Quote for Turkish ep 56: "...I keep thinking, how much we died to live." - Onat Kutlar
Derya goes to Pars’ office and finds his resignation letter on the desk.
Ceylin decides to help Ozge and recruits Osman to assist.
Ilgaz meets Eren. There have been simultaneous raids at all the addresses Hilmi supplied. All successful. I took the laptops, computers and everything else, Eren says. We suspected something while digging and we found a body. Forensics is on the way. Ilgaz asks, anything on Cezik? No, Eren replies, but we are interrogating suspects. A man is taken away and Eren says, that guy is Igor, the boss. Igor takes a long look in Ilgaz and Eren’s direction.
Eyup tells Cinar this happened to him because he said where to find Defne. They thought it wasn’t my business. It’s the price I had to pay. Cinar wants to take Eyup to the hospital, have him file a report and then speak with Ilgaz. Eyup won’t do that. He doesn’t want further problems. Cinar orders a guy to get Eyup tea, food and painkillers. Clean out the room next to the office and place a bed in there. Get him clean clothes. Keep an eye on him and make sure he’s okay.
Ceylin explains to Osman that this will be very dangerous, you must keep this secret. He agrees to help, but reminds her that he has a job interview… Ceylin says she will handle that.
Eren asks about the divorce hearing. Ilgaz says the judge suspended it. Why? Because I won’t give up even if Ceylin does, Ilgaz explains, I won’t divorce her. Eren breaks into a big smile. That’s what I expected from my friend. You hid it well, you should have told me. I was dying to know. Ilgaz replies, let’s see if Ceylin was convinced.
How did Ceylin react when you refused, Eren asks. She said nothing, Ilgaz answers, I thought she’d be upset, but she wasn’t. Eren can’t believe she didn’t cause a scene. But if I know my queen, he says, it’s clear she hasn’t given up either. Mark my words. Ilgaz says that Ceylin is afraid, and he admits he is too. It will happen somehow, he tells Eren, but I won’t give up.
Anil says they found two bodies. One buried on top of the other. The first was buried recently. Umut says all the suspects were brought to the station. Ilgaz gives the orders to continue searching and he leaves with Eren for the station.
The girls come to the pool hall. Tugce mentions something about getting a bicycle. Cinar gives her some money. The girls see Eyup and are shocked. Cinar tells Eyup to go to the room and rest. Tugce starts in, noting, someone badly beat up your friend. Cinar says it’s not important.
Ceylin and Osman drag lifeless Cezik through the cemetery while Ozge watches! [I guess this is where Cezik brought Ozge to terrorize her.] Osman comments, when you said dangerous, I didn’t think it was this serious! Osman babbles on about seeing a corpse and Ceylin tells him to shut up—you forgot Serdar very quickly. [And Ceylin thinks dumping Cezik will work out better?]
Osman wants to bury Cezik there, but Ceylin wants to dump Cezik in the sea. She says, he’s the mafia boss’ son! If they find him, we’re finished! We just got Defne back and Chief Metin barely survived, Ridvan is dead. Everyone’s suffered! I won’t let my life or my loved ones’ lives be destroyed because of this vulture. Shut up and help me! [she left out: destroy my loved ones’ lives.]
Osman spots people at the cemetery. Hurry! Hurry! There is an empty grave nearby and they dump Cezik in. Ceylin and Osman pretend to pray like they are visitors. The people pass. Ceylin says let’s bury him.
Hilmi’s wife, Selma, comes to ask Yekta for help. Yekta asks, what are the charges? She doesn’t know. Hilmi said to contact you and he didn’t want anyone to find out. I came without calling. They head to the station.
Rat-fet is upset at finding suspects crowding the station. A cop tells him the cells are full. Rafet acts like his typical jerk self and chews out the cop. Ilgaz and Eren arrive and Rafet becomes his typical fawning self. We caught the whole gang thanks to you, he tells the DA. It was thanks to everyone, Ilgaz replies.
Will we interrogate all of them, Rafet asks. Ilgaz says to start with the leader. Get an interpreter if necessary. Eren says there’s no need, they speak fluent Turkish. Rafet says that Hilmi is waiting. He finds this situation very funny. Hilmi doesn’t look the same as he does on TV. He’s waiting for his lawyer. I think Rafet is anxious to interrogate him. Eren can’t believe that Rafet is actually doing some work.
Worried Derya shows up at the station to speak with Ilgaz and Eren. She shows them Pars’ letter. She says, he’s suffering, he blames himself. The letter has been submitted, it’s in the system. Have you talked to him, Ilgaz asks. Derya hasn’t. I don’t know what to talk to him about. She doesn’t know where he is. Ilgaz takes out his phone to call.
Ceylin and Osman finish the impromptu burial. [what, no Al-Fatiha for Cezik’s soul?] Ceylin runs to retrieve the gun. They run over to Ozge, who’s been watching in shock. Kendine gel! Come on, let’s go. They get in the car and leave the cemetery. We see a funeral van enter.
Ilgaz can’t get through to Pars. His phone is off. Of course, Derya says, he doesn’t want us to convince him to withdraw the request. Eren is hopeful they can find a way. Derya says she will go home to wait and will keep them informed.
Ozge is panicking. They won’t find him, right? I mean, it’s a graveyard. [yes, and you put him in someone else’s grave! How stupid is this!] Ceylin tells her not to worry. Ozge wishes she hadn’t told Ceylin [me, too]. If anything happens to you, Ilgaz will go crazy.
Nothing will happen, Ceylin replies with a combo of irritation and wishful thinking, nothing will happen to anyone, that’s enough! I won’t allow it! Besides, no one has noticed he’s dead. We’ll get rid of the gun and it will be over. It will be our secret.
Yekta and Omer arrive for Hilmi. He’s in Rafet’s office. Hilmi is taken to the interrogation room. Yekta asks Omer to step out while he speaks with Rafet. Yekta is ticked at Rafet. He’s not been very helpful. You went from mole to rat, very quickly, he says.
Rafet answers, are you the one they are investigating? You’re fine. Do you think this is easy? I want you far from me. Get out. Your client is waiting for you. Don’t come to my office anymore. Yekta replies, you’ll run out of money… and I’ll give you a lesson in civility, so you learn how to treat people.
Ilgaz enters the interrogation room with the big boss, Igor. He takes off his jacket, rolls up his sleeves and introduces himself. I’m DA Ilgaz Kaya. You kidnapped and stabbed my father. You also kidnapped my sister.
Ceylin tells Osman to make sure the coast is clear. [literally… they are at the water.] She tosses the gun into the Bosphorus. Let’s go somewhere to get cleaned up, she tells Osman.
Eren speaks with an IT guy. He hands him a pic of Cezik. We don’t know his first or last name. [note: I’ve realized in Turkish they call him “Kesik” and it means “cut or slash”.] We don’t know if he’s Bulgarian or not. We’ll track him with the equipment we seized.
Rafet informs Eren about a call from the cemetery. Someone bought a spot to bury his father, but they found someone else in the grave. According to the guys, it was a recent burial. He wants Eren to take the case. Eren balks, he already has too much on his plate. Rafet snarks, don’t you like traveling around with DAs and having fun?
Eren replies, it’s not like me to turn down a case, but DA Ilgaz will call, and you will be in trouble. That does the trick, Rafet calls over another cop. There’s a body at the cemetery [that does sound funny, doesn’t it?], it’s a man in his thirties. They said he had no ID. He had cuts on his arm or something.
Eren perks up. He turns back to Rafet—what did you say? Rafet repeats, the guy’ s got cuts on his arms. Eren realizes that this might be the guy they are looking for. That’s his nickname, Kesik means “cut”. Rafet tells the young cop, see that… see the power of the police? How he connected all the pieces? Get inspired, son, get inspired. Eren hurries off to take the case.
Yekta questions Hilmi. Omer takes notes. Hilmi thinks his situation is bad. Yekta says “bad” is an understatement. What kind of nonsense have you been involved in? What role do you play in this criminal gang? Tell me everything clearly, so I can put the emergency plan into action.
Hilmi explains, everyone has a weakness. Mine is gambling. I don’t know how I got into this mess. Selma and I almost split up over it. You think you’ll be out of it someday, but it never happens. Time goes by and the debt piles up. As they pile up, you belong to your creditors. You mean nothing to them. You’re walking money. You must do whatever they tell you and you obey.
Hilmi continues, I was called to a meeting, and I couldn’t refuse. It got ugly. It was a matter of credit and debit. People were killed in front of me. Some opportunist caught it on camera so he could blackmail them in the future. I don’t understand how the police and the DA got the video. How did they find me? I know one thing, if I can find this opportunist, I’ll crush him like a cockroach.
Yekta advises Hilmi, this is no time to act angry. You’re a famous celebrity. Don’t seek revenge. We need to focus on how to get you out of this. Tell us what you know, who you know. Give me details.
Ceylin, Osman and Ogze stop for tea. Ceylin asks Ozge, tell me what you did today. Did you go straight to the courthouse? Yes, by taxi. Ceylin asks, did you see the AG? What did you talk about? I told you, Ozge replies, I asked if they found out who killed Ridvan. He said they would. Then the envelope…
Ceylin interrupts and coaches, there is no envelope. No more envelope. You went to the courthouse, talked to Pars and left. You took a cab and went home, okay? Ozge nods. Ceylin continues, the cemetery and your house are not close. The driver made a mistake and you didn’t notice. You didn’t pay attention and didn’t realize you were near the cemetery. When you realized it, you asked and he said the usual, “I’m not from here.” [meaning he works on the other side of Istanbul.] So you went home and didn’t go anywhere, understood? Ozge says she’s got it.
Ceylin takes out her phone and calls Pars to see if he did anything with Cezik/Kesik’s address. Pars’ phone is off.
Eren and Ilgaz drive. Ilgaz looks at a file and notes that the agents didn’t see Kesik. Eren says they only heard his voice. He adds, “Kesik” must mean something. Besides, the gang that executed Selim, could have decided to execute him. They killed him then threw him in the grave. It’s possible. We’ll see. Ilgaz hopes it’s not true. The best thing for everyone would be to see Ridvan’s killer brought to justice. Eren concurs, especially for Pars and Ozge.
Derya tries calling Pars again. Not available. She calls Ceylin. Are you in the office? Ceylin is driving with Osman and Ozge. She tells Derya she is on her way there. Derya says she can’t reach Pars on the phone and asks if Ceylin saw him today. Did he call you? No to both. Derya is afraid Pars won’t be back at court. He wrote a resignation letter. He said he had to rush to the police station, but he didn’t show up there.
Ceylin is shocked, Pars resigned? Yes, Derya replies, he thinks he’s responsible for what happened to Ridvan. Why would he turn off his phone? Ceylin says it’s because he’s very upset. We all went crazy. I’m sure he will come back.
Derya thinks Pars could be playing a game with her because of the baby. Maybe he’s doing this to escape. I’m always trying to guess what he’s thinking. Ceylin tells her not to think. She says, I know my friend. He might want to be alone. Don’t worry, he’ll be back. Derya asks Ceylin to call her if she hears anything. Or tell him to call.
The man who bought the plot explains, I came here in the morning to bury my father. They dug the grave. We went to the mosque, prayed, and came back. When we arrived, I saw the grave was filled. There was confusion. They were looking for answers, so I took the shovel and started digging. I thought they filled it mistakenly. I shoveled the dirt and I hit something soft.
The man gets emotional. God forgive me, there was a corpse. My mother fainted out of fear. My sister fell. It was not my father, it was someone else. Eren and Ilgaz give their condolences. Eren asks the man to come to the station to give a statement. He asks, where will we bury my father now? Ilgaz calls to Umut, let’s help him. Find a new grave and get it ready. Let him bury his father with dignity. May God be pleased with you, the man replies.
Tugce is helping Gorkem ride a bicycle. [So that’s the earlier bicycle reference. The bike was for Defne?] Parla is taking video. Defne is smiling. Merdan comments, do you see that? That’s how easy it is to make a child happy. [Turkish] My princess came to her senses. You helped her more than the hospital. Merdan says he has a treat for them, apple compote. Merve goes to help Grandpa serve.
Defne helps Gorkem on the bike. Tugce returns to the table. Look at how happy Defne is. Cinar is happy, too. He says, from now on, I won’t let her out of my sight. Eyup’s help was just what we needed. We were lucky. Eye roll from Tugce. Since you mention Eyup, I have to ask. What happened to him? What will become of him? Will he spend his life in pool halls? Cinar doesn’t know, but Eyup can stay for a while. Don’t you like him, Tugce? Are you serious—he’s a freeloader, Tugce replies, how can you trust him? How well do you know him? He’s a human being, not a pet.
Cinar answers back, you can call him a freeloader, or call this humanity. Eye roll from Tugce again. Cinar continues, he saved my sister. They did this to him. Tugce says okay, a little distance wouldn’t hurt. Cinar tells her he’s sick of her drama. Go to therapy, take medication, go to the hospital. Get a grip. You talk like a know-it-all. Stop. [I’m officially offended on Tugce’s behalf.]
Well done, Tugce exclaims, keep doing the same thing. Keep being in the wrong. I hope one day you find yourself alone. And with that, Tugce gets up and leaves. Parla calls after her to no avail.
Anil has looked at Kesik and gives his initial findings to Ilgaz and Eren. He was killed with a gun, single bullet to the back. Approximately 25 to 30 years old. He was killed 3-4 hours ago at most. Goksu has additional info. Looks like a button from a woman’s coat. Fingerprints? Goksu says it would be difficult but she will try.
Ilgaz asks Eren if he can drop him somewhere. And make sure the cameras at the entrance and exits of the cemetery are checked. Eren asks, do you think that’s Kesik? I hope not, Ilgaz replies, I want to bring him to justice. [The old, “dying’s too good for him.”]
Ceylin stops her car down the road from where Ozge lives. She won’t go further because there are cameras there. They can’t record from here. She tells Ozge she can’t enter the house through the front. Go in another way. Ozge says she can use the back door. Ceylin reminds her—you went to the courthouse and then came straight home, okay? We’ll take care of it, don’t worry. Ozge thanks them both.
Tolga and Aylin arrive at the office at the same time. They wonder where Ceylin is. Aylin asks Tolga for any news. He says Ilgaz didn’t want the divorce. The judge suspended it. Good news! Aylin says Gul will be happy. Tolga notes that Ilgaz doesn’t leave the ones he loves so easily.
Rengin shows up at the office. She wants to speak with Ceylin. Tolga tells her Ceylin isn’t there but asks her to come in. I’ll call her and let her know you’re here. Rengin says she tried calling Ceylin but she didn’t answer. She doesn’t want to wait for Ceylin to return and asks Tolga to give her a message. I’m going to report that man. We’ll file a lawsuit. Tell her to call me as soon as possible.
Ilgaz shows up at Tilmen Law, where he comes face to face with Ayten. I don’t know who’s more surprised. She welcomes him as if she doesn’t know him. May I have your name? He’s stunned but plays along—Ilgaz Kaya. Aysun enters the room. Ilgaz tells her he’s there to see Yekta. Aysun says he’s in a meeting but she will let him know. Ilgaz asks Ayten for a glass of water.
Yekta is speaking to his team about Hilmi’s case. The man is a media figure. Much in demand on talk shows. A political analyst. We need to get him out of this unpleasant situation asap. A phone on the table rings. Yekta picks it up, but doesn’t answer.
Omer suggests getting Hilmi to confess, in part at least. Let him say he has a gambling addiction and deny the rest. That he was tricked, he was blackmailed. The usual story. Yekta replies, Hilmi will say “thanks, I thought of that too, but what’s the use now?”
Aysun enters the meeting. Sorry for the interruption, but DA Ilgaz is here to see you. What do I tell him? Now Yekta is surprised.
Ayten “explains” her situation to Ilgaz. I had a fight with the hairdresser, so I left. I’d been looking for a job for a while and a client recommended this place. Ilgaz isn’t buying it. Please, Ayten Hanım, it’s not a coincidence. Tell me the truth. Be honest or I’ll tell Yekta about this pleasant coincidence.
And we are out.
Thank you Carmella for your recap! I just finally caught up!!! And one of the novelas I was watching/recapping on Univision ended last night so hopefully I can stay caught up now!
I don't really understand why the orphanage wouldn't let Diego see Juan/Andres. I get how a restraining would keep him from adopting but why not let him visit? Juan/Andres had lost his memory, his family and only had one friend - it seems kind of cruel to keep Diego from him. Though I guess they could tell themselves that they were helping him move on. Ordinarily, I'd say a big fat no way to the idea of Braulio getting anywhere near the poor kid, keep him away, don't let him adopt!!! But surprisingly I'm all for this because:
1. Any adoption will be temporary, since surely Andres and Nuria will eventually reunite. 2. I don't think Braulio is going to exactly be a present parent and therefore it will just mean Andres hanging out with Amelia for in the meantime. Maybe he can even melt Martha's cold heart?
3. This gets him closer to Nuria! She's not going to dine at the Zepadas anytime soon I know, but surely she has a picture of Andres and Santi will see it, and the wheels will start spinning.... or at least one could hope.
I will feel bad for Diego though if/when this happens, but I bet Amelia would allow him visitation, and then he can do his own investigation into finding Juan's real parents as he promised.
Speaking of investigations, has Jacinto found out for sure that the dead boy wasn't Andres yet??? I am anxious for Nuria to at least find out her son is alive, or probably alive, even if we do have lots of story to go before they can be reunited.
Braulio is horrible but for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, I don't yet hate him as much as I should. I think it's something about how the actor is portraying him, like he isn't taking himself too seriously so I can't take him seriously either.
I loathe Fausto!!! That guy is just CREEPY!!!
Thank you Steve and Darcy. You bring up some good points, Darcy, regarding Andres impending adoption, and he will definitely get a lot of love from Amelia to boot!
ITA that Braulio doesn’t seem to take himself or anyone else too seriously, except maybe Santi, Roberto and Raymundo. But as for the women in his life, Nuria, Amelia, and Liana, he seems to think that they can’t live without him or something. That he’s the ultimate prize, and no matter how many times they say no or that they don’t want him, they must be lying——- well in Amelia’s case it’s kinda true, for now, lol……….
As for Jacinto, the Doc he went to in order to do the DNA test was unable to do it. Too much heat around the case right now. So while Jacinto’s suspicions are true, he doesn’t have the evidence to back it up………..
Only caught bits and pieces last night, but it seems Santi and Nuria had a conversation regarding her disdain for the Zepeda’s and neither one of the came clean about the other. They’re doing a lot of flirting tho, lol, and are almost to the point of acknowledging
that they’re in a “relationship.”
Lianna needs therapy———the girl’s damaged, and getting progressively more and more mental. At least she’s getting smart where Braulio is concerned and managed to tape his confession of everything.
Diego finally showed up! Yay! And there seemed to be an instant connection between him and Amelia….. I hope so. And at least she gave him a job and a means to see Andres on a regular basis.
Nuria’s antenna ears are up after Chelo called her and said that she and Fausto are getting married “ manana.” Lucky for Nuria——who just started her job, and doesn’t even have a ID yet——that her boss is Santi and he digs her enough to drive her back home.
Roberto’s hot on the trail of the phone and his suspicions are not boding well for him, or Braulio. He’s already got a bad heart and finding out that Braulio is behind all of this is either gonna give him a heart attack, or put him in a coma like the other guy Braulio tried to kill………
We’ll see……..
Thank you Carmella for starting the discussion. This comes on too late at night for me to watch live but I watched this morning.
I had the same thought about Lianna, I actually don't like that she's already this unhinged on like episode 17, where do you go from here? LOL If she's this crazy now she'll be what catatonic by the finale? It wasn't lost on me that she thinks she's responsible for her parents car accident and she almost lost it and ran Nuria over with a CAR!
I really liked that first scene with Diego at the orphanage where he finds out Diego is being adopted. It was really well done and so heart breaking in its simplicity. A lot of times scenes like that have yelling or sobbing but by having Diego just keep talking in a normal voice as his voice starting cracking more and more and tears silently falling down his cheeks, made you want to cry with him!
And yes, I definitely detected that instant connection moment for him, Amelia seemed affected a little bit later and not at first glance like he was, but I'm thinking whoever guessed Diego and Amelia would end up together is going to get their wish.... eventually. In the meantime, the other lady at the center, the one who gave Diego the initial bad news, was giving Diego looks of appreciation as well!
Yeah, I'm worried about Roberto. He grabbed his arm a couple of times in the episode when he was upset too, it doesn't look good.
Thank you, dondi356.
I can't believe Ceylin decided to get rid of Kesik's body. And in such a silly way. This looks like what Selim and his best man did at the wedding with the bride's body. And it's a crime! Why would she volunteer to commit this crime?! And get Osman involved.
There’s a body at the cemetery [that does sound funny, doesn’t it?] I chuckled with Eren there.
Thanks so much, dondi, for your terrific recaps! I have been MIA here for a few days. My weekend was full of events I needed to attend: a memorial service and a birthday/Halloween party. I have been able to watch the dizi, but haven't been on my computer much.
A question: Have they explained why Tolga appears to have a big wound on his upper lip? Or is my TV going on the fritz?
Was it a Telemundo cut? I found it odd they showed Ilgaz remove his coat and roll up his sleeves to speak with the head mafia honcho, but no dialog was shown after the words about his father and sister.
Yes, putting that body there was not good. But, when visitors came to the graveyard, Ceylin was scared someone would see them with the body and call the police. And I can't imagine a way they could have gotten the body away from there without someone noticing them doing it.
Does the Tilmen Law Firm only hire women whose names begin with Ay? I get confused and it seems they might be confused as well.
Knowing that scene is coming up with Ceylin and the bloody knife is a constant worry. My mind goes around like a hamster on a wheel trying to figure who set her up. Yekta? Big Bad Balkan Guy? Omer?
I'm also not over that awful Cezik murdering Ridvan for no reason. Also, Cezik means cut and mention was made of cuts on his arm. For some reason I was thinking the dialog meant tattoos of knives on his arms. He had scars from cuts?
Again, thanks for all your hard work with the recaps, dondi. We really appreciate the excellence and your clearing up misunderstandings.
I wondered too, Darcy, about Lianna. She really is getting more “cuckoo,” for lack of a better word, very early in the game. It’s taken her 5 yrs though, and apparently Santi is the trigger. I see a big guilt trip——-on Santi’s part—- a-coming……I also won’t be surprised if Lianna plays the pregnancy card……..
Yes, the Diego scenes were very well done and realistic. His love for Andres endears me to him even more, but eventually he will have to come clean about the accident. I’m looking forward to seeing how this all plays out between Andres, Diego, Amelia, Nuria and Santi……
Braulio is such a massive dirt bag!
Thanks so much, carmella, for the recaps and comments you've been putting up. As I mentioned in a comment on the secrets thread, I've been awfully busy and not using my computer much.
Yes, I loved the scene with Amalia and Diego meeting. At first, when she thought he was a violent person, she didn't want him to see Andres/Juanito. Now she's all the way into his being part of the boy's life. She's offered him a job teaching art to the orphans. Yay!
Yes, Braulio suffers from an inferiority complex because his brother is a total babe and the firstborn. He covers this up, in my opinion, by womanizing.
I thought they'd wait a bit longer for Braulio to find out Nuria is in D.F. Now he's having Tigre look for her. Uh oh. The one I'm curious about is Tigre. Why is he doing Braulio's bidding all the time? When they first introduced his character, he seemed like he might not be a bad guy and maybe gave Braulio the side-eye.
I have a bad feeling about Roberto also. It's too early for Braulio to be revealed for the rat he truly is. I'm fearing Roberto learning the truth about the phone that supposedly implicates Santi would finish him off.
Is there any way Consuelo can get out of marrying Fausto? And they did the same old, same old last night. There was actually a thing on Caray some years ago about how often someone is about to spill the beans and an interruption, usually by a villain of either sex, and nothing happens. Last night Chelo was about to, I think, tell Nuria about Fausto kidnapping Andres and, of course, he walks right in.
I'm confused about Fausto keeping telling Consuelo that it's her fault Andres "died". I know he's gaslighting her, but what part of the whole awful mess was her fault, other than keeping quiet?
Thanks for the kind words and comments.
ITA, Lucio, this is a huge blunder on Ceylin’s part. I was horrified. BTW, how many hidden bodies does that make for our characters?
novelera, there was no explanation for Tolga’s lip that I saw. I noticed it too. I guess something happened to him IRL.
There was no Ilgaz-Igor interrogation scene other than what we saw. We knew Igor wasn’t going to talk anyway.
About Cezik. The correct name is Kesik, meaning cut, slash or the like, and it should be pronounced exactly how it looks. Once again, bad captions and dubbing. In the original, an English translation had Kesik’s accomplice call him “Notch”. This made me think that Kesik kills and then cuts a notch in his arm. Like an Old West gunslinger cutting a notch in his gun. What a sicko.
Ayten spills to Ilgaz—Ceylin asked me to do it. [Yes, Ilgaz, she will never change.]
Osman is very upset over the Kesik affair. He does promise Ceylin he will keep the secret.
Metin has brought baklava to the station to thank everyone for working on his and Defne’s case. He offers it to Rat-fet. The Rat gives it a critical once over, but he does eat a piece. [remember Merdan’s special baklava?]
Rafet says, you came at the right time. We caught the gang that was after your family. He motions to a group of them. The leaders and the pawns. You got the leader too, Metin asks. He’s impressed. Rafet says Ilgaz interrogated the leader. He’s in his own cell.
Metin goes down to holding with baklava. The guard goes to get tea. Metin turns to Igor in his “private” cell. You’re the bastard that tormented my family and tried to kill me. Igor says he recognizes Metin as the DA’s father. Yes, Metin answers, and I’m still alive. You tried to kill me… but you will regret it. if you ever lay a hand on any of my children, I’ll strangle you with my bare hands… even if it’s the last thing I do.
Yekta’s meeting is over. Omer comes out of the office and stares at Ilgaz. Aysun tells Ilgaz he can go in to see Yekta.
Yekta welcomes Ilgaz and peeks down and around Ilgaz. Eren Komiser isn’t with you? This won’t be fun with out him. Ilgaz starts, we asked you to tell us what you knew. Yekta says he did. It was hard to find my sister, Ilgaz says. I didn’t know her whereabouts, Yekta replies. I’m not here to listen to excuses, Ilgaz states, I warned you. I asked you and told you my family was everything but you stayed quiet. Watch your step because I will to whatever it takes to stop you.
You know about attorney-client privilege, Yekta says, he asked me to put it in my safe. I didn’t know its importance. Then he asked me to keep it. We’re the reason you were able to carry out that mission. I thought you wanted to thank me. You’re welcome, Yekta smirks. Ilgaz warns, get ready to hand your clients over to your son because you’re not getting away with this!
Ilgaz gets in the elevator and pushes the ground floor. Just as the door is about to shut, an arm comes through. It’s creepy Omer. He presses 7. [lol, they are on 8.] He tells Ilgaz, I think I deserve your thanks. Ilgaz flatly replies, I don’t like you. [applaud here.] Omer answers, but Ceylin does. [whoa!] He gets out at his floor.
Omer enters Yekta’s office. He knows his father is upset. Yekta says, he wants to have me tried. He can try to do it, of course. I’m sick of this insolent gang. I’m especially annoyed with that conceited hero. He annoys me too, Omer says and adds, sometimes we have to be smarter to win the battle.
Ceylin comes to the Kaya house. Merdan answers the door. She asks for Defne and he says the kids bought her a new bike and took her and Gorkem to the park. Ceylin has something to ask Merdan. I think Pars received info on Ridvan’s killer. He received this info illegally. Are you involved?
Merdan fumbles for an answer. It’s okay, Ceylin says, you can tell me. Pars found out who the killer was and left the courthouse. His phone is off and we can’t get a hold of him. Maybe the person who tipped him off knows where he is. Merdan replies, you know I can’t go out. I don’t know where Pars is.
Something serious could have happened, Ceylin says, anything you know could be a great help. Merdan asks, do you know anything about the man you’re looking for? Do you think he is alive? I don’t know, Ceylin replies, but we haven’t heard he’s dead. Why do you ask? Merdan shakes his head, there’s nothing to worry about. AG Pars can’t go missing. He must have a plan. A good hunter watches his prey before he attacks.
Ceylin returns to her office. Tolga has been trying to reach her. She won’t tell him where she’s been [she can’t!] He has good news—Aydin’s wife came by. She wants to sue and wants to speak with you. Great, Ceylin replies, going to their home worked. Muhsin will pay for his crimes. We’ll talk to Zehra, too. There’s no statute of limitations in a harassment case. Sooner or later the culprit will pay.
Tolga leaves. Ceylin starts to change her clothes. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Ilgaz, he’s ticked. She asks, did something happen? He answers, I don’t know, we’ll soon find out. Why did you have Ayten work at Yekta’s law firm? How did you find out, she asks.
Ilgaz wants to know, what are you up to, Ceylin? Why are you playing with fire? She replies, I wanted someone we trust to keep tabs on him. And don’t look at me like that. I said it on my birthday but you all laughed. Yekta is obsessed with us. He unmasked Burak and put our family in danger. He planned to have Parla kill Serdar. We are in this mess because of you!
So, you’re out for revenge, Ilgaz asks, you’re going to achieve it by using Ayten? No, she replies, I’m going to use Omer. [this girl likes living dangerously.] She goes into the bedroom and unbuttons her blouse. Ilgaz comes to the door. He asks, is Omer following you? She doesn’t know.
Ilgaz enters the room and tells her, you won’t ask him for help. Why not, Ceylin asks. I don’t like him, Ilgaz replies. She asks, are you jealous? Ilgaz responds, stay away from that boy. He’s dangerous. Dangerous to whom, she asks. She’s flirting. Ilgaz repeats, stay away from that boy, I won’t say it again.
Ceylin is amused. Ilgaz carries on—if you are talking to him, stop it. Ceylin places her hand on Ilgaz, then her arms around his neck. You’re obsessed with Omer, she tells him. She pulls him close. I like that… I’ve never seen you like this. Now they are nose to nose. Ilgaz is faltering… promise you will, he says. She moves away and removes her blouse. I can’t, she answers. She puts on a sweater and leaves the room.
Dinner at the Erguvans. We hear the report on the casino raids on the TV. Aylin is happy because Ilcey didn’t divorce. Gul says she’s happy, too, but she would like to see a resolution. I’d feel better if they knew what they wanted. Aylin thinks they won’t get divorced.
Parla tells Aylin, I wish you and Dad wouldn’t divorce. Aylin asks where did that come from? Our situation is different. So what, Parla replies, Dad still loves you, he doesn't want a divorce. Aylin gets suspicious. Did your Dad ask you to talk to me? It’s over between us and he’s shamelessly using you.
Parla blows up. No, you don’t get to blame him whenever you want! I don’t want you to divorce! I want you to stay together! I want us to have a home! We had a house and I had a room! No matter how angry I was, we always had dinner together. We had breakfast together on Sundays and went for ice cream in the evening! We were happy, even if it was just a little, she cries.
That’s enough, Aylin replies. Parla continues, you always get your way. We always do what you want! Have you ever asked me what I want? I don’t want to live a life full of heartache! [says the girl who is falling for Cinar.] Ever since Inci died… our lives shattered, and we can’t seem to get it together. I hate everything around me! I hate it! I hate it! She runs into her room and slams the door.
Ilcey are driving to see Ozge. They receive messages at the same time. It’s the funeral announcement for Ridvan. He’s being buried tomorrow. Derya gets the same message. She calls Pars. Still unavailable.
Ilgaz rings the bell and Ozge answers. She falls into Ilgaz’s arms and looks over at Ceylin. Ceylin gives her a “remember what we said” signal. Ceylin prepares tea and brings water for Ozge. I know your pain is great, Ilgaz tells Ozge, we are all heartbroken. None of us can ease your pain but know that we’ll find the man who killed Ridvan. [I’m dreading that.] I’ll have him tried.
Ilgaz continues, if you think “this won’t bring Ridvan back”, you’re right. Nothing will. But I can at least bring his killer to justice, and it will help put out the fire that burns all of us. We pulled off a successful mission. We arrested the man who ordered Ridvan’s death. He hasn’t confessed yet, but I swear I’ll prove my case. His killer was a man named Kesik.
Ceylin interrupts to ask Ozge if she wants sugar in her tea. Ilgaz assures Ozge, this will all end soon. I’ll find Kesik and I’ll make sure everyone involved, everyone who had a hand in his death, are placed behind bars. I think I’ve made that clear. [too clear for Ceylin and Ozge. This is another tragedy in the making.]
Ilcey leave Ozge’s place. Ilgaz notes that Ozge doesn’t look well. Ceylin says, what did you expect? The man she loved is dead. There’s no going back now, Ilgaz says. I want to meet with Pars. We’ve been operating unquestioned. He didn’t ask about Kesik. Did you know he quit? Yes, she does.
Ilgaz doesn’t like that Pars has become very quiet. Ceylin suggests calling Pars before showing up at his place. Derya said his phone is off and that he wasn’t home. Ilgaz says he called him several times, but his phone was off. Ilgaz calls Derya to see if she’s heard from Pars. No, she hasn’t and it’s driving her crazy. Ilgaz says they will find out what he’s up to tomorrow at the funeral. [if he shows up.]
Ceylin asks about looking at Pars’ phone records. No way, Ilgaz replies, he’s the AG, we can’t do that without his permission. Ilgaz wants to go to the station to see if there’s anything on Kesik. Ceylin wants to go with him. She also wants to get something to eat.
Ilcey arrive with their take out döner. Umut informs Ilgaz there’s nothing new. Ilcey camp in Eren’s office. Ceylin digs into her food immediately. Eren comes and joins them. Ilgaz asks him, did you check the surveillance footage from the cemetery? Ceylin starts to choke. Drink water!
Eren says the only camera lis located at the main entrance. We didn’t notice anyone suspicious. Ceylin “innocently” asks, are you talking about a new case? Ilgaz tells her about the hastily body. The victim was shot. Eren says the guy had several gashes on his body. He motions to the arms. We think it’s Kesik but…
Ilgaz picks up from here, but we haven’t been able to identify the person yet. Eren says maybe it’s wishful thinking, maybe it’s a coincidence. We don’t know. [Ceylin knows.] No one mentioned Kesik in their statements. They know who he is but they’re not talking. Ilgaz thinks they might be obligated to protect him.
Ilgaz asks Eren about the button found at the scene. [don’t choke, Ceylin.] Any prints? No, Eren replies, Goksu would have called. Ceylin wants to leave. She reminds Ilgaz they promised to see Defne. We should go before she goes to bed. Ceylin feels a need to get out of there asap.
Ridvan’s funeral. Eren asks Ilgaz, have you seen Pars? No. I can’t help but wonder if I missed him among the crowd. [If he was there, Pars would have been right beside Ilgaz and Eren. Something is very wrong.] Eren and Ilgaz serve as pallbearers. Derya is wondering where Pars is, too. Dirt is shoveled into the grave. Al-Fatiha for Ridvan. Mourners give condolences to his family.
Eyup fixed the dishwasher at the pool hall. Saved them time and money. A worker says Eyup is a talented guy. [he’s also very mysterious.] More reason for Cinar to like Eyup.
Tugce tells Parla she shouldn’t be caught in the middle of her squabble with Cinar. I get that you want to stay with him, she says, he’s your boyfriend. But I need to say it—your boyfriend is an idiot! Don’t say that, Parla replies. [say it as much as you want, Tugce!] Tugce continues, then why does he bring lowlifes into our group?
Parla admits, can I tell you something? I think you’re right. That guy makes me uncomfortable, too. But then there’s Defne’s situation. Cinar sees him like a hero. It makes sense he would defend and protect him.
Exactly, Tugce exclaims. Which is why his explanation makes no sense. He saw Defne? He recognized her? I have a lot of questions. Tugce can’t take it. She wants to investigate. She asks Parla to find out Eyup’s last name. I’ll do the rest, she says. Parla agrees.
Eren calls Ilgaz. IT has a lead on Kesik. His real name is Cafer. We don’t have a last name, but we know he’s the son of one of the leaders of the organization.
Ceylin drops Ozge somewhere. Ceylin says, I waited a long time to get over Inci’s death. I tried to forget and ignore it. I failed to see how I snapped while I tried to bury the pain. I eventually realized that the pain wouldn’t go away. You have to learn to live with it. The wound will bleed every day, but you won’t die. You’ll laugh again… but the wound will remain, and it’ll never heal.
I loved Ridvan very much, Ozge says. Do you remember how I treated you when we first met? You’ve always been so strong, smart, and independent. [she left out: impulsive, vengeful, destructive, etc.] You call the shots in your life. When you see someone who has something you don’t… you get jealous. I’m sorry for what I said, for yelling at you. You have a kind heart [just don’t piss her off.] You’re not just strong for yourself. You’re strong for your family too. They hug.
Ceylin tries calling Pars. Unavailable. She calls Eren. Have you identified the body from the cemetery? Eren needs to call her back, he’s on his way to the detention center.
Ayten brings Yekta some chocolate. She asks him what are we celebrating? Did we forget a special day? Today is very special, he replies, we toppled a rook today. Three more to go. I don’t understand, Ayten says, but you know best. Perhaps a coffee and 40 years of history… he tells her, come in, let’s talk.
Yekta asks her, do you like the Tilmen firm? Do you like the place? Ayten says, yes, I’m very happy here. Yekta inquires, I assume the commute and transportation aren’t an issue. Your son, your husband… She interrupts, I’m not married.
Yekta says he’s surprised to hear that about a woman like her. Don’t you have children, he asks, where are you from? You don’t seem like a native. Are you from Thessalonica? I was born and raised in Istanbul, she replies. He asks about her education. He says, I ask too many questions, don’t I?
Ayten says it’s okay. I hesitate because I felt like I was being interrogated. Yekta says he wants to get to know everything about her. Down to the last detail. What do you say, Ayten?
Ilgaz enters Pars’ office. He looks at the files on his desk. He opens a drawer. Derya comes in. He tells her he was looking for clues that might lead to his whereabouts. That’s why she came, too. There’s nothing. It’s frustrating. He tells Derya, we all make mistakes. Every beauty has a flaw. Why run away when you can fix it?
Derya says a person died because of his poor decision. He can’t deny he had a hand in it. An innocent person died. It’s not easy to overcome. Think about it. How can he walk the halls and call himself AG now that Ridvan is dead? I don’t agree with it, but I understand. When you can’t carry out your duties, sometimes it’s better to leave with honor. I have to respect his decision.
Ilgaz can’t understand why Pars would leave without finding the culprit. Is he giving up? Derya thinks Pars left him in charge of that. He didn’t name a substitute, Ilgaz replies, and by law, he should have remained here for a month. Derya says a sub was assigned. But why leave us with this mess? I’m worried, Ilgaz. This isn’t normal.
Ilgaz mentions Ceylin’s suggestion of getting Pars’ phone records. Now I think we have to, he says. Derya reminds him they need authorization. Ilgaz says he’s going to meet with Judge Melek. She’s the head of the justices. Derya thinks it’s a good idea.
Pars, where are you?
And we are out.
Thank you novelera. Your input and comments are always thought provoking and helpful. I still struggle with “formally” recapping, so the input from our foristas fills in my weak areas and pulls the story together. I’m enjoying “Vuelve” so far.
So, Roberto confronts Liannna about the phone and its contents and calls her out on both her lies and culpability in the death of Alicia. Of course Lianna cries a river and tries to blame everything on Braulio, but Roberto ain’t having it! He’s very disappointed in her and asks for her resignation.
Nuria is with Chelo who is TOTALLY uninterested in her upcoming nuptials, and looks sadder than any bride ever could. Nuria asks Fausto if everything is ok, but of course he lies and says that Chelo is sad because she misses Nuria so much. Nuria believes him, but I think she still senses something, and since Chelo is going along with Fausto, she’s dismissing her spidey sense. Fausto’s got “ick” written all over him, and he’s always kissing Chelo——like YUCK!!
Andres/Juan is with Diego and about to go to his new home for the first time as the “adopted” son. One would think that the orphanage would’ve done a lot more to make sure that Andres was indeed abandoned before adopting him out, but we’re in telenovela land and this moves the story along. There is a time frame for the adoption process I’m sure. Anyhoo, Andres is geeked by the welcome he receives and his new room. Still, all he thinks about is Diego and says so, lol. Everyone is so welcoming except——who else? Martha!——-she really dims all the lights when she walks into a room!
And how about that Valentin! He really threw a wrench in Braulio’s plans! Yay!! Valentin gives his shares of the company to his new grandson, and delegates a trustee to oversee everything until Andres becomes of age! Go Valentin! He so smugly tells Braulio, “do you think that I’d leave my daughter and grandsons wellbeing in your care?” Or something to that effect, and the look on Braulio’s face was priceless!
Lianna gives Roberto her resignation as he asked. Roberto comes home and meets his new grandson, but his knowledge of what Braulio has done overshadows what would normally be a very happy occasion for him. He tells Braulio that he wants to talk to him, but in the office. Roberto calls Santi to tell him that he loves him, and also has a tearful “te amo” with Martha before leaving to go to the office…… and we definitely get the feeling that this is Roberto’s last hurrah…..
Santi is with Violeta’s dad at the prison, and updates him on all the current events, like Gaitan’s being the real guilty person, and on Violetta getting a job at the clothing store. Santi tells him that Violetta still wants nothing to do with him, but he’s grateful that Santi has looked out for Violetta.
The wedding preparations continue and the wall seems to be holding up Chelo. She really just needs to come clean, or be a runaway bride, but Fausto is sticking to her like super glue. It’s disgusting……
On a lighter note, Eugenia sees Chalo and expects a little bit more than just a hello and good morning from him. He really seems pretty detached from the kiss they shared, and says so. Eugenia leaves in a huff, and he just stands there looking dumb, like “what did I say?” Duhhhh……
Everyone is waiting, but Chelo refuses to go out for the ceremony. Nuria goes into talk to her, but still doesn’t get that something is really bothering Chelo. Then the demon Fausto comes in and threatens Chelo as usual, and she relents. Jacinto show up, and Chelo and him share a look as she’s standing next to Fausto and before the preacher or whatever he is……
Thanks, Dondi.
Ceylin has nerves of steel. I'd have beads of sweat pouring out, but she keeps her cool. I'm feeling bad for her. Ozge should've turned herself in to the police, temporary insanity after being brutalized by Kezik. Just the matter of her taking Derya's gun and bringing it with her.
Now I'm fearing for Ayten, who doesn't seem to intuit that Yekta has discovered she's a plant.
Ceylin stripping down to her bra in front of Ilgaz was a surprise. The dizis I've seen have been more conservative. I loved Ilcey getting together of course.
Carmella, thank you so much for the excellent recap. I dont know what they are saying , so I have to rely on the visual.
I have seen the little boy playing Andres\Juan in several telenovelas on Unision ,and he is quite a charmer . He was in " Amarte es mi camino" , and the actress playing Amelia was a baddie and Violettas's father ( the guy in prison )was her father and a good guy . I enjoy seeing the actors jump from show to show and it seems from Univision to Telemundo .
Fausto is very creepy . Now Jacinto has arrived . Will Con go through with the wedding ?
Martha is a real Debbie Downer always there to rain on any parade. Even adorable Andres\juan couldn't cheer her up .
Carmella, thank you! I enjoy your recaps and I see no struggle at all! You capture the heart and the meat of the episode and are able to do it with a brevity I envy! It takes me too long to write recaps because I don't know how to be brief! lol
Yep, it's shocking that a center would adopt out a kid with amnesia so quickly and with very little investigation. Hopefully that wouldn't happen in real life!! What a nightmare! It's going to be very painful for Amelia when the truth comes out.
I agree Valentin was the MVP of the night! I love that he gave Juan the shares immediately and put it in a trust. It shows an unconditional love and commitment to his new grandson and that he's smarter than Braulio! I wonder if it's an irrevocable trust? LOL What happens when Juan goes back to being Andres? Too soon to wonder I know, but it crossed my mind.
Marta didn't even warm slightly... I don't know about a woman so cold she can't even play nice with a child!
I can only smh at these novela plots where it's painfully obvious that the bride wants to be anywhere but here and yet her doting family doesn't notice that she's miserable!!! I feel bad for Chelo but she's choosing her own path. Novelera asked about how Fausto had Chelo convinced that it was her fault Andres 'died' and I am not sure about this, but what I recall is he said something about how he chose to kidnap Andres because Chelo was always complaining about him and about having to be with him. If she hadn't done that he would have never gotten the idea to 'save' her from the kid.... or something like that.
Thank you so much Susan for your comment. My “recap” is still pretty basic, but I will try, moving forward, to give more of the characters conversations when it’s something important.
Yes Andres/Juan is a charmer, and a handsome little guy to boot! I can’t imagine the Amelia character being a baddie——from her portrayal here——but it’s all a part of the job, and it shows their acting range when they’re not typecast…….
Fausto is beyond creepy! He’s a horny, lying, abusive, manipulative psycho! The way he’s always kissing Chelo, while threatening and hurting her at the same time makes me sicker than sick! I really want Jacinto to put his paws on him, and beat the crazy crap outta him!
Carmella, well, there is a lot of crazy crap in Fausto. Perhaps Jacinto will team up with Santi . That would be a winning team.
Diego and Amelia seemed to have an instant attraction , so I hope they are endgame .
Can't wait to see what happens tonight .
