ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #109

Notes from the couch . . .

Page 1

1. Martina tells Rogelio that he is crazy resigning. He tells her that Fernando is more than capable to take over running the company. Martina says that he might as well be giving his shares to Ignacio. She hopes that Fernando is happy with finally getting what he always wanted. She tells them the visit is OVER and they can all go. That includes Gabriel who can go hang out with "that woman" for all she cares.

2. Fernando takes Luis and Marco out for drinks and to discuss Rogelio's decision. Fernando says their mother is the problem like she has always been. Marco says their mother is going to need some time to get used to his decision. Truth be told, Fernando was bothered about what his mother had to say.

3. Later, Martina tells Gabriel that she brought up her sons to be strong and united and then Rogelio had to do this. Gabriel tells her that she had nothing to do with Rogelio's decision. The problem with Rogelio is that he had so much responsibility put on him from such a young age. She asks what was she supposed to do. Rogelio was the first born. He was supposed to be the one to keep the family together which he did until now. Gabriel suggests that she is doing to Rogelio the same thing that her father did to her. She is loading him up with responsibilities and expecting him to sacrifice his life for that.

4. Rogelio tells Paula that he is resigning. She feels like she was the last to know. He said that it happened like it did because he came to the decision so quickly. She doesn't like feeling as if she were side-lined and reminds him that she, Lucas, and Jazz are a part of his life, too. She wants this to be the last time that he excludes them.

He tells her about what it was like growing up. He had to deal with Fernando's outbursts, Luis' illness, Marco's rebellion and whatever else his mother imposed on him. It isn't only because of the family pressure that he wanted to leave the company. The other reason was that he finally realized that he has to do what he wants to do, what he likes to do. Paula readily supports that desire.

5. Paula dreams of walking in a park and a lady giving her a crown of flowers to wear on her head. She awakens with a smile on her face and kisses Rogelio as he sleeps.

6. Cass tells Eva that she thinks she has cut it off with Ignacio for good. She is going next week to an international fashion conference in Milan and is planning on staying longer to travel around Italy. Ignacio interrupts the call and asks Cass out to eat. He promises her he will take only one hour of her time.

7. Blanca is in tears when she tells Marco how upset she is that she is pregnant when that wasn't in their plans. She is willing to have the baby and raise it on her own with Micaela's help. Marco smiles and kisses her. Evidently there is no problem pregnancy.

ETERNAMENTE

Page 2

8. Denís offers Gabriel a piece of cake. He takes it and Martina says he cannot have it because it isn't good for him. Denís didn't know that she was his doctor. Martina says she is his doctor and his everything. Denís decides she will eat it herself. She will be seeing that "galán" Gabriel around and gives him a wink.

9. Paula asks Rogelio how he came to the decision that he didn't want to be the head of the company or the family any more. He says it was seeing Lucas fight for his desire to study music and follow his dreams. Paula thinks that every human being needs to follow their dreams and she'll always support him. Rogelio says now he needs to discover what he really wants to do.

10. Rather than having walked with Cass to a restaurant, Ignacio has taken her to an orphanage. He tells her he wants to grow old with her. Also, for them to be parents, a child doesn't have to be biologically related to them. Cass seems pleasantly surprised but says she needs time to make such an important decision. She will have to think about it.

11. Paula visits Fernando in the garden. She gives him hope that he might be able to get Imelda back. She knows that Imelda loved him at one time considering how long she was with him and their two marvelous children. She is also sure that he still loves her. She thinks that maybe Imelda needs to feel valued. Fernando thanks her and says he will think about what she said.

12. Ignacio pays Martina a visit and brings her chocolates. She is happy to see he is recuperating. He asks why she decided to close herself up in here. Martina explains because she didn't want to be a burden to her family, they could care for her and they could keep her safe. He is afraid that she will end up like his mother. Martina says all is well because she is there voluntarily. She has a favor to ask Ignacio. Since Rogelio is going to resign, she would like him to be there for Fernando. Ignacio is surprised by Rogelio's decision. Martina says it will be announced at the next board meeting. He tells her no worries, he will support Fernando. They share the chocolates.

13. Luis video calls Andrea. She makes a big deal of making sure that he sees the engagement ring on her finger. When he finally realizes what she is doing, he gets very uncomfortable and starts to complain that the transmission isn't very good. She tells him that Carmelo wants to get all of his and her friends together to celebrate. Luis is invited. Luis cuts the call short saying he is really busy right now and he will get back to her. He congratulates her and hangs up. He is miserable.

14. Rogelio has called a special board meeting where he asks all the members to vote on several proposals. He tells them he will be resigning after the vote is taken. He has assigned the following positions. JJ is to be the comptroller, Ignacio the administrative director, Fidel the operational director, Marco will continue as the assistant director of maintenance and workshops and Fernando will be the new president. Everyone votes yes to all of the proposals. Rogelio says his part is now over and starts to leave. Fernando thanks him and hugs him. Rogelio tells him there is nobody better than him and Fernando smiles.

15. Regina and Lucas try to get her father to ask Cecilia to be his nova. Ricardo tells them to stop playing Cupid!

16. Blanca tells her boss that everything is going well with the job and just yesterday she found out that she is pregnant. He congratulates her and tells her to get back to work. As soon as she is gone, he calls HR.

ETRRNAMENTE

Page 3

17. Still at the board meeting, Gabriel tells everyone that he is transferring all of the shares that Martina gave him to administer in equal numbers to Rogelio, Fernando, Marco, Luis, Ignacio and Fidel. Everyone thanks him. Fernando ends the meeting.

18. Ricardo sees Cecilia at the music school when he brings over Lucas and Regina. He invites Cecilia out for a coffee. Paula offers to take care of Camilo so she can go.

19. Cass tells Eva about Ignacio and the orphanage. it doesn't matter to him she cannot get pregnant. She says she told him she would think about it but she really does want to have a family.

20. Melitón has another envelope for Honoorio. This message reads :"My heart beats like a drum each time I think of you. Signed: an admirer. "

21.Paula calls Eva to tell her that she located Norma in Mexico City and is going to go see her. She needs help to make sense of her dreams/memories. She invites Eva along. Eva has a convenient excuse to not go.

22. Felipa has another envelope with a poem for Micaela. Micaela opens it in the kitchen and has a hard time hiding her joy from Felipa's watchful eye as she reads it to herself. Felipa looks happy.

23. Imelda goes to see JJ about a work topic. She asks where to start. He thinks they should start with how they feel about each other. She is shocked. He admits that he is crazy about her. He is in love with her. He kisses her. She pushes him away and slaps him. She asks how would he ever think he had a chance with her. He says he saw her reject Fernando daily. She informs him that he can't hold a candle to Fernando. She quits and says that Fernando was right about him all along.

24. Cecilia and Ricardo have their coffee. His sister helps take care of Regina when he cannot be home. As for Regina's mother, they do not see her much. He is basically a single father. Ceciiia admires him. She tells him about the letter that Regina sent her. She has to admit she is interested. He is looks happy.

25. Imelda tells her mother that poor Fernando was right about JJ all along. Beatriz sees JJ's attentions in a different light and thinks that Imelda should go for him since he would be a better choice that Fernando. Imelda now understands Fernando's jealousy. He was only trying to protect her. Imelda is not interested in what Beatriz has to say.

26. Blanca is called to HR.

27. Rogelio visits Martina who is still is not pleased with his decision. He explains that he had his time at the company, now it is Fernando's turn. He adds that he is not disappearing and will always be there for whatever they need. Martina isn't happy with his decision but can wish him good luck with whatever he decides to do next.

ETERNAMENTE

Page 4

28. At HR, Blanca finds out that she is being fired. How? She signed a contract. The representative tells her that in that contract the company reserves the right to break the agreement when they find it pertinent to do so. She concludes she is being fired for being pregnant. The rep says she never told them when she was when she was hired. She says she didn't know she was pregnant when she was hired. She refuses to sign anything and informs him they will see each other soon.

29. Beatriz decides to not let JJ slip away. She arranges a meeting with him trying to get him to not give up on Imelda. She is sure if he romanced her, she would forget Fernando. JJ has to admit that Imelda isn't interested in him . She loves Fernando. Beatriz won't take no for an answer. JJ has had enough. He leaves plenty of money to cover the bill and is out of there.

30. Marco brings the board up to date on his project. They are all impressed with his progress and tell him to project the amount of investment capital that the next stage of is project will take.

31. Denís and all of the ladies make Gabriel a hot commodity at a dance lesson. Martina says he cannot dance because of his leg. Gabriel says he cannot dance because of the plates in his knee. Martina clearly is not a fan of the dance lessons.

32. Beatriz calls Ignacio so she can get her foundations moving along. Ignacio admits that so much that has happened lately, he just cannot help her out with that anymore. Beatriz is irate. She will create her foundation with or without him.

33. Beatriz's husband Rubén has just arrived from working out. A frustrated and angry Beatriz tells him that Ignacio will not help her fund her foundation. He is as bad as his mother was. Rubén has to chuckle and tells her that she only wants a foundation to hurt Martina because she never was at her level in society. She always wanted to be just like Martina. She tells him to go take a bath because he stinks. He happily leaves her alone.

34. Blanca goes to the local "labor board" (?) with Marco where she tells the representative what happened at work. She tells Blanca that she did the right thing. Marco backs her all the way.

35. Cass brings a bottle of wine to Ignacio's place. They toast to their upcoming marriage and to the child they will adopt.

36. Gabriel visits Martina. She is sick of all of his ridiculous situations with all of the women. He tells her she shouldn't be angry. Her family loves her and he loves her more than everything. She should enjoy what she has. He tells her not to laugh. He can tell she is laughing behind her eyes. She breaks out in real laughter.

ETERNAMENTE

Page 5

37. Blanca tells Micaela about what happened at work and how Marco stood up for her.Blanca says she didn't file a complaint only for herself but she also did it for all the other women who are going through the same thing. It is such an injustice.

38. Rogelio tells Pedro that he quit. They toast to that. Pedro is also into big changes. He has an appointment tomorrow with a franchise who wants to buy his restaurant.Rogelio thinks it will be sad to see it turn into a cold place with lots of plastic. Pedro asks why Rogelio would care anyway. Rogelios says he likes the place. Pedro cannot believe that NOW he is telling him that he "likes the place."

39. Paula arrives at Norma's house in Mexico City. She is greeted by the biggest smile and hug ever as Norma refers to her as "her little girl" She invites Paula in to sit. She took care of Paula when she was a little girl. Paula almost lived with her and her son Valentín who always liked her. She thinks Paula is just beautiful. While Norma goes into the kitchen for water, Paula looks around the living room. She seems to recognize a picture on the wall and it brings back memories of her sitting there crying for her mother and her father. She starts to cry again.

TRIVIA: Norma is played by Beatriz Moreno who was a recurrent character (Doña Efgenia Cruz) in all four of the "Vencer" offerings as well as the soon to be broadcast "Vencer la culpa."

That is it for me. Please feel free to add anything else you remember.

The recap will be up in a bit.

I don't get Martina. Why Rogelio resigning will suddenly separate the family? When she starts talking like this, I remember how much I cannot stand her. It's really sad she has no faith in Fernando. After all, Fernando is the way he is because of how she raised her kids. So she is partly the reason and she also sort of doesn't like the result of her own actions but Fernando is the one who suffers. Martina keeps repeating she's not pleased with rog's decision as if by saying this she will get him to change his mind. I bet that was usually the case. I wonder if she realised Gabriel had a point or if she still thinks she is right. I wish Paula had said it was wrong of Martina to put so much responsibility on Rog instead of the usual platitudes. At least she could have said times were different back then or something. Martin'as my way or the high way attitude will never disappear completely, which is a shame. She says she is tired of Gabirel's nonsense and I think he has the patience of a saint because I find her rather childish. Jealousy should really stop being such a staple of telenovelas.
Can Luis please stop calling Andrea? This is just absurd.
Paula made me laugh with her 'she must love you because she's stayed with you for so long'. Does she still believe in fairytales or what? People can be together for a long time for reasons other than love. It's not like these two have been married for a decade. But it's funny to hear such a thing from a character who is supposedly an adult. Besides, It's not only imelda who needs to be valued. Hasn't Paula heard things she says to Fernando? Why keep pushing this plot with such a dialogue? I want things to sound at least somewhat believable. And jealousy is never 'protection'. It's a man feeling insecure and not trusting his partner, at least in Fernand'scase that's what it is. Someone should have corrected that Imelda's statement.
I really dislike it that if a woman can't get pregnant, a man not minding it is some kind of achievement on his part. At least the way it's phrased makes it seem so. If he does mind, that's his problem. It feels unfair that just because women are the ones capable of being pregnant, the fact menaren't bothered that they can't is something women see as proof of how great a guy is. Maybe it makes sense, but it makes me mad instead.
It's so funny that JJ thought Imelda rejecting her own husband meant she was interested in him. Does he really have such a good opinion of himself? Or do men love assuming women are interested no matter what? Because I can't imagine how JJ came to that conclusion.
Ignacio and Casandra's situation is odd to me. She told him she doesn't like that he only apologises and doesn't change his behaviour. But once he said he wants to adopt, this doesn't seem to matter anymore. But what has this to do with the issue she brought up? It's suddenly all fine?

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 41, Jueves, 26 de Octubre, 2023

"That's my grave! I'm dead, I'm dead!" - Part 1/3

We see the last scene of the previous episode again. Leo asks the masked woman, who is actually Emi, if she wants any help. She doesn't say anything, she leaves with Danilo and Aleida, who have also covered their faces.

Sara tells her dad she's pregnant. He asks her who's the father and she replies it's not his business and she'll be a single mother. She mentions his lover and leaves. Addled isn't looking too keen on his daughter being a single mom; he asks Jen who's the father and adds that if she wants to help, she'll tell him. She says it's Leo.

Leo tells Joaquina about the woman he hit with his car.

Gigí tells Seb they have to talk about Emi.

The doctor says to Danilo and Aleida that Emi has to stay put, they can't ruin everything they've done so far (with her treatment).

Gigí says she understands Seb not trusting her because she's a friend of La Patrona. She tells him she wants to start her political career and she has to have a cause(? I couldn't find any other translation) to solve and she wants to clear Emi's name. She basically wants information on Emi. Seb replies that with all the respect, she should find another cause to build her career on. Gigí claims she's not only doing it for politics, but Seb doesn't seem to believe her. He politely tells her to get out.

Dan tells Emi she's strong. "But I feel empty", Emi replies. We already have an almost-galán to deal with, we don't need there to be 2 in order for us to be more mad at Leo. FF-->

This scene is probably the second most ridiculous one yet (the possessed theory cannot be defeated). Roberta claims she was always worried about the people of San Lorenzo, something the church women from the "possessed" scene (I'm 90% confident they're the same) quickly agree with and add that she has given body and soul for the town (¿qué? Are they on something?). Oh, unlike Emi, of course. But they're not done; they agree they have to kick out Zaira and her family because she's a witch (THE REAL WITCH IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!), to not end up in hell like Emi. Come on, now.

Addled arrives in the company and demands to talk to Leo. He talks very derogatorily to his wife. Seb defends her and Addled sneers and says something like "you're taking her place? Why? It doesn't seem like you want her for..." Times like these I wonder why teleportation to fictional shows on TV and punching their characters isn't a thing nowadays. Seb says he defends every woman and asks Addled to respect his wife. He finally leaves, not before making a scene. Gigí tells Seb she's very different than her husband.

Salvador (the miner who Roberta promised she'll take to the hospital if he lied and said he put the explosives in the mines, but at the end was killed anyway)'s mom is talking to Roberta. She's ill. "I did what you asked me to. I didn't tell anyone about my son. I don't have enough money to pay for my treatment." Roberta says she's lucky she's outside of a church. (Haha. Very funny.) Sal's mom says that she'll tell everyone about Salvador's murder if Roberta doesn't give her the money she needs and starts screaming that they killed her son and Emilia helped them (the town people, not Rob and her allies). Rob shushes her and says she'll meet her tomorrow to give her the money at a place she'll tell her. Sal's mom agrees.

Nico says something to Leo about maybe getting another girlfriend? Leo thinks of Sara telling him she's pregnant. He tells Nico he'll always love him and that won't change.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 41, Jueves, 26 de Octubre, 2023

"That's my grave! I'm dead, I'm dead!" - Part 2/3

Emi, meanwhile, is sad about Leo. Aleida says she knows it's hard and it seems impossible, but she has to forget about Leo and her family. "We have to start a new story", Aleida adds. Emi says she can't and doesn't want to be strong anymore. Dan says they're here to help her.

Leo tells Sara he wants to be responsible about their kid. Sara says she can do it alone. Leo replies that he knows, but it's their kid.

Aleida and Emi are walking outside. Suddenly, they see Salvador's mom! Roberta comes with Ezequiel and gives her some cash. Sal's mom says her son's life was worth much more than that (geez, isn't your loved ones' lives supposed to be invaluable?) She mentions Mauricio and Roberta says "hasta en los perros hay razas" (there are races even in dogs) - that Mau had a status, unlike Sal. Rob tells her that if she causes problems, she'll pay with her other kids' lives. Sal's mom attacks Rob, Rob hits her and orders Ezequiel to sent Sal's mom to her son. Rob leaves as Ez points the gun at Sal's mom.

Sara asks Leo if he's sure; she's surprised he didn't ask for a paternity test, with a guilty face. Leo says he trusts her (why?) Sara thanks Leo, but says she doesn't want her child to be raised in a separated family. She just told him because he has a right to know. Leo tells her they have to talk about this again. (Come on. Sara, out of all people, would be okay with being a single mother? Why would she lie to Leo then? It must be a trick to get him to marry her - hence the "separated family" bullcrap.)

Ez is taking his time with Sal's mom, for unspecified reasons. Just enough time for Em to grab a rock, run behind his back and hit him with it on the neck. Sal's mom runs away without even thanking her. Dan comes and sees Ez. He tells them to leave. Ez appears dead, but he's not. Dan hits him and he falls to the ground, again.

Joaquina hugs Marijó. Jo begs Rob to let Mar stay here, but she replies she's (Jo's) just a servant. Nico comes and cries about Mar. He also begs his grandmother to let Mar stay. He even says she told him he's a patroncito and he wants Mar here.

Dan tells the rest what happened. Aleida is shocked he knows the cop, Dan said it wasn't under the best circumstances LOL. They leave. As they go to their car, Ez, who's STILL not dead, sees them and starts shooting at them like a crazy person. Dan FINALLY manages to start the car and they drive away.

Addled demands Leo marries Sara "to not lose her status". He even says that she would rather see her be a widow and his grandchild an orphan than seeing her as a single mother! He says something about "this time". Leo asks him why he said that, was there another time? Addled starts mumbling (I assume he means the Míriam business). Leo puts him to his place.

Rob tells Nico that the patrones are special, but for now he's just a kid. Mar is forced to leave. Rob holds Nico back as he screams at her to let him go. All this abuse though, geez.

Our crew go to Emi's mother's house. Aleida says she has an uncle who can help them. She calls home, but she finds out he passed away three years ago. He left her a fortune, but no one could contact her. She has to come to claim what's hers.

Leo is not being annoying for a change! He says there's no woman like Emi when Lolita, the secretary, tells him he's young and can find someone else. "I don't know how to be happy without her", he adds.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 41, Jueves, 26 de Octubre, 2023

"That's my grave! I'm dead, I'm dead!" - Part 3/3

Emi looks at pictures of her family. Aleida sees them too. Emi wants to see them, but Al says she can't, they'll put them in danger. She has to accept their lives will have to go on without her, for now. They can't face Roberta now. It's not the right time.

Rob is now legally in the mine business, since Emi is "dead", Nico is a minor and Mau is dead. Addled bursts in the room and tells Roberta Leo has to marry Sara because he got her pregnant. Roberta uh, smiles?

Seb has a funeral-thing for Emi in the mines. Tigre is back in the mines!!! They say they have to honor Emi's memory by working.

Sara tells Leo she quit from the company (Leo's company in the capital). Leo starts talking about their baby, but Sara says it's HER baby.

Addled is still screaming about the stupid boda (wedding). La Patrona mentions Míriam and his bastard (!) son. She pretty much says that if Addled doesn't stop his divorce with Gigí there will be no wedding. She says she doesn't want Gigí to be that empowered.

Al and Dan take Emi to see... Well, "her" grave. Useless fun fact: Emi is 27 years old, according to her tombstone. She sees Nico's drawing and cries "that's my grave! I'm dead, I'm dead!"

Roberta walks in the mine offices. Tigre asks her what's she's doing here and Rob says she's also a business partner as Nico's legal guardian.

And with Tigre's not-so-happy face, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Thank you Jarifa for another spectacular report from your couch! I hope that you have more couch time tonight and not only for recapping reasons, but so you have time for rest and relaxation!

There's something about seeing Ignacio and Martina eating chocolates together that makes me smile. IMO it's the most unlikely friendship within a show that has produced quite a few unlikely friendships, but it works. I think the first time I knew Ignacio wasn't a horrible person even though he'd done some awful things was when he found Martina in his bed in the middle of his war on the family and he treated her with compassion and concern instead of going off on her like he could have.

I agree with Waterlily about the Lucas and Andrea calls but I don't think they will stop. I also don't think Carmelo exists! It's a very odd way to try to draw out your ex, and I am not sure what she is doing or what she wants to accomplish but I think she's lying. I'm basing this on the look on her face, not last night, but the episode before when Luis said he was dating too, she definitely looked pained. I find this whole storyline both absurd and sad, especially since I suspect it's endgame, who needs all that deception and game playing in a relationship?

The relationship between Imelda and Fernando is another one I think they ruined by making it too nuanced....Well, that and making Fernando too whiny. It was never a great relationship but it was almost working in a way....Boy loves girl, Girl wants the older brother but marries boy for money and status, couple fight and fight but somehow find some common ground and feelings start to grow, girl falls for boy and children start popping out. It's not the great american love story but it was okay before they added JJ and the whole argument over whether or not Imelda can work. Now, we're left with a mess you can't even root for.

I would have liked to hear Marco's thoughts on the baby, but I'm not surprised by his reaction. Not that I believe everyone who says they don't want children secretly wants them but there's something about looking at the vulnerability of life (ie. Martina's disease) that might change the way you view the beginning of life... of course he might change his thoughts again when the baby is crying all night and he can't sleep! LOL

Blanca's supervisor is a tool!! Someone should hit him in the face with a pie!!! I hate to say it but my first thought when she told him she was pregnant was 'she shouldn't have told him!!!' It's sad that we live in a society where you instinctively know a pregnant woman with a new job should not disclose her pregnancy until she absolutely has to.

Jarifa, a masterpiece that had me on the edge of tears. Joyous ones. So pleased that various characters “look happy”.

“Micaela opens it in the kitchen and has a hard time hiding her joy from Felipa's watchful eye as she reads it to herself” was a joy to behold.

Why did I wonder for even a moment if Marco would be supportive and loving hearing Blanca is pregnant? Shame on me…

We knew JJ would pounce, didn’t we?? At least he didn’t align himself with Beatriz. He isn’t totally delusional, just mostly.

Alas, Martina regressed. “She hopes that Fernando is happy with finally getting what he always wanted. She tells them the visit is OVER and they can all go” and “Martina says she is his doctor and his everything” was a bit much. Get over yourself.

I don’t blame Gabriel for being annoyed Martina took that cake – it looked delish! 😊

Couples don’t have to share every thought but Paula being the last to know was a bit “off”. I can’t shake the feeling Rogelio is self-centered at times.

Luis is just pathetic at this point.

I’d mention Martina’s pretty blue blouse (that she’s worn before) but I’m disappointed in her so won’t!

Off to the dentist ☹ - more later..

Enternamente

I forgot to say, I like that they are supporting Marco's project at the company but I didn't like that Fernando called him 'Marquito' in the meeting, it's condescending and unprofessional and says a lot about how the brothers still view him. Notice he's the only brother who is an 'assistant director'. Yes, he's young but Rogelio was probably already running the company at his age, he was certainly a full director...

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa, your notes are the perfect way to start the day.

I was so proud of Blanca for refusing to sign and going to the labor board to report the company. And also happy they both are happy about the baby. They’re probably my favorite couple at this time.

It’s obvious Martina doesn’t have a lot of confidence in Fernando running the company but neither do I. He always acts like a spoiled brat who thinks he knows best. I’m sure he and Imelda will get back together but don’t know if they’ll ever have a smooth, happy marriage. I see them always bickering.

Beatrice has gone from a minor character to the one we want to see get what’s coming to her. At least JJ knew no means no. And her husband apparently knows exactly what she’s like.

Just a prediction, but I think Martina will get sick of all these woman going after Gabriel and decide they need to move out. My sister-in-law went into an assisted living place after her husband died and she said the woman outnumber the men. Only about 6 men. But she said none of the woman chase after the men, which is something I heard about these places.

I’m anxious to see what Felipa has planned for the final step in getting Honorio and Micaela together.

Liz

Weirdo, thank you so much for that excellent report on all the happenings . wow.

Danilo is another hombre hopelessly devoted to Emilia even though she is currently looking like a scary clown . Em's mojo is very, very strong. Who knew this guy was going to play such a key role in Em's tragic tale? I still cannot believe it is Rodrigo Brand !

Wow....how fortunate that Aleida makes one phone call and discovers that she has a huge inheritance from her tio! What luck. How long before these three amigos turn that fortune into a mega fortune and return to defeat the evil Patrona.

Still in love with Seb , defender of all women ....but Danilo is a strong contender now. Hopeless devotion is very attractive.

Leo, on the other hand , looks like I feel when I am looking at him....hopeless without the devotion. And now, he is about to walk into a marriage because he thinks that baby is his. Poor little fool.

Minas
I still don't get how Mari just left like this without Leo realising. Does he only come to visit Nico? What about her?
I have to admit that his entire speech about how he couldn't live without E bored me, especially given the fact he failed her. It's too late to swear undying love. After all, he'll marry Sara eventually. When he said 'I trust your word on this' to Sara, I wanted to laugh. We're back to him being stupid, I guess. They paint this as such an honorable trait, but it requires a certain degree of naivete to trust a person who admitted to helping Roberta. They are not doing a very good job at redeeming Leo.
I was a bit surprised Sebas didn't accept Gilberta's offer. I guess it's the opposite reaction to Leo's.
Salvador's mum is both a coward and una aprovechada. These two qualities don't go togther very well if you are in a position she is in, where Roberta holds all the cards. I was convinced she wouldn't get any money and that R would just kill her.
Roberta changed her attitude towards Leo when E is dead. She is going to use his situation for her own ends, not just tell him to marry Sara. I guess that makes sense as now she can't threaten him with anything.
I was confused by Addled's 'this time there will be no failures'. As this was said after he mentioned he'd prefer his nieto be an orphan, maybe he meant there was an attempt to kill Leo which failed. I can't remember if he knows about it.

ETERNAMENTE

waterlily, "Can Luis please stop calling Andrea? This is just absurd." It is. He asked for what he got by calling her. He sees to like to suffer. Only in the telenovela world. . . .

Darcy, thanks. "I hate to say it but my first thought when she told him she was pregnant was 'she shouldn't have told him!!!' It's sad that we live in a society where you instinctively know a pregnant woman with a new job should not disclose her pregnancy until she absolutely has to." You and me both. It mad me want to cringe because you knew she had node of what was coming. All I could do was feel sorry for her because she had no idea. At least she was plucky enough to not sign for that form and to do something about it. This was a great cross-cultural PSA.

Liz, thanks. : ) "t’s obvious Martina doesn’t have a lot of confidence in Fernando running the company but neither do I. He always acts like a spoiled brat who thinks he knows best." I agree with you and Martina on him. Too bad that Rogelio felt like he didn't have any there choice if he wanted to leave and wanted to keep peace if the family. "I’m anxious to see what Felipa has planned for the final step in getting Honorio and Micaela together." Me, too. I first thought was that this plot was stupid but now I find it charming. Go figure!

Diana, thanks. My head is growing daily. : ) "I’d mention Martina’s pretty blue blouse (that she’s worn before) but I’m disappointed in her so won’t!" Novela pay-back! I love it! "I can’t shake the feeling Rogelio is self-centered at times." You are also right on this one. He has been from the get go. He has just a touch or arrogance, too. That doesn't make him a bad guy but he has turned into a dark and brooding guy. That restaurant could lighten his mood, I bet. Good luck at the dentist!

Jarifa, Another home run from the couch. You hit it over the fence , amiga.

I am tired of Luis and Andrea. They both need to move on. Basta.

Liz, good point about Blanca's boss and being pregnant in the workplace . I was pregnant after teaching in a senior high for several years , and I didn't tell anyone at school I was pregnant except my two best friends until I had handed in my request for maternity leave. There was a lot of speculation, but I figured it was best to stay under the radar. I also agree that the women pursuing Gabriel At the home might make Martina go back to her home. Those women are embarrassing .

Beatriz gets worse and worse . I wonder if the writers have a little anvil dangling over her , or if just being her nasty self is punishment enough.

I think we are seeing Igy actually start to gain some self awareness .

Marco remains my favorite character. He has definitely made a hero's journey .

Episode 62: Part 1 of 3

Susi and Remedios talked about Grim. Susi was relieved but there still was Adriana. She had decided to go to live with her aunt in the capital. She thanked Remedios for her help and said she would see Cris next to thank him.

Trejo and Clemente went to La Esperanza to tell Maria Teresa that there was a traitor among her people. It had to be someone who knew what was going on at the ranch. She did not want to believe it buy they emphasized that this was also about Valentina.

Marco told the Jackal he was going to kill Santos.

Adriana was in Rut's office to find out how things were going with Rodrigo. He told her she was off his radar and possibly Marco could be a suspect.

Marco told the Jackal they were going to take Santos alive but eventually kill him. They were to proceed that night. He and his men were to see to it that Santos did not leave his house.

Clemente and Trejo began explaining that there was a traitor who made the bad things happen from the first attack. They had not realized this until now.

Marco accosted Camilo on the street. She asked what was bothering him and he said he had to go to the police station because the police wanted to implicate him in Grim's crimes. He would not tell her anything more.

Santos told Cris about Pepe and that he had gone off. They needed to find him and tell Maria Teresa. Santos was concerned about how much more she could take after all this.

Camila hid behind a pillar and eavesdropped on Marco and Jackal's plan to kidnap Santos. They got into the car and drove off without knowing they had been heard.

Maria Teresa told Nani what Clemente and Trejo told her. She could not understand what she had done to deserve this. Or her father. Nani said she had done nothing because she was a good person. But the evil ones will get their due.

Susi and Remedios talked about her business. She proposed the idea of herself selling Remedios' natural products in the capital. Camila arrived to warn Remedios about Marco's plan.

Maria Teresa and Nani continued to talk about this. Maria Teresa was believing the evidence that someone from around there killed Valentina. Villalobos called to tell Maria Teresa that she was needed at her father's company and they needed to meet the next day. The company was without a captain to command the ship.

Cris tried to persuade Santos to go to the saloon with him but Santos was not in the mood. He convinced Cris to go to the kitchen and after Genoveva so he doesn't lose his chances with her.

The Jackal got his gang ready. Remedios arrived and told Marco that Santos was not his enemy. He kept telling her to leave and she told him that it was Adriana with whom he shared a roof. He stopped and stared for a moment. He would not believe it. She told him she had been gathering herbs when she saw Adriana push his father. Adriana had threatened her life at the time. Finally she told him Adriana had been using him as she recruited deceived women into prostitution. All while living under his roof. He took a few moments to digest this.

Episode 62: Part 2 of 3

Adriana was ready to leave Rut's office. She went back to his idea of another house, one untainted by the present. He seemed to like this.

Marco did not think Adriana capable of this and he ordered Remedios to leave. When she would not he had the Jackal drag her away. She got free of him;. Marco then told him and the other men to leave. He completely lost his cool. He sat down on the step and took a few deep breaths.

Rut tried to stop Adriana from leaving then decide she was playing games.... like Norma. However, she kissed him before leaving. He looked a little suspicious.

Remedios went to Santos and told him what had just happened. Each was worried for the other.

Marco sat on his couch as Adriana and Irasema came in. Adriana greeted him and he exploded at her, calling her names, accusing her of prostitution and murder, and saying she would pay. He shouted at Irasema to leave and she backed out.

Trejo caught Rut just as he was leaving and questioned him about the “temporary” condition of his unemployment. Rut was playing for time, saying it was too soon. They had to put Grim away first. Trejo said he would be more help on the force than off. Rut said to let him think about it.

Marco backed Adriana against the wall – literally – and got murder-mystery creepy with insults and his motive for killing her. He turned her around quickly and began choking her from behind by pulling in his forearm. He released her when he determined she was dead and her body fell to the floor. He turned it face-up on its back.

Trejo told Rut he knew a lot of stuff and was on his side [WHAF?] and things would be more complicated if Rodrigo sent in another police chief. Rut said he would think about it.

Marco was having a cigarette and a drink while sitting on the couch.. He carefully poured a stream of his drink on Adriana's corpse, from the nether region leading right up to her breast implants. Finally he got up and started dragging her body out.

The next morning Maria Teresa seemed to have returned to the morning routine she missed because – thanks to Santos – she loved the lands.

Marco drove out to the same embankment where Adriana killed his father, smoking and drinking from a half-finished bottle of tequila. He dragged her body out to the edge and sent it rolling down to the same spot where his father's body had been found. [Did he ever think about the drag marks?]

Episode 62: Part 3 of 3

Bernarda and Regina walked around and Regina listened to the less hectic sounds. She loved birdsong. Bernarda told her that the ones on the ranch sang very beautifully. They went their separate ways on a relatively quiet street. Bernarda said she'd be waiting for her at the ranch.

Santos told Maria Teresa what Marco had planned and that he found out about it from Remedios, emphasizing that she had to believe his aunt. She was getting tired of not being able to trust anyone and now was without family. She told him about Clemente's investigation. Santos said that Marco had to have been behind the bad things because he wanted that property and when Maria Teresa asked how that was possible when Marco was in love with her Santos answered that people like him never truly love anyone.

Marco went home and poured himself a drink from a near-empty decanter. Irasema came in and asked if he knew where Adriana was. He said he did not. Irasema was concerned because she had heard them arguing. He said he threw her out and added “When you see her, tell her never to come back.”

Regina visited Clemente and he found out she could hear. Two te amos later they hugged.

Irasema went to Rut to tell him of her concerns. She was afraid because she had heard Adriana and Marco arguing. Rodrigo came in and Rut distracted both by saying that Irasema was a witness. She quickly said that Grim was a dangerous man and almost ran out. He and Rod went over to the desk.

Regina told Clemente how surprising sounds were, how much she loved voices, and that his was her favorite. They talked about Bernarda whom Regina said was still very sad. Clemente said he would keep his promise about finding Valentina's killer.

Maria Teresa and Nani talked about Santos' suspicions of Marco.. Maria Teresa went off to confront Marco. Nani tried calling her back.

Susi and Cris talked before she left for the capital. She told him to tell Genoveva about his feelings. He was nervous about doing so.

Santos went to the hacienda and Nani warned him of what Maria Teresa intended to do. He immediately set off in pursuit.

Maria Teresa got to La Soltera and she asked about the river. Marco was probably drunk, as he was embracing the bottle. He got nasty saying if she believes Santos she will get what's coming to her. He held the bottle as though he intended to hit her with it.

MINAS

Weirdo, another marvelous outing, replete with your signature wry wit. "That's my grave! I'm dead, I'm dead!" said it all, and very cleverly.

Thank you for "hasta en los perros hay razas" (there are races even in dogs)”; I always enjoy new vocabulary.

“We already have an almost-galán to deal with, we don't need there to be 2 in order for us to be more mad at Leo” was excellent and had me smiling away…Danilo and Sebas are racing neck and neck waiting to take the mantle from Leo. If only!! Like you waterlily, I couldn’t believe Leo didn’t ask Sara for a paternity test.

“Rob tells her that if she causes problems, she'll pay with her other kids' lives”. Roberta’s march to power continues unabated; she wields her evil as a sword; cruelty and cunning as her shield. She is managing to keep everyone in line by force and/or threat; by whatever means necessary. Leo continues to disappoint; his reluctance to see the truth, plain as day before him has stripped him of any right to be a galan here.

I am really looking forward to seeing the further adventures of the three musketeers, Emilia, Danilo and Aleida, a long journey surely before them.

“Still in love with Seb , defender of all women ....but Danilo is a strong contender now. Hopeless devotion is very attractive”. It is, isn’t it Susan?? Very well said!

Thank you Urban, your eagle eye captured everything as always!!!

Leave it to a novela heroine to run off ALONE to confront a suspected mass murderer!!! Geez, I know it's staple but this stupidity gets me every time. 'What? You're telling me you think he caused all my problems and murdered my father and sister?? I'm going to go give him a piece of my mind!!!' Sigh. MT might get lucky in that Marco didn't just look drunk, he looked about to collapse!

Adriana's anvil is in and her sentence is death...and thrown off the same cliff she pushed her husband off of! That works, honestly I'm surprised Marco let Irasema live, I think it's proof that he's losing it. He's acting out of emotion now and not calculation and it will be his downfall. I used to think he'd be the last villain to fall but now I think it will be Rut.

Speaking of, I think Trejo is playing Rut. He seemed genuinely all-in in the conversation with MT and Clemente and I don't think he's wicked enough to fake that....my guess is he was wired in that conversation with Rut. I'm also guessing Rodrigo is read in on this plan. 100% speculation but I think Trejo, Clemente and Rodrigo together are going to trap Rut.

Overprotective Bernarda is not only warming up to Clemente but leaving newly hearing Regina ALONE in town to visit him and saying 'see you at Esperanza' that seems like too much of a turn around!!! I can see her allowing Regina to visit Clemente alone but I'd figure her for waiting outside to return to the ranch with Regina rather than having Regina find her own way home.

I'd been convinced since the beginning that Camila's plan with Marco would produce a big goose egg but to my surprise it did manage to serve a purpose with her being able to warn Remedios of his plan against Santos.

TIERRA

Urban, there were a few kind acts among the brutality and murder which you captured marvelously well. I was lost in most of the conversations but you translated perfectly.

“Regina visited Clemente and he found out she could hear. Two te amos later they hugged was so sweet. Regina learning a new world of sound, bit by bit. Glorious revelations every day.

I don’t doubt for a minute Trejo is working to frame Rut. Rut is suspicious so he’d best be careful. I suspect Trejo will have a major part in bringing Rut down.

“Marco backed Adriana against the wall – literally – and got murder-mystery creepy with insults and his motive for killing her” was exactly right. I didn’t think he exuded enough force to kill her but obviously he did. Will Rut seek vengeance when Adriana’s corpse is found or will he seek to blame Marco for murdering Valentina AND Adriana?

Irasema is bereft of common sense. Confronting Marco rather than running away? Still, I’m glad she showed up at Rut’s to give her statement.

I’m seeing more of the strange, maniacal glint in Marco’s eyes every day. Maria Teresa is recoiling and it’s time for Santos to set the trap and reel him in.

Diana

Tierra

Thanks Urban, one down, two to go. Or three if we count the Jackal. .

I didn’t realize Pepe had run away. I don’t blame him. I’m pretty sure he was there when the Jackal shot one of the men in the head. He’s a real cold blooded killer.

I’m not sure if I liked Adriana’s quick death. She needed to suffer more. I thought of the drag marks too. But with a choking it will never look like an accident. I wonder if they can trace the tire tracks.

I think Trejo knows exactly what Rut is and is trying to get back his job to officially bring him down. I’m now pretty sure he was the one that murdered Estaban.

MT is kind of naive. She really believes Marco loves her just because he said it to her. But she doesn’t remember he was ready to buy her ranch when she talked about moving back to the city. Not trying to get her to stay.
I’m glad I had an older brother to tell me guys would say that to get what they wanted!

Who do we lose tonight? Can’t wait to see!

Liz

Tierra #62

I watched this a second time for needed clarification and I agree that Trejo is playing Rut. He knows that Rut is in deep shit with the governor and although he hasn't said so I think he suspects Rut of Esteban's murder.

Regina has gone into town alone before; she's 22 and very observant. I'm also sure most of the people there recognize her and don't want to mess with her out of fear of the local lioness charging out to protect her cub.

Fantastic job, Jarifa.

I'll say one good thing about Imelda. She put JJ down with no ifs or buts. Had she been demure, JJ probably would've been stupid enough to unite with Beatriz.

I'm so glad Blanca and Marco's baby storyline is about job discrimination and we're not wasting the last days of the TN on the couple warming up to having a baby, which would've been boring. I haven't seen pregnancy discrimination in a TN. I enjoyed Blanca standing up.

We've seen Fernando be rash too much to have 100% confidence he can run the biz well, BUT Martina showing her displeasure at Rogelio's decision -- in front of Fernando and everyone -- wasn't motherly at all. Fernando's feelings didn't even figure in her consideration.

Gabriel is more than a galan. Waterlily, ITA that Gabriel is a saint. He has stars in his eyes when it comes to the very flawed Martina.

In support of the ladies who are chasing Gabriel, he is a class act and they want to hit while they can still remember it. ;>

eternamente
Niecie, 'they want to hit while they still can remember'...The best joke I've seen in a while. Brilliant! And you hit the nail on the head with your assessment of Martina's reaction to Rogelio's decision. She really had no consideration for his feelings. I think this is what pissed me off more than once. It's almost like she is in a role of a victim if one of her kids displeases her, but she is free to say whatever. After all, she told them recently she is glad she won't remember how horrible they are being when they didn't take her wishes into consideration when talking about her illness. Then in another episode she talked about oh so many sacrifices she has made as if her kids had asked her to make them. Gabriel can't stay in the rest home, but she can give free reign to her jealousy. I was even considering asking if anyone knows whether she has any narcisistic traits because this disregard for other people's agency and a demand she be given agency just drive me up the wall. She feels almost too flawed for me to ever like her.
At one point I was wondering if even her charity work isn't just something she does because that's expected and not because she likesit/thinks there are people who need help. It's entirely possible she does it for the right reasons, but I've noticed that her character lends itself to very unfavourable interpretations whenever i think about something she does.

Eternamente #109

Gracias, as we slide into some otherwise mundane things.

Waterlily, Martina is a narcissist. As a daughter of one I can tell you that they do get worse with age. A friend of mine had a narcissistic father who got worse and more difficult as his dementia increased. The problem with such people is that only their feelings count and other people only exist to serve their needs. That is even truer with regard to a favorite child. She runs a foundation because as the wealthiest woman in her circle this was expected of her and she was praised for this. It's good to help the poor... from a distance.

Good for Blanca for fighting HR and that rotten boss of hers. I have seen pregnant women lose their office jobs and teachers sent on maternity leave just as they start to show. The world should be long past that by now.

Eternamente

Urban, as the first person to be pregnant in that senior high in years, I tried to keep that secret as long as I could by just wearing clothes a size larger than normal, but I am a small person . The male teachers noticed changes and were very curious and asking my friends who played dumb. They were more curious than the students. They made me feel self conscious and annoyed. If the women teachers were also curious and suspicious , I never knew because none of them ever confronted me .

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #110

Notes from the couch . . .

Page 1

1. Norma comes back with a glass of water and Paula explains that she was suddenly remembering being at her house as a child and lookng at that painting but not doing very well. Norma explains that Paula spent a lot of time with her and she really missed her parents. She asks why Paula came to see her. Paula says she is having memories from the past that make her feel empty and she needs explanations. Norma is pleased that she came. They have a lot to talk about.

2. Rogelio tells Pedro that he doesn't know how much he would have liked to have bought his restaurant. Pedro asks why didn't he mention that before. Pedro checks that he is serious and says he thinks that he can make it happen for him. Rogelio says if some obstruction in his present deal arises to let him know.

3. Norma gets out a photo album and they start looking at photos of Paula. Paula finds out that she would often sleep at Norma's. Paula asks why was she there so much. Norma tells her that when she is sad now, she puts on the same face she did when she was sad as a kid. Norma gives her time alone with the photo album.

4. Marco is thinking ahead and brings boxes and boxes of diapers home. Blanca hadn't thought of that and thinks that must mean she will be a terrible mother. Marco admits that he doesn't know what he is doing either. All he knows is they will have their baby and give it the same love they have for each other. Since he knows that she is terrorized by the idea of being a mother, he has brought her a gift. It is a heart shaped locket on a necklace. It says "I love you, mamá". Marco says it is her first gift from their child. She smiles and he puts it on her.

5. Norma emerges with a box that she says belonged to Paula's mother. There are some mementos inside. She kept it after her parents died. She is happy to be able to give it to her now. It is her inheritance. Paula opens the box and finds a doll of hers and her mother's diary. Norma hopes she will find what she is looking for there. Paula suddenly calls Norma "Noni". Norma is excited that Paula remembers what she used to call her. Norma thought she would never see her again, but life ended up giving her that opportunity. Paula thanks Norma. She now has so much hope for what Norma has given her. Norma tells her to call her "tú". That goes better with Noni than Ud.

6. Cass and Ignacio are online and are finding out how hard it is to adopt a baby. Ignacio agrees but they are not the kind people that would give up so easily. He will not rest until their child is with them. Cass says this is the best decision she has made in herlife. Ignacio says it is very important for him, too. They agree that they will start at the orphanage tomorrow because if things are this complicated they have to get going.

7. Norma reads her mother's diary as she leaves Norma's. Her mother talks about the joys of being married to the man she loves and starting a new life. It will be just the two of them. That makes Paula smile.

10. Blanca is busy making a list of everything they are going to need for the baby. Marco mentions breast feeding and she gets nervous not having really thought about it yet. She decides to put the list away for a while. He tells her about his brothers moving his project along to the next stage. She is happy for him and she believes in him. He also believes in her.

11. Denís has started talking to Gabriela about Martina. She thinks that Martina won't come to eat because she is in such a bad mood. She asks Gabriel if they can eat together. Gabriel says as a matter of fact Martina will becoming to eat. As Martina stands half-hidden behind a wall in the background observing , Denís offers to wait with him. He tells her no. Tonight and every night he wants to eat in peace with his Monarca so he will not be eating with her. He thanks her for all of her attention. She decides to sit at a table nearby in case he needs anything. Gabriel sits at a table alone as a perturbed Martina looks on.

12. Eva tells Fidel how Paula went tn Mexico City and hasn't called her. Paula has beens strange and went to see the woman who used to take care of her as a child. Fidel says that is okay. Eva doesn't know. She doesn't want to get into those horrific memories.
Fidel tells her that everyone has as personal life that they have to face sometime. He explains he had to accept that he knows nothing about his past except that Father Cuco and Martina saved him and here he is. Eva loves him. He is the best man in the world.

13. As Martina is annoyed and staring at Denís, Gabriel tells her if they are going to be there they need to find a way to accomplish the things on their list. She agrees. He starts teasing her by asking her what she is thinking about. She giggles. Denís comes lumbering over saying she is dizzy and spills whatever was on her plate on Martina's pants. 15. Martina has had enough of the dining room with Denís and retreats to her room. Gabriel suggests that he spend the night in her room and stretches out on her bed. Martina's eyes get big and she says they cannot break the rules and the bed isn't big enough for two. Gabriel reminds her rules are there to be broken. She is thinking of more daring things. They will not be sleeping together until they are married. He agrees and teases her by saying he will be going with Denís. He makes sure Martina knows that he is joking. Martina isn't laughing.

16. Ricardo asks Cecilia to be his novia. She says yes with a kiss.

17. Rogelio is on his phone looking at photos of the restaurant. Pedro texts him that the sale is moving ahead but there is something personal he would like to talk to Rogelio about tomorrow morning as early as he can get there. Rogelio sighs.

18. Paula comes in with the box. Rogelio says he would have liked to have gone to Mexico City with her. Why didn't she include him in her plans? She thought he had a lot of things to do on his own. He should have asked her. He apologizes and asks about her trip. Paula describes how while sitting there where she spent so many hours as child, she experienced a huge emptiness inside . She shows him the box from her mother and her mother's diary. Rogelio asks if she is sure she wants to read the diary. It was something personal that her mother wrote for herself.. Paula says what she has read has made her feel closer to her parents . Rogelio advises her to be as objective as she can while reading it.

19. Gabriel is alone in his room remembering that Martina told him they were not going to sleep together until they were married. He smiles. Martina is awake in her bed thinking about the Denis mishap and now getting a good laugh out of it.

20. Paula comes to bed and finds Rogelio fast asleep. She picks up the diary to read. She reads how hopeful her mother was on the eve of them opening their restaurant. She remembers her parents talking about the restaurant. Her mother said they had to close it. They didn't have enough money to last one more week. Her father said they could just ask for another loan. Her mother didn't agree and her father wasn't going to give up yet. Her father told her mother to calm down. Her mother was so upset she had to leave the room.

21. Paula gets up and ends up in the living room. Luis is there , too. He couldn't sleep either. She asks how Andrea is. Luis tells her that she is engaged to MARCELO (I have been calling him Carmelo and I don't know why LOL) She invited him to a shindig in Mexico City and he doesn't know if he should go. Paul thinks he should go and tell her the truth about how he feels. He is afraid she will reject him. Paula has to go to Mexico City, too, and offers to go with him for emotional support. He thanks her for always being there for him.

22. The next morning, Gabriel goes to see Martina. She answers the door asking what can she do for him. He says he came by to give her this flower. He asks if she likes it or should he take it. She likes it and takes it but then returns it. She doesn't want her husband Hipólito to know she is taking flowers from men at the door. She's asking him to respect her and closes the door in his face. He is suddenly deflated. He sees a nurse and says they are going to have to be very careful with Martina because she doesn't recognize him. The nurse tells him not to worry because they know what to do. He thanks her and gives her the rose.

23. Paula wakes up in a funk. Rogelio is gone. He has left a note telling her he had to leave early because Pedro needed him. He will see her later. Cecilia calls and Paula says she won't be at the school today. She doesn't feel well. Cecilia says no excuses if she isn't in the hospital. Cecilia says she has something important to tell her but it has to be in person. If she doesn't come, she will be the last to know.

24. Honorio offers to take Micaela to see Martina. She turns him down. She has some personal things to discuss with her so she will go on her own.

25. Pedro tells Rogelio that before he became passionate about cooking, he wanted to be an actor. He would have been a "natural"! They both laugh. Pedro reminds Rogelio that he said he was going to sell the restaurant, well, the deal fell through. He hands Rogelio the keys. The restaurant is all his and there is nobody better to leave it to. Rogelio gets up and kisses and hugs him. Rogelio thanks him and tells him it is in good hands. It will always be his home.

26. Fernando and Imelda have breakfast together. He likes being with her. She smiles. He tells her that he was always happy to wake up at her side. He apologizes for anything he said to her. She says what matters is what they do from her and now and to recognize their mistakes.. She tells him she owes him an apology. JJ told her that the felt something for her and he kissed her before she knew it. Fernando starts to get mad. She admits she was wrong and that made her wonder how many other times has she been wrong. Fernando says that he has felt overwhelmed and confused. He knows he has a lot of things he has to work on in himself and he is going to do it for them. She wants things to stay the same for right now. She needs to focus on herself and her children. She has a lot to work on in herself and she asks that he do the same. They need to get along for the kids' sake. Fernando is hopeful that maybe later they will be back together. She says maybe.

27. Cecilia tells Paula that she and Ricardo are novios. She is sort of nervous about how ignacio might react. Paula reminds her she doesn't have to give him any explanations other than the that fact that Ricardo is going to be with his son.

28. At the orphanage, Cass and Ignacio find about what a long and hard road they have ahead in order to adopt a child. Ignacio is confident that it will all work out. Cecilia calls Ignacio to pick up Camilo later.

29. Rogelio is packing up his belongings at the company. Fernando angrily tells him about what JJ did. He wants JJ out NOW. Rogelio reminds him that he is in a different position now and he cannot allow himself to be ruled by his emotions. Rogelio insists that he will take care of it. He calms Fernando down and hugs him.

30. Rogelio heads to JJ'soffice and Ignacio follows him. Rogelio tells JJ that he treated him like a brother. He defended him and took his word over Fernando his brother's. He supported him and how did he pay him back? He tried to romance his sister-in-law. JJ denies it. Rogelio says the least he can do is quit. Ignacio says he is so cynical. JJ tells him to look in a mirror. iganci goes after JJ. Rogelio breaks them apart. Fernando comes in and tells JJ he is going to resign by his own free will. Fernando warns him if he sees him near Imelda in Morelia, he will not act as prudently as he is now. JJ leaves. Marco comes in asking what happened.

31. Paula tells Cecilia that sometimes she does what she is remembering. It as if she is watching a movie and it isn't really her. She feels afraid and empty. She had a good visit with Norma. She gave her a box with mementos from her mother. Paula smiles as she talks about reading her mother's diary and finding out about how much she loved her father and their wedding. Cecilia thinks that is incredible and a great gift. Paula agrees but says she misses them more than ever.

32. Marco gives a presentation about the next step in his his project to Fernando, Fidel and Ignacio. Rogelio stays to see it, too. They all enjoy it and tell him what a good job he did.

33ks what is going on. Micaela admits she is a bit confused because a while ago, she started receiving these love poems. She doesn't know who they are from. Martina wonders if they could be from Honorio. Micaela can't see him having poetry like that in his head. . They both laugh. At the same time, Martina is watching Denís who is watching Gabriel playing chess with another resident.

34. Ignacio comes rushing in late to pick up Camilo. Ceciiia says no problem. She and Ricardo want to talk to Regina since they are now novios. They go to get the baby.

35. Paula continues reading her mother's diary. Her mother writes it is the worst time to be pregnant with the restaurant being like it is. She doesn't want the baby but it is too late to be able to get an abortion. Paula cries.

36. What in the heck was that at the end with Paula floating through space?

That is it for me. Feel free to add antyihg I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

For me, this was easy watching tonight. Nothing aggravated me and JJ got his anvil. So, it looks like Rogelio will be a restaurateur. I guess that Martina vs. Denís were the comic relief which was fine by me. As for Paula reading the diary, Rogelio was right on that one. I would have given her the same advice. Things were just rolling along BUT there are TEN episodes left which means there is plenty of time for MAYHEM!! I look forward to seeing your opinions on this episode. It is supper time for me.

Eternamente

Jarifa, I am glad it was an easy watch for you because I was so distracted trying to multitask that I needed your wonderful couch cap to tell me what I watched! Or sort of watched... I am a bad multi-tasker.

I am not a fan of this Paula memory storyline. I suppose they needed a way to introduce the Paula background but the idea of someone repressing memories for what 30ish years and then suddenly starting to have dream memories for no apparent reason is a little too far out there for me. Now, if Paula had run into Norma on a street somewhere by chance and seeing her suddenly brought a rush of memories, that I could have bought. But instead, the memories came in dreams and Norma had to be sought out by internet and she just happens to have a box of memories right over here for Paula to take! Where did I put my beanie? I wonder if she ever read that diary? (She being Norma)

It would be difficult to read what her mom wrote about not wanting the baby, but really that sentiment has nothing to do with Paula and everything to do with an overstressed wife with a struggling restaurant and too much on her plate. I doubt Paula will see it that way though, sigh. What this show really needed was more heartbreak and sorrow, don'tcha think?

I had to laugh when I read that Blanca thought she was going to be a bad mother because she hadn't thought to buy boxes and boxes of diapers! I mean who doesn't think of buying boxes and boxes of diapers for a baby before mama is even far enough along to be showing?? Oh everyone? That's right, it is all mothers, everywhere! Don't worry Blanca, you'll be fine.

eternamente
I loved Fernando telling Rogelio 'what if this was Paula we were talking about'. Rogelio only then said 'oh you are right'. It's like he needs to be told to imagine himself in a similar position to really get another person. Before it was 'oh calm down'.
Imelda only apologised forthe situation with JJ. And she 'is wondering' what other mistakes she has made. If she needs to wonder, she hasn't got very good introspection skills. What about being awful to Fernando at the start? Or has she forgotten that? It felt somehow that they portrayed Fernando as being more at fault. But maybe Imelda will have to make a confession about what an ass she has been.
It's tragic Ceci has to worry about what Ignacio would say. I'm not surprised, though. I wouldn't trust a man who has a tendency to lash out at the slightest provocation.
I have to admit I find it hard to imagine him and Casandra as parents. I was hoping Casandra would be the one not to have kids. But not in this crazzy telenovela.
Did Rogelio really feel excluded or did he mean to take revenge with that 'why didn't you tell me' question? Wasn't he busy when Paula was in Mexico? She told him she was going and told him he could have asked her if he could come along. If that's the case, why 'feel excluded'?
That scene with Micaela and Martina felt so very strange to me because it's nice, but it hasn't happened before so I was like 'is this really happening?' Lack of such scenes made Martina hard to like because I do need proof she is a bit more human. But if she is a narcisist, I'm now not surprised she is the way she is. I feel very sorry for Gabriel, though. It seems there will be more bad days than good ones at this point and he really doesn't deserve to go through hell like this. If Martina was at least tolerable in her 'good moments', it would be easier. But her jealousy takes away the good moments they have left. Doesn't she realise she is wasting the time she has left with her stupid outbursts? She seemed miserable at the beginning of the novela, nowshe makes herslef miserable when she has something very few people do: a man willing to stay with her through this illness. Stupid woman.

I'm working on my recap for #42. Expect it later today :)

"MINAS" EPISODE#42:

Weirdo: Looking forward to seeing your full-scale recap of last night's episode.

Steve Boudreaux

"TIERRA" EPISODE #63:

My personal thoughts on last night's episode.
1.) Creepy Marco tells Irasema to get out of his house ASAP.

2.) Rutillo blows off Irasema when she tries to explain that Creepy Marco had done something to Adriana.

3.) Crying like a baby & carrying her belongings with her, Irasema tried speaking with Norma, who also blows her off.

4.) Over at the pub, Trejo is notified by one of the police officers that they found a dead woman's body & he needed to get over to HQ ASAP.

5.) Maria Teresa holds a meeting with the company shareholders, etc.,

6.) Santos gets upset when Maria Teresa tells him she's moving back to Mexico City.

7.) After constant arguing & nagging, Santos & Maria Teresa make love.

8.) Rutillo finds out about a dead woman's body being found & snaps at the police officers just standing there.

9.) Trejo escorts Rutillo to the morgue, where Trejo unveils the white sheet, showing Adriana's dead body.

10.) Rutillo appears upset that his Booty Call is dead. At least Adriana looked intact & the marks on her neck are quite obvious.

11.) Bernarda & Regina get emotional seeing Valentina's ghost.

12.) Countdown to the downfall of Rutillo & Creepy Marco begins.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, thank you for your always exceptional details; you convey not only the events but the emotional components of these episodes beautifully.

I had this on but was feeling quite ill and slept through most of it so there is little I can add.

I did see Marco give Blanca the necklace which was quite lovely. I am so enjoying their love story. I also saw Pedro giving Rogelio the restaurant keys and am happy for him.

While my heart goes out to any child reading what Paula did, I agree with you Darcy in that it was the words of a distraught, heartbroken young wife trying to cope with her life imploding her. I don’t think Norma read the book; I don’t think she would have given it to Paula if she had.

Cecilia seems on her way to new love and Cass and Ignacio on their way to parenthood. Slowly but surely, new adventures are looming.

It appears Martina’s condition continues on a downward spiral; I hope she and Gabriel get married sooner rather than later.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 42, Viernes, 27 de Octubre, 2023

Adiós everybody... (Except from you, stupid Leo) - Part 1/3

Tigre freaks out when he learns Roberta is now a business partner; Roberta says the law protects her. Tigre screams that Rob only wants to hurt them. Roberta can't be somewhere for a minute without trying to manipulate someone. She claims she just wants to protect Nico's rights; if she wanted to hurt them, she'd close the mine. But she's "generous" (LOL). Seb says he doesn't believe her and after Tigre freaks out some more, Rob says she'll leave, but she'll close the mine. (So... She now wants to hurt them, according to her?) Leo tells her to calm down and to come to his office.

Emi is crying and saying she doesn't have anyone, not even her family. Aleida says she will always have them in her heart. She has an ambition! Emi says she can't do this anymore.

Tigre and Seb talk about La Patrona. Tigre says she's the devil and something about challenging the will-the document that let Rob be a business partner? Seb says there has to be a way to make her fall, they have to be smarter than her. Tigre tells him they need something concrete I think. Seb says the famous "have your friends close and your enemies closer" as Tigre whines about having to see Rob every day.

Leo asks his mom what else does she wants from them. Rob, somehow, manages to shift the conversation to the fire in the mental hospital and how it was caused by Emi. At the very least Leo says this is a lie and says she always rejected him as a son; Roberta has the nerve to say he wasn't the most sweet son and still badmouths Emilia! Leo screams "let her rest, for God's sake!" He adds that he thinks she's a cold, ambitious woman (really? I didn't even think of that! It's SO hard to realise!) Rob says she's not the monster he thinks she is. Well, she's right; she's worse. Leo talks about Ignacio and how she cheated on him with Fidel. Roberta "defends herself" saying their relationship was bad and tells him he's not so innocent; Addled told her about Sara's pregnancy; he must have cheated on Emilia. She asks him "Are you going to be only unfaithful or will you also abandon your child and his mother?" Leo looks hurt.

Sara doesn't want to eat anything. Gigí is worried but very happy when she learns Sara is pregnant. She asks her who's the father, Sara doesn't respond explicitly but says she quit from Leo's company and will return to Mexico City, so it's obvious. She adds it happened when Leo and Emi were separated for some time. She's two months pregnant (remember that).

Danilo sees someone coming (there's still at the cemetery). They hide as Nicolás comes with Joaquina. Nic leaves his mother's favourite flowers on her grave and something that looks like a toy. Emi wants to go to Nico but Aleida and Dan stop her. "If you die, you'll never see him again", Al tells her. Al says she understands though and they at least let Emi see him from afar. Nico does a solo version of their a-mo a-mas game. Jo tells him they have to leave before Roberta finds out. Emi cries.

Leo finds excuses for Rob. She says he doesn't need to make up excuses and asks him if he regrets it. (Okay...) What pisses me off the most is that Leo DOESN'T ACTUALLY REPLY. I had to take a deep breath here, otherwise I'd throw something at the wall next to me. The whole scene from this point on was Rob trying to manipulate Leo to forgive her and Leo being indecisive. Rob cries, but smiles when she hugs him. What a snake.

After Nico and Jo have left, Emi and the gang go closer to the grave. Nico has also left a letter for Emi. She takes the flowers, the toy and the letter and they leave.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 42, Viernes, 27 de Octubre, 2023

Adiós everybody... (Except from you, stupid Leo) - Part 2/3

Gael gets a text message from Mar. She says she's on her way to Ireland, she'll miss him a lot and promises she'll return one day. Gael tells his parents and adds that that Patrona woman always wins. Tigre freaks out even more after this.

Emi reads Nico's letter. It's cute, I have to write it here word by word: "Mom, I hope you're happy in the sky. I miss you a lot but I don't want to cry so you don't get sad. Joaquina says that one day I will smile and be happy again. Don't worry about me. I'll be fine and I'll always think about you. I leave you this ___ (name of toy, was that a truck?) to play in the sky and to never forget about me." Awwww.

Maybe some time has passed?

Orlando is whining to Jenny because she doesn't want to make their relationship of 2 months public. He says she either does that or it's over.

Gigí is crying because Sara is leaving. Leo comes and says he wants to talk. Gigí grabs Teresa (the maid) and leaves them alone. Leo says he wants to give his son a family.

Jen gets angry and says he can't say things like this (she has a point here) since when did he become a chauvinist? She says Roberta finding out is too dangerous and when Orlando insists ends the relationship.

Sara says she doesn't want to have an "alternative" family where the parents aren't living together. Okay...

Nico's school day is over; Jo is late to pick him up. Emi waves at him and throws him a paper airplane. He throws it back to her. This keeps on going for some time until Jo comes. Emi hides quickly. Nico tells Jo about the woman he played with but she's nowhere to be found. Jo goes to buy Nico some lemon ice cream (great, now I'm hungry). Emi whispers she hopes nothing changes him and then says "adiós".

Roberta and Fidel kiss and Rob says that everything is better here without her step-daughter. She shares some news; stupid Leo got Sara pregnant. "Cheers" they both say. I don't know if I should laugh with or be disgusted by these two.

Dan freaks out when he learns Emi escaped again. "She's crazy", he says. Aleida says she understands her; she has to die completely in order to be reborn.

Leo, after some back and forth, asks Sara to marry him. She doesn't look that happy.

Míriam and Addled have yet another of their boring fights.

Roberta says everything is going perfect. That's what everyone says before it all falls down.

Sara says she doesn't want to marry someone who doesn't love her and that it's better to leave things. Leo says he'll comes with her when he learns she's off to do an ultrasound and she lets him. Nice way to "leave things" for sure.

Emi has arrived outside of Tigre and Zaira's. They're trying to stay strong and to continue their lives without Emi and Nico. Emi, after they have left, whispers "adiós" to them and to Gael.

Nico says he was playing with a woman that looked like she lived in the streets. He wants to find her and help her. They play with the paper airplane from before and Jo notices that something is written on it. It says: "The people we love live in our heart and your mom will always carry you in hers. Always together." Nico remembers his mom and him throwing paper airplanes together.

Sara does the ultrasound with Leo by her side.

Emi, meanwhile, is outside of Seb's house. Míriam arrives and whines about Addled. She says she doesn't want to involve him (which is what she has been doing for the past months), but Seb tells her to go inside to sit. Emi whispers "adiós" to him as well and talks about his big heart.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 42, Viernes, 27 de Octubre, 2023

Adiós everybody... (Except from you, stupid Leo) - Part 3/3

We learn Dan's tragic backstory; his parents were alcoholics and he basically raised himself up. That's why he followed them; it's the first time he has had a family. Aleida says he's very important for them.

Emi says her last "adiós", to her town, San Lorenzo.

Zaira tells Gigí that Emi was innocent. I didn't completely understand their conversation, but they talked about justice and female empowerment. Gigí said she'll think about it. Zaira gives her some sort of red stone? Gigí asks her "how much is it", in English and then repeats it in Spanish. Zaira says it's free. After Zaira leaves, Addled enters the house and hugs Gigí from behind. He says it's his house and she's his wife and kisses her aggressively. Please, Gigí, don't fall for it... If she does, I'll start calling her Berta again...

Emi has planned another "adiós" to say, one she never manages to: to Leo. And that's because Leo is walking with Sara and they're both very happy. They talk about Sara's pregnancy and Emi freezes. Sara tells Leo she's 10 weeks pregnant, which is a lie, since she told her mom she's 2 months. Emi's heart breaks completely when they KISS!

And on that annoying note, we have the Fin del Capítulo...

Tierra

Just to gave a heads' up, I will need to watch this episode again to catch some dialogue. Look for the recap around dinner time.

Daisy and I will share the finale on Monday. I will do the last hour of the series so look for the recaps on Tuesday.

Minas
I rarely get upset by tragic scenes in telenovelas, but all those scenes with Emilia and Nico were so sad to watch. If there's one thing I like about this show, it's their relationship. Oh and Sebas and his relationship with Emilia. The rest...well...
Did Roberta really ask Leo if he regrets it? I can't believe I missed that bit. He will fall for her manipulation soon I'm sure. On the one hand, she is his mother and he still seems desperate for her to love him. On the other, there comes a point where you just have to accept she doesn't love anyone really. Roberta actually said she sent E to that hospital because this way her sentence would be reduced and there was then a hope she and Leo would be together one day. That was just soo... I don't remember what Leo responded to this. But it was such a crazy thing to say, given that she also said E ruined Leo and therfore Roberta couldn't love him or something similar. The crazy stuff she says is so damn hard to remember.
Sara could rival Roberta's manipulations. That was masterful but just because Leo is a fool. He is happy and it doesn't matter she gave him an ultimatum. But why then she didn't look happy when he proposed? Did she expect a rin? Surely she knows he doesn't love her and Obligation is his motivation. But then again, she was upset Leo was ignoring her after E died so she has no understanding of other people's emotions. I was waiting for her to start stomping her feet like a little child.
Tiger's dialogue with Seb was hard to understand. One thing that amused me was Seb saying there had to be a way to get rid of Roberta. Tiger responded 'only by throwing her off ofthe highest rock in the town'. He isn't wrong.
Miriam blames Addled for deceiving her again. How is her stupidity and her crazy expectations his fault? Do those writers really hate Seb so much as to make him stay with her? He needs someone with brains and conscience, not una ingrata y aprovechada.
So is Emi leaving? I wonder what she is going to do while she is in the process of turning into a phoenix.
But why oh why did they include a stupid galan in this one? There's Seb, defending GiGi and helping Miriam. And there's Leo, whodoesn't ask for a paternity test and just agrees to marry Sara because that's what you do when a woman gives you an ultimatum. Surely the writers must realise how unatractive a weak and naive man is. But maybe they don't care? Why waste time and money on something like this then?

Minas

Weirdo, thank you so much for that excellent recap of every agonizing moment .

I cannot stand to look at Sara's lying face . ugh

Leo looks as knocked down as someone looks when they lose a loved one, first his adopted dad and now his soulmate ( he believes).

Will Nick and Jo notice that the things that they left on Em's grave are gone ?

Em and Nick flying the paper airplane back and forth was a nice touch. Of course the wicked witch disapproved of No and Nick playing with the paper plane.

Poor Em , the two guys who were head over heels for her seem to have quickly moved on to other women. When Em was watching and listening to Sara and Leo, Sara was the one who grabbed Leo and planted a kiss on him , and Leo did that frozen galan move of just letting it happen.

Em doesn't realize that Seb is now " Friend to all women" including despicable Miriam , who let Gigi take her into her home and then turned around and let Addled climb into her bed. However, now she seems to be back in her little single girl cabin and buzzing and sniffling around heart of gold Seb . ugh

At this point, I want Em to end up with Dan. i am glad that the writers gave us his backstory . I love the interaction between sweet Aleida and Dan . Aleida seems to have become Dan's mother figure now , and he is her son substitute. I like the three amigos forming a little family to comfort and help each other . I need their sweet caring to balance Coldhearted Robot Rob. I can barely watch her with Fidel joyfully celebrating all the pain , heartache, and death that they are responsible for.

I remember watching Karyme Lozana years ago in telenovelas. Love her sweet presence in this show.

I am convinced that Jo is Rob's sister since Rob is a ways reminding her that she is " just a servant."

Minas

Waterlily, I agree with all your comments, as always.

Right, I had written Roberta saying she locked Emi up down but didn't see it because I was in a hurry. When Roberta said that, Leo looked shocked and said "you admit it then?" Roberta then said she did it to shorten her sentence.

"I rarely get upset by tragic scenes in telenovelas, but all those scenes with Emilia and Nico were so sad to watch." I felt the same! These scenes with mothers and their children getting separated make me very sad.

"There's Seb, defending GiGi and helping Miriam. And there's Leo, who doesn't ask for a paternity test and just agrees to marry Sara because that's what you do when a woman gives you an ultimatum." Seb is the real galán here...

Eternamente

Fine job, Jarifa.

Can you fire someone for making a pass at your spouse? I don't remember that being verboten in any employee manual I've had. JJ did a dumb thing, but it's a shame since he came to Rogelio's rescue when the Iturbides were hard-up.

Paula should remember how all her memories of her parents are loving ones. Like most folks pregnant unexpectedly (probably half the parents of the world), Paula's mom went through a period of adjustment.

Paula is going to travel to Mexico City with Luis? I'm not sure his crush on her is over, plus he annoys me because he's never changed that sweater sleeves thrown over shoulder look. Andrea can do better.

Imelda says she need time to think about herself and her children.
She's always thought about herself nonstop, so the breakthrough must be her thinking about what's best for the kids, rather than leveraging them like her mom leveraged her.

Minas

Susan, thanks for your comment.

"Will Nick and Jo notice that the things that they left on Em's grave are gone ?" I also wonder about that!

"At this point, I want Em to end up with Dan." Interesting! I want her to end up with Seb. No one wants her to end up with Leo though...

Minas

I am afraid that Em will end up with Leo. Awful Sara will end up with her baby's daddy dear Dan , and the writers will redeem terrible Miriam somehow and have her end up with golden hearted Seb. I won't like it , but just like " Invencible" , they do whatever they want to do.

Eternamente

Niecie, ‘Can you fire someone for making a pass at your spouse? ’ probably not but they can probably strongly encourage someone to quit after making unwanted sexual advances including a kiss to an employee! Imelda works there and is a subordinate. It’s sexual harassment!

Eternamente

Darcy, I can't believe I'd forgotten all about the sexual harassment of it! I plead temporary TN fog. Imelda quit to be free of JJ, but I hope she takes her job back.

MINAS

Weirdo, a wondrous recap from start to finish. I understand relatively little so your pitch perfect dialog translations are truly a blessing.

I was sick last night (still am) but life doesn’t stop and I had a lot to take care of today. The only scene I managed to rouse myself and watch last night was with Aleida and Danilo, which was so sweet. I am so grateful for all the (mostly sad) details you outlined so perfectly.

"The people we love live in our heart and your mom will always carry you in hers. Always together" was lovely.

Also, “Aleida says she understands her; she has to die completely in order to be reborn” rang so true as the abuse Aleida has suffered is incalculable and unfathomable.

I imagine that every child has an innate love for their parents. They always want to believe in them and trust them implicitly. But Leo left childhood long ago. Nothing about Roberta is the least bit murky; she is evil incarnate, her stench of evil is pervasive. He has chosen her above reason and truth. Any sympathy I had for him has evaporated.

As Emilia is finally done with her tragic farewell tour, I look forward to seeing where she and her new, dear friends are off to and what their grand plan is.

Diana

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa, I enjoyed your recap. Nothing “ edge of your seat” is happening, which makes a pleasant evening for me!

JJ retreated when Imelda told him no, and he refused Beatrice’s suggestions, Imelda was obviously not a fan of her husband. He waited until they were separated and then made his move. After the kiss he apologized. I know it’s sexual harassment but I think he truly believed Imelda liked him. Thinking of their long friendship, (he and Rogelio) I feel he deserves a second chance. Fernando continues to be hotheaded and is probably better off just working with his brothers. But he really needs to grow up.

I have no experience with Alzheimer’s’ but am really surprised at how fast it is progressing. I thought it would first be forgetting names and places. And maybe having some confusion. She forgets important people in her life. They need to marry soon and have some happiness.

Paula wanted to learn about her past and she’ll learn the good and the bad.

I hope Cecilia really likes Ricardo and is not trying to like him because Ignacio has someone.

I hope Ignacio and Cass can adopt the little girl. I can’t picture them with an infant.

Loved Marco buying all those diapers. I bet he doesn’t know they come in sizes!

Tierra de Esperanza 10/27/23
Episode 63: Part 1 of 3

Maria Teresa tried to leave and Marco forced a kiss on her just as Santos arrived. He slugged Marco for his efforts, knocking him off his feet.

Through happy tears Clemente told Norma Regina could hear and was getting language therapy to learn how to talk. Norma was thrilled to hear this. He told her that Bernarda will get better when he finds out who killed Valentina. He wanted Norma's blessing to propose to Regina and she gladly gave it.

Marco got up and the fight went into Round Two, with bonus insults. Maria Teresa yelled for help that did not come. She managed to stop Santos from doing more damage. They then left. [I liked her wardrobe through most of this but that dress and those boots are not compatible.

Regina and Bernarda returned to La Esperanza. The workers were happy for Regina no being able to hear.

Maria Teresa and Santos returned. He was on fire over Marco's attack and insults. Not pleased that she had gone to Marco's place. She said she hadn't thought about what would happen; she had never seen him like this before. Santos said he'd see to it that Marco would never bother her again.

Pepe returned as the others showed their happiness about Regina's surgery, including commenting how happy Valentina would be. He walked away from the others, saying he had things to do. He was crying.

Norma entered Rut's office and put the divorce papers on his desk, saying she did not want to be married to him a second more. She also took off her wedding ring and put it on top of the papers. She was not intimidated when he tried to tell her she could not do this to him. She knew about Adriana and was sick of his deceptions.

Marco went inside, had a fit, threw things around, and cursed Santos and Maria Teresa. Irasema came in and asked where Adriana was. He told her that he since Adriana no longer lived there she was also to leave immediately. She had been Adriana's accomplice. Irasema mentioned Grim and Marco said that she and Adriana were the same. He demanded she leave.

Norma felt free and told Clemente so. He was proud of her and told her this was always within her. There was so much she wanted to do including travel, meeting new people, and taking classes.

Regina was enjoying the nature sounds, just as Bernarda had predicted. It hurt her that she would never hear Valentina's voice. Both she and Bernarda then pictured her approaching them. She made a gesture that said “Always together” before vanishing from sight,

Maria Teresa and Santos returned to La Esperanza. Nani was shocked but relieved that Santos rescued Maria Teresa. The lawyers and execs were waiting inside. Maria Teresa went in and Nani asked Santos if he was still in love with Maria Teresa. He said he was.

Remedios thanked Camila for her help the night before that prevented Marco from going after Santos. Camila was sure this was not the end of this and there was also Adriana. Both knew that this was not over yet.

The lawyers and executives told Maria Teresa they needed her at the company. It had been recovering since Esteban was cleared, but they needed her for her ideas and way of doing things.

Nani told Santi he should be with Maria Teresa and be happy. They were meant to be together. He recalled leaving so that Valentina and Maria Teresa could bond as sisters and now blamed himself for Valentina's death by leaving them unprotected.

Maria Teresa was finally convinced to go back to Corporateville. She told the others she needed to talk to Santos about the ranch before leaving it.

Episode 63: Part 2 of 3

Irasema went to Rut's office and told him she knew nothing of Adriana's whereabouts. Also that Marco had forced her to leave. He said that if Adriana had not told her she did not want her to know. She cried as he said he could not help her, almost throwing her out of his office. He was, however, a bit confused as he closed the door behind her.

Another customer in the saloon approached Trejo to report the discovery of a dead body at the foot of the embankment. He got up and left with him.

Maria Teresa told Nani she was not sure what to do. She asked Genoveva to help her pack. Genoveva was not happy at the prospect of Maria Teresa leaving. Maria Teresa trusted Santos to take care of the ranch.

After dark Irasema was still walking around with her single piece of luggage. She approached Norma who wanted nothing to do with her.

Rut went to the police station after a call from Trejo. He was not pleased to see him. Trejo explained that the people came looking for him in absence of a new police chief. Rut ordered everyone else out and when the room cleared Trejo said there was something important he had to tell him.

Maria Teresa talked to the photos on her desk, telling her father she loved the land but it had done well enough without her and will do so again. Santos came in and she told him she was returning to her life in the city. He was incredulous.

Trejo took Rut into a room and revealed the dead Adriana. “She was found in the same embankment as her husband. Don't you think this wasn't a coincidence?”

Maria Teresa told Santos she was also responsible for her father's company. He thought something else was going on. He finally told her he loved and needed her. She said he had taught her things she never knew and she came to appreciate a world she had not previously known. They kissed.

Rut shook his head, saying this was not possible. He noticed marks on her neck and said she had been choked. She did not die from the fall. Trejo said a forensic could determine that and Rut said he didn't have to tell anyone. Trejo asked if he suspected anyone. He said it could only be one person, but did not name him. He told Trejo not to give out any more information. “I will solve this.” He left the station.

More kisses and smiles from both Maria Teresa and Santos. Neither had ever looked this happy before.

Episode 63: Part 3 of 3

Regina was happy at hearing birds and insects, etc. She asked if these sounds were all the time and Bernarda told her that sound was crickets. She had her close her eyes and listen.

Maria Teresa and Santos went up to her room. Two te amos later they were on the bed.

Cris found Pepe drinking. Pepe confessed that he had done bad things for money because he was desperate.

Clemente told Norma not to worry about what happened before. She said she would not waste any more tears over Rut and Adriana. He was happy to see her taking action. She decided to dedicate herself to helping abused women. Clemente thought this a great idea.

Cris got Pepe some coffee. Pepe then conformed his role in the attack. Pepe was under threat of death from his paymaster. Cris told him he had to tell Santos so justice could be done.

Rut entered the hacienda and confronted Marco about Adriana. He admitted nothing, laughing at what he knew about both the relationship and about Adriana's past. Rut asked again.

Maria Teresa and Santos talked about how much time they had lost before going back to making up for it.

Marco denied having killed Adriana, saying that all he did was evict her from the ranch. Rut did not believe him. He threatened to put him in prison for the rest of his life if he can prove he murdered Adriana. Marco counter-accusing him of having killed Esteban.

More love talk for Maria Teresa and Santos.

Rut and Marco stalemated and it was now every man for himself. Rut left.

TIERRA

Urban, your well-crafted recap was enlightening and very much appreciated.

“Corporateville” had me smiling away. “I liked her wardrobe through most of this but that dress and those boots are not compatible” mirrored my exact thoughts every time Maria Teresa’s worn that “luke”.

I was only able to watch the first few minutes and so sorry I missed the long-awaited Maria Teresa and Santos reconciliation.

I couldn’t believe Irasema had to be told by Marco to leave a second time! She had better find a place to land or she will be coyote bait wandering around in the dark.

So, Pepe finally broke…

Norma putting her wedding ring on the divorce papers was a nice touch. There’s hope for her yet…

“Rut and Marco stalemated and it was now every man for himself” is exactly right.

Marco is a drunken, disheveled, depressed and disoriented mess. He has revealed his true nature and is universally despised, without allies. At least Rut has his job (for the moment) and I have no doubt he will be able to prove what Marco did (will there be a witness??).

Now all that’s left is to nail Rut.

I hope this is available On Demand before the finale.

Urban, you’ve done a stellar job on this. Thank you for everything.

Irasema should already know that Marco isn't right upstairs. In the next hour she will find out and... maybe that's the last thing she finds out.

Please, no bodas interrumpas.

Minas

Susan, I also think these will be the final couples. I am disappointed.

Diana, thanks for your comment! I hope you get better soon. I am sending good vibes :)
ITA with "But Leo left childhood long ago. Nothing about Roberta is the least bit murky; she is evil incarnate, her stench of evil is pervasive. He has chosen her above reason and truth. Any sympathy I had for him has evaporated."

The second part (Emi's return and revenge) has already started in Mexico; since her face was burnt completely, I thought it would be a good idea to have another actress play that part. I mean, it would make the fake person story WAY more believable. But as far as I have seen, it'll still be Livia Brito, with so slight changes that it's actually kind of funny. Oh well.

Minas Recapping

Since dear Diana isn't feeling very well, I'll do highlights for Monday's episode. I can do my usual Thursday and Friday. I'll need some help for Tuesday and Wednesday's episodes. Thank you :)

MINAS RECAPPING

Weirdo, thank you for offering to do Thursday and Friday!

There is no MINAS on Monday as Tierra has a 2 hour finale.

I will definitely do a tinycap for Tuesday. Is anyone else be willing to do this Wednesday? If not, I will try to put something up for that as well.

I don't think I am going to be able to keep doing three nights a week every week. It's extremely difficult not understanding the majority of dialogue. Would someone be willing to do one night a week - either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday going forward? I can do the other two nights...that said, we are going into a busy time of the year so schedules will need to be flexible.

ETERNAMENTE

Darcy, thanks. For me, it was rather surprising that they decided on such a complicated tale about Paula's past at this late date. I agree that if Paula had ran into Norma on the street and started having flashbacks, that would have been more effective. What we still don't know is why Eva was so nervous about Paula talking to Norma or if there something else? As for Paula's mother not wanting "her"(the baby), I agree that she was overwhelmed and abortion would have been a viable option considering her situation.

waterlily, I do not think that Rogelio really felt "excluded". I think he was sticking it to/needling Paula because now she finally realized how sometimes you are your own best counsel. Paula's expression reflected that she got his point. She was not a happy camper.

Diana, thanks, I am sorry that you were feeling under the weather but now are feeling better. ". . . I hope she and Gabriel get married sooner rather than later." I, also, feel the clock ticking with Martina, so with only ten episodes left, they better get a move on! : )

Niecie, thanks. It would be different if Imelda did think of somebody besides herself, wouldn't it? She is no prize but neither is Fernando. If they remain with each other, no other possible partners will be hurt by these two. They deserve each other.

Liz, thanks. "I hope Cecilia really likes Ricardo and is not trying to like him because Ignacio has someone. That had crossed my mind as well. Great minds . . . Here is hoping it turns out well. Good point about Marco not knowing about sizes in diapers. He made me smile. Both he and Blanca are going to have a lot of learning to do together.

Tierra

Thank you Urban! I am finally getting a chance to read the recap, it's been a busy weekend.

Irasema doesn't have two licks of common sense, I can't believe she actually went to Marco for help. Having her roaming the streets with her one suitcase, looking so lost and alone begging Norma for help had a certain kind of poetic justice... but it didn't make much logical sense. So, what she somehow doesn't have even a single dollar to her name? Can't afford a hotel room? A woman who has lived the life she has, would have some survival skills! I mean she used to drug clients for money, but she can't even take care of herself for one night? Marco was half passed out drunk and definitely got keeping an eye on her, I would have expected her to rob him of some cash or something valuable on his way out at the very least!!

I didn't like the executive telling MT she NEEDED to come back to the company. It felt condescending. They should be asking her what she wanted done - ie. come back and run it, appoint someone, sell, etc; instead of telling her what she needed to do.

Regina and Bernarda bonding over sounds is probably what both ladies need right now, the scene with Vale was touching!

So glad that Pepe finally told the truth!!! We get to see how it all plays out tomorrow night!

Tierra #63

Darcy,
you are on the money about Irasema. How long ago did she last drug and rob clients? Was she paid anything for functioning as the ama de llaves? As for Marco I think he would have been very careful with any cash in the house, like a safe in the study.

I agree about the pressure on MT to return to the office. Business' biggest talent is watching its own best interests without regard for work/life balance for its workers, at times including its CEOs.

Tierra

Urban, I wasn’t thinking about big money just whatever was at hand while Marco was passed out. He seems like the kind of guy that would have at least a few pesos in his wallet. Adriana’s wallet was probably still on the property somewhere.

Tierra Finale

I am likely not to be able to post a recap because of a computer problem that happened this morning. It will be a few hours before I can find out whether this can be resolved today or if the unit needs to go into the shop. I don't have a backup at this time.

If someone else can be on standby for the final hour I would appreciate it.

My apologies.

Tierra Finale

Update:
Computer running now!

Tierra

Urban, that's great! I'm glad it worked out for you. I will get the first hour recap up tomorrow morning as early as I can but it may be mid-morning since I have a couple of first thing in the morning tasks for work.

Tierra

I will be right behind you; I need to watch again to fill in a few blanks.
