RGV Chick: I'm assuming you're doing the full-scale recap of tonight's Gran Final ?

Notes from the couch . . .
Page 1
Things were boiling and bubbling over tonight.
1. Paula is still depressed crying in her bed.
2. Rogelio tells Fer and Fidel that JJ is moving out and turning over his shares. Fer names Fidel the new comptroller.
3. Imelda tells her father that she quit and Her was right about JJ. She had no feeling for JJ but he sometimes said things that made her feel recognized and important. Rubén says he filled a void in her that Fer couldn't. He still wants to buy Imelda a house. She agrees as long as she can afford the maintenance and tries to make him understand that she needs to be independent, support herself and see how it feels to spend her own money.
4. Beatriz tries to talk the foundation ladies into jumping ship and joining her at her new foundation. It doesn't work because they are loyal to Martina.
5. Ricardo and Cecliia tell Regina that's are novios. Regina jumps for joy.
6. Andrea calls Luis wanting to include him in the wedding plans as the "godfather of the rings." (REALLY?? She and Luis deserve each other. Marcelo better run as fast as he can) He says he doesn't know but asks how can she get married after dating Marcelo for such a short time. She says he makes her feel safe, has determination and doesn't think about things too much. (CLEARLY not Luis)
7. Paula is still moping on her bed as Jazz cries in the other room. Micaela takes care of the baby.
8. Rogelio is worried about Paula but she assures him she is okay and only wants to be left alone. She tells himhe did nothing wrong and asks for the space she gave him.
9. Martina loses contact with reality and introduces herself to Gabriel.
10. Luis comes in and brings her back to reality. He asks for her and Gabriel's advice in reference to Andrea. Gabriel thinks maybe he should admit he is still in love with her. Martina says they have heard this all before from him. Luis is insecure and hasn't done anything yet because he doesn't want to botch it up again. Martina suggests that he be daring ! Look at her and Gabriel!
11. Paula is still crying in her bed. Blanca stops by to tell her how happy Marco is about her pregnancy. Paula is happy for her and reminds her she thought Marco would reject her and that didn't happen. Blanca asks WHO COULD REJECT A BABY? (Paula could answer that question!!) and Paula starts crying again. Blanca tries to comfort her.
Page 2
12. Beatriz knows that Rubén is buying Imelda a house and sarcastically states that it could be the headquarters of her new foundation!! Rubén tells her not to even joke about that. Imelda needs her own space. He is sick of Beatriz trying to be like the Monarca and that she could dedicate herself to more positive things than trying to replace Martina's foundation. He reminds her that they separated once because of her obsession and selfishness. He warns her he is getting tired again and this time there will be no second chances.
13. The ladies from the foundation visit Martina and tell her all about Beatriz trying to get them to join her new foundation. One lady asks Martina if her living at the rest home will affect the foundation. Martina explains the foundation is an institution that can run with or with out her. The ladies are satisfied with her answer. Martina assures them she is doing well.
14. Cecilia visits the still tearful Paula who tells her the true reason for her sorrow. Cecilia promises not to tell anyone. Cecilia advises her not to judge her parents because she has no idea what was going on with her parents way back when. They gave her life and she has a beautiful life now.
15. Martina goes to talk with Gabriel in the common area. She is aggravated because he seems to have come here for a different purpose than she. It seems he came here to play and awaken desire in women. He denies that and says he only came to be with her. Suddenly, she is a young Martina talking to her father and telling him that he knew that she didn't love Onorífico but he made her marry him anyway. She lost Gabriel the only love of her life because of him. Gabriel, answering as her father, apologizes and admits he made a mistake. He will go see Gabriel and explain it was all his fault.
16. Rogelio runs into Cecilia as she leaves Paula. They talk. All Ceciiia can tell Rogelio is that when Paula went to Mexico City , she came back with her mother's diary where she must have read some hurtful things. She will divulge nothing else. Rogelio turns into THE BLOCKHEAD and says that Paula should have told him everything since he is her husband. Cecilia reminds her how he didn't go running to Paula when he found out about Lucas. Of course THE BLOCKHEAD claims that as being DIFFERENT since Paula was pregnant and he didn't want to upset her. (REALLY?) Since he is THE BLOCKHEAD, he decides that Paula must be hiding something to do with her ex-novio. (GOOFY!!) An exasperated Cecilia informs him, just in case he didn't know, that it is Paula's right to decide what she will tell him, why, and how she will tell him anything she wants him to know. She warns him not to force it and learn how to accept things.
17. Beatriz talks to David, a long-time big-time donor to Martina's foundation, to inform that she found out something he needs to know. She has discovered that money was taken from the Monarca foundation and used to shore up the Iturbide Company because of serious financial problems. He stops his donation.
18. Martina is notified by the foundation that David placed a stop on his donation. She is upset because the library will never become a reality without that money.
19. Blanca and Marco come to visit Martina and tell her she is going to have a new grandchild. Martina is overjoyed.
Page 3
20. Paula, Rogelio and Jazz spend a nice day together but BLOCKHEAD Rogelio cannot leave well enough alone and keeps badgering her about what she is keeping from him. She says there is nothing to tell and to stop pressuring her.
21. As Denís stares at Martina and Rogelio from a table across the room, the perpetually annoyed Martina tells Gabriel that finding out that Blanca was pregnant was the sign she needed to affirm that she made a mistake coming to live at the rest home. She needs to go back home to Villa Morelia tomorrow!.
22. Honorio writes a shopping list and puts it on the refrigerator. Micaela compares that writing with the writing of the poems and it matches. She kisses Honorio hard and he kisses her back. Felipa and Melitón congratulate each other.
23. Beatriz talks to a banker about getting a loan for a house that can be the headquarters of her foundation. She is disappointed when she finds out since Rubén has already taken a loan for a house, she would have to provide them with some sort of collateral (like her own house) before they will loan her the money. Beatriz is fuming.
24. Paula tells BLOCKHEAD Rogelio that she is going to Mexico City tomorrow. He asks why? She says there are still things she needs to find out about her past. SUSPICIOUS BLOCKHEAD Rogelio offers to go with her. She turns him down. She is taking an 11:00 a.m. flight (now we know they are not driving or taking the bus!) and will return the same night. BLOCKHEAD "MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO" ROGELIO complains that he feels sidelined by her (we just heard that from her a few episodes back!) because she is keeping something from her past from him. She reminds him that she respected him when he asked her for the same consideration. The REPETITIVE BLOCKHEAD ROGELIO insists that his situation was different because it dealt with what was going on with him RIGHT NOW and not his past. She (and I) cannot believe what she is hearing and she leaves the room.
25. STUPID SUSPICIOUS JEALOUS BLOCKHEAD ROGELIO calls Fidel and ORDERS a reluctant Fidel to go follow Paula in Mexico City.
She "says "she is going to see the woman who used to baby sit her but he is not so sure.
26. Gabriel calls Rogelio and tells him their plan worked. Martina is going home to La Villa tomorrow. Gabriel thanks his friend Denís for putting on such a good act. She is happy she could help. They both laugh.
29. The next day, Paula visits Norma. She tells her that it broke her heart knowing that she wasn't wanted by her parents. Norma says it wasn't like that. Her parents were very young, life was very complicated and they worked 24/7 but loved her a lot. That is why they left her with Norma all the time they did. Paula wants to know if she was happy. Norma says of course she was. Anytime her son played his violin for her, her face lit up. Norma thanks God that her aunt survived. Paula asks survived? What? Norma explains that Eva was in the car with her parents and after the accident, she couldn't stop crying and blaming herself. Paula is incredulous. Norma adds that Eva was severely injured and when she got out of the hospital, she came by and picked Paula up. They never expected to never see her again. Norma's son quit playing his violin because he was so sad that she was gone.. They all cried so much for her.
That is it for me tonight. Please feel free to add whatever was left out.
BEST SCENE: #1 Micaela kissing Honorio
#2 Gabriel thanking Denís
WORST SCENE: Any scene with BLOCKHEAD Rogelio. Another man? That is the best reason for Paula's wish for privacy that the lug head could come up with???
I just realized there were no Cass and Ignacio tonight.
Jarifa, your recap was a sparkling, stunning gem but you elevated it to another level with your witty “BLOCKHEAD” theme. By the time I got to “STUPID SUSPICIOUS JEALOUS BLOCKHEAD ROGELIO” I was literally laughing out loud. Charlie Brown without the charm…marvelous.
Rogelio’s first and only thought should be Paula. He should have immediately backed off, giving her the space she requested, yet assuring her he is and will be there for whatever she needs. Instead, he turns everything around, acting the injured, aggravated party. His feathers are ruffled, hackles up just because Paula had the audacity to ask for time to process her dilemma and to keep her thoughts to herself for the moment. Then he has her followed…what about trust? Talk about a control freak!
“Cecilia advises her not to judge her parents because she has no idea what was going on with her parents way back when. They gave her life and she has a beautiful life now” offered a supportive, understanding yet nonjudgmental perspective. Rogelio should take heed.
I could not believe Denis was in on the “grand plan”!! That was such a surprise. Well, well done writers. These little twists are one of the reasons I’m so enjoying this show. I’m not at all convinced home is the best place for Martina but I will go with the flow…
I smiled away at Micaela’s very passionate kissing of Honorio. Now, if they would only leave it at that with no questions or follow-up discussions, all will be fine! 😊
At this point, Luis is simply annoying. As you noted Jarifa, Andrea “…and Luis deserve each other”.
So Imelda wants to “…be independent, support herself” yet she will allow her father to buy her a house? Does she not understand that home “maintenance” is a far cry from paying rent/mortgage?? Looks like Beatriz is going to end up alone and homeless.
Martina looked schoolmarmish tonight; her starched white collar reminded me of the peter pan ones I had to wear in school. I prefer her softer, silkier shirts.
Diana
Jerrifa, I have a complaint. You didn't include enough nasty adjectives to describe Rogelio!
Seriously though, why is it so hard for him to let her be? I don't get it. What does worry me, though, is that given what he is like, is this going to repeat every time he decides she must tell him things? Because Martina is way older and is still a control freak. Rogelio isn't horrible, but when watching the episode I wondered how one could live with such a person. Is he really that insecure that all he can think is that it's something to do with an ex? Rogelio wants to be the centre of her universe and someone later challenges him on this. But he doesn't seem to realise his wish doesn't have to be granted just because he is Rogelio. I guess he could try stomping his feet. Maybe that will help get his frustration out at least.
I don't know why, but I find it hard to tolerate Paula's actress in these dramatic scenes. I've seen her in another telenovela and just wanted the drama to be over. If her parents really didn't love her, this drama is going to take a while. But if it's true, how did she manage to invent an alternative story in her head? This starts seeming like something Violeta would do. I could see a child inventing things, but that she believes them as an adult is surprising.
Everyone was saying just recently how going to the rest home is the best decision. And it took Martina such a short time to change her mind. I find it funny that her kids did exactly the kind of thing she would have done: made her do what they wanted herto. In their case it's not manipulation but it worked. So much for Martina making a sacrifice for the family. It's annoying how she talked about how she came there because she was making a sacrifice and Gabriel came for female attention. I can't stand her self-absorbtion, especially as what she says isn't even true. She and Rogelio are alike and that's why I don't like either of them. They rub me the wrong way. But Martina's kids have no idea how bad it's going to get.
I feel sorry for Imelda. She now doubts her own skills, which is never nice. But JJ had a huge amount of male arrogance if he thought her issues with Fernando meant she was automatically interested in him.
Did Martina say they only needed to elect a new president of the foundation? Because I didn't catch that specific word.
What is the point of Luis' romance with Andrea? Why did they include something that makes both of them so insufferable and which means everyone takes a stupidity pill and agrees Luis should just tell Andrea he is in love with her. Why do they include so much unnecessary stuff here?
Gracias, Jarifa. You always deliver.
I have to wonder how much angst this episode had for the actors. Watching Martina lose touch with reality was difficult. Her character is only 70 years old. I can also imagine Gabriel thinking how he will have to do what he did for the rest of her life.
But Martina's kids have no idea how bad it's going to get. Truer words were never written. This would also apply to the household staff. In a mansion like this there would need to be at least three adults at home with her at all times. Michaela should request combat pay for that.
It is never easy to face knowing that you were unwanted. Paula should never have read the diary; Norma should not have given it to her. We have seen only a few moments of the very young Paula with her parents. She is likely thinking now that any loving behavior was faked by them and I'm imagining a big blow-up with Eva about how she kept this from her. She will, however, have to get out of this depression before it affects her own children.
May be back later. I need to rewatch the last hour of Tierra for dialogue that moved much faster than my pen.
*Please excuse any typos! I edited quickly as I have to get back to work. I tried to include everything since it’s the finale but please add anything I may have missed!
Rut and Marco end their association and declare every man for himself. They each warn the other that can bring him down and basically agree to stay out of each other’s way, but neither seems convincing.
Cris is looking for Santos, but Geno tells Cris he’s otherwise occupied, we know from Friday night that Santos is occupied in bed with Maria Teresa. Geno is shocked to find out about Pepe’s confession.
MT tells her business team that she’s going to take care of things from the ranch. It’s her home, and she will install better internet, there will be emails and video calls, and business trips! She can still stay on top of things at the company.
Santos and Cris confront Pepe and he pleads for mercy, telling them that he’s sorry. He did it because he needed money for his mom’s treatments. Neither man is moved, he could have come to them. Pepe confirms it’s Marcos who paid him and Santos wants to go right after him, but Cris says they need to go to the cops. Pepe agrees to he will tell all.
The businessmen leave and Nanny and MT celebrate her new happiness with Santos.
Clemente goes to see Camila who happily receives him. He tells her that his mom has an idea that she’d like Cami’s help with, but he will let Norma tell her the specifics. Cami says she’ll be happy to help! She guesses he’s staying in town for a while, he says he has to find out who killed Valetina! Cami is shocked!!! She knew Vale died but she hadn’t heard she was murdered. Clemente tells her that Vale took a bullet meant for either Santos or Maria Teresa and Camila puts two and two together and realizes who did it. She tells Clemente all about Marco’s other attempt on Santos and how on the day Vale died, Marco himself showed up at her house with a gun! He never walks around armed. Plus, he was acting so oddly, Cami is almost positive this explains it, Marco must have killed Vale while aiming for Santos!
Marco finds all his workers headed to work!! Imagine that, lol. He crazily orders them to all get lost! They are confused since they were just trying to work as always, but Marco is clearly losing it (besides we need fewer witnesses for whatever is about to go down).
Santos brings Pepe to confess to MT and at first she’s concerned something could be wrong with him, but when he admits he sold out her ire quickly rises! Pepe lists out every single one of his misdeeds and confesses it was at the orders of Marco. MT loses it!!! The rage coming from that woman was actually impressive!!!! Pepe says he’s willing to declare it all and MT calls the governor’s assistant Rodrigo because she knows she can’t trust Rut, especially if it comes to covering for Marco. Santos and MT go back and forth between demanding Pepe talk and telling him to shut up, but MT wants to know if Marco killed her dad. Pepe says not that he knows but he’s pretty sure that Marco killed Vale. MT’s eyes go wide as Pepe admits he saw Marco on the ranch that day with a gun. Santos says accusingly that he had specifically asked if Pepe saw anyone, but Pepe says he didn’t say anything because he’s a coward, and besides had no idea Vale had been shot at the time when Santos asked him. After hearing Marco killed her sister, MT is ready to take matters into her own hands. Forget Rodrigo and the police, Marco is going to deal with her directly! She storms out, ordering that Pepe be left with two men to guard him.
Rut is in his office with Trejo discussing how Marco must have killed Adri so he’s not planning to stay out of Marco’s path as he had said. He orders Trejo to get the files together and to put on his uniform since Rut can’t take him seriously in civies! I guess thinking is over and Trejo has his job back.
The miraculously still alive Irasema comes into Rut’s office to make the same accusation against Marco for killing Adriana and Rut sends her to the newly reinstated Trejo to make her statement. Trejo takes her statement, but Irasema is stunning when Trejo tells her no after she asks if she can leave. Irasema is arrested for her role in the prostitution ring. (at least she won’t have to wonder where she’s going to sleep and how she’s going to eat)
Trejo is having his most popular day in the office ever, and almost before the door can shut behind Irasema, Clemente brings Camila in to declare what she knows about Marco and Vale’s death. Trejo thinks this makes all the sense in the world and excitedly takes Cami’s statement.
Norma goes to talk to Remedios, and they catch up. Norma tells Remedios all about her new plan to help women in danger. She wants to open her own home up for women who are stuck in bad relationships and have nowhere to go.
Bernarda stares at Vale’s picture for a few minutes and just as she’s about to walk out, Clemente arrives and for some reason tells her that Marco is the one who killed Valentina!!!! (I mean I wouldn’t have given her that info until my theory of the crime was a known fact) He does add that they believe the bullet was meant for Santos, but I don’t think Bernarda hears or cares. She takes off with her handy shotgun, of course; and Regina comes running wanting to know where Bernarda is going. Clemente tells Regina that Marco is the one who killed Vale and Regina screams out loud in pain! She proceeds to cry loudly and unconsolably.
Cris and Geno watch Pepe and they too hear that Marco killed Vale. Cris screams at a crying Pepe that Vale’s death is his fault!!! Pepe tries to deny it but there’s not much he can say – both because he has no defense and because no one is allowing him much space to speak. Nani comes in and finds out the newest as well. She’s told and MT and Santos went to confront the devil.
MT does just that, which is stupid, but high-running emotions are bad advisors. She screams that he’s responsible for everything and accuses him of killing Valentina! Marco denies it, but we are way past that stage! MT decks Marco good!!!! Santos gets between them when Marco goes to respond, telling Marco he better not touch MT. MT says Pepe confessed everything and Marco pretends he doesn’t know any Pepe. MT tells him to drop the act, it’s over. Marco turns around and grabs a knife lying behind him – it looks like he’s about to take MT’s advice!!!!
After the commercial break, Marco starts to provoke both MT and Santos with his knife, but other than throwing around insults and waving the knife a time or two rather drunkenly, Marco does nothing. He ends up walking and then drives away! He doesn’t get far though, because Bernarda is standing in his driveway with her shotgun!!! Marco gets out and asks what she is doing. She answers, where do you think you are going bastard?
Clemente continues to hold and attempts to comfort a sobbing Regina. He explains to her that he believes Marco was trying to kill Santos and Vale just got in the way. Regina wants to know why Marco would kill Santos and Clemente says it’s a long story and has something to do with the access to the river.
Bernarda demands to know why Marco did it. She asks if it was revenge or if he did it because of learning Vale was Esteban’s daughter? Wasn’t it enough that he ruined her life? Marco starts off saying he didn’t do it, but he ends up admitting it!! He says he’s still in love with Bernarda and he wouldn’t be capable of hurting Vale on purpose. Bernarda tells him he’s not capable of loving anyone, but he repeats that he still loves her and he would have given his life for Vale!!! The bullet was meant for Santos!!! Vale came out of nowhere, he never saw her! It was an accident.
Back at Grand Central Station, I mean the police department, Trejo brings Rut two files. One is on the death of Adriana and the other is the death of Vale. Rut is surprised and asks Trejo where this came from. He picks up the file but barely glances at it as Trejo tells him that Clemente brought the case in practically solved!! Good enough, Rut shrugs, oh and don’t forget to add the death of Esteban to his tab. Trejo says they don’t have the proof for that, but Rut is sure that Marco did it and orders Trejo to get it done!
Marco begs for forgiveness, but Bernarda will NEVER forgive him!!! Seeing there’s no way out, Marco is ready to leave. Bernarda tells him to freeze, trying to keep him from getting in the car; but he doesn’t believe she will shoot so he gets in anyway. There’s a brief game of chicken as Marco tells Bernarda to get out of the way and she refuses. He starts to drive and a shot rings out right as Bernarda rolls out of the way!!!! I thought She fired wildly (I think I flinched and looked away), but the car stops after and few feet and when Bernarda runs to open the driver’s door we see Marco is shot!!!!! Straight in the chest! Santos and MT come up saying nothing more than ‘Bernarda’ as they get a glimpse of Marco either dead or bleeding out in the driver’s seat of his car.
Regina wants to run after mom because she’s worried that Bernarda will be hurt and she couldn’t stand it if something happened to Bernarda, who is all she has left. Clemente stops her, and they continue their uneasy wait from home.
Bernarda is going into shock and saying ‘I killed him’ but MT is fierce and insistent. “Listen to me,” She demands. “He was trying to run you over and you had no choice! It was self-defense, Santos and I are you witnesses!!!” Santos agrees and Bernarda repeats, I didn’t want to, he left me no choice.
Remedios and Camila are meeting in the shop and talking about the new events. Cami says Remedios never liked her plan but it served a purpose, because now they know who killed Vale. Remedios says it’s good that they can get justice. These people need to be off the streets, not just running around hurting innocent people. But she doesn’t want Cami to live or act out of bitterness or revenge. Cami agrees, she’s done with this. In fact, she wants to move out of town and go somewhere where she can start over without the shadow of Marco hanging over her. Remedios says Cami can stay with her, but Cami says the death of Esteban is still unsolved and Marco will know she informed on him, she needs to go.
Trejo arrives with officers and MT repeats the story that Bernarda killed Marco in self-defense. Bernarda starts to say Marco killed Vale, but this time Trejo stops her and tells her no more. It was self-defense, he instructs her plainly. He tried to kill you and you defended yourself, that’s all. Bernarda tries to say more but Trejo reiterates the self-defense narrative and tells Bernarda she even has witnesses! He looks to his men and says this woman was the victim of an attempted homicide, check her out! They run to help Bernarda.
Meanwhile, Rut meets with Rodrigo and catches him up on all the new developments. Giving him the Marco did all of it version, of course. Rodrigo congratulates Rut on a job well done and just makes it clear he wants the full report! Of course, Rut agrees. The men shake hands. (I still wonder if Rodrigo is as dumb as he’s seeming to be or if he’s playing Rut)
Bernarda and MT come home to an anxiously waiting Regina. They say Marco is dead and Clemente says he’ll leave to give them privacy. Bernarda tells Clemente they should talk sometime soon. After Clemente leaves, MT tells Bernarda she needs to get some rest as this day has been a lot for her. Bernarda thanks MT for her support and tells her she sincerely wishes her happiness with Santos. Regina adds that Vale knew that MT and Santos were in love. MT pauses and then says thank you before walking away.
Santos drags Pepe in to see Trejo next! He’s an accomplice of Marco and he’s here to declare, Santos tells Trejo. Trejo asks if that’s true and Pepe says yes. Trejo comments this is going to be a long night and sits down to take Pepe’s statement.
Back at the main house, MT fills in Nanny. Nani can’t believe one man can be so evil and MT says Santos was always right about him. She can’t believe she was actually considering a serious relationship with Marco, but Nani points out that MT’s heart was always with Santos. MT has one doubt left, did Marco kill her dad? Nani says probably but MT isn’t so sure. It doesn’t make sense, Marco was being all buddy buddy with Este because he was supposedly in love with MT, why would he kill Esteban?
Cris and Geno are walking and talking about how sometimes you just don’t know some people. Geno says Cris can always count on her because she is his best friend! Friends? Cris isn’t so sure, friends don’t kiss or fall in love. Maybe Geno shouldn’t be his friend, maybe she should be his girlfriend! Will you? He asks, and Geno enthusiastically agrees!!! They kiss!
Cami, Remedios and Norma are now all together in someone’s living room discussing Cami’s new plans. Norma is sorry she’s leaving since she would have loved to have her help with the new project to rescue women in bad domestic situations; but Cami knows Norma is strong and capable and will do a wonderful job without her. Clemente enters and tells them Marco is dead. He doesn’t give any specifics about the way he died just says he was killed trying to escape. Cami thinks death is too good for Marco, and I agree! When Clemente hears Cami’s plan to leave he points out she doesn’t need to now, but Cami’s plans are unchanged. She needs a new start!
Santos comes back and updates MT about Pepe’s declaration. They vent again that one of their own was behind this and they wonder if Pepe really needed money that badly, but who knows? One thing Santos knows, and it will never change; and that’s how much he loves MT. They kiss and MT teases him about calling her ‘usted’, he repeats the sentiment using this time saying ‘tu’ as the kissing continues.
And there the first hour ends.
Darcy: AWESOME job on Part 1 of the recap of last night's Gran Final.
Looking forward to seeing Part 2 of your recap.
Steve Boudreaux
Thanks Jarifa, I loved all the capitalized adjectives to describe Rogelio. If Paula finds out he had her followed by Fidel it will take the rest of the episodes for her to forgive him, if she ever does.
Beatrice is stooping really low. I guess she can be considered a villain now. I hope she does lose her husband and all her friends. What a horrible woman!
What a surprise to find out Denis was in on a plan to get Martina home. A fun twist to this story.
I also enjoyed Micaela comparing the handwriting and giving Honorio a big kiss. Poetry must be more powerful than I thought!
Liz
Darcy, your marvelous recap was gripping in its intensity, reflecting all of the on the edge of your seat action perfectly.
Your always insightful comments including “high-running emotions are bad advisors” were the perfect accompaniment. “The miraculously still alive Irasema” indeed!
Maria Teresa roared to life, incensed, and inflamed at Pepe’s betrayal. Her face inflamed with anger; she was a righteous sight to behold.
It seemed fitting that Marco went out as the drunken, pathetic, soulless murderer he was. Not felled in a haze of bullets, but rather one, aimed at his nonexistent heart, fired in self-defense by the person who loved him. Fitting justice indeed.
“Trejo is having his most popular day in the office ever” was exactly right and he dispatched his duties with quick and quiet efficiency. Seeing Bernarda’s situation exactly the way it was showed that while he has certainly not been the most honest person, he defended the truth staunchly here.
Camila made the right decision. Leave the ghosts of her past behind.
“Rut shrugs, oh and don’t forget to add the death of Esteban to his tab”. He really thought he would slip that in seamlessly didn’t he? Not so fast…
Darcy, thank you for this and for your other sensational recaps for Tierra!
Diana
Episode 65, Finale hour #2: Part 1 of 3
Trejo finished taking Pepe's statement. He told him he was an accomplice but that his giving evidence would be taken into consideration. He asked whether he had evidence that Marco killed Esteban and Pepe said he did not. However he considered it likely because Marco would do anything to get the property. Two uniformed cops entered to mirandize Pepe and take him to his cell. Rodrigo came in and shook Trejo's hand for closing the case. Trejo was still nervous.
Clemente told Norma that Bernarda accepted him and that he regarded her as a good person. Norma said it was likely to take a little time, as Bernarda had suffered much. Rut showed up to ask Norma's forgiveness. She would not give it. Ever. He tried pulling the Family Man Card but they refused to play the game. He even tried to justify his treatment of Clemente who called him out on his lack of empathy and affection. He declared he as going to protect his mother and told him to leave. Norma told Rut to leave, saying they never wanted to see him again. Clemente told him that all his life Rut had only abused them and then repeated his demand. He then stood at the door as Norma sat down to finish her dinner. Rut said no more. He started to cry as he turned and handed his keys to Clemente on his way out. Sad flamenco music marked Rut's exit. [Norma, change the locks anyway.]
The next day Bernarda told Regina that her own silence had hurt many people. Regina told her she felt guilty for this. Regina told her that that was how she managed with things that were too much for her. Bernarda said she had been too young and vulnerable, but now things were changing. She dried her cheeks of her tears and now was the time to put things at an end. She got up and walked off. [Note the flying bird on her necklace.]
Santos brought Remedios flowers and asked her if she remembered his mother's request. She did and hugged him.
Clemente typed up the interview notes that Rodrigo was coming for. Trejo told him Rodrigo was never late. Clemente asked about the murder of Esteban and that was not yet closed. Rut had accused Marco, and Clemente considered that possible. He finished typing the report.
Bernarda entered Rut's office and he had the gall to ask if she regretted having rejected him. She told him she would not be silent any longer and would denounce him for the rape. He tried gaslighting her. He said his scarred hand was because she was crazy. [Very little gets me angrier than a rapist further violating a victim.] She accused him of having killed Esteban, as he had the motive. She intended to go to the capital. [Bernarda, this disclosure is not smart.] He laughed at her, saying she had no proof. He called her a liar. She called him a coward. He grabbed her throat, shoved her against the wall, and threatened to kill her. He began choking her single-handed. She did not back down, saying that if she died everyone would know he did it. She collapsed on the floor. Fortunately, Trejo arrived just in time. She told him that Rut was Esteban's killer. Rut denied it and claimed she had been making up lies about him for years. Bernarda swore he killed Esteban who knew what he had done to her. Rut said she was crazy and that she killed Esteban for Valentina's inheritance and demanded that Trejo arrest her for that and for slander. Trejo paused, looked at one, the other, and then started to take out the cuffs.
Episode 65, Finale hour #2: Part 2 of 3
Rodrigo came into the station to pick up the reports. He then and saw two of Clemente's drawings. He was impressed and told Clemente “My wife works in a gallery, a new one in Mexico City. An important one. If you like I can put you in touch with them.” [¡Que suerte por Clemente!] He accepted and they went to Rut's office...
...where Trejo did a quick about-fact while drawing his pistol, which he aimed at Rut while accusing him of killing Esteban. He was the one with the motive. Further Trejo knew he had done things that hurt all the people of the town. Rut gave orders Trejo ignored.
Genoveva entered the patio smiling as Maria Teresa and Nani talked about love. Genoveva said that love was contagious. Maria Teresa was happy for them. Cris came running up about some of the animals being nervous so they could not take any of them out. Maria Teresa got up and left with him.
Trejo cuffed Rut who began cursing him as Rodrigo and Clemente arrived, Bernarda told Rodrigo that Rut killed Esteban and admitted it to her. Trejo said he had suspected but didn't have proof. Rut called them both liars but Trejo revealed that Rut was involved in various illegal activities. Clemente was shocked.
Santos and Maria Teresa walked around the ranch, talking. [Again, wht's with the short skirt and high western boots?] He said he should be keeping an eye on the animals that seemed to have been upset at Bernarda's absence. They will be better when they see her. “Just as I'm calmer with your love and patience.” She thought this strange. He suggested they go together; it was a surprise.
Trejo admitted his involvement in some of these things and was prepared to take responsibility for it. Rut kept trying to say that this was a lie. He also said he saw Rut trying choking Bernarda. Rodrigo instructed the state police to also take Trejo. Rut had the further gall to ask/tell Clemente to help him. He did not, of course, saying “It hurts my soul top see you like this, Papa. But I can't believe how much I was mistaken about you.” Trjo cried as he asked Clemente's pardon. Clemente told him he did the right thing and he would never forget what he'd done for him. He cried as they were led out and Bernarda hugged him.
Santos and Maria Teresa stopped by the flowers and he told her how his feelings were stronger than any wild animal. It is the life force. He then knelt before her and gave her the engagement ring his father had given his mother. It was all he had from his family. He proposed. She answered “Only if it's forever.” She accepted; no teasing and no games were played.
Rut threatened Trejo as they were taken to the police vehicle, seen by numerous townspeople. Rodrigo thanked Bernarda. Clemente said his father would have to pay for his crimes. Rodrigo said he needed to see Maria Teresa because she had to know who killed her father. Clemente cried as he left.
Santos announced the good news to all at La Esperanza. All were happy. Nani said that soon the hacienda will be full of children [Really, this comment does get old] and said to Cris and Genoveva that they will be contributing to that.
Episode 65, Finale hour #2: Part 3 of 3
Clemente went home and told Norma all of Rut's sins. She was shocked at such a long-term deception, then said he would have to pay for them alone. She would henceforth have nothing more to do with him.
Santos visited Remedios to tell her the good news. She cried, saying she had promised his mother that she would raise him to be a good man. He thanked her for that. She had guarded the ring and said that he will be a good husband. “With my life, if necessary,” he replied. [We are now thanking the composer for a happy-sounding leitmotif as they hugged.]
Rodrigo arrived to tell Maria Teresa that Rut had killed Esteban in addition to a list of other crimes, including raping Bernarda. She said her father could never tolerate the abuse of women and that she would call her lawyer to ensure that Rut would never go free. [How can he do that other than throwing the case? Not that he would take it in the first place.]
Bernarda put fresh flowers on Valentina's grave. She asked her forgiveness for how things turned out. She had not wanted to kill Marco but she could not stand the pain. “He had to pay for what he did. The same for Rutillio for destroying my life. But you know what? I'm at peace now and I hope you are resting in peace, my beautiful girl.”
A few weeks later Maria Teresa woke up on her wedding day, looked at her dress, and spoke to the photo of her mother. She talked about her loving the land, and “why did it cost you so much to stay here, Papa?” and despite that she would complete her promise to Valentina that she would now be happy. She was on the brink of tears when Nani came in and there was more talk of future happiness.
In the capital Rt was taken to a cell protesting he was mayor of Puerto Brave and other pomposities. He was already in uniform and the other men in the cell looked like they were going to have a good time when the guards locked up and left. [Where is Trejo now? Enquiring minds want to know.]
The wedding was outdoors and the guests were almost seated. Cris teased Santos who was splendidly dressed in a white jacket and shirt with a black bolo tie and a white Stetson, like a proper hacendado/. Maria Teresa came down the aisle in her bridal gown looking like a movie star, cleavage and all, with a simple diamond solitaire pendant and matching stud earrings. Remedios did a reading and the ceremony took place. Genoveva and Regina put on the lazo, Nani and Remedios cried tears of joy. Applause at the prolonged bridal kiss. Genoveva speculated to Cris that they would have beautiful children... like they soon would. Cris was happy at this news. At least two other female guests were visibly pregnant. Bernarda and Norma both wore lovely flowered dresses. Norma was very positive in her new life without Rut.
Clemente and Regina told Bernarda they would like to live together. Bernarda gave her blessing and hugged them. Regina spoke for the first time, saying “Te amo” to Clemente. [Yay!] He told her “Te amo más.” They kissed and Bernarda shed happy tears.
Later Maria Teresa told Santos she was the happiest woman in the world. She had never thought upon arrival about how much her life would change. She said how much she loved him because he taught her never to give up hope.
FIN
Gracias, Darcy for your expert assistance on this very traditional ranch fairy tale and thanks, amigos, for watching! I will take a recapping hiatus for a while because I'd like to be able to watch without taking note for a change. Had this one had a lesser cast I would not have been tempted to get back into recapping so soon after 90 full episodes of PNP.
I agree that Marco got off relatively easily. He would have deserved what is awaiting Rutilio. That would have sent him straight to the funny farm. I am disappointed that we don't know Trejo's ultimate fate or the identity of Regina's biological parents.
My theory is that we're back to finale weddings now that the pandemic is just about over and people need the FPS.
I was surprised that Maria Teresa's bridal attire wasn't more like these. This actress had a fabulous wardrobe in this series and it suited her perfectly. My two disappointments were the short dresses with the high boots; that's a bad combination. I also like that her blonde hair looked natural and not like other recent ones with the fake black roots.
Kudos to the cast for their performances.
Thanks, Diana, I am glad you enjoyed the recap. "I could not believe Denis was in on the “grand plan”!! That was such a surprise. Well, well done writers. These little twists are one of the reasons I’m so enjoying this show. You are so right! The writers are doing a great job in keeping this interesting and way beyond what I ever expected.
waterlily, "Jerrifa, I have a complaint. You didn't include enough nasty adjectives to describe Rogelio!" You had me laughing! Yeah, Rogelio isn't an evil man, just a BLOCKHEAD." The characters in this novela are so very human with all their good qualities and also deficiencies on display.
Thanks, Urban. "It is never easy to face knowing that you were unwanted." You hit it on the head. I made fun of all of the crying scenes but Paula had the rug literally pulled out from under her. How to recreate a new story for herself of who she is and where she is from are the question she has to deal with.
Liz, thanks. There are times I just cannot help getting silly when i am writing these recaps. "If Paula finds out he had her followed by Fidel it will take the rest of the episodes for her to forgive him, if she ever does." He is really going to jeopardize his relationship with that stupid move. He was so obnoxious when he could find excuses for his own behavior but not for anybody else's. The BLOCKHEAD needs to be taken down a peg or two. I hope Paula is successful in doing that once and for all in teh next nine episodes.
UA: Thank you very much for the full-scale recap of last night's Gran Final. I would also like to thank Darcy for your part in giving us the 1st half recap of last night's Gran Final too.
My personal thoughts:
1.) Assuming Pepe the Coward went to prison for his complicity in Marco's crimes against humanity, etc.,
2.) The Triple Arrests of Irasema, Rutillo & Trejo: all in the 2-HR Gran Final last night. I wonder who'll replace Rutillo in office & Trejo as the Police Chief ?
3.) Bernarda fired one good shot with that handy shotgun: BANG! Just like that, Creepy Marco FINALLY dies!
4.) Noticed the dates on Valentina's grave at the cemetery: Did it say 2023 ?
5.) Genoveva is PREGGERS HORRAY & Cris is super excited.
6.) Norma FINALLY free of Rutillo.
7.) Santos & Maria Teresa FINALLY getting married in a beautiful wedding ceremony.
8.) Camila getting out of town after getting news about Creepy Marco's death. She's better off moving on with her life & I don't blame her one bit.
9.) Clemente & Regina being happily ever after. I was so happy to watch Regina speak her first words "Te amo" to Clemente as Bernarda was teary-eyed watching this.
10.) Wondering who's going to run the company back in the DF ?
11.) UA & Darcy: I was disappointed that we never got the real story about what was Trejo's prison sentence since he was removed as Police Chief.
12.) Clarisa Gonzalez did an AWESOME job portraying Regina Rangel. The entire cast & crew did good & super amazing jobs in this great Telenovela with 60 episodes!
Urban, thank you for this and all of the superior recaps you have bestowed on us. Detailed, well written and wonderful, all. Ahhh, “pomposities”! Your command of the English language is as marvelous as that of Spanish.
Your penchant for details included “[Note the flying bird on her necklace.]” which was perfect.
Your humor was on point with “Sad flamenco music marked Rut's exit. [Norma, change the locks anyway.]”
Rut’s high and mighty demeanor in prison will likely bring him down a notch or two…final justice may not be a life’s sentence.
Some peace for Bernarda’s broken heart; acceptance of Regina and Clemente living together is a huge step forward.
Santos and Maria Teresa’s happy ending. Her hair picture perfect tied gently with a headband, loose down her shoulders. Her veil with a smattering of sparkling embroidery was lovely. Her dress had buttons down her back and she looked stunning.
My only criticism is Trejo’s storyline. Not only what happened to him but what if any, his relationship was to Regina. We got a glimpse of a potential storyline and then nothing further.
Urban, there is little else to say. You said it all, and beautifully. Thank you.
Diana

Thank you Jarifa! I appreciate your notes from the couch as always! I am a little late to the party, the good part of having a super busy day at work is you blink and it's already 3pm!! The bad part is no time to read or comment on your wonderful recap.
Along with everything else that everyone said, the thing that bugs me most about Rogelio's behavior is that he doesn't seem to care how Paula is feeling. She's clearly upset, and he's not wondering what is wrong, how can I help? Can I do something to make you feel better? Why is my wife so sad? ect ect. He's thinking about himself. Why won't you tell ME? What are you hiding from ME? ME, me, me, me, me!!! At least when Paula was overbearing she was concerned about Rogelio!!! And another man??? What kind of sense that's that make?? I wonder if the actor had a hard time speaking his lines with a straight face...
Yay for Michela and Honorio!!!
Nice twist that Denis and Gabriel were plotting together, I bet she had fun playing that role.
Thanks, Darcy and Urban, for bringing two excellent recaps of the finale. I grew up on Westerns and I enjoyed this one. La Esperanza was really beautiful. Lots of nice green lawns. Not like the ranches in those old tv shows.
I was pleased with the ending for the most part. I was sure the Jackle would have a part in this, but apparently he left for good when Marco yelled at them to leave.
I want to know what happens to Trejo. And I really had hopes he would discover he was Regina’s biological dad. He was so good with Clemente he deserves to have a child!
I always think they should have a HEA ending where you see what happened after. I want Clemente to have a successful art show. Norma’s project to get started and other things to tie up the characters’ lives. Kind of a “where are they now”.
Thanks again for the excellent recapping of this telenovela.
Liz
Thank you Urban for bringing us the finale and for all the hard work you've done on this show! It was a fun one, and I loved how (for the most part) it was much more positive and respectful then the traditional novela.
I am still disappointed that Valentina was killed off. It was last week but I haven't gotten over it. I know killing her was the easiest solution, but she was so young and had never really been off Esperanza. She had just found out her parentage and was an heiress. She could have gotten off the ranch and gone to college or to the city to learn daddy's business; she could have met someone else. First loves are hard to get over but a lot of people do get over them and many many people fall madly in love with love #2 (or 3 or 6) and live happily ever after - I just don't buy the idea that as long as Vale was alive she would have had to be in love with Santos and thus the triangle wouldn't die.
Oh well, moving on to the actual events of last night. As far as finales go, it was mostly satisfying. I echo the wish of knowing what happened to Trejo...I suppose it's good that he didn't just skate, but I think it would have been hilarious if he never admitted his own misdoings and Rut was carried off screaming Trejo is guilty too, but no one believed him - poetic justice!!! :)
As I said in the recap, I think Marco's death was too easy, but I agree with you Urban in that being shot in the non-existent heart by the one he loved has a certain satisfaction.
Santos and MT's wedding kiss was exceptionally long!!! I have never seen a wedding kiss last that long, it's not just extended, it's the extra-extended uncut verson! LOL
The cast was wonderful and the production was beautiful, it was nice to end with Regina's first words of Te Amo to Clemente!
Urban, I've tried to post my comment twice without success.
I've contacted Rgv Chick and asked her to please post it when she can.
I apologize....
Diana
Urban and Darcy, thank you both for those superb final recaps and for all the time , talent, and effort that you both put into providing us with wonderful recaps despite your busy lives.
I, too, am still bummed that the writers decided to kill off Val. Sad.
These writers have decided to keep this show bubbling until the very end.
Beatriz is a bitter woman chasing her dream of being Monarcha and wasting the time she could be spending with her family . Some people throw away happiness with both hands, while wise folks make a bouquet with the flowers at hand.
I never suspected that Denis was working with Gabriel.
Martina has a,sad condition , but she is lucky to have a loving family, her teen love Gabriel, and servants who will care for her and love her .
As for Luis and Andrea...basta. Just go your separate ways . I am tired if their drama.
Rog isn't so easy to love, but Paula does love him. They will be okay. Maybe he will relax a bit if he becomes a chef ...if that is what he truly wants to do. My friend John used to tell me " Everybody hates their jobs. That's why they call it work. " I think it used to make him mad when I told him I loved to teach.
Love Young and in love Marco and Blanca.
Notes from the couch . . .
Page 1
There was WAAAAY too much talking and not enough action tonight. My brain is fried.
1. Paula is overwhelmed and wonders why Eva never told her the truth about the accident. Paula leaves Norma's place in tears to go see her aunt. Fidel hides behind a tree spying on her. She pauses and after seeing a girl pass by with her mother, she remembers more accurately what happened with the crown of flowers. Paula was seated on a park bench looking on sadly at her parents who were talking. Another girl approached the woman with the crown of flowers. The other girl was given the crown of flowers, not her. It never was for her. She hurries away.
2. Cass highlights "Marriage License"on the requirements for adoption. Cass and Ignacio both seem to be interested in possibly adopting the little girl they saw at the orphanage.
3. Felipa and Melitón leave Micaela and Honorio alone. As soon as they are out of the door, Micaela and Honorio smooch. Honorio asks Micaela what changed her mind about him so quickly. She always wanted to fall in love with poet and his words touched her heart. Honorio looks puzzled. She says they were so lovely. He smiles and agrees as she goes to get his poems which are hidden inside of a jar of dried beans. She takes out one of the poems out and reads it out loud to him. As she fans herself to cool off her passion, Honorio excuses himself for a second and discovers that his poems are no longer under his bed. He thinks back on the plumbing malfunction and knows who the culprit is: Melitón. He confronts Melitón who at first denies doing anything but quickly admits that he and Felipa hatched a plan to get Honorio together with Micaela. Melitón thinks that Honorio is going to hit him but he ends up hugging his and thanking him for making him the happiest man in the world.
4. Earlier, Ignacio was on the phone talking about some land. Now we find out that he was negotiating for more land to facilitate Marco's project. Blanca hasn't heard anything about the lawsuit. Marco says it will take time.
5. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio calls Fidel who tells him that Paula just arrived a the airport to fly home. Fidel cannot say who she visited, but when she left the building she had been very affected by something. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio goes on again wondering why she is leaving him out of all this. Fidel thinks he should be more understanding. Rogelio cuts him off and tells him to ask Eva if his suspicions are valid or if Paula really went see her old baby sitter.
6. David calls Rogelio about the issue that Beatriz brought up. David says he put a stop on his donation until he checked out the allegation with him. He tells her what Beatriz said and Rogelio tells him it is absurd. He says his finances at the company are an open book and offers to let him do an audit any time. David suggests that he tell his mother. Rogelio will.
7. Imelda's children are having a hard time being away from their father. Beatriz says that is understandable but it is no reason to take a step backwards. Imelda cannot be insensitive to her children. She doesn't want to hurt them by her actions. Imelda's father calls her to go and see a house he has picked for her. Beatriz offers to take care of the kids. Fernando has been thinking about Imelda and is outside of her house when she leaves. He follows her. He sees her meet with realtors outside a house that is for sale.
8. Martina and Gabriel say goodbye to the rest home. Rogelio is there to pick them up. Only Lucas knows they are moving back. it will be surprise for everyone. Before they go home, he is taking them out to coffee so he can talk to his mother about the foundation.
9. Rogelio fills Martina in on Beatriz's activity. She decides to go see Beatriz NOW and put a stop to her. With her illness, she cannot afford to wait. She is ready to tell her off and put her in her place.
Page 2
10. Fidel gets home and Eva wants to know what he was doing in Mexico City. OF COURSE, Paula is just arriving at Eva's and overhears EVERYTHING. Fidel tells Eva that Rogelio sent him to follow Paula. He asks Eva to tell him who Paula visited. She answers that she went to visit Norma who was her babysitter. Fidel goes to tell Rogelio. He opens the door and Paula storms in.
11. Paula confronts Eva and asks if she is going to keep telling her lies like she wasn't in the accident where her parents died. Eva asks Fidel to take the baby with him.
12. Fidel calls BLOCKHEAD Rogelio to tell him that Eva said that Paula went to see Norma her old babysitter. Fidel says Paula found out that he sent him to follow her and she got very angry. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio asks how that happened. Fidel says she overheard him talking to Eva. He never suspected that she was headed there to see her aunt. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio says he is heading right over and not to let Paula leave. (REALLY??? Guess BLOCKHEAD FIDEL could always declare : "I was only following orders" kidnapping" her?? Give me a break!)
13. Gabriel tells BLOCKHEAD Rogelio that he will wait for Martina to finish talking to Beatriz as Rogelio is heading over to Eva's. Rogelio will send Honorio to pick them up.
14. Paula asks Eva face to face what was she was doing in the accident and why she never told her. Eva says before she tells her what happened, she wants to let her know that she never told her because she was afraid she would lose her. She swears she would have given her own life to avoid what happened Eva explains that she owed money to a very powerful and dangerous man from the bar where she used to work. She had to dance at night to pay him back. One day she didn't want to do it anymore and they threw her out into the street but they didn't forget about the debt. She tried to run away but they found her and then blamed her for the death of the owner of the bar's brother. She swears that she had nothing to do with it. When they found her, they threatened to kill her. Paula's mother Ana found out and wanted to protect her. As they all were fleeing, the accident happened. Paula says besides finding out that her parents didn't want her, it breaks her heart that Eva lied to her all of these years. Paula feels that she doesn't know her. Eva tries to convince her that her parents loved her very much. As for the rest of it, Eva hasn't spent a day without feeling guilty for what happened. Paula doesn't want to hear any more. For her, Eva is as dead as she would have been if she had died on the same day as her parents. As Eva begs her to forgive her, Paula turns and leaves. Eva is hysterical.
15. Beatriz is not happy that Martina came without calling first. Martina says she is there having discovered that Beatriz likes to stick her nose in other peoples' business and lie more than anything. Martina is surprised that Beatriz thinks she is going to sink her with her cheap tricks. Beatriz has no idea what she is talking about and orders her to leave. Martina takes a step forward and warns her that she has found out what she tried to pull and that she will not be successful. Nothing that she will do will affect the foundation. Beatriz says unless they find out about an accounting problem or there is something wrong with the foundation's president. . . Martina takes another step forward and tells her she doesn't know how very sorry she feels for her. Martina leaves with a smile.
16. Fidel, with his baby in his buggy goes chasing Paula down the street trying to get her to stay until Rogelio arrives but she isn't playing that game. She tells him to stay out of her business and to shut up. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio arrives on the scene and is aggravated that Fidel didn't stop Paula from leaving. (Really? What j*ck*ssery!)
Page 3
17. BLOCKHEAD STALKER Fernando goes into the house that Imelda is looking at. She asks what he is doing there. He says he went to go see her at her parents' home. She surmises that he followed her. She plans on buying this house with her father's help. Fernando didn't see that coming but admits it is her decision and he will try to respect it. He has to ask her if she felt something when JJ told her he loved her. She refuses to reduce their separation to this. He knows very well that their marriage did not end because of another man. He realizes all of the hurt he caused her. He is sorry. He wants to know if they still have some hope of getting back together. She admits that they both made mistakes but he never met her emotional needs. She is sick of being scolded for everything and being told that she has to do. She can't deal with it anymore. She will never let anyone force her to do something she doesn't want to do again. He wants them to try agin. She says it all sounds lovely but is too late.
18. Fidel wants to know why Eva never told him about having been in the accident. She didn't lie to him and reminds him that she told him that Paula's parents had died in an accident because of her. He says she never got into the details and he asked her to be completely honest with him.She says enough. She has paid with losing her Paula and carrying the guilt all of these years. She cannot take him punishing her, too. He says that maybe had he known the whole situation they could have avoided this whole mess. Paula says that doesn't work. For years she tried to protect Paula by assuming all of the pain and blame. She wanted Paula to be free from suffering but that isn't what happened. Fidel asks her if there is something else that he should know. She says no. Fidel lets her know that he is there for her.
19. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio is beserk trying to find Paula. He calls Micaela who says she isn't at the house. He keeps searching.
20. Ricardo and Cecilia are in the midst of a fun romantic situation when Paula comes calling. Ricardo takes one look at her and knows it is his cue to leave and he does. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio calls Paula but she refuses to answer. Ceciiia asks what is wrong. Paula says it seems like in a second, she learned that nobody ever loved her and that all of her life has been a lie. Paula says she went to talk to Norma who told her that Eva had been in the accident with her parents. Eva herself confessed that her parents died because of her because of some men who were pursuing HER. Paula then realized that the memory of that little girl she had wasn't of her but of the girl she wanted to be. Cecilia is so very sorry seeing her like that. Paula says her memories and nothing of her past is real. She didn't even know anything about her aunt's past. Then Rogelio won't stop looking for her. She doesn't want to talk to him. He doesn't respect her need for space. No, their marriage isn't in the best place but she needs time and space. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio then calls Cecilia. She answers and lies to him. Paula isn't there. She is with Ricardo. Cecilia then has something to confess to Paula. A short time ago, Eva told her about her past. She had no idea that Paula didn't know. She apologizes. Paula asks why she didn't tell her. Cecilia says because Eva told her it wasn't her place to tell her and she thought that Eva was going to tell her. Paula concludes that she is the only on who knows nothing evidently and she leaves.
Page 4
21. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio talks to Pedro saying he feels lost. He doesn't know what to do. It is a hard time. Pedro says growing up with such responsibility , Rogelio never had a chance to discover who he really is. Rogelio agrees and adds how difficult it is watching his mother fade away little by little. He feels like he is losing her. Pedro is sorry for him but the only thing we know for sure when we are born is that we are going to die. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio talks about Paula and how distanced they are from each other in their relationship. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio admits that he made matters worse when he asked Fidel to follow her. Pedro actually stands up in shock asking him WHAT???? Pedro thinks she must be furious. He then accuses BLOCKHEAD Rogelio of doing exactly what she is doing to him. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio never told her about buying the restaurant. WHY NOT? AGAIN, BLOCKHEAD Rogelio says it is different. HOW? He wanted it to be a lovely surprise for her. (REALLY?) Pedro wonders if she would think the same. Pedro tells him he needs to have a heart to heart with Paula and try to put himself her shoes.
22. Paula gets home and she and BLOCKHEAD Rogelio end up getting into it. She asks when has he ever had a reason to not trust her. He says she was not clear about what she was doing. She answers that she didn't know herself what she was going to discover. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio makes it all about him, of course. He offered his help and she rejected him (No, he just wanted to go with her because he thought she was going to see an ex-novio. WE remember buddy boy.) He says she knows he is going through a difficult time. He left the company and doesn't know what this going to do with his life. (AWWWW) She throws it back in his face that he never consulted her before eh made the decision to leave the company. She insists that nothing justifies what he did having her followed. He then says he was trying to "protect her". She (and WE) asks protecting her from what? He says PARDON him but HE needed know what in the hell she was doing in Mexico City. Paula can't go on like this. A marriage cannot exist without trust and respect. He asks her what she means with that comment. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio asks a (BAD/STUPID) question. Does she want to end their relationship or what? (UH OH)
That is it for me tonight. Add whatever you remember.
Tonight, we resume with Emilia forced to be subjected to Leo and Sara’s happiness. “It’s incredible” Sara tells Leo. leaning in for a huge kiss, hands stroking Leo’s face. They briefly touch foreheads as a solitary tear falls down Emilia’s cheek marking her mask. From her vantage point in absorbing this sorry scene, Emilia stumbles and knocks over a bucket. Hearing the noise, Leo goes to investigate against sara’s wishes.
Back at her fortress, the evil Shelob intercepted Nico’s airplane and reads the note, breathing fire, spewing about Emilia, and Mauricio. She rips up the paper as Nico flies from the room. Joaquina upbraids her with a few choice words.
Gigi breaks away from Addled’s ill-timed and unwanted kiss, hitting him in the stomach. As he doubles over in pain, she screams and kicks him out of HER house. She talks about her intelligence and political ambition. She points him toward the door and pushes him. He looks in pathetically through the glass.
Leo finds Emilia but she picks up a rock and hits him on the forehead, escaping. Sara comes across Leo and fusses as he bleeds.
Miriam is still attached to Sebas like a barnacle but he doesn’t seem to mind. Tigre comes up and Sebas makes the introductions. Sebas warns her about La Patrona. Speaking of, Gigi is seeking Roberta’s counsel, who is plying her with liquor to learn her secrets.
Sara ministers to Leo’s wounds (that required the smallest band aid I’ve ever seen) by a roaring fire. Elsewhere, Emilia flashes back to being trapped with Leo in the mine, then recalling his proposal to her.
Gigi seems to be giving Roberta credit for her encouragement. I believe Roberta chastises her for having her husband’s amante living in her house.
Joaquina tries to talk sense into Leo but the tiny scratch on his head has robbed him of all rational thought processes. Sara can’t resist telling Joaquina she is pregnant and that she and Leo are getting married. Ahhh she says with a deer in the headlights look. Leo looks grim.
Emilia returns to wherever the three amigos are hiding out. Danilo and Aleida are relieved to see her. Danilo asks what happened and she tells them Sara is pregnant with Leo’s child. Both look appropriately saddened and appalled; Danilo wiping his face with his hand.
There is a confrontation between Tigre and Sebastian and the kid who tormented Nico’s father and Roberta’s henchman (I can’t recall either’s name). They step forward menacingly but Tigre and Seb have back up so they end up retreating.
Roberta seems to be advising Gigi to listen to her advice. If she wants to advance politically, she urges her to reconcile with Addled.
Joaquina is gracious in her congratulations. Sara smiles and Leo guides her out of the room. Leo is lost in his own thoughts, paying no attention to Sara’s ramblings. He is concerned about his sister and other important matters.
Diana
The three friends are huddled by candlelight. I believe Aleida says something about inheritance. All of a sudden, the quiet is broken by screaming sirens and flashing lights. They grab their belongings and close the door just as the police enter. Danilo manages to pull the policeman into a storeroom, closing the door behind them as they flee.
Jennifer comes home to the nest. Can I come back home she asks? Gigi is overjoyed. She asks about Orlando but Jen simply shrugs and doesn’t answer. Sit Gigi bids; are you all right? Is it serious she asks; did you and Orlando break up? Gigi seems to recall Roberta’s words vibrating in her head and she gets up and runs out of the room.
Emilia and her newfound friends are outside, Emilia preoccupied with thoughts of Nico. I didn’t understand the rest.
Roberta and Fidel discuss Gigi’s separation from Addled. They kiss; I want to hurl.
Jennifer enters Orlando’s office and hands him a report. He stares as tears well in her eyes. She wants to be friends; his tears signify that is highly unlikely. They try to touch hands but both crying, gently withdraw them. A woman comes in with a report and kisses him on the cheek (does anyone know who she is?) He gets up and leaves with her; Jenn sits down and has a sad.
On the playground, Nico starts acting up and acting out.
Aleida, Danilo and Emilia are standing in what appears to be a lovely home. They are warmly welcomed by Natalia who hugs Aleida, delighted to see her. Aleida presents Danilo and Emilia to Natalia. Natalia (likely) asks her where she has been. It’s complicated Aleida allows.
Addled is giving dictation. Or trying to The door opens and Gigi and a band enter, serenading him. You are coming home with your family Gigi states, heart obviously misaligned with her words (must be part of Roberta’s instructions). My stomach roils.
Sebas, Leo and Tigre are reviewing blueprints. Sara comes sashaying in, walking up to Leo, purposefully kissing him. Sebas looks grim and Tigre looks angry. After another kiss, Leo explains that Sara is expecting THEIR child. Sebas and Tigre are impactada but the scene ends there.
Aleida and friends are having breakfast when the doorbell rings. Oh noes, It’s Fidel!! He offers fake condolences for Don Francisco’s death. As Natalia speaks with him, the three friends are hiding behind the door, listening to every word! Then, Natalia asks about Aleida and Fidel replies that she DIED in an accident! Natalia tries to keep her composure as Aleida puts her finger to her lips, urging Natalia not to say that is a baldfaced lie as she is there, in the flesh!
Diana
Jarifa, tonight’s seas were stormy indeed, mile high dangerous waves of emotions, crashing fiercely and mercilessly. Only you could capture this seascape with such precision, wisdom, and insight. You laid out the bad and the ugly in raw and real fashion, the unvarnished truth, perfectly.
“(Really? What j*ck*ssery!)” was inspired. I also had to smile at Fernando’s sharing the BLOCKHEAD title. That dubious distinction IS certainly appropriate for both! 😊
Before we get to the unsavory, let’s enjoy the very few joyous scenes. First, Michela fanning “herself to cool off her passion.” To my delight, Honorio thanking Meliton rather than throttling him! Meliton and Felipa’s matching aprons. And lastly, when Paula left Norma’s house distraught, Fidel hiding in plain sight behind a 7-inch-wide tree that wouldn’t have hidden a cat, let alone a grown man had me shaking my head. A few things to fortify us against the onslaught of disaster…
Just to start, Fidel’s new job title should not subject him to being forced to continue to be Rogelio’s little spy. That was bad enough but then embroiling him in his distrust of Paula by “…(cutting) him off and tells him to ask Eva if his suspicions are valid or if Paula really went see her old baby sitter” was offensive and completely inappropriate. Fight your own battles..
“BLOCKHEAD Rogelio makes it all about him, of course. He offered his help and she rejected him (No, he just wanted to go with her because he thought she was going to see an ex-novio. WE remember buddy boy)” was perfect although I wanted to cut and paste your entire paragraph. Rogelio seems to be bordering on bullying behavior, I like him less and less. While he does have some good qualities, he is too self-centered, too self-absorbed and far too righteous. He pontificates too strongly on his perceived truths, never questioning that he might not always be right.
Eva told Fidel what she needed to. She told the truth without embellishment which I don’t think was necessary. Couples do not need to tell each other every thought that goes through their head. I’m conflicted about what she didn’t tell Paula. I think she is right in that if she had, Paula would have blamed Eva. I am hoping Paula will conclude Eva never wanted to subject her parents to any danger and that Eva has to live with the guilt for the rest of her life. I care more that Paula reconcile with Eva than with Rogelio. Honestly, Paula could do better.
A few fashion accessories grabbed my attention. I liked Martina’s black and white striped blouse and French cuffs. Imelda’s ice blue blouse with pleated short sleeves and small ruffle at the neck was my favorite. Paula’s navy print flowing jacket was also pretty.
Diana
Thank you Jarifa! You captured all sighs, all the cries, and all the anguish! And that's saying a lot because last night was nothing but sighs, cries and anguish.
Well, and Honorio's hugs, that was the bright spot for sure!!!
I was surprised to find myself most annoyed with Paula last night. I suppose it's because as annoying as Rogelio is, his actions were in character! With Paula, it was like watching a character you've never seen before suddenly take center screen. I get that she's broken hearted, in shock, and spiraling, but this take no prisoners attitude with zero compassion for anyone or anything that isn't Paula, is not her. It's heart wrenching to hear her belief that no one loved her and no one was ever honest with her. Then of course, since she married a BLOCKHEAD, she has to deal with her husband stalking her on top of everything else.
So sad....and I agree with Eva, Paula didn't need to know any of this!!! I know there's a lot of people out there who believe if it's your life, you have a right to know - ie. how your parents died, whether you were wanted, etc etc. But I disagree, if the knowledge is not going to do anything but devastate you, what's the point? A month ago, Paula was this free confident, loving, compassionate, caring woman and now she's falling in on herself, what has knowing done for her? I remain not a fan of this memory recovery storyline, but I guess they needed more drama.
For me there was way too much Imelda and Fernando last night. I never did care about them and still don’t. Micaela and Honorio were the best! Finally, we got the truth about the accident. What a weight Eva had to carry all these years! I wonder what Paula will say to Rogelio. I know what I would say.. A smart person would not have forced a confrontation but then Rogelio isn’t smart because it always has to be about him.
Diana, thanks for the compliment and thank you for your fashion updates! They have done a great job with the costuming.I wonder what it will take for Rogelio to stop being so full of himself. Ordering Fidel to go spy was over the top. In many ways his ego is just as fragile as Fernando’s and Luis’. At this point Marco is the mentally healthiest of the three. As for Eva, I agree that she was between a rock and a hard place. I do not think she was ever going to escape Paula’s blaming her. The question is will Paula be aboe to see through her grief to forgive her.
Diana, that was excellent. It's funny that I didn't catch the same dialogue you were referring to. I have no subtitles so couldn'tcheck even if I wanted to. I only heard Danilo say 'at least we have...' He also said they are going where no one knows them.
Now Sebas won't want to be friends with Leo anymore. I'm not sorry because Leo is useless. He only now realised Marijo is gone. He told tigre they need to act inteligently and yet I doubt he has an inteligent plan or any plan at all.
I thought Fidel told Roberta his people will give him money for his campaign. Apparently that's not the case. But I do hope the three friends can claim the inheritance. It would actually be interesting if they did it illegally because it's boring when everyone is like Leo: all proper and thus unable to achieve much.
Roberta can't be happy. And you'd think she has all she wants now. But she still has to tear a paper plane because Emilia dying wasn't enough. That's pathetic, but it appears Niceo is changing.
I can't believe everyone is in Roberta's pocket. Gigi, who I think will soon be just Berta again, got back with Addled. How long is she willing to wait for that supposedpolitical opportunity which will never come? I didn't like the scene where Roberta tells her to respect the hierarchies and Gigi asked 'do you mean kings and lady D?' Scenes where women are made tolook exceedingly stupid bother me. There's one thing if she is superficial and prefers not to see certain things. But why make her seem dumb?
I'm already dreading a scene where Emilia will learn Leo didn't sleep with Sara and all will be forgiven. They aren't even trying to redeem him. I hope Sebas punches him so hard that his brain finally starts working.
Jarifa, I completely agree about Imelda and Fernandon't. I don't care about them either and didn't comment on them as there is too much and too many others to care about.
Darcy, I agree Paula is acting uncharacteristically but in her mind, in her core, she feels utterly betrayed. I think Cecilia admitting to knowing what she did pushed her over the edge. Paula never got to pour her heart out the way she wanted to and needed to! Paula is a kind, forgiving soul but right now she needs to grieve her perceived losses and hurts. If only she had a spouse who would stop and think about her rather than himself.
As for Rogelio?? "A smart person would not have forced a confrontation but then Rogelio isn’t smart because it always has to be about him". Exactly Jarifa! Ack...
Diana
I so appreciate your kind words waterlily.
Your comment about Roberta "But she still has to tear a paper plane because Emilia dying wasn't enough" was so true. A heinous monster.
I appreciate all the additional information and dialog you provide including Leo "...told tigre they need to act inteligently and yet I doubt he has an inteligent plan or any plan at all" which made me smile in appreciation although a bit grimly.
Yes, Roberta hasn't met anyone she doesn't seem to buy or coerce has she? Emilia aside and look where she ended up!
I'm really hoping the trio finds the treasure. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Diana
The good thing about this episode is that the recap is funny.
I have an issue with people who do something similar to what F and M did and just are praised. I think they got off to easily. Part of the charm is lost for this reason. But the writers have made some weird choices in this telenovela.
Imelda doesn't like being scolded? But she always did something to make everyone angry at her. Now she acts as if she was a victim of some hugeinjustice. Oh really... I think she later brings up comparisons with Paula. She herself was usually the author of those too.
I wonder why Beatrice has changed so much. She was sensible at the start so where has this gone? Martina hasn't acquired anything she hasn't had before so why is Beatrice's envy so strong just now? I mean, she was envious before Imelda got married and yet she didn't push her to marry Fernando. In fact, she did the opposite.
I was annoyed with Paula too, especially in that scene with Cecilia. Paula sounded like Rogelio when she was talking to her. So when Paula uses this excuse of 'it's not my secret to tell', it's fine. But maybe she is one of those people who can act all 'I'm lady justice' when the situation doesn't concern her personally. I think I expected better from her because she was written as such a voice of reason and so painfully good. She also doesn't yet realise her mother made a choice to protect Eva so it's not just a case of 'it's all your fault'. Do they mean to suggest those criminals causedthe accident deliberately or that it was just a result of the car being chased?
I don't think I have any anger left in me for Rog. I think I gave up on him changing this aspect of his personality. It's like I don't expect him to do better because we are nearly at the end of the show. His natural reaction is alway to make it about himself. Even when Lucas was upset that Rog wasn't paying attention to his interests, Rogelio still just had to say that oh he has problems too. I know characters are flawed, but selfishness and being self-centered are the kind of flaws that I see way too often and these people are not nice to be around or have a relationship with. I think that's why this bothers me so much. Rogelio almost seems to lack empathy. Can he really change this? Because he doesn't seem tosee anything wrong with this or at least to care enough about it to want to change. Can you learn to stop being self-absorbed when it seems almost an automatic response? He had everyone tell him the obvious and doesn't want to listen.
Fidel should quit I think because Rog is a terrible boss. At least in this episode. It's all Fidel's fault. It feels honestly like watching a male version of Martina.
Thanks once again for your great notes from the couch, Jarifa. So glad you added BLOCKHEAD Fernando. When he started following Imelda I thought “those brothers are more alike than I realized”. I don’t like him or Imelda but when I think back to their early months of marriage she was pretty nasty to everyone at the dinner table, every night.
Your words about Rogelio were perfect. It always has to be about him, and he seems to think he’s perfect. Will he ever see himself as he really is? I doubt it.
I feel sorry for Eva, who wanted to have a good relationship with Paula. And she did until Paula found out the real story of the accident. Fidel is the best husband in this show, but Rogelio has sent him on errands before that are not in his job description.
The best parts last night were Honorio with Macaela, and them him with Melitón. I was sure he was going to hit Melitón! Also Martina telling off Beatrice.
I remembered that Eva had tried to pawn that necklace and Martina gave her the money she needed and never said anything. So she’s always had a kindness, or willingness to help people. Even when she didn’t like them.
It will be interesting to see how these marriages are saved. Although Fernando’s might not be. But I would be ok with both marriages ending. That would make for a different ending !
Liz
Darcy, Thanks! ITA that Paula never needed to know anything about Eva’s involvement in her parents’ death just for the reason you mentioned. Too bad it happened. I am ready to an end to Paula’s crying. We clearly didn’t have to see it for as long as we have.
Liz, thanks! Also, thanks for reminding us of Martina getting Eva out of that debt with the thugs. Martina might be prickly, but she isn’t an evil person. As for both marriages not surviving, I could live with that and it would be a novel ending as you mentioned.
Good work, Jarifa.
Paula definitely needs a shrink right now. She is driving herself into depression over something that isn't her fault. As for telling Rogelio about this I am not sure what I would do in such a situation. Both of them therefore have come from major family dysfunction which can work against you if you truly don't trust your partner... or yourself.
Stories like this typically take more time than is left here but since this story was first done in Turkey we mat have to prepare ourselves for a downbeat ending.
Dear Diana, thank you for that great review of all the scheming and dreaming. The villains are all delirious with pleasure and power as the innocent , good people are stunned and licking their wounds .
I can't take quarterback Fidel and head cheerleader , unsmiling , coldhearted, stonefaced Roberta playing spin the bottle in every scene. Yuck.
Fidel showing up for Aleida's inheritance ...ugh. Now how will Aleida claim her inheritance without revealing that she is alive ?
I think Gigi actually hit Addled a little lower than the stomach . He appeared to be writhing in pain . I think she rattled the family jewels. Yay, Gigi.
Do not care about Jen and Orlando . They are probably end game when the writers redeem boring Jen somehow ...but ...meh...do not care .
I absolutely hate conniving Miriam smarming all over our sweet, strong, loyal Seb. Ugh .
Leo is not lionhearted as he offers himself up on a platter to cold, calculating Sara. She lucked out with Leo not asking for a paternity test , but ...we all know that is in the future when Em and her team return to settle scores.
Jarifa, thank you for every detail as we soldier on to the finale with the writers still adding ingredients to this big cauldron of Stone soup.
I have to hurry ...busy day ...but I think that the writers made a mistake with this final Paula storyline . Soulmates usually turn to each other when something bad happens to one of them , but Paula is definitely turning away from Rog, so perhaps they are not truly soulmates.
Thank you Susan!
I am laughing in appreciation for your pointing out where exactly Addled got punched! Too funny and well deserved.
"Leo is not lionhearted" indeed!! And yes, the truth will come eventually. I always feel so badly for the child in these situations...
Orlando is SO handsome but what a disappointment...
I hope Aleida and company outwit Fidel and manage to get the money. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do that!
Diaan
Gracias, Diana.
I have serious problems with this story and getting am seriously frustrated with Roberta and her non-stop evil. She has already corrupted Nico, as we saw in the schoolyard scene. How long will Emilia have to remain in hiding and how will she have to come out of it? The only way I can think of would have to be DNA comparison with Nico. If Roberta has her way Nico will be completely brainwashed before Emilia is back and Roberta will pay for fake results.
Aleida is in a very bad position and will likely have a very hard time getting her inheritance. If she and Fidel were never divorced he doesn't get at least half of it with Orlando getting the other or does Orlando get it all because he's her son and a legal adult? The second Fidel finds out she's alive there will be a target on her back.
Someone needs to suggest to Leo that Sara's fetus is likely to be someone else's.
Liz, I think Martina actually used that info about the necklace Eva stole from her. I think she went and told Fidel about it. And this was my problem with her: she did a good action but not for free. She also pretty much told Eva that she had to do what Martina tells her or something along those lines. I remember Eva feeling kind of trapped in the situation and deciding she'll pay back the money Martina gave her.
Thanks so much Urban!
I think you are exactly right in that Roberta will tarnish Emilia's memory with Nico which will be even more heartbreaking when she returns.
You raised excellent questions regarding the inheritance. I don't know what Mexico's laws are but I conveniently "forgot" Fidel might be entitled to half if she eventually turns up "alive". If they continue to believe she is dead, I would think it would all go to Fidel (unfortunately) or perhaps 50/50 between he and Orlando.
Yes, Aleida is in terrible danger and am hoping she is able to keep in the shadows for a time.
I fear the fact Leo isn't the baby's father won't be revealed until the last minute. No one really has any suspicion Sara was with anyone else. When Danilo talked about her to Fidel and Addled, he never used her name (naturally, so...) :(
Diana
Thanks for the info, Waterlily. I remember Eva paying her back and she had to insist Martina take it. I missed the part that is almost bribery, my Spanish is not great so I probably miss a lot!
Urban, I’ve heard Turkish telenovelas don’t always have the expected endings. We might see a couple of divorces!
Liz
Thanks, Jarifa. I'm all caught up, just in time to catch the BLOCKHEAD in tonight's epi. :>

Notes from the couch . . .
1. Rogelio looks sorry he said what he did about a separation as soon as the words leave his mouth but it is too late. Clearly stricken, he suggests that they take time to reflect on how they are feeling. Paula doesn't want to separate because she believes in the force of the family. Shealso would never do that to his mother especially now. He thinks they need to think of their relationship without involving anyone else. She thinks Rogelio needs to to really think about what he did. He needs to realize that she isn't going anywhere. If he feels bad, it's on him. She leaves the room.
SOME TIME LATER
2. Honorio and Melitón are decorating the Villa for a wedding. Imelda is coordinating everything including the food and clothing for the wedding party.
3. Eva is lamenting that she has lost her "Pauli" forever. Ceciiia reminds her that was she heard was very hard and Paula is very sensitive. Cecilia also tells her that she kept things from Paula in order to protect her. Eva agrees but in the end, she was not able to protect her from the truth. Cecilia acknowledges that Eva feels bad but her son needs her. Eva smiles and turns her attention to her baby.
4. Micaela is upset because the oven will not turn on. She asks Meliton when was the last time he paid for gas. It has to to have been about a month and a half. How is she supposed to make the food for Martina's wedding. Honorio calls a friend at the gas company to fix it
5. Blanca tells Marco she was successful at the hearing force lawsuit. She is getting her job back plus compensation. They found that she was fired for simply being pregnant. Her boss comes out and tells her that she might have gotten her way with this one but for him she is nothing but a two-faced, lying, difficult person. Marco calls him an imbecile and goes to defend Blanca, but she pulls him back. Blanca can defend herself. She tells her boss to accept the verdict or it could all become public which wouldn't be a good thing for his company. He raises his finger to lecture/mansplain her, but looks around and thinks better of it. He leaves. Marco is proud of her.
It is the day of the wedding
6. Fidel cannot talk Eva into going to the wedding after everything that happened with Paula. Fidel agrees to go but he will NOT enjoy himself.
7. Lucas asks his father if he thinks that his granny will remember him when he goes to his summer course. Rogelio explains the his granny's illness requires them to live with her in the present the most they can. His granny is going to forget things so It is important that he video calls her daily. Lucas asks how? He has no cell phone. Rogelio hands him a box with a new cell phone inside.
8. Imelda looks for Martina but cannot find her. Nobody seems to know where she is. Paula calls Gabriel. He has a good idea where she might be. He will call them in half hour.
9. Ignacio tells Cass that Martina deserves to be happy. Cass says that Olimpia never had a good word to say about Martina. Ignacio says his mother didn't either. Cass ask if he feels he will be betraying his mother's memory by going to the wedding. He says he is long over that. Therapy has given him a different way of looking at things. He has a surprise for Cass. There is another wedding she will be attending today. He shows her an application for a marriage license. They have an appointment at the civil registry to be married themselves after Martina's wedding.
Page 2
10. Gabriel goes to the restaurant he usually goes to with Martina and she is there sitting at a table. She asks him why he is dressed like he is. He explains that today is the happiest day of his life. Martina realizes they are getting married today. She has to get back to get ready!
11. Paula tells Rogelio that Gabriel found Martina and they are coming home. Rogelio thanks her and to compliment her on her on how she looks. She cuts him off and excuses herself to let everyone know that Martina has been found.
12. Martina gets her hair and makeup done. When she is alone, she looks in the mirror and sees IRMA's face with the same hairdo and everything ! (Hallucination?) She sees her own reflection again but is shook until all of her sons soon arrive to congratulate her on her big day.
.
13. Rubén asks Imelda why they weren't invited toMartina and Gabriel's wedding. They are family. Beatriz doesn't want to have a relationship with any of those Iturbides especially Martina. He reminds her that their daughter and grandchildren are Iturbides. . She is going to make sure that her foundation does better than Martina's and that the Monarca will be forgotten in no time. Rubén warns her that Martina has become her obsession again and the only one who is going to be destroyed is going to be her.
14. It is a double header in the garden: Martina and Gabriel are married under civil law AND a Catholic marriage ceremony follows.
15. it is reception time. Luis asks Paula where Eva is. She explains that they have their differences and why. Luis apologizes ahead of time but he thinks that he doesn't think that any dispute cannot be reconciled. She took care of her since she was a little girl. Paula says the truth is that a person who isn't even related to her took care of he and made her who she is. It certainly wasn't her mother or Eva. Eva hid it because she didn't want to take responsibility for what she had done. Luis had no idea but he does know that pain is a bad advisor.
16. Cass and Ignacio congratulate Martina and Gabriel. Ignacio has kind words for Martina. He lets them know that he and Cass are getting married when they leave the reception. Martina and Gabriel congratulate them.
17. Rogelio wants to talk. Paula tries to tell him it has been long day. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio just bulldozes on trying to tell her what Fidel said about Eva. She cuts him off. That is something that she'll only talk to Eva about. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio feels like she doesn't need him. Paula says that she didn't marry him because she needed him. She explains it was for the deep love . . . BLOCKHEAD Rogelio interrupts her asking if it was for the deep love she HAD for him or HAS for him. She looks as if she can't believe what he is asking.
18. Martina and Gabriel go on their honeymoon. There are lots of lovely things they say to each other.
Page 3
19. Rogelio calls Eva and asks her if she remembers the name of the restaurant that Paula's parents owned. She says it was named "La Cocina de Ana" ( Ana's Kitchen) That is what Rogelio decides to name his new restaurant. Paula will love it!
20. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio seems surprised that Paula is going with him to drop off Lucas in Mexico City for his music class. He thought she would be staying behind take care of the house. She names all of the people they have hired who live at the house along with members of his own family that can handle that. She wants to say goodbye to Lucas. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio states that she wants to go to Mexico City just because of Lucas then.. . She looks puzzled (as we all do) She reminds him that Lucas is going to be staying on his own for a week in Mexico City. BLOCKHEAD Rogelio asks if she is taking Jazz. She says no and that Imelda and Fernando will take care of her. After the interrogation, BLOCKHEAD Rogelio withdraws to his office.
21. Cass and Ignacio turn in their adoption application. The nun will forward them to the adoption committee to be reviewed and that will take several weeks. She would like to schedule a few home visits with Romina under the supervision of one of their technical advisors. They both would love to have her visit their home. The nun suggests they spend the whole day today with Romina at the orphanage. Romina is happy to see them again. She wants a family. They will plan for her to visit their home with a social worker supervising. Later Romina tells them she wants them to be her parents forever. Ignacio say he will work on that.
22. David tells Beatriz he has no intention of doing anything against Martina.
23. Luis mets with Andrea,Marcelo and their friends. Andrea tells them that Luis is her best friend. They were once engaged but it didn't work out. He is now their "godfather of the wedding rings." Someone asks how Luis and Andrea met and he tells "a tale" of how they met in Venice. "Romeo and Juliet" is involved.
24. Paula and Rogelio deliver Lucas to the music school in Mexico City. The director notices that Lucas looks a little pale. Lucas says it is only a headache. The director is going to have the school doctor look him over to make sure he is okay.
25. It turns out that Luis made up the whole tale about how they met. Andrea is not pleased because it wasn't true. As for the whole Romeo and Juliet thing, she makes it clear she doesn't want to die for love, she wants to live it. He asks with the lawyer or him. She reminds him she is getting married tomorrow. He can't be doing this today.
26. The doctor says Lucas is suffering from stress probably from starting a new course and leaving his parents but his health is perfect. Lucas wants to talk with his parents.
27. Lucas tells Paula and Rogelio that he is very happy getting to do what he always wanted to: playing music all day long . He is only asking them for one little thing: to stop being angry with each other. He has noticed them not talking for a while now and he doesn't like to see them like this. They need to make peace.
Page 4
28. Fernando and Imelda wonder what is going on with Rogelio and Paula. Whatever it is, they hope they can fix it. Imelda asks Fernando, what about the two of them?
29. Rogelio invites Paula to a mocha to take on the trip back. She says she has things she has to do. He wants to know how much longer they are going to live like this. She doesn't know but asks him not to pressure her. She needs her space. He says okay. He asks her to try to not get back late.
30. Beatriz is still into establishing her own foundation. She has a couple of ladies interested but they won't get involved right away. They have a lot of questions that Beatriz has no good answers for. They would rather see how it goes.
31 Eva visits her sister Ana's grave on her birthday. She tells her that when she died, Paula gave meaning to her life. She remembers how she and Ana used to celebrate their birthdays together. Eva apologizes again to her sister. She never should have asked for her help when she had to get away. She apologizes for having hurt Paula when she only wanted to take care of her. She begs her to forgive her. Paula, stone-faced, arrives bringing flowers for her mother's grave.
That is it for me. Please add anything else you remember.
Thanks, all for stopping by the patio today. It was been a busy day and I had time to read your comments but not much else.
I didn't like seeing Martina hallucinating in front of that mirror.
Looks like Cass and Ignacio will end up with Romina.
Will Paula push Eva off her mother's grave? LOL
Will Paula and Eva ever reconcile?
Will Paula ever feel the same about Rogelio again? What was all of that weird stuff about her going toMexico City? Does the BLOCKHEAD still think there is another guy?
Will Honorio and Micaela get married?
Will Fernando and Imelda get back together?
How could Luis agree to be the "godfather of the rings"? Is he a masochist?
How could he FINALLY put himself out there by being sort of honest with Andrea the day before her wedding???
Will Andrea get married or end up a runaway bride? She seems as loopy as Luis.
That is all for now
A rudimentary understanding of Spanish was essential in trying to comprehend tonight’s dialog. As this was far above my understanding, I’m going to try to translate what I believe occurred as best I can. If anyone can add some or all of what I missed, it would be greatly appreciated.
Tonight we pick up with Fidel finishing his conversation with Natalie, lying through his teeth that Aleida died handing her (I believe) the death certificate. After he leaves, Aleida clutches her chest, rushing out from her hiding place, hugging her.
We return to Tigre and Sebas having just learned that Leo and Sara are expecting a child. Together. Tigre is incensed and Sebas is equally as angry calling him an imbecile. Tigre calls Leo a traitor for betraying Emilia’s trust.
There are several Addled/Gigi scenes; one where he seems to be telling her what to, handing her a wedding ring. Later, they swill tequila and mutter “Salud” seemingly coming to some kind of understanding. And finally, one where he lectures Gigi about Roberta and Fidel. If anyone cares to translate or delve further into their discussions, please feel free.
Tigre is still ripping Leo to shreds, calling him a disgrace. He throws papers on the ground as the small gathering quietly files out. Sebas is equally beside himself. Leo tries to hold his ground as best he can but there is no doubt he has suffered a verbal beatdown. He has the good grace to bow his head at one point, but the damage is done.
Aleida tells Natalia Fidel is a monster. She apologizes to Emilia and Danilo who make it clear they are there to support her. Natalia takes a painting off the wall. Attached to the back is a letter which she hands to Aleida. She reads it; it is from her uncle who tells her how special she is and how much he loves her. We see a flashback of them together, he painting the lovely outdoor scene contained in the painting now before them; the backyard, lush trees illuminated by light.
Thank you for everything Aleida tells Natalia…
Tigre is back home telling Zaira what a traitor Leo is. He is distraught and of course Roberta’s name comes up. Gael comes out, concern written all over his face.
Leo upbraids Sara (half-heartedly) about what happened with Tigre. Sara juts out her chin and holds her ground. She is pregnant and they are going to form a family, like it or not.
Our trio regroup in their new quarters. Aleida holds the painting aloft.
Diana
An irate Sebas accosts Sara as she has a (seemingly non-alcoholic) drink at the bar. Congratulations he says, emotionally distraught. She fights back but his verbal onslaught continues. When she gets up to leave, he grabs her and she pulls back, slapping him sneering she is going to be happy with Leo and her child. At that moment, stoopid Miriam rushes up. Sara goes after Miriam for her relationship with her father but Sebas puts his arm rather protectively around Miriam (ack) and Sara stalks away. Sebas pours himself a strong drink, dissolving in tears.
The trio emerges into the yard, Danilo armed with a shovel. Danilo unearths several stashes of coins as well as an actual treasure chest loaded with gleaming gold coins! They will be friends to the end. Aleida tells Emilia they will regain their sons! They all embrace.
Zaira visits Gigi trying to get her to see Roberta for who she is. Gigi seems sympathetic but will not do anything and runs into the house, collapsing on the couch in tears. Teresa comforts her.
Leo starts to talk to Roberta about the wedding to Sara. Nico hears and is very unhappy, smashing his glass to the ground. You are marrying Sara he cries?? Nico then flies out.
Tigre is praying as he looks at pictures of Nico and Emilia. Gael comes up hugging his father. Marijo calls/texts but Gael ignores it.
Halfway around the world, Marijo, clad in her uniform of starched white shirt, blazer, and plaid skirt, says por favor, answer. She is taunted by several mean girls who call her Mary and take her phone.
Roberta and Leo are still at it. Leo talks about his father’s murder and of course, Emilia. You are not Nico’s father Roberts sneers. Leo tells Roberta he knows she is manipulating Nico and warns her he is willing to fight her for custody.
Joaquina tries to comfort a distraught Nico. Leo tries to talk to him but he spurns him, yelling about Sara, and runs off.
Outside, in the dark of night, Tigre, Zaira and Gael commiserate about Emilia. Zaira tries to soothe Tigre’s heart and speaks lovingly of her. Finally, they are ready to let go. “Adios Emilia” Zaira begins. “Adios” Tigre answers. “Goodbye sister” Gael says as they put their heads together in sorrow hugging each other tightly.
Sara and Jenny arrive for breakfast and are startled to see Gigi and Addled seated at the table. Addled tells them to sit down and explains Gigi has given him another chance. She puts her hand on his wrist but her smile seems forced. Jenny looks ill, Sara simply stares.
Aleida and Danilo walk into the beautiful house as Emilia quietly mutters “goodbye Emilia Sanchez”. The next phase of their master plan is about to unfold.
Back at the mines, Roberta and Tigre, flanked by their respective supporters, come face to face. Leo steps in the middle attempting to broker a bit of calm before blows can be struck. Chaos breaks out for a moment as Sebas stares at Roberta. Leo is the peacemaker, for a few short seconds as we end for the evening…
Diana
Jarifa, tonight’s vivid, vibrant recap was viewed through a wise, observant, powerful lens, filtered with kindness. Exceptional.
Gabriel knowing where to find the errant Martina before the wedding showed a love that transcends the ordinary. For Martina is already crossing from health to sickness and the very best they will have together is the here and now. For sadly, there is little future. Otto Sirgo’s gentleness and strength and his understated performance has been perfection.
Rogelio continues to hurt and disappoint Paula. And us. Children are so perceptive when there is any discord between their parents as Lucas clearly conveyed. And when a child sees their parents hurt, the hurt filters down to them.
Luis’ “pain is a bad advisor” point was well given. I hope Paula and Eva reconcile soon; Paula’s “stone faced” reaction to Eva was chilling in its intensity; this is not the kind, forgiving person we’ve come to know and care about.
I liked Romina immediately, what a sweet, lovely girl. I hope she ends up being adopted by Cass and Ignacio who seems at long last to be winning the battle to banish his demons.
The wedding was a lovely and touching affair. Martina’s lacy blue gown was absolutely gorgeous, off the shoulder, demure yet beautiful. I also liked her cute brown hat with bow at she wore with Gabriel at their breakfast the day after the wedding.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I agree Jarifa, I think Andrea and Luis will be next. I also think Fernando and Imelda will get back together. Further, I fear Rogelio will always be a BLOCKHEAD! 😊
Diana
Gracias, Jarifa!!! It was a beautiful wedding and you captured the tranquility of it perfectly with your words.
Martina looked lovely! And 'Otto Sirgo’s gentleness and strength and his understated performance has been perfection.' 100% agree Diana!
I was thinking if I was Cass I wouldn't like being informed I was getting married TODAY, today! But other than worrying about her dress she was thrilled with the plan so I suppose he knows her well! Ignacio definitely did look happy and settled at the wedding with his family.
Rogelio really is a BLOCKHEAD, I know Paula hasn't told him much but he knows enough to know that she's upset by new information she learned about her childhood, it doesn't occur to him that having a restaurant named after a memory from that distressful childhood might not make her smile? We'll see. He just walks around acting like the injured party and still hasn't made the slightest attempt to actually HELP his wife, I think they'll stay together but I feel sorry for Paula because he isn't going to change. He doesn't even see the problem much less want to change it.
I feel bad for Eva, I still don't feel like she did anything wrong and like Diana said, 'this is not the kind, forgiving Paula we've come to know and care about'. Paula told Luis that a stranger took care of her and made her who she is today... Yep! She had such an impact you couldn't even remember her name or face until last month!!!! Oh please!
Did Blanca win? I know she technically did and that's great and all, but she got her job back working for the same jackass who has already demonstrated that his attitude hasn't changed and he feels zero remorse - that doesn't feel like much of a win! I think IRL the manager would have been fired or demoted. Or at the very least Blanca would be assigned to a different manager.
Totally agree about Andrea and Luis, I thought she was lying about her marriage to make Luis jealous, realizing she really is getting married and really is still trying to make Luis jealous while engaged to another man makes it even stupider than it was when I thought it was a lie - done with both of them!
Thanks, Jarifa. There were moments of true excellence in this episode.
I never thought Ignacio would get better but he is on the way. He may become the father he wished he'd had and the fact that Cassandra doesn't take BS from anyone will help that.
Martina is declining fast. I am so impressed with Gabriel's patience and understanding. The performances of Otto Sirgo and Diana Bracho were stellar.
Paula might go off the deep end when she finds out the name of Rogelio's restaurant, which would would not have happened if she had told him of her sad discoveries.
Andrea was cruel to ask Luis to present the rings. He should not attend the wedding.
Thanks, Diana.
So now our unfortunate heroine finds a fortune which will help her do what she needs to do now as Sara is now on her way to becoming the next Roberta. Her two friends have their scores to settle and here's hoping that the villains get their due at the end.
My favorite moment was Gigi's reference to Paquita ls del Barrio and her most famous song which translates to this. I took a friend to a concert years ago when Paquita opened with this song and all the women laughed and applauded. This song descries Addled perfectly.
Diana, you did a great job. I won't believe for a moment your Spanish isn't good.
Gigi wants to get back with Addled who says then I want to renew our wedding vows. He tells her to think about it but she says 'it's now or never. Let's decide it here.' She wants to stay in politics. Addled says 'don't talk nonsense. I don't like this empowered women stuff.' She threatens him she will tell about all the public money he stole. He says all her 'gustitos' were paid with this money. Besides, he is not the only player in this game. If he falls, the higher-ups fall with him. The main one of course is Roberta. Addled says it's not convenient for them to anger her. Surprisingly, they remember the good times. Untill Gigi brings up Miriam. Addled lies that she doesn't love him and only wants money. I believe he says he'll give her the money. They agree to renew their vows.
It was funny that Leo went to Sara to...scold her? Complain? Now he realised he should have fought for E and shouldn't have given up. But he also insisted 'things didn't happen like this' when tigre and Seb said he betrayed E. I have no idea what he wanted to explain to them. I guess he'd have said he was drunk, but that feels even worse. He is lucky to have fallen asleep before Sara could take advantage of him.
Sara tells him that either he goes with her to Mexico, or the child will grow up without him.
She also tells Sebas it's his fault things are the way they are. If he had taken E to live far away, she might still be alive. Are they really going to redeem her? Why? Because she is pregnant? Or because she once had something that sounded like a voice ofconscience? Why does she even want Leo if he told her he shouldn't have fallen into bed with her? To him this was an acoston and she still wants the man? I swear Miriam, Sara and Jen all have only one brain cell. What is going on with the women in this town?
Gigi cries that she wanted to do one worthwhile thing, that she wanted to change but doesn't know how. Tereza says 'you do know how, senora, only you don't want to or it's not convenient for you.' She isn't wrong, but Gigi would end up dead if she did anything I imagine. She could tell all Addled's money secrets and he'd get off.
I do not undersstand where Rogelio got the idea that action would make Paula happy. I don't think it's her fault for not telling him. It's his own fault for rushing to do something. But maybe he just thinks that whatever he came up with is a good idea. He will remain as the galan whose wife I'll feel sorry for. And to think I thought Martina was the main problem. If he felt he didn't have enough info, why name the restaurant like this? That sounds like the height of stupidity to me.
Paula saying Norma made her who she is sounded so funny and crazy. If you are angry, at least don't make stuff up. I suppose she is more ordinary now because nearly everyone can give advice but they rarely take their own.
How is telling a woman she is getting married today and after someone else's wedding a nice thing? I guess she wasn't angry but still.
Urban, I agree with you about Diana Bracho as well. I love Diana Bracho's smile!!! Everytime Martina smiles - a real, broad, full smile; I just want to sit and have tea with her! She's done a fantastic job on this series!
Dear Diana, thank you so much for the excellent recap which helped me understand what was happening .
I am mainly interested in the three amigos and hoping for their triumphant return to right all the wrongs . I guess they took those gold coins and bought the mansion . Wow, how much money does Aleida have now thanks to her uncle's buried treasure ?
For some reason, I wonder why Aleida's uncle decided to bury all that gold. Is that his entire fortune , or is there more ? Maybe Fidel is not going to get as much as he thinks .
I cannot stand looking at smug Sara. It seemed that Miriam stepped in to defend her amigo Seb . I am afraid the writers are going to redeem Miriam , and she will end up with sweet Seb who is grieving the loss of Em. Boo.
Leo continues to look like a whipped dog which is not a good look for a galan. Uff
Thank you Urban; I appreciate your Paquita ls del Barrio reference. You consistently provide so much informative, interesting information.
Sara is certainly trying to cement her place in hell. And yet, I keep thinking of her child and Danilo being the father. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.
Diana
Waterlily, I can't thank you enough for your kind words. I'm relieved I'm getting at least a few things right.
I appreciate all the important details you provided. So Addled and Gigi are going to renew their vows. Her obsession with being like and wanting Roberta to like her aside, she does have some good redeeming qualities although both her daughters view her as rather the fool. She is doing this of her own volition so I have no sympathy.
Leo has made so many mistakes, it's hard to keep track. Nothing he could have thought to say to Tigre or Sebas would have changed their minds. It' unfortunate he took Sara's word so easily and never had her get the pregnancy test. Leo loses points for gullibility too. Sara has him right where she wants him.
Diana
Susan, I so appreciate your supportive, warm comments.
I was also wondering if Aleida's uncle believes in banks or are holes in the ground his only preference for stashing gold? :)
'Leo continues to look like a whipped dog which is not a good look for a galan. Uff" had me smiling and nodding in agreement.
I also look forward to the next steps for our trio! Can't wait til tonight.
Diana
I still cannot figure out why Daniel was in the manicomia to begin with . If Sara sent him there for some reason , does she think that he died in the fire? There are so many holes in this story. We seem to be trying to keep track of the storylines more than the writers . The actors, on the other hand, are doing the best they can with the lines they are given.
Thanks, Jarifa, a great detailed recap.
The wedding was lovely as was the bride. I was worried she would forget who she was or somehow mess up who’s who in her family. I had no idea Alzheimer’s starts like that, you zone out for a bit and then you’re back. They’re going to have to do a better job of keeping up with her.
I feel sorry for Eva. She had good intentions and Paula is being too unforgiving.
It looks like Fernando and Imelda are getting along better. She seemed actually concerned about Paula and Rogelio.
Beatrice is another story! She seems to take delight in the suffering of others. I’m glad that David guy refused her offer. Right now she is the one we want to see suffer!
Ignacio had done such a turnaround. I think everything will work out for he and Cass. So glad he’s doing the adoption.
Luis does not seem to do well outside of his family. To make up a whole crazy story about Andrea and his meeting was really strange.
Liz
Jarifa, thank you for another great report from the couch . You catch every moment .
Paula has given everyone advice throughout this show to be positive, but now that she has been given some bad news, she isn't taking her own advice . I still think that the writers don't know some of their own characters . Soul mates usually turn to each other when bad things happen to either of them , so perhaps Rog and Paula are not soulmates. It takes awhile to get to really know somebody . How long did these two know each other before they got married ?
The Luis and Andrea storyline gets increasingly annoying. I do not care .
Martina looked lovely with her hair up and wearing that beautiful navy lace gown .
I get sad looking at Martina and Gabriel be cause they could have had a life of love together , and now who knows how much time they will have together . Martina is so lucky to have a loving , caring family. Gabriel has flaky Andrea and the weird younger ex wife who appeared for no good reason and disappeared just as quickly.
Diana and Susan, If Aleida's uncle didn't like Fidel, maybe hiding money like a pirate seemed a good idea to him. If he put the money in the bank, would it have gone to Fidel even if it hadn't been mentioned in the will? But his plan seems to have worked. If it hadn't been for E, Aleida would have died in that hospital and the money would have stayed buried forever. So Natalia knew all of this?
What I like about this show and any show that uses this angle is that people who under different circumstances wouldn't have met or wouldn't have become friends are helping each other. I suppose it's true common experiences bond people. Having common enemies also doesn't hurt.
Jarifa, riveting recap.
Rogelio has really lost it, hasn't he. One idiotic statement/decision after another. Feels like the writers got sick and tired of him and let him have it.
Martina looked sensational. Imelda did a great job with the wedding attire. This was my favorite seniors TN wedding.
I've never warmed up to Eva but went along because she and Fidel make each other happy. Now that Paula knows some of the story, she needs to hear it all from Eva.
I am so enjoying reading your comments. For me, these characters are so human. They are unpredictable. One would have thought that after hearing Lucas' pleas in a typical novela, Paula would have made nice with Rogelio but not here. I like that. As Diana has commented on the excellence of Otto Sirgo's acting and Urban has on his and Diana Bracho's performances, I think that the acting has been outstanding across the board. Marcus Ornellas hit it out of the park as Rogelio in this last episode realizing he took a step too far with Paula. He went from sounding like a brute to looking like a lost little boy. This novela has turned out to be a much better watch than what I was expecting.
Diana, thank you for your continuing to comment on the consuming. Yes, Martina's dress was beautiful. I also like how her hair was done. "And when a child sees their parents hurt, the hurt filters down to them." You can say that again. it will do Lucas good to be away from that pressure cooker for a week.
Darcy "Did Blanca win? I know she technically did and that's great and all, but she got her job back working for the same jackass who has already demonstrated that his attitude hasn't changed and he feels zero remorse - that doesn't feel like much of a win!" I felt the same way. I hope we find out what ultimately happens at her job and if she is reassigned or maybe she quits after having made her point.
Urban, "Andrea was cruel to ask Luis to present the rings. He should not attend the wedding.
" ITA but what even made it worse is that he AGREED to do it. Stupid on both of their parts but that is probably what they will end up together.
waterlily, loved your "And to think I thought Martina was the main problem." LOL So did I and then wondered how a novela about a b*tchy mother-in-law was going to keep my interest.
Liz, "Ignacio had done such a turnaround. I think everything will work out for he and Cass." Will they end up being one of the few happily married couples in the end? That was something I NEVER saw coming for his character. Glad that this novela took place over a fe years so we could see his development through his therapy.
Susan, "How long did these two know each other before they got married ? " The answer is not long. It seems like they met and got married in a few months or less. Might that be a PSA? Too funny!
Niecie, "This was my favorite seniors TN wedding." ITA and I am happy that you mentioned that. The novelas try so hard to include storylines for everyone and I have always appreciated them including older adults. People don't curl up and die at 50. They actually live and do everything just like everyone else. "Now that Paula knows some of the story, she needs to hear it all from Eva." Yes she is the only one who can solve the situation. Paula has only 7 episodes left to find out the whole truth.
Waterlily, Danilo digging and finding that gold was a bright spot in this dismal tale. They really must have worked quickly to cash in the gold and purchase the mansion. I can't wait to see what these three amigos do next. I also am looking forward to beautiful Karyme ( Aleida) losing that awful wig and seeing her as she really looks .Can't wait to see what happens tonight.
No Susan, we still really don't know why Dan was really in the manicomio. A hell of a place to hide, right? There was more to it with that phone call with Sara but...I hadn't thought that Sara never tried to follow up with him, to see if he is all right. Clearly, she has moved on... :(
"What I like about this show and any show that uses this angle is that people who under different circumstances wouldn't have met or wouldn't have become friends are helping each other. I suppose it's true common experiences bond people. Having common enemies also doesn't hurt". Yes waterlily, very well said!! And you're right Danilo did save Emilia but Emilia was the one who insisted they take Aleida with them...thank goodness!
Diana
Diana: Super AWESOME job on giving us the full-scale heavy load of last night's episode. Good Job! I also love your recaps.
Waterlily: Like Emilia's mask, it looks nice. Let's see if the 3 Amigos (Emilia, Aleida & Danilo) can avoid getting captured by law enforcement.
Susan: I kind of find Sara ANNOYING. Does anyone else agree ?
I cringed seeing Marijo being bullied by the Mean Girls somewhere in London or Paris.
