1/22/24
Here in the Bay Area in California Exatlon ran over 20 minutes. So here’s a few things that I saw.
Alberto tries to calm Nuria and let her know that she may not necessarily win on the first day.
Santi comes to see Violeta. She pleads for his help and insists she was working when Rosendo was killed. He tells her that he security cameras, unfortunately don’t show her. She confesses to Santi that she got Rosendo fired when their affair was consensual.
Tigre weasels info out of Chenta. She looks at him like he’s a roach, but tells him that Chelo is back at the pension. She tells him the name of the cheap motel where they hung out before Fausto ran. If it's true Fausto went back there, this makes no sense to me. Why wouldn't the police have gone there and arrested him?
The woman who ran the support group Nuria attended comes to tells Angustias that she heard that it was Mario and some friends who shot at she and Chalo. No matter how Chalo pleads, she insists she’s keeping up the fruitless yelling on the street.
Amelia continues wearing away at Viewerville’s good will by insisting that Andres is her son.
Santi and Nuria hit the hay.
Liana, nasty as always, knows about the legal proceedings for Andres and snarks to Mia.
Tigre shows up to offer Fausto money, saying he’s come from Braulio. Not sure what this is all about.
Amdres, of course, overhears Casandra, Martha, and Aida talking about the court hearing. He looks terrified.
Diego comes to see Braulio and ends up talking with Liana who looks at him like a spider seeing its prey. She confirms that the phone number on the phone bill is Braulio’s private number.
We see Braulio, Amelia, Santi, Alberto and Nuria go into court and the judge begin to speak.
I’ll try to see the rest of it online tomorrow, but that’s where my recording cut off.
Novelera: When can we expect the return of "ESDLC" this Spring ?
I'm assuming they're replace "VUELVE" at some point in the 8:00 PM CST timeslot.
Novelera, thank you very much for another great recap .
I recorded the episode, and the previous show ran long ,so I don't know if I got the entire show. The last scene I saw was Fausto striding into the courtroom. Uh oh . What lies is he going to speak ?
Liana looked very interested in poor Diego as she stared at him through those bangs .
Nuria and Santi " hit the hay ", so I am sure there will be a new bebe by the finale . Susan
Thanks Novelera! I have been so tired today, I don't know where all this tired is coming from, I feel like I could sleep for a week!
Peacock had the whole episode so I'm not sure where the broadcast did or didn't end. The biggest thing that happened after your recap ended is that Tigre's bribe was for Fausto to show up in court and lie and say that it was Nuria that was behind the extortion! The story is basically the woman scorned by Braulio decides to go after his money for revenge! And Fausto does just that, just as it looked and sounded like the judge was going to rule in Nuria's favor. Fausto tells his tale and says that even Amelia can confirm that it's true - Amelia didn't know any of this was going to happen. So the episode ends with the judge asking Amelia if it's true or not!! This is Amelia's edge of the cliff moment, will she jump all the way over and join Fausto and Braulio in lying to keep Andres from Nuria? Or will she maintain what's left of her dignity and tell the truth? We'll find out tonight!
Thanks, Darcy. It sounds like some of us watch differently. Where I live Channel 14 is Univision and Channel 48 is Telemundo. These are just regular local channels. I have DirecTV dish, so I can choose various packages. One of mine is the Latino channels. I even get reminders to pay my monthly bill in Spanish! I added this when I was doing many more recaps. The Latino package gives me the East Coast airings of both Spanish Language networks. That way I could record a 9PM novela at 6PM CA time or a 10PM novela at 7PM. This made it easier to do recaps earlier. However, for whatever reason, the recording of the East Coast airing appears sort of letterboxed instead of full screen and not in HD. I use Spanish captions mostly to be sure I'll get it all. With the smaller size, it's harder to read the captions when viewing the earlier episodes.
Now, since I'm not as active as I used to be in volunteering for certain days to recap, I just go with the regular network times of 9 and 10PM for Vuelve and Amor Imposible, respectively. I can put off watching Amor Imposible since there are no recaps and no comments. So I suppose the Exatlon finale, at least on my TV, ran long. If I'd been watching live, I'd have seen the rest of the episode. But my aversion to commercials means I always start watching the recordings at least 45 minutes later so as to skip them.
Novelera, yeah I am a cord cutter. I could still watch live on the local channel but I start work at 6 am so I don’t stay up that late. I just watch the episodes on the Peacock app the next morning. I remember when I was living on the west coast and had cable with both eastern and Pacific time zone channels, whenever I was watching a show I really liked I would watch it at the east coast time and rewatch it at the regular hour.
The other thing I remember is super best friend Mia calling Diego some name or another. She's like a hanger-on to the popular mean girl Liana. At least Liana has the excuse of serious mental issues. Mia is just being a jerk and could probably keep her job without going to the dark side.
I don't get the Fausto thing. His whole testimony could be refuted if Chelo becomes capable of being slightly less selfish. Santi is helping everyone else (including the women in prison whose name I suddenly forgot, and I had almost forgotten about her entirely), I'm sure he'd contribute to Chelo's defense fund of she needed it. Time for her to earn her redemption.
Bu mostly I love how Diego puts Martha in her place, respectfully but firmly. He deserves better than Amelia.

1/23/24 Pt 1 of 2
Amelia says the bare minimum in court. "Nuria Garcia’s sister and Fausto Melendez asked me for money in exchange for keeping quiet about whose child Andres was."
The judge declares a recess of 5 hours. Braulio mutters to Nuria that she should have accepted his offer (to marry him to have her child).
Martha is a total snobbish b*&ch to Diego, who’s come to see Andres. He doesn’t back down at all, reminding her of how Braulio treated Amelia. She tells him that Amelia is accustomed to high society. He just says that the marriage with her son is over, and he’s going to be there to love Amelia.
Braulio tries the old “I love you” on Amelia outside the courtroom, but she just walks away.
Braulio taunts Santiago with always being on the wrong side and harming his family. Santi goes after him physically. In the confusion Fausto goes out the back way, saying that he doesn’t trust Tigre.
As usual Aida reminds Martha that she’s totally off base (in refusing to admit how badly Braulio has treated Amelia).
Casandra tells Ari that she wants her first time to be with him.
Viewerville gets nervous because Andres tries to hide in Tigre’s room. He’s afraid he’ll be taken away from Amelia. He manages to get a peek at the photos in Tigre’s vengeance closet.
Mariano and Martha agree to give their relationship a chance and even kiss.
Braulio and Amelia come to Grupo Zepeda to wait out the recess. Braulio tries to convince Amelia what a smart move he made by having Fausto testify. She tells him they are NOT getting back tougher.
Aida finds Andres in Tigre’s closet. Somehow there are two separate sides, one with his photos, some of them crossed out, and another with just clothes. Andres tells Aida about the family photos.
Diego finds a hotel bill in Celia’s things. He calls trying to get information, but strikes out. [Huh? Is Braulio so cheap that he made Celia pay the hotel bill; if not why does she have a copy?]
Liana tells Braulio, while Tigre listens, that Diego told her about Celia and that he suspects Braulio may have something to do with her dying. Braulio more or less admits he had something going on with her but calls her una resbalosa (literally slippery, but used in TNs to mean someone easy to get on their back).
1/23/24 Pt 2 of 2
Fausto has been trying over and over to call the pension to speak with Chelo. We recall that he destroyed her phone. She finally picks up and tells him that she doesn’t want him near her or near her son. She knows about his lying in court. And, if he does it again, she’ll make sure he rots in jail. She’s going there to tell the truth.
Chelo insists to Nuria, Santi, and Alberto, that she is going to court with them.
Euge looks up pansexual online.
Chelo testifies. She does a good job, calm and factual. She says that the Chief of Police in Juarez was a friend of her husband Fausto. This man told them that there was a woman looking for the parents of a child named Juan. Fausto wanted to take advantage of this woman to get money.
The judge queries Amelia. She admits that she did look for the child’s parents. But when she saw the class of people they were, she thought he’d be better off living with her.
Alberto says that Andres thought he’d been abandoned because he lost his memory. But Nuria never gave up looking until she was told he had died. When she found out that was not true she looked for him ceaselessly.
The judge asks Amelia why there’s nothing in the file about the extorsion. Amelia says she though it would be simpler not to bring it up. The judge says that both Chelo and Amelia committed a crime.
They show Rai looking uncomfortable. What? Are they going with a recurrence of his cancer?
Liana gives two glasses to some guy Mia knows. Both Braulio and Tigre drank some whiskey from two individual whiskey glasses. She wants to find out if what Tigre said is true about being Roberto’s illegitimate son.
The judge orders psychological help so Andres can regain his memory. Both the biological and adoptive mother will be asked to follow a regimen to help with this. It’s important that the boy doesn’t lose contact with his biological mother. So he will remain under the guardianship of his mother, Señora Nuria García. Amelia and Braulio will have tonight to say goodbye.
Amelia tells Santiago he ruined her life. Nuria tells Amelia that she’s sorry. She can never repay all the love and good care that Amelia gave to her son, but she must know that he has to be with her.
EPISODE#75:
Novelera: Great job with the recap of last night's episode. Let's see if Amelia will try one last attempt in keeping Andres away from Nuria.
Jackass Braulio still an uppity jackass.
Liana still needs Karma anvils ASAP.
Thanks Novelera, your recap is great as always!
I can't believe Nuria got custody so quickly!! I expected her to get Andres of course, but not this quickly! I figured he'd have to go through therapy, and they'd leave him with Amelia during that process since that's where he's currently most comfortable.... but nope. This should be interesting!
Yay for Chelo finally standing up to Fausto and telling the truth in court (well, except for the Fausto was the kidnapper part) she's finding her backbone; hopefully she won't lose it again!
I wonder if reoccurring cancer would be painful that quickly? It seems fast but Rai's pain was definitely a warning sign.... sigh, can't anyone just be happy?
It was nice that Amelia wasn't willing to go as far as making false accusations against Nuria to keep Andres, but it's time for denial to end and for her to accept reality. When you start to look like Braulio, you know it's time for some major life changes!
I'm interested to see what the results of the DNA test will be, I vote Tigre isn't a Zepeda! And crazy auntie has been lying to and manipulating her nephew for years to serve her own agenda - whatever that may be....
EPISODE#76:
Novelera: Keeping my fingers crossed Amelia is among the living when this Telenovela ends.
Peacock shows the name of the episodes and when I saw the name of this one ‘Aida’ I had a feeling it would be bad, and I was right! ☹
Nuria and Chelo want to celebrate that Andres is coming home tomorrow and Santi goes to grab something celebratory while the girls tell Ros the good news. The celebratory mood doesn’t last long though because stupid Fausto shows up to ruin the party, the day, the peace; and everything else!
On the other side of town, the Zepeda’s mourn their loss. Martha is sorry but not surprised. Amelia and Andres are devastated. Braulio is an unhuman monster – who cares how he feels?
Fausto is threatening to kill Chelo and determined to take ‘Faustocito’, holding Chelo at gun point he demands the child; but the mama bear is alive and well and refuses. She begs, she pleads, and when nothing works, she finally tells Fausto that the baby is Jacinto’s in hopes that he will leave them alone!
Chalo congratulates Nuria on getting Andres back and the ladies send him to look for Chelo having no idea Fausto is there. Chalo arrives just as the situation with Fausto is escalating because Fausto is now wanting to kill Jacinto’s child. Chalo tries to calm things down, but we all know that was not going to work, especially since Fausto now knows the baby isn’t his.
Poor Aida goes back into Tigre’s room to check out the creepy closet and Tigre arrives! Aida hides in said closet, Tigre notices something out of place and just when he is about to catch her, Liana arrives and Aida is safe, for now! Little does Aida know she’s about to hear the whole run down of Tigre and Liana’s crimes and dirty deeds.
Ignorant of what is going on, Nuria is listing off all the things she wants to buy for Andres and Ros is advising her to take it slow and give Andres time to adjust, when they suddenly hear a gun shot. Ros goes to call the police while Nuria is off to check on Chelo. Nuria arrives on the scene so we can have three hostages and one crazy man. Nuria tries to convince Fausto to leave because the police are on their way, but he captures her instead and holds a gun to her gun. Fausto wants to know if Nuria knew that Chelo was cheating on him, but she doesn’t answer.
Unfortunately, the breakdown of all the evil is too much for Aida to hear and she accidentally bumps her head on the closet – she is heard and caught! Liana is horrified and Aida is hysterical and somehow still brave enough to tell both Liana and Tigre the truth about what kind of horrible people they are!! Which wasn’t really smart but…what’s done is done! To add horror to terror, Liana tells Aida that Braulio is a murderer too! Aida wants to know what the h*ll is wrong with these people, and it’s a valid question.
Backed against the wall, with no denial left to cling to, Amelia does the right thing! She has a heart to heart with Andres and tells him not to be scared, Nuria is a good woman, and she loves him. She knows Andres is scared now but this will turn out the same as when he feared the ocean; once he got in and started swimming, he had fun. Amelia assures Andres that she will always love him and always come to see him, but he will learn to love Nuria too because he has a huge heart.
Both Liana and Tigre try to offer Aida some ’ this is a misunderstanding’ and ‘ you look prettier with your mouth shut’ ways out, but Aida insists she’s going to tell, of course she’s going to tell! Liana loses it and stabs Aida in the heart with scissors!! As Aida lies dying, Liana is already filled with regret, she didn’t mean to kill her, she didn’t want to!! She evens wants to save Aida, but Tigre tells her that they have to let her die because they could never explain what happened if she lives!!!
Braulio and Martha have another Santi is the devil argument, as Braulio continues to blame Santi for this development. Martha says this was bound to happen and Braulio is appalled that Martha can put it so callously.
Fausto spills the beans to Nuria that he was the one who kidnapped Andres and that Chelo was his accomplice!!! Chelo swears that isn’t true! Fausto kidnapped Andres but she didn’t know anything about it, and when she found out she tried to find Andres! She tried to get him back. She only stopped when Fausto made her believe that Andres was dead! Fausto tries to plant his poison about Chelo being tired of taking care of Andres, but we’ll have to see later if any of that worked because for now we are in a life or death situation! Chalo gets the gun from Fausto momentarily when sirens are heard in the background but it’s short lived and Fausto grabs it right back! The police arrive at that moment and Fausto shoots at the officers who return fire!! Fausto is hit and Ros said it best: ‘God forgive me, but I hope he’s dead!!!’ I doubt he will be though because that looked like a shoulder wound to me!!! But maybe, they will keep him in jail now.
Amelia took the high road, but Braulio takes the despicable bottom-feeder, traumatize-an-innocent-child (once again) to serve my purposes road! Left alone with Andres, he tells him that Nuria and her people are dangerous people! He wants Andres to be strong and tell him if those people hurt him! He tells him not to be scared because he’s a man, and men don’t get scared! He wants Andres to promise not to believe that Nuria loves him or that she never abandoned him!!! He needs to reject her at all costs, or his Mommy Amelia will die of sadness!!! I cannot type any more of this crap!! Can Braulio die with Fausto?
Liana freaks out and Tigre gives lessons on how to get rid of a body and leave no traces…. I even like these two more than Braulio right now. They dodge Martha looking for Aida and Tigre lies to her about Aida going out somewhere.
Amelia and Braulio talk. Amelia even suggests they start calling Andres by his real name to avoid more confusion. She wants to do the right thing and help Andres adjust to Nuria. Braulio isn’t on board…. Juan is Juan Zepeda and that is all there is to it! Amelia lets Braulio spend the night in the guest room since it’s their last night with their son.
Amelia is in bed with sleeping Andres, and she thinks back on all their moments getting to know each other and his adoption. She hears a noise, jumps up, and goes downstairs. Unfortunately, Tigre and Liana are moving Aida’s body at the same time, they hear Amelia and duck quickly! Amelia calls out for Aida thinking it is her, but she doesn’t see Liana or Tigre… yet!
Attention everyone. The 9th Season of "ESDLC" will begin on February 13th. You know that I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this one again!
Parachuting in from diziland.
With each new season I say I won't watch, but then I tune in to the first ep and end up casually watching. It's like watching a train wreck... I can't help it.
vuelve and imposible are both ending. Is anything else coming? I hope Telemundo doesn't give us two hour ESDLC episodes all season.
Hi, Steve and Dondi, I only caught a few episodes of this Show, but the leading man is kind of fascinating in his badness and his interactions with various and sundry women. Yikes. I have no idea what has happened in the past on this show, but it seems like a wild, scary ride .
I wish Telemundo would show another good dizi.
I an currently watching a few shows on Univision and awaiting " El Amor No Tiene Receta" starring my current favorite Daniel Elbittar . Susan
Darcy, thank you for capturing every dastardly detail in that snappy recap .
I am hoping that Santi gets a chance to give both Fausto and Braulio a couple good punches.
Yikes ...Liana has sealed her fate anvilwise by stabbing poor Aida with the scissors . I had to surf out when Aida lay dying on the bed with Liana and Tigre just staring at her . cold. Uff There is a lot of buzz inline about Kim Los Ramos's new brunette look and her first leading lady role as the good girl .I wonder if she is a natural brunette.
Amelia finally deserves Diego again now that she has done the right thing and had that loving talk with Andresjuan. She will surely get her HEA with Diego and his little girl and see Andrew a lot when Santi becomes his stepdad.
Braulio just sinks lower and lower . His anvil is moving into place directly over his big , empty bead.
Did we ever find out who Juan's father? Was he married to Nuria? Susan
Susan, Kimberly has had at least two prior leading lady roles as a good girl that I can think of. Tierra de Reyes and Quien es Quien. Both shows were very good and she did well. Although I guess you could say she was co-protagonist in those two. Since Tierra was about three sisters who were all equally leading ladies, and Quien es Quien had two leading ladies and twin brothers. So maybe this is her first role as the solo leading lady. I’m curious about it too, she’s a great actress but she’s oh so good at being bad!
Darcy, thank so much for the recap. I'm in a big rush today and heading out to my book group January book selection for 2024 gathering. I haven't had time to read your recap, but will do so later and likely comment on the next page
