VENCER LA CULPA #38/39 Page 1

Busy evening so this is more like bits and pieces of tonight's episodes. Please add anything I left out.

The brat tells her father that she will help him to make sure that her mother doesn't end up with another man. She suggests they all go on a dream trip to South Korea. Leandro plans the trip for three without notifying consulting Manuela.

Pablo admits to Manuela that he threw his son Damián out of the house because he found out that he was a homosexual. Carmina told him that Damián was dressing his little brother Pablito in girls' clothes. Damián denies it saying that Carmina has hated him from the start. Pablo admits that he was afraid that Pablito was going to catch the "gay" from Damián. (Several episodes ago, Pablito was talking to his mother telling her that Damián never did to him what she told his father that he did) Manuela says that she noticed how uncomfortable he was at her house and how quickly he left when her cousin Ricky and his partner greeted him. Pablo says that he was raised with homophobic ideas and he knows they are wrong but he wants to change. He still cannot believe that Damián would ever have hurt Dulce like she said he did in the letter.

Pablo meets with Chiro and finds out that Damián was friends with a guy called El Muñeca (the doll) who started dressing like a girl. He disappeared. Shortly after, Damián disappeared, too.

Carmina still insists she is supporting Pablo but is also trying to make him feel guilty about having moved out and not being there for theirs son.

Yaneli is put through another "hearing on the hoof" where her friend is asked if she flirted with Edgardo. Her friend has to tell the truth and says that was her plan. Yaneli goes off on Edgardo in the classroom telling everyone what he did to her. He tells her to leave. The head of the school tells her she is expelled. Manuela and Vicky the lawyer go to bat for her and visit the school. They want Yaneli to be reinstated. The head of the school has a counter offer. He is willing to say that Yaneli was expelled for non-payment of tuition and to give her a good character reference for a new school. None off the women like that offer. Manuel and Vicky tell Yaneli they are going to fight for her concerning the expulsion.

Vicky tells Manuela that she needs to turn over the box and its contents to the prosecutor's office ASAP of she could be charged with obstructing justice Manuela says she will after she talks Genaro first. She still doesn't know who his lawyer is. The letter might help Genaro's case. She certainly doesn't want Leandro to know that the box and its contents exist before Genaro and his lawyer know. Pablo blames himself for what Damián became and what he did according to the letter.

In a series of flashbacks, we find out that Amanda had a novio Martín who was a veterinarian in training and that her parents pressured her to marry Everardo. She saw him after he was a vet and she was married to Everardo. She told him she was sorry she never fought for him. We see how abusive Everado was to her from the early days of their marriage. In the present Amanda assures Everardo that Leandro is his son. She reminds him of how happy he was when Leandro was born. She doesn't know that Everardo had Nico run another DNA test. We know that Nico brings him the results but we do not know who the test is concerning or what the results are but Everardo is left in a pensive mode. Everardo take s turn for the worse and on heh way to the hospital, he tells Amanda she needs to come and see him because they have something to talk about.

VENCER Page 2

Manuela goes by a building where she once was going to buy an apartment. Shortly after she told the owners she was interested, she was told it was sold. She gets the business card of the new owners. By checking it with one in Leandro's drawer, it turns out that the person that bought the apartment was one of Leandro's lawyers, Irene Trujillo, who then resold it. For Manuela, it is just more proof that Leandro cannot be trusted.

At the reception, Pablo accuses Manuela having a roll in the hay with Pablo. She denies any such thing and reminds him what she does is none of his business. She is in love with Pablo and what is more, she will never ever fall in love with Leandro again no matter what he does.

Nancy tells Carmina that a detective supposedly has Damián's address.

Leandro pays for all of the expenses at the grand opening. He also has professional photographer who does a family portrait. After the photo is taken, Leandro makes sure that Amanda is labeled his partner when the pictures are published.

Amanda tells Leandro about Everardo and the DNA test saying that the brat wasn't is daughter. She fears he is losing it. Leandro says he has no doubt that the brat is his.

Paloma is appointed to Obregón's vacancy as the new creative director of the company.

Paloma's parents are still gambling. They have rented a room in a a bad neighborhood as a ruse and tell her that is where they are living. She comes to see them and decides it isn't safe and decides to find them a place in a better section of the city. She will help them pay for it. Her father tells her mother they will be back at Paloma's place in no time at all. He doesn't that she will be able to afford their rent and the mortgage on her apartment. Little do they know that Paloma has followed them back to a luxurious hotel room where they are treating themselves to room service and more! They think they are home free when there is a knock at the door. Is it take out? No, it is Paloma who has seen through all of their lies.

Walter wants to resume his romance with Paloma. She is only interested in being friends. He keeps trying to be useful hoping she will change her mind.

Amanda is stil catering to Everardo's wishes. (WHY???)

Gossip flies about Franco's HIV and he cannot get a new job. He is still thinking of Paloma.

Yaneli will stay with Amanda until it is safe to go back home.

I'll get the recap up later today. Finishing it up!

Thanks Jarifa, you’re doing an amazing job on these double recaps. The two hours seems to fly by when I watch. So much is happening in each episode.

Leandro is much worse than I originally thought. He is really a criminal. Manuela needs to move out and just hope the brat realizes what her father is like.

I loved how Paloma caught her parents in their lie. Maybe they’ll get jobs by the end. I just hope she doesn’t help them anymore.

I feel really bad for Franco. Hard to believe there’s people out there with those views I want to see the former boss get what he deserves in the end. Paloma should hire Franco.

The big mystery is what’s going on with these missing kids. And I’m completely clueless! I do feel Carmina doesn’t want Damian found. I was hoping Pablo heard something really incriminating when he heard the end of Carmina’s conversation with Nancy, but I guess not. And I think Amanda’s going to eventually tell all to Leandro.

Liz

VENCER

Liz, thanks. The action has really ramped up recently. Talking about criminal, I couldn’t believe the briefcase full of money Leandro happily received in his office from some kind of payoff, I presume. He is so full of himself, I can’t take it! LOL “And I think Amanda’s going to eventually tell all to Leandro.” I hate to say that I agree with you but I do. I find her frustrating. Here is hoping Paloma hires Franco!

VENCER

Jarifa, another amazing summary. Thank you for staying up so late to provide such a clever and informative recap.

I had never heard "hearing on the hoof" before, what a great expression.

So many wonderful lines but loved “They think they are home free when there is a knock at the door. Is it take out? No, it is Paloma who has seen through all of their lies”. I wonder if Paloma will really sever their relationship this time.

Like you Liz, the most compelling storyline here for me is what has befallen Dulce and Damian. So, Carmina’s lie is what led to Damian’s expulsion from the home. Still, it was Pablo’s decision and it is he who is responsible for whatever has befallen his son. Was Damian falsely accused of being the bad seed or was someone using him? I believe Dulce’s sentiments in her letter were true but something seems “off”.

I’m glad to see Amanda did experience love with Martin. It looks like Leandro might not be Everardo’s after all. Well, if he isn’t his biological son, he “inherited” his loathsome, lying, manipulating traits.

Best moments were Manuela telling Leandro she loves Pablo and Paloma finding her parents living in the lap of luxury.

Pablo being homophobic was one disappointment among many.

Diana

Vencer

Jarifa, thank you for another detailed recap.

Paloma is finally seeing what her parents are doing . I cannot imagine parents treating their child this way. I wonder what they were like while Paloma was growing up . She seems to be a levelheaded, good hearted person . How did she turn out that way with such selfish , conniving parents ? I think that she will end up with Franco. Good usually triumphs over bad in telenovelas .

Manuela fights on , too. I am glad the women are stepping up to help Yaneli as we get PSAs about sexual harassment . Women are no longer just putting up with it and ignoring it the way they did in the past.

I hope we get some answers about the disappearances that make sense.

Onward we go. Susan

Vencer 38/39

Gracias, Jarifa. Tonight will be the hump.

Paloma and Franco are birds of a feather with their toxic parent situations. She really needs to go NC with hers after this discovery. They are not done with their selfish and destructive actions.

Everardo is playing games again in his terror campaign against Amanda. Leandro is just as bad so how could he not be his son? Every time I see Everardo in the opening credit throwing water in Amanda's face I want to throw something at the screen.

Do Mexicans hate women? I can think of no other explanation for Yaneli to still be in Edgardo's classroom. Are the school authorities looking to destroy her? This should not be happening.

Not sure that Damian dressing his little bro in girls' clothes means that he's gay but it is an old wives' tale.

"MINAS"/OT:

Weirdo: Looking forward to seeing your recap of last night's episode.

VENCER

Diana, thanks. "I had never heard "hearing on the hoof" before, what a great expression." I tend to get "creative" when I am tired. : )
"I wonder if Paloma will really sever their relationship this time." I hope so but TRUE CONFESSION: I have to admit that last night there was a scene last night where i found her parents actually funny when they usually grate on me. Someone mentioned earlier that they were probably supposed to be the comic relief and they probably are with their weird musical theme. Humor is so individualized across people and across cultures. I hope we do to have to wait until the end of the novela for the missing persons cases to be solved.

Susan, "Manuela fights on , too. I am glad the women are stepping up to help Yaneli as we get PSAs about sexual harassment . Women are no longer just putting up with it and ignoring it the way they did in the past." Manuela had a great scene where she told smirking Leandro how it was and that she would NEVER get back with him. i wonder what she will do when confronted by a trip for the "family" to South Korea. I am happy that you are sticking with us through this one.

Urban, "Do Mexicans hate women?" They do have a problem with women just going "missing" like Dulce. That being said I see it as just one example of a larger problem worldwide with misogyny even in our own country. "Not sure that Damian dressing his little bro in girls' clothes means that he's gay but it is an old wives' tale." The truth is he never dressed is brother like a girl. It was all a lie created by Carmina to get Damián in trouble with his father.

Although I hated finding out that we had another homophobe in Pablo, I did like that he wanted to change and that he and Manuela discussed that in spite of how he was raised that way, he could change those deep seated feelings over time and with different experiences.

Can't wait until tonight!

You're right Jarifa. There is hope for Pablo even though his prejudice was so surprising and disappointing.

Diana, I appreciated the realistic approach that people do not change, cannot truly change their feelings overnight.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 85 - Jueves, 4 de Enero, 2024

I can't think of anything else except "Are we ever going to get happiness in this show?" - Part 1/3

We get a repeat of the last scene of the previous episode, as always.

Gigí has invited a random guy she found in a dating app home. That seems like a really bad idea. The guy arrives and immediately flirts with her. Gigí says that she thought he was older from his picture in the app and he replies that age is just a number. He puts his hand on her thigh. After seeing Gigí's expression, he takes away his hand, but Gigí puts it back on her thigh. I wonder why they're showing us this. I even thought of (just a theory) Addled somehow finding out about the dating app and sending this guy so he (Addled) catches Gigí "cheating" and pretends he's the victim here. I have him capable of doing something like this. Killing two birds with one stone; making himself look innocent while undermining Gigí's campaign.

Leo and Roberta still fight about who will take Nico with them; Leo says that Nico is his son, but Roberta replies that he was Mauricio's son, not his. She claims Mauricio would want her to have Nico with her, not Leo and tells him not to pretend to be sorry for his death. Leo mentions that she got Ignacio's inheritance so he can have Nico live with him, so if she takes Nico she'll return it, right? Uh, W.T.F. Roberta says that the inheritance should have been hers from the get go and no, she won't return it.

Victoria watches Nico through his laptop talking to his mother, asking her for help. Vic says (Nico can't hear her) she's right here. He calls her and says he needs help because his dad broke up with Sara and his grandmother Roberta doesn't love him.

Zaira and Tigre have a fight about the divorce. She asks him if he's asking for divorce because of Lolita (Dolores = Lola = Lolita) and Tigre lies that yes, it's for Lolita! Zaira says she won't beg him, she has dignity and since they're telling the truth, she's tired of being with someone who has s bad character. She also mentions "the tiger found his cat". Tigre replies it's good the finally talked openly. He says he'll leave but she mentions him leaving in three days. She tells him she hopes he's happy and leaves while crying. Tigre, after she has left, says to himself that he did it for her life.

There's a disturbing dialogue between Sara and her dad. She wants to leave town but Addled insists that she has to win the elections. He grabs Sara by her arm and she says he's hurting her. She refuses to continue this lie and mentions Leo leaving her. Addled says he doesn't care even if she sells her soul to the devil, he just wants her to win. When Sara says "no" another time, he says with him, "no" doesn't exist. I kind of got the chills. He drags her and tells her the only way she'll leave town is dead! Sara cries and asks him repeatedly "what do you want me to do?" He says she'll do what she has to (win the elections). Both actors were perfect in this scene.

Victoria advices Nico to talk to Leo, but he says no. He tells her they're in the house they lived with his mom. Roberta and Leo come in and Nico hides the phone. Victoria sees Roberta telling Nico they're leaving and Leo that he's tearing the family apart, Leo saying she doesn't care about the family, only about controlling them and she can't have them under her control anymore and Nico himself telling them to stop fighting. Leo says that she'll take Nicolás over his dead body. Don't give her ideas, Leo...

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 85 - Jueves, 4 de Enero, 2024

I can't think of anything else except "Are we ever going to get happiness in this show?" - Part 2/3

Addled goes by the bar and tells Flor to get Míriam into the drug business because people like her or something. Flor expresses some objections of hers, but Addled threatens her about her mother's medicine and she doesn't have room for objections. She has to find a way to persuade Míriam, because she can't know about the drugs without being part of the business.

Nico begs Roberta not to hurt Leo, he's the only one he has left. Roberta and Leo continue fighting, Rob says something about taking this to court. She unfortunately spots Nico's phone and sees his latest call was to Victoria. She thinks Leo made the kid spy on her or something. Leo tells her not to be paranoid, she can't think everyone is spying on her. Rob says she doesn't think everyone is spying on her, she KNOWS everyone is spying on her. At the end, we have Leo and Nico hugging and Nico saying the yo te a-mo tú me a-mas game, with Victoria, the phone still on her ear, adding the yo más part.

Roberta leaves, enraged. She mumbles something I didn't catch and calls Ezequiel.

Emilia is looking at a picture of Nico and says to herself that she's so close but so far away from him. She hears instruments playing and comes out of her room to see Sebas, dressed up (and with another 6 men with instruments) singing to her. A serenata! Just when I missed Sebas' singing.

Turns out that the dude Gigí brought home is a prostituto. She cries about not wanting to pay for love, she wants a guy to truly love her for who she is. The dude tells her he hopes she finds him. Nothing will happen here, as far as it seems. Gigí says that if ever wants to change jobs, he should call her and she'll try to find him one? He says okay and adds that they should enjoy the champagne. Gigí laughs as he opens the bottle.

Roberta has made Ezequiel dig up to find Emilia's coffin, WT actual F. He says he's tired and maybe they should call backup but Rob says she doesn't want anyone else to know or she would have done it legally. Ezequiel continues to dig.

Emilia tells Sebas "te quiero" while Sebas tells her "te amo". It might seem like a subtle difference, but "amo" is for romantic relationships and for family, while "quiero" can be said to anyone, even to your friends. Did Emilia just reply "I know" to "I love you"? Geez. They kiss. Emi takes him to her room. Her phone rings -damn it Leo!- and she says she has to see who it is, it might be Nicolás. She shows Sebas it's Leo and he tells her to pick it up, it might be something important. He's clearly a bit angry though. She says the only important thing now is what's happening between them. They kiss again. Are the writers playing tricks on us or...?

Some servant informs Marijó about Joaquina and Cayetana leaving. Marijó's sad.

Sara is crying when someone knocks on her bedroom door. She says she wants to be left alone, but Marijó enters anyway. There's a screaming match, but at last, Sara lets Marijó stay and says she doesn't know how she can escape the mess she created. She has turned into a horrible human, making one mistake after the other. That's a rare moment of self-consciousness. Marijó manages to calm her done talking about how she felt when her dad died. The talk ends in a hug and with Sara thanking Marijó for listening.

The writers ARE messing with us. Nothing will happen with Sebas and Emilia either. Sebas is really sweet but Emilia is disappointed by herself, so are we by her. She rhetorically asks how she can get someone out of her heart as we see Leo. Oh yeah, there's was a scene with Leo holding Emilia's picture, but it was FF--> material.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 85 - Jueves, 4 de Enero, 2024

I can't think of anything else except "Are we ever going to get happiness in this show?" - Part 3/3

Ezequiel FINALLY finds the casket. Roberta wants him to open it and get some skin or another part of her to test if she's Emilia Sánchez. Ezequiel says something about her coming to haunt their houses LOOL but Roberta says she doesn't care if he believes in ghosts. Ezequiel, boy, you've done worse than open a casket.

Cayetana and Joaquina are in Veracruz, at Cayetana's mom's place. She and Cayetana leave and Joaquina stays in the house.

Nico asks Leo to let him go to the mines with him. Leo says okay, as long as he goes to school tomorrow. When Nico goes to change, Leo says "Emilia, help me help him!" There's a knock on the door; it's Sara, who gives him the divorce papers, signed and asks him not to make this public. She has to win the elections and they have to see them united and with the kids. I think Leo says something about them always being united for Romina but is generally not happy with the whole election thing. Sara tells him about her father saying that the only way she'll leave is dead and Leo mutters that it's horrible or something but he can't imagine Addled doing something like this?

Sebas brings a file to Emilia. She says she wants to talk about them but Sebas replies that he told her everything yesterday and he doesn't want to discuss it. Emilia says okay and Sebas tells her about Tigre not wanting to do the surgery. I'm pretty sure Emi will go to persuade him to change his mind, I can see it. Sebas leaves. Joaquina calls her and warns Victoria about Roberta. She mentions she's in danger and adds that she has left town. I think she was about to tell Victoria something else or Victoria asked her something. In both cases, something went wrong with the phone call and Emilia never heard it. Emilia now calls someone else and tells them about Joaquina. IIRC Emi wants to know where she is because she thinks Joaquina is in bigger danger than she is.

Unfortunately we get yet another Roberta-Fidel bed scene. Why, what have I done to deserve such punishment? They talk about Victoria. The dialogue is kinda boring until Roberta tells Fidel about forcing Ezequiel to dig up Emilia's coffin. Fidel freaks out and tells her she has broken the law. *Eyeroll* Really? She has blackmailed, locked up innocent people, even KILLED people and he choses to say that she's breaking the law now? Roberta eyerolls alongside me and says my point, "I've already broken it and more severely". She insists on Victoria being Emilia and Fidel insists he should forget about Emilia, plus they've searched Victoria.

In the last scene of the episode, Victoria is trying to persuade Tigre to get the surgery. She says something I didn't really catch, something along the lines of "I want to see Tigre Sánchez walking like he used to" and Tigre, for whatever reason, says "Emilia!"

And with that confusion, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

MINAS

Weirdo, thank you for your outstanding recap, illuminated by your wry humor and peppered with razor sharp comments.

“Unfortunately we get yet another Roberta-Fidel bed scene. Why, what have I done to deserve such punishment?” was perfect and had me nodding in agreement.

Addled is a brute, masquerading as a clown. Uncouth, ill mannered, seemingly buffoonish but make no mistake, very deadly. Purposefully trying to engage his child’s mother with drug trafficking, threatening his wife, and now, his daughter. Prior, I would not have thought him capable of following through on his threats. But I do now.

Karma is indeed coming for Sara. Now that she is boxed into a corner by her abusive father, she rues her mistakes. She admits “she has turned into a horrible human, making one mistake after the other”. Is it too late for her salvation? I would not bet against it.

Roberta was right in one aspect. I do believe Mau would definitely prefer Nico with her and not Nico. At least Leo seems firm and resolute in keeping Nico with him but he always does everything so dispassionately. Where is the hot anger? It was certainly warranted here.

So Tigre is letting Zaira go for her “own good”?? Pleaaze!!

I had to smile at Ezequiel shoveling away. Enjoy your labors in the grave and the sure to be ensuing nightmares.

The one bright light was handsome Sebastian in his beautiful white and gold outfit, surrounded by his mariachi band serenading Emilia. Although we knew this was not slated to be a romantic ending, it was lovely for the few minutes that it lasted. Emilia really wanted to feel and reciprocate Sebas’ love but in her heart, I believe she knows that will not happen.

It seems we are always on the edge of discovery but…Does Tigre really think Victoria is Emilia or does she just remind him of her?? I vote the latter.

Joaquina is in grave danger…

Cannot wait til tonight. Thank you again Weirdo!

Diana

Minas #85

Thanks, Weirdo. And I agree; this does look like no happy endings are in sight.

I agree about Addled; he is a monster. However I think he is no match for Roberta who is likely to do him in before meeting her own Karmageddon. She will be the last of them to bite the dust. He may just be crazy enough to kill Sara although one hopes that Gilberta could stop him if only to show him his own lack of worth as a human being.

Since Mauricio had the same sense of entitlement as his egg donor I agree. He thought of Emilia as his property and so he would think of Nico as such. He also hated Leo just as much as Roberta does.

It is high time for Tigre to recognize his own daughter.

Minas
Thanks so much, weirdo.
Your comment 'are writers playing tricks with us or' was exactly what I was thinking during the serenade scene. Even the glass of wine I'm having can't make me forget how pissed off I was later. What I cannot understand is why they do this when they made Sebas into such an attractive guy? Like, what is the point when we know the alternative is Leo? Or is this the reality aspect where a woman ends up with a useless guy of whom everyone says 'why did she marry him?' Leo isn't as bad as those reality examples but he is no catch if you know the whole story. I have to laugh at the whole thing now because right before the serenade, Emilia said Nico need a good father, a man who was honest, loyal...And then the song plays and... So the writers do know what's what so what the hell is going on here? Why turn a good thing into such a trainwreck and make us watch it? Surely they are paid enough in order to at least write decent scripts? Leo did say he'll make sure Nico stays with him, but the problem is he hasn't had to do anything yet and I do wonder what it is he'd do as he never did anything. Roberta bribes, plots and murders. What can an apathetic, passive guy like Leo do against her? Especially as the poor thing actually thought Roberta would return his inheritance. Sure, later she'll turn herself in, Leo. I hate that they make good people here look so stupidly naive. Maybe his line would have sounded a bit better if he had just said 'return my inheritance' because 'you are going to' makes it seem he expects her to be honest. I've read a line somewhere that good people are easy to control. This must be why that is. But they let Leo talk without forcing him to do anything. Emilia is again starry-eyed and says 'you really love him' after thatscene with Leo and Roberta. I'm guessing she means her adored Leo loves Nico because he made a promise he might not even have to keep.
It's funny that Ezequel is affraid of the dead and not the living. It doesn't occur to him he wouldn't fear them at all if he hadn't hurt then when they were alive. So he can put innocent people in jail but can't open a coffin. Interesting.
Sara doesn't strike me as someone who would let people treat her the way her father does so it was shocking to watch her burst into tears when her insistance 'no one willshout at me' failed. But I wonder where this goes. It's not just that she 'made mistakes', she was also selfish in general. How much empathy can a person actually 'learn'? Even Leo's sufferring mattered to her only because she wanted to marry him. She shows no interest in Romina and even if Romina burst into tears because of how strict and cold Sara is, would Sara care enough to try a different way?And what about Danilo's feelings? Shejust told him 'live as you used to'. So it's not just 'I made a mess of things'. It's more like 'other people don't matter to me all that much'. For an independent women, she was pretty stupid to get involved in this.
I hope Miriam won't agree with Flor's suggestion.
I think Emilia saying I want the tigre I used to admire is what gave her away finally. Tigre earlier also tells her she has to concentrate and leave all other concerns outside, to which she responds 'someone once told me this'.
What I liked about the episode was Sebas singing and Mari telling to Sara that Ignacio used to say that there's always something you can do to improve a situation. I don't know how true it is but I suppose she could do what Danilo suggested.

Gracias, Jarifa. I too loved "They think they are home free when there is a knock at the door. Is it take out? No, it is Paloma who has seen through all of their lies." - lol

It's bad enough to be homophobic, but kicking out your puny, troubled teen to fend for himself in the big city among all the vultures? Horrible. But I guess it took a lot of soul searching for Pablo to confess to Manuela just how terrible he was with Damian. I am trying to root for Pablo so I predict that one day he will help other parents deal better with their gay kid.

When Carmina claimed Damian dressed Pablito in girl clothes, I thought of the scene in "ET" where little Drew Barrymore dressed the poor alien in heels and a dress and made him hide in the closet so her brother wouldn't catch her playing with his friend. :> Anyhoo, Damian and Pablito said Carmina was lying and my money's on them.

Nice of Franco's old coworker to level with him. I hope his next move is a lawyer.

"MINAS" EPISODE#85:

Weirdo: Liked the title of your recap of last night's episode. I almost gagged when they showed Psycho Roberta & Smarmy Fidel's bed scene.

Smarmy Fidel creeps folks out in those Mutual Ohama commercials LOL.

Gut feeling Tigre figured out Victoria is Emilia.

Diana: Ezequel will get his Karma in the end.

PS: Doubling-down on the Three Amigos' Revenge Plan blowing up in their faces. I think we've got like 22 episodes left correct ?

Weirdo, thank you for every detail as the writers play with us .

So, Addled hired a gigolo for Gigi , but she didn't fall for it. Good for Gigi .

I suppose we are supposed to feel sorry for Sara...I dont .
Did it seem as though Em was going to actually take Sebas to her bed ? The writers are tormenting us .

And Addled wants Flor get Miriam info the drug business.

Around and around we go and where we stop nobody knows . Susan

VENCER LA CULPA #40/#41 Page 1

These two episodes were the most depressing I have seen in this novela so far. Edgardo and Leandro were despicable and Amanda and Manuela were stupid.

MANUELA AND LEANDRO

What a mess because Manuela insists on still being there for the brat who is still a brat and will not give up on the idea of getting her parents back together. She is too young to realize that he papi is using her. Leandro basically tells Manuela that he is calling the shots and if she wants to have a relationship with her daughter she'll play along. He insults her and odd family. She slaps him a few times. He just laughs and eggs her on. Manuela knows she should be able to handle this situation better but she can't . She wants to find something on Leandro that will assure her of having custody of the brat. She wants to move back to her mothers' house. Vicky tells her to not count on that with Leandro's money and the fact that the brat loves him.

Leandro and Pablo have a run in after Leandro barges in and shows up with a huge bouquet for Manuela interrupting Pablo's session with her at the center. Leandro dismisses Pablo who only backs down because of Manuela. Pablo waits for him outside. In the meantime, Leandro tells Manuela she has it made. She can have whatever she wants but with him it is all or nothing. She needs to think about that if she wants to to keep her daughter.

Leandro tells Pablo that he will do what he wants. Pavblos reminds hi that Manuela is not his wife. Leandro says she'll be soon enough. They share a daughter.

Manuela is having a hard time due to all of the stress with Leandro and Yaneli. It has brought back her memories of being sexually assaulted when she was a teenager. One night she is having a nightmare and Leandro, dressed only in his briefs, takes advantage of the situaion to try to crawl into bed with her. She wakes up and is horrified. He leaves. She (finally) locks the door.

Leandro keeps poisoning the brat against her mother. When Manuela is going to take the brat over to her mother's on a Sunday, Leandro is suddenly home giving he brat the option of staying with him rather going to her grandmothers where all the weird people are. Manuela tells the brat that the real issue is that her father is upset that she will not have anything to do with him. The brat asks if it is because she is involved with another man.

PALOMA AND HER PARENTS

Paloma meets with her parents who think that it is all going to go back to normal. No, she is asking that they go to therapy and she will not be seeing them at all for a while. They are shocked. Paloma still feels guilty. Walter proves to be a good friend. They kiss. She isn't sure if she felt anything. She tells Tollita that she thinks she felt a little something. Paloma is torn between Walter and Franco. Paloma goes looking for Franco. She finds out that he will most likely be moving back in with his parents because he cannot find a job and cannot pay his rent. Earlier, Franco has a conversation on the phone with his mother. She says that they were afraid that Franco was going to tell them that he was gay. He says no. What he has isn't a result of being gay.

VENCER Page 2

AMANDA

Unfortunately, Amanda makes one more bad decision and admits to Everardo the bast*rdo (it rhymes!) that Leandro isn't his son. She became reacquainted with an old novio (the vet) while they were married and they had sex because she was sick of Everardo's cruelty and cheating on her. That was a bad decision on her part because Everardo threatens to tell her kids everything if she does not follow his orders from now on. She gives in one more time. In the middle of this all, Everardo has a heart attack but ends up surviving. Amanda ends up back at the house waiting on him hand and foot and taking care of her grandchildren. to boot. She is everybody's doormat one more time. Enrique doesn't understand what is going on and sees her being slurped back up into the life she supposedly left. He is not a happy camper with her and her decisions. She wants them to put their relationship on hold for now. Enrique's daughter is happy about Amanda not being around. It seems that she harbors resentment towards her father because when her mother was dying, he wasn't around as much as she thought he should have been.

YANELI

Yaneli is notified by Vicky that her complaint against Edgardo is ready to file with the prosecutor. Enrqiue's daughter tries to stick her with babysitting her kids but Yaneli is smart enough to say that she can't because she has to run the pet shop. Axel pays her a visit to find out what really happened between her and his uncle. His uncle's ogling of and commenting on young women on the street has left him wondering what the truth was.. Edgardo shows up one afternoon and tries to accost Yaneli. Axel appears and sees him. He pulls Edgardo off of Yaneli and asks him what is going on.

That is it for me tonight.

VENCER

Please excuse the typos!

What will it take for Manuela and Amanda to regain their common sense?

Too bad Evergardo the bast*rdo didn’t die.

Can’t Leandro go MIA by some crooked business associate?

At least Paloma didn’t cave into her parents but will it last?

VENCER

Jarifa, tonight was somber and sobering indeed. Your recap did masterful justice in outlining the baldfaced lies and intolerable cruelties.

And yet, in the darkest details there arose a beacon of light: “Everardo the bast*rdo (it rhymes!)” Thank you amiga; that was so desperately needed.

I keep wondering what makes Leandro tick. Is it needing to have complete control, absolute power? Is it that he refuses anything but total capitulation and dominance? He is cunningly evil and relentless, impervious to all the hurt and hopelessness he is causing. Rejection fuels, not quells his fire. Leandro would be a challenging and arduous subject for any psychiatric professional.

Everardo is equally disgusting but I’m not going to waste too much angst on him as it appears he is going to be hell’s problem shortly.

You are exactly right in that Amanda “makes one more bad mistake.” While it seems she will finally be free of her loathsome ex, his discovery Leandro is not his will likely remain to torment her.

It was terrible watching Leandro intimidate Manuela physically and psychologically. How on earth is she going to extricate herself? The dawning that she has already lost Julieta will shred her soul.

Julieta is so obnoxious. I think she actually asked Susana’s daughter if she was sure she was her mother hinting broadly that her mother was quite pretty and she was not.

I have to admit, I like Walter. I don’t dislike Franco but he’s kind of quirky. He can’t possibly be serious about moving back home, can he??

Thankfully Axel arrived in the nick of time to save Yaneli from Edgar. Hopefully he will put two and two together.

Gracias, Jarifa.

Bastardo feeds off of torturing Amanda. She should move out of town. He will never stop making her life a living hell because that is what he lives for. Neither of her children are coming to her aid, either. Has anyone determined whether he cleaned out her bank account?

There should be security cameras catching Edgardo's vile acts. I now have to wonder if he is involved in Dulce's disappearance. It definitely would be in a trafficking syndicate's interest to recruit a high school teacher for this sort of disgusting crime.

I don't want to see either Franco or Paloma live with their parents and I want to see both sets of them paying for their nasty treatment of their adult offspring.

Minas

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Diana, thank you for your kind words! "Roberta was right in one aspect. I do believe Mau would definitely prefer Nico with her and not Leo". I agree too, Mau hated Leo.

ITA about Addled. I'm not sure his threats are empty either.

"I had to smile at Ezequiel shoveling away. Enjoy your labors in the grave and the sure to be ensuing nightmares." HA! That gave me a giggle.

Urban, I agree that Roberta will be the last one to get her punishment. I'm not sure if it'll be death. They keep talking on and on about how Roberta is losing her mind, so I have a suspicion the writers are going to make Roberta go crazy at the end. Wouldn't it be poetic justice if she gets locked up in an insane asylum?

Oh Waterlily I could copy-paste the first paragraph of your comment. The only thing I can say is ITA.

I laughed at "So he can put innocent people in jail but can't open a coffin. Interesting."

Thanks SO much for explaining what Emilia said in the last scene. Recapping is hard without subtitles, lol! I heard "caminaba" instead of "admiraba" and it confused me.

Steve, I laughed at your comments on Fidel, especially the "creeps people out". He'll pop up on your screens when you least expect him to! Yes, 22 episodes to go minus Friday's. Now we have 21 to go.

Susan, Addled hiring the gigolo was just a theory of mine. I agree that it's good she didn't proceed with it though, she wants something else than this.

"The writers are tormenting us" indeed! I just don't understand why write all these cute Emilia-Sebas scenes when she'll end up with Leo. It's actually a bit annoying at this point, because we know it won't last.

I woke up having muscular pain (great!) I'll watch and write the recap later today.

Weirdo, please take care of yourself!

You come first, always.

If I could post some highlights instead, I would. But, to be honest, I fell asleep shortly after this started so I saw/remember very little.

Thanks Diana.
I promised I'll do the recap and I'll do it, but thanks for offering to do highlights.
To be honest, I felt a bit guilty for not getting the recap up on time, but you guys made me feel better. You're the best!
I'm feeling a bit better. It's already 20:25 here and I'm sleepy. Have a great day/night everyone!

OT...Weirdo , some of these bugs just seem to hang onto you once they get you . Take care of yourself . I wasn't able to watch , but I am suspecting that our story is still going around and around . Rob's lines. Sara's lines. Leo's lines ! Susan

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 86 - Highlights

Some scenes aren't in order.

Unfortunately, Tigre doesn't really recognise Emilia, he just says Victoria reminded him of her.

Cayetana video calls Gael, Marijó tells him to answer because they'll learn where Joaquina is. He does and Cayetana says she can't tell him (Mar doesn't appear on the phone) but then accidentally spills that they're in Veracruz when Gael says he wants to see her. Roberta comes behind them and Gael quickly ends the call. She asks him with whom he talked to and Mar replies that Gael doesn't have to tell her anything. After Roberta sends Gael away, she tells Mar she heard him say "Cayetana". Mar replies that he didn't, but Rob just laughs and says she's as innocent and naïve as she was when she first met her.

Leo isn't willing to help Sara pretend they're a perfect family (I don't blame him). He tells her not to continue with the elections and she replies she can't and he doesn't get it. She rips the signed divorce papers and leaves.

Nico tells Leo Victoria and his mother have a lot in common. Leo doesn't look like he has recognised Emilia (remember talking to Emilia as if she were dead a few episodes ago?) and I'm wondering why did the writers make Leo mumble to himself "why doesn't she [Victoria] tell me she's her [Emilia]?".

Sara tells her dad something about wanting to be like La Patrona. He laughs and says "you're born a Patrona, you're not made one". She says she wants to change the "perfect family" cliché and show people she's empowered. Addled says no, she shouldn't change the old ways; if they wanted empowerment, they have her mom. Sara's plans don't turn out well.

Gael, Victoria and Tigre figure out someone's stealing from the mines. The dialogue confused me a bit, but I believe Victoria gave them some stats from the gold they extract and they realise gold isn't the mineral stolen, I think. Vic tells Gael to check something (report?) discreetly.

At some point, Leo arrives with Nico and Victoria teaches Nico some stuff about handling mines. She mentions these are his mines and he says he doesn't want to be a Patrón because you have to be bad (yes, Roberta told him that, unusual - not). Vic tells him you can be a good Patrón and Nico says he loves her (the quiero form of course, since he doesn't know Vic is Emi) but he feels guilty because he also loves Sara and feels like he's betraying her. Vic says his heart has room for many people.

Sara and Jenny are on the phone talking. Jenny STILL hasn't told Orlando anything. Sara talks about her situation while holding a bottle of pills. Uh oh.

Fidel informs Roberta about Joaquina being in Veracruz.

Nico is with Victoria when Leonardo comes, panicked, telling Nico to come with him and inform Tigre about it. When Victoria asks him what happened, he tells her Sara consumed a lot of pills. There was a scene with some house employee telling Leo about Sara and saying she looks dead. Vic tells him to calm down and that Nico can stay with her. Leo thanks her and he tells Nico, who just returned and hasn't listen to their conversation, to stay here. Vic hugs him and tells him everything is okay.

Roberta has some police officers arrest Joaquina because she "stole" something of Roberta's. Cayetana's mom actually believes she stole the jewellery, but Cayetana doesn't.

Minas de Pasión - Capítulo 86 - Highlights Part 2

Marijó learns about the arrest and confronts Roberta. She (lies) that she heard them talking with Gael, so it's "Mar's fault" for Joaquina getting arrested. She adds she would release her with the benefit of the doubt but now she wants Mar to work in the general direction of the company to do that. Mar is beaten and accepts.

Victoria is talking to Velos. She says she wants him to work closely with her and mentions thinking someone's stealing. Velos is clearly uncomfortable but Sebas arrives and he leaves. Emi tells Sebas that she wants to have her friends close and her enemies closer.

Joaquina is put in jail.

The doctors are trying to save Sara.

Mar tells Gael about Joaquina and he says that if there's a witness, Joaquí will be cleared of all charges. They call Cayetana, who wants something in return (didn't catch what) and Mar urges him to accept. He does.

Nico spends time with Zaira, Tigre, Victoria and Sebas. When Nico leaves, Tigre notices some earrings of Victoria's that are the same Emilia used to wear. Vic finds some excuse. There's another close call with Zaira almost blowing Emi's cover. When Zaira and Emilia are left alone, Zaira tells her Tigre wants a divorce.

Leo is with Sara looking at his phone, when he sees her body having spasms. Geez, I'm impressed by Sylvia's (Sara) acting. The doctors rush in.

The disturbing: Roberta proposes to Fidel to get married. When he asks her why, she says he needs a primera dama and something else I didn't catch. Fidel thanks her for her sincerity but refuses. He mentions Victoria and then gets a bit too aggressive with Roberta. He grabs her and kisses her, when she clearly told him no... Rob bites his tongue for him to stop. He does, because it's bleeding. He leaves as Roberta screams that they'll all regret it.

And with that disturbing scene, we have the Fin del Capítulo.

MINAS

Weirdo, thank you for another simply outstanding recap! I hung on every well written word, your detailing was excellent.

"why doesn't she [Victoria] tell me she's her [Emilia]?" is baffling. As you noted perfectly, there was no doubt as what Leo said and what we heard. So, so many clues ignored, the most obvious being that there is no discernable physical difference between Emilia and Victoria. Emi has misspoken several times uttering words that only Emilia would know yet no one picks up on them! And now, physical evidence, the earrings make no impression! Unbelieveable.

Roberta seems to be omnipresent; she is everywhere popping up at the worst possible times for team Emilia. Joaquina barely got her coat off and is rounded up. This looks very bad.

I fell asleep and missed most of this but I'm doubting Sara's suicide attempt was real; call me cynical.

Roberta only wants Fidel to marry her so she can keep him on an even tighter leash now that she knows he is interested in Victoria. Jealousy, pure and simple.

I'll have to try and watch this tomorrow providing Comcast posts it.

My choice for BEST LINE for #40/#41!!!!:

Enrique tells Amanda, as she is making all of her nonsensical excuses for having to take care of Everardo,: "Tú ex ya va por salida." "Your ex is on his way out." Can it happen sooner and not later??? Please!!!

Diana, thanks and I am glad you enjoyed my rhyme. I could be rhymin' all the timin.' Yes, you understood Julieta's comment perfectly. How I would like to see her get bullied mercilessly! I cannot even begin to comment on Manuela or Amanda any more, so I won't. Walter is turning into a nicer guy than I ever thought he was. I like both him and Franco.

Urban, no, it has never been determined if Everardo was responsible for Amanda's bank account fiasco. "There should be security cameras catching Edgardo's vile acts. I now have to wonder if he is involved in Dulce's disappearance. It definitely would be in a trafficking syndicate's interest to recruit a high school teacher for this sort of disgusting crime." Excellent possibility! I had never thought of that. Trafficking is a popular topic these days.

Jarifa, thank you for that superb account of all the drama . This show seems to be one long PSA about toxic men and conflicts between generations ...parasitic parents, disrespectful Children , co trolling exes. Yikes . It makes one thankful that none of these characters or their types are in your own orbit . Let's hope that these women can extricate themselves from these awful men ! It is all about people who want power and control over others for their own egotistical desires . ugh. It is exhausting To watch .It makes me grateful for the people in my life .

Weirdo, thank you for going above and beyond the call of duty and bringing us a great recap.

Minas
Weirdo, thanks so much for the recap, especially considering you aren't feeling well. I hope you feel better soon. I have a caugh and was like 'where did this come from?' And you have my sympathy about recaping without subtitles. It drives me up the wall sometimes because I keep rewinding and am like 'what? What did she say?'
I can'tremember it now though I had it all figured out on Saturday and was so happy, but I think Emilia realised there's not enough mineral left. They mention a specific amount of the mineral gets them 1g of gold. Gael asks why they aren't extracting other metals from it. Emilia says you need permition for it and they only have permition for gold. So I think they realise someone is stealing part of that mineral in order to extract other metals. I'm now wishing I knew something about mining. I do hope I got the details correct. They don't matter at all, but I thought I'd share.
Cayetana actually wanted Gael to admit they like each other and then asked him to go out with her in exchange for hlping Joaquina. So that Joaquina got her a job doesn't matter. Nice. Why is everyone in this story, even including the supposedly good guys, so bloody selfish? It's like Sebas is the only person who genuinely cares about others.
Marijo sounded annoying submissive in this episode. She is young, but we already had this angle of her youth being an obstacle at the beginning so I'm a bit sick of it. She genuinely thinks Roberta will let Joaquina free. I suppose she feels guilty, but she basically agreed to do whatever Roberta asks her to. Doesn't it occur to her she herself could end up in jail if Roberta gets her involved in some shady business? No self-preservation instinct, none at all.
I think Sara told Jen there are ways of convincing people when Jen asked her if she's going to force Leo to stay with her. So did she overdose accidentally? Or is this a planthat went exactly as it should and she will be fine? Jen did tell her she should accept Danilo's offer. I didn't think Sara was desperate enough to commit suicide.
Roberta thinks 'everyone' betrayed her. And yet when Leo recently asked her what has Joaquina done to her, adding she is the most loyal person you could find, Roberta completely ignored this and started talking about how he should throw in her face all the things she has done to fix other people's lives. Ignoring the facts like this is a skill I'd say. She is insane even when she is supposed to be sane.

MINAS

I'm so sorry that you Weirdo, Waterlily and Susan are not feeling well.

Still battling to break freezing. I respect snow but am terrified of ice. ☹

Jarifa, I liked the way you lined up the two sad episodes. Manuela and Amanda are both over a barrel.

The brat saw Leandro in his undies heading for Manuela's room, but I couldn't tell if she overheard Manuela's rejection. The brat did look concerned rather than pleased.

It seemed like Amanda was going to confess to Leandro before the doctor called them in.

Diana, Walter has grown on me too. I like that he's not pushy.

OT

I hope everyone in the snow's path stay warm and cozy and that there's no power outages.

OT

Niecie, thank you for your good wishes for us all. Aside from the ice, my other fear is power outages which are occurring way too frequently here. We are due for more bad weather starting tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Diana

OT

Stay warm out there! We're quite the polar opposite, still around 20 degrees Celsius (68 Fahrenheit) but it got slightly colder as it rained today.

Minas

Diana, I share your frustration regarding Leo. I just want to scream at him "Abre tus ojos, idiota!" (Open your eyes, idiot!) every time he doesn't recognise Em.

I loved "Jealousy, pure and simple" regarding Roberta. I can't stand her. Although I did feel uneven watching her get kissed by force in the last scene. Biting Fidel's tongue was the only time I've said "go girl go" at her... But I have a feeling it won't last. Meh.

Waterlily, thanks SO much for adding all this important information!

"Why is everyone in this story, even including the supposedly good guys, so bloody selfish? It's like Sebas is the only person who genuinely cares about others" was perfect.

I loved your comment on Roberta "she is insane even when she's supposed to be sane".

Thanks for your comment, Susan!

No muscle pains today. I hope everyone who is sick feels better now.
