Paloma explains to Walter's parents that she was no longer in a relationship with their son when he died. She had asked him to come to Mexico City so she could tell him to his face that they were finished. They blame her for his death. She refuses to take the blame. She offers to let them stay at her placer as long as they wish. They come around quickly. It turns out that they are worried about their finances because Walter helped support them. Paloma tells them no worries! She can give them a hand financially. (REALLY?) Paloma tells Franco about her plan to help them out. He tells her it is not her place to do so or her responsibility. She just feels so bad for them. He cannot talk her out of it so he goes to see her parents to ask their assistance to help Paloma avoid making the same mistake she made with them.
Carmina admits to Pablo that she lied about Nora Pardo and the way she found Damián. She tells him she only did it to protect him from what he is going through right now seeing what his son has turned into. He doesn't believe her one bit and cannot believe that she didn't apprise him of the advances that the detective was making. He demands to know what was going on in Pablito's room on the day he threw out Damián (Urban was right it it was THREE years ago and not FIVE) She asks if it wasn't enough to know how depraved Damián was. Pablo recognizes that she is an expert in lies and secrets and he hate both of them. She continues to poison Pablito against his father. She also blames "Manuela" and Pablito's illness as excuses for dragging them all to Mexico City to look for Damián. Pablo realizes that Carmina has been using Pablito and his illness to control him. He realizes that she had it all set up so he would end up throwing Damián out of the house that day.
Pablo tells Manuela that he feels like he is being punished for what he did to Damián that day.
Carmina tells Nancy that she is going to get everything she can out of Pablo . She knows she is never getting him back.
Julieta seems to be reverting back to BRAT status but I will let her be Julieta for today at least. She starts fishing for more information about Angeles after hearing what Brisa had to say. She asks Angeles why she got pregnant at such an old age. Angeles avoids answering.
Brisa is suffering from depression but want her appointments to be PRIVATE like at the Center and not at Manuela's house. She is very surprised to hear that Angeles is her mother.
Manuela and Angeles discuss Brisa. Angeles says that she never knew that she had a daughter. Brisa also had a difficult time getting along with people. She hope Manuela can help her. Yes, it is so much better that they meet at the center.
Julieta and Leandro are texting. He has to thank her in her search for her father (him). She inspired him find out who his father was. He tells her that he was a veterinarian. Julieta asks him if it is wrong to keep secrets. He says is is okay when keeping the secret doesn't hurt anyone.
Julieta asks Manuela about her father. Manuela says it is too painful to discuss.
Amanda does Leandro's bidding (DUH!) and tries to get Julieta to forgive him.
It seems that Leandro is going to "take care" of Tamara's divorce from Nico who wants custody, half of the house sale proceeds and also alimony. It seems like Nico is not going to get what he wants.
Leandro comes by to visit Julieta. He wants to take her out. Manuela says that was not a part of the agreement so he agrees to visit with Julieta at the house.
Juiieta tells Leandro that she has a feeling that her mother and grandmother are not telling her everything about the family. It could be that her mother's father is not who she thinks he is.
Amanda gives Tamara some coffee to sober her up and she ends up going for a romantic dinner at Enriques's . Susana the elder doesn't miss a beat and sends him photos of her late mother. Enrique gets upset and tells Amanda that when his wife was dying from cancer and he buried himself at work. He thought he was giving her quality time when he did see her but it was't quantity time. He now feels that was a mistake. Amanda thinks that maybe they need to suspend any relationship until he comes to terms with his wife's death.
YAWN: Vic's wife and daughter are still going to Michoacán. He is still resisting leaving and seems to have an interest in the house where Genaro and Yaneli live saying that it is part his, too.
Genaro is still in jail. It seems that his release is dependent on Dulce's statement to the police. The problem is that Dulce is afraid to talk to the police. Genaro tells a fellow inmate at the jail that he is not going to be saying a word about anything. The guy answers saying that his boss hopes not His minions give Genaro "a little gift" (aka a beating) so Genaro remembers what the deal is.
Dulce talks to Vicky. She is very lonely but does not want company. She has a panic attack after she hears that Genaro confessed to having attacked her. She is terrified just thinking about the fact that who attacked her is who is threatening Genaro at the jail.
That is it from me tonight.
Leo opens the motel door to find Ezequiel’s smirking presence. Ezequiel tells Joaquina she is suspected of being Ignacio’s murderer! Leo tells him to respect Joaquina but when Victoria tells him to leave, Ezequiel pulls out his gun and takes out his handcuffs.
Danilo is professing his true love to Sara. He again pleads that they and Romina run away. Sara titters sadly and places her hands on his face telling him he is crazy but…
Nico is my son Leo tells Ezequiel. No he is La Patrona’s Ezequiel states as Nico holds onto Leo’s arm. He is a child Victoria says and Leo refuses to back down. Leo holds out the handcuffs for him to take back.
Zaira, who has turned into quite the femme fatale, dines with Marat at Aleida, the only game in town. They discuss her separation and potential divorce from Tigre. Enchanted, he takes her hand. He wants her to be his companion and travel around the world. Zaira is flattered but refers to the fact she is married. She giggles a bit but true to her nature, won’t even kiss him. She grabs her purse and leaves. He laughs, smitten. Now, let’s digest this for a brief moment. Let’s weigh the options. Option 1: Tigre to whom Zaira, was (and is) totally devoted. A man who actually admitted he envied Sebas for having Miriam and Andres as his family, despite the fact he had Gael and Zaira who loved and adored him. A man who feigned an affair so Zaira would leave him. A man who kicked Emilia out of the house after she became pregnant after being raped. Option 2: Marat. Suave, sophisticated, charming, loyal. Is there a woman on earth who would choose curmudgeon Tigre??
There are several very off-putting scenes where Roberta comes onto Patricio. She serves him a drink (is it poisoned??) and they toast. She mutters something about scruples (or lack thereof).
Danilo is pacing and when Sara reappears, it is with her suitcase! He can’t believe it (neither can we). They share more kisses as she calls for Inez and Romina. Dan tells Inez they need her discretion. She is obviously dismayed; they are placing her in an awkward position as they take Romina and leave. But alas, it is a very short trip because as they walk down the stairs, they run smack into Addled.
Roberta is fondling Patrico’s shirt and actually coming onto him. Patrona he says and almost kisses her (as I throw up a bit in my mouth). I cannot understand exactly what she is asking him to do. She gently pushes him away as he calls her “Roberta”.
Diana
Inez takes Romina inside. Danilo, desperate, tells Addled the suitcase has documents. Addled, who wasn’t born yesterday, grabs it, opens it and he sees the clothes. He threatens “Benito” muttering something about an accident. Dan declares his love but Addled scathingly says Sara is the the property of the pueblo. And Leonardo. Addle grabs Sara, who follows behind him like a dutiful daughter. Addled warns Dan off with a thump of his finger on his forehead.
Gigi and Jenny have a heartwarming talk. Manuelito comes by and kisses her hand; he is wearing a team “Gigi” t-shirt emblazoned with her likeness. Hola says Jenny a bit bewildered. He smiles and Jenny looks at her mother with a “WTH” look but manages to somewhat smile.
There are several scenes where Marat and Sebas meet with the miners. We know that the miners have been waiting to be able to enter the mine to work but I am not sure if this was part of the discussion tonight or if it was something else. Victoria gets a call from Sebas, something about Patricio. Marat is talking to the miners and we see a very worried Ramiro in the front row. The bad miner (being paid off by Patricio) is stirring things up. Sebas pressures Ramiro to tell him what’s wrong and he retorts he is worried about his family, his wife, and children. Sebas puts his hand on his shoulder.
Joaquina is in jail (again), wringing her hands, praying for her son. As she finishes she hears Amen” and turns to find Roberta. She spews Nico is the only person she cares about and calls Joaquina a servant. Joaquina counters that she is Nico’s abuela.
Victoria and Leo are at the police station and as Nico emerges, Victoria holds him and Leo looks on almost smiling.
Roberta and Joaquina continue their discussion, Joaquina telling her she is an assassin. Roberta, looking tinged with insanity, admits that she is responsible for Ignacio’s death. After all these years, Joaquina is still able to appear shocked. Leo enters and Roberta tells him Joaquina killed Ignacio. It’s not true he says. She was in jail Roberta affirms. Leo walks off. Nico is upset and Victoria holds him as Roberta glares at him. Nico is of my blood; he is the most important thing to me Roberta murmurs.
Marat tells the miners that Victoria has the solution to their problem. The troublemaker continues to rile them up as Patricio shows up. He disparages what Sebas and Marat say but I can’t provide specific dialog.
Your father is Mauricio and it is your mother who is a murderer Roberta tells Nico. Nico is Leo’s son Victoria says, looking very nervous and clutching Leo, reassuring him.
Diana
At Aleida, Fidel and his henchies are drinking awaiting the results of the election. Addled walks in clapping with an unsmiling Sara. Cries of “La Presidenta” abound as Sara shakes hands looking completely miserable. Orlando lurks in the background. She remembers kissing Danilo and stares until Orlando brings her back to reality.
At Gigi’s, Jenny, Zaira and her supporters are preparing to celebrate her victory with noise makers, party hats, confetti, oh and Manuelito. Teresa says the TV is projecting she is the winner. Zaira hugs her, thrilled for her friend.
Danilo runs down the stairs with a suitcase and passports, flying out the door.
At Aleida, Roberta joins the fray to watch the results. Sara is declared the winner as she looks crestfallen. (Did they rig the results?) Sara refuses a celebratory belt. When Dan calls her, she lies and says it Leo. She begs him to leave her alone saying it’s impossible. No, he refuses to believe it. Nothing is impossible where love is concerned. He is as good as his word as he is there, walking up behind her, arms firmly encircling her. She tells him she loves him with all her heart. He has a car and wants them to fly and be happy together forever.
Leo is holding Joaquina’s hands through the jail bars. She talks about Nico and Emilia. “Emilia” he asks? It is time for me to tell you the truth. She says she killed Ignacio!
Elsewhere Cayetana and Marijo get into it. FF…..
Leo has tears in his eyes. Fool that he is, he believes her! He shakes the bars and tells her she is evil, mentira. She begs forgiveness. Just then, Victoria enters. Joaquina is a good person she utters quietly; Joaquina is your mother. Leo stares impactada.
Diana
Jarifa, I so appreciated your wise and wry summary. You illuminated so much.
Seeing the sun breaking through clouds of doubt and deceit was heartening and relieving. Carmina has now been exposed as the heartless monster she truly is.
“Pablo tells Manuela that he feels like he is being punished for what he did to Damián that day.” Pablo deserves his very guilty conscience. But he is not the victim here. The victim is Dulce who desperately needs his love, acceptance, and support. She is suffering so! My heart went out to her, she seems so desperate and alone.
It seems Genaro is too frightened to talk. If Dulce does, can her safety be guaranteed? I’m extremely skeptical.
I like Enrique but he needs to stand up to his daughter. Likewise, Amanda needs to tell her spoiled, entitled children “no” and stop being a doormat.
I wish Julieta had not told Leandro about Angeles…
To be fair, Walter’s parents don’t seem to be taking advantage of Paloma’s kindness. Yet. I still get the feeling she needs to take the “welcome” sign off her front door.
Shadows still lurk. Who is behind Dulce’s attack and Genaro’s threatening beatings? Who raped Manuela? Who is Chiro? From what we’ve seen, Leandro didn’t rape Manuela and isn’t Chiro. I do however believe Leandro is embroiled in some of this but how, remains to be seen..
Diana
Thanks, Diana.I loved your comparison of tigre and Marat. It's the same question I have about Leo vs Sebas. People in this show manage to pick the worst partners. It's incredible.
Zaira actually told Marrat she doesn't plan on resuming her marriage because tigre was the one who dumped her so one has to have some dignity. However, she says she wants to make sure tigre has recovered before giving him the divorce papers. In other words, no hope for Marat...and us...sadly.
I had to rewatch the scenes with the miners because I now realise I didn't quite get them. I think what happens is that Roberta has asked Patrichio, who admits he is in love with her, to get all the materials and tools out of the mine. The mine has to become like a ghost so that the miners won't be able to ask for compensations.Patrichio is a bit reluctant at first so Roberta asks 'where did all these scruples come from?Whose side are you on?'. Patrichio immediately says he is with her and would give up his life for her if needed. Why? How can he love her when she told him that if something goes wrong, he'll be her scapegoat. Roberta actually tells him to prove himself by doing what she asked him to and maybe he'll later be able to 'provide' her in other ways.
Sebas says there's mineral, the machinery and material so they'd be able to provide compensations. Marat says they took everything from the mine.So the mineral too? Roberta only mentioned the material. Ramiro admits he knew they were stealing from the mine but he was threatened. Later they talk about how after the intoxication there were many people who didn't receive anything. Sebas tells Ramiro 'you know the affected ones were compensated'. The other miner disagrees. Ramiro doesn't want to get involved in the discussions. So I wonder which of them got paid.
Roberta tells Joaquina she didn't kll the man. When Roberta showed up, he was still alive and Roberta finished him off. Thanks to Joaquina's decision to give Leo to Roberta, she was able to marry Esteban, which otherwise wouldn't have been possible. But Roberta still says 'see? Esteban finally chose me!'. I mean, she just admitted this was only because of Leo. The woman can't make herself make any sense. I was disturbed by Joaquina saying she deserves to be treated badly by Roberta because she is a killer. But then she tells everyone not to hurt her and 'understand' her when she knows Roberta killed Esteban. It's disturbing how messed-up Joaquina is.
Roberta threatens to take Nico to an orphanage if he doesn't go with her.
Cayetana got something to make Gael 'perform in bed'. He tells her it's not a 'health issue', but that he doesn't want to. She actually seems to be listening so she knows what the reality is because she says it annoys her he is always so honest. So why buy the drops? When she tells Mari she and Gael are engaged. So how exactly does her brain work? Or was there a connection problem and it crashed?
Danilo will put himself in danger for Sara and she isn't worth it. Romina needs at least one parent, preferably Danilo. It annoys me how he seems to have forgiven her everything.
I wonder where Victoria will get the money to pay everyone. Patrichio told them the mine is closed. Marat said this can't happen when there are betas to be used for extraction. Victoria told Sebas to tell the miners to rest for today and that they'll find a solution.
Tigre is actually bitter Zaira might have started an affair. The man gets on my nerves and I do think I can be patient. He didn't want to do anything to improve their relationship and now he is bitterly complaining to Gael his mother might be dating someone. He tells Sebas to take Emilia and Nico and run. I wish they would. Leonardo can stay because I don't want to have to listen to his complaining anymore.
Pepe now believes Pasqual is Malena's lover. It's quite funny that she insists he watch the entire video because it proves she hasn't done anything. Pepe actually thinks Malena installed a camera to record her 'meetings' with the guy.
Lorenzo comes to ask Isabela if Rafa is his son. Apparently she already had a child when she and Lorenzo got involved. They get interrupted by Alex. Lorenzo says he came to ask if his daughter's foodtruck being there bothers her. Alex saysof course it does and that he thought they'd agreed Lorenzo won't bother them anymore. She made it clear when they met in the square- there are no secrets between him and his wife. Later he asks the said wife is there's something he doesn't know. Isabela later tells him she's worried Lorenzo will tell the kids the whole story. So Alex knows the truth?Or has my Spanish failed me again and I misunderstood?
Renata denies having tried to hit Lucia with her car. But she says it drives her crazy that Lucia is after Emiliano, which kind ofproves she's lying about the car. Renata demands Emiliano is serious about the relationship by telling his mother they are going to travel to Europe in two months.
Emiliano actually asks Diego why he always interrupts them when he and Renata are alone. It pissed me off that he said that at Diego's age he already had broken up with two girlfriends by the time he met Renata. He thinks his brother is weird for not having a girlfriend. But also asks him why he doesn't share his secrets with his dear bro anymore. Emiliano thinks Diego fancies Renata and tells him' find a gf or whatever but leave mine alone.' Renata thinks they are fighting over her. Diego says Emiliano is obsessed with Lucia.
Pepe overhears Pasqual boasting about how Malena enjoyed his company. Pepe gets into a fight with him because one must defend his lady's honour.
Pepe's car breaks down and Paula stops to help. She ends up taking him to pick up his son's birthday cake. She at first asks 'don't you know a mechanic?' Pepe says 'I do but he won't want to come'. Paula asks 'why?' and he responds 'because I justhit him.'
Pepe calls his wife and tells her to go to the restaurant because Teo is sad neither of them is there. She comes to that cake place and immediately is in a jealousy mode. Pepe tells her he likes Paula. The cake gets destroyed. When Pepe tells Malena to go to a big bakery to get another one, it turns out she has no idea where that is (it's near Lucia's favourite stationary shop).
Isabela wants to know who is Malena's lover because Pepe needs a better women than that evil witch.
Paula's evil friend (I forgot her name) tells Rolando the first time they made love was after his supposed best friend's funeral so he'd better stop pretending they were pals. He got drunk and apparently confessed her something. She brings some papers for Paula to sign but her father signs them instead. I'm guessing it's something to do with those contracts with the Asians. Why don't these people ever read before signing? I don't care you're friends. It's your business! The evil witch threatens Rolando that if he hides things from her or betrays her, she will talk. He says he doesn't know anything definite about Paula's condition yet.
Malena tells everyone Pepe is with Paula and that he is the one having an affair.
Andrea takes Diego's camera when he takes her picture. She seems to have decided the younger brother will do if she can't get the other one.
I thought I'd write a little something today in the hope it's useful to those watching. I also hope this might help me concentrate better when watching. Now for some reason it feels as though someone had just fried my brain.
In the last episode I was unpleasantly surprised that Paula had no idea her son was reading stories to his sister and that German had given her a book. Didn't the whole distancing thing happen after Germa died? And how did she manage to miss all those times her son was reading to Susie? That's quite a big thing to have missed. Does she always get home at three a.m. or what?
Diana: Howdy from the Alamo City. Now that we're in the closing stretch of this Telenovela, thank you very much for your recap of last night's episode.
Something tells me Addled will tell Psycho Roberta about Danillo & Crazy Whacky Blonde Sara's escape attempt & something horrible will happen to Danillo.
I still do NOT think Jenny should have kids because I just plain don't like what she did aborting kids, etc.,
Where is Adelia ?
Joaquina revealed as Leo's mother wasn't surprising. Now the big question is whether Psycho Roberta is Marijo's mother 🤔
Thanks, waterlily. This was great.
“Now for some reason it feels as though someone had just fried my brain.” Thanks for the laugh and I can relate.
My most disliked character so far: Diego is just plain old obnoxious always smirking in the background.
Has Lisardo EVER played anything other than “villainish” roles?
Thanks Jarifa, that was informative! I had some things right, some things wrong-or completely clueless! I didn’t understand any of Franco with Paloma’s parents and was afraid they were trying to split them up. Not sure why Paloma would want to financially help Walter’s parents. That’s crazy. They weren’t even a couple!
I’m glad most of Carmina’s deeds are coming out in the open. But he still doesn’t know that she is hurting Pablito physically by not giving him the right treatment. I hated when Pablito wanted to stay with his mother instead of going with Pablo.
I guess Julieta still thinks her dad is great. She never should share anything about her family with him. And do we know for sure that Angeles are mother and daughter? I’m sure Angeles raised her but is it her biological daughter?
I was relieved that Amanda went to Enriques’ in spite of drunken Tamara. But then Susana has to ruin the evening by sending pictures to him in the middle of their romantic evening.
I wonder how Género got so involved in Dulce’s troubles. He only knew her as Dulce, I think. But people seem to be after Dulce from when she was Damian.
To me, Carmina is the worse, followed by Leandro. But if Leandro is somehow involved with Dulce and Genaro’s troubles that would move him into first place!
Liz
Thanks for writing your recap, Waterlily. It’s hard to know everything that’s happening with limited Spanish!
I like the interactions between Pepe and Paula! They make this fun and light although there are several dark characters.
Malena is something else. There’s a video of her doing some serious kissing but she feels Pepe should watch till the end so he can see nothing happened! He already saw stuff happening.
How Can Paula’s father sign for her? I don’t think that would be a legal signature. When Rolando and Lorenzo were talking about Paula’s illness the cámara went to Natalia. I couldn’t tell if she was just pleased she got a signature or hearing about Paula. She had walked away so I’m not sure if she heard the conversation.
I think Paula started the business after her husband died. Or else she just started spending more time there. But I haven’t figured out how long ago he died.
It does seem like Alex and Isabella don’t have any secrets. I also got the impression he knows about Rafa. But I figured he was the oldest and she married Alex because Lorenzo had left.
Liz
Waterlily, this was wonderful! Yes, everything was very helpful and your style of writing is always clever and fun.
"So Alex knows the truth?" My vote is no but I'm not sure. A truth shrouded in mystery.
Malena seems clueless about her children, who they are, what they like. Do they ever engage in conversation?? That said, I'm still smarting that Paula had no idea what Diego and Susie's baedtime routine was. It just seems out of character. As you noted "That's quite a big thing to have missed. Does she always get home at three a.m. or what?" That must have been the case. Color me confused.
"Malena tells everyone Pepe is with Paula and that he is the one having an affair" had me on edge. The best offense is a good defense I imagine. Ack.
The best scenes for me are Lorenzo and Alex taking each other's measure and Paula and Alex.
Diana
Waterlily, Rgv Chick checked and there was no comment from you "lost in the sauce" from last night.
However, there were a few older ones. If in the future you lose your comment, please post and I will ask her to check.
Thanks Rgv Chick!
Diana
Waterlily, I now see a comment from you I hadn't seen earlier.
Thank you, am reading it now.
Diana
Diana, I see my comment now. I don't know why I didn't see it before. I added a few things to your minas recap. Thanks so much for your help. And thanks to Rgvchick for checking.
Thank you for your kind words and support Waterlily!
You explained and clarified in your marvelous, tinged with wry wit manner.
You unearthed so, so much I didn't understand and I am so appreciative. The specifics as to what is transpiring in the mine seem to be contradictory (depending on the point of view), and I am struggling and confused.
"In other words, no hope for Marat...and us...sadly". Oh noes, I was afraid of that I lament as I sigh deeply.
"Roberta actually tells him to prove himself by doing what she asked him to and maybe he'll later be able to 'provide' her in other ways". I so appreciate this! I could not follow this for the life of me! Watching Patrichio fawn and melt in front of her, puppy eyes alight was cringeworthy.
So in effect the mine has been (mostly) stripped!? "Patrichio told them the mine is closed. Marat said this can't happen when there are betas to be used for extraction". All of this was and is way over my head so cannot thank you enough for explaining this complicated situation.
I am very, very worried about and for Danilo. Yes, Romina does need a parent and if it ends up being Sara, I am going to be very upset.
"I was disturbed by Joaquina saying she deserves to be treated badly by Roberta because she is a killer. But then she tells everyone not to hurt her and 'understand' her when she knows Roberta killed Esteban. It's disturbing how messed-up Joaquina is". It truly is. Actually, I feel badly for Leo that she IS his mother.
Diana
Waterlily, thank you SO much, for the recap!! Just to clarify, it WAS n the SPAM folder along with several other of your comments from days past. All have been retrieved and reposted.
I could not believe Pepe was defending Malena; he knows she's cheating on him yet he defends her "honor"?? QTH??? I had to laugh when Pasqual told him that if Pepe is going to punch everyone who lusts after Malena, he might as well punch the whole town!!
I don't think Alex knows that Rafa isn't his son. I think Isabela is afraid that Lorenzo will tell Pepe and Rafa about her past with Lorenzo and the "deal" Alex made with Lorenzo.
Odd how we have two mothers that have know no clue about what their kids do/don't do or like/don't like. Paula has the excuse that she drowned herself in work, but what about Malena??? She drowned herself in men???
So Natalia stoops to a low, manipulating Suzy to convince Paula to marry Rol. (w)itch!! And yeah, she did overhear Rolando and Lorenzo talking about how little time Paula has.
Isabela and Alex would be really dumb to believe anything Malena says, PLUS they know that Paula just arrived not too long ago.
LESTER, on the previous page you wrote, "One thing I do not understand clearly is the controversy over who owns the property and the relationships of those involved. If someone could enlighten me, I would appreciated it." When they were much younger, Isabel was dating Alex, but he left oversees to pursue his music career. Lorenzo and Isabela met afterwards and had an immediate attraction...fell in love...whatever. And, yes, there was a consequence--Rafa. Apparently, Alex came back and got back together with Isabela; they married. Some time later, Lorenzo returned and started to pursue Isabela; so Alex offered his properties to Lorenzo in exchange for Lorenzo leaving Isabela to him...and they signed a contract! Lorenzo has now returned with his family and is reclaiming the property.
Diana, thanks! We soldier on! "I wish Julieta had not told Leandro about Angeles…" I am now on the fence with Julieta. No surprise there. There still seems to be an undercurrent of animosity toward her mother and no appreciation for anything she does. When Leandro asked her how things were back at the house, she said "same as usual" and not in a happy way. I guess Angeles and who was Manuela's father will be the next big SCANDAL.
Liz, glad that the notes helped out. "Not sure why Paloma would want to financially help Walter’s parents. That’s crazy. They weren’t even a couple!" ITA I thought it was a kind thing to let them stay at her place but that was it. Hate to say it but something is not quite right in that noggin. Her offer to financially help Walter's parents came so out of left field that I couldn't believe. She needs to talk to Manuela about boundaries and unwarranted guilt. Sounds like Franco will solve the problem along with her parents. At least I hope so.
It has been nice not seeing too much of Leandro in the last couple episodes but it seems like that is going to end soon.
Gracias again, Jarifa.
I don't know why Paloma feels any need to help Walter's parents. They treated her like crap. Franco is right. She is not responsible for Walter's death and his parents look healthy enough to earn their own way in the world. What I don't get about Franco is him going to Paloma's parents about anything except to make sure they spend their money on food and bills and stay away from casinos.
It took this long, but Pablo finally saw Carmina for the monster she really is behind that helpless-little-girl voice and all that pink. How many episodes until Paulito's medical emergency?
Totally agree with Diana on everything else.
Jarifa, thank you for another fantastic report on all the drama.
I was finally able to actually watch this episode . I got a big kick out the end of the introduction as the guys and gals all threw their suitcases over the cliff...symbolizing tossing a way their past young a" baggage, " I suppose . Ha .
I liked watching The Golden Bachelor ( aka Silver Foxyfox) playing the guitar and singing to Amanda . Nice suit. Rico suave. wow...Both of their daughters are relentless in trying to keep them apart by making them feel guilty. I guess some adult children are afraid they will lose their inheritance if their parents remarry . Sad.
I think Leondro is the big bad behind everything .
Genero should be out of jail because the person he supposedly killed.... IS ALIVE !!! Instead he is still in jail getting beaten up. I wonder if Genero started dating Dulce , and then went BSC when he found out she was Damien .
I guess we are supposed to just see Paloma as a kind hearted , generous person , the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back. I like her with Franco.
If Angeles isn't Manuelas mother , who is and how did Angeles end up raising her? Who is Manuela's dad ?
Ingrid Marz ( Carmina) knows how to bring the nasty , bitter itch . Susan
Thank you waterlily for your mini-recap. You did a great job!
"Didn't the whole distancing thing happen after Germa died? And how did she manage to miss all those times her son was reading to Susie?"
It is possible that Susy was probably an small infant when German died. Susy looks like she is probably seven or eight years old now, and does she even remember Germán? Paula said that after he died, she threw herself into her work as a way of dealing with her grief. Paula probably didn't get home from work until 9 p.m. or STTE.
I knew that birthday cake was toast when it was carried out without a clear plastic lid over it.
It was comical that Paula works on Pepe's truck in that off-white blazer. NOBODY goes under the hood wearing anything that color especially a dry-clean only blazer. ~eye roll~
(From the color of the smoke coming from the truck, my guess is it's burning oil.)
Telenovela Rule #238 --- Lorenzo is going to try to get a DNA test done to determine if Rafa is his son. (telenovela rule #239 is someone will steal, alter, or falsify the results. We'll see.)
I cringed when Lorenzo signed those papers without reading or even asking what they were. However, he has not reason to NOT trust Natalia. Apparently Lorenzo has some capacity with that business, since he can sign the documents.
Paula asked Pepe if they could "tutearnow" and then agree "ser amigos". Baby steps.
* * * Apparently Monday episodes get the "entrada". Yay! Rolo was definitely just standing there, doing nothing, and watching Germán drown.
Water lily , thank you for the excellent recap.
Chickie, thank you for the added details AND for all you do for us here at caray.
Pepe's manbun and Diego lurking around in the bucket hat both distract me .
Lisardo is always a villain.
Okay , the good and the bad are lined up . Here we go. Susan
Diana, thank you for another excellent account of the continuing trouble and strife .
Water lily , thank you for giving us the added details .
Danilo, run while you can . Why is this guy so hopelessly devoted to weird Sara? Those bunnyhops they shared must have been earth shattering .
Why did Rob need Leo to marry Esteban ?
Jo is as messed up as Rob . There is a masochist \ sadist dynamic here .
I need this to end , so we can walk out of that mine and into the sun and a new show. We should have realized this was going to be a dark, depressing tale considering the setting was a mine. Susan
Thank you for your kind words Susan!
I laughed out loud at the notion of "earth shattering bunnyhops" but I think you've nailed it. There is no other plausible explanation.
"Jo is as messed up as Rob . There is a masochist \ sadist dynamic here" was fabulous.
I realize things are moving slow as molasses, so appreciate you and other members of our small but loyal patio hanging in there. The comments are the only thing keeping me going at this point.
Diana
Urban, excellent question about how long until Pablito has a medical emergency. He is still in pain and Pablo has noted that he doesn’t look too well which Carmina blames on his absence and moving to Mexico City in the first place because Pablo had to come to search for Damián. The tock is ticking on that plot.
Susan, so glad you are back and able to watch! I absolutely love the intro to the novela with the women climbing the stairs with their eyes always up on the sky. The luggage being flung off the top of the building is such a joyful experience. It is one of my favorite intros.
Yes, Genaro and Dulce had been dating. He reacted poorly, as we saw, when she told him the truth about being transgender.
VIDA
Lisardo could have easily made a fine galán. I wonder what got him pigeon holed into the villain category.
Jarifa - I once read, either here on Caray or the old telenovelaworld forum, that the villain roles pay better. Who knows if that's true? Maybe it's just the pure talent to play a baddie?
Susan - Silver bachelor indeed. ;-)
Gracias, Jarifa. Super job. Thanks to your detailing I understand what's happening between Walter's parents and Paloma.
Walter's parents asking for financial help seems out of left field. I guess this is to show Paloma needs help to not try to please everyone.
Pablo's anguish, guilt, and feeling stupid for believing Carmina work for me. I do feel like he's in a place in his head to finally be of help to Dulce.
I hope we get to see how Genaro found out the truth about Dulce. Did she tell him or did some goons out her first? Genaro has taken so many beatdowns when he hasn't told anyone anything all this time.
Thanks, Waterlily.
Malena is a real piece of work and Pepe will really lose his temper when he learns the full truth.
Rolando is scheming to get Paula's fortune but what are his pans for her children? And Lorenzo is no fool.
About Lisardo: I first saw him in the 2009 Corazon Salvaje where his hair was still blonde and he spoke in a Castilian accent. Is that why he was a villain? Televisa has a track record of making that accent a joke. He has had one non-villain role since in the abbreviated version of Rubi where he played the wealthy and loving father of a disabled girl. Castilian accent gone. He is now 53 years old.
We had an Amazon Prime commercial at Amanda's shop!
Surprise, surprise! Paloma's old but improved parents come to her rescue with Walter's parents after Franco told them what was going on. Walter's parents are so grateful for everything Paloma is doing to support them. Paloma's father admits that his daughter is as good as gold but sometimes people who are that good are also stupid. He asks them why they are staying at his daughter's apartment. They explain that Walter didn't live in Mexico City. They want to leave some of Walter's things with Paloma. She is about to say yes when her father interrupts saying it is one thing to be nice and another to be used. He accuses Walter's parents of planning to live off his daughter. Walter's parents decide to leave rather than be insulted. Paloma's father says it is not right for them to take what his daughter is offering. Her mother says Paloma is repeating the same pattern that she did with them. Paloma's parents try to make her see that although she feels bad the accident, it was not her fault. Paloma explains that Walter's parents reminded her of them. They remind her that her parents are all better now. Later, Paloma's parents will have dinner with Walter's parents where they have a good heart to heart. They both liked each other's child. Paloma's parents explain that they had been bad parents for years, and when they saw what Paloma was doing, they just had to intervene. Walter's parents understand. Walter's parents find out that they will be receiving death bemefits from his job including his apartment.
Paloma tells Franco that after dealing with Walter's death, she has decided that she needs to be on her own without any romantic relationships to figure out her own life and what she really wants. He looks surprised but doesn't try to change her mind. He simply tells "his love" goodbye.
Amanda is still being a doormat. Nico manages to take his kids out from under her nose while she is supposed to be looking after them at her shop. He gets them to leave with him to get some ice cream.
YAWN! Susana the elder continues being the obnoxious thing she always is. Can anyone shut her up???
Leandro fixes on what Julieta said about Angeles not being her mother's mother and tries to ferret out more information. She tries to avoid answering and when he tells her about how her mother kept his existence a secret from her, she reminds him all of the secrets he has kept. He tries to justify his secrets. She thinks that he and her mother are even.
Leandro gets into contact with a journalist specializing in show iz to find out info about Angeles. He is presented with an interview from 1980 where Angeles told the interviewer that she never had children and never would.
Leandro tells Irineo to find out all that he can about Manuela's background ASAP.
Leandro, looking fine with a half-buttoned shirt, shows up at Carmina's to exchange info. She fears she has lost Pablo forever and is so happy for his support. He makes happy talk with Pablito talking about maybe going to see soccer games in Europe. Pablito admits he likes Leandro. At the same time, he gives Pablo the cold shoulder as a result of his mother's influence.
Brisa shows up at Angeles' house rather than the center for her "therapy" in order to see Angeles. Brisa is curious about Manuela being Angeles' daughter because she told her once upon a time that she was infertile. Uncle Ricky calls Manuela to let her know what is going on.
YAWN YAWN! Vic and his wifey are still arguing about where to live. It seems he wants to stay in Mexico City because he feels guilty for having abandoned Genaro and Yaneli. Yaneli tries to explain to the blockhead that his family now is his wife and daughter. When Genaro is released, it seems like Vic's wifey might be agreeing for all of them to stay in Mexico City.
Julieta is ready for her injection but she needs to be able to get into and out of the spa without being seen. She knows that Susana the younger has been stealing things from the spa so she uses that info to blackmail Susana the younger into participating in a plan to get Susana the elder out of the spa. Susana the younger tells her mom that she needs certain things for a school project that she will be working on with Julieta at Amanda's store this very afternoon!! That gets Juieta to the spa location and Susana the elder out of her hair. She asks the spa woman one more time if the injections are safe and is assured again they are natural and organic! She gets an injection in the butt and is immediately in a lot of pain. The spa lady gives her some pills to help with the pain and will see her in a week. No big deal!!!
Manuela has arranged for Pablo to meet with the parents of another transgender child. He learns that the most important thing is to support his child and to call them by their new name because that is who they really are.
Dulce makes her statement to the prosecutor and Genaro is released. Leandro tells Irineo he needs to find out exactly what Dulce said to make sure she is not hiding anything because if something new were to come out, Genaro could end up back in jail.
Dulce tells Manuela that she lives in fear for Genaro and for herself especially now after she made her statement. Dulce insists that Manuela has no idea of what her attacker is like. That is why she wants to go away. She is so afraid staying there. Manuela informs her that they are taking steps to get her to another shelter where she will be safer. Manuela thinks the only way she will ever be safe is to name her accuser and let the police do their job. She needs to go on with her life. Dulce asks her how??? Everyone looks at her like she is some kind of strange bug and that is beginning with her own family. The word "family" means nothing to her because for years she hasn't had a family. Pablo suddenly appears telling her that she still has her father and he is there for her . He calls her Dulce.
That is it for me tonight.
Understanding only random words here and there, it was impossible to make sense of the multitude of dialogue tonight. I did the best I could; please add what I missed and correct what I have gotten wrong.
Victoria had quietly entered Joaquina’s cell area, declaring “Joaquina is a good person” to Leo’s back; “Joaquina is your mother”. Leo stares impactada. He screams at Joaquina and Victoria repeats what she said. Leo cannot come to grip and leaves. Joaquina is blubbering to Victoria that Ignacio’s dying is her fault…
Danilo has Sara backed against a wall, urging that they leave. They crouch down and run…into a pantry. Sara pleads for time. He is one note, pushing her to agree and she seems to weaken for a moment, kissing him and murmuring “I love you”.
Nico is talking with the policewoman, she actually gives him a treat as Sebas comes in, greeting him with a hug.
Marijo and Cayetana have a throw down, right in the hospital lobby! Charming. Flinging their bags on the ground, the verbal sparring begins. Cayetana’s taunting leads Marijo to ask if she is pregnant! Cayetana plays coy and Marijo, believing her accusation congratulates her, not meaning a word of it of course.
Outside, Leo slumps against a railing, Roberta’s words reverberating in his head.
Victoria tries to be supportive to Joaquina; they discuss Ignacio and Mauricio.
Fidel and Roberta are having a few drinks with one of the pueblo’s overt looking losers as Addled chews his cud in the background. Ezequiel is drinking and flirting as Roberta gets in his face, sending him off to find Sara (who is still kissin’ in the closet with Danilo). Let’s leave with our daughter is his mantra as she looks frightened and holds him. She puts him off and he says esta bien and holds her, reassuring her. Another kiss, “te amo” then she leaves.
Gael is explaining his romantic problems to Tigre as Marijo and Cayetana come in, Cayetana rushes over to Gael hugging him and then kissing Tigre on the cheek. She asks Gael to confirm their wedding! Marijo can’t take it and leaves. Cayetana moves toward Gael but he stops her and runs out. Tigre looks confused.
Diana
Leo comes over to Nico who is with Sebas. The just reformed policewoman is sorry but Leo has to go back to Roberta. Victoria comes in and thanks Sebas. Then, she, Nico and Leo leave hastily.
Cayetana chases after Gael, righteously indignant. She is getting “handsy” with him which he doesn’t like; she gives him a “whatevs” and flounces off.
At Gigi’s headquarters, Manuelito and Zaira try to cheer her up in the face of her apparent defeat. Jenny puts her arm around her mother and offers her support. They discuss Sara, whom Jenny says is intelligent (the jury’s still out). She and Gigi tell each other they love each other. Zaira seems to give some dark prediction, if that is correct, kindly add what she said.
Aleida greets Orlando warmly and asks where Jenny is. They watch Addled manhandle Flor in the background. She shows him a video she took of a drug deal going down there and tells him his father is responsible.
Roberta catches up with Sara, right outside the storeroom where Sara and Danilo were just pledging their love. Smirking triumphantly, she opens the door and we see Danilo tied to a chair, bare chested, blood running down his face and torso. Sara runs to him, distraught and devastated as Roberta tells her not to be ridiculous. She yells out infeliz to which Roberta replies “no I’m La Patrona”. Ordinarily, I would have rolled my eyes at such a statement but Danilo’s condition prevents me from doing so here. Roberta threatens Romina and Danilo interrupts, spitting blood. She grabs some sort of torture instrument/branding iron and burns him three times.
Orlando looks at Aleida, alarmed. He immediately suspects that she just pretended to be his friend! He thinks she is involved with the police and was using him to find evidence. She strongly denies it, saying she cares for him. She tries to kiss him as she leaves but he backs off. Lola comes up and asks what’s wrong. I think he asks her if she knows anything but she denies it.
Sebas is still at the police station. Ezequiel comes in asking where Nico is. He calls the policewoman an idiot. Try as he might, no one seems to know where Nico is.
Sara is at home, sitting on a couch in shock. She listens to Gigi’s voice mail, congratulating her and saying how proud she is of her. For once, Sara looks truly stricken and guilty and sheds real tears.
Diana
Victoria comforts Nico as he lies in her lap, exhausted. Leo confronts her about Joaquina being his mother. Their talks turns serious and Leo confesses that Sara deceived him but that he was always faithful to Emilia. Emilia tries to back up but Leo pulls her toward him and kisses her, very gently. She returns his ardor but finally breaks away saying she will see him tomorrow.
Nico gives Leo a letter and Zaira comes in asking for Victoria. Nico mentions something about Victoria being like his mother. Victoria is a good woman Zaira says as she playfully pinches Nico’s cheek.
Leo is in the woods stalking Victoria. As she walks by, Sebas calls (something about the miners) and Leo listens in and follows her.
Tigre is in a mood and in great pain as he curses Roberta. Gael pulls Ramiro out of his house and Tigre confronts him. Ramiro is clearly terrified.
Patricio enters Sebas’ office and he shows him papers and I believe he says he is going to be investigated for the accident the miners suffered. Sebas says he is Roberta’s accomplice. Eyes blazing with fury, Patricio picks up a heavy crystal flower vase and hits Sebas over the head. Hard. Muttering under his breath, he takes the papers and leaves.
Roberta and Fidel are meeting with a lawyer. After he leaves, Fidel doesn’t believe her when she says Emilia is alive. He tells her to be quiet. I believe she tells him Leo is not hers (is that correct?). He looks shocked as does Sara who has crept up and is listening on the stairs.
It is reckoning time. Leo catches up with Victoria. You are Emilia aren’t you he asks, holding her as she tries to break away. Their faces just inches apart, he tightens his hold on her as she stares into his eyes.
Diana
Jarifa, your recap was pure pleasure.
Due to my lack of Spanish comprehension, like many other nights, I watched without seeing so to speak. I didn’t realize Paloma broke up with Walter until he gave her his sad goodbye. Your ability to translate all the action into a beautifully constructed outline that explains everything is amazing. Thank you.
“Leandro, looking fine with a half-buttoned shirt, shows up at Carmina's to exchange info” was my favorite line. Yes, Gabe was so sexy, I had a very hard time concentrating! Funny, I thought he was going to end up seducing a very amenable Carmina, but it doesn’t appear things are going to go that route.
I also loved “Paloma's old but improved parents” and “YAWN! Susana the elder continues being the obnoxious thing she always is. Can anyone shut her up???” 😊
A few small but significant victories were Pedro calling Dulce by her name and pledging his support and Paloma realizing she needs time for herself.
No forward motion with Amanda “still being a doormat”; Julieta foolishly getting the injections; Susana the Elder still being her dour self; the list seems endless doesn’t it??
Dulce is right to be afraid…She and Genaro are targets with bullseyes on their backs. Finally, Dulce has a few protectors, but who will guard Genaro?
When Octavio was sexily growling at Adela, I got the impression Luis Gatica improvised that as Claudia Martin seemed to be genuinely laughing. I always hope the actors are enjoying themselves and I hope that was a real “moment” here.
Diana
I may be a lone voice here, but Pepe is growing on me! I really like the actor’s wonderful voice, and I like the character that is developing, a really nice guy!
The show is also growing on me because it makes me laugh at least once an episode! We all need a little humor these days!
Babachita
Diana: NOT shocked that Psycho Roberta tortured Danillo in a brutal way while forcing Crazy Whacky Blonde Sara to watch. I KNEW both Danillo & Crazy Whacky Blonde Sara would get busted.
Orlando still an uppity asshole who snubs Adelia with his pompous windbag attitude of Blah-Blah-Blah.
Cayetana needs a major Karma anvil sooner or later because I cannot stand that asshole.
Gael needs to make a decision about who he wants to be with: Marijo or Nutty Cayetana.
Victoria will FINALLY have to admit she's Emilia to Leo. I mean at this point, everyone's going to find out eventually.
What's up with Patricio knocking out Sebastian with a heavy crystal flower vase. Sounds like Patricio has something to hide.
Sorry for disappearing, guys! Thanks, Diana, for your amazing recap. I didn't watch so I can't help with dialogue, but it seems to me you did a fantastic job.
I laughed at "Sara, whom Jenny says is intelligent (the jury’s still out)". So true!
I want to scream with how things are turning out.
Danilo played with fire and got burnt. Literally.
If Sebas is dead I might ACTUALLY write the complaint letter to Televisa.
Leo waking up after all this time is unsatisfying. I admit I rolled my eyes reading about it.
If it wasn't for our patio, I'd have dropped this.
Up to now we have a team of 4 recappers. If anyone wants to join us, tell us about it. An extra person would be great and you'll only have to recap one day. This will (probably) be in standalone pages.
Thanks, Diana. I will be happy when this madness ends.
I guess the writers wanted to give us an overdue view of Danilo's hot bod but eroticizing violence is not a good thing. Someone has to bust him out of there. He deserves to survive and be a father to Romina.
Patricio may have written his own Karmageddon by saying he'd "give up his life for La Patrona". Idiot definitely deserves a Darwin Award.
As for Joaquina, I think it's impossible to not come out very messed up after years of that horrible life with Roberta. What gets me is how will Nico cope with finding out that his mother was there all along.
Thank you Weirdo!!
"Danilo played with fire and got burnt. Literally" was so sadly true. After thinking it over, I think Roberta will keep him alive. For now. At least until he is useful in keeping Sara in line.
If the writers plan on killing off Sebas, I would hope he would die a far more noble death than by having his head bashed in by crystal at Patricio's hands!
Steve, I see Orlando as a kind and caring person. I can see why he recoiled a bit; he thought Aleida was using him; I'm sure he will come around.
Diana
Thank you Urban!
This is a case of a TN extending beyond its expiration date. It has simply ran about 30 episodes longer than it should have. No wonder we are so frustrated with the characters!!
I share your concern about Danilo. Sebas seemed like the obvious choice to rescue him but now, he is down for the count as well. I wonder if Sara will go to Leo?? Or even better, Orlando? Pure speculation.
"Patricio may have written his own Karmageddon by saying he'd "give up his life for La Patrona". Idiot definitely deserves a Darwin Award". Perfect!!
Joaquina's constant defending Roberta and endless hand wringing have gotten to me. But as you noted she suffered terribly at Roberta's hands, psychological torture indeed.
Thank you for staying with us as this (finally) begins to wrap up. After tonight there will be 8 episodes left.
Diana
Gracias, Jarifa.
I didn't expect a farewell in this episode but Paloma definitely needs to work on herself before committing to a relationship. There is just enough time for a reunion for her and Franco but I won't bank on it.
Manuela doesn't deserve the shakeup waiting for her between any discovery of her birth parents' identities and the medical crisis waiting in the wings for her brat. I am also worried about what Leandro might do with the information.
It was good to see Pablo coming to his senses and talking with parents of a trans child. There has to be a support group for this. This whole plot kept screaming PSA! PSA!
Jarifa, thanks once again for another excellent recap that fills in my blanks. I didn’t realize Julieta had stood up to her dad on the secret thing. Of course, she shouldn’t be sharing anything with him about her mom’s life, but she is just a teenager. I have a feeling she’ll grow up by the end of this show.
Dulce didn’t want to have Amanda visit her, and she said something about her being a mother. So I’m now thinking Leandro has something to do with all this mess. I just don’t know what. He might be behind Genero’s beatings.
We saw hoodie guy’s face, but I don’t know who he is.
It seemed like Leandro was inviting Pablito to Europe for the Olympics. That was weird! Every episode I think “this is the night he’ll get so sick and almost die”. And hopefully his mom will lose custody!
I thought something was said about Walter’s cell phone. I really want them to realize Walter was texting when he had the accident. Paloma had warned him about that.
Can’t believe Nico took his kids! Never thought he was that interested in them. Guess he did it to get back at Lorena, who will be furious with her mother.
Was so happy when Pablo showed up for Dulce.
Liz
Thanks to everyone for their kind comments and opinions. It is a busy day for me. Hope to get back later to comment some more.
Lorenzo sent Marcos to get a DNA sample for Rafa, the "younger" son. I thought Rafa was the oldest? So Pepe was already around when Isabella and Lorenzo had their affair?
Q: How do we know when Malena is lying?
A: Her lips are moving.
Malena is a real piece of work. So is Rafa. They deserve each other.
Paula was so sweet, signing to Teo.
Babacita - ITA, Pepe's character is growing on me, too.
Thanks Diana, it’s hard to imagine that you don’t understand all the words spoken. You fill in so much for me!
I’m tired of all these characters, but a few stand out. Not sure why the writers needed Cayetano in this. She is so annoying. Gael needed to tell her off and send her on his way a long time ago.
Joaquina took the rap for Roberta’s murder, but in her defense, she did think she had killed him. But why does she say she killed Ignacio when it was Roberta who put the poison in the tea.
I like Sebas, but why show Patricio the evidence they have when he’s alone with him. And then he turns his back on Patricio, whom he knows is working with Roberta.
Leo is still blind to Roberta’s deeds, even though she was so cruel to him. He believes the worse of the good people and is blind to the bad guys. Not a very good judge of character.
With Danilo and Sebas out the girls are on their own. And Roberta has most of the town in her pocket.
I don’t understand any of the mine stuff. If the mine is finished the town will become a ghost town. Which actually will force people to go elsewhere for jobs. La Patrona will lose her power!
Liz
Liz, thank you so much for your kind words and support!
I'm confused as to why Joaquina says she is guilty of murdering Ignacio as well. I realize she is psychologically damaged but her silence has allowed Roberta to continue her monstrous tirades unabated.
"With Danilo and Sebas out the girls are on their own. And Roberta has most of the town in her pocket" is exactly right. I am very eager to see what Sara does; hopefully she will be proactive. Roberta is NOT playing.
Here's hoping Leo takes the blinders off sooner rather than later. We need him to see things as they really are before this ends, and time is running out.
So glad you are still here Liz - thank you!
Diana
"Q: How do we know when Malena is lying?
A: Her lips are moving".
Good one doris!!
I like the way Pepe and Paula's relationship is progressing. A bit of a friendship is starting to flourish. I liked the way she kissed Pepe on the cheek, a sweet gesture that mirrored the affection she is starting to feel for him.
Did Pepe and Malena tell their son they were splitting up on his actual birthday?? Whatever, it was bad timing and surely could have waited a day or so.
Malena is already burning with jealousy and I'm sure she will be doing something to warn Paula off shortly.
Diana
Thanks so much, Diana. I can't thank you enough for recaping this. I think you have all the important parts right. I wish I could add more but I haven't rewatched the episode as I went to see a play.
I was a bit surprised Orlando actually couldn't believe his father was dealing drugs at that restaurant. I mean, why wouldn't Fidel do something like that? I'm just curious why Orlando had a bit of 'no way' reaction at first. It's not looking good for him if he doesn't cooperate.
I could have swarned there was a scene of Sebas with Miriam where she asked him if he really loved Victoria. Sebas responded he doesn't know what he feels (I was furious as you probably can imagine). He basically said that he saw Nico chose Leo as his father. I don't see why Nico's choice would stop them if Emilia loved Sebas, though. I mention this because telenovelas love involving the kids in these relationships somehow and in certain cases it can be annoying.
The worst happened: Emilia had the 'oh so you were faithful to Emilia all along' line. The writers themselves included the part where both Sebas and danilo ask emilia what has Leo ever done to help you. Isn't that a bigger issue? Why mention infidelity when there are other ways Leo betrayed Emilia? His reaction to Sebas asking why he was with Sara was that Emilia was mentally unwell. How is that a response of someone who is in love with the person who is unwell? Or is it ok for Leo to abandon her because that's what you do when your partner isn't ok. This plot development is frankly baffling.
Are they going to keep Miriam alive? Urban did say she's too stupid to live so maybe her stupidity would finish her off. In that last scene with Seb, she seemed to be hinting she will always love Sebas when Andres was worried Sebas will no longer be his dad. The 'we will love him for the rest of our lives' part screams 'I'm still in love!Marry me!' Both Miriam and Leo have some kind of conviction their feelings are/will be reciprocated. Leo happens to be right, but I find it odd he was so csure of it. Miriam doesn't seem to be ready to give up even if she can't be sure. I wonder what she and Leo think other people find attractive about them. Miriam is as useless as Joaquina. Leo isn't much help either and I wonder how long his assertiveness will last. He always has a benefit of doubt for Roberta, but there's none left for anyone else.
Waterlily, such pearls of wisdom today! I devoured everything you wrote; you added so much, thank you, thank you!
"Sebas and danilo ask emilia what has Leo ever done to help you. Isn't that a bigger issue? Why mention infidelity when there are other ways Leo betrayed Emilia?" Of course you are right. Leo never had that unbreakable, staunch loyalty that galans have to the woman they love. He bascially abandoned Emilia for being "unwell" as you alluded. His doubts and suspicions toward Emilia clouded his mind and heart. He should have directed those emotions toward Roberta.
I did not understand the scene you referenced where Sebas told Miriam he doesn't know what he feels for Emilia. Oh my, I don't blame you for being "furious"!!I'm flummoxed. Truly.
Children have an immense capacity for love. Nico lived with Leo and it would stand to reason he would "choose" him although there is no doubt he loves Sebas as well. And what about little Andres who idolizes Sebas??? I know Miriam doesn't deserve Sebas but Andres is aching for Sebas as a father.
I can't thank you enough for your wisdom and wit in relating these pivotal and fascinating conversations and actions. Excellent, just excellent. I hope you enjoyed the play today!
Diana
Diana, I am very late to the party , but I wanted to thank you for another excellent recap as we struggle toward the finale.
Gee...Dan is tied and tortured , and Sebas gets bashed on the head by Patricio. The one thing I understood was Sebas mocking Pat for being in love with Rob.
Oswaldo looks like a hero. However, the writers didn't give him the lines of a hero. Que lastima. Susan
Susan, thank you so much!
Things aren't looking good for either Danilo or Sebas but Danilo seems in the most immediate danger.
Yes, Osvaldo does look "like a hero. However the writers didn't give him the lines of a hero" is exactly right!
Thank you for staying with us, even though you hadn't been able to watch. Appreciate your support!
Diana
Amanda calls Nico complaining that he took the kids to aggravate Tamara. He says the kids are his, too, and he can take them whenever he wants. Tamara blames Amanda and FINALLY Amanda tells her daughter that the children are hers and her responsibility, Amanda raised her kids already. When Tamara complains, Amanda tells her to hire somebody to watch the kids. Nico brings the kids back and tells Tamara that he is going to fight for custody of his children. He has a good lawyer and isn't afraid that Leandro is representing her. One more thing, he tells her that at least he always wanted the kids, not like her. Tamara ends up admitting to her mother that Nico is right. She never rally wanted children. She would have been happy as a professional without a husband and without kids but her father Everardo expected it of her.
Pablo visits with Dulce and is honest that it is really hard for him to understand what she has been through but he is going to try. Dulce says it would have been so much easier if he had originally paid attention to HER and not Carmina. They agree to leave the past behind but the situation goes sour when Pablo makes it all about himself and what his dreams were for his child as a father. Dulce asks why parents think that what they dream of for their children is the best for their children. She reminds him that he was never close to her. Dulce refuses to tell him who attacked her. Dulce wants to know how her brother is. She misses him so much and wants to see him. Pablo thinks it is better that Dulce stay away from her brother right now. That is it for Dulce. She is finished with him. She thanks him for trying. Tomorrow she is going to a shelter for her safety and is going to ask that nobody tells him where she is. Dulce leaves. Later, he tells Manuela about the failure of his visit with Dulce was. She will never forgive him. Manuela says that he doesn't know that yet. He also knows that Carmina is turning Pablito against him. Manuela advises him to talk to Palbito and tell him about Dulce. Pablo refuses. It isn't the right time.
Carmina tells Pablo that she and Pablito are moving back to Guadalajara. So There!
Franco is interested in Pablos's call for business projects that he might be able to support. He calls Pablo about a project he has and Pablo asks him to send him the info. Jorge is impressed with Pablo's plan
.
Vic decides to go with his family to Michoacán. He thanks Yaneli for teaching him a lot.
It turns out that Brisa and Angeles once were friends but Brisa felt a need to increase her popularity by gossiping. Angeles says the odd thing was that Brisa never had to do anything like that to be a real star. Angeles admits that Manuela is adopted and that Manuela knows it. They have told nobody. Angeles is asking that this time Brisa keeps this new information to herself. Angels says she is happy with how her life turned out. She didn't fit the image that sho biz had for her. Brisa says she gave so much to be famous that now she is destroyed. Later, Manuela asks Brisa if she relating wants therapy or if she made an appointment with her just to see Angeles. Brisa assure Manuela she really needs therapy.
Angeles tells Manuela that she told Brisa she was adopted. They agree that they need to tell Julieta. Little do they know that Leandro has Irineo looking into Manuela's parentage. Irineo shows Leandro Manuela's birth certificate but the dates do not fit with Angeles' age. Could it be that Angeles adopted Manuela? Considering Angeles' career, etc., Angeles probably adopted Manuela when she was a teenager. Leandro tells his minion to keep searching for more info. Who is Manuela really?
Yaneli has noticed that Genaro has come out of jail a changed person. She wonder if it is because she said she saw him hit Dulce. He says that she only had to do one thing while was in jail: to go to school, but then she ended up getting kicked out because of a teacher and now has a boy friend. It is as if she doubled the damage she had done to him. He refuses to talk about Dulce or what happened when he was in jail. He tells Yaneli that he does not want her pursuing anything against Edgardo. He will take care of him. Later in the episode, we see him punching Edgardo out on the school playground. He tells Yaneli that he will find a job but her only job is getting back to school and fulfilling the dream their parents had for her. Vic left them some money, too.
Axel tells Yaneli that he found an old phone of Edgardo's with photos of half dressed female students on it. It looks like they could have been taken in the locker room. He can see his uncle using the photos to blackmail the student. He thinks they can use it as proof against Edgardo. Axel and Yaneli wonder if the photos will help the other two girls, Sandra and Raquel, file charges.
PARENTAL PRESSURE NEVER CEASES: Paloma's parents tell her they would love to have grandchildren if they are going to be HEALTHY. It seems that Franco still hasn't told his parents about his HIV. They are eager to have grandchildren, too. Franco texts Paloma. Somehow it doesn't seem like they are going to be apart very long.
Manuela notices that Julieta is uncomfortable sitting down. She tells her mother that she pulled muscle in her dance class. She texts Chiro about how she is going to be prettier sooner or later. He tells her she will be the most beautiful of all. If it is painful, she should just put up with it and tell her mother she is having growing pains. He wants her to have a body full of curves for their first time together. Julieta wonders if he even exists since she has never seen him. He sends her another photo. Julieta wonders if that really is him or an AI creation. He suggests that she could be just an AI creation, too, but when they meet, neither of them will forget it. We see the hoodied figure, who is a creepy grown man with a scar on his face, outside of Julieta's house texting her as "Chiro."
Julieta is outside the school texting the spa lady Desiree about her side effects from the injection. She as a huge bruise, a headache and is dizzy. Desiree assures her that is normal. She just needs to take one of the painkillers she gave her. Julieta starts to faint but Susana the younger catches her. The school notifies Julieta's parents. Julieta comes to but then loses consciousness again. Soon Manuela and Pablo are with her and Pablo is carrying her to the car. Leandro sees that and is angered. He demands that he gives him his daughter.
Tha is it for me.
There were intense revelations and emotions in almost every scene tonight. While I could not understand much that transpired, I hope I captured the essence of some of what occurred properly. Kindly add what I missed and/or got wrong.
Leo catches up with Emilia, holding her as she tries to break away. They face each other, standing close together, Leo’s emotions seemingly too intense to bear. He tightens his grip on her and whispers it is you Emilia, you are my woman. No she denies, folding her hands as if in prayer; Emilia Sanchez is dead! No Leo argues, she is alive, and very brave. Love shining from his eyes, he again whispers it is you. He kisses her and envelopes her in a hug which she returns. She reiterates that Emilia does not exist; Emilia is dead. Roberta killed her; I am Victoria.
Roberta spews her venom about the “minera” to Fidel. What is the plan he asks. She carries on about Sara’s amante and declares Sara is crazy. Salud they toast as Sara silently descends the stairs. Still, Fidel stares at her as though she has two heads (actually five heads as she is indeed a hydra).
Emilia declares that the manicomio was hell; Roberta put me there she says softly. She mentions his being with Sara and laments the loss of her baby. They discuss Sebastian and Nico. Emilia doesn’t exist she declares again. They see the police and they walk off.
Miriam is attending to Danilo’s wounds. He tells her he loves Sara and she warns him about Addled. He manages to startle her by admitting Romina is his child.
Marat finds Sebastian on the floor; he manages to stand him up as Sebas clutches his head. He mutters Patricio is the perpetrator.
Zaira is trying to get Nico to eat. He asks about his grandmother and she tries to calm his fears about Victoria and Leo. Poor child. She leads him in the sign of the cross and they pray.
Marijo confronts Joaquina. Tears stream down Marijo’s face as she declares that my father is dead because of you. Mi nina Joaquina blubbers but Marijo declares she is not her nina. She cries and accuses Joaquina while Joaquina denies her accusations, pleading “por Dios”. Don’t mention God Marijo says angrily, you are an assassin and Roberta’s accomplice. “Basta” Joaquina begs. She finally tells Marijo that Leo is her son. Marijo stares, impactada.
An angry Tigre confronts Ramiro who tells him and Gael that Roberta has threatened him and his family – they are in danger he pleads. Tigre tries to rouse Ramiro’s conscience but to no avail. Ramiro isn’t talking and a disgusted Tigre tells Gael they are leaving. Ramiro berates himself in frustration and anger.
Sara calls Sebas and if anything important arose from their conversation, please enlighten me.
Diana
Marijo is still reeling from Joaquina’s revelation. Joaquina clutches the bars, explaining that she became pregnant. She gave birth in jail and she gave Leo to Roberta. Marijo thrusts her hands through the bars to comfort her. She explains why Roberta claimed to be Leo’s mother and then finally, the ultimate revelation, Roberta is my sister she admits.
Amazingly Sebas seems fine with no overt evidence of any concussion or bloody scalp. Roberta shows up to start another fire, declaring the mine is hers. Marat threatens to sue her for fraud. She is the devil Marat declares. If I had a dollar for every time Roberta was called some version of the devil or declared evil tonight, I would have amassed a small fortune. 😊
Roberta is monstrous is spoken aloud (Ka-Ching) as Marijo and Joaquina conclude their jailhouse visit. They discuss Nico, Leo and of course Emilia. They hug each other as Ezequiel crawls in to take Marijo away. Joaquina says she is Marijo’s mother but figuratively not literally I assume.
Just as Zaira tells Nico not to answer Leo’s phone he does just that. It’s Sara, calling to warn Leo but she has to hang up quickly when Addled comes in.
Sebas and Marat discuss Emilia/Victoria and Sebas’ romantic dilemma.
Zaira puts her coat on and Nico hugs her. She looks very worried.
Emilia and Leo are now inside and she vents her worries about Nico. He strokes her face and they hug. You aren’t alone he promises. But then Emilia brings up jail and the manicomio which are a direct contradiction proving she was very much alone. He tells her “I love you” (as if that will eradicate everything that happened to her). She caresses his face. They kiss and we finally see an emotional, romantic Leo. She removes his shirt and love making commences.
Fidel, Addled and Sare are meeting and shockingly Addled is stuffing his face. Sara isn’t sure where Leo and Nico are and Fidel bangs on the table. He grabs her and sits her down, threatening her and her daughter. Amazingly, Addled says nothing. He stares at her she looks at him incredulously.
Diana
Marat leads a meeting with Danilo, Aleida and Sebas. Aleida the restaurant is brought up but Aleida the character vociferously objects defending her son. Danilo comforts her and goes on about Roberta, a bona fide criminal.
Sara stares at her father and I think she said something to the effect she used to look up to him (?) She shakes her head in sadness and disgust and gets up. One of the workers tries to cozy up to Addled but he waves her off (does he actually have a pricking of consciousness?) Orlando sees Flor give a patron drugs.
Fidel and Roberta indulge in cringeworthy kissing. There was some mine talk about minerals and she addresses him as Senor Presidente.
Victoria and Leo talk about Joaquina and Roberta. Roberta is a monster; Joaquina sacrificed for you Victoria assures him. They exchange “te amo’s” and then kiss.
Orlando brings Flor into the storeroom. He reaches down her blouse and completely misinterpreting Orlando’s intentions, a delighted Flor starts to close the door. However, when Orlando pulls out a packet of drugs, she realizes the jig is up and looks suitably alarmed and ashamed.
Sara has Romina with her as Roberta slithers in. I believe it is time for the ceremony for Sara to be sworn in. There are guards milling about with black masks hiding their faces. One steps in front of Sara startling and stopping her in her tracks. He speaks and we realize that it is Danilo!!
Leo and Emilia are trying to reach Zaira and Nico bet there is no answer. There is loud, intrusive banging on the door. We hear Ezequiel’s obnoxious voice demanding the door be opened. As he bursts into the room he sneers that he is there to arrest Emilia Sanchez, the minera!
Diana
Jarifa, things are really percolating and you captured the action perfectly. Another amazing recap.
“Carmina tells Pablo that she and Pablito are moving back to Guadalajara. So There!” had me smiling away.
I am shaking my head in frustration that after everything that has transpired, Pablo lamented his child did not live up to HIS dreams and expectations. Manuela is right; Pablo should have talked to Pablito about Dulce; children are far more accepting and understanding than adults. Further, it is not only Dulce who needs her sibling; Pablito’s health is in grave jeopardy thanks to Carmina’s poison and he needs Dulce’s support just as much! So now Carmina plans to spirit Pablito away. What will happen when he has his inevitable health crisis and his father is far away?
Foolish Julieta! I am hoping she comes out of this unscathed and hopefully, much wiser. Her stalker is very creepy and seeing him in front of Manuela’s was frightening.
I loathe that Leandro is again one step ahead and researching Manuela’s birth origins.
Hot headed Genaro took Edgar down a peg and I admit I was happy he did it! Edgar needs to lose his teaching privileges ASAP and then go straight to jail.
I wonder when Genaro and Dulce will next meet and what their conversation will be.
Finally, Amanda finds her backbone and stands up to Tamara.
Vic we hardly knew ye. Nor did it seem did we needed to. 😊
Diana
Thanks, Diana.
Thanks for making me feel better by bashing Leo a bit:) It's not really bashing, but that scene where he tells her he loves her is a bit disappointing given all that happened. Emilia does say he didn't do anything to protect her when he had a chance. I've never before watched a telenovela where a galan makes promises to actually be a galan with 7 episodes left. It was a bit funny that first they show Sebas, who is like 'don't mind me, go after Patrichio.' Next they show Leo, who assures Emilia Nico is fine and whose main concern is if she will get back with him. If Zaira and Nico hadn't left and if Emilia and Leo had comea few minutes later, Leo would have been absolutely wrong about Nico being safe. I can see he is in love and so on, but couldn't that question have waited for a better moment? Leo even asks Emilia why didn't she come looking for him. He was married to someone else! He also says, in response to her remark he abandoned her at that hospital, that he was about to save her but she threw him out. Was he really? I honestly can't remember. Did he actually ever have a chance of getting her out of there. I remember him visiting once. I'm hoping to reach a stage of resignation soon when it comes to this pairing. But it feels such a waste of potential. They could have made this a bit more memorable by letting Sebas end up with Emilia.
It seems Joaquina and Roberta were victims of human trafficking. Joaquina got pregnant and had to steal after she left the brothel. This landed her in jail and Roberta promised to take care of Leo. By the time Joaquina got out, Roberta had already registered Leo as her son because she had a plan of keeping Esteban, Mauricio's father, with her by using Leo. I find this odd. Why would having Leo make him stay when he already had a son with her? So Roberta contacted the man who mad them turn into prostitution so that he'd kill Joaquina. Joaquina defended herself and Roberta made her believe she had killed the man. She got to keep the threat of jail over Joaquina's head for the rest of her life.
Roberta plans to kill Emilia of course and Danilo too once he is of no use to them and can't be used to keep Sara in line.
Tigre now wants to get Zaira back (oh well...)
I forgot to say that in the previous episode Gael dumped Cayetana. However, she doesn't like being dumped and so she used a variation of 'you can't fire me, I quit!' and'dumped him first'. I can't remember if we mentioned this!
Roberta wants some land from Fidel. He told her only first lady can get this, but the land is useless. Not to Roberta. It has a soft soil through which they could reach the betas of la cueva del diablo (what is it's new name?la gloria?). I'm guessing those betas are where there is the biggest amount of gold.
Danilo wants to kill Roberta but the good guys seem to think killing the devil would just turn them into murderers. I sometimes think their scruples are the problem. They can't reach those higher-ups everyone keeps talking about so Roberta is their best target. Aleida absolutely refuses to get the police involved and let them search the restaurant. Women in this telenovela are ready to rescue clueless/useless men any minute.
Diana: Joaquina still annoying & keeping more secrets. This means both Leo & Marijo are basically half-siblings.
SpanProf: Emilia & Leo getting their freak on at one of those hideouts during last night's episode. I got distracted by those weird looking eye contacts Emilia is wearing.
Darcy: Wake me up when the Karma anvil hits Addled, Patricio, Flor, Cayetana, Ezequivel & Co.,
Waterlily: Now we've got the Swagger Five: Emilia, Adelia, Danillo, Sebastian, Marat.
Waterlily, you drained the silt from the soil to reveal the gold. Thank you for all the important information you provided especially regarding Joaquina and Roberta being the victims of human trafficking, which is a horror one can only imagine. Your wise input has been invaluable and so, so appreciated!
"But it feels such a waste of potential" applies to so much and so many here; you are exactly right.
I am not a champion of Leo. I am more or less simply now resigned to he and Emilia being together; it is not a celebratory union for me. Sebas is more thoughtful and proactive in his defense of those whom he loves and far more selfless than Leo. Leo asking why Emilia didn't look for him sounds like a petulant, childish complaint. From a married man.
My short term memory is poor but yes, I do think he visited her once in the manicomio. And left her there. I wish I could remember exactly what happened when the manicomio was set on fire. I think that Leo held back and by the time he started to move forward to do something, the windows burst out and the blaze turned into a burning inferno. I think Sara also showed up as well to waylay him. Please correct me if I am wrong.
"Danilo wants to kill Roberta but the good guys seem to think killing the devil would just turn them into murderers". Yes, but how is she going to be stopped? Getting Roberta arrested seems improbable. If something isn't done, two more innocent people are going to be executed. I still have the sinking feeling there is going to be another sacrificial lamb and Danilo is high on that list.
I wish I cared at all about the Gael/Marijo/Cayetana triangle; hopefully Cayetana will fade into the sunset but knowing her, I doubt it will be that easy.
Still so much to be wrapped up!!
Diana
Gracias, Jarifa.
WTH does Leandro think he will find out about Manuela? What does he expect to do with the information? She knows she was adopted. While birth-parent info is useful for medical histories the only thing that could trump that could be that she is the long-ago-kidnapped daughter of royalty or at least someone very wealthy, but I don't see this story going there.
If there is a revelation tonight or tomorrow about the injection he will blame Manuela for it.
Tamara's confession did not surprise me, especially with Everardo having been her father.
I guess that Paloma and Franco will reunite; there is time for that.
Pablo blew it again. However, he will need to fight his harpy ex for custody of their son eventually. Screwing up on his reactions to Dulce is trumped by Carmina's putting Pablito in harm's way.
Thanks, Diana. "Vic we hardly knew ye. Nor did it seem did we needed to. 😊" You can say that again. What a waste of time that plot was! Was Vic brought in just to torment poor Yaneli even more? She didn't need it. So, we now have had a full look at the hoodied man and know he is close; not as close as Lino in "Vencer el desamor" but too close. ; ) Then, every time I think that Leandro is going to connect himself some how to the whole Dulce plot line by something he says or does, he doesn't. In the last episode he wanted to find out what Dulce told the prosecutor to be be able to protect his client Genaro. So frustrating!
Urban, right now there are one too many frustrating plot lines. "Tamara's confession did not surprise me, especially with Everardo having been her father." ITA the there were no surprises there especially with a mother like Amanda having been victimized by the same system. Tamara should have seen the movie "Barbie" before having married Nico. LOL "Pablo blew it again." He would do better to avoid talking to her until he can appreciate her situation. His absence would not leave memories of the inappropriate and hurful things he says and does.
Thank you so much for explaining that to me. I was totally lost in understanding the context of what happened
I didn't write down notes, so going from memory.
Marco goes to the barber shop where Rafa is getting a haircut. There is way more hair on the floor around that chair than could possibly have been trimmed off, and it is ALL the same color, that one has to wonder if he got an accurate sample, or someone else's hair. (Plot device.)
Alex tells Isabela that the lawyer checked, and Lorenzo filed the deeds at the courthouse for everything...the land, the house, the business. (Yikes ... I hope I got that wrong) All is lost. Isa tells him to let her talk to Lorenzo.
Rolo and Natalia discuss and plan their skulduggery to get Paula's fortune when she dies. Paula is now the muler de Rolo's vida.
Diego tells Pepe's daughter he is gay. Somehow, I was not surprised....even his camera looks pink. She doesn't care and says "let's just be good friends, then." I love how the younger generation makes no big deal out of this.
Pepe & Paula go rappelling. Apparently THIS is what MAL-ena does all day; this is her business.
MAL-ena cuts the rope that will hold Paula and it finally breaks. Paula plunges into the water and Pepe saves her. When she comes to -- in his arms -- she hallucinates that he is Germán and kisses him. (whoa!) MAL-ena goes postal about this. Well, her best laid plan just backfired.
Paula promises MALena that she will sue her because it's MALena's responsibility to maintain her equipment. MALena's defense is a strong offense, as always. I hate her. And her sprayed-on leggings.
Oh well, Paula crosses off rappelling from her bucket list.
Also, another rapeller filmed the Gran Beso and posted it online. Of course. It has gone viral and Susy & Teo have already seen it.
Diana, thank you for another excellent recap of all the turmoil and bubbling trouble ( aka Roberta and her minions).
Water lily , thank you for providing all those important details .
Okay, Em and Leo finally bunny hopped to an understanding ?? .....???
I am glad that Dan and Sebas survived torture and a crystal vase bashing respectively , but I am hoping that neither becomes the sacrificial lamb . At this point, I have no idea what will happen to these two . I am just hoping both will be with us at the finale . Susan
Another observation --- when Paula is done arguing with MALena about her equipment, Paula stalks off to ... wherever. The seat of Paula's leggings were hard to miss....either she has some of those famous see-thru LuLuLemons or she sat in the dry dust. It was a bit distracting from the main story. I cannot unsee that and wish I could. Just sayin'...
Ep. 7
Doris, Malena is not only a liar and a cheat, she is heartless. She should be high on the TOXIC mother list. She talked Teo into saying that he wants his family to be together as his birthday wish. This witch has no qualms about using her son to get what she wants (not necessarily loves) Pepe. And Doris, I too was surprised to hear that Rafa is younger than Pepe...just WOW!
Diana and Babachita, Pepe is growing on me too..and I'm finally getting used to the Paula-Pepe pairing. Agreeing to be "friends" was just too cute :-)
Alex is really stupid to join forces with Malena to keep Paula and Pepe apart. What an idiot.
Ep. 8
Toxic Malena scolds Teo for not helping her at all in getting Pepe back, And as he cries, she tells him he should have used those tears to work on his dad. WITCH!!
Alex is downtrodden because he talked to an attorney and their is nothing that he can do to keep Lorenzo from claiming his land. Apparently, Lorenzo was smart enough to register the property including the house in his name...40 years ago!! I'm having a bit of a problem with timelines. Lorenzo and Alex made their agreement 40 years ago and supposedly Rafa is 38??? So Lorenzo and Isabel didn't stop seeing each other??? I'm SO confused!
So those papers that Natalia had Lorenzo sign give he total control of the company. Another...WITCH!!
Had to laugh at Malena's little plan that totally backfired. Paula was hallucinating when she gave Pepe that juicy kiss, but he sure wasn't!
Gracia was a force to be dealt with finding out that Rafa is Malena's lover! And he has the gall to tell her that he is not betraying Pepe because he has been in love with Malena even since before they were married. So that should make it okay?? NOT!
I was pleasantly surprised at Andrea'e reaction when Diego blurted out that he is gay. But even though she took it in stride, he explained that he has never told anyone but he told her because he didn't want her to have any hopes.
Yikes, Suzy saw the video of the kiss and shared it with Teo! How will Paula and Pepe explain that one to them??
Coming into the home stretch...por fin.
I knew that Joaquina and Roberta were sisters long before this; it's not a new trope. Sadly, this still leaves Leo with a blood tie to The Hydra (That was a great one, Diana.). This confirms my belief that nobody will be safe as long as she's alive.
Fidel is dying his hair back to steel grey; that has to mean something. Addled is back into country plaid.
Is there anyone in that town willing to kill the Hydra before she kills that town?
Doris, I was writing when you posted. Thank you for your notes!
"one has to wonder if he got an accurate sample, or someone else's hair. (Plot device.): I wondered that exact same thing!!
Loved "sprayed on leggings" YESS!!! Quite distracting! LOL
Thank you so much Susan!
"Okay, Em and Leo finally bunny hopped to an understanding ?? .....???" had me laughing.
I hope the good are left standing at the end. But I'm disturbed by last night's turbulence. Hoping for calmer waters before the final tsunami sets in :D)
Diana
Urban, thank you! I must repeat "Fidel is dying his hair back to steel grey; that has to mean something. Addled is back into country plaid" and "Is there anyone in that town willing to kill the Hydra before she kills that town?" in their entirety as they were both great lines.
So many meetings and yet the Fab Four have still failed to come up with any sort of game plan as to how to vanquish Roberta. Will Marat bring anything to the mix? Too soon to tell.
Diana
Doris, what a fantastic recap. Loved "MAL-ena"!!
Marco has the best of intentions but I also thought that he likely got someone else's hair samples alltogether. Try, try again.
"Diego tells Pepe's daughter he is gay...I love how the younger generation makes no big deal out of this" mirrored my feelings exactly.
Thank you for explaining "MAL-ena's" daytime endeavor. I gather it's in her contract that her midriff be bare in all of her scenes.
I was surprised that Lorenzo is suing for everything and is out for blood.
Diana
Rgv Chick, thank you for your fantastic recap.
"Paula was hallucinating when she gave Pepe that juicy kiss, but he sure wasn't!" could not have explained it better! The longing and passion Paula poured into that amazing kiss was electrifying. Pepe was the recipient of mistaken identity, lucky guy.
Malena is a self-centered, selfish monster who doesn't love her children or even Pepe. She only loves herself. That scene with Teo was heartbreaking.
You surely must have read my mind as indeed, the tide turned for me last night. I now join you, Liz, Babachita (and likely others) in not only accepting (but actually sorta liking) Paula and Pepe. I love his interactions with the children, especially Teo. I judge galans by how they interact with children and I think Lanus will be joining the ranks of Yanez, Soto, Rulli, Levy and Zepeda of those who particularly shine bright.
Diana
Thanks Jarifa. It always surprises me when I see what I missed or misinterpreted. I could have an entirely different story in my head!
I had no idea Edgardo had pictures of half dressed students on his phone. What a sicko I was glad to see Género punch him even without knowing the phone stuff.
Nice that Vic gave them some money. I never really tried very hard to figure out their conversations. Why bring a character into the show so late!
So from all I learned as a student and then teaching, the bad guy is someone that’s been in the book, or program. So Chiro must be Manuela’s attacker, so someone else that’s been mentioned.
Pablo keeps blowing it! I’d feel sorry for him if I wasn’t so fed up. Pablito would love to know his sibling is around. And would adjust fine to Dulce. But I can’t see Carmina allowing that. I think Pablito is going to get real sick before they move.
I agree it’s crazy for Leandro to be looking into Manuela’s past. How can he use it against her?
Not surprised Tamara never wanted children. But Nico never struck me as a hands on father, so I am surprised he wanted kids.
Liz
Thanks Doris and Rgv Chick. I’m enjoying this show. I love Paula with Pepe. Even if they just remained friends they would be fun to watch.
I can’t believe Alex gave all his land and property away to keep Isabel. And apparently it didn’t do any good. I’m having trouble with the time line too. If Pepe is the oldest then Isabel cheated on Alex. Unless Pepe was one of theirs, not both.
Marco in the barber shop was funny. How many different DNAs will be in that bunch of hair? And I didn’t understand the haircut, Rafa always wears that hat!
Malena is worse than I thought. Aside from cheating on her husband with his brother, using her son and making it his fault, she also tried to murder Paula. Instead of filming the kiss they should have filmed the fall so Malena’s business would be ruined. And I can’t imagine not going to the hospital after a fall like that! And checking the rope. I think you can tell if it’s been cut.
Liz
Chickie and Doris, thanks to you both for the recapS.
MALena is mal..like really, really mal. She is willing to kill Paula to keep Pepe, but then she grabs onto his brother Rafa. At least , he took his cap off. What is up with that cap and Diego's bucket hat. QTH? Besides the sprayed on leggings, I am intrigued by the sleeveless puffer vests over the tiny sports bras .That's quite a look.
I agree that there was a lot of hair on the barber shop floor, so the DNA test may not be accurate. Whatever did the novelas do before we had DNA testing and cellphones ?
In " Invencible," we had a scene of a kiss where the guy morphed into another hombre in the leading lady's mind which made us wonder which dude she would end up with . The answer to that question was a big surprise. In this show, it seems to mean that Pepe is going to take her husband's place in Paula's heart.
I went back and studied Valentino's hair when it was down before he put it into his manbun . Unfortunately , I also wasn't a fan of it down. Val must be one of those guys who look better with short hair . However, Val is trying to be very dynamic in this role and seems to be putting his whole heart and soul into being a good hearted old fashioned galan....so there's that. The silver foxes have the looks here.. . Juan and Lizardo. Susan
Thanks both Doris and aRgv chick. I still have to watch the episode but I'll know what to expect.
Alex hates Lorenzo so much he'd rather see his son unhappy. So much for 'Ichose a great father'. If there's one thing that immediately makes me dislike a man, it's this sort of behaviour. How the hell did he arrive at the conclusion Malena loves her husband? I thought all along I wouldn't have chosen either of those two men. One runs off to Italy and the other one makes a deal with his rival out of spite and anger. They both might have loved her, but it's not love that seems to win in the end. I could strangle Alex for joining forces with Malena. I couldn't belive she thought Lucia would help her get back with her father. She spends no time with her kids and then expects them to do what she tells them out of some kind of loyalty she thinks is automatically owed to her. Is she this self-absorbed or also delusional? I hope poor Teo gets to tell the truth to someone. At least I hope he isn't afraid of her because I had enough of that terror in that tn where Zapeda and Gonzales were the main pair.
Diana, I also use this standard to juge galanes.I haven't met a man in real life who would be good with kids. Pepe's interactions with Teo warm my heart. It is actually a nice reversal of roles as in this situation a woman is often the one who handles things better. Pepe loves his son the way he is, which will play a huge role in the future I believe. What is the name of the boy who plays Teo?
I so wish Lucia had told her mother she knew who her lover was. Why did she keep quiet? I never liked this angle. I wonder if they are going to bring Pepe and Malena back together using the old tricks. Why is Malena so determined to keep Pepe? She has her own business and she could let him keep the kids. In fact, it would be even better for her because she'd be completely free.
It's a good thing Diego told Andra the truth before it was too late. Otherwise she might not have reacted this well. People being honest makes such a nice change.
Thanks Diana and Waterlily. Great job on all the events, which really seemed constant in this episode.
My thought is killing would be too easy on Roberta, she needs to suffer like she made Emilia suffer. I would like to see her go mad. She’s very close to it. All she wants is power and money. I wonder why Fidel thinks he’s safe with her. I think she’d be happy to get rid of him eventually.
This is just speculation, but maybe Roberta and Esteban weren’t married and she told him Leo was his. Then he married her. He could have broken up with her and then she returns months later with “his” baby.
Oswaldo was the chief of police. He should know some honest law enforcement people in other towns that could come in and take care of things. Too bad Patricio has all that proof!
The end is in sight and I’m ready for it!

Liz: I don't see Psycho Roberta getting killed off because it would be way too easy. Smarmy Fidel will plot one final attack against Adelia & maybe Crazy Whacky Sara very soon & with 8 episodes left, we're getting closer to seeing those Karma anvils with the names of the usual Antagonists' names on it.
"I gather it's in her contract that her midriff be bare in all of her scenes."
Diana - You are too funny!!!
"What is up with that cap and Diego's bucket hat. QTH?"
That hat always reminds me of Gilligan. (of the Island) And then I hear the theme song in my head. And it won't stop. ;-)
Add me to the list of viewers here on the Patio who are confused about the timeline. Rafa is 38 years old? The land papers were recorded 40 years ago? How old is Pepe? QTH? indeed. Time to start wearing our telenovela beanie hats?
Liz, "I think Pablito is going to get real sick before they move." that seems like a very good possibility. She still has Pablito drinking the tea which I am sure is doing a number on his kidneys as well as a doctor who is willing to lie for $$$. Nobody is happy in this story except for the uncles.
Question : Are Pepe and Malena in business together , or does Pepe do something else ? If so, What is his job? Susan
Thanks Liz!
"I wonder why Fidel thinks he’s safe with her". I know - really? She wouldn't hesitate to eliminate anyone who stands in her way. He has known her long and well enough to know that. Does he think he's immune from "prosecution??"
Agree Roberta deserves to experience what she has meted out. It would be more than fitting if she ended up in the manicomio. There are times we have witnessed flashes of insanity although she appears to be holding onto her own horrendous version of reality, at least for the time being.
Orlando is sweet and lovely to look at but not too astute in picking up clues that are right under his nose. Did any crimes actually get solved when he was in charge?? :) It took his mother five minutes to figure things out and it's only now that he finally realizes the restaurant is a front for drugs. Sigh.

Susan - I think Pepe works at the family restaurant, where the food truck is parked across the field, but I'm not sure.
Super job, Jarifa.
Pablo thinks it is better that Dulce stay away from her brother right now.
Ay, I thought last night that Pablo had reached new ground, but nope. I guess he should just keep his fat mouth shut.
Squee, fave scene: Edgardo's smug attitude taking flight when Genaro came after him.
That Tamara, after having kids, still feels she should've stayed child-free is so sad. If she really really feels that way, she should let Nico have custody. I'm wondering though if Nico is motivated by getting child support from Tamara.
Doris, thank you for letting me know Pepe's job situation . I wonder why Mal is so intent on keeping him if she has been having this long affair with his brother ? Answer : It's a telenovela , and the bad girl never gives the galan up without a big fight .
Susan
MALena is a psychopath and a sociopath. I agree that she doesn't love her children. She loves her own body, though, and it looks like her wardrobe is limited to spray paint and crop tops. I'd like her Karmageddon to involve being disfigured.
Everything is about "me, me, me" with her kind. She loves the idea of wrapping men around her little finger, cheating on them. and laughing at them behind their backs. Alex should see this but alas... he won't. At least not until ultimos capitulos.
Cool that the kids respect other people's sexual identities. I want to see the younger ones shock a few prudes.
No matter what the Lizard King says I don't think he cares for Paula's kids.
Thanks, Niecie. "I'm wondering though if Nico is motivated by getting child support from Tamara." i hadn't thought of that but it does fit with his character or lack of character we might say.
I want to thank everyone who has recapped and commented. I'm still trying to put the pieces together. I get that Andra and Lucia are cousins but who are Andra's parents?
Thanks
Bluejean - Andrea's father is Rafa. If I understood correctly last week, her mother (Rafa's wife?) ran off never to be heard from again. (but my Spanish isn't that great and I might be wrong about her)
