ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #104

Busy evening. The notes will be up some time tomorrow morning.

MINAS

I've had this novela on in the background (half waiting for Mujer to return to the same time slot), but wow this show is pretty dark! Feels like something I'd see on Telemundo instead. I can only watch the electroshock scenes for so long before I have to look away

MINAS #36 A Few Hazy Highlights Part 1

Weirdo, I hope everything is all right with you. The dialog was far above my understanding so this is intentionally vague, intended only to start the discussion. Ruby, this is indeed dark and depressing and was difficult to watch and process.

Leo confronts Roberta after Emilia is taken away. As she defiantly juts out her jaw, I believe she asks him if he’d rather she be in jail or in the manicomio.

Sara calls Danilo, whom she has clearly smitten.

Back at the manicomio, we see electric shock therapy being given. We realize in horror that it is the lovely nurse that helped Emilia escape. The tortured prisoner looks on.

Danilo shows up at the manicomio with a man and a woman seemingly pretending to be his parents (?). They have an interview with the evil doctora and from the way he is looking and acting, appears he is being admitted. Has he purposely chosen to hide out here or is there another reason? I am in the dark.

Orlando tells Fidel his mother is dead. Fidel reaches for her picture but Orlando pulls it back. Fidel makes a halfhearted show of sympathy. A shadow of a smile plays on his face; is it because he damn well knows she is alive? ☹

Addled wants Danilo found. Now. He chastises Miriam when she shows up; he is a busy man. Does she tell him she is having a boy? He tears up.

Nico, Marijo and Joaquina are in the kitchen as the henchies bring in Sebastian. Marijo tell them to let him go and Joaquina tries to exude an air of calm none of them feel.

Leo consults with a lawyer. He thanks the Virgin and asks her to protect Emilia and Nico. Roberta enters and screams Emilia is back in the manicomio because she’s loco! Nico dissolves in tears. Sebas gets in her face and she has him thrown out. Nico is mine she thinks to herself.

MINAS #36 A Few Hazy Highlights Part 2 of 2

Emilia strokes the face of the nurse, telling her it is her fault. The other inmate/prisoner comes in and says the doctora is a monster.

Marijo and Leo talk with Roberta, who goes on that Emilia is responsible for the death of Mau. She tells Nico that Emilia is mentally ill which is why she is in the hospital; she had no choice.

Sebas meets with Tigre, Zaira and Gael and updates them. Tigre holds his heart, in pain as he laments Emilia and his grandson. Zaira ensures he gets his pills.

The buck toothed doctora puts on a show of being civil, giving the newly arrived Leo and the lawyer a tour. She paints a rosy picture showing them the array of activities available to the inmates, errr patients.

The poor nurse who received the electro shocks is literally foaming at the mouth. A free for all ensues, the bad nurse sends for help as the yet unnamed ever-present patient runs around screaming. Then, Danilo runs in, shortly thereafter resuming his “confused” state. Then, the nurse starts convulsing.

Outside, Sebas talks with the guard he is friendly with. After the guard goes inside, a green dumpster is being wheeled out as Sebas strokes his chin thoughtfully.

Sebas confronts Sara who isn’t going to help him.

Leo goes to see Emilia. He sits by her bedside murmuring “amor”. He asks for her forgiveness and tells her he loves her. He kisses her hand as the ugly visage of the doctora appears in the window. He goes over to the other bed where the good nurse is and asks if she is all right. He sees she clearly is not and finds some sort of pad left on her neck from the electroshock therapy and he evaporates in tears, returning to Emilia.

We see clever and resourceful Sebas sporting maintenance garb, pushing a cart inside the “facility”.

Addled questions Miriam as to why she is up at this hour. She sneers and frankly, I don’t care so I will leave it at that.

Zaira is intercepted by Gigi but I’m not sure what she wanted.

Sebastian is now in Emilia’s room gently rubbing her hand telling her he is there. She is murmuring about Nico. He assures her he is fine and clutches her hand tightly. Two nurses enter and see the cart. Sebas is under the bed, recording their conversation. I know it was incriminating but the only thing I could understand was Roberta’s name.

Back at rancid Roberta’s, she tells Leo that Emilia Sanchez is a murderer. Rather than choking the life out of her, he tries to reason (as if anyone could reason with Shelob). I believe she tells him to marry Sara and have a family. As they glare at each other, we fade to black.

Minas
Thanks, Diana. I don't know what it is with these last episodes, but I find it hard to concentrate on the dialogue. I just get so mad while watching that I end up having to rewind. It's bad enough that I listened to a podcast about Hitler and had a nightmare. And now this.
Emilia thought Leo had betrayed her. I found my self spitefully thinking'now you know how it feels, don't you, leo? You didn't trust her so now don't beg,.'
Sara actually told Sebas E is crazy and Leo doesn't love her. Roberta's delusions are contageous because it won't be long before Sara starts believing 'all is fair in love and war.' Who came up with this stupid saying?
I wanted to slap Jenifer for repeating that Sara should fight for Leo? How can a person be so immature as to say something like this? She said something about her situation being the same, even though Mauricio is dead. What is that supposed to mean?
They could have done so much with Jen, but nope. Let's make her even stupider than her mum.
Fidel apparently is going to pay the man who told Orlando his mum was dead.
Poor Sebas was so desperate that he thought that snake Sara would help. These telenovelas really make women look pathetic.
I kept thinking Mariana had kids, didn't she? Who is going to look after them?
Leo seems to have realised playing fair might not work. But going into the hospital without a judge's order is hardly the biggest crime. I bet he will do the stupid noble sacrifice bit instead of what Sebas is doing. Now I get irritated with Leo in nearly every scene he is in. I don't know why. But the last scene just was hard to watch because it feelssomething so overdone in terms of plot.
Gigi's servant told Miriam not to bite a hand that's feeding her because she saw M kissing Addled. Miriam doesn't feel guilty at all apparently because she said it was no big deal. Maybe she desrves Addled. She told him that once the child is born, she is willing to do a paternity test, but Addled will have to marry her if he wants the test done.Doesn't it feel at this point like there are too many stupid women here? It's like they are either dumb or evil. Then men are just useless. Sebas is the only one I can watch without wanting to tear my hear out.
What 'ideas' was Roberta looking for when Fidel showed up? He definitely protects that doctora because he said 'they' could get her involved in legal problems and that he and R had to help her. R was like 'she can defend herself. I warned her what will happen if she messes-up again.'
So we have Sebas recording a conversation where thestaff talked about how they injected E with doctora's new formula. It was especially chilling when the woman said 'There's an hour left till I can inject her with another dose and I want to go have dinner'. Just...When asked by the other guy if she didn't feel guilty about what they do to patients and colleagues, she said 'yes, but I see mywallet and forget about it'. Then she said something else I didn't catch. The guy asked if she knows why the doctora? I'm not sure if she meant her, but she asked why she hates E so much. The woman said she doesn't know and doesn't care. The only thing she knows is that the orders come directly from...you guessed it! La patrona.
Roberta also said she wanted la mina de esperanza in exchange for Emilia's freedom.
Roberta got very angry when Leo shouted that she killed her own son. When Fidel says it, she doesn't get mad.
Sebas needs to hurry up and get E out of there because i can't bear to watch more of this.
The lawyer who went with Leo is a human rights lawyer apparently.
I hope Sebas doesn't end up with Miriam. She has no self-respect and is an ungrateful snake. Does anyone have any ideas where the plot is going from here? I'm just so baffled by this telenovela.

Minas
It feels like a big contrast between a scene where Sebas got into the hospital sneakily and recorded a conversation and a scene where Roberta tells Leo he just has to marry Sara for her to leave E at peace. Do they mean for this to be a big sacrifice I'm supposed to admire?
I think Gigi wanted Zaira to read cards for her. She said it was a life or death matter...oh really.

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #104

Notes from the couch . . .

1. Martina thanks Ignacio for saving Fernando's life. She is in his debt. He says some things cannot be repaid. She says maybe not but she is here to make him a proposal. She wants him back at the Iturbide Company and the shares to be divided fairly. She adds that he would need to sell his company and dedicate himself to making the Iturbide Company the industry leader alongside his brothers. He thinks that would be the best way to eliminate the completion. She agrees but it would be the best strategy of all of them. What is more, he could take the money from the sale of his company and buy extra shares so he would have voting rights the same as Rogelio and Fernando. It is time for them to unite as a family and fight for the common good.

2. Rogelio calls to the principal to tell her that Lucas has been found. She informs him that Lucas has a three day suspension.

3. Cass tells Ignacio that she doesn't need to know what the topic was that he was discussing with Martina but she wants to know how he is feeling. In his true negative Nellie fashion, Ignacio never thought that the Iturbides would accept him out of pity. She doesn't agree that is the case.. He tells her that he wants her to leave him alone for a while. Being alone is his normal state. She asks him not to push her away. Ignacio says if he needs her, he will call her.

4. Paula tells Rogelio that the suspension will give Lucas time to think. Rogelio agrees. Rogelio asks if Paula is okay. She admits she hasn't felt good recently what with the attack and the cancellation of the wedding and now that it seems that her aunt Eva knew Cass long before her relationship with Ignacio. Eva never told her. Paula adds that she is also having these odd memories of a woman she doesn't know. She just doesn't understand anything. Rogelio makes it clear that he is there for her.

5. Honorio tells Micaela that he is gong to ask Martina for some time off so he can go to Cuitzeo to present Marco's proposal for his hotel on wheels to his cousin. He would love her to come. She says she can't leave Fernando and Martina alone. He thinks that she sees to stop putting everyone else first. As soon as he leaves, she is reading another poem that has been delivered. Honorio returns quickly and he sees her kissing the paper the poems are written on repeating "Love!" "Love!" He is puzzled by what he sees and asks if everything is fine. She says yes. He leaves again.

6. Honorio asks Martina for time off to go to Cuitzeo. Suddenly, Martina doesn't seem to know what or where Cuitzeo is. Honorio's look says that he cannot believe that she wouldn't know. She says fine but he needs to be back tomorrow.

ETERNAMENTE

7. Luis meets Fernando at a bar. Surprise! Fernando is not drinking any alcohol. Fernando thinks that the time has come to start doing things correctly. Everything has been a disaster until now. Luis reminds him he is still alive. Fernando agrees but he is alive due to Ignacio. Fernando doesn't know what to think about him. Luis with a smile reminds him that like it or not Ignacio is their brother. Luis asks how things are going with Imelda. Fernando tells him she wants a divorce. Fernando doesn't want that with the kids involved. Luis tells him that Andrea has started a relationship with some guy and he doesn't feel good about that either. They decide to drink their pain away with non-alcoholic piña coladas.

8. Lucas tells Paula that he is afraid that his father will stop loving him because he got suspended. Paula tries to assure him that will never happen. His father loves him and is so proud of him and his dreams. She does, too. Lucas thinks she is only supporting him because he is into music. (Is he turning into a mini-Ignacio?) Paula disagrees. She is saying it is because he is very brave and he is working to get what he wants. Paula gets a message. Her recording is being released on digital platforms . One of her songs will promote the collection. Lucas is also excited for her.

9. Rogelio approves what Martina offered Ignacio. He tells her that they have to give Ignacio plenty of time to think it all over.

10. Imelda tells her parents she could not stand spending one more minute with Fernando. Beatriz says she told her so. Her father says they will support her no matter what her situation is. He even offers to buy her a new house just for her. She offers to pay rent if he does that because she wants to be able to support her family on her own. That is important to her.

11. Martina brings Lucas a jigsaw puzzle with the understanding that they can do it together but not now because she is tired.

12. Paula plays the music box for Jazz to calm down. Again, the music takes her to different time and place where she sees the same unknown woman with her. Rogelio notices that she is off thinking about something else. She tells him about the strange memory she had of the same woman. He suggests that she ask her aunt. Maybe Eva knows.

13. Fernando gets home late and Imelda is angry. She cannot do it alone with two kids and have a life. He says he does what he can.

ETERNAMENTE

She reaffirms for the umpteenth time that the kids are HIS responsibility as much as HERS. He asks who supports them. Does she want to share that task, too? Sure, Imelda is up for that if that is what he wants. She wants to know where he was. When he says he was with Luis, she tells him he is lying.

14. Honorio visits with Felipa and Melitón. He tells them that Micaela is acting very strangely. He asks if she is going out with somebody. Neither Melitón or Felipa know but Felipa will find out. After Honorio leaves, they both celebrate that their plan is working. Melitón is ready to drop off another poem in the mail box.

15. Martina is now writing about Gabriel in her memory book. From the first time she heard his voice, she knew that she wanted to see him again. She remembers him kissing her as a young woman. She doesn't want to see him suffer. She loves him with all her heart.

16.Micalea is already smiling when Melitón bring her another envelope. When she tells him she wants to meet the person who is leaving these envelopes in the mailbox, he double talks his way out of giving her any real info. He asks why her eyes always seem to be shining with happiness whenever she gets one of these envelopes. Micaela insists that her eyes are shining with ANGER. She want to find out who is sending these so she can put a stop to it! He leaves. She smiles and her face lights up as she finds another poem in the envelope.

17. Martina tells Micaela that she want to eat breakfast in her room. She wants to be alone. Micaela brings her breakfast and Martina remarks that she didn't ask for anything to eat. Micaela reminds her that she was just in the kitchen asking her for it. Clearly shaken, Marina suddenly "remembers" having done out that.

18. Lucas asks Rogelio if he can borrow his laptop. Rogelio says sure.

19. Martina keeps writing about Gabriel and her recent reunion with him in the present where he did everything he could to restore her life as it was at La Villa.

20. At the table, Marco announces to the family how proud he is of Blanca whose design was just published in a digital magazine. Rogelio adds how proud he is that Paula's single was released today on all digital platforms and on the radio in Mexico. Imelda asks Fernando if he has not one thing good to say about her after the 1,580 (odd numberLOL) things she has done for him. He is silent. She is not surprised and leaves.

ETERNAMENTE

21. Ignacio asks the doctor why he is having trouble breathing . The doctor says he is having panic attacks which is understandable after what he has been through. He suggests they get a psychiatrist to come see him. Ignacio rejects that idea. He only wants to get out of there. He will take full responsibility for his condition if he can just leave. The doctor says Ignacio is his responsibility and he isn't going anywhere until he is healthy enough.

22. Cass tells Eva and Ceci she doesn't know what to do with Ignacio. Eva says he has always been strange. Cecilia warns Cass not to do what she did. She needs to help Ignacio. Maybe his therapist could help. They hatch a plan where Cecilia will do a video call with Camilo to Ignacio and suggest during the call that he have his therapist pay him a visit. The video call is a success.Ignacio agrees to meet with his therapist for Camilo's sake.

23. Luis is staking out Gabriel's house in Morelia where he sees Andrea leave with Marcelo. He calls Paula. He needs to talk to her.

24. Lucas finds the application form for the music school he wants to attend in the summer online and forwards it to his father completely with a link. He also sends him a message apologizing for leaving school and scaring him.

25. Eva avoids seeing Paula . She knows that Paula is going to ask her about knowing Cass and she doesn't want to deal with it.

26. Honorio arrives in Cuitzeo and shows his cousin the information about Marco's hotel on wheels. He tells Honorio he will look it over and discuss it with the others in the cooperative. He will contact him later that afternoon.

27. Luis tells Paula about how stupid it was for him to her agree to be just friends with Andrea. It's complicated and driving him crazy. Paula has to smile. He asks what she is thinking. Paula thinks that Andrea deserves to know how he feels about her. Luis immediately concludes he should just move to LA and be done with it. Paula tells him he wouldn't. He needs to stop running away from his feelings. Luis says that he knows what he has to do . . . They end up laughing.

28. Lucas visits Martina in her room and yes! she is ready to work on the puzzle with him.

29. Blanca sees her design in the online magazine with her photo. She celebrates with Micaela.

30. Fernando thinks back to Imelda wanting a divorce. He admits to Marco that he still loves Imelda although he feels like their relationship is more broken than ever. Then they have kids! He really doesn't know what to do. Marco tries to support him on trying to get Imelda back.

31. Fernando cals Imelda and asks her out to eat. She agrees. He feels hopeful.

32. Micaela is straightening up Martina's room. She goes to put something in a drawer and sees a slip of paper. It says "Martina, you know you will forget it all but never forget that you love this man with all your heart." She sees a book that was next to the slip of paper in the drawer. She picks it up and opens it to the first page. It is Martina's memory book. She reads Martina's writing about how she will be forgetting who the woman she sees in the mirror is. The reality of what is happening to Martina hits Micaela and she starts to cry.

That is it from me this morning. Please feel free to add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Please excuse the typos.

When Fernando said the legendary “he does what he can”, I wanted to slap him upside the head. Talk about feeling entitled. I hope Imelda goes through with the divorce.

How long can Eva avoid Paula? How long until Micaela finds out whose poems those are? How long until Martina has to tell the family about her disease? How long until Luis finds out if he still has a chance with Andrea? How long will Ignacio be in his depressive hole of an existence or will it become his permanent state of being as before? So many questions with only 16 episodes! : 0

I can’t wait until tonight!

eternamente
They are really going to drag out Martina's illness. If I liked this storyline, I wouldn't be bothered. But I just want to be done with this.
What is the point of telling someone you are in love with them when that person is with someone else already? It actually feels rather selfish because this way Luis is just seeking a relief by not being the only one with this knowledge. I mean, what is Andrea supposed to do with that info? It will just make me feel uncomfortable and even guilty. I don't get Paula's advice.
Is Paula pregnant? What is this obsession with babies in this telenovela? Or is she just unwell? In novelas coincidences don't exist.
Lucas said exactly the same thing as Rogelio. But in his case it appears it's because he doesn't trust the adults to mean what they say. It's sad, really. He fears losing Rogelio's love by disappointing him. maybe Rogelio should really talk to him or something. Paula ended up having to reassure him. I know Rog said he loved him but I find it hard to listen to kids say things like that. I know what that's like so I hope they sort this out. Paula feels like a saint in this telenovela especially next to her own husband and the rest of the male population. Gabriel is the only man I really like here. They kind of ruined Luis now for me.

Minas

Diana, thanks so much for the recap and Waterlily for all your additions.

While I'm not ill, I feel like I am. I'm too tired, although today I'm a bit better than yesterday. On top of how I feel, I had a very busy day (yesterday). I didn't even have time to go to Google! But thanks for your concern, Diana. I think I'll be able to recap today's episode tomorrow.

I'll comment later on the latest episode. Although I agree with everything I've seen - they had a good galán and ruined him.

MINAS

"What 'ideas' was Roberta looking for when Fidel showed up?" matched my own reaction waterlily. Chilling.

Thank you for all the details especially the conversation between the nursing staff. It would be wonderful if Sebas is able to spirit the recording out of there, but I fear it's far too early in the story.

I can't take any more of the electro shock therapy. Is the poor "good nurse" going to recover??

Weirdo, glad you aren't ill but sorry you are tired. If you are able to do a recap, great. If not we can talk among ourselves.

Diana

Minas

Help me. I feel like the writers have given all of us electric shock.

I actually stayed up and watched this chaos instead for recording it and going to bed . What is going on?

Diana and Waterlily, thanks for the recaps. I didn't realize that the good nurse was the one being electric shock. I thought it was Em. Yikes

I can't believe that the writers gave us Em escaping and then put her right back into the manicomia. Why? I am starting to feel really bad for Livia Brita because all she has been doing so far is crying, scresming, struggling, fighting . She must Be exhausted because I feel exhausted watching her.

What in the world did Sara say to Daniel to make him have himself committed to the manicomia ? Is he supposed to help Em escape or kill her or what ?

Once again, Seb is the only thinking, proactive person trying to actually help Em.

Leo....what can I say ? Leo........

MINAS

If anyone can explain what the heck Danilo was doing, voluntarily infiltrating the manicomio, please share.

Diana

MINAS

Susan, so it was Sara who wanted Danilo to "check in"? I knew they talked but hadn't understood that. The question is why and what??

Sebas is the star of this, no doubt. I did however like the fact Leo did what he did. At least the hideous doctora knows she is being watched.

Diana

Minas

Weirdo, I hope you get your energy back. Winter is coming here , and I am feeling tired , too. Plus running around taking care of everything I must take care of

Well, this crazy tale is an escape from crazy reality.

Ruby....hi there. Welcome.

OT....sending good vibrations to Judyb)))))))))))))))))

Minas

Diana, I dont understand the dialogue , but Daniel went into the manicomia after talking to Sara on the phone, and then he suddenly showed up with that couple being interviewed by Dr. Strangelove , so I assumed Sara asked him to get into the manicomia . However, maybe it was his idea to hide out from Addled who is looking for him and angry . Then Daniel was in Em's room fussing over the shocked nurse with Em and the Mystery patient. What is going on?

I just hope that Seb gets Em into that laundry cart and out for good .
have bad enough of the manicomia and evil doctora. Telenovelas love those laundry carts for escapes.

Minas
The only thing I remember fromDanilo's conversation with Sara was that he told her he is willing to risk it if she needs his help and she said she does. Sara was agonising over the fact she's never been in a position where she harmed a person who didn't do anything to her. So is her plan that Danilo will be the one to get E out of there? But how is he supposed to do it? I mean, what if he gets that therapy before he can do anything? Or do only 'the agressive ones' get it? I feel as though I've been given that therapy too. I don't want to repeat it. Now I feel as though I'm stuck on a spinning wheel when watching this story. Please let me out!

MINAS

Thank you Susan and waterlily.

So both Sebas and now Danilo are willing to put themselves in harms way to help the women they love. Leo does a tour....

I am eagerly looking forward to seeing what happens with Danilo. Still, I don't think Sara has even stepped on the redemption path. Telling Roberta where Emilia and Leo were has damned her fairly deeply in my estimation.

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, another superbly crafted, thoroughly engrossing recap. Your summaries have been sensational.

There was much I didn’t recall although some scenes weren’t aired here due to the President’s speech. Thank you for crystalizing and clarifying everything that occurred.

“Lucas thinks she is only supporting him because he is into music. (Is he turning into a mini-Ignacio?)” was but one of your insightful, spot-on analytical observations.

Matina is really struggling. It is if we are watching her drown yet are powerless to help. Alzheimer’s is a curse concocted by the devil.

“In his true negative Nellie fashion, Ignacio never thought that the Iturbides would accept him out of pity” was perfect. I like Cass and Cecilia working together to try and pull him out of his perpetual funk.

I’ve tired of Imelda and Fernando’s fighting and think it would be best if they divorce.

How will Micaela react when she finds out the truth behind the letters??

I loved all of the questions you posed, particularly “How long will Ignacio be in his depressive hole of an existence or will it become his permanent state of being as before? “Only time will tell.

Blanca’s light blue romantic poet shirt was the fashion highlight.

Diana

ETERNAMENTE

waterlily, "Is Paula pregnant? What is this obsession with babies in this telenovela? Or is she just unwell? In novelas coincidences don't exist. " I do not think that Paula is pregnant or really physically ill. I may be wrong but I feel she is tired out from the tedium of the Iturbide family that seems to be never-ending and now she has Eva, the woman who raised her, refusing to tell her what should be easy: like where does she know Cass from. Add her memories of a strange woman triggered by the music box, I can see why she's exhausted. "Gabriel is the only man I really like here." I can agree with that even though some of the other guys are not bad, but Gabriel seems to be the most inoffensive and kind.

Diana, thanks! I have had enough of Imelda and Francisco, as well. Imelda needs to move into her parents' house ASAP. "Alzheimer’s is a curse concocted by the devil." Nothing truer about the disease could be said affecting the patient and those who love them. I am happy that they are letting the worst of this for only the last twenty episodes if Martina makes it that long. We have 16 episodes left. As for Micaela's reaction, it could go either way because of the way Melitón and Felipa handled the situation. I hope there is happy ending for Honorio and Micaela and that they end up retired in Cuitzeo. I did notice Blanca's lovely blouse last night. Thanks for always bringing the costuming to our attention.

Tierra #57

This recap will appear later today as I have to go to the pharmacy, It's long so I can't type right now. Tonight's will also be delayed because I will be at the opera tomorrow afternoon for the last performance of Dead Man Walking.

Eternamente

Thanks, Jarifa. You nail this show again and again, to my delight. I'm nodding in agreement with all your questions.

I guess I missed when Imelda morphed from a cold Monarcha wanna-be to a hardworking independent woman. Neither she nor Fernando is a prize. I'd like to see them take the kids on a fun outing, to see if theirs is a family unit worth keeping intact.

Micaela is so sweet enjoying the poems.

I'm guessing Paula's is starting to remember events surrounding her parent's deaths.

How lucky Ignacio is to have both Cecilia and Cass working together for his good. The doctor needs to discharge him though because he's such a pain in the a$$. Just write a discharge order for him to follow up with his psych.

Eternamente

Thanks once again Jarifa. You filled in what I missed because of my Spanish and because of the President’s News Report.
I couldn’t figure out why Lucas wasn’t going to go to school. Suspension isn’t in my vocabulary, so it was either that or the News Bulletin that kept me in the dark.

I don’t like Imelda or Fernando, but she telling her dad she’ll pay rent because she wants to support her family on her own, then telling Fernando she can’t do it on her own, he needs to help her, what a contradiction!
Poor Fernando, even his mother couldn’t say something nice about him in her memory book. And why didn’t Imelda believe he was with Luis. I feel like Can This Marriage be Saved(from a magazine my mother got)wouldn’t be able to help them! And my memories, from my teen years, is that they saved some pretty bad marriages!

I like Cecilia and Cass working together but I don’t think I care what happens to Ignacio. A positive side to telenovelas, they provide so many unlikable people that in real life everyone seems so nice that you like everyone in your orbit.

One big problem with Martina’s sons is that they probably remember their mother doing everything as their dad’s been gone for about 20 years. And he was busy cheating on Martina.

I guess Paula will learn about her parents’ death and Eva’s past. Still wondering if Imelda will learn about her paternity. They don’t always tie up everything in telenovelas.

Liz

Minas

Well I'm seriously disappointed in Leo. If he marries Sara because Roberta told him she'll leave Emi alone I'll throw something at my screen.

Jen is indeed very disappointing. I never get why writers make these types of characters: the annoying ones that have a chance to be somewhat good but then ruin it all.

I keep hating the galanes recently. Tbh, the only galán which I really liked was León Contreras in La Doña 2. No wonder he was in a Telemundo show. I'm getting more and more disappointed with Uni.

I'll open a bottle of champagne! I'm not the only one hating galanes recently. When is this telenovela supposed to become... At this point I'll settle for bearable? Did they have the whole manicomio plot in the original? I'm starting to find it hard to watch the actress playing Roberta. Add to that that whole mental hospital thing and it's getting too much and I got through invencible and en nombre del amor. It wouldn't be as bad if Jenifer and Orlando at least were somewhat likable. Why have so many characters everyone just hates? Are those chickens also going to be evil? If r sends Marijo away, this will get even worse.

Seb is always ready to immediately get down and dirty for Em . Seb makes things happen ! Leo usually keeps on his sportscoat and tries to be philosophical about everything that Mother is doing to Em QTH???? I need a hero who DOES stuff. Seb does stuff . He is Em's ride or die.

I was surprised that Dan suddenly popped up and into the middle of the Em drama . I thought that he was long gone after fleecing Addled. What is his plan ? So far , we have gotten a lot of screaming , crying, and chaos. I get a big kick out of Dr. Demento with the big bandage in her cheek trying to act all calm and professional.

Come on, Seb, get Em in that laundry cart and out the door ...AGAIN....and this time take her far , far away from Roberta . The laundry cart trick worked so smooth!y in " Perdonna " when Whatsherface's dad got her out of the bordella.

MINAS

"...Dr. Demento with the big bandage in her cheek". 😊 Thanks Susan, I needed that!

I think all of us watching are disappointed in Leo. I'm hoping he can redeem himself.

I agree with all the comments.

Waterlily, yes, the manicomio plot was in the original.

OT/Coming soon on TelevisaUnivisión - 1/2

I just saw these telenovelas will be coming to Uni and I thought I should share:

1. El Amor no Tiene Receta (Love doesn't have a recipe) with Claudia Martín (recently seen in Los Ricos También Lloran and Vencer la Culpa) and Daniel Elbittar (Gael in El Amor Invencible) as the leads. The downside in terms of the galán is that it's another Juan Osorio production - sorry, but I can't say anything else after Invencible. It's an original story, although it has a not-so-original "rich person falls in love with poor person" plot.

2. El Maleficio (The hex) with Marlene Favela (Columba in Invencible) and Fernando Colunga - a villano-prota (who is in another upcoming one, El Conde on Telemundo) as the leads. It's produced by José Alberto Castro. Basically the protagonista (Beatriz), who lost her husband in a car crash, will give love another chance with... some dark sorcerer. I'm not kidding. Great life choices, Bea.

3. Vivir de Amor (I had to search for a translation for this - Live for love makes more sense than Live on love for a telenovela name, so I guess that's the correct translation) with Kimberly dos Ramos (currently in Vuelve a Mí on Telemundo) and Emmanuel Palomares (IIRC he was in Perdona Nuestros Pecados) as the leads. It's produced by Salvador Mejía. I can't find any plot related info yet...

4. Tu Vida Es Mi Vida (Your life is my life) with Susana González (Mi Camino es Amarte) and Valentino Lanús (Nada Personal - a TV Azteca telenovela) as the leads. Produced by Angelli Nesma. The female protagonista will be diagnosed with some serious illness and will change her life drastically - quit her job and decide to spend more time with her kids. It's an original story.

OT/Coming soon on TelevisaUnivisión - 2/2

5. Golpe de Suerte (Blow of luck) with a bunch of protas, including Big Ed Yáñez, as RGVChick has mentioned.
Wikipedia Plot: The telenovela follows three families from different social classes whose lives change the day they win the Melate lottery jackpot. The first family are the Perez family: Nacho, his wife Lupita, and their children Wendy and Rony. Nacho has the Teporingos Neza football team in his heart, since his father was a player. Nacho's dream is to take the team to the first division and turn it into one of the best teams in the world. The second family consists of Miranda, a single mother, and her son Diego, who, worried about their economic situation, asks his mother to buy a lottery ticket to buy a house and stop living on the streets. The third family is formed by Brenda Uriarte and her brother Tony, who want to stop living under the control of their stepmother Constanza, but cannot collect their prize because they are minors. The three families must deal with Dante Ferrer, an ambitious and corrupt financial advisor who becomes obsessed with stealing their money. It's produced by Nicandro Díaz González. It's a remake of the Chilean telenovela Si yo fuera rico (If I were rich). (Fun fact: the Chilean OG has been remade here as well with the same name, translated.)

And last but hopefully not least,

6. El Extraño Retorno de Diana Salazar (The strange return of Diana Salazar) with Angelique Boyer (Leona in Invencible) and... Sebastián Rulli (also in Los Ricos También Lloran and in a ViX original, Mas Allá de Ti) - very creative pairing (not). Produced by Carlos Bardasano. It also has one of the strangest -hence the name- plots I've ever seen; it firstly takes place in the 17th century, with a young couple who gets burned -literally- because the woman has some weird telekinesis powers and people believe the boy has them too (he doesn't). They promise they'll meet each other in another life. At present times, a woman has the same powers as the one in the 17th century and she meets, well, the guy. It's like they've been reborn some centuries later. Oh and she also sees strange dreams of their 17th century selves without being able to understand the people are their 17th century selves.
Some sources claim this will be a ViX original.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to any of them?

Personally, I'm interested in Tu Vida Es Mi Vida because it's an original story - I'm tired of the remakes. El Amor no Tiene Receta as well, but mostly for Elbittar, because I'm scared of how it'll turn out after Invencible. If Diana Salazar is a ViX original I'll be forced to skip it - ViX isn't available in Greece, just like the Telemundo app. Ugh. I can't say anything for Vivir since we have 0 info on the plot. I like Marlene Favela so maybe I'll take a look at Maleficio. I'll definitely watch Golpe de Suerte because 1) I've already watched a remake of the OG and want to see what changes we'll have in this version and 2) Big Ed Yáñez. But since there's no way I'll have time, Tu Vida and Golpe are my #1 priorities.

ETERNAMENTE

I think I finally have finally entered the habitual "Telenovela' doldrums" which usually hits me much earlier. Melitón's stupidity pushed me over the edge earlier this week and now I am quite impatient for some of the characters to FINALLY get their act together because the list of characters I no longer care about is growing . . . with each episode. LOL

Niecie, "The doctor needs to discharge him(Ignacio) though because he's such a pain in the a$$. Just write a discharge order for him to follow up with his psych." Exactly. Of course, Ignacio could always do everyone a favor and just walk out but, of course, he wouldn't make it that far. Ignacio is so full of "it" and himself. "I'm guessing Paula's is starting to remember events surrounding her parent's deaths." Yep, that is one major plot line that has yet to be dealt with. "A positive side to telenovelas, they provide so many unlikable people that in real life everyone seems so nice that you like everyone in your orbit." I never thought about novelas like that. Thanks for the different point of view.

Liz, " I feel like Can This Marriage be Saved(from a magazine my mother got)wouldn’t be able to help them! And my memories, from my teen years, is that they saved some pretty bad marriages!" I have a feeling that Imelda has already made her exit from the marriage in at least her head so I do not hold out much hope for a reconciliation. Divorce might be better for the kids in the long run without them having to listen to the constant bickering. "A positive side to telenovelas, they provide so many unlikable people that in real life everyone seems so nice that you like everyone in your orbit. " I never thought about novelas that way. Thanks for a new point of view.

OT

Weirdo, thanks for the news on what's upcoming. My goal is to check out the premiere of all of them, but the one with Yanez and three families winning the lottery is my No. 1 choice. Rulli and Boyer in a 17th century drama sounds intriguing too.

OT

Weirdo , thanks for the heads up for the new shows. I am mostly looking forward to " Receta" because I want to see Daniel as rich Esteban. I think filming starts soon, and he already is pumping up and has a new , shorter hairstyle. This guy has had so many hairstyles ...very short when he was young and at Venevision and Azteca and also in " Herencia " and " Desalmada." I think the longest I have seen his hair was in " Invencible ." He seems hopeful about this new show, and Annan Osorio seems to love him. The leading lady is Claudia Martin who will star in the new " Vencer."

Big Ed was one of my original telenovios , so I look forward to watching him .

O/T

Thanks so much Weirdo!!

I'm with you Niecie that Golpe de Suerte looks great! Tu Vida Es Mi Vida is a must because Susana, my favorite is in it. El Amor no Tiene Receta with Daniel is worth a look...as is El Maleficio with Marlene.

Rulli and Boyer's sounds interesting. All look pretty good.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/19/23
Episode 57: Part 1 of 3

Rut went to La Soledad and Adriana fed him some BS about how she felt about him and how hard it was to keep this secret from Norma. He told her this wasn't her fault and she could count on him for anything.

Bernarda told Maria Teresa she could not accept this, Maria Teresa said it was her father's wish. Bernarda told Valentina it was her decision. Valentina accepted. Maria Teresa then said she needed a replacement for Santos and asked her if she would take the position. [¡Que sorpresa!]

Cris brought Susi food and the good news that Remedios was going to blow the whistle.

After Maria Teresa's explanation of her reasons for this Valentina accepted. Provided that the workers would be free of Marco and his. Maria Teresa promised to talk to him that day. They shook hands and hugged.

Rut described Norma's reaction and said he needed to get a hotel room. Adriana insisted he stay at the hacienda. Rut hesitated but Adriana said the ranch would be entirely hers once Marco moved in with Maria Teresa. He commented that this would be very convenient as “a woman like you deserves to not be dependent on anyone.”

Both Bernarda and Regina were confident in Valentina over her new opportunity.

Santos was doing odd jobs for others at this time. Remedios declined the money he offered to contribute to the household. He said it was also his home because he could not return to La Esperanza due to his promise to Esteban.

Maria Teresa and Valentina discussed the morning routine and some other things. The main difference between them was Maria Teresa's advanced education, but she said they had much to learn from each other. Valentina said she needed help with math. All was well between them.

Marco found Rut and Adriana indulging themselves with wine. Rut said he was having trouble with Norma and came to Adriana for advice. Marco stared at both and when Rut asked about Maria Teresa Marco answered “It's going well. We understand each other perfectly.” Adriana gave some BS about wanting to hear wedding bells. She excused herself to get the servants to prepare a room for Rut. Marco asked what this was about and Rut said he'd only be there overnight.. Marco said he could stay as long as he needed to. They were playing chess with words and looked like two duellists assessing each other's weaknesses.

Valentina looked at the checque and woke Regina to tell her her was going to use the money for her surgery. Regina said “The money was for you” but Valentina said she didn't need it for herself. “You are going to hear.” They hugged.

Chris asked Genoveva to not tell anyone about Susi hiding out. She agreed but was still short with him.

Regina and Valentina told Bernarda about this plan. While Bernarda said it was her responsibility Valentina told her she wanted to do this for her sister. Bernarda accepted this and hugged both girls.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/19/23
Episode 57: Part 2 of 3

Clemente made tea for Norma who still did not comprehend how Rut could have done this to her. [Mujer, Rutilio es un patân.] She cried even as Clemente told her she was so much more than Rut. There was a whole world outside the house without Rut.

The next day Genoveva brought drinks out and two guys teased Cris about her.

Maria Teresa told Santos about her father's bequest to him, and Bernarda's family because of their loyalty and care of the land. He said that Esteban had been like a father to him. She knew that and said she would give him the documents.

Rut commented on how he got such a good night's sleep at the ranch. Adriana liked that he felt at home. Marco showed up and she went to check on something in the kitchen. Rut and Marco talked about restarting their business because of recent losses. Rut dismissed his issues with Norma as her being over-dramatic. Marco said the river was alright except for Santos being free and “That's your fault.” Marco then decided to frame Bernarda as Esteban's killer because he was the father of her daughter who is now an heiress. Rut became curious.

Maria Teresa told Santos she was sorry that things between them got so bad. He said that the only important thing now was to find the killer. La Esperanza will go on. Just as they spoke of a hypothetical reconciliation Valentina appeared and Maria Teresa told Santos that Valentina will help until he decided to return. He said he was glad they would be working together. Both looked longingly at him as he walked away.

Cris explained his relationship with Genoveva to Susi who became very nervous that Genoveva knew about her.

Rodrigo asked Trejo about the investigation into Esteban's murder. Trejo invited him to read the report on his computer screen. When he asked about Santos' machete Rodrigo told him the forensic tests showed that it was not the murder weapon.

Remedios went to Norma who said her life was over. [eye roll] Clemente left them alone and Norma told all. Remedios told her that she was not mistaken and that Adriana was a demon.

Maria Teresa and Valentina continued their work and their bonding as sisters.

Bernarda and Regina went to the hacienda to use the phone and found Genoveva upset over Cris. This validated Bernarda's attitude. She did, however, call Clemente to find out more about the surgery.

Remedios told Norma she should not allow Adriana to continue to hurt others. She told her about the brothel and that she had seen her kill Jeronimo.

Maria Teresa and Valentina about production. Marco arrived and Maria Teresa told him Valentina was going to take over supervision of the workers. His jaw stiffened when he tried to dismiss Valentina on grounds of age. Maria Teresa told him that Valentina was born and raised there and knew the ranch better than either of them. Marco would not give up but Maria Teresa went on saying that she took over all the administrative work. He was to get all his people back to his ranch. He said he would.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/19/23
Episode 57: Part 3 of 3

Norma asked Remedios why she never said anything about Jeronimo. Remedios spoke of corruption and Marco blaming Santos. Adriana had taken his side. Nobody said anything. Norma was convinced that this was not to be ignored.

More mutual appreciation between Maria Teresa and Valentina with Valentina telling Maria Teresa not to trust Marco.

Remedios told Norma she would get over this. She had a good son and she was not to let this defeat her. She would be surprised at what she could do without Rut. Starting with seeing justice done. They would go to Trejo.

Rodrigo asked Rut about the investigation. Rut told him that Esteban had an illegitimate daughter whose mother had a motive for the murder: that it made the daughter an heiress.

The workers told Maria Teresa they did not like Marco or the Jackal. She gave them the news that now Valentina would supervise them. They applauded.

? Episodes Remaining All scenes in episodes so far since #45 have been edited into a different order. Since the finale date has not yet been announced there could be more than 5 episodes to come.

TIERRA

Urban, marvelous, every word. I especially enjoyed "[Mujer, Rutilio es un patân.]"

"They were playing chess with words and looked like two duellists assessing each other's weaknesses" mirrored that scene to perfection.

It's wonderful to see Bernarda and her girls so happy! Valentina with her new responsibilities and Regina ready for her operation where hopefully she will be able to hear.

It was equally heartening to see the bond Maria Teresa and Valentina are forging. Now, Maria Teresa finally has the family she thought she had lost forever.

Yes, both Valentina and Maria Teresa had the "look of love" as they watched Santos stride away. I'm unsettled as to how this will be resolved. I kept thinking there might be an eligible bachelor waiting in the wings for Val but that doesn't seem the case.

I didn't realize (or forgot) Remedios saw Adriana kill her husband. With Norma now incensed, bothered and betrayed, I sense Adriana's downfall will happen quickly. Looking forward to it!

As we are so close to the end, I'm thinking the plans to frame Bernarda will fall flat. I know - never say never but I think Rut and Marco will somehow cancel each other. I live in hope :)

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #105 Page one

Notes from the couch . . . it was a very looong one tonight.

1. Paula runs into Micaela in the hall. Micaela asks to see her in the privacy of her room. Once inside, she hands Paula the memory book and tells her it will show her what is wrong with Martina. Paula reads the introduction and as she realizes that Martina is writing this to herself to be a reminder of who she was, she starts to cry. Micaela says she found it in her chest of drawers unintentionally. What to do? Paula now understands Martina's repetitions, her being disoriented and the cancellation of her wedding. Paula tells Micaela to put the book back and to say nothing to anyone. Paula needs to think. She doesn't know what would be the best thing to do. Micaela returns the book to Martina's room. Paula tries calling Martina's doctor.

2. Blanca has fallen asleep after looking at class schedules. She is now late for her class. She packs up and leaves.

3. Martina is working on the jig saw puzzle with Lucas when Paula arrives. They are finding it to be a hard one. He decides to go play. Paula sits down. Martina asks her if something is wrong with her. Paula starts out by saying that Martina knows that she loves her a lot and in spite of all the problems that they once had, she sees her as a maternal figure. Martina asks so?? Paula says she knows what is wrong with Martina. Martina wants to know what she is talking about and makes it clear that whatever is happening to her is HER business. Paula disagrees. it affects the whole family. She knows her diagnosis and knows it is a difficult illness but it can progress more slowly if she takes care of herself. Paula lets her know one way or another they will help her face this together. Martina asks her what right does she have to become involved in her personal life. Paula says she only wants to help her. Marina cuts her off and warns her not to say a single word to her sons. Paula insists they have a aright to know. Martina says she isn't out of her mind yet. This life and this illness are HERS. She knows exactly what she is doing. She tells Paula to respect her decisions because if she doesn't and tells her sons before she does, she will be gone and nobody will ever see or hear from her again. Paula agrees that she will not do anything. Martina wants to be alone. Paula leaves. Martina cries.

ETERNAMENTE Page two

4. Inside the house, Micaela prays. Paula tells her that she spoke with Martina and she became furious with her and that if they tell anyone about her illness before she does, she will disappear. They agree that the wedding cancellation now makes sense with Martina not wanting to be seen weak or as a burden. Paula is frustrated that she cannot do anything to help her. Micaela feels the same because Martina has been like a sister to her. Paula feels like she has been a mother to her. It kills Paula not being able to tell Rogelio but she will respect Martina's wishes. They cry and hug each other.

5. The therapist visits Ignacio and is happy to see he is out of danger. She asks him why is he so angry. He says he got hit by two bullets. She reminds him that was not an accident. He protected his brother and saved his life. He says he would have done if for anyone. She says he knows that is not true. Wouldn't it be easier to recognize the fact that he loves his brother and that he is still looking for acceptance from the family? He doesn't want them to feel sorry for him or to see him as a victim. She reminds him that he is the first one to victimize himself and he has been doing it all of these years. So, he shouldn't be surprised that they pity him. He asks if she came to scold him or what. She says she wanted to know how he was feeling. He answers that she now knows that he is fine. Now that he has time, she recommends that he think about the image of himself that he has always presented to others. She warns him that victims make others powerless and as a consequence anger follows. Ignacio concludes that he is to blame for it all. She shakes her head and says the time has come to stop thinking that the world revolves around him. Maybe it would be just easier to accept that he saved his brother out of love for him so that respect and gratitude might replace blame and anger. She hopes he is better soon and starts to leave. Ignacio thanks her before she does.

6. Marco thinks that Rogelio doesn't like his project. Rogelio says it is great. Rogelio knows that the problem is him. He is feeling overwhelmed. He assures Marco that he is not ill. He doesn't know what is wrong but he just doesn't feel right. Marco can understand the pressure he is under with all of the responsibility he has. Rogelio says the truth is sometimes he would like to just run away. Marco makes sure that Rogelio knows that he can count on him for whatever he needs. Rogelio says the way that Marco can really help him is by fighting for his dreams by continuing with that enthusiasm he has. The way he fights for and works on his projects is to be envied. He has to congratulate him and tells him to keep it up. Marco asks for a hug and Rogelio gives him one.

7. Out in Cuitzeo, Honorio's cousin tells him that they do not understand much about these hotels on wheels. That being said they have a portion nof their land that is not going to be used for planting. They were thinking about making it into a parking lot but if the project can make more off of it, its available. Honorio says Marco is going to be overjoyed. Honorio asks if they agree with the rest of the proposal. Yes, they do. Honorio concludes it will be good business for everyone.

8. Martina gets a text from Gabriel saying he loves her. She does not answer.

ETERNAMENTE Page three

9. Fernando pays Rogelio a visit knowing he is not happy to see him but he is going to take advantage of the fact that Ignacio is immobile so that he has to listen to him. Fernando tells him that they are alike in many ways. They have always been looking for eternal approval, eternal recognition. All that Fernando is there for is to tell him THANK YOU. Only Ignacio knows why he saved him but he there to offer his affection and loyalty. He hopes that with time Ignacio comes to realize that he is being sincere and he has always been sincere within. Ignacio softly laughs but then in tears says that he has recognized that he has had a lot of affection for Fernando because he was the only one who believed him in the past. He wants to give him a heartfelt apology for all of the damage he did to him. Fernando thanks him and hopes that now they can finally treat each other like real brothers. He thanks him for giving him his life back. Fernando leaves and Ignacio sobs.

10. Marco comes home and Blanca is fast asleep. (UH OH!) Marco has other ideas on how to keep her awake.

11. Imelda makes plans to meet Fernando at 8:00 at El Cedro. Meltión will drive her.

12. Imelda gets a phone call from JJ that he wants her to meet some clients at a bar. They are leaving tonight. She says she has other plans. JJ tells her it will only take a few minutes. She says she literally only has ten minutes but she will be there. She calls Melitón.

13. Imelda meets JJ at the bar but there are no clients. He tells her that she got there a little too late and they had to go. She asks him why didn't he tell her earlier if he wanted her to meet them. He knows he should have but he lost his cell phone signal and it all happened so quickly. She is ready to go but he insists that she stay and have a glass of wine. She won't be late. He is asking he for only five minutes.

14. Fernando is at the restaurant looking at the time and wondering where Imelda is. He texts Melitón to find out if they are on the way. Melitón tells him that Imelda asked him to take her to the Tarasca Bar and that he is waiting for her. Melitón thinks it has something to do with work. He tells Melitón he is going to come over to the bar.

15. Paula tells Rogelio that she thinks he is not doing the right thing by not being interested in Lucas' desire to study music. Rogelio defends himself saying he told him that they would talk about it later which doesn't mean that he is isn't interested or doesn't support him. She says that little kids don't see it that way. Rogelio says of course he will support him but he needs time. He surprises Paula by saying hehas his own problems and conflicts. His head is a mess. He needs time. He asks her to understand. She asks how can she understand him when he doesn't tell him what is going on with him. He admits he doesn't even know himself.

16.At the bar, JJ asks Imelda if Ignacio is okay. She supposes so but doesn't know. She tells him she has to leave and JJ insists that she stay a while longer. She stands up. He stands up and has his hands on her arms as he asks he to stay a bit longer. Fernando walks in and punches JJ in the face and give him a bloody lip. He warns JJ not to touch his wife again. Fernando grabs her by the arm and tells her they are leaving . Her date with JJ s over. He leads her out of the bar.

ETERNAMENTE Page 417. Rogelio talks to a sleeping Lucas telling him he will always support him. He will always be there for him.

!8. Fernando takes Imelda to the restaurant. She wants to know why. He shows her that he had arranged all of this to show her that he wanted to get back with her but it has turned out that the only person she cares about is JJ. She cannot believe what he is saying after the show he just put on. He never even asked her what was going on. He tells her to tell him. She decides not to bother because he would never believe her anyway. Fernando says he set this up for them but all that JJ has to do is snap his fingers and she goes running after him. Imelda reminds Fernando that she isn't like him. She reminds him of his affair with Ximena. She is so sick of his lack of respect, his incompetence, his machismo . . . Who does he think he is? Fernando says he has loved her but for her nothing is ever enough. Better that she admit that she never has loved him. She tells him she wants a divorce and she is being serious. She leaves and Fernando goes running after her to talk some more.

19. Nobody is sleeping well at Villa Morelia or at Gabriel's place.

20. The next morning, Gabriel visit Martina. She wants to know why he is there. He answers that he refuses to give up. He asks her not to do this to him. He doesn't have a life without her. She insists that she isn't going to change her mind. She knows that she is hurting him and it hurts her heart but it is the right thing to do because of the love that she has for him. He doesn't want to hear about sacrifices made for love. They did that for forty years. He wants her to help him understand why things changed. She answers that if he really loves her, not to pressure her. She asks him not to insist. He accuses her of being very unfair and she begs him to go. He turns and goes. Martina remains crying. Micaela intercepts Gabriel on the way out. She asks if she can come talk to him at his home. He says yes.

21. Fernando asks Imelda if they can talk. She excuses herself and leaves.

22. At work, JJ shows Fidel and Rogelio how Fernando left him with a fat lip when he was at a bar with Imelda. He explains that he had been meeting with clients. He was saying goodbye to Imelda when Fernando showed up and didn't let him explain anything. Rogelio says that Fernando is going through a rough time (YAWN) because JJ hired his wife to work with him. He is jealous. Rogelio wants JJ to be honest him. Does he "like" Imelda? JJ says he doesn't "like" her. He thinks Imelda is a smart woman and he is supporting her career and development in the company. He stops there aggravated that he would be justifying himself to them when he has loads to do. He leaves saying again that he doesn't "like" Imelda.

23. Rogelio calls Fernando and chews him out for attacking JJ. Fernando refuses to argue with him. They can talk later in the evening. He hangs up on Rogelio who calls him an imbecile.

24. Micalea goes to see Gabriel. She realizes she may be making a big mistake but she has to tell him something because it isn't fair what is happening. He says to tell him already. She makes him swear that he will not tell Martina that she told him. She tells him that Martina has that illness that is going to make her forget everything little by little

25. Lucas is all excited about going to a music course on vacation. He has Paula to thank for that. He is so lucky she is his father's wife. Paula is even luckier that he is Jazz's big brother.

ETERNAMENTE Page five

26. Micalea prays to the Virgin asking for forgiveness for not keeping the promise to Paula that she wouldn't tells anyone about Martina's illness but it just wasn't right for her to lose the great love of her life. She prays that Martina gets the love she deserves.

27. Marina gets a visitor that evening. She thinks it is Micaela but it is Gabriel. He confronts her by asking her how dare she make a decision like she did without consulting him. How could she dare decide for him. Hadn't they decided that they wold be together until the end? He can only conclude that if something happened to him, she would abandon him. She thinks that Paula told him. He says no. It wasn't her. She shouldn't underestimate him. It doesn't matter how he found out. She asks what does he want her to do.
She is going to forget things. She might confuse him with Hipólito. She may not know him at all. He does not care. She can call him whatever name she wants. He only wants to breathe next to her and that his life has meaning. Without her, he would rather be dead. She asks if he knows how hard he is making this. Just thinking about forgetting her sons is destroying her from the inside. He asks her to think of him, too. His only suffering and terror would be to be without her. If she loses her memory, he will be there to take her by the hand and remind her of all of the beautiful moments of her life. He begs her to not destroy their love story. They were made to be together. She needn't be the solitary heroine in this fight. He insists that they are going to get married. There is to be no discussion about that. If she refuses, he is going to steal her on horseback like in the old ranchero tales. She has to smile and thank him for loving her like he does. He tells her what is most important is that she talk to her sons ASAP. He loves her and will never leave her no matter what.

28. Paula goes to visit Eva.

29. Micaela has been concerned for Blanca. She has made her a special drink to take with her. Blanca says she has just been so tired lately. Micaela tells her to take care of herself.

30. Paula has two questions to ask Eva. Eva is immediately on the defensive. First, she wants to know why she did not answer her when she asked her if she knew Cass. Eva explains that she met Cass years ago when she worked in bar. She worked as a . . . Eva never completes the sentence but adds that Cass worked their doing sewing and other odd jobs. Eva doesn't like to talk about things from back then because her life was very hard. Paula is satisfied by that. Paula then tells Eva that she is having these memories from the past of a girl who is about five who she thinks is her and a woman who is neither her mother nor Eva. She asks if Eva knows who she is. Eva gets nervous and doesn't seem to know but says there was a baby-sitter that took care of Paula. Everyone has baby-sitters. Her name?? Paula says she needs to know to make sense of these memories. Eva comes up with "Norma". The name of the baby-sitter was Norma. Eva says now it is her turn to ask Paula a question. She knows that something is up and asks Paula what it is. Paula says she will know soon enough but she cannot say now. Eva is not pleased. Before she leaves, Paula tells Eva to see if she can remember more because her questions are not going to stop.

31. Rogelio is at Pedro's restaurant explaining to him how he is feeling. It is as if he is carrying a stone on his back like El Pípila (reference to historic figure from Mexican War of Independence who supposedly had to fight off the enemy all on his own. He had a long flat stone strapped on his back to protect him from the gunfire of the Spaniards) Pedro can understand because he knows the responsibility Rogelio has carried all these years taking over the family business. Rogelio says he has learned a lot from his son. Lucas knows exactly what he wants. He wants to be a musician.

ETERNAMENTE Page six

Rogelio admits that at his age, he doesn't know what he really wants to do. Pedro asks what Paula thinks. Rogelio doesn't want to burden her with his insecurities. She has enough on her own plate. Pedro thinks that the first step to change is knowing that you don't want to be doing what you are doing. Rogelio is terrified of making a change. Pedro suggests that Rogelio let his brother run the company and that he do what he is really passionate about. If he follow his passion, he will never really be working.

32. Luis asks for his mother's advice. He tells her that he is still in love with Andrea. He told her that they could be friends but now he doesn't know what to do. Martina tells him to talk to her. He doesn't want to for fear of being rejected. She tells him to follow his heart and if his heart says "yes", he needs to talk to her. He admits she is right like she always is.

33. Luis tells Rogelio he is thinking about transferring his restaurant to a new owner. He is getting older and is getting tired of traveling back and forth from Mexico City, where he has his other restaurants, to this restaurant in Morelia. Rogelio knows that the will make the right decision. Rogelio will always support him. They toast to change.

34. Fernando comes home to talk to Imelda only to find that she has moved out. She leaves him a note that she is living at her parents' house. She will be starting divorce proceedings tomorrow. He cries.

35. Cass visits Ignacio. He is in a much better mood. He is ashamed that he was like he was with her and he apologizes. He says he loves her. She kisses him on the forehead.

36. Martina has the whole family at the supper table. She asks Paula and Blanca to leave her alone with her sons for a minute. When they are gone, Martina tells her sons she has two important things to tell them. She is going to marry Gabriel. Everyone seems happy for her. Before she tells them the second thing, she tells them to never forget that she loves them. She refuses to beat around the bush. She has Alzheimer's. All of her sons look stricken.

That is it for me. Please feel free to add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, a beautifully written, exquisite summary.

In life, there are tragedies that must be borne, unimaginable heartbreak. Yet, in the midst of despair, a slight sliver of light, of salvation permeates and illuminates the consciousness. In the deepest, darkest moments those whom you love and who love you appear with a lifeline of support and the greatest gift of all – hope.

Paula and Mica acted with caring compassion. Paula in speaking to Martina directly and Mica telling Gabriel. In turn, Gabriel stood up and refused to let Martina retreat from their relationship they fought so hard for. “She is going to forget things. She might confuse him with Hipólito. She may not know him at all. He does not care. She can call him whatever name she wants. He only wants to breathe next to her and that his life has meaning. Without her, he would rather be dead” encapsulates that perfectly.

Martina’s sons have swallowed a bitter pill and while sadder, are wiser. As painful as watching your loved one mentally and/or physically decline, you have the precious gift of time (however brief) to shower them with love and affection, with words and actions. Some are gone in an instant and there is no chance to say how much they are loved. The biggest tragedy is never having the chance to say goodbye.

Ignacio and Fernando seem to be working their way into a true brotherly relationship.

Imelda clearly had no interest in meeting JJ. I am equally sure there were no plans to meet clients that night. JJ, like his niece, doesn’t seem to want to take no for an answer. If only Fernando had reacted with calm but he is too hotheaded. It seems Imelda is really done and I don’t blame her.

Sounds as though Rogelio is having a career crisis. Could a culinary venture be in his future?

Blanca falling asleep twice in rapid succession seems to be an ah-ha moment! 😊

So this is what doldrums are like. I kept thinking why this episode was so long.
Rogelio is going to struggle if he can't focus on his problems and on his son at the same time. His 'my own problems' sounded somehow petulant to me.
It never occurred to me that running a family business might not have been what he had wanted to do but he didn't get a chance to find out I imagine. I wonder if he ever asked himself what he liked doing and if he ever enjoyed running that company or if he did it because he had to.
It irritates me that Martina, even after talking to Gabriel, still was ready to scold Paula. I can't understand how she can tell him 'if you love me, don't ask for an explanation and accept I broke it off'. Why would anyone want to just walk off without knowing the truth?
Martina is lucky Paula tolerates her shouting. Paula was right to ask her 'so you just want us to sit around and see what happens'. I still find it odd how both Micaela and Paula talk about Martina as if she were some kind of saint. I don't recall Martina really being like a mother to Paula. If anything, she was pretty horrible at one point after paula lost her baby, saying she had just to pull herself togther because she, Martina, is suffering too. No mother would ever say that to her child unless she is a horrible narcisist or something. This telenovela gave awful people the kind of people/family members such people wouldn't get in real life I imagine. I find it hard to feel as much sympathy to Martina as I would for a nicer character, for instance, because of how she treated people and how she treated Gabriel recently. How did she get such a nice man to fall in love with her?
I'm glad Ignacio and Fernando talked. It's strangely satisfying they are alike. Fernando made me laugh with his 'you can't move so I'll take advantage of this'.
Rogelio seemed surprised Lucas knows what he wants at a young age. Is it because Rogelio didn't?
JJ is doing a Violeta. What is wrong with the guy? He doesn't seem stupid enough to cause the kind of scandal that V caused. But maybe I'm giving him too much credit.

ETERNAMENTE

It was good to see Ignacio take to heart what his therapist had to tell him. Maybe we can put that plot to rest and he can ride off into the sunset a changed man with Cass. As for Paula, all I can say is that Eva better get talking. Her lying about the mysterious woman's identity was so obvious. Are they saving the worst for last?

Diana, thanks! "In the deepest, darkest moments those whom you love and who love you appear with a lifeline of support and the greatest gift of all – hope. " That is beautifully put and so true. It doesn't take much. ; ) Yes, it sounds like it is "mid-life crisis" time for Rogelio. "Could a culinary venture be in his future?" Great minds think alike. I would guess YES! "Imelda clearly had no interest in meeting JJ. I am equally sure there were no plans to meet clients that night. JJ, like his niece, doesn’t seem to want to take no for an answer." You got it. I wonder what JJ's next move is going to be. Also, will Blanca give Martina her wish for a grandchild? Sure is looking that way.

waterlily, yes, I came up with my doldrum theory a few years back when I realized there was s certain point in a novela in the last quarter (?) where things just seem to stall for way too long for my taste. I was hoping that wouldn't happen here since we are so very close to the end. Oh, well, sometime you just have to wade through it. "I'm glad Ignacio and Fernando talked. It's strangely satisfying they are alike. Fernando made me laugh with his 'you can't move so I'll take advantage of this'. " With them being so similar, I wonder what their father's personality was like. Martina says that Fernando was totally an Iturbide. "Rogelio seemed surprised Lucas knows what he wants at a young age. Is it because Rogelio didn't? " I am thinking that maybe it was just expected that Rogelio would be involved in/take over the business even before his father's death. He might have even been all right with that to help his mother out. It is a rather recent occurrence in human history that people expect to like their job. Even when I was growing up, a job was a way to pay the bills. If you liked it, that was a bonus.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, once it becomes common knowledge Imelda has flown the Iturbide coop, I can see JJ flying in like a vulture. That said, I don't think Imelda has the slightest interest. Famous last words??

I am a bit confused on the what Eva is hiding storyline. I have a sense of foreboding though. I hope I'm wrong...We already know there will be no happy ending for Martina. Enough is enough.

waterlily, like Jarifa I really enjoyed "I'm glad Ignacio and Fernando talked. It's strangely satisfying they are alike". So very true.

I'd like to see Chuy again. He's such a sweetheart...

Minas

What an(other) annoying episode! I'll have the recap up later today or tomorrow.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, I have a feeling once JJ learns Imelda has flown the Iturbide coop, he will swoop in like a vulture. I don’t think Imelda has any interest though. Famous last words?? 😊

Waterlily, like Jarifa, I enjoyed “I'm glad Ignacio and Fernando talked. It's strangely satisfying they are alike”. Well said!

I’m not sure what is going to happen with the whatever is Eva hiding storyline but with Martina’s sad storyline, I hope it’s nothing dire. Enough is enough.

Will we get to see Chuy again?? I hope so; one of the sweetest characters here.

Eternamente #105

Great work, Jarifa. This episode must have been challenging.

I started wondering whether Rogelio's strange feelings were a premonition of Martina's diagnosis and possible death, but mid-life crisis makes sense. He probably lived under the expectation of running the family business and didn't have opportunity -- or allow himself -- to want something else for himself. However, he delayed marriage and parenthood and then met Paula who did not fit the stereotype wife of those of their "class". She is the gateway to this situation and whatever will follow.

Fernando was right about at least one thing: Nothing was ever enough for Imelda. I still have difficulty believing she changed from what she was when we first "met" her. He is still too much of a hothead to be a good CEO, so maybe Veronica can recommend a good shrink for him.

The scene between Martina and Gabriel was intense. It made me wonder how many Alzheimer's patients make Martina's decision and how many of their families and love interests fight it. Gabriel's determination to care for her is evidence of the love they were not allowed to have with each other. How many people in this world are robbed of this as they were?

What I don't like is the possibility that Blanca is pregnant when she and Marco had decided to be child-free. That she is abnormally tired is the signpost.

Tierra

I just finished watching last night's episode but my notes are too long to type before leaving for the opera. This may not be up before tomorrow morning. My apologies.

Eternamente

Super recap, Jarifa. Every scene was pivotal last night. Thanks for all the detailing.

Kudos to Micaela for telling Gabriel. He is a true galan and will be there for Martina, no matter what. Seeing them united again was my favorite scene.

Ack, I figured Blanca and Marco would eventually change their minds about having kids, but this is too soon. I hope this is a false alarm.

Well, every TN must have some fisticuffs. And Fernando is here to supply the need. Silly me thought he might just observe to see what Imelda would do. But nope, he goes in fist first.

Eva, the time has come to tell Paula. You are always tough with Fidel when he flounders. Get tough with your ownself and fess up.

Hey, whatever happened to the dog? Is he still in the show? Or did he serve his purpose and leave, like Violeta and Olimpia?

Eternamente

Thank you Jarifa for all your wonderful recaps! They enlighten, they entertain, they keep you up to date when you are out of town! I am finally back home and I actually watched this episode!

The scenes with Martina and Gabriel were heartbreaking but sweet. I am glad she told the boys the truth. They should enjoy the time they have before the disease worsens.

Eva’s reaction was telling but Paula’s question was weird too, she basically said ‘I have the vision of some random woman who wasn’t you or my mom from when I was five, do you know who that was?’ Under normal circumstances that could be anyone!!! A nurse, school teacher, daycare worker, lady at the store, etc etc etc. How and why would Eva know???

It certainly seems like symptoms of pregnancy for Blanca. I guess everyone has to have a baby on this show.

Tierra

Thank you Urban! I haven’t watched yet but I will catch up this weekend! We are getting close to the end. It’s nice to read that Vale and MT are going forward and bonding despite Santos. It’s undoubtedly hard but they have two good hearted and kind women. I still think the overall relationship between these two women throughout the show has been a refreshing break from the telenovela norm!!

Eternamente

Jarifa, you are amazing , and I am so appreciative of your detailed recaps. It will be interesting to see how the writers decided to end these storylines .

Niecie, yes, the little dog seems to have disappeared along with Violeta and Olympia.

Does Imelda ever smile?....The smirks do not count.

I have pretty much had it with these people and am ready and willing to move onto new people with new problemos. Sorry. I am a little cranky today . : ( Next!

Eva has always annoyed me. I am currently watching her in reruns of " Por Ella Soy Eva" , and her exaggerated mannerisms are annoying me in that show, too.

Yup, Blanca is pregnant . It must have Been that spontaneous time Marco interrupted her studying . That first trimester, all you want to do is sleep. Will we ever again see this many babies popping up in one show ?

Gabriel will stay by Martina 's side to the end. Unless soulmates die together, one is left behind to hurt and grieve. My sweet mother in law got a bit confused at the end , but her husband had passed away several years before . She did have her children and their spouses and grandchildren by her side. It was sad.

Diana, your words always warm my heart.

eternamente
Thanks, everyone, for reminding me About Blanca andtheir 'no kids' decision going straight into the bin. I think the most frustrating thing for me is that this show had things like therapy sessions, which I have never seen before. So I thought they'd follow this modern trend, but no. Why add a baby just to drag out the show that is about to end? Isn't it enough with Rogelio and midlife crisis, Eva's secret and Martina's illness? Feels like such a cheap move.
What I wonder is how many men stay with their wives if they have this illness. I hear way too often that men abandon their wives when they fall ill or something else happens. I know it's tragic they were robbed of their chance to be together, but I still keep thinkiing Martina is lucky Gabriel still loves her. She was not a nice person when he met her again. I'm completely baffled as to how he ended up with his first wife, who was insufferable. Does he like tourmenting himself by being with difficult or nearly insufferable women?

ETERNAMWNTE

Diana, "Will we get to see Chuy again?? I hope so; one of the sweetest characters here." So funny but I think your question goes along with Niecie's "Hey, whatever happened to the dog? Is he still in the show? Or did he serve his purpose and leave, like Violeta and Olimpia?" It would be nice to see these characters existing if nowhere else except in the background.

Thanks, Urban. Yes, this episode was challenging because most scenes contained too much info but it is better than it being boring.
I liked your detailed analysis of Rogelio and that his marriage to Paula has afforded him an escape hatch of sorts.

Niecie, great advice for Eva."Eva, the time has come to tell Paula. You are always tough with Fidel when he flounders. Get tough with your ownself and fess up." How bad is what she is hiding that she is doing everything not to tell Paula the truth about her past. It is getting weird.

Darcy, welcome home! Interesting opinion about Paula's question. "Under normal circumstances that could be anyone!!! A nurse, school teacher, daycare worker, lady at the store, etc etc etc. How and why would Eva know???" Exactly. That was how many years ago? "It certainly seems like symptoms of pregnancy for Blanca. I guess everyone has to have a baby on this show." I think Blanca is the last woman of child-bearing age to get pregnant except for Andrea and Violeta but they are both minor characters.

Susan, I have been watching PESE, too, if I am home at that time. That was my first novela and I have seen it a couple of times since then and it always makes me laugh. I remember Delilah Polanco from there, too. Yup, "Blanca is pregnant . It must have Been that spontaneous time Marco interrupted her studying." That wouldn't surprise me. There seems there has been many "spontaneous times" lately and no birth control is 100% effect. Somebody somehow has to get pregnant if it is 99.99999% (or lower) effective and not 100%. I wonder what their reaction will be if we are right.

OT.. Jarifa, Marcelo Cordoba is so handsome and so bad in PESE. I get a kick out Jaime as Ella.

OT

Susan, yes! I hav always thought that Marcelo Córdoba was a cutie. We never have seen enough of him IMHO. Yes, Camil was so good as Eva and now ten years later I am watching him on Lotería Loca!

Eternamente

Thanks Jarifa, another excellent recap. So much happens in these episodes. It’s hard to keep up with everything.

It looks like we all agree that Blanca is pregnant and Rogelio is going to buy the restaurant. Since Ignacio and Fernando get along so well they can run the family business. If that happens I will be a little upset that he got away with all the things he did to ruin their business.

J.J was definitely trying to have an evening with Imelda. He did not want her to leave. They need to buy back his partnership. And I guess that’s why Violeta is the way she is. Also, I doubt he would have offered Imelda a job if he wasn’t attracted to her. She and Fernando have not matured at all.

I guess the next big drama will be Paula learning Eva and her history. I hope Rogelio will be there for her.

Another character we don’t see anymore is the sister-in-law/aunt. Is she part of her granddaughter’s life now!

Liz

ETERNAMENTE

Liz you better believe it is hard for me to keep everything straight, too. "J.J was definitely trying to have an evening with Imelda. He did not want her to leave." "Also, I doubt he would have offered Imelda a job if he wasn’t attracted to her." You got it. Why did he grab her by the arms to get her to stay? That was not appropriate. Then the way that JJ told the tale to Rogelio it made it sound like the clients were leaving just when Imelda was arriving. Don't think so. We saw nobody and there were only two glasses of wine on the table: one for JJ and one for Imelda. Now that Imelda is getting a divorce, will that embolden JJ? Thanks for your reminding us about Olimpia whose stay was rather entertaining but short! I guess we can have her doing whatever we want her to now that she is gone. Entertaining her granddaughter sounds good to me. These novelas are a hoot.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/20/23
Episode 58: Part 1 of 3

Norma and Remedios denounced Adriana to Trejo. He told them that an actual victim needed to testify. They also told him about Grim. They were sufficiently adamant that he opened a file and they agreed to bring Susi.

The workers welcomed Valentina as their new boss.

Adriana and Irasema lounged by the pool and tried to figure out how Remedios knew what she knew. Adriana said they needed to find Susi and turn her over to Grim. [No hint of conscience in her whatsoever.]

Valentina asked Maria Teresa what their father was like with her after her mother's death. She replied that he had been there for her for the birthdays, school things, etc. When she needed to learn about female things Nani was there for her. This matched the impression Valentina had of him, that he had been a good father.

Remedios enlisted Cris' help to get Susi to make a statement before Trejo.

Maria Teresa and Valentina talked about Esteban's learning curve and how parenting is like that. How Maria Teresa hesitated to introduce her father to her first novio, etc. Valentina talked about her mother's difficulty with the idea of her having a novio but aside from that Bernarda was an excellent mother.

Marco arrived as Bernarda removed her leather apron and became irritated with his stubbornness. She called him a coward for his failure to stand up to his father back in the day. He rhetorically asked why they were going on like this and said it was because they were madly in love with each other. [Sounds more like obsession.]

More sister bonding for Maria Teresa and Valentina.

Marco tried to force himself on Bernarda who fought him off. He threatened her with a pitchfork. She ordered him off or she would shoot him. He finally left.

Trejo told Rut that a female escapee was going to denounce Grim and Adriana about the brothel. Rut seemed shocked at her name coming up.

Marco told the Jackal they could not return to La Esperanza because Valentina is now involved in its management. They had to make sure everything would fail. He was also sure that Santos would return and he needed to know all about that. He sent the Jackal to Pepe with a message to report back on everything.

Upon hearing that a witness was denouncing Grim Rut said he was taking this case over. He told Trejo to concentrate on Esteban's murder. He then began trying to make a case for Bernarda as the killer. Trejo looked distracted for a few seconds but agreed to look into it.

Clemente gave Bernarda some medical brochures, telling her that while there was some risk Regina's life would not be in danger. All he wanted was for her to be happy. Valentina assured him that she and her mother would be able to pay the bills.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/20/23
Episode 58: Part 2 of 3

Cris convinced Susi to let him take her to the police station [The music convinced me this would not lead anywhere safe]. Sure enough after the title music they were spotted by the Jackal.

Santos told Remedios about getting the house and that Valentina and Maria Teresa were working together. This was what he wanted to happen and he would still keep his distance from them.

The Jackal approached and Susi ran. The Jackal punched Cris, leaving him bloody and ran with his underling after Susi.

Remedios told Santos about Rut and Adriana; nothing surprised him about this. However she noticed he looked like he was contemplating action and she advised him not to. She declined his offer to escort her and Susi into town.

Maria Teresa placed flowers on her father's grave, thanked him for Valentina, and promised to do good.

The Jackal's underling came back; Susi had escaped again. The Jackal yelled at him and they went off in the other direction. The Jackal's shirt was bloodstained.

Santos told Remedios that Regina could testify against Adriana and just as Remedios said she would talk to Bernarda Susi ran in and told them the Jackal was beating up Cris. Santos ran out.

Clemente told Norma about Regina and Bernarda Norma agreed that love can move mountains. She told him about Adriana.

Santos found Cris. He was unconscious.

Trejo spoke to Maria Teresa about Bernarda and her possible motive. Maria Teresa said this was absurd but agreed to let him talk to her saying that this would end badly if he was looking for anything bad on her property.

Susi was upset and blamed herself. Santos came back with Cris slung over his shoulder. Remedios told him not to go after the Jackal because she needed his help.

Bernarda and her daughters were talking about the surgery when Maria Teresa and Trejo arrived. When he explained why he was there they were incredulous but Bernarda agreed to talk to him. She was to go to the police station. She agreed and he left. Maria Teresa told her she considered the suspicion absurd. [Did Trejo notice Regina?]

That night Rut came on to Adriana, then began asking questions about Grim. She claimed there was nothing between them and started playing to Rut's greedy ego.

Cris lay on the love seat still out like a light. Remedios said he would be alright but in pain. They had cleaned him up and bandaged him around the ribs.

Tierra de Esperanza 10/20/23
Episode 58: Part 3 of 3

Rut suggested they go to her room but she did not want Marco to know about them. He suggested buying a house for her but she said No, she had La Soledad but Marco is left over. All she wanted was protection and help. [I think we can smell what she really wants from him.]

Regina found a scroll on her window. It was Clemente's drawing of flowers that look designed for the top of a Corinthian column.

The Jackal told Mario what happened. Marco was livid as he had not ordered this. He ordered him out and to advise him if Santos appeared.

Bernarda was a little nervous about the next day because she was aware of corruption but Regina said it would be alright. She told the girls – in case she was locked up like Santos – that she loved them absolutely. Valentina told her she was a great mother.,etc. Regina said she would go to the police station. Bernarda told her she was proud of her and wished she could go back in time and not be so controlling. They joined hands.

The next morning the girls brought Bernarda her breakfast as she dressed for her meeting. Love, etc.

Santos told Maria Teresa what happened to Cris and why.

More family affection in Bernarda's home.

Maria Teresa told Santos to not lose his cool. She intended to talk to Marco, but Santos told her he was just as dangerous as his men. They left together.

Bernarda left the house after Valentina told her Rut would have to deal with her if he invented anything. They hugged. More words of appreciation to each other and Valentina walked away to work, waving to them.

Thanks, Urban, the bad guys are going down! The Jackal beating up Chris was awful but Chris and Susie both know he did it so hopefully he’ll be arrested.

So Rut apparently didn’t know that Adriana was in on the trafficking. I wonder if that will make him suspicious of her. I guess that’s why he questioned her about a past with Grim.

I like Trejo but at the beginning of the show I thought he was working with Rut. A couple of times he’d get a big roll of money from Rut and stick it in his desk.
But since Rut doesn’t want him working the case where Rut is guilty I guess it wasn’t the case. I still can’t guess who the murderer is. Bringing Bernarda in for questioning makes them all look like a bunch of clowns. That makes me think it’s Rut as he’s determined to lock someone up.

I record the episodes and I looked at the place in recording that shows what you are having recorded. It shows about a week and a half ahead and Tierra is recording through next Friday but not the following Monday. So I think 5 episodes.

TIERRA

Urban, thank you for the excellent recap.

The sweet, genuine bonding between Valentina and Maria Teresa was lovely.

The recent terseness between Valentina and Bernarda seemed mercifully to have ended. Finally, some touching admittances and sentiments: “Valentina told her she was a great mother” then “ Bernarda told her she was proud of her and wished she could go back in time and not be so controlling”. And yet as Bernarda and Regina stood at the top of the stairs beaming down on a smiling Valentina who “walked away…waving to them”, I felt a strange foreboding.

Bernarda again berates Marco for his cowardice; but she doesn’t know the half of it does she?

“Did Trejo notice Regina?]” He didn’t seem to Urban. I remember Trejo was very emotional when Clemente gave him the picture of Regina but I’m afraid I’m lost on what their relationship is/was.

The Jackal is a monster.

Rut should shortly realize who and what Adriana is. If he hasn’t already.

Maria Teresa has been warned about Marco. Did it come too late??

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 37 - Viernes, 20 de Octubre, 2023

"Annoying" is Leo's middle name - Part 1/2

This episode was so annoying I had to FF--> half the scenes.

Seb hides under Emi's hospital bed and records a conversation between two nurses and the doctora about the uh, "treatment" they use. After they leave, Seb is being his cute self, being by Emi's side.

Leo on the other hand, just argues with his mother, who insists Emi is a murderer yada yada. Leo just denies it while Roberta sobs and says she wants to change. Leo hugs her and she smiles behind his back. Joaquina of course sees this.

No one cares about stupid Míriam and stupider Addled so I'll just say he lies, again, about marrying Míriam.

Berta is still at Zaira's and tells her about Addled having a lover and the lover living in their house (uh, you invited her, but ok). They call each other "hermana" (sister), are they really or is it some sort of friendly slang-ish thing? I think they say that Berta didn't defend Zaira or something? I'm confused.

A (male) nurse sees Seb, they get into a fight and Seb loses his phone with the recording. At least he runs away. The other patient, who btw IS played by Karyme Lozano, helps him escape and tells him she's not crazy, her husband locked her up in here.

The doctora tells Fidel his wife was been more active (I think) recently, but he shouldn't worry, everything is under control.

The other patient, which is Aleida, talks to an asleep Emi. She says she's stronger than her and she has to fight for her son.

Seb tells Leo everything that happened in the psychiatric hospital, including the recording he lost, in which Rob was mentioned. Leo says he is trying to transfer Emi to another hospital (... What am I supposed to say here?) and Seb screams that doesn't solve anything and at least HE is actually trying to get Emi out. Leo then, in probably the most infuriating moment of the episode, says they can do nothing, even though they know she's innocent, because she was condemned and that's that. Aaand he would have left for the capital if it wasn't for the others miners. Oh and he gets mad at Seb for getting a recording with illegal ways. Seb tells him to stop talking about the law and says he'll get Emi out and he (Leo) will never see her again. He leaves. Go Seb!

Rob visits Emi and shows her a picture of Nico to taunt her. They also talk about Ignacio and Rob reveals that she "helped him get out of his misery", aka killed him. Oh and she killed his previous wife too! Emi screams that she's a maldita loca and that she's a killer. Did I mention that Rob was smiling and at one point said she liked seeing Emi suffer?

Badass Zaira threatens Addled; if he doesn't release Emi, she'll tell the whole town about his mistress. Say bye-bye to your political career! Addled tells her to get out and she does, but she repeats her threat before she does.

Roberta keeps saying Emi will never see Nico again. She also adds that she was good and stupid like her once and she sacrificed herself for someone, but all the mistreatment and the abuse turned her into the person she is today. She says, again, about Emi going to hell soon and leaves as Emi screams "maldita asesina".

Fidel has payed a visit to his wife, Aleida, the other patient. From what I understood Fidel told Orlando his mom left them for another man. Now he thinks she's dead, Fidel adds that he took him to see "her" grave. Aleida attacks him, but she's too weak. He forces her to sign some papers so he gets the house her parents left her.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 37 - Viernes, 20 de Octubre, 2023

"Annoying" is Leo's middle name - Part 2/2

Leo is with Sara. Sorry, but I can't see his "poor me" face when he has done nothing but whine FF-->

Gael convinces his parents to let him go see Nico.

Emi tries to convince a good nurse to let her see her son. The nurse says she could lose her job, but Emi says at least she will go home and see her kids after work, she doesn't have that benefit anymore. The nurse looks like she's sincerely sad. I have hopes.

Later, Emi and Aleida are outside. Aleida tells her her husband locked her up in here. Emi says in her case, it was Roberta Castro and mentions Fidel Roldán being her lover. Aleida, shocked, says Fidel is her husband. Emi is also shocked. Aleida adds that he forced her to give him her house. They both agree their kids need them. Danilo, who had been listening I guess, says he can help them escape. (Hm. I wonder why he's listed as an evil character. Addled deserved getting scammed tbh.)

Berta goes to Orlando's house, but it is Jenny who opens the door. She has roses all over the place, so Berta asks her "You're in a relationship with Orlando?" Jenny's face is priceless.

There's a huge fire in the mental hospital. Emi begs the people who are trying to flee to get her out of here, to open the door, but no one does. No one except Danilo, who opens it. A character who has had 10 minutes of screen time is behaving more galán-ish than the galán. That's saying something. He tells her to leave when she spots Aleida on the floor. She's passed out, but alive. She doesn't leave, she insists they have to take her too. Danilo doesn't want to but Emi insists, so they drag her.

Roberta, who's outside with Ezequiel the cop, smiles before they leave. Oh and she says she wants to hear Emilia Sánchez scream of course.

Leo arrives. He sees the fire and tries to open the door to save the people, but when he sees there will be an explosion, he... Runs away. I'm so mad, I can't-

Emi, Aleida and Danilo fall to the ground from a small explosion in the hospital.

And with fire, smoke and screams, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

Tierra #58

Valentina's exit at the end of the latest episode definitely -- after all the bonding with her family -- has that sense of foreboding, knowing we're near the end of this saga. This is a cliche of this network's productions just as it would be in opera.

Rut will feel like a prize fool when he gets more of the dirt on Adriana who has no qualms whatsoever about preying upon vulnerable young women. Susi may not be a virgin but Regina is and both deserve happy lives. Something Adriana never had or will have.

The drawing of Vanessa looked a lot like Regina. Could she have been pregnant when her parents forced the end of her relationship with Martin Trejo? Of course he would not have known. This could be a mirror to Esteban/Bernarda, which is something else this network does.

Minas
Leo with his 'we have to do this the lawful way' speech made me want to slap him. It's quite something when another man tells the galan 'you won't see her again' and I'm like' I hope that's true'.
Zair complained Addled's wife didn't defend her when all those women were throwing stones at her. But was she even there? I can't remember.
Fidel told his wife that if she doesn't sign the papers, her son will go to prison. But for what exactly? I know F is shady, but what is Orlando supposed to have done.
If it's Leo who finds E somehow, I'll be mad because I actually don't want them to be together. How am I supposed to like him? Like, what has he done to deserve to be liked? They made him weak and useless when they should have done the opposite. If in the original the galan didn't believe the protagonista when she told him his mum is a criminal and so on, why keep it when things and attitudes were different even back then? They have a remake, but add even more stupidity? Was the 'second best' guy in the original as cool as Sebas is? It was funny that Leo got so irritated Sebas got into that hospital through illegal means and was like 'this won't stand in court', when his 'legal' ways aren't helping either. Getting E transfered to another hospital so they could keep injecting her with meds? I mean, there's no way they'd just leave her be when her diagnosis is like this. Does Leo have any idea what so much meds could do to her? I'm no doctor, but surely it's no good giving a person meds they don't need. Nice idea.
So Mariana died in the fire? Poor woman.

Urban, thank you...I thought the drawing WAS Regina, hence my confusion.

OK so that was Trejo's wife or love of his life? She is a mirror image so...I would be happy if that was true.

Waterlily, I am as frustrated as you are.

In the original (I call La Patrona the original; it technically wasn't but I call it so because Uni specified it's a remake of La Patrona) the galán had a worse relationship with his mother. It was kind of like the opposite of this version; he was the one who couldn't stand her. He tried to talk to the protagonista and I'm pretty sure he didn't believe his mother. But I think he bought the fact that the prota was crazy - although that's a bit justified because she was behaving crazy-like in front of him and even harmed him one time because of the medication she had been given.
Oh and Seb in the original had much, MUCH less screen time. He was someone who liked the prota, but he wasn't in the picture for a long time. We didn't really have a second galán to compete with the actual one.

MINAS

Weirdo, your wise words, astute observations and gentle wit were the perfect antidote for this utterly gruesome episode.

Watching Leo muttering about having Emilia transferred rather than racing to save her was confounding. His caring more about staying within the confines of the law rather than getting the supposed love of his life out of danger was unfathomable.

More verbal torture from Roberta and admissions of murdering Ignacio and his wife. And yet her hideous soul decides that is not enough and orders the manicomio to turn into a blazing inferno. Hearing the anguished screams of the innocents, hands furiously beating against the glass begging to get out was horrifying.

Adding insult to injury, “Leo arrives. He sees the fire and tries to open the door to save the people, but when he sees there will be an explosion, he... Runs away”. I could not believe what I was seeing!

Our waiting in the wings galan Sebas showed what true love is. Unwavering courage, unfailing devotion were evident at every turn. “Was the ‘second best’ guy in the original as cool as Sebas is” I wonder waterlily, but somehow I doubt it! 😊

Who is dashing Danilo, the wild card, the mystery? Watching him manage to open that seemingly impregnable door was astonishing. Saving Emilia and Aleida was heroic. “A character who has had 10 minutes of screen time is behaving more galán-ish than the galán” was absolutely true.

Susan, when you speculated a few days ago that Aleida was Karyme Lozano I thought to myself that there was no way that character was the beautiful actress I remembered. You called it and were absolutely right! Excellent!
.
“No one cares about stupid Míriam and stupider Addled” is right Weirdo.

Such tragic carnage. All in the name of hatred.

Weirdo , thank you for an excellent recap of a frustrating, confusing episode .

So...Seb wants action and Leo in his ever present sports jacket wants to go about things legally . ...while dealing a demented woman , his mother . As Roberto pulled him to the floor to embrace Leo, he groaned...so did I. Roberto and I were both smirking . What are the writers doing to Leo?

I have no idea why Danilo got himself committed to the manicomia. Did he do it to hide from Addled , or did Sara ask him to go there? ? If it was Sara's idea, did she want him to to help Em or kill her ? We saw Addled talk about Danilo. Then Sara called Danilo. Then, Danilo talked to some guy . Then, Danilo and his " parents" were being interviewed by the evil doctora.

Is Danilo now the hero? Will he and Em and Fidel's wife disappear together ?

Thank you Urban! You painted such a warm picture of the family reconciliation! Man, I hope Valentina doesn’t die!!! She’s my favorite and what a cop out way to end the sisters in love with the same man problem!! It does feel like foreboding though.

I do think Trejo was in on some of the corruption in the beginning but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is down for anything. Just because he’s willing to cut some corners and say illegally import some goods into the US, doesn’t mean he would be okay with covering up a murder, or trafficking women, sending innocent men to jail, etc etc. He also has an obviously growing affection for Clemente and he would not want to disappoint him either. Maybe Trejo is a petty theft/cop with standards, lol

I am just finishing catching up with watching and it hit me that Marco’s dad was opposed to Bernarda because she was low class and not ‘good enough’ for Marco but daddy married Adriana!!! Lol I wonder if he knew who her past? Do we know?

I think that Trejo was OK with smuggling alcohol but trafficking unwilling sex slaves is a line he won't cross. It's also possible that he knew little or nothing of the sex trade in their area and Rut said as little as possible about it to him.

When Trejo realizes who Rut really is he will take him down.

Minas + Minas OG details

Okay, I finally have some time. I was planning to answer to Diana and Susan's comments yesterday, but I didn't have time until now.

Diana, ITA about Leo. I hope something happens and Emi doesn't end up with him, but I seriously doubt it. Why are all the galanes so annoying nowadays?

Susan, great questions about Danilo. I'm also wondering... "What are the writers doing to Leo?" I'm genuinely confused. Why ruin a good galán?

There was no exact counterpart for Sebas in the original.

The OG Danilo, who was listed as a good character btw, unlike in this one, was sent to prison by the OG Addled, who found out he had been scammed and uh, didn't take it too well. To escape, he pretended he was crazy (I don't think I'll ever forget the scene in which he ATE cockroaches) and was sent to the asylum because he thought it was easier to escape from. He was right.

Oh, and fun fact the OG patrona didn't order the place to be burnt down. There was a patient who was a pyromaniac and set fire to the building. Aaand this happened YEARS after the OG Emi's admission to the hospital. She had pretended she was crazy at one point on purpose, but lost it when the doctora slapped her brother, who came to see her (he was older than Gael). There was also an EPIC scene with the OG Emi (Gabriela) and the OG Sara (Irene). Irene had come to see Gabriela to tell her she got married to Alejandro (the OG Leo) and she threw her wedding dress on her to taunt her. Gabriela then attacked her (and we were all rooting for her). That wedding dress played its part later on. I was expecting the same here, too bad they cut out that scene.

I'm starting to dislike how this one is turning out.

OT

A remake of Juana la Virgen is coming to Uni after Maleficio, according to Telenovela Database Wikia. (And I just realized this has been remade in my country too, just like Si Yo Fuera Rico).

OT....Weirdo, thank you for the info on Minas and the new shows .

So, in the OG , there was no Seb , so the Leo character had no competitor for the Em character ? I can't wait to see what happens tonight ? Where are they going ? Will Em, Danilo, and Fidel's wife stick together and help each other survive ? Where will they go?

OT...Just read that Daniel Elbittar will be with some familiar people in "Amor Tiene no Receta." His children from " Invencib!e" Anaju and Oliver are also in this show !!

MINAS

Weirdo, I don't think I've seen the original in anything I've watched over the past 15 years that I've been here.

I would imagine it's hard comparing one version to the next. There will inevitably be things from the first you prefer and some in the remake. So, in the original, Em was held prisoner for years before the fire?? I'm thankful that didn't happen here. Roberta is so insidiously evil, I'm not surprised the fire was started on her orders in this one. Sara doesn't seem as horrible as to pull the wedding dress stunt in this one but she hasn't been Snow White either.

Susan, I'm shocked there was no Seb in the original either. I'm fascinated with Danilo...he's aready saved two lives at the risk of danger and harm to himself. Isn't that enough to rescue him from villain territory?? :)
