Minas

I'll do Thursday's and Friday's recaps as usual. If there is indeed an episode on Tuesday, I say we split them, Diana. Tell me if you prefer Monday or Tuesday.

MINAS

Weirdo, Uni just did a quick promo that this will end on Tuesday.

It would be great to split next week. Because there are always things that I don't understand, I would prefer to do Monday. That way, you will be able to recap the finale on Tuesday without the loose ends that I would leave.

Thank you so much!

Diana

VENCER LA CULPA #65 Page 1

DULCE/NICO

Dulce tells Amanda that when she started working at her shop, she met Nico. She didn't know he was her son-in-law. Yes, they had a relationship. Dulce felt embarrassed by the whole situation and that is why she didn't want to see her. It was Nico's and her mistake. Amanda tells her not to feel bad since it wasn't only her fault. It was that small man Nico's fault. She didn't know he could be that brutal. Dulce explains that when they broke up Nico got angry and started to act violently towards her and to threaten her with telling Amanda that she was stealing from her shop. He was going to destroy her. She was getting more and more scared because he was so toxic and aggressive until one day he told her that if she ever opened her mouth, he would kill her because he was afraid that everyone would find out that he had been going out with a trans woman. Amanda has so many mixed feeling not for Nico but for Tamara and her children. Nevertheless, she tells Dulce that Nico he has to pay for what he did. It is Dulce's duty to make her statement and accuse Nico now. Amanda is going to ask Leandro to help her out along with Manuela and Vicky.

Dulce shows up at the prosecutor's office with Manuela, Amanda, Leandro and Vicky. She makes her statement and signs it. She didn't want her father to attend. We find out that Brayan kidnapped Dulce on Nico's order, guarded her and told her all of the terrible things that could happen to her. Amanda and Leandro agree that Nico has to pay for what he did. Leandro tells Dulce that they are all there for her. Throughout the scene, Dulce keeps looking at Leandro warily as if she needs his approval.

Earlier Nico goes to see Leandro demanding to know if there will ever be an agreement with Tamara. Leandro tells him to calm down. Leandro says he isn't his sister's lawyer. Nico wants to know who he is. Leandro says if he wants to know to get money from Tamara , he is not going to get one red cent from her. He also tells him to forget about getting custody of his children. Nico says that is not happening and Leandro gets up and grabs him and throws him down on a chair. He reminds him he is just a swindler who never could make a business successful on his own. He tells him to shut up! Nico leaves with his tail between his legs saying he knows that they will come to an agreement.

Tamara is trying to have a nice family moment with her children when Nico arrives wanting to see his kids. The kids are happy to see them, too. Nobody will let him see them. Tamara calls him a liar. The argument doesn't last long because the police arrive and arrest him for the unlawful detention and attempted murder of Dulce. They drag him away as his kids beg them not to take their daddy away! Tamara cannot believe it and admits that her children have had the worst parents ever. Amanda tells her now is the team to turn it around with her kids.

Nico tells the prosecutor that he is innocent. He would never go out with a trans thing like Dulce. He is a real man. He barely knew her. He did nothing to her. It is Dulce's word against his. The prosecutor tells him that the investigation continues. His house and car are being searched. They have his cellphone and the records of all of his calls and texts as well as photos of Dulce. What does he have to say for himself? A desperate Nico says somebody could have planted those things as evidence against him. His cellphone was stolen from him! He remembers . . .

VENCER LA CULPA Page 2

Dulce talks with Pablo. He explains that he doesn't want to lose her again. He adds that he is also between a rock and a hard place with Carmina trying to take Pablito away from him. After the divorce they have not been able to come to an agreement. Now Leandro is her lawyer and is close to Carmina and his son. As soon as Dulce hears that, she tells him to do whatever he can to get Pablito away from Carmina. He asks why she reacted that way saying that Carmina is Pablito's mother and would always look out for Pablito. He mentions that Carmina told him that a Nora Pardo might have known where she was when they couldn't find find her. He asks if she knows who Nora is. She supposedly claimed Brayan's body. He reminds her that she said that Nora died before she disappeared. What relationship did she have with her.?Dulce thinks back sitting at a table with Nora who was telling her of a job she got for her at a pet shop. She knew the owners but didn't want her name to be mentioned. The owner was Amanda and should not know about her existence. Dulce agreed. Suddenly Nora's novio arrived and she had to go. Her novio was Leandro. Dulce saw them kissing. Back in the present, Pablo asks her what is wrong?? Does it have to do with Nora? Dulce is silent.

MANUELA

Manuela is finding out that the park wasn't such a good public place to meet as Heliberto steps closer to her. She could shout but there is nobody to hear her. He knows she had a foster mother but does she still remember her mother Soledad who gave birth to her? She asks how would he ever thinksthat she would forget her. He answers that it looks like she has. She didn't do anything special on the recent anniversary of her death. She reminds him that the anniversary wasn't because her mother simply died, it was because he killed her. He adds that they reduced his sentence for killing her mother due to his good behavior. He has been looking for Manuela ever since he got out. She is not easy to find since she is not on the social network or uses her real name "Violeta." He found her via her mother's funeral in Matamoros. Her friends were there and there was one very famous friend she had in attendance" Angeles Román." Then from one day to the next, Angeles had a daughter and he found her. Manuela wants to know once and for all what it will take to leave her in peace. He talks about how she doesn't know how he suffered in jail and it is no better out here with nobody wanting to give a decent job to a convicted felon. So, the first thing he is going to ask her for is money. She says she is not rich. He know that but she has rich men around her. If she doesn't pay up, he will open his mouth. She knows what he is talking about. Once everyone knows, her life will be in shambles. She better make up her mind quickly.

Manuela tells her Angeles about her meeting with Heliberto. It is her worst nightmare. He wants money for silence. Manuela is terrified. Angeles tells her to think hard before giving him money because she knows that he will blackmail her over and over again. Manuela doesn't see any other choice. Manuel is afraid of losing her daughter or worse.

Leandro is still pressuring Manuela and Julieta to come live with him with to keep them safe. He tells Manuela to think about who could be threatening them. She tells him she has no idea.

Manuela gets a text from Heliberto telling her that her time is running out.

VENCER LA CULPA Page 3

PALOMA/FRANCO

Paloma and Franco are happy with each other and end up in bed.

Franco wins the competition but has to share the winner's spot with another competitor whose project is very similar to his. Pablo wants they to collaborate. it turns out it is a guy named Joel that Franco knew in university. Franco doesn't look as excited as his long lost acquaintance.

YANELI

Yaneli is frustrated because nothing is happening to the accused teachers at the school. Nobody is paying attention to the accusations. They victims all are female scholarship recipients and come from low income families. She has a new idea: to demonstrate outside the school. She gets all of Edgardo's and the other teachers' victims together and they show up with posters and bull horns to demonstrate outside the school. They get internet coverage via Ariadne López (Vencer el desamor) a feminist journalist who has sent a representative to cover the demonstration. The director of the school has had it will Edgardo and any other teachers who have been accused. He fires them all. He needs to keep the school's good reputation.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Irineo tells Leandro that he can find absolutey no info about Manuela in Matamoros. He will continue looking.

Susana the Elder and Nacho want Enrique to get Amanda to solve their problem with the spa and Desirée and get them off the hook. He tells them it was their own fault for not doing business properly. They are on their own. They are not happy. Amanda tries to intercede with Leandro and he reminds her that Julieta could have died due to Susana's and Nacho's shoddy businsss practices.

Carmina tells Pablito that they need a man like Leandro to take care of them and protect them since his father is busy with
Manuela and Damián and not them. He corrects her and says "Dulce". She prohibits him from talking about Damián in her house.

Pablo feels bad that Dulce doesn't want to have anything to do with him. Manuela says it will take time to repair their relationship. Dulce tells him when her case is all over, she plans on leaving and starting from zero some place else.

Manuela tells Pablo that the person who threatened her and Julieta is not Nico.

Paloma's parents are reading the pamphlets on HIV that Paloma gave them. They understand that science has advanced but they still worry about their daughter but what can they do? They cannot scare him like they did the other suitors. Her father thinks that Franco is hiding something and he ia going to ferret it out all for the health of their daughter. (SURE)

NEW NOVELA NEWS!

"Vivir de amor" will be starting in the early 6:00 p.m. CST slot on Tuesday 2/20/24

I first saw the promo tonight. It looks like it will take place on a rancho with plenty of beautiful people!

VENCER

Jarifa, your recap was expertly written and details deftly defined. Incredible.

Every recent episode has been revelatory; one shock wave after another…

We were led to believe Nico was guilty of attacking Dulce, much to our shock and disbelief. And why would we not immediately accept Dulce’s words? Dulce, clearly the victim, spoke with pain and conviction. But tonight, seeds of doubt have been sown. We saw Nico’s cell was stolen; the “evidence” could clearly have been planted. Nico is lazy, a low life and is a weak and grasping coward. “Nico tells the prosecutor that he is innocent. He would never go out with a trans thing like Dulce”. Exactly! Reprehensible and prejudicial, those words ring with truth! Sometimes, our first impressions are the right ones.

The steely eyed looks Leandro was giving Dulce, seated opposite at the table when signing her statement was truly frightening. At that moment, I thought surely Leandro was her attacker. I kept recalling the scene where Dulce was running away after her fight with Genaro. The hooded figure who caught up with her and threw her in the car was a very strong man. A very violent man.

I don’t believe Leandro was involved in anything that happened with and to “Violeta”. Heliberto confessed he killed Manuela’s mother. Why? I don’t think we know everything that happened with the young Manuela when she was raped by that horrible older man. Could he and Heliberto be connected?

Nora Pardo was with Leandro. Bright warning signs are flashing and sirens are going off loudly.

Yaneli is so strong and brave. Finally, a bit of justice!

Diana

Vivir de Amor

The promo shows Emmanuel Palomares will be the galan...

From what we saw, it appears there is a bit of casting against type as Kimberly Dos Ramos is going to be the protagonist and Gala, the antagonist! Interesting...

Diana

VENCER

Diana, thanks, With every episode this gets more confusing. Dulce under Leandro’s cold observant eye was creepy. Was NicoDulce’s attacker with a little extra evidence on top provided by Leandro or was the whole accusation a sham to clear up Tamara’s problem. Maybe, Leandro was Dulce’s attacker as you first noted. When will we find out what Manuela did? I have my own theory but it could sound like a spoiler if it comes out to be true so I will shut up now about that story line.

Looks like the Yaneli story line ended(?) on a good note.

I am sick of any time given to Paloma’s parents. They are such liars you cannot believe what their true motivation is. Only they know.

That is all for now. It is a busy but fun day!

"MINAS" EPISODE#105:

Weirdo: Assuming you're doing the recap of last night's episode correct ?

Diana: Just couldn't believe Adelia stupidly confronted Smarmy Fidel ALONE at Orlando's restaurant. The Smarmy Scumbag pulled a gun on her threatening to kill her.

Noticed more of Emilia & Sara talking before the surgery.

PS: Addled gets whacked in slow motion by Psycho Roberta, who's hell-bent on destroying everyone.

Waterlily: Got a bad feeling Marijo, Cayetana & Nico will be targeted by Psycho Roberta, Ezquevel & Scumbag Dude.

UA: Sebastian & Miriam getting the happily ever after was slightly interesting.

Darcy: Don't get me started on Joaquina OMG.

Liz: Turtleneck Leo sporting the turtleneck.

Vencer

Jarifa, what a terrific read to start my day with! Every day this gets more intriguing. I can’t imagine what Manuela could have done that would ruin her life if discovered . And Leandro still pressuring her to move in with him. He’s relentless.

I still think Nico is involved with this. But Leandro might be the guy at the top. Guys in prison were threatening Genaro and talked about someone in charge. And someone killed Brayan. It seems like there is a whole gang, but I have no idea what kind of gang it is. We were told Nora died but we don’t know how. And why wouldn’t she want her name mentioned to Amanda?

I guess Helibierto is a whole other story. We know he killed Manuela’s mother, but that’s all.

Nico has been targeted, with the rock through his car window and his stolen cell phone. Maybe I just want him to be guilty because he’s such a creep.

Can’t wait until tonight!

Liz

OT. Diana..."Vivi De Amor" should be interesting. I am currently watching " Vuelve a mi" on Telemundo in which Kim plays her usual very bad girl ( with auburn hair and long hangs this time around).
Susan

Bangs ...not hangs

Vencer #65

Gracias, Jarifa.

Heliberto is a dangerous, world-class creep and Angeles is right. He would blackmail anyone to the brink of suicide. He is too young to have been Manuela's rapist so is he related to that criminal?

Why would Dulce lie about Nico?

Paloma's parents need to disappear. If Paloma doesn't want to have children she has every night not to. She has to worry about them trying to sabotage her relationship with Franco and/or her career. Her best move now is to move, preferably to Europe.

Vivir

Emmanuel Palomares was the Romeo in Perdona Nuestros Pecados.

Kimberly dos Ramos played an ethical lawyer in Season 2 of Por Amar Sin Ley..

Other cast members include Rene Strickler, Eugenia Cauduro, Magda Karina, Eric del Castillo, and Diego Covarrubias.

Minas de Pasión, Capítulo 105, Jueves, 1 de febrero, 2023

Our heroes make some stupid choices... and our baddies appear to be emerging victorious - Part 1/2

Rob asks Addled how he could this to her, after everything she's done for him, including financing his campaign. Yeah, because Addled is known for being grateful. Addled is just about to shoot her when Ezequiel and his dudes pop up and shoot Addled! Oh well, I was expecting Roberta to survive, but hope dies last... Rob smiles.

The doctor informs everyone that Dan's liver isn't compatible. Dan is devastated. Emilia enters, already wearing the clothes for the operation and says she'll donate her liver to save Sara. I mean, come on. Goodness has its limits. Sara cries and thanks Emi. Romi tells her mom she misses her. They take Sara away and Emi is thanked by Dan and Gigí also. Leo asks Em if she's sure she wants to do this for someone who might betray her. They share a kiss.

Tigre asks Zaira if she likes Marat. Zaira looks at him with a "bruh" look on her face and says he stopped being able to ask her things about her life a while ago. FF-->

Míriam and Sebas arrive home. Aleida is also there and talks about Fidel. Míriam says she'll talk to Em about something I didn't catch and Sebas thanks her for doing so much for him. Sure, if we count putting him in trouble...

Meanwhile, the news about Emilia giving her liver to save Sara have reached Tigre and all the fam. What is this, highschool? They're confused about Emi's motive. Mar says she has a big heart.

Jenny is sceptical about Orlando becoming head of the police again. Because he didn't realise drugs were being sold in his restaurant for like, 3 years? Noooo, something about Addled. The police woman, who is apparently called Cata, calls Orlando and tells him to come to the precinct.

Addled reminds Ezequiel about helping him become a police officer. Ezequiel is loyal to Roberta, though. I guess he didn't have Emilia's spirit haunt his house, as he originally thought. Anyway. He asks Rob what to do with him. Rob gets a gun out and asks Addled to kneel down and beg her. He does and she shoot him anyway. Addled appears pretty dead to me.

The doctors are kind enough to let Emi and Sara talk some minutes before the operation. Yeah, no. Wouldn't happen in real life. Sara asks forgiveness from Emilia. Emi says she'll forgive her if she promises she'll become a better person and she'll stop making more "mistakes". The quotation marks were my addition. Sara promises that to Em.

Joaquina tells Leo about the reason Roberta faked him being her son; her first husband's inheritance.

Roberta tells Ezequiel she won't tolerate not being obeyed. Yeah, you think?

Aleida, for whatever stupid reason, decides she should confront Fidel ALONE, in ORLANDO'S RESTAURANT. She shows him a paper that pretty much says Fidel will be kicked out of his position. Fidel, who was already pissed off at Orlando re-becoming head of the police, grabs Aleida and points a gun to her head. I just love the fact that all the baddies carry guns with them everywhere they go. I bet they carry them even to go grocery shopping.

Zaira and Gigí talk about praying when Marat arrives with a cup of coffee. Zaira tells him that she's not interested, kinda, in a polite way. Why, Zairaaa?

The operation on the two women is being performed.

Joaquina and Leo talk some more about Roberta. Jo tells Leo about Rob threatening her to lie about killing Ignacio.

Gael proposes to Mar. He knows he can't give her riches but he can give her a loving house to fulfill their dreams together. Mar's wide smile is an obvious indicator to her answer.

Minas de Pasión, Capítulo 105, Jueves, 1 de febrero, 2023

Our heroes make some stupid choices... and our baddies appear to be emerging victorious - Part 2/2

Rob is in some sort of office and is watching everything from the security cameras. Who the heck has security cameras IN their home?

Emilia wakes up, with Leonardo at her side. She asks about Nico. He's with Mar and Cayetana. Leo gets a call from the precinct, informing him Roberta has managed to escape. He tells Emilia and Sebas, who has joined the conversation.

Mar tells Cayetana not to call her "jefa", "boss", she's not like Roberta. Nico shows them a drawing he made of the Virgin Mary. Leo calls Mar and tells her he'll come to pick them up. Mar tells him they're in their home.

Meanwhile, Rob is watching this from her security cameras with Ezequiel and the bad miner, her gang. She laughs, drinks champagne and says she likes this game. Okay, now. Where did she get the champagne from? Does she carry it around alongside her gun? Oh and she tells them about her revenge plan, but warns them not to do anything to Nico.

Gael has somehow teleported to the hospital. Leo tells him about Rob escaping and that he's going for Mar, Nico and Cayetana. Gael tells Tigre about Roberta.

Sebastián informs Joaquina about Roberta escaping.

Leo goes to the house. The gals have taken precautions for Rob's possible arrival. Leo tells them (+Nico) that he'll take them to Tigre's house.

Joaquina receives a mysterious phone call (that is obviously from Roberta).

In the last scene of the episode, Joaquina uses the same teleportation device and meets up with Roberta... Somewhere. Rob proposes a deal to Joaquina; if she wants her to leave Leo alone, she has to give her own life! Which of course would have been avoided if Joaquina HADN'T picked up the stupid call/teleported to the location!

And with Joaquina facing a dilemma, we have the Fin del Capítulo...

Minas

Thanks Weirdo, loved your personal view of events. Yes, characters are teleporting to get places. Do the writers forget where they last were? Or maybe they don’t believe in, Bye now, I’m heading wherever.

Roberta will be with us till the bitter end I fear. I think she and her sidekicks are in a room in the house. That no one knows about!

Stupid choices is right. Why go meet the bad guy when you’re by yourself. And since you’re a good guy you don’t have a gun.

Emilia is too good to be true. Giving a body part to someone that took the person you love and treated your son like dirt.

So was Roberta’s first husband Leo’s real dad. Or did she tell him that so he’d marry her? I remember something about Roberta and Joaquina loving the same man. Although love might be an oxymoron with Roberta. I had assumed Leo’s dad had paid for sex since that was the service the sisters provided.

Ready for the ending. Hope the people I like survive!

VIDA Ep. 14

I’ve only watched half of the episode, but here are some observations—

There’s a heart wrenching scene in the beginning. Paula pleads with Rol to stop. She cries as she gets out and runs up to the cliff where she quickly stops and sobs saying that she doesn’t want her children to watch her die.

Lucia and Andrea quickly run up to Reni who is passed out…but still alive 😏 They call Emil who gets there in a flash. Before we can blink, Reni is in a neck brace and working her pity card as she tells Emil that she wants to go see Lucia to thank her for what she did.

Rafa insists on knowing why Isabel doesn’t want him to work with Lor, but she convinces him to do as she says simply because she is his mother.

The doctor tells Paula that she will start losing her sight and she will have more problems seeing if she gets up quickly. He can’t say of the tuna or has grown until he gets the results of the new tests.

Paula arrives home to find a tipsy drunk Lor who confesses that he has a son…Rafael! She tries to give him coffee but he sneaks away to go get the truth! She follows him in the food truck where she has to stop for a few seconds because of her vision.

Pepe is pleading with Isabel to tel him why she is so against Rafa working with Lor. They are interrupted by Lor, followed by Paula. Lor asks the million dollar question—is Rafa my son?! And what transpires afterwards made no sense to me. Isabel has been adamantly denying that Rafa is her son every time Lor has asked when they have been alone. Here we have Paula and Pepe present and Isabel finally admits that Rafa is Lor’s son! WT??

Minas #105

Thanks, Weirdo.

I guess Roberta thought that Addled was just like her. He may have benefitted from their association but Roberta put Sara in hospital fighting for her life. People like Roberta can't even understand parents who have any feeling at all for their children.

Whose home was that? To answer your probably rhetorical question, Roberta would have spy cameras all around.

Still time left for another safety crisis for the good guys.

VIDA - #14

RgvChick - thank you for the recap of the first half.

In true telenovela fashion, neither Lucia nor Andrea called for an ambulance. And we know those girls have cell phones. Emiliano probably took her to the doctor in the food truck. Spinal injuries? Nah, it's telenovela land. And now we have Renata wearing the mandatory telenovela neck brace.

The cara de impactada look on Pepe's face is priceless when Rafa's paternity is outed. Reminded me of those comic faces characters made in the SNL skits "The Californians."

And Lorenzo .... la llamada de la sangre!!! He just knew Rafa is his son!!! (I'm having so much fun with this telenovela...can y'all tell?)

Lorenzo was on his third(?) bottle of wine when he told Paula about Rafa. It's amazing he made it to Isabela's in his state.

Also, Lorenzo is going to become active again on the board of Paula's company. Natalia isn't thrilled about that. Maybe Lorenzo will sniff out the irregularities Natalia has made, once he is there.

Once Rafa's paternity becomes public knowledge, MALena will probably change her mind about pairing up with the new heir.

MINAS

Outstanding Weirdo! You captured everything in very fine fashion. Great title.

Yet another cliffhanger that you made bearable with your wry wit. “Míriam says she'll talk to Em about something I didn't catch and Sebas thanks her for doing so much for him. Sure, if we count putting him in trouble... “ and “Jenny is skeptical about Orlando becoming head of the police again. Because he didn't realize drugs were being sold in his restaurant for like, 3 years?” had me laughing away; you captured the essence of these dilemmas perfectly.

Leo and Emilia were just so…tepid. The few embers that were somewhat glowing are now cold and dark.

Zaira calling Tigre “Julian Sanchez” made me smile. I think he said delicious at one point and I wondered if he was referring to what she was chopping up or Zaira herself? Zaira continues to be unimpressed. Tigre should be groveling over broken glass, begging her forgiveness.

The forces of good are just not thinking. I couldn’t believe Aleida would put herself in so much danger. Joaquina should have been given round-the-clock protection as should Nico. Finally, they should have banded together to come up with a PLAN. Something they have failed to do this entire novela.

I’m glad Sara survived and give Emilia credit for her amazing generosity.

I hope someone snaps Marat up.

Diana

OT

A little silliness for all of us living in cold climates. I witnessed Woodstock Willie, the legendary groundhog (seer of seers, prognosticator of prognosticators) of Woodstock Illinois (where the movie was filmed ) emerge shortly after 7:00 a.m. and declare he did not see his shadow! An early spring! Happy Groundhog Day to all!

VIDA

Rgv Chick, you capture the essence of love and pain with such perfect emotion.

“There’s a heart wrenching scene in the beginning. Paula pleads with Rol to stop. She cries as she gets out and runs up to the cliff where she quickly stops and sobs saying that she doesn’t want her children to watch her die” was so impactful, her pure pain, palpable.

In addition to all the physical pain and problems she is enduring, symptoms worsening add another level of torture; “the doctor tells Paula that she will start losing her sight and she will have more problems seeing if she gets up quickly” (OMG). Add the agonizing emotional torment she is experiencing makes this almost unbearable.

I think we were all shocked that Isabel chose such a time and place to finally reveal the truth. I would imagine it is primarily a plot device to nudge Pepe and Paula together. Hmmm, it seems to be already working 😊

Diana

VIDA Ep. 14 (2nd half)

Rafa gives MAL money for the baby. MAL has a fit and a half when Rafa tells her that Lucia saw them.

Pepe is in anguish; he always thought his parent’s marriage was perfect
And it was all a lie! His world is falling apart . Nice hug from Paula.

MAL calls Lucia and asks her to come over that night.

Isabel pleads that if Lor ever felt anything for her to please stay away from her family.

Rol feels bad about marrying Paula under these circumstances. He won’t be able to stand watching Paula suffer or the idea of taking care of her. Natalia needs 2 million pesos to pay off her credit cards. Rol reminds her she has not paid back what he lent her months back. Natalia threatens Rol once again with the recording she supposedly made. She describes how she was about out that she will yell out that she knows why Rol and Paula shouldn’t marry on their wedding day.

Paula can’t believe that her father was unfaithful to her mother. Pepe feels the same way…and he is at a loss for ideas about what they should do. Pepe worries about what his father and his children will say. Paula suggests that he let Isabel decide when she will tell the family. Paula offers to help; Pepe can count on her when he needs to talk to someone. Together they will figure out how to handle the situation.

VIDA

Doris one of the many reasons I so enjoy your recaps is your sharp, analytical ability.

“Once Rafa's paternity becomes public knowledge, MALena will probably change her mind about pairing up with the new heir” makes perfect sense. That never dawned on me but I think you are once again ahead of the curve.

“The cara de impactada look on Pepe's face is priceless when Rafa's paternity is outed. Reminded me of those comic faces characters made in the SNL skits "The Californians" had me smiling and nodding in agreement.

Ren is clearly cray cray. When she leaned in to Lucia, no “I’m sorry” emanated from her lips, she was clearly warning her off.

Well, one huge secret is somewhat out in the open. More repercussions are sure to follow! 😊

Diana

VENCER

Liz, "Every day this gets more intriguing." you can say that again. "I still think Nico is involved with this. But Leandro might be the guy at the top. Guys in prison were threatening Genaro and talked about someone in charge. And someone killed Brayan. It seems like there is a whole gang, but I have no idea what kind of gang it is. We were told Nora died but we don’t know how. And why wouldn’t she want her name mentioned to Amanda?" Will there be even more questions after tonight? Most likely!!!

Urban,as for Heriberto, "He is too young to have been Manuela's rapist so is he related to that criminal?" That is my thought. "Why wold Dulce lie about Nico?" Maybe she would if Leandro is running the show and he told her to? She always seems to get nervous whenever Leandro is mentioned and in his presence, she watches him closely for his reactions.

VIDA

Thank you for Part 2 Rgv Chick!

So now that she has spilled the tea, Isabel warns Lor off. Does she really believe he is going to back off NOW? Once the truth is out in the universe, it cannot be hidden or stifled.

Thank you for explaining Paula and Pepe's conversation, which I did not understand. Paula is so sweet and caring and her bonding with Pepe over the startling revelation seems natural and real.

Diana

VIDA

Thank you RgvChick for Part 2! ♥

Diana - Isa was not going to get out of that corner she was backed into and she knew she was trapped. How long before Alex finds out? Because we know he will.

Paula has no business operating a motor vehicle now that her vision is going. Yikes.

When Renata thanked Lucía, she whispered "stupid" into Lucy's ear. The actress will have a good career as a telenovela villana.

Minas
Thanks, weirdo.
I had no didea Roberta registered Leo as her son due to inheritance. My video must have got cut.
Did they really have to push the donation angle? What's the point? Or does this mean that according to the writers you haven't forgiven until you've donated all your healthy organs to your ex-enemy? But like I said, they did the same with Jen giving Miriam a job, which meant jen was 'a good person.' Speaking of Miriam, when she said Aleida's name, her tone was so weird that I was like 'is there something I'm missing?' She sounded like those mean teenagers from telenovelas. She wasn't at all happy Sebas wanted to go and see Emilia, but then she said in a 'see how noble I am' tone that she loves him so much she will wait. Does anyone remember what her expression was once Sebas left?
Roberta sent one of her gang members to get her champagne from the basement. She also called Leo 'very basic' when they asked her if no one will realise where she's hiding, which made me wonder how long it will take for him to realise there was a hiding place.
So in the end even Sara and Miriam get a happy ending. Miriam- without even doing anything
But they shouldn't have pushed you have to forgive your enemies message so hard. I just got irritated. They even talked about how God has given us two kidneys so we could share them.
Leo asked Joaquina why she didn't tell him he didn't kill his father and she responded Roberta would have sent her to prison if she had. So now they'll kill her off because she said she'd give her life in exchange for her son's forgiveness. If this is because she didn't protect her child the way a mother should, what about Sara using Romina to keep Leo with her? Unless Joaquina will survive too.

Thanks, Jarifa. I'm thinking of that Temptation's song "Ball of Confusion." I was totally discombobulated last night, but you brought the clarity I needed.

Seems to me Manuela was too young when whatever happened happened to be held responsible. After all she's been through and the sage counsel she's given others I sure hope she doesn't agree to blackmail. This guy would haunt her and Julieta the rest of her life.

Interesting that Nico's phone was stolen before all of this and that he got it back. Honestly I don't know what to think.

I think Paloma wants kids because she brought it up to Franco on her own earlier. Her HIV knowledge gathering will no doubt include how to do it while protecting herself and a fetus. Of course understandable that she doesn't want to go there yet with her parents.

Ay, Dulce. Stay with your dad. Girl, you need him more than ever after all you've been through.

I just looked it up: Paloma can either take the same drugs as Franco until she conceives or they can have IVF. However, this may be illegal in some states.

When the hell will there be a cure for and a vaccine against this deadly thing?

Vida

Thanks Rgv Chick, I enjoyed your recap. Along with everyone else, I’m shocked Isabel tells a not very sober Lorenzo the truth in front of Paula and Pepe. And it seems Lorenzo wants it to be common knowledge. I hope it’s because he’s been drinking, otherwise he is not the person I thought he was. There must be some story behind why they both cheated on their spouses. I liked Paula and Pepe comforting each other.

So Renata put on a big act of thanking Lucia to impress Emiliano. But she really still feels the same way toward her And he will soon be back with her. Or at least taking care of her. I’m thinking he seems to be a little bit like Rolando. Each have one nice girl and one bad one, and they’ll string them both along.

How is Isabel’s marriage going to hold up?

Liz

Niecie, I absolutely loved your “Ball of Confusion” reference. Things have gotten really complicated in this novela which I never expected and, believe me, I am glad I can rewind OnDemand. “Honestly, I don’t know what to think “ about most of what is going on.

Urban, thanks for the info on HIV and pregnancy!

Jarifa, I am late to the party again ...busy day . I appreciate your recaps so much . I would be lost without them . I am trying to keep up with a couple telenovelas right now , so I have a lot of characters and storylines swirling around in my head.

I, too, noticed Dulce watching Leondro cautiously at that meeting. Oh my, the mysterious girl was one of his amantes. I am sure that Leondro is the big boss of this mysterious mess , but dim Nick is probably involved at a lower tier.

I have no idea what is going on with Heli and Manuela's past . I am clueless .
Susan

Minas

Weirdo , thanks for an excellent account of our story as we work our way out of the mine and onto the finale .

Waterlily, thanks for all the extra details .

Nick drew a beautiful picture of the Virgin , and then we saw the Virgin in the chapel with Jo. Who will the Virgin save ?

I think Sebas is what the girls today refer to as a " babygirl"....A good hearted, sensitive guy." Well, he's with Miriam, which is disappointing , but at least he may be alive at the finale .
Susan

VENCER

Susan, glad the recaps help. Yes, Dulce watches him so closely, I hate to say it, like her life depends on his reaction. I, too, think Leandro is running the show but have no idea of how or why. These episodes have been jam-packed as of late.

VIDA

Doris, thank you for reminding me it was "stupid" that Renata whispered. I couldn't remember the exact word, but of course you did. :)

When I first saw the promos for the show, Ren was featured prominently. I assumed (wrongly) that she was going to play Susana's daughter, they do look a bit alike. Great casting I thought. I wish she were a bit more more subtle as she has already revealed herself at bat sh** crazy.

Thanks to everyone for your comments!

Liz, "Roberta will be with us till the bitter end I fear. I think she and her sidekicks are in a room in the house. That no one knows about!" Thank you for the clarification! That did seem like a room in a house. And yes, I think she'll be the last to fall; she is La Patrona after all, right? ;)

ITA with Emilia being too good to be true. No one would gift their body parts to their ex-enemies, no matter how good they are.

Urban, I agree about Roberta thinking this way. And you're right, she'd have spy cameras all around. Rephrasing my question: which SANE person has cameras all around their house?

Diana, thank you for your kind words! "Tepid" is getting added to my vocabulary ;) ITA about the good guys "they should have banded together to come up with a PLAN. Something they have failed to do this entire novela". Spot on!

My video must have be cut or something, because I didn't see any scenes with Sara after the operation. Thank you for adding that!

"Tigre should be groveling over broken glass, begging her forgiveness." Oh so true! Zaira has put up so much with him.

Waterlily, ITA with your whole comment. I started copy-pasting stuff and I realised it was almost the whole comment, so I'll only copy-paste this: "But they shouldn't have pushed you have to forgive your enemies message so hard. I just got irritated. They even talked about how God has given us two kidneys so we could share them." Huh? I didn't hear that part, thankfully. Thanks for adding it! I'm also getting irritated by all the forgiveness nonsense we're getting in this show.

IIRC, RGVChick's email in on her profile information. The profile, at least on mobile, is shown when you click the name of the poster. It'll be blue if there is one. :)

Susan, Sebas being with Míriam is indeed disappointing. Here's hoping for the bare minimum, that he's alive at the Gran Final.

Smarmy Fidel tries choking his own son when we see Adelia packing heat again by pointing her gun at the back of Smarmy Fidel's head.

Over at the San Lorenzo Metropolitan Police Department: We see Smarmy Fidel in handcuffs & arrested as he's dragged away bu other police officers while Adelia & Orlando watch. We see Turtleneck Leo show up to get the scoop.

VIDA - #15

Notas del armchair --- from memory only...in no particular order of events...

-- Beso interruptus between Paula & Pepe...someone walked up, maybe Alex, I don't remember nor care. Anyway, they were both going in with the deep dive but didn't land.

-- Alex continues to tell Pepe that he should work on his marriage and stay with MAL for the sake of the kids, if nothing else. Pep probably will. (ha! if Alex only knew)

-- Isabela gave her 38-year old son The Hulk permission to work part-time for Lorenzo, after Lor told her what her options were.

-- MAL is all syrupy with her kids spending the night. Lucía sees right through her BS and tells her so. Tons of pizza for the three of them---one X-tra Large and two larges.

-- Paula finds out from Lorenzo that even though he loved his wife Julieta (her mother), well, Isabela is the love of his live once he met her. Later on, Isabela tells Gracia the same thing about Alex. Those two might. not. be. done.

-- Question -- I thought Alex went to Italy to pursue his music career, per an earlier episode, and last night Isabela said Spain. QTH??? Did I misunderstand? Llego desquiciado por las telenvoelas? Beanie hat time?

MINAS

Weirdo, I replied to both of you. I'm afraid I can't be of much help.

Diana

Vida

Thanks Doris for your armchair notes. I thought Lorenzo also left to pursue music! But maybe he just left. That was something that was said before I knew who was who!

I have a feeling Alex is going to convince Pepe to stay with Mal. I’m not sure if he knows Rafa isn’t his, but either I read or heard that he knew. So he’d be fine with Pepe raising someone else’s baby.
And she’ll get to pass off the baby as his. That should make Rafa mad. I wish he’d leave his hat at home.

Did Pepe see Rolando and Paula kiss when they picked up the motorcycle. Well, Rolando was doing the kissing.

I’m glad Lucia told Emiliano that the girlfriend wasn’t nice. But I bet he’ll stay with her while he promises Lucia he loves her. Kind of like Rolando with Paula and Natalia.

Not sure why Rafa has to do what his parents say at age 38!

Liz

VIDA

Doris, thanks for the wry and wonderful recap.

"Isabela gave her 38-year old son The Hulk permission to work part-time for Lorenzo" had me belly laughing. "The Hulk" indeed. Although to be fair, Bruce Banner had a clue. Rafa, sadly does not.

I was shaking my head in disbelief at the three large pizzas. I bet MAL never took a bite - that taut midriff does not come naturally. I imagine thick, greasy, gooey cheese is probably something she never indulges in. Shame. 😊

Isa and Lorenzo aren't done by a long shot. Alex is very suspicious and he should be. He has a clue but can't prove anything. Yet. I didn't think he knew Rafa was Lorenzo's (?)

Susana is so good here (as she always is)...

Diana

VIDA

Liz & Diana - there was some sort of comment in this episode, something about Alex already knowing about Rafa, but my Spanish isn't good enough. Because Isabela is still freaking out about keeping this a secret, I figured I misunderstood. RgvChick is more fluent and hopefully will weigh in.

Vida

Doris, thanks for the armchair recap . It is so fun to be watching a telenovela with you again. I definitely need my beanie for this one . I am mostly staying with it for Susana and Juan and the patio . Both the Hulk and Pepe have no appeal for me .

Congratulations , Lorenzo, you are the father of a bouncing baby hulk. Be careful what you wish for .

I think MAL could actually kick Rafa's ***. It was funny watching her intimidate him as she advanced toward him and he fell backwards . wow. This guy lives to be humiliated by this woman.

I have noticed that the wardrobe department has given several of these characters a " thing." Hulk has that d*** beanie . Lorenzo has those preppy scarves . Diego has his bucket hats . MAL has her sport bras and puffer vests (?) Laura Flores ( what is her character's name?) Has her various and sundry headbands .

Does Renata live at Susana's house? Does she ever go home? Susan

vida
I wanted to laugh when Isabela told Lorenzzo he had to distance himself from Rafael. Who would just immediately leave after learning they had a child? Why does she have this belief people will just comply and do what she said?'you're forbidden to work for him because I said so.'
It feels as if Lorenzo thinks his infidelity is justified because he fell in love. The way he said 'me enamore' sounded a bit like the stuff to which you react with 'isn't it obvious' response.
I wish someone told Alex Malena will have a child from another man. I wonder if he'd defend her even then because while I might believe he'd actually think her affair is something his son might forgive, I doubt he could fake a speech about raising another man's child. I'm not even sure about the former because his and Isabela's situation seemed more like separation. What makes me angry is that he puts his own jealousy and insecurities first because I see no other reason for him to insist so much Pepe forgive Malena. It's interesting that 40 years didn't convince him his wife loves him. He is just as unreliable as Lorenzo, though, if he abandoned his family to pursue a music career and then all of a sudden changed his mind. Why didn't they come with him?
How is Emiliano a good guy if he is going to string those two along? If he really does that,Pepe will end up being the only galan.Rolando has two women too so the only thing that will separate them will be Emiliano not being a killer and a thief (if Rolando getsPaula's inheritance). That's a low bar. I do hope Emiliano doesn't choose to deceive them, but as it's the 'flawed galan' trend, I won't be too hopeful.

VENCER LA CULPA #66 Part 1

What an episode!

THE MAIN EVENT

Dulce continues to tell Pablo about her life when she was no longer living in his house. Dulce admits it was terrible being run out of her home but noting compared to what she suffered here in Mexico City. First there was the loneliness being far away from her home and family, She lived in a rooftop room for a while and became friends with a person called El Muñeca. Being around her, she discovered who she herself really was: a transgender woman. Seeing what El Muñeca had suffered, she knew exactly what to expect: violence, discrimination, and rejection. El Muñeca was the only person who she could trust and then she died. She got to the point of thinking that dying also might be the best thing that could happen to her. Pablo tells her not to say that. Dulce continues.

In order to get herself out of the hole she felt she was in, she got a job. There she met the best person to whom she owns everything she is today: Nora Pardo. She was washing floors in a beauty salon that rich people frequented. Nora was a great friend. Without her, she would have lost a lot of time. We see a flashback of Nora joking with with and encouraging Dulce. At first there was no response but then Dulce apologized for being like she was. The fact was that nobody talked to her. Nora said that she and Dulce were the same. Nora preferred to be strange and different. Dulce said she didn't understand what she was saying. Nora said she knows that Dulce was different. She recognized a girl and not a boy behind those glasses. Nora said that she would be safe with her because she didn't judge but respected others. She could help her. In tears, Nora told her that she once had a sister, who before was her brother, who ended up dying violently. She started to smile saying that they were not there to be sad because from now on the two of them were sisters. They hugged. Dulce adds that Nora understood her like nobody in her life had. She never judged her but she respected her and helped with everything. Nora was not a transgender woman, just someone without prejudices. Dulce has no idea of what wold have happened to her without Nora.

What hurts Dulce the most is that she couldn't be there for Nora when she needed her the most. We see Dulce remembering and noticing that Nora had a black eye that she got from "almost tripping over something." Dulce told her not to lie and asked if she had a fight with her novio. Nora started to cry and said no she didn't have a fight. It was only a scare. Pablo asks what she means about not being there for Nora when she needed her. Dulce makes light of it and tells Pablo that Nora never let her know what was going on in her own life.

Pablo mentions that Nora ended up claiming Brayan's body. Dulce says says that was not possible because Nora was dead by that time. She thinks it might have been somebody who pretended to be her or an accomplice of her attacker, that miserable person who has hurt so many people. Pablo asks her to come live with him again so he can protect her. Dulce says she will have to think about it. Dulce decides it is time for her to go because she is being transported back to the shelter. Pablo kisses her on the forehead and she leaves.

VENCER Part 2

At his office, Leandro is having a conversation with Irineo. He explains that he is not worried about Dulce because he has her perfectly under control so that she will never talk. Irineo says that is because Leandro knew just when to act. Leandro answers that is because she, he, or whatever it is, didn't know that her old boyfriend was going to lead him right to her. We see Yaneli and Genaro at the Center going to visit Dulce while Irineo was in the hallway overhearing their conversation with the staff. Leandro texted Irineo to get the package to Dulce. Irineo brought the envelope with the phone inside to the receptionist. He told her it was for Dulce and was from her father. It was urgent that she get the package as soon as she could. The receptionist later gave the package to Dulce saying it was from her father. Dulce thought it was strange that he didn't give it to her when she left the hospital. She found the phone and called. It was not her father on the other end . it was Irineo talking on behalf of THE BOSS. They knew she was at the center. He told her she was just about to die and she broke free once, but could she be that lucky twice??? Who knows??? Dulce asked why they were doing this to her. Irineo said it was nothing personal. They did not only set their sight set on her but on her little brother Pablito. She told him to please not touch her brother. That depended on her. If she behaved well and kept her snout shut, it would all be fine but if she said anything that involved THE BOSS, her brother or father would pay and pay big time. She begged them not to do anything to her brother and father. . Irineo said all she had to do was to keep quiet and to keep the phone because it was a gift from THE BOSS. The phone was also encoded so messages to or from it could not be traced. Dulce reminded him that the police were waiting for her statement. Irineo said that she would be naming somebody as her attacker: one Nico Alcaraz. Irineo would be dictating word for word for ward what she was supposed to say.

Irineo asks if Dulce had all of the information that they were looking for from Nora. Sipping his cognac, Leandro says he thought she did and she got a good beating that almost killed her but she said nothing. He doubted that she would be so brave as to be beaten to death before talking so it was obvious to him that she doesn't know anything. Irineo asks if Nora took her secret to the grave. Leandro answers saying that is the way it seems. That being said, Leandro wants Dulce to be watched. He isn't about to let her get out of control. Irineo asks about Nico. Leandro thinks that with Dulce's statement, everyone is going to end up outwitted and Nico is going to have to pay. Leandro makes a point of telling Irineo that is why you always have to have somebody available that you can blame. He smirks and tells Irineo to watch out.

VENCER Part 3

Leandro asks Irineo how the Jesús Oviedo and Mrs. Torres case is going. Irineo say it will be very easy getting statements from them. Their blackmail worked very well. Leandro corrects him. They do not do "blackmail." They "advise". They "help people to decide." Irineo adds, of course, just like they did with Dulce. Leandro believes that people understand each other through talking. For that reason he would like to visit with Dulce to thank her for having cooperated with them. Without knowing it, she saved Genaro. Irineo tries to make a smart *ss comment and it falls flat.

Manuela, Paloma, Yaneli and Paloma discuss the fact that Dulce named Nico as her attacker. Amanda feels bad that Dulce's attacker was somebody from her family. Yaneli and the others tell her there is no reason for that. The important thing is that Dulce is being taken care of. Amanda still cannot get her head around Dulce being with Nico but they all agree that you have to to believe the victim.

Vicky tells Dulce that she can stay at the center as long as she wants to wants to while she decides how she is going to organize her life from here on. It is all sunshine and happiness until Dulce's cellphone rings. Vicky tells her how nice it was of her father to get her that cellphone. Dulce answers and asks Leandro what he wants. He only wants to thank he for her cooperation. She did very well keeping her mouth shut. He hopes she continues keeping it shut because if she doesn't, this time he will make sure that she and a family member end up six feet under. In tears she swears she will say nothing. That is what Leandro likes to hear. He likes it when she is following his orders. He then insists that she thank him because her attacker is now a prisoner. As she cries, he becomes incensed and starts to shout. Doesn't she hear him? She has to thank him!!! She says thank you. He goes on to say that she will continue doing what he says. Does she understand? She only wants to be left alone and to forget him. He has already hurt her so badly. Leandro answers that is not going to happen until he is sure she isn't going to open her mouth. Then she can go wherever she wants. If she talks, Pablo and the adorable Pablito will pay for her mistakes.

Leandro discusses with Irineo that Angeles was born and raised until, her teenage years, in Matamoros and spent the rest of her life in Mexico City. He needs to know the dates that Manuela was in Matamoros. Irineo says that is a problem. He can find no record of Manuela anywhere. Leandro concludes that Manuela must have had a different name . He wants Irineo to go back and investigate again.

FRANCO

Franco is in no rush to renew his friendship with Joel even though he is going to have to work with him for Pablo's company. It turns out that they were once best friends and then Franco just quit communicating. He even blocked Joel. Franco makes up a tale about somebody having stolen his phone and having lost his passwords. Joel asks if he did something to him. Franco says when he left the university, he wasn't doing well. He was in therapy and what he might have discovered is that it is very healthy to just start from zero, start fresh but now they are here and athey re going to have to work together. Joel reminds him that is a professional association. He asks Franco for his cellphone number.

Franco tells Paloma that he is disappointed that he has to work with somebody else on combining their projects. Joel calls just as Paloma asks him what the problem is having to work with somebody else. Franco sees the call is from Joel and lies saying that the bank is calling. They decide to ignore it and celebrate instead.

VENCER Part 4

Franco is in the shower. He gets a call from Joel. Paloma answers and chats with him. She finds out that Joel and Franco were great friends back at the university. She takes it upon herself herself to schedule a supper with Joel, Franco and her. When Franco gets out of the shower, she tells him about the call and asks why he didn't tell her that teh person he has to collaborate with was his best friend back at the university.

Franco explains that when he got HIV, he didn't want Joel to know and judge him. Paloma thinks that he would have underrstood him being such a good friend. Franco is happy like he is. SHE thinks he should try to get back with his old friends so with the best of intentions, SHE has made a date for them to have supper with Joel. Franco is not pleased that she has gone and made decisions for him. If he decided to break off contact with Joel, it was for a good reason. Paloma says she did it to help. (SURE)

Paloma tells Tolita what she did to Franco. Tolita reminds her that "The way to hell is paved with good intentions." Paloma admits to Franco that she made a mistake and apologizes. He is over being angry. He thanks her for taking care of him.

They end up at dinner with Joel and his wife Cecilia!! She also used to hang out with Franco and Joel when they were at the university. It turns out that she still has the hots for Franco. He pushes her away. She is the person who gave him HIV. He is with Paloma now. Cecilia is asking that Franco keep her secret that she is zero positive for HIV. Joel doesn't know.

MANUELA

Pablo comes to see Manuela and Julieta is nice to him even welcoming him to their home. He is hopeful that someday soon he and Pablo and her . . . She stops him. He thinks it is good to have a wish for the future. She smiles. They kiss.

Amanda asks Manuela why she never told her that she and Julieta were being followed. Manuela answers that Leandro was handling their security and she thought he would have told her. Amanda think it is good to have a man to defend you. Paloma thinks it is horrible having to have a man to protect your from other men??? Paloma doesn't know what kind of country they are living in. Yaneli thinks it is one in which the jerks act with impunity and get their own way. Paloma adds this is a place where a woman cannot do her work without any old guy threatening and harassing her. Amanda says not all men are like that. Look at her son Leandro for example. Manuela gives her the stink eye that she doesn't see.

Amanda tells Angeles she is going to give Heliberto the money and she hopes to never see him again. Angeles suggest she tell Pablo and see if he can help her. Manuela doesn't want to tell anyone about her past. Aneles warns her that the blackmail will never stop. Manuela doesn't known what else to do.

Manuela gives Heliberto the money he asked for at the same park (there still is almost nobody there). She tells him to take the money and leave. He asks if she thinks such a small amount of money will buy his silence. She says it is all she has. He tells her she can have her peace but it will only be for a few days. He warns her about saying anything to anyone. She has no idea what he is capable of. He leaves. irineo has been recording their visit. Heliberto sneaks up behind Irineo. Irineo starts to send a text to Leandro when Heriberto grabs him around the neck from behind. He asks if he is texting his BOSS. He tells irineo to tell "el güero" "the light haired one" that he isn't the only smart guy around. He knows perfectly who they are. Heliberto frees him and leaves.

VENCER Part 5

CARMINA

Pablo calls Pablito in the evening to stop by to see him. He tells him it is too late. He needs his sleep. Pablo says he will see him tomorrow. Pablito asks his mother why she had him say that to his father. He wanted to see him. He feels bad because he knows what he said will make his father feel bad. Carmina says at her house he will do what she tells him to do and to stop talking back to her. Pabiito argues that he is only telling the truth. He also wants to see his sister Dulce. Carmina tells him to shut up. He is not to call his brother "Dulce". They will no be spending any time together. You cannot put a wig on and call yourself a woman. She and his aunt Nancy are women. Pablito asks her why did she once dress him up in girls' clothing as a joke on Damián. Carmina "looks" shocked. She has no idea what he is talking about. Doesn't he see how he confuses everything? He must have dreamt it. It never happened.

Leandro pays Carmina a visit. He brings his buddy Pablito some food to get hmi healthy and strong. He invites him and Carmina out to eat and for a tour of his office tomorrow. That way Pablito will know if he wants to be a great lawyer like him.

TAMARA

Tamara pays Nico a visit in jail. She is planning on never seeing him again. What he did is unforgivable. He insists that he is innocent and is incapable of doing what they have accused him of. She talks to her mom Amanda who asks her to not be manipulated by Nico. Tamara is still working on getting back to better times with her kids. She has found an apartment for her and her children.

ENRIQUE

??? Amanda and Enrique have a conversation about herpes zoster???? What did we miss??? A shingles commercial???

Nacho and Susana the Elder meet with Leandro who tells them that he has nothing against them personally but it is clearly a case of negligence. His daughter could have died. They have two choices. They can agree to cover the medical and psychological counseling costs for Julieta in an independent agreement outside the court or they can go to court and end up paying the medical and psychological costs for Julieta. The choice is up to them. Nacho and Susana are not pleased.

Nacho and Susana the Elder come back to Enrique's complaining about Leandro and attacking Amanda. Tamara arrives and defends her mother. Everyone's shouting and fighting. Enrique cannot take the stress and drops to the ground. He is unconscious.

YANELI

Yaneli meets with all of the sexual harassment survivors from the school and with Erika's mother to celebrate their victory in honor of Erika. They hope to be an inspiration to other women.

Genaro gets the news that Dulce made her statement accusing Nico and he is off the hook and his criminal record will be expunged.

The director of the school has come to make peace with Yaneli. He says that she wanted Edgardo's head and they delivered it for her. Now they are asking that she and her group stop their demonstrations against anyone else and in return the prep school will cover her college tuition. Yaneli refuses the offer. She would rather help all of those girls who are being abused and harassed fight back. They leave. Genaro thinks they can still reach an agreement. Yaneli cannot believe he is suggesting that when he taught her how to be honest . Genaro tells her to go ahead and do what she wants, but when she has no education and cannot find a decent job, it will be her own fault.

Yaneli texts Axel to come over. She thinks she is getting texts from Axel eying he will be there. There is a knock at the door and it is not Axel. It is Edgardo who starts to assault her and she fights back.

VENCER

After this episode, all I could say was YIKES! This was so much more complicated than I had ever imagined it would be and we still do not know everything. I am going to be interested in your thoughts.

Characters that annoyed me:

Paloma playing little “Miss Fix” It with Franco and Joel. Really? Run, Franco, run!

Susan the Elder and Nacho not understanding what negligence is. Leandro was 100% right in seeing them charged.

My favorite scenes:

Manuela giving Amanda the stink eye as she went on about what a good guy Leandro was.

Leandro with his cognac in hand and a smirk on his lips telling Irineo to watch himself.

Creepiest scene

Dulce calling “papá” on the cellphone. That gave me chills.

Jarifa, thank you so much for your time, attention to detail, and for sharing your top notch language skills.
The past few episodes have left my head spinning, and I really appreciate your filling in the gaps and your take on things.
Actually felt sorry for Nico!
Agree re Paloma, she really needs to dial it back. In fact, the Paloma-Franco story line leaves me cold and detracts from the rest of the plot.
Thanks again Jarifa!

Thanks Jarifa, that was amazing. You shared so many details that were over my head.

I’m starting to think Nico is innocent, in that he’s not in this group of lowlifes. and Leandro picked him to make life better forTamara. But now we know Leandro is the top guy. And he’s also a good lawyer because he’s bribing or threatening people. He was a bit crazy wanting Dulce to thank him. And he’s so nice to Pablito but would easily kill him.
He’s scary and dangerous!

Paloma never should have answered Franco’s phone. Is Franco going to be fighting off his former friend’s wife for the next few weeks!

I’m hoping Genaro gets home and beats the *#*%# out of Edgardo.

Great recap of a great episode. Thanks.

Jarifa, whoa ..thank you for reporting on the increasing evil and health issues and providing us with all the disturbing details.

Gee, A PSA about HIV and now one about shingles ?????

I had a feeling that the woman coming on to Franco might be the one who gave him HIV. Uff.

Gabe Soto is even better as a heinous villain than he is as a romantic galan. He is quietly terrifying in his evil.

Genero , please cone home and give Edgardo a good beatdown. Poor Yanelli .

Poor Enrique, all this stress is taking a toll on him .

We still have a lot of mysteries . I cannot imagine what Manuela's past is. Was her mother involved with criminals ?

Yikes ! The men in this show are scary and unscrupulous. I have to keep reminding myself of all the good guys in my orbit. Susan

OT...message in red at top of page is " El Amor No Tiene Receta" starts Feb 18 at 9 pm"...... Just noticed that Feb 3 is a Sunday ???? Susan

OT

Susan, I was a bit confused with the reference to Feb. 3rd, but I figured it out. The start date should be Feb. 19th; it’s been corrected. Thank you so much for bringing that to my attention :-)

Jarifa, you relayed every word, action and thought in this very frightening episode magnificently.

If not for your truly outstanding recaps, night after night, I would never have been able to follow this. And what a loss that would have been!

Reading your crystal-clear dialogue, I relived each heart stopping moment. I will not soon forget the Leandro/Dulce telephone conversation. From cold, calm, and collected, Leandro morphed into a red-faced, hate spewing, fire breathing monster. He was literally shaking, erupting in fury demanding Dulce thank him. How Dulce got through the torrent of abuse, threats and sheer hatred was impossible to fathom.

Thank heavens Dulce had brave, supportive Nora. It now seems there is little doubt as to whose hands she suffered at.

I have a feeling Leandro is likely hot on Heriberto’s tail. Finally, a victim who is worthy of his cruelty. I can’t wait until Leandro turns on Carmina, because of course he surely will once she is of no use to him.

Poor Yaneli!! If only Leandro would turn his eye toward Edgardo.

“Paloma playing little “Miss Fix” It with Franco and Joel. Really? Run, Franco, run!” is exactly right. She was intrusive and completely out of line to interfere with Franco’s relationship. I just cannot get behind Paula and Franco and agree with you Clara that they distract and detract from the other far more interesting stories. She is too perpetually perky and his constant squirming and discomfort just plain annoying.

There are still so many missing pieces to Violeta’s story, more needing to come to light. I am so intrigued to find out more.

Jarifa, I am so grateful for everything. Thank you.

Diana

OT....Dear Chickie . ... thank you ! I am looking forward to this show .

Today's advice to the good guys: Just leave the damn place! - Part 1/2

Warning: Because of technical problems, I wasn't able to identify exactly the end of the episode. With Diana's help, I think I got it. Please add any scene I wasn't able to watch, if there are some. I hope I haven't included any spoilers.

Joaquina enters the place Roberta asked her to meet up. After Roberta does her usual Leonardo-blaming and Jo defends him (that kind of took you a long time, pal), Jo tells Roberta to leave her family alone. Roberta agrees, but only if Joaquina gives her life in exchange for Leo's! Joaquina replies that Rob can do whatever she wants with her, but she won't do anything to Leo. Rob goes on and on about feeling she's different ever since she was young blah blah. And hold up, did I hear that correctly? Roberta confesses to murdering their father? Oh well, at least he got what he deserved...

Leo, instead of leaving with Marijó, Cayetana and Nicolás, decides the best thing he can do is risk everyone's safety and go search for Roberta's secret room. Emilia calls him and tells him to leave with the other 3, she has a bad feeling about this and fears something will happen. After the call, Sebas tries to calm her down but Emi freaks out more when she deduces Joaquina is Roberta's next target.

Leo, meanwhile, is still searching for the room. Ezequiel and the bad miner (Velos, right?) are watching his every move. Leo is close to discovering them and Ezequiel gets his gun out. Leo enters the room and immediately get a call from Sebas, informing him Joaquina isn't at hospital. Leo leaves before Ezequiel has the time to act. Later, Ezequiel reluctantly tells Velos he was just about to shoot him, but he didn't because of... Roberta's orders? Did she tell them -off camera- not to hurt Leo until she figures out things with Joaquina or something?

Back to the Meeting Place of Hell, Roberta insults Joaquina some more and gets a KITCHEN KNIFE out. I thought she had a gun with her? She asks Joaquina the cliché "any last words?" Jo replies that she did everything she could to make her leave behind all the things that happened to them in the past. Quite many last words, but I'll accept it. Roberta tries to attack her with the knife. I say "tries" since Joaquina hits her in the head. Yep. Out of all people, JOAQUINA is able to make Roberta fall unconscious. Believable, surely. Jo kneels down and sees blood coming from Roberta's head. She checks for a pulse; nada. Jo, instead of leaving like any normal person would do, starts screaming that she killed her sister. Honey, I don't think so, but even if you did, you contributed a great deal to society. Just sayin'!

Another person who just doesn't understand "GTFO of there" is Leo, who just tells Marijó to get some movement alarms on or something. My annoyance at the good guys for NOT LEAVING was too much for me to hear clearly.

Emi manages to communicate with Nico. At least SHE has brain cells.

Ezequiel and Velos come up with some plan. Uh oh. Dumb and Dumber conspiring can't be good.

Dan, Gigí and Jenny are with Sara. Dan says for like, the 500th million time to leave. Great idea, right? Wroooong, Sara insists on getting revenge on Roberta. And they randomly throw at us that Sara and Gigí will be co-presidentas municipales. Okay, uh, who cares at this time?! Sara talks about Addled.

Said guy's body is randomly lying in some part of the town, next to the dumpsters. At least they put the garbage with the garbage. Some couple sees his body. Do they call the cops to notify them? Of course not! Like any normal people would do, they calmly talk about Addled's bad decisions bringing him there. Okay...

Minas de Pasión, Capítulo 106, Viernes, 2 de febrero, 2023

Today's advice to the good guys: Just leave the damn place! - Part 2/2

Fidel is still holding the gun at Aleida's head. I wonder if Al could grab the gun without getting shot. Oh well, I guess I'll never know. After some FF--> talk, Fidel tells Al he wants to kill Orlando! Al tells him he won't harm Orlando. I have a bad feeling either Al or Orlando will die...

Zaira tells Marat she isn't sure about her feelings, without knowing Tigre is listening. Uh.

Dan talks to Sara about how he wants to be with her and Romy.

Emi tries to get up from the hospital bed to go see Nicolás. Seb tries to calm her down. Tigre and Gael enter and Tigre tells Emi he'll protect her no matter what.

Fidel and Aleida aren't sitting anymore, but the gun is still in Fidel's hand. Orlando enters holding a gun and tells Fidel to drop his gun. Fidel uno reverse card-s him and Al tells Orlando to leave.

I suspect some scene with Sara was cut from my video, because I thought I saw her and then I got a scene switch immediately...

Al arrives home, looking terrified. Míriam asks her what's going on and Fidel pops up with a gun pointed at Orlando's head. The house employee, Andrés AND Míriam leave. I thought Míriam would finally get an act of courage and stay to help, but nooo. Fidel starts hitting Orlando for exactly the time Aleida needed to find a gun and point it at Fidel. Do they have gun spawners or something? Where do they find guns so quickly?

Leo is searching for Orlando, to no avail.

Gigí learns about Addled's death and for unspecified reasons, starts crying. Overreaction... Dan is there for her.

Zaira and Tigre fight about Marat. I honestly hope Zaira leaves him with his whining. Emilia wakes up after some sort of nightmare and screams about Nicolás. Of course, no one thinks Emi is right to be worried for Nico, left with Leo. It's universally known he's useless, send someone else!!!

Marijó realises that the doors are locked. Hmmm, I wonder how this could be? Maybe because they stayed for like, 5 hours in there without doing ANYTHING or running away?

Fidel is arrested! Al and Orlando are in the police station. Leonardo enters searching for Joaquina. Joaquina does her usual teleporting and says she's come to turn herself in, she killed Roberta!

More Tigre/Zaira/Marat FF--> nonsense.

In what I assume is the last scene, long story, Orlando and his gang go to check the place Joaquina told them Roberta's body is, but there's nothing! Joaquina, shocked, says Roberta was here.

And with that scene (?), we have, I hope, the Fin del Capítulo...

MINAS

Weirdo, another exercise in excellence.

Your exceedingly wry and wonderful recap was the perfect antidote to the mayhem, madness and frankly, stupidity that has run rampant recently.

“Another person who just doesn't understand "GTFO of there" is Leo” and in reference to the not so dearly departed Addled “At least they put the garbage with the garbage” were great.

Roberta did seem down for the count when Joaquina whacked her. I’m starting to think someone will need to pound a stake into her heart to kill her.

I could not believe that smarmy, height challenged Fidel got the best of Orlando. Again!! His hatred for his son is inexplicable and unfathomable. I take some solace in that Roberta’s arm is long and jail will not protect Fidel from her revenge.

Just because you wear a turtleneck and a beautiful blazer does not a James Bond make. Leo wandering around the house trying every doorknob stopping short of finding Ezequiel and wandering around outside aimlessly, makes him appear clueless and ineffectual. Always in the second tier, but so far not achieving galan status.

For the life of me, I could not remember the last scene! I was dead tired so I am of no help in filling in any scene that might not have aired in the version you viewed.

Weirdo, thank you for this and for all your hard work and effort lo these many months.

Diana

Weirdo, thank you for a great, snappy recap as we lumber toward the ending . UFC

After watching the writers waste time by having Leo walk s l o w l y down that l o n g hallway turning every single doorknob of every single door, I had a v dream that a family. Member left me in a room and when , I sent to find her, I had to go through several rooms to find her . These storylines seem to have invaded my dreams.

That was quite a kiss Zaire and Marathon shared. Hey, I want Aleida to get those silver fox besos.

Babysitter Miriam got some screen time . uff

That was quite a wrestling session between dad and son . I think mom picked up the gun that Fidel dropped when they started wrestling . He was using guilty hands to choke his son. #fathersday. Susan

TELEVISA/OT:

Susan, Diana, UA, SpanProf, Darcy, Weirdo, Waterlily, Kirby, Novelera, RGV Chick & Co: Just found out the legendary Helena Rojo has passed away.

Minas #106

Thanks, Weirdo.

Joaquina is too traumatized to have done what she should have which would have to tie Roberta's hands behind her back just in case she isn't dead. At least she didn't touch the weapon.

Watching Fidel prepare to kill Orlando was easily the most disturbing thing in this episode. There were many moments in past episodes where he looked shocked at Roberta's unrelenting hatred of her own flesh and blood.

Kudos to you for these: And hold up, did I hear that correctly? Roberta confesses to murdering their father? Oh well, at least he got what he deserved... and Said guy's body is randomly lying in some part of the town, next to the dumpsters. At least they put the garbage with the garbage.

What blows my mind is that Joaquina should know better than to trust Roberta to spare Leo after killing her. I pity the actors because these writers are falling down on the job.

It was Alieda who knocked the gun out of Fidel's hand. She is a lioness!

Missing scenes must have been of Danilo at Sara's bedside.

Televisa

Gracias, Steve. This is sad news. Another great one gone.

I first saw her in El Privilegio de Amar (now available gratis on Vix). She was a classic Spanish beauty and would have been 80 on her next birthday.

UA: Considering not too long ago, I had watched Helena Rojo on "ECDLP".

Another legend gone. We're losing the great ones.

VIDA

Doris thank you so much for your notes from the armchair! I just now finished watching the episode----so much manipulation going on!

I thought Pepe would be more harsh with Isabela, but nopis, he listens to her story of how she fell in love with Lor after Alex left for Spain to pursue his music career...and tells Isabela that he supports whatever she does!

What made me laugh--Isabela and Pepe trying so hard to keep Alex from finding out that Lorenzo had been there and in walks Rafa asking why Lorenzo was there and saying that he had just seen him outside.

It's hard to watch MAL using Teo to get to Pepe. Lucia doesn't buy her act at all, but she tends to follow along for Teo's sake. Such a good sister!

Favorite scenes are always the ones with Paula and Lorenzo. The daughter-father talk was so sincere and touching. Both Paula and Lorenzo feel that finding out that Rafa is Lor's son at this time is a miracle...since Paula won't be here for long. Paula's guilt about not spending more time with her kids was so evident when she told Lor to make sure he spends more time with Rafa (than he did with her or than what she spent with her own children).

I'm so glad Lucia told Emi that Reni's apology was not sincere and that Reni whispered "stupid". But I fear Emi is not going to believe it and Reni will find a way to, again, wrap him around her little finger (and body).

Isabela confides in Gracia that she still has feelings for Lor. Gracia asked a good question, "Would Isabela leave everything to continue her relationship with Lor?" ...and Isabela didn't answer.

Another chuckling moment was when Reni tried to manipulate Diego into being interested in Lucia; if she only knew!! So glad that when she implied that Diego liked her (Reni), he told her that he would never be interested in her even if they were the last people on earth! HA!

Rafa is trying to do some manipulating too--telling Pepe that (Pepe) was feeling confused about Malena because of his interest in Paula; and then telling Pepe that Paula would be back that night for the motorcycle and to go clear things with Paula before going over to Malena's house. Unfortunately that was when Rol saw him walking toward them and force the kiss on Paula. ARGHH!!

So once again, Pepe asks Paula to leave, but this time he wants her and her father to leave town. We'll see how that turns out!

OT....Helena was a wonderful actress. The first time I saw her was in " Amor Real" as Adelaide Noriego's scheming mother. Sad to lose a beautiful talent.

Clara, Liz, Diana, thank you for your kind comments. I was happy I had time to translate so many of the conversations because this episode had so much info that we had to be aware of. I felt like my head was going to explode. : )

Clara, it was so nice to hear from you! I totally agree with your "Actually felt sorry for Nico!" Me, too. I cannot stand the character but he doesn't deserve to be punished for something he didn't do. Looks like he will be there for a good while like maybe until the end of the novela? Would they kill him off?

Liz, "Gabe Soto is even better as a heinous villain than he is as a romantic galan. He is quietly terrifying in his evil." "And he’s so nice to Pablito but would easily kill him. He’s scary and dangerous!" You are so right about that. I think Soto has found his true niche. I am so enjoying his portrayal of this character. I always had a clue Leandro was behind it all but never to this extent.

Diana, great description of Leandro: "From cold, calm, and collected, Leandro morphed into a red-faced, hate spewing, fire breathing monster. He was literally shaking, erupting in fury demanding Dulce thank him." Finally, we found out why Dulce was beaten so badly. The next question for me is if Leandro was the one to beat Dulce to get the info. As for Manuela's past, who knows? Anything is possible in this novela at this point. As for Paloma and Franco: "She is too perpetually perky and his constant squirming and discomfort just plain annoying." They have turned out to be one big YAWN. I still cannot believe her being so intrusive.

OT

Helena Rojo was always one of my favorites. I am currently watching her in "Por ell soy Eva" on Unimás.

Minas

Thanks, Weirdo, loved the recap and title.

Why would Leo leave the three kids alone in a house where he either knows or suspects there’s a secret room?

I was surprised to read Roberta’s body wasn’t where it was supposed to be. I figured she wasn’t dead but somehow missed that she wasn’t there. I don’t think I saw Orlando looking for her. Maybe I dozed off. And why does Joaquina always decide she killed someone.

I wonder if Fidel will stay locked up? Maybe they figure mad, crazy Roberta is enough to deal with in the last two shows.

Not sure why Gigi was so upset at hearing Addled was dead. She should be relieved!

Liz

Minas
Thanks, weirdo.
I too thought Miriam would get some courage but...Well, she is a baby sitter after all. But they wasted all her opportunities instead making her worse and worse and then going to 'neutral'.
Gigi's reaction was surprising.I now wonder if they did it like this because people expect you to cry or if ...I don't know what the other reason could be. Is someone being your husband for many years a good enough reason?
Did Aleida get to shoot at Fidel? I can't remember.
Even after watching the whole thing, the word I'd use for this telenovela is bizarre because it was so strange and kept getting stranger. Did it have bad ratings or something?Or was it written like this from the start? If so, I cannot understand why they thought Leo should be the galan.

OT. - Steve B thank you for sharing the sad news about Helena Rojo. She was such a great actress. QEPD

VENCER

Thanks, Susan. Susan and Liz, whoopsie, It looks like I fused two of your comments into one when I was responding. Sort of tells what kind of weekend I had. We soldier on!

Vencer

Great stuff as we get into the last two weeks.

I've been watching Gabriel Soto for 20+ years and have to say that he mostly flops as a galan in drama but did well in comedy as in Soltero con Hijas
. This is his first foray into playing evil and I think they wrote the right brand of evil for him. I wonder if he was ever interviewed about this.

While Carmina will be valuable for the moment I think he would eventually discard her over her neediness in even less time than Pablo needed to find her too tiresome and high-maintenance. She gets on my last nerve with her little-girl voice, stupid prejudices, and toxic femininity. I even question whether she loves her son.

Predicting now that Amanda's discovery of Leandro's true nature will wait until the last thre episodes. In the meantime I hope nothing bad happens to Eugenio, who deserves happiness.

Whatever there is about Manuela it doesn't matter at this point relative to the outcome. I have yet to see a novela where a protagonist is turned evil at the last minute. I do think, however, that Julieta is headed for danger that she and Pablo need to rescue her from.

Minas

Thank you everyone for your comments and kind words!

Diana, " I’m starting to think someone will need to pound a stake into her heart to kill her." LOL so true! I don't think she's going to die, I'm firmly of the opinion that she'll end up crazy. We'll see...

"Just because you wear a turtleneck and a beautiful blazer does not a James Bond make" made me laugh! So true. I was legit screaming at him to leave the place. He put everyone in danger.

Thank you for your hard effort all these months too, Diana. I really like us being co-recappers :)

Susan, thanks for adding the kiss scene. I fear that was cut from my recording. Ugh.

"These storylines seem to have invaded my dreams." Yeah, that happens. I have had several dreams of telenovela characters. My brain makes its own plot lines in my dreams. They're usually quite interesting.

Susan and Urban, thanks for adding that Aleida grabbed the gun from Fidel. Now it makes more sense, but why would Fidel drop the gun to hit Orlando??

Urban, "Watching Fidel prepare to kill Orlando was easily the most disturbing thing in this episode" was so true. He has lost it as well. That's what you get when you hang out with Roberta too much... Lol

I, too, am confused as to why would Jo believe Rob. The writers aren't doing a good job, that's for sure.

Liz, I wonder the same thing about Leo! Reckless.

"Not sure why Gigi was so upset at hearing Addled was dead. She should be relieved!" IKR? I was shocked at her reaction. He had mistreated her so many times, crying wasn't appropriate.

Waterlily, LOL about Míriam the babysitter.

"Even after watching the whole thing, the word I'd use for this telenovela is bizarre because it was so strange and kept getting stranger" Invencible 2.0...
