Steve Boudreaux
First of all, a huge THANK YOU to Diana for her recaps and to Waterlily for her helpful dialogue translations and additional information!
I'm working on my recap for #54.
A few thoughts
I am so over “Andrea and Julieta the brat” storyline and we are only in episode 5/of 80? YAWN The only good thing was that Andrea didn’t seem to believe Leandro about getting a divorce because clearly he isn’t. She told him she wasn’t going to be his “casa chica.”
Amanda was a breath of fresh air telling her kids that pop was THEIR responsibility. Looks like she and Enrique will be a thing.
Yaneli SAW her bro being violent with Dulce. Now what? No surprise that Roy had set up Yaneli with the stolen computer. She needs to smarten up about “friends” at school and her bro.
Pablo was going to give up looking for his son because of the text? Really? Manuela seems to.have changed his mind. I cannot believe that Carmina made him choose between her and Pablito and Damián. He should have divorced her then on the spot. It is unbelievable that he didn’t. Damián was only 15. Too bad it took her and her sister stealing from his company to decide on divorcing her. It seems a little odd: money more important than his son?
Jarifa, thank you so much for your insightful recap that always clarifies so much for me. You captured everything that transpired.
I was proud of Amanda for telling her children she's had enough and they should take care of Everardo. He was disgusting; treating her with such disrespect. Tamara wouldn't even hug or kiss her. At least Leandro did but the only one who showed real compassion was Leandro's wife (do we know her name?) who hugged Amanda tightly, sending Tamara a look of pure contempt.
I love the idea of Amanda and Enrique!
Julieta is completely unwatchable. Whatever did Manuela do to deserve such a horrid child? She is making her mother doubt and rebuke herself for no reason other than to be able to move into a cushy apartment.
Leandro has a wife and two children; of course he has no intention of leaving them. Manuela seems to see right through him; I hope she doesn't waiver.
Yes, Yaneli was extremely gullible; so infatuated with loathsome Roy. She was very fortunate to have been exonerated. She needs to shed Roy like bad skin.
Pablo needs to continue his search for Damian. Yes, he needs to divorce Carmina right away. What planet is she living on that she thought she and her family could steal from the company without repercussions? Pablito is the innocent party in all of this.
It was sickening watching Genaro manhandle Dulce. He seems to hold his temper with Yaneli but he is definitely a brute. Poor Dulce; she is in imminent dangere.
The final scenes seemed to show that several of the women were being followed as they walked. Unnerving...
Diana
Gracias, Jarifa and Diana. Your summaries help me get the lay of the land.
Everado is a total mess. It's bad enough he's nasty to Amanda when they're alone, but barking at her at the dinner table in front of everyone is colmo.
I'm impressed by the Yaneli actress. Even when I don't know what's going on, she manages to get my empathy.
I can't tell if Manuela is still in love with Leandro.
Thank you Diane, Weirdo and Waterlily. I’m watching this but am behind, so I read your recaps and comments too late to add my own. I’m hoping to catch up as I was watching two plus this one. And since this is the late one I didn’t watch it regularly. Now I’m down to one plus this. If they keep missing Thursdays I may catch up.
Roberta is unbelievably mean, well she’s a murderer. Leo is an idiot for believing her. He will have to do a huge turn around to deserve Emilia.
Liz
Roy with his smirk in class was awful. He deliberately set up Yaneli to be blamed for the theft. He had said something about her neighborhood the night he was in her house, but last night he really seemed to be talking about her “low class” to her. I’m already ready for his downfall!
It was strange that Genaro was calm when he’s dealing with his sister and stolen property, but then is cruel to Dulce for no reason.
I agree that Enrique and Amanda will pair up. I was so glad she stood up for herself against him and her kids.
Leandro obviously has no intention of leaving his wife and children. I hope Manuela doesn’t do anything foolish because of her bratty kid. And I can’t wait for Julieta to realize her father loves his own kids. I’m not sure how he feels about Julieta. Does he love her or is he using her to get back with Manuela.
The ending was creepy. It made it look like they were all being followed. But maybe they just had a man walking behind them. But I wonder if the kidnapping we saw in the first episode was a future scene and we’ll see it Monday.
Liz
Besides that last scene, what I found creepy was Angeles telling daughter Manuela to be careful out there and that it was better be accompanied by man if possible. It is the 21st century but some things do not seem to have changed all that much.
Liz, I'm so glad you are watching this!
Please add your always interesting comments when you are able; after the fact is just fine!
We have a tiny patio so more comments and insight are always appreciated.
Diana
Interesting question about Manuela still loving Leandro Niecie...
She is so (rightly) distrustful of him. I think I've seen one or two scenes where her eyes softened a bit when she looks at him (can't blame her there) but I think she's too smart to fall under his spell. Again. That said, fingers crossed.

Some happy, some sad, but all shocked faces - Part 1/4
Victoria/Emilia bumps into Sara.
Leo and Nico talk about Emi and how she will be proud of him from the sky. Rob enters. After Nico leaves, Rob tells Leo she has second thoughts about the contract with Victoria. She apparently thinks Leo agreed because he likes her and warns him not to mix business with pleasure.
Sara, who's a bit shocked, asks Victoria/Emilia if she knows her. Vic/Em says she doesn't and introduces herself as Victoria Alcaraz. Sara is lagging...
Danilo is on the phone with the annoying police woman, who's suddenly not-so-annoying. He asks if Zaira is okay and tells her to take care so that nothing is lacking.
Vic/Emi talks with Sara some more and mentions living in Spain. Sara looks like she's waiting for some to jump out saying "April Fools!" After Vic/Emi leaves, Sara gets a call from an unknown number; it's Danilo, who doesn't say a word when she picks it up. Sara, enraged, says she knows it's him, Danilo, and if he doesn't talk now he'll never see her again. Dan, panicked, screams "NO!" and adds that he can't live without her. Sara has a flashback of their, uhh, "time together" and says she wants to see him. Vic/Emi calls Dan at that moment!
Addled is his usual sexist self talking about Flor with Fidel. Jenny arrives and asks them how come they came here, Addled says that he has heard the best and many people come to eat here... as he checks out Flor's backside when she bends. Jenny is disgusted but Addled just laughs and says something like "you know how I'm like". Flor goes to talk to Orlando and they're a bit warm-er than expected with each other. Jenny sees this and isn't happy about it. Addled gives his pathetic, unasked for advice to Jenny; men don't like jealous women, so if she doesn't trust Orlando she should find a way to get Flor away from him. Jenny just leaves and stands behind Orlando and Flor; after Flor goes to serve some table Jenny asks Orlando what they talked about. Orlando replies it was work stuff. Jenny doesn't buy it.
Vic/Emi, who has now called Gael, calms him down through the phone. She talks to an even more lagged Sara one last time before she and Aleida leave.
Gael is all smiley at the police station. Sebas asks him who was he talking to and he says to a friend. Sebas doesn't buy it and thinks it was Marijó; Gael pretends he admits it. Sebas tells him to go for it, it'll be different than last time. Gael doesn't really believe so, since they haven't got rid of Roberta. Vic/Emi sends a text to Gael with a location he should go to, warning him to be careful not to be seen. Gael says it's Marijó again.
Tigre has visited Zaira in prison. She tells him about the slap she got from Roberta, but quickly adds that it didn't hurt as much as the truths she (Zaira) told her. Tigre starts screaming.
Dan gives Vic/Emi a list of all the miners who work with Tigre. Vic/Emi is satisfied. The trio think about what they're going to do with Zaira. Vic/Emi suggests and they decide not to do anything for a while and to try to persuade Tigre to get back to work.
Zaira tells Tigre to shush, but too late; Ezequiel and the other cops have already come. Tigre screams that he's the guilty one and not Zaira. Ezequiel says that she has already plead guilty. Gael and Tigre aren't happy campers. Zaira tries to calm them down. Tigre promises he'll get her out ASAP. Zaira and some other prisoner pray.
Some happy, some sad, but all shocked faces - Part 2/4
Roberta gives Sara some advice of "how to keep your husband". "You need to spend more time with Leo", Rob says. Sara replies that he doesn't care. They both insist and Sara leaves. Marijó walks in with her luggage. Rob, angry, tells her she should have informed her beforehand. Mar replies that it's HER house too. Jo is extremely happy. Roberta, who's allergic to happiness of others, leaves.
Leo calls Vic/Emi, even though it's late at night. Vic/Emi says she hopes it's a work issue. Leo's tone states otherwise. Vic/Emi is cold towards him through the whole phone call. When she hangs up, Danilo and Aleida come and tell her it's late and she should go to sleep.
Sara walks in on Leo saying something like "why does it have to be so difficult" 3 seconds after the end of the phone call. He claims it's a "work issue", but NO ONE can be THAT stupid and buy it. Sara pretends she does, but it's clear she's only pretending.
It's the next day.
Jenny is still cold to Orlando. She says she wants him to fire Flor and asks him from where does she know her. He mumbles something about the police station. Jenny is angry.
Gael has arrived. Vic/Emi hugs him. She asks for a favor; she wants Tigre back in the mines. When Gael agrees and asks her what she wants to do, she says "justice".
Jo hugs Leo. Roberta's allergy shows when she bitterly asks them about it. Jo refers to Leo as "mi niño" (we could say "my baby") and Rob says that her baby is older that 30. Jo replies that he'll always be her baby. When Rob and Jo are left together, Rob tells her to stop having that stupid face and go do something productive. She leaves and Rob quickly calls Fidel and asks him to investigate Victoria Alcaraz. Fidel isn't too keen on doing that but Rob insists.
Míriam proves she's a strong candidate for the stupidity medal by telling Sebas she can talk to Addled to release Zaira. I mean, she has good intentions, but really now? Seb says no. He tells her he's looking for a job. Míriam tells me she thought he wanted to leave; he replies that yes, but now with the current situation he'll stay here. Míriam says it's unfair if he's the only one who works; she can find a job too. Sebas refuses and tells her to take care of the kid. He explains that he's not one of these men who don't want their woman to work; if things get though, she will work too. Míriam leans in for a kiss...
In the mines, Vic/Emi is by herself, talking out loud (not risky at all), saying this is for Ignacio, Emilia and for anyone who has been treated unfairly. Leo arrives, so do the other miners. Vic/Emi talks with passion, just like when she was the owner of La Gloria. Ramiro, the annoying miner, is pretty shocked to see her. He mumbles something about her that I didn't catch; Vic/Emi does though and says "what did you call me?" Leo takes Emi's side. The miners leave to start working. Vic/Emi grabs a drill and Leo goes closer to her to help her; of course Sara has to be walking IN the mines. Okay...
She's shocked to see "Victoria". Leo informs her about Vic/Emi's job there. Sara wants to work there again! Vic/Emi smiles and says it's a blessing to have a wife like her. He's not one of these men who don't want their woman to work, right? He says of course he isn't. Vic/Emi welcomes her to the company and leaves. Sara asks Leo what he thinks of "Victoria". He says she has a unique personality I think.
Some happy, some sad, but all shocked faces - Part 3/4
Seb pulls back and says he can't. Míriam is upset, I believe because she thinks he feels something for her. She pressures him more ("we can try it!" "I'll be so happy by your side!") until he leaves.
Someone knocks on Tigre's door. "It's open", he says. Roberta walks in and asks him if he wants to talk! Tigre replies they have nothing to talk about. Rob says he's wrong and mentions Zaira.
Gael asks Zaira how they're treating her. Zaira says that, weirdly enough, like a queen. I suspect Dan's call has something to do with it. I didn't catch most of their conversation, but they definitely mentioned Berta and how she didn't accept to clear Emilia's name.
Rob offers Tigre Zaira's release if he goes back to work. Tigre, being the selfish man he is, REFUSES and says he'll never work with them again. I mean, if this happened to me and I knew they really would release the person I love, I would do it for sure. Rob gives him some time to think about it.
Vic/Emi and Ramiro the miner have a disagreement on some mine-related thing. He's defeated at last and calls her Patrona. Vic/Emi says his name. Ramiro asks her how she knows it. She doesn't reply; instead she tells him not to call her Patrona, but Ingeniera (Engineer). He agrees, a bit creeped out.
Leo doesn't want Sara to work here. Sara doesn't want to stay at home. She asks him why he doesn't want her here. He finally says okay. Sara asks him to keep away from Victoria. Sure, they're both head engineers, it'll be easy peasy lemon squeezy! They have the world's most awkward kiss.
Orlando hugs Sebas. They're in the restaurant. Flor looks at them a bit... Weirdly?
Jo tells Mar she deserves her liberty. She asks Mar if she's planning on staying here and she says yes. She mentions her mother and her father and Jo quickly adds Gael.
Gael, meanwhile, is telling his mother that Tigre is searching for a lawyer to get her out of here. She gives him her blessing to work (in the mines, I assume?)
Leo arrives in the mines and says he can take it from here. "No" is Vic/Emi's reply; next time he should come sooner. Leo has that stupid in love face on. Oh no. (Okay and I just noticed that Emilia is wearing a black leather dress in the MINES. What is up with the dress code in this place? First, Leo entering shirtless, then random people entering with their everyday clothes, miners entering with no helmets and now Emilia entering with an EXPENSIVE DRESS?)
Tigre tells Gael about Rob's offer. Gael of course tells him to GO DO IT and manages to persuade him. Finally!
Dolores, the secretary is hired by Aleida? Or did I miss something? Anyway. Danilo shows Aleida their website statistics. It has many visits, so that must mean they're searching, but not to worry, he's a master of schemes. Al laughs and says that's hard to forget. Dan gets a message from Sara (we don't see what it is about). Al sees his face and warns him not to get in trouble; he swears he'll get in less trouble than she and Em together will. LOL He leaves her to look at the stats.
Some happy, some sad, but all shocked faces - Part 4/4
Seb informs Orlando that he hasn't married anyone; he still loves Emilia. (Leo, take notes.) Orlando tells Sebas to move on; Emilia's dead, she won't return (oh the irony) and life's short.
Fidel shows the search results to Roberta. "Everything is perfectly true", he says. Rob gets pissed when he adds she has brains and beauty and says everyone has their flaws; what about her personal life? Fidel tells her that's the interesting part; they couldn't find anything about it. He says she must be here for a certain reason. He says something else that I didn't catch because of the music. Ugh.
Dan arrives where Sara is and sits at her table. She smiles and laughs.
Tigre has decided to stop being a pain in the butt and get back to work. Leo greets him and Tigre informs him of his decision. Just then Victoria/Emilia gets out of the mines, laughing with the other miners. Tigre sees her and is shocked; Vic/Em stops laughing. "That's Emilia, my Emilia" mumbles Tigre after having a flashback of a mine scene with Em. Leo turns around to face her.
And with Tigre's shocked face, we have the Fin del Capítulo.
Liz, I'm glad you're watching! I'll be glad to read your comments whenever you're able to write them.
Thanks,Weirdo. It was all fine till we got to the 'you must feel something for me scene'. I don't know why it pissed me off so much. I think it's because Miriamresorted to similar pushing with Addled instead of cutting her losses and realising she was not going to get what she wanted. And shefirst talks only about herself:'I'm inlove'...'I feel safe'. Then it's like 'it would be good for you, too.' It feels like a repeat of her behaviour with Addled only now she has met a decent man. Then if,say, they got involved and Seb realised he couldn't love her, I have a feeling M would be as unhappy as Sara is. Can't they put Miriam and Leo together? Now that's an OTP.
So Leo would get involved with another woman I imagine. I know nothing's happened yet, but there's something about this character that makes me angry with him even when he does nothing very wrong/bad. Oh wait! That call! Is he supposed to be a victim here? A man unhappy in his marriage and thus all is justified
Zaira told Gael she thought Gigi made sure she was treated well...I can't watch people giving other people credit when they don't ddeserve it.
How is it that Marijo actually now can control her money? Roberta didn't try to get some illegal document that would let her keep control of the money? I guess she can't as M is of age now.
But Sebas and Miriam...I cannot. If she hadn't insisted, I might have been a bit happier with this future outcome.
I think Fidel told Roberta E is a millionaire and she didn't come here for what they can pay her. They need to find out what it is that she came here for.
Weirdo, this was wonderful. I hung on every well written word, the detail and insight you provided were exceptional.
So many witty lines but “Roberta, who's allergic to happiness of others,…” was my favorite.
“Danilo is on the phone with the annoying police woman, who's suddenly not-so-annoying” was perfect. I was having a difficult time with this scene as she had been so loathsome yet here, was being shockingly human! Seems Danilo is outside looking in on the inside and ensuring Zaira is being well taken care of!
I find Danilo the most intriguing character here. Who exactly is he? There is more to this swindler than meets the eye. How he came to be in the manicomio and how he came to be so embroiled in the central storyline fascinates me. I didn’t realize Danilo “…can’t live without her” but it seems that is the case. As he and Sara sat, it was clear they are in love. But now what??
When Miriam told Sebas “te quiero” in utter frustration, and when he pulled back from her kiss, I did feel badly. If Sebas can’t love her, (and I don’t think he can as he asked her to forgive him), he should leave. Being a protector, a friend and a confidante is fine if both feel the same, but that isn’t the case. He still wears his love for Emilia on his sleeve even though he believes her dead. Miriam has no chance against a dead Emilia, let alone a live Emilia.
Emilia made a rookie mistake calling Ramiro by his name. She has to be careful. Yes, I loved Emilia’s “minerwear” just ridiculous.
Flor definitely seemed interested in Sebas and Orlando’s conversation, likely wanting to report any juicy gossip to Fidel.
Orlando loves Jenny, I wish he would try and reassure her before she ruins their relationship with her paranoia and jealousy.
Weirdo, I was confused by Aleida hiring Dolores (actually, I’m not sure who she is)…
I realize I haven’t said a word about Leo. But really, what IS there to say?? As you smartly noted waterlily, “there's something about this character that makes me angry with him even when he does nothing very wrong/bad”. Bingo!!
Diana
It's a long time since I followed any TNs. I tried to start with Minas, but didn't keep up with it. I thought I might follow Vencer, but may have trouble keeping track of the characters.
I have some health issues (multiple myeloma-blood plasma cancer) so don't keep up with some of the things I used to. Hubby has transverse myelitis, is paralyzed from the waist down and in a wheel chair and/or walker. We're quite the pair.
I don't know what happened with Judy B? Would appreciate an update.
Wishing all of you a happy Thanksgiving.
Oh La Paloma, I am so sorry to hear about your and your husband's health issues. I will keep you both in my prayers.
Judy has also had health issues. The good news is that she is continuing to recover and is making slow but steady progress.
It's always hard to follow new TNs, especially when there are many characters, as there is in Vencer. I think most of us make a list of the characters. Knowing who the actors are actually helps me to keep track of their character.
I do hope you are able to watch when you are able. The Vencer series has been excellent and so far, Vencer La Culpa looks promising.
So good to see your comment; I hope you can continue to post when you are able.
Wishing you both the best....
Diana
Paloma, it is great seeing you on the patio again. I am sorry to hear that things have been so difficult. Wishing you and your husband the best.
Diana and Waterlily, thank you both for your comments!
Waterlily, thanks SO much for explaining these two scenes that confused me. I truly think you'd be an amazing recapper.
ITA about that Míriam scene. It low-key ruined the episode for me. She's very pushy and I think what pissed me off the most is that she acts as if they made some sort of "I will let you help me but we have to be together" deal with Sebas. This guy is sweet as a marshmallow and instead of being thankful he's helping her and being so supportive, she gets angry with him because he's not ready to be in a relationship. What a selfish person. I laughed at your suggestion to pair up Leo and Míriam. Better than Leo with Emilia!
I couldn't agree more with: " I know nothing's happened yet, but there's something about this character that makes me angry with him even when he does nothing very wrong/bad. Oh wait! That call! Is he supposed to be a victim here? A man unhappy in his marriage and thus all is justified"
Diana, the police woman being so human surprised me too!
I loved reading your paragraph about Danilo. "But now what??" summed up the Sara-Danilo situation perfectly. I just hope they don't redeem Sara in the end because she has caused more than enough harm.
Your thoughts on the Sebas-Míriam issue are interesting. I also think Sebas should leave since his help is being underappreciated.
Diana, maybe I misheard about Dolores, who btw is the woman who works in the mine company as a secretary, but I thought I heard Dolores thanking Aleida after Al said something about work and her house. There's a chance I misheard, because that part was pretty fast, but this is what is appeared like...
I loved "I realize I haven’t said a word about Leo. But really, what IS there to say??" Perfect!
La Paloma, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your and your husband's health issues. I hope you both recover fully and as fast as possible.
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it...
Weirdo....wowee wow ...thank you for describing every moment of this episode. I am so grateful because I couldn't watch , but I saw some photos .More later, just back from a weekend vaca , so I must scurry to get back on track. Susan
Susan
I enjoyed the recap so much, Weirdo, and I also enjoyed the comments .
Well, here are my two cents ....The writers have ruined the galan the same way the writers of " Invencible " ruined both possible galans David and Gael. They made Leo weak , morose, and ineffective . So far, they have made Sebas the good soul who is hopeless!y devoted to only Emilja and the person who tries to protect every person in his orbit . You dont stop loving someone after they are gone . Love is stronger than death . The person is gone but your love and devotion to them remains forever . We see that with Sebas. Miriam was a conniving manipulator and does not deserve this good guy .
Danilo has many of the traits we see in Sebas . He has been a true friend to Em and Aleida. I thought he was falling in love with Em, but for some reason , the writers have made him smitten with Sara after just two bunny hopping sessions . Why? I cannot see it .I would like to have seen a May Dec romance bloom between Dan and Aleida . They both deserve a loving relationship , but the writers will put Dan and Sara together because of their little girl and Sara will magically become a nice person. Bah. meh. I do not like Sara.
Jenny is a whiny, jealous, boring sad sack. Orlando might be happier with Flor .
Leo and Em will end up together . meh . I like Oswaldo , and he has done his best with what these writers gave him which wasn't much . Livia Brita always seems brital and cold to me no matter what words and actions writers give her . I just never buy her as the goodhearted leading lady . She always looks angry and annoyed to me. JMHO. Susan
La Paloma, I'm so sorry about you and your husband's health challenges. I hope you're both feeling better soon. Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you are.
Susan, thanks for your comment! I hope you enjoyed your weekend vacation.
I nodded irl at your comments about Leo. I would have loved to see the writers make Leo have the behaviour of Sebas. Leo has annoyed me so much I'm starting to think he deserves Sara.
I never thought of Dan and Aleida being together, but I like it! It would have been unexpected and something new. Already knowing the endgame couples makes me lose a bit of interest.
I feel like I have to say that the OG Sara and the OG Danilo were a couple, but at the end; they didn't know each other until they both wanted to separate the main couple - "Sara" because she liked the galán and "Dan" because he liked the prota. I assume that's why they have this pairing here. It made more sense with the way it was written in the OG. Here it's just Dan falling for Sara for absolutely no reason and staying with her despite having his child and saying it's Leo's. Okay... I don't understand why we have to forgive everything Sara has done? Because she's "unhappy"? Well, sorry, but this was her desicion. I can't feel sympathy for her.
I'm also not a fan of Livia. I have liked her in some scenes in this one, but she isn't one of my faves overall.
My fur daughter is not feeling well and I'm trying to get ready for family coming for Thanksgiving.
I will do a recap for tonight. I will have to see how tomorrow and Wednesday go...
No show on Thursday...
