THE HIGHLIGHT (for me at least): Paloma's boss congratulates the whole office on the fact that Grupo Imperio, the gigantor hotel corporation, accepted their campaign. He singles out Paloma for her creative contribution that made all the difference. In case you forgot or never knew, Grupo Imperio was the hotel corporation in "Por ella soy Eva." I love when the powers that be be at Televisa try to make connections between their novelas. BTW, Franco has to admit that Paloma was a great leader on the project even though there are some things she still could improve on ( LOL ) but insists on toasting her for a job well done! He seems to be thawing out.
Poor Manuela has a bad episode. She asks to see the photo of Amanda's son and family. Amanda shows her and says that her daughter-in-law say that her marriage is going better than ever!! Manuela comes home to the family along with Leandro all waiting of her to celebrate Julia's win. Leandro recognizes, in front of the family, what a great job Manuela has done as a mother. When Leandro leaves, Manuela tells him that she knows he is not getting a divorce. He is the same like he was 15 years ago. He insists he has been telling her the truth and blames her for causing this whole mess because she never told him that she was pregnant. He gets angry and grabs her arm. She notices. He is going to make up for all of the time he missed with Julieta. Manuela tells her mother that she was falling for Leandro all over again but now realizes that he is still the same old liar. She feels nothing for him. At the end of the episode, she is fired from her university teaching job because of missing classes, students complaints and being late. She tries to explain that everyone was notified to no avail. Bummer.
Yaneli loses her scholarship. She goes to give her special presentation and cannot get seeing her brother mistreating Dulce out of her mind. She has a panic attack. The principal and her teacher have no further patience for her. Sad.
Amanda confronts Leandro about him covering for his father and his lover and child coming to see him at the hospital. Leandro apologizes and says he will not do that again. Amanda thanks God that Leandro didn't turn out like his father. Enrique comes by the pet shop so Amanda can go with him to pick up his dog. He makes it clear he is interested in her. Sweet!
Lorena's son refuses to believe that his grandma mixed up the pills and tells her so. Leandro overhears him, loses it and screams at him that he only has one job: to study. He warns Lorena to stay out of his father's personal life. He adds that she is into gossip because her own life is so empty. Leandro was so nasty!!
Pedro doesn't want to see Nancy at his home after her robbing money from the company. Camrina tries to defend her sister. Pablo will be going back to Mexico City to look for his son. Carmina doesn't know why since he hired a detective. He still wants a divorce. She begs him to think of Pablito. He says he will be staying in the guest room permanently. Good idea!
Having perfected our disguise, we spend our lives searching for someone we don’t fool – Robert Brault
We return to the final scene of last evening where Emilia is clearly uncomfortable as she struggles to answer Sebas’ question. Yes, I have a son she admits. Does he have a father Sebas asks? I believe she says no and gently tells him she doesn’t want to discuss personal issues.
Sebas apologizes. After she leaves, Sebas stares intently. He struggles with present events that bear striking similarities to the past. Confused and conflicted, Sebas grapples with trying to make sense of what he has seen and heard. He shakes his head, trying to dismiss his thoughts, deeming it impossible.
The evil triumvirate, Roberta, Fidel and Addled drink wine from fine crystal, discussing the restaurant turning into the bar, and Addled salivating over Victoria. Truly cringeworthy.
Jenny arrives to a table covered in rose petals and lit candles. Orlando welcomes her home with a smile that would break any mortal woman’s heart, “I love you” he murmurs. He tells her she is his future and they kiss. He hugs her protectively and tenderly.
Gael and Emilia text, they will meet at her mother’s house. They celebrate her birthday with a small cake with one candle as he sings happy birthday.
Sara is applying makeup as Leo stands not listening, in a trance. Nico and Leo talk about Emilia, Leo tells him Emilia is in his heart.
Orlando and Jenny continue their love fest the next day. Later, they discuss doctors but Orlando makes it clear he is going to respect whatever Jenny decides. More kisses ensue.
Sebas drives Emilia to Roberta’s. Gifts are removed from the trunk. Nico is delighted to see them both.
You don’t need an invitation Roberta semi-smiles to Emilia, this is your home. When Emilia produces a bottle of wine, Leo comments that it is from Spain, Ignacio’s favorite. There is a ten-foot doll for Romina for which she smiles sweetly. We don’t actually see Nico’s gift but he seems to love it.
Marijo’s rival (does anyone know her name??) is having a large breakfast in the kitchen, courtesy of Joaquina. She is very expressive and eats with her mouth full 😊. Marijo comes in and Joaquina starts to make the introductions but there is no need, they are already well acquainted! All of a sudden, Roberta flies in on her broom and with the utmost disdain asks who this person is…
Diana
The most touching moment of the evening occurs when Sebas calls Nico over to him. He hands Nico the gold cross and chain that was Emilia’s. The look on Emilia’s face reflects an overwhelming sense of pain. And love. Eyes are misting all around, Sebas is on the verge and at the other end of the table, Leo also looks teary eyed. Emilia speaks lovingly to her son as her heart is surely breaking. She gets up and leaves abruptly.
Roberta is livid at the interloper and wants her to leave despite Joaquina’s pleas. Surprisingly, Marijo intervenes saying this is her house too and the girl can stay. Roberta seems a bit impressed with Marijo taking such a stance and agrees but tells Marijo she is her responsibility. She tries to thank Roberta who practically shoves her away. The young woman is very grateful to Marijo and now she thinks she and Marijo are besties.
Leo chases Victoria, asking if she is all right. Yes she lies. Sebas and Nico share a hug as do Nico and Leo.
Tigre talks to Emilia’s picture, illuminated by a lit candle. His face mirrors the love and pain of missing his beloved daughter. He cries and bows his head. Gael comes in and comforts him. Zaira comes in with a lovely bouquet of flowers, brightly colored, impossibly beautiful gerbera daisies…
“Mamita happy birthday” Nico says as he and Leo sit at Emilia’s grave. He fingers his necklace as he and Leo lovingly put their hands on her gravestone. Leo prays to his mother.
Sebas and Emilia are back at work. He starts asking her about relatives in Spain which she manages to sidestep.
Gigi is having a meeting at her house when Roberta shows up wanting to speak to her alone. I couldn’t follow what Roberta wants her to do.
Gael takes Tigre to Jacinto’s. Did someone pay the rest of what he owes or was it something else?
At work, Sara seems annoyed Nico is there. She wants to see Leo in her office. Emilia is delighted to see Nico.
Leo tells Sara today is difficult for both he and Nico.
Nico, sporting a hard hat seems to have had a great time with Emilia. Gael accompanies Tigre and Nico runs to him saying “abuelo”.
Emilia is at her own grave and tenderly picks up the card Nico left her. All of a sudden Sebastian appears. “Victoria, what are you doing here” he queries.
And with that, we end.
Diana
Jarifa, thank you for your marvelous recap; perfectly descriptive as always.
I completely melted at the Pomeranian’s dearest, sweetest little face! What a love.
Leandro’s best defense is a blistering offense. Blaming Manuela for not telling him she was pregnant and viciously attacking Lorena by telling her she has an empty life? Deny and attack. Manuela now knows everything and is SO done with him. Ordinarily, this would be the end of it but I fear Julieta is going to blame Manuela and Leandro is just not going to go away.
Yaneli’s scene was very powerful. I thought the actress did an incredible, believable job; her panic attack seemed all too real. We knew Genaro had manhandled Dulce, raising his fist in fury, almost hitting her. But in the scene with Yaneli, it appears he does hit her in the flashback or am I wrong? Very unnerving.
It was nice to see Paloma get the credit she deserves.
If Pedro is going back to Mexico City, it must mean that he either doesn’t believe the detective or is going to follow his own instinct. In any case, I’m glad he isn’t going to Canada on a wild goose chase.
Diana
Diana, Thanks so much. I thought you said you'd only put highlights? And that's a full recap!
Apparently Fidel offered Added and Roberta to be his partners because he sellsparadise and happiness in little envelopes'. He says something along those lines when Roberta comments that she can't see him being in charge of a place like that restaurant/bar. But he doesn't ask them to invest anything somehow.
Emilia tells Aleida she can't believe Leo doubts her still and that Sebas is the only one who really loves her. She wishesshe had fallen in love with him. Aleida says Leo's heart is poisoned. E says and he has a weak mind too. Ijust really wanted her to finally recognise how much Sebas loved her. Leo seems to be in his own head and has probably been there for the last four years. I wouldn't mind it at all if he didn't keep telling everyone how much he loved E.
Galletana (I'm not sure about spelling) is that girl's name. Apparently her father wanted her to marry some guy and when she refused he threw her out of the house. I've just read about arranged marriages for little girls. In Latin America the situation hasn't improved for the last 25 years.
Gael tells E about his father's debt so she tells him she'll sort it out. She does because they learn her company paid his debt.
Roberta doesn't want Gigi to accept Victoria into that women's society or whatever it is they have. I love how despite having so many problems with the mine, she still has time to worry about someone stealing her crown. She tells Gigi that if she isn't with her, she is against her and it's better for her if she obeys.
Sebas had such a lovely scene with Nico. Are they really going to give E to Leo just because?
Aleida commented Danilo hasn't left his room and is odd. She better tell E he fancies Sara before their plan explodes into a thousand pieces.
Nico is completely different in this episode. I can't believe Roberta's presence changes him as if with a wave of a wand. I still find this odd because he hasn't lived with her for these four years.
Waterlily: Bold Prediction: Danilo will end up destroying the 3 Amigos' revenge plans just mark my words!
Emilia & Adelia need to remain FOCUSED on the revenge plans on their own together..
Diana, wowee wow ..thank you for that amazing, detailed recap . It was a delightful accompaniment to my Cheerios and coffee this a.m. as every scene unfolded in my mind's eye .What a morning pleasure you provided.
Your words were gold , and " impossibly beautiful" struck me as you described the colorful daisies ,and they magically appeared in my mind.
Loved the quote, and I will share one with you " Grief is unfinished love." That is a short sentiment that I think describes what all those who loved Em are feeling .
Rob sweeping in on her broom made me laugh. There is a very funny book called " Room on the Broom" that I used to read to my lovies . From now on, I will always see Rob as that witch on her broom.
Seb Is so close to having an epiphany regarding Victoria actually being Em. And wow...Em is aware that she should want Seb who has been hopelessly devoted to her all this time and still carries her in his heart and mind . A relationship doesn't end when that beloved person is gone if the love is deep and everlasting . The person continues to live in the hearts of guides who love him\her.
Hmmm...who is this new girl , and why is she suddenly at Rob's and ano is feeding her?
OT...waterlily, I hope that you are improving day by day . Susan
P.s. Dan....stay in your room....and away from toxic Sara. You can do so much better. Al is already your dear friend and could be a great mate. Just saying .... Susan
Diana, yes, that portrayal of a panic attack was so realistic. Romina Poza is doing an excellent job. I cannot fault the acting in this novela. I just keep waiting for something more to happen. We don’t need one more scene of that louse Everardo being rude to Amanda. We need more of the cute puppies with Amanda and Enrique.
Anyway, back to Dulce’s disappearance. The video showed Genaro going into the building with Dulce and only him leaving. What if Dulce was accosted by somebody who was already in/lived in the building?
Thank you Waterlily! I (mistakenly) thought there was going to be more in the final scene between Sebas and Em at her grave so thought I should/needed to do a full recap. Looks like whatever explanation Em gives for her being there will happen tonight.
Thank you for adding your so important details! I just loved “he sells paradise and happiness in little envelopes”. Perfect! In the scene where Addled, Roberta and Fidel discussential restaurant partnership, Roberta threw in a disgusted “taco” remark. Obviously she has no idea what good food is.
“Emilia tells Aleida she can't believe Leo doubts her still and that Sebas is the only one who really loves her. She wishes she had fallen in love with him”. I was furiously typing and this scene flew by so really appreciate your translation. I am also glad Emillia realizes Sebas’ true feelings, but as we knew, she just (sadly) is not in love with him. Que lastima.
I agree with you that it’s puzzling (and a bit alarming) Aleida has said nothing to Emilia about her suspicions about Danilo and Sara. This could be a disastrous omission.
Hope you feel a bit better everyday Waterlily. Thank you for all of your fantastic contributions.
Diana
Thank you for your oh so kind and lovely words Susan!
“Grief is unfinished love” is beautiful and poignant and speaks to what you feel in your own heart amiga. “The person continues to live in the hearts of guides who love him\her” is perfectly reflective.
Emilia does love Sebas, but in the deepest depths of friendship. If only minds could make hearts do their bidding.
Galletana (thank you Waterlily) is the young woman who appeared out of nowhere and befriended Gael, much to Marijo’s consternation. I’m not clear as to how she ended up at Roberta’s but it seems she is staying, at least for the time being. I have wondered if her appearance is as innocent as it seems, or if all this transpired by design.
Diana
Jarifa, I think Genaro is definitely guilty of abuse but am conflicted and uncertain as to what extent (if any) he is involved in Dulce's disappearance.
I think whatever happened to Dulce is far more complex. She must have seen or know something that is a threat to someone. If it is anyone we've seen thus far, I haven't picked up on any clues.
I am in complete agreement, no more Everardo!!
Dogs = happiness. Whether it's at the shelter or as "customers" in the shop, bring them on! Oh, and yes, much more Amanda and Enrique 😊
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa, we are now seeing a very unlikable Leandro. I guess I should say Gabe, as I’ve only see him play good guys. But he was nasty to Manuela and Lorena. He was nice to his mother but I couldn’t believe how he lied to her. I hate for her to find out the truth. I didn’t realize Leandro called his wife a gossip. I guess because she told her mother-in-law what Leandro had told her.
Oops, he was also mean to his son, for pointing out the truth!
Julieta is going to be more unlikable, if that’s possible, as she annoys her mother over her dad. Manuela will have to eventually tell her the truth. Still hoping wife and girlfriend get together and plot something.
How awful for Yaneli to lose her scholarship. It seems like they brought up the stolen laptop, but she was innocent in that so why use that as a reason to take away the scholarship. And now Manuela has lost one of her jobs.
I hate seeing Amanda’s ex be so mean to her. Enrique is so charming. I can’t wait to see this friendship develop.
Liz
Thanks Diana, great recap of the events. And thank you, Waterlily, for filling in conversations. I hope you are healing well. I’ve always heard burns are the most painful injury.
It was good to see Nico more like the boy he used to be. What a touching scene when Sebastian gave him his mothers cross. I think Sebastian is getting suspicious. In the mine she used the word Sebastian used to call Nico. And he caught it. I hope he finds out it’s Emilia tonight. He can keep a secret and would be a good ally. I think Danilo is becoming a danger to their plans. He doesn’t know he can’t trust Sara, especially with the things he knows.
So Leo still thinks Emilia was a little crazy, and maybe guilty of the explosion. He is really naive where his mother is concerned. He has no idea of her cruelty. I wonder if Joaquina has an idea of the extent of Roberta’s cruelty. We know she knows she killed Ignacio. So I guess she does.
I felt so sorry for Tigre last night. I’m anxious for him to find out Victoria is Emilia. But someone said Zaria will realize it. I wonder how long before they meet. I can’t remember exactly what that one card she read said, someone being reborn or something.
Liz
Dear Jarifa, thank you , amiga, for another we wonderful report in all the drama.I was watching " Por Eva Soy Ella" for awhile ( mostly to see my old movie Marcelo ), but I didn't realize the company name was the same. I guess some of these writers like to throw in a few Easter eggs like the pear robe!!!
I guess Leo sees himself as a real legend of a womanizer and Manuela is a true challenge that he just will not give up on. Uff . Hombres like Leo and his dreadful dad are sad excuses for men .
Lots of mysteries with two missing persons somewhere out there in the world . It seems that Pablo must not believe the detective's story that his son went to Canada . hmmmm ...why? Maybe he doesn't want to have to invest in a Northface jacket, boots, gloves and a good , warm scarf .
Students usually get warnings before they lose a scholarship. Poor Yaneli was trying to improve her life. Now what ?
Susan
I just wanted to add that Galletana is the daughter of Joaquina's best friend andI got the impressionthat Joaquina promised her to get a job. I actually can't believe she didn't ask Roberta if she'd employ her before the girl showed up. The answer most probably would have been no but I just felt so sorry for the girl having to listen to Roberta's horrible insults. It's her father's fault for putting her in this situation and on the top of this she has to deal with the witch.
Thanks, everyone, for your kind wishes. I do feel slightly better. Burns are definitely awfully painful. Well, I get to put something on my list of 'I thought this was the worst that could happen'.
Thank you so much Liz!
I enjoyed and agree with all of your intuitive observations.
Yes, Sebas would be an excellent ally! Not to mention dependable and loyal.
I felt terrible for Tigre too last night; I was worried Gael would tell him but he kept the secret. Good point about Zaira's prediction and you're right, she hasn't met Victoria yet, has she?
I wonder if Leo will be the last to find out Victoria is Emilia? Somehow, that might be very fitting.
Nico is much better out of brat mode. Sebastian loves him so much!
Can't wait til tonight!
Diana
Waterlily, thank you for explaining how Galletana ended up at Roberta's! That was a total mystery to me.
Sending you all the best that you heal as quickly as possible.
Diana
Gracias, Jarifa. Again you nail it.
Now we see Leandro is as awful as his father.
Loved Leandro have a very bad day but not him turning cruel to his wife.
I'm liking Manuela more now that she's told Leandro her interest is only in Julieta getting to know her father.
Tough to watch a teen having a panic attack and the teacher doing nothing to soothe her.
Time for things to move along with whatever Genaro did with Dulce. Yaneli can't confront him, so who will?
Gracias, Jarifa.
I hope Manuela doesn't lose her resolve. It's obvious that Leandro is incapable of love and relationships are only a game to him. Julieta is going to be in for a very rude awakening about him. Considering what a spoiled brat she is I won't give a damn.
Yaneli needs a break. Losing her scholarship could wreck her life completely. I hope Genaro doesn't find out abut this before she has a new plan.
Please, writers, fewer bratty kids and more adorable dogs.
When did Enrique's wife die? His daughter is so out of line about Amanda.
We go ambling along . . .
Manuela haș a hard episode once again. Unfortunately, Leandro has connections and he is the one who is responsible for her being fired. Her boss offers her a sub position at the university take it or leave it. At home, her brat of a daughter is not happy that her mother told her that she will not be getting back with Leandro because she no longer loves him. The brat pushes Manuela until she tells her that her father is still married and has no plans on getting divorced. The brat throws a mega tantrum. Little does Manuela know is that Leandro has told the brat that her mother is so upset because his ex-wife has gotten involved. He asks the brat to help him out. She will do whatever he wants. At the end, Leandro has gone to see Manuela and the brat is braking beakers in the science lab at school with a bat. At least she had enough sense to wear safety goggles.
Yaneli finds support with Amanda. Genaro is at first angry that she lost the scholarship but later all is forgiven and he will make sure she can stay at her private school. He wants her the the first from the family to go to university.
Everardo is peeved that Leandro has involved him in covering up what his relationship is with Manuela and Julieta. He fears it will put his chances with Amanda in jeopardy.
Pablito asks his parents what is wrong with him after another episode of back pain. Pablo explains that he could have a kidney disease and says they are waiting for the diagnosis to be confirmed. Pablo assures his son that they will do whatever they need to help him.
Manuela finally contacts Lorena. Lorena agrees to come for a therapy session with Manuela. After Leandro mistakenly sends Lorena a text intended for Julieta, she realizes that her husband has a child by another woman. I cannot wait until she sits down with Manuela.
Pablo talks to the detective and is not happy that he found out about his son supposedly leaving Mexico for Canada from a passenger list and not from his passport. Pablo has two cell phone/ numbers for his missing son. He goes to see somebody who can trace the numbers. The first phone never left Mexico City and has not been used since a year ago. The second phone/number was never used outside of Guadalajara. Good for Pablo!
Franco suggests that he and Paloma go out for a coffee during the workday. He needs a break. A the café, she sees her ex Walter. She gets up to confront him and he runs. She trips and falls. She ends up telling Franco all about Walter. He seems to be sincerely interested but later he is harassing her and a workmate for gosipping too much and not working enough. This is all too weird for me.
Amanda and Enrique seem to be getting along just fine.
Jarifa, thank you for getting to the heart of the matter of each of these dramatic storylines so cleverly and completely.
Amanda and Enrique light up the screen by their mere presence. I loved him trying to sneak a peek at her phone when Everardo called. He is so smitten. The electric current they felt when their hands touched. I could watch them all night.
Pablo's looking into his son's phones was a smart move. I hate that sweet Pablito is ill.
As for the polar opposite of sweet, Manuela's "brat of a daughter" is unbearable and unwatchable. She is spiraling out of control with Leandro aiding and abetting her. Like father, like daughter. However is Manuela going to rein her in??
I feel for Yaneli and hope she is able to stay in school. Genero frightens me.
Paloma is a bit quirky but rather sweet at times. Franco is just odd; I’m not really feeling his character.
Leandro cuts to the quick as evidenced by the way he threw the flowers on the floor, angered by Lorena. Lorena’s eyes are being opened. She can’t shut them and pretend nothing is amiss. She is clearly far too good for Leandro.
Diana
Diana: Spoiled Brat will become more uglier as this Telenovela drags out.
Lorena better dump Creepy Leandro ASAP & I doubt Manuela will reign in Spoiled Brat.
PS: Why do I get the feeling that Televisa has more VENVCER installments cooking up soon ?
Diana: You're doing the recap of last night's episode ?
Doubling-down on Dumbass Danillo destroying the 3 Amigos' revenge plans because of his obsession over Crazy Whacky Blonde Sara, etc.,
If I was the director, I would have both Dumbass Danillo & Crazy Whacky Blonde Sara going to Spain & NEVER coming back.
Thanks, Jarifa, a good morning read. And I always learn some plot twists that I just didn’t get in Spanish!
Leandro is getting lower and lower. Does he hope by losing her job she’ll turn to him! And by making a bratty child even brattier. I’m guessing it’s so Manuela will decide she needs a father. But I’m thinking he doesn’t realize she’s posting stuff that his wife is reading! I’m now hoping his kids go to the same school and they’ll meet. I’d like to see Julieta realize she’s being used.
I know Everado wants Amanda to care for him but does he want her back now that he’s too old to cheat on her. I love Amanda and Enrique, romance is in the air!
Franco is strange. But Paloma running and shouting at Walter was a little odd! I would have walked up to him quietly and then told him off!
I’m glad Yaneli will be able to stay in school. But Genaro was a little scary. He has a temper but this is the first time I’ve seen him angry at his sister.
I’m glad Pablo went somewhere else after talking to the detective. I didn’t understand those conversations at all so grateful for the recap!
Liz
Thanks, Jarifa.
He fears it will put his chances with Amanda in jeopardy.
Yikes, Everardo is plum clueless if he thinks his foul treatment of Amanda will make her want him again. I fear for what he will do about Enrique when he finds out she's made a new friend.
I need to see the school authorities making Julieta clean up the mess she made. Of course she should get expelled.
Yay, Pablo wises up. But will he fire the PI who didn't take basic steps about Damian's phone use?
Loved the comments, everyone.
I have high hopes for Lorena even though it may take time for her to be able to realize what a lying slime ball her hubby is. I cannot even begin to imagine how that is all going to play out with Manuela and Amanda. As Diana said, "She is clearly far too good for Leandro." He almost seems worse than his father. HIs father's honest about who he is.
Somehow, I am not enjoying the comedy of Paloma and Franco. I still do not trust her parents. The Paloma plot line isn't as funny as I think they intended.
As for Julieta, she was a brat from the get go. No surprises with that one. Seems like Manuela never told her NO!
It was a step forward for Pablo when he had the phones' calls traced. As Niecie said "Yay, Pablo wises up. But will he fire the PI who didn't take basic steps about Damian's phone use?" I hope so.
The ONLY bright spot is Amanda and Enrique . Thanks, Liz for " I love Amanda and Enrique, romance is in the air!"
Here is hoping for some movement in the plot lines this next week.
Worrying for death is a game for two - Part 1/2
We begin with the last scene of the previous episode; Sebas asking Victoria what she's doing there.
Leo thinks back to a scene with young Nico and Joaquina at Emi's grave. Marijó walks in and sees his bad mood. Leo admits he's like this because it would have been Emi's birthday; Mar says she misses her too. She tries to cheer him up by telling him how good he is at many things and mentions the flowers he sent to Sara. Leo asks her what flowers is she talking about, he didn't sent any flowers!
Sebas can't believe what he's seeing. Victoria decides to tell him the truth; "It's me, Sebas. It's me, I'm Emilia". Sebas still can't believe it but gets convinced as Emi talks to him more. Their tears turn into laughs and hugs quickly; they both missed their best friend.
Sara admits to Jenny it was Danilo who sent her the flowers. Jenny screams at her that she's crazy, he's a criminal and that he kidnapped Sara! Sara quickly says it was a plan to get him to escape her father. Jenny advises her to forget Danilo and stop cheating on Leo. Sara says she feels like a woman when she's with Dan. They both agree on not telling him anything about Romina being his daughter; which is pretty funny considering Sara was about to a few episodes ago. Oh and Jenny adds that Sara should keep Leo away from Victoria. Really now? Jenny thinks she can give relationship advice?
Leo tries to fish information out of Marijó, who keeps trying to change the subject; Leo is suspicious as Marijó tells him more about the flowers. There was also a weird convo between them, Leo apparently doesn't want Mar to work in the mines. They decide on giving Mar a administration job and something about Gael I didn't understand. So, he's snobbing the miners when his supposed great love was one?
Em says she wants to take back everything they took from her and to do justice. Sebas agrees to help Emilia, Aleida and Danilo. They tell him about Al being Orlando's mother.
Flor has second thoughts about Fidel's plan. Unfortunately she says she'll do anything he and Addled say at the end.
Patricio is suspicious of the contract. Roberta pretty much tells him she's La Patrona and she decides. Out of the blue, she gets a message from Addled, inviting her to a dinner in Victoria's honor; Roberta gets VERY pissed at this.
Ezequiel the cop visits Orlando in his restaurant/bar; I think Fidel has some shady business going on and wants to use Orlando's place to keep something, but I might be mistaken. If I understood this correctly, Orlando succumbed to their wishes. Why?
At Roberta's, there's a birthday party for Emilia! Sara whines to Leo about it. I was about to feel bad for her but then I remembered she knew what she was getting into. Leo questions her about the flowers. Whoops.
Gael is walking with that Cayetana gal. Zaira sees them and invites her to dinner. After she leaves, Gael says he didn't want Zaira to invite her to eat because Marijó might find out or something?
The friends celebrate Emi's birthday! Emilia is sad that Nico isn't here with her. She gets a text from Addled about the party he's preparing for her. Sebas says that he's asco, disgusting and Emi agrees, but tells them the best thing she can do is go.
Sara makes up THE most ridiculous excuse she could have; she says SHE sent the flowers TO HERSELF to make Leo jealous in order for him to notice her. For whatever reason, Leo looks like HE ACTUALLY BUYS IT.
Worrying for death is a game for two - Part 2/2
Míriam is jealous of Victoria because Sebas spends so much time with her, ugh. Sebas convinces her there's nothing going on and promises that everything will be better with time for them and for everyone. Míriam looks confused. I guess Sebas didn't tell her anything about Vic being Em because she told him the people who know are in danger; or because she'd get more jealous; or both.
Leo plays dad to Nico - I'm sorry, but after betraying Emi I can't see the good-hearted galán they want us to. Nico knows Sara doesn't love him; I think Leo says it's not true blah blah and that he should treat people like his mom, Emilia. Nico talks about the game Victoria bought him, it's the same his mom told him she'll work hard to buy. He adds that when he's with Victoria, he feels like he's with his mom.
The next day; Sara shows Leo some progress reports about the company. Vic enters and asks to see them. Sara doesn't want to but Leo does. Finally, Emi pretends to agree with Sara that it's best to see them afterwards and announces that she'll be a new socia, business partner, of the mine. Sara has a "just my luck" face.
Cayetana is making some food with Joaquina when she gets a message from Gael who's inviting her to eat out. She gets very excited and tells Jo and Mar, who has just arrived, about it. She FINALLY says his name, Gael and Joaquina freezes. Cayetana asks Mar if she would like to make her some food for later; Mar is actually very rude to her and leaves. Cayetana says that she thinks Mar doesn't like her (no le caigo bien, which I'm positive literally translates to "I don't fall well on her". Spanish is weird.) I can't stop laughing at Joaquina's face.
Sara freaks out because no one, not even Leo, notified her. Roberta arrives and pretty much tells her to calm down. Sara leaves.
There's a school scene with Nico, but it was so short I didn't catch it.
Joaquina tells Cayetana that Marijó and Gael were dating.
Gigí learns about the party for Victoria. She wants to be there but Addled refuses and says, I think, to watch her behaviour if she wants to be invited. Gigí murmurs something about the devil, el chamuco, which is a nice easter egg from La Patrona; the protagonista's father had spread a rumor about the land he owned, that el chamuco lived there, to keep people away from it.
Victoria, Aleida, Roberta, Sebas, Leo and Patricio are all gathered. Victoria and Roberta sign the papers and are now officially socias. Champagne is brought in and Victoria toasts to the dead and talks about justice. Roberta notes that she acts as if they're responsible for the deaths of the dead. Vic says no and talks about Mau and Ignacio; that causes Roberta to drop the subject.
Míriam gets her kid (Andrés?) to school. A teacher, I assume, asks her if there should be some sort of change in the documents because the kid claims Sebastián Martínez is his father. "Of course he could have imagined it", she adds. Um, no? Míriam quickly says no and she'll bring in some papers. Two women gossip about Andrés being Addled's and Míriam puts them in their place.
Before Roberta gets up and leaves, Victoria tells her there's another things that needs to be signed; she added a clause, I think, about the life insurance thing. If I understood correctly, in case of one's death, the other will get the insurance money? trust fund? One of the two.
And with Roberta's sceptical look, we have the Fin del Capítulo.
Weirdo, thank you for another outstanding recap! I fell asleep toward the end so appreciate your very fine, wry details.
I so enjoyed all the vocabulary, especially el chamuco and no le caigo bien!
There were two heart wrenching scenes that were perfectly played. When Emilia told Sebas who she was, the overwhelming relief and pure joy on his face had me in tears. An unbreakable bond. When Emilia and Sebas sat with Aleida and Danilo, we were watching a family, not of blood, but of love, trust and true camaraderie. Gripping and powerful. Carlos Gatica was amazing.
Gigi should leave Addled. Immediately. How dare he keep her down and worse, how dare she allow it.
Sara saying she sent the flowers to herself was very clever.
Am I correct in that now, both Victoria and Roberta get the other’s share of the mine if one of them perishes??
Diana
Dear Diana, thank you for your comment!
I agree about Carlos Gatica. He deserves a galán role. He played his role perfectly in scene in which he recognised Emilia.
Gigí's storyline doesn't make much sense to me. I thought she was going to dump stupid Addled but then the writers decided to make her stay with him... Why?
I still think Sara's excuse is ridiculous. Maybe it's clever exactly because it's so ridiculous; someone might think "it's so ridiculous it can't be fake". Although I have to admit that she is very sly; how on earth did she think of that so fast?!
Yes, I think you're correct about Victoria and Roberta! That's what I understood too. :)
Whenever Gigi seems on the verge of breaking out on her own away from Addled's insipid shadow, he pulls her back in! Kind of like the Godfather! :) So frustrating Weirdo.
Yes, Sara is quick when cornered. I actually know someone who sent flowers to herself hoping it would make her partner jealous. If he noticed the flowers, he never said a word! What a waste of money.
Emilia is taking a huge chance but no risk, no gain...Fight fire with fire, right?
I will put something up for Monday's epi.
Diana
Weirdo, thank you for bringing us every moment . You made each scene play out in my imagination.
I did see photos of the scene with Seb and Em and Dan and Aleida Loved it. Those two couples should be end game ....but I know they won't be .
Evidently the writers know the song " Flowers" by Miley Cyrus in which the singer is ditching her novio and she says " I can send myself flowers.....". Susan
Thanks, weirdo. I was wondering what the chimuco was and thought I must have misheard.
I think in the school scene Nico was asked if he would fear sleeping in the mine at night. Want to guess what he said? That he isn't affraid of anything and that his abuela is the owner, which of course would frighten any ghosts. I mean, they care a lot about who the property belongs to. Maybe they only go for tourists?
After that scene with E and Seb, I am so sad he isn't the galan here.
Sara is not just mean, she has no conscience. She felt a pang of guilt at one point so I was hoping she might become more tolerable, but no. But she must have known Leo well to know he'd marry her if she plainly gave him an ultimatum. I can't believe that after all this she is like 'I'm unhappy therefore I'm entitled to get another 'man' subsscription as I didn't like the first one.'
Thanks, Weirdo, great recap. The scene with Emilia and Sebas was so touching. Wouldn’t it be great if the writers decided they should be a couple. I don’t care for Leo or Miriam. Sara and Leo deserve each other, just because Leo is clueless and in denial about everything.
So in addition to his father Orlando is also being betrayed by Flor. I hope he finds out about his mother soon. He can join the revenge team. But I don’t trust him not to tell the two woman in his life. And I don’t trust either of them!
I thought they already had the death clause in the contract. If one dies, the other owns it all. So I don’t understand what Victoria added.
Liz
Thanks to everyone for their comments!
Diana, I thought the flower excuse was a telenovela thing, weird that it has happened in real life. Waste of money indeed. These tricks don't work.
Thank you for recapping today's episode! I'll do my usual Friday and maybe Thursday if I have spare time.
Susan, I laughed at the song. I also hope Emi ends up with Sebas and Al with Dan make an interesting couple. Sad it won't come true.
Waterlily, thanks for explaining the school scene. ITA about Sara. She had possibilities for redemption, but now I've lost hope in getting a nicely written one.
Liz, I agree that Sara and Leo deserve each other. "I don’t care for Leo or Miriam." I don't either!
If I understood correctly, previously the death clause was only for Emi's life. Em added the same thing for Roberta. IIRC at one point Em said "now it'll be even" or something similar.
Susan, I love when anyone mentions the pear robe. What a hoot! The robe was before my time on the blog but there has been a red metal wheelchair that keeps popping up as well as Televisa’s headquarters itself, the large orange terra cotta colored building, being used over and over as “company” headquarters. I have been binge watching “Por ella soy Eva” since all of the shown episodes are OnDemand. I am almost caught up. It was the first novela I ever saw. I loved it then and love it now. Yes, Marcelo Córdoba was such a cutie in that one. I wish I saw more of him in the novelas I have watched.
I often noticed that the interiors and exteriors of houses used keep repeating . I kind of think that the mansion in the upcoming " El Amor No Tiene Receta" is the same one we saw in " Amor Invincible ". Susan
