VENCER LA CULPA #72 Page 1

Things are getting set up for the gran final in one week. Only five episodes to go after this one. So many plots and so little time!!!

MANUELA

Manuela continues to tell "he of the dead fish eyes" AKA Pablo about how her mother was sentenced to thirty years for the murder of Rosendo. Manuela felt guilty for her mother being stuck in jail for some thing she didn't do. Her mother blamed herself because she didn't notice that Rosendo had been sexually abusing Manuela. She tells Manuela that her godmother Angeles would be taking her far away from Matamoros because it could be dangerous since Rosendo had family still there. That was the last time that Manuela saw or talked to her mother. After being in jail for a little less than a month, Heliberto infiltrated the jail posing as a custodian and killed her mother in cold blood. She remembers the police coming to her home to notify her of her mother's death and taking her to claim her body. Manuela's guilt over her mother's death has been unrelenting. Angeles arrived shortly after to get moved out so Heliberto could not get to her. Manuela ended up with her in Mexico City. Angeles still took precautions. From then on, Manuela referred to Angeles as her mother and her name changed from Violeta to Manuela. Heliberto ended up in jail for killing her mother but now she knows that he won't stop until she herself pays for killing his father. She wonders if she should just turn her self in to the police. Pablo is silent and expressionless . Manuela is disconcerted by his lack of reaction. Pablo turns it into being ALL ABOUT HIM. He asks why she told Leandro all about her past first and not him. She tries to explain that she had to save her mother. Also, she never wanted to end up in jail because that would mean that she would be losing Julieta.He finally tells her that he is trying not to judge her but he needs time to process it all. They will talk again. He leaves.

In the meantime, Leandro is congratulating Heriberto and his mother on the good job that they did with the kidnapping. He tells them about how he will be paying them. He wants them to keep the pressure on Manuela until she cracks. That is how he is planning on getting custody of his daughter. Fidelia tells her son to consider Julieta the ace they have up their sleeve.

Manuela tells Angeles about Pablo's reaction to her telling him everything.. She understands he has problems with some deep seated prejudices but he said nothing. She knows he will need time to think about things. She isn't happy though that he seemed to complain and criticize her that she had told Leandro all about her past before she told him.

Leandro comes to see Manuela. He has the perfect solution for keeping her and Julieta safe. The three of them should go on an extended trip. He thinks that he has proven that he is a good man. The light bulb goes on in Manuela's head as she realizes how he is using this threat to his advantage to get her where he wants her. She informs him that she knows it was he who got her fired at the university, directed Julieta to destroy the lab at the school and planted the alcohol at Julieta's quince party. He admits that he did it all. He wonders what the authorities would think if he told them the truth about her. She would end up in jail.

AMANDA

Amanda is having a hard time dealing with the contradictory information she has received on how Dulce found out about the job in her shop, how Nora Pardo fits into it all and if what Nico has said is true. She goes with Yaneli to see the prosecutor. Yaneli tells her that Genaro is now working for Leandro. At the prosecutor's office, the questions only multiply. It turns out that Nora is supposedly dead but there is no death certificate. She is key in Nico' prosecution. Nora Pardo supposedly claimed Brayan's body. The problem is that Dulce said she was dead before Brayan died. The prosecutor has a sketch that was done after the morgue workers described what the woman who claimed the body looked like. The woman could have been using a false ID. Amanda looks at the drawing and the woman is a dead ringer for the woman she saw at Leandro's office who Irineo was chewing out for having come into the office. Amanda is shocked. On the way back, Yaneli notices that Amanda doesn't look too well.


PABLITO

Carmina is out playing kissy face with Leandro and hoping to hear the latest gossip when she gets a phone call from Nancy who is watching Pablito. She turns off her phone so as not to be disturbed. Pablo gets a call at home from Nancy who tells him that Pablito has gotten very ill. Pablo goes with Dulce to get him and they take him to the hospital. When an inebriated Carmina comes home, Nancy tells her what happened. When she arrives at the hospital, the doctor, who is taking care of Pablito, tells her and Pablo that Pablito had a medical crisis but he has been stabilized. They want to keep him under observation over night. Carmina is worried that Gutiérrez isn't there taking care of Pabllito. Gutiérrez finally shows up and Pablo blames him for what happened to his son. He threatens to sue him and leaves the scene. Carmina reminds Gutiérrez that he needs to keep their secret. He isn't too sure about that anymore since the threat of ending up in court is changing his mind. The new doctor tells Carmina and Pablo that Dr. Gutierrez had prescribed the correct medication for Pablito. They need to run more tests. A while later, the doctor returns and tells Carmina and Pablo that in spite of Dr. Gutiéerrez's correct treatment of Pablo's condition, both of his kidneys are damaged. He needs an emergency kidney tranplant to survive.


PALOMA /FRANCO

Joel and Paloma talk. He asks why Paloma got involved in the first place since the situation didn't have anything to do with her. She says it was because he deserved to know what was going on. He informs her he kicked Cecilia out. He is finished with her. She tells him that she and Franco broke up.
 

VENCER Part 3

Paloma has decided to leave town and start over. Her parents are willing to give her their savings to help her out. She refuses the money. She is happy they have conquered their gambling habit and wants them to use it to open up their own tamal shop as planned. Tollita tries to get her to be more logical about what she is planning on doing but Tolita will not hear it. She goes as far as quitting her job and finding out how to sell her apartment.

Pablos's lawyer Carlos calls Paloma trying to get in contact with Franco.

Franco has taken to sleeping on park benches and finally makes his way back to Paloma's place. He falls unconscious in the hallway just as Paloma's parents are leaving her apartment. They get him to the hospital where he is diagnosed with low blood pressure and dehydration. They are incredibly kind to him. Franco notices this is the first time they haven't called him a "sidoso" an AIDS sufferer. They insist on keeping him company until it is time for him to be discharged.


EVERYTHING ELSE

Pablo buys Dulce a new cellphone. He tries to get her to talk about Nora again but she still is not talking.

Genaro is still trying to give Yaneli the third degree about Axel and her. She is not talking.

Genaro starts working for Leandro as a messenger.

That is it for me.

Jarifa, this was enthralling; I was hanging on your every word.

“Manuela continues to tell "he of the dead fish eyes" AKA Pablo about how her mother was sentenced to thirty years for the murder of Rosendo”. OMG Jarifa, you phrased that perfectly!! When Manuela was relating her heartbreaking story, tears streaming down her face, Pablo listened gravely. But with his head, not his heart. Throughout, he made no move to comfort her; he never touched her or made any gesture to let her know he cared. After, he stood by the window, putting space between them as a physical barrier. There was no kind word, no embrace. As you noted, all he could think of was that HE had to process what Manuela lived through. Although he treated Julieta warmly, he left coldly as if Manuela were a stranger.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, we have grimly transparent Leandro who “…admits that he did it all. He wonders what the authorities would think if he told them the truth about her. She would end up in jail”. Manuela certainly has his number although no one yet realizes the depth of his cruelty although poor Amanda is slowly becoming enlightened.

“Carmina is out playing kissy face with Leandro.” If I understood correctly, it seemed as though Leandro noted that Nancy might be calling her about Pablito but she obviously didn’t care, turning the phone off. Even Leandro seemed to look at her as though she had two heads. Because of her, her lovely son’s life is in grave danger. At least Nancy did call (rather cold, callous) Pablo.

I was glad to see Paloma’s parents treated Franco with kindness. I hadn’t understood Paloma was planning on leaving which is but one of the long list of reasons your recaps are invaluable and so appreciated!

Interesting to note that Univision will soon air both Receta and Vivir and not Golpe De Suerte and El Maleficio which got the primetime slots in Mexico. Looks like they won't be coming to US soon like Pienso En Ti. Mujer has a lot of episodes so probably will be the in the schedule for awhile unless they plan on airing MAREAS DE PASSIONES which is airing in Mexico in March
 

OT

There is no fixed schedule for US airings of telenovelas relative to Mexico's. Sometimes we don't get them until after the broadcast run in Mexico ends. Soltero Con Hijas is a recent example of that.

The Wikipedia page for Mujer indicates that there were 81 2-hour episodes which means we can't even guess the finale date right now.

Just to let everyone know, the late Helena Rojo is in El Maleficio, which began shooting in 2022.

I am picturing Leandro shanghaiing Manuela to Asia and leaving her there without cash or her passport while bringing Julieta either back to Mexico or to somewhere else. It would not even surprise me if he were to attempt to sell Julieta into white slavery because he seems to show no care at all for his two sons. The writers really put ice water in his veins.

Manuela needs a seriously good lawyer on a mission. In the flashbacks she looks not only like a minor but below the age of consent. If I heard correctly that Rosendo was cremated there is nothing for any forensics team to look for. This would be a case of "he said; she said" and there is no predicting how that will go unless anyone can prove that Leandro is behind this whole thing.

Leandro, Carmina, Heriberto, and Fidelia need to pay for their sins. Big time. Carmina is about to be exposed and I hope that the doctor she bought off loses his license and goes to prison.

I'm still not quite believing the reformation of Paloma's parents but I'm sure we won't see Franco's parents anymore. Their narrow minds are a main PSA warning.

I was also losing my appetite a couple of episodes ago when Rolando tried to get Paula into bed. I seriously hope she doesn't marry him. He also has no creds as a parent. His recent behavior going off the deep end over Paula and Pepe shows that he is unhinged.

However it could be a long while before she realizes he is involved with Natalia.

Pepe's willingness to get back with Malena for the sake of a baby not his can only lead to misery. Why does he not see that?

Thanks so much Jarifa, your recaps cover everything. I get a review of what I saw and info on what I missed! I had no idea Paloma quit her job!

I loved “he of the dead fish eyes”. What a good description I can’t believe how indifferent he was as Manuela told him her story. No wonder her mother went to jail for her. I think in America Manuela could have told what happened and not been charged. I think Heriberto is going to go after Julieta.

It does seem like Amanda is going to be the one to figure out Leandro’s crimes. I did think Leandro seemed surprised that Carmina didn’t answer the phone. How awful that he needs a transplant just because of her. I hope the bad doctor confesses all. She seemed more upset that another doctor was treating Pablito than that her son was so bad off. I hope Nancy tells Pablo the truth.

I loved Paloma’s parents taking care of Franco. At first I thought they’d just leave him in the hall. They probably don’t want Paloma to move, maybe they’ll play matchmakers!

Only five more episodes and we really don’t know what Leandro is up to! I’m not ready for this show to end!

VIDA Ep. 21 Part 1

Gracia asks Isabela why Alex didn’t come to the party. Isabel shares that Alex doesn’t want to see or talk to her; he is jealous of Lor. Gracia thinks Alex has reason to be jealous but Isabel argues that she is fighting her feelings for Lor with all her might ( but she still has them...DUH!) Gracia offers to go talk to Alex.

Rafa doesn’t think Nat will set eyes on a man like him. Lor encourages him to not think so little of himself. When Rafa asks why Lor is so supportive of him, Lor stutters that Rafa reminds him of hímself. Rafa wonders if it has something to do with his mother…and asks what there was between Lor and his mother.

Alex doesn’t think Gracia should worry about him. She asks how he is; so Alex shares that he feels embarrassed to have spent the night in a cell; then he left feeling so bad that he didn’t want to be a Debbie downer and ruin the party. When Gracia suggests that he fight for Isabel, Alex doesn’t think Isabela wants him to keep her away from Lor. He asks that Gracia not tell Isabela how he feels…he feels that he is losing Isabela. Gracia encourages him to fight for Isabela.

Rafa guesses that Lor had a relationship with Isabela, then his father appeared and took her from Lor. After Lot points out that Isabela chose his father, Rafa asks if his mother and Lor had their relationship after his mother married, but Loe asks that he not ask more questions. Rafa assures he won’t take sides because he knows what it feels like to have the woman you love choose someone else.

Sourpuss Diego and Rol return. MEHHH

Pepe wishes they could stay there. He notices that they left the food truck lights on and the battery died. They try to call for help but don’t find a signal.

Rol worries and wants to go look for Paula. Suzy comments that her mother is probably with Pepe, but Lor convinces Rol not go look for Paula.

Alex complains that Rafa is working with Lor. Rafa mentions that he knows Lor wants to return their land to them so Lor can’t be so bad. Everyone keeps quiet but he (Rafa) has his suspicions of what is happening.

Paula insists that she needs to return home because her children will worry. And she needs to go read Suzy her story. Paula finally gets a signal and answers Lor’s call. He assures that he will read Suzy her story, Paula shares that she is with Pepe and is having a great time. When Pepe asks if she asked for someone to come help them, Paula laughs that she didn’t…so they will have to stay there.

Isabela tried to be frisky but Alex is tired..:and he just doesn’t want to!

Lor tells Rol that Paula is fine and is at a place where she wants to be alone. Lor then adds that he isn’t sure he agrees that Paula marry Rol since she is not in love with him. He asks that Rol not pressure Paula (like talking to a wall...)

Pepe notices that Paula is'nt feeling well…and it happens often. Paula assures that she is fine. Pepe admires how beautiful Paula is and thanks her for convincing him to go there. He wonders what will happen tomorrow. All Paula knows is that what is happening between them is very strong and she wants to live it. As Pepe sleeps, Paula reads one of her wishes—to swim nude in the sea but crosses out “sea” and writes “river”.
 

VIDA Ep. 21 Part 2

Reni gives Rol the location of the place where the family went to (since Lor mentioned to Rol that it was the place Paula went to).

Nat isn’t happy that Lor and Rafa showed up at her meeting.

Reni is not happy that Lucia is messaging Emi (nothing new)

Lor and Rafa enter the company's meeting room qhwew Nat is large and in charge. Lor introduces Rafa as his personal assistant…and asks that Nat restart her presentation from the beginning.

Emi asks why Reni is checking his phone..that was in his backpack. She assures she won’t get his things any more…but Emi leaves without her anyway (teeheehee).

Alex packs his things because he needs a few days to think. If he stays there he will only be angry and long-faced…nothing will come of it. Isabela pleads that he not leave…she doesn’t want this to be the end of their story.

Rol shows up at the love nest asking if Paula slept with "este tipo" (this guy). When Pepe tries to intervene, Paula asks that he let her talk to Rol. Rol asks if she has something going on with this guy. Paula explains that the battery died, but Rol asks that she stop making excuses.

Rafa is impressed with how big the company is. Lor explains that he only put up the money for the company; Paula is the one who made it what it is. Lor then explains that he needs to be close to Paula right now but in about a year he will need to take over the company and he will need someone to help him…and he wants Rafa to be that person.

Paula wants to talk to Rol but Rol refuses because he doesn’t want to say something he will regret.

Rafa tells Nat that he is a single father. Lor tells Nat that after hearing her presentation, he decided that he should start being involved in the company as of today…to keep an eye on her. He then asks that Nat find a maid for Paula.

Rol is not happy that Paula chose to stay with Pepe instead of riding with him. Pepe then reflects that he forgot that Paula has someone who loves her and whose heart is broken because he saw her with another man. Paula cries that there are many things she has not told him, but Pepe doesn’t think that she should explain anything to him.

Alex shows up at Mal’s and Lucia is surprised that he will be staying there.

Pepe suggests that they need to get back to reality—he has just separated and she is going to get married soon. Paula asks what they will do about the love they feel for each other… Longing looks ensue and they say their “I love yous”!!

I am looking out as snow piles up. Gabe Soto is doing a great job of painting a hidden demon moving freely among people who are oblivious to his true nature.

Ingrid Marz is a tiny, pretty Barbie with a cold, cold heart . Even her sister is repulsed by her treatment of her son.

I wonder if Carmina will try to reject Dulce if she is a match and offers to donate a kidney to her brother.

So, Amanda sees the drawing of Nora and recognizes her as the woman she saw in Leondro's office . What is up ?

I feel bad for Fausto as he continues to bend under his black cloud. That constant expression of despair on his face is getting to me. UFC

Lorenzo’s planned future involvement with the company makes me wonder: does he not trust Natalia? Or is it so he can mentor Rafa? I keep getting mixed signals about that.

I now realise I may never like Paula and Pepe because of how this whole thing started. It appears Paula thinks that since she isn't marrying for love, the fact she was with someone else doesn't matter. The telenovela of course has the convenient excuse of Rolando being a horrible person, but if he weren't? The phrase 'and what about us?' is starting to drive me up the wall.I wonder what Paula would have told Rolando.
Why is Isabela so upset? Can't she make up her mind so we'd end all this crying and 'what am I going to do?' tale?Or does she think Alex is so stupid as to not see what is going on? Why does Alex expect Rafa to pay any attention to his demands? Rafa is also very open about feeling that they don't trust him so Alex and Isabela must have made a mistake in how they treated their kids, even if they didn't mean to.
I wonder if Natalia won't try to kill off Lorenzo. She was clearly pissed off he just told her to start over. She didn't hide her feelings when Rafa told her he was a single father either. It felt so humiliating even having to watch that scene.
I bet Nat's mum will be Paula's maid.
Renata will go after Lucia again. I don't get why Lucia wants to put her head into a lion's mouth. Emiliano isn't so wonderful as to be worth all that suffering.

Rgv Chick, you captured the feel and tone of last night’s episode perfectly. “Paula asks what they will do about the love they feel for each other… Longing looks ensue and they say their “I love yous”!!” was a memorable highlight.

I am so grateful that this is bringing back such an important element lacking in so many recent novellas, romance. The scene where Paula and Pepe were sitting on the food truck floor seemed so lovely. She was inhaling the scent of him, eyes closed in rapture, her heart now obviously no longer hers.

I felt a bit for Alex last night. He had a touching scene with Gracia and I thought this might become a possible pairing. That said, I admit I don’t know if Gracia is related to anyone or is just Isa’s bff? His eyes lit up at the cake Gracia brought in but I think it got put to the side, much to his disappointment.

I like Rafa more each episode. “Rafa assures he won’t take sides because he knows what it feels like to have the woman you love choose someone else”. Ouch. I hope he doesn’t fall for Paula, yet another evil harpy…Doris, I think Lor may be starting to have a few doubts about Paula and also does want to show Rafa the ropes.

The main mystery to me was whether Alex knows Rafa is Lor’s. Now, it’s whether Paula and Pepe actually slept together. I like that we are being kept guessing.

Is it just me or is Lor’s hair grayer in some scenes more than others?

Rol needs to get a clue and get lost. Permanently.

Waterlily, yes, Renta "will go after Lucia again". Huge sigh. Emil needs to grow a spine and leave her once and for all.

Gracia encourages Alex to fight for Isabel. So he turns his back and goes to sleep. Then the next day he packs and leaves. He might as well call Lorenzo and tell him “she’s all yours”. I did feel Gracia could like him more than she should, but she did encourage him to fight for Isabel. Why on earth would he go to MAL’s? Maybe he’ll figure out what’s really going on with her while he’s there.

I felt like Lorenzo doesn’t quite trust Nat but I think it was me projecting my feelings. I can see him signing the company away because he doesn’t read what he signs. I can’t picture Rafa happy in that setting. At least he seems to have wised up about Paula not loving Rol but definitely happy with Pepe. But Rol finding them has put a bullseye on Pepe. I don’t think Paula will go through with the wedding but I do think Pepe will get back with MAL. Maybe his dad living there will delay that. He and Rafa seem to be the only ones that don’t see the true MAL.

I’m glad Emi stood up to Reni and said something about her going into his backpack and checking his phone.

I think Paula and Pepe “did”…but you all are right, we don’t know for sure.

Doris, Lor said something like “after listening to you at the meeting, I’ve decided to start working in the company today…to keep an eye on you” so I am sure that he already doesn’t trust Nat. I sure hope he remembers signing the documents without reading them and asks to review those.

Waterlily, I’m betting that the maid will be Nat’s mother too. But I’m second guessing myself because they made it seem like Nat’s mom is ill. They didn’t elaborate on what meds she was taking and for what…hmmmm…

Diana, I’m liking Rafa more too, but if he sets his eyes on Nat, he’ll lose some major points. And I too felt sorry for Alex who sees the writing on the wall quite clearly. He’s not one of my favorite characters, but still…

Dear Chickie, thank you for bringing us all the news. I am trying to care about these people. I just cannot accept Pepe and Paula together ....even with his man bun undone and his hair flying around in the meadow?

I find it strange that knowing she has only a limited amount of time left on earth , Paula is spending so much time pursuing Pepe instead of spending as much time as possible time with her children , especially with her very young daughter .

I am now thinking that the writers depicted Rafa as the incredible Hulk because Lor is now going to take him under his fatherly wing and transform him into a savvy business guy .

Poor Rafa has no clue that he dodged a bullet by not being the guy coldhearted, hot tempered , hot blooded MAL chose to marry .

Nat looked really mad when Lor and Rafa strolled into that meeting .( QTH was that black , puffy sleeved thing she was wearing. Wow...way to Telegraph " I am the villain of this thing ." ugly )

I get strange vibes between MAL and Alex , and now he is moving in to that house ???? Hmmmm

This triangle between Alex, Isabel ,and Lor is getting tiresome . Isabel went to The class reunion and is now torn between her husband of many years and her old novio . ...poor thing .

We don't know that much about Rolando's past interactions with Paula's family. #e know she doesn't know that he killed her husband. But since he has no children and she is seeing what a good father Pepe is, she should have second thoughts on that basis. I don't see Rolando wanting any part of day to day parenting which Pepe has embraced.

Renata's parents are probably the sort of rich ones who have very little to do with their children and start by sending them off to boarding school as soon as they could get away with it. She could become another Elizabeth Haysom.

Anyone Nat gets to be Paula's maid will be her informant.

Rafa did look out of place in the meeting and if anyone gets him into a suit he will be very uncomfortable. I also don't get the hat; the man should be thanking his lucky stars -- and his genes -- for his full head of hair.

Speaking of which...

Nat's hairstyle looks very uncomfortable with the two locks falling near her face. Her ears stick out just enough behind them to look elfin. However, that is better than the manbun on Pepe whose ears don't match. He should have a style that covers at least the top halves of them while being suitable for his age.

Lorenzo's hair does not reflect the actor's reality. My high-def laptop screen reveals that the grey and white are temporary because in close-up they don't shine. And yes, the grey was darker in last night's episode.

Gracia's hair color is okay but not the right style for her.

Nat needs a new wardrobe for the office if she is to have any credibility. She was dressed to party in private life, not to give a business presentation.

Diana, glad that you enjoyed the "dead fish eye" comment. : ) Pablo like Franco has turned into a "meh" for me anyway. I am finding the plot more fascinating than any of these far too real characters getting paired up. As for Carmina, "Even Leandro seemed to look at her as though she had two heads.". He sure did. What is weird about Paloma is that she seems to be ready to leave town with no idea of where she is going or how she is gong to support herself. She juts wants out. She is just as goofy as her parents just in a different way.

"Manuela needs a seriously good lawyer on a mission. In the flashbacks she looks not only like a minor but below the age of consent.." Exactly. It always takes forever for "the good guys" to get lawyered up. Could it be because the good guys are usually poor or living pay check to pay check?

Liz, so glad you liked the "dead fish eyes" description, too! "I think Heriberto is going to go after Julieta." me, too. Fidelia told him she was their ace up their sleeve. What better way to get to Manuela? There is none. "Only five more episodes and we really don’t know what Leandro is up to! I’m not ready for this show to end!' I do not know how they will wrap this up satisfactory in only five episodes but we shall see. ; )

Susan, sorry to hear that snow is piling up. Bummer. Stay cozy and warm. "Ingrid Marz is a tiny, pretty Barbie with a cold, cold heart." is a prefect description of Carmina. "I wonder if Carmina will try to reject Dulce if she is a match and offers to donate a kidney to her brother. " I have a feeling, like you, that this is where that plot is heading. Should be interesting.

I’m getting quite disillusioned with how the writers are handling Paulepe’s romance. They excite us for no longer than 2 episodes before separating the couple. I’m really hoping that this won’t be another tn where the protagonists are virtually separated till the last week.

Paula does give me confused elements lately. It’s as if she wants to have her cake and eat it. She needs an executor of her estate to take care of the kids when gone? Done. She needs someone to love her “intensamente” before she leaves? Done. She needs to decide who/what she wants, 2 months gone already anyway. Much as Pepe and Rolo had different motives to say what they said, objectively their arguments were sensible given how indecisive Paula has been.

Lorenzo has been displaying a bout of intelligence & reason lately. First he makes it clear to Rol that he will support Paula on who she decides to do life with, and now he is also keen on monitoring Nat’s actions within the company. However he still has some sharpening to do coz he still went to ask the same chic he distrusted with managing the company for a maid (WTH??). I bet that’ll be her mum, especially considering there’ll be another angle to the story that I accidentally came across online and won’t mention since it’ll be considered a spoiler.

I wonder what next to expect from Alex, Lorenzo and Isabela. Every cat is almost out of the bag. What more can the writers do to intrigue us beyond this and make these characters relevant to the central theme?

One thing that I love about this show is how humanly it depicts the situations within the show. Paula & Pepe’s scene in the food truck was instantly relatable for anyone who’s lived through love. Pepe’s surprise bday also seemed very real and well potrayed imo. Hoping to see more cute scenes. 😊

MANUELA

Manuela accuses Leandro of blackmailing her. Leandro doesn't consider what he is doing as blackmailing Manuela. He only wants to be with her. That is why he is kindly asking that she accept his proposal. He sees it as is offering her an exchange where she is going to come out the winner. He can make sure that Heliberto and his mother will leave her alone forever. The three of them will be oh! so! happy just like the family they were always meant to be. On the other hand if she refused, she would find out that Heliberto and Fidelia have overwhelming evidence against her. If that were to happen, she would be waving bye bye to Julieta on the way to jail. She would lose everything. Manuela says she is not stupid. If he knows that they have overwhelming evidence against her, he must have been in contact with Fidelia and her son. He denies he ever talked to them. It is just logical that they would have such evidence against her due to the fact that they are threatening her with something. Manuela doesn't believe him. Manuela is so very sorry she ever confided in him. Leandro makes it clear that If she turns this offer down, he will work with Heliberto to have her locked up in jail and she will NEVER see Julieta again.

Fidelia tells her son not to be content with the money Leandro paid them. Their revenge is bigger than that. If it weren't for Soledad he would be big-time baseball player making loads of money. He lost so much time in jail for killing Soledad and she in poverty. A bit of money can hardly pay for that . He asks if Rosendo ever beat her. She says no and adds that he would have seen it. He agrees. Heliberto leaves and we see Fidelia looking at long (suicide?) scars on Fidelio's inner forearm. She says to herself that maybe Rosendo didn't beat her but talking about him reminded her of those (scars.)

Manuela tells Angeles about what Leandro wants. She fears that with his reputation and his contacts in the courts, she is not going to have a choice but to go along with what he wants. She is most worried about Juileta's psychological state since she has now started to gain some emotional stability through therapy and with her being close to her. Angeles asks what kind of evidence could Heliberto and Fidelia have knowing that her mother took the secret that Manuela was the one who killed Rosendo to the grave with her. Manuela wonders if maybe there is something they don't know.

Fidelia tells her son that Manuela is dangerous. They will not kill her but get her to confess so she can suffer in jail like he did. That is their revenge. He asks about the evidence. She will take care of the evidence against her. She won't tell him what it is only that she has it well hidden.

Leandro is texting Manuela saying he trusts she will make the best decision for the three of them.

Julieta is new and improved. She is now worried that something could happen to Manuela like happened to her grandmother. If something were to happen to her, she would die. Through her therapy she has realized many things. One of them is how rude she was to her mother. She doesn't want anything to separate them. She asks Manuela to forgive her. Manuela assures her that they will be together forever. They hug.
 

VENCER Part 2

FRANCO

Paloma tells Tolita she is "preoccupied " about Franco. Tolita tells her she knows she is head over heels in love with him. Paloma doesn't know what to do? She cannot make up her mind. Tolita suggests she get her head together.

It looks like sad sack Franco is leaving the hospital has with his meds and pauses by the garbage can as if he is contemplating throwing them out. (weird scene. any other takes on it?)

Paloma's parents know where to find Franco's parents because he told them they go to a certain restaurant even Monday to work on a Charity Committee. Since Franco's parents are so interested in helping others, why do not they start with their own son? Franco is suffering from depression. They are worried he could do something to himself. Franco's father says it is none of their business. Franco made his bed and now he can lie in it. They cannot be convinced to help their son and leave.

Franco invites Paloma's parents out to eat to thank him for helping him by taking him to the hospital. He has a new cell phone with no contacts from his past. He is happy that they left him their phone number so they could contact him.. He is taking his medication as he should and is renting a place from Doña Efigenia in El Peñón de La Esperanza It is what he can afford since he is still unemployed. The parents mentions that Paloma is going to quit her job or has done so already. Franco also wants to offer Paloma's parents some marketing advice for their new tamal store venture as part of his thank you. Her mother suggests they pay him with their gourmet tamales. They talk about the business and he gives them all sort of advice. He thanks them for looking out for him and wishes them great success. Paloma's mother hopes they will be in contact about the business. Her father apologizes for how cruel they were to him. They hug. Franco leaves. Paloma's mother says it seemed like Franco was saying goodbye forever. Her father agrees.

Paloma wants to find Franco. Tolita is sure he will pop up on his own but reminds Paloma that she is the one who ended it. Paloma's parents come over to cheer her up. Paloma is worried about Franco. He has deleted his existence on social media. She doesn't know what to do: go looking for him or accept that it is over.

A few days later, Paloma still has not heard from Franco so she goes to the prosecutor to report him as missing. He will do her a special favor and help her out looking for Franco even though he doesn't think he has really disappeared. Paloma is exasperated that he doesn't believe her. He also gives her a couple of items to return to Dulce.
 

VENCER Part 3

AMANDA

Tamara and Yaneli agree that Amanda sounds like something is wrong even though she is denying it.

Amanda is at Leandro's office and finds out that Genaro works directly with Leandro and Irineo. She sees him and introduces herself. Shea asks Geanro if he knows who was pressuring him at the jail. Could it have been Nico? Does he have something that implicates him? Did he realize that Dulce had a relationship with him? Genaro says she doesn't know the bad memories all of that bring back to him. he says he got a real beating when he was in jail. He says it was this guy called "El Cimarrón" but he told him that he was only the errand boy. He was only following orders for somebody called "El Patrón" (THE BOSS) The day that Dulce disappeared, they asked him to stay away because the guy involved was very powerful. It was a big deal. Amanda asks him to not tell anyone they had this conversation. She doesn't want her son to think she is indiscrete. Soon he will have to testify at Nico's case but he will only say what he knows. He cannot say that he was the one who ordered him to be beaten. He can only say it was somebody called "El Patrón". She has one more favor. She wants to locate a person who works at this office, a woman named Andrea. She doesn't want to bother her son or for anyone else to know about it.

Amanda tells Leandro she was very worried about Angeles being kidnapped. She doesn't understand why they didn't file a complaint with the police. Leandro explains that the matter is very complex. For Manuela's, Julieta's and her security, he cannot tell her about it. He is doing all he can to get Manuela and Julieta out of the country for a while. He would be going with them. He makes it clear that this case has nothing to do with Nico. It is something for the authorities to take care of. Amanda talks about how worried she is about Nico and Dulce's confrontation in court. Leandro tells her to let it all go. He angrily adds that is the job of the law. He isn't happy she will be offering Dulce a job with her either. She is Pablo's daughter. Pablo is violent and also detests him. She asks about Genaro being the new messenger at his office. She wonders why since he brought up charges against him . He reminds her that Genaro proved he was innocent. He wanted to try to help somebody who was having a rough time. He is like her: altruistic. He invited him to come work with hm and now he is his PATRÓN. (BOSS!!) She remembers what Genaro told her about who was responsible for his beating.

Genaro talks to Yaneli about his job. So far, so good. He says he met her boss Amanda. She asked him to find out about an Andrea Saucedo who worked with Leandro. He suddenly remembers he wasn't supposed to mention it to anyone. Yaneli gets annoyed, calls him a big mouth and gives his fore head a good thump. He laughs thinking Andrea must be a flirty friend of Leandro's which gives him another good thump..

A few days later, Amanda gets a call from Genaro. He has found Andrea Salcedo. She works for Leandro but outside of the office.
 

VENCER Part 4


PABLITO

The doctor tells Leandro that they need anyone who wants to donate a kidney to do compatibility tests. He also mentions that they are going to find out why his treatment failed. Pablo, Carmina and Dulce all take compatibility tests.

Nancy confronts Carmina and tells her that she is to blame for Pablito's ill health because she used him to get and keep Pablo's attention. She stopped the medication he was supposed to take and gave him that tea. Carina warns her to never mention it again because she could easily report her for the theft she committed at Pablo's company.

When Carmina sees Pablo giving Dulce too much attention, she acts overwhelmed and stresses out. Soon she is in her own hospital bed begging Pablo to come back and at least live with her and Pablito.

Manuela visits Pablo to support him having found out about Pablito. She is also wondering what he thinks about their situation. She understands that he needed time to think about it. He says that honesty is a deal breaker for him in a relationship so he needs more time to think about it. She has something else to tell him. He says it isn't a good time. Manuela tells him she loves him. Nancy arrives looking for Carmina. Pablo introduces her to Manuela.

Nancy sees Carmina in her room. Carmina is still stuck on Pablo and doing whatever she has to do to get him away from DAMIAN. DULCE does not exist. When he dies, DAMIAN will be on his grave stone.

Pablo explains Pablito's medical situation to Manuela. He is worried and afraid. Manuela hugs him.

There is only one compatible donor among them: Dulce. Carmina goes wild saying that she will never allow it. Who knows what kind of illnesses an abomination like that could give her son???

At the same time, Nancy is telling Manuela that Carmina has been making her own son sick in order to keep Pablo with her. .


EVERYTHING ELSE


Susana the Elder and Tamara run into each other and actually have a pleasant conversation. They soon discover they have a lot in common. They agree that something is bothering both Enrique and Amanda and that Amanda and Enrique would make a great couple. (DUH!)

Susana the Elder tells Susana the younger how proud she is of her. She has been so brave going to therapy and a nutritionist and not complaining once. Susana the Elder apologizes to her daughter only to find out that Susana the Younger wants to be just like her when she grows up.

Andy thinks that his grandfather Enrique is crabby because he isn't seeing Amanda.

Carlos talks to Pablo at the hospital. They have to replace Joel and Franco but he cannot find Franco. He has disappeared. Pablo asks about Dulce's cellphone. Carlos found out that it came from Nora Pardo's supposed relative. Carmina interrupts the conversation and we never hear anything else.

Gracias, Jarifa. Still many things to resolve with only 4 episodes to go.

I'm glad Nancy is ratting Carmina out. She should not be allowed to kill her son. I just hop Pablo believes what she is now telling Manuela. He has to know this bitch's tricks by now.

Congrats to whoever predicted that Dulce would be the match for kidney donation. The big However in this is that she may not qualify if she has had bottom surgery or if the answer to that question is No, she might not be able to in future. Of course we all knew Carmina would react as she did and here's hoping this will really make her look bad to the relevant authorities.

I have no doubt that Fidelia and Heliberto are trying to manufacture evidence against Manuela, possibly with help from Leandro. This combination deserves more time than four episodes will give.

Tamara and Susanna the Elder seemed to have about-faced a bit suddenly.

I think Franco was contemplating suicide when he looked like he was going to toss the medication. Losing a novia and a job at the same time is about as bad as it gets in his situation. We also got confirmation that his parents are still uncaring.
 

VENCER

Looks like we are on the edge of everything hitting the fan: and a happy ending for some, at least, in four episodes.

Manuela now knows why Pablito is so ill. How long will it take her to tell Pablo? Will she pick up the phone like immediately or will she have to make another journey to the hospital to tell him in person? If she does, should she bring Vicky the lawyer along and ask Pablo he wants to file charges against Carmina.

If we were not so close to the end of the novela, i would say that Genaro would have a target on his head. He couldn't keep his mouth shut and told Yaneli about Andrea? Stupid!

Amanda now has to face the very unpleasant truth that her bouncy baby boy is a criminal. How will she handle the info?
Will she attempt to contact Andrea?

Jorge seemed to have more information on Nora's "supposed" relative who gave Dulce the phone but, of course, we didn't hear the rest of the conversation because of Carmina.

Will we ever see a courtroom scene with Dulce testifying against Nico?

How will Dulce react to the ring (?) and other items prosecutor Bravo gave to Paloma?

Will "Chiro" ever unmask himself to Julieta? Will she get nabbed?

How long until Paloma and Franco stop their hemming and hawing and get back together? Will her parents facilitate a reunion?

It looks like Tamara and Susana the Elder could be instrumental in getting Enrique and Amanda back together. Too bad that Amanda and Enrique do not have the gumption to do it on their own.

The biggest question: Is a khaki jumpsuit or a headstone in Leandro's future?

We also got confirmation that his parents are still uncaring." Interesting take on that scene that makes total sense. He "was" maybe even "is" in bad shape psychologically. His parents were something else. At one point I thought his mother was going to intercede but she allowed herself the conversation and decision to be run by his father. ITA that the friendly conversation between Tamara and Susana the Elder was sudden. At the start of it, Tamara told Susana the Elder that she had basically "resting *itch face" but in more diplomatic terms. Susana at the Elder had to agree.

Great recap Jarifa. Love those questions too! I don’t know how this can be resolved in 4 episodes. I don’t want them to hurry through it.

I liked how Tamara and Susanna went from enemies to friends. And suddenly both think their parents should be together!

Carmina is unreal. She’s almost killed her son and now won’t let Dulce save him. I’m hoping the doctors will learn he didn’t get the treatment and they give it to him and it heals his kidneys. We don’t have time for a transplant and Dulce testifying.

If mother and son grab Julieta will Leandro kill them?

Will Franco’s parents ever change their mind about their son?

Will Joel and Franco end up working together?

These are going to be action packed episodes!

Jarifa, another extraordinary summary. Every day you fill in so much that I don’t understand. I cannot thank you enough for bringing this amazing story to life every day for us.

No surprise that Dulce was Pablito’s match. Carmina’s reaction to the news was heartless, willing to sacrifice her son.

I’m still struggling as to what Leandro wants. Is it that he wants Manuela to bend to his will simply because his ego demands complete capitulation? He loves no one but wants what and who he wants and is willing and able to move hell in order to do so.

“He says that honesty is a deal breaker for him in a relationship so he needs more time to think about it”. What man could hear Manuela’s story and not immediately embrace her, wanting to protect her, keep her safe and heal her wounds? His stalwart blank stare was heartbreaking. Manuela deserves far better.

Amidst the darkness, there were several shards of light. Julieta finally realizing life is precious and precarious, telling her mother she loves her. Paloma’s parents exuding and exemplifying compassion to Franco. The unexpecting bonding between Tamara and Susana. Nancy telling Manuela the truth about Carmina.

Amanda is shrewdly putting the pieces together. A mother slowly learning her son is a monster.

Jarifa, I thought Franco was contemplating throwing the meds away. For the first time, I was riveted by his storyline but am sure Paloma will be able to help pull him through.

I’m very worried about Genaro.

Like Diana, I’m nervous for gullible Genaro. He has gone through a lot, and so eager to “help “ and proud of his job with the “Lic”. Pathetic. Leandro told Irineo to work him up to the “big stuff “ as it’s always important to have a scapegoat (like Nico). And we saw Irineo’s scary side talking to Dulce.

Franco, that Paloma’s parents expressed sounded like final goodbye could support suicide theory.

Leandro still doesn't know Heliberto is Chiro, the one chink in his inpenetrable armor. I think Heliberto is going to strike at Julieta as he and his mother keep mentioning getting to Amanda via her daughter. I think all hell is going to break loose.

"Bouncy baby boy" indeed. Love it. Amanda is smarter and stronger than she gives herself credit for. She withstood a brutal marriage among other heartbreaks. Yet I imagine the courage you need to turn your own child in is immense.

Poor, defenseless Dulce is somehow going to need to play Davy to Leandro's Goliath. She is going to have to unmask Leandro at some point but I can't imagine how that will happen.

Yes, Franco's mother did seem as though she was weakening and had her cold hearted husband not been so cruelly dismissive, thought she would have thawed. Another woman ruled by her husband's will but now I'm hoping she contacts Paloma. I agree Paloma's parents will get them back together.

I usually think life in prison is a worse punishment than death but Leandro needs to come to an end so...

Here is the recaplet. Please add or correct any omissions and errors. Ignore the typos plz. Events are not necessarily listed in the order of occurrence.

PAULA & ROLANDO - Paula finally(!!!) tells Rolando she wants to cancel the wedding. (The Patio cheers) Rol plays the "tus hijos card. He also asks her if she slept with Pepe. Paula never answers that question. Rol gives it the full court press and finally mentions she has months left before she dies and her kids need a stepfather. Later, Suzy has a sad because Rol is sad; she wants him to be her stepfather and for them to live together as a family.

RAFA & PEPE - talk about Pepe's situation. Rafa keeps telling Pepe to be happy, find love, and that he deserves to be happy.

LUCIA - and MAL fight. Lucia is going home (to Pepe's), MAL says this here is your home. They continue to argue.
Later, Reni gives Lucia her sob story about why she needs to be with Emil and please stay away from her. She begs Lucia to not take him from her; that's all she has in her life. (Reni's crazy eyes are cause for concern.)

LORENZO & ISA - Lorenzo goes to the restaurant and gives Isa the papers Alex needs to sign, in order to transfer ownership of the land. They talk, he realizes she still loves him (Lorenzo). He tells her he is going to luchar for su amor and that just knowing she still loves him is enough ... (dun dun DUNNNNN!) for now.

ALEX - and Gracia talk. He tells Gracia that he and Julieta (Lorenzos dead wife) made a pact that they would do whatever it took to separate Lor and Isa.

RAFA & MALena - Rafa is upset when MAL tells him that Alex is staying at her house. She also tells him that she and Pepe are going to make their marriage work. Raf tells her that he doens't think so; Pepe spent the night with Paula! Says Pepe wont'stay with MAL because she deceived him. MAL says she deserves the same forgiveness that ISA got. She thought she could shock him, but Rafa tells her he knows they were an item a long time ago.

MAL believes that if Isa and Alex get back together, then she and Pepe will, too. Rafa tells her that Pepe doesn't love her anymore. MAL has teflon ears and brain.

DIEGO - Paula takes Diego out for another driving lesson. Diego asks Paula for the truth: He believes she doesn't like Rol and she's in love with Pepe. He says he knows his dad would want Paula to move on but not with someone she doesn't love, whether it's Rolando or anyone else.

He also tells Paula that when he went to Rols'place in the city, Natalia was there and there was a weird vibe in the air, as if they "tuvieron ondas". (slang for rolled in the hay?) Paula says, "Really?" Diego says he can't say for sure but she needs to check that out.

ROLANDO - being the slimeball snake he is, demanded Pepe to stay away from Paula & family or he will tell everyone that Rafa is Lorenzo's son. Blackmail city. Pepe tells him toleave and does not promise anything. (yay Pepe!)

NATALIA - Someone here on the Patio predicted Natalia would have her mother work as Paula's housekeeper and act as her spy. Bingo! Later, she tells Paula she has someone to be her maid.
Then Paula asks Nat what are her feelings for Rolando.

I, too, think Franco is at a very low point and was wondering if life was still worth living as his bundle of pills hovered over the trash can. Poor guy . His parents are showing no love and compassion . He's lost his novia and job.He seems knocked down and without hope.

What struck me the most in this episode was Paloma's parents stepping up to support and talk to Franco. I loved seeing the love and concern they showed to somebody who was really devastated and lost They have redeemed themselves, for sure.

The turn around for Tamara and Susana was too abrupt .

I think Amanda is going to try to find Andrea. I can't wait to see what will be uncovered about Leondro.

Leondro will kill Heli and his mother if they go after Julieta.

Again , I will say that Gabe Soto has found his niche ....subtle, scary evil.

I’m so glad Diego spoke up to Paula. At least now she’s suspicious of Rolando and Natalia. I’m glad she cancelled the wedding but wonder if she’ll change her mind. She has Susie and Rolando pressuring her and Pepe could go back to MAL. I did like that he didn’t believe Rolando saying Paula told him about Rafa

I’m hoping Natalia’s mother will like Paula and the family and not share anything with Natalia.

Rafa really wants Pepe to get with Paula. I guess he figures that will leave the field open for him.

Reno is a spoiled brat that’s so used to getting her way. I hope Lucia stays very leery of her.

"Rol gives it the full court press and finally mentions she has months left before she dies and her kids need a stepfather". Now that was surely a way to get Paula to change her mind. NOT! Paula seems immune to his begging and pleading. She always looks at him as though she detects a foul but noticeable odor.

I hated seeing Suzi having a sad. The little darling really believes in Rolo! When he hugged her, I thought I saw a glimmer of genuine affection in his eyes, but it was extinguished so quickly I couldn't determine if I was simply hoping he had a bit of humanity left.

Loved that Pepe didn't back down or give in to Rol's blackmail.

Lor and Isa are inevitable. But what to do about pesky Alex??

Rafa telling MAL that Pepe doesn't love her any more and that Pepe loves Paula is true. Somehow I think that is just going to add fuel to her fire. She will never willingly back down.

Good job on whomever predicted Nat's mother will come on board. Of course Paula made it clear she wasn't to reveal who she is.

I wish Paula had put Diego's observation on Rolo in "the vault" for the time being and did a little investigating before confronting Nat directly. I suspect she will lie through her teeth. And not for the first time!!

I am starting to think that Lor is actually Isabel's one true love and that they will end up together . Rico, sauve Juan Soler has to be the winner of the lady's hand , right? Will he share that wardrobe of scarves with her ?

I am ready for Lor to give rough neck Rafa a makeover and for Rafa to snap out of his obsession with MAL. MAL is cruising for an anvil . Will she continue to try to kill Paula ?


Are Isabel and Gracias sisters ? Would it be weird for Gracia to end up with dour, sour Alex? She seems to cheer him up a little.

I have no tolerance for poor little rich girl Ren. So,She has taken up permanent residence at Paula's place . She doesn't work or go to school.

Susy's voice hurt my ears, but it appears to have dropped a few decibels and isn't as hard to listen to.

--- There have been novelas in the past in which the protagonist marries the villain
--- Pepe getting back with MALena for the sake of a child not yet on this earth, which gives us a game of Mixed Doubles
--- Suzy squeaking up in favor of Rolando will get to Paula

...and if she marries him he will ignore Suzy altogether which will mess with her feelings.

As to Rolando's threat, it's time everyone in both families knows. Make a pre-emptive strike so he will have no thunder.

Renata seems headed toward becoming a future story on Deadly Women.

As to protecting her children Paula should look to Lorenzo. He's their abuelo, he seems in good health, and he loves them. Emiliano is almost an adult, and Diego has good radar.

No predictions yet about Nat's mother.

Yep, it's like Susana the Elder and Tamara realized there were only 4 epis left. Their new alliance didn't ring true.

I felt bad for Tamara and Nico's kids. I don't think that Tamara gets that he was their favorite parent. She doesn't seem to realize how devastating his being locked up is for them.

I fear for Genaro too. Loose lips sink ships.

I was glad Paula told Rol that she wanted to call off the wedding too, but he did make some good arguments. She keeps doing things at a whim and it is going to confuse the kids, especially Susy. Once again, Paula is thinking only of herself.

I was hoping Diego’s attitude toward Rol was more than just a feeling of mistrust. The kid is a grouch but has good sense.

I too think that Lor and Isabela will somehow end up together…but what to do about Alex??? Gracia is not Isabel’s sister, but it would still be awkward if she pursued Alex.

I kindof sortof wondered, too, about Alex and Gracia possibly ending up as a pair by the time this is over. They certainly have had a fair amount of screen time together, lately. Also, she was not impressed with Marco's profession of love but maybe Alex would be a better fit.

Apparently I'm the only person who isn't annoyed with the actor playing Pepe and am fine with this portrayal. Having an actor who is not a heartthrob hottie helps see him as an everyday person, just as Pepe is, and more authentic. JMO I also haven't seem him in anything, in ages, so there is that.

Marlena's anvil can't come soon enough. Will she even still be alive by the Gran Por Fin?
 

OT...Receta...videos of the "El Amor no Tiene Receta" are online today. Both Daniel and Claudia seem very happy and animated about the show.

VENCER LA CULPA #74 Page 1

Here we go!

1. As the doctor hears Carmina go berserk about the possibility of Dulce donating a kidney to Pablito, he has to remind her and Pablo that the most important thing is that their son gets a kidney. Pablo leaves with him to find out the details as Carmina screams NOOOOO!!!!!!

2. Paloma is convinced that Prosecutor Bravo is not going to do anything to find Franco. As she and Polita talk about what to do next, they just miss Franco crossing the street.

3. Manuela tells Vicky that Nancy told her about what Carmina did to hold on to Pablo. Manuela thinks she must be seriously mentally unbalanced.

4. The doctor tells Pablo what he needs to tell his daughter Dulce so she knows what to expect. The doctor still cannot tell him why Pablito got so ill. Pablo tells him that his most recent doctor was Dr. Gutiérrez who he does not trust. The one before him was Dr. Chavo. This doctor is going to consult with him.

5. Yaneli and Axel agree they are just nerds as each are planning their university education. Yaneli finds it cool that they are at the same place in their lives and can support each other.

6. Dulce pops up. She is waiting for news on Pablito. Yaneli introduces her to Axel. Axel finds it necessary to comment on how he knows now violent Genaro was with her but adds that it wasn't good that Genaro ended jailed for something he didn't do. (????) Luckily for Dulce his "happy talk" is cut short, when Pablo calls her and tells her that she is the only match for Pablito. Dulce smiles.

7. Amanda shows up at Andrea's office (wherever that is.) She tells her that she is opening a new location for her business and needs the assistance of a manager/consultant like her to advise her on the rent, licenses, etc. She mentions that she found out about her at her son's office. Her son is Leandro Govea. Amanda knows that she must work hard and be a real professional working at his office. She k nows she even had to go to a morgue!! Andrea tells her she has been working for Leandro's firm for six years. Suddenly, she has to go! The meeting is cut short! She tells Amanda to leave her number with her secretary and she will get back to her. (Sure)

8. Pablo comforts his son who is scared. All Pablito wants to do is live. Neither of them will give up.

9. Manuela texts Pablo from the waiting room. They need to talk. Pablito wants to meet her.

10. Manuela meets Pablito. She remarks how handsome he is. He says he takes after his dad. Dulce arrives and she and Manuela hug.

11. Still at the hospital, Leandro has arrived. Carmina complains about all of the tests Pablito is going to have to go through before his surgery because nobody knows what diseases that freak (Dulce) could have. Leandro thinks that Pablito will recover perfectly.
Carmina thinks it would be perfect for the transplant to happen and for that monster to die. Leandro says Dulce is going to have several stressful days going forward with her being a donor and having to confront Nico in court. Carmina asks why he is being that chimera's lawyer prosecuting his own brother-in -law. He corrects her. His "ex" brother-in-law. He starts to pontificate about being a lawyer who believes in justice. Carmina isn't buying it. She is sure he is up to something. She thinks he knew Damián from before and didn't like him. He tells her she is wrong. Carmina decides if life were fair, she would end up with Pablo thanks to Pablito being at the brink of death.

12. Manuela tells Pablo what Nancy told her. He is confused that Nancy didn't tell him herself. Manuela says there could be lots of reasons for that like her being afraid of what Carmina would do, He thinks there is something wrong with Carmina's head that she would risk her son's life to get him back. Manuela wanted him to know but reminds him that he needs proof , like finding out about the tea Carmina was giving to his son, before doing anything. Pablo feels guilty for not being more involved in Pablito's medical care. He feels like the worst father in the world. Manuela reminds him that no parent is perfect.

13. Pablito and Dulce getalong like two peas in pod. He missed her so much. He feels bad that his mom won't recognize her for who she is but he will call her Dulce. Dulce thinks he is really smart. Pablito is happy she came back for him and their dad who had a real rough time not hearing from her.

14. Tolita suggests that Paloma submit her own project to Pablo's business competition. Paloma does not they would be interested in a"virtual agency". Also, she doesn't feel like it would be right to enter the same competition that Franco left behind. Paloma misses Franco and feels bad that by now she is just another stranger in his life. Paloma wants some dramatic change in her life.

15. Franco pops up at Paloma's parents stand for some nice young pork tamales. The parents tell him they have found out so much about HIV. He is happy they have done so. Paloma's mom thinks that he would do well informing people about the disease and how he lives with it.

16. Paloma's mom gets a very depressing text from her daughter. Paloma cannot take it anymore. She wants to say goodbye and never be heard from again. She shows the text to her husband and they think that Paloma is saying goodbye to them and is doing something drastic.

17. Pablo admits to Manuela he has made lots of mistakes. The first thing he needs to do is put Carmina in her place. She has to pay for what she did. Manuela tells him to be careful.

18. Carmina arrives saying it is too bad that they leave just anyone in the hospital as she eyes Manuela. Manuela excuses herself and leaves. As if she is living in a another world, Carmina tells Pablo how they are staying together for the well-being of Pablito.

19. Dulce arrives to talk to her father. Carmina asks if she has been with her son. Dulce thinks it would be better if Carmina didn't speak to her. She doesn't deserve the son she has. Dulce doesn't understand how Pablito could be such a good person with a mother like HER. Carmina explodes in anger asking how dare she ???? Pablo leads Dulce away trying to calm her down.

20. Fidelia is angry that Heliberto agreed to stay on the sidelines as Leandro requested. She sees them with their hands tied. Heliberto insists that he had no choice. She reminds him that she was patient when he was in jail . She doesn't have long left in this world and she doesn't think he cares about her at all. Heliberto gets angry saying that he has done all of this for her, to please her. He killed Soledad for her. He had dedicated his whole life to her revenge. He leaves.

21. The phone rings. Fidelia answers. It is Leandro wanting to talk to Heriberto. She asks him why Violeta is still running around out there and doing so well?? She informs him that SHE and NOT HER SON is in charge. He asks her if she still has the photos that Heliberto took of Julieta. Yes, she has them.

22. Carlos tells Pablo that there is not a trace of Nora Parade ANYWHERE. There is no family history or anyone who knows her. He also doubts that what Dulce told him about getting her phone from a man who was like a father to Nora is true. It is also a burner phone that can be bought at any convenience store. The only info that he has is that the phone was purchased with a debit card belonging to ANDREA SAUCEDO. The name is not familiar to Pablo.

23. Suddenly, Manuela is getting photos of Julieta on her cellphone. They arrive with a message: "The guilt of a mother is always going to fall on her daughter, so you better take care of Juieta because we have always been here and can do whatever we feel like to her."

24. After sending the photos and message, Fidelia smiles.

25. A terrorized Manuela runs to Julieta's school to make sure she is okay only to find out the students have already left. She calls Julieta but there is no answer.

26. Manuela's parents go to her apartment and get in with a key that their mother kept after moving out. They find Manuela on the couch unconscious??? dead??? They see a bottle of pills. Her mother screams for her father to call for an ambulance. Paloma wakes up wondering what is going on.

27. Franco has taken Paloma's mother's idea about informing people about HIV and how it affects his life to an agency. (?) They seem to like his idea.

28. Paloma is sorry that she scared her parents with her text. That was not her intention. She has decided that love is not for her. She is going to accelerate her plans and leave very soon. Paloma's father says she was not at fault for what happened with her novios or relationships. Those all ended because of him and her mother. Her mother apologizes for what they did. Paloma has forgotten all about it. It seems like so long ago. Her mother tells her there is a man who does still love her. Her father says it is Franco. They have been in contact with him and it is clear that he and Paloma love each other and that they need each other.

29. Tamara and Amanda are involved in her moving her shop from Enrique's property. Tamara insists on having a supper there celebrating the move with Enrique's family. They can close the cycle with his family on good terms that way. Amanda has no interest in anything like that. Enrique's family is telling him about the going away supper they are having for Amanda. They beg him to come. He isn't sure he wants to.

30. Paloma's parents tell her how Franco is suffering without her and how his parents have basically abandoned him giving him up for dead. Paloma's dad says they didn't tell her earlier because they didn't know if it would be good for her to know. Now they think she needs to know. She can yell at them if she wants to. Paloma has no interest in that. She can see that they have learned their lesson and have changed their attitude. Her mother says they are doing their best to be better people. They saw Franco and he was very depressed. Paloma doesn't know she can trust Franco. She is also putting herself first now before any relationship. He father tells her not to make any wild decisions but to listen to her heart.

31. Julieta finds Manuela at home. She tells her how scared she was when she couldn't contact her. Julieta reminds her she still has the bodyguard that her father hired. Manuela tells her they they are in danger. Manuela asks her if she has found somebody on the social networks. Julieta admits she found a boy who also is into K-Pop. They made friends online but she has never seen him. His name s Chiro. Manuela tells her that it is a real possibility that he is the attacker who has been following them. Manuela shows her the photos she has received. Julieta looks at them and cries. She feels like a fool. She did a lot of things for Chiro. Manuela asks if that includes the injections. Julieta admits that Chiro really pressured her to look like "the ultra perfect girls" online. Manuela is afraid they are going to do something to her. Julieta says that Angeles always has told her that living in fear is not living. Manuela adds that sometimes to live not in fear, we have to make hard decisions.

32. Pablo talks to Dulce. Dulce is calm about donating the kidney and testifying. Pablo asks her again to forgive him for not being the best father. He wants to fix the mistakes he has made. Pablo believes they need total honesty between them. He asks her who gave her the cellphone again. She doesn't have a chance to answer because Carmina has arrived with Leandro who wants to see Pablito. She adds that Pablito also wants to see him! Leandro goes with Carmina to sign authorization forms for Pablito's treatment and leaves Leandro with Dulce.

33. Leandro reminds Dulce about her testimony in the case against Nico. It is happening in a couple of days. She is to repeat word for word what they told her to say. If she doesn't, Pablito won't have a kidney donor anymore.

34. Leandro, Pablo and Carmina give Pablito a pep talk. Leandro explains that he and his father are putting their differences aside because at moments like this, people should come together. Carmina agrees. Pablito is happy that Leandro came to see him. Leandro and Carmina leave.

35. Pablito asks his father if he and his mother are getting back together. Pablo says no they are not. Pablo tells him that he knows that his mother stopped his medication and gave him some kind of tea. He asks what he knows. Pablito says that his mother told him the tea would cure him. She had him drink it every day.

36. Enrique and Amanda are surprised by a romantic supper that has been set up for them by their families. Tamara says that it was the only way to get them back together to talk. They are not pleased. . . at first.

37. Angeles asks Manuela if her decision is the best she could come up with. Manuela insists it is. Angeles holds Manuela as she cries telling her how much she loves her. Manuela insists that she has to do this for Julieta. There is a knock at the door. It is Leandro. Manuela tells him she is accepting his proposal to go wherever he wants with him and Julieta.

38. Amanda and Enrique have a lovely supper. Enrique thinks their problem was that they always kept their feelings locked up inside rather than expressing them and doing what they wanted. Amanda needs to talk to somebody and decides it is going to be him. She thinks that she discovered something about Leandro something that is really bad.

39. Manuela tells Julieta that at the end of the school year, they are going with her father somewhere away from Mexico for a while. Julieta is not happy and Leandro is surprised. Julieta says all of her friends, her uncles and grandma are here. Manuela informs her that this is being done for her own safety. Julieta thanks her for putting her first. She is the best. Manuela lets Julieta to talk alone with Leandro.

40. Leandro is all excited that finally Julieta and he are going to have their dream family. He will do everything he can do to get Manuela back so they can be a couple again. Then they all can be happy. Julieta tells him that is not what she wants. She doesn't like him forcing her mother into doing something she doesn't want to do. She is okay with having a father and mother who are not together. They are still her parents and love her the same. She is turned off by how intense he is being about this. She doesn't want to talk about it. She asks where they are going. Are they going to join her half-brothers Luis and Valentino?

41. Enrique tells Amanda that if Dulce is involved with Leandro, it must be something really serious. Amanda doesn't know what is going on. She knows her son is very able and a manipulator. Any time she has pointed out his mistakes, he knew how to turn it back on her. That is why she doesn't want to confront him now. That being said, she feels like she should do something. Whatever she decides, Enrique says he will always be by her side.

DAYS LATER

42. Everyone is in the courtroom at the Ministerio Público. Pablo arrives with Dulce. Amanda greets them and Dulce starts to cry. She asks Dulce if she can talk to her.

43. Amanda tells Dulce that she know she hasn't been frank with her. She also knows that telling the truth can affect those around us and cause collateral damage. No matter what, it is always better to tell the truth. Dulce asks why is she telling her this. Amanda tells her that she knows that she lied about how and when she met Nico. Even though Amanda cannot stand Nico, nobody deserves to be the victim of injustice. Dulce start to cry again.

44. Genaro testifies that he never met Nico and that he never threatened him directly. El Cimarrón told him that the person that ordered him to be beat up was somebody called EL PATRON. He was told that if he didn't take the fall for Dulce's disappearance, they would hurt his family. The prosecutor says the have evidence from El Cimarrón that Nico paid for the beating. Nico insists that is impossible. He has no money.

45. Paloma ends up entering the competition at Pablo's company. They pick her project to support. Carlos says it had everything they wanted. They also have hired a new consultant to work on it with her. Surprise!! It is Franco.

46. Back at court, Nico tries to defend himself saying that he is being railroaded. He has been set up.

47. Dulce is questioned next. She is asked if Nico is the person who kidnapped her and deprived her of her freedom. She looks for a cue from Leandro who has his eyes set straight ahead. In tears, Dulce says she has to be honest and tell the truth. Nico was not the man who kidnapped her. Leandro scowls.

VIDA Ep. 23 Part 1 (I didn't proofread so "scuse the typos)

Andrea sees that Lucia has a long face and assumes it's because of Renata (BINGO!!) Lucia acknowledges that Reni was there but she was vey nice and sincere...when she asked Lucia to stay away from Emi. But Andrea is no fool because she knows Reni has some very long fangs. Lucia dreams of loving only one person, having a family and keeping their family together...unlike her mother.

As we just[pected, Nat denies, denies denies having a relationship with Rol and is buy hurt that Paula would even ask. Nat tells Paula that Diego must have misread the situation. Paula ends up apologizing Uphhh! Paula then mentions that she is having doubts about marrying Rol.

Emi tries hard to convnce himself that he loves Reni and erases a message he was sending to Lucia.

On the other side of town, Pepe is also trying to convince himself that his kids are most important and everything else can wait. He calls Lucia to suggests they spend some time together; and when he asks about Teo, the find that he is missing! Pepe goes to ask Mal if Teo is with her. MAL feigns concern.

Rafa continues asking Lor for information. Lor admits that he is still very much in love with Isabela. Lor inadvertently mentions that their love happened 40 years ago so Rafa quickly calculates that Lor and his mother had an affair. Lor explains that Alex had abandoned the family at that time. Lor then adds that he returned only to find out something important. Rafa questions if that something important had anything to do with him.

Gracia is once again with Alex who asks her not to tell Isabela of his agreement with Julieta. Isabela calls asking if Teo is there...and tells him Teo is missing.

MAL is freaking out yelling for Teo. (Uhmmm, isn't Teo deaf???)

Nat is trying to convince Paula that Pepe is a man the can't be taken serious...and that Rol is Paula's perfect man for her and for her children. Pepe calls looking for Teo and asking if he is with Suzy. Paula runs to the house and stye find the she is missing too!!

Rafa is very insistent in his questioning, but Paula interrupts asking for Susy. Nopis, Suzy is not there. Meanwhile, Nat calls Rolando and tells him that Suzy is missing and it's his opportunity to be the hero.

Everyone looks for the kids. Pepe and Paula meet up and give each other some very loving, comforting hugs as MAL and Nat observe. MAL is huffing like a bull.

Alex and Gracia go to the restaurant and Isabel is upset the Gracia was with Alex. Gracia explains that she was just trying to help Isabel and advises Isabela that she needs to talk to her husband...who is a very special person--any woman would be lucky to have him!

Rafa and Lor meet up with Alex and Andrea. Alex tells Rafa to go with him to look for Teo but Rafa prefers to go with Lor.

Suzy shows up at Rol's house. She came to visit him because he was sad after fighting with her mother. She wants him to be her father!!

MAL pulls Pepe away from Paula so they can go look for Teo. MAL confronts Pepe about sleeping with "sea vieja" (that woman). Her blood boils when she sees how Pepe and Paula look at each other!

Andrea asks Alex about leaving his house, but he deflects saying that they need to go look for Teo


 

VIDA Ep 23 Part 2

Paula is about to report that Susy is missing when Rol calls that Suzy is missing. Nat points out that Paula is very lucky to have Rol helping her.

MAL starts having stomach pains (is she pretending ?) and tells Pepe she needs to go to the restroom. She goes and takes Teo out of the closet and tells him to pretend that he is asleep...and he is to say exactly what they rehearsed. She then goes to get Pepe and takes him to Teo telling him that ther son misses her so much....her heart breaks seeing that her son is suffering so much because they aren't together. Back in the living room, MAL pulls on Pepe's guilt strings and starts having stomach pains again when Paula calls.. Lucia enters and overhears that Isabela is pregnant. After Pepe takes Isabela to the hospital, Lucia cries the proverbial "no puede ser!" And knows that the baby is her uncle's.

Rol takes Susy back. When Paula arrives she feels faint before going inside. Nat admits that she knows that Paula has a brain tumor. Paula cries that she doesn't want to tell her children yet. Nat tells her that she is trying to help her as much as she can (while stabbing her back and anxiously waiting for her to die!).Once inside, Susy squeals that she is sorry..but she doesn't want them to fight...she wants them to get married and wants Rol to be her father and live there!

And we end at the hospital--MAL accuses Pepe of wanting the baby to die so he can go be with his lover. When the doctor asks if Pepe is the father, Pepe remains quiet...and MAL gives him a piercing look...

UrbanA is right. MALena has got to have borderline personality disorder. She is relentless. What a horrible person, to have Teo hide and be complicit in her manipulation. Ugh. I thought she was faking the abdominal pain, but she was willing to go to the hospital so maybe something really is going on. I'm wishing Pepe would tell the doc, "Nopis, the bio-dad is some rando she doesn't know his name."

Rafa's reaction when he hears about the ER trip will be interesting.

Rafa is putting 2+2 together re: Lor and Isa.

Note to Paula: do NOT marry someone just because your innocent naive child wants it. Trust your gut and RUN!!!

The madness continues but at least Carmina and Leandro are getting unmasked. She is truly unhinged; on the same level as Fidelia and her hellspawn. Both she and Leandro have motive here. Disgusting.

There is likely to be an FPS for Franco and Paloma but I wonder how effective his PSA tour will be and if it's likely to hurt his career. I don't know how many people have the same attitudes as his parents but Carmina is an example of people younger than they being just as ignorant and hateful about sex-related medical situations.

I think that the scenario I came up with for Leandro's "family trip" needs a bit more time than we have left... unless this ends on a cliffhanger which I hope it doesn't.

It also occurred to me that MALena was faking, but she was willing to go to the hospital. My guess about tonight is that either Pepe will say he's the father or will be interrupted by somebody barging in. The DNA in that family is so mixed up at this point that if the evil one is actually having a miscarriage it could be because of an Rh issue or something else.

Rolando is a master manipulator and it's criminal that he is using a child to accomplish this objective. Paula's sense of guilt is strong enough to drive her to the altar with Rolando who is an insecure control freak. Is that why he's never been married?

Renata is a MALena in training and she will become just as bad or worse. She has abandonment issues. We don't know anything about MALena's backstory but I would bet she grew up fatherless. Emiliano needs to watch out and sleep with a nightlight on.

Enrique's kids and Tamara are pains, but I confess I enjoyed their surprise to get Enrique and Amanda to mend fences.

Yay! - Amanda told Enrique her suspicions about Leandro. It's a shame Manuela doesn't tell Pablo all about Leandro's bad deeds and manipulations, but then Pablo would be useless anyway. ("I need time to process.")

Dulce tells the truth! Now she needs a bodyguard too.

I enjoyed the surprise dinner for Enrique and Amanda. I’m glad Amanda will have someone at her side when she learns about her son. I also liked that the kids and grandkids worked together to bring it about. I predict the families will become friends.

Yea for Julieta. She knows her mother is only going with Leandro for Julieta’s safety and is not happy with her father. Maybe that will make it easier on her when the truth comes out.

I think Heriberto is realizing he’s ruined his life so his mom can get vengeance. And maybe he’s starting to believe Manuela’s story.

It took a lot for Dulce to tell the truth about Nico. Too bad she didn’t point the finger at Leandro. I hope she tells someone her life is in danger. And Pablito’s. I don’t think Leandro would have any problem killing them both.

If you’re depressed don’t tell Paloma’s parents goodbye. They had the same thoughts about Franco and Paloma. A final goodbye!

Carmina is a sicko. Would she let her son just die. Probably, since the last time he was hospitalized the doctor told her his kidneys could be destroyed.

Hoping the good guys start winning tonight!

Jarifa, your well written, intriguing, and simply sensational recap had me on the edge of my seat.

Has Dulce just signed her death warrant?? Her face contorted in pain and fright Dulce bore the weight of the world on her slight shoulders. Brave beyond belief, the truth is out there. Well, at least part of the truth – Nico’s non guilt.

“All Pablito wants to do is live”. Pablito’s life hangs in the balance as his potential donor is in grave danger. I cringed that Pablito obviously likes Leandro who does not care a whit if he lives or dies.

Carmina should have as dire a fate as Leandro, Heliberto and Fidelia. She is just as toxic a mother as Fidelia is.

“The only info that he has is that the phone was purchased with a debit card belonging to ANDREA SAUCEDO”. The clues are slowly being revealed but are being found by the wrong person. If Andrea tells Leandro that Amanda went to see her (which is likely) that may turn out to be a grievous mistake. Leandro is many things but stupid he is not .

“Julieta tells him that is not what she wants. She doesn't like him forcing her mother into doing something she doesn't want to do”. I was so happy to hear that and enjoyed every single moment of Leandro’s puzzled and increasingly agitated response to Julieta’s newly found defense of her mother.

Manuela is petrified especially now knowing Heliberto will stop at nothing to impose his “justice” on her and Julieta. Even if she could count on Pablo (STILL ruminating as to how he can “process” HER story) which she can’t, she is virtually defenseless. But oh, what she doesn’t know about Leandro might turn this fractured fairy tale into a nightmare from which there will be no recovery.

Time for Franco and Paloma to realize they are to be together and admit it to each other and to us. We have only three precious episodes and need time to wrap up everything else…

What is going to happen tonight??? Can’t wait.

I love vocabulary and am adding "sea vieja" (that woman)” to my list.

“Nat tells her that she is trying to help her as much as she can (while stabbing her back and anxiously waiting for her to die!)” is exactly right and had me smiling away. SO transparently evil.

MAL has no love for her children and not the slightest shred of guilt for manipulating Teo. She is reprehensible. So, I gather the writers have decided that now that MAL is pregnant, she should be sporting more dignified clothes, meaning shirts with peekaboo holes rather than midriff baring tops. 😊

Sweet Susi walking right into Rol’s!! Talk about being delivered on a silver platter.

Rafa stuck like glue to Lor when the search parties set off, not unnoticed by Alex. Or viewerville.

“Gracia explains that she was just trying to help Isabel and advises Isabela that she needs to talk to her husband...who is a very special person--any woman would be lucky to have him!” Ahh haa! Those of us who were highly suspicious of this potential pairing shake our heads knowingly.

I am anxious to see how the writers are going to conclude these stories . I especially want to know exactly what Leondro is la Patron of .

I was touched by the scene between Manuela and Angeles with Helena's beautiful photos on the wall behind them . I think that embrace was real and heartfelt . It was a poignant moment .

I am still wondering how Heli is out of jail since he murdered Manuela's mother. The look on his face as his mother rented and raved seemed like he is starting to question what she has gotten him into .

The actress playing Dulce is doing a masterful job of portraying this character . I think she is going to have a successful career.

The acting has been very good .

I hope we get some answers that make sense when everything is revealed about Leondro's part in all The darkness. Any guesses ?

Question ...Does " vieja" actually mean " old woman?" Yikes . Low blow . meow...MAL is so jealous of her gorgeous competition.

I think MAL is faking the pains . Those pains arrived at just the right moment to keep Pepe's attention after the search for the hidden-not- missing Teo was suddenly found by MAL in a bathroom closet. Mother of the Year candidate right there.

I got a kick out of Rafa and Lor holding the props during that tree house building scene ...A level and a hammer ...like they had never seen these things before. I am already imagining Rafa's miraculous transformation into a suitwearing master of industry.

I thought it was a cute way to get them back together though. it did make me laugh.

Thanks, Rgv Chick, I enjoyed reading and reviewing the events of last night. Will Paula go with Suzy’s wishes or Diego’s? It’s hard to tell if Rolando cares for the kids or not. Or even Paula. I thought he killed her husband because he loved her but I wonder if it was always about money. I wonder how long he and Natalia have been friends.

MAL is something else. She puts Teo in a closet for who knows how long and has everyone worried and panicked. I’m glad she had to witness Pepe and Paula hugging. I thought the stomach pains were fake, not sure why she’d do that. At first I thought it was an excuse to go to the restroom.

I can’t believe Isabela was jealous of Gracia. What does she expect! Gracia and Alex would be a good couple. Popular opinion seems to be that Lorenzo and Isabella will end up together.

Rafa’s questioning made me think he already suspects Lorenzo might be his father. It needs to come out in the open soon.

I like Pepe and Paula as a couple. I think the chemistry is there and they’re both nice people.
