Quote for Turkish ep #52: "All that I left behind is ashes. I was the fire!" - Friedrich Nietzsche
Ridvan and Ozge try to keep Derya calm.
Merdan arrives at the hospital on foot. A cop car arrives at the same time and calls out to him. He insists on seeing Metin. Cops grab him and drag him away. Merdan pleads, at least tell me if he’s alive!
Cinar runs through the hospital hallway searching for his dad. Metin is in a room, surrounded by Ilgaz, Eren and Ceylin. Cinar rushes to kiss his father’s hand. Şükürler olsun! I was so scared! Metin says he’s fine. Cinar cries. Eren goes to check on Pars. [Yay, Pars survived! Why doesn’t anyone tell Derya?]
Derya is getting checked by a nurse. Her BP is elevated. She turns down a sedative. All she wants to know is how Pars is doing. Thank goodness Eren comes in and says they can go see Pars.
A doctor examines Pars and tells him this could set off an epileptic episode. Other than that, he’s okay. Pars asks about the others. The doc says they are doing well.
Derya rushes to Pars’s side. Thank God! Are you alright? Pars says he’s okay, and he asks what happened to her arm. She tells him it’s a dislocated shoulder. She’s more concerned about him. Pars says it’s just a couple of scratches, it’s nothing. Others are standing at the door and Pars tells them to come in. Eren is happy to see his friend is fine. Ridvan and Ozge also enter and give him get well wishes. The doc says Pars will be discharged after his IV is done.
I was so scared something would happen to you, Derya says. Didn’t you hear the doctor, Pars replies, I’m fine. If you asked me to run, I’d run all the way to the station. Well, I can’t really run, but I’d walk.
Ceylin and Ilgaz come to see Pars. Ilgaz apologizes to Pars. This means we need to be more careful. You were right. A press release about the threat wasn’t enough. If anything happened to you because of me… Pars interrupts, don’t blame yourself. We’re not the sort to give into such threats. That’s not who we are. Pars asks about Metin. He’s recovering, Ilgaz replies, thankfully, we suffered no casualties. Eren and I will go back to the station. Pars tells them he will join them later. Derya raises an objection.
Ceylin asks Derya if the doctor examined her again. Pars is concerned and asks why. Is it something other than your shoulder? It’s nothing, Derya answers while shooting a shut up look at Ceylin. The doctor prescribed a painkiller and I’m fine.
Ceylin smooths it over, let everyone get well soon. We’ve been through a lot today. Ilgaz, Eren and Ceylin head out. Pars comments on Ridvan’s pursed lips. Ridvan is a bit emotional and replies, I… I was scared for you. Don’t be, Pars replies with a smile, I’m still here.
Ilgaz, Eren and Ceylin go back to Metin’s room. Ilgaz asks a doctor if there have been any changes with the injured. The doc says all are doing okay. Metin assures Ilgaz that he is doing well. Ilgaz asks Ceylin to stay at the hospital and keep him informed on any changes. He’s going back to the station with Eren.
There’s no way Ceylin is staying. She runs after the men. Wait, I’m coming with you. Cinar is here, he can let us know if anything happens. I’m your only witness. I was their point of contact. Aren’t I, Eren Komiser? Ilgaz replies, you don’t have to stay here, but you’re not going to the station. Why don’t you want me to go, she asks, don’t you want to hear what I have to say? Ilgaz asks Eren to take Ceylin’s phone.
What does that mean, Ceylin asks. I know what you’re plotting, Ilgaz replies. Ceylin figures, you think I’m staying close because I’m scared and don’t want to leave your side? I’m not doing this to be close to you. Now I can join you, and you can include me in the investigation… or my phone and I will stay in this hospital. You decide. Ilgaz huffs and puffs.
Eren tells Ilgaz his car is being examined. Forensics is following instructions. The Antiterrorism Unit is hard at work. Ilgaz wants to stop at a pharmacy. He fills a prescription for sedatives. I’ll assume they are the same kind that Sultan uses.
Ridvan brings coffee to Ozge. There’s an extra one. He got it for Pars and says, I bet he hasn’t had coffee since this morning. Ozge says that’s crazy. He just woke up. He’s not well. And you got him a double. Ridvan jumps up. I can’t buy him coffee? I don’t know what to do! What should I do?
Ozge tells Ridvan to sit and relax. I knew you cared about AG Pars, but I didn’t know you cared this much. You want to see him, don’t you? You’re still in shock. Ridvan says he was very scared—he’s like a second father to me.
Ogze seizes the opportunity. Speaking of your father… I thought you were going to bring your father so we could meet. Ridvan gives her a look. She continues, but there’s no point in that if things aren’t serious yet. Ridvan is nodding. She talks to herself—Ozge, you make it sound like he already proposed. Ridvan tells her that’s enough. The opportunity hasn’t presented itself. Can’t you see a bomb went off nearby? We should wait.
Ilgaz, Ceylin and Eren return to the station. There are a lot of cops, armed soldiers and a lot of reporters. Tugce runs up to her dad and gives him a big hug. Where the hell were you? I was so scared! I called you ten times, and you didn’t answer! He starts to explain, with all that happened… Tugce says he should have called or texted. You’re not on your own anymore, I love and worry about you. Eren is sorry.
The reporters crowd around Ilgaz. Do you have updates? Rafet helps move the reporters aside so Ilgaz can get through. Rafet asks about Pars and Metin. He tells Ilgaz that the building remains open according to his instructions. We evacuated everyone and the teams are hard at work. They are working on the windows. The local head of the Antiterrorism Unit took over. Do we have updates, Ilgaz asks. Not yet, Rafet replies, we are examining the device, we’ll know more soon.
The Erguvans are watching the news reports. Gul calls Ceylin to get information. No answer. They decide to go to the hospital. Maybe the officers outside have some information. The cops heard the news and agree to take them to the hospital.
That seed eating lurker guy is outside the station.
Ilgaz gives his locker room speech to the team at the station. There’s fear. Our families are scared. Thankfully, there were no casualties. Our friends will recover. We will all work hard to find those responsible for this attack. And we will find them! Okay? I’m sure of it. Something or someone is obviously behind the murder of the bride, and they don’t want us to find the killer. But we’ll do whatever it takes to find the murderer. Understand? Understood!
Umut has an update on the vehicle used to move the bride’s body. It has Yavuz’s (guessing that’s the fugitive) fingerprints. There’s nothing else. We couldn’t find signs of anyone else driving it. IT is still going over footage and social media. But they confirmed that the bride’s father and brother didn’t exit the venue until 20 minutes after the bride’s disappearance.
Ilgaz asks, did the groom and his family leave the venue? Umut says they are still looking. Ilgaz asks if the groom is here. Eren says, they were meeting with a lawyer, but we’ll get them here, even by force. Ilgaz asks if the bride’s family is here. They were evacuated after the explosion. Ilgaz wants to question the bride’s brother again.
Ceylin calls Tolga. He’s just dropped Ferda’s family off at home. She tells him to bring the brother back to the station.
Ilgaz wonders why someone would plant a bomb. What secret is this death hiding? He asks Ceylin, the witness, do you have any ideas? How old was the man you spoke to? Could you tell by the sound of his voice? She says he’s probably in his 50s. Educated? Ceylin says he didn’t sound like a white collar worker, but he had a faint accent. I couldn’t tell what it was. All I can say is he was dramatic and serious.
There’s only one way to find the truth, Ilgaz says, we’ll find what they don’t want us to find—the murderer. Eren wants to review the footage. He goes to speak with IT.
Ceylin takes out a tissue and a water bottle. She tells Ilgaz he has dried blood on his neck. She wipes it off for him. Maybe you got it during the ambulance ride. She tells him, I was so scared. She adds, I mean, the place looked like a war zone. Before the explosion, your father and Pars were standing by the car. I was worried about them.
Eren returns, the footage is ready. Ilcey and Eren watch. Nothing of note at the station. Eren thinks the bomb was placed somewhere else. No one would dare do it at the station. He asks Ilgaz, were you home? [lol.] Let’s go over that footage. Ilgaz says his car was parked outside Ceylin’s office until this morning [while he was parking on the bed inside]. lol, the looks on everyone’s faces… especially Eren!
Yekta, Omer and the clients arrive at the station and view the damage. Hakki asks, are they still going to question us? Yekta says let’s see.
Eren notes he left Ceylin at Ilgaz’s house. She shushes him up—I’m watching the video. They watch the footage from Ceylin’s office and there’s the person placing the bomb under the car. Unfortunately, it’s too dark and the person is covered.
Umut comes to tell Ilgaz that Selim arrived. Ilgaz leaves and Eren stops Ceylin. He won’t let this pass… tell us the good news so we can all celebrate. She gives him a tap and says there isn’t any. Shut up!
Yekta is his usual annoying self. The place is a disaster, he says, my client can come back later. You’re probably working to catch the terrorist. Ilgaz replies, once we find the murderer (camera focuses on Selim), we’ll know who planted the bomb. They take Selim to interrogation.
Yekta has some words for Ceylin. Life can be so painful and scary and you can’t seem to catch a break. He laughs and goes. Ceylin tells herself to stay calm.
Ilgaz needs to stay calm, too. He goes to the bathroom to freshen up. Then he goes to a stall, takes out the sedatives he bought, and flushes all but one capsule down the toilet. He empties the contents of the last capsule into the toilet and puts the empty back in the bottle.
Metin is released from the hospital. He holds on to Cinar as they walk. They run into the Erguvans + Tugce. They are glad he’s doing well. Metin tells them they shouldn’t have troubled themselves to come. Gul says they needed to come and if he needs anything they will be there for him. Gul also asks about Pars.
Metin says he’s going home to rest. Tugce asks Cinar if he’s going to the pool hall. Nope, Cinar is staying home with his dad. They all go to their cars and there’s the lurker… did he finally run out of seeds?
Pars gets dressed to go back to work and Derya has objections. You should go home and rest, don’t go to work. Do it for me, if not for you. He’s irritated and calls her stubborn. A prosecutor was threatened, a bomb went off outside the station, and many innocent people were injured. And you want me to rest? Everyone is calling—the Governor, Minister of the Interior, the Justice Department. I said I’d return to work, and I was asked to notify them when I got to the office. I have to do a press conference. I can’t go home.
Pars calls out to Ridvan, is my spare suit in my office? Yes, Ridvan replies, it’s cleaned and pressed. Derya closes the door so she’s alone with Pars. Fine, she says, we’ll go back to work. Nothing happened. Nothing happened here. I accept it on one condition. You can’t leave your office, not for a second. Promise me.
Pars tries to talk and Derya shuts it down… I thought I lost you, Pars! Why can’t you understand that? She starts to cry. I was scared when I thought something happened to you. He pulls her into a hug. Don’t be scared, I’m here. It’s over now. You’re okay, we’re okay. I was so scared, she sobs. He calms her and they leave together.
Ilgaz turns to Ceylin and asks, is your goal to be around me in case they contact you? Well, yes, she replies, I want you to hear what they say. I wasn’t sure of the voice. She asks, may I hear the groom’s voice? Ilgaz says, I’d let you, but you have a POA (with the bride’s family). She stops him there. I don’t have one. I can’t because we’re not divorced yet. Tolga is their lawyer. Ilgaz answers, you’re always playing the angle that benefits you. She admits it, and it suits her. Besides, my goal is to support and advise Tolga. What if the groom is the culprit? Ilgaz silently gives in.
First thing Ilgaz does in the interrogation room is to take the bottle of sedatives out of his pocket and swallow a capsule, the only capsule, with water. The bottle is placed on the table for everyone to see. Geçmiş olsun, Yekta tells the DA. Omer keys in on this move. Ilgaz wastes no more time, he says to Selim—tell me why you killed her.
Selim’s eyes bug out. Yekta laughs, that’s quite a performance. Ilgaz snaps back, you can leave if you don’t like it. He asks Selim again, why did you kill her? I didn’t kill anyone, Selim replies, I found out she was killed after you spoke to the press. Why would I kill the woman I was going to marry? Because you didn’t love her, Ilgaz responds, you didn’t want to marry her, and you were forced into marriage. Is that good enough?
Yekta steps in, if you have any proof that Selim killed her, we’d like to hear it. If she didn’t commit suicide and she didn’t drown, then how did she die? Omer answers—she was drugged. Everyone is surprised and looks at Omer. He adds, that is… I assume so. Yekta gets back on track, if you have no evidence, you’re wasting your time.
Ilgaz asks Eren, is there anything the gentlemen should know? Yes, of course, Savcım. Ismet, the brother of the bride, had gambling debts. The debt was settled, and a wedding was planned. Did he owe you money, Ilgaz asks.
Yekta scoffs, don’t you think it’s odd we’re here arguing about my client’s debts while bombs go off outside? Maybe that’s why you should watch what you say, Ilgaz answers, you’re just here to witness how we question your client. You’re not here to defend him. I won’t warn you again.
Ilgaz asks Selim, did he owe you money? Yes, Selim says, we used to gamble. Eren asks where. At a café, Selim replies, between ourselves. How much did he owe you? 300,000. Ilgaz asks, what do you do for a living? Selim says he’s a security guard at a complex in Zekeriyakoy. I work with my father. So, you gamble with what you make as a security guard? Selim says he only gambles with Ismet.
Ilgaz notes that no expenses were spared at the wedding. Selim says he had some savings and his father helped with the rest. Ilgaz and Eren mock Selim. What a great guy he is! Yekta says as you can see, both families agreed to this. Is that so, Ilgaz replies, the bride is dead. Ilgaz tells Yekta and Selim to wait there. He turns to Eren, let’s go get some fresh air.
Selim asks Yekta where they went. Yekta tells him it’s a tactic. He turns to Omer, how did you know? Omer motions to the pill bottle.
Ilgaz asks Ceylin, who is that with Yekta? It’s Omer, Yekta’s son. That’s a shocker to Ilgaz and Eren. She explains that Omer is the illegitimate son who turned up years later. The DNA says so. Ilgaz doesn’t like him at all. Eren calls Omer a weasel. He asks Ilgaz, is it me or did he figure out the drug thing?
Our guys watch from behind the glass. Yekta is laughing and patting Omer. It’s not like Yekta. Why not, Eren asks, if that’s his son. Ceylin says that Yekta never showed any affection to Engin and constantly humiliated him. Eren can’t believe Yekta would be like this. Ceylin says she doesn’t know anything about Omer, but Yekta likes him.
Pars and Derya arrive at the courthouse. Reporters have questions. Pars says he’ll talk to the Governor first and then comment. People give their best wishes to Pars as he limps down the hallway. Ridvan nervously tells him the Governor, the Vice Secretary of Internal Affairs, and the Istanbul Chief of Police are waiting in his office.
Ceylin tells Ilgaz she loved the medication trick. It didn’t work, Ilgaz replies. Eren asks, what do we do? Ilgaz thinks Selim couldn’t make that much money in his line of work. He couldn’t afford such an extravagant wedding. He wants to review Selim and his family’s bank accounts.
Ismet arrives with Tolga. Ilgaz tells Ceylin she’ll have to wait outside.
Pars gets dressed and goes into his meeting. Derya asks Ridvan to call her as soon as Pars is finished and walks out the door.
Ceylin tells Tolga she rescheduled the mediation session. She sends Tolga into the room with Ismet. Ceylin stands at the door and Ilgaz asks Tolga to shut it.
Ilgaz addresses Ismet—you owe money. Who doesn’t, he replies. Ilgaz says, you asked for a loan and requested an advance, but I don’t want to talk about that. I want to talk about your gambling debt. Did you exchange your sister for a gambling debt? Ismet has his head down and nods yes.
It’s too late now, Ilgaz says. He rips into Ismet, aren’t you ashamed? You were her brother! You gave your sister away like a toy! Just so you could clean your sins! How much did you owe? What was the price of your humanity? Ismet owns up to the 300,000. Ilgaz asks, where did you gamble? At the café.
Ilgaz leaves the room and calls for Rafet. He says the citizen in that office is the bride’s brother. She was sold to settle a gambling debt. Rafet refers to Ismet as garbage [takes one to know one]. He adds, maybe he killed the girl. She didn’t want to marry and planned on running away. Maybe he fed her the pills. Ilgaz says that’s possible, but he wouldn’t have had time to dump her body. Without her, the debt is back on.
Rafet asks Umut to bring Ismet to his office for a statement. Ismet asks Ceylin and Tolga if they are coming with him. Ceylin dumps Ismet (and maybe the rest of the family?) as a client because of this disgusting revelation.
Rafet tells Umut to get Ismet a lawyer from the Defenders’ Office. He doesn’t let Ismet sit down.
Ilgaz and Eren return to the interrogation room. Ilgaz asks Selim, do you have the necklace? What necklace are you talking about, Selim replies. Eren explains. He shows Selim the pic of him putting the necklace on Ferda. Do you remember it? Yekta asks, if you say he gave it to her and you have proof, why do you ask where it is?
Ilgaz answers, we couldn’t find it in the water or on the bride’s body. Eren says, whoever took it… killed her. Omer pipes up, I think it would make more sense to ask her killer.
And we are out.
#4 Part 1 of 2
Braulio tries to explain to Nuria that he thought she’d never go out with him if she knew he was an owner. He has tears in his eyes. He tries one gambit, saying he has the resources to find Andrés. But he’s thrown out on his ear.
A rather insensitive cop is grilling Andrés about what happened to him. He mostly seems to want to lock up the driver. Diego looks nervous, but Andrés can’t remember the driver, only that he got down from a bus and was running.
Valentin tells Roberto that it makes no sense for him to be part of Grupo Zepeda. He’s going to sell his shares. Martha sees $$$ flying out the window and frantically calls Braulio.
Hmmm. Amalia asks Aida if she’s ever loved someone who didn’t feel the same way. We see a significant look. Could she have feelings for Roberto?
Alberto, the hacker, tells Santiago that the other assassin, Caras, may be in Juárez.
Liana calls Santiago trying to connect, but he’s less than thrilled and tells her he’s quite busy.
My gag reflex goes off when Nuria thanks Fausto for being such a help. Later she tells Consuelo she was wrong about him. When he's alone with Consuelo and she wonders if their telling her about Braulio was too much under the circumstances, the real reason comes out of Fausto. He was afraid that Braulio would discover that tú y yo had something to do with it. He just keeps circling her in as equally guilty.
Braulio tells Tigre his plan to redeem himself by finding Andrés when Santiago arrives to tell him about being shot at. I’m conflicted about Braulio. I’m not 100% convinced that he had something to do with the crime 5 years ago.
Martha tries again with Amalia. I am heartily sick of these scenes where she tries to get Amalia to stay married to save the investment in the company. Amalia gets in a good one. “What makes you think your son is worth fighting for?”
Santi looks at a text and tells Braulio he has Caras’ address.
Blondie tells Jacinto that someone close to the family might be involved in Andrés’s disappearance.
Celia refuses to let Diego see his daughter until he pays child support.
#4 Part 2 of 2
Jacinto, like all of us, loathes Fausto. But he tells him what Blondie said about someone close to the family having been involved. Fausto manages again to get in to see Blondie and swears he’ll get him out.
Nuria wants to go to the U.S. to look for Andrés.
Diego gets some of his art supplies from the store he’s lost.
Liana, like every rich girl in nearly every telenovela, can’t think of anything except the male protagonist, in this case Santiago. She wants Amalia, who’s close to him, to help her. When Amalia mentions the infertility problem, Liana says she’s never wanted children (a definite way to finish last in a telenovela).
My palm itches every time I see Consuelo. Could I jump through my TV and slap her? Just once? She does Fausto’s bidding and tries to get information about the case from Jacinto. Jacinto clearly cares for her. He also gives us an idea of why Fausto got canned from the cops. He says something about “trafficking” but idiot Consuelo interrupts to defend Fausto before we find out what he was trafficking.
Diego tells the doctor who’s been caring for Andrés that he was the one who hit Andrés with his car. He’s prepared to turn himself into the police. But the doctor believes that the boy ran right in front of the car and that Diego has been wonderful with the boy. The child will have to go to an orphanage, at least until his parents are found. Diego promises to see him every day.
Braulio bribes some cop again to get in to see Blondie. But Fausto has arranged to have some other crooked cop hang him so as to appear like suicide.
Roberto looks like he may be having a heart attack [maybe caused by 30+ years with Martha]. She yells for Aida instead of calling an ambulance.
Poor little Andrés is sobbing and clinging to Diego, but is taken off by the social worker.
We see Santiago arrive at the address where Caras is supposed to be. Tigre gives him a gun. We see him enter but not what happens.
Fausto tells Consuelo he had Blondie killed to protect HER. This woman is too dumb to live. He tells her they’re in this together, and Nuria overhears. C’mon. There’s zero chance this cliffhanger will amount to anything. It’s too soon for Fausto and Consuelo to be outed.
Thanks so much, novelera, for your fantastic recaps for Vuelve.
I have to admit I'm still struggling to remember who is who. I'll have to re-read your recaps.
"My palm itches every time I see Consuelo. Could I jump through my TV and slap her? Just once?" was too funny. She's so unlikable. Doing this to Nuria is just evil.
Lol about "Roberto looks like he may be having a heart attack [maybe caused by 30+ years with Martha]." Was there a good person called Martha in any telenovela ever? I only remember annoying women being called that.
"There’s zero chance this cliffhanger will amount to anything." Yes. Way too soon for this this reveal.
Thanks again, novelera.
Gracias, Dondi. Sometimes I don't get the back and forth with Ilcey, so thanks for breaking down that he wanted her to return to the hospital so she wouldn't be at the station to hear the questioning. Of course, she doesn't comply. When will he learn?
I thought Ridvan and Ozge were already engaged. Ridvan, step on it.
I like to see the tricks Ilgaz has up his sleeve. Swallowing the empty sedative in front of everyone, very interesting.
I'm certain now that Omer is guilty -- of something, I'm just not sure of what yet.
Thank you Novelera for your recaps of the first week of this show. I appreciate the time and effort you put into introducing us to this show! I am really interested in checking this one out - you say Christian de la Campa and I am there- but I haven’t been able to watch yet. I am out of town on vacation until late next week and I would have to catch up after that but I would be willing to help out with recapping after that if the discussion/recaps continue for Vuelve. Realistically it would probably be towards the end of week 3 if not week 4 before I could contribute.
Thanks so much for all the details, dondi. And your asides were perfect!
I am also happy to see Pars alive and mostly well. I remember your repeated "uh-oh's", maybe when Derya was catastrophizing a week or so ago. I am also enjoying Ridvan's obvious affection for Pars. I remember how Pars bullied him at the beginning of the dizi; and now Pars sometimes does it just to kid him.
And Metin is a mensch. I love the way the other cops are always so pleased to see him when he shows up at the police station.
I kind of foresee Ridvan being henpecked in the not too far off future. Ozge is very pushy, not only about getting a proposal but, IIRC, wanting him to spill details from Pars' work.
Yes, that was quite amusing when Ilgaz had to confess he'd parked his car outside Ceylin's office. And I also saw Eren's grin.
I'm trying to remember. Did the seed eater appear before the bride's murder? Is he working for Yekta/Omer as part of his revenge against Ceylin? Or is it related to the two awful families that caused a young woman to die before her time?
I didn't like Ilgaz flushing those meds. We get bulletins about not doing this from my city's utility company.
Gul has certainly had a major personality change. I enjoyed her concern for Metin. She still thinks of him as family.
I love it when Ilgaz shuts Yekta down. I can't STAND the way he answers for his clients over and over again.
Thanks for the kind words, Weirdo and Darcy. I did agree to recap the first week. I especially like doing a really detailed one for the first episode. Wiki always has a cast list that I can use for the characters' names when they appear in the first one. But that two-hour thing just infuriated me, and I did the bare minimum.
Darcy, I don't think there will be enough recappers to keep going. Also, there are so many predictable things here. I've kind of gotten spoiled with the cleverer plots in Turkish dizis. I'm pretty sure I've seen this plot a dozen times. Poor girl with a kind of bad rich boy lusting after her (Braulio). Rich boy loves poor girl, but rich girl chases him and, sometimes, sabotages his relationship with the poor girl. So, a quartet.
I am surprised at liking Levy a bit more in this one. Maybe it's because he plays a guy who's been in prison and has been humbled a bit. But I still can't understand what he says without subtitles. It's partly the mumbling and partly speaking faster than most telenovela characters.
#5 – Part 1 of 2
Nuria is told that what Fausto and Consuelo were discussing when she walked in was that Blondie had died in jail. She cries out, thinking he’s the only one who knows where her son might be.
Santiago moves through the weird, deserted factory, gun drawn. He finds a business card for one Rosendo, a Zepeda business card. He doesn’t say the surname. He finds Caras shot or stabbed in the stomach; I couldn’t tell which. Hmmm. Santiago ran around telling people he was going after Caras y...
Roberto seems OK; but, like lots of machos who don’t live to a ripe old age, he refuses to go in for tests.
Braulio comes once more to Nuria’s house to try to win her back. He promises to get a quick divorce, but she won’t forgive the deception. He hints she shouldn’t be with another man, and she tells him she’s not any man’s property. She throws him out.
Sigh. Fausto gets a call from the guys he owes money to and tells Consuelo that they’re the ones who “forced” him to take Andrés. The guy threatens him with meeting la calaca (a skeleton, or death). Consuelo keeps trying to get him to ask them where Andrés is, but of course he doesn’t. When Fausto leaves the room, Consuelo picks up and calls the guy back asking to meet them.
Jacinto bends over Blondie’s body and tells the crooked, grey-haired cop that he was strangled and then hanged to make it appear to have been suicide.
Amalia comes to see Roberto. She mentions buying the Zepeda shares from her father as a kind gesture. Of course, Martha walks in and gets hostile. When Amalia leaves the room Martha tells Roberto that Amalia wants to become president and kick him out of the company.
Nuria is walking through town wearing a t-shirt with Andrés’ photo on it and passing out flyers with his picture as well. Jairo shows up, loudly accusing her of being the lover of the boss. He then makes another pass at her.
Aida calls Santiago to tell him about his father. He says he’ll come right away.
Jacinto comes to see Consuelo, asking her if Fausto had anything to do with Blondie’s death. She yells at him, defending Fausto even though she knows he did it “for her”. Jacinto: Run, run from this idiot!
Fausto is not walking around passing out flyers. He’s looking at his phone and sees a news bulletin that interests him.
Diego has come to see Celia’s mother to plead for being able to see his daughter, Dana. You can see where Celia got her cold heart.
Another obsessed cop grills Santiago about Caras’ death, bringing up his having been in prison. Santiago replies that he was released for lack of evidence. [This makes no sense. Why wasn’t the lack of evidence discovered 5 years ago?] I thought he’d been released on parole or something. Gerardo comes in with a lawyer, and the cop has to give up his questioning.
#5 – Part 2 of 2
Andrés arrives at the orphanage. The social worker introduces him to the other children, who seem pleasant enough to him, but Andrés doesn’t want anything to do with them.
Martha accuses Amalia of wanting to take over the company. When Amalia accuses her of never finding any fault with her son, Martha claps back about Amalia never going to be a mother. [What the hell is wrong with this woman? Amalia is a sweet, kind person.] When Amalia tells her about her plan to adopt, Martha nastily says that it wouldn’t be fair to the child because it wouldn’t be a real family.
Liana has come to see Roberto. She really loves him. He asks her to try to get Martha to make peace with Santiago.
Stupid Consuelo comes to see the thugs that Fausto owes money to.
Roberto chews Braulio out for betraying Amalia. When Braulio tells his father it wasn’t just a roll in the hay; he was in love. Roberto tells him he should throw him out of the company for being so stupid. After a commercial, Braulio tells his father that that thing is now over.
Martha tells Aida that her mother made her give up her daughter.
Jacinto bursts in on the thugs. Sadly they don’t get around to telling Consuelo that they had nothing to do with the kidnapping or forcing Fausto to do it. Jacinto captures one of the thugs. The other uses Consuelo as a shield, but then drops her outside the door. She clings to Jacinto, sobbing.
The social worker tells Diego he could get partial custody of his daughter if he gets a job.
Braulio comes to see Amalia. He tells her he was wrong to agree to their separation.
The thug who’s locked up says he doesn’t know anything about the child. When Jacinto slams the guy’s head on the table, he says that their business with Fausto is only because he owes them money.
Braulio pulls out all the stops to try to convince Amalia he doesn’t want her to leave him. We don’t see if she goes for this or realizes he’s trying to stay in Papa’s good books.
Diego pretends to be a janitor at the orphanage to get to see Andrés. Andrés asks Diego to adopt him because he’s sure he’s just a kid from the streets like the others here.
Jacinto comes out of the interrogation room, running hot. He grabs Fausto yelling that he knows he was involved.
Sigh. The grey-haired crook says that the boy appeared. Nuria has just walked into the police station and hears this. The swine with grey hair says that he appeared dead. Somehow this is connected with the news bulletin Fausto saw about a family, including a child, burning up in a car.
Nuria shrieks No! again and again, and Consuelo sobs.
First let me thank you novelera for a week of excellent, excellent recaps! I usually give a new novela at least a week to see if it might be my cup of tea, and I must say that I like what I’ve seen so far! I’m not a big Levy fan either, but he seems to be “different” somehow in this one. Yeah, he’s definitely a mumbler, and a fast mumbler at that! But thank goodness for subtitles!
Character-wise and storyline wise, the rich boy- poor girl thing, seems to b a favorite that will NEVAH DIE! However there does seem to be a little bit of a twist in this one. For instance, Nuria and Amelia. Imo, they are the same person, except one is rich and the other is poor. They are both sweet and kind, loyal, honorable and loving. One can have children and the other cannot, but their love for children/ Andres is what drives this story so far. Braulio fell in love with the same woman he married——dumb ass. Not sure yet whether Braulio is good, bad, or just a dumb ass?
Santiago, although currently in his search for justice, was apparently a previous cad and playboy. But that does not make him not a good person or a smart, saavy businessman. Not sure what his title was at the company before going to prison, but it’s apparent that Roberto trusts him. His affection and support for Amelia also shows that he’s a caring and loyal guy, even though we’re still early in this story. But whew! Amelia’s dad is a pistol! And I’m kinda digging Tigre, lol—— maybe it’s the scar.
Fausto has the ick factor written all in those crazy eyes of his! They seem to go in different directions every time he gets an evil idea. Either he’s diabolically smart (hence every cop save Jacinto owes him a favor) or he’s just making it up as he goes along and the universe is currently allowing him too. Consuelo/ Consuela? has got to be the naivest sheep in the herd to believe anything this psycho says. She must be sex whipped, and I can see that. Crazy, hot sex can temporarily render you dumber than dumb. And what auntie, Spanish or otherwise have you ever met not liked, loved, or was crazy about her nephew?!?!? That’s totally against type! Even if the kid is a bad seed, it’s the aunties who always give the benefit of the doubt, and love on them anyway! Aunties are usually the last ones to give up on you! I’m sure Nuria will go back to her previous feelings for Fausto. She’s just desperate right now, reaching for any straw that will give her comfort right now.
Love Roberto. He appears to be an upstanding kinda guy, who cares more about character than money. He calls it as he sees it, and gives respect where it’s due. Martha, Martha, Martha——- die already. Liana I haven’t quite figured out yet, but Santiago is her goal, and kids are persona non grata. She does seem to love both Roberto and Martha, but I can definitely see the cat claws coming when Santiago and Nuria become a thing.
So glad it wasn’t the typical “ love at first sight” for Santiago and Nuria. There was definitely interest on Santiago’s part, but he didn’t pursue it at all costs and run around like a love sick puppy. I like the build up of romance more and more, especially since becoming a dizi fan.
So I’ll give this one a go for now and can still get to bed by 10pm, lol…..
Thanks again novelera…… much appreciated!
Selim swears he doesn’t have the necklace. He put it on Ferda and never saw it again. Yekta opines, maybe a relative took it. Maybe the bride took it off… maybe, maybe, maybe… Ilgaz tells Selim, if our team searches your home, will they find the necklace there? I don’t think so, Selim replies. Ilgaz orders a search. Ilgaz wants Selim to stay at the station while the search is done. On his way out, he tells Eren to ask about Cetin.
Ilgaz asks Ceylin about Selim’s voice. He’s not the caller. Ilgaz wants her to hear Hakki’s voice, too. He fits the age range.
Eren shows Selim a pic of Fake Cetin. Selim doesn’t know him and says he’s probably with the bride’s side. Eren asks, did you have any interaction with him? Selim says this is the first time seeing him. Yekta wants to leave if there are no more questions. Eren tells him they will have to wait in an office.
Ilgaz wonders why the Faker was at the wedding. He tells Ceylin they will have to talk with Aylin. She stops to listen to Hakki on her way out. Hakki’s not the caller either.
The Erguvans arrive home. Ceylin calls Aylin, who is happy to finally hear from her sister. She’s not so happy when Ceylin asks her to come to the station because her fake doctor friend might be involved in a crime. Ilgaz wants to question you. Osman comes out of house and asks, who are you talking to? Aylin freezes.
The cleaning lady, Nur, shows up at the station to give her statement.
Pars holds his presser. As you know, an explosion took place outside the police station. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and no one was seriously injured, but we have confirmed that the bomb was placed on DA Ilgaz’s car. There was no evidence of a terrorist attack, but the investigation is ongoing.
Reporter: DA Ilgaz said he received death threats. Was he the target? Pars: we suspect this could be related to a murder case DA Ilgaz is working but we haven’t reached a definite conclusion. I’d like to highlight that no underhanded attack, no threat, or pressure on the members of the judiciary, will hinder our efforts in justice being done.
Reporter: how is the investigation going? How are you? How is Metin Kaya? Pars hesitates and we don’t get his answer.
Nur tells Ilgaz and Eren these parties always leave a disaster. The room was dirty. Ilgaz asks, did you find any capsules or medicine bottles? No. Eren asks her to think about it. You didn’t find anything to make you say, “oh my God”? Nur thinks. I saw something that looked like vomit and I cleaned it up.
Aylin comes to the station with Osman following. Aylin tells Ceylin, you’re scaring me. Why did you call me in? Osman says it’s about that guy. Aylin tells him to shut up and get lost. Aylin wonders what Cetin is involved in. Ceylin says, you were called to help us figure that out.
Ilgaz asks about the search at Selim’s house. He also wants the groom’s clothes collected. Whoever took the bride probably got vomit on them.
Cinar video calls Parla [ha, the jerk runs his hand through his hair first]. She’s called him nine times and sent messages. If you want to discuss one of the stupidest couples in dizi history, go ahead. FF>>
The cops search Selim’s house. There’s a disabled (?) guy on the couch who says, my brother, nephew, and Selim’s rooms are upstairs. He shouts for a woman named Gulcin. Gulcin brings what looks like a man’s suit. The cop asks for (Selim’s?) shoes… Eren Komiser wants them. The woman looks alarmed and asks why. The man on the couch says stop asking and get them.
Gulcin tells the cop she’s only asking for her husband’s sake (man on the couch). He suffers from a heart condition. This commotion isn’t good for him. And I don’t understand why you need the shoes. Selim didn’t do anything wrong. The husband insists she get the shoes. Gulcin reluctantly hands over the shoes. [I can’t tell, do they look dirty?] She looks worried.
Aylin talks about her relationship with the Faker. When Ceylin figured it out, she says, I asked him why he lied to me. She pauses. Ceylin asks, what was it? He told me, Aylin replies, he explained everything. What did he say, Ilgaz asks, why was he lying to you?
I can’t tell you, Aylin replies. Why not, Ceylin asks. Aylin repeats, I can’t tell you.
Ceylin is frustrated, she accuses Aylin of still seeing the Faker. Ilgaz tries to intercede. Ceylin blows up. What? She’s lying to me! Do you think I’m an idiot? Ilgaz says people lie sometimes. That’s a fact. Ceylin says that Ilgaz is letting the perfect chance go to waste.
Ilgaz gives it a try. Aylin, I understand you’re hesitant. But Cetin or whatever his name is, could be involved in a murder and that’s something serious. Aylin can’t believe her Faker could be involved. Why do you say that, Ceylin asks her sis, how do you know what he’s like? What if he’s a murderer? Why are you protecting him? Aylin blurts—because I’m in love with him. Teary Osman is watching from the outside.
Ilgaz tells Ceylin to calm down. I can’t, she replies, my sister is a certified idiot [nomination for best line of the episode.] I love Ilgaz’s answer, like he agrees with Ceylin—fine, but stay outside for a while.
Osman asks Ceylin why Aylin is crying. She doesn’t answer but he guesses—is she in love? Ceylin looks away. Why Osman pines for Aylin, I have no idea.
Ilgaz tells Aylin, I don’t know what that man said or what you believe, but we don’t even know his name. He may not be involved in the murder, but he may have info. Give us his number so we can talk to him. Aylin says he hasn’t been using it. We use an app to talk. Ilgaz asks her to use that to contact him. Tell him that you want to see him, it’s urgent. Do I have to lie to him, Aylin asks [I can’t wait for her to get crushed by the truth. I’m bad, I know.]
We don’t know his real name, Ilgaz says, if we try to speak with him, he’d probably refuse. There’s no other way. Ilgaz makes an appeal hoping Aylin has a shred of common sense or sympathy. A young woman was murdered on her wedding night. She was dumped in the water. There were threats and a bomb. It’s all connected! Please help us. Aylin’s going to do it.
Fake Cetin is chatting up another victim. She has her dog with her and what do you know, he’s got a dog, too. His dog has a health problem. He spouts more BS about his dog. She’s hooked, he makes a date with her and her dog for tomorrow at 2.
Aylin contacts the Faker. I miss you, I need to see you. He’s rolling his eyes. I’m busy, he replies, but I’ll stop by the office tomorrow at 9. If you’re alone, we can have breakfast.
Ilgaz thanks Aylin for doing the right thing.
Umut tells Ilgaz the team finished the house search. No necklace. Forensics has the groom’s suit and shoes. Ilgaz tells Eren to let Selim go for now. Eren releases them. Yekta asks if the necklace was found. Eren does not answer. Yekta snarks, let’s leave this unpleasant office and get some fresh air.
Ceylin leaves the station with Aylin and Osman. Aylin asks Osman to step away so she can speak with Ceylin alone. You’ll be very mad, Aylin says, but I’ll tell you everything. So she tells her sister she sold the house to get a passport for Parla. She gave the money to Cetin. And please don’t tell anyone.
I’ll go crazy, Ceylin says, are you insane? [No just very stupid.] How could you give that shameless man the money? Aylin explains that not all the money was lost. Cetin gave her a car. It’s not in her name, but he gave it to her to use. Ceylin asks, where is the car? Parked outside the office. Ceylin wants the keys. She takes them and walks. Aylin says, I sold the house, aren’t you going to say anything? Think of what you’re going to tell Osman, Ceylin replies.
Ceylin returns to Eren’s office. That idiot Cetin gave [certified idiot] Aylin a car. It’s parked outside my office. Eren takes the keys and says he’ll handle it. Pars comes to the office. He says let’s go eat. Ilgaz balks, he’s very busy. Pars says this will be a working dinner. Derya is here, but didn’t want to come in. She’s sensitive because of how she lost her late husband. Let’s eat and work at the same time.
The men are at the table. Eren gets word from the antiterrorist unit that the bomb was detonated manually. It wasn’t set. You were probably being watched and they knew you weren’t in the car. And the explosives they used aren’t very destructive. Ilgaz says it’s obvious this was a scare tactic. And it worked. They laugh. Ilgaz proposes a toast.
The ladies are in the restroom. Ceylin questions Derya… I suppose you haven’t told Pars. I haven’t said anything because there’s nothing to say, Derya replies. Ceylin asks, what does that mean? Derya tells her, I’m not going to give birth. Ceylin is dismayed. Derya, we were scared, but everything is fine. Pars is fine. Derya counters, but something could have happened.
Sure, anything could have happened, Ceylin says, the possibilities are endless. You panicked and you may regret your decision. How do we know a giant billboard won’t fall on us as we leave here? Who is guaranteed to live to 100? If we follow your logic, no one should have kids. You can’t give up on your baby so easily. Derya says, this is my baby and my decision. I will assume the consequences. Derya walks out.
The ladies return to the table. Their mood is not good. Eren tells Ceylin that Aylin’s car belongs to a woman. He gave my sister another woman’s car, Ceylin asks, did you locate the owner? Ilgaz says they are going to meet with her. Pars notices Derya isn’t eating. Something wrong? You don’t like the food?
Ceylin can’t help herself. She asks, when’s the wedding? Pars says less than 2 weeks. Ceylin snipes at Derya, you’ll get to wear your dress before your belly starts to show. Pars says, what belly? She hardly eats. The gown will be too big on her. No, Ceylin says, it will be tight, right Derya? Derya is stunned at Ceylin’s audacity. The men are trying to process what’s happening. Did I miss something, Pars asks. Ask Derya, Ceylin replies. Derya glares… please, Ceylin.
Ceylin looks at Pars, my dear friend, congratulations. I think you’re going to be a great father. Derya leaves the restaurant. The table falls silent. Pars finally says, did I hear correctly? I’m going to be a father? Derya is pregnant, Ceylin replies. Pars goes after Derya.
Ceylin tells Ilgaz and Eren, before you judge me, Derya was going to abort the baby without telling anyone. Ilgaz says, still, that was no way to break the news. That was harsh, Eren says. Ilgaz adds, it came out of nowhere. But you did the right thing. [I thought she did a crappy thing, but okay.]
Pars finds Derya. Why didn’t you tell me? I don’t understand. What happened? Are you upset because Ceylin spoiled the surprise? I don’t care. I don’t even know what to do now. I feel like shouting it to the world. I’m so happy. That’s why you’ve been crying… it’s the hormones. He says a very Pars thing—so we’ll take tissues everywhere we go now.
Derya remains silent. He asks her what’s wrong. Are you sick? I’m scared, Pars, she answers. I’m scared it will happen again. It’s okay, he replies, don’t be scared. It’s fine, I’m here. It’s over. It happened before, she says, I lost my baby after I lost Erhan. I think this is a sign. History will repeat itself.
Pars tells her he’s experienced a lot of losses. I’ve learned the same lessons as you. I can’t make any promises, I don’t have the words to promise you anything. Even if I did, it wouldn’t mean much. But I live my life fearlessly. Neva, my mother, my father… you think I don’t want them here with me? Of course you do, she replies, but I can’t stop my mind from racing. I love you very much, but I don’t want to go through this again. I don’t want to lose you either.
I’m here, Pars says, even if it’s just for a day or a lifetime. Even if it’s cold as winter or as hot as a roaring fire… don’t make me recite poetry now. I swear I will cherish every day I have with you like it was a gift. And I’ll do the same with that little one. Derya says she already decided. I’m not having this baby. I’m sorry. Pars calls for the car. Derya asks him, you’re not going to say anything? You made your decision, he replies, there’s nothing for me to say. Derya cries.
The others leave the restaurant. Eren says, we’re going to be aunt and uncles. Could be, Ceylin says. Ilgaz offers an inshallah. What can I say, Eren adds, may God give it to those who want it. [you know who that was for.] Ceylin tells Eren to get out. He sends his regards to Chief Metin and leaves.
Ceylin offers Ilgaz a ride in her new car. He says, wow, you’ve gone on to build a new life for yourself. As you said, time is cruel.
Osman is out on the porch, drinking and talking to his food. He laments that Aylin, the woman he is still married to, cries over a man who is a piece of trash. He’s a wreck. Aylin comes outside and joins him. She heard him talking to the tomato. I figured you should talk to another person before you go crazy. Aylin takes the bottle of rakı and pours herself a glass. You’ve talked a lot and it’s my turn to speak.
Defne has roped Ceylin into helping her with Geography homework. Ceylin admits that Geography can be boring. It’s better to travel to places, like she did when she went to Kapadokya with Ilgaz. Defne says, you came to see Dad. You still haven’t made up (with Ilgaz)? Ceylin answers, you’re a smart girl, I’ll spare you the “you’ll understand when you’re older” speech. Life is like this. Sometimes we have to do things we don’t want to. We do them even when we’re sad. Defne says, like doing chores? They laugh.
Ilgaz tells Metin to be careful and keep on guard. There’s a team downstairs. Notify them if something happens. Metin reminds Ilgaz to be careful, too. They could be going after you. Ilgaz says he’ll be careful. Ilgaz tells Merdan, I understand why you left the house. Judge Melek ruled in your favor this time, but if you do it again, she won’t show any mercy. You’ll go back to prison. He understands.
Ilgaz walks in on Ceylin giving the straight story on fairy tales. Fairy tales are trash, she tells Defne. The prince shows up, he kisses you, and you fall for him. A man you don’t know… I can’t believe it. Defne asks, so it’s all a lie? Ceylin confirms… Yes! They’re fairy tales! Ilgaz tells Ceylin it’s time to go. Defne needs to go to bed.
Aylin drinks the rakı. She starts, believe me Osman, I’m not the reason you’re unhappy. You’re like this because you’re stubborn. He doesn't understand. Our marriage was doomed from the start. It’s like a shirt that was buttoned incorrectly. It’s crooked. You saw me as the mother of your children. A way to show you had a family. That’s all I was to you. Am I lying?
Osman says nothing. Aylin continues, I spent years like an [certified] idiot knowing the truth. I was afraid to ask myself what we were. You’re like this now because you don’t want to accept it. And there’s no one around to console you.
Cut to brokenhearted Pars coming home and plopping down on the couch.
Back to the certified idiot(s). You’re not sad because it’s over between us, Aylin says, or because there’s someone else. You’ve realized that you wasted a lifetime. You don’t want to accept it, but you did. Aylin raises her glass—so… welcome aboard. To all the time we wasted. She drinks. Don’t worry, she tells him, I’m still making the same mistakes. The people I let into my heart, walk all over me. Cetin did it too. Osman sobs.
And we are out.
Thanks, Dondi. Riveting recap.
Omigosh, I agree it was a crappy move for Ceylin to betray Derya's trust like that. On the other hand, I'm glad the pregnancy was outed. Time is running out and Pars deserved to know.
I fully expect Derya to give birth and get back to her old self. But will she ever trust Ceylin with her personal stuff again?
If you want to discuss one of the stupidest couples in dizi history [Cinar/Parla], go ahead. FF>>
LOL!!!
Eren asks her [cleaning lady] to think about it. You didn’t find anything to make you say, “oh my God”?
Eren was great at getting the cleaning lady to recall.
I didn't see the first season and only half of the second, but Aylin seemed awfully rough on Osman. Better she save that anger for Cetin and herself.
Thank you for the summary, Susan. I am still watching this one. I can’t help thinking it’s like watching two trains racing toward each other on the same track! Bhiter’s mother is awful. Her need for money to pay debts is why Pekyar’s Hilmi (?) hates Bhiter’s family. He insisted on a prenup for his son to marry, and Fatma made Nikat pay her a bundle before she let P sign the prenup. When the father found out too late, he threw the son out. Adnan generously hired him. Lots percolating beneath the surface. How Bhiter could fall for smug, manipulative Behlul is a mystery to me!
Babachita
Thanks so much, dondi. You are amazing...getting all the details; and, as a bonus, the Turkish names that usually take me 5 episodes to get straight!
I'm kind of softening on Parla and Cinar. Neither is a genius; both make mistake after mistake. But I like seeing Cinar smile. He's been through a lot. And the only person who seems to have treated him like an adult is Merdan.
That worried woman about Selim's shoes went right by me. Good grief, both the bride and the groom's families are riddled with suspects showing suspicious looks!
I'm bad too. The writers have kept us watching Aylin's stupidity way too long. She needs to know what a "certified idiot" she is once and for all.
Wow! Fake Cetin is on to a new victim. I thought he said he'd bring his dog to meet the new woman. He'll be scouring Istanbul looking for a dog of that breed to dognap.
The writers consistently bring up moral conundrums. At this point most of us love Pars, with his (over) protective side and his awkward, halting courtship of Derya. At the moment Ceylin did what she did, I was glad Derya wouldn't just abort his child and say nothing. On the other hand the message is also pro-choice. A woman shouldn't be forced to bear a child.
Where did that balcony where Aylin had her soul baring with Osman come from? Is it supposed to be Gul's house? We've only ever seen the front of the house and some of the interiors.
We keep getting glimpses of the person Ceylin might be or maybe would like to be. Her relationship with Defne, Metin, and even Merdan demonstrates a warmer Ceylin. Putting on my amateur psychiatrist hat, maybe she keeps being prickly and defensive because of growing up with Gul and her father. Sorry, my brain won't come up with his name.
Lots of suspects. When we first met Selim he just seemed like someone who'd been roped into a marriage he didn't want because of his and the bride's parents. Now they have him looking shifty most of the time.
Is this one any good?
I don't know the actres, and William Levy's haircut in the promotional poster makes him look stupid.
Thanks for your amazing recaps, novelera.
I don't know if I'm going to stay with this one. It doesn't keep at the edge of my seat.
If someone volunteers to recap the next week, I'll read them and give this one one last try; otherwise I'll stop from today.
Novelera , thank you for an excellent recap . I am trying to catch up now with the reruns on Telemundo.
Vain, greedy Fatma wanted Adnan and the governess seems to have always been in love with him . His children adore him.
Beulah seems to be getting Obsessed with Bihter , and it is only a matter of time before these two get together . Adnan's daughter has a crush on Buelah.
I am almost caught up . I think I will keep watching . I like Jacinto and Diego. Santiago is growing on me with his sad, tired eyes and excellent running skills.
Will Jacinto fall in love with Nuria?
Looks like two brothers will be in love with the same woman. Does Nuria know Braulio is married? I have seen the actor playing Braulio in many shows. I dont like that mustache beard combo he is sporting .
Weirdo, Is Braulio's wife the actress who played awful Karen in " MI Camino?"
The guy playing Fausto looks familiar to me , but I can't place him.
I hope the crying badge screaming " MI bebe" lets up a little.
Susan, Adnan gets a funny look in his eye often. He was strongly warned against Fatma’s family by Hilmi, Peykar’s father-in-law, and by Behlul. Now Behlul is trying to take back what he said. But, whenever Bhiter does something that Adnan doesn’t like, I think he wonders if he’s being made a fool of. Bhiter does things spontaneously, without thinking, so this is going to get worse. Yes, she terminated the pregnancy at the doctor’s office. A bumpy ride ahead!
Babachita
Yes, Mrs. Braulio is Karen from Mi camino. I think she may be a nice character in this one! The crying aloud is a bit over-the-top, so I also hope things calm down a bit. I recognize the good cop from a recent novela where he was a step-brother to the galán who was Rulli, I think. The good cop actor had longer hair in that one.
Babachita
Babachita, I think the prisoner that Santiago was talking to is the actor who played Karen's father in "Camino." I love seeing these actors and actresses turn up in different shows . They evidently go back and forth between Telemundo shows and Univision.
I am trying to picture Jacinto with longer hair. I am also sure that I have seen Fausto before. Andres has been in several shows that I have watched.
Susan, I looked him up. Diego Klein played the stepbrother in the remake of Los ricos también lloran…with lovely hair!
Babachita
Babachita, thanks so much for solving the mystery of Jacinto. I like him better with long hair , but he couldn't have those long locks as a police officer. He's doing a great job so far. Perhaps we will see him as the galan some day.
I am all caught up with the show, and it is getting better and better . I am going to stay with it. I think William is pretty good in this one , and I really like Diego ( who also looks familiar to me ) and Jacinto. Diego is so sweet and goodhearted. I love his interactions with Andres. He will probably end up with that social worker.
The leading lady looks a bit like Livia Brito. Consuelo is annoying .
Is Alicia going adopt Andres ?
is Consuelo in the running for Martha's long-lost adopted daughter? (they deserve each other)
hmmm, Amelia's foundation has been dealing with a place in Aguascalientes where (not his name) Juan currently is and she is looking to adopt, of course Braulio would be too busy looking for Andrés to notice, besides, "he doesn't raise other people's kids".
(I think Braulio is out of the running with Nuria ever since in his rant he told her "you are mine").
they couldn't have found a creepier guy to be Fausto he just reeks of danger, I would think everyone could sense this.
by the time buff Bill (Santiago) figures out the crime, everyone will be dead. (so 5 years in jail and there is still no evidence). Chema and his daughter Violeta are in this story because...
I guess Nuria won't be taking her drama north, to look for Andrés.
'El Tigre' looks like he walks on the dark side, is he just in this for the paycheck?
career girl Liana, who killed her parents with a rubik's cube, seems to know how to get what she wants, is this a trophy husband she is after?
Victoria, I think this one is decent. It has a lot of the stereotypes, but this is what you get when you watch TNs. Poor, struggling girl, wealthy family with some of them nice and some baddies as well.
Susan, yes it is fun watching actors one has seen before in a different role. Notably, the woman playing the kindly, infertile Amalia I first saw in El Señor de los Cielos. She played Aurelio's wife who was definitelly opposed to his evil ways. So...I've only seen her as kind, decent characters. And I might have stopped watching not too long after she died on the show.
I'm pretty sure Jacinto is into Consuelo instead of Nuria. He'll probably pick up the pieces after she's finally wised up to Fausto.
Yes, the actor playing Diego really makes us root for him. I've seen him in something before but years ago.
deb, your snark meter is set on high today! And your sharp eyes and ears caught the part about Amalia's expanding to Aguascalientes. I expect she'll meet Andres if he's still there. But a case can be made for Diego being able to take him in.
Yes, that actor playing Fausto is EVIL. Those scary blue eyes and the way he bamboozles idiot Consuelo are driving me crazy. It probably will be months before anyone catches on to him.
I think Liana has had a thing for Santiago for years. Something was said about their having played together as children. She said she'd visited him in prison, so she's tried to keep the embers going. She already canceled Milan, which I believe is in the top tier of fashion events.
Just to annoy me, there’s a slight rewind of the Osman-Aylin pity party.
Ilcey bids goodnight to the rest of the Kayas and head upstairs. Metin asks Merdan why he left the house. Merdan says he did what he had to do. Metin presses, why did you run out like that? You call her avukat gelin, but she worked hard to get you house arrest.
Merdan replies, like it or not, I only have one son… and that’s you. You’re not just a picture in the corner of the TV. If anyone hurts you, if it’s just a scratch, if anyone lays a hand on anyone in this house, I won’t think about it. You can handcuff me and hang me upside down. I’ll still go to you. Merdan rises from his seat. I left to run to you! If it’s a crime, they can throw me into a dark pit. I’d do it again. Merdan leaves the room.
Ilcey start in at the door. She doesn’t want to stay with him. She says that only applied to the station. He makes his case, it’s dangerous, a bomb exploded in his car, there’s no way he’s sending her back to the office. Ceylin tells him, things only get dangerous when we’re together. You know what happened last night. [Ceylin, don’t deny viewerville some pleasure.] Ilgaz replies, it’s not as dangerous as a bomb. She sighs and enters and says, I’ll take the bedroom.
Cinar comes to the door and wants to speak with Ilgaz outside. Cinar can’t believe Ilgaz is so calm about everything. Won’t you recuse yourself from the case? If you were in the car, you’d be dead! Ilgaz says he wasn’t in the car and he’s not dead. Don’t worry. What if they don’t give up, Cinar asks, what if they try again? Is it more important than your life? Drop the case. Ilgaz replies, this is my job, please understand. You can’t get justice if you’re scared.
Okay, let’s not call it cowardice, Cinar says, let’s call it precaution. He continues to argue his point. Have you thought of those you’d leave behind? The people who’d suffer? I realized something, you are an enormous part of my life. Cinar gets emotional, your absence… would kill me. He walks away.
In the meantime, Ceylin gets another threatening call. Next time, we’ll blow it up with your husband inside. Make him close the case! The caller hangs up. Ilgaz returns to the house. Where were you, Ceylin asks. He called! What did he say, Ilgaz asks. She tells him. Ceylin wonders how Ilgaz can be so calm. I’m not afraid of anyone, Ilgaz replies.
Ceylin wants him to close the case. No way. If I submit, Ilgaz answers, I’ll never be able to lift my head again. Then let someone else handle it, she says. I won’t step aside so someone else can get hurt, he replies. There are people who need you, she says, what about the people who would suffer? Did you think of Defne? She goes to the bedroom.
Metin is about to take Defne to school, when Ceylin comes out with a treat for Defne to take. [They cut product placement—Ceylin using her air fryer to make chocolate chip mini muffins. She left some with Merdan, too.] Metin has some info on the football manager. They’ll talk later.
Ilgaz tells Ceylin and Metin that last night’s call was from a burner phone. He also says the woman who owns the car that Cetin gave Aylin was detained. She was trying to sell the bride’s necklace at a bazaar. She’s being questioned now. Guess who brought her the necklace? Cetin. Ilgaz says Aylin is at the office, let’s head there.
Aylin waits nervously inside the office while Ilcey and Eren wait in their cars for Fake Cetin to show up.
Ilgaz brings up Derya and Pars. He’s happy for them. Don’t be too happy, Ceylin replies, Derya has made up her mind. We don’t know if my ploy worked. Ilgaz thinks Pars won’t allow it. He shouldn’t. Ceylin says they are both right. It’s a 50/50 split. And Derya has every right not to keep the baby. Ilgaz says he wouldn’t allow her to do it. Ceylin scoffs, good thing, I’m not pregnant. [hmm…they had “dangerous” sex the other night.] Good thing, Ilgaz answers.
The Faker arrives with breakfast for Aylin. Ilcey, Eren and Umut follow and knock at the office door. Eren addresses the Faker, Cetin not Cetin (CnC), come with us to the station. CnC asks what’s going on. Eren says let’s go to the station so we can verify your identity and so on. CnC asks Aylin if this was a set up. He resists leaving.
Ilgaz tells CnC he is under arrest for suspicion of murder. CnC is incredulous. Murder? Are you crazy? Eren is fed up with whateverhisnameis. Let’s go! CnC declares his innocence. He turns to Aylin and lies, I really loved you. Is this what I’m worth to you? They finally get CnC out of there.
Ceylin gets a call from Metin. Ilgaz thanks Aylin for her help. Don’t be sad, he says, you deserve better. This will be over soon. Aylin watches CnC being loaded into the car. She breaks down and cries.
Ceylin plans to meet Metin. Ilgaz says he will stay with the team. Ceylin drives away and Ilgaz signals for a cop to follow her.
Ceylin meets Metin at a florist shop. A woman who works there, Zehra, had filed a complaint against Muhsin (the manager), but she dropped it. Ceylin heads inside to speak with her. Zehra cheerfully greets her, and Ceylin introduces herself as a lawyer and she wants to speak about Muhsin. Zehra immediately asks Ceylin to leave.
I just want to ask a few questions, Ceylin says. Did you drop your complaint? I don’t want to talk about it, Zehra answers emphatically. If you’re not buying flowers, please leave. Ceylin turns as if she’s leaving… Then she turns back and says, there’s nothing more encouraging to a criminal than getting away with his crime. He did it again and no one reported it. Once again, someone stayed quiet. I don’t know who will be next, but I’m certain he will never stop. This time Ceylin turns and leaves the shop. Zehra is upset.
Metin is waiting outside, and Ceylin shakes her head at him. Zehra comes out of the shop and tells Ceylin she has 5 minutes.
CnC is brought to the interrogation room. Eren starts, okay Cetin not Cetin… and CnC rolls his eyes. Don’t give me that look, Eren says, is that how you trick women? They ask for it, he replies, not me. Ilgaz asks, what’s that supposed to mean? CnC explains, women love lies. I tell them all the lies they want to hear, that’s all. [Arrogant, unrepentant POS.]
Ilgaz asks CnC for his real name. He says it’s Nizam Teven. Ilgaz states, you were at a wedding last week, Nizam Teven. Is that not allowed, Nizam asks. Eren says, you attended Ferda and Selim’s wedding. Nizam lies, Selim is a close friend. Your close friend denies knowing you, Ilgaz replies. Nizam quickly answers, I meant Selim, the bride’s cousin. Eren says to cut it, no one there knew who you were.
Nizam explains, I was bored so I went to Sile. I saw a wedding, people were having fun, and I wanted to hang out with them [probably thought he could find another mark.] Ilgaz asks, do you know why the wedding ended abruptly? Nizam says the bride ran away. He snarks, I couldn’t get any cake.
Eren snaps back, the bride was murdered! Nizam is facetious … oh…the dead bride is that bride? I didn’t know. [Nizam is a real sociopath.] Ilgaz accuses, you killed her. Nizam calmly answers, I am an incorrigible womanizer, but I’m not a murderer. You’re looking in the wrong direction. Eren has had it. Stop using fancy words or I’ll throw you in jail right now!
Ilgaz shows Nizam a pic of his necklace victim. He denies knowing her. Ilgaz tells him she was caught selling the dead bride’s necklace. She said she got it from you. That’s not true, Nizam exclaims. Eren says, we have footage of you giving her the necklace. You gave it to her in person. You killed Ferda, Ilgaz says. Nizam says he didn’t do it.
So how did you get the necklace, Ilgaz asks. Nizam says he didn’t take it. Ilgaz orders to have Nizam jailed for a few days and then they’ll take him to the judge. Wait, Nizam shouts, I didn’t kill her! How did you get the necklace, Ilgaz asks. Nizam says there was a guy standing near the groom. I think he was the best man. I saw him put it in his wife’s bag. I took it while everyone was out looking for the bride. But I didn’t kill her!
We see the flashback of people leaving the wedding. Nizam stays behind and takes the necklace and other valuables from other tables.
Ilgaz and Eren leave the room. Ilgaz asks about the best man. Yakup Saldiran. Ilgaz wants to question him. Eren asks, what should I do with him (Nizam)? Leave him in there.
Ceylin and Metin have tea. It was heartbreaking to hear Zehra’s story. Someone gives you the worst day of your life, and then they walk away like nothing happened. What’s worse is that her own parents didn’t believe her. It’s a shame, Metin says. Ceylin continues, if you only knew what he told her. He caused her to lose her job and threatened to ruin her if she told anyone else. He’s a pervert!
Metin notes, she was scared when her own family didn’t support her. Ceylin says she insisted on reporting him. He bribed the landlord and had him kick her family out. Her family turned against her. They said they were kicked out because of her lies.
Ceylin has decided not to work as a mediator on the football case because of this. She will ask Tolga for help and try to get Muhsin prosecuted. Metin asks, what if Zehra refuses to press charges? Ceylin says she’ll try to change her mind.
Metin asks if she has a plan. Ceylin would like to get the player’s wife to cooperate. She will bring attention to the case. Muhsin will be disgraced. He’ll be an example for other idiots. It’s a difficult situation. She’s thinking about her husband and what people will say. Women stay silent out of shame.
Cops come to Yakup’s workplace and bring him to the station.
Pars is eating alone at the courthouse restaurant. Derya finds him there. He’s cold to her and gets up to leave. Don’t be like this, Derya asks, aren’t we going to talk? Are you going to keep this attitude? I don’t have an attitude, he replies, I have urgent matters to attend to. Afiyet olsun. He leaves.
Yakup enters Eren’s office. He wasn’t told why he was brought there. Ilgaz explains, there’s a guy in jail who claims he saw you taking the bride’s necklace from the bride and putting it in your wife’s bag. Yakup says it’s slander. Why would I steal jewelry at the wedding of my best friend?
I don’t know, Eren replies, you tell us. Yakup swears he didn’t touch it. Ilgaz says that someone took the necklace from Ferda’s body before or after she died. Yakup repeats it’s slander. On his way out of the office, Ilgaz asks Eren to get the suit Yakup wore at the wedding. And put Yakup in a holding cell.
Ceylin calls to make an appointment to see Aydin, the footballer. The person at the other end tells her that Muhsin quit. Since he’s gone, negotiations will end. We don’t need a mediator anymore. She still wants to see Aydin. The person says they will call Ceylin back. Metin says, we can look for Aydin after his practice.
Metin asks Ceylin to drop him off at the Metro stop. He will get to Defne’s school quicker that way. He tells Ceylin to come to dinner tonight, he’s cooking fish. Ceylin feels she’s overstayed her welcome at the Kaya house. I’ll stay at the office, she says, officers are watching.
Goksu comes to Eren with news about the groom’s clothing. It was dry cleaned and the shoes were cleaned too. But they forgot about a spot on the shoes. There were bodily fluids that contained DNA. Bingo! A match to the content of the bride’s stomach. Eren calls Ilgaz, who says get Selim to the station.
Ceylin attends a hearing where Omer is the defense lawyer. Omer makes a case against the sole eyewitness based on his poor vision and lack of eyecare. The judge decides in Omer’s favor.
Yekta slides in next to Ceylin. What do you think, he asks her, he’s better than Engin, right? I love how smart he is. He’s very respectful and a thorough investigator. Very talented. The way he calls me “Dad” makes my heart melt. Ceylin answers, you’re happy because he’s working for you. Otherwise, you’d feel no love for him. You can’t love anyone. I do, Yekta counters, I love Omer. Ceylin leaves the courtroom.
Ceylin receives a message that stops her in her tracks. No… No! She hurries off.
Pars unloads his troubles in Ilgaz’s office. She didn’t even tell me she was pregnant. And now she tells me she doesn’t want to have the baby. She made her decision. It’s like my opinion doesn’t matter. I’m heartbroken. Maybe getting married so soon is a mistake.
Don’t jump to conclusions, Ilgaz replies. Pars says, she’s the one jumping to conclusions. Ilgaz asks, do you want this baby, Pars? Of course, he answers, I want to start a family. Ilgaz says he should tell her that. I’ve told her so many times, Pars responds, but I don’t know if she’s listening to me.
Ceylin bursts into Ilgaz’s office. I got a message! It’s a death notice for Metin—“Our Painful Loss”, and it has today’s date. Pars asks do we know where Metin is. Ceylin says she dropped him off at the metro station. Ilgaz tries calling his father. It’s outside the service area.
Eren tells Rat-fet that traces of vomit were found, so it’s Selim. Rafet asks, why would he kill his future wife? Eren says, we’ve seen it all on this job. People kill their parents, siblings, daughters, sons… Rafet says, humanity is dead. Human life has no value.
Ilgaz calls Eren. Find my father’s location using GPS. Eren asks why. Ilgaz snaps back, just do it, please! Eren runs off and Rafet tries to get him back.
The seed eating lurker is at the pool hall. Cinar takes tea over to him. He seems suspicious of the lurker. You must like this place, he says, I’ve seen you here twice. It’s nice, the lurker answers, it has its charm. The lurker talks about having 4 or 5 teapots a day. I know good tea. So when I find a good one, I come back for more.
Cinar says it’s his grandfather’s recipe. He won’t share it with me. [then who did he share it with?] Cinar asks the lurker, are you from around here? Or are you a tea tourist? The lurker replies, I’m from far away, I just moved here recently. I used to work in Kars [that’s at the other end of Turkey.], but now I have a new job. I’ll be around.
Pars tells Ilgaz to call the house, maybe Metin is there. Eren calls Ilgaz, the last signal came from Mecidiyekoy 90 minutes ago. Ceylin says that’s where she dropped Metin off.
Ilgaz calls Merdan, have you seen my father? No, Merdan answers, he took Defne to school, and he was going to pick her up. I’m waiting for them. Ilgaz says, if he comes home or if you hear anything, call me. We can’t find him.
Ilgaz calls Cinar to find out if he’s heard from Metin. He hasn’t.
Umut stops Eren as he’s leaving the station. We got a call. An older man was seen on the side of the E-5. They didn’t get a good look, but the man wasn’t moving. He looks like Chief Metin. Eren wants the location. He calls Ilgaz.
Ilgaz, Ceylin and Pars leave the courthouse and head to the scene with back up.
We see Metin lying at the side of the road, unconscious. There’s blood. Ilgaz runs to his father’s side.
And we are out.
novelera- thank you ever so much for the recaps all week!
I'm watching the next day online so..., not sure for how long.
this is a pretty good story, they do a good job of weaving in the action with the drama, and I'm finding the Diego/Andres story tugging at the heart strings. I think it may have been overlooked but when Diego went to see his wife and daughter at her mothers, they mentioned she had moved in with a guy from the bank. It seems like the closer Diego tries to be with his daughter, the further away she gets.
Thank you, dondi356.
Cetin/Nizam can't say a couple of sentences without lying. But Eren and Ilgaz were not buying any of it. At least they got some lead out of him. They can prosecute him for something now. Like for stealing the necklace.
Threats turned into action - Metin was attacked. Ilgaz must be getting close.
Gracias, Dondi. I enjoy all your commentary.
At last, Fake Cetin is in the hot seat. I wish poor Aylin could've watched the interrogation to see what a %@&# he is. Not worth the tears.
At last, somebody notices the seed eater.
Derya doesn't seemed as ticked with Ceylin as I thought she'd be. Looks like they'll stay friends, good.
Looking forward to tonight's epi. Surely Metin will survive.
