Darcy: Looking forward to seeing your full-scale discussion recap of today's episode. Let us know when it'll get posted for the discussion.

Vino

Sorry I forgot to comment last night, will be back in a few to do so.

Vino

As I was watching yesterday two thoughts came to mind over and over again: 1) How ironic that David NEVER yelled at Fernanda for any of the number of things he should have got onto to her for, remember when Fernanda decked his lady love and he said nothing? But he's screaming at her for something he shouldn't be getting on to her for now!!! 2) Screaming in the face of someone who is having a panic attack or anxiety attack isn't the answer!!!! Geez!! It's like the scenes you see on crime shows and movies with the lunatic waving a gun around and then yelling at mom to keep the crying kid quiet. Stop scaring the kid, and maybe she could!!! This was so dramatic and so backwards! David knows she studied, he said so himself! So why yell at her and treat her as if she slacked off and isn't taking things seriously??? It makes no sense!! Kind of like most of Vino, so I guess it does make sense??? LOL

Erika is still looking like danger walking to me, she looked beautiful in the dress but those coughs are telling....

I don't understand this third place but still in the competition thing, so they have another round apparently, but how do you 'improve'? Does the wine get changed? Or do you introduce a new wine at the second round??? It doesn't seem like the kind of contest that would have semi-finals and finals, if Erika's wine is better, it's better.

Also Luci's reaction to being 3rd place shows her entitlement. I know they wanted to win but they made 3rd place sound like the bottom of the barrel and did they even taste the other wines?? I wouldn't think this would be a catastrophic event. I am not much of a wine person, but I would think you could still market a wine as '3rd place in the _________ ________ showing' and get good sales. Sure, everyone might want 1st place, but not everyone can afford it. And tastes are different, so even if everyone could afford it, everyone wouldn't agree it was the best. But maybe that's it, with all the problems they have at the vineyard and all the stupid fines they accept at face value and never question, they need the 1st place markup to stay above water??? Either way, I don't care. These people haven't made me care about their wine, heck, I'm glad Erika won, though I don't like her either.

Luci's dress was pretty, Gracie's red lip stick looked less garish than usual... I wonder if they changed the color or if her complexion was just a few shades less shockingly white than it usually is? It's a stupid detail to notice but I kept thinking the color actually looked pretty on her yesterday where usually she just looks pale and dramatic. I thought Ramon actually looked pretty good in his suit and I'm not normally a suit and tie type girl, I much prefer the jeans and tshirt look.

Juan and Perla just looked out of place snickering in the background while the judges were working...he's evil and he wants David to fail, we get it! We've had it since episode 6, you don't have to do the big snicker in the background scene, like the villain popping out from the curtain in a melodrama play to remind you he's there!

We could use more light to balance out the dark we've been given lately. More Leon and Sonia, heck, even Bobby is being a brat lately....let's have some balance!!! Please!!

Vino. Great comments, Darcy. With all his yelling and blaming, David does seem to be setting Fer up to do badly on her second try at the college exams as well. I do wonder if Juan managed to do something, however subtle, to sabotage David's place in the competition. OTOH, we have seen that for a number of reasons, Adolfo and Erika deserved to win. I'm assuming that if 1 winery wins the semi-finals, and the other the finals, they'll both have something to brag about on their wine label. Hope the irrigation problems are resolved soon!

Vino

Spanprof, that's a good point about the bragging rights if one wins the semi and one the finals. The point I was trying to make, is why would the results be different in the finals? If the judges like the one wine better how is that going to change?? Do the judges change? Does the wine change? If you have the exact same wines and the exact same judges, does the wine suddenly taste different after it's been aged a week, or month or however much longer?? I wouldn't think this would be the type of competition that you could have multiple rounds of because it's not something that you could practice more or perform better, the wine is the wine, right?

Vino. I think the second contest is an international one, or at least more extensive than just California wines. Also, there will be different judges, which the characters kept emphasizing. Maybe the top 2 or 3 in several regional competitions will compete against each other.

Vino

Yeah, I realized during today's episode that the next round is international, so I guess that's the difference, and the presentation makes a difference too... I thought they were just picking which wine they liked best. I guess even Erika felt like the vineyard was unfairly disadvantaged because David wasn't there.

Speaking of David, he threw a fit like a child over getting 3rd place, which made me understand more why Luci and the others were upset - if they knew how the boss would react, wow! And David and Luci broke up again because she's not the woman his children need....sigh, should I even mention again how the only child who is still a child adores Luci and Fern is an adult who can deal??? No, okay, I'll skip repeating myself then.

Fern needs to stop taking pills and get away from that 'doctor'. I suppose we can't even hope that Fern will react like a shocked and grossed out normal person upon hearing auntie is in love with daddy. Oh well, David deserves Gracie! He's an idiot!

I'm more and more worried about Erika, I don't think she'll be making it to the end of our story, sadly. But will Carito? Will Juan? Can we just kill Mark now? I don't think Juan will get away with just framing Mark for all his crimes, but I wouldn't be mad if it worked! At least until the end when David bests him, somehow someway....despite the total lack of intelligence or ability. Okay fine, Mark goes down for all Juan's crimes up to now and in the end Cesar gets Juan while David looks up bewildered wondering what the heck just happened! LOL

Darcy: It's bloody obvious Erika will NOT be among the living because of her asthma problems, etc.,

You & I both know that it's inevitable Creepy Miguel & Carito will be endgame.

I'm more interested in Sonia & LionCub LOL.

Vino. Excellent observations, Darcy. Carito was very foolish in telling Perlita that she was going to tell the police about the immigrant smuggling and who was responsible (though she only mentioned Mark, not Juan). It's sort of like asking for an attempt to be made on her life. I agree about Erika--I too doubt that she'll make it to the end of the novela. I'm expecting a very moving death scene. And Luci and David: together, sort of broken up, but not quite, truly broken up--ho hum! Wake me for their wedding in the final episode (probably). I'm sort of expecting Fer to be fighting a drug addiction before too many more episodes.
