate with him, she's a bit too close to him. Tigre is awake, but has his eyes closed I think. Zaira comes in and sees this. Oops.

Emi is asleep. Roberta holds her hand and says she'll go to hell and she'll help her go there. She holds a syringe. Uh oh.

And we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Eternamente #96

Rogelio probably thinks he's walking on eggshells around JJ. He knows his mother's level of interference in things and might think he's running into it with JJ. After JJ's comment to nasty little Vi about Rogelio being in between two "complicated" women we all know that Vi will interpret that as she wants to, convincing herself that she will be "saving" him from two women who henpeck him. She does not know -- and if she finds it out she will refuse to believe -- that Martina is now an Alzheimer's case and cannot do so credibly. Paula does not nag Rogelio except to try to get him to recognize Vi's obsession.

She's a potential Bunny Boiler or Anne Wilkes of Misery. We can only hope that the writers won't go there although they have just enough time for that.

Ignacio isn't much of a mystery to me. It's evident that Irma was mentally ill and that it must have been an escalating situation. She married an abusive man which wrecked Ignacio's childhood. Many people never get over the level of abuse he endured. He killed his stepfather in self-defense and he should be angry that he did time for that (He shouldn't have).

He still seems ignorant of the fact that it was Irma who guaranteed that he had missed out on the recognition and inheritance that Hipolito intended for him. Had he thought it through when Imelda handed him the letter he could have figured that out. However it's likely that Irma isolated him from a lot of aspects of normal life so he has very little awareness of what is and isn't normal. He has no friends so he may not understand anything about it. It was obvious to us that Martina didn't know that Hipolito cheated on her and therefore neither she nor her sons knew of his existence. Yet he still believes that they maliciously intended to withhold his rightful inheritance from him. He is unlikely to see the forest for the trees and doesn't see that his intentions could only score him a Pyrric victory. What was so great about the villa without family living with him or friends to entertain in it?

Minas
I don't get why Sara said she might go to jail. What has she done? Or rather, who is going to frame her? Roberta already said there's Leo's signature authorising the papers that let them dig deeper in that mine. Or is she also going to acuse Sara of this? Someone said Seb isn't galan material. It doesn't appar that's the case. He is more of a galan to me than Leo is. Besides, Leo has his mummy dearest and it will take many episodes for him to stop repeating 'but she's my mother' when it comes to picking between Emilia and Roberta. I accidentally saw something that makes me think he is like Rogelio in that sense and I despise Rogelio. Well, I guess we'll see.
I love Roberta's logic, though. 'I will make Emilia pay for causing your death'. She 'made me kill Ignacio'. Is Roberta supposed to die in the mine in the end?
Poor Sebas is in danger for trying to be a good person. Sara wasn't wrong when she said his kindness gets him in trouble.
Why is Mauricio Roberta's favourite but she insults him at every turn? He is no 'golden child' in terms of inteligence. But now that he is gone, things won't improve. I didn't expect him to die so soon. It is a pity because he realised it was a trap. I don't know if I could bear it if we have to spend the rest of the episodes hearing Leo's 'she is my mother' refrain. I hope they won't make him gullable. It was bad enough when he kept saying 'my mother wants to get along' to Emi. There's something about these kinds of relationships in telenovelas that drives me up the wall, especially if they really push them to a certain limit when in another telenovela it's shown as unhealthy but the guy is actually bad and no galan. I mean, it's bad either way but it makes galans look either stupid or naive.

Thank you Jarifa for your always awesome notes from the couch! I haven’t watched but I did read your recap so I know I am caught up!

Reading how Rogelio took Ignacio to Cecilia my first thought was maybe helping save his son will earn Rogelio some good will in Ignacio’s eyes, but I suppose we are too late for that.

I am looking forward to watching Martina tell Vi off when I get the opportunity to watch!! So glad Paula ran into the doctor and got informed about Martina!!!

Eternamente

That was excellent, Jarifa, thanks so much. You put in so many details!

Rogelio is so frustrating-and I’m not married to him! But Ignacio describing Paula as complicated was way off. She’s the most open person in this telenovela.

I guess Violeta set up the hotel thing, but she should have had the guy call Paula! I guess she’s afraid to face her and decided Imelda would just hide and not confront her. But would go tell Paula. I guess Imelda didn’t know the brothers spent the night together. But now Violeta has Ignacio on her side.

I don’t think Ignacio is going to change. And Cassandra will soon figure out what he’s really like and run for the hills.

Ignacio already ruined their business once, I guess he’s going to try again!

Some fun scenes were Lucas on the phone while Micaela and Honorio listen and exchange looks. I hope they end up together. And Regina trying to pair her dad up-wondering if one can fall in love with a pregnant woman.

I was impressed with Rogelio carrying Cecilia down those stairs! And finding a music producer for Paula. But I am afraid Fernando might be right about Ignacio working with them.

Liz

Minas #28

Thanks, Weirdo. After a death on Tierra this was a double shock, knowing that this death was so early in the game.

However, he did rape Emilia and he had to die for that eventually. There was no way he would ever have gone to a shrink. Even had he been willing, Roberta would have prevented it.

As the Scapegoat child of a narcissistic mother I can explain Roberta's choice of Golden child. Mauricio was the weaker of her two sons both in intelligence and in force of will. Therefore she could control him. Had her plan worked Mauricio would have sued for custody of Nico and won, with or without Roberta pulling the puppet strings. She would have taken over the reins of Nico's upbringing and made him just like Mauricio to the degree possible. He would probably acquire some of her sense of entitlement after a period of her brainwashing but this would be a harder job since Nico is old enough to have memories of Emilia and Tigre. I think Leo was a couple of years older than Nico is now when his bio dad died and he had Ignacio as a father figure.

Leo has empathy and normal emotions. Roberta can't stand this because she wanted him to be as cold-blooded and greedy as she is. Her insults thrown at Mauricio are often perceived by narcissists as "motivational" toward "improvement." They only ever satisfy the narcissistic bully during their utterance. Even if they work at all they fail in the long term because the narcissist keeps moving the goal posts. They are never satisfied.

Roberta has no conscience and while I hope someone catches her with that syringe I know just as well that we have 79 more episodes to go.

Addled-berto is an idiot and I can't wait to see what revenge Gigi comes up with.

MINAS

Weirdo, your powers of observation shone brightly last night. How powerfully you relayed every mind-numbing event and (mainly) vile word uttered. This was such a grim episode and you explained much that I missed and/or didn’t understand.

Thank you for “Seb, the sweety pie”, a light moment in a sea of darkness.

So “that perra has planned that she’ll blame Leo, HER OWN SON” was stupefying in and of itself. But reading that Roberta told Leo "I wish you died instead of him" was horrifying beyond belief. But wait! Roberta’s not done! Now she is planning to murder Emilia in cold blood. With these horrific acts, Roberta has propelled herself into true heinous villain territory.

Thank you for “Sara goes to see Danilo, who's busy packing his bags and not responding to Adalberto (I think he pretty much scammed him.)” Casting furtive glances and looking guilty as hell, it was clear he was leaving but I wasn’t sure what he had done.

“Fidel pretty much tells Orlando to cover up for him and Roberta”. Par for the course.

Sebas still loves Emilia but sadly STILL doesn’t seem to realize he doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell.

I have a bad feeling about Tigre…

I hope Emilia doesn’t lose the baby! Did we know she was pregnant or did I miss that too? ☹

Minas

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Waterlily, I think Sara is afraid of Roberta framing her. She doesn't know she has already framed Leo and after the threat she thinks she'll do it. But I don't really think so.

Yes, her logic sure is something. I had forgotten about that morgue scene, in which she said "I wanted your life to be better than mine" and then that it's Emi's fault. Truly WTF.

Urban, I'm sorry you had to live this. Yes, I also think Mau is her favourite because she can manipulate him. A great observation.

Diana, "With these horrific acts, Roberta has propelled herself into true heinous villain territory." Exactly. Was she made so unlikable because some people liked the OG villain? Or is it just a change they made? I wonder... The only thing for sure is that no one can like Roberta.

No, we didn't know Emi was pregnant previously. Leo didn't know and I assume she didn't as well. This is the first episode a pregnancy was mentioned, IIRC.

ETERNAMENTE

Wow! Things just keep percolating along. I like that.

Diana, I was so happy that Paula FINALLY declared what the Violeta solution would be as Rogelio hemmed and hawed not wanting to offend JJ. It was about time. Marcus Ornellas has mastered that almost sheepish look of Rogelio's any time he tells Paula to basically "calm down" about the Violeta situation and how JJ is so about sensitive about her. That look shows that he realizes what a line he is feeding her.

Urban I enjoyed reading your analyses of the characters. Ignacio could be a PSA for what happens to children when they are abused and how some victims never are able to get beyond it. I liked how they have spent time exploring all of the nuances of the character rather than making him into a one dimensional threat.

Susan, thanks for sharing your story about being locked in a bathroom. Yikes. As for Cecilia, it was realistic in the sense that when there is an emergency, whatever can go wrong usually does go wrong.

Darcy, glad that the notes are useful. You will love Martina giving Violeta a what for. She doesn't miss a beat and Violeta doesn't know what hit her. Martina's eye brow was high and arched. My mother had an eyebrow like that and what ever the issue was, you knew it wasn't going to be a pleasant encounter.

Liz, "Some fun scenes were Lucas on the phone while Micaela and Honorio listen and exchange looks. I hope they end up together. And Regina trying to pair her dad up-wondering if one can fall in love with a pregnant woman. " Thanks for reminding us about the funny scenes. They do give us a welcome respite from the "drama". I keep hoping that Micaela ends up with Honorio, too. Stranger things have happened . . . evening this novela!! ; )

Minas,

Weirdo, wowee wow!! What an episode of doom drama. Your recap was spectacular . Thank you so much .

I had to look away when Mau 's blood was spurting . It looked like a shard of wood went through his upper thigh. Yikes. A body ending for Mau.

Yikes , Mau dies. Emi is in the hospital ...and pregnant .( She is evidently very fertile.) Tiger is back in the hospital . Seb is beaten up and now shackled to sad , pregnant Miriam .

Rob is a monster beyond redemption .

Danilo is about to leave town after fleecing Addled ...A bright spot in an otherwise dark episode .Sara shows up for more of Danilo's charms . I still can't believe how different this actor looks from the swimmer guy he played in " Camino.")

So...where are the writers taking us from here???? I am fascinated .

Thanks Susan!

"Rob is a monster beyond redemption" absolutely. What a horrible person.

"Danilo is about to leave town after fleecing Addled ...A bright spot in an otherwise dark episode " was funny and spot on!

If they follow the original timeline, this will only get better ;)

A few fashion side notes . I have never understood the cold shoulder look . That sweater that Miriam had on in this episode had a turtleneck and long sleeves with the shoulders exposed . Que? If it's that cold , dont your shoulders get cold , too?

Also, I have hated everything that Sara has worn ,including last night's aqua pants and matching vest . Stewardess ?

Minas

Another thought about this show and other telenovelas, as in real life, the strong and responsible are left to repair and rescue what the weak and evil cause . Leo was calm , intelligent , and in charge last night in figuring out how to rescue and help those injured miners. God bless all the real life heroes like Leo. Mr. Rogers used to tell children " When bad things happen, look for the helpers."

Urban ,you gave an excellent analysis of Igy. I wonder how the writers decided to end his storyline . I don't see how he will survive , He is a tragic figure.

TIERRA

Urban, I am not sure if you are planning on/are able to do a recap so not sure if I should note last night's main, tragic event?

I didn't take notes, but there are a few things I can mention.

What a horror show....

Gracias, Jarifa. You are doing amazing work covering all the shenanigans.

I still like Rogelio, so it hurts to see him so STUPID about Violeta. How about telling JJ to transfer her to someone else because he's not a babysitter.

Violeta has done nothing to contribute to the betterment of the business, but here is Imelda actually coming up with a good idea.

I loved Martina going after Violeta. More please.

I could not last night because I have Monday night commitments. Unfortunately, the Widipedia page is not correct on the order of events of the most recent half dozen episodes. Just the highlights would be enough.

I will be leaving for the opera in a few minutes and will do tonight's episode in the morning.

Niecie, thanks. ITA with "I still like Rogelio, so it hurts to see him so STUPID about Violeta. How about telling JJ to transfer her to someone else because he's not a babysitter." Like it!

TIERRA TINYCAP

A night of terror and unbearable sorrow.

We had previously seen Esteban confronting Rut, righteously livid about his raping Bernarda as well as his financial frauds and dirty dealings.

We see Esteban walking home but he is not alone. There is someone shadowing him, in blue pants and black shoes, a huge machete dangling from hands. Esteban senses the evil presence and turns. There is a light of recognition but no name is uttered. With utter savagery, the machete is swung and Esteban suffers a terrible and fatal blow to his neck. Sadly, it seems he does not seem to die immediately, but mercifully does a moment or so later.

Meanwhile, Maria Teresa is waiting for Esteban to return. Her concern quickly escalates to worry and then, grave alarm. Everyone is out looking for him but to no avail.

Santos drives to where Clemente is staying with Camila. As he pulls up, Norma leaves but she sees him and makes a note of it. Clemente and Camila unpack a few boxes from his flatbed.

Remedios gets a very bad premonition and frets (rightly so) throughout the episode.

The search is on for Esteban…Santos is stopped and having nothing to hide, slides easily out of the car, keys in hand. Trejo is there and Rutilio just “happens” to show up. When the tarp is pulled back, we see Esteban’s mutilated body! Santos of course is shocked and bereaved.

Despite tears and denial, the evidence seemingly overwhelming, Santos is arrested.

Rut and Marco meet and I believe Rut seems to infer that Marco might have been responsible although it was a fortuitous time as he is now off the hook. Whether this was an honest reaction or done simply to reflect suspicion from him I cannot say.

Rut and his posse show up at Maria Teresa’s where the depraved sadist likely takes delight in telling her that her father is dead. Murdered.

Maria Teresa is naturally devastated and inconsolable.

She goes to the jail to confront Santos, her fury palpable. She starts to verbally berate and condemn him. He is crying and saying he could never, ever hurt his padrino! For a brief moment, they lock eyes and Maria Teresa appears to have a moment of doubt. He tells her he is innocent.

My best recollection, please add to or correct….

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #97 Page one

Notes from the couch . . .

All I could ask myself was who do I hate more: Fernando or Violeta? They are both miserable people just for different reasons.

1. Paula tells Martina what the doctor in the park said. Martina thinks he is exaggerating but finally admits she had a TIA (mini stroke) but it is over and she is out of danger. They are going to do more tests. She doesn't want Paula to tell her sons about her health problem. Paula agrees but only if Martina allows her to accompany her to her doctor appointments and do what the doctor says. Reluctantly Martina agrees but has to laugh when Paula makes her do a pinky swear.

2. Fernando confronts Ignacio about going behind their backs to get his version of Imelda's project approved by the hoteliers for his company. Ignacio reminds him he has been hired on only as an advisor and as such he is not part of the company or of the family for that matter. So, he is free to do what he wants.

3. Andrea and Luis get together and discuss their relationship. They both agree that they want a family with the other but he sees that happening in LA and she wants to stay in Mexico City to reach the goals she has planned out for herself. They both think that they have some serious thinking to do.

4. Beatriz doesn't attend the next meeting with the foundation. A member tells Martina that Beatriz was angry because they didn't vote for her. Martina assures them that she will take care of Beatriz.

TWO WEEKS LATER

5. Rogelio has Jazz in his arms and tells her how he doesn't know what he would do without her, her mother, and her marvelous brother. The problem is that Rogelio doesn't know that Lucas is standing by the doorway and leaves before he hears that he is included.

6. Melitón sees a rat headed to Martina's green house. Rather than kill the rat himself, he sends Felipa. She emerges from her showdown with the rat on a shovel and a plant she obliterated in her attempt to kill the rat. She chases Melitón around teasing him with the dead rat.

7. The next day, Rogelio wishes Lucas a good first day of school but Lucas is disappointed when he learns that Rogelio is too busy take him to school and that Melitón will. Rogelio says they can have dinner together. Paula appears andd takes Lucas to school. Rogelio notices that Lucas looks sad.

ETERNAMENTE Page two

8. Imelda tells Fernando she is going to meet with JJ to present another idea that she has. He doesn't see any success for her at the company. He doesn't doubt her talent but tries to dissuade her. She is working with a group of "old sea wolves." Right now she happens to be the shiny new thing. Imelda insists that she is not going to give in and she will show him that she can compete with the likes of Ignacio. He is not convinced.

9. Felipa tries tell Martina about the broken pot and plant from her greenhouse and about her rat adventure but Martina is having none of it . She is focused on two new cribs she presents to Felipa and and Melitón.

10. Cass is visiting Eva. Seeing Cass' ring, Eva asks how married life is. Cass explains that the ring doesn't mean that she is married but even if it ddi, things are going well. Cass starts to talks about Ignacio wanting to be a good father when Cecilia arrives. She is surprised and wants to know where Eva add Cass know each other from. Eva tells her to sit down, they are going to chat.

11. Martina tries to talk Paula about of going to the doctor with her. Paula has to remind her of their agreement. They leave arm in arm. Paula will drive.

12, It sounds like Eva didn't get very far talking about her life when she met Cass. "Some things are better left unsaid." Cass tells Cecilia that she has no intention of interfering in her relationship with Ignacio but that Cecilia needs to repair her relationship with Ignacio for teh good of her child. Cass is not bothered that Ignacio has a son. As a matter of fact, it makes her love Ignacio more.

13. Fidel tells Rogelio that he got the results of the investigation of the sabotage of the buses and there was no conclusion. The investigation will continue. Rogelio remembers Paula wondering if the journalist was a plant on the bus. Fidel will talk to her.

14. Rogelio realizes he is double booked and he cannot take Lucas out for dinner. He contacts Paula and she will do it.

15. Felipa and Meliton are moved to tears with the gift of the cradles from Martina. Melitón now decides he will probably have to get a second job like a night watchman so he can earn enough money to cover the delivery of the twins. Honorio tells him he will pay for the delivery. It will be his gift to the twins.

16. Martina is at her visit with the doctor accompanied by Paula. The doctor is increasing her medication. She doesn't necessarily like that. There are no new results from her tests as of yet. He thinks it is a good idea that she is coming with another person to her appointments. Martina doesn't like that comment and makes it clear that she is in charge of her own life and health. Nobody will be making any decisions for her. She also voices how she doesn't want her sons to know anything about her health. She has just "old peoples' problems." That's all.

17. JJ tells Imelda how impressed he is with her work. He wants to continue the meeting but over a meal. Imelda suggests a place nearby.

ETERNAMENTE Page three

18. Paula picks up Lucas and Regina. She tells him that his dad couldn't come. He isn't surprised.

19. Imelda and JJ go out to eat where they discuss her work. She admits to liking working since she hadn't for quite some time. She feels like she has to make up for lost time. JJ thinks she is doing very well. He also thinks that Fernando won the lottery marrying her. Fernando calls her while they are eating . He is angry because she is meeting at a restaurant with JJ but quickly adds that she has to let him know when she isn't going to be with the kids so he can tweak his schedule. (Right . . . )

20. Beatriz tells Martina she isn't angry. She left th first meeting early because she didn't agree and missed the next one because she had other things to do. Martina tells her she can always quit. Beatriz says no way is she ceding her place to anyone else. She will stay informed about everything that is going on. Martina suggests that she think about some new ways to raise money. Beatriz says she already has some ideas.

21. Fernando confronts JJ about taking HIS wife out to eat. JJ asks him why he is like he is??? JJ says it was a working meeting. Fernando says he is no fool. He has realized that JJ likes his wife. JJ says he admires Imelda because she has a lot of talent. He is only supporting Imelda to be successful at the company. JJ finds it odd that Fernando doesn't realize how qualified his own wife is and how much she can help the company. He adds that JJ should stop looking for something that isn't there.

22. Lucas tells Regina that he is sad because his dad cancelled their hamburger dinner again.

23. Micaela asks Martina if she wants a piece of fruit. Martina seems confused by the request. She finally answers no and thanks "Josefina."

24. Rogelio, Fernando, Fidel and JJ meet. Rogelio has good news. Their cost reduction plan is working. Fidel says that the number of passengers is up quite a bit. Rogelio wants a copy of everything to send to Ignacio. Fernando goes berserk. WHY??? he whines. Rogelio wants Ignacio to know that in spite of all of the bad press, they have good earnings.

25. Back at home, it is evening and Lucas is complaining that his dad is never around. He thinks that his work is more important to him than his own son. Paula explains to him that his father has a lot of work and responsibilities. Lucas agrees but says that doesn't give him the right to forget about them. Paula tells him that he doesn't. Lucas disagrees saying he never gets any messages from him. Paula reminds him that he doesn't have a cellphone so where is his father supposed to send the messages. She answers her own question: hHs father sends them to her. She shows Lucas all of the texts that Rogelio has sent her asking about him.

ETERNAMENTE Page four

26. Lucas wakes up the next morning in Rogelio's arms. Rogelio is still in his work clothes. He asks Lucas to tell Paula that he was in his bed all night so she won't think he was out partying. He does and the whole family hugs each other.

27. Ceciia gets a ton of gifts from "Ignacio". She calls him to thank him. He has no idea what she is talking about but lies and says his son deserves them.

28. When eating with Cass, Ignacio guesses it was she who sent the gifts in his name. He has guessed correctly. He asks if she would like to have a baby with him. Cass smiles and asks what does he think?

29. Fidel talks with the mysterious journalist who just happened to be on the bus that broke down. She admits she was not on the bus by chance but ethics will not allow her to tell him who sent her. That is fine by Fidel.

30. Gabriel wants to take Martina out to buy a wedding dress and then for a surprise for her. They also schedule their wedding in two weeks. He reminds her to tell her sons that he is moving into La Villa.

31. Rogelio tells Marco that effective today day he is the new head of the maintenance department. Their dad would be proud of him.

32. Violeta tells a friend all about Rogelio. He is so tall, so good looking and has good personality. Her friend reminds her he is married with kids. Violeta doesn't care. He is the man of her dreams and all is fair in love. She feels that she has an edge on Paula with her looks, her daring attitude, her sensuality, and her age. May the best woman win!

33. Ricardo goes to see Cecilia and the baby. He brings a "time capsule" gift which has music samples he sampled from this year and news articles so that the baby will know what the world was like the he was born. He asks if he can hold the baby. Cecilia says yes. There is a knock on the door and it is Ignacio. He sees Ricardo with the baby and stares.

34. Blanca has stopped by the company to take Marco out to lunch.

35. Violeta slithers into Rogelio's office. She needs his signature several documents and insists on waiting. Rogelio finishes signing. As he hands her the documents., she starts to put the moves on him running her hand down his arm. He says she is not acting correctly. She doesn't care because he is driving her crazy. She cannot keep pretending. He gets up and tries to move away from her. He tells her the only reason he hasn't taken any disciplinary measures against her is because she is JJ's niece. Violeta says she loves him hopelessly and she doesn't mind sharing him with his wife. He walks over to the door and opens it wide for her. She quickly grabs him around the neck and kisses him hard for as long as she can as he grabs her around the waist and tries to push her away. Marco and Blanca get an eyeful.

That is it for me. Please add anything I left out. Sorry about any typos.

Susan, "Another thought about this show and other telenovelas, as in real life, the strong and responsible are left to repair and rescue what the weak and evil cause" was very wise.

Today is my most busy day of the week. If anyone can do highlights or a recap I'd be grateful, otherwise I'll post the fused Wikipedia and Univisión highlights.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, night after night, week after week, you have created sensational recaps for us. Tonight was reflective of your incredible ability to summarize and analyze, hitting every high and low to perfection.

Rather than simply shying away and not returning Vi’s fervent kiss, Rogelio should immediately have removed her arms from his neck, stepped back and walked away. Of course Blanca and Marco are under the erroneous assumption Rogelio was fully invested in the kiss. NOW will he FINALLY fire her???

Ignacio “asks if she would like to have a baby with him. Cass smiles and asks what does he think?” Well, I’ll tell you what I think. ☹ Thus far, Ignacio has spent only a few short minutes with his newly born son. I might suggest he try a few additional adventures in babysitting first including changing a few diapers, mop up some drool and cope with nonstop crying for hours on end.

I loved Ricardo’s “time capsule” gift! How creative and thoughtful. He isn’t a man one would necessarily dream of but he seems kind and considerate.

I also liked Cass’s basket o’ books. Still, Ignacio and Cass’s relationship at this point in time makes me a bit uncomfortable. That said, likely not nearly as uncomfortable as it must be making Cecilia. She handled the Cass/Eva situation with poise as well and I give her credit. All of this can’t be easy.

Ricardo, picking up the baby seconds before Ignacio’s unannounced arrival seems par for the course. This is going to be a pivotal test. Will Ignacio scream, rant and rave or shock Cecilia (and us) by being calm and civilized?

“Nobody will be making any decisions for her. She also voices how she doesn't want her sons to know anything about her health. She has just "old peoples' problems." Yeah, that’s the ticket! NOT!! Martina is in denial.

Felipa and Meliton never fail to make me smile; the two cribs were adorable.

MINAS TINYCAP Part 1

Roberta is going to inject Emilia with a hypodermic needle containing only heaves knows what when Leo arrives. She manages to insert it into her purse instead with Leo none the wiser.

Sebas offers Emilia his always unfailing support. When he leaves for few minutes, Leo returns, giving Emilia comfort and love. Sebas returns to find Leo curled up next to Emilia on her hospital bed. His face falls. He recalls a long-ago scene where he was with Emilia and baby Nico. She insisted on giving him a necklace, putting it in his hands despite his protests. Back to the present, he removes it from his neck and places it on Emilia’s bed stand.

Emilia awakens and asks where she is. Leo explains and later tells her she is pregnant.

Elsewhere, Orlando tells Jennifer that Mau is dead.

One of the villagers torments Nico about his father’s funeral. A stunned Nico asks Gael and Marijo if it’s true – is his father dead?? After he hears the answer, a distraught Nico runs away. Are you happy Marijo asks the gossipy woman? They manage to track him down and console him, Marijo telling him that her father died as well.

Roberta is with a doctor, a vial of clear medicine before them. If someone could please translate this scene, that would be wonderful. I don’t know what was in it or if Roberta lied/bribed them to do something. I understood the word “experimental” but little else.

Zaira finds a ring box in Tigre’s backpack. It contains a diamond ring. She is upset and throws all of the contents back in it.

Danilo and Sara are engaging in afterglow of their just completed tryst when there is fierce banging on the door and yelling for Danilo.

Emi caresses her stomach telling her child “te amo mucho”. Uh oh the nurse arrives with the medicine/needle and Emilia is instantly alert telling her she is pregnant, I imagine to ensure whatever she is being given is safe. The nurse smilingly agrees it is. Not long after, Emilia is not feeling well.

The police enter Danilo’s hotel room only to find Sara under a blanket tied up and gagged. Later, Addled and Sara’s mother along with Jen arrive at the police station. Al tells a startled Sara Danilo has fleeced him. Her face reflects her alarm.

Emilia is increasingly agitated and panicking in discomfort.

Tigre’s doctor arrives and asks Zaira if she is Tigre’s wife. She says she is the mother of his child. Tigre wants her to stay. I believe he tells them Tigre will not be able to walk. Zaira says something about seeking a second opinion. Tigre merely says thank you and looks devastated. Te amo Zaira affirms.

Later, Zaira says she wants Tigre to see a specialist. She brings out the ring box and tells him to explain. He ends up proposing and she asks him to put the ring on her finger which he does.

MINAS TINYCAP Part 2

By now, Emilia is having sharp pain as Leo and the doctor arrive.

Roberta arrives to whisk Nico away despite the woman who takes care of Nico’s protests. All of a sudden, Nico rushes in yelling “abuelita”, running into her arms as I cringe. He puts his little hand on Roberta’s face, telling her he is sorry for losing her son.

Meanwhile, the evil miner (whose son bullied Nico) and his family are attempting to flee when the police catch them. I have a family he protests, to no avail.

Roberta walks into the funeral mass for Mau, holding Nico’s hand. Every eye is on them as they walk up the aisle. Leo looks aghast and tells Roberta this is not correct. Unbelievably, she actually opens the casket so Nico can see his father! Leo walks over and shuts it. At that precise moment, Fidel takes a picture.

The priest begins the service as Roberta stares stonily.

Outside (at the burial I think?), Gael comes up and tries to take Nico home. Nico protests but Gael speaks up and seems determined not to leave without him. Leo tries to intervene but Nico rejects him.

Emilia sees the gold chain Sebas left on her bed table. As she moves to take it in her hand, her phone rings and the picture Fidel took of Roberta and Nico at the funeral appears. Emilia grabs her stomach, screaming in pain as she gets out of the bed, falling on the chair in utter desperation.

Please correct and/or add to.

Eternamente
Fernando really doesn't have much faith in his wife. I never believed the idea that people say things they don't mean when they are angry. I think they are likely to say exactly what they think. Martina's sons have some very stupid ideas so I bet Fernando does think 'it's men's world'. It doesn't matter that he himself is famous for messing-up. But he is such a sea wolf that even tiny fish knoo how to avoid him and would enjoy pranking him.
Rogelio will be in a mess he could have avoided or at least tried harder to avoid. I kept thinking I was wrong for thinking he is an asshole because people disagreed. But now no one will convince me it's not the case. Like someone said, he is frustrating and I'm not even married to him. My 'relationship' with this character was doomed when he was only ready to move out of the house when he learnt Martina did something to affect his relationship with Erica. He did nothing when she mistreated Paula. When he found Paula after she had left, he went on and on about how he was affected by her leaving. I don't know if he doesn't like owning up to his mistakes or if he genuinely can mostly think about his own feelings, but it's his wife I would marry. Rogelio has far too many unlikable traits. I think I expected better from him and that's why someone like Fernando doesn't bother me as much. After all, they made him the king of mess-ups whereas Rogelio is somehow the galan. He is also lucky Paula is able to take care of Lucas and give him the attention he needs.
It was nice of Casandra to send the gifts but it's none of her business what Ceci's relationship with Ignacio is like and what she does with it. Who the hell tells a person they barely know 'you need to fix your relationship with your ex for the child's sake'? Darling, you better concentrate on your own relationship with the guy. And Ignacio should at first start raising the child he does have instead of talking about another one. I wonder what he'd tell his son if the child learnt he deliberately tried to ruin a family's life out of revenge? The same tale of'I was a victim so I want them to suffer.' I bet his thrapist doesn't know about his shady dealings.
Ricardo's gift was genius. I'd love to have something like that.

Minas
Say what you will, I liked Sebas scenes with Emilia more than her scenes with Leo. This episode really made it obvious that Sebas and Emilia have known each other for a long time. That scene with the necklace was lovely. Sebas is also right to worry Leo won't be able to protect Emilia from the harm. This episode proved it. Also, I think Leo simply has no idea what Roberta is capable of, which makes things very easy for her. Sebas has a huge advantage of not being her son. It's really a pity Leo is a glan by default when there's something about Seb in these episodes that I find very likable.
Nico rushing to Roberta all of a sudden was odd. She said his mother killed his father and Nico still went with her. She obviously will try to poison him against her and I wonder how he will make sense of this.
That scene with Roberta and the evil doctor was scary. I'm not sure what that was supposed to be. The doctor said she is lucky to have 'human material/substance' or something along those lines for her experiments. Is she going to use the unborn baby for whatever she's experimenting with? This is disturbing.
This has to be one of the few times where a man tells a woman they are going to have a child when she is the one carrying it. I found it funny.
Emilia apparently heard me yesterday when I said now that Mauricio had died things will be worse.
Is Ramiro supposed to take the blame for something? Because the guy asked him if he is going to do what Roberta says because you can enter the business, but you can't leave. What a line! He said 'patrona lost a son, imagine what you could lose'.
I wonder what Sara is going to do now. Why do I have a feeling it doesn't matter much to her that Danielo is a thief?
How long will it be before Roberta manages to take Nico away from Emilia?
I still don't get why Dolores and tigre were so 'friendly'.
When exactly did Danilo tie Saraup? Or did she think this was supposed to be part of their fun?
I so want Leo to be the kind of galan I could admire. I have a strong suspicion though that I will be sorely disappointed.

Tierra #49

Gracias, Diana. That was the most important event in the episode. What is also horrific about it is that Maria Teresa and Valentina did not get to find out about the latter's paternity and now Valentina doesn't get to ever really know Esteban.

Another point in this episode were the meeting between Norma and Clemente. She seems to have accepted his need for independence and his love for Regina. I need a little more proof, however.

Finally, the meeting between Marco and Rut showed that both were wearing jeans and black shoes that were not Western boots. Either of them could have killed Esteban although Rut had the stronger immediate motive. I don't think Marco would have done this at this time because it would delay any chance he would have had to marry Maria Teresa. Both of these men hate Santos because he knows neither of them is not on the up and up. Framing him for the murder gets him out of their way since the Jackal did not succeed in killing him. Marco seems to have an alibi so Rutilio is my prime suspect. His contempt for women is frightening.

Off to watch last night's episode. I didn't get home until midnight.

ETERNAMENTE

I have to admit that my favorite scene was Felipa chasing Melitón around with the rat on the dustpan. Her wicked giggle was perfect. Those two characters have provided us with some very needed and effective comedy.

Diana, "Rather than simply shying away and not returning Vi’s fervent kiss, Rogelio should immediately have removed her arms from his neck, stepped back and walked away. Of course Blanca and Marco are under the erroneous assumption Rogelio was fully invested in the kiss. NOW will he FINALLY fire her???" One would think so. If he doesn't, there is no hope for him. What is he going to tell Paula? He signing to have to tell her now that Blanca and Marco have seen it. I hope he transitions from being such a blockhead before the end of this.

waterlily, "Martina's sons have some very stupid ideas so I bet Fernando does think 'it's men's world'. It doesn't matter that he himself is famous for messing-up." You got it. The problem is that I think that many men still think like Fernando does but they just are better at hiding it. "Ricardo's gift was genius. I'd love to have something like that." Me, too. I never would have imagined something like that. I wonder if that is a real thing.

Diana: "He signing" should "he is going".

waterlily, thank you for translating important dialog I didn't understand including the fact Roberta told Nico Emilia killed Mau! She is contemptible.

"That scene with Roberta and the evil doctor was scary. I'm not sure what that was supposed to be". If Emilia does miscarry, pure speculation based solely on what we saw, whatever their conversation was is crucial.

"When exactly did Danilo tie Saraup? Or did she think this was supposed to be part of their fun?" So, there was an escape route as Danilo obviously got away. Why Sara didn't go out the back way too had me scratching my head. I guess it was a feeble attempt to stage the scene showing Sara was a "prisoner".

Diana, thank you for the great tinycap which wasn't tiny at all. I kept changing the channel because I just couldn't watch all the grief and sadness . Watching MT scream at tenderhearted , sadeyed Santos while believing shifty , smarmy Marco was so frustrating . I did catch Bernarda stroll into the funeral wearing her black jeans and shirt with her signature top four buttons open look. I am watching this actress play a villain opposite Marcelo Cordoba in " Pot Ella Soy Eva." I think she usually okays a villain. The actress playing Adriana is also in that show.

TIERRA

Thank you Susan! Thank you for mentioning Bernarda showing up at the funeral, immersed in grief.

Good heavens, did I even mention the funeral?

Yes, Maria usually plays a villain. Martha Julia, Adriana was our telenovia's wife (Eduardo Yanez) in Destilando Amor. She was a bleach blonde there...and also a villain!

Diana, when I saw your comment about not understanding the conversation between the doctor and Roberta, I was like ' I did understand most of it and still am cueless'. They didn't say much but what confused me was that the doctor said she can help with Roberta's 'problem' and that for science anything is possible. I listened to that conversation again. Roberta said she knew that what she was asking was difficult but that she'll compensate her very well. The doctor said everything's possible with adequate doses andtreatment. That luckily she's been doing experiments for many years and that it's the advantage of having 'human material' which allows to 'try' those treatments. It requires a lot of precision, though. Then she tells someone else 'I have a job for you'. I don't know if what I added makes things any clearer. I just wanted to let you know your Spanish isn't to blame here because it's just confusing on purpose. It does appear that the doctor might get something from this that isn't just money if she uses Emilia for those experiments. I thought this was a horror from the second world war.

Thanks Jarifa, your notes were a great short story!

Starting at the end, I know he was pushing her away, but he’s a big guy and should have been more successful. And Violeta thinks very highly of herself, how does her friend keep a straight face!

Fernando is awful. J.J is a partner in the business but he can’t seem to show him any respect. Although I do think JJ is probably interested in Imelda. But Fernando does not have the temperament to be president of the company.

I loved the scene with the pinky swear between Paula and Martina. Their relationship has grown and changed so much. I’m still hoping Martina will be ok and able to enjoy her marriage to Gabriel.

Poor Lucas, he left too soon. A good reason not to eavesdrop. I hope this gets cleared up soon.

I really thought Ignacio had sent all those gifts. I guess because it seemed like so much and I can see him wanting to be extravagant with his son. Cass should have gotten her a small gift, not bought for Ignacio.

Tonight should be interesting! How is Ignacio going to react to Ricardo holding his baby and what will Rogelio do about Violeta!

Liz

Diana, thank you for the tinycao, which again was not tiny . You caught every tense, dramatic moment . I always love to read anything you write. You definitely have a wonderful way with words. Thank you so much.

I am fascinated with Seb. As he sat next to Em, you could see how Mich he was longing to touch her. This tenderhearted guy is so faithful, hopelessly devoted ,and full of love for Em . It hurts my heart to see how he pines for this unrequited love. I like Leo, too , but there is something about Seb's unwavering support, love, and protection that warms my heart. Em has 2 strong, devoted men in love with her.

The acting playing Danilo is giving his all to this role . Just wait until Sara's daddy finds out she has Bern sleeping with the guy who tricked him.

What in the world did Rotten Rob get that doctor to give to Em. Is it causing a miscarriage ( which feels like you are suddenly going into labor)? Rob is relentless in her crazy hatred.

Is Jo Rob's sister ?

Thank you Urban and Diana for the recaps of Friday and Monday’s episodes! I still haven’t watched but I was dying to know whose tragic death it was so I so appreciate your Tinycap Diana!

It is sad but not surprising Esteban died. I think we all said the second he was determined to confront Rut that it was a BAD idea!!! Very BAD!!

I agree Urban that the real tragedy is Valentina and MT not being told about her parentage, but I am guessing she is about to find out since we saw that Esteban called his lawyer to change his will right after finding out about Valentina. As soon as that will is read (was it last night?) the secret will be out and both daughters will feel betrayed. Vale especially lost out in not getting the opportunity to know Este as dad.

It is a pet peeve when they do things like frame the galán for murder and the leading lady believes it!!! It is so annoying to me. In what world would Santos kill Esteban and why?? I get that there’s shock, grief and all that but it is crazy that MT would believe it! They show stuff like this so often on TV shows it makes me wonder if there really are people in real life so quick to believe such horrible and uncharacteristic things about the people that they know and love just because it looks bad…

Oh Waterlily, "...luckily she's been doing experiments for many years and that it's the advantage of having 'human material' which allows to 'try' those treatments" horrified me! What in heaven's name has she done to Emilia? Just gut wrenching. Thank you for explaining this a bit more. "Horror from the second world war" encapsulates this perfectly.

"I like Leo, too , but there is something about Seb's unwavering support, love, and protection that warms my heart". Susan, I SO agree!! Seb is a gem and deserves someone as wonderful as he...Thank you for your always kind words and support.

Urban, your logic "I don't think Marco would have done this at this time because it would delay any chance he would have had to marry Maria Teresa. Both of these men hate Santos because he knows neither of them is not on the up and up. Framing him for the murder gets him out of their way since the Jackal did not succeed in killing him. Marco seems to have an alibi so Rutilio is my prime suspect" as to who is the murderer seems flawless.

Darcy, I agree with you and Urban that both Valentina and Esteban have now been robbed of developing their relationship which had just started to bloom. Yes both Valentina and Maria Teresa will be shocked once it is revealed.

I miss the days where once the galan and heroine got together, their faith, trust and belief in each other never faltered. I had hoped once she got over her initial shock, Maria Teresa would realize that Santos would never have done this. It was so obvious he is suffering and in pain himself.

Tierra #50

Tierra de Esperanza 10/10/23
Episode 50: Part 1 of 3

Santos tried to convince Maria Teresa that he could not have killed her fathr.

Rut went home and Norma told him she met with Clemente. He became angry at her “disobedience” and she was frustrated at his constant criticism. He threw the diner napkin on the table and walked out.

Maria Teresa was not convinced and became angrier. The distrust that had been buiding up over the past months exploded when she had seen him pummeling the Jackal. She calleed him an animal. When he said he would never have done such a thing to her father she shook him again and shouted that he was never to say anything about her father. He answereed that he had lost the only person who was like a father to him and thought of him as something other than an animal. [How do these people forget that animals only kill for food and self-defense?] Both cried [although she did not relax her grip on his lapels].

Cris and Remedios entered the police station where she told Trejo he had to release Santos. He said that the evidence was very serious and would not allow them to see him. He told them to leave and wait. They went outside.

Bernarda stood on her porch and thought of the injustice of it all.

Marco went to the police station to gloat while setting his trap for Maria Teresa. He asked Trejo when the body would be released and Trejo said that this would be when they had some forensic tests done. He then walked away with Marco staring after him before sitting down to wait.

Maria Teresa demanded an explanation but Santos had no idea. He asked rhetorically why he would have killed her father. “First Aldo, now you” she said. He told her that all he had was his word. He asked to let him prove his innocence. Looking like an avenging angel in the dark she told him he had better or she would make sure he would go to prison for life. She walked out. He leaned against the wall and cried. [Now, is Carolina Miranda the first actress whose mascara ran when she cried?]

Marco lay in wait for her and managed not to salivate at the thought of her tortured mind. She would not talk about this. He told her he was arranging for her to claim her father's body. She thanked him, he embraced her, and said he would take charge of everything. His facial expression – that she did not see – was serious.

Bernarda took a deep breath before telling her daughters the tragic news. Valentina became hysterical and full of questions. Bernarda and Regina got on either side of her and Bernarda embraced them both,

When Maria Teresa and Mario got outside Remedios asked what happened. Maria Teresa told her that her father's body had been found in the back of Santos' truck and that she had never imagined Santos capable of such a crime. Remedios denied that he was. Cris tried to say something but Marco stopped them, saying that all the evidence pointed at Santos and that he soon would be in prison. He then started to lead Maria Teresa away.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/10/23
Episode 50: Part 2 of 3

Regina went to make tea. Valentina asked why this was hurting so much. She wanted to tell Santos but Bernarda said to wait a few days. Valentina started crying again and Bernarda hugged her while trying to hold back her own tears.

Santos obviously could not sleep and ending up shouting his innocence from his cell.

Remedios and Cris almost broke into Trejo's office demanding to see Santos. She was certain that someone was framing Santos for the murder. She threatened to call the capital because of all the corruption in the town and was prepared to do whatever it took to prove Santos innocent. Trejo looked concerned.

Maro started talking about how he felt when his father died. He continued to accuse Santos of that murder. Maria Teresa said she had to rest, Marco said he could stay with her but she wanted to alone. [...as we flies on the wall let out a major sigh of relief] He kissed her on the cheek, said goodnight, and left.

Cris said that many people in Puerto Bravo would speak well of Santos but Trejo insisted on the strength of the evidence and ordered them out. Cris kept Trejo's attention as Remedios grabbed the phone and called someone in the capital to get an investigator. Trejo failed to get the phone out of her hands and looked worried as she and Cris left the office.

Maria Teresa went to the study. Nani saw her and she told her it was true. She then went to be alone. Nani told Genoveva they needed to prepare for the funeral.

Norma was reading as Rut seemed unable to sleep. Ambulance, fire, or police sirens could be heard from outside. He got up and turned on his own light, Norma asked what was wrong. He became evasive, then accusatory. She was fed up and said so. He accused her of playing the victim and said he was going down for a glass of water.

Remedios and Cris talked about getting a lawyer. He told her not to give up hope.

The next morning a forensic expert photographed the murder weapon as he told Trejo the body could be released to the family, Tests would be done in the facilities in the capital. Trejo seemed convinced that Santos was guilty but Rodrigo Ulloa said things are not always what they seem. They would contact him.

Adriana – wearing a leather-like dress in an unflattering color – learned of the murder from Marco. She asked him if he did it. [Thus begins their fight to the end.]

Nani lit candles as Maria Teresa came downstairs in a black dress. Trejo led his officers in, six of them carrying the pewter-grey casket. The police set the casket in place silently and left like good soldiers. Trejo politely took his leave. Maria Teresa began crying again about being alone and without both parents. Nani cried as well as Maria Teresa said she could not stay there without them.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/10/23
Episode 50: Part 3 of 3

Marco calmly asked why Adriana could think such a thing. She went on the offensive, asking why he wouldn't answer her. He finally said he did not do this; Santos did. The body was found on the flatbed of Santos' truck. He didn't want to talk any more about it. He told her to change her clothes so they could go to La Esperanza to support Maria Teresa. She stopped and smirked to herself as she left the study.

Rut apparently went out the night before and would not talk about it. Nor would he talk about his public duties. He insulted her intelligence again, saying she doesn't understand any of this. [Over time he took his own illusion and made it reality.]

Maria Teresa cried about losing Esteban and not being able to share their plans for the ranch. Nani cried with her, saying that their parents were together in heaven.

Over breakfast Norma tried to talk to Rut about Clemente but he would not listen [Now, tell me, have we seen anyone in this town try to shame him over anything about Clemente?], He said calmly he did not want to talk about it.

In the town square Rodrigo overheard Remedios and Cris talking about Santos so he talked to them. He had recently received various reports criticizing Rut and said they were being investigated.

Norma told Rut that Clemente was doing whatever he had to to become successful. Rut claimed that all he did was throw tantrums [talk about narcissistic projection]. He insisted that Clemente did not have the right to make his own destiny [Too bad; so sad...Not] He gave up and left the table without finishing his food.

La Esperanza's employees were present, all dressed in black. Marco arrived with a white floral arrangement and the black widow that was his stepmother. Adriana made the usual canned speech quietly to Maria Teresa. Marco did the same which led her to say “You are all I have left.”

Cris was still in town with Remedios who went to her house while he waited for her.

Adriana had the sadistic gall to ask Maria Teresa what happened in order to get her to repeat the narrative. Marco behaved as though he disapproved but this was an obvious set-up for more slurs against Santos. Adriana stared as Marcos pretended to console Maria Teresa.

Remedios talked to Norma to get her to help [Good luck with that.]

Bernarda and her daughters arrived at the funeral. She cried and left the room. Valentina approached Maria Teresa only to be rebuked by Marco who insulted her and told her that Santos was arrested for murder. When she denied that Santos would do any such thing Marco shouted it out to all present. Maria Teresa tried to get him to stop.

Diana, yes, that unwavering devotion between the leads seems to have gone out of style in novelas. Recently, I saw scenes from Alborada, Amor Real, and Pasion all starring Fernando Colunga, the king of the kiss.

Tierra #50

Did I just do that one for nothing?

Things to remember:

-- Marco has no clue that Adriana killed his father. Her motive was to claim his entire property. She seems ignorant of Mexican inheritance law.
-- We still don't know who sired Regina. My money is on Marco.
-- Adriana is unlikely to have a will so if she dies before Marco he is likely to get her half, but what if he kills her?

Minas

The writers have made Leo look helpless against his demon mother . At least he backed young Gael up when Gael came to take Nick home.

At the end, it appeared that Em was bleeding and miscarrying .

Can't wait to see where the writers are taking this story.

Tierra

Urban, I can only speak for myself but I personally am very thankful you did that one so don’t think you did it for nothing at all! I am keeping up via recaps since I can’t find time to watch. The family doesn’t speak Spanish so I know they don’t want to watch me watch it! Lol I appreciate knowing what I am missing until I can catch up!

Vale wondering why this hurts so much is surely the ‘call of the blood’. I am still sad they killed off Esteban he was such a nice character, so calming and heart warming to watch!

TIERRA

Urban, you did an exceptional job with this somber, sober episode.

“Marco arrived with a white floral arrangement and the black widow that was his stepmother” was my favorite line of many with “[How do these people forget that animals only kill for food and self-defense?]” receiving honorable mention.

It was sad watching Santos pleading with Maria Teresa, swearing he would never be capable of this terrible crime. He failed to convince her of his innocence as she still didn’t believe him! Following on the heels of her not taking his word on his fight with the Jackal, one wonders where did the years of trust and fidelity disappeared to?

Marco and Rut certainly don’t seem to want to “talk about it”. Guilt anyone??

The evidence does seem irrefutable. At the moment. But surely a timeline of the murder will need to be established. As Santos was seen by Norma and Camila and Clemente can vouch for his presence close to or during the time of the murder, hopefully their testimony will turn the tide. However, the wheels of justice do move slowly…I suspect Trejo may yet have a part in uncovering some of the evidence.

Bernarda fleeing immediately after entering the funeral was telling. Marco yelling out like a madman was cringeworthy. “Maria Teresa tried to get him to stop”. Try harder!

ETERNAMENTE

Liz, thanks for commenting on the pinky swear. That was the best! Yes, Martina and Paula have developed a good relationship in spite of everything. I never knew that a pinky swear was something outside of the USA.

Eternamente

Thank you Jarifa! I so appreciate your notes as always!

Imagining Marina pinky promising Paula made me smile! It’s sad to think that just as Martina is learning to loosen up and actually enjoy the people around her, fall in love and get married, she’s is probably developing Alzheimer’s!

Waterlily, I agree with you still Rogelio is a jerk. Maybe he came across his jerkiness honestly and maybe it’s a result of how he was raised but he’s still a jerk! I feel for Lucas because he’s so loved but it is hard to feel like you aren’t! Just reading the recap made me want to hug him!

I also look forward to seeing Felipe chase Milton around with the rat!! Lol

TIERRA

Urban, no your recap was absolutely essential to understand all that is going on!! You added so much!

Your questions were all excellent.

Yes, Marco doesn't know Adriana killed his father. I thought she was cagier than he, but he seems to have the upper hand at the moment. He may well do away with Adriana and if so, it seems likely the land would revert to him if she had no will? I agree she likely doesn't.

I sadly agree in thinking Marco is Regina's father!

Darcy, yes, Esteban was a calm and loving presence. Both of his daughters will mourn him; Maria Teresa for knowing who he is and Valentina for never knowing who he truly was.

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Darcy, if nothing else you have to see Felipa torturing that “coward” Melitón. He told her the rat was as big as a rabbit. Sure. Very funny.

Tierra #50

I couldn't resist making the black widow comment.

One of the things that I find so depressing in this world is how easily so many people can be made to believe so many lies. We've seen this in the real world and seeing it in telenovelas is a truly grim reminder.

One this situation is resolved my advice to Maria Teresa would be to sell the property and move far away. Who would want to live in an area like that where lies become truth by being repeated often enough (per Goebbels) and the evil flourish like the green bay tree?

Eternamente

Super job, Jarifa.

Even though Cass overstepped, it was nice seeing Cecilia's joy thinking Ignacio would do something generous and kind like sending the baby those gifts. If he had any sense, he'd build on this goodwill with Cecilia. If he starts ranting about her visitor, he's hopeless and useless.

Wondering what Imelda will do if JJ puts the moves on her.

Meliton, I'm with you. I would've run out of there like a bat out of hell.

Tierra

Thanks so much Urban, I got as angry as when I was watching the show! Or maybe frustrated is a better word. How can MT believe Santos killed her father. She’s so in love with him but has never believed his warnings about Marco. And she needs to start wearing sleeves. I’m sure I saw Marco kissing her shoulder while she was crying. She needs to think about who has something to gain and who has lovingly worked the land and taught her everything. Also, if you kill someone you don’t put the body and the weapon in your own truck.

Rut was so horrible to Norma. I wish she’d just tell him off and leave. I think he said a son should be by his side but when he gave Clemente that job Clemente started really investigating! I hope he provides some evidence to get his father. I do think Rut did it because he was so angry that Estaben was going to the governor, or had a friend in the governor’s office. Although maybe Marco can kill when calm. Although Jackal usually does it for him.

Someone said the call of the blood and I thought that too. Valentina didn’t know way she was so upset, her mom needs to tell her and MT.
Only 10 more episodes, we should start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel soon!

Oh, forgot to comment on the mascara running. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before and it made it more real and harder to watch her grief.

She starts saying that she told him she wants to have a child and she wants to but she cannot continue with their relationship unless he knows about her past. Luis says there are ways to stop things before they get too far. Rogelio agrees. He also tells Luis that they won't be discussing this anymore and for him to stay out of his relationship with Paula. He needs to concentrate on his relationship with Andrea. He asks Luis to be left alone.

He is upset that she waited so long to tell him. She had to feel that she trusted him. He accuses her of trying to trap him. She starts to laugh. She cannot believe what she is hearing. She doens't need anyone. If she forgetting her past is the price of them being together, he can forget it! She isn't fleeing but she will be back when she has cooled down and she can think clearly.

26. Lucas and Regina are always laughing about the new principal AKA "the general."

27. Violeta and her friend are waiting for Rogelio somewhere. He asks what she is doing there. She reminds him that she still has his agenda. She is upset that they will not let her in at the company. He grabs her by her arms and says that he is not going to make the same mistake. He will not allow her to get close to him, his wife, or his work. Does she get it? She breaks free saying he is hurting her. She steps backwards right into the street where a vehicle hits her.

That is it for me tonight. Please add anything I left out and you remember.

Minas

Thanks Diana for your not tiny tinycap. I loved it!

What Roberta did to Emi is a mystery. She'll probably miscarry though. Poor Emi.

Seb is really sweet, especially in the last episodes.

I don't know if I'll he able to put up something for tonight. I'll try though.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, another phenomenal recap, exceptionally detailed. You filled in my many blanks, thank you!

“Her friend asks her not to do anything stupid. (Is that possible?)” had me laughing away.

FINALLY things have come to a screeching halt. So to speak…

I’d say Violeta overplayed her hand, but she had no cards to begin with did she? She insinuated herself in Rogelio’s life solely by the sheer force of will. Rogelio never displayed the slightest interest in her yet she pursued him relentlessly. She never had a chance but her confused, fevered brain refused to compute.

But Paula was right. Rogelio never took Violeta seriously enough. He needed to set strict limits, which he failed to do.

There are times things aren’t what they seem but in this case it pretty much was as Rogelio let the kiss go on far too long. Had he pushed her away and stepped back immediately Blanca and Marco would not have seen what they saw.

Somewhat surprisingly, Ignacio has seemed to have been able to control himself. First when Cass told him about her past. Yes, he left but there was no yelling, screaming or threats. While he did warn Ricardo off somewhat, he also kept his cool there as well. He treated Ceci with civility and it seems they are working their way toward coming to terms. Progress.

Was anything shown as to what happened when Ignacio visited Ceci at night finding Ricardo holding the baby? I missed a few minutes here and there so wasn’t sure.

Fernando’s neanderthal leanings are getting tiresome. I don’t doubt for a minute that JJ will pounce if the opportunity presents itself. I think Imelda does love Fernando in her own way and I don’t think she will cheat on him.

“She adds that Ulises is going to be going back to live in Sayulita. (Now that should have made Rogelio's day if it had been another day)” was exactly right. Too bad he wasn’t paying attention.

I wonder how many tickets Meliton bought to fritter away his entire paycheck? Felipe was beside herself. Still when he started “singing sad songs and cries”, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him, poor guy.

With each passing day, I’m doubting more and more that Martina and Gabriel are going to make it to the altar.

Weirdo, you noted you might not be able to do a recap tonight, so while I didn’t write anything down, here are a few highlights of what I remembered. Tragically, there are far more lowlights in this very disturbing episode.

As Emilia holds her stomach, screaming in pain, we see her bleeding and sadly, she loses the baby.

In surgery, she flatlines, briefly transported to the afterlife where she sees her mother and later her father. Her mother comforts and consoles her. I tried to listen but I was totally distracted by their surroundings, sheets hanging on clothes lines. I would think that in heaven you DON’T have to do laundry. 😊 Nevertheless, Emilia is shocked back to life here on earth.

Leo speaks with the doctor who assures him that Emilia wanted to terminate the pregnancy. When Leo returns to Emilia’s bedside, he coldly confronts her saying it was her decision. A distraught, heartbroken Emilia cries it’s not true! Leo is unmoved and unbelieving. Emilia tells him to leave and makes it clear how she feels about him, and his mother.

Leo gets even more pathetic as the night wears on. Rather than going after one of the real culprits, Fidel, Leo seeks Orlando out and starts a fight. Immersed in self-pity Leo tries to drown his sorrows, chugging out of a bottle. Sara is rightthere, and he falls into her trap and her arms once more. The last scene of them we see is her pulling him back on the bed. He does not resist.

I had high hopes for Leo as a galan, now smashed to smithereens.

Roberta continues her crusade of evil demanding Orlando arrest Emilia for threatening Mauricio. Orlando, sorely in need of a backbone, complies.

When all hope appears to be lost, there is one bright light in the form of steadfast Sebas. He arrives in Emilia’s room, finding her inconsolable in her grief. He listens in his kind, compassionate manner.

Zaira sees Roberta at the hospital desk and leaves to warn her. Emilia and Sebastian are attempting to make a break for it…I fear they will not get far.

eternamente
When I was watching the episode, I got unreasonably angry at Marco for going on about 'Rogelio's version of events'. I imagine in his case it's about defending his brother, but it reminded me too much of how men side with each other and cover up each other's affairs.
I didn't catch Rogelio saying it's not his fault. Great. Now I hate him even more. He also got angry at Luis daring to bring up the issue. I still have a feeling Rogelio doesn't like it when other people want to make it clear he was responsible for something. Saying it wasn't his fault to Paula was just...astonishing, given that she kept insisting he had to do something about it. An asshole of a guy. Is he really the galan? Not Gabriel? And I wonder how he expected Paula to react. It's too late to apologoise...too late. And Luis was a bit too generous when he said Rogelio won't tell Paula in order not to hurt her. It's easy to hide cowardice behind such intentions because the reality is that Rogelio could be pretty sure Paula wasn't going to react well to the news. Conflict avoidance is a reason to keep quiet too. I wanted Luis to grill him a bit more because it pissed me off so much he didn't take V seriously even when Paula asked him to. I cannot believe he hasn't learnt. It's like Paula has to raise him as if he were a child.
Ignacio's reaction surprised me. Him not being able to accept other people's flaws baffles me when he himself is very flawed and keeps making bad decisions. I don't get what scared him about this. Trap him? What the hell is he on about? Is he the only one who is allowed to have a past that is in fact tragic?I think what pisses me off here is that it's a situation whereCasandra had sex with other men and Ignacio is scared by this. So what would not frighten him?
Violeta's plan surprised me. She immediately decided to play the harassment card. Only I wonder if she'd be able to go through with it. She has no proof and that's what counts I imagine. But it was interesting to watch how she went from 'the man of my life' to 'I'll make sure he pays for rejecting me'. How is it that JJ never noticed how unstable she is? I know sometimes people dont' see what they don't want to see, but her lying must have been obvious early on. It can't be a new thing. It requires a certain kind of negligence to miss it. JJ being on her side so much for some reason makes me think he feels guilty about something. Maybe that's not the case, but people being great defendors of someone isn't always a good thing, especially as Violeta's tendencies to make stuff up are easily noticible. Her friend said at one point'you sure you aren't inventing things as before?
Why does Cecilia keep saying it's 'her' child? It's Ignacio's too, whether she likes it or not. Why did she get so upset when he showed up? Does she think he'll get violent?

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, thanks for your always kind comments. We sure are moving right along. We never saw Ignacio's reaction to Ricardo with the baby. It wasn't cut out either. So, I guess we could conclude that he didn't go crazy. "With each passing day, I’m doubting more and more that Martina and Gabriel are going to make it to the altar." Me, too, especially after those discussions they were having about eh future. I think we have seen too many novelas to not know the outcome of those. LOL It looks like Rogelio's Violeta nightmare is not quite over yet. Is she dead? badly injured? or just out of her fantasy world for a couple of hours? Will that result in more bad PR?
will Rogelio ever progress beyond being a blockhead?

waterlily, "Why did she get so upset when he showed up?" I get the feeling that Ignacio hasn't been around much and when he does come around, he just pops up and never lets her know or asks her if it is okay to come by. it seems like he has no respect for her or her time. Ignacio is improving but he still has a long way to go. I do not think that Cecilia has even seen him enough to know that he is trying to change. As for his reaction to Cass' escort days, it was really sad. He had to leave without any thought to how that was going to make her feel.?He couldn't even say that he needed to go and think about what she told him? He had to run like al little kid? But then maybe he is still like a little kid when he actually seemed surprised when Cass said she was leaving but would be back to talk about things more calmly.

Minas

Ok...i have to say it because I'm soo mad . What is that saying? que me lleva el tren? Leo think that a woman who was raped and kept the baby would abort a child because? Someone once said Sebas isn't a galan material I refused to believe it. Leo is no galan in my eyes. If there's no trust, there's no relationship. 'I have no one,Sara, estoy solo' Oh piss off, you annoying git. Like Susan said, Leo comes across as too weak. And I think that's a big problem with the writing: women are strong in these shows whereas men, even and especially galanes, are weak and womenend up having to suffer because of that. Weakness as a trait is rarely attractive in a woman but a galan can have it and still have two women after him for some reason. I'm just so mad. I don't know what they are planning to do to redeem Leo but my hopes were dashed to smithereenes (love this word,Diana).
Fidel for some reason got mad at Jenifer, who was trying to help Orlando find out about his mother.
What keeps Orlando in this town?
I wonder what Leo is going to do when Emilia is inevitably sent to prison.
I would quite like to slap Leo. I know they haven't known each other for long, but still. Maybe that's the problem because I doubt Sebas would have believed a nonsense like this. I never really understood why their way of separating the main couple means also destroying a galan's character completely.
Why does Nico all of a sudden like Roberta so very much?
Oh and Leo slept with Sara. The typical 'men will be men' nonsense. I need a big stick. Or would a brick be better?
I think it does say something about women when we still tryto justify men's awful behaviour. There are really awful galanes and I still see comments that say 'I wish she ended up with him'.'

Minas
Oh and I was trying so hard to understand aquote tigre mentioned to Emilia. And yet I don't think I caught it all. He said something along the lines of never regret yesterday. Life is today. Then something that sounded like 'en ti'. And that you create your own tomorrow.
Emilia and her mum's conversation didn't contain anything very interesting. It had the usual 'it's not your time yet' refrain. Emilia said she's tired of fighting. And her mother talked about her inner strength and Ignacio about her values and her truth. Right. Like that's going to help in a town where everyone is either a coward or corrupt.

ETERNAMENTE

I think the biggest mistake Rogelio made was grabbing Violeta. How did he think that he could put his hands on her? Whether that becomes an issue in the novela, I do not know but that could be a real problem for him.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/11/23
Episode 51: Part 1 of 2

Maria Teresa told Valentina what happened. Valentina begged her to believe her but ran out when Maria Teresa did not.

Norma went to Trejo's office to ask him to allow Remedios to see Santos. He caved. She also got him to agree not to tell Rut, He described the evidence.

Of course Santos told Remedios he did not do it. She told him she would help him.

Valentina found Cris in the square and he told her Remedios was in to see Santos. She ran off.

Bernarda expressed her condolences to Maria Teresa then realized that Valentina was not there. She went out to look for her.

Remedios told Santos she'd bring him fresh clothes, etc. He asked her to call Camila and Clemente. He told her that Maria Teresa believed him guilty.

Valentina went to Rut's office to confront him over Santos. She accused him of having impregnated her mother. He laughed at her, saying she will never see Santos again. He called Bernarda a slut which further riled Valentina. Some ugly words later Valentina walked out.

Remedios advised Santos to think of Maria Teresa and proving his innocence.

Clemente waited on a group of his peers who recognized his blog post about Regina. As he was called away from the table they agreed to give him a big tip.

Bernarda and Regina talked about Valentina. She did not want to cause Valentina any more grief. Bernarda then told Regina about having been very close to Esteban.

Valentina found Cris again and was hysterical after her confrontation with Rut. Remedios arrived and Valentina ran in to talk to Trejo. Remedios and Cris went to see Camila.

Rut arrived at the funeral with a floral arrangement larger than Marco's. He then told the workers that Santos would be taken to the reclusorio in the capital.

Trejo told Valentina she could not see him but she ultimately persuaded him to allow her to.

Remedios and Cris went to Camila who said Santos had been at her place with her and Clemente. The three went out to find him.

Valentina told Santos what they were doing and that she believed him innocent.

Cris went to the bar to find out that Susi was not there. He asked to use the phone.

Esteban was buried next to his wife. According to the headstone he was only 60 [6 years younger than the actor].

Tierra de Esperanza 10/11/23
Episode 51: Part 2 of 2

Remedios brought Camila to Trejo who tried to refuse her but Remedios was determined. He finally agreed to take Camila's statement.

Marco stayed after the other mourners left. He was not in the room when Valentina came in and said that Camila had seen him. He heard that and made Valentina leave.

Rut went to see Adriana saying that Santos had motive [WTAF???] Then he started the seduction process [We are graciously spared the result of this].

Cris returned to the ranch. Camila called Clemente to get him back to Puerto Bravo.

Maria Teresa was almost ill. She asked who Camila is and Marco said she was a whore. [Maria Teresa, tell Camila this].

Valentina yelled at Bernarda about Rut, demanding to know why she had never been told he was her father. Bernarda tried to tell her he was not and that she was on the edge of telling her the truth of the situation.

Maria Teresa was feeling lost without her father and Santos. Nani told her she was strong and would survive her grief.

Valentina and Bernarda argued yet again without any disclosure.

Rut arrived home to an angry Norma who demanded he disclose his whereabouts and the charges against Santos. She had seen Santos near Camila's place on the night in question.

Marco went to Camila about Santos being at her place. He told here that made her Santos' accomplice.

Norma accused Rut of accusing Santos to close the case.

Marco tried to get Camila to identify others who saw Santos. She would not tell him any more. He started to come on to her but this looked like he was looking to do what we saw Fernando of FELS did to Ruth while saying that it would not benefit her to say more to the police.

Rut tried again to gaslight Norma back to being stupid about everything.

Maria Teresa cried in her room. Nani brought tea. Maria Teresa decided to leave the ranch never to return. She did not know where to go. She said she would get Marco to help get a buyer for the ranch.

Marco was in Camila's bed. She was still not talking.

Nani told Maria Teresa not to make any decisions yet. Maria Teresa cried but said nothing.

"will Rogelio ever progress beyond being a blockhead?" made me smile again this morning Jarifa. And you are absolutely right, what gave him the right to touch Violeta? He should have treated her like the radioactive poison she is, and keep his hands behind his back. I'm thinking Violeta isn't badly hurt, but I could be very wrong. I'd rather see her back up on her feet, far away so the story can concentrate on the many dangling threads left to resolve.

"I still have a feeling Rogelio doesn't like it when other people want to make it clear he was responsible for something". Of course you are right on target waterlily! I didn't care for the way he seemed to put both Marco and Luis in their places so to speak. Rogelio isn't a bad man, and has some good qualities but isn't the charismatic, romantic, self effacing galan that I prefer.

TIERRA

Urban, you did an awesome job with this tense, terse episode.

He called Bernarda a slut which further riled Valentina. Poor Valentina, utterly convinced Rut is her father (heaven forbid). She had no fear, confronting him like an avenging angel. He poured salt on her wound by calling her mother a slut. He was so disdainful and disgusted that she would even consider thinking she was his child. Such cruelty. “Some ugly words later Valentina walked out”. Yet she did so with her head held high.

At the core, Trejo is a bit of a softie, isn’t he? Not only allowing Remedios to see Santos but Valentina as well.

Bernarda must tell Valentina the truth. Now.

Maria Teresa “asked who Camila is and Marco said she was a whore”. Marco and Rut will likely discredit Camila and Remedios as witnesses with little difficulty. Whether Norma allows Rut to manipulate her into silence remains to be seen. All seems to rest squarely on the shoulders of Clemente who will be in a frightening, dire position with Rutilio.

Watching Valentina steadfastly defending Santos, passionately telling him she believes him shows what true love and devotion is. Maria Teresa’s racoon eyes speak of her pain yet her faith in love and in Santos’ innocence is appallingly absent.

Can love continue to exist without trust?

Minas

Autocorrect likes to change Minas to Minus. I hope it is wrong .

Dear Diana, you and I have always seemed to be on the same wave length throughout our years on Caray. As soon as I saw that scene of Em finding her mother amid the white fabrics hanging on lines, I thought ...well, evidently we are still going to be doing laundry in heaven. That doesn't sound like heaven to me. How about dishes? Taking out the garbage ? UFF

What are the writers thinking with Leo immediately believing that Em chose to abort their baby ? This is the same guy who pledged his heart and soul to her not long after they met and she beat him up .... Same guy who just rescued her from the mine and looked so large and in charge.... Same guy in his dirty clothes and work boots who spooned with her in her hospital bed . My beanie is of no use , and I am too tired to suspend my disbelief that high . And then ...be gets his drunk on and goes to bed with manipulating , overconfident Sara. I actually feel sorry for Oswald because when I look at him it seems that be is having trouble portraying this sudden turn of character. Makes no sense at all.

Waterlily, such a gentle name for someone looking for a big stick ! ( Was it Teddy Roosevelt who famously said " Walk softly, but carry a big stick .") I don't blame you. The writers have ruined Leo as a galan we can love and respect . How will they ever redeem him because we know the two leads end up with the HEA...except in some Turkish dizis.

In contrast , Seb is the calm, strong presence still there . He is absolutely Em's ride or die.

I have known some not very nice guys in my life, but I have been blessed with a Lot of good guys in my orbit...My dad, father in law, male cousins, brothers in law , friends ,and a wonderful hub .

Leo reminds me of the galan in " Entre mi amor y th amor" who refused to believe his mother was an evil killer .

Minas

P.s. If Orlando listens to his father And Rotten Rob and arrests Em for Mau's death ( QTH?) , I am done with this tall drink of water, too. Waterlily, did you find that stick? Losers .

Eternamente #97/98

Great stuff, Jarifa. I don't know how you do it...

I am also afraid that Martina and Gabriel won't make it to the altar. Alzheimer's is a killer in more ways than one. To Waterlily's possibly rhetorical question, Alzheimer's Disease is on the increase. That's scary and people need to know about it. My college buddy's father died of it and he started getting paranoid about getting it himself. I've been watching novelas for thirty years, long enough to feel sad when actors in their eighties die. I can't imagine how actors within a few years of that feel when their characters develop this condition. Diana Bracho is knocking it out of the park, but it makes me wonder whether she thinks about whether this could happen to her someday.

To another recent question, I don't think Fernando really believes Imelda is incompetent, at least not now. Back when they were first married? Maybe. I believe he is afraid she is actually smarter than he is. He may even subconsciously envy her having been an only child who got all the available parental attention vs having been one of four brothers and not being the favored first-born. Imelda also had the choice of career available to her vs the expectation to enter The Family Business. Then there's also the issue of JJ's apparent attraction to her. He's an alpha by comparison.

I think Marco was right to give Rogelio the benefit of the doubt. He knows Rogelio well enough that Violetta would not turn his head away from Paula. However everyone forgets that some people are uncontrollable so Rogelio firing her was the only solution to this problem.

BTW, Violetta seems to have a very different confidante from a couple of days ago. That often happens with narcissists who discard them when they disagree on major issues and replace them. The previous one probably saw through her BS.

"TIERRA":
RGV Chick: This Telenovela is already in Ultimos Capitulos ? Sounds like Univision & Televisa are trying to wind down this Telenovela very quickly.

"ETERNAMENTE":
Jarifa: AWESOME job on the recap of last night's episode.

UA: I've got the same suspicions about Martina & Gabriela NOT making it to the altar barring some last-minute crazy twists.

Imelda is actually more smarter. I got to give Gema Garoa credit for portraying such a reviled & hypocritical character.

"GOLPE DE SUERTE":

I am assuming this Telenovela starring Eduardo Yanez & Mayrin Villanueva will be replacing "TIERRA" ?

Tierra #51

This series isn't being rushed; it only has 60 episodes. If there are no pre-emptions from here on it will finish on Monday the 23rd if the finale is 2 hours.

After this I will watch and comment until something major comes up like a novela de epoca or something new with a favorite star.

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, to be honest, I do not think we have a traditional galán here either. I think that Rogelio is a good man but he is like lots of men I know in "real life." He is far from perfect but is trying the best he can to keep up with societal changes and is still is out of touch with things that women see immediately: like the Violeta problem. To me he is sort of the "every man" with money of course. ; )

Urban, in reference to Fernando , BINGO: "I believe he is afraid she is actually smarter than he is." Fernando needs some help in developing some self confidence before he ends up ruining every relationship he has. ITA that Marco was right to have wanted to know what Rogelio had to say. There should have been no race to tell Rogelio anything until they saw if and what Rogelio told Paula. Until then it was, frankly, none of their business. I felt that Blanca's rush to want to tell Paula showed how young and naïve she still is.

Steve, thanks. I am hoping "Golpe de suerte" replaces "Eternamente".

Eternamente #98

One more thing: Ignacio's attempt to ban male visitors to Cecelia's apartment is super-controlling. He is trying to prevent her from having a love life after their divorce. He has no valid reason to object to Ricardo who is not abusive and has a normal daughter. No judge in the world would cave to this demand if this got to a courtroom.

MINAS

"Leo think that a woman who was raped and kept the baby would abort a child because?" I couldn't have said it better waterlily. Unfathomable.

Susan, yes, we are usually on the same wavelength! :) In terms of Emi's brief "departure" from earth "That doesn't sound like heaven to me. How about dishes? Taking out the garbage ? UFF". HA!! Exactly!

OMG, please, please, don't have Orlando continue to do his father's bidding!! We've already lost Leo, I couldn't take losing him as well! Perish the thought.

Diana

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa, I enjoyed “reliving” this busy episode.

Rogelio had complained to JJ about Violeta before. Of course she denied any wrong doing. But he was stupid to put his hands on her. I hope he doesn’t get blamed for the accident. I think this partnership is not going to last.

Ignacio continues to be a jerk. And I don’t think Cass really wants to hear stuff about him from Eva. She really needs to see for herself what he’s like. He is doing a better job of controlling his temper, but eventually they need to discover he was trying to destroy the business, and their lives.

When the wives get mad in this telenovela the husbands are banned from the bedroom!

Can’t wait for more drama tonight!

Tierra

Thanks Urban, you capture all the frustration I feel. And I definitely saw Marco kiss MT’s shoulder. How can she stand that. She’s going to talk to Marco about finding a buyer. Guess it will be him. But if Esteban changed his will she might not be able to sell.

Not sure how MT is going to end up with Santos. She doesn’t believe in him at all.

I am worried about Camila. Would Marco kill her? Maybe since she’s not the only witness he won’t.

I feel that Norma grew a spine last night. She stood up to Trejo and then questioned Rut.

So when will Susie reappear. I am ready to see the bad guys go down.

Liz

Tierra #51

Marco had no qualms about beating the crap out of Camila when she was pregnant so I definitely can see him killing her if he thought her a threat.

He needs to die.

TIERRA

Liz, thank you so much for mentioning "And I definitely saw Marco kiss MT’s shoulder".

I honestly shivered when I saw that. Not only utterly inappropriate at a funeral, but he made sure to do it in front of Bernarda who was clearly fuming.

As you said Urban "he needs to die".

Diana

Eternamente

Gracias, Jarifa. You knocked this very pivotal episode out of the park. ITA Rogelio is an "everyman," not a galan.

Rogelio doofishly disregarded all Paula's warnings about Violeta, but the bottomline for me on this mortal man is that he didn't cheat and has never had any thoughts about cheating on Paula. That's worth something.

Luis was too quick to want to tell Paula. Influenced by his crush on her?

When Rogelio grabbed Violeta by the shoulders, I was wondering if her friend would record this as evidence. Boy, they sure did pick the wrong location for a confrontation.

Cassandra, being there to ease someone else's shame and pain has not been in Ignacio's wheelhouse. It just didn't compute, but at least he didn't put you down.

Who puts their entire paycheck on scratch-off tickets? I wanted to hit Meliton with nerf balls.

Minas #30

Thanks, Diana.

We know that Emilia's signature was forged. We don't know what else that injection can do to her.

Roberta is getting insanely predictable. These writers could do better.

Men are more easily manipulated by mothers than women and they don't have to be Nico's age for that. Don't ask how I know. I dearly hope Leo doesn't make Sara pregnant now.

ETERNAMENTE

Liz, I do not see the partnership continuing either. In spite of Rogelio complaining about her, JJ cannot see who Violeta is. Maddening!

Niecie, “I want to hit Meliton with nerf balls.” Yes! He is lucky Felipa has stuck with him if that is a sample of what his extracurricular activities are.
