VIVIR #23 Part 1

So much dialogue, much far above my understanding. I did the best I could.

JE seems incredulous Angel is divorcing him. As she argues brokenheartedly, does he cry and beg forgiveness? No he sneers and snarls about her culpability regarding Dulce’s murder! OK she says in exasperation, go. He upbraids her about secrets. “Mentirosa”, “traitor”, go ahead call me what you will she cries! Angel holds up her hands with her wedding rings; yet he is unmoved.

Misael and Rebeca’s ugly confrontation continues. “Were you with JE or not”, Misael screams. “Did you spend the night with him?” Why does he even ask the question; he has already tried and convicted her in his mind. (Of course he is right but…) Misael puts his hands around her neck and throws her down on the bed. She tells him to leave her alone and he finally gets up. Personally, I think she could have lifted him up with one hand and thrown him off but I digress….

Speaking of ugly, the painful Angel/JE scene continues. Tomorrow she is filing for divorce she assures him as she takes off her wedding rings, leaving them on the table. (I still say sell them). “Goodbye JE” she whispers and leaves. He stares and picks up the rings clutching them in his fist but then leaves them on the table.

Rebeca is combating Misael’s anger by assuring him what occurred was all in accordance with Monica’s plans. He listens but fury unabated, starts to choke her again. He releases his hold, turns his back and grimaces. Astonishingly, Rebeca doesn’t seem to be afraid of him hurting her, she seems only determined to have him believe her.

Gabriel shows up as Mati is throwing hoops. He tells her what he overheard Lucas saying on the phone but Mati doesn’t believe him and tells him to leave, but she looks upset.

Gabriela tells JE someone is waiting for him but all he cares about is getting a confession.

Rebeca is “babying” Misael touching his face and telling him how important he is to her. “Te quiero” she soothes. She reminds him they want to frame JE and put him in jail for fraud. As this cringeworthy scene ends, she manages to seduce him. My stomach is roiling.

Angel flashes back to JE’s accusations as she tries to concentrate on work. She calls her attorney asking for the name of a good divorce lawyer.

JE thumbs through a stack of papers also recalling their conversation when Elena comes in. “What is it son” she asks concernedly. He starts in on all the problems but avoids specifically talking about Angel. She tells him she loves and adores him. Viewerville does not. He fingers his ring but still, not a single tear.

Lucas is also trying to find a lawyer, for Ramiro. He gets hung up on so we must assume he is having no luck. Mati calls him but he blows her off. Gabriel’s warning words reverberate in her head.

Jimena leaves the restaurant bidding goodbye to Gi. My friend is very preoccupied Gi says (referring to Elena I believe) with Santiago and everything else going on. Angel is worried about the restaurant, and she blames herself. Gi comforts her.

Monica seems to be flirting with the banker and worse, he seems to be enjoying it.

Don Emilio keeps looking outside, staring at the window where he saw the flashlight signals coming from.

JE and Antonio discuss Don Emilio. Abuelo he says, kissing his grandfather on the cheek.

VIVIR #23 Part 2 of 2

Cris talks with Adolfo and she asks him to respect her decision (can someone fill in) as we see Mau lurking on the street.

Angel is daydreaming about her wedding as she works with her flowers. Did she bury her rings in the soil?

Lucas gets a call from Mati. Are you busy? I want to talk to you. She questions him but he tells her things are complicated. He says Gabriel is trying to cause trouble. She hangs up and cries.

Angel continues to torture herself crying to an image of her father. Forgive me father she begs, although she’s done nothing wrong.

Gi and Renato discuss their mutual dislike of Rebeca, the traitor. I think Renato says JE will never get as wonderful a woman as Angel. You can say that again. I believe Gi says she has a solution to keep the bank from taking the restaurant.

Rebeca and Monica swill cocktails and Monica talks with someone regarding Angel and the restaurant which I couldn’t follow. I think Rebeca suggests that Monica buy Angel’s shares in the restaurant which would in effect finish Angel off.

Gi, Angel and Renato share a hug. It appears Gi has a plan as Angel is actually smiling.

Gi, Renato and Angel visit the bank. It is immediately apparent that something is seriously amiss. The banker won’t make eye contact and when Gi offers her hand, he won’t take it. I believe he tells her Angel’s shares have been sold but he won’t reveal who. Shocked, the trio departs as the banker sits back, upset.

Outside of Monica’s, Rebeca encounters Elena at the gate. At first, Elena seems a tiny bit frosty as to what transpired with her daughter. But Rebeca puts on a tearful show and Elena actually takes her hand in hers! Rebeca seems to crumble and Elena actually seems to forgive her!! After she leaves, Rebeca murmurs about Elena’s stupid princess and gloats that the restaurant and JE will soon be hers. Then, JE drives out, Rebeca going up to his window, seemingly apologizing and gets in.

Don Emilio, following his astute instincts goes again to the shed. He is walking through but Santiago has heard him, getting up and standing in the corner where he can’t see him.

Rebeca and JE are having coffee and whatever she said upsets him; he gets up and leaves.

Luciano and Fatima are riding…He lassos the horse and the horse runs off, dragging Luciano behind him!

Mau pops up and confronts Cris. They stare and she is not in the least happy to see him.

Santiago has managed to escape the house and as bad luck would have it, runs straight into JE. JE punches him but the gushing blood is no deterrent to JE who continues to pummel him. Don Emilio rushes up and tells JE to stop! Santiago is innocent Don says, someone else has been arrested! JE looks shocked.

Elena and Angel are at the restaurant when the banker shows up. They need not wonder who purchased Angel’s stock any longer. With a sweep of his hand, the new buyer struts in declaring she has purchased the shares. It is none other than Rebeca.

Terrific recap, Diana. This TN does move (apart from JE being stuck on stupid). Thanks for all the deets.

Poor Angel. I was hoping at least Monica would be the new owner of the restaurant (as nonsensical as that would've been). Anyone but Rebecca. So where is Rebecca suppose to have gotten the dough to buy it?

Rebecca boohooed to JE that Angel had fired her. She asked JE to hire her so she could keep a roof over her head. He wasn't THAT stupid and told her the most he could do for her is give her a referral.

At last, Santiago is found. Now Elena can relax about him. Of course the dummy will keep his mouth shut about Dulce's murder and Elena will treat him like a baby and demand no answers from him as he gives not a thought to the innocent man taking his tattoo place.

It's crazy how Monica can get a ranch manager and now a bank manager to do her bidding.

Diana , thank you for delivering every moment to us . I wasn't able to watch, but Thanks to you , I know what happened .

I have no use for a galan like JE. He will surely end up with the leading lady since he is the leading man . I am frustrated at the way writers now depict the galans with feet of clay. We need heroes . So, JE lets Refrida get into his car. Great idea.

Don Emilio is clever and pragmatic. Go, Don Emilio. His wheelchair isn't stopping him from investigating .

I wonder how recently released Mau is going to fit into the narrative . Is he a good guy or a bad guy? Will he team up with Monica and Miserable , or be a thorn in their sides ?

I am expecting Renato to offer Angeli tea and sympathy . He knows Refrida , so that could be helpful. I also hope that Brayan keeps popping up to annoy and threaten her .

It will be interesting to see how Rebeca explains her new infusion of cash. I suspect she won't tell them Monica gave her the money for the restaurant, right (?)

Thank you for explaining Rebeca told JE she was going to be homeless.

Monica must be paying the lackeys to do her bidding right? It surely can't be her charm. Ack.

I like your train of thought; Renato was onto Rebeca from the beginning and think/hope he will be an important part of her takedown. Brayan has a claim on Rebeca, if only in his mind. He isn't going to let go easily...

Real galans treat their leading ladies tenderly. JE has treated Angel with a complete lack of respect and been cruel to boot. I don't see how he is going to redeem himself...

Vivir. Today's episode was the first I had seen. Thanks for the excellent recap, Diana! I did read the Wikipedia brief intro and it looks as if this novela is yet another example of the very old romance trope/cliche of the child separated from parents, and raised elsewhere, only to discover years later who and where the parents are. It was extremely common in Spanish romances of chivalry as well as in Greek romances like Daphnis and Chloe. This episode was pretty melodramatic. I kind of wish that the woman (Rebeca) whose partner had started to strangle her had hit him over the head with a bedside lamp or maybe knocked out a tooth or 2. There were lots of lamentations from Angel about losing her restaurant (not to mention getting divorced). I notice that Rebeca is played by Gala Montes, who I thought usually played a "good guy." But playing against type can be kind of fun. Seems like a very busy novela which will no doubt make more sense as I get more into it.

Diana, thank you for another excellent recap! I would be totally lost without them.

I am quite disgusted with both Just Embarrassing and Misael. Neither one seems to be in control of himself. JE is incredibly nasty with the woman he supposedly loves, and is perfectly happy to start pummeling Santiago the minute he sees him. (Not that Santiago doesn't deserve some punishment.)

Misael is obviously completely smitten with Rebeca, so to show his love he slaps and chokes her. Well, we knew he wasn't all that nice of a guy, but this is worse.
OTOH, Rebeca can manage him without too much trouble.

So far I would say only Luciano is really upstanding... and he might not be too bright or upstanding considering the way he got dragged off by that horse. But he'll recover, I'm not worried about him. After all, a savage wolf tried to rip his hand off and ten minutes later macho Luciano was just fine. And I see Fatima in his future and she's the best-looking of the women in this show, and maybe the sanest too.

She's not quite as much fun as Monica though. Monica seems to be able to get her way with any man, by threatening them, paying them off, or by old-fashioned flirtation and implied promises. Terrible person, but fun.

Thank goodness for don Emilio! Aside from all his other good qualities, he speaks slowly enough that I can usually understand him! And how nice that is!

Yes, Gala Montes is definitely cast against type as is Kimberly Dos Ramos. Gala did a great job in Disenando tu amor and also La Mexicano y el guero which we both watched.

There is a lot going on and there are a fair amount of characters...to this TN's credit, things are moving along...

You made an excellent point in that neither Misael or JE seem able to control themselves. Misael is the villain yet JE's (the purported galan) verbal venom is even more vitriolic than Misael's.

Andy, whenever I read your wry comments about the bad girls , it's as if you are channeling Caray's Dr. Carlos . He liked to stir up the ladies here by championing the bad girls.

Luciano would be my pick of the lot . However, he has some problems with the animalitos. He is not the horse whisperer.

Yes, Angel buried her rings in that pot of flowers. I'm sure that will mean something later on. If it was that big of a rock, yep, she should have sold it to ward off the bank.

These writers really know how to drive us nuts. They waited until the very last minute for JE to find out there was a guy in the slammer for killing Dulce, and after he'd beaten Santiago almost to a pulp. My god I wish Santiago would grow a pair. There's zero chance he's going to out Misael any time before the last week of this thing.

I love every time JE doesn't fall into Refrida's clutches as she'd planned. Really enjoyed his telling her there was no way they could work together.

Elena drives me crazy. As we've said she had no comfort for her daughter about the breakup of her marriage. And now she buys Refrida's "so sorry I was bad" act and embraces her.

Another thing that drove me nuts was the whole joy and pleasure Gi and Renato had placing an offer on the restaurant and, of course, telling the overjoyed Angelli. Only to dash our hopes in about 10 minutes. I can't for the life of me imagine how Refrida is going to explain buying the restaurant.

What is up with that awful denim top that Refrida is wearing? Yikes!

Will we see JE groveling tomorrow? Angelli needs to spit in his face.

As I suspected, right up until the time I went to sleep no Vivir, but it's posted this morning.

I hate this trend of less than heroic galans too, but the one thing I can say for Vivir; at least Angel tells JE exactly what I hero he ISN'T!!! Unlike other offerings where the galan is a jerk and the protag just cries and begs Mr. Not Perfect to come back. Angel told JE exactly what an idiot he is and how he promised her eternal love and is now destroying it with stupid accusations!!! Of course, he's too stupid to listen to her.

Speaking of stupid, JE pummeling the daylights out of Santi didn't ring true for me. I love (not) how every galan is a potential thug in a suit too, the dressed-up corporate businessman ready to give you a beat down at any moment!! Plus, Santi is so much smaller and was injured, JE just looked like an irrational gorrila in that scene, not the hero my heart will ever swoon for.....sadly.

Elsewhere, JE is doubting the validity of the fraud because he can't find any trace of the money and he's wondering if maybe grandpa really did do something with the money and it just losing it!!! LOL Ironically, it's Aldolfo (father of the theft) who doubts this and assures JE that DE would have told them, at the time, if he'd done such a large transaction.

DE isn't loosing it at all and had figured out that an injured man was hiding in that area and he needed to go look again and find him, Santi should have come out for DE and saved himself a beating!!!

Whatever Monica's real deal is with Angel, it can't be just not wanting her to get their money, since she used her money to get the restaurant!!! Investing in a failing restaurant is a bad investment even as a hostile takeover. So, she should have let Gi/Renato pay the debt - ie. her precious family money wouldn't be touched, but she does this because???? If Refrida is smart enough (and we know she is) to have her name on EVERYTHING, Monica just bailed out the family restaurant and as bad as it looks now technically the restaurant is still in the family, since Refrida is an de Olmo!!! I keep wondering if she'll be redeemed or not by the end, I vote no, but I have a suspicion the writers are going to go for yes!

But I agree, how is Refrida going to explain buying the restaurant??? Maybe she'll have Angel believe JE gave her the money??? Refrida was still plying JE with the idea that all Angel cares about is the restaurant and that she fired Refrida because she came between them and thus ended her opportunity to win back JE and have him rescue the restaurant!!!

JE is a complete moron for believing any of Refrida's garbage! She doesn't even know the players well enough to come up with a good lie and it doesn't matter because dim bulb JE believes her anyway!!! I hope he doesn't go groveling right away!!! He needs to go sit in a corner and think about what he has done!!! Or at least go find a brain cell!

Ha, I never thought about the restaurant still being in the family. But hours after she tells JE she lost her job and will be homeless, she buys a restaurant!
I’m upset with the banker. You should be able to trust your banker. And why is he doing Monica’s bidding. Surely she doesn’t have men falling in love with her.

Santiago has been spoiled all his life but Angel blames herself for the trouble with the restaurant when it was Santiago’s gambling that was the reason for this loss. Elena was crazy to believe Rebecca’s garbage. Especially while treating Angel so poorly.

I think Mau is going to be the hero in this. I just think Monica framed him. And maybe he never even cheated. But he’s going to learn his daughter is dead and he’ll get to the bottom of it. He did overhear Santiago blame Misael.

When Mati was talking to Lucas did she ever find out the truth. It seemed like he was blaming the neighborhood.

I’ll try to respond more promptly. I usually finish Receta in the am. But not a daytime tv watcher usually.

39.) More of the sex escapade between Augie & Berta: Fast Forward.

40.) Before Constanza can answer Gonzalo whether she's in love with Chema, Regina comes out to tell them that Dona Cata passed away.

41.) Over at La Bonita: Matilde upset about Gullible Renata being engaged to Jackass Augie. What else is new little girl ?

42.) Psycho Fina gleeful that Dona Cata died when reading the newspaper about her death. She wants Regina to suffer even more & more.

43.) The funeral service of Dona Cata takes place.

44.) Over at La Bonita: Jeronimo notified that Scumbag Alvaro died; he tells everyone to gather inside the living room.

45.) Meanwhile, Berta launches insults about Adriana & Matias: OMG More Fast Forward.

46.) In the living room of La Bonita Hacienda: The funeral service of Scumbag Alvaro takes place (WTH ?) Karina should be secretly GLAD that the scumbag is FINALLY dead, which means she & Lazaro will FINALLY get together hopefully.

47.) We also see Marina clinging to Jeronimo's arm like a tight cat. Renata shows up at the funeral & gets kicked out by Jeronimo LOL.

48.) Psycho Fina calls Antonio to inform him that Dona Cata died. Blah-blah among the EVIL Antagonists.

49.) Gonzalo informs Honorio about Dona Cata's death.

You got good vibes from Mau. I had thought he might be another villain but I fervently hope you are right. We desperately need heros. Luciano is a good guy but I don't think he will don a superman cape anytime soon.

VIVIR #24 Part 1

I understood very, very little in today’s episode; it was far above my understanding. I am going to note scenes merely as placeholders. I apologize. Kindly fill in as to what I missed.

“You” Angel accuses, staring at Rebeca, moving forward incredulously. Rebeca tries to explain herself as Elena looks on.

JE is being held back as Santiago bloodies the sidewalk. Monica rushes up and exacerbates the situation. Santiago is bleeding from every orifice as JE checks his pristine hands.

Cris upbraids Mau about their children. He seems to hold Elena’s father responsible and begs her forgiveness. He starts coughing and collapses on his knees but Cris continues to be unmoved. Then, he pulls out a vial and pours it on the napkin so she would think it was blood. Alarmed, she asks him if he is ill. His voiceover tells us he is full of vitriol and hate.

Bruno and Misael are talking with Romina. Misael threatens that if she continues to get embroiled in his business he will have her jailed. Mama calls and she leaves.

Lucas goes to see Ramiro; has he been moved? The receptionist says something about Dulce….

Rebeca, Elena and Angel are still talking. Rebeca mentions the death of her father. Elena does seem to be on Angel’s side even when Rebeca starts babbling about JE.

Gabiel holds Mati, tells her he cares about her and hugs her. They kiss but she pulls back. He smiles.

Misael gets the news about Santiago calling him an imbecile.

Monica is on the scene, screaming like a banshee. Santiago is finally taken away in an ambulance.

Don Emilio tries to bring up Angel but JE seems to declare discussion at a dead end as he says he is getting divorced.

Rebeca pretends to/ or does actually feel faint. She slumps in her chair and fans herself as Elena looks concerned. Elena does tell her that JE and Angel were happy (for about two minutes). Rebeca silently thinks about being abandoned. Then Angel rushes in to tell Elena about Santiago.

Monica confronts Santiago now in a hospital bed about Dulce’s murder. She snarls and accuses and seems to threaten him about talking. She crushes the drip bag for emphasis.

VIVIR #24 Part 2 of 2

Elsewhere, at the happy, idyllic waterfall setting, Luciano is swimming and Fatima decides to join in the fun. Hugging and kissing ensue. She questions him about the divorce and they seem to be talking things out. Te amo they both take turns yelling, sharing their happiness with the world.

JE and Adolfo face Ramiro in jail. JE is accusatory but actually is far nicer to him than he was to his wife. I am not an assassin Ramiro vows! JE disagrees and stands up; the guard leads Ramiro away as he proclaims his innocence. JE seems as though he might have a seed of doubt.

Rebeca is with Doris and pulls out a pregnancy test.

Mati and Gabe talk and get back to basketball.

Bruno and Romina meet and while he seemed to be somewhat threatening cannot translate.

Rebecas confirms she is pregnant and lies and tells Doris that she is going to say JE is the father!! What?? Doris is impactada.

Luciano and Fatima are at the stables (what a beautiful horse). As they kiss, Mati and Javier show up. Busted! Javier sticks his finger down his throat as Mati looks shocked and very unhappy.

JE talks with Sebastian, filling him in.

Elena and Angel finally arrive at Santiago’s bedside. Elena strokes his forehead as he cries and murmurs. Angel is very sweet to her undeserving brother. He mutters something about Monica and then JE that I didn’t catch.

Misael is with Monica when Angel comes in. She asks about Monica buying the restaurant. She insults her, Elena and Santiago. I think she offers to give Angel her job back but that she is to stay out of her family’s lives!

Javier defends Fatima and stands by his father’s side, hugging him, you aren’t alone. Mati looks sad and then shrugs as she softens under Luciano’s kind words and support. Thank you children.

JE is with Sebastian when JE gets the divorce document from Angel! Finally, he seems a bit remorseful. I think Sebastian tries to talk some sense into him.

Brayan shows up at Rebeca’s. He starts trying to undress her and she fights him off.

Renato, Angel and Jimena talk. Renato says something important which I didn’t catch. Angel laments she is losing everything, JE and the restaurant!

I absolutely did not recognize or remember Sebastián. For a few seconds I thought he was supposed to be Santiago, that's how confused I can get.
But I'm surprised that at the reclusorio Marino never mentioned Doris' name. He might at least raise some slight suspicion in JE and/or Sebastián.

I wonder about Doris sometimes. Does she know that Rebeca got her to set up someone as a murder suspect?
Does she care? Would she care if she knew?

"Luciano and Fatima are at the stables (what a beautiful horse). As they kiss, Mati and Javier show up. Busted! Javier sticks his finger down his throat..."
Javier made me laugh out loud. Just wait another few years, kid. But this was fun.

Mauricio sure didn't take long to show us his bad side. Still, he may have learned a few tricks in jail and became hardened out of necessity. I'll give him another two episodes but I don't expect to find him a really good guy.

Angel, Jimena, and Renato are trying to figure out what's going on with Monica and Rebeca. They hardly know each other yet they seem to be a team to take everything away from Angel.

BTW, I think Jimena is looking pretty good, but I don't see much interest from Renato.

You're right, Ramiro didn't seeem to mention Doris, or anyone else for that matter.

Your question about Doris was an excellent one. Unlike Rebeca, Doris does seem to have a conscience; would she knowingly help to set up Ramiro for murder? Honestly, I don't know.

I enjoyed Javier's childish gesture too. A bit more of that please. THAT I can translate! 😊

Good point about Renato; he's definitely preoccupied with Angel's problems but I think his interest in Jimena will return. Soon.

Poor Romina. Her dream job has turned into a nightmare. She joins Ramiro in the scapegoat role. I don't like her for dumping her kids, but honestly she is too smart for a dummy like Bruno to have control over her.

Too funny that JE is shocked that he's served with divorce papers. Who wouldn't want a husband that accuses you of high crimes, claims you married him for interest, and cheats (not true) with your employee in your own marriage bed? Can't wait for Rebecca to drop the baby bomb on him.

And speaking of novela cliches, viewerville knows practically immediately tat Rebeca is pregnant, based on her symptoms. And it looks as if, even in this age of DNA, she is going to try to misattribute the baby's paternity. She also seems to be trying to ingratiate herself with Angelli and their mother; no one seems to have guessed that they're related. So, is the man arrested for Dulce's murder really the killer? Do people who joined this novela at the beginning know for sure? Not surprised that the evil Monica is the mother of the evil Misael.

SpanProf - I keep telling Diana she is too hard on herself. She understands a lot more than she gives herself credit for! Diana, you may be still learning dialog but you've got the motives and motivations down cold!!! I haven't read the recap yet because I won't have the episode on Vix til tomorrow but I've no doubt it's wonderful!!

Also SpanProf - the guy in jail did NOT kill Dulce. He was tricked (by a pretty girl he likes) into getting the same tattoo that Santi has and then framed for the murder. Santi didn't kill Dulce either, but most don't know that yet. Angel saw a guy with the tattoo outside of the house on that night and is assuming it was the killer, it was Santi but she doesn't know that; but she's wrong about the tattoo guy being the killer. Santi was there and was involved in the robbery, but Misael actually killed Dulce, on accident, when she walked in and found him and Santi committing the robbery.

Lucio, thank you for the info about Nadie Como Tu! The listing I checked over the weekend didn't show it on Unimas' schedule but I see it there now. I updated the page.

 

Also, the guy in jail, Ramiro; actually seems like a decent enough kid. He's involved with the neighborhood gang but he doesn't seem to be actually hardened. More of the 'got involved with a gang because they actually care about me' type kid. He is sitting in jail by himself because when he was caught with Lucas, he lied and said Lucas wasn't involved so that the kid would go free. He also hasn't squealed on the rest of the gang. What he was arrested for was robbing the restaurant (Angel's) but when he got arrested they saw the tattoo and searched his house and found was planted evidence so now they think he is the murderer. Misael and Rebeca (Refrida - which is a mix of Rebeca and Frida) framed Ramiro with Doris's help. They intended to frame Brayan, but that dude didn't fall her Doris's drunken seduction so she improvised and took naive Ramiro instead.

This is a full of familiar faces cast! Karla Esquivel recently played Gaby in Mi Camino es Amarte and she's got the protag role here. I don't know about another child assumed dead and raised as someone else storyline - that would be three with Vivir and Receta, but it looks interesting. I just plain don't have time for another novela but if anyone is interested, it started yesterday so it's at the beginning. It's also being added to Vix I saw.

When Bruno and Romina were talking he was basically blaming Misael and saying he knows nothing about the missing money. That Maseal doesn’t tell him anything. And he assured her she wouldn’t go to jail. (I think)

I didn’t remember who Sebastian was at first. Maybe he’ll be the one to uncover the missing money.

So Angel is realizing Rebeca wants to take everything from her. She and JE really need to form a team to stop Rebeca.

I don’t understand the restaurant and the partnership. Does Monica own it outright or is she a major shareholder. I realize Rebeca doesn’t really own it but is representing Monica. But I thought Monica didn’t want anyone to know she was the one that payed the bank. Then she announces it to Santiago.

Andy, I wonder about Doris too. I’m not sure if she knows the whole background of why it had to be that tattoo.

The pregnancy doesn’t surprise me except that Rebeca doesn’t seem maternal and is too smart not to use birth control. Plus was she so confident she could get JE in a situation where he might believe he was the father.

I don't think Misael is clever enough to have masterminded the theft singlehandedly and suspect Bruno was an integral part of the planning. I don't think Bruno has any ability (or desire) to keep Romina out of jail if it suits his/Misael's purposes.

I think Sebastian is still in the story for a reason and have high hopes he will be able to figure out the theft.

I am admittedly confused about the restaurant and the partnership...

What I remember is Don Emilio not ever telling Cristina that Mauricio had been found and put in prison. I think she thought he deserted her and the children. Later on she was told the truth because she'd have heard the news about his being released. For 2 seconds I bought what someone posted here, that Monica had framed him. Then we saw him plant that blood. Then we heard his thoughts. He said she was the same as always; i.e., she was willing to help him after what he'd done (kind hearted and stupid). And that he was sure he'd get her to fall back in love with him (doubtless to get his hands on the family bucks). Can't wait to see Don E.'s reaction if he's forgiven.

Boy, if I were Gabriela Spanic I would not want to watch this novela. She just looks awful. Her face doesn't look right, that coat after coat of lipstick, gah!

Misael asked Bruno to work on Romina. They sort of played good cop, bad cop. Bruno pretended to be upset with what Misael did and to not be involved in the fraud.

Raising my hand as another one confused about the restaurant. If Monica bought it in a fire sale because she got that banker to refuse to negotiate more time on the debt, why in the world does everyone think Elena and Angelli are going to continue working there? Angelli even said it would be impossible for them to co-exist after her supposedly bedding Angelli's husband. Why don't they just walk away, taking Renato with them?

Doris is on to Refrida's hard heart. She made a crack about her lack of grief over Antonio's death.

Monica told Santiago she bought the restaurant and would throw Elena and Angelli in the street if he didn't keep quiet about what Misael did. Again, who cares to work in a family business that's not your family's?

Well, they went there. The same old, same old. Bad girl gets pregnant with a crappy guy and convinces the dimwit galan he's the baby daddy.

Oh, and kudos to the commenter who posted they didn't think J.E. would run to Angelli and grovel. He did manage a good gobsmacked expression when he asked why no one told him about the tattooed guy in the slammer. Well, dummy, you never gave anyone a chance.

I think we are all confused by the 'sell' of the restaurant, becsause it isn't a sell by any traditional means. Maybe it's Mexican law, or maybe just novela law; but what Monica did was pay off the bank debt - which wouldn't buy you a restaurant in the real world. You'd have to negotiate with the company, ie. owners to buy the restaurant. Really I don't think the bank could even own the restaurant - they would own the building if it's mortgaged, or just the line of credit - but the worse they could do is foreclose on the debt and force the sell of the building to pay it. They couldn't actually sell the restaurant IRL. Unless, it's a publically sold company - ie. stock and shares, in which case Monica could become the 'majority shareholder' if the bank had the majority of shares to sell her and she bought them - but again that would be buying stock and not paying off bank debt. So, on to novela rule - where apparently you can become the majority owner of a restaurant by paying off their bank debt. So Monica is now majority owner, but the way they are talking Angel and Elena do still have some minor ownership of the restaurant.

JE is such a tool!!! In one scene he's beating the crap out Santi (sorry Santi just looks like a little kid to me, I can't even see it as JE beating a man but rather a kid) for killing his sister, and three scenes later he's yelling at Ramiro for the same thing!! Calling him a liar and all kinds of horrible things - but yes, less horrible than what he said to his own wife! Dude, go sit down!!! You don't know what in the hell you are talking about!! Maybe wait for the guilty verdict and then.....nah, just skip it entirely! Dude can't even find $50 million dollars that has gone missing, what does he really think he's the authority of? He needs to let DE figure it out. Grandpa is confused and forgetful but he'll get to the truth sooner, guaranteed.

I'm starting to think Luciano and Fatima are meant as the comedic relief couple - cute, little brief drama scenes, but nothing too serious. Luciano is bit by a wolf but fine the next day. Dragged by a horse (someone please tell me why he didn't just let go of the rope?) but swimming playfully the next thing we know. Has a major attitude problem daughter who is hell bent on keeping daddy from dating anyone new? She finally finds out about Fatima and protests for like a minute and then shrugs and smiles??? smh


Elena assures Santi he's going to go free now and she's probably right since it's novelaland, but that's annoying!! He still broke out of prision, there should be some follow up on that!!

Monica is still annoying - I am determined to keep you away from my family's money so I spent my money to blackmail you!!!! She has the genius of JE!!! She did say part of her problem with Angel is that Cris and her kids already upsurped her in daddy's affections and Angel was trying to too! So maybe she was jealous of a bond between Angel and DE?

I bow to you, Novelera and everyone else who has commented on the restaurant "ownership" with such insight and clarity. The big takeaway for me is "So Monica is now majority owner, but the way they are talking Angel and Elena do still have some minor ownership of the restaurant". As I was confused all the way around, this makes sense!! :)

JE's beating of Santiago was savage. Santiago was so vulnerable and no match for him physically yet he mercilessly pummeled him to the ground. He did the same verbally, cutting Angel to quick with his razor sharp, painful words. She who loved and trusted him. He is a brute and at this point, I find him loathsome and irredeemable.

I find Fatima and Luciano as a calming oasis in the midst of much treachery and madness.

You are right, Monica is jealous of Angel propelling her to pure, unadulterated irrational hatred.

On Mau, it’s both. He DID leave Cris and the kids for another younger woman AND he stole her jewelry when he left. The part that Cris didn’t know was that he was caught and thrown in jail and thus had been in jail all those years instead of enjoying life with the younger woman. I am not sure why DE would keep it from Cris either except that if she really is as big a bleeding heart as Mau and Monica believe maybe DE was concerned Cris would go see Mau in jail and he would draw her in again and manipulate her into helping him just to break her heart again. Kind of like what it sounds like Mau is planning now.

VIVIR #25 Part 1

Kindly provide conversation I missed and/or misinterpreted.

At the restaurant, Angel cries about JE to a sympathetic Renato and Jimena.

Rebeca is still trying to fend off Brayan, insisting she will not be giving him any money. As he persists, she finally smashes a glass bottle over his head. She pushes him away and he takes his anger and frustration out on a table.

Hand in hand, strolling blissfully, Fatima and Luciano discuss JE. She says he is a wonderful person and then says how horrible it is how things have turned out between JE and Angel. Luciano envelopes her in a comforting hug. She smiles and there are besos as Bruno watches from a balcony above fuming.

Romina starts taking pictures of documents with her camera. However, she is not undetected as Sebastian enters the office surprising her. She avoids him and leaves in a hurry. He looks after her suspiciously.

Bruno confronts Fatima and she tells him AGAIN she is in love with Luciano.

Dour JE thinks about Ramiro’s words and then those of battered and bloodied Santiago. He shakes his head, seemingly deep in thought.

Mau and Cris are back in Cris’ house as he fake hacks. I think Cris says her father will not be welcoming him back with open arms. He natters on about his children (that he didn’t hesitate to abandon I say scornfully). Fatima and JE are good she says. He fake cries.

Elena and Gi are arranging flowers as Elena laments the loss of her husband and Frida. Gi seems to suspect something is up with Alma. Speaking of, we next see Alma at home, shocked at Rebeca’s disheveled appearance asking her what happened. She tries frantically to ask her daughter if she is all right but Rebeca rejects her and goes into her room. Alma sees the box of newspaper clippings and opens them. They are all about Frida’s disappearance. She hyperventilates saying Rebeca Del Olmo.

Back to Mau wondering if his children will forgive him. Cris shakes her head, (is his act as transparently fake to her as it is to us??) He has the nerve to ask Cris if they can resuscitate their marriage. No is the answer. Adolfo comes up and asks why he is there. Mau makes some insincere comment about Adolfo and Monica. Mau slithers out and when alone, Cris tells Adolfo Mau is sick! (I’ll say). Adolfo doesn’t believe it, neither do we. She doesn’t want to hear about his marriage to her sister.

Angel and Jimena talk as Rebeca struts up and rudely demands Jimena leave so she can talk with Angel.

Angel asks Rebeca if all this is about JE. No Rebeca sneers. I believe she says something to the effect there can only be one person in charge so tells Angel she can either wash dishes or be out of a job!

VIVIR #25 Part 2 of 2

At the restaurant, a mariachi band followed by JE walks up. Smiling broadly, (wrongly) assuming they are here for her, Rebeca walks toward JE expectantly. But then, he side steps her, completely ignoring her! He goes right up to Angel asking her to forgive him. He says he knows Santiago is innocent… However, Angel isn’t having it. She tells the musicians to stop and tells him to leave. Rebeca, eyes brimming with angry tears, storms off. Angel gives JE a piece of her mind. JE pleads his sister is dead and she retorts that he cheated. Frankly, she isn’t interested she tells him and asks him to leave. He starts to plead but she pushes him away with her arms, telling him to leave. Again. The divorce is on. Angel, mi vida he pleads to no avail.

Rebeca is on the phone with Doris who is with Icky and his son. Then Rebeca sees JE and fakes some excuse so that he has to give her a ride. Naturally, Angel and Jimena come outside and see them taking off together.

Angel cries to Jimena about her broken marriage, JE’s betrayal. She recalls walking into the bedroom, seeing them wrapped in each other’s arms and her resultant broken heart.

Rebeca tries to worm her way back into JE’s affections (which of course she never had to begin with). I believe he says he is not going to stop trying to win back Fatima’s love. He dismisses her firmly and she gets out of the car.

Rebeca is confronting Alma, Marisa and Loli. Rebeca mocks Loli’s crying (what a beyotch). Alma argues with Rebeca who cloisters herself in her room as Alma comforts Loli.

Icky and son return home and Jimena is there to greet them. She gets rid of his smarmy, smirking self-pronto.

Alma asks Rebeca to sit down on the bed. Rebeca wants nothing to do with her and rejects her hug. Alma takes a blanket and leaves.

JE drives up to the restaurant as the theme music swells. Meanwhile, Angel is in the back, in the kitchenm up to her elbows in rubber gloves, scrubbing dishes.

Rebeca recalls the humiliation of JE trying to crawl back to Angel…

As Elena and Angel fuss over Santiago, Agent Corral arrives to arrest him!?

Icky and Misael talk about finances. Does Icky say JE committed the fraud? Meanwhile, we see Romina clutching a folder tightly to her chest.

Fatima confronts Bruno but she doesn’t rise to the bait. He disparages Luciano who is making happy face pancakes for his children. Fatima defends Luciano and assures him Luciano is obtaining a divorce. Then she says something about Romina to him which I didn’t catch.

Lucas is hard at work when he runs into someone I’ve seen but can’t ID.

Ramiro is sitting on his bunk in jail when Santiago is pushed into the cell. Ramiro’s cell mates take umbrage and start in on him until Ramiro stops them.

Adolfo greets Lucas. Does Lucas tell him Santiago is innocent?

JE meets with Don Emilio. He thanks him for everything and Don Emilio encourages him.

Good evening Cris says entering the room followed by Mau. They walk in, so mo, as Don Emilio watches. JE stares and quietly says “papa”.!!

Vivir. Excellent recap, Diana! Despite the title, there doesn't seem to be a lot of love in this novela, at least not of the "true" and selfless variety. Oh good! Rebeca fights off her would-be rapist, Brayan. Fairly easily, in fact. Even evil women shouldn't be raped. JE seems to suspect that neither of the accused killed his sister. So Rebeca's birth name was Frida? What a tyrannical boss Rebeca is! And btw, how does she get to be boss since she's only a front for the real "buyer" of the restaurant? I was surprised the Angelli was willing to work as a dishwasher. What a humiliation! Presumably Angelli will eventually listen to JE and pardon him. Oh, the suspense! I loved the mariachi cliche, btw. I too don't understand why Santiago is arrested again. Good thing that the other fellow accused of killing Dulce is willing to defend him from the jailhouse thugs. Hope Santiago's lawyer represents them both.
 

Vivir. I too thought it was terrible the way Rebeca treated the little girl Loli. It makes you wonder what kind of a mother she'd be.

Rebeca was born as "Frida" and we frequently refer to her as "Refrida". :)

Thank you for your questions especially as to why no one died and named Rebeca as boss!! Did Monica deign her to be her "mouthpiece"? That said, I admire Angel's work ethic. Work is work. She didn't seem to mind what she was doing, but she did seem exhausted. No wonder.

I couldn't figure out why Santiago was arrested either. It IS a miracle Ramiro is there to save him again...

Diana, thank you for another fun recap. Sometimes I think that if I were not watching this novela I would still read your recaps for the fun of it.

I don't have much to say as I was busy today and haven't had a chance to look at the whole episode; tomorrow I have a couple of appointments. This is no problem for me, in fact it works out quite well. I read your recap first and then actually can much better follow what happens in the episode when I do watch.

I will say this much. The TN has told us several times now that Marino is a good guy. He stopped to help Lucas when they were trying to escape after burglarizing the restaurant, and then later saying Lucas had no hand in the burglary (so naturally the police just let Lucas go). Now he defends Santiago. I can see Ramiro some years later as a lawyer defending the downtrodden. He better lose the tattoo though.

SpanProf, Rebeca was originally, before being kidnapped, Frida, Angel's older sister, though Angel does not know this. Rebeca might not be a very nice person; I say "might" because we learned she has mental health issues. In any event, she is a tough cookie, and more than a match for Brayan or Misael.

Thanks Diana, I enjoyed your recap. Santiago was arrested for his escape and she said something about the death of Dulce. Maybe he hasn’t been cleared yet. Now that they’re in jail together maybe they can work together to prove they’re both innocent.

I couldn’t believe Cris is letting Mau stay in the guest room. I guess he fooled her. At least Don Emilio and Adolfo won’t be fooled-I hope!

Rebeca’s face when JE walked right past her was great! But then he leaves and gives her a ride, not too bright. I can’t wait until he sees the real Rebeca. What a truly miserable person. She was horrible to her mother and the sweet little girl.

I think Fatima should be quiet about how she loves Luciano and just concentrate on letting Bruno know that they are done and she feels nothing for him. I’m a little afraid for Luciano as I think Bruno could be a killer.

Alma needs to tell Elena that Rebeca is their daughter, then throw her out. Although I doubt Elena could give her enough love to change her attitude. But Rebeca will always treat Alma terribly.

Your sage comments on Ramiro rang totally true! "I can see Ramiro some years later as a lawyer defending the downtrodden. He better lose the tattoo though" had me nodding on both points. He really has been Santiago's protector. And savior.

I appreciate your reminder that Refrida does have mental health issues. While insanity does not mean evil is present, nor does being evil mean that insanity is. I do believe in pure, unadultered evil. I do struggle when it appears one is a mixture of both. The line between the two can be razor thin, as I believe it is in Rebeca's case. So far, she has been cruel and callous but I don't think she has crossed the irredeemable line, although she has certainly skirted it. Time will tell.

Bruno certainly has a temper, doesn't he? His anger rules him; he can't seem to regain emotional control once he's lost it which is frequently.

Yes, Rebeca will "always treat Alma terribly". I'm wondering how much further we need to go before Elena finds out the truth. I don't see Rebeca softening toward Elena or Angel but I might very well be wrong.

I agree that Mauricio is up to no good and it looks like JE also knows that. But he has bigger fish to fry with Refrida about to accuse him of having knocked her up. What will Monica do about this, if anything? Will she wonder whether Misael is the sperm donor? Will she care about that?

It would definitely work in Santiago's favor to have Adolfo as his lawyer if he believes Santiago is innocent. But how can he explain how this "accident" happened and that Misael was holding the gun?

Alma is likely to lose her mind once again. She might blame herself for how Refrida turned out, as she could not have known 20 years ago that she was a bad seed from the get-go.

I forgot to mention the outfit Refrida had on either last episode or the one before that . It was a dark denim bustier . I think it signified that this is not her first rodeo. #fashionpolicearrestthiswoman

Urban, I don't think Monica will do anything once JE is announced as the father. She will likely just be happy Rebeca isn't naming Misael. I'm sure she will realize Misael is the father, if she hasn't already.

I agree that Adolfo would be an excellent choice for Santiago's lawyer. He seems to be fair and think he will realize Santiago isn't guilty of murder. Stupidity, yes.

I think Alma is blaming herself but I think it became apparent fairly quickly that Rebeca had issues...

Thanks so much, Diana. As I've said before, you're a real trouper for doing daily recaps. I have noticed in my years on Telemundo that without recaps, the conversation dies.

I am a bit confused about Romina. She took pictures of some documents with her phone. She put them in an envelope. For a minute I thought she was going to take them, but they were probably the ones that made her bug-eyed when she realized where the money to start Misael and Bruno's mysterious company came from. So she probably put them back after taking the pictures. I suspect she'll keep the job she wanted enough to ditch her husband and children by threatening Misael if he tries to fire her.

Come on! Mau goes through a grief act. There's news in the joint, and he likely would have heard about Dulce's death since the news media were swarming around.

We got a big understanding of Adolfo last night. Looks like Monica and Refrida use the same playbook. I got the impression from what he said to Cristina that he and Cris were either an item or perhaps engaged when Monica seduced him. I suppose Misael is the weapon used to get Adolfo away from her sister. This is why we've seen Adolfo's soft spot for Cris the whole way through. He said last night that he has to pay 24-hours a day for the mistake he made.

If it weren't for the exceedingly stale plot point of Refrida being pregnant, we might have had a refreshing novela where the galan keeps on trying to win back his true love.

I think Refrida went to bed to sulk in Alma's bedroom. It was not the one she had before with all the tchotchkes. She told her mother to go sleep with the intrusas. Why didn't Alma confront her with finding out Refrida knew she was a del Olmo?

Fatima kind of shut Bruno up by telling him Romina left him for a career.

Ramiro was able to protect Santiago from the evil guys in the cell because he's part of the gang Brayan runs. Either they are also members or fear Brayan.

Yes, Santiago was put in prison because he escaped. Silly plot point.

I hate seeing Cris get duped. All that time in prison did not make Mauricio a better person. Now I don't blame Don Emilio for not telling her about the prison sentence.

I love that Santiago and Ramiro meet. Wondering how soon before they learn they have the same tattoo on the same body part. Will Santiago be there long enough for them both to hit the gang shower?

Yay! Angel's fighting spirit is showing. She told Rebecca something like "you can have my crumbs" (i.e., JE).

She must have been or Sebastian would have said something; I have a feeling she roused his suspicions simply because she was looking so guilty. Wow, Refrida is delusional!!! The look on her face was like she really did expect JE to be there for her! You know you're losing it when you start to believe your own lies!! Then she thought bubbled something like: "I have Angelli she takes everything from me!' This chick needs a serious reality check!

I might be alone, but I'm not so sure Aldolfo IS a good choice for either Ramiro or Santiago's lawyer, especially not Santi's. Aldolfo is a good and fair man, but Dulce was his neice and the daughter of his true love, he can't be objective, that is a HUGE conflict of interest. Add to it the connection between Angel (Santi's sister) and JE and it's even worse for Santi. Maybe if Aldolfo knew of a good honest lawyer, that would be better. Also, they need separate lawyers, I think. Santi's best shadow of doubt currently is Ramiro and vice versa, I think it would even be a conflict of interest to represent both.

Iker is such a jerk! He's definitely going to try running back to Jimena, she better send him packing!!!

The big reveal with Bruno and Fatima and Romina was that Romina is Luciano's soon to be ex-wife. Bruno didn't know that, and he was trying to poison Fatima's mind by saying Luciano left his wife because he got bored of her and one day he would leave Fatima for the same reason; because men like that don't change.

"You know you're losing it when you start to believe your own lies" perfectly captured Refrida's frustration. It was gratifying to see her "lose" in this scene, however, it was just one battle. The war will be long and drawn out.

Your case as to why Adolfo may not be a good choice was compelling. My thought was that Adolfo seems to have integrity and perhaps having a personal stake in the matter might make him fight hard to ensure justice is done, particularly in Ramiro's case who has done nothing wrong. But yes, Santiago would be a conflict of interest.

So Iker has tired of Doris already? I hope Jimena throws him and the welcome mat out.

Bruno is an idiot. Thanks for noting his forked tongue words...I can't see Fatima going back with him but I know enough to say never say never.

It will be interesting if both JE and Icky try to go crawling back to their wives. I guess you don't know what you've got until its gone.

I am confused about Mau. Now that he is back in the house . What is his scheme ? JE definitely had an " Oh ****, I dont need this guy showing up now on top of everything" look on his face at the end of the episode. I was hoping Mau was going to be a good guy . I still cannot believe that he wasn't at his daughters funeral . No matter what he did, that seems awful .

I think Mau wants Cris (and her money) back. Ingratiating himself with JE and Fatima would be one way to do it.
